Something something about the Third Doctor and the fate of Tantalus. You're trapped in one place. Everything you want, that you once took for granted is right there in front of you, you can see it you can reach for it but you can never have it. You will never attain it on your own. Your fate is dependent on the mercy or cruelty of others and you hate it and you rage against it but you can’t do anything, your defiance is treated like nothing but a childish tantrum but you refuse to beg, you won’t get that desperate no matter how long you’re trapped here, no matter how low you’re brought down. You stand among humans and you look human but you’re not, you’re an animal in a cage with them and you’re the only one who can see the bars. Gnawing and hacking at them to no avail. And yet all you can do is wait and hope and try and fail in an endless loop until an outside force interferes to free you from your prison. The carrot and the stick. How does it feel to be on the receiving end?

#even when his exile is lifted and he gets his tardis back he still can’t get jamie and zoe back #he’ll never be able to #the doctor’s always lost companions but until that point they’d always chosen to leave #this was the first instance where he lost them #no not lost they were TAKEN from him #the doctor was ripped apart mentally and physically and emotionally #and he has to live with that #knowing that they’re living their lives without him as if nothing happened #(and even in jamie’s case he’s not sure considering Jamie was basically dropped into the middle of a battlefield)#only that he can never see them again #bc they won’t know him they won’t remember any of the adventures the fun the quiet moments spent together #he’s the only one who knows who remembers #and what he can’t bear more than anything is having them look at him with no recognition in their eyes #having them ask him who he is and not reacting in any way when he says “i’m the doctor”#not to mention how easily he was exiled and punished #he triumphed over daleks and cybermen and so many other creatures #but in the face of the time lords he was rendered helpless so easily #they trapped him took his tardis and his connection and his knowledge and his companions away and forced him to regenerate just like that #and now the time lords are aware of his existence and probably keeping an eye on him #in case they need him for anything (aka jobs to do for them)#reduced to a boy put in time out and then an errand boy #doctor who #classic who #third doctor #3rd doctor #my thoughts #wow that’s a lot of tags i’m sorry #i got carried away #i just can’t stop thinking about the tragedy of it all #in two’s ending and three’s beginning and their companions

am i just so far gone with these two that i can barely correctly comprehend anything they do toward eachother as normal casual interaction anymore or was this actually topher being worried about abe

Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.

#slamming a stick into the ground like the pope ‘MORE WIZARDS WITH MINOR COGNITIVE DECLINE’#old washed up bards and barbarians who had to get a hip replaced #the only classes that are probably immune to it are druids and clerics #based solely on the power of very old gardeners and priests #they’re probably good until they start losing 3x oriented #but even monks I I think have the right to take an arrow to the knee #the other aspect of this is differing lifespans which mean that when parties do get back together for a reunion tour #there are incentives to keep them apace with their peers #and the format of dnd means that the only other time most people see their old characters is in little cameos when friends gm #and no one wants to nerf their friend’s baby #but with in the era of more experimental actual play and game design #I think we can move past these hang ups and give the people what they deserve #old rogues with arthritis who are still really good but won’t stop complaining about their glory days

amazes me that people can remember information about routes in pokémon games. like ‘i loooove route 217 ❤️’ ‘route 209 has such a banger theme!!!’ ‘have you made it to route 225?’ ‘you can find this rare pokémon on route 210!’ bestie those are numbers. those are just numbers to me how do you remember which area is which. i think i have a general idea of most of them but i still have to look them up every time i need to refer to them in conversation

#of course i know some of them #but a lot of them are like uhhh #they do count up of course but it’s not like the map is a perfectly linear thing #how am i supposed to keep track of all those. please just name placed actual names #another reason i love pla the map locations are names and not numbers!!! goodness.#paldea is like. ok there are a total of four giant provinces simply and aptly named after the four cardinal directions #easy enough #however the sub-areas are once again. numbers.#and because once again a map is not a linear thing those numbers aren’t helpful #also the way they’re spread out makes no sense. the south province is huuuuge with six different areas #yeah uhh area six and area five are on opposite sides of the map!!! why.#i think they’re listed like that based on how early they expect you to get there #like you start in area one of course #you probably won’t get to area five right away even though you theoretically could fairly early. i believe #but you would have no real reason to bc there’s no main story beat over there it’s a very quiet area #area six is mostly alfornada and the cliffs surrounding it which you REALLY can’t get to until later #point being. i know there’s probably some sort of logic to this numbers thing. but it’s still a confusing system #pokémon

I love that the “There’s only one bed” trope for Symweaver would just be a normal day for them that they don’t even think twice about it. They’d sleep in each other’s beds in their dorm as students whenever they felt like it and still do the same on the Arcology. They’re at complete ease in each other’s presence that they never really thought to make it a big deal

The only differences are that Niran cuddles her a lot more because he likes how it’s a different vibe to intentionally snuggle somewhere away from home, and Satya studies his face a lot more because the environment isn’t the same and it’s comforting that he’s a universal constant to her

Hmmm I kinda want to make a side blog for RPG Maker game development related things to be able to talk to more experienced people in that community, but at the same time I both don’t really think I’d get much attention and don’t want to accidentally spoil my own game (^^ ; ).

I have a rough story, concept doodles, a tileset, some character sprites, an enemy that walks around but can’t initiate battle yet (if I even decide to have a battle system), a couple rooms with some events, and a functioning run button, but I’m still lost on how to do much else at the moment. Especially since this program has the ability for scripting, meaning I’ll probably have to learn and actually retain another coding language.

So, I’m not very far at all lol. Idk how well that’d go over on the established fandom website, but eh.
