TOUR (part one)
read part two here
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: sub!matt x reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: matt’s been on tour for about a month, meaning he hasn’t seen or done anything with you in a month. he takes matters into his own hands when he’s finally alone, but he does need your help with it.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: SMUT, mentions underage drinking, swearing, male masturbation, overstimulation (kinda)
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 830
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: umm guys i literally woke up to over a hundred notifications??? thank you SO much i didn’t expect this to happen at all. i’m having so much fun with this🥲
my notes app is COOKING right now and the ideas are ideaing. you guys and your support makes me low key emotional LMAO
i want to try and post once a day but i might do more than once sometimes instead because i am HYPE.
also conflicted if i should make a part two so let me know!
Tumblr media
it’s friday night and you’re sitting in your best friend’s living room. the two of you and other close friends come together some weekends to hang out. you guys have been laughing, drinking (despite being underage by a year), watching TV, or playing games. in the middle of laughing, you feel your phone buzz repeatedly underneath your thigh. you lift your leg to retrieve it, seeing an incoming phone call from your boyfriend matt.
“hey, sorry. mind if i take this?” you ask the group, lifting your phone so they can see the screen.
“not at all.” your best friend smiles.
you get up from the couch. “thanks. continue the game without me.”
you speed walk to the bathroom and close the door accepting the call and bringing it to your ear. “hello?”
“hey.” he breathes out.
“hey, you.” you smile. “how are you doing?”
“fine,” he says. he’s silent for a beat before speaking again. “sorry i didn’t talk to you much today. it’s been busy, but we just finished the tampa show.”
you haven’t seen matt in over a month because he’s been touring with his brothers across the country. you couldn’t be more proud, but you guys miss each other like crazy.
“did you win?”
“damn right i did, baby,” he says hoarsely. he sounds a bit strange to you, but you shrug it off as exhaustion. doing shows almost every day can wear somebody out.
but oh boy are you wrong.
on the other line, matt sits on his bed in the tour bus with his hand wrapped around his dick. your recent post on instagram is displayed on his screen as you talk about your day on the other end, having no clue what’s happening.
the post consists of you posing, wearing a short navy blue dress. your tits practically spilled out of the top.
“…was crazy.” you finish. “anyway, is tour fun so far? it’s almost over already.”
“uh huh.” he squeezes his eyes shut and throws his head back. he hisses, his movements gradually becoming faster. he’s sensitive, and it hurts so fucking bad. he needs to release, but only you have the power to make him come undone.
“matt? you okay? you sound off.” you ask concerned.
“keep talking, baby. i’m so close.”
you go to say something, but instead, press your ear closer to the phone. you hear shuffling and grunting. it doesn’t take a mastermind to figure out what he’s doing.
“you’re being risky, matthew.” you say teasingly, a whine escaping his lips. he prefers being called matt, but with you, matthew rolls perfectly off of your tongue. “where’s everybody else, hm?”
“at the store,” he says shakily, his hand pumping faster. he takes his thumb and twirls it around his red tip where pre-cum is threatening to spew out. “i need to cum so bad.”
“then do it, baby. pretend it’s me making you feel so good,” you say seductively, biting your lip as you hear his sounds of pleasure.
you get that familiar feeling in your core, but because you’re at a friend's, you’ll feel weird doing it in her bathroom.
guess you’ll have to wait until you’re all alone.
“fuck.” he whispers, stomach jerking. he thrusts up into his fist a few times to finish the job. he whines as he makes a mess all over his stomach and thighs.
he whines again, purposely trying to overstimulate himself. “matt, don’t overdo it. you’re too sensitive.” you say, knowing he didn’t stop because you can still hear the commotion.
“please.” he exhales. “one more.”
“hold on,” you reply, opening the camera app on the phone. you pull the straps down of your dress and pull out your boobs, pushing them together and snapping a picture. you know how much matt goes crazy over them. you send the photo, waiting for his reaction.
you bring the phone back up to your ear to hear a sigh of “holy fuck” fall from his mouth.
“i need to fuck your tits so bad.” he groans, throwing his head back as he tries to reach his second orgasm.
you bite your lip to hide your smile, enjoying this a little too much. the wet noises on the other line drive you insane.
“i’m gonna— fuck, i’m cumming.” he lets out a loud moan as he makes another mess, his dick red and swollen. he’s still not satisfied, because you’re not there. he continues pumping his cramped hand, but you and he both know it’s no use.
“matt, that’s enough.” you say sternly. “don’t do it too much, okay? it’ll hurt.”
he obliges, removing his hand and lying there. his breathing starts to slow, but he’s still panting. “i miss you so much.”
“i miss you too.” you coo. “just a few more days, okay?”
“okay,” he mumbles.
you lied.
what matt doesn’t know is that you have a plane ticket for tomorrow, to fly out to ft. lauderdale for the last show.

✧.* what’s your number?; kmg
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synposis: after finding an online article about the number of sexual partners a woman should have, your day with your neighbor turns into him being lucky number eighteen.
paring/s: model! mingyu x afab! reader, ft. little brother! chan.
genre/s: humor (sort of lmao), neighbors2lvrs vibes, fuckboy&girl reader and gyu.
warning/s: alcohol consumption, sexual content (minors - dni), talks of broken bones, oc has female genitalia
word count: 3.8k
content: seggsy times, idiots being besties, reader loses her job, all the vibes.
note/s: loosely based on one of my fav movies, what's your number with anna ferris. lmao enjoy. also def unedited so srry. xo.
“Miss. Y/L/N. I’m very sorry but we have decided to let you go.”
Your boss put down a brown cardboard box that once held wine from a staff party about a week ago. You stood in silence, why were you being fired? You’re one of the only executives who does their job. All of the other employees sit around and drink whiskey and flirt with the other women on your floor on company time, go home to their wives, and make six figures.
“Sir, can I ask why?”
“Budget cuts, sorry honey.”
Honey of course. Not only is he himulating you, he’s also being condescending.
“Why not fire Ted? He does nothing but use his company card for ‘business expenses’ like taking his different fucks to exotic vacations and restaurants.”
“Our female clients like Theodore. Sorry it has to be this way. Here’s a check to keep your rent underway and for any troubles. Good luck.”
You picked up the brown cardboard he handed it to you and dumped the white envelope into your bag as you stormed out of his glass chamber.
Perfect timing, your brothers getting married and you’re getting fired. Your mother will surely love to hear about this.
After gathering the contents of your desk you found your way back to your white and gray covered apartment, sinking down into the perfect couch you bought yourself as a reward for your first month in the job.
Pulling your laptop from the pocket of your work bag, you scrolled through the news on your side widget . Coming across an article written in some stupid lifestyle magazine about ‘the appropriate number of sexual partners for women.’
“Okay, so society is regressing.”
Curious enough you scrolled through to a small section with a quiz, childish, but probably suitable for women over 50 or under 21.
Following your finger down the various categories that pertained to you until it came to the bottom of the page pointing out your result.
“15 and over, women with this number often have difficulty finding a spouse and are unlikely to ever settle down. Are they fucking serious? Men can fuck 50 women and still are fine.”
A vibration came from your phone, a text from your neighbor.
[3:44pm].
Mingyu: Mind helping me out? New girl won’t take the bait about my “emergency”
Y/N: what’s the issue with her this time?
Mingyu: nothing, just too clingy. I’m expecting you in five, say our dad fell in the shower. Thank you, owe you.
Y/n: got it see you in five.
Mingyu and you met often when you were ushering out hook ups or crazy exes show up to your door. You didn’t know much about his life, other than he’s a model, and obviously has bad luck with women.
Pulling yourself up off your couch and throwing a blazer back over your shoulders you strode off down to the other end of the hallway.
“Mingyu? Mingyu seriously answer your phone? Hello!”
The door opened revealing a semi-naked girl, she was pretty sure, blonde, tall, nice eyes, but boring.
“Who the fuck are you?”
“Mingyu’s sister, who the fuck are you?”
“Oh my god! So sorry, hi so nice to meet you, I’m Ailee his gir-“
“My friend, y/n. What’s wrong?”
Letting yourself passes the bra sporting blonde you looked Mingyu straight in the face and pulled out your best crying face, it was easy today being that you’re pissed about work and that stupid fucking quiz.
“It’s dad, he fell. I don’t think it’s good, we have to go.”
“Oh. Okay, let me change.”
Mingyu pulled in his jeans and a white t-shirt, grabbed his fancy leather wallet from the counter and pulled you through the front door of his condo.
“Ailee, let yourself out okay?”
“Call me?”
“Uh, maybe it sounds like this is bad, maybe we should stop seeing each other? I’ll call you.”
The truth is Mingyu was never going to call her, he said that to all the others. Yet, you never saw them again.
Silently you open the door to your place and shut it behind you.
“She seems nice.”
“Yeah trust me, she’s not.”
“Noted. But, better than that crazy red headed girl, Cass was it?”
“We don’t have to talk about her.”
“Missing that jacket still?”
“Yes.”
Mingyu took his place on your leather armchair and sipped the coffee you had initially made for yourself.
“What is this? What’s your number?”
“Oh my god. Stop looking at my shit.”
You whipped the lid of your laptop close and stole it out of his hands
“Do you really think anyone cares how many people you sleep with? Isn’t that kind of fucked up?”
“You can only say that because well, one your a man and two you’ve fucked basically half the women in this city.”
“Not true, we haven’t fucked.”
“Right and we will not.”
“Sure, sure keep telling yourself that. So what is it? 12?”
“Do you really need that answer?”
“Yes. And I will bother you until you tell me.”
“17.”
Mingyu laughed, not because he felt bad for you or that you were going to hell for fucking 17 people, but because he didn’t see the big deal.
“Oh come on, that is not that bad.”
“What’s yours?”
“Maybe 20?”
“We are way too close in number for me to not feel weird about it now.”
“Because it doesn’t matter, why do you think you couldn’t get a husband or boyfriend or whatever the fuck you want because of that?”
“I don’t know, I didn’t until today I guess.”
“Bad day?”
The dark haired man’s head nodded towards the unpacked cardboard box sitting on your dining table.
“Weird day. And now I have to go see my family at an overly fancy party and sit around clutching cocktails and lie that I didn’t lose my job, just until their precious boy is married off.”
“Ah, the black sheep of a rich family huh?”
“Shut up, no. They’re just judgmental is all. Well, my mom is anyway.”
“I see. What are you wearing?”
“I don’t know? What’s wrong with what I have on now?”
Mingyu looked you over in your semi unbuttoned dress shirt and oversized trousers, sexy and sophisticated, but a little boring for a party.
“Actually you look good. But, it’s not exactly giving a cocktail party for the sister of the groom. Especially if your mom is as judgmental as you say.”
“Okay, go in my closet then. Work your weird model magic or whatever, Mr. Jeans and white tee.”
“Anything for you, rich girl.”
You walked Mingyu through your bedroom into the oversized walk in closet, filled to the brim of clothes, half of them with tags still on. Gifts from boyfriends, friends, your mother.
“Wow, I didn’t expect this.”
“And what did you expect?”
“A closet turned into an office and like five pairs of the same pants, maybe matching pajama sets. But not this.”
Sitting down on the small stool you let the man rifle his way through the various colors of fabric.
“Okay, so this black dress. It’s tight but not overwhelmingly, it’ll show your figure and still make you appropriate. These tall black boots, sexy to show off your long legs and make you look even taller, a nice bag, maybe.. this red one? Or the green, just for a pop of color. Put it on.”
“You finish quickly .”
“Never had a woman say that to me before. Hurry up.”
Smirking, you run back into your bedroom, out of sight from the man tapping his fingers on the marble countertop of your dressing room, sliding into the outfit he picked out.
“Okay, I look-“
“Beautiful.”
“Really? Don’t you think this is a little much? I mean, for this?”
“Not at all, it’s actually really simple. May I?”
He held up a silver chain necklace in his hands and waited until you nodded as he strung it around your neck.
“Perfect. Now, leave your hair up. Maybe a nice bun and curl the front pieces? You look nice without makeup on, but do that cute winged liner look you do with a nude lip.”
“Okay, since when did you become a stylist?”
“I’m a model, I know what I’m talking about. Come on, chop chop.”
“Okay, mom. Jesus.”
“Dad. Daddy, actually.”
“That's never happening.”
Doing his instructions as he asked, you curled the front pieces of your hair letting it softly dangle in front of your face and placed the rest up on the crown of your head in a loosely tied knot.
“Okay. So maybe you’re good at this.”
“I know. If you need my help further, you know where to find me.”
“You’re leaving?”
“Aren’t you?”
Holding up your phone you realized how much time has passed and grabbed your keys.
“Right. Thank you.”
“My pleasure. See you soon, y/n.”
“Bye, Gyu.”
Tumblr media
Walking up to the front steps of your parents luxurious brown stone, you felt the cold sweat under your armpits before walking in the front door.
“Y/N holy shit, where have you been? Mom is going to kick your ass.”
“Sorry, Chanie. I had something going on. Where is she?”
“In the dining room with Marnie and Seungcheol. Talking about wedding stuff, please save us.”
Coming to your brother's rescue was part of the job of being an older sister. Seeing him settle down and get engaged to a girl like Marnie was amazing for you, she was everything he needed, and it was nice to have another girl in your family.
Grabbing  a glass of champagne from the silver tray of a waiter, you strode up to your mother in your childhood home, still as nervous as you would have been as a little girl to be under her gaze.
“Aw, my baby. Finally arrived. Hello.”
“Hi, Mom. Hello, guys.”
You mom hugged you giving a kiss on both of your blushing cheeks passing you along to greet your brother's future wife and his friend Seungcheol.
“Y/N, you look amazing. Where did you get this beautiful dress?”
“Thank you. My friend helped me pick this out actually, I don’t remember where it’s from.”
“Friend? Which friend is this, darling?”
“His name is Mingyu, he’s my neighbor.”
“Gay? He has wonderful taste.”
“No, not gay mom. He’s a model.”
“Oh wow, can I see a photo? Why didn’t you bring him?”
“Maybe next time.”
After downing the first glass of alcohol you quickly look for another, Seungcheol already holding a glass in his hand for you with a wink.
“Thank you.”
“Anytime.”
“Y/N, can you go find your father? Now that you're here we can start dinner.”
“Yep.”
Strolling throw the various rooms full of priceless knickknacks and photos of your youth, you stop at the open oak doors of your fathers study, looking at him for a moment, behind his desk, glasses on, reading his book.
“Hello, Dad. May I come in?”
“Y/N, yes of course. Just hiding out here until I can eat some dinner. How are you?”
“I’m okay, mom sent me to get you to come eat. What are you reading?”
“Oh, just some Orwell. Relaxes me.”
“Shall we, sir?”
“Yes, my girl.”
You held your arm out for your father, he was always your best friend, someone who no matter what supported everything you wanted to do. He was stern, but even after parenting you he would end it with a hug and a piece of candy, seeing him grow older had your heart in pain.
Searching the table for your placecard, it sat you right in between your brother and Seungcheol, his best man and best friend for longer than you could ever remember.
“Are you coming to his bachelor mixer?”
Seungcheol’s long eyelashes fluttered in front of your face and you noticed how much more mature he looked, he was always cute, but it’s grown on you now.
“Are you going to embarrass me?”
“I’m not the one who got drunk in college and broke her arm trying to dive into the fountain.”
“Ouch. At least I haven’t shit myself drunk as an adult and embarrassed myself in front of the girl I liked.”
“I did not shit myself. It was a fart.”
“A fart with a little poop, a shart if you will. What did they call you? Shart Seungcheol?”
Your mother interrupted the light flirting you two were enjoying and gave a speech about how lovely it is to see her baby marrying a second daughter and so on and so on.
After everyone downed their salmon and fancy finger food, you got into the silly party bus along side the rest of the bridal party, moving on to the night of drinking ahead of you.
“Guys let’s play a game on the way to the bar.”
Your brother's fiancé spoke, turning down the music and passing around multiple bottles of tequila and glasses.
“Everyone right down a confession on your paper. If we guess whose it is, they have to drink, but if you get it wrong you drink.”
Looking down at the small pink sheet of paper you wrote about your day, your sex number, and you losing your job. Maybe nobody will get it, maybe nobody will care because they’ll be equally as drunk.
The game went on as your anxiety grew and nobody had chosen your confession yet, that was until your brother pulled one of the last sheets of paper out from the bowl.
“Today I lost my job, I let a stupid magazine article tell me how women who have sex with more than 15 men means they’re unloveable and unwanted. I can’t wait to get fucked up. Congratulations! Well that’s my sister.”
“What? How did you guess that?”
“I know your handwriting dumbass, drink, everyone drink.”
Your night continued, nobody mentioned your failure as a person, they just celebrated the happy couple.
More and more drinks in, maybe the same amount of people you’ve had sex with. You took it upon yourself to get people on the dance floor, when you felt a pair of hands coming up on your hips, turning around to curse them out, you recognized the eyes staring back at you.
Mingyu.
“What the hell are you doing here!?”
“Birthday party, we always come here. What the hell are you doing here?”
“Mixed sexes bachelor party.”
Mingyu's hands were still resting on your hips, on top of the very dress he helped you pick out hours before.
“Exciting. Want to get a drink with me?”
“I have one.”
You held up the half empty glass of your Negroni and Mingyu snatched it from your grip, downing it for you.
“You’re paying.”
“Yes. That was the plan.”
His hand pulled out off the dance floor and back over to a pair black leather bar stools, waving the bartender over.
“Two whiskey sours please.”
“No, one whiskey sour. I’ll have a whiskey neat.”
The bartender nodded working his magic for the two rocks glasses.
“Here you go, tab Mingyu?”
“Yes, thanks John.”
“Wow first name bases?”
“I told you we like to come here. Who’s the pale dude staring at us?”
You turned around to look at your brother, cheering you from across the bar.
“My brother, Chan. His wedding party.”
“Yes, I remember. I meant the one next to him?”
“Ah, Seungcheol. Best man.”
“He wants to fuck you, maybe he’s lucky number eighteen.”
“Maybe he was lucky number ten back in the day.”
“Do you remember his number?”
“No, but I’ve already fucked him. In college.”
“Ah, I see. Still on the hunt?”
“Not at all actually, I’m celabte now.”
“No way, I bet you could find many dudes who’d want to fuck you here.”
“It’s a matter of if I want to fuck them no?”
“Touchè”
“What about him?”
Mingyu pointed to a tall blonde, long hair, and pretty lips.
“Gorgeous. But not my style. I’m not really in the mood to get laid.”
“And let my work go to waste?”
You smiled, sipping your drink and feeling the warm liquid enter your body.
“You didn’t give me my beautiful face and fat ass, you just put it in a dress. And as my dad says, leave them wanting more.”
“You’re a very funny drunk, she shocks me even more.”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Mhm.”
“Do you ever get tired of having me save your ass from all those girls? Don’t you want to settle down and not have your neighbor coming over to rescue you all the time?”
“Maybe the reason I do it is so you’ll save me.”
“Shut up.”
“No. I’m serious. I like hanging out with you, I enjoy seeing you, and you’re very entertaining. I like role play.”
“I see, you have a kink.”
“All jokes aside, I like seeing you.”
You were surprised by his gentle voice and nature, you always knew him from the outside, a beautiful guy who has bad luck getting girls out of his apartment for whatever reason.
“I like seeing you too.”
Mingyu's hand rested on your thigh as he looked towards the same dance floor he pulled you from before, basically begging you with his eyes to come back out with him.
You agreed, holding his hands through various sweaty bodies, some you knew and some you didn’t. Dancing along with them to the rhythm of the song, holding yourself up on Mingyu's large frame
“Surprised to see you in something other than jeans and a tee.”
“You like?”
“If I say yes are you going to fuck with me over it?”
“Maybe. Are you going to let me be your lucky number eighteen?”
“If you promise you don’t have some random girl barge in your door tomorrow to get me to leave?”
“She’ll be tied up.”
“Let’s go. I have to say bye to my brother first. Come on.”
Walking towards the door you spot Chan playing darts with Marnie, who was obviously kicking his ass.
“Hey! I’m going to head out, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Is this Mingyu?”
“Oh shit, yes Marnie, Chan, this is Mingyu. Mingyu, this is my brother Chan and his fiancé Marnie.”
Mingyu outstretched his hand to the couple, shaking it kindly.
“Nice to meet you man, my sister talks about you a lot. Be good to her.”
“Chan, shut the hell up. Love you both, mwah mwah.”
“Mingyu if you’re free tomorrow, y/n has a plus one. We’d love to have you.”
Smiling and whisking Mingyu out of the front door, you began to run together through the light rain falling, two blocks to your apartment.
“Sorry, my brothers, an idiot.”
“He seems nice, his wife to be too.”
You felt your hands shaking in nervousness riding up the elevator to your shared floor. Stepping off and standing in the hallway between your two front doors.
“Your place or mine?”
“Well, I picked you up didn't I? Come to mine.”
Mingyu led you through his familiar front door and helped you out of your wet clothes, throwing them in his washing machine.
Now standing in his living room, just in your black lace bra and panties, feeling like all those other girls before. Almost in fear of someone knocking to kick you out of his dimmed apartment.
“Come on.”
You giggled as he picked up your half naked frame and carried you into his bedroom.
“Lay down. Off the edge of the bed, trust me.”
You didn’t say anything just followed his instructions as his fingers came and wrapped themselves around your lace underwear, blowing on your clit with his soft breath as he pulled them down your freshly shaved legs.
“Fuck.”
His lips came in contact between your heated center, splitting his kisses between your aching parts and your thighs.
Your hands working their way through his hair as he used his tongue to work his way around your clit and between your folds, pushing you closer and closer into your own euphoria.
Maybe you understood why girls didn’t want to let him go, if this was his head game, you can’t even imagine what could come next.
“You taste so sweet, I should’ve known better to be careful, I might get addicted to you.”
“Stop with the niceties, Gyu. Can you please fuck me?”
“Eager are we?”
“Yes.”
Mingyu pulled you up by the back of your neck, forcing your head near the top of his dick, waiting for you to wrap your mouth around it and get it sopping wet so he could enter in between your legs.
“Oh, baby, that feels so good. I love watching you on my dick, but we have to stop before you get me going too much.”
Your head turned up at him, mascara slightly spilling under your eyes, as you opened your mouth searching for the feeling of his lips on yours, before he planted in on you he spit into your mouth, and inserted himself between the same thighs he was kissing before, slowly entering inch by inch, making you wait to feel him fully inside of you even more.
“Comfortable, baby?”
“Yes, faster please.”
“So polite, but as you said before, leave them wanting more and more. I want you to get riled up.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Mmm, I like the sound of that.”
His thrusting became more rapid with your soft moaning, kissing your neck in the process, riding out your high with you, you felt him begging to slow down as his teeth wrapped around your hard nipples, sucking softly at them.
“You’re so delicious, I don’t think I can last much longer.”
“Me either, but it’s only round one.”
“Do you want to do this again?”
“Eighteen has always been my lucky number, now fill me up.”
With your final words, Mingyu rode the rest of his high before finishing inside of you, placing a soft kiss on your perfectly pink lips, and dipping his head back down to your center to clean you up with his mouth.
“Want to stay?”
“Is that alright?”
“Yeah, come on. Let’s shower.”
The tall man led you into his beautiful marble bathroom and turned the water on in his shower built for two.
“I meant what I said at the bar, you know. I like being with you.”
Your long arms reached up to his hair, massaging his scalp with shampoo.
“I meant what I said too, lucky eighteen.”
“So I’m your lucky number?”
“Yes, don’t tell my mom tomorrow.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll tell her that you called me sir and the ass she gave you is indeed perfect.”
You planted a soft kiss on his lips, before pushing him back under the warm water of the shower head.
“I dare you.”

can i just say that i am OBSESSED with your Alfie series. literally cannot get enough of it. Also!! Was wondering if you could write a fluff piece were reader gets injured and alfie comes to her rescuee? Your writing is so good <3
Hi my love! This ask was so so sweet! I am so glad you like the series, it was so much fun to share it with you guys, I know I tell y'all all the time but it's true! My heart is just so full I can't help it! And of course I can write some fluff! You know I love it hehe. I'm sorry this took a while but I hope you like it! This was actually inspired by my Thanksgiving fiasco this past year lmao. I was in charge of the turkey, mac and cheese, dessert, and potatoes. My little brother was my sous chef and I completely cut my thumb open and my brother almost passed out lmao. Anyway, sending all my love to you! - Mo

There is something so soothing about the kitchen. When the world is so chaotic and cold and uncertain, the kitchen is a haven. Here it’s safe and warm and systematic. The chops and bubbling of the stove are so rhythmic, any harshness of the day just falling off your shoulders in waves. Because here you could understand and set the temperature. Here you could control the outcome and be free. Even if you were trying something new, you could be confident in the knowledge that it would always have a good outcome. It was your favorite part of the day, just cooking with Alfie. You on one side with Alfie on the opposite, working separately to jointly create beautiful.
The only problem that came with cooking, was that it was a little too peaceful. You became too relaxed. And as Alfie was apt to remind you, it wasn’t good to be too relaxed around knives and hot stoves. But it was too easy. The steady hum of the fire and boiling. The pattern you’ve gone through many a time. Your body would take over like a dance from your childhood. Your hands knew what they were doing. Your mind could take a break. And she would wander. Things to be completed in the office tomorrow. That new quilt you were making for your mother. Alfie needing a haircut.

“AH!!! Oh God ah!!”
A long and deep line blossoms on your palm. Far too entrenched in your mind, you were completely missing how the knife was getting closer and closer to your hand. You quickly grab a nearby dish towel, tightly wrapping your hand to catch the trickle dripping to the wood on the floor. Alfie is quick to you though, loudly dropping the cutlery and bowl he was holding. "Shit! Sweet heart you alright? What d'ya do to yourself?"
"Nothing nothing Alfie darling! Just a little scrape I'm sorry!"
Alfie peered at the slowly soaking dishtowel and raised his thick blonde brows at you. Mustache quirking, indicating that once again, you are a terrible liar. Gently but without holding room for argument he unraveled your makeshift bandage as you winced. His mouth furrowed and grumbled, "Ah shit treacle. This is why I always tell you right? You can't be all day dreaming when you're working in here! You insist on not letting me help ya, and then there you go fucking filleting yourself!"
Cool tears start trickling down. It burned with the introduction of the air and the embarrasment of getting a nasty cut. Alfie sighed, wiping your tears with one hand has he cradled your injury in the other. If there was one thing he hated most in the world, it was seeing you cry. "Aw my dove, no tears yeah? Not too bad ain't it? Why I don't even think it'll need a stitch I wager. Just a little alcohol on it and a bandage and you'll be right as rain. C'mon my angel, let's get you better aye? Dinner can wait a few minutes."
Despite having a terrible temper and being completely and utterly impatient... Alfie Solomons was an incredibly gentle and tender nurse. Stern. Always stern. And teasing. And scolding. But gentle above all else. You winced and shed a small tear when Alfie poured the clear and horrendous smelling alcohol on your wound. He tutted and kissed your temple all the while telling you, "Maybe this'll teach you eh? Nothing like a war would to make you more smart about your surroundings."
You thanked your lucky stars you didn't need a stitch at all. Despite the blood it was really a shallow cut. Alfie wrapped your hand skillfully. Pressing a kiss right over the bandage as the final salve. As you whispered a chaste thank you, Alfie pulled you into his chest saying, "Now listen my dove. I don't like to baby you. You are a grown woman and I'm not one to tell woman how to conduct herself or her affairs. But I get worried about you. Always drifting off somewhere in that pretty head. Not watching yourself. Not wanting help. You have got to let me help you my darling. Yeah?"
You nod, kissing him to assure him that you are ok. He chuckles kissing you back. Pushing you to the dining room chair he teases you further, "Now my dear patient, it is imperative that you sit there and keep that hand elevated. Lots of rest of relaxation yeah?"
"Alfie! I have to finish dinner!"
"No I'm sorry treacle but it is the doctor's orders! Can't have you losing a finger next can we?"
You laugh and argue with him, eventually get him to compromise to allowing you to fill a pitcher with water and set the kettle on. No matter what the others of Camden said, they could never say that he wasn't a good man.

-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
though bailu said that she would tell her older brother, she in fact did not. about half an hour after she had sent ‘he’s gone !!! come over FAST !!!’ and made your way over, you heard the front door to the house unlock.
internally you were hoping it was their mom coming home from work, but a sliver of you also hoped it was dan heng.
even though your break up was a mutual one, it still stung, bad. the two of you agreed to try and avoid each other on campus, thinking it would make things easier for you but instead it made you feel emptier.
someone who you had talked to everyday for 2 years had become a stranger in the matter of seconds, he was a part of your routine and you were a part of his, the sudden removal of each other made it hard to accept.
which is why you were hoping it was him walking through that door. then when it was, that pinch of excitement you had quickly faded into anxiety as your stomach dropped when his face came into view.
it was the first time you had seen him in 7 months, he looked the same. same blue eyes, same beauty mark on his neck, same brown hair, but a bit shorter, did he get a haircut?
“oh.” is the first thing he said when he seen you.
oh? really? ‘oh’ is all you’re going to say?
“bailu, you said that you told him that i was coming over?” you turned to the girl.
“o-oh… i did? i must’ve forgotten to ask…” she stumbles out, pink flush creeping it’s way up the back of her neck to her cheeks. “i was going to ask him but he was already in his car when i was going to…”
you sigh, “it’s okay bai, i’m not mad at you. i think i might just leave though.”
“what?! no! please don’t leave, i’ve missed you so much, y/n.” there’s a tremble in bailu’s voice. “please.”
“you can stay,” dan heng interrupts. “i don’t mind.”
“you’re not uncomfortable?” you ask, looking up hesitantly. though you’re exes, you still care and respect him.
“yeah, it’s okay.” he gives you a quick smile. “i’ll just be in my room.”
“oh, uh, okay, thank you.” you sputter, feeling heat rise to your cheeks.
“no problem.” he says, and as you turn back around to look at bailu, you hear his feet pad heavily down the hall.
“you can’t do that again bailu, okay? i’ve missed you too, but it’s not fair to dan heng to have me be here without him knowing.”
“okay… i promise i won’t do it again. i just really missed you.” she mumbles.
“i’ve missed you too,” you sigh lightly and then change the subject. “so what movie did you want to watch? i think you’d like the princess diaries.”
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
during the first half of the movie, bailu was enthralled by it. but once you had been watching for half an hour, bailu let out her first yawn. then five minutes later, she let out another one, and then ten minutes later, she was passed out on her end of the couch.
you looked over and smiled at her sleeping form, then got up and covered her with the throw blanket you were occupying.
you stretched lightly, feeling the need to straighten out after lounging in the same position for a while, then picked up your empty cup of tea on the coffee table and made your way to the kitchen.
everything in the house was the exact same, considering how long you and dan heng have been broken up for, regardless if it’s felt like longer than it has been.
family photos litter the walls, photos of bailu and dan heng when they were babies, wedding photos, and dan heng’s graduation photo. you were in that photo, wearing a matching cap and gown with him and cheesy smiles.
making your way into the kitchen, you rinse your empty cup with water and think about why that picture was still up.
why didn’t they change it out?
too lost in your thoughts, you didn’t hear dan heng’s footsteps head towards the kitchen until you heard his voice.
“oh. sorry, i’ll just come back later.” he says, and goes to turn around.
“no! sorry, no it’s, um, it’s okay. i was just putting my cup in the sink. besides it’s your house, i’m just a guest in it.” you rush out.
“ah, okay,” he replies, making his way past you and grabs a glass out of one of the upper cabinets. “you know you’re not just a guest, right?”
“what do you mean?” you turn and ask, wanting to look at his eyes but breaking eye contact as soon as his eyes met yours.
“my mom and bailu love you, you’re basically family to them.”
“oh, but aren’t you uncomfortable?” you ask, though you wanted to also know what you were to him. were you family to him too? does he still love you?
“no. i’m not.” he says matter-of-factly.
“really?”
“really.”
“...”
“...”
the silence between the two of you was deafening but oddly, it wasn’t uncomfortable. it almost felt like the two of you had never broken up. like you were just talking in the kitchen during winter break as you had before, and it not being 7 months since the last time you talked.
“...i–” you start.
“can we talk about something?” he interrupts.
“yeah, what is it?” you ask.
dan heng gets up from where he was leaning against the counter, making his way over to the sliding glass doors to the backyard. “do you mind if we talk out here?”
“no, not at all.” you say.
dan heng motions for you to head out first, and you mumble a quick ‘thank you’ as you step out of the doors, with him following close behind you.
as you walk out, you’re met with the crisp autumn air. the coolness brushes against your cheeks as your eyes settle on the falling leaves of trees in his backyard.
he closes the doors as you sit down in one of the lounge chairs on the deck, then he makes his way over to sit in the one across from yours.
“so…” you play with the hem of your sweater, “what did you want to talk about?”
does he want to talk about us?
“i.. uh…” he starts. “how have you been?”
how have i been? that’s what he wants to ask?
“i’ve been fine, i guess? what about you?”
“i’ve been,” he clears his throat. “fine too. how were your midterms?”
“they went okay…?”
this is weird, you think.
“that’s good. i’m glad they went well.”
then the same silence from before is back, but this one is awkward, deafening. it takes up the air of the conversation and feels suffocating.
“so, what did you want to ask me, dan heng? or did you just want to catch up?” you question.
instead of answering your question, dan heng remains silent, his eyes meeting yours and then immediately looking away.
you let out a sigh as you stand up from where you were seated. that slightest bit of hope you held onto for the conversation about your relationship quickly dissipated.
“i think i’m just going to go, it’s getting late anyways and bailu has school tomorrow, right?” you say and walk to the sliding doors. “could you let her know that i paused the movie when she fell asleep? i don’t want her to wake up and get upset thinking that she missed the rest of i–”
“i’ve missed you.” he finally says.
you turn to look at him again, his back is facing towards you and his head is hanging low.
“what…?” you mumble quietly.
“i’ve missed you, and i think that we should try again.”
“really?” you say in disbelief. he had seemed so unbothered when he seen you for the first time earlier today. you had thought that you were the only one affected by seeing each other for the first time in months.
“i’ve been thinking about you non-stop since we broke up. and not being able to talk to you, see you, touch you, was horrible.” he breathes out. “i tried to stop thinking about you, but wherever i go, i get reminded of you.”
you walk back over and stand in front of him.
“i’ve missed you too. so much.” you admit.
“i’ve wanted to call you so many times, i’ve wanted to see you so badly. see your mom, bailu, you. i missed you so much, dan heng.” you croak out, feeling the sting of tears in your eyes as you try to hold them back.
dan heng stands up, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulls you closer. he rests his head in the crook of your neck, refamiliarizing himself with the smell of your perfume.
vanilla and cashmere, like always for the fall time he thinks.
when his arms crept around your waist, yours wrapped around his neck and you melted into his warmth again, it contrasting to the cool air of fall.
your hands play with the bottom locks of his hair as he pulls you impossibly tighter against him, afraid that if he lets you go, you’ll never come back.
when you pull back, you study his face again. the same blue eyes, same pouty lips, same beauty mark on his neck. the same dan heng.
“i like your haircut by the way” you giggle and a light smile spreads across his lips.
“yeah?” he says.
“yeah, it suits you.”

Dr. & Mr. Vettel
Tumblr media
Sebastian Vettel x Fem!Reader
Warnings: mentions of hospitals, alcohol and the consumption of, Seb gives reader a mini heart attack by accident (not really), fluffy soft husband Seb, top level cheesiness.
Word Count: 2.3k
Author’s Note: I was dancing around my kitchen and here we are. -- I know the time logicals don’t really work but go with it.
---
The shift ended an hour ago, you were laying on the couch in the lounge as you clicked through the tv. It was just past 2 in the morning and you were so sleepy but you refused to go home to the empty house again.
“Dr. V?” One of the nurses, Sammy, called for you when he noticed you on the couch. “Why are you still here? Your shift was done..” he glances at his watch, “like an hour ago.”
“I know,” you yawn, sitting up to sip on the now cold coffee. Sammy sits next to you on the couch. “Is he away this weekend?” He asks.
Nodding, you glance at your phone that was on your lap; a photo of you and Sebastian in Germany last summer. He's holding you and your legs are wrapped around his waist as you both laughed at something his brother said to you before he took the picture.
“From Singapore straight to Japan.”
“Oh man,” Sammy sinks back into the couch. “That sucks big time, Dr. V.”
“Tell me about it,” you sigh, running a hand down your face.
“Do you want me to stay with you?” Sammy offers but you shook your head, “you should go home. I’m sure Johnny is waiting for you.” You smiled, patting his leg.
“You should go home too. I don’t think Mr. V would want you killing yourself here just ‘cause he’s not home.”
Sammy gets up and walks to his locker, gathering his stuff. You mirror his actions, “how are you getting home?” You ask him from your side of the lockers.
“Probably the bus,” Sammy answers.
“Nonsense, I’ll drive. Took Seb’s Aston this morning.”
You had started at one pm today, your shift was from one pm to one am. Usually you liked to be done by ten pm and start at ten am so you did the full 12 but with Seb’s race, you pushed your start time; much like the race.
Seb placed P8 and you were beyond happy for him. You wanted nothing more than to hug him and kiss him but alas, you settled for a FaceTime call on the way to work.
Sammy made small talk with you as you drove him home, he also gave you the rundown about the other doctors and the gossip floating around the hospital because everyone knows nurses have the best gossip.
Johnny, Sammy’s husband, was waiting at the door for him when you pulled into the driveway. You wind down the window, “Thanks for the ride.” Sammy smiles when he gets out.
“No problem, I'll see you on Tuesday ?”
“Of course.”
“Hey Dr. V! Nice ride,” Johnny smiles, walking down to meet Sammy halfway. “Thank you!” You shout back, “you kids have fun!” You smile.
“I’m older than you!” Sammy shouts to you as you pull out the driveway.
It was only a 10 minute drive to your place from Sammy's if you took the direct route but because you were avoiding going home, you took the longer route which was double the time.
Your car was pulled into the garage seeing that you took Seb’s to work so you pulled in, parking next to yours.
You sit in the car for a few minutes, checking your phone and seeing what you missed during your shift.
It wasn't much, a few messages from some friends talking about Seb’s race and catching up for some drinks. You ignored all of them and texted Sebastian, it was almost ten am for him with the time difference opposed to your near three am.
To Seb: How’s Japan ? Send pics! Also, give Mick a hug for me.
To Seb: Love you, both of you lmao
You finally get yourself out of the car, walking into the house through the garage door and locked it behind you. You made your way into the basement to change out of your scrubs, you stripped off and tossed them into the washing machine. There’s a basket of folded clothes you’ve been neglecting to bring upstairs so you dig through until you find something to wear, which happened to be Seb’s shirt, one of his old Red Bull ones that he can’t seem to get rid of.
Heading upstairs again, you walk straight to the kitchen. You were home alone so there was no rush to get dressed or shower, plus to be quite honest, you hated sleeping alone.
Sebastian insisted on getting a king sized bed, even though you two sleep in each other's sides the whole night.
Most nights when Seb was away, you tried to work double shifts but if you couldn't, you slept on the couch; less space means less chance of you missing him during the night.
There’s a bottle of wine in the fridge and you were off tomorrow so you pour yourself a glass, setting it on the counter as you head over to switch on the tv. You search through the menu, clicking on Spotify and letting whatever playlist you had running before play.
Humming to yourself, you go back to the kitchen and with the glass in hand, you search the freezer for the sweets you knew you had in there. The box was buried behind a few other things but you found it eventually.
The little box of lava cakes sat on the counter, you turned on the oven and waited for it to heat up. Setting one of them onto a pan, you leaned on the counter as you waited.
Occasionally sipping on your wine, your forearms on the counter as you scrolled through your phone. Your hip bounced from side to side, matching the beat of the song playing.
The music was loud, you thought you were home alone so there was no one to bother.
You had also come through the garage door when you came in, meaning you didn’t see the white sneakers by the door; your husband’s sneakers.
Sebastian had changed his flight after your call to him. You looked so sad on the phone despite your happy tone of voice. He knew you missed him and he missed you too.
He had come home, even if it was just for 2 days; he missed you too much not to see you.
When he didn’t see your car in the driveway, he assumed you were at work. It didn’t even occur to him to check the garage. He was exhausted because of the time zone changes and went straight to bed when he got in.
He just figured you’d find him in bed.
Instead, he woke to music being played and the smell of something chocolaty. Sebastian very quietly made his way downstairs to find you standing in one of his t-shirts, dancing along to the music as you drank.
He leaned on the wall, arms folded across his chest and he watched you. He didn’t dare say a thing to you.
You had your back turned to him, leaning down to check on the dessert in the oven. You had the half empty glass in your hand, reaching into the freezer to get the ice cream and when you turned around to set the ice cream on the counter, both the glass and the container fell from your hand.
Seb bit back a laugh, watching the horror on your face go to relief. “Sebastian what the fuck?!” You sigh, your hand on your chest.
“Hi honey.” He smiles, walking over to you and you shake your head, now rubbing your eyes.
“I’m sleep deprived and it has to be the wine.” You tell yourself, trying to convince yourself that your husband wasn't actually there.
You bend down to pick up the tub of ice cream and you feel a hand land on your ass with a smack. You stand up and Seb’s chest pressed to your back and he wraps an arm around your torso.
“I’m here,” he tells you, kissing your shoulder. You turn around, your hands coming up to rest on his cheeks. “You’re here.”
“I am.” Sebastian smiles, kissing the palm of your hand.
“I- what, how are you here? I thought you were in Japan.”
Seb turns you, your back hitting the counter before he lifts you onto it. He bends down to pick the broken glass and you nudge his butt with your foot, making him laugh. “I took a flight, obviously baby.” He answers your question, being difficult.
“Haha,” you roll your eyes, “no but seriously. Mick told me you were there when he called earlier.”
“You talk to Mick?” Seb asks, tossing the glass in the trash. You nod, “he just called to say hi because I texted him after the race.”
“You two text?”
“We do but that is soooo not the point right now, Sebastian.”
“You looked sad,” Seb tells you, “on the phone, so I came home. I mean you know, that’s so bad for the environment.. all the traveling.” He waves his finger around in a circle before he shrugs, “but my love for you comes first.”
His words tug on your heart, you looked sad so he came home. He’d put himself through 3 different time zones just so he could spend a day or two with you.
Sometimes it’s hard for you to believe that the fluffy blonde haired, shy, jokester of a boy turned into the incredibly remarkable man standing in front of you.
You never forget why you married Sebastian but days like today were a reminder.
“How’d I get so lucky?” You ask, your hand on his cheek when he steps closer to you.
“I wonder the same thing.. you know, how you got so lucky.” He says with a smile which makes you laugh.
“Such a dork,” you give him a nudge, sliding off the counter to get the cake out the oven and Seb cleans up the spilt wine for you. You set the pan on the stove to cool down for a moment.
“Oh,” Sebastian sighs, looking over at you. “I love this song.” The opening notes of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli began to play.
“Our wedding song.” You hum, smiling at your husband.
The song became your wedding song by accident; the deejay lost the original set list you had given him and was winging it off what he could remember. You were trying not to send yourself into a panic attack so no one cared to mention to you that he wasn’t going to play the right song for your first dance.
Micheal took it upon himself to pick a song, stopping the deejay from looking for you because he thought it was better for you to not go to jail for murder on your wedding day.
He picked the first song that came to mind; also happened to be the same song you had danced to with Mick in their backyard earlier that summer. Mick had to be maybe 13 years old the year you and Sebastian got married, so Seb’s whole notion of you two texting wasn't weird at all because Mick was like a baby brother to you at this point.
That year was eventful besides the wedding, Sebastian won his third championship that year and you completed medical school.
“Dance with me,” Seb grabs your hand, spinning you around the kitchen.
You end up back in front of him, a hand on his shoulder and the other holding his free hand, Sebastian’s free hand rests on your back.
The two of you replicated the steps of your first dance perfectly, a little tradition you had for your anniversaries but today was just special for no reason in particular. When the song came to an end, Sebastian kissed you softly before letting you go.
You move away for a moment to get the cake and set the pan on the counter, you open the ice cream container and hand Seb a spoon. You hum, your craving for sweets satisfied by the cake.
“Wait,” you look over at him, “how long have you been home?”
“Got in around 10, figured you were at work and went to bed. I thought I'd surprise you in bed but you didn’t come upstairs.” He says between bites.
“Hm, sorry. I thought I was home alone.” You chuckled.
Seb smiles, reaching over to write away some of the chocolate from your face, “Happy anniversary,” he hums.
Your brows furrow, “our anniversary was in July.” You tell him, confused.
He nods, “I know, our wedding anniversary; but when did we start dating ?”
You think back, that was over 12 years ago. It was a long time to think back to be honest. Your parents were investors in Red Bull and you had joined them at a few races over the season in 2010. You met Sebastian in April and you two didn’t start seeing each other until August but only made things official in.. October.
“Seb,” you coo, “oh baby, you remembered?”
“How could I forget? You’re the woman of my dreams.” He smiles, a hand cupping your cheek.
“Even after I nearly had a heart attack just now and probably am in need of a shower?” You ask him, smiling at him.
Sebastian smiles, “The good and the bad, honey.”
“Good, I love you.” You tell him, your hand on his cheek before you kiss him. Sebastian’s tongue runs across his lips, “chocolate,” he hums, making you laugh.

*A DAY BEFORE THE 24th*
Being outside your house wishing your daughter goodbye is reminiscent of last year when the twins were here, your family was strongly bonded, and Suguru was alive.
Now a year later, Suguru is dead, the twins are gone too, and the family you built with Suguru is distant. Now you’re talking to your brother, hoping once again that you all make it back alive.
“You’re not feeling sick today are you?” You tease your daughter.
Albeit she looks at you lost, going completely unaware that you’re recalling last year when she pretended to be sick so you and Suguru could stay behind.
“No,” she deadpans and shoots you a weird look. “Now why can’t you come with me?”
You sigh and crouch down to be at her level. “Because I have to stay here and fight because I’m strong and I can do something to help.”
Satori looks down with a pout so you quickly grab her hands and tilt your head down. “But you know what? I’ll see you before you know it.”
Satori gently kicks away some dirt and mumbles, “that’s what daddy said and I never saw him again.”
Shit, shit.
“I know honey, I know this is hard, and it’s okay to feel sad, tomorrow is a year since we lost your dad. But I will make it back okay? We will see each other again, I promise.” You try to assure her, but she keeps her eyes down, causing you to feel a pang of anguish in your heart but for an idea also pop into your head. “I have something I want to give you.”
Satori’s eyes flicker up and you let her hands go to pull something cold out of your pocket.
“I wanted to give you this later on,” you let her know and grab her hand again. “But I think right now is more fitting.”
You open her palm and place a necklace with three rings hanging from it. “This,” you continue while a smile finally breaks onto her features. “Is the rings your dad and I used to wear. This,” you point to your engagement ring. “Is the ring your dad gave me when he asked me to marry him, next to it is the ring he put on me when we got married, and that one,” you point to a thicker gold ring. “That one is your dad's wedding ring. You get to keep that now. So when you get older you get to size it so it fits you or turn it into something else. The same goes for my rings.”
Satori picks up the rings and holds them up to take a better look at them.
“But what about you?” She asks and tries to slide on your old engagement ring, but her fingers are still too small. “Won’t you miss it?”
You laugh breathlessly. “No, I have one, don’t worry about me.”
Satori hangs the necklace around her head and tucks the rings in her shirt before offering you a smile. “Thank you.”
“You are welcome, now come here, so I can give you a big kiss…” you trail off the moment you capture her in an embrace and press kisses on her cheeks.
Satori giggles and squirms in your embrace. “No, no!”
You pull back and cup her cheeks. “Listen to me Satori, if you are ever in danger you can use your cursed technique okay? You can use any sword you make, okay?”
A flash of fear passes through her eyes, but you’re quick to push that fear away. “No, it’s okay; it doesn’t mean anything will happen, your uncles will be with you the entire time, and the community will too, so don’t worry I’m just letting you know.”
Satori lets out a deep breath and you caress her cheeks before giving her a sweet and assuring smile. “I love you,” you tell her from the bottom of your heart. “I’ll call you in the morning.”
“I love you too,” she redirects and grabs your cheeks too.
“I’ll call you before bed.”
You nod in agreement and then glance at Satoru in the distance before you lean in and whisper in your daughter's ear. “Go say goodbye to your uncle, and Choso.”
Satori nods eagerly before she breaks away from you and runs over to Satoru. “Uncle Satoru!” She exclaims. And like expected Satoru crouches to be closer to her level and waits with open arms.
When Satori gets close to him she jumps over to him, knowing for certain that she’ll be caught and not lose balance.
“You know what?” She interjects as Satoru stands up to his given height with her secured in his hold. “I know a secret.”
“Hm?” Satoru probes with a curious smile.
You watch them from a distance and Choso approaches you from behind to wrap his arm around your shoulders.
“You will win,” Satori lets Satoru know. “With your fight against Sukuna, you’ll win and bring Fushiguro home.”
Satoru blinks and his face slowly loses that teasing look that had been playing on his features, and a soft look slowly takes over.
“Oh? You think so?” He asks.
Satori nods. “Yes, because you’re strong. My Mommy and my Daddy always said you were the strongest sorcerer. And I believe you are strong too. That’s why I know you’ll win.”
Instead of smiling Satoru sighs and frowns before he brings up a genuine question. “And if I lose? Sukuna is strong too, what if I lose?”
Satori hums and averts her gaze for a moment before she grabs his cheeks and assures him. “Then you can all try again.”
Satoru’s lips pull to a smile and Satori whispers loudly. “But either way I will still think you’re strong, and I will still love you.”
Satoru’s eyes water and all he can do is nod in comprehension.
“I’ll miss you when I’m away,” Satori admits. “Don’t tell my friends but I think you’re my greatest friend.”
Satoru chuckles. “Your secret is safe with me.” He assures her and caresses the side of her head. “And you know what? When you miss me just look at the sky and remember that me and your mother are under the same sky, we see the same moon and the same sun.”
Satori lifts her head to look at the white clouds covering the blue sky with a smile she then shows off to her uncle. “Cool. Will you call me when the fight is over?” She asks.
Satoru sighs and doesn’t let her see his worry. “I'll try,” he assures her before he presses her against him to hug her tightly. “I love you Satori.”
Your daughter giggles and doesn’t hesitate to say it back. “I love you too, Uncle Satoru. I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Bye, Sugar.” He says sweetly before he puts her down, letting her walk to Choso, and letting you exhale deeply and then turn to face your family waiting for Satori to say her goodbyes to leave.
“We’ll take care of her,” Larue says as you approach him and the others.
“Okay,” you mumble and look at him, Miguel, Manami, and Toshihisa with a look you can’t keep hardened, no matter how unresolved your feelings are towards your family. “But call if something happens,” you tell them. “I’ll be there as quickly as I can.”
“You don’t have to worry,” Larue interjects. “You focus on winning this fight…I know we may not be close right now but we are still family,” he clarifies to you and the rest gathered behind them. “We will always be family no matter what.”
You can’t say you disagree with that. No matter how upset you still are you can’t forsake them.
“I would like to say I wish you could all stay,” you finally drift the subject away from formalities. “But I’m glad you’re all leaving. That way everyone is safe.”
“Careful or I'll think you’re caring about us,” Toshihisa blurts, making you scoff.
“We’re family above all else, idiot.” You snap back. “I care. But…I can’t forgive just yet. However, there’s no one else I trust to take care of Satori than all of you…” you pause and offer them a genuine smile. “So please keep her safe.”
Miguel grabs your shoulder and assures you. “They will. They’ll keep everyone safe.”
You let out a deep sigh and nod softly. “You’ll come back right?” You ask him after some plans changed.
Miguel nods. “I’ll just accompany them to where they’ll layover and come back right away.”
You wish he’d stay with them too, but this is how things have to be with strong sorcerers like him. “All right,” you mumble and glance at the others. “I'll call when the fight is over to say if we won or lost. If I don’t call in a week then…please always remind Satori why I had to stay back and fight.”
Larue frowns and wants to contradict you so you don’t worry, but you’ll fight harder to get your point across so he agrees.
“Goodbye everyone, and be careful, and don’t let Satori watch the broadcast, okay?”
Miguel and Larue offer you an assuring nod, and Manami and Toshihisa give you a small wave. You turn to face Satori and meet her gaze right away.
“Goodbye, Choso, goodbye Uncle Satoru!” She throws out over her shoulder as she comes running over to you followed by her Tiger cursed spirit companion.
When she reaches you you give her one more hug. “Listen to your uncle okay? And pick up the phone when I call. I love you, my chipmunk.”
Satori squeezes you back. “I love you too Mommy.”
You keep her in your arms for a moment longer and when you feel her start to squirm you pull back and grab her cheeks to stare at her for a lingering moment before you let her go.
“Bye, Satori.” Your voice quivers, but she doesn’t catch it.
“Bye Mommy,” she says back over her shoulder when she turns to head to the car. “Bye, Uncle Satoru! Bye, Choso!”
“Bye Satori!” Satoru shouts whilst Choso returns the goodbye in a quieter tone.
“Bye Satori.”
You watch with tear-filled eyes and a weight laying heavier on your heart as Satori loads up in the car with the rest of your family. When she’s no longer seen and the car starts to roll away you can't handle the anguish or hold that weight, your heart sinks, and tears stream down your eyes, revealing your anguish upon seeing your daughter having to leave once again because of the dangers happening in your world.
Once again your daughter has to leave with the fear of not knowing if she'll see you again. She doesn’t express it, but you know it’s something that creeps inside her, and it became a much more terrifying fear after she lost Suguru.
And once again you have to live apart and say goodbye without knowing how long you’ll go without seeing your daughter, you have to live with heightened self-loathing for having to send her away once again. However, once again Choso is here with you. The last time you said goodbye to your daughter it was through the phone, and Choso and you were simple allies. Now he’s your husband, and now he’s holding you against him as you watch the cars' view get blocked by buses carrying the rest of the people from your community.
The moment the last bus leaves the grounds and the gates close more streams of tears fall down your cheeks. Choso can’t see your face, but he knows you well, before he can even hear you sniffle or before you can say a single word he turns you around to face him.
“She’ll be safe,” he tries to assure you. “She’ll be far away, but she’ll be safe.”
You meet his gaze and only cry harder at the feeling of his comfort. Choso then wastes no time to press his hand over your heart and tilt his head down to meet your gaze.
“My love,” he whispers. “You’ll see each other again.”
You slowly raise your hand and gently cup the back of his hand.
“I don’t want her to hate me,” you share a deep fear. “If I somehow lose I don’t want her to think I left her on purpose.”
Choso shakes his head. “You won’t lose,” he sets the record straight—or really he manifests that you won’t die tomorrow if Satoru somehow loses.
“…and she won’t hate you. You’ll reunite,” he says softly. “She’ll only hear how brave her mother was.”
You share a breathless laugh and then let out a deep breath that helps you relax your shoulders.
“Come here,” he whispers and pulls gently on your arm to wrap you in an embrace.
——
*LATER*
“I didn’t want to send her away, I hope you know that,” you whisper to the hibiscus plant to indirectly talk to Suguru without being heard or seen from those inside the house.
You’re not embarrassed, you’d just prefer to talk to your dead…husband? Ex-husband? What would he be now that you’re married?
Hm.
Nevertheless, you’d prefer to talk to him without anyone listening in.
“…But I also can’t risk letting anything happen to her,” you continue and feed the plant more water. “I hope that doesn’t upset you. I know we told ourselves we wouldn’t let Satori spend too much time without us. That’s not the parents we’d be, but…” you pause and sigh deeply. “It’s hard now with all this mess going on. I’m sorry.” You drop your head and hopelessly wait for a response. You knew you wouldn’t get one, but in the back of your head, you still leave silence to wait.
When the silence prolongs you lift your head and stare at the hibernating plant with longing to see Suguru in front of you instead of a mere plant so he can talk to you. So he can tell you that you’re stressing yourself out too much. Choso tells you, he gives you comfort and you appreciate it and him, but he’s not Satori’s father, he agrees with every choice you make about her. He doesn’t have the same wisdom, he won’t argue against you about the choices you make about sending your daughter away, he’s…not Suguru.
“…I’ll leave you be now,” you whisper. “Wish me luck.”
You get off the floor with the equipment you were using. When you reach the corner of the greenhouse you put away the equipment and take your gloves off to put them away before you wash your hands. You had brought your horse out so she could roam while you were outside; so you look out the window in search of her. And much to your surprise she’s not far, but you catch Kashimo watching her from up close.
So if Kashimo is here that means Hakari, Kirara, and Shoko are here too, and they didn’t bother to come looking for you.
Whatever!
You walk out after you change back into your riding boots, and immediately catch Kashimo’s attention.
“Oh wow,” he interjects nonchalantly. “Did he bore you already?”
You shoot him a pointed look and roll your eyes before you snap back. “Well, considering what we’re going to do tomorrow there’s no time for an actual honeymoon.”
Kashimo scoffs and shocks you by smirking at you. “You know I like—no,” he says. “I bask in all of the doubt you all have on Gojo.”
You lift a brow and tease him. “Which Gojo?”
He shoots you a dirty look before remarking. “You know who. Anyway, I’m glad you all doubt your brother's inability to win it means I will get to—”
“Kill yourself fighting your true love,” you mock him and touch your chest to feign swooning. “How romantic. You know I wish someone would let a lunatic bring them back after 400 years just to see me.”
Kashimo exhales through his nose out of frustration, so you chuckle whilst you walk past him to take your horse's lead and walk her back to the barn.
“Coming to fight the King of Curses is not a joke, I have reserved my cursed technique to use on the only opponent worthy of it.”
You peer at him over your shoulder and notice that he’s following you so you scoff at him and shake your head before you don’t hold back from sharing what you’re thinking. “Wasting your whole life chasing after death is pretty stupid. Did you even live your life?”
“I died an old man,” he grumbles.
You shrug and shake your head once again in disapproval. “And I admire you for it, I want to die old and wrinkly too, but what did you do throughout it? You spent your life unsatisfied because no one measured up to that monster…that sounds pretty pathetic…” you trail off in a whisper and let go of your horse's lead to pet her mane while she follows at your side.
“Oh please,” he retorts. “You sound just…” he trails off and you of course get curious over what he didn't say, but you’ve gotten to know him and he won’t budge and say anything even if you plead, so you just leave it be.
Even if not knowing will probably bother you.
“I had a life,” he throws out to try and prove you wrong. “I had a wife…she was dull though.”
You glare at him over your shoulder and shake your head. “How typical of you to say that,” you mutter between gritted teeth.
Kashimo shrugs with nonchalance. “What?” He retorts. “It was an arranged marriage. She was dull. Don’t tell me that you wouldn't say that about someone. I bet you’ve met some pretty dull woman in your line of work.”
You scrunch your nose and counter immediately. “No! All the women I’ve met in my line of work are hard-working, you don’t know what they have to go through to run down those runaways or pose for those photoshoots. They don’t all have the privilege of having money like me. Asshole.”
Kashimo doesn’t flinch at the insult and just crosses his arms over his chest and frowns deeper. “Okay then…” he trails off and mumbles something under his breath you don’t catch or get to question before he’s interjecting. “You're a Gojo, I’m sure you were arranged to someone.”
A smile tugs on your lips and you slow down to fall by his side and share about the man that almost was your husband. “Actually yes, Naoya Zen’in. He was misogynistic, and he liked to belittle me.”
Kashimo huffs and looks at you with pride. “Exactly so you can’t say shit.”
You smirk at him and hesitate showing off. “I actually beat him up with the help of Choso. We jumped him, and I shut him up.” You say proudly and bounce your shoulders. “And, I’m proud to say this, I sent a picture of him to his brothers looking all pathetic on the ground.”
A smirk flickers on the corner of his lips but he doesn’t show it for more than a second. “Why didn’t you just kill him?” He remarks.
You sigh dramatically. “It would be too much work. It was after Shibuya, I was hiding and going through different emotions so I didn’t want to deal with Zen’in’s seeking revenge.”
“You’re special grade though,” he points out. “You think they would’ve given you trouble?”
You meet his gaze and shake your head. “No. But again, I was going through stuff, and we were dealing with a hundred other things, so, it would’ve just been an inconvenience.”
Kashimo hums and you add on. “Naoya is dead so it doesn’t matter anymore either way.”
You reach the barn so you slide the lead off the horse and watch her walk into her stall before you reunite with Kashimo outside by the fence.
“I’m not doubting my brother by the way,” you make yourself clear since you couldn’t defend yourself before. “I just know tomorrow will be hard. I don’t want to build some illusion and only get hurt more if something bad were to happen, so I’m just preparing myself, everyone is.”
Kashimo keeps his eyes on the other horses grazing on the large field, but you both then glance at your beautiful black and white horse walking out of her stall to join the others.
“But it also doesn’t mean we’re not hoping you won’t fight,” you add and let your lips pull on a smile for him. “If you want to live out your dream and show off your technique then I’m excited to see what you’re hiding. So if you tag in for Satoru to let him take a break then that will be pretty cool.”
Kashimo turns his head, and when you see his gaze on you from the corner of your eyes you lean forward to fold your arms over the wooden fence before you slowly turn your head to look at him.
“I’m still hoping you’ll win though so I don’t have to fight him,” you continue in his silence. “But please if the fight does fall on you, kill Sukuna after we have killed Kenjaku, okay? That way we catch him by surprise like we want to.”
Kashimo sighs and shakes his head in disapproval. “If you’re not fast then I don’t know what to tell you,” he says bluntly, making you groan and push yourself off the fence to turn and face him.
“You know what? I hope my brother wins and you're left salivating over a what-if scenario with Sukuna,” you quip and shoot him a feigned sweet smile before you turn on your heels and start to walk back inside.
Kashimo doesn’t want to be left alone since your community is deserted now and slowly tows behind you.
“Don’t get disappointed when Sukuna rejects you,” you tease Kashimo, making him kick a small rock at your back.
Instead of being bugged by the action you laugh mockingly for too long before you join his silence.
Eventually when you get inside you walk to the parlor room where everyone seems to be. You can hear laughs and conversations, however, before you can turn toward the room you spot Shoko and Satoru outside. And the decision is clear, you join them on the back porch whilst Kashimo joins the others.
“Where have you been?” Satoru asks the moment you step outside. “Did you make my dinner yet?”
You raise a brow and scoff before you sit down by Shoko on the bench. “What are you doing outside?” You ask.
Shoko shrugs. “Just letting the students be and reminiscing about our youthful past.”
You laugh softly and pull your boots off before you tuck your feet under her thighs to keep them warm.
“It’s good when you’re around,” Shoko adds while she kills her cigarette. “It keeps me from smoking.”
You yawn and lay back on the cushions under you. “It’s good I’m pregnant that way I can stop smoking.”
“I have a name for one of your babies,” Satoru interjects. “Satoru the Second.”
You loll your head to the side and shoot him a pointed look. “I am not naming my child Satoru the Second. Satori was only given her name because Suguru liked it so much. I was going to name her Fumiko, which means hibiscus and beautiful child.”
Satoru puts his thumbs down and you ignore him to add another comment. “I’m actually not naming my children after anyone. I already told Choso that. We have too many people to choose from and I don’t want anyone to feel left out, so we’re not honoring anyone.”
“Well,” Satoru adds lazily as he lays back on the hammock. “Half of those people are dead so no one will know.”
“I’ll know,” you quickly rebuttal. “So if you have any name suggestions besides Satoru the Second, I will Iove to hear them. Choso and I will take it under consideration.” You smile sweetly at the ceiling.
“Is it okay if I name my cat Satoru the Second?” Shoko interjects “I want to get a cat after all this, someone to keep me company while I work. And I think cats with funny names are the cutest.”
You snort and Satoru remarks. “Hey!”
“The barn cat just had a litter of kittens,” you mention and wrap your arms over your chest to hug yourself as you feel a chill go down your spine and spread little goosebumps everywhere. “Take one when they’re big enough.”
Shoko pats your leg as a thank you before she says it. “Oh really thanks, that saves me a thousand bucks.”
“What?” Satoru teases. “You were going to get a thousand-dollar cat?”
“Yes,” she agrees right away. “I wanted one of those hairless cats to go with the funny name.”
You chortle and point at Satoru.
Your brother notices and swings the hammock towards you to slam the side of your thigh with his foot.
“You're so gross,” you snap back. “Your foot stinks.
“Untrue!” He quickly rebuttals. “I take good care of my feet.”
“Do you guys remember that game we used to play before you all went on big missions,” Shoko cuts in before Satoru and you can start going on and on just arguing. “The one where we told the worst thing that could happen and something we want to do after?”
You think for a moment to recall back to your high school days.
However, just as the memory hits you before you can say a thing Satoru blurts. “Yes, I remember! You made it up even though you hardly went on missions.”
“Hm, I know, but it was cool for you guys, no?” She asks.
You nod and hug yourself tighter before you take your phone out as you respond. “Yes, it was, so let’s play it now. You go first.”
You then text Choso since you don’t want to suffer through this bitterness any longer.
You to Choso: Could you bring me a blanket? I’m out on the back porch.
“Okay, well, the worst thing that could happen to me,” Shoko muses and lays back to tilt her head over the headrest. “Maybe lose my sense of taste.”
You laugh and check your phone as a message comes in.
Choso: Of course. Do you want a specific one?
You: no, any, please and thank you xoxo
“Sense of taste now how could you—”
“Eh!” Shoko cuts him off sharply. “No you don’t get to judge, remember?! Now I will answer your question.” She says and lets out a small breath before sharing her reasoning. “I would hate to lose my sense of taste because how am I supposed to drink? Tasting is a huge reason why anyone drinks, I mean if I can’t taste it I’d just get drunk on nothing-tasting liquid. It wouldn’t be fun.”
You chuckle and can’t help but agree. “That’s true I mean, especially when it comes to tropical drinks. I love those.”
“Exactly!”
Without saying anything Satoru just groans in a very specific judgy way.
“And you already know what I want to do after so Satoru go on,” Shoko encourages him. And without a moment to think about his response he blurts.
“I'd hate to lose my ability to speak, I have so much on my mind, and how could I bless people with my voice if I don't have it?! Oh and karaoke?”
You roll your eyes and snicker before you quip. “I would for one wouldn’t mind a mute brother. No more nagging voice.”
“Yeah,” Shoko agrees thoughtfully. “Silence at work would be wonderful.”
“Whatever, whatever,” Satoru doesn’t let either of you bother him. “Now what do I want to do after?” He trails off humming, and the door then opens.
You sit up and when you look back you see none other than Choso with a blanket.
“Here,” he says and walks over to hand you the blanket.
“Thank you,” you tell him with a sweet smile.
Choso nods and just as he’s about to turn to walk back inside you grab his wrist and pull him back to you. “Stay,” you suggest—or demand more like. “Leave the kids to…do whatever amongst themselves.”
Choso glances at Shoko and then at Satoru before letting his eyes fall back on you to express clear distress. “Are you sure? I don’t want to intrude,” he says, making you flash him a grin.
“Yes, I'm sure, we’re just hanging out,” you assure him.
Choso still seems unsure, and as Shoko sees that, she interjects to ease his concern. “You’re family now Choso, you don’t have to worry about intruding anything, plus this is your house now too, so you’re more than welcome.”
Choso still glances back at your brother with hesitation.
“He’s working out his mind by thinking of a response, you have to give him a minute,” you let Choso know. “But he won’t mind, now sit.”
Choso meets your gaze and holds it for a moment as he debates with himself before he decides to turn and sit down beside you, letting you lay down to rest your head on his lap while you cover your legs and Shoko’s lap with the blanket.
“Okay, Cho, we’re playing a game,” you let him know. “It’s something we’d play back in high school, just before we’d go on missions. You have to say the worst thing that can happen to you in that mission, but it can’t be anything depressing. And then you have to share something you want to do after, again nothing too depressing. It's just for fun.”
“Okay,” Choso rolls out as he thinks about the concept of the game.
“Shoko said that the worst thing for her would be to lose her sense of taste, and she wants to get a cat after this ordeal is over,” you share so he can understand better and have no questions. “And Satoru said something stupid like losing his ability to speak, he’s thinking of the next response, which!” You direct at Satoru loudly now. “He needs to hurry up and do!”
“No,” Satoru finally says. “Come back to me. I can’t make up my mind. You put me on the spot. You go next.”
You sigh and roll your eyes back to look at Choso. “You go,” you drift the attention to him. “I’ll go after. Remember, you don’t have to think too hard.”
Choso holds your gaze and lets out a deep breath before he spares a short glance at the others. “Well, I suppose the worst thing would be losing my sight. I wouldn’t be able to see the ones I love.”
You grin and nod. “Sweet,” you compliment him.
“A lot more humble than Satoru over there,” Shoko teases.
“Mhm-mm.”
“It's true, I can’t lie,” Satoru simply says.
“Whatever,” you interject and look back at your husband. “Now the next question.”
Choso nods softly and drops his head to hide the blush furiously growing on his cheeks. “Well this will be sappy, but I would like to make it to the twin's appointment scheduled in January. I want to hear their heartbeats, and I want to see if they’re growing okay.”
You flash him a toothy grin and can’t help but grab his arm to extend it out over you so you can nuzzle against it. “I love that response.” You coo, making him look at you and smile.
“Now you,” Shoko nudges your legs.
You smirk at the ceiling and immediately respond to the first question. “The worst thing that could happen is losing my hair. I love my white hair,” you share. “And I enjoy maintaining it.”
“Now how—”
“Shut up,” you cut your brother off before he can say some judgy remark. “Now, something I want to do, easy, ice skate!” You exclaim. “The lake freezes to the point you can ice skate on it in the winter, so that’s something I hope I can do.”
“If only you had the ability to do that,” Satoru mutters.
You sigh and nod. “If only. I’m a good Ice skater.”
Who are you kidding? Suguru would always need to hold your hand. But you like to pretend you can ice skate like those figure ice skaters on TV!
“Choso,” Satoru calls out, causing said man to stiffen and snap his eyes across from him—“I have an idea for a baby name. If there’s a boy, name him Satoru the Second!”
You pass Choso an amused look and just smile to wait for his response.
“Well,” Choso lets out slowly. “Y/N and I already decided that we aren’t going to name the twins after anyone we know.”
“And he doesn’t like it,” you interject for him.
Satoru looks over with a pointed gaze and Choso nods. “And I don’t like it,” he admits, making you laugh.
Satoru stays quiet so you nudge Shoko with your toe to remind him of who will take that name. “Plus Shoko’s cat will be named that.”
In Satoru’s silence, he chooses to take off his sock and throw it over at you. And since he doesn’t miss, the sock hits your face.
“What the—”
When you realize what hit you you start gagging dramatically, causing Satoru to burst out laughing. Which does trigger you, so you swiftly climb off the bench.
“Here we go,” Shoko mutters and watches you get ahold of Satoru’s hair and arm to drag him off the hammock so you can start hitting him.
Rather than trying to defend himself, Satoru starts laughing maniacally.
“Don’t worry,” Shoko tells Choso as he watches you and your brother with concern over the way you both act—“he usually doesn’t fight back. When he does it’s just playful.”
“Hm.”
“I told you I hate when you do that, why do you have to be such a boy!” You remark as you start shaking him.
The back door opens without you realizing and Yuji, Hakari, Kirara, and Kashimo walk out to see what’s going on.
“My money is on y/n,” you catch someone say. And when you look over your shoulder you see that it was Hakari.
“There’s nothing to bet on,” you say and let Satoru go to step back. “I’m done.” You huff and straighten out your sweater before you turn on your heels. “Now why don’t we go start dinner? And maybe watch something in the meanwhile.”
You walk off and Yuji mumbles, “that’s why I’m glad I don’t have a sister.”
Satoru chuckles. “She’s just easy to piss off.”
How is it easy to avoid thinking about the bad things that are going to happen? Is it because you’re already anticipating it and you know there’s no way around it?
Is that why it was so easy to enjoy the rest of the evening as if the next day you aren’t going to watch Satoru fight the strongest Sorcerer in history, or even participate in fighting that enemy yourself too?
Because it was easy, forgetting, making good memories with Kirara and Hakari, bonding with Choso and Yuji, and mending your relationship with Shoko and Satoru—oh, and forming a new friendship with Kashimo.
It was great, sweet, and for a minute, for a while, for a sweet moment you started to believe that nothing was going to happen, but then when the silence intervened while you were in bed it all came rushing back.
However, you keep trying to avoid it. “What will we tell the twins, or any of our other potential children when they ask how we met?” You can’t help but ask Choso while you get your gaze lost on the ceiling, and he closes his eyes.
“Oh yeah we met in Shibuya,” you pretend to quote lightheartedly. “Your father tried to kill me?”
“You were in my way,” he deadpans, making you pick your head off the pillow to turn it and look at him with an amused smile.
“Oh really? How romantic,” you coo. “But we can also say it this way; I saw your father when he was facing your uncle Satoru, he looked back at me and I said wow what a handsome man. It was love at first sight.”
Choso scoffs and peels one eye open to look at you with a slight smile.
You shrug and lean towards him to rest your hand on his chest and start caressing his skin under the blanket. “What?” You probe. “It was either you or volcano head. But he had anger issues, so maybe your father.”
Choso now peels both eyes open and shoots you a faint pointed look.
You laugh and go on messing with him. “Albeit considering his last choice in a romantic partner I think I wouldn't be his type—Ah!” You snap your fingers. “My brother could’ve been his type, he could’ve lived out his gay fantasy with Suguru’s body.”
Choso snorts.
“Should we send your father a card that says “congratulations you’re going to be a grandfather?” You ask Choso as a joke.
However, he can’t see it so lightheartedly. “No,” he mutters. “I won’t tell him anything. I won’t tell our kids about him either unless they ask. He deserves no recognition from me or my family.”
Your smile turns faint and you slither your hand up to cup his cheek and tilt his head your way. “After tomorrow he hopefully won’t be a problem anymore. I’ll bring you his brain so you can burn it or squish it, I don’t know. But tomorrow all he’ll be is a bad memory. I swear.”
The corner of Choso’s lips tug to a smile and he grabs your hand and plants a kiss on the heel of your hand before he whispers. “I know you’ll take care of it.”
He didn’t say it but you knew his father still being alive stresses him out because of the babies you’re expecting. Neither of you know what to expect from Kenjaku, especially if he were to find out his eldest son was expecting twins, and Choso fears that his father would somehow hurt you and in turn hurt your twins just to hurt him.
“Now,” you smoothly change the subject. “What will we tell our kids?”
Choso smiles softly. “The truth about how we met. I am not ashamed to say that I lost against you.”
You giggle and lean in closer to talk against his lips. “I told you I did not want to kill you, and good thing I didn't. Look at us.”
“Hm,” he coos softly. “Albeit Shibuya isn’t when we met for the first time. We met last year when you picked up my capsule.”
You hold his gaze and feel your smile soften as you grow enamored. “That’s right,” you whisper.
“But I suppose we can keep that story to ourselves,” he says and presses his forehead against yours.
“Choso,” you murmur as you’re lost in the intimacy of the moment. “I'm scared for tomorrow. I…don’t want to lose my brother, or you, or anyone else. I don’t want to go into tomorrow because it means we’ll have to face that unavoidable battle.”
Choso sighs and keeps you pressed against him. “I’m sorry I can’t reassure you that everyone will live because I don’t know tomorrow, but…doesn’t it make you feel better to know that everyone, especially your brother, will fight bravely to bring some form of peace?”
“I don’t want to be used to losing people,” you admit with a stinging throbbing in your throat. “I don’t want to be alone.”
You pull back and face him with your eyes gleaming with tears and your lips formed into a soft frown. If he could explain this expression he’d say it was a beautiful sadness, one poets would write sonnets about, a beautiful sadness artists would paint on their canvas.
“You won’t be alone,” he whispers to try and assure you.
“Do you swear?” You make a stupid promise out of fear. And he hesitates knowing he should let you down and not feed into your illusion, but he can’t help it when you look at him with those eyes full of tears.
“I swear.”
Choso wipes away the tears that slip down your cheeks and leans in to press a gentle kiss on your lips.
You kiss him back slowly to cherish that sweet taste of his lips before you try to sleep.
Will it come easy though?
Considering your current state you do feel that sometimes you get more exhausted a lot sooner so it lets you fall asleep fast, but what about this night?
You can feel your mind racing. It’s loud and annoying, and it makes you toss and turn, so you try and find the best position.
But you can’t!
So after a while, you open your eyes. However, instead of waking up in your room and looking at the ceiling, you wake somewhere else, but not somewhere strange….
You’re looking out some windows watching the rain fall, and hearing its gentle melody as it hits the earth outside the cozy and warm room you’re in. You don’t hear Choso’s gentle snores or the silence of the night outside your bedroom windows.
So where are you exactly?
You’re almost too afraid to look around, but you can’t stay in the dark forever so you slowly start turning your head, but you come to a quick stop when you see your long-dead best friend Haibara.
“This rain ruins our plans, but staying here and just hanging out is a good alternative,” he interjects and startles you. “Good thinking, y/n.”
You part your lips to respond but only a small gasp of air comes out.
“Staying indoors drove her insane,” Nanami, yes, that’s Nanami, he quips. And when you snap your head in the direction where his voice comes from you see him too, young in appearance just like Haibara, and wearing only part of his school uniform. He’s lounging indoors so his coat is off.
“Nanamin,” you mutter in disbelief.
Said man shoots you a pointed look and snaps back. “I told you to stop calling me that.”
You share a breathless laugh and stare at him for a lingering moment before someone else steals all your attention.
Suguru. He’s young Just like the other two. His hair is short and in a bun, he also isn’t as muscular. He’s his high school self. They all are.
“Suguru,” you whisper happily
Said man’s dark eyes fall on you and he looks at you perplexed before he raises the mugs in his hands. “Don’t worry It’s how you like it. I didn't forget. Now come on, sit with me before Satoru takes your spot.”
“Please refrain from fighting tonight,” Nanami already pleads in annoyance.
“Okay,” you go along with this…dream? Your surroundings aren’t clear, but they’re not too blurry either so that’s what makes it hard to tell. All you know is that this isn’t real. But you want it to be.
“…and I said that sounds stupid,” the voice of your brother begins to travel out the hall, so you stand up and quickly take a seat next to Suguru and let him hand you your cup of tea.
“What?” He asks as he doesn't need to ask you what you’re feeling. He sees your confusion and the anguish on your face.
“Where am I?” You have to ask.
However, Suguru laughs softly. “Here,” he retorts.
“Hm.”
Well, that wasn’t helpful whatsoever.
“…then please share any ideas you have,” you hear Shoko exclaim out of frustration before she and your brother walk into the room.
“Well,” Satoru stammers. “I will get back to you on that, but that beginning is stupid.”
Wait…you remember this now—or parts of this. This is some kind of memory. Only it’s a dream and memory hybrid, your mind is playing tricks on you while you sleep.
“Make some room!” Satoru exclaims and rushes over towards Suguru and you, but Suguru wraps his arm around you and pulls you towards him to close the gap between the two of you before Satoru can squeeze in between.
“No, sit by Shoko or Nanami—”
“No,” Nanami cuts him off before he can finish. “You move too much Satoru, sit somewhere else.”
You watch them all in awe, without saying a single word. You’re just too amazed by the power your mind holds as you try to avoid even thinking about what’s to come. It’s like it’s building you an escape.
“Y/N,” Satoru calls out and sits up with a smirk on his face. “Do you want to hear the start of our partner presentation?”
You make no remark like you did in that real day, years ago, this time you smile and nod. Even if your brother is alive, you still look at him and answer with starstruck wonder. “Yes, go ahead.”
Satoru parts his lips and draws in a breath to speak, but he then shuts his mouth and lowers his shades to narrow his gaze on you.
“No remarks?” He points out. “What's wrong with you?”
Your smile falls and that anguish is clear as day on your face for everyone to see.
“Is this about tomorrow?” Haibara asks the right question.
“Choso is right,” Suguru catches you by surprise by interjecting. “Isn’t it enough to know everyone will fight bravely for peace?”
You instinctively look down at your hand and see your engagement ring and your wedding band on your finger and think about the man you love beyond the tether of this dream. You think about forcing yourself to wake up to cuddle against him and find comfort in his presence, his warmth, and the sound of his heart beating, but as you take a look at all your friends, your brother, and Suguru, your sorrow heightens and you find a stronger need to stay.
But, you can’t hold in the truth hiding inside you a moment longer as you do stay in your fantasy dream. “I’m just…tired,” you confess and drop your head. “I’m tired of fighting, and I’m tired of grieving. I…don’t want to lose any more people I love. I don’t want to fight. I’m tired. Can’t I just stay here?”
“No,” Shoko immediately says back. “Not when people are relying on you.”
“And not when those relying on you are the same people you said you were fighting a future for,” Suguru interjects and steals your breath as you remember that truth.
Fighting for the future of the next generation was always present, but through your fear of losing the ones you love and ending up alone, your goals were clouded. Now though, it’s like getting splashed by cold water, but…you don’t want to let go of Suguru, Nanami, or Haibara now.
“But if I go I won’t see either of you again,” you share in a quivering voice and lift your head to look back at your friends, but as you do, you gasp when you see the top half of Nanami’s body is gone, like when you found him that night. And just like then it’s terrifying now. So you snap your head away, but then you come across Haibara gushing blood out of his giant gash on his torso, causing memories of his death to violently flash through your mind.
Memories that you don’t want to live through again so shut your eyes and turn your head away.
“Y/N?” Suguru asks and grabs your shoulder.
Albeit you don’t respond, you know better. You can’t look and relive the worst day of your life.
“Look at me, darling,” he tries to persuade you to open your eyes. “It’s okay.”
You just need to wake up.
Just wake up.
“Look,” Suguru calls out again and slides his hand up to cup your cheek. “It’s okay.”
It’s the softness of his voice, a voice you miss that makes you slowly open your eyes.
Alas just like before you’re struck with horror when you see Suguru’s arm missing and his wound bleeding, and half of his face covered in blood with one eye unable to open.
“This is fake!” You shout and shut your eyes. “This is a dream!”
It’s all fake, you keep repeating to yourself. It’s a dream.
You just need to open your eyes.
Open your eyes, open your eyes!
“Y/N?” A different voice calls, rougher than the rest, clearer too, so you slowly open your eyes and the first thing you see is Choso, and then you notice you’re in the dark in your shared room.
“Choso,” you say breathlessly.
A few beams of light from outside casts in so you’re able to see the deep concern on his face. “Are you okay? You were crying and jumping.” He says.
You process that you’re safe and no longer in your dream so you take a deep breath first before you nod and assure Choso. “Yeah, it’s just a bad dream. The anxiety of tomorrow got to me, sorry.”
Choso shakes his head softly. “It’s okay, just go back to sleep, okay? I’m here.”
You offer him a gentle smile and pull the blanket up to your chin. “Goodnight, Cho,” you whisper.
He smiles tiredly at you and redirects your comment. “Goodnight.”
You keep a distance since you know it’ll take a while to fall back asleep after your nightmare and you don’t want to disturb him. Which is annoying for you because you hate having a hard time sleeping. It just makes the night terribly long, and the shadows like to mess with you when you can’t fall asleep fast.
Albeit this time you don’t mind because you watch Choso sleeping on his side, and realize perhaps you were too quick to pick your dream over reality. The reality of your husband's soft and small lashes resting on his purple-tinted under eyes, his dark brown hair falling over his face, and his relaxed lips is better than any dream.
You honestly could stay up all night just watching him sleep, he looks beautiful just peaceful resting, but you can’t help anyone if you don’t get some shut-eye and dream anxiety-riddled dreams, so as your eyes get heavy you drag yourself towards Choso and slide your arms around him to nuzzle yourself against the warmth of his body.
He seems to feel you against him (perhaps because he’s a light sleeper) and slings his arm over your neck to cup the back of your head and press it against his chest to the point you can find comfort in the rhythm of his heartbeats, and fall asleep fast.
——
*THE NEXT DAY*
“Here,” you help your brother try and put his last robe on, but he turns back slightly and snatches it from your hand.
“Don't pamper me, I'm not a child,” he snaps and slides on a white robe that completes his outfit for the fight against Sukuna.
You raise your hands in your defense and step back whilst you mutter, “I’m sorry.”
Satoru sighs and turns to face you with a reassuring look. “Are you really doubting me that much?” He says.
You scoff and shake your head. “No!” You defend yourself. “I'm just worried that’s all. Can’t I?”
Satoru shakes his head and smirks as he rests his hand on his hip. “No, I’m strong. I’m the strongest, I will win.”
You hold his gaze and can’t get rid of the worry, it’s too deeply tangled in your heart. But his overconfidence does make you smile with some ease.
“Besides I plan to witness all nine months of your pregnancy, who knows, maybe me and Choso will become good friends,” he says lightheartedly. “And I do want to meet my nieces or nephews, or whatever comes out of you.”
You laugh softly at his comment, but you can’t stay comfortably reassured for long, your face falls and expresses your fear for his life. Satoru notices and no matter how hard he tries to ignore your anguish that made his heart hurt, he can’t when you look so fearful and worried. It’s the brother in him that can’t keep ignoring it.
“Look,” he whispers and closes the gap between you to grab your cheeks. “I’ll fight hard. I’ll give him all I got and make it back. I’ll win.”
“I have faith you will,” you make yourself known. “But…I get scared thinking of living my life without my brother.”
Satoru swallows thickly knowing he can’t genuinely promise he will live. And he most of all can’t make the same promise he made to you when you were little kids.
“I will fight hard to win,” he says because that's all he can offer you.
“You swear?” You ask in a shaky voice.
Satoru nods. “I swear.”
You muster a wobbly smile and then quickly throw your arms around him to hold him in an embrace. “I love you,” you remind him.
Satoru hugs you back and squeezes you gently as he whispers back. “I love you too.”
You hug him tighter hoping that by some miracle you won’t have to let go.
But you do, and when you pull away you do so slowly.
“Kill that bastard,” you say with more confidence.
Satoru smirks and nods. “I will.”
You draw out a deep breath as you hold his gaze as if trying to memorize every detail of his bright blue eyes, and his face for just in case.
“Y/N,” he mumbles with a soft smile. “Promise you’ll be happy. Live your life and don’t stop living it because of me. Be what our parents couldn't be to you, to your kids, and just be happy. That’s all I want for you.”
You draw in a shaky breath but you stop yourself from shedding tears and instead smile at him and nod.
“Now come on,” he adds teasingly. “I don’t want to be late.”
You huff and shoot him a judgy look before you walk out of the room, not realizing he had lingered behind with Utathime and old man Gakuganji until you reach the top of the stairs and realize that no one is behind you.
The room below you though doesn’t seem to care that you aren’t Satoru, they all fall silent and tense as they know they’re moments away from seeing the man who could defeat a great evil or be destroyed by him.
And knowing you have everyone’s attention, you don’t show your ever-so-growing anxiety and instead show your students below a serious confidence that only adds more tension to the already tense room.
Which is why the silence isn’t broken when you descend the stairs. Besides, your students and the others seem to be brainstorming hard about something. They almost look mischievous.
“What are they up to?” You ask Choso when you reach him.
Choso follows your line of gaze and shrugs. “I don’t know, they've been discussing something for a while now.”
“Maybe they’re planning their escape,” Shoko adds lightheartedly. “I wouldn’t blame them—Now how was it? Your face is not pampered in tears.”
“As much I did want to cry, I’m holding strong,” you tell her. “Oh, and my father called Satoru. He didn’t say I love you but he said he wished him the best which is pretty much the same thing in his terms.”
“Why isn’t your family here? Shouldn’t they be here to help?” Choso asks.
You scoff in amusement. “This is above the big families, you’ll hear from them when the winner emerges.”
“Gojo!” Yuji calls out and quickly turns your attention to him only to see your brother walking down with a serious mug on his face that is almost intimidating.
“Your cursed technique is in the way!” Yuji adds, making the corner of your brother's lips fall to a partial frown for a lingering minute before he laughs and grins.
“Give it your best shot!” He exclaims happily and points to his back.
Yuji runs up to Satoru and grins as he pats his back. The other students ease up and smile now that Satoru loses his serious mug and smiles with glee. They actually proceed to pat his back and encourage him to do his best now too, which only seems to make your brother happier. And it’s something you can’t help but smile at too.
And you keep a hold of that smile as your brother gets closer to leaving. As much as your anguish wants to display on your face, you don’t let it, you encourage Satoru one last time with your bright smile
“Win Gojo!” Someone yells out from the crowd of sorcerers which is then followed by more words of encouragement.
“If it gets too rough I’ll tag you out!”
“Salmon!”
“Prove to us that you’re more than just a pretty face!”
“Go get him stupid blindfold!”
Satoru grins brightly and responds to the crowd, “Roger that.”
A shaky breath escapes you, but you hook your arm around Choso’s and keep smiling, noticing that Choso even offers your brother a genuine encouraging smile
“We’ll be watching,” you take your time to chime in too. “So do your best to kill that bastard. We believe in you Satoru!”
Said man’s gaze drifts to you and he holds your gaze for a moment before he offers you a much more softer smile and then leaves.
Now it’s a matter of time before Mei-Mei’s ravens display him on the multitude of screens in the center of the room. And every second leading up to that moment the more you feel your chest tighten.
“He’ll win,” Choso tries to comfort you. “He’s strong.”
You swallow thickly and nod softly in acknowledgment.
“Y/N,” Shoko calls out and makes her way to you through the crowd gathering around the screens.
“Hm?”
When your friend reaches you you notice a travel cup in her hand. “This is for you,” she says and hands you the cup.
“Me?” You ask and tilt the cups top your way. “Is it alcohol? I could use some.” you snicker, making Choso side-eye you.
“I'm joking,” you tell him with a teasing smile before you look at your friend in confusion. “But really what is this?”
“Lemon balm tea. For the stress. You’re so early on in your pregnancy and stress will make your blood pressure spike which affects the babies, so I thought this could help relax just some nerves.”
“Oh,” you gasp softly and share a happy look with Choso before you can’t help but smile at Shoko.
“Thank you,” you tell her in return. “This is actually a great idea.”
Shoko returns a softer smile and then goes serious when her eyes fall on Choso beside you. “Choso, if anything happens and she’s distraught, being with her and helping her breathe will help, okay? I’ll be around anyway, but I wouldn’t want you to feel helpless at the moment.”
Your breath catches in your throat at the mention, but you can’t contradict her because it can happen. Besides, Choso seems to be relieved to have been given advice.
“Thank you, Ieiri. I appreciate it,” Choso tells her with a half smile.
“Of course.”
Now to sit around the screens. You feel like not watching all together, but you can’t avoid it so you sit in between Choso and Yuji in front of the bunch of screens and wait for the moment your brother appears.
Yet waiting is agonizing. The screens aren’t black, Mei-Mei has her birds flying around the abandoned city streets waiting for Satoru to make his first attack, but that does nothing to calm down your nerves. You actually don’t realize you have your jaw clenched and your fists tightened until a warm hand gently covers your fist. When you look over, Choso passes you a comforting look.
“I’m here,” he says softly and with so much endearment. “I’ll hold your hand for the entirety of the fight.”
Your heart swoons at his kind words, and your body quickly eases at the comfort of his touch, letting him intertwine his fingers with yours and pull your hands toward his lap.
“I’m glad you’re here,” you tell him from the bottom of your heart, making Choso smile before he interjects.
“If you start feeling bad, just let me know, we can go get some fresh air.”
You nod and then look over at Yuji beside you, noticing that he looks just as tense as you had been moments ago.
Now you won’t hold his hand like Choso is holding yours, but you try to be comforting. “One way or another Sukuna is going to die today and we will save your friend.”
Yuji’s eyes flicker to you and you now realize how similar his brown eyes are to Choso’s.
“I know, I believe that. Like I also believe today won’t be Gojo’s end,” Yuji rebuttals confidently.
“I like your thinking,” you compliment and then see his eyebrows knit with a flicker of concern.
“You’ll be okay, right? Watching this won't stress you out, or you know the twins?”
You smile wider with appreciation and honestly shrug. “I hope not, but Choso and I are taking precautions either way. Thank you for worrying.”
He flashes you a warm smile and before you can add anything else finally your brother starts to appear on majority of the screens.
“Nine points,” you hear him say with his eyes laser-focused, and his legs bent as he chants to use his technique. “Polarized light. Crow and Shomyo chant. The gap between and without.”
You swallow back nervously and tighten your hold on Choso’s hand.
A couple of fast seconds feel like an eternity as you wait for him to complete his chant.
“Hollow technique: purple,” Satoru finishes and puts one arm out to flick out his bright and powerful purple technique that blinds each and every screen, and deafens every sound with the immense power of his technique.
Minutes later when Mei-mei’s birds finally recuperate their sight all you see is dust and rubble cascading down, creating a mess on the street that Satoru walks down on to finally meet up with Sukuna.
Finally, the strongest sorcerer of the new era and the strongest sorcerer in history face each other and you don’t fail to notice that Sukuna is already healing his hands that had been destroyed by Satoru’s first attack. And seeing that makes you smirk.
“Seems you have the wrong idea here,” Satoru breaks the tense silence between the two sorcerers. “So let me just set things straight. You’re the challenger here.”
Sukuna’s gaze narrows before he spats. “Damned brat. I’m the challenger? You seem pretty pleased with yourself for only landing a surprise attack.”
Shouldn’t he be pleased that he caught the great Sukuna off guard and landed the first strike?
“You are but a fish atop my chopping board Satoru Gojo,” Sukuna continues and seems to just sound like a sore loser. “A bit fresher than others but still just a nameless fish. Let’s start off by peeling off those scales,” he says and imbues his hands with his cursed energy as he shifts one foot out to stand in his fighting stance.
“Let me ask you, why are you still wearing that face?” Satoru says back as he starts peeling off his scarf and his robe which leads you to mentally question yourself why he even bothered to dress so fancy if he was just going to take it off?
“You thought I’d hold back if you looked like that? Unfortunately for you, I’ve been doing some special training,” Satoru says and cracks his knuckles. “And since it’s Megumi, I know I can go all out,” he adds before his cursed energy explodes out and imbues his fists. “You’ve managed to survive death once already while you were in Yuji. So I’ve been thinkin’ I’ll worry about Megumi after I kill you.”
Your face flashes on a small smile before you frown as you catch Sukuna lunge at Satoru with a kick. However, Satoru blocks his first strike and counters with a swing.
Sukuna mirrors his action, but Satoru falls on his back to flick his hand out and send a strong hit that sends Sukuna through a wall.
The ravens broadcasting the fight don’t falter and catch Sukuna crashing through multiple walls until finally, he manages to land on a couple of stairs. But since your brother is fast he catches Sukuna off guard by appearing in front of him and kicking him back onto a bridge. Albeit since it wasn’t such a strong hit, Sukuna finds his footing quickly.
Satoru, though, doesn’t let him catch his breath, your brother jumps in the air and breaks off the piece of the bridge Sukuna is on with his technique before he sends it over to crash against a nearby building.
However, you catch Sukuna using his raw strength to push himself off the surface of the bridge and bounce onto the roof of a different building before zooming off and facing Satoru.
“Dismantle,” Sukuna announces and points his finger at your brother.
But, instead of his attack hitting your brother, the strike hits a building behind him and slices off half of it. Your brother gets surprised and looks back at what missed him and is now sending down half of a tower. Sukuna tries to catch Satoru off guard and pushes himself towards your brother when he’s looking back, but Satoru blocks his swing. Actually Sukuna’s fist doesn’t even hit him thanks to Satoru's technique, his fist only makes contact when Satoru grabs his fist and sends him through the falling building.
You then watch your brother follow after him, and the birds catch when Satoru grabs a floating door and hurls it at Sukuna to block the sight of him. You then wait for the next attack, but dust clouds the sight of every bird, and the sound of the building crashing booms out through every speaker, losing sight and sound of the fighters for a moment until you see Satoru and Sukuna walking out of the cloud of dust ever so casually, like if they aren’t trying to kill one another.
How odd.
“I’m gonna go ahead and pin this on you,” you hear your brother say as they watch the mess they’re already making.
“Who are you to say anything,” Sukuna mutters.
As if remembering that you’re all watching his battle, Satoru catches sight of one of Mei-Mei’s birds and looks surprised.
“Gojo’s limitless allows him to be completely untouchable,” Choso breaks the tense silence that filled the room, breaking your attention away from the screens to watch him as he spoke. “Sukuna is using domain amplification to neutralize his cursed technique. Domain amplification,” he repeats that last bit with what sounds to be surprise.
“I saw something similar in Mechamaru’s footage,” Okkotsu follows by saying. “That special grade cursed spirit used the same method in Shibuya to counter limitless.”
“It does seem that Gojo’s domain has been neutralized,” Hakari agrees before he follows up with a question. “But how?”
“It’s a more refined version of a simple domain,” Kusakabe answers. “By sheathing yourself in a domain without imbuing your own cursed technique, you allow your opponent's technique to flow into that empty space, thereby neutralizing it.”
“Can you do that Kusakabe?”
“Don’t be ridiculous, ‘course I can’t,” he spats back.
“The main drawback to domain amplification is that you can’t simultaneously use your own innate technique,” Angel interjects, making Panda cut in with a question.
“Wait doesn’t that mean Sukuna is fighting Satoru without a cursed technique?”
“Yes,” Angel responds. “Even Sukuna is no exception to this rule. So in other words, if Sukuna has some way to deal with limitless other than domain amplification Gojo will lose.”
You sigh and avert your gaze.
“If that’s the case,” Miwa shares her own thoughts. “Why isn’t Sukuna using Domain expansion?”
“It’s easy to say that,” you tell her and pull your eyes off the ground to look over at her. “But depending on the outcome of that domain battle, the fight would be over.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” She asks and briefly meets your gaze before you look over at Kirara as they cut in with worry.
“That’s true! Why isn’t he doin’ that?!”
“Doesn’t the domain's sure hit effect negate Satoru’s technique in the first place?” Kirara follows up by saying, making Yuji respond.
“He told me that himself when we were in a cursed spirits domain.”
“Could it be that Sukuna doesn’t think he can win against Satoru Gojo in a domain battle?” Ui-Ui, Mei-Mei’s brother asks the crowd.
“No.” You shake your head, and Shoko bounces in to continue for you.
“If that were the case, Gojo would already be using domain expansion. I’d find it hard to believe that Gojo wouldn't be able to see that, with the six eyes and his shitty personality.”
You crack a soft smile whilst Choso crosses his arms over his chest and tucks your hand between his arms to keep your hand connected with his.
“What if their domains don’t actually clash?” Choso questions. “Based on what Inumaki and Yuji have said, I don’t think Sukuna’s domain expansion actually closes off a barrier.”
“Huh?!” Kusakabe gasps. “Bullishit.”
“I can't believe that,” Kashimo mutters.
“That’s insane,” Hakari says, and Okkotsu cuts in too.
“That’s absurd right?”
“Oh!” Miwa exclaims. “Is it that crazy?”
“Miwa toss me that water,” you hear Kusakabe order the girl around, and when she does toss him a bottle he stops her and complains.
Does he want the water in a cup with an umbrella on it or what?
It’s a good thing Miwa throws the water on his face, why is he being so picky about it?
“Expanding a domain without closing a barrier is just like that,” Mei-Mei uses what just happened as an example. “With no container, can water accumulate? Can you paint on empty air without a canvas? With no stem, roots, or leaves, can a flower bloom from a seed? It’s like using software without any hardware. At any rate, it’s completely impossible!”
“Megumi’s incomplete domain wasn’t enclosed within a barrier though,” Maki points out.
“I heard about that before the grade promotion assessment,” Kusakabe says. “Still, to do that he needed buildings or existing barriers to enclose his domain. That’s small potatoes compared to what’s going on now.”
“But Noritoshi Kamo—Kenjaku,” Choso corrects himself as he interjects to explain something. “…Managed to pull it off.”
You nod and chime in too. “We had planned for Yuki to counter his domain expansion with a simple domain while Tengen dismantled it from the outside.”
“However,” Choso bounces in. “The simple domain was torn apart in the blink of an eye, but if she had expanded her own domain.”
“It wouldn't have been a true domain battle,” you argue. “Though perhaps if she had expanded her own domain. There may have been a battle for Yuki’s sure-hit effect.”
“But what exactly would clash?” Choso asks.
You shrug. “Who knows.”
“Isn’t it literally against the sure-hit effect?” Miwa asks curiously.
“Given that the Sure-hit effect is imbued within the barrier itself,” you answer her. “It can only clash with another barrier.”
“You guys’re talking about their domains as if it’s a given, but that stuff devours an insane amount of cursed energy doesn’t it?” Ino breaks his silence to ask. “So shouldn’t they avoid usin’ it up thoughtlessly?”
“Fish flakes,” Inumaki says, and somehow Okkotsu understands him enough to bounce off his comment.
“It’s just as Inumaki says there’s no limit to Gojo’s cursed energy.”
“But that’s only because of how freakin’ efficient he is,” Ino continues to say. “His cursed energy consumption ends up being less than what he naturally replenishes overtime. But isn’t that working under the assumption he’s using it like normal? If he starts using domain expansion over ‘n over again consecutively, it’ll be a different story. And Sukuna?”
“He’s unreal,” Kashimo sneers. “The sharpness of his techniques activation, the way he can turn on a dime from using amplification to his innate technique…if Satoru Gojo didn’t have the six eyes, Sukuna would likely be winning in terms of efficiency in utilizing cursed energy.”
You sigh in frustration at all that’s being said, and Okkotsu interjects. “What's more, his total cursed energy is even more than mine. Going purely off intuition, I’d say by more than double. In other words, when it comes to these two, cursed energy is not the limiting factor for why they aren’t expanding their domains.”
“Maybe it’s just that nobody, not even the two of them, knows exactly how this is gonna play out,” Nishimiya says. “If Satoru Gojo and Sukuna Ryomen’s domains were to clash, who knows what would happen.”
“Hey,” Higuruma calls for everyone’s attention. “Here it comes.”
You look back at the screen after hearing the discussion and catch both Sukuna and Satoru doing a domain expansion at the exact same time, cutting off all sight of them as a large domain traps them both inside.
“They’re evenly matched,” you point out and stand up as if that would help you catch sight of your brother from within the domain. “Within the barrier, they are evenly matched.”
Nevertheless, parts of Sukuna’s domain literally starts branching out of Satoru’s domain.
“The barrier of a domain is weak against attacks from the outside!” Yuji yells out and moments later the domain explodes and all you see is Sukuna’s domain, and your brother facing him from the ground with shock.
“Come on,” you plead quietly and hold your hands together.
From one moment to the next a slash hits Satoru on his throat, right on his jugular! And you know most of all that any hit there can be deadly.
“Satoru!” You yell out with panic and fear for your dear brother's life.

you’re the only person I follow on tumblr who I feel like would be interested in this information which is why I’m sharing cause I gotta tell SOMEBODY but I have mobs on both sides of my family and I learned my great uncle on my dad’s side was like Really Infamous in Cleveland and today I learned he was born in 1892 and for some reason that threw me for more of a loop than learning I have Cleveland Syndicate on one side and the Italian Mafia on the other (not sure which group? chapter? that one is (not sure what area-specific mob segments are called lol), Mom just drops random nuggets like “oh yeah Uncle Tony would go missing for weeks and they’d find him wandering the desert” like Mother what the hell kinda mob movie nonsense is this!!) but I gotta admit knowing that my 4 foot tall grandma married the brother of such an infamous bootlegger and mobster makes her make a lot more sense as a person lmao.
I also think my mom’s mom set her up with my dad because the Cleveland Syndicate apparently respected whatever Mafia my grandma’s family was in and for some reason she wanted to join the groups together because she LITERALLY PAID MY MOTHER’S BOYFRIEND TO NEVER SPEAK TO HER AGAIN (which only worked till after she died which is how we got this info, he was literally set up and SENT TO JAIL to get him away from my mom so needless to say Mom was FURIOUS) and she met dad very shortly after and that was it, they’ve been married 40 years. I wanna do a family tree to find out more so bad but I feel like it’s gonna give me whiplash if this is what I’m starting with lol

You hated it.
Oh, so you desperately hated it.
You could feel every person in the room giving you looks and you didn’t know if it was a good one or a bad one. ‘’Why must you always play the diplomat, Nikolai?’’ You heard Vasily's question at the table. ‘’A shu and Grisha dining beside true Ravkan soldiers is a bit much for all our stomachs,’’ Vasily remarked.
‘’We’re all Ravkan here,’’ You sneered and tried to be calm. ‘’Doesn’t need to be us versus them,’’ Nikolai replied and looked at his brother. ‘’Kirigian should’ve thought of that,’’ Vasily replied with his drink in hand. ‘’Before he tried to murder my father and stage a coup, that said: absent they're Darkling the Grisha are rather easy to manage,’’
‘’By manage do you mean execute: Moi tsarevich?’’ You asked boldly and turned your head to face him. ‘’That fate is reserved for traitors to the Crown, Miss Starkov,’’
‘’If the second Army requires a leader loyal to the Crown to assure their fealty, my sister will lead them,’’ You remarked. You looked at Vasily as he let out a laugh. ‘’Why should I believe you and your sister that you have any loyalty to my family?’’ He asked. You paused before your eyes trailed to Nikolai.
He met your gaze before standing up from his chair and raising a glass to get the people’s attention. ‘’Today marks the start of a new era of cooperation between Lantsov and Grisha, I’m delighted to announce my engagement to Y/N Starkov, the sister of the Sun Summoner,’’ Nikolai presented. ‘’And with her sister being the Sun Summoner, she will be the new leader of the Second Army, together we'll build a better future for Ravka,’’
You locked your gaze with Mal and Alina not from far away and saw their surprised gazes. They never thought that you would agree on the marriage but yet here you were. For Ravka.
‘’That was a bit much,’’ You responded after everybody had cheered and Nikolai had sat down.
‘’Understatement is overrated,’’ He replied as you took a sip from your drink.
-
Alina had left with Tamar and Nadia to go and do some training. They offered to come with but you declined and told them to do some studying of the Firebird. You hoped some of the history books had the answers since you knew that Alina had to kill you to get the third amplifier. You knew that she wasn’t going to do it, but if it was your only plan, you knew that you had to do it on your own.
You heard fast footsteps approaching you in the library. You turned around with a frown and saw Adrik approaching you. ‘’I know, not to be disturbed, but they need you in the war room,’’ Adrik informed and you nodded. You placed the books down and followed after him.
You stopped in your tracks when you noticed David standing with Tolya, Nikolai, Alina, Mal, Tamar, and Adrik when you recognized David. David flickered his eyes when he saw you and waved with the other hand and you noticed that his hands were tied. ‘’Oh, so you know him,’’ Nikolai replied when he noticed your gaze. ‘’He claims to have escaped from a very alive General Kirigian,’’ Nikolai revealed and approached you. You looked at Alina with a concerned gaze. ‘’He gave himself up without a struggle, we found this on him,’’ Nikolai said and handed you over the journal. ‘’He says it’s one of Morozova’s journals,’’ You grabbed the journal as Nikolai turned to face David.
‘’I, for one, am dying to know more, but he insisted to speak with you and Alina,’’ Nikolai said.
‘’Y/N…’’ David began to say and step forward before Tolya stopped him before he could go further. ‘’I know I wronged both of you, please I regret my role in that, I know you have a reason to distrust me, but I have no loyalty to General Kirigian,’’ David spoke.
‘’He survived the Volcra?’’ Alina questioned him. ‘’I’m afraid so,’’ David revealed. ‘’He also knows that you both are in East Ravka,’’ David informed and you could feel your heart growing faster. You didn’t know if he found out that you were the Firebird but if he did he could find you here, you didn’t know if you were safe. ‘’Tell us where he is,’’ You demanded David.
‘’No, no, no,’’ David replied and you narrowed your eyes. ‘’That would be a very bad idea-’’
‘’You can’t expect us to trust you unless you share information,’’ You snapped. ‘’Confronting him would be suicide,’’ David replied. ‘’Kirigian used Merzost to create something in the Fold, creatures that do his bidding the size of two men, formed of pure shadow,’’ He informed as your blood ran cold. ‘’They have no breath to take, no heart to stop, no blood to drain, yet, they live,’’ David explained.
‘’They live and they kill,’’
‘’They are nichevo’ya: nothing: bullets, blades, fire, all simply pass through and they walk freely in sunlight, I fear that merzost may be the only way to kill them,’’ You looked at David and could see that he was terrified. Nikolai glanced at you and he could see the fear you formed in your eyes. ‘’So, how did you manage to get away?’’ Mal questioned.
‘’Genya,’’ You snapped your thoughts away at the mention of Genya. ‘’We tried to escape together but the nichevo’ya,’’ David informed. ‘’She sacrificed herself to get me out,’’ A sadness washed over you for your friend. You knew how much Genya liked David back then at the Little Palace and you begged the saints that she was still alive.
‘’I don’t know if she survived,’’
‘’A smart spy will always play the victim,’’ Tolya spoke and narrowed his eyes. ‘’No, no,’’ David protested and shook his head. ‘’You make a valid point, Tolya,’’ Nikolai responded before he turned to Alina. ‘’As a leader of the second army, this is your call,’’ Nikolai said. Alina looked at Nadia and gestured to come closer next to her. ‘’You’ve known David the longest, what do you think?’’
‘’Kirigian always kept him close,’’ Nadia spoke. Alina looked at you before her eyes placed on David. ‘’Take him to the holding cell,’’ Alina said as Tolya walked away with David. ‘’We need a moment alone, please,’’ Mal said and looked at Nikolai.
Nikolai looked at the three of you as you nodded. ‘’Of course,’’ He replied before walking away, leaving the three of you alone. You let out a sigh. ‘’Do you trust him?’’ Mal asked the two of you.
‘’I don’t know,’’ You answered. ‘’Not entirely,’’ Alina added. ‘’The shadow monsters…’’ Mal trailed off as you thought for a moment. ‘’But why would he lie?’’ You asked them. ‘’Kirigian’s a force to be reckoned with, but if it’s true, I need to hunt the Firebird,’’ Mal responded making you look at him.
‘’Or I can do something right now, an alternative to boost my power,’’ Alina suggested and you looked at her. ‘’Alternative?’’ You asked. ‘’He created soldiers of shadow,’’ Alina said. ‘’Maybe, maybe I can tear down the Fold by creating soldiers of light,’’ Alina informed. ‘’With what? Merzost?’’ You inquired. ‘’The Darkling messed with it and we got the Fold for 400 years,’’
‘’And now he has monsters who walk with him,’’ Alina argued. ‘’Give me time to track down the Firebird,’’ Mal said which made you sigh. ‘’There’s always a cost to merzost, it’s not worth the risk,’’
-
‘’Hey, you’re coming with us to Ketterdam?’’ You heard Tolya ask you as you approached him, Tolya, and Mal. ‘’You know I can’t, Queen duties,’’ You replied and rolled your eyes. ‘’Not going to lie, we all were surprised that you accepted the proposal,’’ Tamar spoke. ‘’Believe me, we all were,’’ You told her.
‘’Too bad we can’t be here to see you in the dress that Nikolai had chosen,’’ Tamar replied.
‘’Perhaps another time,’’ You responded.
‘’You know it won’t be another time,’’ Tolya teased. ‘’Hey, now that she’s the Queen of Ravka, she’ll have to play dress up,’’ Tamar teased.
‘’And the Queen of Ravka can hear you,’’ You responded as you gave them a look before you looked at them with a grin.
‘’Be careful,’’ You told them before embracing him.
‘’Don’t worry, we will be back,’’ Tolya assured you and let go of you before walking away. ‘’And, don’t forget the snacks you’ll bring back from Shu Han!’’ You exclaimed. ‘’I can’t promise you anything,'' Tolya responded as you chuckled.
You , Mal, and Tamar said goodbye to each other as you walked back to your chambers to prepare for the ball. ‘’I hate this dress,’’ You murmured as you heard Alina chuckle. ‘’You look pretty, he has good taste,’’ Alina commented as you rolled your eyes and looked down at your dress. Nikolai had placed a dress in your room and it was uncomfortable for your liking.
You disliked wearing pretty dresses and it was unusual for Alina to see you in one. ‘’How’s that, moy milaya? better?’’ The maid asked as you reached your arms. However, you couldn’t reach it further. ‘’Still can’t move my arms,’’ You replied softly and looked at her with a smile. ‘’I’ll get another corset,’’ She told you as you nodded.
‘’Ugh, saints,’’ You whined.
‘’It’s not that bad,’’ Alina replied as you turned around and looked at her and gave her a look. ‘’I can’t even breathe,’’ You complained. ‘’Well, I think you look great in that dress, you certainly look a queen,’’ Alina replied with a chuckle. ‘’Help me?’’ You asked and gestured to your back as Alina approached you.
You heard the door open and you turned around to see Vasily. ‘’What do you want?’’ You asked. ‘’My my, Y/N, they never taught you manners did you?’’ Vasily remarked as Alina helped you undress behind the dressing room. You and Alina exchanged a look. You grabbed your coat as you stepped outside and looked at him.
‘’I would prefer you call me Vasily,’’ He responded. ‘’At least when we’re in private,’’ He remarked after he heard you speak in Ravkan. ‘’What can I do for you, Moi Tsarevich?’’ You questioned. ‘’You call my brother by his given name,’’
‘’We met under different circumstances,’’ You explained. ‘’Yes, I’ve heard some find his whole Corsair act rather claiming,’’ He responded with a smirk, and you narrowed your eyes. ‘’If you excuse us-’’
‘’He must realize, no matter his aims, he will always be a second son,’’ He replied, and you looked at him. You felt your anger rise. ‘’Only I can make you a queen,’’ He spoke. ‘’I can assure you I have such no ambition,’’
‘’Is that so?’’ He questioned with a smirk. ‘’You’ve made no secret of your opinion on Grisha, why propose an alliance with me?’’
‘’I stand by my previous statements, the Ravkan people are fed up with being held hostage by Grisha tyrants, odds are some Grisha are good people, you could help me sort that out,’’
‘’Where would you find the time? Rumor has it you find yourself quite preoccupied at Caraveya, between the horse races and the brothels,’’ You replied boldly as you watched him take a step toward you with his jaw clenching. ‘’How many true allies do you have, Miss Starkov?’’ He questioned ‘’Grisha scraps with your sister being the leader of the Second Army, I imagine the Commander of the First would be a good one to keep,’’ He responded and glanced at Alina before looking at you.
‘’You’re a smart girl, consider your options,’’ He replied smugly before grabbing your hand softly and kissing at the top of your palm. ‘’Until then,’’ He spoke before leaving the room. You and Alina exchanged a look before you wiped your hand with disgust written on your face.
-
You stared at your reflection and looked down at the dress before letting out a scoff. ‘’I take it down that you dislike the dress,’’ You heard Nikolai speak. You glanced up and saw him standing at the door frame with a smirk on his face. You rolled your eyes toward him. ‘’It’s hideous, I prefer wearing a kefta instead,’’ You spoke and turned around to face him. Nikolai chuckled and approached you.
‘’I figured out that you would say so,’’ Nikolai replied before gesturing to the kefta he brought him with. You looked at him before letting out a grin on your face. You accepted the kefta in his hands before walking to the dressing room. You tried to get the dress off but you couldn’t reach the laces and usually, Alina would help you but she was at the party. ‘’I could use some help to undress, usually, Alina would help me but consider that she isn’t here…’’ You trailed off nervously.
‘’Of course,’’ Nikolai replied and walked toward you. You looked in the mirror in front of you and saw him standing behind you. Your heart was beating fast when he was close to you and you could feel his fingers through the laces and you felt your cheeks warming up. You scolded yourself in your head when he was the one who made you flustered.
You felt the laces loosen up as Nikolai met your gaze in the mirror, giving you a small smile before walking out. ‘’Some of the Grisha were kind enough to help and put this together,’’ You heard him speak as you put on the kefta. You smiled and realized that the two of you were matching before walking out. You saw Nikolai look at you with adoration in his expression while you gave a little twirl.
‘’Well?’’ You asked. ‘’I would prefer to see you in one of the keftas instead of the pretty dresses,’’ Nikolai replied with a chuckle. ‘’I think I have just the flourish to complete the look,’’ He told you and approached you closer. ‘’Consider this as a gift,’’
You watched him grab something out of his pocket. You looked down and saw the Lantsov ring in his hand. ‘’The Lantsov Emerald,’’ You spoke and looked down. ‘’Understatement is overrated,’’ You quoted with a small smile. ‘’I love it when you quote me,’’ You just shook your head with a smile in response.
‘’Console yourself knowing that, should you ever punch me while wearing it, you’ll probably take my eye out, and I’d very much like you to,’’ You looked at him. ‘’Wear it, that’s it, not punch me,’’ He explained as the two of you chuckled. ‘’May I?’’ He asked and you nodded. You reached your hand out and felt him grab your hand softly before placing the ringer on. ‘’I must say, this is the longest conversation we have had instead of ripping each other head’s off,’’ You spoke as you heard him laugh softly.
‘’Indeed,’’ He spoke as the two of you walked out of the room. ‘’Your mother will not be pleased you gave this to a commoner,’’ You remarked as you stepped down the stairs. ‘’If my mother was as put off by commoners as she claims, I wouldn’t be here, now would I?’’ Nikolai retorted, making you stop. ‘’If you lead a country, you must get better at hiding what you’re thinking,’’ Nikolai spoke.
‘’I wasn’t sure,’’ You replied as you followed after him. ‘’I heard the whispers since I was a child,’’ He replied. ‘’I’ll deny it if you repeat it, but the truth is, I couldn’t care less if I have Lantsov blood, given all the royal inbreeding, I think the bastard is probably a point in my favor,’’
‘’It’s nice when you drop the act when you’re just yourself,’’ You remarked. ‘’Was that a compliment?’’ He asked with a smirk and you just rolled your eyes. ‘’Besides, I am a prince, Y/N,’’ He remarked. ‘’Being myself is a luxury I can’t often indulge in,’’ He answered.
‘’The throne is just a prize to Vasily, like some favorite toy,’’ You replied softly before turning to face him. ‘’You, however, care about Ravka,’’ You told him, making him smile. ‘’You’d make a good king,’’ You replied. ‘’Coming from you, it means a lot,’’ He murmured and you looked into his eyes. You could see the adoration in his eyes and it made you realize that you’d fallen for him. You weren’t supposed to fall in love with him considering the circumstances and you tried hard not to, knowing that your plan would involve sacrificing yourself for Alina. Nikolai met your eyes as he saw sadness flashing through your eyes before changing them.
You hesitantly reached for his hands and he noticed the hesitation on your face before accepting it. Your heart was beating harder when you felt his touch and it was soft-spoken. ‘’You’re going to be insufferable now, aren’t you?’’ You remarked. Nikolai let out a laugh at the comment you made.
The laugh, you thought for yourself. You stared at Nikolai with an unreadable expression on your face. It was the kind of laugh that you would bottle up and get drunk on the darkest nights. ‘’I’m already insufferable, love,’’ Nikolai retorted with a grin on his face. You chuckled as you felt him squeeze your hand before walking out to the room.
You heard the classical music playing in the background while the massive crowd around you was chatting and drinking. ‘’I was not expecting this,’’ Nikolai murmured with the same surprise on his face. You looked around and tried to see Alina and Mal. ‘’Where’s Mal and Alina?’’ You asked him with concern. ‘’I know my company doesn’t account for much, but at least pretend to enjoy yourself,’’ Nikolai spoke.
You gave him a look before scanning the room. ‘’I don’t see them,’’ You began to grow worried and Nikolai sensed it. ‘’Listen, I can assure you that the two of them are fine, maybe the two lovebirds are in a private room and doing saints know what,’’ You wrinkled your face in disgust before looking at him with a deadpanned expression. ‘’I did not want to hear that,’’ You muttered. ‘’After all, that gelatin deer gave its life for your entertainment,’’ Nikolai spoke and leaned to your ear. You turned your gaze and realized that he was so close to your lips and you yanked your head away from him.
Nikolai smirked at your reaction. ‘’It’s not just like them, you know,’’ You murmured. ‘’They would be here with me, and well, watching us while teasing,’’ You remarked. ‘’You can’t fault them for being a little late,’’ Nikolai responded and looked at you. ‘’You can’t be worried about Alina and Mal, they can take care of themselves, you know?’’ Nikolai said and you sighed. ‘’I know, I’m just worried,’’
‘’Perhaps your loyal Sun Summoner and tracker don’t share your enthusiasm for your festivities,’’ You heard Vasily’s voice speak from behind you as you and Nikolai exchanged a look. ‘’If you excuse me, Moi Tsarevich,’’ You spoke as Nikolai nodded at you before you walked away. You sighed with frustration and walked around in the crowd trying to find Alina. However, you spotted Tamar speaking with Nadia. ‘’I guess I owe you the money,’’ You heard Tamar speak when she saw you approaching them.
‘’What?’’ You questioned her.
‘’We were all betting if you would choose the dress,’’ Nadia explained. ‘’Well, I guess you were wrong then,’’ You spoke and looked at Tamar. ‘’Have you seen Alina and Mal?’’ You asked Tamar with concern as Nadia went back for more champagne. ‘’Well-’’
‘’Y/N, have you seen Mal?’’ Alina interrupted you as you turned around. ‘’Saints, Alina, I was looking for you and Mal,’’ You replied before embracing her tightly. ‘’He’s probably late, you know,’’ Tamar spoke as she tried to assure you. You could feel that something was wrong but you tried to ignore the feeling.
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard Vasily speak. ‘’A toast!’’ You and Alina exchanged a look. ‘’I’d like to share some words about my brother, Nikolai,’’ Vasily spoke and pointed toward Nikolai. You narrowed your eyes. ‘’Yes, yes, we all know he’s pretentious,’’ He spoke and chuckled. ‘’Condescending, a man of the people…’’
You frowned when you felt a strange feeling. You could feel that something was wrong as you looked up at the ceiling glass with wonder. It was the same feeling that you felt when you and Aleksander had connected for the first time back at the Little Palace, but then you saw it.
The shadows. ‘’Alina…’’ You spoke, making her turn to face you with confusion, and then, everything happened so fast that you didn’t have the time to react. ‘’Run!’’ You shouted at Alina when the Nichevo'ya appeared. People were screaming, several gunshots were heard and you hid behind a pole.
You couldn’t think and you were terrified. Terrified of your own life, Nikolai, Mal, and Alina. You gasped when you saw the Nichevo'ya dragged Vasily in the air before tearing him apart. Alina used her magic as she tried to kill them but it was no use. ‘’Somebody, protect the Queen!’’ You heard one of them say. Nadia and Adrik used their powers against the Nichevo'ya and you tried to run toward Alina, however, the Nichevo'ya knocked them away.
‘’Alina!’’ You shouted with fear and you froze in place when the Nichevo'ya turned to you. You widened your eyes as you felt your blood run cold. ‘’Y/N!’’ Alina shouted and you could see her eyes with terror when she saw the Nichevo'ya was coming for you. You felt strong arms wrapping around your waist, dragging away from Alina as Tamar and the others tried to protect her too.
‘’Let me go! Alina!’’ You shouted. ‘’Y/N, we need to go, now!’’ Nikolai raised his voice as he tried to drag you away from there. ‘’Find Mal!’’ You tried to shout before you felt him drag you away from Alina.

do you have any thoughts on The Hunter’s Children? when i read it my immediate reaction was “this has to mean strq reunion” (and i have been banging that drum for years now) but i’m curious what you think about it
in general i read fairytales of remnant as an ozpin character study so i tend not to have STRQ at the forefront of my mind (see also: ‘the warrior in the woods’ was not originally about a silver-eyed warrior), and my immediate reaction to the hunter’s children was to look at this:
“No,” said the younger sister. “We need to study the Grimm, so we can figure out better ways to protect against them.” […] The younger sister ventured into the woods near her village and built a structure high on a tree branch from which she could observe Grimm safely. Whenever one came near, she calmed herself enough to avoid its attention while she made careful notes and sketches. But studying the Grimm in this passive state did not provide useful information about their strength and abilities in combat. […] “I was wrong. The best way to learn about the Grimm is by fighting them,” said the younger sister.
and then this:
This is one of my favorite fairy tales, and I include it here not only because its messages still resonate today—perhaps more than ever—but also because the hunter’s four children bear a striking resemblance to the four-student teams at each of our Huntsmen academies. One wonders if the king of Vale had this story in mind when he established them after the Great War.
and then exchange a meaningful glance with the corner of my brain where i just replay WOR: grimm on a continual loop and crack the fuck up. ozma modeled the curriculum of his academies on a story whose overt moral includes "scientific study of the grimm is a waste of time and useless, the right way to learn about them is killing them." and in the end killing is all that matters………
OUR marvelous capacity to learn from the experience of fighting grimm; THEIR perverse form of self-preservation making them more effective killers. salem is the funniest fucking person alive
also considering ozpin says it’s his "favorite fairytale" (and thus probably one he either made up in the first place or has retold often enough to have shaped the traditional narrative) and his CONSTANT PROJECTION,
“Because I hate the Grimm for killing your mother,” the hunter might answer. “And I hate myself for not being there when she died.” Dinner conversation was silent on those nights until one child would ask softly, “Tell us about Mother again.” And soon they would be sharing their favorite memories of her, such as her sharp sense of humor, her beautiful singing voice, and her gentle but firm hand in guiding their combat training.
<- this is about salem. or more specifically, it’s ozma’s grief and remembrance of salem refracted through an allegorical story about a man who couldn’t save his beloved wife from the grimm. (which. lmao.) and well. the lost fable begins with salem humming, and her way of teaching and training cinder is not far off from a twisted "gentle but firm" approach. that’s 2 of 3, and 3 of 3 taking into account her occasional moments of WITHERING DEADPAN SARCASM esp in narration and the "your mother said those words to me"/"hm! her again? :)" attitude she has adopted about these girls’ mother being her general and the "hm! you certainly do enjoy collecting assets!" gently ribbing cinder and the nasty "she thinks… she wants…" bit when she uses her sarcasm for evil. and "perhaps you and i can have a better working relationship :)" LISTEN TO ME. SALEM IS FUNNY. HUMOR IS HOW SHE COPES. OZMA MISSES HER JOKES…
ahem.
that said, rereading the story again i do see where you’re getting the STRQ parallels / reunion foreshadowing because yeah it’s.
younger sister: her semblance suppresses or banishes emotion with waves of "overwhelming calm," she uses it to go… live among the grimm…
younger brother: his semblance lets him hide in plain sight by closing his eyes, but grimm can still sense his presence; he stumbles around "safe" but blind until the younger sister rescues him.
older sister: her semblance leads her toward whatever she needs most, which in the story this turns out to be her younger siblings. she pledges her service to protect the village, but the grimm are so numerous and the villagers so upset that they’re forced to adopt a nomadic lifestyle to stay safe.
older brother: his semblance allows him to create a shared pool of aura between large groups of people connected by a rope; he travels around until he finds a surviving village and becomes their champion until they, too, are overwhelmed and forced to flee.
if summer willingly joined salem, then… yeah all four of these characters map very neatly onto team STRQ.
summer joined salem and learned from her how to tame / command / ally with / otherwise live safely among grimm; she’s the younger sister.
"bravado" is a description that suits tai’s character quite well, and when he’s "alone in the forest"—left by raven and summer and qrow—he winds up lost and blind, depressed, and he’s (emotionally) trapped there still, surrounded by grimm that have overrun vale and patch.
raven’s semblance links her to her family so she can always get to them; there’s some resonance too between the older sister’s leadership of the village and the branwen tribe in that the branwens need to stay on the move because, as bandits, they’re walking grimm bait. and the older sister is left behind, which is… pretty clearly how raven feels toward the rest of her team.
qrow as the older brother on the surface seems like he’s the odd one out but…considered metaphorically, the older brother’s semblance makes him weak when he is alone and strong with the support of a community, which is qrow’s emotional arc exactly; and the older brother also travels the world and (literally) binds people together, which, gestures at qrow telling yang where to find raven and bringing RNJR into the loop and so forth. also the clover pin semblance key change in v8.
…gonna put this one down as another tally in the "tai’s 'assignment' keeping him away from vacuo is summer" column.

18+ only, minors please dni
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Harrington Twin (yes because I'm obsessed with the idea)
Summary: After getting caught at your house by your brother, you find yourself going for the first time to Eddie's trailer. What happens when Eddie ask you to try to be friends? (3k+)
Warnings: 18+ please no minors, smut, vaginal penetration, safe sex, oral (m receiving) dirty talk, fingering. Let me know if I'm missing something.
A/N: This is my first time writing smut, hopefully it won't be so generic lmao i would really like to do a second part i already have the idea so if you'd like it too let me know
This is bullshit. Eddie thought at the sight of the number of pictures that showed a perfect and loving family, the four of them had matching outfits, the difference was that the children's outfits were a little more juvenile.
They were that kind of family, businessman dad, entrepreneur mom, jock son, and cheerleader daughter. The parents raised their children to be king and queen, with perfect grades and perfect life practically in their pockets. But he knew the truth behind their perfect white smiles. Mr. and Mrs. Harrington were absent parents, Steve was a bully who barely graduated and didn't get into college, and YN, sweet princess YN wasn't as innocent as they thought. In fact, she was always begging Eddie to fuck her until she couldn't walk, that’s right, their sweet princess was more promiscuous than any parent wants it, and Eddie was there to please her whenever she desired it. What would mom and dad think about their little girl begging the freak to fuck her brains out?
It was a normal routine for you two, you'd call him letting him know that your parents were, again, not home and he'd sneak through the window at the first sign of Steve being gone. You could spend hours teasing the other until the urge of him being inside you was so strong, that you'd let him rip your clothes, hence the reason you were running out of panties. Today was no exception, he was waiting for you to put on a new lingerie set to "spice things up" leaving him outside your room wondering in the hall where many pictures were displayed.
“Well, this is new” YN was standing at the door of her room looking like the hottest version of herself. It was an all-black lace set with a matching robe, her breast looking magnificent as ever. Eddie didn’t know much about fabrics, but it sure looked expensive. “Gotta say, I’m very pleased with the new style but I like it better how you look in a good old pastel pink”.
He’s closer now, taking small steps to corner you between the wall. The scent of his cheap cologne was all over you. He looks at you, eyes darting your eyes before they settle on your lips. His fingers traced random patterns on your arm, all without taking his eyes off you, but you were looking at his fingers.
“You got nice hands Munson”
“Think so princess?” Eddie softly touches your bottom lip to make with his thumb, he loved how his rings contrasted the delicate features of your face. “Guitarist's fingers”
“And you’re gonna show me what other things you can do with them?”
With that he brings a hand up to tilt your hand back and kisses you eagerly, hands finding purchase on each side of his neck, giving him a little tug. His hands now gripped at your hips, pulling you more against him. Slowly he slips a hand under the soft fabric of your robe to caress your thigh. He sucks on your bottom lip, teeth grazing it and making you moan.
“I fell asleep! I was just leaving” Steve was about to make a full statement about why he was in the house when he realized that was not the point.
“Oh dear lord!” Steve suddenly is standing outside his room doing his best to cover his eyes. You don’t have time to think but Eddie quickly covers you with his jacket since the robe you’re wearing is everything but covering.
“What the hell are you doing here? You’re supposed to be at Robbin’s!”
“Eddie you have to go” you start to shove him down the stairs.
“Like hell he is” Steve interrupts you and grabs Eddie by his shoulders “You’re gonna explain yourself freak”
“Jesus, Steve let him go”
“Why don’t I leave, this seems like a twin problem so…”
“Yes!”
“No! I can’t believe you’re with him I thought you had someone from college coming to visit you”
“Ok, no together it’s just a casual thing” Eddie clarifies.
“Like that’s better, is he the reason you’re dropping out?” Eddie looks at you confused, your thing if you could call it that way was so casual, he didn’t know what college you were attending or what was your major. He just learned you had a middle name.
“No! Steve, please shut up. I’m sorry Eddie but you have to go. I’ll go change and then we’ll talk ok Stevs?” your brother softens up when he hears his nickname. You only used that pet name when something is bother you.
“Fine”
“Well this was lovely, see you around Stevie” before he leaves, Eddie grabs your face to kiss you, an aggressive kiss with his tongue quickly moving against yours. He pulls off and with his breath still like crazy, Eddie grabs your ass and winks at you before waving goodbye to Steve who was speechless.
It's saturday and you couldn’t imagine a worse-case scenario, you'd been in your car for fifteen minutes waiting to see Eddie. Already a couple of people gave you strange looks, you weren't a stranger to the town's community, your dad used you as his perfect angel when he ran for mayor, thank god he lose. So what was Harrington's angel doing in the trailer park on a Saturday? You didn't know which one was Eddie’s trailer so a miracle was what you were expecting. Am I going too far just for being horny? Yes I am. And he is worth it.
When the clock indicated that you'd been waiting twenty minutes, your hopes were on the ground but, one of the doors opened, Dustin Henderson and Mike Wheeler got out of the trailer followed by Eddie; he said goodbye to them and got back in immediately. Now you were packing at the thought that the boys might see you, Dustin especially since he was close, really close, with your brother, what were you going to tell them? That you're just passing by when you're supposed to be in college?
"Great" you spotted their bikes just close enough to your car, there was no way they wouldn't see you. And they did.
"YN? What are you doing here?" Dustin was the first one to approach you, he was confused but so happy to see you, his smile always warmed your heart. "Needed a break from the city?"
"Oh yeah, a break of course"
"I wish Steve would told me, my mom's been dying to show you her new apple pie recipe"
"I'll go see her if I can don't worry" your hands kept on the weil.
"Great! So I'll see you around?"
"Wait, what are you doing here specifically?" Damn Mike, you were so close to being done with them.
"That's none of your business Mike let's go. Please don't go without saying goodbye"
"I won't, take care kiddos"
When you no longer see them on the road, it was time to get out of the car and look for Eddie. The closest you were, the louder the music was, it was absurd to think that a human being could enjoy music at such level, but common decency wasn't the reason you were looking for Eddie. You knock like your life depended on the matter unsure if he was going to hear you.
Eddie heard the first two knocks and willingly ignore them but at the third one, he suspected someone was at the door. He made an imaginary list of people who could be looking for him: maybe someone his uncle, or him, owed money to. Or Dustin even, sure he just left but that boy was annoying. After the fourth knock,  he did the logical thing: look through the window. To his surprise, YN Harrington was standing outside his trailer, she was so annoyed, he could see it in her face. Arms crossed, tapping furiously and rolling her eyes every five seconds or so. This is gonna be sooo much fun.
"What a surprise, what's this princess doing so far from her castle?"
"Let me in?" Your annoyed voice turns him on right away, he steps aside, hands behind him like a good boy. You got in and started to check the place.
"So, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Eddie sits on his couch like he is in a throne, with his arms on his knees and a playful smile.
"I don’t know, I guess I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the awkwardness that happened last time" he can notice that suddenly you’re nervous and vulnerable. But not vulnerable as in defenseless, vulnerable in a shy kind of way.
“I see… you know? You didn’t have to but I’m glad you came because I can see your nipples through your shirt.” He gets up from the couch and gets closer to you, he knew damn well what you were doing in his place. But you loved to tease him.
“Then maybe I came for you to care of them”
He tugged you toward him with the hand he already had in your hair, your nose pressing against his cheek as he moved to whisper in your ear.  “You know what you came for”
It was no secret you were a big fan of the way he handled you. Just his hand alone had a gush of arousal pooling between your legs, you squeezed your thighs together, urging yourself to keep your composure. It was useless because he noticed. His smirk was hidden but you knew he was doing it. Eddie’s strong arm wrapped around your waist, lifting your body and sitting you up on the table with little to no effort. A hand pushed the hem of your skirt up your thighs, eyes dropping to the newly exposed skin.
“No panties?” The tip of his fingers traveled up your thigh and he was pressing himself closer. You could feel how hard he was against your skin.
“They tend to get in the way” Eddie snarled, staring up at you with fire in his eyes.  With his hand in your hair, he pulled you from the table and onto your knees. You are now faced to face with his solid bulge at the front of his pants.  On instinct, you were reaching your hands forward. Quick with undoing his belt and lowering the zipper of his ripped jeans. He watched in amusement, but you were too driven by the thought of having him in your mouth, so you chose to ignore it.
Leaning forward you prepared yourself to swallow his length. just as your lips wrapped around the tip, his hand was batting yours away, taking control of his cock. It wasn’t long before you were struggling, jaw aching from being slack open for so wide around him. He was moving too slowly, searching for a proper pace that he liked, sliding deeper with each movement. You tried the best you could to swallow all he was giving you, hands bracing on his thighs as you slowly tried to move your head.
“Oh, fuck!” Heavy breaths left through his nose, the hand that once held your mouth open gripping the table behind you. He watched you were furrowed brows, the tip of his tongue rubbing against his lower lip before he was chewing down on the skin and God, he looked so good.
“That feel good?” You spoke after pulling off of him, licking gently against his length. He nodded, the quiet noises leaving his lips surprising you.
“So good, baby.” He complimented and you grinned, leaning down again. It was no secret between you two how much you enjoyed having his cock down your throat, you could feel yourself growing wetter as the seconds ticked by. He held you there, thrusting forward shallowly. You were so glad the distance this position warranted, knowing only embarrassment would come from his knowledge of how wet you were right now.
Your eyes landed on his throbbing dick, just inches from your face, unbelievably hard, and wet with a mixture of your spit and his pre-cum. You leaned forward, mouth open, ready to swallow him down again. The sound of Eddie’s chuckle stopped your actions, his hand in your hair lifting you onto your feet. Standing face to face, he looked at you with the softest of expressions. You wanted so badly to drop back to your knees, just so he’d stop looking at you like that. There were already too many emotions floating around this room. His thumb brushed under your eye, wiping some of the smeared makeup from your skin. If you knew him any better, you would’ve guessed that he’d say something sappy. Something that could be considered romantic in the slightest bit. But you didn't know him in that way.
Eddie’s grip fell from your hair to the side of your face, holding you still as he covered your mouth with his. Your breath caught in your throat. His hands were dropping shoving your skirt further up your legs until your ass was on full display. Hands groping and kneading the flesh, pulling a whimper from your lips.
“I want to fuck you tonight. Will you let me?” His words were murmured against your lips, he had only pulled back a few centimeters to speak. Nevertheless, you were understanding him, nodding your head at his words… a happy giggle leaving your lips. He smiled, dropping a gentle kiss on your lips before he was lifting your body off the floor. You were in a position of vulnerability, he knew the kind of control he had over you, nevertheless, he'd ask every time for your consent, even if you were already naked in front of him.
Your legs wrapped around his waist instinctively, arms hanging loosely around his shoulders. Quickly, he was tucking himself back into his jeans before leading you out of the living room and into his bedroom.
Your body bounced as he dropped you onto his bed. His hands grabbed the neck of the collar of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head.
“Move up,” He ordered, watching you as his hand dipping into his boxers. Oddly, that’s when it hit you. You barely knew Eddie. The little facts you knew about him were in majority rumors or puzzle pieces put it together from what Dustin had told you and what you share in between fucks.
“Move up. I want to eat you out,” He repeated. There just had to be some rules if, after months, this was going to keep going. It was only a quick fuck. Acquaintances hooked up because it was easier, not because there was any interest in starting up something.  He moved to hover over you when you remained silent too long. His elbows pressed down at either side of your head, his clothed cock pressing against your wet pussy.
He planted wet kisses against your skin, licking a wet stripe toward your ear, before nibbling at the lobe. You felt his cock jump against your thigh. He ground his hips into yours, sinking his teeth into the skin of your neck. You gasped, head rolling back as you reached up to grip his back. He stuck his tongue out, soothing the skin his teeth had just irritated. You moaned. Eddie lifted his body to kneel on his knees. You watched as he pulled his cock from his boxers, stroking it a few times. The skin glistened still and he was harder than before. A bead of cum rolled down the side and your mouth watered; your pussy clenching around nothing.
“Do you have a condom?” Confusion took over his features as he stared down at you. You usually fucked at your place, every break from college and even before that, he was always at your house. Not the other way around and especially if you showed up by surprise. So, he didn’t quite know where the condoms at his place were because he has a spare at your room.
"I guess they have to be where my goods are right?" His urge helped him to find them quickly and in a fast move he got exactly where he was. His fingers were dropping down, toying with your clit slowly. Your face melted into a twist of pleasure, soft moans leaving your lips. He smirked, loving how easily he could turn you to putty. Eyes finding yours, your jaw dropped as he began to push his way past your fold; bottoming out. You groaned.
“You should’ve let me prep you.” He spoke in an annoyed tone and you rolled your eyes.
“Not the time” Eddie laughed, his hand reaching between your body, fingers finding your clit and rubbing slow eights into the wet nub.
His head dropped back into your neck, wet kisses landing on your clammy skin. He nibbled and sucked at the skin, making sure to keep his hips still as he toyed with your clit. You could feel yourself slowly starting to loosen up and Eddie was quick to pick up on that, dragging his hips back before pushing all the way in.
“G-god!” You squealed and he grinned. He loved when you swore.
All at once he was dropping his body onto yours, surprising you with the sloppy way he captured your lips into a kiss. The feeling of how quickly your mouth reacted to him, distracting him from all the comments that were begging to slip through his lips. His reeling mind calmed as you kissed him, your hand reaching up to grasp his jaw.
“F-fuck! Eddie…” Your voice trailed off, not being able to finish the sentence that hung on your lips. Eddie had his head tilted down, watching as your swollen wet pussy swallowed his hard cock. He was able to slide deeper inside of you with your leg up like this, your head was spinning. Leg muscles screaming from being bent so far back, but the feeling between your legs was too good to lose.
The only thing that could be heard throughout the room was the sound of skin slapping and the squelch of your wet pussy, taking him in. If it were any other guy, you would’ve been embarrassed about how wet you were, the way it dropped down your thighs shamelessly.  His hand was dropping down between your legs, the tips of his fingers quick to find your clit. You whimpered, trying to spread your legs wider than they already were. The grin on Eddie’s face didn’t go unnoticed as he started to rub fast circles onto your clit.
“Wish you could see how precious you look right now. Just for me,” He mumbled the last part, a soft chuckle leaving his lips.
He was close. You could tell from the way he wasn’t moving so quickly anymore. His focus now on getting you to your finish before him. It was like he knew you were at your edge, all you needed was just a few brushes of his fingers and some strong thrusts and you were falling apart. He watched as you unraveled, hips lifting and bucking without your accord.
Loud screams of his name fell from your lips and he loved the sound of it. Eddie wasn’t far behind you, fucking into you a few more times before wrapping your legs tight around his waist. He pressed his body tight against yours as he released into the condom, grunts, and groans of praise for you leaving his lips.
"How's that for spicing things up uh?" it amazed you how calmed he sounded while you were still trying to breathe normally. You were exhausted, never really realized how lucky you were he was always down to go to your place, right now you only wanted to sleep but you gotta go home for that. No way you’re gonna fall asleep without Ronald, your stuffed koala. “Can I ask you something?”
“I guess so” you turned to face Eddie, he was putting his boxers back on. “I can’t walk to my car anyways”
“Are you really dropping out of college?” he put special emphasis on really, making you notice that he didn’t believe it.
“I am”
“Why?”
“None of your business”
“I just think is brave” his eyes looked so dreamy. You had sex for him for a reason, he was an attractive guy with a high sex appeal, but other than finding him sexy you never stopped and just admire his features for a second. He was staring at the ceiling with an arm behind his head and under the pillow. “Like, you had all you wanted your whole life and now you’re challenging your parents? Why?”
His side profile was beautiful, his long lashes covered his eyes like a frame and his nose was really cute. He also had soft cheeks, the kind of cheeks you want to bite. With his free hand, he looks for your fingers and starts to play with them, you felt his big rings on your skin, the moment was becoming intimate.
“We’re not doing this” you jumped off the bed, changing as fast as you can and ignoring the confused boy on the bed.
“Doing what? I just asked you something”
“I said it before, it’s none of your business” you were putting your bra when you saw him getting changed too. “We don’t need to do this”
“Oh I see, sorry for trying to get to know the girl I’ve been fucking since last year, how inconsiderate of me to see you as more than a quick fuck”
“I’m not looking for a boyfriend Eddie”
“Then you’re in luck 'cause you’re not my type doll” you knew it was wrong, but seeing him so annoyed made him look more attractive. Eddie was known as a silly dramatic guy, and now he was displeased, angry even. “Can’t we at least be friendly?”
“That’s a recipe for disaster”
“I like disasters princess”
His curly, dark hair brushed against his eyebrows, tempting you to touch and play with it. Getting to know Eddie never crossed your mind, you only see him as someone to release your desires. Maybe he was right, maybe not but you were unsure of it. And both ways could end in chaos, there was too much at risk, for starters, your parents were already disappointed in you and if someone went to them with the gossip of you befriending a boy they wouldn’t approve terrified you. His big baby cow eyes never stopped following you, with all your clothes on, you were already at the door, your mind all over the place. Just as you turned to leave, he caught your wrist making stand in front of him.
“You’ve trusted me to worship your body, can’t you trust that my intentions about being just friends are real?”
“Ok” what’s all you said. At this point there was no escape, you’ll have to learn to befriend someone like Eddie, something inside you knew it was a bad idea, a chaotic kind of idea, because you weren’t sure if you wanted to be his friend for real, or you were only doing it because he full field your desires like no one else. After all, friends can make the best lovers.

Around the Realms in 80 days- Chapter 18
Pairing: Reader x Loki
Story summary: You have fallen through a portal during the convergence into Asgard and come face to face with Thor, and his brother Loki. With no way to return, you must travel with the two men and their hoard of asgardian soldiers to get back home. Things get from bad to worse when you have to share a tent with the god of mischief himself.
Notes: Oh hi there! Welcome to another chapter (this Is pretty good timing for me, two chapters in a month? Who says I don't feed you! This was a fun chapter to write, I did a lil bit of breaking the 4th wall here lol! I know a lot of you hated Latte to begin with because she was a lil nervy and didn’t always stick up for herself (Im only going off on what I would be like guys lmao some of us are very soft and not at all brave or heroic) and I know she’s a bit of a reluctant hero or an anti-hero, she'd much rather be chilling somewhere with her coffee than faced with this shit!
Anyway, enjoy!

Jesus Christ…” You muttered under your breath as you stormed off, leaving Stark Towers behind you.
“Uh…Latte?”
You span round to face Oliver, who was having to do a fast pace walk to catch up with you.
“What?” You asked rather sharper than you intended.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry, that’s so embarrassing. It’s been…”
“Stressful morning?” Oliver grinned good-naturedly.
You sighed. “Kind of.”
“I can’t imagine. Where do you want to go?”
“Honestly I don’t know the city at all.” You forced a smile, trying to forget L-O-K-I and enjoy the rest of your day.
“Where would you recommend?”
Oliver smiled again. He was a smiley person, you noticed. Unlike he-who-shall-not-be-named who usually looked unimpressed at best, especially when you were around. He looked cute again today; it felt strange seeing him without his lab coat on, as if he was missing something somehow. He was wearing jeans and a graphic tee-shirt, his brown hair tousled again as if he constantly runs his hands through it, and his hazel eyes seemed to light up when he smiled. His face was open and sincere, again unlike Loki who was closed and harsh. Maybe there was something to be said of their life experiences though; while you didn’t know much about Oliver and his life, you doubted he had ever tried to take over an entire planet and been defeated and imprisoned.
Still…suppose you can never be too careful. Enough tinder dates had taught you that.
You realised you had been staring at him and hadn’t listened at all to his response.
“Sorry, what did you say?” You asked sheepishly.
He laughed, “I suggested we could go to the museum of modern art? Or if you would prefer to just see some sights we could go to times square…?”
“Museum sounds good. Sorry, I’m a little distracted.”
He chucked as you started heading off in the direction of the museum together. The day continued to be pleasant enough and you actually began to enjoy your stroll despite the way the morning had gone.
Oliver broke the cordial silence.
“So then, I guess the number one question…how did you get landed with the task of being Loki’s…companion?”
“Companion?” You screwed your face up.
Oliver laughed, “well, whatever you’d call your relationship.”
“I try not to call it anything.” You muttered under your breath.
You begin to explain the situation to Oliver, and the rollercoaster that was yours and Loki’s so called “relationship”.
Oliver gave a low whistle after you finally finished regaling him with your sorry tale of woe.
“Man…that’s heavy.”
“Horrible isn’t it.” You sighed glumly.
“I can’t believe you got kidnapped!”
“Kidnapped, bullied by trolls, meeting Loki, it’s been the worst of times.”
He laughed and you scowled at him.
“It’s not funny, my life is a Shakespearen tragedy.”
“No no, of course not, I’m sorry. Is meeting Loki really as bad as being attacked by trolls?”
“Far, far worse.”
For some reason, Oliver seemed to think you were joking and laughed.
But…you do seem to find yourself in some scrapes don’t you.”
“Scrapes find me, I am merely a passive entity to which disaster finds.”
“I find that a little difficult to believe, given that by the sounds of it you basically begged to stay here.” Olivers eyes twinkled with good-hearted mirth.
“That’s…that’s beside the point.”
“Of course, of course. You know…I’m not so sure though.”
“About what?”
“If I didn’t know any better, and despite all your complaining, I’d say you rather enjoy traveling around with Loki.”
You spluttered, “What? What are you trying to say?”
“Loki this, Loki that. I’m just saying, for someone who hates him so, you do enjoy talking about him.”
You stared at him, horrified. An awful though suddenly appeared…over the past few weeks had you managed to pass the Bechdel test?
“That’s not…” The words got stuck in your throat.
Maybe Oliver could tell how nauseated you were because he said gently,
“I’m joking Latte. It sounds like you’ve been through hell and back. You’ve been so brave I’m not sure many people could do what you have done.”
You blushed and stuttered for a different reason.
“I’m sure that’s not true. Besides I didn’t really have a choice. Sink or swim I guess. I was pretty cowardly to begin with, I let Loki scare the shit out of me. I’m not…a brave person, I’m not particularly tough.”
“I would disagree, the story you just told me would suggest otherwise. Jesus knows I couldn’t have done half the things you did, I would have laid in the corner and cried.”
You snorted.
“Arguably, that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing.”
“You’re the hero, you have to go through some sort of journey.” Oliver winked at you.
“Oh please, I’m definitely the anti-hero, the people at home watching the inevitable film of my life will be screaming at the tv I’m sure.”
“Well, anti-hero or not, I’d watch that movie.”
You really wanted to make a snide comment about that making Loki the villain in this particular story, but you kept your mouth shut given that Oliver seemed to think you were infatuated with the Asgardian God. Definitely not true, by the way.
“Sure, ‘my life as the worlds worst avenger’ coming to cinemas soon.”
“I think I’d prefer ‘How to train your fire demon.’” Oliver joined in.
“Or, ‘Asgardian Psycho.”  You snorted, thinking back to Loki.
“What about ‘An Earthling in Asgard?”
You grinned, “it’s good, but a little on the nose, plus I’m not just in Asgard anymore, I’m quite the realm traveler.”
“Fine then, how about ‘Around the Realms in 80 days.”
You laughed, “That’s not bad, you never know with the rate things are going I might end up doing just that.”
“How are you feeling about your upcoming trip?”
You sighed, a little wave of anxiety settling into your stomach.
“Pretty nervous. I’m not sure who I think I’m kidding being here in the first place, and now apparently I’m traveling to a dangerous realm of fire and brimstone, where I’ll probably get myself killed no doubt.” You paused,
“Sorry, I don’t mean to offload! It can’t be much worse than the current state of things anyway.”
“Please, don’t feel bad!”
“Maybe some modern art will cheer me up. Hey, actually, how did you find out my stupid nickname?” You asked, realising he had been calling you your misnomer.
Oliver laughed sheepishly,
“Well, I heard Thor call you that when he was talking to Stark yesterday.”
“Oh god, what did he say?”
“Only good things!” Oliver hurried to reassure you. “Just discussing your amazing performance with the demon in the cell.”
“Hm, I don’t believe you but for the sake of my self-esteem I won’t press further.”
After a short walk, you made it to the museum and followed Oliver inside. You insisted on paying for your own ticket, of course.
You had just about settled into an enjoyable afternoon, wandering around the exhibits when your phone starting beeping. You ignored it at first and then your phone started ringing.
You stared at it and blinked twice as Loki’s named popped up on your phone. It had also been him texting you apparently. The message flashed on your screen.
                   Loki: There’s an emergency
“Is everything okay? You look ill.” Oliver asked.
“This can’t be good.” You sighed. “Let me take this.”
You walked over to the entrance of the exhibit as to not disturb everyone there.
“Loki?”
“Hello little mortal, enjoying yourself on your, what do the young midgardians call it, A date?” Loki spoke lazily.
“Its not a date!” You hissed loudly into the phone, raising some eyebrows around you.
“It’s not a date.” You repeated again quietly as you turned your back.
“I think the lady doth protest too much.”
“Seriously what is wrong with you?”
“Not much, what’s up with you?”
You could basically feel Loki’s irritating grin through the phone.
“God you give me whiplash. What do you want Loki I’m busy.”
“Not too busy to pick up the phone I see.” You could hear a smug tone to his voice.
“I only picked it up because you said it was an emergency.”
“What emergency could I possibly need your help with.”
“Okay, goodbye Loki.”
“Wait, actually there is an emergency.”
You sighed and rubbed your forehead. Man, this god was going to turn you grey.
“What?” You snapped. You were in no doubt there was no emergency and Loki was ringing you to just mess with you.
There was a pause on the phone. You considered hanging up before he finally continued,
“Stark has arranged for a movie night tonight and we all have to attend.” In his defence Loki sounded very glum, as if something horrible had truly happened.
“That’s not an emergency Loki. Now excuse me while I go back to my not date.”
“Where are you?” He asked.
Your eyes narrowed suspiciously, and you looked around you, scared incase he popped up from behind a statue or something.
“Were in the museum of modern art. Why?”
“No need to sound so distrustful.” Loki sounded amused, “I had no idea you were such a connoisseur of fine art, you never struck me as the type.”
You bristled at his insinuation that you were not sophisticated enough to enjoy art.
“I actually love going to museums. Just because I don’t walk around acting like I’m the dogs bollocks doesn’t mean I’m not cultured.”
“Do you have to use such crass language when we speak?”
“Do we have to speak at all?” You retorted back, still scanning the room slightly just incase he showed up.
“I visited your planet with Odin and Thor when I was a child and we visited a place called Rome, they had a great number of many museums.”
“Oh? Was this when Julius Caesar was still in power?”
Loki ignored your comment,
“Of course, not as many as we have on Asgard. Since you are so interested in museums I can visit together the next time we visit.” He spoke lightly.
You paused, was Loki asking you out? And not just because he had to because of the whole babysitting thing?
“Uh, yeah. I guess I didn’t think that I would go back though, to Asgard. Odin wasn’t mighty pleased I was there in the first place.”
“Odin is not usually mighty pleased about anything, especially if I’m involved.” He kept his voice light and humorous, but there was something deeper underneath.
The admission came as a surprise, you weren’t that used to Loki speaking about his feelings (kind of) so easily and you were stumped for a response.
“Well New York has plenty of museums too.” You offered, unsure of what else to say.
“Indeed.”
The phone went quiet again. It really was unsettling how quickly the two of you seemed to go from arguing to tolerating each other, and even more unsettling, the occasional moments of companionship with a hint of friendship.
Not that you were sure he would put you in that category with  the way he had recently snapped at you; when you’d tried to enquire about his parenthood and just before you came on this not date. Although he had also magicked your up a new wardrobe and seemed to get very upset when he thought you were dying so that had to count for something, right?
Come to think of it, you never actually really addressed the whole “friendship” thing after that long talk the other night on the balcony, where Loki had finally stopped acting like a dick for long enough as to apologise for his actions and have a serious conversation about where you stood with him. He had really opened up then, about how he felt about getting close to mortals. You supposed you couldn’t really be too shocked then, when he seemed to distance himself from you a little the last few days.
The hot and cold act was not enjoyable but was almost understandable if you saw things from his perspective. You just had to be careful not to get burnt or frozen in the process.
Not that anyone wants to look at things from Lokis perspective for too long, they’d get a migraine.
Look at you being all mature and shit!
You thought back to those nights of sharing a tent with Loki, it felt so long ago now despite not being long ago at all. You had been so scared of him then, so unsure of how he would react next.
Now? Well he was still a mystery and could still be a complete arse, but perhaps he was opening up to you, slowly. You needed to be patient but only to an extent right, he was obviously a complex guy; not that that gave him a right of passage to be a knob.
“What are you up to then now?” You asked.
To your surprise, Loki played along.
“Well now you’re gone I get to enjoy some peace and quiet for once, reading my books.”
You almost hit back with “so that’s why you called me then, is it?” But stopped yourself. You realised then that Loki was bored. That’s why he’d been so annoyed that you had spent the afternoon with Oliver. Probably.
I mean, aside from you and Thor, it’s not like he had a lot of friends from what you had seen. Another thing the two of you actually had in common. You didn’t have a lot of friends here either.
You bit down on your nails, an old habit you had whenever you felt anxious about something.
“Stop that dreadful noise or I shall put the phone down.”
Only paying half attention, you stepped back into someone and banged your side pretty hard.
“Ow, dickhead.” You muttered as they shot you a dirty look and walked off.
“What? What’s happening?” Loki barked.
“Oh nothing, just this asshole walking into me.”
“Was it that Midgardian boy?”
“What midgardian boy?” You asked absent-mindedly. “Oh shit, Oliver.” You suddenly remembered your not-date probably wondering what the hell you were doing.
“Anyway, I should get back to…I’ll see you later.”
“yes.” Loki said stiffly “I’d hate to keep you from your beau.”
“Nobody says beau anymore by the way. S’later.”
“Goodbye mortal.”
You hung up your phone and quickly went to rejoin Oliver.
“Hey, sorry I took so long.”
“Everything okay?”
“Literally fine, he just wanted to complain about Tonys movie night or something.”
“Look at you, movie nights with the Avengers!”
“I know, I’m going up in the world. Careful what you say to me now, I’ve got the force of Earths defenders on my side.”
Oliver chuckled and held his hands up.
“I see that. Remind me not to get on the wrong side of you.”
You turned back to the photography exhibit, wondering what it would actually be like to visit a museum with Loki one day.
                                                                   ***
You wandered back into the towers later that evening. After the museum, you had gone for a few drinks with Oliver and, as it was, you were feeling rather tipsy.
Actually, this was the second time you had been tipsy in the last few days, you reminded yourself, better not make it a habit.
Still, Oliver was cute, right?
Not rip-my-clothes-off-and-take-me cute, but cute all the same.
He was very sweet and funny too and although you maybe saw him as friend-material at the moment, that didn’t mean something couldn’t happen in the future. Plus it was nice to have a friend that wasn’t a hundred year plus old god.
You could get used to the city living, although there was a part of you that missed the Asgardian country side too.
The atrium into Stark Towers took your breath away, you felt far too unsophisticated to be staying there. It was not the sort of place you’d ever particularly imagined yourself but you were going to enjoy your time for as long as you had. Grinning, probably overly familiarly in your slightly drunken state, at the security and receptionists on the ground floor you made your way over to the lift, preparing to stand there for all of eternity due to the many floors. You decided to turn your phone back on to check for any messages you missed after turning your phone off earlier to save battery.
Two missed calls and a few texts from Loki?
Loki: When are you retuning mortal it is nearly dark?
Loki: Mortal?
Loki: Answer my calls right this instance or there will be consequences.
Loki: Loki, Prince of Asgard.
You snorted and replied.
You: Why did you text me your own name, weirdo. What’s up?
And for the fun of it, you sent him a little gif of the “wazup” scene in Scary Movie.
Making your way up the many floors in Starks state of the art lift, you waited for Loki to reply.
Loki: How dare you not answer me when I asked you to. Clearly, you needed reminding of who I am. Secondly, what, in all of the nine realms is that?
You: Firstly, I’m not just at your beck and call Loki, I was a bit busy. Secondly, It’s a gif. It’s just like a moving picture that you send to be funny.
Loki: Busy? With that midgardian boy? Disgusting. I didn’t find the moving picture particularly amusing. Please don’t send me one again.
You: Get your mind out of the gutter.
You were hit with a sudden inspiration. You quickly searched for the gif you wanted and found it. Who knew there were so many Loki gifs. The particular one you were after was Loki shouting “kneel” to the ground in Stuttgart during his last soiree to Earth.
Loki: ?
Loki: It is imperative that you tell me how you acquired this.
You laughed out loud to yourself, as you put your phone away wishing you could see Loki’s face as you had send that gif.
You figured, given the time, that Stark would have already started the film night, so you headed towards the most likely lounge areas on the penultimate floor. Your guess was right, and you could see through the glass doors the Avengers sat around watching what you were pretty sure was Kill Bill.
The sight made you giggle, and you remembered you needed to try very hard at not being a little bit drunk. You were pretty sure the Avengers all thought you were slightly strange to begin with, you needed to change their mind.
You shushed yourself aloud, and prepared to enter quietly and normally. Quietly and normally. Quietly and normally.
You pushed the door slightly and entered. So far so good, no one had particularly noticed you entering. Quiet and normal. Excellent. You scanned the room, looking for an empty seat. Your long distance eye sight wasn’t great as it is thanks to years of starting at screens and it was pretty dark, but you thought there was one free near Thor so you headed over silently.
That was, until, someone very rudely had put a pouff right in your way and you tripped up, slamming your knees into the side of a sofa.
“Shit” You yelled, rather loudly.
All the Avengers in the room turned and started at you.
“Nice of you to join us Wonderland, please come in.” Stark said, dryly.
You grinned wildly, deciding it best not to say anything, and took the closest seat.
“Mortal.” A low voice spoke to your left.
“Oh for gods sake” You muttered and glared at Loki for the audacity of sitting where you were now forced to sit.
Loki seemed amused by this reaction and smirked at you irritatingly. You glared even harder and then faced the TV.
“You’re back very late.” Loki spoke softly next to you, with a note of contention in his voice.
You decided to ignore him, and tried to focus on the film. You’d never actually seen Kill Bill all the way through and coming in half way was pretty confusing. Loki tried again.
“I hope you haven’t been fraternising with your mortal boy?”
“Stop accusing me of fraternising every three seconds, and it’s none of your business even if I was." You huffed out of the corner of your mouth, as to not disturb the rest of them.
Loki looked annoyingly happy that you had risen to the bait.
“I’m going to get popcorn.” You mumbled, and stood up to head towards the back of the room where the snacks and were.
You stood up too quickly and had to grab the sofa and a blink a couple of times until the black dots stopped floating in front of you. You suppressed the need to giggle and made your way over to the back, being very careful to watch where you placed your feet.
The lights were on towards the back and you squinted to get used to the light change. You hummed about the snack bar; Stark, or more likely someone who worked for him, had thought of literally every snack you might need to watch a film.
Pick and Mix, chocolate, popcorn, and plenty of treats you’d never even seen before.
“What are these?” A voice spoke behind you.
You jumped in the air, very nearly spilling the popcorn you had picked up.
“Jesus Loki.”
You looked around to see if anyone had noticed, but you were pretty far back and out of ear shot around this area.
“Can you not?”
“Not what? He asked, with a fake innocence.
“Not…do whatever you’re doing now.”
“I’m merely standing here.”
“And here I was thinking you had better things to do than stand and talk to Midgardians.” You repeated his words from earlier back at him.
Loki rolled his eyes at you.
“You surely know how to hold a grudge.”
“I surely do bitch.”
He didn’t find this very funny and shot you a displeased look.
“You are drunk again.”
You tutted and made double sure no one was listening.
“I’m not drunk Low-key.” You elongated his name as you helped yourself to some more sweets “I am a little tipsy maybe. Also you make it sound like all I do is constantly drink.”
“Well you have been drunk twice in barely as many days.”
“That was your brothers fault remember?”
He let out a long suffering sigh, as if he didn’t particularly want to remember.
“What are you eating?” He crinkled his nose up as you scuffed another gobful of popcorn.
“Popcorn.” You said, with your mouth half full.
“Are mortals taught any table manners at all?” He asked, disapprovingly.
“Do you not have popcorn on Asgard.”
He looked down at the spread of snacks.
“No.” He said carefully.
“Well what do you eat for sweets then?”
“I suppose we have nuts and grapes.”
“Some nuts and grapes? Christ no wonder you’re so highly strung.”
You gathered a plate up for him with selection of all the amazing confectionary Earth had to offer. “Here, try these.”
You stared at him in excitement as he ate a handful of Haribos.
“Well?”
“Hm. I’m not sure I enjoy this texture.”
“Try this next!” You very nearly shoved some popcorn into his mouth  in your excitement and then realised that would probably get you killed, which would have been messy in Starks fancy lounge; so you just pointed to it instead.
Watching Loki try new things was surprisingly very entertaining to you. It was unusual to see Loki look so unsure of himself, as normally he swanned around cocky as anything.
You sighed, thinking back once again to the other night on the balcony. Loki was very good at brushing over any moments of vulnerability, even though he occasionally showed it in moments like this.
With his slightly furrowed forehead and quizzical expression as he tried earthly sweets was the epitome of vulnerable.
Loki made eye contact with you while you stared at him and swallowed his sweets down.
“Why are you looking at me like that mortal?” He asked, suspiciously.
“Nothing.” You smiled to yourself
“Now you are smiling like a loon. I hope you are not loosing your mind over that boy. We have a mission to complete, or have you forgotten?” He frowned at you, disgruntled.
“How could I forget the fact I’m heading to a burning wasteland soon.” You said sadly, thinking of your up and coming trip which, at best, ends in your death.
“There is no reason to be nervous. You have proved yourself rather difficult to maim.” Loki stated, deliberately.
“Physically maybe but I’m going to need a hell of a lot of therapy when this is over.” You muttered. “Suppose I should enjoy this last moment of calm before the storm.”
“What storm?” Loki asked cautiously.
“It’s just a figure of speech.”
“Hm.” Loki made a non committal humming noise.
“Let’s go finish off the film, I need the escapism.”
You sat back down together and tried to refocus on the film. You mind kept wandering however and  you remained restless.
Were things between you and Loki changing? How many Loki gifs could you send of himself before he murdered you in your sleep?
And, most importantly, what fresh hell awaited you in the realm of fire?
A/N: Who enjoyed my fourth wall break (kinda?) haha! Also keep tuned folks for some more plot (finally) after a couple of plot-less chapters!

I have a question for you. I’m curious 👀 do you think Max won’t wake up or at least there’s a possibility that she won’t?
tbh as a tragedy enjoyer i would fucking love it if max didn't come back as a callback to this brenner moment:
“today’s lesson is going to be about rules. for some of you, this may seem redundant. for others, it appears a refresher is required. […] you think because you demonstrate some talent that you’re somehow immune to the rules, is that it? that the rules don’t apply to you in the same way that they apply to your brothers and sisters?”
regarding the rules of life and death and playing god etc etc, as well as the whole "just because you can doesn't mean you should" thing because yeah she's alive as in her heart is beating but she's Not Actually There in her body/mind so is she really alive or did el just prolong the inevitable as well as everyone's suffering blah blah blah
AND it would add Real Actual stakes for once and really FEEL like a genuine loss because so far the party has had profound plot armor but now that wouldn't be the case anymore! it would feel like they were in real actual danger! and genuinely fighting for their lives with a level of seriousness and desperation we haven't seen before! it would feel so Grown Up and like the actual end of the world and give the effect that they were aiming for when they said we were supposed to feel like they'd lost lmao
but i feel like el's "i make my own rules" is already the Good^tm version of vecna's "i could make my own rules." because she says it to free herself and help others whereas vecna said it with intention to kill and subjugate others so, like. rip.
i don't think they would kill her and revive her and put her in a coma just to kill her again, and also she's a kid, so i do think she's going to wake up eventually. i'm also expecting her to be in vecna's mindscape which is why el can't find her in max's own mind. there's the possibility that they may still pull the plug later on, but like. idk. they've gone dark before, but i'd need more content to go off of to start thinking that could actually happen to a member of the party versus just another guest star.
also she and lucas got a movie to catch on friday sooooooo :p ain't no way they're missing that! they've gotta make good on that.
