Whose life series pov(s) did you watch and who do you plan on watching in the next season?

I started with good ol friendly grian for 3L. grian, mumbo, and a little bit of scar for LL. DL was the first time I watched the series as it premiered so I ended up viewing grian, scar, tango, jimmy, and pearl! with a few episodes from most everyone else.

honestly I learned the value of watching multiple povs with DL. you just get so much more of the story and happenings on the server when you do (looking at you desert duo)

so I’ll probably stick to grian, scar, mumbo (if he’s in it), the ranchers if they Do Some Ranching (a girl can dream), and anyone who catches my interest

No like, by the time 2023 had ended, literally every minecraft series that I watch finished. I mean, it makes sense, the cc’s wanted to wrap up for the new year, but we literally walked into 2024 with absolutely nothing.

I’ve been watching Joel for years now and it honestly kind of feels like a dream seeing him finally becoming a hermit. He and Skizz are perfect fits for this series!!

I’m planning on watching more cc’s this season, since last time I only watched Gem. I might not have time tbh, but I’ll make it work-

Whats your thoughts on mk monkie form and the specials? To me I'm not worried about mk monkie form like he'll be fine but it's going to be rough not only bc mk monkie form

Is connected to his trauma and a flight or fight response, it connects to his emotions

I think mk needs to heal with his monkie form But it wouldn't be easy bc of it still glitches and struggling buy all in all I'm not worried

I definitely think it’s connected to his emotions, like you said. I thought of it as being connected to his negative, “loud” emotions. (Such as fear, stress, and anger). I’ve seen a few people saying it’s his “evil” form, which I think is just… kind of yucky. Idk, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think it (unintentionally) paints a bad image of mental health. Of course, not their intention! I understand where it comes from, as it seems that the Monkey is kind of like… An unfiltered version of himself. So much trauma and negativity he’s trapped inside from what could be years (not sure of the LMK timeline) of trauma. It’s like a really bad mental breakdown, and he can’t control himself during them. But that doesn’t make him evil. Just irks me to hear people say that.

The glitching is REALLY COOL visually and concept-wise, it’s like a visualisation of him trying to hide his problems from others. Trying to keep his trauma, his negativity all within himself. Trying to keep it out of sight. The curse is telling him to embrace it, and furthering his idea that all of these feelings inside of him are bad, chaotic, destructive.

I’m really excited to see Sun Wukong try and train Monkie Kid in the upcoming season(s). I hope they end up having a heart-to-heart once they realise it’s about his bottled up emotions (IF that’s what it is, we don’t really know). I would love to see a scene of Wukong having to hold MK back in this monkey form, maybe he goes too far while in this state, and Wukong has to stop him from doing something he regrets.

GOD can you imagine it? MK losing it, possibly crying, and as he’s about to go too far, Wukong pulls him back, restraining him. He’s like..

“MK!” And he’s like grunting while MK struggles against him, “Snap out of it, bud!”

My plans right now are for the story to run from early season 7 -> mid season 9. (This is because that was my area of expertise when I began writing this as i started watching hermitcraft in early 2020 and i started properly working on the au about halfway through 2023 lol.)

I don’t want to spoil too much, but the actual end of the fic isn’t going to be them figuring their shit out :P (I DONT MEAN THIS IS AN ANGSTY WAY OOPS. THEY WILL FIGURE IT OUT A DECENT AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE FIC ENDS.) its scarian it’s gonna be so so silly. but…. As a clue… i first thought of the idea for this during the s8-s9 hiatus, and the timeline for it only really solidified after double life ;)

I’m trying to write it mostly scar/grian pov, but I’m including other povs in the earlier chapters to try and show just how silly everything is from the outside view of the others lmao. So a significant part of chapter 4 is actually gonna be cub pov! I’m pretty excited for it, since ive only recently started watching cub!

3, what first drew me to her.

Before Ein and Aikawa my favourite was Aohara, but it quickly changed to adoring Ein, What really drew me to her is her dress actually. I thought “wow her dress is cuteee I’m gonna pay attention to her more” and i fell in LOVE.

YES. I call her prettygirl. It stemmed from me rambling about her in class whilst i was persuading my friend to read and watch hri (success, gonna persuade her to join tumblr next >:D). She called her pretty so i was like “yes yes she is prettygirl” so now i just call her prettygirl whenever i talk about her irl XD.

For ein, definitely spring, 100%. When i think of spring, i think of flowers, and Ein reminds me of flowers for no reason.

For aikawa, id have to say late autumn, specifically late. I dont know why but its so fitting 😭

I think there’s more trek people over here than other places I’ve been posting. Anyway, I just saw the musical episode of SNW and aaaaaa aaaaaa the soundtrack is available aaaaaaa I thought this had high potential to be bad but it was adorable and worked really well actually!

It took me a while to warm up to this show but between the Lower Decks crossover and the musical episode especially I am dead. Laughed myself to death. Good stuff. Also the serious episodes were all right, too.

The series really seems to be at its finest when they're doing a deep dive into a single (or two) character's backstory. I just wish that a lot of this had been sprinkled through season one instead of OH BY THE WAY’d into season two episode one and then paced better afterwards. Maybe the last ep will bookend it somehow, I’m sort of hoping. I see a lot of threads being set up for the next season which excites me since I think they’re doing a better job this time out. But season two changed my mind on the whole series for sure. I dunno, I am not a tv writer for a reason I guess. *shrug*

Everyone has so much more depth this season and I really like it. I liked all the characters in the first go round, I just wanted them to do more and now they are and I think it’s great. I always liked TOS and now this feels like a proper nod to all of it, along with the new.

Okay. I’ve given it some thought, so here’s my two cents for the fandom:

Overall, I enjoyed season 2. I did. I binged the whole thing in less than two days, it was THAT good. And I’m rewatching it while I still can bc I won’t have Netflix anymore at the end of the month (thanks for ending the password sharing bullshit Netflix, y’all are losing five clients in a single go, congratulations). So just listen.

I had so much fun watching this, through and through. I laughed, I mourned, I aww’d, I nearly ripped my hair out at the character shenanigans (looking at you, Kaz). It was GOOD, it was cool. The changes, though... I’m not entirely sure I’m all about them. I’ll speak for the Six of Crows and King of Scars duologies because I’ve read those, I haven’t picked up the Shadow & Bone trilogy so I won’t touch up on those plots much because I have nothing to compare them to. I thought they were fine, it was fun watching it all play out and how it ended.

The good stuff first, then. The characters are all PERFECT. In fact, I think what held this show together so well was the characters themselves and seeing them all interact. WhiCH MEANS I NEED MORE TOLYA AND NINA BONDING OVER FOOD AND NIKOLAI AND KAZ TRYING TO OUTSMART EACH OTHER AND INEJ AND JESPER DYNAMICS AND-- You get it. 

I guess I’m just... disappointed that it was all so rushed. Like, when I realized we were watching basically the whole plotline for Crooked Kingdom BEFORE Six of Crows, my whole heart dropped to my feet. It was like “woah, what?” What does this mean for the Crows’ future, then? And the reason why I’m disappointed is because I was expecting it all to come MUCH LATER when we have Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom as it’s own show, just like the books.

This feels like... ew, it feels like fanservice. Like they didn’t know what to do with the Crows until they became relevant for the Shadow & Bone plot so they shoe-horned CK into it to play for time, and it made all those delicious scenes that were carefully built up in the story fall flat due to lack of context. Examples:

They killed Heleen off-screen so Inej won’t get to screw her over and get much deserved payback for being trafficked into sexual slavery; 

We don’t get ANY Helnik development that culminates into that heartbreaking last scene, and in fact we don’t even get to see Nina and Matthias interact except for a couple of scenes from a distance and Matthias’ horny daydreaming;

We don’t get to see how Wylan not being able to read affected HIS ENTIRE LIFE until he ends up with the Crows;

We get a snippet of Jesper’s backstory but THAT’S IT; 

Wesper was CUTE AS HELL I LOVE MY TWO LITTLE GAYS SO MUCH AAAAAA but again, I was looking forward to the slow burn;

Matthias allying with Pekka Rowlins in prison is kinda cool actually, I’m interested to see where that’s going plus the fact we’re not done with Rowlins yet, but I swear if they butcher Matthias’ arch for something more action packed and exciting, I am going to physically vomit;

Kaz breaking into the Slat to beat up Per Haskell’s gang as a one man army running on THE POWER OF TEENAGE HORNINESS, one of my most favorite scenes in the book that I was looking forward to, makes no sense because we never see the Dregs in the show again (that I remember, we’ll get back on that after a rewatch) so what was the point?? 

We got Kaz’s backstory, but it was spedrun through so it ends up not having much of an impact. I know if I had gone in blind without all I know from reading the Six of Crows duology, it wouldn’t have mattered much to me no matter how much I loved the character. We don’t even get to know Jordie much, and knowing a little about him is what makes his demise and Kaz’s story so crushing and compelling. This is one of the core rules of character writing, for fuck’s sake! I’m no professional but even I know this! If you don’t get to know the character, you can’t connect with that character and so anything that happens to them is just “oh that’s sad. ANYWAY.” Without having read the books, the whole thing falls apart! Can you tell how much I detest fanservice? I went into this show knowing basically nothing about it and I loved it because the story’s pace and the character moments and the twists were SO WELL CRAFTED AND PUT TOGETHER. Hell, this show is what got me running to the store to buy Six of Crows and devouring it all the way to Rule of Wolves, so again, and I cannot stress this enough, what the fuck is going on here??

Individually, the scenes related to Crooked Kingdom were great. Pretty decently adapted, and like I said, perfect character emulation. The only one I didn’t enjoy as much was Kaz helping Inej with her arm because the baggage that was supposed to build it up is missing, so it got watered down to him just cleaning that cut instead of battling through his touch aversion and winning just long enough for him to actually bandage her and treat her wounds and even managing to kiss her neck! It feels like such a victory in the book before it all comes crashing down because we got A BOOK AND A HALF worth of mutual pinning and learning how crippling it is for Kaz to even think about skin-to-skin contact. The scene I read over and over again for days, cut down to a couple of minutes of basically not much. Sad.

Also they’re setting up for Tolya to fall in love with Inej (which I can’t blame him for, I mean, it’s Inej) and I’m like “uh, NO?” Not just because Kanej is THE SHIP for me, but because... Okay, no, I admit it’s just because Kanej is THE SHIP for me, but that’s my fault. Who knows, maybe they’ll make something interesting with this. I mean, they wouldn’t permanently break up one of the most iconic couples in literature just for the giggles or (dreaded) subversion of expectations, right?... Right..........?

For the rest of it, because I read the King of Scars duology, I’m kinda mad at some of the things they changed because I was expecting Alina and Mal to have a happily ever after taking care of their 500 orphans in Keramzin? I was expecting Genya to have SOME happiness before David is killed, just cut this girl some slack, would ya??? And Mal becoming Sturmhond?? Where did THAT come from??????? WHAT ABOUT INEJ GETTING HER OWN SHIP FROM KAZ AND FOLLOWING HER NEW-FOUND DREAM OF BECOMING THE SCURGE OF ALL SLAVERS?? Sure, she’s gotta find her brother first and then they gotta find their family and all, that’s fine I guess?? At least were giving THAT some room to breathe!!

*Sigh* Look. I got a couple of theories for why this is happening.

One: as previously mentioned, Leigh Bardugo and the rest of the team didn’t know what to do with the Crows so they put in the plot of Crooked Kingdom to buy time for them. I believe it’s well understood within fandom that Shadow & Bone couldn’t have gotten as big of a deal as it did if it weren’t for the Crows, but the Crows would have stood on their own easily enough without Shadow & Bone, so they needed to give them screen time from episode one forward to keep the audience, like they did with season 1. 

Two: Leigh Bardugo and the rest of the team don’t trust Netflix to renew the show to conclusion OR green-light the Six of Crows show (which, y’know, fair), and their faith is so shaky they decided it was best to have Siege & Storm and Ruin & Rising put into a single season (heard book readers say this is what happened), plus bring in the Crooked Kingdom plot to at least give the book fans a consolation treat while still leaving enough loose ends to continue the story IF they do in fact get good news. And since I trust Leigh Bardugo to write a good story because she can, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and willing to believe the second case is true, because that at least makes SOME sense. If the show gets cancelled and Six of Crows never comes to life, I can live with that.

All in all, it was a hell of a ride and I enjoyed myself. It’s not what I wanted, but I had fun and that’s all that matters in the end. I give Shadow & Bone season 2 a solid 7/10. Yup.

Aaaaa women’s short program aaaaaa!

Shoutout to this audience for always applauding a spiral, and for several well-deserved standing ovations. Let’s have all the competitions be in Japan and Canada and maaayybe the United States if they promise to be as hype as they were at Skate America from now on

1. Lindsay Thorngren: She was just wonderful. Definitely my favorite from the US right now, and this is a neat program. (Did a spiral on the lyric “spiral”, I am a simple woman) And she did some kind of wild grabby skate thing, idk what that even was, but so cool. And so exciting for her to be in first! The people there loved her, too

2. Nina Pinzarrone: Very nice. I like her skating better this time, maybe she’s grown on me or maybe she was more relaxed or something. Anyway, I’m glad she also did well thus far after doing so well at her last assignment, keep the momentum going

3. Haein Lee: The jumps were better! I’m happy to see her in medal position, even if by the narrowest of margins. Pls be careful on your illusion. I also always support a program about sirens eating people, and I like her dress

4. Mai Mihara: Aaaa, Mai! I love her, the fans love her, it was so wonderful to see her, and she looked so joyful on the ice. She’s only this low because she did a triple-double, but it looked like that was what she intended, so as long as she did it well and she’s happy, I’m happy. What a wonderful step sequence

5. Ava Marie Ziegler: She was so much fun! She really sold the jazzy program from the first moment, and I loved the Ina Bauer, I can already tell she’s one of those fun skaters who thinks about more than the technical. For a second there the little box showed her flying sit spin was invalidated, but no, phew we’re good

6. Seoyeong Wi: Never seen her before in my life, she was nice. Her dress was so pretty

7. Yelim Kim: Argh the jumps. Argh, the Lutz was downgraded. Argh the combination. But she is so lovely, and the Ina Bauer. Please please please come back strong in the free?

8. Yuna Aoki: Low key my favorite in the entire thing. Skated first in front of a home crowd after not competing much at all for a few seasons and absolutely nailed it, so smooth, so fluid, so expressive, made everything look effortless. Also Lutz-loop- go big or go home I guess

9. Lea Serna: Argh the flip. But I love this program. Eivor is always a win, and she skates it with such ferocity. Also makeup on point, I never notice makeup, but hers was really good

10. Anastasiia Gubanova: Argh the combination! I was really hoping she’d come back and do super well and maybe even medal here after her score at her last competition made her so mad. Still possible, I suppose, Amber made a bigger leap last week

11. Wakaba Higuchi: Nooooo! The jumps! The jumps. But that axel was gorgeous, as always. Can she do an Amber Glenn? That would be wild

12. Lindsay van Zundert: Oh dear the fall and the downgrades. But it’s okay! I saw that she has an Olympics tattoo, I guess that really is A Thing and not just something a handful of people do. I only remember ever seeing her at the Olympics, actually, but I liked her. I hope she does well in the free
