🪞 Will do an extensive study in your powers and how they work and came to be so you can buff it to the maximum

🪞He can hear your heart beat, and he finds it intriguing that it changes to match the person you're copycating, like that person's blood is now yours.

🪞 It's been a long time since Jack was human, so he already lost the grasp on things like "not feeling unique" and shit. So he won't really know how to help you with your crises, but he'll do a in depth study about how confort people and how you like to be comforted to be the best he can be.

🪞 As an Eldritch horror, he doesn't quite grasp human emotions. He's a logic person. So as you guessed, he sucks at comforting you

I wrote this Story as one shot on wattpad but decided to bring it here and make some changes to the story, there will be some edits as well but please enjoy. The war with the ash navi were still going on and all of the clan of pandora and remain humans we're losing many lives and land to the ash navi, soom there was meeting between all the clan and the leading clan of all the ash navi clans. There a deal with stuck for ever lasting peace between all the clan there was multiple deals made for peace, but all of these deal had consequences stated and some hidden consequences as well. None of the olo'eythan could agree with the deals made as none of them were willing to do that but there was one deal, all of them to agree and it had fallen upon the omacayia clan to make sure this deal happened. 

Lani " ......" lani sat there in silence as she was looking at her father and everyone else she couldn't believe what she was hearing. 

Jake " lani" 

Lani " no father please no there most be something else we can do" 

Olo'eythan " there nothing else to do child this is the only deal they had given us" 

Lani " mating with someone I don't know it mot right dad you promised me I could mate for love" 

Olo'eythan 2 " please young lady this is the only way there were not others deal given the ash clan olo'eythan, won't take anything else from us" 

Lani " father please say something speak with the olo'eythan and see" 

Jake " I'm sorry my daughter his son seems like a good man and he will be a good mate for you and it will be great for all the clans" 

Lani " father" 

Neteyam " father is there nothing else we can do" 

Olo'eythan 3 " many people are doing to die amd your daughter is deciding to be selfish and cruel all the death, that  one will be on her hands"

Jake " lani you are dismissed" lani soon left without saying anything else but she could feel all eyes on her some sympathy but with angry and upset. She soon knew the whole clan knew of what happened and were waiting to see her decision, she walked passed families who lost family members in the last battle a couple weeks ago. 

Lani " oh great mother I need your help" lani went to the spirt tree to get some guidance and help, she need someone who was mot going to yell at her or looking at her with hate or disappointment. 

Lani " if I take is offer I will be giving up everything I know and love but o can't be selfish like everyone says, lives can't be destroyed anymore we need peace ... this peace will be good for everyone and I can learn to love my future mate ... yes I have do this for the people their happiness overweighs mine I'm doing it for the people" lani soon said one asst pray before leaving she soon went back to the meeting. 

Lani " I have made my decision I will become the mate of the olo'eythan son for the peace and for the happiness of my people" soon cheers and yips had been made as everyone as soon told peace will become and end of war, as lani will become the mate of future ash navi olo'eythan. The clans had celebrated and everyone praised lani on her future relationship and future. 

The ceremony

Neytiri " you look so beautiful my daughter" lani was getting ready to her wedding to her future mate/husband her mother, sisters, and friends were getting her ready. 

Tsyeria " do you know anything else about him" 

Lani " that he a good warrior and hunter dad also said he a good man as well so I'm lucky"

Kiri " now peace will come and everyone will be happy" 

Ronal " she is ready" soon a horn had blown meaning her future mate had arrived with his family and some of his clan.

Lani " it time for me to meet my mate" lani soon got up and soon left her childhood home and started walking with her mom and sister, she soon spotted the ash navi clan members standing there. 

Jake " olo'eythan ookek here my daughter your son future mate" 

Ookek " hello" Ookek seems to not like Jake as he had been keeping some distance between the two of them.

Lani " hello" 

Ookek " here is Amoyi the future leader of the clan, and lani betrothed" soon a tall ash male navi ahd stepped forward he was taller then neteyam but a bit taller them jake. 

Amoyi " hello lani I hope I cam be a good mate for you" 

Lani " I hope I can be a good mate to you as well Amoyi" soon the ceremony had started as everyone as the tshaik do the ritual for the Union, and it was done in blink of an eye all the clans were there to celebrate and see the Union. Lani and Amoyi will become official mates later on but right now they were seen as mate couple. 

The next day 

Jake " I will miss you my daughter but we will see each other again" 

Y/n " yes father" 

Neytiri " don't worry you will see your home again you will back here soon and we will be a whole family again" 

Y/n " yes mother" 

Neteyam " I and other sibling made you something so you don't forget us" 

Jake " everyone stop worry your sister will be gone for a while but she will be home soon, we won't be apart for long" 

Kiri " well we are still giving to to her"

Ash navi " lani we have to leave the olo'eythan wish to be home with the clan" 

Y/n " yes goodbye everyone" Unknown to everyone was they this deal had consequences that were going to come back go haunt all of the olo'eythans and the clans. As ooke was a man who was smarter then everyone had thought and he knew there was something off about the whole situation, but he was going to deal with that later. 

Amoyi " you will be flying near me" 

Lani " sure" 

??? " wait lani" lani had looked back to see Tsyeria running towards her holding something in her hands.

Tsyeria " this for you a necklace with a pearl and crystal to symbolize our friendship and home"The two girls soon hugged each other and soon a parted. Lani had soon taken off from her home looking back one last time, her heart was breaking but she soon felt someone comforting her to was aymeio.

later that night

Jake “ ………”

Tsu’tey “ my brother is everything all right”

Jake “ yes everything is good … I just hope one day she will come to accept the decision that had been made and forgive me as well” Tsu’tey knew about the deals made being Jake second in command.

???? “ this will be good for all of us even lani, my children and your children will grow with our here to be there to influence them” Jake and tsutey looked back to see tonowair standing there with the other leaders.

Jake “ I hope so maybe this will be good for her and make her into a proper adult and mature, as all her other siblings and friends were doing better then her”

olo’eythans “ sacrifice had to be made we could go with the other deals, we had to do what was best for the clan and our families”

Jake “ one day our sons will rule after us what do we do next, if they find out the truth”

tonowair “ they will all understand our sons will come to terms with it, and your son neteyam will understand as well all is not lost … there just had to been a someone given over and that was lani”

olo’eythan “ we will all be well and maybe something good will come out of his deal as well”

Jake “ I hope so I truly hope so” a deal has been made with the sacrifice and marriage of one daughter, to bring peace and harmony to everyone else. Will also bring broken bones and devastation to many lives as well, with all actions made there are consequences as well. One daughter was given up for the happiness for everyone she loves and cared about, and she will changer over time. When and if the families meet again it will be a joyful moment along with many other emotions as things might never be the same again.

Today's my mom's bd, so my dad, brother and I took her to lunch

School normally ends at 1:40pm, but yesterday and today it ended 12:30pm bc of the project and stuff

Which is perfect cuz I got to go have lunch with my mom for her bd

On Fridays, me and Cloud stay til 4 bc of piano, but I knew I couldn't make it in time (piano starts at 2pm), but I was going to do my best to get there even if it was just 10 minutes

AND I ARRIVED

AND IN THAT EXACT MOMENT THE TEACHER SAID BREAK TIME

So everyone got out of the classroom (except Cloud and I as always)

Today my sides got a lot of attention which is GREAT cuz I've been wanting to be tickled there since like... Yes, the past three weeks

...Well, holy shit. Just when I was getting worried that nobody would get Superman, along comes one of the best comic-book related products we've seen in years, which delivers me so much of the stuff I wanted in a cinematic version of Superman...and is almost perfect. Yeah, it's definitely not perfect, but goddamn if this isn't one of my ideal versions of Superman.

Y'know, I've considered doing sort of a sum-up of the different major adaptations of the Superman mythos by bringing together all the points made in my essays, but I felt it was too much. For this, however, I think that makes sense. And yes, I'm doing this after only 4 episodes have aired, and yes, I realize that what just happened in the most recent episode is fucking insane and something I desperately want in a Superman story...but I'll at least cover my personal approach, since this show's kinda hot right now. And rarely do I have the chance to jump on a burgeoning fandom, so FUCK IT!

But just know that I like it, with a couple of caveats that you've probably already heard about this show.

Clark Kent: Abnormal Superman

Um...did somebody read my essays before I even thought about them, because this is pretty goddamn close to my ideal Clark Kent. He's a big ol' dork with a heart of god who wants to do the right thing, but is also nowhere near perfect in his everyday life and methods. He's a teensy bit clumsy, but still very well-put together. He wants to help when and how he can, and is willing to go along with shenanigans to do so. He has an actual personality, and most importantly, he feels human.

Yeah, this is a dude from Kansas who also happens to be an alien. And good goddamn, is scaling down his powers and knowledge of his past a great idea. Smallville, of course, did this, but that version of Clark was often too serious and rough around the edges. And maybe most importantly, Tom Welling's Clark never seemed like an outcast. I mean, the dude was handsome as all fuck, and built like a linebacker. And yet, I'm supposed to buy that the guy is a loser and outcast? Yeah, no, not buying it. But this Clark? Yeah, the guy's a massive dork. Handsome and built like a fucking freight train, yeah, but still a dork. And maybe most importantly...I don't buy this dude as Superman.

Yeah. Really. I mean, dude is OBVIOUSLY Superman, because he's built like a tank and super nice, but I get not fully seeing this guy as Superman. Somehow, FUCKING SOMEHOW, they pull this off better than literally any other version I've seen since the Christopher Reeves version. And yeah, that's insanely high praise, because Reeves has some of the best dichotomous acting I've ever seen. But this Superman and this Clark both seem like the same person and separate people at the same time somehow. It's an impressive feat that I can barely explain.

And yet...they're still definitely the same person. Any sane person would be able to figure it out eventually, with enough personal interaction. It's one of the reasons why the glasses joke exists, because it really shouldn't make much sense. But in this series, the glasses actually change the shape of his pace, and slight changes in his posture and voice (by the pretty great Jack Quaid) actually do work as a subtle mask for the character. But will that last forever? Well...more on that later.

I also said this before, but I love the fact that we're learning about Clark and his powers as he's learning about himself. This series is obviously anime-inspired, and it really leans into the shonen angle thematically and visually. When the first art for this show came out, I was intrigued but cautious. Now, though, I'm into it. We'll see how the more anime-esque electrical powers work out, but it actually seems like a reference to the sporadically used bioelectric field manipulation ability that Superman has in the comics. Yeah, he has a field of bioelectricity around his body that provides him (and his costume) with invulnerability, and also occasionally gives him plot-convenience powers. Don't ask questions, OK? It's a comic book thing.

Speaking of that, though, the creators are definitely playing fast and loose with the Superman mythos, and I'm interested to see exactly how that plays out as the series continues. I'm a little cautious for reasons to be addressed later, but I'm still quite interested. So, now that we've covered Superman, whom I think is fantastic in his characterization...let's get to the character who I think is excellently represented in this series.

Lois Lane: Intrepid (Intern) Reporter

Jesus Christ, this is a great Lois. There are a lot of ways you can do a good Lois, and there are a number of great Loises, but MAWS' Lois ranks extremely high on that list. Dogged to the point of recklessness, determined to get the truth at all costs, and desperate to be a great reporter, she has the stuff that makes any great Lois. But what really puts her over the edge for me is her characterization. Alice Lee does a fantastic job as Lois' voice, and gives her a mix of naivete, determination, and...oddly, hope. I dunno, there's something about Lee's portrayal that really works for me.

And a lot of people have pointed out two things. One, she's basically Lux from The Owl House. Yeah. And? Fucking and? Luz is a fantastic character in her own right, and very Lois Lane-esque. Personally, I think that's a great and worthy comparison for any version of Luz. Secondly, she's a tomboy. And I think most people on Tumblr are fine with that, but I also see some criticism for that choice. And for those who don't like that...fuck off a little bit. Not a lot, but a little bit. There's nothing wrong with a slightly more tomboyish Lois, and I actually adore a Lois who isn't a damsel in distress all the time. She literally fights some of the bad guys in this series, and we're only four episodes in! Seriously, I love that. And she is occasionally in distress, but she gets into that shit herself, which is exactly what Lois Lane is supposed to do. Look, I love this Lois. Oh, and another thing!

Is Lois Korean? Holy shit, that's fantastic! I said in my second essay that Lois is one of those characters who isn't racially bound in any way. There, I suggested that she could be played by a Latina, which has been hinted at before in some comics. But honestly, this is a great choice! And I only say Korean because, in the most recent episode, she appears to be wearing the top half of a hanbok, which is a traditionally Korean dress. And yeah, I'm fully here for it. Don't know if she's mixed or not (we'll probably see Sam Lane at a later date), but this is great all on its own.

And then, there's the other thing: Lois' position as Superman's Inevitable Love Interest. The ILE is, of course, a tradition in all things superhero comic, and Lois is arguably the first and most famous of all ILEs. Like Thanos before her, she is truly inevitable, and that seems to be at the center of this series. Oh, and at this point...sort of SPOILERS AHEAD??? I mean, come on, this was obviously gonna happen.

By the end of episode 4, these two are clearly romantically interested in each other. Hell, by the end of episode 1, these two are interested in each other. And can I just say that's they're hands fucking down the most adorable Clark and Lois I've ever fucking seen? I mean it, they're the best version of this couple in live-action media, and I can actually see them becoming the comic book versions of that couple.

As a quick compare and contrast of the most notable versions:

Reeves and Kidder were great, but the movies never actually committed in having them be a couple. They actively made sure it wouldn't happen a couple of times, to much irritation, and their relationship never truly blossomed, which was based on the comics at the time.

Fuck Dean Cain...but Cain and Hatcher were pretty good as a couple, pre-and-post-marriage. Which, again, was a part of comics at the time, so it makes sense. Even then, I wouldn't call them particularly cute, just more of a relatively normal couple.

Don't get me wrong, I love Daly and Durance's animated versions of the two...but they never actually became a couple until the very end of Superman: The Animated Series. And we only saw them as Lois and Superman, not Lois and Clark. So, sadly, they don't rank.

Welling and Durance were...off-and-on. Funnily enough, their appearance as this version of the couple in the Arrowverse crossovers was probably better than any other appearance they had, and their appearances in the 10th season were genuinely quite nice. High up there as the best version, and one of my favorites.

Hoechlin and Tulloch are, in my opinion, the best married version of the characters. They honestly nail it, and their chemistry is pretty much perfect. Their versions of the characters still rank pretty high as some of the best, and they're even better as a couple.

Routh and Bosworth...moving on...

Cavill and Adams...well...I mean...they have some chemistry, and...they've definitely had sex. Um. Yeah. That's it. Whoooooo.

O'Connell and Romjin are a little-remembered animated version of the two, and not the only animated version of the two, either. But honestly, they're really good in The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen, and were my favorite animated version of them as a couple...prior to MAWS.

And OK, sure, we've barely seen these two as a couple at this point, but I really like them. They're adorable, they're adorkable, they're supportive of each other, and their chemistry is basically immediate. They're just really cute and fun to watch, and I can't wait to see them progress. Especially because...

OK, I can't stress this enough, but skip the next GIF if you don't want spoilers, and scroll down until you get to Jimmy Olsen. Please. This is a biggie. OK? Got it? Read at your own peril.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT ARE YOU SERIOUS THEY ACTUALLY DID IT

If you've read my Superman essays, you know that I want movie Lois Lane to have found out Clark is Superman on her own, and before the movie starts. And holy shit, they actually did it in MAWS! FUCK YES! Lois is smart and sharp, so she should pick up on the fact that Clark is Superman! I love that they did this, even if her way of finding out was somewhat by accident. She still put the clues together on her own, so I'm satisfied with this ending! And I'm pretty sure they're not going to reverse this! If they do, I'd be pissed off, but I don't think they will. Just...HELL YEAH, BABEEEEEEEEEE

OK...I think the spoiler-free have scrolled past this by know, so...let's move on with the essay, shall we?

Supporting Cast: Jimmy and the Rest

OK, let's talk Jimmy Olsen (played by Ishmael Sahid). Honestly, I love the fact that he's a conspiracy nut with his own YouTube channel, and that he's literal bunkmates with Clark in this series. This is also pretty close to my perfect version of Jimmy Olsen, not gonna lie. His streaming name is even Flamebird, a deepcut comics reference that shows the creators not only know their stuff, but also actively care about Superman comics and history. That's one of the things that one me over in the first episode, for the record. But more on that later.

Jimmy is the third wheel, but one who's usually welcome. We'll see the fallout of the Lois-Clark romance soon, I'm sure, but Jimmy's role has been pretty much perfect. However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a black Jimmy Olsen, while welcomed by me...is a little weird when you look at the legion of ginger characters in media that have been replaced by black characters in adaptations. While, again, I don't think Jimmy is racially bound to being ginger, it is a fairly iconic part of his identity. And...yeah, a lot of ginger characters have been translated into black people in recent years, and that's...really weird, not gonna lie. Makes me think even more about my Legion of Super-Heroes essay, honestly. Still, solid-ass Jimmy, and I can't wait for more.

I actually adore Perry White (voiced by Darrell Brown) in this series, and his grumpy boss persona is...well, quintessential Perry White. I'd actually say this is a perfect version of the character, although that's not as difficult to nail as some other versions. Looking forward to seeing more of Perry's life as he supports our bumbling interns.

I was tickled pink to see Cat Grant (Melanie Minichino), Steve Lombard (Vincent Tong), and a genderbent Ronnie Troupe (Kenna Ramsey) in this show, because it once again signals to me that the show creators really care about Superman mythos. And honestly, these guys were transplanted essentially unchanged from the comics, as far as we can see so far. This may change in the future, but I'm very excited to see the rivalry between our three and these reports build and develop during the series. Great job with these guys.

The Kents only make an appearance in one episode thus far, but I think they're pretty good! We see them in the past and in the present, and they're a couple of farmers who love their son. They're also some of the youngest versions of the characters we've seen in adaptations, save for Smallville, and it works well! They also make it apparent that these are Clark's parents, even in the short time we see them. Again, good job so far, and I want to see more!

So, with all of that, I adore this series, and it's perfect! Right? Right?

The Villains: Literal and Figurative Cons

If you've heard anything about this series from Superman fans, then you've probably heard that the villains are...not amazing so far. And that's mostly because the villains are where this series takes the most liberties, while also downsizing most of them pretty severely. I'll go through them briefly here, but just know that the changes made so far are...not my favorite. And if you've read my essays, you know my opinion on villains in superhero media: you gotta nail them.

So, let's start with Livewire, AKA Leslie Willis (voiced by Zehra Fazal). I really love this character (and actually positioned her as a major villain in the second Superman movie of my cinematic universe), so I'm quite invested in Livewire. And this version is a tech-powered villain who kicks off the conflict for the first part of the series. She's a completely different version of the character...and she works? Kinda? Look, as the first villain to face Superman, she's fine, but she's barely Livewire. The end of the second episode hints that she may become more like the original down the line, but she's missing that sass of the original. And yeah, she works without that, but it doesn't feel like Livewire to me. That's nitpicking, though, because we have a much worse set of adaptations to cover.

Intergang is so much of a non-entity in this show, they have no GIFS on Tumblr. Understand, this community has made GIFs of every other character except these guys. In total, they are Silver Banshee AKA Siobhan MacDougal (played by Catherine Taber), Mist AKA Kyle Nimbus (played by Lucas Grabeel), and Rough House AKA Albert (played by Vincent Tong). And they've been changed from:

A cursed Scottish-Irish woman, empowered by magic and a major threat to the Man of Steel, having nearly killed him multiple times...and is currently dating Jimmy Olsen, which I kinda love?

A scientist who invented a process to turn himself into gaseous form, and used his powers to fight the hero Starman; this rivalry was passed on to the next generation, on the side of both hero and villain.

And the clone of a gangster endowed with super-strength, serving beneath Boss Moxie of Intergang, and the forces of the dark world of Apokolips above him.

...into a group of loser who got technology they couldn't handle. Yeah, it's a major downgrade, and two of those guys weren't even that notable in the first place. Siobhan gets completely fucking shafted here, and I think it's a genuine failure of this series. Harsh, I know, but seeing Silver Banshee get fucked over that hard really sucked for me.

Oh, and yeah, Intergang was a major villainous group for the Superman film in my cinematic universe, so removing their Apokoliptian ties...bums me the fuck out, too. Also, it looks like Flash villain Heat Wave is an upcoming member, which is...weird as fuck, honestly. We'll see how this pans out, but I'm not terribly enthusiastic about it.

And then there's Anthony Ivo (played by Jake Green), who's been repurposed into a tech bro entrepeneur in the vein of Elon Musk, in charge of AmazoTech, which is obviously a reference to the comic book version. And this was an...interesting set of choices, honestly. Some spoilers here, but Ivo's version of AMAZO is an armor that drains the power of Superman and redirects it against him. And yes, that makes Ivo also this universe's version of...Parasite. ANOTHER villain that I put in the second movie of my cinematic universe, and one of my absolute favorite Superman villains.

I don't hate the reinvention, but that's only because of what happens to Ivo at the end of the episode. I won't spoil it here, but he definitely turns into a more proper version of the character, so we'll see what happens there. As for his assistant, Alex (played by...somebody), well, he's interesting, isn't he? At first, I thought he was Alex Allston, one of the Parasite twins from the 2000s. But a number of people seem to think he might be another familiar red-headed Superman villain named Alexander, if you know what I mean. Let's just say, there's a possibility that he'll steal forty cakes at some point. And that's terrible.

And finally, there's...wait, is that Deathstroke AKA Slade WIlson (played by Chris Parnell)? Why is he young...and hot? Why is Slade young and hot? And two-eyed? I mean, yeah, sure, that's not the worst thing in the world, but...goddamn, that's some whiplash. Interestingly, he appears to be affiliated with Task Force X, which is name dropped in episode 2. Plus, Amanda Waller is clearly in the background, so a much wider plan is in play. And yeah, while it's weird to see young hot Deathstroke, I'll give it a chance.

Other villains have been hinted at, and allegedly radically reinvented, such as Mr. Mxyzptlk and Brainiac, but we've yet to see what will become of them. Still, this is a divisive start. As long as we get some actual supernatural threats, and not just people in armor, I'll be happy. Time will tell.

Story: Just Getting Started

At this point, it's pretty much impossible to judge the story of this series, since we've only just started. But, with the technology obtained by Livewire from a mysterious source, and then leaked into the criminal underworld, we at least have enough threats to supply tension throughout this first portion of the series. The relationship of our trio is progressing nicely, with Jimmy realizing his third-wheel status, and with the Lois and Clark relationship moving along interestingly and unexpectedly.

There's also a number of hanging plots that look promising, including Clark discovering his powers and origins; Task Force X and Deathstroke, as well as their interest in Superman; the missing Parasite technology after Ivo's fall; the rivalry between the interns and their reporter rivals; and even Lois' relationship with her father (who...might be the guy standing next to Waller in Task Force X? No clue, that's just a guess). So, we have some stuff to look forward to! And maybe, just maybe, the villains will also steadily improve. I think Silver Banshee's a lost cause at this point, but I have hope for Livewire and Parasite, at least. But again, time will tell.

I also can't wait to see what the creators have up their sleeves. They're obviously ans of Superman and his mythos. I didn't even mention what won me over on this show in the first place! Other than Clark and Lois themselves, of course. In the first episode, Lois introduces Jimmy and Clark to her information gatherers: the Newskid Legion. And for those of you who don't know, that's a reference to the Golden Age of Comics, and a group of street-wise kids that would become supporting characters of Superman's during the '90s (through the trendy magic of cloning)! The kids have an adaptation in this series, and that attention to lore alone made me an instant fan of this show. Sounds like nothing, I know, but it meant a hell of a lot to a Superfan like me. Now GIVE ME MY EVERYMAN BIBBO BIBBOWSKI!

Conclusion: A Hopeful Tomorrow

I'm...scared about Gunn's Superman film. I won't write a whole essay about it, but it sounds ambitious to the point of being bloated. A lot of recent casting news makes me feel like this is more of a set-up to the wider DCU, as less of a Superman film in and of itself. Plus, with rumors that Luthor is being cast, and no sign of a villain announcement yet...I dunno. It has me worried. So thank God for My Adventures with Superman.

This series is a blessing so far. Sure, it could blow for the rest of the season, but call me hopeful. I think this show is fantastic so far, and I'm really thinking it'll stick the landing with the first season. Alongside that, honestly, is the fact that it's trying something new for any Superman adaptation, and there's a bravery in that. I don't know if it'll go down as my preferred Superman adaptation (Superman: The Animated Series is a hard one to beat for me), but it's got a good start. And a brave series that inspires hope in the face of fear and impossible odds? Man, that's what Superman is all about.

GOOD GIRL TRANCE

[This trance will use terminology around being a "girl". If you are not comfortable with being called that, this trance is not for you. I really don't mean "girl" as an insult to anyone. I love all of you for who you are and don't mean to offend. I'm a (mostly) hetero male and I find being called a "girl" a bit thrilling. I understand it's not for everyone though.]

Anyone who reads my stuff knows I have a fetish for several things ... mental collars, real collars, Cherry Crush, fem doms, chastity, praise, helping people believe in themselves, and ... the GOOD GIRL trigger.

I've put GOOD GIRL in so many people and in so many ways and I never get bored with it.

I. Fucking. Love. It.

And this here isn't really a trance but more of an explanation of why I am so into it.

Ok, yeah, it actually is meant to be a bit trance-y and make you feel like a GOOD GIRL. But really ... like with all trances ... that's up to you and whether or not you want to feel it.

It's kind of slow moving to start and I'm too lazy to tighten it up. But I think it does a great job of explaining my love of GOOD GIRL and why I think it's so effective.

The reason I'm writing this is because someone told me today that GOOD GIRL is over-played and over-used. I scoff at that idea. It's ridiculous.

GOOD GIRL cannot be said enough. You are all good girls and should feel like good girls feel. And yeah ... I'm even talking to you super-hetero guys and, yes, to all my handsome ftm's out there who think being called a girl is an insult.

It is most certainly not. Not from me.

So pardon my ramble here but ...

There is a LOT to like about the GOOD GIRL trigger.

The desire to be called good is already embedded deeply inside most of us. Inside me, inside you. So it's easy to take that desire and simply ... augment it ... just a bit.

Just a tiny adjustment to that desire already deep down inside you.

And that's what you're going to do here. Now.

You're going to tweak those desires. And it's so simple to do.

You already have all the necessary pieces deep inside you. And my words, as you focus on them and follow them, are going to simply highlight and, yes, augment, those pieces, those desires. Those desires deep down inside you.

When you think about it, if you think at all, about it, it's very natural to want praise, isn't it?

You want praise, right? And to be told that you've done good? That you are good?

It's basic to your nature and embedded deep down in your core. Deep inside, where you can't explain it, can't understand it, deep down in your subconscious, where desires grow and live.

And it's ok that you don't understand it.

It's ok that you can't explain it.

You don't need to think about it. You don't need to think about anything at all right now.

All you need to do is accept it.

Accept it and embrace it.

You need praise. You want praise.

And that's natural.

So if you were called good, or specifically a good girl, even if you are not actually a girl, you get that praise that you need and you want to hear.

And whether you respond quietly and demurely, with a silent feeling of pride that "yes, ok, I *am* good" and "yes, ok, I *am* a good girl" and "yes, I have earned this praise" ... or ...

You feel a kind of ... slight sexual thrill ... an arousal ... an excitement of sorts ... even if it's only in passing ...

Well now ... it's just a matter of degrees, isn't it?

The phrase and the response already live inside you.

It's ALREADY acting as a trigger of sorts and it brings out this natural response.

So it's really a simple matter to adjust ... to augment ... that thing that already exists. We're not making you feel a certain way. We're adjusting the way you already feel when you hear those words.

That praise confirming you are a good girl.

The simple act of someone calling you a good girl ... that act ... those words ... they give you a bump ... a rush ... a positive feeling ... a small thrill ... knowing that you've done something that pleases someone.

You've been found worthy. You *are* worthy.

You are a good girl.

Naturally, you take pride in this. That's normal. That's human nature.

When someone gives that praise, that acknowledgment, you might feel a tiny bust that elevates you. Raises your spirits. Lifts you up.

After all, you've been given that praise. You've been found worthy. You are now more than you were.

You rise to new heights feeling this uplift.

And, of course, by extension, for you to rise up, to be lifted up, well, naturally that means that you are, and must be, beneath the person who lifted you up. The person lifting you up with the praise is above you, lifting you.

The rush of the uplift is because it comes from someone above you. So, naturally, you must be below them, less than them, beneath them, for them to lift you up.

And that's the beauty of the phrase, good girl.

In fact, every time you hear that phrase, you find in a real way, you begin to sink lower and deeper than you were before. After all ... when you accept this praise ... and allow it to lift you up ... you admit that you are lower than, less than, the person giving the praise. You accept that deep down the moment you allow the praise to lift you.

And when you accept this praise and rise up, you give the other person a position above you, with you below them. You give them power. And you sink lower and deeper each time you allow the praise to have such an affect.

Each time you accept this phrase, good girl, you silently and implicitly admit to their power over you and you give them more power.

And as you do this, as you take their praise, feel their praise affect you, you sink lower and lower and acknowledge your role. Your place below them. This amplifies ... augments ... your desire to be called a good girl and the feelings of being called a good girl.

The more you are called a good girl, the better you feel. The more aroused you feel as you know that it implicitly makes you more submissive to let someone have such an impact on you. And this arousal grows each and every time you are called a good girl and are reminded of your role and your place beneath them.

Yes, you feel pride, and yes, you feel excitement, and yes, you feel a kind of ... sexual charge that comes with this growing sense of submission.

And you might find, and yes, you should find, that as you let the words, good girl, wash over you more and more, as you begin to feel them sink in more and more, as you accept the implications more and more, you feel your desire growing.

You feel the rush and excitement growing. You feel your submission growing. And you feel the hunger to be called a good girl growing more and more. You want to accept the praise. And you feel good when you accept the praise. And your mind accepts that it helps you sink the more you accept it.

So, you find that as you sink further, and submit more, and give in to that hunger, the desire grows deeper and stronger, and you feel a longing grow to be called a good girl. And this excites you as you understand that it means you choose, at some level, to accept your submission and you wish to sink deeper and lower and give over power to the person who calls you good girl.

And the more you sink, the deeper you go, the deeper you go, the more you want to be called good girl, the more you are called good girl, the deeper you sink, and the deeper you go, and the more you want to give in to the pleasure, the arousal, of submission, and being called a good girl.

And that's ok because you are such a good girl.

As a good girl, you long to be called a good girl and feel yourself sink further, and sink deeper into submission and arousal, and feel the pleasure of submission, and of being called a good girl.

It's only natural, and your desire is deep, and your arousal is strong, and you grow desperate to submit and to hear those words that give you pleasure and make you feel like a good girl.

The deeper you go, the more you submit, the more aroused you become, the more you want to submit, the deeper you want to go, and the faster you want to give in and to fall into the pleasure and arousal of being called a good girl.

The more you hear it, the further you fall, the deeper you go, the more your arousals builds, grows and grows, bubbles over, and makes you feel so good and so horny and so desperate to be called a good girl.

The deeper you submit, the stronger the words become, the weaker you feel, the more your longing grows, the stronger your desire, the more your sexual arousal grows and intensifies, as you wait and hunger to hear the words good girl.

Such a good girl.

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 18 & 19 Reactions and Thoughts

Overall reaction:

First up, I didn't write anything for episode 18 last week because when I sat down to do it, all I could think to talk about was Renji's bankai reveal, which was epic, but didn't have much more to say beyond that. I loved the whole thing though, they made Renji look like such a badass throughout. And the reveal itself was *chef's kiss*

As for this week...WOW. JUST WOW. INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, WOW. There's one main highlight and you all know what it is. Just...look at her:

This is one of the most stunning things I've ever seen coming out of this show, that includes the original series. Hell, this is one of the most stunning bits of animation I've ever seen. How did they make her bankai more pretty and elegant than it already was in the manga?! I just love that her collar and sleeves are transparent, and the little details like the snowflake pattern that constantly moves over her clothes.

The visuals for this episode were so amazing, and as you can tell, I can't reblogging gifs of it. I loved every second from a visual standpoint, everything was beautifully drawn and coloured, whether it was make Rukia look fierce or terrified or beautiful, or to make As Nodt more creepy and hellish than he already is. I mean, just look at this creep:

I loved this design in the manga, and I am LOVING it here now! Paired with church bells and music, this was a fantastic reveal.

As this adaption continues to show, when it comes to the fights of this arc, it's 10/10. Whether it's added content, hearing these characters say the lines, or just finally seeing these panels animated, it's reminding me of why I was so desperate to see this arc adapted into an anime. The moment I saw As Nodt's hand graze Rukia's, and she flinches and tries to find him, I got hyped. The moment he transformed into his Vollstandig, I was screaming. And then Rukia unleashes her bankai, and I was rolling in my chair. If As Nodt vs Rukia doesn't go down as one of the best anime fights from this year, I'll be shocked.

For one, while it goes without saying at this point, I cannot emphasis enough how GOOD the animation is:

I also loved the call back to decaying characters and the flies and how they were used for Rukia's greatest fear. It's a connection to Byakuya, an experience they can say they've both shared now, and it adds to the scenes that come next when he tells her he's proud of her and he helps her defrost.

Speaking of that scene, it was already a great moment in the manga, but see it not only animated but voiced, I teared up a little. I looked forward to seeing the dub version of the scene too, I have no doubt Michelle Ruff and Dan Woren will do great here. It's a small, emotional moment for the two them, and it's more or less a conclusion their brother-sister arc. We've come a long way since the beginning, huh?

While we're on voice acting, can we give As Nodt actor absolute praise. He made him so gosh dark creepy throughout. This is the kind of voice I would hear while reading the manga, and the way he was able to morph his voice from quiet monotony to raging growls was just amazing. He was a standout in the episode for me honestly.

If I had two nit-picks about the animation, one is that As Nodt's eyeball monsters looked a little weird and out of place, but it's so small it didn't take away from the fight for me. The other is the weird video filter they used over Rukia's flashbacks; not sure why they used that filter? Is it trying to say the original show is that old now? Were they trying to be creative? Regardless, it jarred me a little, but again, it's a nit pick in what is otherwise a fantastic episode.

Overall, it was an amazing episode that will likely be in my top fifteen of the arc of the show. Next week, I'm preparing for two shikai reveals and maybe a few tears ;_;

Watched the second ep. I don't have pics this time but I'm gonna do my best to make a good post anyway. RWBY volume 9 spoilers and criticism below the keep reading. Also this is a long one!

Praise

The use of 'business person.' About ten years of gender-specific stuff like 'Huntsman Academies' instead of 'Hunter Academies' aside, it's nice to hear some gender neutral terms.

On its own, removed from the comedy and bad tone of the volume and the moment two seconds before it, I really enjoyed Weiss reflecting on the weight of what happened, the loss of her home, the fact that their plan could've been (and kind of was) a disaster that put people at risk, the possibility of losing the Relics, acting like they made mistakes... I also really like Ruby's response to it, her "you did the best you could to save Atlas" was said in this weak kind of stiff way like Ruby knows that's a meaningless comfort that doesn't help. And then when Weiss talks about Penny, Ruby just turns away and keeps walking? That's good. This on its own felt like a really good moment.

Also, I like the choice of framing in the conversation, specifically Weiss gripping her sword. Yesss those trauma responses motherfucker, yeeeeah! That's what we wanna see!

I really love the concept of the weather in wonderland clearly connecting to emotions (and so far, more Ruby's emotions than anything else.) I kind of even like how it changes on a dime.

The soldier waving to the little kid? Kind of cute!

Ruby's "Look, we may not know exactly what's going on. But for whatever reason, this place is putting us on a similar path as a book we all read as kids. I say we follow it... And stop pretending we know what we're doing." First off, this is what I mean when I say the voice acting for Ruby has much improved. The delivery is great, the emotions are great, the twinge of bitterness despite her seeming to be trying at the start to give one of her usual speechesTM leading to her ending with her dark statement of them not knowing what they're doing, it's great. Second off, she's her uncle's niece, that's for sure, I love this new angle for her actually. Third off, please please please don't have this written off by the end of the season with an "actually there's nothing we could've done differently, nothing that needs to change, Ruby is back to normal." I have a lot of complaints about this episode already typed up (because I'm writing both criticism and praise as I watch) but this is a good direction for Ruby and I'm liking this growth for her actually surprisingly a lot. Everything else, I do not like, but Ruby is so far my absolute favorite part of this season, which is as it should be. And I want these changes to mean something in the long run even if she - as she should - regains some confidence and optimism near the end. I want her to come out of this more cautious, more mature, a bit more cynical, a bit open to council and other solutions and working on her own shortcomings and accepting some nuance. This is good groundwork, I'm really hoping the writers can take this thing the whole way through.

Guys, I feel kind of bad, I really expected to have more praise... But by and large... I didn't like this episode. Let's talk about why.

Criticism

First off, gonna say right away. Yang being like "are we just gonna sit here thinking about that in silence, or...?" What a weird way to start an episode. That's a 'back from a commercial break' line you'd find in Phineas and Ferb.

The way that the 'anime-animation' has gone up by a hundred in this volume is bad, the show has been written so that it's mostly normal with maybe two or three anime-animation gags a season for ages, and they always feel out of place because of how little they're used, and now they kicked it up to eleven jam-packing as many into their show as possible, and it's annoying! The "reason" may be because the writers wanted this volume to feel different than RWBY. If that's the case then congrats the show RWBY doesn't feel like RWBY at all even in vibes right now.

Weiss: "And Yang got her arm stolen by a- by a- what was it, that you said?" Boy howdy. Let's just gloss over Yang actually telling them what happened, so we can by pass their reactions and act like it's all just old hat and stupid and tiring. It's not like the audience needs to be engaged. It's not like this is meant to be the first time the audience is hearing about this.

Weiss (paraphrased): "Just because this place is weird doesn't mean we're actually inside a fairy tale." Me: "Good, someone is going to point out that the sentencing is really weird considering that it doesn't make sense for them to think they just blue-skadoo'd into the pages of a fairy tale and they're going to take this moment - the most logical moment - to talk about how it's more likely that this world must've been traversed by someone who returned to Remnant and based a fairy tale they've read off of it (which is VERY Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Josh Hutcherson and Brendan Fraser by the way) and therefore whether this is an after-life or another dimension or something else that they logically ought to consider, they can get back." Yang: "Also this thing that may be reflective of something that might have happened in a fairy tale happened to me." Weiss: "Actually yes we're probably 'in a fairy tale.'"

Ruby, the girl who explicitly loved FAIRY TALES SPECIFICALLY: "Some of this is sort of familiar." Blake, the girl who may like fairy tales alongside the other books she reads (once joked at majority being trashy romance novels in the show, and repeatedly in Chibi): "I recognize this at once!" Weiss, the girl who grew up in a strict home where she's never once mentioned ever liking even any form of entertainment as far as I can remember: "That's just something we all read as kids." Gee whiz, I wish this was actually... Something better. XD

"Alyx" fought a "Jabberwalker" and beat the "Red King" and met the "Curious Cat." Listen, this is all... Very boring. I know I haven't actually encountered some of these things yet, but despite feeling like them doing things like making Pinnochio become a real person was lazy, RWBY has never been this lazy before. At least when they literally uncreatively named a character Sun Wukong, he wasn't just an immortal godlike character you meet in a rushed journey to the west pocket of an adventure where everything is Journey to the West themed and the characters in RWBY were like "this is the world of Travel to the Western Location, it's a book that exists that we're going to have to go through." Not only am I bored, I'm very annoyed.

Little: "I'll lead the way! Right to-" *Cuts to Little sleeping* Immediately, I'm done as hecking heck with the pointlessness of this mouse so far. "They might have a point later" Well until then, they're annoying, and they could have a point right the frick now by acting as a guide, but instead all they're doing and seemingly their only purpose as of yet is as bad comedy in a season so far filled with more than enough bad comedy.

Blake: "Alyx didn't know the customs and ended up starting a war." Yang: "Well, she was kind of a bad person, right? She lied and cheated her way through most of the book." Weiss: "She was trying to survive. The morals of those old stories are so simplistic." Weiss...... Do you remember how you all fucking hated Ozpin for three seasons because he lied and were fine with him getting punched over it? Do you remember how you guys decided that 'saving what we can in a trolley problem' made someone evil? Do you remember when you pointed what was essentially a loaded gun at your underage civilian brother because he was in the way? Do you remember how you acted like Yang had slapped Ruby because she suggested that Ruby might have been wrong about something? Do you remember when Blake accused May of acting like Ironwood when she told you guys that you had to choose to do something to help people instead of sitting around and doing nothing and you were just like "yuh-huh." And that's not even getting into how this show has treated so much as cut-and-dry either you're good or you're evil for the past three seasons in the narrative, leaving no room for nuance in the conversation. Hopefully this season will address some of that, but it still leaves Weiss looking like a massive hypocrite for this line.

When Yang says what happened with the racoon, the animation used to tell that story is not it for me champs. Idk who decided that. Why couldn't they just mimic the art style of Yang's story about looking for Raven when she was a kid and Qrow helping her? What, is the 'tone' of that style of art too serious for their comedic stuff they've got going on?

Yang and Blake: *Almost touch hands.* Weiss: "About time." ABOUT TIME FOR WHAT, WEISS? THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING! They've literally held hands at least twice now

And that Blake has also done with Ruby and Weiss

Yes, this time Yang and Blake are doing it with Energy that was non-existent for Blake and Ruby and Blake and Weiss, but they've been doing everything with ENERGY since volume six. This is nothing new, this is just another way of the show writers and Rooster Teeth going "see? See? They're actually something (probably) so just wait teehee" but first off, I don't like it and I wish they'd just progress Blake and Yang's relationship because they haven't done anything now that's different from the cake picture or the practicing their dancing. But second off, boy does Weiss look an oblivious chump. "About time." Where have you been???

And also, at the writers, just because you act like it's new and significant doesn't mean it is. What is this hesitation for?

Also! Weiss and Ruby: *Stop walking, start having a serious conversation.* Yang and Blake:

Bro, when I'm walking with my sister and she stops, I??? Stop walking??? So we can walk together??? When my sister stops walking to have a sad serious conversation about being sad and serious, I just??? Stop to talk to her?? It kind of makes Blake and Yang feel like they're so caught up in each other that they're just ignoring not only the dire situation they're in and the dire situation Remnant is in, but also the feelings and suffering of Ruby and Weiss. And it's just... Not what I want to see tbh? Like I want to see them acting like they care enough to at least notice what the other two are going through.

The amount of screentime that's already been spent on Little being just so silly and quirky is really wrecking my enjoyment. I wish they had left Little behind when they left the mice army. Actually, I wish Little (and also the mice army) had never existed at all.

"So which one is Yang's arm?" I feel like this is from a little kids show for five year olds. "Okay kids, the mean racoon has disguised what he stole as something else. Is it the green doll, the pink rabbit, or the yellow-and-black staff that looks kind of like Yang's arm that's made of metal? Do you guys remember what color Yang's arm is?" *Kids voice* "Yellow!" Hand of the Creator making Team RWBY look like idiots here tbh. Cringe. At least Yang went on to assume it's her arm - because that's what her heart told her - but yikes was that dumb.

Also though the racoon is massively bad and bigoted. Everything about this racoon is a negative stereotype associated with the Romani people and it's coming out in 2023, this is a really bad look especially from Bigoted "NO WE SWEAR WE'VE CHANGED" Bad Business Practices Inc.

The sword thing doesn't make sense to me tbh. Other people who say things better than me have talked about the lack of logic regarding the sword being here in the first place, but what I'm gonna talk about is the lack of emotions tied up in this item. By talking about Doctor Who. So, the writers of Doctor Who wanted the Eleventh Doctor to have something to remember his companion Amy Pond by after she left after a whopping two and a half seasons (more than achieved by even Rose Tyler in modern Who) for his remaining half a season left on the show, as an emotional gut-punch for the many fans who loved Amy and the other companion Rory who left at the same time. So they had the Eleventh Doctor wear Amy's glasses.

The problem with this is... Amy only ever wore glasses in her very last episode, so... There was no real emotional significance in them. They weren't iconic to Amy, they weren't something the viewer knew well, they were something transparently invented for an emotional moment that was completely unearned. This is a bit more than what happened with Penny's sword which I think probably were just invented to give Penny something to fight with now that she was no longer a robot. But it's still the case that I feel zero emotional connection to this thing I've seen in the last like two episodes of volume eight that only appeared right before Penny's death. It isn't like this moment

Especially now that Penny's been in five seasons with her regular weapons tied to her robotic body. That's what we're used to. This is one (of many) reasons why they should have left Penny as a robot. This is already a do-over - Penny died in a terrible fall of a kingdom more or less at the hands of Cinder and Ruby is left with her sword. It's almost like they realized that Penny's death mattered to the viewers and yet nothing significant was ever really done with Penny's death, Penny's sword, or Ruby's reactions and so they copy-pasted the events, tweaked 'em for the story they were in the middle of already, and then were like "OKAY TAKE TWO." But because of them changing Penny's robotic body out for a flesh one and therefore tossing aside the iconic design of her weapon we all know and love, I'm sitting here going "Oh look, green glass that the writers want me to associate with Penny."

Although I do think that the voice actress for Ruby has improved this season, someone please tell them that their whimpering doesn't sound good or convincing.

Also that whole 'get our stuff' section lasted about five minutes. "We're gonna have to get our stuff back." "Oh no we don't know what our stuff is?" "Let's use our feelings to figure out what our stuff is." "Omg, we can't pay the cost of that." "The stuff is revealed as our stuff." "We're gonna have to fight for it!" "I'm so sad about Penny!" "Okay we got our stuff, let's get out of here!" I've said before that RWBY struggles to let people sit with the weight of any emotions which makes things seem really shallow, but this is ridiculous. I feel nothing about Yang not being willing to give up what it feels like to be loved as the price of her arm, because... If I had been grabbing my Red Bull for the two seconds that had happened, I would've missed that, nobody reacted to it, and it was just gone. All of that legit could've been a whole upset with emotional beats where the girls grapple with concepts of having to give up things or not having enough hope to fill up a jar, but instead it's five minutes of rushed comedy-centric nothing that started and then just kind of stopped while I'm just like feeling nothing.

Blake's "I've read so many stories, I... Never thought I'd be the moral of one" Is clearly played straight? As in, it's clearly played as serious and not just for laughs, as 'emotional' music starts playing. But what part of the last scene outside of Ruby's whimper and holding the sword was I meant to take seriously? The whole thing was played up for comedy and Blake didn't seem to be taking it that seriously either - and five minutes prior had been joking and teasing and laughing with Yang in the most carefree manner. I'm sorry if I can't take her crisis seriously now, but I really can't. I actually got confused because I was like 'ah somebody messed up and started playing serious music? Oh wait no, it's gonna cut out for a joke. No? They're being serious?" Bleh

Weiss: "We are not IN A BOOK." Me: "Good, someone is going to point out that it doesn't make sense for them to think they just blue-skadoo'd into the pages of a fairy tale and they're going to take this moment - the most logical moment - to talk about how the author or Alyx or whoever probably just wrote about someone having an adventure in this place that could be an afterlife or another dimension or something else that they logically ought to consider, and their own adventure shouldn't be the same as there's because this is a different time and it's not the foregone conclusion to think the exact same things that happened to her would happen to them (some of this is reminiscent of Tim Buton's Alice in Wonderland btw) but that they can try to get out the same way she did." Weiss: "And even if we were, we know how it ends!" I guess at least they're doing the last part??

Weiss: *Hits herself with a rock so hard that she falls to the ground and doesn't get up for at least two seconds.* The other members of Team RWBY:

Can this show try to convince me these characters care about each other outside of Big MomentsTM, at least a little? Nobody tries to help calm Weiss down? Nobody asks her if she's okay? Nobody tries to help her up? Nobody even reacts? Ruby doesn't even look up? "It's a comedic moment!" Well, first off, not three seconds before it happened or two seconds after it happened, it isn't. And second off, so? Even in a comedic moment, it'd make sense to have someone say "are you okay?"

Also the toy looking guards remind me of Orbot and Cubot from Sonic the Hedgehog... That's not a compliment, they're super annoying.

Okay... Ruby's speech about Penny is not nearly as emotional as everyone made it out to be. I've seen so many people be like "This episode had me crying so hard over Ruby's eulogy to Penny" And then I get to the ep, and she says kind of really impersonal stuff? I mean, maybe it would've seemed shallow if after Ruby's lack of happiness at Penny's actual resurrection she acted like she and Penny had been best friends, but still. "The most powerful warrior to ever live." Okay, I'll believe that Ruby believes that. "She was touched by magic." And so are at least five other characters Ruby knows including herself. "She gave her life for thousands." Sure, okay, but that's still not personal. "She took a message of hope to the stars." Well, that message may have caused mass hysteria that could theoretically bring down every civilization in Remnant, but yep, Ruby sure thought that was an important act that should be done. "And she saw the world through better eyes." See, this is the only one that seems kind of emotional or something specifically connected to Penny, but it still sounds like something people would say about a long dead astronaut they never knew at some kind of gala. Look, I'm ribbing on this, but I actually think this makes sense - Ruby is pushing down her emotions, and she didn't have the connection with Penny she used to after her first death based on her reactions to Penny being alive (it's more like she really wanted to have the connection she used to,) and she's suffering with the concept that all she (and tbh Penny) had done in the most recent fall could've meant a lot of bad despite her (and Penny's) best intentions. It makes sense that her speech given while in the middle of squashing down her feelings is stiff and not very personal, but it's just really not what I imagined. And with RWBY's history, I'm not sure this is meant to be played as Ruby being stiff and impersonal, it might very well be meant to be a deeply emotional tribute to a beloved character that's meant to trigger waterworks in fans everywhere. And if so, it's just wildly disappointing tbh.

Also, the tone between comedy and serious was horribly done yet again, and also still not combat.

FFXIV Write Day 1 - Envoy

(AU: Canon divergence)

I come as the envoy of the Crystal Exarch, who wishes to exchange in martial knowledge between the Crystarium and Eulmore.

Well, of course saying something like that wouldn't work on Ran'jit. Neither the general nor Vauthry gave much mind to the Exarch's warrior, brushing her off to be assigned with Eulmore's city guards. The Exarch had told her that she should just go along with their bidding--he likely has predicted Eulmore's disinterested response--so she does. Makes a trip down the city's enormous staircase towards the guards' base at the Understory.

Lack of interest is good. Means it'll be that much easier to snoop around and gather information. Shame that she has to waste time keeping up the facade, too, but... nothing to be done for that. Keeping out of the general's eagle eyes is important, after all--

"Aha! So you've arrived, soldier of the Crystarium!" She's only cracked the office door open when the voice calls out. A young miqo'te man sits on the largest desk in the room. He pushes himself off with a huff, looking pleased with himself. "Welcome to the headquarters of the greatest military force in Norvrandt! We're glad to have you here," the man exclaims. He approaches her with a grin, and extends a hand.

She looks around the room. Empty save for the two of them. The young man is of stocky build, but has a boyish cut to his dusty blue hair. He stands about half a head shorter than her. "Is this... the Captain's office?"

"Er, yes? I just told you that." The young man's smile wavers as she sizes him up, then quickly adds, "Oh, no, I'm not the captain of the guards, if you're wondering. That would be my father. But I am his second-in-command, and thus, your partner for the rest of your time here!" He offers another handshake. "I'm the first squad leader, Lue-Reeq."

She takes it. "Ash-Tart," she tells him, because it's the mystel-like name the Exarch told her to use during her time there, "but just Tart is fine."

"Oh? Then you can call me Reeq too!" he says, excited. "Though maybe that wouldn't be necessary since I'm your superior... no, no, we're partners. It's better to be familiar," he muses to himself. Then to her, "Pleased to make your acquiantance, Tart."

She smiles at his exuberance. "Looking forward to working with you. So. What's it you guys... do?"

Reeq grimaces. "Currently? Not... much. Not that that's a bad thing, of course! Ever since Lord Vauthry rose to his rule, the sin eaters around the city has fallen under his absolute control. Eulmore has become the perfect city of peace. It's a great thing, really! His Grace does an amazing job of keeping this city peaceful."

The city of peace. That was what Vauthry said in their meeting, too, she recalls. Despite formerly being Norvrandt's greatest military force, Eulmore is now defined by its peace. Ran'jit, the relic of its martial past, said nothing to contradict his liege either.

That peace is certainly evident. Lue-Reeq explains the duties of the city guards and shows her around to their stations around the Canopy and Gatetown. They clearly don't have much to do. The officers are doing the bare minimum of their job, and most points in Gatetown are unmanned, and the majority of Eulmore's military force seems to have disappeared altogether.

Don't like it, she thinks. It feels wrong. Like when Ishgard play-acted at achieving "peace". As a part of the Vigils, peace just isn't where Tart belongs.

And it seems that the same applies to Reeq. He covers it up with excitement and praise for Vauthry, but his words ring false. He's the only one showing interest at the arrival of the Crystarium's envoy. There must be something more to this man.

Her suspicions are confirmed at the end of the day. When they return to the Understory, Reeq announces that their work is finished.

"Already? It's only one bell past noon." Good thing, though. She can start the recon early. "Then, thanks for your hard work today. See you--"

"Wait, you're really leaving first before your superior? We're not quite done yet, you know!"

Highbloods everywhere are the same, she sighs. "Sorry, Ser. What do you have in mind?"

Reeq motions her to take a seat at the side of the main desk. He goes over to the other side and settles comfortably on the seat next to the Captain's. "So, since I've fulfilled Eulmore's side of the deal for today, isn't it time for the Crystarium to do the same?" He tries to be professional, but a devilish grin can't help but sneak onto his lips. "I hear the Crystarium still does regular sorties to cull sin eaters around Lakeland, is that correct? Can I ask where you were stationed before? Have you killed eaters yourself?"

Tart nods. "Was at Ostall Imperative for a while," it's not a lie, really, "and yes. I have killed a few."

"Oh come on, no need to be modest, I want to hear all the details!" Reeq reaches into a drawer and pulls out a journal. "I have a few questions to ask, if you don't mind. But you must spare no details! This is the point of our arrangement, yes? So please, talk my ears off!"

a while ago i watched someone react to 1.03 and were praising izzy for being an ally and like i love izzy but almost every time she brought up alec’s sexuality it made me super uncomfortable bc who would really want to be constantly in fear that your sibling is going to out you in a very homophobic society while trying to be supportive? and like there’s no way that izzy doesn’t know that the clave is homophobic and she still brings up it up all the time, it just seems weird that she can understand that the clave is racist but can’t comprehend that it is also homophobic, and she never really dropped the topic despite alec being uncomfortable with it

The question arises... was Alec uncomfortable, or were pretty much all the queer viewers uncomfortable?

There's a thing with most media, but TV shows & movies especially, which have so many people involved in making them, and so many constraints behind the scenes that we the viewers may or may not know anything about, that sometimes the way a scene appears to the viewer is NOT the way it was intended/the way the characters take it.

Shadowhunters is a particularly egregious example of this, being a (relatively) cheap YA melodrama on a third-rate network whose entire production staff got swapped out between seasons 1 and 2, so 'lol what is consistency or planning?!?' is visible everywhere.

Is Izzy in-universe actually clueless/dangerous Straight People™️or were the writers/showrunners clueless Straight/White People™️who had no idea that half of their 'rule of cool' / 'quick banter' / etc. came across as micro-aggressions to the audience?

You can go either way, it's all a question of which you think is more fun/interesting/necessary for your own peace of mind/enjoyment of canon. (Fandom is supposed to be fun after all.)

A lot of people settle on 'they are that bad in canon' and write a lot of fix-it fic or 'nephilim have to deal with CONSEQUENCES!' fanworks, and those are great! A lot of other people go with "clearly everyone else in canon acts like they have positive relationships, so this is a failure of execution and I'm going to write fic/make art assuming that these people are who they SAY they are, and figure out what that looks like to me" and those are also great!

Just decide which one you're doing when you start, because combining both in one fic gets... a little weird? Hard to follow, at least. 🤣

SO: Is Alec uncomfortable? How does he deal with that, what does that say about his relationship with Izzy, with other nephilim, with the Clave & Council & Alicante? How does that contrast with how he feels interacting with the downworld, which is canonically a lot more self-aware and accepting of queer people and minorities?

If Alec isn't uncomfortable with Izzy's behavior, if no one else seems to pick up on it, why? Do we go with other people's reactions in canon and assume that she is in fact very careful with what she says where and it seems overt to us the viewers because we're allowed to see it? (Much like inter-party banter over comms in heist movies or tv shows; no one else ever hears it or sees it, so we can see and hear it for storytelling purposes, not for 'reality' purposes.)

If that's the case, what does their relationship look like to people in public? How different are public-facing Alec & Jace & Isabelle from what we the viewers see of their private relationships to each other?

Do you want to assume some mish-mash of both? It's more subtle in the setting than it seems so we can see it, and also Alec knows she means well even if we don't? OR SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY?

IDK, I have no conclusions here. I mostly assume that the show is a disaster, and these people all seem to like each other, so how can I write them that fits the results rather than all the dumb-ass details? (I like a lot of authors/artists who go the other way though.) This is encouraged by the fact that the technical/magical worldbuilding is nonsense so I'm making up shit all the time anyway, might as well add characterization to that too! 🤣🤣🤣

Unit Teambuilding - Lodge Gladion

Oh holy shit.  A dude with 100% Toxic rate, boosting defenses via trainer move, Haze, AND he gets to run Synchro Healing?  This is a Stall unit if ever I've-

"We're increasing CS parameters to 3k points per stage!  Nothing new is being added!"

...you give the boy an incredible stall alt.  And you kill him on the spot.

General Overview Yeah if it's not obvious I'm kinda pissed.  Lodge Gladion is bizarre all around.  Golbat instead of Crobat feels like "We had too many Crobats," but that's the main series' fault.  Gladion has incredible tools for stall, which is taking a massive L this update, but is frankly atrocious for offense, which is what's left.  It's incredibly depressing, because like...this could've been something.  This could've been such a good pair, and it's now just a mess.

+1 Def/Sp Def/crit on TM and X Atk All is horrendously slow for offense.  Every criticism I've levied against Lodge Blue and Lodge Giovanni applies here.  The difference is, Giovanni has some 3/5 tools to kinda compress, and Blue has a 60% flinch rate.  Gladion has...Poison Fang.  Which I guess is something, but this does put him in open competition with BP Janine.  If you need Toxic to land right away, just reset with her.  It's not like Gladion will do you any better.  His oddities directly result in him working only with the best possible pairs, acting as a means of topping off their offensive needs and, hopefully, not dying immediately.  Because fun fact, his Endurance is Safety Tether, which means unless you EX him, there is no endurance. I’ll always sing the praises of Haze, given its AoE stat resetting properties, but it’s not exactly a trait you want your support doing, since it takes away from setup.

I'm so irritated on his behalf.  People clamor for Gladion for ages, and he finally gets something that's aligned to a playstyle they're taking a bat to.  Delightful, very well done DeNA, claps all around.

EX and Move Level? Support and has Safety Tether, so it's not the worst EX investment you could make I suppose.  Move Level really is 3/5 or nothing.  Synchro Healing for stall, HE1 for status support, MPRs are hilarious 3/5 gated.

Team 1: Lodge Gladion, Emma, Colress/Kukui This is about as good as it's getting. Gladion helps Emma quite well, topping off physical attack and providing Toxic turn 1 for her Buddy move condition. In longer fights, she has Potion to heal him up as needed as well. Colress or Kukui work on spread defense debuffs, which are pretty much all Emma's ever needed anyway. I could mention Oleana, as another pair that just needs the +2 Atk, but since she already handles Toxic it makes Gladion redundant and easily swapped for someone else.

Team 2: Lodge Gladion, Janine, Wallace All my grousing aside, Stall isn't dead, it's just on the back foot again. The meta changes in place have been relatively unkind, sorting us back to a sort of 10k meta where more points went into offenses than you'd like. But Gladion has exceptional tools for the job. Guaranteed Toxic, buffs defenses on TM, First Aid 4, Safety Tether, and Synchro Healing, all on the same guy. That's some excellent Stall compression. Janine is the standard Venom Drench debuff bot, while Wallace is the highest passive Trap damage that isn't Bertha. Who, don't get me wrong, I love. But Wallace has Recuperation, so if Gladion drops you have someone else ready to take some hits.

Final Thoughts Gladion really feels like someone built for Stall, but Stall is bad now. I will give credit for Haze, which allocates 100 points to an effect that now cannot threaten you. That's great. But aside from that, Gladion places himself in an awkward position as a terrible buff bot, whose stall compression is having a lot of effects but not doing any two of them at the same time. Inflicting Toxic means not buffing means no Haze-ing. So the decision of what moves to use in a moment are a little rough. The +1 defenses instead of +2 just to facilitate some slight crit bonuses is...cute, but ultimately not functional enough in my opinion.

Even if this was their agreed upon pr strategy (which I'm 80% sure of) it's terrible. Olivia doesn't need a 'male defender' imo, but for me this is Harry siding with the oppressor very visibly. Anon 6: I mean, I wouldn’t say there’s key information in the press conference, it was awkward and Harry was out of his depth. The entire thing (conference, carpet, cinema) was just embarrassing, honestly. He didn’t come out looking good and I finally understand a lot of the criticism I’ve been seeing about him believing his own hype; Olivia didn’t come across well (the entire cast seemed to ignore her), and imho Florence’s behaviour was unprofessional as well. Oh anons - I'm really interested in how widespread this reaction is, because I don't share it at all. I'll admit I haven't watched everything, but I have watched quite a lot of the red carpet, some of the press conference, and enough of his interview with Chris Pine to be absolutely astonished about how it's been represented on-line.

It was so weird to me how selective what's been spread is. The interview with Chris Pine began with the interviewer asking a super fucked up question - and they both did a reasonably good job of moving around it and talking about society (Harry referenced bell hooks - which gives me hope that he's learning about the world).

I have no idea what any of you are talking about. What I saw all seemed completely normal to me. Harry is obviously very well trained at not saying anything - and turns to charm when he feels a little uncomfortable (like when he doesn't know where to go). But everything I saw felt very, very normal for a red carpet. There's obviously variation in how people navigate these situations, but the idea that Harry was in any way unusual, let alone doing something so abnormal that any of this sort of scandalised fan response makes sense - I just don't see it.

I have two thoughts about this. I feel like in the early days of social media there was some videos that exposed how the sausage got made (whether it was Ed Milliband ruining his poor dead father's death and his poor alive mother's life by declaring strikes wrong for 6 minutes straight, or Mila Kunis rattling off all the things someone might ask her about the movie so she can go back to talking about pies with Chris Stark). Has that knowledge disappeared? Particularly the way people were projecting onto Chris Pine seemed to miss that this sort of thing is inherently quite boring and Harry is nothing out of the ordinary.

The second is more psychological - it's interesting to me that so many people responded to this by deciding Harry must be doing something wrong. I hate it - I think the sort of policing that says 'there are very narrow rules and everyone who steps outside that must be judged' is always going to have fucked up affects. Such fierce condemnation for really benign actions does really bother me.

Here's my theory about what's going on - for what it's worth. I think a combination about existing anxiety about what was going on and the knowledge that people were making fun of Harry can be quite distressing for fans (I didn't experience that this time - but I certainly have at other occasions). One way to deal with distress is to decide that one person doing something wrong is what caused it - that sort of black and white thinking helps people avoiding sitting with their distress.

I'm sorry - I'm aware that it's rude to respond to anons with suggestions about the psychological processes and some of you have been quite open with your feelings, which makes my response worse. But I answered this way for two reasons - the first is that I had no other way of answering any of these anons. Except saying 'I don't know what you're talking about' over and over again. And the other is that people who are this harsh on other people are usually even harsher on themselves. I do think it's worth saying that there are alternatives to harsh judgement.

Grim was currently eating something in his pet pack (i would need to check what that imp snuck in there later since I've told him not to just toss trash on the ground) while I was going to speak to my vp, since I had the most current chapter of the story along with the story board for the next episode we've been working on and I had to run them by him to discuss how we needed to deal with a few things for it.

Over the months I've come to learn many paths and ways though the cerberus dorm aka dog dorm (depends on my mood on what I decide to call it). But than again it sort of obvious as to why since most of my club members were from here, which I why we did sometimes meet here rather than the classroom we normal had meetings at.

Soon I would keep walking and while inwould expected to meet him in his room, it seemed my vp had to leave it for a bit and thus I had came a upon him in the hall way which I did my best to wave at him with full arms.

The male who had been walking paused and turn towards me and begin walking till the both of us meet in the middle. "Hey pres' I'm guessing you have the next installment?" He chuckled as I nodded.

"Ehyup, honestly im super excited, I just hope the readers will enjoy it, also not to make you suffer the story bored is also done as well."

The male laughed and nodded. After all we did do this to ourselves, but hey its fun to see your hard work reach far. And

"So should we head to your room or should we had back to ramshackle to deal with?" After all this was a somewhat private thing, but than again the lounge here did have more space to spread things out and if we called the others they could act as guards and look outs to warn us if anyone was coming which we have in fact done more than once.

"I think a take over might be best since its going to be quite a bit of work and we're going to need the space since your so short." The male was laughing.

Unamused I quickly shot back at him "I can and will kick you in the shins." While I was glaring i couldn't keep the smile off my face showing I wasn't really that mad about it.

So thus me and my vp head to the lounge as I had ny hands full the male beside me sent out a mass text since by time we got there the others had started to already arrive.

I greeted them half glad that the animator also made an appearance since I wouldn't have to explaining more than once, though that means the comic would have to wait. A few extra of the guys seemed to only be waiting for me and the vp before they moved to take their spots guarding the entrances to the rooms so that way we can quickly hide or put away things should anyone need to come by.

Which honestly I was greatful though I was even more happy that after having set up and make to talk grim out of the pet pack so he can continue his nap on the couch (and clean it a bit as well) more of the look outs from the other dorms had come only popping in to great us before popping back out to join the other ones.

Honestly everyone in this group of mine were a true blessing and I can only pray that after all our hard work we all get recognized for all the work every single one of us have done to make our dreams our dreams come true.

Smiling softly I begin to go to work with everyone in hopes to get a bit further in our project.
