it was around 12:30 in the morning, on a SCHOOL night, and you're staring at the identity v log-in screen. click, click, click

your hands come to run through your hair, you're gonna pull out your hair.

all you wanted to do was admire your collection of skins you've probably paid thousands of dollars for. some pixels on a screen.

god, you need new hobbies.

you close out the identity v tab, you're reflection stares right back at you. god, youve seen better days. hundreds of better days.

the phone underneath the mass of blankets and clothes begins to violently buzz to life, the jingle you have as your ringtone playing aloud in the dimly lit room.

you let it go to voicemail.

the brightness of the screen seems to point out every little thing you hate about your face. the redness under your puffy eyes from what felt like the never-ending sobbing you've picked up recently, your hair slightly clung to your forehead.

god, you look horrible.

you kick yourself off the bed, deciding to do at least something to make yourself look better. shedding old clothes and putting on new ones: simple plaid pajama pants and a t-shirt you got from a friend. it was a stupid white elephant gift, just a navy blue shirt that said 'my favorite people call me grandpa'. you put on a jacket and some shoes and head outside. along the way, you wound up getting your wallet and keys. you just. drove.

you wound up in the parking lot of taco bell with some nacho fries, a baja blast, and a 12 count of cinnabons.

god fucking damn it. who gave you free will?

legs kicked up on the dashboard as you scrolled through your phone until you wound up on the roblox homepage. kite naiad for more of 7 seconds? no thanks, that game is a lawless land, especially when identity v goes down.

dandys world? ummm...not right now. you dont really feel like fighting six year olds over your choice of playing extractor pebbles

pressure? no.

you hover over the next game. a few of your friends on roblox were playing right now. 'ohhhh...this is the game that they were going crazy over.'

ok so after a while of playing this game in the taco bell parking lot, you have concluded that its not that bad. maybe it because you picked up how the killer's kits worked easily since they have similar ones in identity v, but all in all, it was kinda fun.

after this match (in which you fully believe that your teammates must've ate batteries as children which therefore is why this 1x1 practically chewed you up and spat you out) you tried to leave the game.

INTRO

Night Watch is undoubtedly one of the more ruthless Hunters found in the Oletus Manor. Most if not all of his matches end in the Survivors being obliterated and their bodies left with aches and scars that only time can heal.  

However, there has been someone who’s broken through the fortress he’s put up to protect himself [ somehow… ] and has helped him learn what it feels like to be loved all over again.

“Ithaqua, for the last time,” you say, trying to attract his attention. “where are we going?”

Unfortunately, your plea has fallen on deaf ears, as have the thousands of others you’ve thrown his way in the past 10 minutes. All that’s happened is your boyfriend picking you up bridal style and saying he’s taking you somewhere special. Nothing more, nothing less.

He hums before ‘answering’ your question. “I think you’ll know soon enough.” As if it’s the best response he could give you. And, in truth, maybe it is. Ithaqua has been a bit distant from you lately. Chances are that it's due to the onslaught of stress and depression the manor already provides, but your mind likes to jump to other conclusions. Conclusions of leaving you to side to try and survive these retched games.

The halls of the manor are eerily quiet and void of anyone in sight, minus the clacking of Ithquas stilts, making his presence known to whoever hears them. The only person you manage to spot is Orpheus, knee-deep in a newspaper burnt at the edges. He catches your eyes and gives you a knowing look. 

You wonder what it meant.

You groggily rub your eyes and stretch your arms into the heavens above you before looking around.  You're not sure when [ or where ] you fell asleep, but the view outside is nice at least. 

You feel your arms wrap around your waist, and, at first, you don’t recognize the hands of your lover. Nor have you noticed the checkered red and black picnic cloth you’ve been sitting on. The cake though is a delightful surprise and— where are you? 

You whip your head around and almost clang it against Ithaquas. Your eyes widen as only now does his face come into view and now you're falling into the bushes right next to you and—

“Baby, are you alright?” He says in such a sweet voice that it almost sounds out of character for him. [ cause it is, bitch. ] Although, it doesn’t take you long for you to nod your head and step out of his lap and into the scene he’s set up all by himself. 

“Wow, Ithaqua, it’s beautiful.” You say, gazing at the colors in front of you. 

“Me or the Sunset doll face?” He chuckles, making you let out a small giggle at his idiotic remark. “I thought I’d do something nice for you ‘cause, I know, it’s your birthday and all.”  

You kiss his cheek. “It’s lovely. Now, how about we celebrate a little, huh?” You say, draping your arms around his neck before he picks you up and spins you around. 

“Happy birthday, idiot.” 

a/n: SO out of character because god knows this is the first [ and probably last ] time I’m ever writing for him,,,,but I’d do it again for you Riel. Happy birthday 🎂.

i keep seeing takes that are like "mike didnt do anything about the abuse everyone faced in the circus because he personally wasn't abused" which. just could not be more wrong

this information isn't displayed in the event story, so i can't blame people entirely for thinking this way. but as a hullabaloo/game 8/mike morton fan of several years, let's remember this:

1. mike was the reason that murro was able to escape the circus. mike actively helped murro, his brother, leave when murro asked for help.

2. mike's bombs were actively dangerous. one of his deductions is about bernard saying filling his juggling sacks with rocks was "too hazardous." but mike did that anyway, and made BOMBS out of ACID THAT LEAVES PERMANENT BURNS (r.i.p. joker's face) to juggle. and he did this specifically to get bernard's approval and attention. if a child feels as though the only way to get impress their parent is by Actively Endangering Themself for the sake of Cool Performance Tricks... there's something deeper going on.

3. mike, unlike everyone else in the circus, was raised at the hullabaloo since childhood. we have no record of mike's parents, one of mike's deductions is a photo of "a man with a mustache carrying a young blonde boy," which we can assume is baby mike and bernard. mike knows nothing except the circus-- he has no parents or other guardians to remember. the hullabaloo is all he had. of course he doesn't realize that the abuse his friends, his family is facing isnt normal, if he knew it was happening at all!

4. this one is a little more speculation than anything else, but it's still important to note. one of mikes deductions is a diary entry about how he touched bernard's skin with his cold hands, and bernard called him "dear mr mike morton." mike notes that he would give anything to hear bernard say that again, and that next time, mike will slip his cold hands down Bernard's collar. which...

mike is clearly lacking in a comprehension of physical boundaries one should have with their guardian here. not only is it sad that the only way to get affection out of bernard is to push those boundaries, but this implies grooming behavior on bernard's part. and, more unfortunately, it implies mike may have been sexually abused by bernard. maybe im looking too deep into it, but genuinely there is No 100% Completely Normal explanation for this deduction anyhow.

so. yeah, mike didn't hate it at the hullabaloo like everyone else. but its not his fault he didn't realize the abuse, because the abuse is all he's ever known. he's the most unreliable narrator to ever unreliably narrate, among the game eight members.

that's the tragedy of mike morton. he thought his only home was great and fine, but his world was shattered when he realized that it wasn't normal. the abuse wasn't normal. the only family he'd ever had was actively suffering even before the tragedy of the massacre.

mike's facade makes u think he's well adjusted, that nothing bad ever happened to him. but u gotta look closer to see it. just like how the hullbaloo looked alright from the outside, but behind closed doors it wasn't. and lets not forget that mike's hunter persona is Hullabaloo. he IS the circus!!

in conclusion. please do not misunderstand my boy he is just an unreliable narrator in a game where unreliable narrators (orpheus, alice) put themselves in the shoes of unreliable narrators (everyone else) to figure out their stories (which are unreliably narrated because netease is. netease)

BACKGROUND

Ophelia Hollows hails from a family of Con-Artists. At the age of eight years, her older brother Caleb (eighteen at that time) decided to run away with her, after breaking into an argument with their mother about the abuse the family suffered from their stepfather.

Sorely reliying on each other, traveling from one place to another, Caleb teached Ophelia all sorts of trickery, theft and fraud. When Caleb noticed the widespread fascination with the supernatural and séances, he began pretending to communicate with spirits. He exploited grieving people, particularly those desperate to reconnect with deceased loved ones for closure.

When Ophelia turned fourteen, things took a dark turn. Her brother conned the wrong people, leading to a violent confrontation that ended in his murder. During the incident, Ophelia herself nearly died, experiencing her first brush with death. After that near-death experience, Ophelia’s perception began to shift. She developed an unwanted and genuine connection to the dead, allowing her to see ghostly figures and hear their voices.

Over the following years, Ophelia experienced many more near-death experiences. Time and time again, she survived circumstances that no ordinary person should have been able to—accidents, violent encounters, and brushes with death that left her shaken but alive. These experiences only deepened her connection to the spirit world, blurring the line between life and death in her mind.

Despite the unease her abilities brought, she carried on her deceptive practices, adopting various aliases. Until one day, she received a strange invitation addressed to her real name, promising her a way to control her unsettling abilty to track her brothers spirit.

PERSONALITY

Ophelia is, above all, a master manipulator and yet equally charismatic woman. Lies slip into her words as naturally as breath, she instinctively knows what people want to hear and how to deliver it, drawing them in with practiced ease.

Her skeptical nature and need for control makes it challenging for her to place trust in others, as she believes everyone is driven by their own agenda. She finds comfort in the feeling of always being three steps ahead of others and maintains this by digging into people’s lives, uncovering secrets she can use to her advantage—or, if necessary, as leverage. Teamwork isn’t one of her strong suits as she has little to no hesitation about betraying someone if it ensures her own survival.

Despite the friendly and charismatic persona she projects outwardly, in truth Ophelia is far more introverted, sticking to herself and preferring to observe from the sidelines rather than immerse herself in the situation, having to decide first if getting involved is worth it.

Beneath this crafted mask, is a woman struggling with severe depression and a fragile psyche. Ophelia perceives her ability to sense spirits and hear the voices of the dead as a form of torment, often believing it to be punishment for the lies she and her brother once told about their abilities. She has no control over which spirits appear to her, which frequently causes her intense stress and, at times, even panic attacks, as some spirits can be exceedingly intrusive or, in rare cases, outright malicious. Often she experiences intense nightmares and sleep paralyses that leave her wondering and paranoid if she is even still alive.

She has idolized her brother since childhood and has never truly come to terms with his sudden death. She struggles with a sense of emptiness, haunted by the feeling that she will never measure up to him, never be as untouchable or brilliant as him. The fact that she has never seen Caleb’s spirit or heard his voice torments her deeply, as it remains her most heartfelt wish.

Vanessa Sylvia Blake is a runaway.

She spent her childhood with her father, Bill, keeping her at hospitals and ensuring that she was subjected to electroshock 'therapy' due to her 'rebellious' behaviour. Every time someone figured out that the treatments requested by her father were unnecessary, he'd grab her and skip town.

After the first few town skips, her father took her to a hospital that was local to an old Freddy's location that was noted as 'ND'. There was a reason why Bill Blake had chosen this hospital: the doctor assigned to Sylvia's 'treatment' was one of Faz Ent's own, so there was no doctor in the hospital who would be able to figure out what was going on.

However, Sylvia met a woman who shared her forename: Vanessa Shelly. Finally having a kind adult in her life helped her keep on going, and sharing stories about shit fathers even inspired her to escape.

She tried to run away over and over again, in all kinds of weather and at all times of day.

It was on one snowy night when she was 16 where her escape attempts finally succeeded.

Whilst the electroshock treatment screwed with her brain, preventing her from remembering her own mum's face, she did remember that the man she had put as her legal guardian shared the same forename and surname name as Vanessa Shelly's friend.

As soon as she found him, Bill couldn't get her anymore.

I don’t know the plot, and the stage play isn’t canon to game lore, but I just wanted you to know because of your Norton vs Ithaqua comics. It’s hilarious if their stage play characters’ relationship mirrors that of the ones in your comics.
