uuuum hi...I have a question and if anyone can answer that'd rlly be great!!

So... I am 13 yrs old, and I think I may be aroace. I know, I am still VERY young, maybe too young to be worrying about this stuff but, idk man. I fit into both categories well but I'm not sure, because it may just be me still wanting to be a kid.

But then again, I see everyone at school talking about their crushes and dating people, yet I've never had a crush or liked someone in that way. I've never desired having a romantic partner, I've never liked the idea of getting married or having a first kiss or all that boring stuff that is in every. single. dang. piece. of. media!!!

When I was younger, when I heard that a boy had a crush on me I absolutely DESPISED him for no reason.

When I was younger and I'd watch movie/tv shows and there would always be a romantic subplot I'd get so annoyed and grossed out.

When I was younger the thought of getting married and having a first kiss made me feel weirdly anxious and uncomfortable.

Whenever someone would ship me with people at school I'd get, like, violently angry.. (???? wtf i know)

Basically, what I'm asking is, do you think I'm too young?? And, at what age did you find out about it and start identifting yourself with it? I'm not too worried about it, but also, having labels makes me feel way more comfortable with myself for some reason...mrnrmgmrkf I dunno.... thx:))

Okay so, I’m currently working on a magical archives style type post for my ccau oc Yuulo but in looking at the designs i noticed something.

Their s h o e s.

Which admittedly, is a very weird thing to notice but all of them just stood out to me. Ignoring event outfits (only counting things they wear in the main storyline/displayed in the magical archive) each character has 4 different sets of shoes: Ceremonial Robe shoes, Dorm Uniform shoes, Gym Shoes, and Casual/School Uniform shoes. Now, let’s ignore the first two I mentioned in the list bc those are universal designs (excluding Ortho for obvious reasons) and that leaves us with 2 Unique shoe designs per character.

Which is probably obvious in retrospect, but then I started to rly just look at each of their picks individually and everything just feels so well thought out. Every pick feels like it fits the character and thats just so fucking cool that Yana thought out everything for every single one of them since initially in my head I was thinking they’d all just had the same design but nope!

Let me get into some examples now,

Only a handful of them have typical “anime school uniform type shoes” (for lack of a better term im sorry i don’t know shoe types that well—) and even in those cases they’re different in overall design and fit the characters. Those being: Deuce, Trey, Jack, (not gonna include Octavinelle, ill get to them soon), Silver, and Sebek which isn’t a lot! And then again, all unique in their own rights,

Deuce’s are black loafers with a rounded point giving them more of a younger look, Trey has dark brown loafers with a more pointed shape which opposite of Deuce’s makes him look a bit more mature, Jack has much wider dark mahogany loafers which fits with his physique better, Silver’s who defaults to brown loafers again though this time with more of a curved point to them and an indent cut out in the strap, and finally Sebek who has the pointed dress shoe-like black shoes but his are entirely smooth with no laces.

And since I mentioned the dress shoes so much i’ll go onto the ppl who wear those now too. Them being, Riddle, Azul, Jade, Floyd, Vil, Malleus, and Lilia (Vil and Lilia included too bc I dunno where to put them otherwise—)

All mentioned except Riddle, Vil, and Lilia wear the normal style dress shoes you’d see if you just googled it with a few different color variations here and there. Azul’s being brown with laces, Malleus and Jade having black shoes with laces, and Floyd’s being black without much like Sebeks (maybe I should’ve considered Sebek in this category too but eh hindsights)

And smth also interesting to note is that Malleus’ and Jade’s while the same in concept just… feel like they’re from different brands idk I cant explain it I think it’s bc of the way the seems or stitches look but who knows

Then the first three i mentioned, Riddle’s have a deep red portion on the middle part of his shoes, Vil’s are pointed heeled with a flared tongue and decorative strap thats blue and black to match his dorm colors (actually wait im looking at his more and i think they might even be boots..? The tongue throws me off and is a weird design on boots but the gold accent continues up so i think they are boots ahdjfksn), and then finally Lilia’s who like vil, has a higher golden colored heel that adds a bit of fancy to shoes that otherwise would be loafers and thank FUCK his aren’t boots in disguise too.

Something unrelated to shoes that’s also interesting is his pants??? fancy little old man got special pants lol

and i’m getting exhausted writing everything now idek how long i’ve been writing about SHOES but im gonna speed this up now—

Basically everyone else wears sneakers, exceptions being Cater who wears white casual slip on shoes, Leona who has his toes EXPOSED (he wears some sort of flip flop sandals looking hybrid), Kalim who’s wearing arabic curled toes which i believe are called multani khussa with a gold anklet, Epel who’s wearing a pair of very cute decorative boots with red plaid details on them (which i’m willing to bet Vil got for him—they look expensive and less practical than i think Epel would prefer), Rook who’s in tan combat/work boots, and Ortho bc well he doesn’t have feet.

Anyways I’ll talk abt the sneaker ppl and more thoughts on this if people really want me to bc I do have more but i’ve spent the last at least 30 minutes talking about SHOES of FICTIONAL CHARACTERS and I’d like to get back to drawing lmao and don’t rly think this is smth many people would be interested in so <33

honestly, the more i think abt princess x knight, the more i think princess is likely to see knight as more of an older brother figure than a romantic interest lol. and yea, idk why, she just gives me lesbian vibes lmao. but if u ship them thats fine too

seamoon usually gets the short end of the stick bc they're both legendaries and devsis like to just ride the rarity bias wave instead of giving them a proper story, but i enjoyed their crk bond story! i like the idea of sf being a singer. i just wished there were more seamoon fics </3 despite its popularity, theres barely anything on ao3 bc everything there is espresseleine...

speaking of espresseleine, i considered putting it in the "ship i dont like anymore" category bc i dislike how it overwhelmingly dominates the fandom to the point where its hard to find content of other ships. but actually i never liked it in the first place lol, i've always just been pretty neutral about it, so i decided not to include them

for sparkherbvamp, i dont include mint, because i see mint as being the token straight friend lol. i think juice bar regulars are a tight gang, but mint is with cocoa while the other three have their own thing going on. also, as a side note, i think herb totally smokes weed. just gets high as shit all the time. and him and vamp will trip out together lmao while spark is their trip sitter who always makes sure they dont get into too much trouble

darkmilk is in the controversial ship box bc ppl keep misinterpreting their story. i think theres definitely an argument to be made abt how milk idolises choco to an unhealthy degree and the relationship would probably be unhealthy and have a power imbalance, but i don't think it would be like, outright abusive/manipulative or anything. i dunno, theyre both adults, i think they could make it work. actually, probably any ship with pome could fit in this controversial box too, like pomelico, cuz the fandom usually interpret it as abusive and problematic. which isnt wrong, it definitely would be lol. but it would be an interesting ship to explore in a fictional context. so add pomelico and pome x starfruit there

for the "ships i didnt initially like", just to be clear i DO like those ships now lol. i never finished odyssey so i never rlly got to see wildchips dynamic or chemistry so thats why i wasnt into it initially but i basically absorbed gin's love for them. also the fanart is cute. affocream i didnt like initially bc i LOVE affo and i used to hate clotted, like, a lot lmao. but after following affocream artists for a long while, ive grown to like them a lot

i dont rlly have much to say abt the other ships. chilirye and raspblossom is mainly bc of their bond stories (and i especially think raspblossom deserves way more love). and wiz x proph x cinna is bc of piano lol.. i love cinna and piano got me to love wiz and proph too just thru how much he talks abt all of them

does anyone have tips on how to make a book collection ✨Look Pretty✨ when all the books are radically different sizes, genres, and designs?

this is the best i got and I'm Upset bc it doesn't look like anything i see on pinterest* LMAO

for reference: this is soooo far from all the books i own. this is probably 15% of my collection—if that. i have artbooks, biographies, magazines, newspapers, fanzines, manga, graphic novels, individual comic issues, children's picture books, regular paperback novels, and so. much. more. i have the space to house them—i just dunno how to fit em all on a shelf

what i've done in the past is sort by height and it was an awful system to maintain bc adding to my collection meant i kept shifting books everywhere trying to keep a virtually unachievable pattern. it also was a horrible organizational system bc all subject matter was mixed up and trying to find a specific book only happened if i actually remembered the exact place i put it

(spoiler alert: i never remembered where anything was. i'd just pull out books and hope it was the one i needed lol)

this time around, i've actually sorted my non-fiction stuff by category/genre, but the above photos are what i ended up with and I'm Unsatisfied by these results. i'm also planning to sort my fictional stuff by author, so maybe that'll go better? but idk y'all (=_=)

been thinkin about labels recently...

i dunno...i think i still fit under the category of being nonbinary....like i thought maybe demiboy? not sure if like trans man exactly fits me...by itself...? uhh like i feel like my gender is more masc...but i just like to present more fem tbh. i dunno... and apart of me really wants to go back on t. and maybe i'll have a right dosage because now i know i have PCOS...i think that's why i didn't see much change back when i was on t years ago...plus the doctor i had didn't really watch my blood levels...just my red blood count. only thing stopping me is that i wanted to do my single mom by choice journey...but what keeps getting in the way of moving forward is every psychiatrist gives me a hard time because im bipolar which is stupid because im not the only bipolar person who wants to be a parent...and the support group im in agrees that it's stupid how they act. idk maybe this is a sign...not to move forward....

also,...not sure if the label lesbian fits me anymore??? i mean im mainly t4t....and would possibly be interested in dating trans men...hoping that doesn't come off as "weird" tho...it's just i rather date someone who i can relate to on a personal level about gender... not sure if bi would fit again or....

I weirdly feel like I was asked this before, but then again couldn't find such an ask, so maybe it was in tags? Anyway, glad you like them haha!

IDK how to explain it, I guess I could share some of the thought process? I dunno if it'll be helpful to anybody, but I can try! 

(long post ahead; this is kinda hard to summarize shortly, plus I wanna show some visual examples)

There's basically three categories I tend to consider & they are often connected and not fully separate things? Everything has an effect to everything, kind of. These things are Theme, Colors, and Setting/Role.

Theme = Something I might choose to base the character's design on, which influences everything from colors to outfit shapes and details.

I guess good examples for this are my Telepath twins, whose appearances from details to colors are inspired largely by their chosen theme:

Milo's theme is Moth, specifically an Imperial moth that is brown and yellow, hence his colors, fluffy collar/coat. Silas' theme is Monarch butterfly, which is why his outfit has oranges and blacks.

Colors = often based on the theme, but sometimes I can choose more freely by starting the process from colors instead, where I often consider what colors would contrast well/what colors would fit the character's personality for example.

Good examples for more color-based/colors as starting point for the design are Yaguro, Chouma and Mari. (Yes more moths, sorry lmao)

Their colors are largely inspired by their personality/story. Chouma has red contrasting his green to look more intimidating/striking to kind of further press home the point he's bad news, Yaguro's largely purple/blue color scheme with just hints of yellow is bit more "harmonious" I guess, to indicate his calmer nature despite his tough guy appearance. Mari is very bright and colorful to match her cheery nature.

(.....to be fair, their colors were also chosen cuz they looked cool lmao, but usually I have some level of conscious thought put behind it)

Setting = What kind of world the character lives in/what is their role. If it's a more fantasy setting (as my oc stories often are) giving them urban clothing/modern looking stuff tends to not work for me that well lol.

 Pretty much all characters are influenced somewhat by this, but good examples of where the setting/role is the primary influence would be, well, actually the AU you mentioned, as well as The steampunk aesthetic of Stringmaster, so these two Tomuras. I feel like this is a bit self-explanatory lol

Like said, typically these three major...let’s call them my “design pillars” or whatever, are intertwined and all have an influence over what I’ll make. Typically I have one of them as the main starting point though, (Theme approach, color approach, or setting/role approach for the design) and I add stuff from the other two. I sometimes might even make some small rules to sort of keep things consistent if characters share something, such as their being; all moth spirits have dark scleroses and fluff, all corrupted moths have less fluff than non-corrupted ones, to give one example.

Of course, naturally, my own personal preferences influence design choices a lot too; I like making long-haired guys a lot, narrower eyes and generally pretty colorful characters hehe.

Everyone has a different way to approach this though of course, so you might find a different way of doing this is better suited for you! This is, like said, just my design process, how it sorta works.

Rukia week 2023 04/10-04/18

I’m thinking I may do Day 1 and 2 (Crush or Everyone’s First Love) but all the prompts are sooo gooood! ----

Ok so, Crush. The idea I have kiiinda resembles Earned It a little, since I’m thinking of writing about each guy in her life. That’s a Rukia retrospective and I like the idea, but it’s a little too similar, although I didn’t write any romantic themes with anyone other than Ichigo, so maybe I could. Hmmm...BTW that fic has 90 kudos...uyuyuy look at me hehehe. People are horny...which I get, lol.

Anyways! Ok so the premise would be all the people that had a crush on Rukia and the one Rukia fell in love with. (The 5 times someone crushed on Rukia and the one time Rukia fell in love) I’m thinking Renji, Byakuya, Kaien and Ichigo, and for the 5th Im juggling between Grimmjow or Orihime (she did have that one time she said she loved Rukia right? When she was jealous? I could work with that. She may be easier to write than Grimm ‘cause tbf their main interaction was kinda...violent). I wanna do 5 crushes cause 5 issa vibe. I don’t like 3 or 4. I’ll have to break those down later. 

Everyone’s First Love can fall into this category as well cause she could very well be all these people’s first love (except Bya and Kaien). So both those prompts fit into it. 

You see as I’m writing this Im already getting second thoughts cause this premise sounds kinda obvious, and I would bow down in a second if I knew a better writer has a similar idea. Is that fair to me though? Ah who knows. This is what my brain does though, it’ll plant the self-doubt to deep that it’ll drain any incentive to write. It’s embarrassed me every time I’ve had a deadline for a fic. I hate it.

Ugh why can’t I be a good writer! Hahaha. My brain frustrates me so much. I’m trying to get better by taking my meds and all that but I fear it’s too late cause I’m old (I’m in my late thirties but according to the internet I’m dying so). I just wanna write something that makes me so proud! Using witty word play or deep metaphors. I just feel like my writing is empty, like people can tell im try-harding. I am, trying really hard. But I can’t seem to find any depth to what I’m writing. And where did all this exposition come from? I was reading my older fics and I was going through the story a mile per second and now Im like 20k words and nowhere near the plot! I don’t even speak like that in real life! I tend to get to the point cause otherwise I’ll forget! I dunno what happens when I’m writing, especially dialogue, cause I want to explain every little expression the character is making the way I see it in my head. Maybe I need to write scripts? Well this went sideways. I was supposed to brainstorm for a Rukia fic. Lol. I wonder if practice can actually make perfect in this case, but idk. It’s just fics so who cares, only that I care cause its literally the only creative outlet I have! And the only fucking fandom I participate in! Why BLEACH?! WHY? I was looking at laptops for an unrelated reason (way cheaper than this, so it wasn't relevant), but apropos of nothing... I feel like this is kind of an interesting device. Maybe just because, like, it doesn't feel like a direct competitor to anything. That 16" 16:10 panel is unique among Windows devices, I think, and it gives it a really clean aesthetic with the minimal screen borders. I dunno, there's nothing fundamentally interesting about it, but it's not ultra high end, it's not part of the legion of cheap stuff, it's not a gaming device but it's not underpowered. I don't follow the laptop market anymore, so maybe this is just a thing now, but compared against all of my old ingrained ideas about the different categories, this sort of seems to just fit in a crack, in my mind. And that's kind of neat. Not sure if it's actually a great value like the review suggests or not, not having looked at anything else in the range, but hey.

idk, occasionally I go check in on what Dell is doing, and just go, "huh, that's not just a cookie cutter device. at least one person in that company is actually trying to make a coherent product stack instead of just copy-pasting the same product line every year with new processors. thumbs up."

ye sure! ao3 may be hard to get used to, but all the "?" in the sections do help a lot, and there's a detailed faq page on ao3, check this one if you have any questions. i'll do one anyway though

first, you'll want to click on the "new work" button here (assuming you already have an account!)

then you'll see this section, we'll gradually get into each one, but for more info you can just click the "?" button

honestly the rating and warnings are a bit of a doozy for me too, but the general ideas behind them are explained in the help buttons. if you've read fics on this website before i think you'd have a foggy understanding of ratings, they aren't too complicated. i really can't explain it any better than the help buttons do, it's just spitballing a lot of the times for me

but! fandoms! i've seen people who list their fandoms in relation to how prevalent they are in a story (ie when you have a mostly, idk, cyberverse-related fic with lots of references, you should put it first), with or without the general tag for all media, that depends, i guess, on the audience you want to attract, or in case some things reference other things from a media. the tags DO auto-fill when you type a few words (be careful about the spellings and wording in general)

categories are pretty linear and expected, dunno how to even describe them. again, the help button helps lmao

relationships is an important part - they can be skipped, but a lot of people browse for specific relationships and not fandoms. i put them in a tier-list of sorts to the importance in the story - similar to that of fandoms. don't overdo it tho! it gets muddy fast (you'll be able to see stuff better once we finish making everything pretty). again, most of this can be auto-filled!!! in case it's very obscure and rare

characters shouldn't be listed wildly - put only the ones you KNOW are important, a tiny cameo may not count, it gets kinda annoying when you look at a character tag but it's just one line (speaking from experience lmao)

additional tags are what people usually call regular tags. you can list a genre, what people could expect beyond a summary, a few popular tags that fit (hurt/comfort, angst, that sort of stuff). don't overdo it tho! ao3 does have a limit, and it's easier for the reader to read short and concise tags. you can see a list of most popular tags here, in case you get stuck

now then! the preface! just learned what it's called and that's pretty cool!

work title is pretty self-explanatory - the name of your story. das it

co-creators are a thing for people who make works with someone else - don't tic it if you aren't doing that (i have no experience so i have no idea how it works)

summary is a short description of your story. shouldn't be too long, but i've seen people do long ones, that's not the topic of this post

notes are the creator's place to yell, tell something cool, promote stuff, whatever. i love to talk to my readers through there, explain some out-of-story context or aus in mind. it's not mandatory and can be totally skipped

this weird stuff

collections and challenges are wacky. i'm not explaining that, there are way more knowledgeable people out there for this section

"gift this work to" is used for... gifting a story to someone! who knew! but for real you just type a username and in the title it would say "(work name) by (username) for (username)", it would appear in the giftee's profile. or something

these other things are... complicated.

i've never filled this cause i never did this, but it seems pretty straight-forward

part of a series is easy! it's like collections but so much simpler. your personal hole to put stuff in. order doesn't usually matter. if you have created a new series, you can put it there, or you can create a series, its literally two buttons

multiple chapters is a thing in case it's not a one-shot. if you don't have an idea about how many chapters there could be, you can just leave it with a question mark. no need to name the chapters, either, they'll just be listed as "chapter 1, chapter 2" etc, or name it whatever you want

haven't used the publication date i have no idea what this magic button does!!!!

choosing a language is mandatory. just pick a language from their list and that's it!

i have no idea how work skins work

privacy is filled unless you're anxious about a guest (an unregistered ao3 user) seeing your work (sorry that's just a description of me. my bad). it's pretty clear though

now, let's get into the m e a t

html version of the text is the one where everything is filled with a command, but it's really complicated and i'm not a programmer, so i always use the rich text version

now, you can write your fic in the ao3 textbox, but if your website crashes - say bye-bye. people write in different apps i'm not listing here, so you can copy the text over and edit there however you please

there are a lot of nuances regarding the text editor, but you can test it yourself with anything, a bunch of things do cool stuff, like italics and bold text that can enrich your writing. i rarely use it for.... reasons (a bit of a ramble but i want my text to convey all these choices without me using them, but sometimes italics help)

the final stretch!

i always preview my works before they get published. period. you never know when an italic messed up your spaces, you forgot to delete a space inbetween paragraphs, and whatever

previewed works go into drafts, which you can publish once you check if everything is a-okay. if you take too long though..... ao3 will think that the date you made the draft is the day you basically published the thing. so be careful with that! don't rush it, but don't leave it for more than a few hours, you'll have to start over. maybe it's a me-only glitch, maybe it's not, i'm not willing to check

and there you go! once you do all that, and you've checked your tags and the text (preferably more than once lmao), you're ready to post it! should take about 5-10 minutes to appear in the tags and fandom. you're all set!

i do hope this was somewhat helpful bc i'm not a tech-savvy person and i just do things my own way. there are a bunch of posts on tumblr to help you post on ao3, so look for those in case there are questions

So I dont like disagree with any kind of interpretation of two mafia boys who hang out a lot. Yeah, they're really brotherly! Yeah, they're besties too! Yeah, they could be a little more intimate than that at the same time! But people act like you have to choose just one dynamic, and it excludes the rest kinda? And idk how to feel about *that*. (Yeah obviously these two are just a vessel for my complex thoughts rn bear with me lol (or not, u can leave I wont blame u).

THE PERSONAL feel free to skip

I have people in my life who I consider family, who still dont fall into a traditional family dynamic (and especially not *my* actual biological family dynamic). I also have ppl that I love a lot that still wouldnt be considered "traditionally romantic", which is kind of an inevitability since nothing about me is traditional anyway, and I can't really help that. I've already struck out on most of these category qualifications (no attachment to biological family dynamics, non-monogamous, non-sexual) so I'm never gonna understand or fit in those super defined boxes.

UNPERSONAL AGAIN

Also thinking about on one hand, "non-American views on intimacy" and "non-modern-Christian-nuclear family dynamic". As in, firstly, just because you are physically affectionate with someone doesnt mean its inherently romantic if that's not the intent behind it. A lot of cultures are much more physical than what you see on (largely americanized) TV and the internet, and people are way too quick to put a sexual/romantic label on ANY act of physical intimacy. Secondly, found family is the best, but that doesnt mean it has to follow the traditional western family model (I'd argue that it shouldn't). Two boys who see each other as family despite only knowing each other for like a year wouldn't act the same as two boys who grew up together from day 1. Why would they? Why would you put the same lens on both? I have a specific distaste for "haha REAL siblings are constantly mean to each other youd know if you REALLY had siblings" because no?? Your experiences are not universal???

And like man, isnt Bucci Gang specifically about being the people on the fringe of society who don't fit in with the common understanding? I know the jokey view is Mom, Dad and 3 rowdy sons but it's never gonna be that clean-cut with people like that. Its defined by literally nothing but themselves, bc no one else would ever really get it, and no one else has to. That's queer found family culture BABEY.

So idk, I like my boys in a specific dynamic that doesnt really have a label, nor does it need one?? Cant they just be the way they are without needing other people to understand it fully? Interpersonal relationships are way more complex than 3 categories. And I'm sure everyone gets that, I am by no means galaxy braining right now, but sometimes you just gotta ramble about the unexpected inspirations you get from badly animated anime boys.

I really don't know how to tell people this, but masculinity for transmascs isn't a privilege. Masculinity is only a privilege for ablebodied, white, cisgender, neurotypical, heteromantic, heterosexual men. That is the only group that isn't punished or demonized for being masculine. The moment a man or someone who's percieved as a man doesn't fit into all of those categories, their masculinity is used against them. They are either not really men, not good enough to call themselves men, or they're predators.

Idk, these are just thoughts. I dunno if there's any validity here or not. Just...saying that transmascs are privileged for being masculine doesn't sound right at all.

Outfit redo predictions! (These are my thoughts and opinions, they hold no real world value)

Yanfei:

Her top will become one piece the way Jean’s did. No more open shoulders, instead she’ll have a button up black and white blouse with (possibly) a black vest the way she currently does. Just not cropped.

Her skirt will stay the same but the safety shorts underneath will be made longer like Amber’s were

Her boots might change height so they’re knee high instead of mid calf

Xiangling:

Not much needs to change here. I feel like she could end up getting capri pants that are kinda puffy like Chongyun’s or Razor’s

Her top might not change? There’s no midriff exposure or cleavage… Maybe they’ll give her sleeves? Or a very short over the shoulder cape thing made from the same yellow and black material in front of her (idk if it’s a dress?? Or a top with a skirt and shorts?? Genshin outfits are confusing)

Venti:

Venti is all good when it comes to showing skin. He’s covered head to toe pretty much but he does violate the ‘no more feminine men’ rule (which is bs)

I feel like he’ll get capri pants that are either brown or dark green and his corset will be removed in favor of a plain vest. I don’t think they’ll change his design too much… venti is one of the faces of the game, I think they’d want to keep him looking as close to his original design as possible while still following the law

Baizhu:

Say goodbye to his crop top… That’s gonna go away for sure. Not sure about anything else tbh, he isn’t violating the dress code in any other way besides showing his stomach. Mhy better not give him a haircut or I’ll riot

Kaeya:

Very possible that they’ll button up his shirt in the same way they did for Jean. Might add embellishments like fancy lookin buttons?

Eula:

This one is tough because her upper half fits the dress code just fine…? I feel like they don’t even need to change her

Maybe solid blue tights instead of exposed thighs? Dunno..

Lisa:

I think our fav librarian might have to cover up

They can heighten her top’s neckline and add some more jewelry

I don’t see myh putting her in pants or long sleeves… not sure what they’re gonna do for her tbh but I feel like she’s getting a change

Noelle:

It would be so easy to give her a turtleneck or button up shirt. Her necktie flares out to cover her collarbones already but it likely isn’t enough. I don’t see drastic changes to her design tbh, shes well within the dress code since she has tights, a knee length skirt, sleeves and gloves. Her cleavage will probably have to be covered by something, I’m speculating that it’ll be a button up shirt but it could be a full chest plate of armor? That would be sick and it would make sense for her character <3

I’m also thinking about itto… he shows the most skin out of any male character so far. Will he be dress coded? Even if he doesn’t fall into the ‘feminine looking’ category? I don’t actually know how strict these rules are so I can only sit here and speculate. Itto might get a pass since he’s a ‘manly man’… Gorou might not, he may have to cover up?? Or not???

It’s sad to see that this is a forced thing for Chinese players. On the flip side, I think it’s nice to see some changes. After staring at the same clothes for a year, it’s exciting to get changes!

Recently I decided that the fireside girls are phenomenal and deserve much more characterization than they got in the show. I’m very sorry for how long it took me so long to realize this!

Anyways to start off here’s some casual clothes since we never saw them outside their uniforms in the show!! Explanations for each under the cut as per usual! :D

Just a disclaimer that while I used every scrap of evidence I could find from the wikis and rewatching the failed pilot episodes that I did have to make some stuff up for these. In the future I hope to build on what the show gave us for more fully fleshed out characters but until then here’s a start!! 

Gretchen

I should let y’all know now that I did base their color schemes off of those in act your age! But I gave everyone a secondary color as well (if they didn't already have one)

Gretchen, according to the wiki is “Extremely Smart, happy” (extremely smart being unique)

She is also the only (known) one with the Saying A Word No One Else In The Room Knows Patch 

From that we can take that she’s in the same sort of archetype as Huey Duck, Violet Sabrewing, Frida (hilda), Clemont (pokemon xyz), etc. 

So I tired to base her outfit on them!

In this case it’s mostly Huey, Violet, and Frida because pokemon outfits follow different rules 

Violet and Frida’s outfits are more similar because they’re what I consider “comfortable” 

And while I love their designs I decided to go the other route!

The other route being Huey! Aka I wanted to give her a polo shirt skjdfhgk

Besides, for Gretchen’s age up design I think her outfit fits in the same category as Violet and Frida’s do! So we’ll get there eventually!

But anyways yes, I took the polo shirt from Huey then decided I should probably give her pants because she isn’t a duck where its socially acceptable to not wear pants sksajdhfgaks

So yeah a pleated skirt just seemed the right way to go yes? :D

Katie

Yes Katie is wearing crocs

Why you may ask?

BECAUSE WHAT ARE THOSE SUPPOSED TO BE OTHER THAN CROCS

LISTEN- I tried, I really did, to come up with something other than crocs

Well I couldn’t without ignoring this part of her character design which is 90% of what I have to go off of

Anyways from her wiki entry her personality is described as “Kind, helpful, cute”

This makes cute her only unique trait among all the fireside girls (except technically Isabella)

She’s also the only (known) one with the semaphore patch (that isn’t on her wiki but it is stated in bee story) 

btw this is totally unrelated to my design but I’m thinking what if Katie got into color guard when she’s older? skjdhfakasj idk I think she would like it

Anyways!! At another point in the wiki it mentions her “running gag” (running gag in quotations because it only happened once I watched the episode specifically looking for this) where she says/does unusual things to get a glance from the other girls

I’m taking that to mean she’s silly!!!!! 

Hence the crocs sksjdhfak

The overalls just seemed to fit her nature, and like I know Baljeet already has overalls but she’ll fight him for it k? skjhdsak

Milly

I’ll say here that Milly and Holly have the least characterization from their wikis which I’m very sad about

Okay so Milly’s  “Kind, helpful, Happy” (no unique traits), is bad with secrets (operation crumb cake), and has one more Help Thy Neighbor patch because she went back to Phineas and Ferb’s house after everyone left at some point

Unfortunately from first glance we don’t don’t have a lot to go off of character design wise with these

However!! I know another character who's bad with secrets, helpful, and wears a bow in her hair!! That's right- Webby Vanderquack (btw very sorry to anyone who hasn't watched Ducktales I’m gonna keep bringing it up because I love it a lot I’m sorry)

So I loosely based this design on Webby’s! Aka dress shirt thing (in this case, a blouse) and a skirt that I think is neat!! 

Webby’s design leans more into her nerdy side and so I made Milly’s lean toward sweetness!! (not saying Milly isn’t nerdy, there's just no evidence to suggest that she is so I didn’t lean into that) (also that would be too close to literally just drawing Webby’s outfit which I also didn’t want to do)

Holly

I’m restating that Holly and Milly get practically nothing from their wikis (Holly getting the least)

In conclusion: Gretchen and Holly are best friends.

This time basing it loosely of of Satsuki from My Neighbor Totoro because she’s who I think of for an orange and yellow color scheme! 

(she also gives me Boyd (DT again) vibes from the color I chose for the shorts though haha)

Adyson

Starting right off the bat the wiki gives us “Sometimes comical, helpful, accident-prone, nice”

Accident prone gives us bandages

Adyson also has the unique patch of the appliance repair patch 

She also used to have the record patch for earning six patches in one day before Candace broke that record!

So I gave her running shorts and a sleeveless hoodie because I take that as she’s slightly sporty (athlesure but more casual)

Adyson was really much more straightforward than the others

I had an idea in my head that made sense so I went with it, y’know?

Ginger

okay but WHY IS GINGER SO TALL

I’m not even talking about how much taller I made her here because I was basing it off of the show!!! She’s stupid tall!!! 

And like I know Stacey and her mom are both tall so of course she would be too but LOOK AT THIS

I REALLY liked her light blue and indigo color scheme in aya so I tried to keep that! 

I wish I could have incorporated a little more light blue but with the style of dress I went with that wasn’t really possible

I think he’s cute though, and his body slams in a ‘naturally fit’ kind of way. Like he’s ripped but it’s not overdone which I’m down with. But he is like a giraffe. I’m a sucker for sarcastic little shits, but also I feel like he’s probably very vanilla but maybe has a deeply devilish side? Ultimately I would smash just to confirm or disprove my suspicions?

Max: Hard pass. I just… couldn’t. Not my type, don’t really vibe with him. Sometimes comes out with some sarcasm but ultimately gets outweighed by the other stuff.

Checo: Again pass. Just looks eternally bewildered. The personification of the 😳 emoji. Just doesn’t do it for me.

Charles: so is Charles attractive? Yes. Is Charles anything special? No. Instagram is now home to a gazillion guys all with the Charles Leclerc look so to me his stock has plummeted. If he’s offering, I’d smash but I’m not putting in the effort to chase him down.

Carlos: I feel like this will fall in the ‘Unpopular Opinion’ category, but Carlos’ hair is a turn off. I’m sorry. I’m probably now on some kind of list. I’m insecure about my own hair, I have no interest in smashing a guy with locks more luscious than mine. Pass.

Lando: Lando’s sense of humour strays too far into Chad territory for me. Instant turn off. Also looks like he’s about to sit his GCSE’s. Pass.

Daniel: Chad sense of humour again but has a slightly better grip on it. Slightly more witty. Tattoos are a turn on, General ignorance about world issues is a turn off. Would smash, but the inability to have a serious conversation with him means it would just be a smash and go.

Pierre: Pierre is a difficult one. I know everyone swooned over his tits last week, but when he’s clothed I sway back and forth on him. Idk if I actually find him cute facially or not because his facial hair is doing ALOT of heavy lifting. Kinda falls into the same category as Charles. Probably would smash but I’m not chasing him for it.

Yuki: Pass, he is a child. Killer fashion sense lately, feels too much like jailbait.

Fernando: You know what, I think I probably would? Dunno if it’s some older guy thing I’ve stumbled into, but I’m struggling to think of a reason not to? 100% do not agree with most of his past exploits, Being involved in one “gate” is careless, being involved in two is quite frankly suspicious, but I get witty evil genius vibes from him and so in that sense I’d smash.

Esteban: He reminds me of George but less bratty and so less intrigue. Would be a pass because I’m just not inclined to find out?

Seb: Chad Seb of old would have been a hard pass. New, socially aware, socially responsible Seb is a straight up smash. We Stan personal growth, but ultimately I don’t think he’d be interested cos he wouldn’t cheat on his wife.

Lance: Pass. Far too aloof, and just exudes rich privileged brat vibes, but the bad type of bratty. Would probably get confused that he couldn’t buy you into orgasm. Just looks eternally bored as well.

Alex: Alex is a smash. The cringe dad jokes, the willingness to make himself look stupid to benefit others. Alex seems awkward but there’s a definite quiet, secure confidence there that is just ultimately smashable. I’d be a bit worried a cat would appear out of nowhere though

Nicky: I think Nicky is a nice guy. I think he’s aware of his privilege and doesn’t seem like an asshole with it. I think he means well but it’s be a pass… but I’d feel bad about it and it would end up in a pity smash?

Valtteri: Look, coffee has laxative qualities and I have concerns about anyone who gets as excited about it as he does. It’d be a pass, mainly because I think he’s secretly into kinky shit because it’s always the quiet ones, and I’d be scared I couldn’t keep up with him.

Guanyu: I honestly don’t know enough about him. He seems nice enough, good fashion sense but I’ve barely heard him say two words. I’d literally leave it up to him. I wouldn’t say no but again, I’m not chasing it?

Mick: he’s just so soft. It’d be a smash but it’d be the slowest, softest, vanilla fairy tale smash. Actual Disney Prince shit. Shooting stars, rainbows and unicorns in the background probably.

Kevin: Smash. He’s got that rugged scandi look going on. Kind of quiet and brooding. Bit of an arsehole but not overly so.

Jamie: Jamie’s not my type. Just a bit too bland and vanilla with her personality. She’s pretty but it’d be a pass

Wait I’m starting to see people put s6 in the same “ah shit it went terrible halfway through” category... and I’m like?? I dunno, how do you feel about the season Ellie? I’m genuinely still quite enjoying it, sure there’s a lot going on and some things not so great, but yeah I dunno I’m surprised it’s reached that level of dissatisfaction and when the turning point for that was if you feel the similar?

I actually still like it a lot ! And with a little bit of distance, I actually really appreciated the last few clips.

I am scared about getting an improper resolution, though ; it does feel too much, and my general opinion of the season will really depend on the episodes we still have. If they rush the resolution, I will be pissed.

But honestly, seen as how dark the beginning of the season was, what we are getting now doesn't seem inappropriate at all. It both fits with the plot and the themes. And while yes, it's a lot (maybe too much) to deal with for such a short series, I still think it's narratively coherent and a lot of people claiming "bad writing" simply aren't willing or able to engage beyond the shallow level of "this makes me feel bad so it must be bad."

I actually got worried in the middle of the season that they would resolve Lola's issues too easily, shove them under the rug. Her problems are so massive that to show an easy resolution would have been naive and done her a disservice. With the last few clips, however, I feel we are on track to adress her real issues : her self hate linked to how she has been treated and let down by adults around her ; her tendency towards self-harm/sabotage and picking the most negative version of truth.

I really like that they're showing the darker underbelly of mental illness in a way that is complex, psychologically accurate, and focuses on character dynamics rather than the spectacular bits like we see more often (like idk, vomiting, the aftermath, etc etc). Because by showing how it actually works, you can understand and actually get better. It's not just erratic behavior, it comes from somewhere. Earlier in the season we have seen her get better thanks to the help of other people but at the same time, it felt external, not like she had made a choice herself. This time I think she will have to make the choice to get out of that negative mindset and god it has the potential to be sooooo goood and important.

Same with the fathers drama. I was afraid that the few family hugs would be the end of it and that would have made me angry. You don't solve that level of dysfunction with a few hugs. Now the ugly is coming to the surface, you can actually adress it. "He is trying hard and has good intentions" isn't enough ! Easy warm feelings does not equal a satisfying conclusion!

Honestly, I am fucking angry at a lot of the fandom. You can criticize the writing choices, sure, but a lot of what people are saying doesn't come over like that. It comes over as exactly the type of mindset that creates this intolerance in the first place. Like some symptoms of mental illness are fucking ugly as hell ! It's how you deal with it that matters. But a lot of people don't want to see that because it makes them uncomfortable, they just want to be able to romanticize MI as a "spice" for their love story. They prioritize their comfort over how useful and cathartic these stories can be to people who have gone through this shit and honestly...🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
