What fic do you think best shows your style of writing?

this is such an interesting question! i partly don’t know at all because i like to experiment a lot and i do like to think that sort of experimentation is a part of my style

with that being said i do feel like i really grew into my own with metamorphosis in terms of multichapter writing, and i feel like i was able to do a lot with the structure and feel of it. however, im obviously not always writing multichapters, and i do think i have a different sort of style for shorter fics which i think shows through in stuff like the definition of insanity or doa that relies on snippet-y sections that kind of blur the lines between time, character, and emotions

Something fucking weird happened to me yesterday. A few fucking weird somethings in fact.

I was at a premiere party for a local comedian's special, maybe like 25-30 people in a little art commune backyard space, kinda place with a bunch of art sculptures and free ranging cats and a fun vibey vibe.

This comedian is one of those kinda 'i'm not a terf i just think maybe trans people could tone it down a little' lesbians who i first met through a trans comic friend (who no longer speaks with this comedian over some apparently terfy views) so i'm kinda already on red alert. But there's a few other trans girls there and generally I don't think this comedian is like hateful or even terfy i think she's just kinda catring to a certain demographic of queer people that aren't as progressive or whatever.

not my particular FAVORITE crowd of people or ideology but I'm interested in hearing and hanging out with reasonable people whose views are different than mine, assuming they are pleasant and not disrespectful, yknow, so i went into the party with an open mind.

i was being a social lil butterfly as i'm wont to do and i met this big burly beardy kinda guy, he seems chill, nice enough. Later in the party after a bit of weed and drinks have been slung, he comes up to me and asks if I can help him get some drugs. He asks if I have any Clomid. I haven't ever heard of it, I look it up and he explains it's a fertility drug for cis or trans women, he described it as an estrogen blocker and i guess it makes ovaries OR testicles more fertile if a trans woman has undergone HRT, I guess.

I'm a little dumbfounded and trying to figure out what the hell is going on, why this random dude is asking me for meds i know nothing about, and i'm desperately trying to figure out the context of this request. I'm making him a little uncomfortable with my questions, trying to figure out if this is a trans man, closeted trans woman, detransitioned trans woman, or i dont even know what, and i ask for a little bit of clarity.

he offers up, "well... i was a boy who got raped and spent some time where i thought i was a woman but now i'm on testosterone again and trying to have a baby" and i'm like... okay detransitioned trans woman i guess, and i'm like yeah sorry i have no idea if i can find anyone who could get these meds for you. I asked him why he was asking me and he said "[comedian's name but ALSO his partner's name, so i don't know which person he's referring to] said you were a safe person to talk to about this. Conversation basically ended there and i walked away from it thinking it was extremely strange, not knowing how to process any of what just happened.

Then later i meet another person who's detransitioned, she was 'being a guy' for a while then kinda ended up not resonating with it and is presenting femme again.

the party just kinda started closing in on me at that point, just started feeling like more people there might be detrans, is this the audience of people, is this the vibe of the party, did the comedian mean something else when i made a joke earlier to her along the lines of "yeah looking bad is so hot right now" (just lightly roasting gen z type style and all that stuff which isn't my vibe obvi) and she said "yeahhh you couldn't be more right" in a kind of way that i could have interpreted as being in reference to ME if she was saying something along the lines of 'you ugly man in a dress' if she IS a closeted terf orrrrrrrr

idk. so much of this is spiraling based on a weird experience and also RSD that goes haywire in situations where my transness has even a 10% chance of being related. but also like. maybe my intuition should be trusted and it really was a bad situation? i just wish i had some neutral way to find out what the hell was going on but it feels so fraught

I guess these are kind of cute, but if I'm honest, "cute" doesn't really... work with the ikran design imo. Also they look worse in person than they do in photos, which is truly impressive, usually it's the other way around.

Come on. That barely even looks like a nantang. I had to stop and figure out whether it was supposed to be a nantang, palulukan, or some kind of melanistic pa'li.

The soulless eyes and human smile are what get me, I think. Like - does this not look worlds better?

for the deep sigh, i couldn't find any pictures of peter with orange hair (the actual design choice that makes me sigh in suffering) lol and aside from that his appearance tends to be... pretty consistent... but that peter is the next worse thing i guess... (idk why, the vibes are just off)

the only "sighs deeply" that's strictly writing related is mary jane (though gwen's general perception as it relates to that style of angelic haziness would also qualify but i wasn't thinking of any specific comic as much as an Ideal when i picked that cover, idk if the comic it's from is any good)— i just really. don't like marvel knights spider-man. I DO like the scene where MJ shoots norman with a gun but other than that her characterization bugged the hell out of me. it felt very infantilizing and condescending...

for the others it's mostly just me being like... ugh... not pretty enough (or too pretty in harry's case 😂 too afraid to make him scrunkly 😔)

i also haven't seen any of the cartoons so i just picked the one i like the art direction on the best and that my friends like LMAO

and for popular i just picked random comics written by dan slott (except for gwen lol) cause idk what each character's most popular appearance ever is and i am not about to try to figure it out lmao

anyway, i didn't make it specifically the au, this is just my default way of drawing them all, except my default... kinda is the au even for the suit, with the main difference mostly being like... peter's nose... flash's hair... small details...

2. AOKO

Wow. I realised just how little brain space I dedicate to her... but she's also so silly. I love her so much. She's a great character to pair up with Kaito (for any relationships, I love when they're having fun together.) She doesn't need more suffering <3

I love sm how in MK1412 they added extra scenes of the Ekoda gang! And Aoko looks so cute in it! (everyone else? ... it varies)

Now this is a hella hot take but I personally think KaiAo is much more interesting than ShinRan (for me). And fun too, because I've always been drawn to fun and teasing dynamics like these over the more romantic ones (if you get what I mean by more romantic). KaiAo and Shinran both are such wonderful couples though. *Bangs fists on table* THEY'RE BOTH SO UNBEARABLE CUTEEE

Someone told me I have very similar vibes to Aoko and I've been reevaluating myself XDD. No but I can see it. I think we have a similar energy (in my brain at least, I'm much more tired when I go out) and even preferred fashion.

Would give her a kiss anytime. Definitely. Let's go out on a picnic and have a fun hangout. We would be good friends.

3. SHINICHI/CONAN

Drawing was inspired by that scene where Conan gets suspicious of Hanzawa-san (from The Culprit Hanzawa, a spinoff of dcmk.)

Ok, so the thing is, I have a very strange relationship with him.

He's so silly, right? He so fun, he's adorable, so caring and well meaning, but I'm scared of him. I wouldn't want to meet him. I'm terrified even though he's so nice 😭. So I'd rather observe from a distance (hence the drawing ^ but I'd definitely set off his senses a lot.)

(What does it say about me that I'm scared of Shin/Cone but not Kaito? I'm working on overcoming my fear of Conan/Shin, I promise *on my hands and knees* I REALLY AM)

(My irl friend understands why I'm so terrified, I've explained the crazy stunts he's done and his very illegal spy equipment to them... they actually got a nightmare about Conan that night. He's such a law breaking little gremlin (affectionate)) So...no kisses for you, detective... only because I'm too intimidated 😭 But I'll gladly make content dedicated to you and fawn over you <3

If it's not already obvious, Kai > Shin/Cone for me. But he's definitely a close second.

Shin's/Cone's aesthetic? So peak. His detective work and general vibes with the series is so banging. That clean formal attire - I love wearing more formal stuff out. Being judged for it? At this point I don't really care hahaha. His mismatching outfits are so endearing, but I don't really vibe with them.

Canon is kinda frustrating for me. Well, as usual, I love to pick out the pieces I love and keep them dear to my heart. Ugh I want more identity issues and character relationship focuses. And more Shinran, this is literally ridiculous for slowburn lol.

I know you already gave us your thoughts about Eddsworld Legacy, but what do you think about Eddsworld Beyond for now?

To be completely honest, I'm really on the fence with beyond. They're in like this weird fluctuating state, and to me that comes off like them not knowing what they're doing

Sometimes we'll get something hilarious, but more often than not beyond feels awkard and rushed. Stilted is the best word i think. (I'm also just really not a fan of jons animation for the show, which doesn't help at all. His EW style has always felt extremely flat to me ,sorry jon)

Stuff usually feel unfinished or rushed somehow , ex surf n turf. Part one was probably the most uncomfortable episodes we've gotten so far. you could've easily rearranged things so that the intro of them arriving at the beach was at the beginning of part two, and have it be a single episode. It feels like filler before the actual plot starts next episode

It kinda feels like they're trying to imitate every aspect of Edds work, and it's giving me like. Skinwalker vibes. I get it, Edd made little short animtions with random new characters occasionally. But when a full team makes one with a new character, ties an ad read to it, then never touches that character again, it feels confusing and out of place. IDK i just feel like you loose that ability to just make whatever you want when you put together a team, even if its a small indie group. Maybe im wrong there but the point is i thouht the birds and the bees was dumb

I'll keep my option on the team brief. I don't hate anyone on the team nor do i think any of them are Bad People, but there's definitely been a lot of questionable behavior that has come from these guys. Example, I've always been offput by their relationship with Tord’s characters. In the website they put this:

Yet consistently tease the fans with his existence (ex the caveman episode, tori being canonized, his picture clearly torn out in SnT1, having an entire month of tord merch) Either address the situation or don't, guys. You can't sarcastically be like "oh get over it" when YOU'RE the ones that keep bringing him back. You didn't even answer the question dude, no wonder so many kids beg for his return

I guess I can't be THAT pissed when the money all went to charity, but it still just feels inherently weird and disrespectful to merchandise this character after his creator removed him nearly 15 years ago. Atleast Tomska allegedly asked permission and had good intentions. This feels like they (beyond) just don't give a fuck. If any team members are reading this I'm BEGGING YOU: STOP LETTING THEM BRING BACK TORD . THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT . Tord Larsson deserves to be left alone, and to stop getting connected to this show in his past.

Despite everything, I still want to support the team. I'll be honest, SnT2 gave me hope for the series I haven't had in quite a while. It wasn't the greatest, but it was a step upwards. And I'd love to see them keep going up ! Genuinely, I would love nothing more than to see these guys succeed in recreating what made the show good initially. Eddsworld changed my life, so really its incredible to see it still kicking around today. Even if it's in this weird, amorphous glob state. They just need to figure out what the hell they're doing

TLDR: the current state of the show is kinda rough, the team feels discombobulated and has made some weird decisions, however I still have hope that they can make this into something amazing someday

Btw the outfits aren't necessarily what they would have been wearing the night of the fire, but they're based on what they were wearing that night (I didn't want to just do pajamas for M or any coats)

M'Anne - The slippers are the same as Anne's, that's about it. The rest of it is just midcentury-dad-around-the-house because it's as close as I could get to Anne's housecoat. How come Anne has no other outfits in the game 😒

Jane - She gets to have some cat-eye glasses as a treat ✨ (We do not try to make sense of her left arm. The watch is visible and that's all I care about at this point ☠)

Terry - Or his left arm. His shirt is reminiscent of Tanya's uniform but not a uniform. I thought about switching things up and giving him a sun necklace and her a moon keychain but I didn't feel like putting him in a necklace, I wanted his sideburns to be the main fashion-forward thing on him

Violet - Corduroy like Vince's coat, except it's a dress and not a coat. Also cinnamon colored stockings, which were having a moment in the early 70s

Dana - So the og plan was the jacket tied around her waist, but somehow I didn't like how it turned out so I did another version (I do like both of them now tho). It actually would have worked to just copy-paste Dennis's whole outfit for her but that's not what I'm here for

Alison - Corduroy again, like Anthony's pants. The dress is a slightly dated style to channel the vibes of his pilly janked-up "should have let go of this a year ago but I still like it" sweater (Anthony's sweater my beloved 💙)

Martin - Based on what Megan wears in the family photo but trying to keep the shirt reminiscent of her nightgown (don't question the pattern lol, pre-made brush). I went with the little girl's red for the sneakers and some good old 1970s plum-colored pants because I like Megan in purple

About the names, I'm not terribly concerned with them but I figured the same amount of syllables and order of emphasis (as much as possible) is more important to me than exact male/female counterparts, I guess it has to do with vibes and being able to hear canon lines the same way just with the names replaced, idk.

I do like Terry and Martin for those two because those names were huge when the Clarke kids were born, and Jane, Violet, and Dana are ok too but the A's are causing problems, especially for a man so it'll just have to be anything else that wasn't used for an A-boy in the game. Like I said I'm not terribly concerned with it but I'm open to suggestions, otherwise it's just "M'Anne" lol

That's the thing about writing. The more you do it the more you realize what you're bad at but that's not always a bad thing. You can't improve on what you don't know needs improving.

Don't pressure yourself to make Yuu grunge or hard-core for wider appeal. I think all twst writers put a little bit of themselves into their povs, so if you know punk the story will probably be a lot easier to write since that's you! (If you wanted them to be different than Deuce and Ace I'd vote trad goth. That style goes so fucking hard and so does their music bauhaus my beloved. Also i guess kind of fits with Ramshackle?) Is this meant to be a sort of classic horror vibes? Because I dig it. I think Stranger Things did us all a disservice by sucking ass and making people think 80s horror should die because it became too mainstream :/

OK so to make a very long thing short, yes lolita did exist in the 1980s but it didn't really look like anything it does today. It was pretty much all handmade, and though the first brands were around we have no idea what their peices looked like since the fashion wasn't really widely worn or photographed until the 1990s. It didn't even have its name until the 90s. Lolita as it exists today is very much a 90s/early 2000s fashion which is honestly wild to me. As for ouji, it pretty much grew alongside Lolita so that would also be a no go.

Given Riddle's backstory I can't really see him as an 80s lolita. He doesn't seem like the sewing type to me... but there is this one brand that helped influence Lolita fashion called PINK HOUSE that was stupid popular in Japan in the 80s. I'll link you to this blogspot article which is both about the brand and the misconception in English speaking spaces about the term "natural kei" but I think it suits Riddle if you wanted to give him a lolita like vibe. The tl;dr of the article is that it PINK HOUSE and it's original designer Kaneko was a staple in 80s fashion in Japan, and is referred to as just PINK HOUSE or Kaneko fashion. As it lacks the community or aesthetic of kei fashions or lolita it is not considered a part of those groups... which does sort of fit Riddle in a way as his mother isolates him from both 💀

so uh how do you plan out stories? like as a person myself ive never really find male reader stories that is in my style so i decided to make stories myself TT

i specifically want stories that are heavy in angst (thats why i said in the beginning if you are the correct writer for this). how are you able to plan out angsty stories? how long do you plan to write the introduction and when is a good time for the introduction to shift to the other parts? and when is the perfect time for the climax of the story?

i’m not the best with the angst at all, i think i’ve only written it like once/twice and it was kinda bad each time — but i would say in terms of planning it out you would want to begin with identifying an inciting incident!! aka, figure out what you’d want your pain “problem/conflict” of the fic to be, and then decide how you want to introduce that problem, if that makes sense.

if we’re talking about timing, i would say my average fic follows a movie’s structure. i believe stories overall are received best when you use what i guess i call the “sandwich method” LMAO,, which is:

fluff > introduction of conflict > actual conflict > resolution > fluff

basically meaning i usually start my stories (the few that have plot 😭) off with good vibes, and then descend into the root of the issue, and then once your reader/character resolves the issue, it obviously ends in a happy ending lol.

however, every writer is different and every story is different which is what makes it so much fun!! considering you really like angst, you could start your story MID-conflict to be honest, which actually grabs the average reader’s attention much more often. whereas the climax of the story usually takes place near the ending. you could also explore sad endings!!

im not the most qualified to give this advice but i figured i’d just share my thought process a little bit!! i’ll have been writing for a year come the end of this month so i’m still pretty new & have lots to learn!!!

I AM HERE to give a fic review nobody asked for but i have no one else to talk about it

I have finished CWM couple hours ago and i've been obsessing over it ever since. Firstly would like to point out that cwm was already in my reading list and when i decided to start reading it after sending you that first ask i kept asking myself "why didn't i read it sooner?" cause i do have a severe case of love square brainrot and i have an unresolved passion with ice skating so why haven't i read that indeed.

Then I got the scene in which Adrien's ed is revealed and it was a big OH THAT'S WHY moment for me. I have been recovering from an ed myself for years and i try to avoid the topic because i dont think i'm there yet yk? ANYWAYS. That did make my reading take a little longer than planned, out of caution really, but nothing i couldn't handle (my therapist will be very proud). On that note, I would like to apologize for needing to skip some of the more in-depth ed related parts, but to also congratulate you on the way you handled the subject. I don't usually feel safe reading these type of stories, but cwm was an exception due to your writing and story telling skills.

It really is amazing how well you are able to sell rivals to lovers narrative. dymdc and cwm both had me invested in their rivalry. It didn't feel forced, the progression of the relationship had incredible pacing and the reasons behind were believable. Like, writing this trope is so hard because it's easy to fall in traps of the narrative – not making the rivalry strong enough or making it too strong and having to bullshit a reason to end it – but you do it SO WELL. LIKE. i actually don't have words, I keysmashed three times over this so yeah i guess that's what i have to say.

Something I would also like to point out: the choice of performances. bruh. You matched the characters vibes to the choreographies so well. Like I know nothing about the fem skater from the 2010 phantom of the opera but I can see Lila so clearly in her expressions that makes me want to punch her in the face. The way the snake dance has Kagami's seriousness and precision and Luka's edge and style. *chefs kiss*

Now on the note of Moulin Rouge for Adrienette, i feel like keysmashing is not enough i need to bark. The way the story of the performance is a parallel to their relationship AND andrien's condition. Part of me thought he was going to die. I lost cound how many times I cried while reading this and I wish I could have recorded the way i GASPED when they came in twelfth. Had me shaking and tearing up ngl.

The one thing i did not understand tho was why Marinette kept that Gabriel remade their costumes a secret. Like I get Adrien making his piece with the relationship with his bio father, and deciding not to pursue one with him anymore, but Marinette not telling him felt a little shady for me. Maybe I missed something, but I don't think that shutting that door was up to her. I like the ending for Gabriel and Adrien, but idk maybe i just don't like that Marinette kept it a secret from him.

Alright I think I've said enough for one ask holy shit look at the size of this so i'm gonna stop it here. I think I said everything I wanted to say, but if I remember anything else – and I'm still welcome in here –i'll come back to dump more unrequited opinions.

well it's nothing very original don't get your hopes up or anything BUT. basically it's mainly lmancrew (with a crimeboys focus) and tntduo centered and it's set in like a medieval-esque fictional setting like basically six of crows minus the magic. like i literally typed six of crows into pinterest to get good images those are the vibes

wilbur's captain of this ship called the l'manberg (ok no but i hesitated between naming the fish or their og town lmanburg but i ended up naming the ship that because i just think it's such a good ship name like . she/her in a boat way. does this make sense) and the crew is niki, jack, eret, fundy and tubbo (well obviously theres more people cause how would a ship Function but the rest of those are Unnamed background characters).

wilbur's also a pretty high ranked official like idk general or captain of the guard idk how the military works i would have to figure that out, but basically he's kinda famous and so's his ship. they aren't participating in a war it's more of like an explorer position because wilbur's known for being a brilliant cartographer and so the previous king just kinda appointed him to this new position to let him fuck off & do his own thing mapping the whole world with his crew. the issue is the old king died with no heir and replaced by his nephew (dream) who's much more controlling and power-hungry than he was and who doesn't want to waste money & resources on some bs like maps. this will create Conflict (im so good at narration guys. Help)

tommy's like a homeless orphan (as he alwyas is) and really needs a job and money and all that and he hears the l'manburg isn't at sea for once and wilbur & his crew are taking a rest at the capital for a couple days before sailing back off again. naturally he sneaks in, lives in the storage room for like a week or two, surviving off scraps of food . then tubbo stumbles across him and almost reports him, but tommy convinces him not to and so tubbo helps him for a couple days. then someone else finds him, and he's brought to the captain and they all threaten to throw the stowaway overboard (they wouldn't actually they're all kinda softies) and tommy's like pissing himself from how scared he is especially cause wilbur's like . this really famous general who's had books and songs written about him and shit (he doesn't know yet hes just an annoying pretentious prick (/lovingly)) so he's like Ohmygod im dead and then wilbur's like . "Can you cook" "erm no" "can you clean" "yeah ig" "Can you fight even somewhat decently" "yeah bitch me and my knives are the best they call me th-" "Ok you're hired" AND THUS tommy joins the crew

and so they keep on sailing with their mission yadda yadda and WHAM they encounter the most notorious pirate crew of the continent, named, you guessed it, las nevadas. and tommy's heard a lot of proper horror stories about them and he's terrified but the crew have fought them off a bunch of times before so they're mainly annoyed because they're gonna have to deal with the frankly disgustingly homoerotic rivalry that their captain and the pirate captain have been passionately engaging in for several years now. THATS RIGHT TNTDUO BABY oh they are so pathetic and so gay it's actually embarrassing they'll have like sword duels . wilbur's the uptight, bitchy, and somewhat pretentious general with perfectly styled hair and ornate coat always huffing and puffing and waxing poetry meanwhile quackity's the fuckin bad boy stereotype with like a half unbuttoned poet or blackshirt (slut) (wilbur cannot stop staring its embarrassing) and he's always hanging off ropes and shit and doing sick acrobatics and taunting wilbur GOD they're so. and yeah they have sword duels where all they do is "distract the opponent" in order to "efficiently win the battle" which is code for "practically make out while hurling insults at each other"

also crimeboys is like "in awe of the legendary general" "who is this child on my boat" >>> "oh my god the general's a prick" "oh my god the child's a demon" >>> "maybe he's not that bad but i would rather die and curse his entire family line than admit that" >>> "that is my brother i would die for him and if you lay a hand upon him you won't have hands anymore" (the funny thing is they both end up with that same level of protectiveness and making the same threats despite wilbur being a like Adult and high ranked official with power and influence and decades of training of elaborate swordsmanship behind him . and tommy is a stowaway fifteen year old orphan with three knives and teeth and a whole lot of anger . but they're both like "no i must protect and die for the other" im sorry i just love them ok theyre so stupid) i just LOVE crimeboys having to go through begrudging bonding instead of instantly being ride or die brothers GIVE ME TO MORE ENEMIES TO FRIENDS TO LOVERS anyway

speaking of wilbur like i said he's had books and songs written about him (his age is kind of a grey zone like on one hand he's pretty young for a general but he's also had time to become this like famous and mysterious figure so can't be Too young . so i think probably like 27-29? smth like that) and one of them was a legend about how he fell in love with a mermaid . yes she had red hair and teal scales and her name was sally BUT SHE'S STILL AN OCEAN MERMAID I KNOW SALMONS LIVE IN RIVERS anyway . also for little tntduo crumbs he's called quackity a siren multiple times (in his mind he's insulting him like "ooh you manipulate people" and everyone around him is like "that is the Gayest thing you could possibly have said") and quackity's like "didnt you date a mermaid" "yeah but sirens are like evil mermaids" "so you want to date me" and then wilbur stabs him

ALSO more about wilbur's character development (this is a bit spoilerish but also it's not like im ever writing this full fic so you're not exactly risking much but just be warned) he starts out like i said as this really uptight military official who started when he was really young and trained really hard and flew through the ranks really fast because he worked his ass off . And so he's Very protective of his rank & title & prestige not so much because he's snobbish but because he worked so hard for it but so it often comes across as him being this like pretentious fuck (well he's also pretentious but thats just wilbur) . also he originally dreamed of being a cartographer and he spent his whole childhood drawing up maps but then he realised he couldn't make a living out of that so he decided to work hard enough to be at the top and then do what he wanted. and so he wears like his tricorn hat with a feather and his ornate coat and neatly tucked in shirt and everything cause for him it's like Proof that he Did it yknow . but then as time goes by, especially in the presence of quackity (who's very antihero-esque and so does not give a shit about ranks or whatever he's a pirate he does his own thing) and also a bit tommy (who was literally dressed in rags until they clothed and fed him but still behaves like a street rat on the most famous ship of the country) he slowly loosens up and he ends up ditching the coat and the hat and instead wears more stuff like loose poet shirts (open because he's a slut) . and so yeah character development through clothing and whatnot

ok so YEAH those are the tidbits that were plaguing my mind the most but there's definitely a whole lot more in my head like ive got a pinterest board and shit

you know interesting comparing and contrasting the styles of companions in classic vs new who that i kind of wish they would attempt a more out there companion concept in new who aliens or historical characters or whatever but perhaps with the work towards giving companions more agency and their own stories the new who equivalent of someone like romana is like jack and river you know that it is a bit ridiculous she should functionally be the doctors equal but still fulfills a lot of the standard companion roles and so on but also that like jack and river were extremely popular and fun and i wonder what the dynamic would have been if they traveled a bit longer as a companion like sure they can fuck off any time they like but idk i do find it interesting this like necessity to some degree of the more normal i guess companion baseline idk what it all means but like claras out here with centuries of memories and identities and still has to just have like a regular contemporary life to ground her rather than committing to something a bit more weird and out there tho of course she eventually passes over that threshold and goes from the regular companion side to the river and jack side getting her own weird alien adventures in the end person who thinks about what victorian clara from the snowmen would have been like as a companion or if it would change much at all like would that mean much would it change the power balance if she truly did not want to go back to her regular time that obviously another part of the new companion dynamic is they do things and have lives when not with the doctor so obviously a contemporary human character has a whole life that feels real to the average viewer to go home to and gives something more tangible they want to get back to or can say i value this or have these responsibilities outside of you doctor part of giving companions a bit more agency would people bother or care about like random alien saying i must get back to my moon base my science experiments need me lol is the clara transition from traditional companion to doctor esque figure something that is only compelling because theres that baseline that a character like jack or river who can walk away anytime because they start as equals change that vibe too much to be a solo companion would a historical companion simply be like somethign kind of funny but fundamentally change nothing idk..

i have extensive brain soup about frontiers and idk if i can put it all into an order that makes sense so beware! but anyway it’s under the cut

so the gameplay rules. it’s so fun and the physics feel good and the world has a lot of little things to do! i was worried it’d feel really empty but so far that’s not the case i don’t think. the combat is great too, there’s a small skill tree for new combo finishers and things and i think it’s about the right size for my tastes. there’s shit to collect for upgrading sonic’s abilities and i think all those respawn so it’s not like you need to need to find the exact 999 Little Bitches to unlock all abilities or some shit haha. the cyber space stages aren’t as intrusive as i feared and so far they’ve been pretty fun to 100%! they’re like little puzzles themselves with you having to figure out the fastest way through the stages

there’s also minigames that are mostly silly and fun. and fishing. yakuza-style fishing. i fucking cackled when i saw sonic reel in the fucking fish it’s fantastic

as for the story, im not terribly far into it just yet but i finished the first island and it gave me plenty of thoughts. i was not into the koco fuckers initially because they felt like rip-off koroks and gave botw rip-off vibes but actually they’re pretty fucking amazing?? to say i lost my mind when i saw their, i guess it’s their soul?? and how it’s shaped like chaos 0? i am Obsessed and i need to know more it’s super fucking interesting. im also warming up to sage more now, she’s got some interesting shit going on and with how many small references they’ve been making to past games im lowkey hoping for some kind of relation to infinite, i mean their aesthetics are pretty similar? maybe there’s something there

honestly though the biggest braincell activation so far has been the characters and voice acting like goodness gracious i wasn’t sure how i felt about roger’s direction at first but it’s grown on me So Much and he’s really putting his all into sonic’s portrayal and im just. so fucking happy he gets to go all out in this game he’s putting so much character into this little hedgehog... and amy’s VA too! it’s not immediately obvious but as you go through the first island she starts putting more emotion into amy and it’s just. there’s real love in these characters they feel so alive. i love how they’ve been written in general, their dialogue feels so natural that it almost makes me do a double-take like im not used to it being this good lol. and the fishing minigame lets you trade in tokens for some in-game stuff including voice recordings from eggman and the delivery in those is ridiculously good?? and they’ve been referencing G.U.N. and locations from the genesis games?? im just. astonished about this level of detail it’s so so delightful to see

im seriously hoping sonic team sticks with this direction because i’ve been playing this game for only about 5 hours and im already wondering if it’s my new favorite once i have time to ruminate on it a bit

hello, i am so sorry for the late response to your question bc honestly i took some time to figure out how i picture everyone in my brain.

Basically it's sort of a combination of all three historical, cyberpunk, and their character designs. For historical i would use that for the royal family (like sapnap and schlatt as well as the staff) but for the Syndicate it's moreso cyberpunk. Like George's goggles are based on a cyberpunk masked i looked up on amazon.

However everyone's basic everyday clothes (except for sapnap and any of the royal family) is just their minecraft skins clothes.

The masked man is similar to the anime character Sniper Kamen but it's really up to anyone interpretation on how he looks.

Also its up to anyones imagination how everyone looks in Operation NotFound, i love how everyone imagines things differently in so really however you imagine it is perfect with me :]
