im gonna be completely honest when the manga ending first came out. i was defending isayama with my life. i didn't really like the ending, but that was my og, so i sucked it all up and tried to like it. but ive matured, and ive accepted that it wasn't the best ending in terms of actual writing.

reading the manga, it was actually so so good right up until the last chapter. all the chapters before the last one was honestly 10/10 in my opinion. would've been one of the best mangas ive read. i remember waiting months for the final chapter, and when it came out, my heart sank. i wanted to cry for all the wrong reasons.

ill list all the reasons why i didn't think it was a good ending under the cut and you can read them if you want but i just wanna say i am absolutely NOT shitting on anyone that enjoys the ending or isayama or anything. im actually really glad you like it, and it's all personal opinions/ preferences anyway.

plus he's apparently releasing chapter 140?? so we'll see what isayama does with that.

I don't hate it because Eren died or because Mikasa was the one to kill him. I actually quite liked this aspect, and it feels very fitting. The same goes with Armin and Eren's talk. I love that we got to see more of their differing views and opinions on freedom. But there's a lot of other things I disliked.

Eren for some reason, turned into a whiny baby, not wanting mikasa to move on. Like we all knew that he loved her since the very beginning and its so so obvious. But instead of showing that in a meaningful way, he's like, NOOO SHE CAN'T MOVE ON !!!!!! like bro cmon now you're grown

Reiner's character regressed last minute, and it completely ruined his development. Like, I know it's been three years, but why is he thirsting over historia and sniffing the letter she wrote. We literally saw him shove a gun in his mouth, wanting to kill himself and suffer from extreme PSTD. It feels like isayama wanted it to end on a lighter note even though his protagonist was killed. And he did it at the expense of other characters. All the love I had for reiner lowkey went away when I saw him do that.

Jean and Mikasa getting together. It's heavily implied that she never got over him and is even buried in the scarf he wrapped around her. And it doesn't sit well with me that she got with Jean, knowing he's second to a dead guy. I wouldn't have minded them being together if the circumstances were different. Mikasa healed and moved on, or her and Jean got closer and bonded over their trauma and everything they lost. But she clearly didn't move on from Eren, and I personally think Jean deserved better than that.

Annie basically getting off scot-free, and her getting with Armin. I'm not gonna explain this one too much, but out of all the traitors, she's the only one that had no/little remorse. And the fact that she got with Armin just rubs me the wrong way. I respect the hustle, but I wanted her dad to die or something she needed to suffer a little more.

Historia ends up with a man (like bffr now cmon). This one's pretty self-explanatory, but you're telling me she seriously got pregnant and settled down with a man? I read fan theories/predictions at the time that were 100000× better than what isayama did to her.

Everyone's characters just went back to their season 1 version, and I hate it. They suffered so so much went through such tragedy but came out relatively mentally unscathed? I feel like the only person who's truly suffering the effects of it, mentally and physically, was Levi. I did really like Levi's ending, though. It was tragic but fitting. And the fact that he's with Gabi as well I really liked that.

It wasn't a bad ending, but it wasn't a good ending either. I liked about 40% of it, but that's about it. It's been nearly 3 years since I've seen the ending, though, and this is just from memory, and I've tried to be as brief as possible.

If I revisited it, there could be more things that I like/dislike. idkk. I also haven't watched past half of season 4 part 1 of the anime, so if anything changed in the anime ending, I'm not too sure about that. i'm speaking purely from the manga ending.

Marek isn't from Megapolis [because I'm middle eastern so now she is too <3], he's not actually sure where he's from- all she remembers is arriving to the city as a teenager with something or someone urging her along and taking care of her .

This someone turns out to be a spirit- wolf spirit specifically, from thousands of years back into Marek's ancestry. He doesn't remember much either, only that he was called upon to the mortal realm to find a child, abandoned and crying, and he had to help. [Their ancestry and the spirit's origins are explored later on in s4 I'd saayy??]

The spirit starts out much more hazy, and is usually only summoned by Marek when he feels threatened- the spirit then takes over Marek's body, causing Marek's scar to glow, and her body to take on a more wolfish form :3

During the LBD arc, LBD tries to possess Marek as a way to get to Mei, but with Marek's body already holding two souls in one vessel, it overwhelms her and her consciousness is locked away, unable to be reached by even the spirit. The spirit fights off LBD's possession, but now he's in complete control of the body while Marek's soul remains imprisoned with LBD.

Uhh I haven't yet figured out how the spirit gains his own body but . It happens Somehow after LBD's defeat. Let's say main character bullshit <3 and he starts living his life outside of Marek- which allows them both to develop without the other! Starts out pretty rough but they get there :3

Also Mei and Marek's ship name is grapefruit :3!! Ik grapefruit isn't purple but shshsh it's ok im keeping Mei's fruit theme going with her duo/ship names. They both lowk start out horrible 4 each other because the way Mei and Marek talk about themselves only further perpetuates their unhealthy expectations of themselves- "if she's viewing herself in this way, and I think she's right about everything and pretty well-adjusted, then this way of thinking is obviously healthy!" type of deal

Blaze yet to decide on the spirit's name + who he's gonna date but . We'll get to that when we do proper ref sheets for them both :3 agahxhxh thank you sm for the ask im sorry this got so long TwT!! I think that's enough 4 now- you can ask any more questions if you'd like!!

So I have recently been doing flower associations/analysis/whatever these should be called for another fandom, and wanted to do this for a few other people. So now we have Sun Wukong! I will say this is going to be influenced by the Lego Monkey Kid version, but I am building off of JTTW too.

For the Great Sage I believe the best flowers are Marigolds, Hyacinth, Peach Blossoms, and this one is a bit of stretch but Bird of Paradise.

These flowers all have multiple meanings, some changing based on color. I will be picking the meanings for those based on what feels like the best fit for Wukong.

First up Marigolds. A beautiful yellow flower that is sometimes called the Herb of the Sun, which Wukong was compared to the sun in LMK. Marigolds symbolize Power/Strength, Chasing Away Evil Spirits, and Brings Positive Energy.

Wukong is obviously one of the strongest people we see in any medium involving him. He bested countless deities, demons, and more. Wukong also has several different abilities/powers, too many to honestly probably keep up with. He chased away demons during the journey from his fellow pilgrims, ran off hunters from his mountain, and more. His ability to see through illusions could potentially be an evidence point towards chasing out evil spirits, since he can identify a threat despite it's disguises and trickery. Wukong, at least in the LMK show, admits to playing a fool at times. He acts foolish and like a jokester to bring levity to situations and more positive emotions to the people he's with, even if it doesn't always land.

Marigolds do also have negative connotations as well. They symbolize Grief, Despair, and Mourning.

Wukong has lost a lot of people in his life. He lost the other monkeys from his mountain, likely the other demon kings minus DBK since they don't show up again, and his fellow pilgrims. Grief accompanies loss easily, and despair may be a stretch, but it is also a common feeling for a loss. I don't think it's a stretch to say he mourns. We see in the LMK show that he made a small shrine with origami figures of his friends/brothers from the journey for the New Year Fireworks.

Next Hyacinths! Hyacinths have multiple means depending on the color, but also often the connotation of tragedy. As a whole, they can depict Rashness, while Purple Hyacinths represent Forgiveness, and like most purple flowers, Royalty.

Wukong could be at times rash, but he did grow from it. Wukong took on the name "Handsome Monkey King" and was king of his fellow monkey demons on Flower Fruit Mountain. Part of the Wukong's story in the JTTW is learning compassion, which can lead to forgiveness. Some versions of the story have Wukong releasing the hunters that attacked his home rather than killing them, which could be interpreted as forgiveness. I think we have some of that in LMK with his willingness to work with DBK, if that's maybe a bit of speculation.

Red Hyacinths represent Recreation and Playfulness. Pink Hyacinths similarly mean Joy and Fresh Starts.

Monkeys are noted in JTTW as being somewhat mischievous and very active. Part of Wukong's introduction is even mentioning how he and his friends would play in their home. Wukong is a very happy and 'bouncy' demon. Getting so excited he jumps around and can no longer sit still when he realizes he's going to learn from his first master. Wukong also gets a fresh start so to speak after being released from the mountain to travel with Tang Sanzang.

The next flower is perhaps a little on the nose, but Peach Blossoms! The blossoms that turn into one of Wukong's favorite foods, Peaches! Peach Blossoms represent Longevity.

Wukong became a Guardian of the Heavenly Peach Garden, and some of the peaches of this garden grant immortality to whomever eat them. Wukong, while already immortal at this point, does eat all types of the peaches grown in the garden. He also drinks the heavenly wine, and takes the longevity pills, so he very easily has a long life.

Peach Blossoms also symbolize Protection against Misfortune/Bad Luck and Luck.

I've already touched on Wukong's connection to warding off evil with Marigolds,and I don't want to reiterate too much. Wukong does help bring in luck as well, though. There are plenty of stories where he and his fellow pilgrims bring change to villages, and people with the defeat of some the demons they face. We even see in LMK Wukong fighting off DBK, and protecting a village which leads to a long time of prosperity. One would consider that quite lucky, I would think.

Our final flower may be a bit of a stretch but I think it fits the Monkey King pretty well, the Bird of Paradise.

The Bird of Paradise is very lovely and unique looking flower that are pollinated by sunbirds. They get their name for looking like a bird in flight, and symbolize Glamor and Joy.

Like the misfortune I don't to linger on something I've already looked at once but it's included because I think it just solidifies the connection between the flower choice and Wukong. Now, glamor can mean both magic or to make certain things more appealing/attractive. One of Wukong's titles is "The Handsome Monkey King". Though I'd like to focus more on the magic aspect of glamor. Wukong does have the ability to make himself appear as other people or creatures, and as stated earlier, he has several abilities that he has access too including magic.

The Bird of Paradise also symbolizes Freedom.

Like I said the flower looks like a bird in flight, which would lend itself to looking like freedom. Part of Wukong going with Tang Sanzang was for freedom from his punishment, but I think Wukong is also just a free spirt as well. He's playful, he seems to like to travel, and in LMK he seems to like thinking outside the box. He also flies with his cloud, and can turn into a bird and I've seen many, many connections between feelings of freedom being related to flight. I also think a young Monkey King had plenty of freedom on Flower Fruit Mountain.

Sun Wukong is a very complex character, in any iteration, with many layers and possible interpretations to his acts. His story had many ups and downs, similar to any story relating to some that would be/is labeled a hero. There are probably more flowers that can easily be associated with Wukong or that just fit different aspects that I didn't touch on in this. I think these four flowers hit a lot of points, both individually and together.

I am a ciswoman who just realized the other day that apparently my happy trail is "unusual." | just kinda assumed most people had one, uh, turns out not!

I also get a lot of facial hair. One of my friends mentioned my "mutton chops" since I hadn't shaved in a few days. I asked a few people how often they shaved their face and they were like....every now and then? And apparently not on the chin or sideburns.

+ I assumed one of my other afab friends always shaved their leg hair. Nope. Turns out it just doesn't grow very long on them. I have slowly realized my definition of “unshaved” looks very different from my friends.

Turns out, gender sterotypes often have ✨ exceptions ✨. Not all people in one group are a monolith! Sometimes, amab people (my ex, for example) naturally have less hair than some afab people! Like how short kings exist (love yall).

I was insecure about it a few yrs ago, but the right people find it attractive. I spent a lot of time wondering if I had some hormonal imbalance, which, I might. But it’s not really causing me issues. AND plenty of ciswoman & afab non-T taking people can have 1. Body/facial hair and 2. Be completely typical & healthy!

The facial hair popped up when I was like 12. It made me feel like less of a woman (i did get teased for that. Because middle school) and messed with my head a bit. Everytime i try to explain it to my friends, they say then clearly im enby/trans in some way. But I think its more that my body doesn’t perfectly align w societys presentation of women, so it creates some uncomfortable dissonance…but in the direction of being a woman. Gender complicated 😅

Na'vi Children with humans

Hellooooo, so I have done a poly, then a single two pair, now I was thinking what other's I could do. So then, I thought of the children. Now for this I will admit, I did pull ideas from other fellow tumblr users. I will tag them by the end of the list. As well as the other two previous headcanons that I did in case you are all interested. If you would like to use this list for inspiration or use it in your fics, I don't mind, but please credit me. Now that's out of the way, LETS GO!

Na'vi children I would say, would live as normal as na'vi life can be, be it hybrid, or full bloodied, despite having a human for a parent.

I can imagine them be really close to their human parent, enjoy the facial expressions, soft warmth the human provides, and since their Na'vi parent is always busy, they have their human parent to enjoy and have fun time with.

The human parent would tell human children stories, sing classical nursery songs, and possibly games they grew up with.

If the human were to explore or doing something around the village, the Na'vi children would obviously follow them very closely, and simply being happy being near their smaller parent.

I can see the na'vi kids being jealous of just about anyone. Be it their other parent or other kids taking their human parent attention away from them. Might hiss or yell in frustration.

If they could, they would cling on to them for the rest of their lives.

Of course would spend every minute with not just their human parent but as well as their na'vi parent. Spending family time together.

If the Na'vi children were to have human features, should they feel a bit insecure about their oddities, their human parent would support and uplift their confidence. Telling them its another addition of them simply being unique.

When growing up and doing their Iknimaya, the Na'vi children would no doubt feel pressured in some way to perfect their skills, be it in hunting or healing, or in some other way, their worries will always be there.

While yes their Na'vi parent will always be their to support them, the human parent is more like a support that Na'vi kids seek.

Refuse to do their duties without a loving kiss and hug from their human parent. Tends to be physically affectionate with their human parent.

Saying anything bad about their human parent, both Na'vi child and mate would pounce and silence those who speak ill of their human.

As the Na'vi kids get older and taller, easily over towering their human parent, they will share the same instinct as their na'vi parent to protect their human parent as they are smaller and can easily hurt themselves.

The Na'vi parent would absolutely tell how their kids how to fight back others if other na'vi they hurt their human parent, and how to protect them should the Na'vi parent not be there.

No matter how old the Na'vi kids are, even if they are now adults, they will still seek out their human parent, if the now grown up Na'vi have kids of their own, the human parent, now grandparent, would be there for the new generation until their time ends.

hey idk if you would be able to answer this but thought I would put it out there. so I have eds and THOUGHT i was having allergic reactions but a skin test at an allergist said i have literally 0 true allergies. is histamine intolerance similar to moderate allergic reactions? Ive been through most of your health tags and done research but cant really find any forward answers. its all MAY or MAY NOT

Unfortunately, you’re not finding any straightforward answers because allergies and non-IgE-mediated allergic reactions are poorly understood, even by some allergists. (usually the gaslighty kind 🙃)

It is entirely possible to test negative for allergic reactions for things you are absolutely having allergic reactions to.

This is because allergy tests focus ONLY on “true” IgE allergies and do not take into account that there are other underlying mechanisms that can cause mast cells to degranulate, which is what happens when you have an allergic reaction.

In an IgE reaction, the cells become unstable, releasing various hormones/chemical responses, which is what we know as annoying allergic reactions in minor cases, and anaphylaxis is severe responses.

In a functional immune system, these chemicals should really only be released in response to a true IgE allergy.

When your immune system is a little over-reactive, they can release in response to stress (this is what causes stress hives, and we now think some cases of IBS) and sometimes things like viral illnesses. This is why so many people have developed MCAS or MCAS-like symptoms after having covid. (mask up, besties)

Sometimes, however, the “off” switch in the immune system gets broken, and the mast cells become increasingly over-reactive, and that's when you can start developing new or seemingly random allergies that are inconsistent and don't show up on IgE allergen test panels. It’s why you’ll sometimes see the term “idiopathic anaphylaxis” in people who have anaphylaxis that can’t be explained. Well, the explanation is wonky mast cells. Why are they wonky? We’re not really sure.

Perhaps if the medical world hadn’t ignored its existence for ten+ years and focused so much on gaslighting patients until a mass pandemic hit, we would.

This type of mast cell degranulation, triggered by a non-IgE-mediated reaction, is common in histamine intolerance and mast cell activation syndrome, which can also be comorbid with EDS.

So are you reacting to things not showing up on an allergy test? Quite possibly, and your EDS makes it more likely.

Unfortunately, the testing for both is a crapshoot and are actually intended for mastocytosis. This is not to say you shouldn’t ask for a tryptase test (the 24-hour urine test is far more accurate than the blood test); I just mention it because it is entirely possible to have HIT/MCAS and still test negative for elevated levels of tryptase.

Until better testing methods are available, HIT and MCAS-aware doctors will now often diagnose based on patient history and response to mast cell stabilizers.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of salty text, I hope some of it is helpful to you! Best of luck with figuring everything out!

The rise of aesthetics as a whole has ruined how people consume and enjoy things and it’s gotten to the point where people mindlessly use a slur for their clothing style.

I also don’t understand why it’s so hard for (especially western) people to stop using the word Jirai, if y’all are against using slurs like the r-word or n-word (which you should!) then why aren’t you against using Jirai? Just because Japanese girls use it for themselves? Most of the time that’s not even the case and you are the ones calling them Jirai girls because of their style. The tag is literally overflown with white women or fashion influencers. And even if a Japanese girl calls herself a Jirai, that would be the same category as black people calling each other the n-word. Its not your word to use since it doesn’t get used against you and it doesn’t involve you, no matter how much you think it does. You don’t get called Jirai by other people and get looked down upon for being mentally ill in a Japanese society that has the highest suicide rate. It’s not for westerners to decide what they are allowed to use or not. Idk why everyone is so obsessed with using whatever word they want as soon as it’s connected to Japan. The word doesn’t belong to westerners and they shouldn’t use it. Point blank period! Is it so hard to not call yourself a slur? Just because y’all want clicks on instagram and feel like you belong to a group? It’s disgusting. Nothing else. Use the BPD tag or Menhera tag for all I know. But don’t use a slur.

And I swear if I see one more person say girly kei isn’t a thing is gonna have to fight with me…the fashion has been called that for ages and just because some stupid YouTuber and afterwards fashion magazine decided to connect it to a slur everyone thinks it’s ok to use it? Pure insanity.…same goes for a bunch of famous western „Jirai influencer“ (Jesus that word alone makes me sick, imagine profiting from mentally ill people) shaming or trying to remove mentally ill girls from Jirai just because it makes them uncomfortable. It’s insanely annoying to see how many westerners are trying to erase Japanese people from the conversation and origin of Jirai just because „i want my silly little clothes and aesthetic that have a dark origin but I’m not like these people so please pay attention to me and give me clicks and likes but don’t associate me with these disgusting people thehe“

Figured it might be neat to give post-mortems of fics I’ve written (in no particular order)

Gonna call this Quantum’s Post-Moretem Mondays even though I’m almost certain I’m never going to post this again on a Monday (work was just suuuuper slow)

So to start off we’ve got Pen Pals: https://archiveofourown.org/works/51609454

Premise: in early 2010 Taylor and Sveta become pen pals (hence the name).

Very much the definition of a rarepair since there’s only one other Taylor/Sveta fic that I’m aware of and it’s not even tagged.

And honestly hot take: the reason it’s a rarepair is that it lowkey just does not work as a ship. Taylor and Sveta are just not compatible, Taylor is far too… her. Sveta deserves better honestly.

What I like about the fic:

The bits of humour always blindside me when I do a reread. This one definitely leans on the sort of online humour you sometimes get with lesbians. Particularly the meme of two girls commiserating you each other that they “wish they could get a gf frfr”

I also just stole some funny bits from worm and adapted them but idk if I should count those bc they were just yoinked from worm.

I’m pretty proud of the background plot that’s happening in the fic. It’s pretty fun to explore those through only the lens of texts between two people. Things diverge a little bit and we end up with Echidna happening early, but the fight goes a lot differently. Ends up being a much longer fight/conflict but upside is case 53 stuff didn’t get leaked. Taylor eventually ended it by tag-teaming with a few heroes, getting the right power combo. S9 shows up after and a while after they’re there Amy takes Victoria. Taylor, thinking the s9 did it went on the warpath, she broke into the prt hq and stole the Bakuda bombs which she used to take out a few members before she found Amy and Victoria, made Amy fix her, then just fully executed her.

What I don’t like:

Taylor is extremely out of character. She’s too like… it’s hard to explain but she’s too cutesy, or dorky in a way that doesn’t really fit with how she is in canon. Triple especially anytime they’re discussing feelings. Honestly the only parts of her that feels in character is latter on in the fic when it starts getting into the broader hero plot stuff.

Sveta is also pretty ooc but not quite as bad as Taylor. She’s a hard character to write because while yea she’s got a lot going on at the end of the day she’s just a really nice person and that’s hard to write out unless you want something super fluffy.

And speaking of: the fic is just way too fluffy for my tastes these days. Like I had to skim the final scene where they’re being all sappy and confessional bc it made me feel ill lmao.

What I would do if I were to redo/re-explore:

Honestly this might be one of my few fics where I’d just cop it and say that it kinda doesn’t work conceptually. Taylor and Sveta just aren’t really compatible without changing one or the other.

Honestly if I were returning to it I’d probably drop Sveta (sorry) and actually just focus on the Brockton Bay plot stuff. So it’d be Taylor joining the wards, getting frustrated and then leaving and teaming up w Victoria and the focus is more in them becoming friends. And the other changes with Echidna and the s9 could be fun to explore.

Or alternatively I keep Sveta and lean into the doomed nature of the relationship, have it be a much more deep exploration of their characters and how they could interact. Follow Sveta as she makes an online friend but slowly realise that this friend of hers is weirdly violent as a cape. Have that introduce a lot more friction with Sveta judging Taylors methods more and more and Taylor just getting really defensive etc. and like…. It wouldn’t even need to have a bad ending per se. It would just be them realising that they’re really not compatible and that getting this invested in each other was a bad idea. Or the super good ending where Sveta comes around to Taylor’s way of thinking and they wage bloody war against evil, that could also be p fun. And not entirely impossible especially if Taylor is literally Svetas only friend.

Final thoughts:

This is one of those fics that still gets the odd random comment on ao3 which makes me remember it more often than other fics despite the fact that I don’t really have much to say/think about the fic beyond what I’ve already thrown up. It sits in my mind as a firm “basically ok, has its moments”

Curious to know what others think of it because honestly I barely do. I think I just picked it bc it was one of my shorter fics and sfw so I could read it between waiting for stuff to happen at work.

idk what to put in the tags for this one ngl SO SAYING IT HERE: sensitive content warning for mentions of csa and discussion around illicit materials. if anyone wants to shoot me a message with actual tags i should put on this, please do!! would rather be safe than sorry here but i never use this app smh. so it's a complex subject for sure but i don't think he's guilty based on what i've seen and read. his autobiography touches on this a lot, with the discussion ranging him from being a csa victim himself to attempting to go vigilante mode when he was doing a google search to donate to a russian orphanage (i think it was cuz one of his friends was involved in some kind of charity) and stumbled across a horrible site. what he did with putting his card into a site after that as part of his research or whatever was so incredibly stupid of him, and he def knows it now. and while you can go "yea that's his autobiography of course he wouldn't say anything", there was no evidence found of him possessing anything and there has been no pattern of him doing it before or attempting it again as far as i know. he's a celebrity and they would have absolutely cracked down on him to make an example of him if they could have, but pete stuck to his story and was also backed by daltrey 100% (which is huge considering their rocky relationship but i digress). on top of no one else coming out with anything to really incriminate pete, there is nothing to really prove anything. it's a super awful and suspicious sounding case, but i don't believe he's actually all of that. plus i doubt he would found a charity like double 'o' if he did not genuinely have compassion for victims. there are people who have done a lot worse in the classic rock sphere with actual evidence against them also, so i really do not think he is this deplorable individual. knowing pete's track record and personality, he did something stupid and ill-advised but had his heart in the right place. silly ol me on tumblr isn't the best source though so feel free to look into things on your own as well!! the info is out there, and i encourage you all to do your own research if you're comfortable with it for sure
