#if you already own chapter 1 from a previous promo
Text
In June, Tell Me Why is free on steam. It's the only "big game" I can think of with a transgender protagonist.
Twins Tyler and Alison return to their small town in Alaska to clear out and sell their childhood home. In doing so, they realize that some memories of their past don't add up, and they set out to figure out what truly happened the night their mother died.
Gameplay is similar to Life is Strange, being from the same developers and all. Which in this case means, lots of walking around, lots of talking, rather slow gameplay, and a slightly supernatural gimmick for the protagonists.
When I played it, I found the graphics really pretty, didn't run into any bugs, and completed the game with all achievements in about 16 hours. It contains lots of dark topics in the past they discover, including violence and death, but the ending is always hopeful.
You can find the game's FAQ on the official website, which answers (with spoilers, obviously) how some sensitive topics are handled, if you are concerned.
(I would suggest staying away from the discussion boards and probably reviews. It's mostly negativity, transphobia, and jokes about the Backstreet Boys that were old the first time they came up.)

Prince With Benefits: Chapter 1
Pairing: Finn Balor X OFC (Ciara)
Word Count: 849
Warnings: Mature to explicit as the story goes on.
Description: After moving to the USA from England to start her career as an NXT superstar, Ciara gets to meet her long time crush, NXT champion Finn Balor. It's clear the pair have chemistry, but when tensions start to rise, will they find they want more than a no strings attached relationship?
A/n: So this is the first piece of fanfic I have written literally ever. I will be posting them here periodically, but I already have 6 chapters out on my Wattpad, AO3 and FanFiction pages.
This series will involve romance, drama and (although it will take a little while) some smutt too. Hope you enjoy it! 😊
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: The Tour
"You'll be making your debut in 3 weeks. That should give us plenty of time to develop a story for your character, and highlight anything you need to work on. Moves, promos, that kind of thing."
Paul looked at me, seemingly expecting some form of reply, but in all honesty I was still struggling to believe that I was even here at all.
"Did you have any ideas about your gimmick?" he looked back down through my file as I snapped out of my haze.
"Yes actually," I responded "I made a few notes and I was hoping to spitball some of them with you."
He looked up from his paper and stared at me. He appeared half way between surprised and impressed. Most new superstars don't have the confidence to pitch their own ideas and just let WWE's creative team do whatever they think is best.
"Well okay!" he smiled "Let's hear them!"
We spent about 20 minutes looking over my notes. Paul made a few scribbles, circled ideas he was particularly fond of, and eventually we had something we were very happy with.
One thing I was adamant about was staying true to myself. I had no intentions of pretending to be someone I'm not, so we went with an alternative aesthetic I'd based on my D&D character. It was... Different. Hopefully different enough to stand out.
Paul led me out of the small meeting room we were in, taking me on a tour of my home for the foreseeable future, the WWE Performance Center.
* * * *
He led me through the lobby pointing out various board rooms along the way, as well as some language classrooms they used for international talent. The corridors were lined with display cases with in-ring gear from previous NXT superstars.
"This is the green screen studio," Paul informed me, directing me into a small room with several cameras, monitors and a green screen, "you can practice character work here, work on your promo skills and the great thing is, you can watch it back immediately," he pointed to the monitors.
Above one of the monitors was a puppet of the late Dusty Rhodes. He had a lot of influence on most of the NXT talent so it makes perfect sense he'd be here watching over them. I smiled solemnly and stared at my feet.
"There's usually a trainer in here who can give you feedback but we sometimes get groups of superstars in here. It's a good learning experience"
He led me down a few more corridors, pointing out more WWE relics along the way.
"This is the medical room. It's used by  NXT, Raw and Smackdown superstars. Hopefully you won't need to spend any time here, but if you do, we have some of the best medical experts and equipment in the business."
It was all very impressive. Every inch of the Performance Center had been designed with convenience in mind. Say what you like about WWE but this place was undoubtedly the best place to train.
"This is the training room. You'll be spending a lot of time here."
I stared in awe at the large room housing 7 rings for practicing, as well as one TV ring, complete with stage lighting, entrance, ramp and broadcast ready cameras. At the back of the room, two rings were used to practice upcoming matches.
Some of the people training here must have been new starters as I only recognised a few people. Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai were practicing a few spots, Scott Garland (or Scott 2 Hotty to his fans) was having some newbies run the ropes, and Damien Priest was having a match with Johnny Gargano as several superstars and trainers watched.
As Paul led me out of the room, I struggled to pull my gaze away. It was all so fascinating to me.
"And for the final stop, the pride and joy of the Performance Center, our state of the art Strength and Conditioning Gym."
He opened the doors leading to the gym. I examined every inch of the room, not wanting to miss any details. They had equipment here I never even knew existed, as well as the usual offenders; treadmill, cross trainer, bikes etc...
And then I stopped scanning, my gaze now fixed upon one very specific piece of equipment.
"Most superstars exercise here once a day before heading to the training room, but you'll find a routine that works for you," Paul tried to inform me, but my attentions were focused elsewhere.
There, suspended from the gymnastic hoops, was the glistening, sculpted  body of the man of my dreams.
****
Authors Note: So you may have guessed but my writing style is kind of slow burning. I like a lot of description to really emerse myself in the environment. This chapter especially as it's the first one. Future chapters will focus more on Finn I promise! I'm still learning, so if I'm going over the top and you want me to tone it down, please let me know and I'll work on it. Thanks for reading!

Arrowverse Update 2021:
I am doing one more of those before the new Seasons are rolling in, because we got major news about one project and some more bits about everything else, so… let’s start with the bad news and then continue with the rest:
Tumblr media
 Green Arrow and the Canaries
Is officially dead. It is currently unknown if and how we are going to get a resolution of the cliffhangar from the Backdoor-Pilot and its other open plot-threads. Yes, we were promised that all of this would get resolved somwhere else, if the show would not get picked up, however that was one year ago. Since then a lot has changed.
The main problem is that the project was just buried a couple of days ago, meaning that there is no chance for anything of this to be resolved in this TV-Season, which is already completly planned through for all the Arrowverse-Shows (and even half filmed already in some cases). The other problem is that a good portion of the people responsible for „Green Arrow and the Canaries“ is not a part of the current Arrwoverse anylonger. Yes, Marc Guggenheim could come back just to do a Crossover that resolves all that is still open, but why would The CW want its next Crossover Event to revolve around a never picked up show? There would have to be something else in that Crossover Event, provided one of those could even happen any time soon. As for doing just a singular episode the problem is where. The shows with ties to „Green Arrow and the Canaries“ might not be around any more or be in their final season by the time such an episode could be made, and all of the shows might again get shortened seasons, so the producers are going to have other priorties for their own shows in the next year.
So we might not get a resolution to „Green Arrow and the Canaries“ at all. On Televison that is. There is the alternate route though: A Comic Continuation.
As of now however it’s way to early to know anything for sure though. They are looking into it, but as I said, things are a lot more complicated right now, then they were a year ago.
youtube
Batwoman
Season two is rolling around in a few days, therefor they released a new accurate synopsis and The CW has been and is still putting out a lot of promo material. You can watch most of it on Youtube.
A couple of days after I wrote my last one of these, it was reported that Christina Wolfe will be part of the main cast this season. In other news, we also were told that we will get yet another version of Victor Zsasz. The Arrowverse-Version will be played by Alex Morf.
Also David Ramsey will guest star as John Diggle and also direct an episode (but probably not the same one). And yes, this might be the Crossover Episode. However is has to be said that is has become awfully quite around that illusive „Batwoman“/“Superman&Lois“-Crossover. Given the news about David Ramsey being in all shows, it might have been replaced by a Diggle-Storyline that goes through all the shows including „Batwoman“. We will have to wait and see.
The Season opener will go into Kate Kane’s fate (without her being in it though) and Gotham will have to confront the False Face Society and new drug called Snakebite in the opening episodes. The tone of the new Season might be drastically different from before, there are hints for that, and I am not speaking about BLM instead of LGBT-issues. The words „goofy“ and „fun“ are kind of present, if you know what I mean, however this could just be promotion.
 As for the episodes:
2.01 „Whatever happend to Kate Kane?“ (Directed by: Holly Dale, Written by: Caroline Dries, Airdate: January 17 2021)
2.02 „Prior Criminal History“ (Written by: James Stoteraux & Chad Fiveash)
 2.03 „Bat Girl Magic“
2.04 „Fair Skin, Blue Eyes“ (Directed by: Menhaj Huda, Written by: Ebony Gilbert)
 2.05 „Gore on Canvas“
Tumblr media
Black Lightning
Everyone is still very tighlipped about the final Season of „Black Lightning“. So I have nothing new, apart from titles (which are in line with the previous seasons and therefore not telling us anything, if we are honest):
4.01 „The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One“ (Airdate: February 8 2021)
4.02 „The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter Two“
4.03. „The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter Three“
4.04 „The Book of Reconstrucion: Chapter Four“
4.05 „The Book of Ruin: Chapter One“
 4.06.
 4.07 „Painkiller“-Backdoorpilot
Tumblr media
The Flash
So, yes, someone on the Production Team was tested posivite, and they had to shut down the production for a short period of time because of this, but it remained a pretty isolated case (or so it seems) and the production did resume. To make up for the lost time the Christmas Break was shortend, and they are back to filming already, so no need to worry, everthing is on schedule.
This season will see the return of John Diggle to Central City. David Ramsey will also direct an episode (but probably not the same one). We will also see the return of the Meta-Human Task Force, which will clash with Frost. This storyline will also involve Joe. Eric Wallace has hinted before that there will be a storyline involving the police and abuse of power with Joe in it, and I did assume it would be BLM-storyline, however this is „The Flash“, so this storyline might be what he talked about instead, and we might get a Meta-Human are being hunted and abused-Storyline as a substiute.
As for the first couple of episodes:
7.01 „All’s Wells that Ends Wells“ (Airdate: Feburary 23 2021)
 7.02. „The Speed of Thought“ (Airdate: March 2 2021)
 7.03 „Mother“ (Airdate: March 9 2021)
 7.04 „Central City Strong“( Airdate: March 16 2021)
 7.05 „Fear Me“ (Airdate: March 23 2021)
youtube
Superman & Lois
The new Morgan Edge is in and it will be Adam Rayner, who will inherit the role from Adrian Pasdar. We also learned that Joselyn Picard will play the other Cushing-Lang-Daughter Sophie. Reporters we will get to meet on the show not only include Ron Troupe but also Chrissy Beppp played by Sofia Hasmik, while Leslie Larr played by Stacey Farber will be a cold former idealist, probably tied to Morgan Edge, and presumable an antagonist.
David Ramsey will guest star as John Diggle somewhen this season and will direct an episode as well. He will make his way through most of the shows (as Diggle) and might be the Crossover-Factor of this season. Even though the „Batwoman“/“Superman & Lois“-Crossover is not officially of the table, we haven’t heard anything about it in a while, so maybe this actually is it.
We got a proper look at the new suit and also the first real trailer, which is … unusal. More artsy then revealing, but is around one and a half months until the season starts, so there will be another trailer coming out soon.
 The first couple of episodes:
1.01  Pilot (Directed by: Lee Toland Krieger, Written by: Greg Berlanti, Todd Helbing, Airdate: February 23 2021)
 1.02  „Heritage“ (Airdate: March 2 2021)
 1.03  „The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower“ (Airdate: March 9 2021)
1.04. „Haywire“ (Directed by: James Bamford, Airdate: March 16 2021)
 1.05 „The Beacon“ (Airdate: March 23 2021)
Tumblr media
Legends of Tomorrow
Aliyah O’Brien will guest star as Kayla a fearsome deadly alien warrior in this season, who won’t be to happy about the Legends, because she is a pro, and they are …. well … the Legends. David Ramsey will also guest star this season, however he won’t be playing John Diggle, but another role instead. Who or what this other role will be remains a mystery. He could play Diggles ancenstor or descendant, if time travel is still an element in Season 6, or a shape shifting alien or an illusion, however they could also go full prosthetics and have him playing a character with no connection to Diggle at all.
David Ramsey will also direct an episode this season. Caity Lotz did already direct an episode, Episode 5, and given that she tweeted about the strain of directing and acting at the same time, we will see more of Sara in this episode than in last year‘s „Mortal Khanbat“. However still expect less Sara in Episode 4 and 5 than usual.
There was an early air-date floating around for „Legends“, which proofed to be a mix-up. Don‘t expect Season 6 (or any mid-season replacement for that matter) before the end of May, and even that would be early.
 As for the episodes:
6.01 „ Ground Control to Sara Lance“ (Directed by: Kevin Mock, Written by: James Eagan & Mark Bruner)
6.02 „Meat: The Legends“ (Directed by: Rachel Talalay, Written by: Matthew Maala & Morgan Faust)
6.03 „The Ex-Factor“ (Directed by: David Geddes, Written by: Grainne Godfree  & Tyron Carter)
6.04 „Bay of Squids“ (Directed by: Sudz Sutherland, Written by: Phil Klemmer)
6.05 „The Satanist’s Apprentice“ (Directed by. Caity Lotz, Written by: Keto Shimizu, & Ray Utarnachitt)
6.06 „Bishop’s Gambit“ (Directed by: Kevin Mock, Written by: James Eagan & Emily Cheever)
Tumblr media
Supergirl
Here we are again, with crumbs only. I still can’t tell you anything with value that happens this season. A couple of casting tapes leaked, one involving a prison break plot, however there is no telling if this isn’t just a single scene that leads to something totally different or the beginning of an actual sub-plot. We do know however that Young Alex and Young Kara will make their return this season.
We also know, that „Supergirl“ is about the only show on this list that does not have a finished Episode 1 as of now. They might have one or two finished episodes around Episode 5 or 6, but that’s it.
The reason we know this is that even though they are up to Episode 6 with filming, just like the other Vancouver-based shows, they did start a lot later, meaning they did not film whole episodes. The other reason we know that is that Melissa is just returning to the show this months. And there is no way she won’t be in Episode 1. She might sit out a couple of episodes that star Young Kara and Young Alex instead, but there is no way she won’t be in the first six episodes at all.
We will also get less Alex this year, or tob e more accurate less Chyler. She is having her directorial debute this season. Episode 6 is her episode, and this is the one with Young Alex und Young Kara in it. However present day Brainy und Nia are also in it, so it won’t be a total Flashback Episode. However, expect Chyler Light Episodes 5-6. Episode 7 will be directed by David Harewood. David Ramsey will also direct an episode this season and will guest star as John Diggle, however probably not in the same episode.
Also Odette Annable is back for the final season in some capacity. Wether as Sam or as Reign or both and for how much is unknown at this point.
And yes, „Supergirl“ is also the only show on this, where I can’t give you an episode list, because this is all we know.
Yes, it is the final season and they are extra-tight-lipped because of that, and also as I said they don’t really have finished episodes at this stage, but still it would be nice, if someone up there in Vancouver or someone from the Writer’s Room would give us anything. But it seems like they are holding back with any kind of promotion at least until Melissa starts filming if not longer.

The Surprise
To say you're having a busy week would be an understatement. Apart from photoshoots and other scheduled interviews, you've been working tirelessly with the SNL cast and writers about the sketches you're going to be performing, which will hopefully be well received by the audience and everyone will have a good time. But besides all that, something you've really been looking forward to is happening today.
Today you're going to record the promos with BTS, which also means you're meeting them for the first time. You know they landed in New York a couple days ago and from what you've been told they've been rehearsing almost nonstop— but you haven't had a chance to see them in person.
Until now, that is.
When you arrived at the studio you were quickly briefed on how the shoot was going to go; after they're done with their photos, you'll be doing the promos with Cecily and BTS will accompany you. You were ushered to your dressing room shortly after, but on the way there you managed to get someone from the SNL crew to tell you that they hadn't arrived to the building yet.
To kill time while you get your makeup done after getting dressed, you put your earphones on and quickly search "How to say hello in Korean" on Youtube.
"Ann-yang— fuck, that's not right—" You curse, sighing before going back a few seconds on the video. The makeup artist snickers at you, and you smile at her. "Annyeong— a-nnyeong— annyeonghaseyo—" You go back again and listen to the woman in the video one more time. "Annyeonghaseyo— I think that's right. Annyeonghaseyo, annyeong-haseyo."  You repeat, testing the word on your tongue. "Annyeonghaseyo. Yeah I think I got it." You say to yourself, closing the video. "Annyeonghaseyo!" You repeat one last time, saying it to your reflection in the mirror. "Yep, I got it."
"Okay, you're done." Your makeup artist says, pulling back and checking her work. "I'll see you before the shoot to see if there's something I need to fix." You give her a thumbs up as she gathers her things.
"Thank you!"
As she leaves, you turn around to check yourself in the mirror. At first glance it doesn't seem like she did a lot, but her instructions were to give you a more natural, casual look, and she did a very good job.
"Over here." You hear someone say behind you, and when you turn around you're surprised to find BTS walk into the room, waving at you.
"Annyeonghaseyo!"  You quickly greet them, getting up from your chair and walking up to them with a bright, friendly grin.
Tumblr media
Jungkook barely slept the previous night. Part of it can easily be attributed to jet lag, but another reason for it was the fact that today they're going to meet you.
Finally.
Yesterday they were told that they needed to shoot the photos that they'll use before their performances and then the promos with you, and from that moment on Jungkook was barely able to think about anything else. Jimin is also very excited, but Jungkook can tell he's not nearly as nervous as he is. He didn't let it affect his mindset during rehearsals, but the moment they got a break or had to stop, he was suddenly reminded that he was going to meet you in only hours and he got nervous all over again.
"My hands are shaking."  He says as they ride the elevator to the SNL studio floor, looking down at his trembling fingers.
"Jungkook-ah—" Hoseok says in a soothing voice, grabbing Jungkook's hands with his to stop them from shaking. "It's gonna be okay."  Jungkook smiles and nods, even if it does nothing to ease his nerves. He's certain you're going to be nice to them, but he's a bit worried he'll get too flustered and you'll think he's weird.
The elevator door opens and they are greeted by their staff and someone from SNL's as well, who quickly starts explaining them where they need to go and what they will be doing. Namjoon makes sure to ask whatever questions they all had, and soon enough they are getting ready in their dressing room.
"What's Namjoon doing?"  Jin asks as he puts his jacket on, looking at him speak with someone from the SNL crew.
"I don't know, they called him over."  Yoongi replies with a shrug, looking at himself in the mirror to see if his clothes fit like they're supposed to.
"Namjoon-hyung, what did they want?"  Taehyung asks when Namjoon returns sporting a suspiciously satisfied smile.
"Jungkook, Jimin, come here as well." Up until this point, the two had been watching a video of their rehearsal sitting on a couch together, oblivious to what was happening around them.
"What is it, Hyung?"  Jimin asks, with Jungkook right behind him.
"So, someone from the SNL staff just told me that in two minutes we're going to take our pictures—"  The rest just stare at him, because they all knew that already. It's not news. "—and after that they said we're going to go meet [Y/N] in her dressing room, before we shoot the promos."
"In her dressing room?" Jin asks, eyebrows raised in surprise. "Are you guys coming, too?"  He asks their staff, but they shake their heads.
"We're not filming it cause we haven't asked her if she's okay with it."  Namjoon clarifies, and the rest nod in understanding. He turns to Jungkook and Jimin, who are just standing there looking shocked, albeit in very different ways.
Jimin is grinning widely looking like Christmas came early, but Jungkook is standing there looking like a little kid who is about to tell his parents he just threw up.
"What's wrong?"  Hoseok asks, resting his hand on Jungkook's shoulder.
"I can't do it."  He says suddenly, shaking his head. "I'm too nervous. You should go without me."
"What?!"  Jimin protests, turning around to look at him with his eyes wide. "You've been waiting for this for months, you have to come!"
"What if I embarrass myself in front of her and she thinks I'm weird?"
"Jungkook-ah, if you embarrass yourself in front of her, I'll embarrass myself in front of her even more!" Hoseok says, lifting his fist up resolutely. "She'll forget about anything you did."  Jungkook genuinely smiles at that and nods, finally agreeing. Hoseok wraps his arm around his shoulder comfortingly. "You'll be just fine."
"Guys, it's time to go." Someone from the SNL staff says from the door. "Follow me."
"It will be okay."  Namjoon tells Jungkook before they walk out, rubbing his arms in a soothing manner. "Don't worry about it."
Tumblr media
The shoot ends up being incredibly fun, and they know their fans are absolutely going to love how the pictures turned out. There are some that ended up looking incredibly goofy, and they hope those are pictures they end up using during the episode. But as they see the same staff member who talked to Namjoon earlier come in searching for them, they all know what's coming next.
"Hey guys, if you can follow me, please." She says, walking ahead and looking back from time to time to make sure they're all behind her. "Her dressing room is this way. They should be done with her makeup by now."
"Hoseok-ah, can you come here a second?" Namjoon asks, pulling him from the middle of their line into the front with him. "I need to ask a favor."  He whispers, and Hoseok nods. "When we greet her, I'm gonna give her a hug. I need you to come right after me and give her a hug as well, so that she knows it's okay to do that. That way, Jungkook will get a hug too."
"Ah, that's a good idea."  He says, nodding. "Okay."
"It's just around the corner." The staff woman says, and soon enough she's standing next to an open door pointing them inside. "Over here."
Namjoon and Hoseok go in first, with Jimin, Yoongi, Jin, Taehyung and finally Jungkook right behind them.
You stand up as soon as they enter, smiling widely at them.
"Annyeonghaseyo!"  You say, waving both hands. The greeting catches them by surprise, because none of them had expected you'd say hello in Korean, and perfectly pronounced as well.
A chorus of annyeonghaseyo and annyeong is their response, and Namjoon is quick to walk up to you and give you a hug you reciprocate immediately.
"I didn't know you spoke Korean." He jokes, and you grimace and shake your head.
"That's because I don't." You say with a laugh, and Hoseok moves in to hug you as well. "I wish I did, but hello is as far as I got."
Yoongi, Jin and Taehyung hug you after them, and Jimin is next.
"That was a very good hello." He says, smiling brightly at you before giving you a hug as well.
"Thank you, Jimin." You say, and he is caught by surprise at the sound of his name. It seems that it shows on his face, because you laugh when you pull away. "What, you thought I wouldn't know your names?" You move onto the only person left, and Namjoon and Hoseok share a look with each other. You might not realize because you don't know him, but Jungkook is clearly feeling completely shy at the moment. "Jungkook!" You say, opening your arms and pulling him into a hug as well.
He hugs you back immediately, and maybe for an outsider it would look like a normal hug, but to Jungkook is much more than that. The first thing he noticed when you started greeting them was how warm and kind your smile looked, and how much nicer your voice sounds in person, even if he knows people would tell him it sounds just like in the movies. It doesn't— it's only slightly different to the voice you use when you act, but he can tell. The sound of his own name coming out of your lips made his heartbeat speed up, and the moment you wrapped your arms around him he was immediately enveloped by two things: warmth and the most comforting smell he's ever experienced.
You pull away sooner than he would've liked— if it was for him he would've kept hugging you for 10 minutes— and he feels like if he tries to speak right now there is not a chance even a single word will come out of his mouth.
"I'm not gonna lie, we didn't think you'd know our names." Namjoon says, giving you a guilty smile. You laugh and Jungkook almost gasps, because you're still standing next to him and hearing you laugh in person is completely different than seeing it on a screen.
"Nice to know you think so highly of me!" You joke. "Of course I know your names, guys. Jungkook, Jimin, V, Jin, Suga, J-Hope and Namjoon." You point at each one of them as you say their names. "I can also do the chant your fans make, if you want me to."
"No, no, that's okay." Namjoon says, shaking his head with a smile. He knows from Jungkook that you're very nice and good-natured, but experiencing it is something else. No wonder he likes you so much.
"Anyway, let's not just stand here, come, sit down." You say, pointing at the couches and sitting chairs. "Are you guys nervous about Saturday?" You say, sitting down with Jimin on your right and Namjoon on your left while the others find spots for themselves. Namjoon quickly translates what you said.
"Yes, uh... excited, but nervous." Taehyung says and you nod.
"Yeah, I remember when I first hosted SNL a few years ago, I was so nervous I actually threw up like, half an hour before we started."
"No, are you serious?" Namjoon says, completely disbelieving, before translating for the others what you just said. Hoseok gasps, covering his mouth with his hand.
"I am! I don't know how familiar you guys are in Korea with SNL, but here everyone knows the show. I grew up watching Tina Fey, Amy Poheler, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon— so many people who then went on to have this successful careers and who everyone here knows— and there I was, throwing up half an hour before the show started. It was intense. I actually thought I wasn't gonna make it, I'd ruin the episode and I'd be blacklisted from all of Hollywood." The way you're telling the story definitely makes it sound way funnier than they're sure it was for you at the moment, and they can't help but laugh when Namjoon translates for them.
"But you did a good job." Jungkook says suddenly, and you turn your attention to him. You give him a slightly surprised smile.
"You've seen the episode?" You ask, and it's only then that Jungkook realizes what he just did.
Mentioning a movie you've done would've been okay, because it's much more easy to find and most of them have been shown in Korea anyway, but admitting he watched your SNL episode is admitting he actively went and looked for it, which is almost as bad as saying something he heard you say in an interview.
Before he can't even think of an answer, Namjoon speaks.
"Ah—" He says, shaking his head. "Jungkook here... he's a big fan of you." Jungkook smiles but immediately blushes, looking down at his hands.
"No way, really?" You say, and Jungkook looks up to see if it bothered you that Namjoon said that, but instead he just finds everyone nodding and you grinning at him. "Then what are you doing sitting so far away from me?!" You say suddenly, shocking everyone, including himself. Namjoon immediately stands up.
"Yes, Jungkook-ah, come sit here."  He says, pointing at the now empty seat next to you.
Even though Jungkook feels like he might pass out from embarrassment, he does as told and walks up to sit next to you— while his heart beats so fast he worries it might pop out of his chest at any point.
"Come on." You say, patting the empty spot on the couch.
"He's shy." Namjoon says with a smile, sitting where Jungkook was a moment ago.
"Jimin is also a fan." Jungkook says once he sits down, to divert some of the attention away from him. It works, because you immediately turn to your right.
"Are you serious?" You ask, grinning from ear to ear. Jimin blushes instantly under your gaze, but he smiles and nods anyway.
"Yes."
"You guysssss!" You say, falling back into the couch and grabbing your chest dramatically. "That's so sweet!" They all laugh, even Jungkook and Jimin who are currently feeling an intense mixture of shyness and embarrassment. "I want to say I'm your fan too, but I feel like that would be disrespectful to your actual fans. They're really passionate." You sit back up. "I can say that I've watched a lot of your videos, though."
"Not the oldest ones, right?" Namjoon says immediately, worrying you've watched videos from their debut days. You raise your eyebrows in surprise.
"I haven't watched anything you should be embarrassed about so, probably not?" You laugh. "That was an intense reaction." Namjoon blushes and translates your exchange to the others, who immediately groan in embarrassment.
"Hyung, why did you have to mention that?" Jimin says, covering his face with his hands.
"Sorry, they're just a bit embarrassing." You give him an almost guilty smile. "You will look for them now, won't you?"
"I feel like I have to." You say, laughing.
"That's okay, it's my own fault." He says, shaking his head. "What's your favorite video, from the ones you watched?"
"Blood, Sweat and Tears." You say, almost instantly. "It's very... artistic. I love it." You say, smiling. "And I love your song Idol— the version with Nicki Minaj is so good. To be honest, all your videos are good. You guys are so talented." You wait for Namjoon to translate, and they all thank you once he's done.
"What's your favorite movie of mine that you've watched?" You suddenly ask, looking at Jimin and then at Jungkook. Namjoon translates, even though he's pretty sure they understood what you asked.
"Ah, the... Netflix movie is my favorite." Jungkook says, looking at you for a moment before lowering his gaze again. He knows the name, but it's a bit long and he was worried he'd mess up the pronunciation.
"Mine, too." Jimin says, nodding in agreement.
"Aww, the one I did with Timotheé?"
"Yeah, we all watched that one together, actually." Namjoon says, and you go quiet for a moment, seemingly thinking about something.
"Huh." You say, shrugging your shoulders. "Anyway, that is one of my favorites as well, I'm glad you guys liked it, too." You say, bumping shoulders with Jimin and Jungkook.
Before they can say anything else, the same woman who brought them here walks into the room.
"Guys, we're ready to shoot the promos." She says, and you all stand up.
"Duty calls." You say, walking back to the chair and grabbing your jacket before putting it on. "Come on, let's shoot some promos." You say, smiling at them before walking out of the room.
Before following you, they are share looks with each other but more specifically, they look at Jungkook, who looks like he can't believe what just happened truly happened. Namjoon opens his mouth to ask him how he feels, but Jungkook beats him to it.
"That was... amazing."

To say things haven’t been easy for Klaus is almost a hilarious understatement, but he’s trying, alright? Swear down, honest to god, trying. That has to count for something.“ Oneshot, 5,876 Words.

Noh Mask: Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shinsuka (Shinsuke Nakamura x Asuka) Author's Notes: Translations: Ohayou – Goodmorning. Sumimasen - Excuse me Hai - Yes Iie - It was nothing (a way of saying "You're welcome")
Though she woke first early the next morning, Asuka felt considerably refreshed. Briefly she marveled that she quite possibly had best night's rest she had gotten in a long, long time. Perhaps even since she came to the U.S.
She moved to stretch and greet the new day only to find herself enveloped by two arms. Her shifting stirred the larger male body behind her.
Asuka abruptly stopped moving, body becoming fully awake faster than her mind.
What was going on?
As her mind grasped bits and pieces from the previous evening, she remembered just whom she was sharing her bed with. She felt a mixture of thrill and shock.
Oh god…
Though she ceased shifting as soon as she came to that realization, Shinsuke, still mostly asleep, pressed his chest closer to her back. He sleepily nuzzled her short hair out of the way and buried his face in the nape of her neck.
Asuka tried to contain the bubble of emotion welling inside of her at his closeness. She really did. But the innocent yet intimate contact only served to fry her circuits.
She let out a shrill squeak.
Shinsuke jerked awake behind her, then realizing their predicament, muttered a quick "Sumimasen!" The usual grace he displayed in the ring and even outside of it was nowhere to be found as he tried to disentangle himself from her. Asuka for her part could only lie there as a dead weight, making the task harder for him.
When he finally got free from the entanglement of their bodies and bed sheets he cleared his throat, he gave another apology with a low bow. He then smoothed his hands down the front of his shirt distractedly, eyes looking everywhere but at her. It was plain to see his nervousness.
Asuka cursed her weakness, already mourning his warmth.
She felt the best course of action was to show him that his proximity had not frightened her.
"O-Ohayou," she greeted with a small smile.
Shinsuke's eyes tentatively met hers and a weight seemed to lift from his body. One corner of his mouth lifted in response.
"Ohayou."
They shared a quick breakfast together at a café in the hotel before they needed to head out again to make it for the airport. Their food wasn't Japanese, but the food was still good and the company even better.
"I wasn't sure what to do," Shinsuke chuckled, recalling a moment from his time in NJPW. They were currently sharing stories from their time before making it to WWE. "I could only think to cover my face to keep from laughing," he went on, "By the time I removed my hands, Ishii was running off camera to preserve himself. And Yoshi-Hashi…I could barely look at him out of embarrassment for him. That and the danger of laughing."
Asuka shook her head, smiling wryly. "I don't know who I should have felt more sorry for, him, or you and Ishii for having to endure such a embarrassing promo. You poor devils." She thought for a moment on a similar story for her to recount, "For me, it was hard to stay in character with the great Tajiri chasing myself and the Shirai sisters with a mop."
"A mop?" Shinsuke parroted incredulously, leaning in just a little bit.
"Hai," she nodded, "I think someone misplaced the haraigushi he was supposed to grab by accident."
At that he leaned back, eyes crinkling as he suppressed a bout of laughter with a hand.
"Ah maybe I should start calling you The King of Giggles," she teased.
Shinsuke's face immediately fell into a cute pout, "You wouldn't dare."
Her smile turned Cheshire.
"What do you want from me?"
"To preserve your honor and reputation?" she mused, then deadpanned, "You could carry my bags for a month."
"A month?" his pout intensified, "You really know how to go for the throat, Asuka"
She shrugged. "How do you think I managed to keep up with wrestling men in Japan?"
"Good point," he conceded, "But how do you think you would have faired against me?"
At this, Asuka had to fight a rising blush. But she was too intrigued by his challenge to melt into goo like some demure schoolgirl.
"Perhaps we should find out sometime."
Shinsuke grinned, his face taking on a fox-like quality that caused her heart rate to pick up. "Sounds like fun~"
Hours later they both caught the same plane flying out to Orlando, Florida where they both resided. They were able to be seated nearby, but not close enough where they could easily converse. She was instead seated next to Kofi. Though the other man was great company, she still couldn't help but miss spending time with Shinsuke.
She only had to endure a few hours however before they were reunited and she drove him home first before she went home herself.
He thanked her profusely for allowing him to travel with her and room with her.
"Iie," she replied giving him a radiant smile.
"May I see your phone?"
Asuka blinked in confusion, but nonetheless handed over her phone. She watched as he pulled out his own phone and tapped something into it. A few moments after he returned her phone, it pinged with a text message. She looked down at the screen, reading:
-Here is my number. Yeaoh~ -
The bird in her chest fluttered to life again.
"If you need anything at all, at any time, you can call me." he said with a seriousness that told her that he meant every word.
"H-Hai," she agreed, her voice coming out embarrassingly timid to her ears. She thanked him and they exchanged goodbyes, then she drove home.
That evening, Asuka tried to appreciate her small reprieve from life on the road. She attempted to enjoy a simple dinner, then some video games. When that didn't work, she tried her hand at finishing some artwork she had started last time she was home. None of it was working. She just felt too restless to find anything entertaining or to accomplish anything productive. Her unwanted raincloud had returned with a vengeance.
The only thing she succeeded in doing was continually picking up her phone to stare at Shinsuke's text, his words echoing through her head.
She wanted to reach out to him badly; it was almost like a need. But she was also afraid to.
It wouldn't do at all if she came off as too needy. She couldn't bother him every time she had a hardship. No she could endure this on her own.
Sleep was elusive once again.
Author's note: If you haven't seen the gem of Shinsuke and Ishii trying not to lose it over Yoshi-Hashi's promo in New Japan, then you MUST google watch! : https://twitter.com/mrlariato/status/913478041879351296?lang=en As for Asuka's moment with Tajiri, the first time I watched it, I believed it was a mop (but after watching it a second time I believe it is something more like a a sort of Japanese religious tool used to exorcise evil spirits called a "haraigushi"). But for the purpose of this fic I decided to keep it as a mop because it would match the humor of Shin's story much easier that way. The video of that is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUy1b3ULUq0&t=28s Honestly since seeing Asuka as a heel as Kana has me curious to see her as a heel along with heel Shinsuke. I think they both really rock being heels.
Also really wanted to thank those that have faved, reblogged, and left feedback on this fic. You really make my day seeing them <3

9 Months Later - September 2019
It may have only been about 9 months since the break-up, but it felt at least a decade had passed since Maya and Namjoon last saw each other. Within these 9 months many things had drastically changed.
Within these last several months, BTS’s career skyrocketed as they achieved their #1 on Billboard Hot 100 with single that was released after Fake Love. As if it was even possible, BTS was even more busier than before. The East and the West both wanted BTS.  Collaborations, advertisement deals, album promotions, award shows, all took up BTS’s little left over time they had to themselves. Each step they took, they were showered with success. Amongst this success BTS started their new tour and tried to find peace between the mayhem. For some members this wasn’t so hard, as they continued to find little things to feel happy about. For others, this success was starting to feel like a prison.
Meanwhile, Maya’s career had a major lift off as well, as the small blog she had started back in Korea was becoming the new internet phenomenon. Alongside poetry, Maya had also started uploading short stories, which were gaining traction from all age groups. Maya had managed to create her own little universe within that blog which readers had started to consider their own safe haven. Her words were powerful, and somehow the words healed, guided, and inspired people. The blog was spreading like a wildfire, not only in Korea, but also around the world. In fact, her blog was now getting small funds from ads and sponsors. Most people didn’t know who was behind the famous Korean writing blog and so American and Korean media became interested in the writer once they found out that the writer’s name was not Korean. One of the major news and media source, The Daily Primer invited her on their show. She was hesitant to reveal her identity, but after much consideration she agreed to go on the show.
Maya flew out to New York for this interview, and when she walked on to the set, she was suddenly overwhelmed by the camera and lights, and people. There were just so many people.  A feeling of nervousness took over her as the staff guided Maya to her dressing room. Everyone on the set was surprised that the writer of the famous blog was a woman of color. Maya’s decision to reveal her identity was a big risk. Would her readers still read her work if they found out she was not Korean?
Her original plan with the blog was to hide her identity forever. But it almost felt like the sweetest revenge to reveal her identity after everyone was already hooked to her writing. Because she knew that all her readers expected a petite, Korean woman to walk out onto the set, but to see her, they would be astonished.
Maya began to pace in the dressing room as outside the staff prepared for her segment with the interviewer, Lauren Pearce. Lauren was known to ask very direct and no nonsense questions ,which was both good and bad. Maya was excited to get the promo for her site, but also was worried as to what type of questions she would be asked. For the most part she had prepared some answers, to questions she was expecting to be asked. But she also knew she would have to wing it for the other questions. While Maya paced in her dressing room, a staff member suddenly came in to tell her that the interview was about to start.
Maya hesitatingly walked outside her dressing room and followed the staff member to the set. A strange feeling of overwhelming nervousness took over her as she saw the set and Lauren sit on her famous navy blue chair. Ironically, Maya knew this show because of BTS. About a year ago, Lauren had BTS over for an interview while they were in town for their last tour. Maya was in Korea back then, but she remembered staying up to watch it. Maya gulped as she remembered the couch where Namjoon had sat. Somehow fate had brought her to the same couch, but in a completely unexpected way. He had looked so graceful and so put together. She wished she also had that charm and the poise. She shook her head trying to get rid of the thoughts. She knew she needed to focus today. Today was not the day to think about him. Today was her day.
In the past several months, Maya had almost completely avoided  thinking about what happened with Namjoon. Every time a thought about Namjoon appeared in her mind, she pushed it away and started thinking about something else. She wasn’t trying to erase her past, but she also didn’t want to dwell on it either. There was no point in crying over spilled milk, especially when the milk had spilled because of her.
As Maya arrived on the set, she felt like an outsider. She had never imagined being on a TV interview in a million years. This was not what she was used to. She was used to hiding behind her computer screen, hiding behind her words. Maya felt her body and mind slightly dissociate as Lauren began the introduction and the recording of the interview started, while Maya waited for her cue to go onto the set and sit next to Lauren.
“Hi everyone, my name is Lauren Pearce and welcome to another episode of The Daily Primer with Lauren, and today I will be priming you with the new pop culture topic: Blogs. While many experts in the past had predicted that the blogging would soon become a thing of the past, one blog has somehow went against the tide in bringing back the blogging trend. Not only that, this blog is almost entirely written in Korean, yet it is the most viewed blog in the United States at the current moment. Today, we are talking with the face behind this blog, which may come to a surprise for many of you. We have here in the studio today, Maya Shroff, the writer of  Wan Blue Thoughts. Please welcome her with a round of applause.”
Maya walks on to the stage and Lauren shakes hands with her and gestures her to take a seat on the couch that Maya had thought about earlier. Maya hesitantly takes a seat and waits for the cheers to die down in the audience. Maya was genuinely surprised at how many people had came with posters that had Maya’s poem titles on them. She suddenly felt a surge of emotions as she looked into the crowd. Had she become some type of celebrity?
The crowd in the studio finally calmed down and Lauren began the interview.
“So, Maya, you are the author of the evidently popular blog Wan Blue Thoughts…” Lauren gestured at the audience when she said ‘evidently’.
Maya nodded. “Yes, yes I am”
“Alright, and this is your first time revealing your identity? Correct?” Lauren asked.
“Yes, this is my first time showing my face to my readers.” Maya confirmed with a small smile. Her palms were getting sweaty as the questions continued.
“Oh wow, and I know that you are a graduate student from Arkansas, correct? And I believe you were born here in America as well?
“Yes, I was born in California.”
“Alright, so what inspired you to learn Korean and write in Korean?”
“Umm...that’s a good question, Lauren. Actually, I am currently working on my Ph.D. and my dissertation is based on the impact of Korean culture  on Korean fiction. So, in order to do my thesis and dissertation, I learned how to speak Korean and write in Hangul.”
“Oh wow, and what got you interested in pursuing your Ph.D. on this topic?”
“Well, I have always been interested in different cultures, but during my undergraduate I became interested in Korean culture and decided to combine my love for literature and writing with my love for the Korean culture.” Maya responded.
Throughout this whole time, Lauren was intrigued and she nodded along with Maya’s responses. So far, Maya had predicted all the questions and she was answering all of them with the best of her abilities. Lauren continued her questions with enthusiasm. “That’s very fascinating Maya, now, before we found out your name, we had all assumed the person behind this blog was someone who was a native Korean speaker. Critics have greatly praised your vocabulary and writing ability. Now, have you ever lived in Korea?”
Maya hesitated to answer the question. Her breath hitched a little, but she quickly tried to regain control over herself. She knew this question would be asked, so it wasn’t a complete surprise, but still, she was not fully ready to open this can of worms.
“...Uh...yes, I have lived there for a year.”
“And, this was when you started the blog, correct?” Lauren asked. She apparently had done much more research on Maya, then Maya had anticipated.
“...Yeah, I did.” Maya softly responded.
“So, how did you come up with this idea?” Lauren asked.
Maya became overwhelmed. She knew what Lauren was asking but she didn’t know how to answer it without mentioning the truth. She looked at the camera and then back at Lauren and then back at the camera. What should she say? She didn’t want to mention him, but then should she lie? No, she should not lie about something like this. She just needed to be vague. She suddenly remembered the night when Namjoon had convinced her to start the blog. He knew her potential, even before she herself did.It was such a beautiful night. He had promised to be her spool of thread. But that promise was broken along with every other thing he said. Maya couldn’t breath all of the sudden. Her heart started pounding.
“Maya?” Lauren asked. “Maya, did you hear my question?” Lauren’s second attempt at getting Maya’s attention finally brought Maya back into reality.
“Hmm?” Maya responded. “Oh, I mean...yes, I heard your question….Sorry, I mean...yeah it was just a friend that gave me the idea to start the blog. It...it...started as a hobby, but now I am really passionate about my work…” Maya quickly brushed off her thoughts and gave her vague response.
“Oh really, well that’s great. Seems like your friend must have seen the potential in your work. Anyways, last question: now, it seems that the fascination with Korean culture in general is spreading in America recently. You might already know, but Korean music is also doing really well in America and artists such as BTS have really built a strong fanbase in America, despite singing in almost all Korean. Do you think that the popularity of Korean acts like BTS might have also influenced the popularity of your blog in America?” Lauren asked with a calm smile on her face, as she was completely oblivious of Maya’s history. Lauren had no idea who was sitting in front of her. Poor Lauren.
Maya clenched her fist, trying to keep calm. She knew her attempts were failing, but she couldn’t break down right now. She needed to stay professional. She needed to stay calm. It was just a question. There was no way Lauren knew about her history with Namjoon. But why was she asking this question? This was the worst question. Maya grabbed the glass of water that was in front of her on the coffee table. She hesitantly took a sip, as she tried to catch her breath. Her hands were shaking and she was worried she would drop the glass. She knew Lauren was waiting for her response, but what could Maya say? The camera was zooming in on recording her every little action. Maya tried to calmly put her glass of water back on the table. She finally managed to catch her breath, and began her response.
“Uh, yes...the popularity of Korean music and artists like...like them have definitely helped. The world is getting smaller due to the internet, and language is becoming less of a barrier.” Maya gave a brief response.
Lauren gave a smile and nodded. “That’s very true. Well, that was our segment with Ms. Maya Shroff and her amazing blog, Wan Blue Thoughts. If you haven’t already, definitely check out her work. We’ll see everyone next time on the Daily Primer.”
Two days later - Korea
Namjoon was sitting in his studio before a concert practice, trying to produce the melody that had been almost haunting him for the past several days. But unfortunately the melody that sounded so amazing in his head, just didn’t seem to come across correctly when he tried making it. This had been the constant struggle for Namjoon in these past months.
Namjoon decided to take a break from work, and decided to go on Twitter. He often regretted going on Twitter because it was rare that he came out of the site feeling better. Most of the time it just left him with either a sour or bitter feeling. But nonetheless, this site was just such a great distraction, he usually did find himself on there anyways. Today was no different, as Namjoon began scrolling through his millions of notifications. He started briefly reading through the tweets, while drinking a cup of coffee. He giggled a few times, cringed a few times, and then suddenly his heart came to a complete stop. Namjoon almost choked on his last sip of coffee when he saw a familiar face appear in a picture in one of the tweets  sitting next to Lauren Pearce. BTS had met Lauren Pearce last time they went for an interview on The Daily Primer, and now he was seeing the person he had not seen in the past nine months sitting next to Lauren, almost in the exact same place he was sitting in when he visited. Namjoon gulped as he read the caption for the picture.  The post was captioned: “A candid conversation with the mystery author of Wan Blue Thoughts.” A tear escaped his tired and exhausted eyes as he saw that smiling face of his soulmate in the picture.
But then he suddenly started coughing as he couldn’t swallow the sip of coffee he had taken earlier. Namjoon quickly closed his laptop and collapsed onto his small studio couch  after chugging a glass of water. He debated whether what he was seeing was real or not. He was aware that Wan Blue Thoughts had become widely popular. He also knew that the author of the blog was a mystery to almost everyone in the world. What surprised Namjoon was that Maya finally revealed herself on national television. He just couldn’t believe it. Namjoon tried to close his eyes and pretend it wasn’t real. He tried to pretend he didn’t see the tweet so he would resist the urge to watch the interview.
But of course, he couldn’t resist anyways as he went back to his desk and quickly opened the laptop to find the link to the interview. Are you kidding? He had been dying to see her face all this time! He had not once contacted her in this past nine months. He wanted to just get a glimpse of her.
Seeing her brought back all the misery and joy all at once. He couldn’t be more proud then he was in that moment. He had never felt so happy and sad at the same time. She made it. She was famous. Her hard work. Her perseverance all added up to this. Her kite was flying, even though no one was there to hold the spool for her. Not even him.
He hesitatingly clicked on the link, while holding his breath, afraid of what he would see.
He saw Lauren introduce the author of Wan Blue Thoughts. Maya Shroff. Her entrance. Namjoon saw the audience holding boards with phrases from her poems. It warmed his heart. It felt just like when ARMYs would hold up boards with BTS’s names and lyrics. He couldn’t be more excited. And of course, as expected, she still looked beautiful. It did look like she lost some weight though. Her cheeks were more hollow, and her skin looked less vibrant, but still she looked beyond beautiful. Maya looked beautiful and it hurt so much to see her. Namjoon’s vision was getting blurry as his eyes were filled with tears. He quickly paused the video to wipe his tears with his sleeves. No, this was not the time to cry. This moment was not supposed to be about his stupid emotions, this moment belonged to her. This was Maya’s moment.
He continued to watch as Lauren began the questions. Lauren’s questions started out quite simple. Namjoon still often forgot that Maya’s first language was not Korean. It was English. Seeing her speak in English felt strange, but also felt great. He then also remembered that she also spoke Portuguese because she had spent some time in Brazil. Wow, she was truly global.
Maya  answered Lauren’s questions with poise, but Namjoon could see the nervousness that was hidden beneath the calm facade. With each passing question, the facade was fading. Because the questions were getting harder.
Lauren suddenly asked a question that visibly changed Maya’s expression.
“And, this was when you started the blog, correct?” Lauren asked so easily, but she had already set off a fire inside Namjoon’s heart, as he heard the question through his headphones and saw Maya’s expressions change entirely.
“Yes I did” she answered.
So, how did you come up with this idea?” Lauren followed up with again, a question that felt like a thousand pound rock had just been thrown at Namjoon. He immediately paused the video and put his hand on his chest. He was afraid his heart would explode.
How could they ask her this question? She must be in so much pain. He couldn’t believe she really went through this. Namjoon was a wreck by this point. He was drowning in guilt and surrendering to his pain. He didn’t think he could watch it. There was no way he was prepared to hear Maya’s answer. The pain of hearing the answer would kill Namjoon, but curiosity would kill him first. Curiosity won the battle and Namjoon continued the video while biting his bottom lip, trying to hold back the sobs.
Maya didn’t answer the question immediately, and the silence was deafening. It felt like a loud hammer was going on in the background of Namjoon’s mind each millisecond Maya was quiet. Lauren called out Maya’s name, trying to get her to talk. But Maya was falling apart. She was trying to keep herself together, but Namjoon knew she was falling apart. This was happening all because of him. He was the reason that Maya had to go through this. What a terrible person he was? He deserved nothing but pain for the rest of his life, he thought to himself.
As per Namjoon’s wish, Maya’s answer brought exactly what Namjoon wished upon himself. It brought him more pain than he was already feeling. “....My friend gave me the idea” Maya had answered. Friends. Namjoon suddenly remembered the day he and Maya had just found out about the reason behind their visions. He had convinced Maya they could at least be friends. Yes, friends. Ah, that’s what Maya and Namjoon would have been if he hadn’t been stupid and confessed. He could have had her in his life, if he hadn’t confessed. They could have been friends.
But she called him her friend. Is that what she considered him? Did she still believe he was worthy of their friendship? He didn’t deserve this kindness. He truly didn’t.
Namjoon continued watching the video, like he was granting himself his own death sentence. He knew the next question would probably be even worse than the last, yet he still continued. Perhaps he was  a masochist.
Do you think that the popularity of Korean acts like BTS might have also influenced the popularity of your blog in America?”
Namjoon again paused the video. He had started coughing again. He was choking on his own saliva. He was hyperventilating. He was sweating. He was sobbing. It felt like he had just drank a glass of acid. Was this freaking real? Did that woman just ask Maya about him? About BTS? The name that Maya probably hates more than she hates anything in the world? This is the harshest  thing anyone could ask. Not sure how it was possible, but somehow he felt more pain than Maya felt when she was asked this question.
“Uh, yes...the popularity of Korean music and artists like...like them have definitely helped. The world is getting smaller due to the internet, and language is becoming less of a barrier.” Maya’s face had lost all the color at this point and Namjoon could physically feel the pain through the computer screen. Like them. She couldn’t even say their name.
The interview ended, but Namjoon didn’t move. He just sat there staring at his computer screen as he couldn’t really process what he had just witness.
Maya Shroff, his ex-girlfriend, the author of Wan Blue Thoughts was just asked about BTS, the group he was a part of. He couldn’t believe she was even able to answer that question. Her courage was jaw-dropping. If it was him in her place, he would have fallen apart right then and there. But no, Maya answered the question with such honesty. Namjoon didn’t know whether he should stand up and clap for her or whether he should cry and hide under a rock.
The extent of his admiration for Maya in that moment was almost intolerable. All he wanted to do was to go run up to her and take her in his arms, forgetting every  decision and tell her just how proud he was. But he couldn’t. So he just sat there, half-breathing. Half-alive.
After a few minutes Namjoon was finally able to take a deep breath. He looked at the time on his watch, suddenly wondering what Maya would be doing right now. It wasn’t the first time he had wondered this, but this was definitely the first time he was truly embracing the agony that came with the thoughts about Maya. He figured at this point he might as well wallow in his pain and truly accept his misery.
It was 11:30 am in Korea, that meant it was probably 9:30pm in Arkansas. Maya was probably awake, Namjoon thought. She was probably reading, or maybe listening to music. Nah, she was probably still working on her thesis. She was probably still looking up some references to cite, or maybe she had just received feedback from her advisor and was trying to keep calm, even though she was probably freaking out inside. He knew Maya lived alone in Arkansas, just like in Korea. He knew Maya liked being independent, so he never told her how he worried about her living alone. Maya never took care of herself. She overworked herself and always made risky decisions.
Then a sudden thought appeared in his head as he remembered one of the scenes from his visions. It was the scene with  the abandoned room where Maya was tied to the chair. He remembered the American flag. He suddenly remembered there was an American flag in that room. This means the place must be in America. Hold on,  What if his vision came true? What if she was in danger in America? What if something was going to happen to her because she was in America? He knew she was okay in the interview, but was she okay now? When was this even recorded? How would he even know if she wasn’t okay? She wasn’t even in touch with Taehyung anymore, because Taehyung felt uncomfortable with the idea of them being friends. Besides, Taehyung was still somewhat upset that Namjoon didn’t tell Maya face to face. Everyone was disappointed. Even he was. Namjoon knew he also couldn’t call Junmyeon and Han Bi because both of them hated his guts.
Perhaps he should just let it go. Nothing had happened so far, so then nothing will happen in the future either. Maybe that vision wouldn’t come true anymore. She was probably fine. She needed to be fine, right?
Namjoon still remained seated at his desk staring at the computer screen. An urge consumed Namjoon to play the interview again...and so he did. Seriously, this guy was losing it!
Of course, another flood of tears and a meltdown later he was right back where he started. This time he suddenly found himself scrolling through his contact list on his phone. What was he doing? He suddenly found himself almost pressing the call button next to Maya’s number. Is he crazy? He needed to hear her voice. He need to know she was okay. What if she wasn't okay? Just one call. He had changed his number, so she wouldn’t even know it’s him. She wouldn’t right? He just needed to make one call to make sure she was safe. He was so proud of her. He was so worried about her. He really needed to hear her voice.  He wouldn’t talk. He wouldn’t even say a word. Just need to hear her voice. Just one call.
Namjoon pressed the button. He could hear the phone ringing and he held his breath. What was he doing? This was a terrible idea. Why would he call her? He had resisted the urge for so long and now just when things were slowly getting back to the way they were before, he was failing. This is a bad idea. Namjoon started reconsidering his decision, and thought about disconnecting. He was about to press the red “call end” button, but he suddenly heard a voice on the other end.
“Hello...Hello?” Maya spoke softly. She was sitting at her desk. Staring at her computer screen as she spoke. No one answered from the other end and Maya could suddenly feel her heartbeat begin to rise. She looked at the number. It was unknown, but she could tell the number was from Korea. Korea? It couldn’t be Han Bi or Junmyeon because she had their numbers saved. Strange.
She whispered again, “Hello...who is this?”
Again, no one answered. Maya gulped. She didn’t want to jump to conclusions. She knew better. This was probably just some random number. But still, she couldn’t help but think...what if...No. No, it couldn’t be him.
“Hello?” Maya said once more. No answer. Her heart was thumping heavily at this point. She felt like she couldn’t breathe. Where had the oxygen disappeared? Why was her heart beating so quickly? Namjoon on the other end felt like he could breathe again. She was okay. Maya was fine. It felt like these past 9 months he hadn’t been living, and Maya’s small “hello” had brought life back into his soul.
Maya gulped trying to find energy to speak. “It’s you, isn’t it?” She responded softly again. Namjoon’s heart suddenly sank as he heard Maya’s words. She knew. Darn it. He needed to immediately end this call. Namjoon needed to press the red ‘end call’ button. Why wasn’t he ending the call? He took his phone away from his ear slowly. His hands were shaking. He was about to end the call...
“Don’t...Don’t hang up” he suddenly heard from the other end. “Please…” Maya was flustered. All the emotions just pouring out of her as she held onto her phone tightly against her ear. She was trying to hear him. She knew he wouldn’t speak, but she felt that if nothing else, maybe she could hear him breathing. Hear him sighing. Something. Words began to come out of Maya’s mouth without her permission. She found herself saying things all of the sudden. No she wasn’t just speaking. She was shouting. She was crying and shouting.
“I hate you. I hate you so much, Kim Namjoon. You are the biggest jerk. I never want to hear from you again. Do you hear me? Never. You could’ve just told me. Why didn’t you tell me? Jerk. I hate you. You couldn’t have just told me face to face like a grown man? Is this really how little you think of me? I waited so long...I hate you. And seriously, you sent Jimin? How could you do this? I knew this would happen. I told you this wouldn’t end well. You didn’t listen. I hate you. Do you hear me?” Maya was just repeating herself at this point. She just kept saying things, she didn’t even know what she was saying.
Namjoon tried to hold in his breath. He tried to not make a sound. He kept listening to her bitter words. Her painful complaint. He swallowed her words like a bitter medicine as he kept the phone close to his ear, with tears streaming down his face. Because even though her words were bitter, he could at least hear her voice. The voice that was like music to ears. Besides, she hated him. That’s exactly what he wanted, right? He wanted her to hate him.
Maya knew she was just rambling at this point and so she hung up the phone. Her entire body was shaking. She couldn’t believe he had finally called. Maya knew it was him. She had a feeling he would call eventually as this was in one of her visions. She also knew how he was reacting in that moment. She could visualize his face. The tears. She knew he was holding his breath. Trying not to make a sound. She also knew every bitter word she said would hurt him later, but she couldn’t help it. Namjoon had hurt her far more, by not facing her. Sure, her words will hurt, but his actions had hurt Maya more.
Maya sat there with the phone in her hands, weeping as she stared at the screen. Namjoon did the same. For a moment it felt like the world had stopped moving, as they both sat at their desks on two different parts of the world feeling the same pain. Perhaps, it was in the moment that the universe finally saw their despair, and fate decided to take a turn, once again.

Castlevania Final Season Review
The final season of the Castlevania anime as we know it arrives on Netflix. A mere six weeks have passed since the events of season three. Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard grow tired of their current routine, but when vampires threaten to revive Dracula the trio band together one more time to put their old enemy to rest for good.
Castlevania is a 2017 video game anime adaptation of the franchise of the same name. It is produced by Frederator Studios and distributed by Netflix. It releases on Netflix globally on May 13, 2021.
Editor’s Note: An advanced screener for Castlevania’s final season was provided by Netflix in support of this review. Minor spoilers may be present in this review with general spoilers for the Castlevania franchise.
Trevor Belmont and his allies are back for one last battle in Castlevania season four.
As Netflix prepares for the next chapter into their Castlevania adaptation, the current book closes. Trevor & Sypha have been cleaning up the mess left behind from Dracula’s demise. While Allucard is struggling with loneliness and his desire to be more human. Meanwhile, Carmilla is going mad with an endless hunger for power, Isaac has reached an epiphany, Hector wishes for atonement, and big players are attempting to revive Dracula behind the shadows.
Bear witness to the superb finale of Castlevania’s first anime run.
THE GOOD: Season four begins six weeks after the events of the previous season. Trevor and Sypha have been traveling the country cleaning up what’s left of Dracula’s loyalist. They’re grown tired and wary of the endless fighting barely getting any sleep. Allucard has become a shell of himself following the twins’ betrayal. At the same time he wants to maintain his humanity without feeding into his vampiric urges. Saint Germain has become obsessed with reuniting with his former love, so much so that he’s willingly turning his back on all that he believes in.
Carmilla is spreading her forces across Europa in an attempt to gain total control, but her sisters have begun searching for an escape. Isaac has abandoning his quest for revenge in favor of being free. And Hector still shackled by his betrayal wants to atone believing Isaac is coming for him. There’s plenty of threads from the last four seasons that are finally coming to a close in this season and it does so beautifully. As if you hadn’t noticed already I’m being light with major spoilers for this one. It deserves your uninterrupted or slighted attention.
Castlevania has character development up the yin-yang.
So where exactly do I even begin? If you’ve been following the series from the beginning then you’ll know what to expect. However, season four does so much to surpass it’s previous installments that I think people will be stunned by the quality. It’s a genuinely superb divide from seasons 1-3 and I don’t say that lightly. The animation and action are some of the best I’ve ever seen in American animation. The storytelling is as alluring as ever, but my favorite part of season four is the character development.
Holy shit, not even kidding when I say that season four had so much development for nearly a dozen plus characters. It’s almost a miracle they were able to pull off what they were within ten episodes. Literally everyone matters in some regard. From Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard to Carmilla, Germain, Hector, and Isaac. Everyone has their own goals and individual desires. For every how there’s a why and every rhyme there’s a reason. It really showcases the amount of love, passion, and respect that the producers and showrunners have for the IP. And it’s a damn shame that there are so many others who get a hold of these video game IP that they’d rather say “let’s do this but 100% different!” so much so to the point where it completely bastardizes the work in question.
Castlevania doesn’t do that at all. It’s not afraid to be original to itself, but it also never forgets where it came from. I may be getting a tad emotional, but this is a rather important IP to me personally. And I’m sick to death of some people in Hollywood not giving video game adaptations and their fans proper respect. So forgive me for finding Castlevania as a breath of fresh air in that space. I’ve been involved with gaming since I was about six years old and I feel I can realistically say that this series will probably be the hardest video game adaptation to surpass in overall quality ever.
Netflix prepares for the future of Castlevania with an upcoming spinoff.
THE BAD: If I had to say anything bad about Castlevania it’s that this version of the series is saying goodbye. As most of us know a spinoff is on the way with new characters likely adapting different storylines and titles. So bidding Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard farewell is gonna be a bit of a tough one the promo material for that rolls out.
The sun sets on Castlevania for now.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: The final season of Castlevania is perhaps the most complete video game adaptation out today. Packed with action, gore, and character development that would make it’s source material scream with glee. The finale never misses a beat, but the worst part is it leaves you wanting more for the current incarnation. Otaku Dome gives Castlevania season four a 100 out of 100.

The Offworld Author's Book Launch Map is a Step-by-Step Schedule to Publishing your Book.
It’s written by Self-Published Authors, who tell it like it is.
It assumes you have your manuscript professionally edited and ready to move on to the next stage. If not, it really needs to be before you hit The Map.
If you need an Editor to give it the once over for you, do that here.
If you’ve got a great idea but don’t know how to write it (or haven’t got time) have a professional author ghostwrite your book for you. You can do that here.
Beyond that, lay on Macduff
This Map covers Book Design, Book Production, Book Rights, Book Reviews, Book Publishing, Book Publicity, Book Promotion and Social Media, Literary Agent Pitch, Promo Videos, Audiobooks, Translation, Author Websites, Search Engine Optimisation, Screenplay Adaptation, Film Makers, Film Producers and Original Music
Watch the Movie, Read the Map or use the Self Publishing Author's Toolkit, a full complement of Author and Publisher Services and links and shortcuts mentioned in the Map.
Watch the Movie
Read the Map - The Movie Transcript
This Map will take you through the tasks and timelines of taking your Manuscript, Making your Book, Publishing it and Selling it.
Click the map on the right or the progress bars to jump to any of the Five Key Sections or just let the slides roll and take a stroll through the full Timeline.
The fairly sedate pace of the Timeline assumes you have work, maybe some kiddies and a pussycat lurking nearby, fancying a nice warm keyboard.
You’ll see these links from time to time. They’ll take you to where any particular task can be completed for you.
Before we get cracking on the fun stuff, there’s a bit of Admin to do. Trust me, it’ll save you a lot of time and panic later on.
You’ve worked with your Editor to get your manuscript tight. Day 1 is the day after you complete their suggested edits. They should have gone through most of these final checks but just in case ……..
Hello. I’m Astrid and I’ll be walking through this with you
Early Admin
Day 1
Formatting
Make sure your Manuscript is error-free and perfect. Yes, your Editor should have done it for you but, like most other things here, it’s down to you in the end.
Format Paragraphing, Indentations, Make sure you run a Grammar and Spell Check on at least two applications.
Libre Office (Free) is a great tool for this. If you're anything like me and just need to get words on the page without formatting, Libre will take you through it all in double-quick time.
Day 2
Editorial Quotes
If you haven’t already secured this, it’s important to get some positive quotes from your Editor. They know the book really well by now so don’t be shy.
Ask them to underline the things they say with a quote and make sure you add their credentials to it. Needless to say, dropping the fact that someone who does or used to work for a big publisher enhances reader confidence.
Day 3
ISBN Numbers
These are the barcodes that codify your book.
Amazon will supply them for free for your eBook and Paperback but Amazon don’t do hardbacks. So if you are including a hardback, you will need to buy your own. If you prefer your ISBNs to be concurrent, buy three, one for each version.
You can buy these here.
Design
Day 4
Book Cover
You need to engage a professional Book Cover Designer, someone who knows how to match graphics and colours to your book’s genre and demographic. A good designer will read your book for starters to get an idea of all this. They will design your front and back covers and your book’s spine and get you quality high res images all ready to help create your book.
This is where some of the admin starts to pay off because your editorial quotes will go on your back cover. Your designer will add all the standard stuff and when people look at your book on shelf or screen, they will be drawn to check it out a little more closely. Your cover will be formatted for Amazon and all other distributors whether yours is an eBook, paperback or hardback.
Day 5
Internal Design
The design doesn’t stop at the cover. You need to present the same professionalism all the way through your book. Maybe you’d like your chapter title to carry through some of the cover design ideas. Maybe you’d like some closing pages to carry offers or advertising. This will all be handled for you by your designer. Some more of the early admin will pay off here again because your ISBN details will go into the first page.
It will take your Designer about a week to complete this task.
Collateral
Day 12
Blurb
So, you’ve got your beautiful new designs and you’ve got your Editorial Quotes. In this section, you’ll be getting together all the text you’ll be using throughout this process in its various forms. These will be used for flyers, web pages and other publishing and marketing material. Here, we’ll start with the BLURB, your book’s write-up.
A good Blurb should start with a strong hook, mention your book’s keywords in the first paragraph. Present the protagonist(s), present the conflict and the stakes, explain who the book is for (e.g. "If you're a fan of … or … you'll love this fast-paced psychological thriller”). Ask a question, or tease the reader about what happens next. Write it so it excites the reader, they’re intrigued. When you prep your book graphic to create your book, the blurb is normally on the back cover.
Day 14
Start and End Matter
This is all the stuff that accompanies your book’s text. Before chapter one starts, you’ll be adding your Copyright information, you’ll be adding a section on you, the Author. After your final chapter, you’ll be addressing the reader, thank them for reading it and asking them to review your book on Amazon. You’ll be mentioning forthcoming publications and of course, your Blurb will go on the back cover.
Day 16
Review Pitch
Here, you’ll be sending your manuscript to a list of reviewers and beta readers so that by the time it’s up and live on Amazon, they can post reviews and you can start getting stars and solid feedback. The sooner you start this process, the better. Here, we ‘re going to design that pitch material.
First of all, you need to design a flyer. Use your book designer’s graphics to create an image that carries the Blurb and any other details reviewers might find useful such as possible release date (so they can schedule their review).
Next, we’re going to design your email or post. Don’t be spamming these folks randomly. Each email request needs to be addressed to the specific reviewer you’re contacting. Look at people who’ve reviewed books in your genre on Amazon, Goodreads, Booksprout or Bookbub and many others.
See which books they’ve reviewed. Introduce who you are and that you’re releasing your title soon. mention that you’re contacting them because of their review of “book title” by “author” and they might enjoy your book as well.
Add your cut-down Blurb to the email body and offer them a free copy of your manuscript in exchange for an honest review. Tell them a little about your previous book releases or any future releases you’re planning and give them a brief Author Bio as well.
Maybe even mention your favourite read right now. List your ISBN Numbers, Publication Date (if known) and the book’s word count. Provide links to your website and any social media profiles you have and remember, you are not engaging a service, you are requesting a free review from folks who simply love to read.
Be nice and send it out to as many as you can at this pre-published stage.
Day 18
Amazon Data
When it comes time to publish your book on Amazon, you’ll need to be ready with the right Keywords and Categories and Amazon Ads Keywords. So let’s get this set in stone right now.
You can send your manuscript or synopsis off to a professional or you can check out what categories similar titles are using. You can list under two categories on Amazon initially but later, we’ll be showing you how to grow that to ten.
For Keywords and Amazon Ad Keywords, there’s a really useful little tool called KDP Rocket. This simple software will enable you to select the best keywords for your book based on popularity and other factors.
Day 19
Reviews (Again)
If you’re doing what you need to do on Reviews, you’ll be getting emails back from reviewers and sending them your manuscript. Establishing and maintaining your reviewer base will be an ongoing task. Don’t forget to keep a note with any reviews that start rolling in including the reviewer’s name. Add these reviews to your collateral file. They can go into the book when you produce it.
Production
Day 20
Book Files
Right. You’ve done a lot of hard work to get to this point. By now, you’ve got everything you need to create your eBook, Paperback and Hardback files.
Amazon KDP can create the eBook and Paperback files based on your manuscript but if you want to take full control of this process and include the hardback files, you’ll need to find your own software for this or even outsource the whole thing.
Personally, I use Vellum. It’s simple and versatile, and in not too much time at all, it will generate all the files you need to just upload to various online sites and publish your book.
Your eBook file will be called an .epub file and your paperback and hardback files will be .pdf files. Once you’ve pasted all the chapters and graphics and all the front and end matter into Vellum, just ask it to produce all your files and you are away.
Day 21
Audiobooks
Audiobooks are becoming really popular. We’ll cover this later on but just spare a thought for this. For now, though, you’re ready to publish.
Publishing
Day 22
Protection
Hold on there. Let’s make sure you’re protected from plagiarism and anyone pretending they wrote it first.
Register your work and all its artwork with the US Copyright Office at https://www.copyright.gov/registration/ or https://eco.copyright.gov.
You have all the files you need from the admin and collateral sections. This will cost about $55 and take a couple of hours to complete. They will post you your certification inside a few weeks but you are now protected.
Day 23
Publish to Amazon
For the first 30 days, you’ll get a preference position on Amazon. After that 30 days, you’re on your own.
So give yourself a fighting chance. List your book on Pre-release for a month or two and have reviews all ready to be added on release date. It’s also a good time to look at price promotions but we’ll tackle that later.
Log into your KDP account. Go to your Bookshelf and create a new publication. Add your blurb and upload your eBook, Print files and Artwork. You’ll be able to preview it, then set your categories, keywords and set your price.
If you chose KDP Select (you get more royalties), remember you can’t sell your book anywhere else.
Save your book and remember to log your book’s page URL. You’ll be using this link many times later.
Amazon usually takes about 3 days to confirm everything is OK with your formats and your book will now be on pre-order. Chase your reviewers and get some stars rolling in for the first customers that get in on release date.
Day 26
Amazon Profile
Your book has a profile on Amazon just as you do. You will need to complete a few sections: From the Author (your personal notes about the book); From the Back Cover (thank your readers, ask them to review it and mention any upcoming releases).
You’ll be able to add the editorial reviews you got as well and do this for all versions of your book. You can also make sure all versions are linked so readers have all the options.
Then go to Author Central and make sure your own details are up to date.
Day 27
Categories
Earlier on, you made a note of your ideal 10 categories so now contact Amazon and ask them to apply them. Go to “changing book details” and fill out the form.
You’ll need to tell them the Marketplace (US, UK etc) ; the Format, Title and
Amazon’s ASIN number. And of course, you will need to list the category strings you want.
This will take another few days but you’ll get a reply confirming it’s done.
Hardbacks.
Day 30
Hardbacks
As you know, Amazon doesn’t do Hardbacks but you can use someone else like Ingram. When an order comes into Amazon, Ingram will fulfill it.
Go through their process. It’s much like Amazon, wait a couple of days for your proofs, check and approve them. Ingram charges about $49 for this.
Selling
Day 33
Publicity
Develop a Press Release and Sell Sheet and find companies that specialise in getting the word out to news agencies.
Day 34
Advertising
Consider Amazon Ads to get your book seen by more people. Also, consider using Google Adwords for your site.
Start small and make sure your keywords work.
Day 35
Social Media
Start pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Linkedin and many more. Post to your social media platforms and seek out more reviewer pages (yes, the search for reviews will never stop).
Day 37
Price Promotions
As we discussed, the first 30 days on Amazon is key. During that time, it’s a good time to get a handle on Price promotion sites. Again, a professional can handle it all for you as it’s important you get your book accepted in an over-subscribed market.
But if you prefer to do it yourself, just search for some Book Price Promotion sites, see what they cost and note down your preferences.
You’ll drop your price to perhaps 99c or even free for 7 days or so but you will get exposure.
Day 39
Amazon (Again)
On KDP, you’ll go to your Bookshelf and click on “Advertise and Promote.” Choose the Kindle Countdown deal
Day 40
Website
Whether you go with Amazon or other retailers and Distributors, you will need an Author Website. This will be where people can go to find out more about you, comment on your books and chat. They should also be able to subscribe to updates about you and your work.
If you’re a web developer, you know what you’re doing tech-wise. Just make sure it’s all about personality. Readers love to hear about what inspired you, which real-world settings you used, any people they might know who you based your characters on.
If you’re not a web developer, it could take a very long time to do all of this so maybe you should get some help. A simple interactive site doesn’t need to be expensive.
Why not add 3d Mockups of all 3 versions and don’t forget to add you book sale links to your book page.
If you have the budget, get some SEO work done on your site as well, make sure it’s getting found.
Beyond the Map
And that’s that really. But there is a little more…
Beyond the Map.
Translation
If you wrote your book in English, 20% of the planet will be able to read it. Consider expanding it to more like 50-60% by having it translated into Spanish, Chinese and the like.
Video Promos
It’s always useful to have a promo video made of your book and create your own Youtube channel to host it. Explain the book but take the opportunity to introduce yourself and your marketing channels, perhaps in an interview. a good promo gets popular fast.
Podcasts
Another popular way to entertain and deliver your message. A Podcast can follow a similar line to the promo video.
Movies
You’re a published Author. Movie producers love “based on the novel by…” Why not let a few of them know your story or better still, have it adapted to Screenplay format and engage a proper pitch.
Finally...
Don’t forget to monitor sale rates, promotions and ads. Chop and change, see what works and what doesn’t.
And now, after 40 days of this, maybe you can get started on book 2.
Good luck.

A Saving Grace Chapter 1
Grace slammed her fist on the desk, rattling the computer monitor and other office supplies sitting on it.  She pushed away from her computer and leaned back in her chair, groaning at the ceiling. That was the sixth boyfriend in two years who sent a breakup email instead of having the decency to say it to her face. And that didn’t even include the endless parade of first dates that never turned into seconds, or some that didn’t even last past the first hellos.
She was done with Internet dating. And Tinder. And all the other horrible websites out there claiming they were going to find her the perfect husband with their scientifically tested matching algorithms and stupidly sweet commercials. None of this shit worked for women who weren’t the idealized version of the feminine form.
“What’s your problem?” asked the voice beside her.
Grace turned to the thin man sitting at the desk beside her in the open floorplan office.  He pulled off his large headphones and set them on his neck as she frowned. “Do I look like a cave troll, Eli?”
Eli pursed his pillowy lips and tossed back the dark hair that had fallen in his amber colored eyes. He tried looking like a tortured hipster with frayed skinny jeans, plaid button downs with rolled up sleeves, and that ridiculous floppy hair, but there was no hiding that he was just another pretty boy underneath it all. “Only when Aunt Flo visits, baby.”
“Ugh!” She kicked the leg of the table harder than she intended, crunching her toes in her bargain brand heels. “I’m so fucking done with this bullshit. Why’s it so hard to find a man in this godforsaken town?”
Eli looked at her and shook his head. Of course, he didn’t need to answer. She already knew why. That’s what happens to people who live in the most vapid and self-centered place in the world.
He pulled his cell phone from his pocket and lifted it so she could see, pointing a finger at the screen. “Do I need to call Ty and tell him we’re taking our wifey out drinking tonight?”
“No,” Grace said. “I’m just going to hang out with Ben and Jerry tonight.”
“Don’t do that, Graciela!” he cried. “We’ve been doing so good on the food plan!”
Grace huffed. Yeah, well, she started the blasted food plan because her now ex-boyfriend suggested she do it. She didn’t even know why she agreed; she should have known he wasn’t worth it. All her life she’d been rounder, but she’d never really cared about it, even enjoyed having the extra shapeliness. Until him. Until she began realizing all the men she had any interest in wanted an extremely specific body type in their women. Now, however, she knew it was simply due to her choice in men and nothing to do with her. So that meant she either had to lower her expectations in men or live the rest of her life content with vibrators and fantasies.
At least Eli and his husband had agreed to do the diet with her, though neither of them had any weight to lose and simply wanted to sculpt their muscles further. And of course, they’d been spectacularly successful, because they were men. Why did they always get it so easy?
“I’m done with this shit,” she said. “I’m eating all the elotes and frijoles I want, starting this weekend at my mom’s birthday.”
“Now don’t be drastic,” Eli urged, wheeling closer to her. “You’ve put in so much work.”
She suffered the disgusting green smoothies and tasteless boiled chicken breasts for months only to lose two pounds. Grace shook her head. “Nope. I like enjoying food more, thank you very much.”
They were disturbed by Eli’s office phone extension ringing. Grace looked back at her computer screen and the constantly updating Twitter stream scrolling across it. She should get back to work monitoring her accounts, but she just couldn’t make herself do it. Not today. Fuck all these people trying to be something they most certainly were not to impress others. Why had she ever gotten into public relations, anyway?
She groaned and wheeled forward with another grumble under her breath, reaching for the computer mouse, but froze when she heard, “Navarro! Get in my office!”
“Now doesn’t that make my fucking day,” she muttered under her breath. Being called to the boss’s office in that tone of voice did not bode well for her, even though she always made sure her work was impeccable. What was he planning to yell at her for now?
Her boss, Dave, always found reasons to pick at her work or created traps to trip her up. In the beginning, she ignored it because public relations was hard in Hollywood—one of the most difficult fields in the entertainment industry. Emotions ran high and everyone was expected to be on their A-game every single minute of every single hour they were on the clock… and honestly, even when they were off the clock. Their clients’ careers depended on it, after all. She understood his picking in the beginning. As time marched on, though, with men promoted before her and hired after with less education and skill, plus the shit always seeming to land on her head when something went south, she was at a breaking point. And that didn’t even include the number of times he sent her on coffee runs or asked her to make copies when his male assistant was perfectly capable. Dave was nothing more than a sexist pig.
Grace stood up from her desk and smoothed the sheer blouse over her stomach, making sure it was still tucked into the waist of her pencil skirt.  She bent to look in the little mirror she and Eli kept between them and breathed in a sigh. At least she wasn’t crying after the email, or it would have destroyed her makeup. She refused to give Dave the pleasure of seeing evidence of her emotions smeared all over her face.
She quickly moved across the office floor and stopped in front of Dave’s door, knocking lightly and letting herself inside the room. Dave sat at the round meeting table inside with another man who was probably in his late forties, good looking with graying hair. She’d never seen him before. He smiled brightly and stood up to greet her.
“Fred Wellington, Grace Navarro,” Dave introduced with a curt nod between them. “Sit down, Navarro.”
She shot him a pointed frown and pulled a seat out. “What’s wrong?”
Dave sat forward and folded his hands over a thick file. “Fred is Henry Cavill’s agent, here on behalf of Henry’s manager, Dany Garcia.”
“Ooookay,” Grace said, dragging out the word.
She knew about Henry Cavill. Everyone knew about Henry Cavill and what had happened to the once Golden Boy of the DC movies universe. He had an appalling interview with an unscrupulous journalist who published audio for a very large pay day. The things that were said in the interview were career and character suicide, whether the audio was heavily edited or not, and whether the journalist purposely backed Cavill into a corner to get the incriminating answers she wanted. In PR terms, he was dead in the water and needed resuscitation.
His previous PR agency dropped him, which led them to her company, Elite Solutions PR, in the hope of recovering his image. Being such a high-profile person, Dave placed the account with his senior staff, not with her, a lowly social media specialist. She hadn’t heard much about the plans to bring his career back to life after the initial intake.
“Ms. Navarro, nice to meet you.” Fred smiled kindly and stretched his hand out to shake hers. At least Fred seemed like a decent guy.
Dave blustered and patted his tie down a slightly protruding beer gut.
 Grace smiled back. “You, too.”
“Fred and I have been talking about the targeted campaign we’ve put together for his client’s reintroduction to the public,” Dave explained. “Since Warner Brothers decided to keep him on as Superman, they want to use the Justice League promo tour to help springboard a new image.”
She nodded, trying not to hope this was Dave offering her a promotion. As much as she could use the boost in pay and an office of her own—with windows—she didn’t want this one because Dave would micromanage the shit out of her. “Why don’t you just send him to rehab like everyone else who needs an image reboot? People love comeback stories.”
Fred sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “We’ve floated that to him, but he refuses.”
 “It worked with Affleck—”
“Right, but it works in Ben’s favor because he plays Bruce Wayne. Superman is a golden hearted country boy and a stint in rehab doesn’t suit the image, which WB then agreed with. And his business manager didn’t like it either. It’s why we’re here and signing with Elite. Our previous PR fired him because he wouldn’t accept that media plan.”
So on top of being a chauvinistic idiot stuck in the 50s, he’s stubborn as fuck. Great.
“I’m not understanding why you need me, Dave. I’m just a social media specialist,” Grace said.
Dave cleared his throat. “We’re getting there, Navarro.”
She flattened her lips into a line. Double great, she thought. From his tone of voice alone, she knew she wasn’t going to like what he had to say.
“Henry has, however, agreed to play the long game. To be better in interviews and follow the guidance of his PR assistant in future interactions with the public,” Fred explained.
“We’re planning to get him in at several charity functions along the publicity tour to bolster the positive side of his image,” Dave explained. “That’s in addition to a few puff pieces we’ve hand selected to give him the best coverage. When it comes to film-specific interactions, we will yield to WB’s publicist, but our firm will always be represented.”
Grace understood. “So you’re sending him a babysitter.”
Dave’s beady shit brown eyes narrowed. “Precisely, Navarro. And you’re the babysitter.”
“Excuse me?” she asked.
Fred gave her a tight smile. “He doesn’t have a personal assistant at the moment, either, so I thought whoever Dave selected for the position might take on a few of those tasks for the promo tour to cut cost. It’ll keep him out of trouble—away from clubs, women and alcohol. At least until this all blows over.”
Grace puffed up her cheeks and blew out a long stream of air. “With all due respect, the man practically lives in a club. How do you think you’re going to keep him out of one?”
 “That’s your job,” Dave said.
“And I am also a woman,” she replied. And I fucking love tequila.
Dave glanced over at her, his eyes slithering down her body and back up to her face. He made his point without having to say anything, just like Miranda Priestly did to Andi Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada. She needed a scalding shower to clean off the slime now on her skin.
 “If I refuse?” Grace asked.
“I’ll expect your resignation on my desk in the morning, then,” Dave replied.
She rolled her eyes. What choice did she have anyway? It was fucking impossible to get your foot in the door at an agency like this anywhere in Los Angeles. She didn’t have the funds to move elsewhere in the world to a location with a high demand for publicists, and she certainly needed the funds she did have to pay her bills here. And then there was the matter of starting all over again, from the ground up, with no family or friends to help in a distant location. She sure as hell wasn’t about to do that with another boss who could be worse than Dave.
Grace sank back into her seat and glanced across the table at Fred, who still looked apologetic about Dave’s behavior. At least there was someone with a little heart in this industry.
“What about my other accounts?” she asked. She had no other suitable objections to the work but those.
“We’ll split them between Elijah and Lachlan,” Dave said. “Your soul responsibility for the next two months is Cavill—make sure he stays on the straight and narrow and don’t let other people goad him into spouting off again.”
She locked her jaw and gave him a swift, curt nod. She could do it; what could possibly be so hard about shepherding a wayward movie star? She just wished that someone else had been assigned the task. PR assistant was one thing, but they also wanted her to be part personal assistant. Knowing that Dave thought so little of her contribution to the office that he was willing to assign her a task rife with picking up dry cleaning and grocery shopping set her teeth on edge. Or maybe he had the greatest amount of trust in her that she’d do the job so well, that he felt comfortable giving her the responsibility?
Grace looked at the balding man again. No, he didn’t trust her. Couldn’t possibly. She didn’t have the necessary appendage. But she was a woman, so he must have figured she’d be good at getting coffee and cleaning up after an arrogant actor.
“When do I start?” she asked.
Fred smiled. “Tomorrow morning. Say… ten? You can dress casually, though. No need for business attire…”
…when you’re running around doing errands.
Yeah, she knew what he meant.
“Great,” she replied and turned to Dave. “If you’ll excuse me, I have some work to finish off if I’m handing my accounts over before I leave.”
Dave waved her off without another thought.  She nodded at Fred and beat a hasty retreat out of his office. She went directly for Eli’s desk and held her hand out, wiggling her fingers. “I need a cigarette.”
“Okay, I’m definitely not letting you have one of those,” he said, looking up at her. “You told me never to let you have another one when you quit last year.”
“But I need one,” she groaned. “My life has just turned to shit in a half hour and I need something. Anything.”
 Eli squinted. “That bad, huh?”
Grace groaned and raked a hand through her long black-brown hair. Her fingers snagged on a tangle deep in the voluminous tresses. She winced. “Please.”
He reluctantly pulled out his latest pack and stuck one in her hand with the rainbow-colored lighter. Eli was never one for subtlety. “Don’t come crying to me because you’re hooked again.”
She rolled her eyes and darted through the office for the exit leading to the outdoor smoking area. Even before she flicked the wheel on the butane lighter, she felt the tingle and burn of smoke filling her lungs, the eventual long pull relaxing her frayed nerves. God, she needed one of these.
Grace sucked in another mouthful, resting her back against the brick façade of their first-floor office. The heat of the sun had baked the red bricks throughout the day, which in turn heated her back and scratched against her body like a five-hundred-dollar hot stone massage, which she definitely didn’t have the money for, so it was nice to lean there and enjoy the sensation. Small pleasures and all that.
She turned her face up to the clear blue sky and hot sun. Sometimes living in SoCal had a lot of negatives like superficiality and traffic, but warmth in October was definitely a positive. It wouldn’t be this warm in the other places she would be traveling in the coming months; she figured it was worth it now to soak it all up. Why she even considered leaving LA a few minutes ago confused her. Between the sunny days and her family, she couldn’t imagine living any other place in the world.
A clearing throat made her turn her head.  She blinked away the sun, allowing her pupils time to adjust to the shadow on her left. Fred was standing just outside the door, his hands in his pockets. He was taller than her, not by much, but he still gave her a feeling that he was powerful. Except he was also soft spoken and one of those men who didn’t need to raise his voice to be heard.
“I’m sorry for intruding,” he said. “I wanted to talk with you a little more.”
“About?” she asked, raising a brow at him. Her objective with their mutual client was simple: mollycoddle the hell out of him and don’t let him talk to anyone.
He smiled. “About your new charge.”
Grace dropped her shoulders and pushed away from the wall. She snuffed out her cigarette in the ashtray to her right and stepped into the shade. Dark skin or not, she wasn’t in the mood to deal with skin cancer.
“He’s a decent guy. I know what you must have heard about the story and it doesn’t paint that type of picture,” Fred said, “but I’ve never known him to be like that—with me or with women. Sometimes, though, he has word vomit. He’s almost… socially awkward, you know?”
She nodded. Even though she’d worked in this business for five years and met a lot of famous people who always seemed to have it all, there was always something that they were desperate to overcome or hide. It’s why they hired publicists—to hide or minimize their brokenness or their problems. The public wanted perfection. They wanted to live their lives in dream worlds and fantasies based on these people who supposedly had it all. Unfortunately, the public usually didn’t get to see just how fucked up their idols’ lives were because of people like her.
“He’s been my client for ten years now. He’s good people and I want to see him succeed, not just because he’s my star right now,” Fred said.
She heard his earnestness. Fred was a good guy, whether he was a cutthroat in the industry or not. “I understand.”
He coughed into his hand and stepped forward. “And I want to make sure that you’ll do your best. Dave can be—”
“Yeah, I know,” she said. “But he’s the best fixer in this industry.”
 “Definitely.”
 Grace sighed. “Mr. Wellington—”
 “Fred,” he corrected.
“Fred.” She really did like him. He didn’t give off the air of sleaziness that so many in this town did. “I plan to do my job to the best of my abilities. Believe me.”
And it was the truth. Even though she despised the reason for being placed in this role, she never shirked her responsibilities. She worked hard and took pleasure in hard work. Life was hard, too, but it could have been harder if she didn’t have such a strong ethic. Sometimes, though, it was a lot to handle all at once. By tomorrow morning, after having some time to cool down and re-center herself, she had little doubt she would perform admirably.
Fred smiled again, looking her over, from feet to head, but it wasn’t in the smarmy way Dave had done in the office. This appraisal was one of measurement—measuring everything about her that wasn’t physical, if he could do such a thing by judging her exterior. “Have you had a chance to meet Dany Garcia, yet? She’s Henry’s business manager.”
 “Unfortunately, no,” she said.
“But you have heard of her before today?”
“Oh, yeah,” Grace replied with a nod. Dany was Dwayne Johnson’s ex and his wildly successful business partner with her own powerful management firm. “Who hasn’t? She’s created an empire.”
“That she has,” Fred said. “You remind me of her. You have the same chutzpah. I think when you meet her and the team, you’ll hit it off. She didn’t come today because she can’t stand Dave, so she asked me to do the dirty work.”
Grace laughed at his explanation. “I’m sorry you had to deal with it, too.”
The man shrugged and stepped closer to her as though they were conspiring on some great plot. “Play your cards right, and I’ll make sure Dany finds a position for you on her team after the tour.”
 “Are you serious?”
“As a heart attack.” He grinned and reached into his suit coat for a business card. Then he offered it to her. “If you need anything at all, please call my direct line. They have the dossier and all your information inside, but someone from Dany’s office will meet you at Henry’s tomorrow morning.”
Grace looked at the card and ran her finger over the raised lettering and expensive linen cardstock. She looked up and offered her hand again. “Thank you, Fred.”
“No problem, Grace,” he said and stepped away from her, toward the sidewalk that would lead him to the parking lot. “Remember, I’ll be watching you.”
She saluted him as he strode away. He drove off in a shiny Mercedes. Finally, she sighed and looked at the watch on her wrist. “I guess break’s over.”
At least, she thought as she opened the door into her office, the afternoon wasn’t a total waste. It was enough to get her back to her computer to close shop for the foreseeable future. The only problem left was breaking it to Eli that she wasn’t going to be around as much.

Specific niche: Ecom
Exactly how to Make $5K an Hour Selling on Amazon.com (Part 1)
You have actually seen the headlines and the information and also the tales across the board. Marketing on Amazon.com makes some people as well as brands a lot of money.
That's because Amazon.com is a selling behemoth, attracting virtually 50% of all on-line item search website traffic, with greater than 70% of all U.S. consumers having purchased from Amazon.com in the last 6 months.
Allow's just state that when ScriptVocalizer customers end up on Amazon.com, they are extremely near to being ready to take out their credit card (or simply one-click pay).
In total, Amazon.com's share of the ecommerce market is expected to strike 50% by 2021. That remains in just a short 2 years.
And the variety of third-party sellers on Amazon.com (i.e. vendors that are not Amazon) remains to increase, even as Amazon launches added product lines of its very own.
There is no better time than today to launch your brand on Amazon or to grow your brand existence and profits through Amazon.com.
Let's dive into why-- and the how.
Obtain Enthusiastic-- Amazon is a Substantial Chance
Amazon is the future. It's time to get on board and also delighted regarding it.
Don't simply make Amazon part of a development technique.
Make it the development method for your company.
I've worked with an antique producer that has stayed in business for numerous generations. Within 18 months they were marketing more on Amazon than via their traditional networks.
How did they do ScriptVocalizer?
They didn't mess around when it involved offering on Amazon.
They threw their whole product on Amazon.com, determined the services they needed to contract out as well as created new internal processes particularly for Amazon.
According to current sector numbers and Statista, Amazon.com is the leading ecommerce merchant in the U.S. with near to 178 billion UNITED STATE dollars in 2017 internet sales.
The majority of Amazon's earnings is created via ecommerce sales of electronics as well as various other products, adhered to by third-party vendor incomes, membership services, as well as AWS activities.
Allow's check out a couple of statistics:
Electronics & media is the most relevant classification with a net sales share of over 50%
Furnishings and also devices are the 2nd even more bought item at 18.85%, complied with by food & personal care at 14%, toys, leisure activities & DIY at 12.5% and also fashion at 3.4%
Over 80% of net sales are created in the USA.
Canada, the UK, China and also Australia are also large markets at 1.5%, 1.2%, 1.7% and also 1.7% specifically.

23.73% of Amazon's ScriptVocalizer website traffic is with search
Amazon.com's internet sales profits in 2017 covered $177 Billion, a 30% rise from 2016
With 53% of Amazon's products being offered with third-party stores, and also with a double-digit sales profits rise YoY, Amazon.com is an excellent wager to expand your bottom line.
Right here's exactly how.
Establish Your Marketing Method
There are two methods to offer via Amazon.com:
Market straight to Amazon.com
Offer on Amazon.com yourself
Allow's break each of these down as well as take a look at a pair study so you can identify which is best for you.
1. Offer directly to Amazon.
Don't try to beat Amazon at its very own video game.
Amazon is expanding its direct directory, so swim with the tide-- not versus it.
Besides Amazon becoming your client instead of your rival, marketing straight to Amazon.com removes the work brand-new sellers are worst at, i.e. forecasting and also advertising your item become Amazon.com's duty.
EDITOR'S KEEP IN MIND
The promo of your ScriptVocalizer products remains your brand name's obligation unless you pay Amazon to do it for you.
According to James Thomson, former head of Marketing on Amazon.com,
" If you offer to Amazon.com, Amazon doesn't advertise anything unless you step up and pay large advertising and marketing bucks. Advertising your brand name stays your duty."
Also, numerous items sold by Amazon.com sell for more as well as much faster, all things being equivalent. There will certainly be a margin distinction for FBA vendors that are not completing versus Amazon.com here.
In other words, selling one-of-a-kind goods on Amazon.com presently not currently offered there is exactly how you make the most margin.
Re-read the chapter about why re-selling is the least practical technique to Amazon success to comprehend why this is.
So, let's see: selling directly to Amazon places you on the best side of the future, is much easier as well as leads to much more sales.
Bear in mind; this does not mean it is best for everyone, but it definitely is an option.
One Seller's Development with Marketing to Amazon:
2. Offer on Amazon on your own.
This isn't [always] a contradiction to the previous area.
Beginning by marketing on Amazon yourself if you find it simpler to obtain up and also going, or utilize this to match your sales to Amazon.
Marketing on Amazon.com together with marketing to Amazon maintains Amazon.com truthful and doesn't enable the whims of their formula to bring about stockouts of your items.
Selling to Amazon also enables you to jump-start sales of new ScriptVocalizer products by giving Amazon's robots the confidence they require to start bringing it in themselves.
EDITOR'S KEEP IN MIND
This method is not advised for most sellers, specifically vendors that are novice to marketing on Amazon.
Consult an Amazon expert before utilizing this approach.
A Study: Exactly How to Offer to-- and on-- Amazon.com:
A sheet steel factory in the industrial space wished to come out with a line of customer items to market on Amazon.com.
Based upon some general searches on Amazon.com for sheet steel items as well as knowing the limitations of their machinery, they developed a basic folding work bench to be utilized in stuffed garages and sheds.
It was made with the devices they currently had, equipment they were already getting and also sheet metal they already equipped.
Their initial manufacturing run was 4 devices.
Yup, 4.
The complete price of labor and materials was much less than lots of people's once a week grocery store bill.
They put up an Amazon.com listing and also marketed two devices in the first week.
Real Amazon Listing Taken Quickly After Item Went Live.
After that very first week and also with lifetime sales of only 2 devices, the sellers, that had created an account to offer directly to Amazon, supplied the item straight to Amazon.com.
The cost offered to Amazon was similar to the net quantity the ScriptVocalizer company obtained from Amazon.com when marketing through Vendor Central.
Because selling commission and shipping expenses were no longer part of the equation, the vendors could sell their product to Amazon for considerably much less than $149.95 without in fact cutting right into their margin.
Within a week of submitting the product, the firm got an order from Amazon for five systems.
Although Amazon's Order Had Not Yet Shipped They Still Promoted the Item.
Regardless of only two sales, the product transferred to the 3rd result in appropriate key phrases, in a similar placement to things with as many as 138 testimonials.
Obviously, a sale of five things to Amazon.com is tiny time, but the idea of going from item idea to the top of the rankings on Amazon.com in a few weeks is feasible.
It is highly uncommon, however it is doable.
Exactly How to Generate Income on Amazon-- List:
Determine what things make good sense for you to market on/to Amazon.com.
Examine if the ScriptVocalizer things are currently sold on Amazon.com. Examine interest as well as competitors.
Assemble the needed info to submit those items to Amazon.com. Gather pictures, feature information, and also descriptions.
Recognize the processes an Amazon order will certainly comply with.
Search for and also execute software application services that simplify these steps.
Contract out any jobs that are not currently carried out and core to your company.
Produce and also record procedures.
Send the item data to Amazon (Seller Central or Supplier Express).
Refine order.Practice makes ideal. Examination, learn as well as repeat to aid drives sales.
Technique makes perfect. Test, discover as well as iterate to assist drives sales.

_____________________________________________________________________________
“You can’t take her.” Jennifer is walking up and down in Kathryn’s office. She arrived here right after you had left, ready to plan to thrip to New York, as well as the upcoming project. Kathryn shifts her focus from her hand to her manager and huffs.
“NO. Kathryn, no. You know it yourself. First of all, she is a distraction. Yes, you like her, I KNOW, but this is not you. This is not how you do your job.” Jennifer looks at her boss with pleading eyes.
Running her fingers through her long mane, Kathryn bites the insides of her cheek. “you’re right, I know you are, but at the same time…”
“NO BUTS, Kathryn.” Jennifer interrupts her, prompting Kathryn to shoot her a short glare.
“…but at the same time I haven’t been this happy in years.” Thinking back at the time you spent with her, a small smile creeps onto her face.
Jennifer gets it. She understands Kathryn’s point, but as her manager it’s her job to secure the actress’ job, which is why she needs to make sure there are as few distractions from work as possible included in the trip.
Placing a hand on her arm, Jennifer looks at Kathryn with warm eyes. “Sweetie, I know you don’t like it. I don’t like it either, because I know how good the time with her is for your heart. But we can’t have this. Not now. Not during your shining moment. Yeah?”
Slowly but surely, Kathryn starts to nod as she can feel the sadness rise in her chest.
Meanwhile, you and Alex are having the same conversation back in your room. She tries to talk sense into you and talks animatedly to her phone, as you try to find a way to accompany Kathryn.
“Honey, you simply can’t. There is no way. It’s during the exam phase. You can’t be abroad for that.” She shakes her head.
Considering your options, you try to talk against her. “I could ask for online exams.”
“… there is a multiple hour time difference - you can’t be serious, Y/N.”
“I could postpone exams?” You raise an eyebrow.
Alex shakes her head harder now. “NO GIRL. No. Kathryn wouldn’t want you screwing up your education for this. You have leftover classes, exams to write and then you’ll have to write term papers you have to prepare for,” you take a visible breath. “Yes love, I am aware you could write those on set but we all know you wouldn’t. It’s better for you to stay.”
You want to argue. You really do. But there are a few things holding you back. First of all, you know Alex makes a valid point. Second of all, you don’t even know where you are standing with Kathryn. What are you to her? What is happening with her? The lines are so blurry that it’s hard for you to see, so you think it might be better not to assume and make a fuss about all of it.
Lastly, you don’t even know if she wants to have you by her side in the first place, because, again, it’s not like she is your girlfriend or anything. Not that you wouldn’t want her to be.
So, just like Kathryn does with Jennifer, you agree to what Alex says and make your decision to stay, even though it hurts your heart just as much as it hurts hers.
Given the fact, that she has to leave for New York right the next morning, it’s not possible for you to see her again. You think back at the soft kiss she planted on your lips as you left her house under yesterday’s hot afternoon sun. You feel so good with her and you can’t stop to think back at how beautiful her eyes look up close - even more beautiful than on all her pictures that Alex and you have been sending back and forth whenever Kathryn did a new promo shoot.
It’s late afternoon as you’re lying on your bed and stare at the ceiling, a random Marvel movie running in the background.  Alex has been trying to hype you up all day, but, given the fact that Kathryn is gone for an unforeseen time, you still feel sad.
You turn off the movie because you can’t seem to concentrate and connect your phone to the speakers to play some music. You remember that you can sit on your windowsill that’s facing the backyard and and decide to sit down and watch the birds in the tree outside your window as you open Spotify and it starts playing the last song you stopped on. “She” by dodie fills the room and you don’t think you related to a song like that ever before.
It really describes the feelings of uncertainty that you have right now. It doesn’t help that you never really took the chance to talk to her about all of not. Not properly, at least. This mistake leaves you with this endless feeling of emptiness that seems like it’s eating you up from the inside as you don’t even know if she feels the same in any way.
Your phone chimes and you nearly fall off the windowsill as you shoot up to reach for it. It’s the group chat you thought had died a while ago that you joined right after Kathryn appeared on Wandavision.
Apparently, news of Kathryn’s casting already sank through and everyone is screaming about it. Unwilling to share any knowledge, and also way too careful with it, you want to put your phone away as it chimes again and your eyes widen.
You immediately click the message.
“New York is wild! Haven’t had time to get to you yet. Seems like everyone and their mom wants to speak to me today. Just left my second meeting and now I have to leave for a work dinner in a few. How’s the day going back home? xxx K.”
A bright smile creeps onto your face as you realize she uses the “everyone and their mom” phrase that you use so much whenever you describe difficult situations to her. You decide not to reply immediately - you don’t want her to assume you are sitting on your phone just waiting for her.
Instead you opt to create some art and grab your supplies. There is an empty canvas behind your bed and you feel like there are enough feelings trapped in you to create something cool on it.
Your mom works long on Mondays, so you haven't realized just how much time has passed as you perform the last of the night and call it a day. Your picture is colorful. Very much so. The acrylic paint hasn’t even dried yet, but there are already tons of ideas floating around in your head about what to do with the artwork from here on out. Maybe you should get some fine liners and work out the edges, maybe do some highlighting as well, you don't know yet.
Just as you want to put the brush aside your phone lights up on your bed. You can't pick it up just now because the slowly drying paint sticks to your fingers and you anxiously reach for the closest paper towel to white it off as best as you can. Not expecting anything, you finally reach for your phone and pick up the call before reading the name - an automatic reaction to late night calls from Alex.
You are greeted by a very familiar, yet unexpected, face. Kathryn smiles into the camera and adjusts the lights around her. She is clearly in her pjs, with no make up on, her hair open and messy, falling off her shoulder. You can see she is wearing a loose gray shirt and your whole body starts tingling as you realize it's the shirt she gave you to sleep in last weekend. Immediately, your brain runs wild and you try to figure out if she packed this exact shirt on purpose or just grabbed the one that was available easiest as she was probably in a rush.
Luckily, Kathryn interrupts your train of thought. “Hey! Hiya hon! I just wanted to check in. Make sure you’re alright because you haven’t replied to my message.”
For the first time you look at the clock. It’s 8.30pm and you haven’t had dinner yet.
“Shit.”, you mutter and your hand flies to cover your mouth immediately.
Kathryn, who hasn’t heard your muttering, looks confused. “Sweetheart, is everything alright?”
You smile thankfully. “Yes! Yes it is. I guess I was just wrapped up in my art and you pulled me out of it and I always need a minute to adjust. I’m fine. It’s late though and I haven’t eaten yet. Thank you for reminding me.”
“Good. Do you want me to order you pizza or something. Because I totally would.” She reaches for a notepad.
“Alright Mom…” she looks at you for a moment and you can’t tell if she is shocked or amused or anything really because she stopped reacting completely and just stares at you. Right when you are about to start panicking about the situation she bursts into laughter.
“I mean I’M SORRY. How dare I offer pizza.” She continues laughing. You love this. This is easy and light and you realize once again just how much you enjoy her company. Gosh, you miss her already.
You remember her message as you make your way downstairs. “How was dinner, Kathryn? And the rest of your day? Tell me about it!”
For the next 10 minutes, as you prepare your own dinner, she tells you about her day and the plans for the next few weeks. The two of you laugh and make jokes and for a moment it seems like both of you have forgotten that you won’t see each other for a while. After she finishes talking, you fall into a comfortable silence and just look and smile at each other for a moment.
“I like you, you know?” She is the one to interrupt the silence. “Spending time with you makes me really happy and I’m sad you can’t come to Europe with me. I need you to know. I wish I could’ve taken you with me.”
Your heart melts and your hands start to shake as you realize Kathryn might indeed feel the same way. You put the knife, that’s in your hand from making dinner, aside. You’re unable to answer right away and fight for the right words, so she continues on with her short monologue.
“I just wanted to call tonight to check in and see how you are doing since I had to kick you out so abruptly last night and maybe we can do this from time to time, check in on each other? I would love that.”
Check in on each other? Why is she so vague all the time? For a moment you thought she’d confess her feelings for you but here you are again, uncertain of what she really thinks about you. You smile, though, and try to keep it calm because you don’t want her to get annoyed with you already.
You realize it’s getting close to 9pm, which means it should be about midnight at her place. Taking responsibility, you send her off to sleep and have a short dinner followed by some reading yourself.
Before Kathryn hangs up, she promises you to call again before leaving for Europe completely. She also wants to know if you want a souvenir from NYC (why is she so cute?) and tells you to call her anytime you need something or someone. With that, she shoots you the brightest smile and leaves you to it.
The ecstatic feeling you felt when you talked to her fades quickly as you come down from the call. Suddenly, your home feels all quiet and lonely and the silence is killing you. You walk back up to your room to sit on your bed and stare out of your window to enjoy the night sky. The tree right next to your room is slowly moving in the wind as its branches scratch the glasses surface.
You decide to call it a day as the week ahead is full of work and school and the weekend was eventful, so you change into comfy clothes and get ready for bed immediately. You fall onto your bed a few minutes later just as your phone lights up again.
"Good night, Sweetheart. It was great seeing your face. xxx K."
