You had to have the worst luck with guys. Which is why you ended up going to your cousin's wedding with Soonyoung, the last person on earth you would have chosen. You had been together and not together more times then you could count, resulting in blurring the line between love and hate.

And finally, you hated how after too many prying life questions from your relatives and one too many drinks, you had ended up in Soonyoung’s bed.

Any thoughts you had of leaving right then and there were drowned out the minute he laid over you, latching his lips on yours. Clothes had been pulled off, leaving the two of you naked in the soft sheets.

OMG I LOVE RDJ Holmes, and it's so BEAUTIFUL. The first one came out in 2009, and Sherlock came out in 2010, so yes, RDJ Holmes was first, and I fell in love with that one first (I got into Sherlock in 20...13? Just before season 3). The two RDJ films are still a couple of my faves, and there's been talks for YEARS for a third one (I know both RDJ and Law want to do it, but I think the problem is all the issues plaguing WB...)

AND OMG the BEST PART?? Law literally shamed a reporter for calling their relationship a bromance; I think they BOTH want the third one to be an explicit queer relationship, but I think the big hurdle is the studio interference and (BEFORE 2023) was the remaining copyrights not having expired. NOW that all the ACD canon is public domain, the big hurdle is the WB.

Anyway, I love them, SO MUCH. I ship them SO hard, and now I think I'm gonna go rewatch the movies because they're SO beautiful. I love them to bits.

Since it's been over a decade since the last one, I would LOVE SH3 to explore them older and together. I think that would be lovely.

So I'm listening to the Nutcracker ballet music, and I thought about this IF as well as I was writing the previous ask recently.

And, I'm well aware WWC will include Halloween. I cannot wait for Imre's party. If it's a costume party (which would make sense, and it's what I would love to see), I would love to have the option to use an Indiana Jones costume. And yes, this is because of my MC name Indiana and the possible conversation with Imre that could result from that. That said, I'm well aware it would be an extra effort to include it, and I don't hope for it to be present. It would be unfair for most people who didn't name their MC Indiana. Of course, there could still be dialogue about an Indiana Jones costume. Yet, I don't know if that could result on Copyright issues or not, so maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that at all. Sorry.

Anyway, that was an unnecessary deviation from what I wanted to talk about.

Would we get to experience Christmas in either season 1 or 2? I'm almost positive Season 1 would end before December, but I'm not entirely sure.

I ask mainly because Christmas is due to be dramatic. Like, I cannot imagine it not being dramatic for the Crowns. No, that's a lie. I can see it not being dramatic only if it's very underwhelming. In the sense that they basically don't celebrate. Which would be a reasonable expectation with their money problems and overall unhealthy relationships.

But there's so much potential for drama. If not with the family, at least with the RO's. Mainly because it's the kind of holiday people question a lot about their own lives. So it would make sense for the RO's and MC to doubt, or finally understand, what they feel for the other. As well as potential gift giving/Christmas dinner shenanigans where MC visits the house of an RO (which would never happen as long as Sally is alive, haha...).

Now I remember Thanksgiving is a thing. However, WWC is not that clear if it's set on the US or in Canada. And I think both have different dates for the holiday (I admit I'm an ignorant when it comes to this matter, I don't have any intimate friend who is from these countries). So you could get a similar result with a Thanksgiving dinner, I guess?

I probably still would prefer Christmas, for universality sake. And because I like the a aesthetic of snow.

And like, it's easier to twist Christmas into horror than Thanksgiving. Which is a moot point, if you don't plan to include it. But still.

Yeah for the costumes I'm thinking of going very classic and thus very general

And this season in December but before Christmas so no Halloween here, perhaps in season 2 but that depends on how long it takes me to write that season and by that I mean how long time passes in-universe. Yeah so Thanksgiving is in different months in Canada and the US so I can't really do it.

I get the allure of a spooky christmas but it's such a traditional spook that it's already been done before. For the Crowns, Christmas is underwhelming, they don't really celebrate it anymore and like I said the plot ends before the 25th

like... you can just go ahead and pirate shit (especially when we live in an age where corporations will deliberately remove stuff from streaming to avoid royalties and stuff will just vanish overnight akdsajkdaj), you don't need to act like one of the few protections creatives have (flawed tho it very definitely is, especially re the imbalance in favour of the rich corporations) should be done away with just because you find it inconvenient

i have a genuine question about your comments on copyright laws and the assertion that it is bordering on punitive justice. i am not an expert on copyright laws and the only legal jurisdictions i am acquianted with are the UK and a SE Asian one, so i am ignorant of how copyright laws operate in the US. you've also said that landlady doesn't have to "get the authorities involved" in relation to the drawing issue. do copyright laws in the US carry a criminal punishment or is it purely a civil law matter?

"get the authorities involved" is a bit of colloquial slang where i'm from and can mean anything from getting police involved to just talking to lawyers/judges. probably not my best wording i won't lie. copyright lawsuits are often expensive and rely on having a lot of money! i don't think either person in this scenario has the money for it? not to be harsh, its just a bit... ehh. im not a bar certified lawyer, there's not much i can say here.

when i say punitive justice, it's not in a legal sense. i am moreso referring to the idea of trying to "punish" someone for doing something people have decided as a misdeed. like trying to make people face harsh consequences and whatever. i think trying to make this guy face losing his job and legal fines is like... a bit vengeful? idk! i think giving him the benefit of the doubt wouldve been nicer. going straight to "we need to make sure this guy hurts the way we are hurt" doesn't seem very helpful in the long run to me. nor is bringing in the legal system! couldve started this whole ordeal with "who is this guy, and why is he doing this? how much money is he making? how is he making these paintings?" etc instead of straight into "landlady should DEFINITELY sue." also just the idea and implications morality and what is right/wrong needs to be predicated on whats defined by the law doesn't really sit right with me... ah. who knows. less about this guy in particular and more about just in general. i think people should be kinder. such is the zeitgeist of 2020s tumblr. c'est la view or whatwver

Oh shit son OK let’s do this:

1 - Full Name and Relevance ©I fucking love this question. Colm hates his full name /and/ there’s family tradition involved. The first Blackmore child in each generation takes the name of their paternal grandmother/father as their first name and the name of their maternal grandparent as their middle name. I have like the whole tree worked out for a few generations, but Colm’s full name is ‘Colmanus Archibald Blackmore’ (as their only paternal aunt/uncle is single, they’re by default the oldest Blackmore kids). He can’t stand the full name and only his immediate family know it, so I was planning to make it a major part of his character development.

2 - What hobby would they like to be good at? (L)Well to be honest most of Lorelei’s waking hours are devoted to magical study, and, like Colm, she doesn’t really have much interest in becoming a cooper - she’d probably try her hand at gardening, I suppose? It enables a cathartic kind of order, but if things go wrong it’s still definitely flammable.

3 - If they played DnD what class and race would they pick? ©Colm firmly believes in old-school notions of heroism and adventuring, so one of the four original classes. He’d probably be a little uncomfortable playing cleric unless he stuck by Pelor, but I reckon he’d like the versatility of fighters in 5e. As for race, he’d almost certainly be a dwarf - he’s proud of what little dwarven he knows, and their interests definitely align.

4 - If they could go back in time and change one thing? (L)Depends where in her timeline we’re going from. I was planning to only play her upon Colm’s death, so obviously that - but if we’re going from before that, it’s a little trickier. Her attachment to her mother wasn’t all that strong, so I doubt she’d alter that - I think if anything, she’d probably try and spend more time with her uncle Edward before his death? She was quite close to him, but didn’t get to see him much, and given the change in her father’s personality afterwards, she’d probably want to have a better understanding of why that came about.

5 - What is their favourite weapon to wield? ©Boy is Colm ever partial to a good maul - he’ll take anything really though, be it fists, chair legs, or even other people. If it can bludgeon, he’s not fussy.

6 - If you could give them one magic item? (L)Man this question required some thought because she’d love to get her hands on all of them really. Every sadistic bone in my body says Bag of Devouring, so there’s that. I also think she’d find the Deck of Many Things something to be reckoned with. As an overall malicious magic item that relies on probability and has no apparent functional reason for existing (at least at face value), it really goes against everything she understands about magic. So probably that, just to make her think.

7 - If they didn’t have to adventure, would they stop? ©Again, funny this one lands on Colm. No. He doesn’t adventure with an end goal in mind, he adventures both as a coping mechanism and because it gives him purpose. Besides, he really enjoys beating things up. Adventuring is a hobby as much of a pastime for Colm, one he’d prefer not to give up if given the choice.

8 - What do they look for in a platonic or romantic partner? (L)For romantic - she doesn’t. Straight up. End of story. Not interested. As for platonic, she’s willing to befriend anyone who has at least some intelligence and common sense, and isn’t directly opposed to her. Don’t expect it to be the most fulfilling friendship though.

9 - Do they trust easily? ©Ooh, good question. On the balance of things, probably not, although more so than Lorelei. He’ll want to know why people are buying him drinks, and he’ll question until satisfied. After that though, he won’t complain.

10 - What is their favourite colour? (L)Red-orange. Fire is everything in Lorelei’s aesthetic. For the most part, she tries to keep it concealed within neutral browns and blacks, but it will occasionally flare out into the odd cantrip or spell circle.

11 - Diplomatic or aggressive? ©Wish this had been for Lorelei, but - I mean, it’s very much aggressive for Colm. Not a hard one, that.

12 - They get arrested and thrown in jail. How do they escape? (L)First up, Lorelei’s going to try the way that draws the least attention, even if it’s slower; that is to say, nothing that could leave them as fugitives. Plan A - negotiate release. Plan B - bribe a guard. Plan C - charm a guard… Plan X - knock a guard out. Plan Y - blow a hole in a wall. Plan Z - blow a hole in a guard.

13 - Would they leave the party for any reason? ©Colm’s pretty ride-or-die. Not only would he need to be certain of future adventuring prospects for him to leave, it’d also have to be over something pretty serious - that’d probably be insults to his family, or killing innocents. Even then, he’d deliberate over it for hours.

14 - If they could own any pet? (L)Well, Lorelei already has a feline familiar - however, I’m not sure she’d like the unpredictability of a real cat. She’d take something that could be trained, and could be useful in a variety of situations (and one that went with her aesthetic tbh). That would be a hawk.

15 - How have you influenced your character’s personality? ©The fierce sibling bonds between Colm and Lorelei are a direct correlation to my friendship with my sister to be honest. I’m also vaguely responsible for the Sartrean existentialist aspect to his adventuring drive - his desire to prove himself is somewhat a mirroring of my own life philosophies, although not entirely identical.

16 - Do they have tattoos? If yes, what? If no, would they? (L)She doesn’t yet - not because she doesn’t want to, but because it’s simply never been something that crossed her mind or was ever a priority. If she were to get one in the future, it would likely be for the sake of efficiency, something she could cast through - either the runes for a frequently-used spell, or as a home for her familiar.

17 - Where would they like to be in 10 years time? ©In a bar, probably. Still adventuring. Still alive. Ideally, Colm would like to be doing something that made his mother proud, so acting as a defender of the faith in some way would probably appeal to him. For now though, he very much doesn’t care where the road leads him, so long as he’s on it.

18 - What do they look like? (L)Becky Lynch. She looks like Becky Lynch. That’s the faceclaim. That’s the inspiration for the aesthetic, and to some extent the inspiration behind the latent anger in her character. The entire idea stemmed from that faceclaim and a song by Blackmore’s Night. So… Yeah :p Less certain on Colm, but I can absolutely tell you this one.

19 - What genre of music would they be into? ©*cough* Dropkick Murphys *cough* - basically any drinking song is good for Colm. I realise that’s not much of an answer though, so I’m gonna come right out with my modern Colm headcanon: he’s totally the guy to be into super cheesy mainstream stuff but never admit it, to the point where it’s kinda funny and endearing.

20 - What would be the worst thing someone could say to them? (L)Any insult to her intelligence. Any insult to her capability as a mage. And may the gods have mercy on the poor soul who says a bad word about her brother.

I just found your site, and am curious what software you use to print off the books you bind! I'm thinking of doing some bindings of off-copyright books, but don't know where to start with the whole print-for-proper-binding thing. Thanks for any info you can throw my way!

Sure!!! So, there are a number of options at varying price points, several of which have notable strengths or weaknesses, depending on where your focus lies. I'm working almost exclusively off microsoft word, because I'm very used to office products, and especially since I wanted to bind massively long cnovels from the time I took up the hobby, I prioritized the program that was good at using brute strength to wrangle huge chunks of text. And it's a word processor but has a built-in 'booklet' function, so that was ideal for my needs. My license just charged me for my second year of subscription, actually, haha

So that's a paid option, though i get enough use out of it to be very happy with the investment! However, libreoffice does almost the same thing, and for completely free. The program does have a few quirks that were throwing off my muscle memory, so I crumpled like a damp paper towel and paid for office (things like if you have a blank page and print to pdf, the program maybe doesn't include the blank page period? You need to have a white character hiding in the page for it to work). But it's a good program (and has a booklet function) and I've lived out of it in the past, back when I wasn't processing enough text to justify a paid license. Some people also get use out of google docs, and that is where i started out, but if there was a booklet function, i wasn't finding it, and my aspect ratios were off and I never figured out how to account for that. It also starts to... lag as you load it up with text, which may or may not be an issue, depending on the length of the books you're after

Then there are a few specialty programs! Indesign is the Max Fancy option, as far as I can tell, but the subscription model is priced aggressively enough that I'm ignoring it. But if you want fancy layouts and artistic effects, this is the place to go. Or, less expensive but in the same vein, Affinity! And licenses for this periodically go on sale too, i think i picked it up last summer for half off, and then was too frazzled to ever slow down and figure it out. So I've never gotten familiar with those two, but I hear very good things from like, the bookbinders who take time to design their cover pages and chapter headers :V

Finally. If you are a very code-oriented person, i know a few lunatics (affectionate) who do their work in Latex! I do not understand or comprehend how this works, and they intimidate me, a humble microsoft office plebe

And then, three more little things! One, I know VERY little about strengths and weaknesses of different file formats, but I typically feed any ebook files I want to work with into calibre, tell calibre to convert to a format I know how to edit (docx), and take it from there. Two, once you gave pages to turn into a book, they may or may not be imposed. This imposition tool is really lovely, and has the option of doing little books, multiple pages per sheet! And finally, the @renegadepublishing tumblr has a resources document with some good info on options and some basic instructions on how to get started in them. It's geared towards text from ao3, but it's good context for other book purposes too. I hope that helps!! :D

My law student friend had a lot to say. I’m not sure it helps, but I’ll send the main parts. She says she’s not sure everything she said is correct, because she’s not American and that this should not be taken as legal advice, but that she can try to do some more digging on this topic, because she found the whole situation very strange (and I promised to watch doctor who). I’m currently asking about NDAs so if she keeps replying I’ll send it later.

Okay so about copyright, idk that much about how those laws work in the USA, especially because it’s a common law country so a lot of the legal standards on this regard come from courts. I did do a bit of research and from what I could find apparently the current understanding is that if a character is central to the story then they fall into copyright law. Now this does not specify which attributes of the character fall into copyright, but I’m guessing any distinctive characteristic of this character will be copyrighted. So this could include the voice of a character, if it were distinctive enough (eg: Darth Vader). This is why impersonating might fall into copyright depending on how it’s done. But i mean is rare, impersonations and impressions are usually fair use. Especially if it’s the actor that portrays the actor that’s doing it (I couldn’t find any decisions on a case like this, but if I have time I can look more)

Now in regard to this particular case, you told me Castiel’s voice is different from the actor’s regular voice and is very distinctive so in that sense it could fall under copyright. But as I said, it’s not common for impersonations to fall into copyright, especially if it comes from the actor himself. But what I find weird is that you told me the actor has never mentioned any sort of restriction on this front before, right?

(...) So I’m thinking the restriction could be more linked to what was requested for him to say rather than him using the voice. There could also be restrictions because he’s making a profit out of it. Copyright laws are a lot stricter when it comes to lucrative activities. But since he used the character’s voice for other videos and only refrained from using it for a certain request, Im inclined to say it’s more about the content of what was asked for him to say than the use of the voice itself. He could also just be ignoring his NDA/contract/guidelines when he used his voice. But I’m here for the legal analysis haha. Also, it must be noted that dub actors often do impressions of their characters during cons and per fans requests and I’ve never seen any sort of direct prohibition for what they could say in the characters voice apart from things like swearing or that could be harmful to someone else. The request was not like that right?

So this furthers my theory that the restriction is only in regard to the topic that was asked in the request. I might be wrong and idk the show enough so this all hypothetical, but from what you told me and from what I could find there was extensive backlash from the finale, so this seems like the studio/network is just trying to prevent from further damage. Maybe because fans take his answers as canon? If they’re trying to downplay something or make it go away having an actor from the show feeding into fans requests and questions about the topic they don’t want addressed does not seem like the best option. So, in a way, it makes sense that they’re shielding themselves, but, apparently is only making it worse. They could change strategies if this keeps backfiring tbh. So I’m thinking he’s not allowed to say things that could be seen as canon, but that are not in the show/script. So like saying hi to a fan in his character’s voice is fine, because it’s not adding anything to the canon of the show. Same thing for saying something That was in a script. However, if he were to say a line that was not scripted then he’d face restrictions. Again this is all me guessing haha. I might be completely off tbh.

I looked down at my phone as it rang for the eighth time today. It was Vinny. Again. Couldn't he take the hint? He thought he wanted me but I knew he didn't. How could he? Clearly he wouldn't let it go though. I rolled my eyes and went to put my phone back down when it dinged. He didn't call this time. It was actually a text.

"all my past relationships have crashed and burned and i dont know how to move on form that. i dont want to have to change who i am again."

he shook his head.

"you dont- you would never have to do that. i like you the way you are, and i want to prove that to you."

i sent him a look.

"no, you like who ive created for you. thats not me. im not carefree and easy going, and agreeable. im pig headed and strongly opinionated and i have a loud mouth."

i said with a laugh. he smiled back at me which i wasnt quite expecting.

"i dont care about all that. i care about you, whether you think youve created someone for me or not. give me stubborn. give me opinionated and loud. hell even give me furious at times. i know thats the real you and yet im still trying. cant you see that?"

i bit the inside of my cheek and thought for a second. then i looked down started strumming again lightly.

"im sorry for making things harder, i never meant to make it this far."

i began singing lightly.

"you dont deserve this mess of a person, i just keep making things hard."

i looked to him and he was staring at me intently.

"we've made it this far, i cant believe youre still around. i thank the heavens cause if not id be six feet down"

i closed my eyes, swaying back and forth as i played.

"Im sorry for making things harder, you dealt with this before. If i make it up to you somehow, we wont have to waste our time no more."

i said softly, over the guitar before stopping and looking at him.

"its not quite done yet."

i said a little shy. he sent me a small smile.

"i love you."

he said and my face went straight. i watched as he scooted his way closer to my side.

"ill always be here for you, no matter how we move forward."

i looked to my lap for a second before looking back to him. he was staring at me longingly.

"i think i love you too vin."

i said, barely above a whisper. he looked between my eyes before his hand moved to graze my cheek. i couldnt help moving into him. before i knew what was happening i was kissing him lightly, his hand going to the back of my head to hold me to him. when he pulled away he had a huge smile on his face.

"the song sounds great by the way."

i laughed a little at that, feeling a blush creep its way to my face as he pressed his forehead to mine.
