its so odd thinking back to my life a few years ago compared to now
#like. my life really sucked. its so weird to think about that. every second before i thought 'its not so bad' even when it was bad#and now i see shit it really was that bad. i really did have a reason to want to kill myself all the time#maybe i dont have to blame myself for the person i was before while i had was dealing with all that stuff. who could act normally in that#kind of situation. of course i did bad shit and feel bad about it but i was a kid. and now im treating her the way that i was always treate#back then. i was in survival mode the entire time and just never realized it#and its so strange to think about how my life sucked and i was scared and alone all the time from the perspective of myself now#im not without support anymore. im not walking on eggshells anymore. im not afraid of violence all the time anymore#i dont believe my family hates me anymore. im not ready to pack up and leave because i think theyd be better off without me anymore#before i got good at anything my hobby was thinking of all the ways i could die and who would care. i spent all my time doing this#my daydreams were only about how people would react if i died. i dont do this that often anymore. close to never. and its so odd to remembe#since i was 6 i used to think this way. and up until a year or two ago i hated every version of myself and blamed them for me#but how was that fair. my life doesnt suck anymore. people i was without came back to me and love me#i see my cousins all the time. when i text them they text back. they ask me if im okay. they know when im not eating even when theyre not#around. i dont walk on eggshells around my mom as much as i used to. her attention isnt as divided as it used to be.#my brother is more of a brother than a stranger or an enemy. the image of him now and our relationship compared to what it used to be is#crazy. i had so much reason to be sad back then. i dont know why im still sad now when i got out of that life.#even now the reasons i have to be sad have dissolved. i used to feel like i was going insane without anyone to say the things i want to to#but i can say them to my cousin now. i have places i belong. its so strange to think about. idk#aricouldyounot

BSD MEN REACTING TO A CONFESSION.
↷ A/N ─ yes new divider again because im indecisive as heck
★ FT. ─ dazai , chuuya , ranpo , akutagawa , atsushi , fyodor
!! TAGS ─ mentions of suicide, insecurities, overall fluff
Tumblr media
"i love you."
ᴅᴀᴢᴀɪ.
promptly replies with, "i love you too."
he'll lean into you with an amused smile because he lowkey thinks you're joking
when he realizes you're serious about it he'll immediately stop the stupid grin
and look at you with this sincere look you've never seen on his face before
he'll hold your hand and everything while repeating "i love you too," for a second time, only this time he's serious about it too
definitely asks for double suicide later
"You know it's my motto to unalive myself with a beautiful woman. How lucky of you to have been bestowed upon this honour."
"Mhm."
"I'll say yes if you join me in a double suicide," he asks with puppy eyes.
"Dazai, you already said yes."
"I'll say it again!"
ᴄʜᴜᴜʏᴀ.
he stops abruptly and half chokes on his expensive ass wine
poor boy is really confused 😭 because "where did that come from??"
he tries to play it cool but he's literally SCREAMING inside
we all know he's been betrayed a lot of times in the past so he feels hesitant about it
will decide to give it a shot tho
100% calls dazai to brag about it
"You may be taller or whatever (as if that matters in the first place) but were you the one able to steal her heart? Eh? I think not!"
You chuckle hearing him update his rival of his new relationship status.
"And anyway," he raises a glass of wine for toast. "I'd like to thank my good looks, good looks and did I mention my good looks (?) for making tonight the happiest night ever."
ʀᴀɴᴘᴏ.
"i know."
he has always observed every single thing about you - how you behave around others vs how you behave around him, the little times you look at him like you want his attention etc etc
he's known about this since like soooo long
he defo also knew when where and how you were gonna confess
went to yosano for tips to react to it and bought you chocolates and stuff. he thinks it'll make you happy :D
eats all of that himself even tho he originally bought it for you but you let it slide because he's a cutie patootie
"You could at least have been a bit subtle about it," he says, munching on his chips. "I mean, anyone who saw you would've been able to guess. I didn't even need my ability for this!"
He lifts his chin up thoughtfully, fingers ripping open another packet of snacks. "You should be grateful I'm not a snitch. Eh, well," he shrugs, "You're now dating the greatest detective in the world! Congratulations!"
ᴀᴋᴜᴛᴀɢᴀᴡᴀ.
"eh???"
like chuuya, he's pretty confused too
"are you sure?"
tries to keep a straight face and hide his fluster
he'll narrow his eyes at you as if he's trying to read your emotions. he doesn't wanna get hurt if he gets too attached to you and you two end up breaking up
also how tf is he supposed to believe that someone like YOU like someone like HIM?
reassure him that he's perfect please :( poor baby deserves the world
"I am a lot of work. I don't think you can keep up with all of that," he says shortly.
"I'll try my best."
"You don't have to."
"But I want to!"
He stares at you for a few moments, looking like he's about to cry.
"Oh, alright then," he waves a hand around. "But don't you ever leave me."
ᴀᴛꜱᴜꜱʜɪ.
screams
"SAY IT AGAIN PLEASE!"
jumps around everywhere in happiness
you dont even get a verbal answer the man's just dancing around
either that or he just faints
he's, like akutagawa, insecure about himself. but he's much more open to showing his emotions to you.
you end up cuddling the whole night or he calls off work to be with you for the rest of the day <3
"I..." he repeats the same word for the fifth time in a row.
"Yes?"
"Don't mind me, I'm just trying to come to terms with the fact that I get to date you."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No, no!" he panics, wringing both hands all over himself hastily. "I love you! Really!"
ꜰʏᴏᴅᴏʀ.
no reaction. im sorry
spares a small glance at you but otherwise doesn't get distracted from his work
you think he's gone deaf from the way he just ignored you cuz what????
will spend like 15 minutes that way before extending an arm to you and you lowkey DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO??? HELP??
he'll stare at you for a few seconds before pulling you onto his lap and continuing with his work
and that's his way of saying yes
He shuts the computers around him down and taps your outer thigh twice. You immediately stand up and help him up. He stares at you for a few seconds, contemplating something.
"You know, I never thought I'd enable others to call me a lovesick fool."
"Does that mean you are a lovesick fool?"
"A little, maybe," he turns around and walks out of the door while you follow him with a soft smile on your face.

hello there !!! of course you can, I absolutely love this request :) as soon as I saw him, his eyes caught my attention, such a beautiful design !! I am not an artist, so I wish you can forgive me if I describe something poorly, but I hope it will be enjoyable for you regardless :) <3

soft bf! aventurine and admiring his pretty eyes <3, written with gender neutral reader in mind, fluff ! :)

he doesn't get it at first. You constantly ask him to widen his eyes at you, staring at them with a soft smile on your face. Anytime you take a picture of him or a picture together, you just zoom into his eyes and stare for literal minutes, without uttering a word. Sometimes he teases you, asking is that the only quality of his that you like, as if he doesn't have so much more beauty to offer. He will buy a new outfit, showing it off to you and all you say is how the light blue really gives a captivating effect to his eyes?
when you go to sleep, he stares into your lips in order to give you a hint that he wants a kiss while you keep staring into his eyes. He jokingly tells you that they aren't worth anything if your plan is to sell them, little creep. You just reply how they are worthy everything to you, tone quite offended which turns into an endless ramble of yours :3
you begin explaining to him how his eyes are the most unique thing you have ever seen, how the contrast of pink and blue never looks as good as it does in his eyes. You explain how pink resembles softness, warmth, femininity, romance and tenderness, while the blue contrasts it with depth, light, slight masculinity, firmness, yet safety and comfort
you continue explaining to him that the pink could easily represent a soft sunset, while the blue contains freedom and beauty of an ocean, so anytime he misses any of those - all he has to do is look into his own eyes. You explain that the colors in his eyes are quite literal epitome of love which proves that he was made out of deep love and his existence is a proof of love itself <3
he just smiles awkwardly, his heart softening from your words, but he urges you to go to sleep as you are speaking "nonesense" 😒
he finds you getting lost in his eyes all the time, sometimes having to snap his fingers in order to gain your attention. A secret he won't tell you is that sometimes he lets it go on for as long as possible as he never had anyone look into his eyes so lovingly, praise them so wholeheartedly and find beauty in them :)
you also grow a habit to squish his cheeks, enjoying how his pretty eyes widen at you from suddeness. He often acts like it's annoying him that you do that only because he gets so flustered, heart beating so fast as you stare so tenderly into his eyes <3
anytime he wears sunglasses of any kind, you immediately remove them, just blankly staring into his eyes and scolding him for hiding them away from you. You also grow a habit to point at a pink sunset that arises while mixing with blue sky at places and tell him that those are his eyes, trying to make him understand their beauty :3
through you, he learns to love his own eyes more and find pride in them. He used to avoid his own gaze in the mirror, wear sunglasses as his eyes often inviting rude comments, humiliation and overall hatred, whether it was his own or from other people. You taught him to love himself more and now he finds himself looking for clothes that put an accent on his eyes, just to hear more of your loving praises and compliments :)

6 to 1 | lando norris (part 6)
pairing: lando norris x leclerc!reader part 6 in the 6 to 1 series (read part 1 here)
days off mean lounging around, sharing meals and potentially sharing intimate movements? it's getting harder and harder to push your feelings for lando aside, even if there is a voice in the back of your head reminding you getting involved with a british driver (but that voice sounds a lot like charles' so its easy to ignore)
word count: 5.8k tags/warnings some social media aus
if anyone read this part when it was originally posted im so sorry, something got messed up and like half of the chapter didnt post sooo here it is now
Tumblr media
“I am not watching another one of these stupid vampire movies.”
Lando had kept his mouth shut all day. He didn’t complain when you put Twilight on, craving a bit of nostalgia and a reason to lounge on the couch for the foreseeable evening. He didn’t say anything when you put New Moon on, he just gave you a questionable look when you spoke in unison with Jacob Black when he said the iconic ‘Bella, where the hell have you been loca’ line.
By the time you started Eclipse, the third in the series, Lando stood up from the couch. Your attention had been divided between your phone and the movie for the majority of the day so you really weren’t paying attention to Lando until you realised he was spending a good chunk of time in the kitchen.
You lifted your head, “What are you doing?”
“Driving a race car,” Lando called back, tone dropping with sarcasm, as he pulled out a knife to start cutting the vegetables he had taken from the fridge.
You sat up a bit straighter, eyeing the red pepper on the cutting board, “I don’t like red peppers.”
“There were peppers in your omelette this morning,” Lando scoffed, turning to look at you.
“Those were green peppers. I don’t like red ones.”
“They are literally the same thing.”
“Not to me.”
Lando held the pointed end of the knife in your direction, “You are making my life very difficult right now.” When you just flashed him a smile and turned back to the movie, Lando put the red pepper away and swapped it for a green one.
You weren’t even sure what he was making, but it smelled good so you kept quiet for the most part.
You tried to tell him you were allergic to whatever seasoning he just pulled out of the cupboard and in response, Lando put a handful of it in his hand, walked over to you, and blew it directly into your face.
You sat up, rubbing your eyes as you grabbed a tissue to rid your face of what you assumed was some sort of combination of dill and garlic powder.
“You should be thanking your lucky stars this recipe didn’t call for cayenne pepper, you ungrateful shit,” Lando laughed as he returned back to the kitchen. Now you really stayed quiet.
When he returned, you had your defences up, flinching as he approached you as you were scared he was going to throw something else in your face. Lando only rolled his eyes and handed you a bowl and a bottle of sparkling water.
You sat up and took a look at the Greek inspired chicken bowl. With layers of rice, protein, a variety of vegetables topped with feta cheese, it made your mouth water before you could take the first bite.
“Maybe you should open up a restaurant,” you suggested when he sat down next to you.
“Let’s just open one together.”
“In your dreams.”
Lando took a sip of his Perrier water and nodded in agreement, “Sounds like a pretty good dream to me.”
You ate dinner and kept watching the movie, choosing to ignore that comment. Lando asked a couple questions here and there, needing clarification on who some characters were that he had missed when he was making dinner, but you had the feeling he was as into these movies as you were.
Until it was nearing eleven and you had just put the final movie on. Breaking Dawn Part 2. And Lando snatched the remote from your hands, pausing it at the opening credits.
“I am not watching another one of these stupid vampire movies.”
You stared at him in shock, “You said we could do what I wanted today!”
“I didn’t think that would involve ten straight hours of a vampire-werewolf love triangle that is making me want to rip my eyes out,” Lando exclaimed with a laugh, his words cutting right through your heart.
You ripped the remote from his hands and sat up, pointing at the tv, “The Twilight Saga is a cinematic masterpiece.”
Lando threw his head back and laughed, “Oh really? How many Oscars has it won?”
“It won MTV’s Best Onscreen Kiss in 2009.”
“I feel like this isn’t information you should just know off the top of your head.”
You groaned and pressed play, “Can we just watch it? It’s the last movie.”
“You watch it, I’m getting ready for bed.” Lando tousled his hand through your hair before using you as a crutch to stand up. You pushed him out of the way as he walked in front of the tv and he made another comment about how this was one of the worst series’ he’s ever seen before walking into the bathroom.
You turned your attention to the screen, but when your phone started to ring you turned it down and saw Arthur was calling you to check in, ask if you’d be at Silverstone and what not. It was an innocent enough conversation, until he asked where you were.
“At a friend's house,” you sat up a bit, thankful that Lando wasn’t anywhere near you to make this conversation more difficult.
“Oh, which friend?”
Fuck your mind went blank.
You said the first name that came to mind, “Laura.”
Arthur laughed, “Who the hell is Laura?”
“Oh you’ve met her before,” you lied through your teeth. “Blonde, has the piercings-”
“That describes about half of your friends,” Arthur cut you off, probably not caring too much who you were with, as long as you were somewhere safe. “Have you talked to Charles lately?”
Aside from a few texts, you really hadn’t heard from your brother since you left Canada, “Not much, why?”
There was a bit of hesitation, “No reason, just wondering.”
Any other day you would have called Arthur out on withholding information from you. Something must have been going on with your brothers for Arthur to even ask if you had spoken to Charles, but Arthur ended this phone call almost immediately after, making up some bullshit training excuse.
You made a mental note to call him out on it next time you spoke, but until then you returned back to the vampire-werewolf love triangle Lando despised so much.
When the bathroom door opened, you glanced in that direction in time to see a cloud of steam protrude into the hallway. You wouldn’t have paid any more attention to it, had Lando not immediately followed and stepped out of the bathroom.
With nothing but a towel hanging around his hips.
You really tried to focus on the movie. You would have been fuming if you stepped out of the shower in nothing but a towel and Lando couldn’t stop staring at you, but this was the first time you’d seen him like this and it was quite distracting.
You’d seen his shirtless pictures on instagram. You’ve seen clips of him changing shirts in Lando edits on twitter or tik tok, but this was different. Holy fuck was this different.
Beads of water clung to his skin, accentuating the dips and curves of the muscles in his back. He shook out his head, running his fingers through the wet strands of hair to try and keep the curls from sticking to his forehead.
And then he looked at you and you knew you had been caught staring.
“I’m just going into the room to change,” he told you. It had been your room for the last few weeks, but he still had all of his clothes in the closet. You nodded, mentally telling yourself to not look down at where the towel sat on his hips.
But you couldn’t do anything about pulling your eyes off his body as he walked down the hall and shut the bedroom door behind him.
It took you a second to pull yourself together after that.
Lando was hot.
You knew he was attractive, everyone who had eyes would agree to that. He had cute, boy-ish features and a magnetic smile that made it hard to look away. Like a lot of the drivers on the grid, Lando was good looking, he had that going for him.
But he was hot.
Hot enough to make you temporarily forget about one of your favourite movie series, hot enough that you couldn’t say a single word to him when he told he was just going to change, hot enough that you were now imagining what he might have looked like without the towel.
You sat up straighter, forcing these thoughts out of your mind. You knew you shouldn’t be thinking about Lando like that so when he walked out of the bedroom, you didn’t even let yourself look at him as he sauntered down the hall. In the corner of your eye you could see him make himself a cup of tea in the kitchen. When he asked if you wanted one, you could only shake your head.
It was hard to focus on the movie knowing Lando was right there. You weren’t even watching, you were just pretending to because you needed something to look at that wasn’t him.
When he sat down next to you, he carefully put his cup of tea on the coffee table and leaned against the back cushions with a heavy breath. He was sitting a few inches closer to you now than he had been before, you weren’t imagining that. He had the hood of his jumper pulled up around his head, his arm resting behind his neck and neither of you said anything for a little while.
Until Lando, not even pulling his eyes from the screen, asked, “Were you checking me out?”
In response, you grabbed the pillow that had fallen on the ground and smacked him right in the face with it. Lando laughed, but he couldn’t dodge it, instead letting it fall to his lap and eyeing the way your cheeks turned red and how you refused to look at him.
“That’s a very violent way to say yes,” there was a smugness to his tone. You didn’t have to look at him to know he was smirking.
“I wasn’t.” You practically hissed, “I looked at you, there’s a difference.”
You were definitely checking him out when he stepped out of the bathroom.
But he didn’t need to know that.
Lando wasn’t going to let this go, “It’s okay, I check you out sometimes.”
You rolled your eyes, deciding that if he wanted to start this game, you would play dirty. “Yeah I bet you absolutely drool at the sight of me in the Ferrari garage talking to Carlos.”
But that didn’t deter Lando like you thought it would. He shifted on the couch to face you, arm resting along the back of it, “Okay can you tell me about that? Like is there something going on there?”
You finally looked at him, eyebrows raised, “Going on with…?”
“You and Carlos.”
You snorted, “No.”
“But you guys are close.”
“We’re friends.”
“Nothing more?”
“If we were more I probably would have called him last night instead of you, don’t you think?”
It was a sentimental thought, but your tone was bitter and Lando caught it, like you couldn’t believe you were actually talking about this. But Lando didn’t know that this was an ongoing conversation with those that were close to you and Charles. People jumped to their own conclusions and while you did like Carlos, you would never see him as anything more than a friend.
“So what are we?”
Now you felt forced to pause the movie. You turned on the couch, crossing your legs underneath you as you stared at the British driver, “Are we really having this conversation?”
“I just want clarification, is all,” Lando said, a hand held up in defence before you could give him any more attitude. “You didn’t call Carlos because you guys are just friends and nothing more, but you called me.”
“You’re thinking too much about this.”
“I’m thinking about it the right amount,” Lando retorted. Still, you were unimpressed and he could see that. Through your blank stare and semi-scowl, Lando got the impression that this was not how you wanted the night to end.
But he had a point, whether you admitted it or not.
Lando was who you called. Even if you didn’t remember it, he was who you wanted to be with last night, he was who you missed.
However there was something he seemed to be forgetting.
“I don’t date drivers, Lando.”
“I know, I know, and I don’t want to keep having this conversation but I also don’t know where we stand,” he tried to reason with you, he wanted more than just the same rejection you’ve been giving him for a while now. Flirting was fun, hanging out with him was exhilarating and while you knew it couldn’t turn into anything more, Lando wanted you to think otherwise.
“We’re friends,” you said, point blankly. You needed to remove yourself from this situation so you grabbed the empty bowl that had been sitting on the coffee table and you walked to the kitchen.
You shouldn’t have been surprised when Lando followed.
“Friends who kiss?”
“Once,” you pointed out, dropping the bowl into the sink, making sure your back was towards him. “We’ve kissed once and it didn’t mean anything.”
Lando scoffed, you could practically hear his eye roll as he stood behind you, “It didn’t mean anything? Really?”
No, but that’s what he needed to hear. You didn’t want Lando to know that you were conflicted, torn between knowing that you shouldn’t want to hang out with him as much as you did and wanting him to kiss you again. You didn’t like the level of comfort you two had reached and you hated that his presence made you as happy as it did.
So he needed to believe the kiss didn’t mean anything and maybe if you said it enough times, you’d believe it to.
“It didn’t mean anything,” you repeated, hands resting on the edge of the counter. “It was the thirty second deal. Once you reach zero you’re done.”
But Lando wasn’t as naive as you were.
“And how many seconds do I have left?” He asked, standing mere inches from you. If you looked up and to the right even slightly, you’d catch his eyes.
A sharp exhale passed through your lips, “Eleven.”
Lando gently took hold of your wrist and spun you around to face him. With your back pressed up against the counter, you were limited to what you could do or where you could look. You were practically forced to meet his hazel eyes and you were frozen when he lifted his hand up to the side of your face.
His fingers were gently, resting right where your neck met your jaw as he closed the gap even more, dropping his face to yours. He didn’t kiss you, but he came horribly close. Instead, letting his nose nudge yours as his lips parted.
You found yourself reaching for the front of his jumper, curling your fingers around the material to hold him against you. Each breath carried more and more anticipation, your heart nearly pounding out of your chest as Lando hovered his lips right above yours.
He had eleven seconds left, but he wasn’t going to rush into them. He just wanted to prove a point.
You wanted to kiss him.
“Lando,” you were so quiet. You weren’t even sure what you were asking from him.
You were frozen in place and Lando’s breaths were in sync with yours and each second that passed where he didn’t kiss you only drove you more and more insane. It wasn’t fair.
“You can’t tell me this doesn’t mean anything,” Lando’s words were laced with timid desperation. He wanted you both to be on the same page and as terrifying as it was to admit, that build up, the moment before the kiss, meant something. You shouldn’t have wanted him as bad as you did.
You applied the slightest bit of pressure to his chest. Lando got the hint and stepped backwards, giving you the space you needed to think clearly.
“I just-” the fear of Charles finding out flooded your mind, followed by the media spinning this out of control and then images of a Ferrari-McLaren crash were at the forefront of your thoughts. You shook your head. “I need to go to bed.”
Lando wasn’t going to push to get anything else out of you. He watched as you slowly walked down the hall. You didn’t dare give him one last look before collapsing on the bed and calling it a night.
——————
3
The upside to yours and Lando’s friendship, or relationship, was that each new day was exactly that. A new day.
You woke up in the morning and neither of you addressed the almost kiss you shared last night. Lando didn’t ask again if it meant anything and you were able to focus on getting ready and doing your makeup without any intrusive thoughts.
Because you had watched most of the Twilight movies yesterday and that was all you wanted to do, it was Lando’s choice today. He had been texting furiously all morning and even stepped outside to take a few calls, leaving you with more questions than answers.
And he wouldn’t give you any hints. It was a surprise, apparently. He even asked if he could blindfold you before you got into his car and a simple glare in response told him that that would never happen.
During the drive, you both took turns picking the song. Lando would question most of your choices, mostly because a lot of the artists you liked were French, but in return you would judge the majority of the British rap that he chose.
“Can you please just tell me where we’re going?” You asked, noticing you were driving further and further out of the city. “You’re not kidnapping me are you?”
“I’m not kidnapping you.”
“Is this another date?”
“Not a date either,” Lando answered.
You couldn’t imagine what the outskirts of London had to offer. You tried to ask more questions, but they were all shot down. And when the road you were on turned to dirt and gravel and you could no longer see any sign of city life, you turned to him again.
“I need a hint or something.”
“You are so impatient,” Lando laughed, reaching over the console to give your leg a playful squeeze. “We’re almost there. I promise- well, I think you’ll like it.”
Almost was a stretch. It took another fifteen minutes before he turned down yet another dirt road, thick forestry on either side. You couldn’t begin to imagine what he had in store.
And then you saw a few trailers parked in front of a steel dome with a garage door. It took a second for you to realise there was a dark green car parked in the garage and a few people hanging around it.
“What is going on?” You asked him, but you weren’t surprised when all he did was smile.
Lando pulled his car off to the side, using a few fingers to wave at the other people who were apparently waiting for him. He then turned the car off and gave you one of his familiar, charming grins.
“Ready?”
“I don’t know what you signed me up for, so no.”
Lando didn’t let you ask any more questions before he opened the door, quickly scurrying to the other side of the car to open yours as well. He helped you out and you watched as two of the people that were in the garage started making their way over to you.
You recognised Max Fewtrell, Lando’s best friend. You’d never actually met him before, but you’d seen him at races and all over social media. The girl next to him was also familiar with dark brown hair and beautiful features, but you couldn’t place a name.
With his hand on your back, Lando and you took a few steps forward. He gestured towards Max first, “This is Max, that’s Ria-” he looked at you to introduce you to his friends. “This is Y/N.”
Ria Bish, now you knew where you recognised her from. She was part of Lando’s Quadrant team.
And both her and Max were wearing Quadrant merch. Merch that you hadn’t seen before. And usually Lando made a habit of wearing his own clothing whenever he could. Behind them, you finally spotted a skeleton crew of camera operators.
You looked up at Lando, “What the fuck is going on here?”
Ria sort of chuckled, “You didn’t tell her?”
“He doesn’t tell me anything,” you shook your head.
But now you were able to figure it out. The new merchandise. The Quadrant team. The camera set up.
“You’re dropping a new collection,” you said, finally it wasn’t a question.
And that wasn’t the only surprise.
Lando was positively beaming, “And I want you to model for the photo and video shoot.”
Your jaw dropped as you tried to tell if he was playing some sort of joke or not. The way he looked at you told you that he wasn’t lying. Ria and Max wore similar excited expressions, clearly you were the only one left out of this decision.
Modelling wasn’t new to you, but usually your agent contacted you when you had a new job. You didn’t show up to a set with no warning and by the looks of it, this wasn’t even a professional set. This was something Lando had set up with members of his own team.
“I’m not-”
“You don’t have a choice,” Lando interjected before you could turn this down. “I’m pretty sure we agreed that today we did what I wanted to do.”
You thought about it for a moment before a new concern came to mind, “How long have you been planning this?”
Lando scratched the back of his neck, “Honestly, I always knew I wanted you to model this collection. It just worked out that we could do it today.”
“But why-”
“Danny’s never asked you to model one of his collections, has he?”
Oh.
Oh.
That’s what this was about. Your driver ranking. You told Lando to get creative and he was doing exactly that. He knew you lived in your DR3 merch, he knew you admired the third Red Bull driver, but Daniel had never given you the opportunity to be part of his collection drop.
Max handed him a purple top which he just handed over to you, looking quite proud of himself as he draped his arm over your shoulders, tugging you against his side.
“Come on, Y/N, it’ll be fun,” Lando encouraged. You held out the t-shirt to look at the design as Lando kept trying to talk you into it. “The fans will love it.”
“Charles will not.”
“Who cares what Charles thinks?”
You tilted your chin up, eyebrows raised, “You know, usually I get paid for these types of jobs.”
And it was your fault, really, for using a suggestive tone. For letting your gaze drop to his lips. For forgetting that two of his friends were literally standing right in front of you, watching this interaction.
Lando ran with it. He just dipped his head towards your ear, using a volume that only you could hear, leaving Max and Ria to wonder what they were missing.
“I’m sure we can figure something out later.”
Thank god for Ria catching the way your cheeks turned red. She grabbed hold of your wrist and pulled you away from Lando before the innuendos could get any worse, “Come on, I’ll show you the trailer to change in.”
You walked with Ria, waiting a few seconds before looking over your shoulder at Lando who had jumped right into a conversation with Max. But he was watching you too, his gaze darting towards you as he spoke, but trying not to make it obvious.
Ria unlatched the door to the trailer and stepped back for you to walk in, “Can I ask how your brother feels about all of this? About you and Lando?”
“Oh he doesn’t-” you paused on the steps, sending one more look towards the British driver.
You should have said, there was no ‘you and Lando’ but instead your instant response was to say that Charles was unaware. And even though you had no idea what was going either, there was certainly something.
But you just shrugged, “Charles doesn’t know anything.”
Ria eyed the merch in your hands. You were both thinking the same thing, but she was the one to voice the thoughts, "I guess that's about to change."

You told Lando not to respond to Charles’ comment, it would only feed the fire. But then you saw him click ‘reply’ and you weren’t quick enough to snatch the phone out of his hands. You tried, but Lando just held the phone way out of reach.
The photoshoot had been fun, you could admit that, but the entire car ride back to his place, your stomach filled with nerves as you debated posting a collection of photos from it. You wanted to support Lando, you wanted to show off the new clothing, but you were terrified of what Charles would say.
Lando held the door open for you to step into his flat and he could see you were still fighting with yourself. He snatched the phone out of your hands and swiped through the pictures.
“If you’re so worried about what he’ll say, don’t include the last one.”
“But I like the last one,” you admitted with a shy smile. It was one that Ria had snapped when you walked out of the trailer in the all purple attire. And maybe you were the one that pulled Lando to your side to get a photo of the two of you matching but he was the one who dropped his head right next to yours.
And then you were the one who held the side of his face, resulting in a pose that looked very…
“We look like a couple,” Lando voiced your concern as he sat down on the couch, pulling out his own phone. “I love the picture, I do, but if it's causing you this much anxiety, don’t post it.”
When you sat down next to him, you glanced at his phone screen and saw that he was swiping through the photos as well. Taking a few extra seconds to examine the ones of just the two of you. When he zoomed in on your smile you rolled your eyes and playfully pushed your hand against his face.
“You had fun, right?” Lando asked, turning his attention to you. Not the you on his phone screen, the you that was sitting so close to him that he could feel the faint movements of your body with each breath you too, so close that he could see the worry lines in your forehead and guilt in your eyes.
But you nodded, “I really did.”
He grinned from ear to ear, “So am I up to third now? In your driver ranking?”
You sighed heavily, “It appears so.”
Lando curled his hand into a celebratory fist. You ignored his childish ways and looked at your Instagram post again. You really did have a good time today. Getting to know some of Lando’s friends was entertaining, especially when they were able to tell you all of the stories that Lando wouldn’t ever share himself.
It shouldn’t have mattered how your brothers would react, you were happy. You had a really fucking good day.
So you posted the four pictures.
Lando commented immediately. When you asked him if he had your post notifications on he just muttered a quiet ‘no’ and tried to hide in the hood of his jumper.
And then Charles saw it. His ‘what is this’ comment made you feel sick and you begged Lando not to respond but Lando loved making your life difficult and even though his response was innocent enough, you weren’t surprised when Charles’ name appeared on your phone a few seconds later, his ringtone burning through your ears.
“I’ll answer it-”
“You absolutely will not,” you snapped at Lando. “You will stay quiet. If you so much as breathe too loudly I will shave your head in your sleep.”
Lando believed you. You weren’t one to bluff.
You stood up and answered the call, mentally preparing yourself for a scolding.
“Hey Cha-”
“Why were you with Lando?” He asked. Not even a hello or a how are you. Just straight to the point. “Why are you promoting his brand?”
“It was a job,” you looked at Lando, but there was enough space between you that he couldn’t make out what Charles was saying on the other end. “Lando was in the city, he asked if I wanted to participate and I said yes. It’s not a big deal.”
It was a lie. It wasn't a real job and Lando didn't force you in front of the camera. If you wanted out of the photoshoot, you could have said no.
But you wanted to be part of it.
“It’s kind of a big deal, Y/N,” Charles didn’t sound annoyed, he sounded genuinely mad at you. “You’re my sister and you’re promoting another driver's merch? How do you think that makes me look?”
“I don’t think people are thinking about that,” you scoffed. Charles wasn’t one to have selfish tendencies, so this was really coming out of left field. “It was a photoshoot, Charles. Don't try to create a problem when there's not one. You don't care when I wear Daniel's merch."
"Daniel isn't driving."
"That's not the point and you know it."
Charles had something against you
There was silence on his end. You thought about just hanging up and ending the conversation there. Otherwise this would have turned into an argument that neither of you would win.
But then he just had to keep it going.
“Do you-” Charles paused again. You knew where he was going and you really regretted not hanging up when you had the chance. “Do you like him?”
Even though Lando had no idea what sort of conversation you were in the middle of, he was still watching you carefully. When you turned your head to look at him, you felt stuck. Conflicted. This was not how you wanted to feel.
“Peut-être,” you said, eyes locked on Lando’s. Maybe. Maybe you did like him more than you were willing to let on, more than you wanted to.
Making the switch to French was a dead giveaway for Charles, “Are you with him right now?”
Again, all you could say was, “Peut-être.”
Lando was trying to piece together what you were saying. With his eyebrows pinched together and jaw tightened, you could see he was concerned. The photoshoot was his idea and now Charles was taking his frustration out on you, he felt responsible.
“Je dois partir,” I need to go. You said quietly. “I’ll see you Sunday.”
“No, don’t hang-”
You pulled the phone away from your ear and left it on the counter in the kitchen. Lando stood up and walked over to you as soon as he knew the conversation was over. He gently put his hand on your back and kept it there as he turned you to face him.
“Look I knew Charles wouldn’t be happy but I didn’t think-”
“Don’t,” you shook your head, rubbing your hand over your face in distress. “It’s not your fault. None of this is and I shouldn’t even care what he thinks.”
“But he’s your brother, so you’re going to care.”
All you could do was shrug your shoulders. This was a lose-lose situation for you. If you distanced yourself from Lando, you wouldn’t be happy. If you stayed with Lando, if you let yourself be happy with him, Charles would distance himself from you.
Lando lifted his hand to the side of your face, thumb brushing over your cheek, “Can I ask- what does ‘peut-être’ mean?”
You leaned into his touch, “It means ‘maybe’.”
“Maybe what?”
God were you really going to tell him?
It was hard to keep your eyes on his, every voice in your head told you to just turn around and walk away. Leave this conversation now otherwise you’d be digging your own grave.
But it was so easy to tune out those voices when the whole world stopped as he looked at you.
“Maybe..." you started, taking a breath, “maybe I like you.”
Lando smiled, well it was a mix between a smile and smirk, hearing the words that he'd been waiting for. “Maybe?” He asked, heavy on the sarcasm. “Only maybe?”
You rolled your eyes, “Yeah don’t let it go to your head.”
“Too late,” he licked his lips. That fucker knew what he was doing. His gaze dropped to your own lips for a second, “I have eleven seconds left, yeah?”
You nodded and the last thing you caught was the devient glint in his eyes before he connected his mouth to yours, making the move that you were reluctant to.
Your lips moved in slow synchronisation, there was less of a hurry this time compared to at the hotel, both of you wanting this moment to last. Lando’s fingers slipped into your hair, your hand found his chest before it slid up towards his neck instead, bringing him closer to you, if that was even possible.
Lando’s grip tightened on your side and every thought in your brain, the countdown that you should have started, Charles’ disapproval, all of it vanished and instead there was him and only him.
It was like Lando was kissing you with every inch of his soul. Like he was trying to use this moment to replace all of the words he couldn’t say because he knew you wouldn’t listen anyway. It was the kind of kiss that you could get used to, that you wanted to get used to.
Breathlessly, you pulled away. Lando rested his forehead against yours, the pads of his fingers brushing against your cheek as he swallowed.
“Times up,” you whispered, both of you aware that it had been a little longer than eleven seconds.
“It doesn’t have to be, you know that right?”
You could have more than just those expired thirty seconds. You could have every day with him if you wanted, Lando not only hinted at that but he had also made it so blatantly obvious that he wanted you.
This wasn’t about a stupid driver ranking anymore.
Somewhere over these last few weeks, there was a shift. Lando didn’t just care about working his way up, he cared about you. He wanted to make you happy, he wanted to see you smile, be the reason for your laugh, spend every possible minute of the day with you if it wasn’t a race weekend, and even then, he wanted to see you at the Paddock more than anything.
Lando liked you.
And it was terrifying, but you couldn’t deny your feelings anymore. You couldn’t mask them with sarcasm and eye rolls. You couldn’t hide it anymore. You wanted more than just those thirty seconds.
You wanted him.

Kitchen Menace (Thatch x gn!child!reader x Marco)
A/N: If you guys wish to see a specific scenario to read then do send an ask to let me know, or you know… you can just stop and say hi 😉

Marco sat at his desk as he meticulously went through the crew’s current analysis and checkups and made annotations on results he observed that struck him as peculiar and should follow up with his brothers. His concentration was broken as his door was suddenly slammed open. He quickly swirled his chair around to scold the intruder when he, the youngest crew member, ran in.
“Brother Marco! Help me, Brother Thatch is trying to get me!” The young child screamed, darting towards the doctor
Marco shakes his head and sighs, a chuckle escaping him.
“What did you do this time?-yoi?”
“W-Why do you assume I did something! Someone could have done something to me!”
“Well, you have a tendency to cause trouble.” He casually responded, his attention now back on his papers
“Not true!” they huff a notable pout on their face.
Marco turns his sight from the papers at hand to Reader and frowns amusedly.
“And what about those broken plates I saw?”
“We went through pretty bad weather yesterday, big waves,” they reply with a nervous smile.
Marco stared at them for a few seconds before slowly returning to his papers.
“I don’t know which one is funnier, you trying to gaslight me or you lying to me,” He said in a calm tone of voice.
“Im not!”
“Sure, how about you tell me what happened, and I’ll consider helping you-yoi,” He said as he put his papers down and rested his head on his crossed arms.
“Now, what did you do this time that you are hiding-you?”
“Im innocent!”
“You’re on your own then if you din’ do anything, I’m sure you won’t need my help-yoi.”
“Okay! Okay! I may have sneaked into his kitchen.”
“Did you steal anything?” He said as he leaned to the side to rest his chin on one of his hands. His eyes were glaring at them, just waiting for them to answer.
“Sure did, got their hands on the pastries I was doing!” A voice says behind her
Reader squeals as they try to run away but are stopped as Thatch quickly picks them up.
“Where do you think you’re going, you little rascal? It’s time for some. payback,” he exclaims with a sly grin as he tickles them.
“No!”
Hahaha! You’re mine now!
“Brother Marco, help me!” they scream between their joyous screams and laughs that echo around the clinic.
Marco looks at them with a slight grin.
“What exactly do you want me to do, hm?”
“Save me!”
He chuckles and shakes his head.
“You’re on your own.” He leans back in his chair and sips his coffee.
“Enjoy Your forthcoming”
“Haha! No one can save you now! I’mma tickle you till you pop!”
“Im going to tell Grandpa on you!” they scream, trying to wriggle away from him.
“You sure do run that mouth a lot,” he says, stopping his attack and narrowing his eyes.
“And I used it to eat all the yummy pastries, brother Thatch!” they tease.
“Oh, you wanna say that again? You wanna say that again?”
“They were so good, and brother won’t be able to taste them ’cause they’re all gone!”
“I have an idea of how to deal with you.”
They let out a small shriek as he suddenly throws them in the air, and they begin hysterically laughing as he continues to repeat the action.
“You are such a little menace.”
“But you love me!” they say, giving him a toothy grin.
I do love you, but you’re still a menace.
“Well, Brother Thatch and the others raised me, so…I had to learn it from somebody.”
Marco rolls his eyes.
“They’re not wrong,” he mutters under his breath as he sips his coffee.
They laugh as they hear Marco’s comment, hugging Thatch’s neck tight.
“Am sorry for eating the pastries; I was just hungry.”
“Awww. Apology accepted. How about you help me make some more? You can even be my taster.”

The years spent in university may be defined differently by everyone. Some may live out these years to enjoy the supposed independence they craved in high school. Others may spend those years exploring their interests and hobbies as they figure out what their future may have in store for them.
You, however, were a different case—head in scientific journals and coursework with a plan to graduate summa cum laude. As you study in a quota course, you’re determined to come out of university with flying colors. In a sea of students who are of similar (or even better) skill sets as you, the desire to be recognized as one of the top students is what you long for.
And for you, that means you were set on not entertaining ideas that may divide your attention from your studies—you were not going to allow yourself to fall in love in your years of university.
That is until a certain boy who goes by Eric Sohn came into your life.
CHAPTER ONE: LOVE LABORS LOST
The season of summer still lingers in the air; birds chipper as they sit on the tree branches; the sun glows yellow in the sea of blue; people point their fans at themselves as they are forced to bask in the heat.
But the new academic year has commenced, and you are determined to ace your classes once more. You’ve read the syllabi of all the classes you were going to take, even ones for your general subjects. Many people believe that general subjects are a waste of their time. You, however, thought differently, especially since one of the subjects you’re taking this semester is English Literature.
Coming from a STEM-oriented course, you may not seem like the type to enjoy literature. But the reality is that you love to learn about poets and writers—ones who seemed to craft worlds and dynamics that you could never translate into words. This misconception of those who enjoy science being unable to appreciate written bodies of art is one you face. But at least this course is a general subject, leaving you on equal footing with individuals from different courses.
You sit by the window as you wait for your professor to finish setting up his laptop. It’s syllabus week, so there wasn’t much to be worried about. Once he clears his throat, he shows the class a smile.
“Good morning, class. I’m Mr. Hwang Taejoon, and I am your professor for Introduction to English Literature.” He takes a moment to look down at his clipboard which you can only assume holds a list of his students’ names. “If this isn’t your class, you may take this opportunity to leave.” Some students get off their seats and make their way outside the classroom.
As soon as they left, your professor smiled before clapping his hands. “I’m excited to go through this semester with you. I know this is only an introductory course for you, so I will make sure to guide you all throughout. Now, will–”
The door of the classroom slams open. Your eyes snap to where the sound comes from, showing a boy whose black hair is all tousled up as he pants. He’s all dressed up in a varsity jacket over his hoodie and a pair of sweatpants. You notice how his hand quickly reaches out to his head, fixing his hair.
The boy then immediately bows down to the class (mostly to your professor) as he says, “Sorry about being late!” Your eyes drift back to Mr. Hwang whose face now holds a frown in contrast to the smile he once showed to you. “I promise, I won’t be late for any other session!”
Mr. Hwang grumbles before he takes another look back down to his clipboard. “Go take a seat.”
The boy stands up straight before flashing your professor an apologetic smile. He quickly makes his way to find a seat. Despite the vacant seats that are located throughout the class, his eyes quickly skimmed through them. That is until his eyes land on you. You notice how his eyes flicker to the empty seat beside you. And the next thing you know, you find him situated to your right.
You try to keep your eyes on your laptop, looking at the text on the syllabus. You didn’t want to stare at him—the boy who took the vacant seat beside you out of all the ones situated around the classroom.
The noise he creates as he brings out his laptop is not loud enough to interrupt the discussion but can drown out your professor’s words. But as soon as he settles down, you notice that he sets his hand down on the space between the two laptops. You cannot help but let your eyes flicker to it, and you notice his wrist is littered with beaded bracelets.
“Now, I’ll be discussing the outputs you are expected to deliver within the semester.” Your eyes snap up to where your professor is, standing right behind the table as he looks through his laptop.
You were ready to focus for today’s session until you felt someone tap your shoulder. As you look to your side, you are met with a boy who shows you a smile—one that is enough to almost have you smiling back, just almost.
“Hi, can I ask if there was anything I missed?” It’s a simple question, but you find yourself unable to formulate an answer. His voice is enough to send you into a lullaby; he could have his own podcast and you’d listen only to hear him speak nonstop, whether it would be of logical discussions or nonsensical chatter.
Without any idea of how to voice your thoughts, you only shake your head. He nods and shoots you a wink before looking back to the professor.
You should’ve been thrown off by his sudden action. If anything, you have every right to roll your eyes at him. But you do nothing of the sort, only looking back at your professor who demands your attention while your mind remains preoccupied with the boy beside you.
This could be due to all the years focused on your studies. You could care less about all the people who tried to earn your affection, from your classmates in your majors to even those part of the same club as you. But the boy emits an aura that has you only thinking of him. How can you ace this class if you’re turning putty at the first meeting? You need to get a better grip on yourself.
“Now, I want you to answer these,” Mr. Hwang says as he flashes a question on the screen: What role does literature play in your life? “And talk about it with your seatmates. Now would be a good time to get to know your classmates with the upcoming paired assessment around the corner.”
As you read out the words on the screen, you are not given enough time to think as the boy beside you clears his throat. You look back at him, met with the same smile he flashed at you then. Does he do this with every person he first meets?
“I think I should introduce myself. I’m Eric Sohn, majoring in Hotel Culinary Arts,” he says with his hand out toward you. You take a glance at his hand before letting yourself hold it, shaking it firmly.
“I’m Y/N, majoring in Psychology.”
You notice the way his eyes widen as you mention your course. “Do you perhaps know someone named Kevin Moon?”
The mention of your friend’s name has you smiling. “Yeah, I do. We’ve worked together since we’re part of our home org. How do you know him?” Your hand drifts away from his, crossing your arms as you listen intently to what he has to say.
“Mutual friends,” he reveals as he lets one of his arms rest on the back of your chair. With one hand tucked under his chin, he rests his arm on the table. He takes a glance at the screen shown in the front to refresh his memory on the question. “Would you like to go first? Or do you want me to start?”
You nod your head, signaling for him to start. He takes a deep breath as he looks up to the ceiling, gathering his thoughts. “Well, I’ve read a few books then and there, but I think it was only when I entered uni that I started really reading more books if that makes sense.”
As his eyes meet yours, you nod as a way to show you understand him. “Yeah, I hate to admit this at first meeting but I’m a very romantic person.” You cannot help but raise your eyebrows at his words, earning a chuckle from him.
“I swear, I am! That’s why I started reading because my sister got me hooked on some romance books, so I’d like to think that literature helps me imagine scenarios I would love to see play out.” You notice the way he starts to scratch the back of his neck. “It doesn’t have to be me as the protagonist, but I’d like it,” he shyly admits, making you smile unconsciously.
God, you were not the type to just smile at some random boy. So why did Eric seem to have this effect on you?
Your thoughts snap you back into reality; the smile is now replaced by your calm demeanor. “I guess I can start.” As you see him signal for you to continue, you bite the inside of your cheek as you let your eyes drift to the screen.
“Well, I’ve been reading my whole life, actually,” you look back at Eric who seems to show genuine interest in what you have to say. Oddly enough, you feel as if you can tell him more than just the typical story you tell people.
“I know people don’t expect me to be this type because I major in Psychology, and I have this tendency to read a lot of scientific journals and textbooks for my classes but that’s because I enjoy learning about the human condition.” You let your eyes drift off to nowhere as you reveal a part of you to a stranger. Maybe it’s because he’s a stranger that makes it easier for you to admit details you wouldn’t normally admit to someone whom you’ve met under a different circumstance.
“But I’ve always had an affinity for reading. Books can be a form of escapism through fictional stories, but they can also be a way to encapsulate memories of someone,” you continue with a small sigh. “I have been quite behind with my reading schedule though, so I’m hoping this class may propel me back to getting back to reading.”
He hums as he nods before saying, “No, I get it. I like that answer.” You look back at the boy who only smiles at you. “It’s nice to know that you still want to go back to reading despite how much your other classes demand it. I know many people who’ve lost that love and don’t see themselves going back to it, you know?” You nod at his words.
You were no stranger to the love-hate relationship when it comes to reading. If anything, that is how you’d describe your relationship when it comes to the hobby. But you were hoping that the upcoming years would treat you right and that your love for said hobby may not dissipate.
“Yeah, I would hate to lose that form of escapism from my studies.”
He nods with a small chuckle following. “I get it, I would hate to lose it, too.”
With no idea how to respond, you expect silence to follow. But Eric quickly fills it as he asks you a question. “Do you know anyone in this class?” As you shake your head, he lets out a sigh of relief. “Okay, same.”
You cannot help but giggle. “I mean, if I knew someone, then I would be sitting with them,” you point out.
You want to ask him why he chose to take a seat beside you, but he beats you to it by asking you another question. “Do you have a class before this?”
“Uh, no,” you say as you quickly take a glance at your laptop, moving the windows away to show your schedule. Since the semester just started, you didn’t memorize your schedule. “It’s my first class of the day, but my next class is around 3.” You look back at the boy who cannot hide the way he reels at your schedule.
“You have such a long break. But me too,” he says as he pulls out his phone. As he shows you his schedule, you notice how big of a gap he has for today, where his next class is happening around 6 p.m. “But at least the other days are back-to-back. I just didn’t get lucky with my Mondays and Thursdays. I tried to change it but all the professors denied my request.”
You cannot help but sigh at the sight of his schedule as you remember yours. “Same. Well, I guess we’re stuck with our shitty schedules.”
Then, he asks, “Do you want to exchange schedules and numbers, perhaps?” Your eyebrows shoot up at his question. “I mean, I just don’t know anyone here, so I’d love to at least have a familiar face I can go to, especially for this class.”
You know you’re about to enter dangerous territories. With the numerous books you’ve read, you were sure this is what books typically started their stories with—a meeting between the two protagonists whose relationship will only have room to blossom.
And you should have kept him at arm's length. You didn’t want to risk getting friendly with someone like Eric because even at the first meeting, you couldn’t help but feel yourself drawn to him. But he’s nothing but kind and there should be no problem with allotting him space to take up in your life. All you need to do is stick to your plan—no idea of pursuing romance shall be entertained until you graduate. You can only hope that your interest in him is just a happy crush, one that will never flourish further.
So you find yourself nodding to his request to which he grins. But before he can say anything, the light comes through the window. He squints as it hits his face, raising his hand to shield his eyes.
“Here, you can put your number and social media then I’ll send you my schedule.” The boyish grin on his face alongside the sunlight that makes him glow is a sight the universe has gifted to you.
You’ve read all about protagonists being bewitched by the presence of another, but works of literature have not prepared you to experience the same. For once, you wish you could find the right words to describe the sight but all you can think of is what a pleasure it is to be seeing this at the start of your day—you can only hope that your happy crush remains that way.
CHAPTER TWO: LITTLE WOMEN
The later hours of the day dawned upon you. The fluorescent overhead lights are dim as only the lamps situated at every table shine bright; you enjoy them for they never make the library bleak. The wooden interior found in every corner of this library reminds you of your own back in your childhood home. But the main act of the show is the books; the wide selection they offer has you always here at every possible hour, whether it may be to study or to possibly read for leisure.
You usually find yourself alone on most occasions spent here. If you found yourself working on a group project, you would usually opt to have such meetings at the study hall situated a few buildings away. It made sense to have those in a place where you could freely talk versus a library where it would be limited to occasional chatter or whispers. Today, however, is an exception, for you now sit across from your partner for your first paired work for Mr. Hwang’s class.
“I don’t usually spend my time here, but it’s nice,” Eric voices out as he looks around, taking in the sight of his surroundings. There were barely any students in the library around these hours. Usually, it would be you and some familiar faces you recognized because of the numerous instances you stayed here.
You’re not sure why you didn’t push for the study hall, but Eric’s explanation for choosing this place made sense. If you were going to study literature, why not do it in a place that is filled to the brim with it? It’s convenient if you need to quickly pull out a book because you’re already there. But the reality is that you liked this space as your own—somewhat like a part of the university that you believe to reflect the intimate parts of you.
You hum while you look down at your iPad where your notes are all scribbled down. “I’m always here. I spend most of my time studying or reading here.” You look up to Eric whose gaze is trained on you. Oddly enough, it feels like his eyes sparkle despite how dim the environment may be.
With that, you break eye contact with him as you look over a few tables away where you notice students who you knew only by their faces. “Yeah, like I know some of the people there just because we always seem to stay in the library until the closing hours.”
He hums before asking, “Do you know their names?” You shake your head before looking back at him.
“I only know the names of the librarians and staff. I’ve never been bothered to know the names of the other students, but we still say hi whenever we pass by each other.”
He can only nod at your words. “Sorry about interrupting the discussion, we can go back to it.”
“It’s fine.” You cannot help but smile as you shake your head. “It was a break we needed to take.”
He shoots you that boyish grin—one you’ve grown fond of after seeing him every week for class—before he continues, “So, we were talking about the confession scene of Laurie.”
“Ah, that one,” you cut him off as you lean back in your chair.
He chuckles for a moment. “So, what are your thoughts on the scene?”
You let out a sigh before saying, “Well, I am 100% on Jo’s side. I mean, she has every right to decline a man’s confession, especially if she has all these aspirations she wants to achieve.” You bite on the inside of your cheek as you recall the passages in your head. “And the audacity for Laurie to be, I guess, “jealous” of Professor Bhaer is unreasonable. I mean, it’s clear she doesn’t have room for anything romantic in her life, and I think that should be respected.”
“But,” Eric quickly scrolls through his notes found on his laptop. “Don’t we learn later on that Jo ends up longing for love in the end? Doesn’t she end up wanting both—a chance to pursue her dreams while also longing to be in love?”
You cannot help but chuckle at his counterargument. “Yes, but I think that this book was written poorly. I mean, we learned in the earlier chapters that Jo did not want to marry, and didn’t we also learn that Alcott only wrote Jo and Bhaer marrying each other because her publishers forced her?”
Eric hums for a moment. “I mean, we do learn that. But I think another way to look at it is that Jo was not ready to let someone take up such an important space at that period of her life. And I think it’s perfectly fine for her to realize later on that what she thought then is not what she wants after all.” With pursed lips, he lets his gaze flicker away from the laptop and back to you. “I know we put relevance to the context of the author, but I think it’s fine to derive our own interpretations of the text despite what the author intended, you know? That’s at least what I learned in my Art Appreciation class.”
Your partner for this assignment brought up valid points. It’s not like he was telling you to agree entirely with his interpretation of the later sequence of Little Women. Instead, he was engaging in discourse with you, sharing what he thought of the scene to provide a different perspective.
“I just,” you bite the inside of your cheek. “I just think Jo’s character was so revolutionary in the field of classics. I’ve read so much about women being viewed as individuals who are only meant to marry, but authors never put importance into their aspirations. I think that’s why I loved Jo’s character.” When you notice that Eric keeps his gaze on you without any sign that he’ll interrupt, you decide to continue. “She clearly had her priorities and wasn’t willing to let the idea of romance get in the way.”
Eric’s expression slowly starts to shift into confusion. Despite your words speaking on Jo’s character, it was starting to make sense to both of you that these sentiments came from a personal standpoint.
“Is this you speaking from experience?”
For a moment, you think of lying to the boy who sits across from you. You didn’t want to hear whatever comments he would make of your own choice to keep your love life as lackluster as possible. Yet, his eyes speak thousands of words—all revolving around curiosity. And you realize that maybe Eric won’t judge you. After all, when has he ever shown you that he would criticize you?
You sigh as you let your eyes look down at your notes. “I’m not looking for a relationship, or love, in general. I don’t think I have the time to even sustain one, and I care too much about my studies to even consider it.” You look back at Eric whose doe eyes still seem to shine.
He nods, letting silence take over. Your answer hangs in the air, almost as if you two needed it to marinate further. That is until Eric decides to break the silence.
“Do you ever get jealous of what you read?” You cannot help but tilt your head at his question. He shakes his head, trying to gather the right words to say. “I mean, you’ve read so many books, and I’m sure many of them have revolved around the theme of love and romance, especially the classics. Do you not want to experience that for yourself?”
Eric’s question seemed to be rooted in genuine curiosity. And you cannot help but ponder over his words.
It’s true that you would find yourself longing to experience the wonders of love that writers seem to talk about. It would be untrue if you said you didn’t give the idea a second thought—what would it be like to allow yourself to enjoy romance all while you study for your degree? But then you remember that there wasn’t anyone, really, to have you consider such. It was only an idea you would think about but never proceed with—there was no one to take up that space in your life to begin with.
So you sigh, shaking your head as you look back down at your notes, and say, “It’s not like anyone has given me a reason to reconsider.” You leave it at that, deciding not to indulge in the topic any further. And Eric only hums, looking back at his notes.
You take this opportunity to review your notes, recollecting every detail that is worth discussing with Eric for the upcoming presentation. Unbeknownst to you, however, your partner has his mind preoccupied with another matter—what can he do to become the reason you consider?
CHAPTER THREE: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
The moon may be shining brightly tonight, but you’ll never know. All huddled up in the library, the lamp on your table shines over your laptop and sprawled-out notes. You weren’t sure how long you’d been in this library. All you know is that you still have papers to accomplish and exams to study for.
But at least you were going through this in the comfort of your favorite spot in the university for they seemed to keep the library open all day during midterm season. And at least you had someone there to keep you company during this mess.
“This paper is impossible,” Eric complains as he rubs his eyes from exhaustion. You’re sure it’s past midnight. “What did you write your paper on?”
You cannot help but yawn. “Uh, I wrote it on Still I Rise just because it answers the prompt pretty well.” With droopy eyes, you look at your friend who now leans his head on his arm that is propped up on the table.
“Man, that’s good.” You cannot help but chuckle at his reaction. “I’m hesitant about using a poem just because I’m scared I won’t be able to share my thoughts well. Like, I know I talked about how we interpret the text as something that matters, but sometimes I cannot make sense of what these poets are saying.” His tired expression shows how long he’s been pondering on what to write.
With the paper due a few days from now, you were sure Eric was pressured to think of anything to write about. So you decide to lean back in your chair, brainstorming for anything to help him. Yet, you only draw a blank, clearly exhausted from all the studying and writing you’ve been doing.
His cackle comes out of the blue. Your eyes snap to his face, seeing that his crinkled eyes are set on you. You don’t miss how the students around your area shush him. Eric is suddenly aware of how loud he is as he cannot help but sink into his chair out of embarrassment.
“Sorry, the expression you had on your face made me laugh,” he shyly admits.
You frown at him before saying, “Fine, you’re on your own now.” Your eyes dart back to your laptop.
“Okay, wait!” He quietly exclaims as he grabs onto your forearm. Your eyes drift to his hand that rests on your arm, slowly drifting away from exhaustion. Before you can comment, he retracts his hand. “I would love your help.”
As your eyes settle on him, you notice the pout that rests on his lips. His doe eyes still manage to sparkle in the dimly lit room. The sight warms your heart—you almost let your calm demeanor falter.
“I wish I could help but for once, I can’t think of anything.” As you say those words, the cold air hits your skin. You cross your arms as a shiver runs down your spine.
Somehow, Eric is quick to catch on to your behavior. You watch how he pulls off his hoodie, hair ruffled from the action. And before you know it, he hands it to you.
“Here,” he says as he drops it right beside your laptop, covering your notes. Although you shake your head, he can only roll his eyes. “You clearly need it more than I do.”
With no sign that he’ll back down, you cannot help but sigh. You grab onto the piece of clothing and slip it on you, getting a whiff of a fruity and spicy scent that clings onto it. With how big the hoodie is, it almost acts like a blanket. And when you look back at Eric, you notice the soft expression that takes over his face—a smile that is enough to warm your heart.
“I think you should take a nap.” His suggestion has you shaking your head. “You’re clearly tired.”
You roll your eyes before going back to your laptop. “I can’t or else I’ll be behind on my tasks.”
“Okay, but if you only take an hour to nap, I’m sure you’ll feel well-rested enough to work better.”
Your friend made a valid point. At the rate you were going, you were barely absorbing anything. But you didn’t want to slack off nor did you want to fall behind on your studies.
And as if he notices your worries, he says, “I’ll make sure to wake you up an hour from now.”
You cannot hold back the smile that appears on your face. Somehow, Eric knew all the right words to say in the short span of time he has gotten to know you. And before you know it, your arms settle on the table as you find your chin settling on them. Whether it would be from pure exhaustion or Eric’s persuasion, you found yourself settling in a position good enough to allow yourself to nap.
The victory smile that takes over Eric’s features is one you wish you could smack off his face for you know it’s because you ended up listening to him, but it’s also one you want to store in your memories. His grin is enough to have you smiling back, though you bury the bottom half of your face into the sleeves of his hoodie, getting another whiff of his perfume.
He then goes back to his laptop, scrolling away at what you can assume to be the instructions for the essay required by Mr. Hwang. As you watch him ponder, you cannot help but take in his features; from his strong jaw all the way to his eyes that manage to easily shift between a strong glare to a soft gaze. He is someone sculpted by the deities—you weren’t sure why the universe chose you to be graced by his presence.
In your time knowing him, you knew that he presented himself as a goofball to many. He became the life of the party, per se, for he managed to create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone.
And yet, you knew that it’s only a mask he chooses to wear for the sake of others. In these moments, you learn that he is more than just a childish guy. Past all the layers, he is profound—you first learned that when he shared his interpretation of Jo’s character. You hope that he can find more moments where he’ll expose that side to you.
You move your chin to rest on your arms. “Can I ask what’s your favorite book?” Your sudden question has his eyes snapping at you. “I just realized that we’ve known each other for half a semester because of an English Literature class, but I never bothered to ask about your favorite book.”
He cannot help but chuckle before saying, “It’s The Notebook.” His answer has your face contorting into disappointment. “Hey, what’s wrong with that?” The way he gets defensive has you erupting into a giggle.
“It’s just okay for me. I didn’t enjoy it that much when I read it.”
He furrows his eyebrows not due to disapproval but genuine curiosity. “Okay, so what’s your favorite book then?”
“Pride and Prejudice.” The answer leaves your mouth quickly, almost like it’s second nature to answer the question with that title.
He hums before admitting, “I’ve never read it.”
“Yeah, it shows.” The remark leaves your mouth without letting a second thought come. You notice the way Eric’s expression shifts into a scornful one, and you cannot help but giggle. “I just think that you might reconsider what your favorite book is after reading Pride and Prejudice, you know?” He only nods at your words.
You let out a sigh. “I actually want to reread that book after midterms are done.” Your blinks are slow, exhaustion taking over your body.
Eric is quick to notice how sleepy you’re getting. “Go to sleep. I’ll wake you up an hour from now.” All you do is hum before snuggling the lower half of your face into the sleeves of his hoodie, eyes now closed.
A few minutes pass, and you hear a chair screech softly. You can only assume that Eric had to use the washroom. But when you heard the chair move once more only a few minutes later, you were sure that he only had to get something.
As you hear him clear his throat for a moment, you keep your eyes closed. You try your best to not show you’re awake. And once more minutes have passed, you decide that the coast is clear.
Once you open one eye, you notice that Eric is leaning back in his chair with a book in his hand. He reads it intently, unaware of your gaze on him. You let your gaze drift to the cover of the book, and it takes everything in you to hold back a gasp. In his hands is a copy of Pride and Prejudice, the same one you found yourself revisiting just to read your favorite passages.
As you let your eyes close, a smile shows on your lips. Thankfully, it is hidden by the sleeves your face is snuggled into. With the sight replaying in your head accompanied by his perfume, your heart warms at the thought of him. You can only hope that he’ll love that book as much as you do—you can only hope that this infatuation will pass.
CHAPTER FOUR: EMMA
The season of fall has come; the sky is a patchwork of hues of orange; the leaves have turned to shades of brown; the wind has gotten cooler. Long gone was the heat that summer brought—you were dying to experience the joys of autumn.
Thankfully, you finished your last class for the day. As students piled out of the classroom, you were taking your time tidying your things. For once, you didn’t have any tasks to accomplish within the day which meant tonight would be time for you to enjoy, all snuggled up in bed as you finally reread Pride and Prejudice.
You were satisfied with the grades you received from your midterm assessments. Somehow, your efforts spent studying reflected well in the feedback your professors provided. Now, you can reward yourself with reading your favorite book.
When you exit the classroom, you expect yourself to go straight back to your dorm. However, the sight of Eric Sohn standing outside with his back leaning on the wall is what disrupts your plans.
“Eric? How did you know I was here?” Your shocked expression has him chuckling.
“We exchanged schedules, remember?” He says as he stands up straight, walking closer to you. You two stood in the middle of the hallway with little to no students in sight. “I kind of got lost, if I’m going to be honest.”
As he admits that information, you cannot help but giggle. “I mean, this is where most of my major classes are. That’s why I’m surprised to see a Hotel Culinary Arts student like you here.” He shoots you that boyish grin which has you smiling back. “So, to what do I owe this pleasure? Do you perhaps need help with the upcoming assessment for Mr. Hwang’s class?” You attempt to joke as you remain unaware of the reason behind Eric’s visit.
But when he pulls out a book from behind his back, your smile shifts into a shocked expression. In his hands is a new copy of Pride and Prejudice, one different from the one that he was reading in the library that one night. As your eyes zero on the book he holds, you do not pay attention to whatever expression Eric may have.
“I finally got around to reading your favorite book, and I have to admit that you’re right. I think this might be my new favorite book,” he hands the book to you. Your hands trail over the cover, still shocked that he ended up finishing it. “And I wanted to finish it before you reread it.”
You were expecting him to only read a few chapters, but for him to find enough time to finish it before you could pick it up? You realized you were screwed.
Your hands find themselves flipping through the pages—and holy shit, there are notes and scribbles all over the pages. “I wanted to annotate it just so you can also read my reactions and interpretations as you reread it.” Your mouth parts open at his words, clearly in awe of the action.
The pages are littered with underlines and circles, highlighting passages and quotes that seem to resonate with Eric. On the margins, you notice notes that are simple one-liners and others that are long enough to fill up the pages’ spaces.
“I–I don’t,” you look up to the boy in front of you. With his smile still plastered on his face, you do everything in you to find the right words to say. Yet, it’s impossible—this is the first time someone has done this for you.
He chuckles at your lack of words and says, “I would love to stay and hear how much you enjoy this, but I unfortunately have a class to get to all the way in the Culinary Arts building.” He lets his hand rest on your shoulder, squeezing it as if it’s his way to snap you out of your trance.
But the thing is you are not in any way out of touch with reality. Not only did he give you an annotated copy of your favorite book but he waited until your last class in a building that is all the way on the opposite side of where he needs to be. And at this moment you knew you were doomed—that this budding infatuation is turning into something more.
“I’ll see you next week in class, okay?” He says with a smile. You can only nod, still unable to speak. “Or tomorrow, if you’d like.” And before you can question him, he quickly makes his way out of the building. You let your eyes watch his figure that continues to sprint away.
As soon as he’s gone, you look back down at the book in your hands. You flip through the pages as you still remain in shock at what he gifted you. That is until you notice a post-it note stuck on the last page. When you open it to the page, you expect it to be an index of what his annotations mean. Instead, it is a message directed towards you, and you cannot help but feel your heartstrings tug at his words.
would you be interested in going on a reading date with me?
❑ yes ❑ no </3
p.s. you can just text me your answer :) maybe we can plan something tomorrow (that is if you see it by the time i give this to you)
And you tell yourself that this is wrong—that you should not be considering his offer no matter how friendly it may be. But with how he’s been treating you, you almost hope that this isn’t just him being friendly. You want to be on the receiving end of his affection—of his love.
It seems stupid to go back on your word of refusing to entertain love. Your plans are focused on graduating summa cum laude without ever allocating space for someone to take up your time. But is it wrong that someone has you reconsidering what you originally thought? Is it a sin for you to want to experience the joys of love despite your past reluctance?
So for once, you fully understand Jo’s character—you want to achieve in your endeavors all while experiencing the joys of love. And there’s nothing wrong with having that mindset after all.
The season of autumn is your favorite; the sight of leaves falling is a sight you cannot help but enjoy watching. In the same way leaves fall from the tree to the ground, you have fallen for Eric Sohn.
CHAPTER FIVE: SONNET 18
“So, what’s your favorite scene from Pride and Prejudice?” You decide to ask Eric as you two pass through shelves filled to the brim with antique books.
He hums as he follows closely behind you. “I think it was the first time Lizzie and Mr. Darcy danced together.”
You glance at the boy behind you, humming along with his answer. “Yeah, I really like Austen’s use of the motif of dance.” You come to a halt as you stand in front of a shelf full of classics. “I mean, she uses dance to show attraction between Mr. Darcy and Lizzie without them even realizing it.” Once you turn your head to face Eric, you notice a smile on his lips.
“Yeah, they’re remarkable,” he mutters as his eyes remain on you.
Under his gaze, your knees start to get weak. You cannot help but gulp as you look back to the shelves with cheeks dusted red.
Today, you and Eric were in the middle of a date—not a reading one, but an actual date. At first, you were nervous about having lunch with him mainly because you weren’t sure what to talk about. But he found a way to lead the conversation, making sure to build an environment where you two could talk about anything and everything.
Eric decided to bring you to an antique bookstore near campus considering that you two share an affinity for reading—though you were more interested compared to him. The selection they have covers fictional classics all the way to nonfiction recipe books. It’s definitely smaller than what the library offers but bigger than another bookstore you tend to frequent.
As your eyes scan through the collection, your eyes catch onto a copy of Sense and Sensibility, another book by Jane Austen that you’ve been meaning to pick up. “Ah! I’ve been meaning to read this,” you exclaim as you pull it out. With your eyes still looking through the selection, you spot another book you’ve wanted to read for a while. “Oh, they also have Wuthering Heights!” As you grab onto the other book, you look down to admire the covers.
While you’re entranced by all the antique books standing in front of you, Eric cannot help but chuckle at your reaction. You whip your head only to see that god-forbidden boyish grin on his face—the same one that got you hooked onto him at the first meeting. He leans his side on the bookshelf all while he stares at you.
With that, you frown as you tilt your head. “Why are you laughing?” The question that leaves your mouth is out of genuine curiosity.
“No reason,” he starts off. “You’re pretty, especially when you talk about books.”
Your eyebrows raise in shock, thrown off by the sudden compliment. Eric has never been the type to tell you such during your time knowing him but hearing him say it now has your knees weak. Suddenly, all resolve was gone and you had no idea how to respond.
And before you know it, you say, “You’re pretty, too.”
The words come out quickly without a second thought, and only when they leave your mouth do you realize how weird you are for saying such. But you notice the way his smile gets bigger, and you cannot help but feel your cheeks warm up once more out of flusters and embarrassment.
“Are you done picking out the books you want?”
“Uh, yeah,” you start off as you glance at your books. “What are you going to get?”
He hums as he stands up straight, looking at the shelf in front of you two. “Do you have another book recommendation for me?” He looks back at you.
You bite the inside of your cheek as you hum, thinking of a book. “Maybe Jane Eyre? By Charlotte Brontë?” You’re ready to tell him the synopsis of the book, but he doesn’t spare you another second for he grabs the book.
“Okay,” he smiles as he raises the book up. “I’ll pay for your books while I’m at it.”
You immediately shake your head at his words. “Huh? No, you don’t need to.” You hold the books close to your chest. “You paid for lunch already.”
He rolls his eyes before extending his free hand out to you. “It’s fine. I want to buy these books for you.” Your eyes are wide as you slowly feel yourself moving the stack of books away from your chest. “So long as we get to have that reading date, I’m happy to buy them for you.”
You would deny his offer, but you hate to admit that the idea of having someone you like buy the books you’ve been wanting to read has your heart warming. Buying you books, reading your recommendations, and annotating a book just for you—they’re the easiest ways to your heart, and he figured them out.
With that, you find yourself handing the two books to him. He smiles as he glances at the three books in his hands. And before you know it, he quickly links his arm with you as he drags you to the cashier. You don’t know how you got lucky to know a guy like him.
CHAPTER SIX: SO TIRED BLUES
Usually, the hours of the night are the ones you find most comfort in. It’s the illusion of being away from the hours that demanded you to interact with others. You love spending your time alone doing whatever, whether it may be your own hobbies or the coursework you need to accomplish. This time of day had you in a state of tranquility, at most, for you were comforted with the idea that nothing can disturb you.
But for once, you weren’t calm during these hours. As you stare at your shared document that barely had any input from your groupmates, you feel your sanity slipping away. This assessment is due two days from now—what can your groupmates offer during this time crunch?
You lean your head in your hands as your eyes rest on your keyboard. As you let out a groan, you cannot help but grip your hair out of frustration.
“What’s wrong?”
As you look at your friend who sits beside you, you cannot help but pout. “Eric, I can’t do this.”
Despite these hours being reserved for your alone time, you chose to spend these with him. The date was a success—you two were practically inseparable at this point. But you two were still going on dates without any expectation, still exploring whatever you two truly felt towards each other.
To be fair, you were still hesitant about jumping into a relationship with him. You still weren’t sure how possible it was for you to handle your studies along with being in a relationship. And you hate to admit it but you’re terrified—what if the love you read about is nothing like what you’ll experience with Eric?
So for now, you’ll only allow yourself to enjoy what you have now. It is only when the universe forces you to confront these sentiments that you’ll figure out the answer.
He crosses his arm as he leans back in the booth you two sat on. “You want to tell me about it?” And for a moment, you consider not doing such. You didn’t want to waste both yours and Eric’s time complaining about shitty and unresponsive groupmates.
But he doesn’t give you a moment to indulge any further in those worries, for he says, “We have enough time for you to talk about it.” He shows you a smile, one that is enough to bring you comfort. “Let me become someone you can lean on.”
And with that, you find yourself spilling out your frustrations. “I’ve just been so stressed, you know? My group mates are so shit, I’m not sure how good of an output we’ll be able to submit on time,” you start off. “I’ve been reminding them nonstop to do their work, and they just keep ignoring me. And it doesn’t help that my professor doesn’t give a fuck.”
Eric cannot help but let out a hiss of annoyance at your situation. “That’s terrible.”
“I know, right? And this assessment is at least 30% of my grade. How am I going to get an A in this class if my groupmates refuse to help?” You cannot help but groan as you lean back.
As you stare up at the ceiling, you tongue the inside of your cheek as you ponder over the situation you’re in. And you’re not sure what takes over you when you share your next set of thoughts. “I just–I want to achieve so many things, but it’s so hard when you’re not supported.”
Despite your eyes staring up at the ceiling, you can feel Eric’s gaze on you as you reveal a part you’ve never shared with him. So you let out a sigh before saying, “I know I talk so much about wanting to ace all my subjects and graduate with flying colors, but some days it’s hard to keep up with that type of mentality.” You let your eyes close for a moment. “It’s hard to aspire for so many things when you don’t have someone to fall back on.”
Although you have the passion to achieve the different goals you set for yourself, it becomes impossible to keep that fire going on most days. Sure, you had friends from your course and extracurriculars, but they were never ones you could find yourself going to easily. In most instances, you would be by yourself as you were scared to insert yourself into people’s circles.
With that lack of a support system, it became difficult to attain your goal. Although you try your hardest to keep your mind set on the prize, you cannot deny that you find yourself slipping into burnout in most instances.
“I feel like I’m teetering on the edge of burnout, you know? And I know most people would say to take a break or to indulge in a hobby, but,” you look at the boy beside you whose face is full of concern. “I’m exhausted from reading.”
It’s something you didn’t like to admit out loud. Eric knew you as the person who would read at any hour if they could—the one who wishes they could consume books even while asleep. So it hurts to say that you were growing tired of the hobby—the one thing that provided you escapism.
You let out a bitter chuckle as your tired eyes drifted away from him, staring off into the distance. “It gets hard to read when all you do in a course is read. It requires so much energy, and most days I just don’t have that.” As you say those words, you let out a sigh. “And even when I forced myself to read, whether it would be for my own pleasure or a requirement for school, I could never digest the passages.”
Eric hums at your reveal. And when he reaches out for your hand, it feels as if all your worries are lifted off your shoulders. “Is there any way that I can help?”
You cannot help but chuckle as your eyes rest back on him. With his worried expression, you only show him a small smile. “No,” you shake your head. “But it’s fine. I’m glad that someone listened to me.”
It’s not like you were aiming to have your problems solved by him. If anything, you realize how much weight was lifted off of you after admitting these to a friend.
“Yeah,” he sighs. “I’m sorry I can’t do much to help you, especially with your group work.”
You can only hum as you take a deep breath. “Yeah. I just need to take over their parts and remove their names, I guess.” As you say that, Eric cannot help but nod along with a chuckle leaving his mouth.
You’re about to get back to the work you were dreading until he asks you something. “Hey, I don’t know how much this would help, but maybe I can read you some passages of where I am in The Awakening if you’d like.” Your eyes widen at his suggestion. “I’m sure you’re way ahead of me but this could be a refresher, you know? While you take a break, I can be your audiobook.”
And you cannot hold back the smile that shows on your lips. Somehow, Eric is always looking out for you, whether it be through keeping your love for literature going or making sure you are well-rested on most occasions.
With that, you find yourself leaning your head on his shoulder. As you let your eyes close, you mutter, “Yes, please.”
He chuckles at the way you seem to melt on his shoulder. And just like that, he starts to recite the words of Chopin.
As his voice fills your ears, you’re reminded of the first time you first met Eric. Something about his voice is enough to ease your worries—to bring you into a state of tranquility. And somehow, he became the late hours of the day for you—you’ve managed to find peace through his presence for all he did is support you.
CHAPTER SEVEN: HOW DO I LOVE THEE? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS
It seems like the season of fall is about to end. It’s getting colder than usual and you cannot help but wear more layers than you typically would during autumn. Although winter is about to come, however, you were seated on a picnic blanket with your back leaning against a tree trunk. And on your lap is where Eric’s head lays as he continues to read Jane Eyre.
While you were trying to read your copy of Wuthering Heights, you couldn’t help but glance at Eric every once in a while. After going on multiple dates with him throughout the semester, you weren’t sure exactly where you two were in your relationship. And you know you should take the initiative to ask, but you didn’t want to say the wrong words.
“Eric,” you call out his name as your voice quivers. He looks away from his book to stare right back at you. As he hums in curiosity, you cannot help but bite the inside of your cheek. “I have a question.”
“Shoot.”
“Why did you sit beside me?” You notice his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “During the first meeting, I mean. Why did you choose to sit beside me when there were other vacant spots?” As you say those words, you spot how his mouth parts open in realization. However, it shifts into a smug grin.
“Cause I thought you were cute.” His reply has your eyes widening in shock. You knew Eric tends to be straightforward, but you weren’t expecting that to be his answer. You were sure that your cheeks were warm at his reasoning.
He then sits up, now face-to-face with you. “Well, that’s what I thought at first. But I got to know you more through the times we studied together, you know?” With his eyes staring intently back at yours, you can hear your heartbeat in your ears.
“I mean, the first time I got to know you, you were talking about how you wouldn’t entertain the idea of romance, so I couldn’t help but become interested in you.” His hand reaches out for yours that rests on your lap. “And throughout our time together, I learned about all your hopes and dreams and your love for literature.”
You notice the way he takes a deep breath in as his eyes close momentarily. “I couldn’t help but like you,” he admits. As soon as he opens his eyes, he is met by yours that are wide as they stare back at him.
“I’m sure it wasn’t a secret with how we were going on dates, but I thought I should vocalize it now,” he starts off as he looks down at your interlocked hands. “I was starting to wish that these dates would give you enough of a reason to reconsider what you first thought—that maybe I could become a reason for you to reconsider after all.”
But as soon as he looks back at you, you feel your heartstrings tug as he draws circles on the back of your hand with his thumb. And the next thing he says is enough to warm your heart. “But I would never push you into a relationship with me. I know you care about your studies, and you worry too much about your grades. Sometimes, I wish I could tell you to take it easy.” He cannot help but giggle as he says those words, causing you to laugh along with him.
“But I hope you know that I’ll be here to support you, whether as a friend or as your boyfriend if you’ll have me.”
And you realize that you’ve been wrong all this time. You’ve fallen under this idea that the road to success means to get rid of all distractions—that love is nothing but a hindrance to the path you want to take. But it’s not that you can only have one or the other—you could choose to have both if you made the effort to do so.
In your time knowing Eric Sohn, you learned the joys of love even if you weren’t signing up for such joys came in the form of him. To you, he is what the poets describe as love embodied. From the first time you two worked together all the way to midterm season until your breakdown, you realize that he is the support you were seeking out all this time. And so you wonder to yourself how lucky you can be to receive something you weren’t seeking but still desperately craved.
So you let yourself lean forward, your face inching closer to his. His breath hitches at your action. As your eyes flicker down to his lips for a second, you cannot help but hear your heartbeat in your ears. Your eyes meet his, and you notice the way he holds his breath. So you cannot help but let yourself smile for a moment.
And before he knows it, your lips crash into his. Your hand reaches out to the side of his face while your arm wraps around the back of his neck, holding him close. His hand holds onto your waist, drawing shapes on it with his thumb.
As your noses bump against each other, Eric cannot help but giggle in the middle of the kiss. You two part away as you continue to look at each other. “So, will you let me be yours?” And his question is enough to pull on your heartstrings.
It’s the phrasing that gets to you—his choice of words to let him be yours versus you being his is what has you realizing just how much he likes you. It’s this whole idea that you didn’t have to surrender anything to him for he is willing to build around you.
But the reality is you would do the same for him—you’re willing to make space for him to take up in your life the same way he already has done for you.
And so you say, “You can be mine if you let me be yours.”
The boyish grin you first found yourself falling in love with appears on his face. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
You wish you could tell your past self that nothing goes according to plan. What you may have first thought is not what may push through in the end. While you were never signing up to find love in your years in university, the universe decided to give you a reason to reconsider. And now you know that you can have both—that you can achieve your aspirations while still being in love. All it took was time, effort, support, and a boy named Eric Sohn to have you believe that.

october 31. 9:31 pm.
snug in your favorite pair of sweatpants with a bag of candy beside you from tagging alongside your niece and some of the neighborhood kids as a chaperone to their vigorous session of trick or treating. they had roped you into the fun and torn the pillowcase off their pillows to offer you as your sweet-hauling sack for the night — you had ended up taking some girl’s pink unicorn pillowcase, in which she happily handed over with a toothless smile and a loud giggle.
safe to say, your niece began the night screaming as you had ultimately “betrayed her” for not choosing hers.
it ended up being quite fun, the roundabout, even better you had a whole two armfuls of free candy all to yourself. with your favorite halloween movies on your computer and your fairy lights illuminating your bedroom, you were sure nothing could ruin your night.
except the echo of a shatter.
“the hell…?” you murmur, pausing your movie. the sound of glass breaking downstairs catches your attention. it doesn’t sound like the usual glass cup, but more like a window or a door. “oh fuck.”
your heart skips a beat as you hear footsteps echoing through the hallway. your breath catches in your throat and you spring up to grab the nearest thing you can use as a weapon — luckily for you was a bat from your childhood. good thing you had a strong arm. or else you might as well have prayed to die from shock.
you slowly crack the door open and grip your bat, lingering outside of your door. your heartbeat was loud in your ears, eyes darting around, searching for any threat. you decide to stray a bit farther, silence following behind what was left of the echo of the intruder’s footsteps. you squeezed your eyes shut, praying it was a fat raccoon, hell, even a bear. anything that you had a chance against.
fear enveloped you like a cold blanket. quiet and frightening. you listened for a sign of anything, anyone. yet the only sound left was the remainder of trick or treaters and the few rumbling of cars down the road. your fingered trembled alongside your spine — you felt like you were going to drop onto the floor and pass out at any time.
the footsteps erupted from the darkness again. this time, they sounded closer. you turned around quickly and backed up against the closet door behind you, the sound of your labored breathing in your ears like headphones playing a song with the sound on the highest setting. you could hear yourself swallowing thickly as you looked around in raw fear, praying silently to whatever god that could hear you that the invader would think no one is home and just leave.
you finally decided to go and find the person yourself. fucking outrageous idea, yes, but if they wouldn’t leave, you’d have to make them. you forced your feet forwards and kept your head up as you made your way to the kitchen. the footsteps stopped abruptly, making you hold your breath in fear.
“who’s there?” you ask with a shaky breath. you grip the bat so hard your knuckles nearly blanched. you could feel the old wood splintering under your grasp, small pieces of wood poking into your palms. but the pain was nothing compared to the fear looming above you like a dark cloud, waiting to strike you down.
your question meets cool silence. but it only makes your shoulders tense. maybe you were just dreaming. maybe this isn’t real. thoughts swarm your head as your breathing becomes shakier, a gruff chuckle interrupts your thoughts out of the blue.
shit, shit, oh shit. your hands begin to quiver as the voice pools right next to your ear, like fear coming to greet you. you couldn’t see them, it was too dark — yet they were right on the other side of this wall. yet you couldn’t cry and give up, you had to do something. you vowed to never let anyone fuck you over, and especially not like this.
“you should never say 'who’s there?' don’t you watch scary movies?” the voice stirred. your shouldered stiffened as all of the strength in your fingers threatened to give out and drop your weapon. “it’s a death wish. might ‘s well come out now.”
you took note of where you stood. the kitchen counter was just next to the entrance of the kitchen where you currently were — maybe you could push them against it, render them immobile. anything to get you the upper hand; there was no way you could sit here, weak in the knees. weak in the knees?
you kept your mouth shut as you held the bat firmly, struggling not to let your trembling fingers give your position away, even if it was painfully obvious where you were. the stranger sighed, making you shiver — it was almost if their breath was right up against your neck, lingering by your ear. you two were mere moments away from one another, both not planning to move.
“well, if you won’t move,” they droned. “i suppose i will.”
in one quick motion, the intruder turned the corner and pinned you against the wall in which you stood, revealing the cloaked figure that has been tormenting you so calmly for the past half an hour. you screamed, nearly dropping your bat at how fast they had moved to catch you. you were frozen in fear. and you hated it.
“oh, dear.” they mused, leaning into your face. their arm was just level to your skull — where you realized they had driven a hooked blade into your wall, only inches away from your head. you could hear yourself breathing shakily as you straightened your posture, attempting to seem more menacing.
you were face to face with a mask. a long, ghostly face; one with droopy black eyes and an empty, sullen mouth shaped as if melting off the formation of its skull — the sullen feeling of distress and pain apparent in its face.
“oh, darling,” the voice behind the mask made your legs shake. “why so scared? ‘m only here to say hello.” they took your chin in their hand and tutted it in their direction.
you nearly went numb in fear as the hooded figure chuckled lowly. “so much occupied space between us — i’d rather fill it up with something more — interesting.” their fingers ghsoted your skin as they traveled up the wooden bat to the top, persuading you to let go. but as you stood, quivering in fear, they slipped the bat out of your hands and threw it to the ground with a large clatter.
“much better.” they said, the slight smirk evident in their tone. “i saw you trying to catch up to those kids you were chasing. babysitting, perhaps? i didn’t see any children around here,” the ghost-faced stranger pondered, looking around for any sight of a stubby toddler down the hallway. as soon as they were sure you weren’t someone’s parent — their attention turned back to you.
“you looked so stressed out there,” they cooed, their tone making your blood boil. “mind letting me help you out?” you gasped as the hand that was once propping your chin up slid down to grip your shoulder. “you don’t fucking know me.” you snarled. “i’ll fuck you up.”
the masked intruder laughed at your advances, making you all the angrier. “oh, how i would adore seeing you try.” they leaned in, the ghostly mask now only inches away from your face. “i bet your pretty head is full of ideas. god, now you’ve got me all excited.”
you scoffed. “i bet.” you reached out and index finger to point out the tent in their tunic. “now, will you let me handle you or not?”
this was a stupid idea — fucking some rando who just broke into your house at 9 pm on halloween? what the fuck kind of idea is that? but they were right, you were pent up — and after all of that candy, you surely weren’t going to sleep for a good few hours.
the stranger hummed, inching away from your face. “might as well. your efforts will be wasted anyway.”
you wasted no time grabbing them by the waist and flipping them around, slamming their back into the wall. you felt down their body as the cloaked one gasped, your hands trailing from their hips to their inner thigh as you hoisted the material up.
“no underwear, hm?” you said as you were met immediately with the burglar’s hard cock. they chuckled breathily as you made quick work of your hands, wrapping them around their dick as you stroked them up and down. “so b-boring,” the masked thief stuttered. “c’mon, hurry up and get to the good part.”
you rolled your eyes — what a needy whore. “shut up ‘n take what i give you. either that or i can call the cops.” they sigh shakily as you speed up your pace, thumbing their dripping tip as the invader’s breaths get more erratic. their fingers dig into the wall behind them, feeling around for some type of leverage good enough to keep them stable. little whines slipped from their lips as they bucked into your hand, making you laugh and push away.
“you’re so easy,” you tease, watching as the person behind the mask whimpered and turned their head to look at you. “and here you were, talking so fucking big. i should just leave your sorry ass here and call the police.”
they sucked their teeth as you dipped down onto your knees. “oh? are you giving up?” you scoffed as you prodded at their slightly shaky knees. “hold up your fucking shit and shut up and turn around. i want to get this done quickly before something else gets into my house through whatever entry you got in from.” you pushed the bottom half of the tunic into their hands as they turned sheepishly to face the wall. “why?”
“you said “get to the good part”. so i am. are you questioning me?” you asked. the person shook their head slowly as you nodded. “good. now stay still.”
your hands gripped the back of their thighs as you pushed your head in between their ass. they yelped, your hot breath against their fluttering hole making them shiver. “wait, what are you doing down — fuck!”
they gasped loudly as your tongue began to lap slowly at their rim, hands spreading their asscheeks apart to gain better access. your tongue worked skillfully around their hole, making the anonymous criminal drop their costume and push their hands into the wall.
“the hell did i say?” the stranger whined at your tone. “i — i don’t — i don’t know!” they sniffled, making you tsk at their pathetic pleads. your head swam freely with ideas of what you’d do to them for punishment — but you didn’t have anything on you. so a nice spank would suffice.
you lifted your hand from their ass and brought it back down forcefully, causing the cloaked person to sob (and arch their back a lil too 😏). “i just said it a few minutes ago. hold up your fucking shit.” you demanded. their left hand moved quickly to hold up the bottom of their tunic again. once they felt your sigh on approval against their hole again, they sniffled and squeezed their eyes shut under the mask as you continued to ravage their ass.
from sheepish whimpers to loud moans, this poor puppy was proven to be all bark and absolutely no bite. “even beneath a mask, you’re still just a little bitch.” you laughed meanly against their hole as your fingers roamed from spreading their ass to accompanying your tongue by their rim. “i — i uhm — fuck, i—” they squealed, the feeling of your fingertips lingering against their wet hole making their legs quiver. “wait, no, are you gonna — i can’t, ‘m gonna cum!”
you snickered again as your tongue pushed through their barrier just a bit, milking another shocked whine from their mouth. “i think you can handle it, don’t you think? it’ll feel even better than just my mouth.” you broke away from their leaking ass as shaky breaths followed your words. your heart skipped an extra beat as you saw their head completely crashed downwards, staring at the space in between their legs. the masked stranger let out a quivering exhale as they nodded weakly. “i want it in. put your finger in me. please?”
and that was all of the clearance you needed. you pressed your face back into their ass as you continued to eat it out. your fingers pushed through the crowd underneath as you slowly eased it in beside your tongue. “fu — fuck!” they moaned, throwing their head back as their fingers gripped around the black material of their robe. “good, good — more, please, want you deeper!”
“‘m sorry for breaking in — s-so good — i uhm, i jus’ — fuck..!” you ignored how awful that first part sounded as you quickened your pace and thrusted your finger inside of the ghost-masked intruder, feeling them slipping from their position as their back arched further into you. you could tell they were about to cum. legs shaking, knees buckling — all of the signs stuck out like a bright lantern in the dead of night.
if it wasn’t halloween and kids weren’t still yelling outside, the way this bitch moaned surely would have gotten the cops called for you. “please don’t stop, ‘m gonna cum — wanna cum for you, all for you, jus’ please don’t stop fuckin’ me!”
even if you were lockjawed and your wrist was about to give out, you sped up your pace just to hear those pathetic squeals and pleas — they would be of your name. if your poor puppy knew it in the first place. “can i cum? please lemme cum! so close, i’m so fuckin’ close!” you sighed into their hole, making them shiver once again. “fine. but only because you asked nicely.”
all they needed was “fine” — not like they could hear anything else. they were far too busy screaming and nutting all over your fucking wall to hear what else you had to say. hell, the damn bitch came so much you might as well paint your wall white!!! 🙄 their last spurts of cum shot out all over your floor as their legs finally gave out on them, causing them to drop to their knees and sink onto the ground. you came up behind them and pulled them up onto you so that they leaned against you on the floor.
“so, stranger,” you inquired softly and slowly so that their mushy brain could comprehend your words. “what should i call you?”
they looked up through the falling eyes of the ghostly mask that covered their face.
“ghostface. you — you can call me ghostface.”

I wonder if you have thoughts on like.... the other members of his grove? and halsin relating to them? bc apart from rath and maybe two more, they all seem very dicky to me 🤔 and ya, halsin said it's been a burden, and being a kind-hearted dude like him leading a bunch of bastards that think so highly of themselves could definitely contribute to the stress. I guess i don't get it? the one at the steps by the bear is like 'hold on give them a chance' @ the bear when we come in but then in the same breath is like 'no step further or i show you my claws' and seems like has to be talked down from being hostile by third druid; then later when we stop the ritual she's like 'we stopped the chanting but that doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful to this place' and some rando other druid went something along the lines of 'you're overstaying your welcome' - im just thinking how horrible halsin's life must have been surrounded by pricks like that 😔
Short version: yeah, everyone but Rath, Nettie, and Apikusis suck lol
Long version: everyone but Rath, Nettie, and Apikusis suck, BUT you can see several who are having doubts about what they're doing, and many of them come back to themselves once Halsin returns.
There were, I think, multiple things going on here:
By his own admission, Halsin wasn't a very strong leader. He never had leadership skills taught or modeled for him before becoming Archdruid, and further, his promotion was under incredibly traumatic circumstances. The survivor guilt, the admiration he had towards the previous Archdruid, likely left him not wanting to fully engage with the role out of fear of replacing him or at least seeming to do so.
The refugee situation was noted to be causing stress at the Grove as supplies were dwindling (I guess we're supposed to forget Goodberry is a spell ANY Druid can do, lol). This would have not only sown resentment against Halsin and the refugees for putting them in this situation, but crucially, it would have given an outsider enemy for the Grove. Cults (like the Shadow Druids) operate at their strongest when they have a threat, or appearance of one, to unite members and potential members under. "We are the only ones who can keep you safe from these outsiders who may be from hell itself, who are using all your supplies and contributing nothing, who are the reason you're being attacked by goblins every other day." And Halsin, as much as I love him, showed poor judgment in going with the goblins at that precise moment, and with little explanation to the others. It shows where his heart and priorities are- always with the Shadow-Cursed Lands first- but that would not be an endearing things for his stressed Druids.
Kagha not only fell in with this cult, but unfortunately, she had a lot of what Halsin was lacking as a leader- she just chose to use this skills for evil. She was persuasive (something Halsin admits he wasn't so good at), she presented herself as being concerned with the group's welfare in a way Halsin wasn't quite able to do (since his heart was elsewhere), and her zealotry seemed preferable to the other Druids in contrast to Halsin's mixed attention.
This cannot be understated: the Grove was deliberately targeted by Ketheric Thorm. He knew from experience that the Grove posed a significant threat, and he ordered his underlings to make contact with the Shadow Druids and send them to the Emerald Grove, to either persuade them to carry out the Rite of Thorns or at least cause so much division that the social bonds collapsed entirely and the Grove was left too divided to be able to accomplish anything. Ketheric and the Shadow Druids were able to find all of the above weaknesses and exploit them effortlessly.
So then it became a game of scapegoating, which is a favored recruitment technique of cults. "We're here because of the Other, and because our leader was too weak to fix the problem before it got this bad. We need a new leader; a leader who cares only for us and isn't afraid to tell the truth about these immigrants refugees who want to destroy America our Grove by leading gangsters and drug lords goblins right to us! Build the Wall Perform the Rite of Thorns!"
No one is immune to propaganda and everyone is a potential target for cults. It very well could be that all of the Druids, even Kagha, were once genuinely kind people who were manipulated by the cult into believing their kindnesses would get the Grove destroyed; they took on the "it's us or them" mentality.
For the timeframe to work, it either would have had to be happening in secret before Halsin left, or Halsin would have had to be gone for a while; since we know it wasn't TOO terribly long but hadn't JUST happened either, my guess is that Kagha had been spreading Shadow Druid doctrine in secret for some time, and had been planning to usurp Halsin's position even if he hadn't been kidnapped. That just made it easier once it happened. (There is a formal process within the Druids to challenge an Archdruid for their position; I don't know if Halsin even would have fought Kagha that hard if she kept her true intentions a secret. He had faith in her at this point after all, and didn't want the leadership position. That's a terrifying thought.)
So, then, Halsin comes back, and sees evil ideas spreading in all his Druids, starting with Kagha. Depending on the player's actions, he may or may not know it goes deeper than her. He can also see that his reputation has been severely damaged, if not ruined, in his absence; almost none of the Druids have any respect for him anymore. So he makes the wise decision to bring in Francesca, who they have no choice but to respect, and backs away himself. At this point, he intends to return someday when the Druids have been deprogrammed, but of course, later he decides it's not worth it anyway.
So back to: how bad must his life have been surrounded by that? Well, as mentioned, my headcanon is he wasn't surrounded by it very long, if at all. He thought everything was just normal, until he got back from being kidnapped and quickly found it very much wasn't. Whether that's better or worse, though, is up to interpretation. What's worse- seeing those you love fall victim to a cult, or thinking everything is completely fine, and then one day discovering they've been sucked in deep and there's nothing you can do to persuade them anymore since they've come to see you as The Enemy?
In any case, Halsin deserved much better, and I like to think he keeps in touch with Nettie, Rath, and Apikusis after the epilogue, even if he keeps his distance from the Grove itself.

Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw was annoying, and you hated him. Yeah, you despised him. All you two have ever done is argue and (passive-aggressively) insult each other.
So, why were you red from jealousy watching him flirt with one of Nix's friends?
Okay, maybe you lied. Maybe, you have had this massive crush on Rooster since you joined the Naval Academy. He was charming, funny and intelligent, not to mention hard-working and efficient. He was four years older than you and usually hung out with the older students.
All you could do was admire him from afar. Admiration turned into liking, which later developed into something more than a crush. But you never told anyone—you'd be crazy to do so. You've never even spoken to each other.
Until one night changed everything.
You don't remember much from the night. One of your acquaintances was throwing a party, and after a particularly hard day, you'd decided to join your friends.
You were having fun until you weren't. You hated dividing people into stereotypical categories like people did in high school, but bullies exist wherever you go. In that case, even in the Naval Academy.
The guy was drunk, and so was half of his friend group. You don't even remember what he was making fun of you because all you could focus on was him. Bradley Bradshaw was part of that friend group, and—it might've been the alcohol talking—but he was checking you out.
He'd finally noticed you.
After that party, he paid more attention to you. But not the kind of attention you wanted. It started with small jokes about your ability to fly a plane. Sometimes you'd chuckle at them, for his jokes were creative and funny.
But he didn't stop there. You quickly realised he wasn't laughing with you but at you. It hurt you, but your crush towards him didn't disappear as you'd like. It grew stronger.
So, you stopped entertaining him and his friends. You couldn't understand why he kept making jokes that turned into insults when he knew you wouldn't react to them.
It was a stressful day for you when you finally burst. You were training in the air, and you'd gotten paired against Rooster. He was throwing passive-aggressive jabs throughout the exercise, resulting in you nearly losing control of the plane. You'd gotten off your seat so fast, yelling at him for almost getting you killed.
From that point on and forward, all you two did was argue. Argue over the smallest of things. Were you at the top of the class? Rooster beat you when the next test came around. Were you planning on going to a bar? Rooster was there to ruin your night.
It was so much worse now that you were in Top Gun. You felt the obligation to look and be better than good, not only in front of him but to the rest of the men. Women in the Navy were rare, and you'd fuck Rooster up if he'd try to ruin the reputation you fought so hard to gain.
Despite your dislike of his behaviour towards you, you could never shake off the butterflies you got when he walked into a room or the blush coating your cheek every time he addressed you by your callsign.
You just wished—just for a minute—that he could look at you differently. You didn't want his glaring or snarky comments, but the charming smile he gave everyone when he entered the Hard Deck and the attention he paid to Nix's friend—what was her name again? Maria?
"If you keep glaring at them like that, people might start getting ideas," Phoenix whispered in your ear, and you could hear the smirk in her voice.
"Just lost in thought, Nix. I'm not looking at them."
Co-comparison is killing me slowly.
Her hair was smoother and silkier than yours. You could see how healthy and shiny it looked, even across the room, whereas yours was tired from being on a tight bun all day.
Her clothes fit her amazingly. Tight shorts and a white crop top highlighted her cleavage and perfect tan. You, on the other hand, had opted for a baggier pair of shorts and a Hawaiian button shirt that Rooster had teased you for having. I know you want to be like me, baby, but this is going too far. God, you wished he would comment on it now.
I'm so sick of myself.
I'd rather be, rather be,
anyone, anyone else.
Jealousy, Jealousy.
You'd rather be anyone else at this moment. You couldn't bear to watch the pair laugh, talk and for Rooster to completely ignore your presence. You were so used to having him around you, throwing insults, commenting on your appearance and getting red when you threw snarky comments back.
I wanna be you so bad, and I don't even know you.
You wanted to be her. Listen to the enchanting way he spoke and watch as he moved his hands around while explaining or narrating a story. You wanted to be the centre of his attention, the reason he was smiling. The urge to punch him was still there, but the fucking fluttering in your stomach was overpowering it.
She was so beautiful—you don't even think she was trying. Her smile and her posture. The way she held her beer, how she leaned on Bradley when she laughed, or how she lightly hit his shoulder when he teased her. Everything was perfect. This Maria girl was flawless—and you hated it.
All I see is what I should be.
Happier, prettier, jealousy, jealousy!
All I see is what I should be.
I'm losing it. All I get's; jealousy, jealousy!
I have to stop, you think. You have to look away. The staring is getting creepy, and your self-esteem drops significantly each second that passes. Jealousy courses through your veins along with the remnants of your beer.
You decide that's enough sulking. You came to the Hard Deck to drink and have fun with your friends. Rooster can go fuck himself. Or better yet, fuck the pretty blonde currently hanging off his arm.
"Where've you been all night, Swift?" You hear Coyote call you, as you approach the pool table.
"Here and there!" You shout over the loud chatter.
You watched as Hangman tried to get the pool ball in the socket but missed terribly, and suddenly the lightbulb above your head turned on. You had a terrible idea. The alcohol, combined with the jealous feeling running through you, gave you the push you needed to execute it.
"Hey, Hangman. Let me show you how to win this thing." You said as Fanboy shot the ball right into the socket.
You approached him, grabbing the pool stick and calling him behind you, and you set your hips at the right angle, your hands finding the right spot on the stick before calling him to come behind you. He placed his hands on yours, his body flush against yours.
Right before you hit the ball, you look in the direction of Rooster. Maria is talking excitedly, but he's not paying attention to her. His eyes are fixated on you, and you find yourself smirking. Why are you smirking? He could have been glancing around, and you just accidentally caught his eye. That might've been the case, but the way he's glaring at the man leaning above you says otherwise.
Is Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw...jealous?
That'll teach him for flirting with another girl.
With precise movements, the ball is inside the socket, and you both cheer, high-fiving. "Yeah! That's how you do it, baby!"
You turn to his direction again, wanting to savour his reaction but what you see is more than enough to break your heart into tiny pieces. Bradley is kissing Maria. And it's not just a peck on the lips but a full-blown make-out session in the middle of the bar. And your heart breaks, just like when you realised he was laughing at you with his friends.
Your eyes tear, and you look down to avoid anyone spotting them. You look at your watch—23:17. You blink rapidly and look up, your eyes meeting Nix's worried ones.
Nix knew. She had caught you staring at him once too many times with that disgusting lovesick look in your eyes—her words, not yours. She'd pressured you until you finally caved in and told her about your infatuation with Rooster.
She looked concerned and apologetic, but it wasn't her fault. Maria wasn't at fault either. The woman was here to have fun—your stupid feelings had nothing to do with her. It wasn't her fault she happened to be extremely attractive and flirting with the pilot you hated but also wanted to fuck. Wow—that's a discussion for another time.
"I-I'll be going now. Good luck on your game, Hangman." You smiled at Jake, but it didn't reach your ears.
You grabbed your bag from the chair next to the pool table, responding to anyone who said goodbye to you. You were halfway to the door when Nix caught up to you.
"Are you okay?" She asks, touching your shoulder gently.
You just nod, wanting nothing more than for your bed to swallow you. But of course, you can't have that.
"Yo, Swift! Where are you going?!" Coyote's voice is loud enough to attract unwanted attention.
You open your slightly quivering lips, smiling as much as you can. "I'm tired from beating your ass all day in training today! I'm heading home."
"You didn't look tired to me a few minutes ago."
"Are you disrespecting a woman's choice, Coyote? While inside the Hard Deck?" Phoenix calls out, and the people who've gone quiet oh at her comeback.
Your eyes unintentionally shift towards Rooster, but you immediately regret it and turn your gaze elsewhere. His arm is around Maria's waist, but he's looking your way with—is that a worried look he shoots your way? Nah, it can't be. But what if it is? I'm not looking back again.
"Hey, Penny! Coyote just disrespected a woman! Ring the bell, please!" Nix's voice brings you out of your thoughts.
The bell rings, and she nods at you. This is your perfect chance to slip out unnoticed. The crowd cheers at Coyote, and he's defeated yet smiling expression. You're out of the bar in seconds.
But your quick getaway is the reason you missed how Rooster's expression fell when you left his eyesight. Or how Maria's waist felt too cold to hold—so he let her go—and how his face twists into regret as soon as he finds Phoenix's glare fixating on him.
You missed the mumble that escaped his lips; "What have I done?"

The Batch finished up their latest mission, picking up a new passenger along the way. Y/N was a Force sensitive hitching a ride to a planet they would be passing on the way to Kamino. She would only be with them a few standard days on the Marauder, and the crew made sure she had a comfortable stay.
Within two days Hunter was smitten. He usually kept himself from developing any attachments to nat borns. But...well, this one was different...and difficult to ignore. Of course, he still engaged with her politely. Being a Sergeant and host on this transport, he kept some distance.
Y/N was attractive. Not conventionally, as he wouldn’t consider himself attracted to just ANY pretty face. But she had that...thing. An essence? Something that just took him out at the knees. It was elusive...
...and she smelled SO GOOD. Hell, even when she was sweaty, dirty, just woke up in the morning...heady scent of her body odor with the slightest tang of her sex...
Hunter shifted in the pilot’s seat. His armor codpiece felt tight. Dammit, he NEEDED to stop getting distracted. He was supposed to be sitting watch on the ship.
Technically Echo was to stand this shift. However, he was under the weather and now lying down like the rest of his brothers.
Hunter could hear Crosshair breathing, Echo’s ticking mechanical heart, and smell Tech’s drool...as he slept face down with mouth open. Wreckers' snores were like a power tool, until his sleep apnea kicked in. Hunter would count the seconds unconsciously holding his own breath too...until Wrecker finally inhaled.
Hunter inhaled deeply just thinking about it...
...until Y/N sighed in her sleep. The sound brought his attention back to the heat and tightness in his groin.
Cut it out Peck! Hunter internally warned his cock.
Yes, Hunter nicknamed his pecker. And he admitted it to NO ONE! Although, he came close one time when Echo confidentially revealed to Hunter that he named his scomp.
Oh Broody...you’re such a tight ass PRUDE!
Hunter shot up from the chair looking around the cockpit. He SWORE he heard a whisper so close...unsure if it was outside or INSIDE HIS HEAD!!!
KRIFF, I’m hearing things. Although, it was his THIRD consecutive day of chronic insomnia. Was he hallucinating?
Listening again, Hunter could perceive everyone was asleep and accounted for. He sat back down.
Broody...it’s me! Peck!!! In a strangely soft but high-pitched voice.
Then the voice started clucking.
Hunter spun around in the chair. He felt for CERTAIN there were NO CHICKENS on the Marauder. Shit...he REALLY needed to start taking that nasty tasting sleep medication Tech concocted.
Finally lost my mind...was bound to eventually happen. Lack of sleep, having to look after his bonehead brothers, save Echo, and... sitting here alone in the starlit darkness. Running his hand down his face and resigned himself to having an internal discussion with his own cock. What would it hurt? Besides everyone was asleep. Let’s just go with it and see...
Peck? Hunter called out with his mind.
Yeah Broody?
I’m NOT a prude. Just polite.
Y/N is a grown ass woman, Hunter. You CAN talk to her.
What would I say?
She needs MORE than those furtive glances and puppy dog eyes. Show her the WOLF you are, Hunter.
She’s our guest NOT a sex object!
Oh...so she’s NEVER had an impure thought about YOU?
A very feminine moan and a sigh wafted from the pallet Y/N was sleeping on the bunk room floor. She must have been having a hell of a dream...as Hunter could smell her wet arousal.
Hunter’s cock was now becoming painful with an intense pressure against his codpiece.
Clucking...C’mon ole boy. Would you deny yourself the opportunity of a grown woman’s consent?
You DON’T KNOW if she even thinks about me THAT WAY!
Oh YES I DO!
Hunter ripped the codpiece off and threw it behind him. His girthy engorged cock staining through his blacks...and leaving a wet spot.
Ohh...THANK FORCE you let me out! Suffocating in there!!! Clucking...
SHUT UP! Hunter pushed his pecker down between his legs, then crossed them tightly.
Mmhmm, hmm, mhm mmm... Muffled speech. Clucking intensified.
DANK FERRICK! She did look at him a lot and smiled. He could sense her body reacting to him MUCH differently than his brothers. The thrumming of her presence on his senses. Something he guessed was her Force sensitivity. It would tickle his nerve endings and make him shiver...in a VERY good way. Was Y/N flirting with the Force? Hunter wasn’t exactly sure.
But he didn’t want to take advantage and come off as a creep.
Hunter was so caught up in his head he barely registered a rustling...
...and swung the chair around to face...
...Y/N standing there, blanket wrapped around her shoulders, eyes hooded in desire.
Hunter sprang up out of the chair and his cock sprang up from between his legs. His expression was of dumb embarrassment due to all the blood rushing away from his brain.
Her gaze lingered on his cock. Then she stared him straight in the eyes...
...and dropped her blanket. She was buck naked.
Hunter’s jaw dropped. Y/N giggled seductively, strolled over to Hunter and pressed everything she had up against him.
He almost died of heart failure but managed to gently slide both hands up her back in a tender caress.
“Are you sure???”
“Yes, Hunter...PLEASE EAT me and FUCK me!” With that she grabbed two handfuls of his luxurious hair and devoured his mouth.
Hunter, ever the gentleman who could follow directions to the letter, obliged her.
Tumblr media
“Permission to FINALLY stop drooling upon the sheets? Feel like I’m still on Kamino...” Tech whispered.
Quiet moaning from the cockpit area.
Echo whispered back on the comm channel “Everyone, the coast is clear. Target engaged.”
Everyone received the order via earpiece. They could now relax and drop the ruse of being asleep.
Tech sighed, “Now I can FINALLY get in the refresher. He was spending an abnormal amount of time in there lately...”
“Look who's talking, Mr Clean. Wrecker piped up. “Shiniest dick in the galaxy.”
“At least Hunter cleans the cum off the shower walls.” Tech shot Wrecker a baleful stare
“Ey, can’t help I got a big dick.” Wrecker smiled like a shithead, nodding at Tech’s crotch. “Can’t help making a BIG splash...and miss some at times.”
“ARE YOU IMPLYING MY REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN IS LESS THAN SUFFICIENT SIZE???”
Echo interrupted on comm, “Will the two of you QUIET THE FUCK DOWN! Our target will disengage...and Y/N will not acquire the asset!”
Wrecker giggled, “Oh, she’s definitely acquiring that ASS-ET!” Getting louder again.
Echo and Tech shushed him again.
Clucking continued over the coms...
Echo slid to the edge of his bunk and looked up. Crosshair lay on the top bunk, pillow pressed savagely over his face. He was shaking and clucking like a deranged farm fowl.
“If I had known you’d carry on so much, would have been the voice myself. Plus, you SERIOUSLY veered off script!” Echo sneered. Wondering if he was the only one on this ship, save their guest, to have at least one brain cell.
His musing was interrupted by much louder moans, sexual swears, and the wet slapping of flesh.
“Engage ear protection. Sound cancelling level 10. NO eavesdropping, men. We may be feral and efficient commandos, but we STILL have some semblance of morals!”
The clucking turned to coughing. “That’s what YOU think!” Crosshair finally got a hold of himself.
Echo rolled his eyes and threw the covers over his head. Thankfully N/A being Force sensitive was able to help them by dampening their ambient noise to Hunter's senses and...
...OH!
Echo’s eyes popped open realizing...she ALSO had to give CROSSHAIR access to the mental conversation in Hunter’s head to be as effective a voice as possible!
And... Crosshair laughed all through it like a fucking MANIAC!
Echo sighed. That boy ain’t right....

step bro kiba…jealous step bro…😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫im gnawing on my enclosure
18+ MDNI, fem!reader // cw: stepcest, alcohol
divider credit: @/benkeibear
Tumblr media
the most entertaining thing is that if you haven’t done anything before, he can’t even really show that he’s jealous without outing his attraction to his little sister?
but it’s kiba we’re talking about here, so of course he’s going to exhibit envy one way or another, even if it might come across as a little bit childish sometimes. so it’s all “do it yourself” and “why don’t you ask naruto to help ya out since he’s so perfect” and shoving you out of the way and out of his room and whatever the fuck, because the fact that you’re texting and possibly going out with his friend bothers him that much.
you try to go the rational route and take it that he’s upset because you’ve stolen his friend from him and are slowly forcing yourself even further into his life; even further into his friend group. and while that would be a completely plausible reason, it’s so far from the truth.
he shows you that when he comes back home completely wasted one late night. you’re awake because you’ve secretly been waiting for him to return; sitting on the couch in the living room and not really paying much attention to the TV show that’s been playing for the last hour or so.
you rush to greet him as soon as the door clicks shut like a good little sister, but rather than saying hello, you instead have to crouch down and help him untie his shoes — he’s so shit-faced that when he bends over to do so himself, he stumbles a bit and almost tips over once or twice.
you’re taken aback by the sight. it’s very, very, very rare to see kiba be this level of drunk — the last time it happened was on the day that hana, his actual sister, had gotten married. he’s a big man after all, he handles his liquor extremely well; always holding his posture straight and his movements fairly precise no matter the amount of drinks he’s consumed. but now he’s over here absolutely wasted, barely standing upright unless you help him out.
and you do help him out, of course you do, even if he doesn’t ask you to! there’s this crooked, almost infuriating half-grin sitting on his face the entire time you kneel before him and take care of his shoes for him, and he’s — much to your surprise — feeling awfully chatty all of a sudden, despite the fact that he still refused to talk to you before leaving the house just mere hours ago.
so you help him up the stairs, letting him rest most of his weight on you by draping his arm over your shoulders and by leaning into you even if you feel severely out of breath by the time you finally reach his bedroom and stumble through the door with him.
leaving the door wide open behind you, you’re thankful that your parents are out of town for the weekend because with the way he keeps on snickering and speaking in a tone of normal volume instead of a whisper, you’re sure he’d wake them up instantly.
his grin grows slightly bigger as you keep him standing and proceed to take his shirt off because you know that he sleeps without one — it’s knowledge that makes you feel kind of funny inside, being his stepsister and all that. by the time the shirt hits the floor and your fingers reach lower to unbuckle his belt so that you can help him out of his pants, he’s outright beaming with nothing short of arrogant delight as he straightens to his full height again.
truth be told, you don’t know why you continue to act so nice towards him when he’s been nothing but mean to you ever since you told him about the possibility of going out with his friend. he’s made it quite clear that he doesn’t approve of it and that he finds you responsible for the entire thing even if naruto had been the one to slide into your DMs first, not you. what’s even worse is that he simply refuses to change his mind about it and doesn’t even want to give you a chance.
and yet despite all of that, you keep being a sweetheart to your big brother because, well, he’s exactly that — your big brother. it’s the reason why you’ve somewhat expected him not to take the news all that well and for him to start acting overprotective over you and judgy over naruto. after all, it’s what a big brother does. right…?
what a big brother doesn’t do, however, is get all up into your personal space while tugging on the hem of your shirt, saying that it’s ‘your turn’ to take it off now. what he doesn’t do is smirk and laugh this quiet, rude snicker as you place your hands on his chest to lightly push him onto the bed when he gets too close for comfort. what he doesn’t do is grab you by the wrist and drag you into bed with him when you try to leave after tucking him in.
his skin is so hot that it makes you feel like you’re burning under the covers as he holds you close, too close. you’re chest to chest, his broad palm is on your back, fisting your t-shirt, and his legs are entangled with yours. he’s dressed in nothing else but his underwear and he keeps on talking nonsense; slurring on his words about something along the lines of how you shouldn’t leave him for ‘that stupid fuckin’ loser’ who wouldn’t even know how to properly take care of you, that you have everything you need right here — can’t you see that?
you don’t expect him to kiss you while he’s in the middle of telling you off, but it happens anyway. maybe it’s because you’re nose to nose, and the room is dark and the hour is late, and you’re looking at him with that innocently sweet look in your eyes that he’s always found so fucking hard to resist, but either way; it happens so out of the blue, the kiss.
does it, though…? no, not really, you suppose. you’ve both been acting quite improperly around each other for quite some time now, leaving little hints here and there and looking at each other for too long as you grow older, so it was bound to happen at one point or another. you’re just glad that it happened while the house was empty.
it’s why you let him continue… as well as for other reasons.
his lips are soft and warm against your own, just like they’ve always been whenever he’d kissed you on the cheek in the past. he pushes his tongue inside your mouth the second you let out a little gasp of surprise and you can immediately taste the liquor that laces his spit — it’s what’s to blame for why he’s kissing you in the first place.
eventually, you start to writhe against each other as things grow hotter and instinct takes over. he touches you all over and your heart is beating so fast the entire time that you feel like it’ll explode inside your chest at any given moment.
it practically starts to rattle behind your teeth by the time his hand slides into your panties. he’s so drunk that his movements are clumsy and sloppy as hell as he spreads your pussy lips apart slightly and smears your arousal all over, but you’re so thrilled by all the risk and by having his cock in your own hand, that you hardly even notice.
minutes pass, more clothes come off. before you know it, he’s somehow managed to get on top of you and is sucking on your tits and stuffing you full with his thick fingers. you’re so wet that he can barely hide his smile as his tongue circles your nipple and his teeth nip at your skin. his digits keep on sliding back in so fucking easy, causing your hole to flutter around them, and you’re whimpering and whining in response, voicing these cute little sounds that make his cock twitch.
you’re both so horny for one another that you feel like you’re going to drop dead. all these feelings that you’ve been repressing for each other are rushing to the surface now and neither of you knows how to tame them.
“see?” he keeps on saying, the drawl in his voice as prominent as ever because of the booze that’s still coursing in his system. “told ya i could handle you better, sis… doesn’t this feel so fuckin’ nice, mm?”
the jealousy makes him want to prove a point so bad — it licks his skin with white-hot fire. god, as he looks at you, breathing so hard and mewling for him like a little kitty, he wants to beat the crap out of anyone who’d try to steal you away from him. it’s just the guard dog in him. he’s as possessive as they get.
so he supports himself above you with the help of one arm so that he can look at you, and you don’t miss the way the muscle flexes with the action as his fingers dig into the pillow. don’t miss the way your big brother’s pretty brown eyes are so full of longing for you that it makes his pupils grow triple the size.
he’s looking at you like youre his dream girl, not his sister. it’s the reason why he says,
“i can fuck you better too, if you’ll let me… c’mooon, don’t pretend like you don’t wanna sit on your big brother’s cock. it’ll be so much fun, i promise.”

Makeup Sex HCs
-> dabi/t. todoroki, s. todoroki, e. kirishima & k. bakugo
Tumblr media
Dabi | Shouto Todoroki | Eijiro Kirishima | Katsuki Bakugo x [GEN]Reader
Tumblr media
CONTENT WARNING(S): sexual content, makeup sex. 🧍🏽‍♀️
COUNT: 1.1K words [1-3 mins each].
READ MORE: masterpost + [students | bakugo | adults masterlists]
A/N: ive been wanting to write this for a hot min and now i finally did sjdjsjdn anyways this will be my last nsfw work for students. pretty anti-climatic but 🤷🏽‍♀️ i will be releasing the rest of my sfw stuff for them somewhere else so stayed tuned for that. 👀 ANYWAYS I AM SAUR READY FOR THE DABI CONTENT IM GONNA BUST 🥰 THANK YOU ANON AND HAPPY YEAR YALL. 🤢🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Tumblr media
if its serious & Dabi knows hes fucked up, hes gonna force himself to talk about it.
don't think that he’ll be mature 100% but he will communicate with you.
is a little manipulative (don't come at me we know he ain't at therapy) and might divulge to get into your good graces once again.
makeup sex with Dabi entirely depends on how serious he finds the situation.
if it's something super serious (to him) then he will not go for sex and will not want to be touched physically like at all. comfort wise too.
but when it's something where all you two need to do is properly communicate, he's actually more empathetic. you could almost say the makeup sex between you when this happens is more… intimate.
if submissive!Dabi is something you like, here he is!
don't expect him to go full on tho, he’ll just relinquish a bit more of letting you take control as a form of apologizing.
[+] only you have been able to see him in such a position… you better be thrilled.
gets more needy tho? the audacity… if you love brats there here he is.
tries to say stuff to throw you off, shit like if you're teasing him he'll say something along the lines of, “stop playing and come sit on my cock, doll.” or “look at you slobbering all over my dick, you greedy XYZ.”
a little whiney about it too, has no shame whatsoever, though.
if he's the one giving you head, it's very messy and sloppy like he's making out with your nether regions. his goal is to have you c(um)e undone and having you surrender your thoughts to him.
when you two actually get to fucking though, it's really rough and grabby at first. it's as if you two are trying to fight each other whilst also attempting to one up another in pleasure.
very much a lot of rough thrusting, pinning, bite marks, hickies and hand prints galore.
then it soothes out—once all the pent up energy is exerted you two transition into a more, and this is where I talked about earlier, intimate love making.
mumbling apologies, a teary eye if you manage to make eye contact with each other and soft mutterings of how good it feels.
it's like a rollercoaster ride of high and low emotions, the end result being the balance of both.
Tumblr media
probably the same kind of style as Dabi.
honestly it wouldn't be surprising if the root of the makeup sex being unresolved things, as in the inner conflicts that you two don't even address.
quiet aggression waiting for its release between you two.
makeup sex would be more like a week or a few days after, where you two are probably having a normal session but then the pent up and forgetting energy comes up and gets released during the deed.
Todoroki grips you way more often and holds you close as if you might disappear in one second.
uses a lot of his hands and probably toys too to let out his pent out anger.
will have you bonded up so he can freely do what he needs to do with having to keep his attention divided by keeping you down and pleasuring you.
a ton of words of affirmation here, both you and him.
that's how it normally is, but he throws in some endearing terms a lot more this time around.
“that feel good, baby?” “who makes you feel good like this?”
his attention is solely focused on you and not so much his.
will probably edge you until the point where you both need to climax as he enjoys seeing you tear up and beg for him.
the makeup sex was probably about jealousy if we're being honest here.
Todoroki is just so emotionally constipated but he doesn't know how else express it.
is definitely working on it though.
Tumblr media
probably the most emotional out of them lol.
Kirishima is the type to cry and be a mess, super emotional and empathetic.
isn't doing crazy positions or trying to rough you up, unintentional or not.
very much, “I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry” sort of attitude 😭
feel like when thinking of Kirishima, since he has this hidden, passive aggressive side that it'd transmute into rough handling but no I think he'd let all his barriers down for something like this.
would probably get rougher near the ending tho, like harder thrusts and more bite marks.
he wants to be in your good books again and is doing his best to be that again.
everything is sloppier too, just pure rawness tbh.
the makeup session may take place a few hours later or a day later, if it doesn't then that's how you know it's something serious that can't just be mended with a bit of physical bonding.
so in a way when you two make up like this, Kirishima feels grateful because of the unspoken common rules in your relationship.
he puts his all in to make sure that even with your disagreements he still loves you a lot. :’)
Tumblr media
surprisingly so, i honestly believe makeup sex with this man would be soft.
it's passive aggressive at most, the only thing being harsh is the rough grip here and there or a little taunting whisper every so often.
lots of eye contact and just admiring you under him.
likes to be on top so he can shield you from everything else in the room and wants your attention all on him.
make up sex with him is smothering in the way that it's like he's trying to mold himself into you and only you.
doesn't care about what you guys fought about or disagreed earlier, he's more or so focused on the connection this will bring.
Bakugo is more quiet during this time, not really saying much but lets a few noises slip by every so often.
if he does talk, it's not very loud or aggressive, more of check ins like, “you okay?” “you like it when I XYZ?”
it's like Bakugo is treating you in a fragile manner, not wanting to shatter you or startle you. :’)
this is one of the times where his energy level isn't on 1000.
ALSO HAND HOLDING FOR SURE.
prefers to mostly do positions where he can see your face too, wants to make sure you're okay.
he's very mellow and the sort of energy is needed for the mending between you two.

hihi so i saw your bio and i have to say that i’m also currently obsessed w aventurine 🙈 can i ask smth abt him, one with the good ole jealousy trope + IPC reader, in which he ends up realizing his feelings that way.
Maybe it can be when the both of them were in penacony and reader gets close with the Express, or maybe one with the reader fawning over robin nd sunday🤭 maybe even people in general showing a bit too much interest in reader. However, any scenario you’ll think works best is completely fine, im happy with anything🩷 !! lots of love:)
hello my dear !! we are all obsessed with him, it seems :3 also of course !! I added a bit of everything you mentioned in the mix just for funsies :3 <3 I hope that you will enjoy it :) lots & lots of love for you, my dear !!! <3
this is a bit long...I hope you don't mind 😅 also, I kinda imagine Aventurine to shut down when he is jealous, especially if it's before a relationship. Either way, I hope this will satisfy you :)
Tumblr media
oblivious idiots in love who can't communicate, reader is kind <3 but a bit impatient and spiteful at a few moments, fan behavior towards robin from march and the reader, jealous aventurine, snappy aventurine, gender neutral reader, no usage of y/n, fluff ! :) perhaps a pinch of angst..?, but mostly lighthearted :3
dividers by @/saradika-graphics :)
Tumblr media
Being Aventurine's subordinate had its bad sides and good sides. Bad sides were his irresponsibility at times that left you overworked, but paid quite well. However, one of the benefits was an already paid trip to the Penacony!
You were very excited given that Penacony was a Dreamland filled with amazing ways to have fun and enjoy yourself.
"I haven't seen you this happy in a while." Aventurine notes in a soft tone as you run up to him, dragging your, beyond huge, suitcase behind you.
"Of course I am happy! I finally get to have a paid vacation, it's been years!" you emphasize as Aventurine takes your suitcase, neatly packing in the back of a trunk of a rather fancy car he ordered.
"Thank you for indirectly telling me that I am a horrible boss." he chuckles as he closes the trunk, slightly readjusting his sleeves afterwards.
"You became my boss only a couple of months ago, so I am not calling you horrible. If anything, you are my favorite!" you say happily as you check if you packed everything in your bag.
Aventurine's gaze softens, there was something odd, yet warm around his heart anytime you'd make a comment like that.
"But I am mostly excited to personally witness Robin's concert! It's going to be incredible, I already got the tickets. She is sososo pretty, it's going to be amazing!" you speak in a happy tone as you show him the two tickets, a smile spreading across your face.
Something stings.
"Ah..well.., we are still going there to work, don't forget that. Job comes first, entertainment second." he states in a firmer tone, slightly crossing his arms.
"Am I hearing that right? Aventurine wants to take the job seriously? We will see how much of that attitude you keep once we hit the casinos." you chuckle as you close up your bag.
Aventurine scoffs, a soft smile appearing on his face as he opens the car door for you, gesturing you to go inside. You nod in silent gratitude as you move a bit so he can enter.
The car ride is more fun than you anticipated. You keep showing Aventurine all the locations you want to visit, all the cool attractions and read the reviews of the hotel. Aventurine seems to be in good spirits as well, listening to you intently and enjoying the ride himself.
Couple of hours pass and you finally arrive at Penacony. It's even bigger and more luxurious than you thought! Good thing that Aventurine is paying for this.
You enter the hotel lobby, your expression adored in pure awe as you enjoy the beautiful details and huge space. There is some commotion at the reception which catches your attention. It catches Aventurine's attention as well it seems from the serious look he gives you. Both of you walk towards the reception, seeing a couple of people having a discussion with the lobby staff.
"So, because we couldn't arrange it months prior due to her not being on the Express, now she can't come with us?" a red-haired woman speaks, evidently annoyed. However, you notice softness, silkiness in her tone regardless.
"That's what it seems to have happened. We apologize for not notifying you in advance." a polite lady bows down, remaining still for a few moments.
"Now what?!" a pink-haired girl asks in a semi-pitchy tone, her disappointment making your heart soft. You hesitate whether to join the conversation or not, but you think about what if this happened with Aventurine and you. You would want someone to step in, so you try to subside your worries.
"Excuse me.." you say softly, making your way closer to the group. Aventurine gives you an odd look, following right behind you.
"Is sharing rooms not possible here?" you question in a gentle tone, trying not to cause more commotion.
"Not exactly. All of their rooms are for one person only, but it would also be rather troublesome trying to enter the Dreamscape from one bath." the polite staff replies, straightening herself as she looks at you.
You give Aventurine a worried look before you speak up again.
"Can she use my room by any chance?"
"That's kind, however what are you going to do then?" an older gentleman asks you with slight worry in his tone.
"My room is big enough for the two of us, so perhaps we can schedule it when it comes to entering the Dreamscape." you shrug, gazing at Aventurine. He sighs, slowly moving in front of you.
"That won't be necessary. You can be in my room, I just won't enter the Dreamscape. Not that I need it anyway." Aventurine shrugs, a slight boredom in his tone.
"Two people sharing a room that is meant for one is strictly-"
"Please." Aventurine deadpans, slowly urging the staff to move to the side with him. You can't hear their conversation, but it's not that it matters at the moment.
"I am March by the way! This is Himeko and this is Mr Welt Yang!" a pink-haired girl happily approaches you, extending her arm for a handshake. You take her hand, smiling softly.
"And this is Stelle, the one you wanted to give your room to. We are from the Astral Express!"
Stelle nods, smiling at you and you nod back. You introduce yourself, slightly bowing while doing so.
"The Nameless? To think I'd run into you here. By the way, I am from the IPC and that's my boss, Aventurine. He is a bit much at the times, but he means well." you chuckle as you point at Aventurine, receiving soft smiles from your new friends.
"It's settled, you will be sharing the room with me while she gets your room." Aventurine states as he comes back, earning a big hug of yours.
"Thank you so much!" you say in an upbeat tone before slowly pulling away from him.
Odd feeling again rushes through Aventurine's body.
"Ah, you are not the one who needs to express gratitude." he says in a semi-playful tone as he gazes at the Trailblazers.
"Thank you very much. We would like to express our gratitude by inviting you to go out with us!" March says enthusiastically and you nod.
"That would be lovely, right Aventurine?" you give him a soft expression and he sighs before he nods as well.
"I suppose we could. It's not every day that you get to indulge with the Nameless." he says in a lighthearted tone and you give him a sweet smile.
"It's settled then!"
Unfortunately, Himeko and Welt had some other plans, so only March, Stelle, Aventurine and you were able to go and explore the city.
"Also, are you two a couple?" March tilts her head, earning an elbow hit from Stelle. She yelps loudly without a shame which makes you chuckle.
"No, we aren't." you shake your head.
Truthfully, you would never even try to pursue Aventurine given the differences in your positions. Plus, it's not like he had feelings for you or anything, but it was all a nice dream.
"Oh, makes sense." March nods as she thinks about it for a moment.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Aventurine interrupts, his tone holding an offended note to it.
"Oh, no! I mean, it makes sense that the two of you weren't sharing a room already. You know?" she asks shyly, nervousness washing over her.
"Ah, I thought you were implying something else." Aventurine relaxes, nodding slowly.
"See? It seems that you aren't way out of my league!" you laugh as you give him a small wink.
Weird feeling.
Your walk continues and you mostly indulge in a conversation with Stelle. She is a sweet girl, a bit weird, but overall nice. She keeps talking about her missions as a nameless, while also giving you compliments from time to time.
"She is usually the silent one..what happened to your stoic behavior Stelle?" March teases her, giving her a playful smile.
Stelle's cheeks get a rose shade as her eyes widen at March.
"And you are usually the super talkative one! What...or rather who made you so shy?" she quickly teases back, earning a laugh from you while March lets out noises of nervousness...at least you think that's what it is. Aventurine was fairly silent the whole time, but now he finally speaks up.
"As much as this is fun, we need to head back. We have some business and meetings to attend to." he gestures to you to come closer to him and you do.
"Oh, okay. I will see you later?" you ask, softness in your tone. March opens her mouth to say something, but suddenly an excited scream escapes her throat as she looks somewhere behind you.
"Is that Robin?! The star Robin?!"
"Where?!" you exclaim loudly as you turn your head, quickly noticing her. You panic as March quickly comes up to you, holding your hands and squeezing them tightly.
"Are you also a fan of hers?!" she asks with an evident excitement and you nod, giving her equal excitement back.
"Oh aeons! Should we go and say hello?!" March almost jumps from excitement, her grip on your hands tightening.
Aventurine and Stelle just stare at the two of you with disinterested gazes, even awkwardly.
"I don't know! Wouldn't that be creepy? Plus, she seems busy!" you say a bit more loud than you anticipated, only to hear a silky tone behind your back.
"Never busy enough for my dear fans!" Robin chuckles softly as she puts her hand on your shoulder.
"Oh, especially not if they are this attractive." she gives you a soft smile, her eyes glistening with genuine glow.
"She is touching you..!" March whispers in a panicky manner and you freeze.
"Can we.., uh.., take a picture with you?" you ask nervously and she nods, gently caressing your back. You quickly, yet clumsily take out your phone and the three of you pose for the picture. You take a couple, your hand a bit shaky from excitement.
"What is a grand star like you doing here alone anyways?" Aventurine asks in a firm tone as he crosses his arms and the three of you turn around. You give him a serious look, urging him to be polite.
"Oh, I am not alone. I am waiting for my brother, we have some special guests to welcome." she replies kindly which makes your heart calmer.
"I am so sorry for his behavior, miss Robin." you bow down a bit, your tone genuinely apologetic.
"Don't mention it! It's nothing. Oh-!" her voice switches from soft to a surprised one as a man, who seems to be her brother, approaches the crowd you made.
"I told you not to go too far, people are starting to notice you." he sighs, putting a hand on his hip.
"It's okay! If I hadn't, I wouldn't have met my biggest fans. Aren't they cute, Sunday?" she giggles as she wraps her arms around his arm, smiling at March and you afterwards.
"A sight for sore eyes, indeed. Excuse my behavior, but there are a lot of fans who are...overbearing at times. I have to keep my little sister safe, I hope you can forgive me." he talks calmly and you can't help but enjoy his elegance.
"It's perfectly okay, we understand!" March exclaims happily and you nod.
"It's not a problem." you confirm, eyes fixated on the two of them. Both are so damn beautiful.
"Oh? You arrived too, Aventurine." Sunday notes in a calm tone.
"I have, but unfortunately I have to cut this meeting short as we have business to attend to." he emphasizes in a slightly annoyed tone, gazing at you firmly as he grips your biceps.
Your expression turns into a panicky one for a moment as you let go of March, making your way next to Aventurine rather quickly.
"I hope that I will see you around soon." Sunday smiles warmly at you and you smile back, while Aventurine keeps poker face, not really expressing anything anymore.
"Me too! Make sure to come to my concert, cuties! You will get VIP seats." Robin blows you and March a kiss, giving a soft wink. You swallow, slightly nervous from Robin's rather intense presence.
"I already have the tickets." you reply shyly, taking the tickets out of your bag.
"So, I will see you there." Robin smiles, her tone relaxing you.
"So do I! Uh..uh.., where did I put them..?" March trails off as she clumsily searches her clothes.
"Stelle, did you take them? Because if you did, I swear-!"
"No, I didn't. Maybe you left them in the room?" she tilts her head, more calm than you would've been.
"No, I kept it in this pocket! Oh no..-, I lost my ticket." March sighs, her tone pitiful.
"I mean, that's what you get for keeping it in such a tiny pocket." Stelle shrugs, not giving her friend much empathy.
"You are so mean!"
Aventurine grows impatient, lightly tapping his foot on the ground. You want to leave, but you hear your name being called.
"You have two tickets, right?" Sunday asks, slightly pointing at you.
"Uh...I do, but.."
The other one was for Aventurine. He didn't know that, it was supposed to be a surprise.
March gives you a pleading expression and you crumble on the spot, taking your ticket out of your bag. You give it to her and she jumps from excitement, hugging you tightly.
"You are the best! Thank you!" she exclaims in your ear and you notice Robin and Sunday smiling softly.
"Sure.., but we really have to go now. I will see you guys later." you slowly lean away from March, waving at all of them as Aventurine and you finally go your own way.
The walk is silent. Awfully silent. You walk behind Aventurine, hesitant to say anything. There is a lingering nervousness inside your tummy, even though you didn't do anything wrong. He didn't know the ticket was for him anyways. As your mind overflows in worries, Aventurine's voice brings you to reality.
"You wanted to give them a room, now you gave them your ticket, what's next?" he finally asks, not turning to look at you.
He doesn't understand his behavior or the reason behind his annoyance. You were always kind and helpful which is why he enjoyed your presence. He can't pinpoint the cause of this stinging feeling in his stomach. It's not like the two of you are a couple or something.
"Nothing "is next". I tried to help them." you reply in a defensive tone, but still feeling guilty for no apparent reason.
It's not like the two of you are a couple or something.
"Whatever you say. We will have a meeting with Sunday this evening, try not to drool as hard as you did just now." he continues in a cold tone, still not looking at you. If anything, he walks faster and you try to keep up.
"I wasn't drooling! Plus, aren't you the one who mentioned that he is "the most handsome man on Penacony"? you imitate his tone from months ago. That was when he announced the trip to you and was walking you through the people you'll be meeting.
"I never said I didn't, but I wasn't the one who was unprofessionally drooling all over him and his sister." he shrugs as he keeps walking quickly, making it a bit harder for you to keep up.
"Well, excuse me for acting accordingly upon seeing the most beautiful man and woman I have ever seen!" you state loudly, for some reason your heart drops to your stomach. You felt as if you wanted to hurt Aventurine, to spite him due to your own feelings.
Ouch. Something in Aventurine snaps for a moment.
He quickly stops, turning to face you.
"And excuse me for not being a better wingman. Tonight I will go to the casino by myself and you can have some alone time with the most beautiful man you have ever seen." he states in a borderline angry tone, his expression difficult to read regardless.
"Of course if that's enough for you since the most beautiful woman you've seen will be busy, unfortunately." he continues in a petty tone before he turns to continue walking.
"What is your problem?!" you ask loudly, but he remains silent, still walking further away from you. You run up to him in order to catch up, however still not receiving a response. You continue walking alongside him, silently and with a very low mood for the rest of the day.
Business meetings go semi-okay as the two of you are unable to really communicate properly. There is a lot of tension which leads to unnecessary bickering, but somehow you finish up everything in a beneficial way for the IPC.
Aventurine is still cold, awfully distant which makes you even more nervous as you make your way to the last meeting. The Sunday meeting.
He welcomes you in an elegant manner, but you can't shake off the jittery feeling out of your body. It's hard to concentrate, especially because Aventurine keeps up the passive-aggression towards the both of you. Sunday focuses more on talking to you and you welcome it kindly, earning dirty looks from Aventurine.
Sunday is quite a pleasant man, but he could never be Aventurine.
As the meeting reaches its end, you excuse yourself to go to the bathroom, too much tension finally getting to you. You try to calm yourself down, not really understanding what's a big deal anymore. You were supposed to come here and have fun, but now you feel like everything you do is utterly wrong and judged by Aventurine. For no apparent reason at all.
The only thing that comes to mind is that, perhaps, he realized the other ticket was for him, so he got mad when you gave it to March. It would be too late and too impolite to ask for it back, so you just swallow the guilt, making a new choice. You go back to the two men waiting for you to wrap up the meeting, still feeling a bit nervous.
"I will be taking my leave now." Aventurine slightly nods, crossing his arms for a moment before he walks away, not saying anything further. You want to reach for him, but Sunday's voice takes your attention away.
"Your boss told me that you admire me quite a lot which makes me quite flattered." he bows down, soft smile on his face.
"Now, that the business is over, would you be interested in having dinner with me, by any chance?" he asks in a silky tone, extending his arm to you.
That idiot.
You think about it for a moment, biting down on your bottom lip as you watch Aventurine leave. He turns around for a moment, giving you a gaze that you couldn't quite read before he exits the room.
"Thank you, Mr Sunday, I truly appreciate the offer.., but I have some other things to finish." you bow down in an apologetic manner.
"That's quite alright. If anything, I expected that." he nods with a soft smile on his face. You give him a puzzled expression and he just points at the direction where Aventurine took his leave. You widen your eyes at him, soft warmth spreading inside your tummy.
"I shall excuse myself then." you bow down again and Sunday nods, watching you leave the room. You are aware that Aventurine went to a casino, but you decide to go to your shared room. He should blow off some steam and you could use some alone time too. You finally reach the room, swiftly dropping on the sofa. A loud sigh escapes your lung as you quickly take out the ticket out of your purse, gazing over it for a moment.
If that's really the issue, screw the concert.
You think to yourself as you rip the ticket apart, leaving its pieces on the table in front of you. Now, all you have to do is wait to confront Aventurine. However, your nerves won't remain still as you keep checking your phone for any message of his.
To your misfortune, none arrive. You try to indulge yourself in reading and catching up to some IPC workers, specifically Topaz, in hopes for the time to fly faster.
Hours pass and you find yourself getting tired.
Perhaps he won't even sleep here tonight.
You slowly lean your head back in the chair, letting your eyes close for a few moments as the tiredness washes over you. You have no idea when, but you doze off, having some sweet dream.
The door opens rather abruptly which makes you jump out of the chair. You see Aventurine who gives you a puzzled expression.
"Already back from your date?" he asks in a semi-petty tone, closing the door behind him.
"I didn't go." you say sleepily, slowly straightening yourself in the chair.
"Oh? Why? Did Robin catch your eye more? I can get that done for you as-"
"Aventurine." you cut him off coldly as you stand up to face him. He gazes to the table, noticing the pieces of the ticket.
"Hm?"
"I don't know what your exact issue is, but I am sorry." you say softly, barely looking at him.
"You're sorry? What for?" he almost chuckles as he stands in front of you.
"I don't know!" you exclaim in slight annoyance, mind racing with thoughts.
"Did I irritate you that much that you had to rip off the ticket?" he tilts his head, gazing at the pieces.
"No.., that…" you trail off, sighing.
"I ripped it off because I thought you were mad that I gave March your ticket!" you admit, your confusion about the whole situation and even your own logic growing more expressive and loud.
"My ticket?" he tilts his head again, evidently confused as well now.
"Well yeah. I got two tickets for the two of us. It was supposed to be a surprise, but I thought you figured it out when I showed it to you this morning." you shrug, slightly playing with your fingers to calm down your nerves.
"I didn't. I thought you got two in case you lost one." he replies in a regular tone.
You remain silent.
"So, you thought that ripping the ticket would do...what exactly?" he finally speaks, tone a bit softer as he realizes.
"Make you not be mad at me for whatever reason!" you finally look at him, eyes filled with distress and tiredness.
Aventurine's expression softens as he slowly comes closer to you. He cups your cheek, making your body freeze, yet grow insanely hot within seconds. He rubs gentle circles in your cheek using his thumb, eyes lovingly observing your features.
"You are an idiot." he states bluntly, earning an offended gaze from you.
"I am an idiot." he corrects, chuckling a bit at your reaction.
"I wasn't mad at you, I was selfish." he sighs, swallowing his pride.
"Huh?" you tilt your head, slightly leaning more into his touch.
"I was selfish because...I have feelings..-"
"We all have feelings, Aventurine. Spit it out already!" you exclaim as your nerves get better of you. He pauses for a moment, face a bit more serious.
"For you, in particular." he says slowly, letting his words linger between the two of you for a few moments. An intense warmth spreads through your body, your brain still not connecting all the dots.
"So, I was being selfish by expecting from you to only have eyes for me today and despised the fact that other people were getting your attention..and compliments." he finishes up, slowly leaning away from you.
"I will get you a new ticket for the concert-"
A sudden warmth rushes through you, as this you wished for this moment for quite some time; your hands cupping his cheeks as you press your lips onto his.
He doesn't miss a beat, arms wrapping around your waist as he pulls you closer to him; his tongue finding yours as the kiss grows more needy and passionate. You slide your arms to his neck, tightly wrapping them as you suck his bottom lip between your lips, letting your tongue slide over it. He does the same to your upper lip, his arms tightening around you. The kiss becomes more desperate, soft whimpers escaping both of your throats and getting muffled by the kiss. Aventurine pulls away, slightly breathless.
"I am sorry for being an idiot.., but I just want you all for myself. If I realized sooner, you'd be mine a long time ago and none of this would've happened." he says with a pinch of desperation in his tone, slowly pulling you even closer.
"Don't worry, we all get jealous sometimes." you tease, soft chuckle following as you give him a soft kiss.
"I wasn't exactly jealous-" he tries to explain himself, but you shush him with another long, passionate kiss. Your body fills up with warmth as Aventurine deepens the kiss, his neediness breaking through each second. He pulls away for just a moment, breathing heavily as he speaks.
"Do you still think Sunday is the most handsome man on Penacony?" he asks breathlessly before he continues kissing you. You chuckle before you pull away for a moment, whispering softly.
"Let's not talk about that." you say playfully, pulling him closer to you.
