I'm finally back and I've been on about my Borderlands self insert oc a lot recently so im here to yap. This post might be a little long so i bolded some things for tl;dr. There's a lot of cringe here but oh well.

This is Ruben! A one-eyed 18 year old vault hunter intended for a debut on the Borderlands 2 timeline, who has a weird fascination with scary carnivorous plants. I thought maybe he should be like a counterpart to Gaige in a way, since they have a lot of similarities and all.

Personality wise; he's super annoying and chaotic, hyperactive, and surprisingly optimistic; yet destructive and violent with sour attitude.

^ He's happy yet angry, unstable but playful, and prefers to ignore his internal emotional struggles and instead convert it into spontaneous chaos- which he finds fun, while a lot of others just see him as an obnoxious bratty kid or batshit insane.

I made this doodle too that I really like for some reason. Aside from the ugly looking hand.

Trying not to squeeze too many small details into this one post, but I added a bunch of random silly facts about Ruben below the cut for anyone who wants to know more! :

• He has a massive sweet tooth, like his reference says. He always has a lollipop or bubbblegum in his mouth. Sugar is literally an addiction for him and he can't go without being cracked up on candy. He just likes junk food, all in all. (It's shocking that he hasn't collapsed because of nutrient deficiency from only eating snacks and sweets.)

^ His favorite lollipop flavors are blue raspberry and pomegranate while his favorite bubblegum flavors are the original and cotton candy.

•His height without and weight without his boots are around 157 cm (5'2) and 90 lbs; he's very underweight.

• He has a flytrap mutant sidekick named Medusa, who likes to swallow baddies whole and make big gutty messes in combat. I like to think some of his skills would include stuff like upgrading her to give off toxic spores or create spiked thorns on the ground in a certain range during combat.

• He has a soft spot for Pandora's wildlife- unfortunately less so after the incident with his eye.

•His small frame can be deceiving. He's stronger than he looks and will mess up anyone who underestimates him.

•He's extremely clumsy and always getting himself hurt regardless of being in combat or not. He's gotten used to it by now, but still, it's a miracle he hasn't killed himself by falling off a cliff or something.

• In combat he can unpredictably go animalistic, like running on all fours or biting on his weapons or even enemies. More specifically he has a lot of catlike habits.

• Probably a masochist, and enjoys taking pain if anything.

• Uses a lot of plant related metaphors, for example he likes using the word "Weedkiller" as an insult.

•During moments of extreme excitement or anger, his robotic eye sometimes sends a small zap through his head. That's probably one of the reasons his hair is always so messy and spiked up.

•He has a habit of chewing and gnawing on random inedible things.

•Loves to tease/annoy the others for fun. I imagine he'd also carry a bunch of obnoxious gadgets on him too- silly string being a favorite of his.

• Sleeps with the teddy bear shown in the doodle, but will die with that information.

I've been randomly doodling him but maybe sometime I'll make a BL3 design.

I honestly think that having read the books adds so much to my interpretation. like Percy "my mom never even raised her voice" "between me and Gabe, her life wasn't easy" "I know I want exactly an easy kid"Jackson Is down not only unconditional protection and caring, but patience, grace, and forgiveness. OF COURSE he goes straight from "I don't have anything to say to him" to "I know Grover would never betray me" that fast! TBH if I didn't know those lines from the book, the attitude switch up would confuse me so fuckin much because after the whole lying sitch, Grover literally avoided him for days! but he is IMPORTANT to Percy!

Of course, it makes sense in the show, too, if you pay really close atention. Percy knew that someone, supposedly someone on his quest, would hit him where it hurts at an important moment, and when Grover refused to keep lying to cover Mr.D's ass, Percy realized exactly who he needed in his corner.

I think both are true, but one is less elaborated on imo

LITERALLY YOU SAID IT ALL im loving being able to read so many layers into this show because i read the books and i think they are hitting it out of the park in terms of all the audiences they are trying to reach

borrowing seaweed brain podcasts phrase theyre trying to read younger and older, and new fans and old fans, and i feel like they are keeping it pg and understandable to young fans like you still get the unease that percy feels around gabe and the trust he has with grover (thus the heartbreak when grover betrays him until he finds out it was for his own good and he didnt want to) and the whole medusa scene is super readable i feel like for younger audiences while SIMULTANEOUSLY older audiences can read into all those scenes and see the insidious deeper reaching nature of gabe's abuse and the sexual assault implications of medusas story and its super cool!!

plus new fans are getting introduced in a fairly good way i feel like because the show creators are adding a lot of details and the actors are portraying all the emotions PERFECTLY so you get the FEELINg of certain characterizations or scenes even if they dont have time to explicitly tell you, plus old fans get to read the HELL between the lines like personally ive analyzed all of leahs expressions and you can TELL she knows annabeth's story, meanwhile new fans are experiencing annabeth as og book fans did when we first started reading!

So back to listening to my Percabeth playlist that's full of yearning and it's just a bunch of songs that fits so well to their arcs in the books or just the characters and more songs about yearning. Let me just say, I think I cooked with adding "Rewrite the Stars" in this playlist. And with that song playing reminds me a bit of Titan's curse where Athena talked to Percy for a while and from what I remember she sorts of looks down on him and said something about how he's a son of Poseidon and their beef and how she dislikes his friendship with Annabeth (ALSO FIRST OF ALL, YOU DON'T GET TO BE THE MOM YOU'VE NEVER BEEN IM SORRY) and now that made me think tangentially of what they're gonna do with that in the show. I think that will be very interesting to watch, how Athena is gonna be depicted. I mean so far we've only known her from what she did with Annabeth, sort of like this very authoritative, never present mother and that's partly because she's embarrassed because she is also a dutiful daughter of Zeus.

So I do want to see more of that for her, not because her decisions are influenced by Zeus but just her in general. I'm sure she's gonna hold her children to a standard, and that includes particularly Annabeth. So Athena having that conversation, would they lean more into that or would she be just this help to Percy more than she was in the books. But from what we're already seeing from her, maybe she could be the former.

And that will be very interesting for Percy. Because I'm sure by that time he's becoming aware of his feelings for Annabeth. Probably at that moment he was ready to tell her that but Athena talked him into just not doing it lmao, warning him of their relationship. And the lyrics for Rewrite the Stars fit so well.

And I do want to see something that sort of parallels Season 1 Ep3, their confrontation, when they started off on the different ends of the spectrum, not really seeing eye to eye when they first met and getting Medusa to really challenge them to confronting their relationship again, but this time on another level that could potentially be something more than just being friends and this time, no one in between them to put them against each other, just them facing it head on. And now I'm just picturing that moment, probably before they got their dance on Olympus, they could use the same words again from that episode. Percy could be hesitating to ask her for a dance the whole time. Annabeth could say something along with the lines of "we're not our parents until we choose to be". Eye contact then they dance. Wow. That's gonna be a moment.

Also love the fact that this train of thought was merely triggered by playing Rewrite the Stars lmaoo this is like a whole script or a fanfic

1. MASTEMA hes i think probably the best law alignment demon though chiaki's whole schtick is a very close contender

2. baal avatar is so iconic. so legendary. so gamechanging. mastema admittedly is only above her because of his 60 black silky inches and because i have the canon url but baal avatar's reveal, her boss fight, her death..... no kingdom can have two kings, demifiend!

3. mem aleph. they have to bring her back SOON because every time she's on screen in sjr she's showing us how it's done i'm talking full mayhem miller realness with that face and hair. literally karmically assigned MILF progenitor you will never be her.

4. mother harlot no one is giving what she's giving and I'll be adding her to #Bayonetta soon enough rest assured. her fight is scary if you forget that she has 2 hp. i think about her hardtype fight always.

5. shekinah. #girl. if i put on her song i'm in shambles every time and just the metaphysical implications of her existence in sjr makes me dizzy.

6. metatron. hey girl. always a baddie who's fun to see

7. skadi because you know we're spamming mabufudyne once we hit level 65 every game. love that she talks to you in game when she uses skills i know she's spitting fire

8. shiva and we have GOT to get him on the big screen again soon he didnt serve enough pussy in smtv but he DID serve it. will also be putting him in bayonetta soon.

9. matador bc hes the funniest intro boss other than, like, maybe medusa in IV but even then hes meaner imo

“Tell me again why you won’t use magic on these?” Apollo asked, sitting in a pile of rubble and cleaning off the cover of a book with a slightly wet rag. 

“Because it would ruin their authenticness,” Loki said as they swept some dust into a bin. 

“Then can you at least just get the rubble away? I think I have a stone splinter.” Apollo placed the now cleaned book on a pile of several others. 

“My magic is mostly illusion and healing, I can make you believe there isn’t anything in the way of the books, but you’ll quickly learn the truth and break the spell.” Loki tossed a large piece of rubble into a large bin that Tony had brought for them. 

Tony didn’t say it but Loki knew that Tony would prefer Loki to be working on their home rather than get into trouble. Thor had offered to help Loki clean and rebuild but every time Loki was going to one of the Greek Gods or Tony needed him for whatever they were doing and Loki would wave him off. Loki knew that Thor was needed more at the tower than they were, he was also a lot more liked by most of them there. Loki knew they weren’t wanted so they stayed out of the way. 

“Why does this book weigh more than me?” Apollo said with a little laugh, plopping an over-sized book in his lap. 

Apollo had been the only one who has come with Loki to help, Peter wanted to as well but he had school work to do first and was never done when Loki left. Loki did enjoy having Apollo here a bit, he was still annoying to a degree but it was nice to have someone here to talk to and they shared a lot in common due to being Gods. Loki was able to talk to Apollo about things the others wouldn’t understand besides Thor and Thor wasn’t around much.  

“It’s a collector’s item,” Loki said in response. They used their foot to move some dust and heard crunching. Loki bent down and pulled a broken frame from the rubble. The picture inside of it was one Peter had begged Loki to do. It was of Peter standing between Thor and Loki, arm up and taking a ‘selfie’. Peter had given Loki and Thor each a physical copy in some frames. Loki had kept their’s in their room so only he could see it while Thor’s was on display in his, what he called, house. 

“When I get my powers back, I’ll clean off of this with a breeze.” Apollo blew dust from one of the books and ended up coughing. 

“I’ll be sure to note to not allow you to do that.” Loki got the picture out of the frame and tucked it into their pocket, tossing the frame away and giving himself another note to buy a new frame for the picture. 

“I could also sweep you off your feet.” Apollo moved the book along as if it were flying, giving Loki a grin. 

“I wish you the best of luck with that.” Loki chuckled. Apollo’s flirting was still consistent, but Loki found themself playing along a bit. Apollo was fun, intelligent and while using flirtation for it, he was very kind. 

“So...how’s that whole sorting realms stuff going?” Apollo’s voice told Loki that he didn’t want them talking about a specific part of what he asked. 

“There’s no sign of how long it’s going to take or how far along we are,” Loki said. “Although the more pieces we put together with their own, the more stable the area we’re in feels.” 

“What about the dust stuff in the Cyclops’ eye?” Apollo saw the questioning look in Loki’s face. “I overheard Peter talking to Tony about it.” He added in explanation.

“It was the same from the realm that we can’t locate. We’re not sure where it’s from and if it’s part of the reason why you and the other Greeks are here.” Loki pushed more rubble around with their foot, no longer in the mood to work. “But we’re hoping that since we’re working with the pieces, it’ll prevent more crossovers from happening and it’s just you three here.” 

“What’s the chance another…” Apollo bit his own tongue when he saw something flying through the sky and landing a good-ways away from them. “I jinxed that, big time.” 

“Looks like they already saw it.” Loki gestured towards several more objects flying in the same path, assuming it was Tony and the others. 

“I’m going to head over there, want to join?” Apollo offered.

“Easier to be there than to be told.” Loki stepped towards Apollo and allowed him to wrap an arm around their waist and they wrapped their own around Apollo’s shoulders. Apollo stared off for a moment to see where to go and they took off. 

When they landed; Tony, Steve, Thor, Zeus, Stephen, and Peter were all already there. Loki didn’t notice the look Stephen gave Apollo, but Apollo did and smirked at him as Loki made their way to Peter. 

“Any ideas?” Loki asked.

“Nothing’s jumped out yet, so we’re thinking it might be another God,” Peter said, pointing to the large hole in the ground. 

“There hasn’t been any sound from them,” Steve said. “Do you think-”

“If it’s one of us, they’re fine. It’s probably just Iris being shy or something.” Zeus waved his hand as he spoke and went for the hole. 

“I’m assuming Hera stayed-”

“Ah, shit!” Zeus’ curse cut Loki off. “Guys, it’s Medusa, cover your eyes!” Zeus rushed back over to the group, hands over his face. 

“Did you look at her?” Apollo went up to Zeus. “Did she get you?” 

“I looked away in time, but I didn’t want to risk it more.” Zeus lowered his hands. 

“Medusa?” Peter had his suit cover his head and he went for the hole, seeing someone crawl out of it. Tony was going to protest but stopped when he saw Peter stick his hand out towards Medusa and the snake-haired woman just stared at him. “I’m Peter, it’s an honor to meet you.” 

“An honor?” Medusa scoffed with surprise. “No one’s ever ‘honored’ to see me.” 

“I am. I think you’re really cool!” Peter bounced a little. “You’re super strong and cool and just awesome.” 

“How old are you?” Medusa barely touched Peter’s hand and shook it slightly. 

“I turn sixteen in a few days,” Peter answered. 

“That’s why you’re not scared, you’re young and foolish.” Medusa crossed her arms. 

“Young yes, but I’m far from foolish.” Peter chuckled, glancing at Tony. “Oh! Wait right here!” Peter ran over to Tony, waving his arms. 

“Loki.” Loki introduced themselves to Medusa. Medusa looked at them and stiffened but blinked it away when she saw nothing happened to Loki. 

“How did...you must be like Dionysus.” Medusa nodded, agreeing with herself. 

“Yes, and I wanted to use this private moment to inform you that I know of your story and if you feel any of the fear come back because of a certain Greek we have, let me know and I’ll slit his throat before he even finishes the thought.” Loki spoke soft but harshly, letting Medusa know that they were dead serious. 

“Thank you, but I can handle myself.”

“Of course I’m just letting you know you have backup. The kid will fight for you too, trust me.” 

“Here!” Peter was now back to Medusa, holding a pair of sunglasses. “These should let you be able to look anywhere without worry.” 

“Sunglasses?” Loki asked as Medusa took the glasses and placed them on her head. 

“They’re Mr. Stark’s and his are a lot fancier than a normal pair,” Peter explained. 

“Welcome to the club.” Loki chuckled.

Friendly reminder Jiang Cheng was the one who lead the Siege that killed Wen Ning’s and Lan Sizhui’s family who were elderly, weak and starving. Wen Ning has all the rights to be “mean” to Jiang Cheng.

Also like… Jiang Cheng going into seclusion isn’t a bad thing. He needs to self reflect he’s been childish and disrespectful to so many people in the novel 🤷🏻‍♀️ he killed “demonic cultivators” for 13 years who could have possibly been innocent an only used Wei Wuxian’s name for protective.

So why is discussing things that happened in canon make me a “Jiang Cheng Anti” ? Like im genuinely curious on how that makes me an anti and i would love for someone to explain it

Like im sorry Jiang Cheng isnt this loving uncle that was conjured up in the fandom, an it seems like Fanon has a large toll on this fandom to the point some people forget Jiang Cheng was fully prepared to kill a child

But please someone explain how me an friends discussing the canon of jiang cheng makes us antis.

Medusa is not a feminist icon if you’re ignoring the whole mythos and demonizing Danaë and Perseus who were victims as well

- Perseus was a child and if you look at the actual context it directly points out he’s 15-20

- Ppl reclaim Medusa and then shit on Danaë and her trauma

- Perseus was forced to kill Medusa by a literal patriarch (the king) because the king wanted to r-pe Danaë and make her a slave

- the king did this to get rid of Perseus

- Medusa in pop culture becomes sexier and sexier but everyone ignores Danaë, the literal woman in the myth

- the enemy is the king not the kid. You’re not feminist for shitting Perseus

Also not really feminist if you’re making Medusa sexier an sexier despite her being a monster, and ignoring that she, Danae and Perseus were victims of an actual Patriarch ✌🏻reclaim all three of them or none of them.

The Last Olympian Thoughts

So because I have absolutely 0 self-control or restraint when it comes to this series and its characters, and for The Last Olympian in particular, I could not put TLO down. Because of this I figured I couldn’t do the usual photo reaction posts I have been so far, because the spam would just be ridiculous, so I am stealing the idea from @yourstrulytaaay​ to do a masterpost instead. (Adding a Read More cause this got ridiculously long)

Fun fact, TLO came out right after i finished reading the series for the first time so it's the first PJO book i bought  and my only hard cover one for the og series. I checked the year and turns out it was published 2009, which means i was actually 9 when i read the series for the first time. I realize this is not really a fun fact but i thought i was older when I first read the series so it's blowing my mind a little ‘cause now I’m 21 and everything hits different and i still have so much love for this series and the characters Okay onto book thoughts: - i was right that this book is gonna destroy me, the first line alone made me so excited and nostalgic it's ridiculous - I love Rachel and Percy sm tbh. Her being a bit of peace and normalcy in his life without always reminding Percy of who and what he is is so good for him. Just a little escape

- of course by the end of the book that's not the case any more but by the end he's lived his prophecy so he doesn't need it as badly, plus he and Annabeth are solid again - Percy saying Annabeth has been hard to be around lately... Ouch my heart. Luke really is the last thing that keeps them from being together and Percy is so jealous and Annabeth so torn and in pain, i feel so bad for them both

- Beckendorf 🥺🥺 - the telkhine with the Lil Demon lunchbox!! I forgot about him. Percy: 'i left him alive, partly because his lunchbox was cool' is one of my absolute favourite lines tbh - Paul taking Percy crabbing and being imperative in helping Percy kill the giant crab 💖 Paul Blofis is important and deserves the world, okay? - aw Percy, you can't save every demigod bb

- 'i had to fight him eventually. Why not now?... What difference would a week make?' Oh Percy you have no idea - real talk tho, the fact Kronos possessed Luke's body would also mess me tf up. Percy keeps forgetting it's not Luke anymore and yeah, that would be so so hard and confusing af, like what another smart little mind game for Kronos to pull on top of everything else - the fact Percy fights Kronos before getting the Achilles Curse and actually doesn't die within seconds is... Astounding. He kicks him in the chest! And yeah Kronos is weaker and still adjusting to Luke's body, but Percy is having trouble fighting Luke cause they used to be friends - Percy breaks Kronos' time magic!! Like?! Boy is POWERFUL.

- OUCH - honestly Luke, Thalia and Annabeth's family breaking the way it did... Don't talk to me. Poor Annabeth, Luke betrayed them, Thalia joined the Hunters because of Luke's betrayal so she's pretty much AWOL all the time and then Luke dies. Like Rick wtf, my heart can't take it? -Percy and Tyson having each others backs when talking to Poseidon in the underwater palace is the brother-brother relationship we love to see - Percy trying to stick a sand dollar in the vending machines at school 🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ - the whole underwater interaction at Poseidon's palace? Perfection. Awkward family drama and all - Connor falling out of the tree when he sees Percy because he's so excited 😂😂

- k, ik Clarisse isn't perfect but tbh if i was a child of Ares whose father was disrespected and hated by my fellow campers (ares deserves it but still) and that disrespect trickled down to how the other campers treated ME (which if Percy is reliable here, it obviously does) then i would also be irritated at being used for muscle and nothing else? And just expected to fight with the people who act as if they'd rather not have Ares kids around the rest of the time. Like Clarisse isn't totally wrong - Percy reading the prophecy, seeing he's meant to die and just being like 'i do not see it' and refusing to outright think about it makes me so sad for him - (but it taints every action after and he's super reckless afterwards bc of it- including finally breaking and accepting the Achilles Curse) - (also him taking this as the last straw and finally beginning to show Annabeth how he really feels, cause fuck it, he's dying anyway) - Give me more info about Rachel's backstory and family Rick!! -  how did i forget Percy willingly eats chocolates that taste like cardboard because 'i didnt have anything against cardboard' like sir? Ik Silena didn't want them but still? - 'she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful' STOP, MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT - Percy staring at Annabeth and forgetting what they're talking about cause hes so distracted 👌🏻

- hmm yeah... For some strange reason.... - i forgot how Percy totally bombs this convo bw them and now want to cry 😭 Annabeth is trying to talk about what's important and Percy, you sweet oblivious man, you're shooting her down without even realizing - love that they're both on the same wavelength tho. Percy two lines before, hmm it's cool to date ppl from other cabins, wonder why im thinking that around Annabeth, my best friend in the world, and then Annabeth a beat later, hmm, let me bring up Silena and Beckendorf and how it's important to be with the people you love when you have the chance, no way Percy will miss this huge hint right? - they're the best - k i honestly forgot Percy full on physically intimidates Leneus like that - luke telling his mom if he ran away the monsters wouldnt get her..i can just imagine luke crying when he says good bye before running away because he thinks it's his fault his mom is like that and he cant take care of and protect her anymore because it's too hard - uh oh now i have angsty pre-lightning thief luke fic inspo... Him, Thalia and Annabeth on the run... The ANGST -  Rick holds absolutely nothing back in this book and i am in pain - HESTIA!! 💖💖🥰 - actual loml - i love that Rick titled this book after her and that he wrote such a great series about the importance of family (biological, found or otherwise) and home, and that he said actually Hestia is the most important bc shes the most humble and keeps the peace and knows when to fight and when to yield and you protect what you love, which is your home - i just... Adore Hestia - Grover! Missed you babes - Hades is so so horrible to Nico, always comparing him to Bianca :/ - but i do love Hades, Persephone and Demeter together they make me laugh - oh god the River Styx - Achilles 🥺 - Annabeth being Percy's lifeline is, and continues to be, A Lot™ - 'my name was Percy Jackson. I reached up and took Annabeth's hand.' LOL Why am i crying? - Like the fact there is no Percy without Annabeth, and that remembering her literally reminded him of who he is in his very soul... It's fine im fine - i won't even get into the parallels of her being his lifeline now and then later when Hera takes his memories but leaves the memory of Annabeth for Percy to fight to get back to (anyone who wants to yell about it with me... Feel free to message) - badass Percy is my fav Percy tbh - him defeating Hades?? Like? - i love!! Percy's love for New York!! So much!! - Percy leaving to live in New Rome in HoO is a lie and this is all the proof i need for why - the fact the entire last half of the book is the battle and aftermath... Such great buildup and pacing. All the tricks and twists and battles in this War of Manhattan? I would not take out a thing, Rick, you legend - of course then the final battle in hoo with the gods is what? Two pages? Ugh, don’t talk to me about my hatred for BoO and HoO - 'no detours you two' is still the cutest thing!!! - THE HUNTERS!! Thalia i missed you - good job Percy, you finally spent your sand dollar - Minotaur!! - 'dont i get a kiss for luck? Its kind of a tradition right?' Percy finds out he's gonna die and is out of fucks to give and honestly I support him - also Michael just standing beside these two while they're flirting like umm 👀 👀 while a monster army marches towards them, nbd - Annabeth taking Ethan's knife meant for Percy!!! Cause she just knows his weak spot without him even telling her! They literally invented love - Feral Percy is so scary omg, i love how well Rick incorporates the Achilles Curse in this novel, with the whole heightened weaknesses and stuff ans the parallels to Achilles arrogance being what killed him and Percy's loyalty, fierceness and protective instinct being his own heightened weakness - the fact that Percy is the one who inadvertantly kills Michael Yew tho, I'll never recover from that - the fact Hades offers Maria di Angelo a golden palace by the Styx like how Poseidon offers Sally a palace under the sea tho. Let's talk about that parallel - the entire talk with Prometheus is so so good - not me picturing young Luke hiding in the closet to get away from his mom when she has an 'episode' -i love callbacks in stories and all of the callbacks to the rest of the series in this book make me very happy (medusa, minotaur, the underworld, Rainbow!! My baby!!, Daedalus and more) - Percy summoning a wholeass hurricane against Hyperion - the Party Ponies! They're so chaotic, i love it - Dionysus! 😁 I can't help it, i love him - Percy absolutely losing it when he sees Sally and Paul asleep in the car 🥺 - Rachel telling Percy he's not the hero screws with him so much :( poor bb - although i really really love how Rick wrote this, it's so refreshing to not have one chosen one save the world, but a combination of people - the drakon, Silena and Clarisse make me cry - the Patrochilles references, im not okay - Annabeth giving up on Luke after hearing what he did to Silena and Percy telling her that doesn't make him happy 😭 that whole interaction makes my heart ache - Percy giving Hestia Pandora's pithos 🥺 - and Hades, Nico and the others coming for a final attack is so badass, i love it - listen im glad the og trio were the ones to confront Luke on Olympus but the fact Thalia got so close and then pinned by a statue of HERA makes me so sad. Ik her and Luke were finished and she coped by cutting him off completely and giving up all hope but i would pay money to know what they would have said to each other to say goodbye - Ethan 🥺 - Poseidon joining the fight against Typhon is so cool, such a great scene - 'PEANUT BUTTER!' - Annabeth you brilliant badass you - RIP Luke, you werent great but you werent the worst either - the gods just rolling up seconds too late, wondering wtf happened in Olympus and who the dead body is - the chapter where the Olympians meet and give out rewards is one of my absolute favourites (again i am incensed we didn't get anything like this in HoO) - will Percy turning down immortality ever not make me scream in glee? No? Alright then - Annabeth being relieved like Percy was relieved at the end of Titan's Curse tho - oh Hermes :/ - its so hard reading all this and knowing what comes in HoO... Like it's such a cathartic, earned and mostly happy and peaceful ending and then HoO comes along and undermines it all - aww Rick let Paul see Olympus somehow pls, he deserves it, he killed a dracanae - (i would also love to see it) - Percy being more upset Rachel took his pegasus than her going to Camp and possibly dying, lol, priorities dude - i honestly think that Rick had other ideas for the second Great Prophecy and how things would go down in BoO, cause the prophecy like... Barely applies to BoO, Doors of Death are in book four, and explabations of it is all so unclear when Rick is usually pretty good with that stuff - PERCABETH - lol Percy complaining about privacy when he and Annabeth are caught kissing literally in the middle of the very open and public dining pavilion, okay - BEST UNDERWATER KISS OF ALL TIME - that's it and im a glass case of emotion - very happy to say that this series remains my favourite of all time 💖

“...Bystanders have not been hurt, although Paris’ superheroes have not made an appearance yet…”

There was unrest among the students of Francoise Dupont High School as Adrien listened to his friends talk quietly amongst one another. Thunder rumbled in the distance as heavy, chilling rain poured down from the skies. There was a gloomy eeriness that clung to the air, a quiet that made the high schoolers feel like they were just waiting for something to shatter the silence. Grey clouds were collecting, casting the city in shadow-like darkness. 

Another Akuma attack had been reported yet again. The Parisian superheroes were more than glad to help out, but it was obvious they were tiring: their moves became sloppier, their conversations shorter, and their patience thinner. 

Adrien listened to the chatter exchanged between Alya and Nino, while Marinette remained quiet. She looked tired, which really wasn’t that uncommon, but her fatigue seemed to spill into all of her activities. She had less “pep in her step,” as Alya had said, and her eyes weren’t nearly as bright as they used to be. Not that he meant to pay attention to such things, of course, but it was hard to not notice. Even Chloe, who couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anyone but herself, had laid off on the harassment. Adrien chalked up his attentiveness to Marinette as nothing more than being a good, concerned friend, but as of late that excuse was becoming harder to sell, even to himself.

It started about four months ago when they came back from summer break. Everyone had gone back to school and while Adrien was physically there, he was mentally absent. Kagami had just gone abroad for school again after they’d broken things off. He would have liked to say it was a mutual breakup, but she was the one who brought it up. Kagami was wise beyond her years so when she told him that his heart wasn’t in the relationship, he knew she was right. He expected his first heartbreak to be gut-wrenching, but it wasn’t. He felt sad, sure, but not in the way that leaves you paralyzed in bed for weeks on end. At the time, he wondered why that was, but the answer was obvious: Marinette. 

When he got to school, it was almost as if she could see the gloomy cloud over his head. She was there for him when no one else seemed to notice, her stuttering and fumbling hardly present in their conversation. In the beginning, he felt almost guilty for confiding in her. It would’ve been ignorant of him to believe she didn’t have problems of her own (who didn’t?), but it was a fact known by many that Marinette Dupain-Chang was one to do whatever she could to help the people she cared for. 

It was then that he noticed it: the butterflies. It was like a tsunami of anxiety, excitement, and shyness all rolled into one whenever she did anything: the way her hair moved in the breeze, her clear laugh that dared him to smile, but most of all, her kindness. Marinette was one of those people that you couldn’t hate. She was that person who helped others even when no one was looking. He didn’t want to, but he couldn’t help himself when he started falling for her every move. 

She didn’t know, probably never would, but she had him whipped. 

The blonde was snapped back into reality when his best friend nudged him: “You coming?” Nino’s brow arched in question.

He looked across the street, where his bodyguard was waiting for him, standing by the driver’s side door of the sleek black Audi. Though it’s been the same car since Adrien was like thirteen, it still looked brand new. 

“I forgot my homework,” he said to Nino, calling out to his bodyguard to repeat the same thing. With a barely discernible nod of approval from the bodyguard, Adrien turned back toward the school doors.

Adrien grumbled as he jogged away from his friend group: “Well, Nadia, Paris’ superheroes happen to have vaguely normal lives too if you weren’t aware.”

Plagg floated up from Adrien’s pant pocket and did circles around his owner’s head. “You put too much faith in humans, they don’t think about that kinda stuff. To them, you and Ladybug are untouchable.”

“Yeah, well we’re not,” he mumbled frustratedly. He pressed his palms into his eyes tiredly and took a deep breath before dropping his arms back down to his sides. 

“Plagg claws out,” he muttered. 

Plagg liked to think he knew his miraculous holder quite well. Despite the kwami’s demeanour and seeming distaste toward anything non-cheese related, he did have feelings. Yes, he loved cheese, but he also loved Adrien. He had spent the last two years with Adrien, and he knew something was terribly wrong with his owner. 

He’d ask later. The cat-like kwami entered the ring miraculous, and with that, Adrien Agreste was gone, replaced by Chat Noir. 

The leather-clad hero headed toward the disaster zone, the rain not doing anything to help his vision. He landed on a rooftop near the Akuma attack and swiftly surveyed the scene. Upon not seeing Ladybug anywhere, Chat Noir sent a quick message to Ladybug, highlighting the damage, before swooping in to hold off the Akuma.

To put it simply, Marinette was struggling. It had been the fifth Akuma attack that week and after two years of being Ladybug, her excuses were becoming weaker and weaker as time went on. Adrien’s abrupt exit was odd, but she didn’t have time to think about it as she felt the ground shake slightly. It didn’t matter how exhausted she was, she couldn’t put off her duties any longer. 

“I uhm, I forgot I had a question for Miss Bustier. I’m going to go see if she’s still around and I’ll uh just stay here until Ladybug and Chat Noir get everything taken care of!” she flashed her friends a thumbs up and with that, she ran back inside the school, toward the locker room. She opened her tiny purse in order for Tikki to emerge. “This is bullshit,” she muttered to herself. 

Tikki gasped in shock. “Marinette!”

“Sorry,” she mumbled half-heartedly, “You wouldn’t happen to care if I maybe just happened to not show up and let Chat handle it?” 

The glare that the small kwami sent her way told her otherwise. “Something about this one tells me that you’ll need all the help you can get,” she told her owner. 

Her stomach twisted with anxiety, both confusion and shock washing over her face. Tikki had never talked about the dangers of an Akuma before, which alarmed Marinette. Shit.

“Tikki, spots on.” 

Ladybug swung with all her might as her trusty yoyo grabbed onto buildings and chimneys, the sounds of destruction nearing. A black blur, undoubtedly Chat, streaked the cloudy, grey sky as an akumatized villain screeched out. Her eyes skimmed over the cobblestone streets in front of her, but nothing could prepare her for the screams of terror and bloodied civilians that scattered the scene below. 

Her feet had only touched down on the ground for a second when she heard him. 

“Nice of you to drop in,” Chat purred, startling her. “You’re late,” he added, his voice icier than expected. 

“Cry about it,” Ladybug responded coldly. 

“Meowch m’lady,” he said in mock hurt. 

“Sorry,” she muttered to her partner as she took him in. His blonde silky hair was plastered to his head from the pouring rain, the droplets permeating the black leather. If the suit wasn’t skin-tight before, it certainly was now. She had to tear her eyes away from the sight of him, her sensibility screaming at her to focus while her eyes wanted nothing more than to drink in every inch of him.

Literally what the fuck, she said to herself. Now was no time to pine for her partner. 

The Akuma that stood before her was physically underwhelming in stature, but her clothing made up for it. The girl in front of them held herself at around 5’3 and couldn’t be more than 18, but her wicked smirk sent a chill through her spine. The girl was clad in an array of green from forest, sage, to mossy shades, the dress that adorned her body looking like that straight from greek mythology. It was made up of grand silks, almost entrancing Ladybug and Chat with the way that the fabric moved like rippling water. It was ethereal, really, but the closer she looked at it the deadlier it became. 

From around the waist and shoulders, long strips of silk floated behind her like the snakes on the head of Medusa. They almost seemed to bend to her will, the fabric defying gravity. Not only were pieces of the dress floating, but so was her long dark hair. In her hand was a staff made from tree trunk like material. Resting atop her head was an obsidian black crown with spikes the length of Ladybug’s hand. 

After looking around at the already distraught state of the street, their evaluation was over: she was not going to be another walk in the park.

“Shit,” Chat breathed out. It was at that moment that the villain opened her mouth to address both the heroes and bystanders. 

“Citizens of Paris, I am Gi Mágissa. I am not here to compromise with your heroes. Others in the past have failed to retrieve what Hawk Moth desires, but I will not: today will be the day that you remember as the fall of Ladybug and Chat Noir.” Her voice resonated as if it was echoing off the walls. She shifted her gaze to the left, her eyes locking with the two of them. 

“Give me your miraculous and I may decide to spare you and your city,” she said in a dangerously low voice. Her voice was smooth, yet it cut right through the two partners like a freezing wind in the dead of winter. Under any other circumstances, her words would be humorous, cheesy even, but this was not like anything else they faced.

Chat laughed as his trademarked smirk appeared. “Funny, because I don’t remember agreeing to that,” he said in mock thoughtfulness, almost like he was trying to recall a memory.

“Chat,” Ladybug hissed, “I’m starting to get the feeling that you won’t be able to joke your way out of this one,”

“C’mon m’lady, live a little.” 

“Yeah, well I might not be alive to do so if you keep being an idiot.” Ladybug could feel the frustration rising in her as Chat continued to appear so casual and relaxed. How could he not sense that this was so much worse than before?

Chat turned to her and she could finally see his eyes. Despite his outward appearance, she saw the nervousness in his gaze. There was almost a buzz in the air, a metallic smell that made them wrinkle their noses: blood, iron maybe. 

“Fine. Let’s get this over with.”

Naturally, when he was young he’d have a phase for Harry Potter, only the books though, and as he got older he’d re-read them and laugh at the magical inconsistencies.

TAZ. He probably simped at some point for Taako. Perhaps just dnd in general, and he either played a Magick user of some kind or a bard depending on his level of intoxication.

*inhales* PERCY JACKSON. that's it that's the point. He even got the unfulfilling Best Years Of Your Life Depression(tm) from reading exciting, romanticised accounts of teenagehood, only for it to not live up because how could it? its chill though, he finds his own little ways to be adventurous like making pasta in the late dead of night/early void hours of the morning, and eating on the floor. Faust helps him. 

Listens to sleeping at last just to feel again and Saturn is his favourite and he will dance sensually and soulfully to it, somehow.

He watches Midnight gospel because he just loves the concept of podcasts but can sometimes struggle listening when its just audio bc he will vibe himself into a mediative state and have no idea what half the episode was about, so the visuals ironically keep him pretty grounded while he watches it. (He does meditate afterwards, though)

Julian: 

This man DID have a fnaf phase and he IS the MAN behind THE SLAUGHTER. (He also gets a kick outta die in a fire (obviously) but it sends him absolutely, irrevocably feral)

He 100% had an emo phase too, but in a gay way that slowly transitioned into a weird taste for aspects of cottage core but like a Seaside cottage, and jams it to bear ghost now. 

I bet he also got into true crime and has many pieces of paraphernalia with the slogan “Be GAY Do CRIME”. He also knows waaaay too much about how to dispose of bodies from that one reddit thread and worries everyone by bringing it up just a little bit too often. Also! out of morbid curiosity, he's the kinda bitch that would watch autopsy videos at 3:27am and is subscribed to ask a mortician and definitely participates in vulture culture.

Ngl he probably also got roped into a SuperWhoLock phase by Asra and it just added to his trust issues and permanently damaged his Gaydar.

He can't tell whether he wants to BE hozier or if he wants to FUCK him but tbh he's not fussy. He sings his heart out to From Eden, and bops hard to cheer wine (his favourite is the live version) and you better bet he listens to the 8d audios of Hozier but its.... and his YT history is full of them.

Nadia:

She's a bad bitch, but probably didn't get into anything too obscure. She probably has liked something and tried desperately to hide it from her elder sisters, only for them to get into it too. she’d be alright about it at first, but when Nasmira starts getting way more likes on her fandom content, Nadia starts feeling a bit put down and quits the fandom. 

She’s is or has been at some point been knee deep in showtunes. She liked Hamilton but isn't quite trash for it, but will wipe the floor with your ass if Dead Girl Walking comes on.

Probably had a ‘not like other girls phase’ but instead of giving her a weird, kinda toxic relationship with womanhood, she got over it and accepts her femininity and will defend within an inch of her life women's rights and choices. 

She's a proud Barb and would absolutely let Doja cat step on her. She hypes up girls on their OnlyFans and will actively murder people who tries to disrespect sex workers, as she too, respects the grind. 

Also likes Greek and Egytian mythology, and stans Medusa as a victim of Men aint being shit. She also can't decide whether she stans Persephone or Aphrodite more and it is a constant ongoing debate in her head. She probably supports Lore Olympus on patreon.

Lucio:

MLP but he wouldn't ever admit it, and protects Fluttershy from creeps with his liFE. he also actually felt pretty bad for Discord, and kinda related to him. (Legend has it that on cursed, cursed nights of solitude, you can hear the sounds of DiSCOrddd iM hOWLin’ aT ThE MooN~~ drift in the air, accompanied by an actually really good rendition of the lyrics).

Lucio also liked heathers and he and Nadia bond over belting it out together, but his favourite is candy store (but will occasionally bop it to Big Fun).

His experience of Gay Culture was just binge watching drag race while he was still trying to accept his mlm-ness, and gatekeeped it until he learnt eventually how its supposed to be a place of tolerance and support and will now actively encourage All drag monarchs to work it. (He realises belatedly why it felt kinda wrong when RuPaul/the show did the queens dirty and the lack of diverse identites etc). He’s a little off with some things but with a little guidance from a very hesitant Asra, he's slowly getting Woke. (Neither will admit that they bond over these little lessons by the end of it, but everyone knows it and wish they’d just chill abt it)

Liked Voltron, stanned Lotor and his redemption arc and just... does Not want to talk about it.

Got into Buzzfeed Unsolved and is mildly ashamed of himself but he finds Shane and Ryans dynamic really funny so he keeps watching it anyways. For some ~~mysterious~~ reason, he has had mad respect for Shane after the Goatman’s bridge episode, and immediately went to send it to everyone else, but got scared. 

He likes to watch documentaries on cryptids (sometimes with Asra, or with Julian depending on how creepy the cryptid is)

His life was changed on the fateful day of 11/11/11. He has the highest logged hours on steam out of everyone ever and ProtectOrcs2020 could basically be his tagline at this point. He always adopts the kids and makes them the Best House with the hearthfire DLC. He always goes with the stormcloaks and probably simps for at least 5 of the companions.

He got into the Witcher through the Netflix series and started out being a Geralt stan, but jaskier slowly snook his way into his heart and he highkey ships them and Siri IS their child. (he would convince Nadia to cosplay as Yennefer, if he had more confidence). 

Portia:

She liked dan and Phil but wasn't creepy abt it. She swore she could never pick a side but she secretly enjoyed Phil’s content more bc existentialism gives her anxiety. She did ship them but has since learnt quick that irl people ships aren't cute. She probably stays Thomas Sanders too

IF you're looking for a bitch with the nicest island on animal crossing, portia is 100% your bitch. She has Lillies of the valley for days and absolutely died when the special edition AC switch sold out before she could buy one, and compensates by copious amounts of Isabelle and the able sister stickers. Her favourite villagers are Fauna, Goldie, and Nate. 

Portia is also a queen of Stardew and often passes out before she can get to bed because she just wants to get ON with her beautiful FarM dammit! She can never make her mind up what villager she wants to romance and switches faves like every week.

thoughts on lost butterfly (with a lot of spoilers)

ok so i just got back from watching fate stay night heavens feel lost butterfly and here are my thoughts:

short version: I loved it!

long version under the cut (with spoilers so be careful!)

this movie wasnt perfect (could it ever be?) but i does most of the things right, esp stuff i wasnt happy with in the vn, so let me tell you what i loved and what not.

what i didnt love (ive got three main gripes that im gonna get out of the way first):

there should have been illya scenes in the first movie, because it ended up hurting the second movie. the shirou and illya scene in the park (before the rain scene) lacked impact and meaning because these two hadnt actually gotten to know each other much.

there was no follow up to saber alter appearing. shirou didnt deal with that at all (they may put that in the third movie tho)

beautiful aria...why did they cut most of it..thats like one of my fave scenes in the vn, and they cut out shirou and sakuras conversation part of it completely..that actually makes me mad

theres other smaller stuff that i didnt love (freaking fanservice), but i will keep that for another time

thankfully there was more stuff i loved so lets get to those:

close to the beginning was a new (baby) sakura scene added, that hurt and scared me lot...my poor child..

rider and sakura are great together. rider doing everything for sakura is even greater. rider saying she LOVES sakura and wants her to live? the greatest.

the rain scene was all it should be and more even. bc they added the sweet scene of shirou pressing sakuras key to his home (which shed lost before) into her hand and them holding hands like that while hugging...just yes thank you ufotable

everything they did with the shadow?? so good and scary..and sad actually

they also did some stuff with sakuras actual own shadow to show sth was wrong with her..that was so fucking scary and unsettling in a good way

i didnt think id ever say this but..i loved the sex scene. fanservice aside (and i had to ignore a lot), on an emotional and intimate level they really nailed it (hah). the kiss..the hug..the handholding..sakura being vulnerable about her insecurities and shirou being so sweet and understanding..yea..

saber alter vs. berserker looked really fucking good

archer throwing those small little glances towards illya...sadness..both archer and shirou protecting illya was very sweet

rin and sakura scene in the kitchen..adorable..the only time i like tsunderin

but the scene where sakura finds out about rin knowing shirou for as long as she does? really heartbreaking..made me hurt a lot..sakura my baby..

sakura vs. gil was amazing...theres a part where sakura is regenerating and it lookes straight out of a horror zombie flick..so good..and gil died fast..so fast you couldnt even see except for sakuras big ‘nom’

speaking of this scene: the pseudo dream sequence of sakura where shes kinda alice in wonderland but with a sinister twist? what a way to show her dealing with what shes doing as a shadow..that was unsettling in such an innocent way..

in general i felt they dealt with sakuras psyche really well, showing her slowly lose her mind and her complicated contradicting thoughts and fears

also really sad to watch was both of them (shirou/sakura) being in denial so fucking hard..them pretending everything was fine out of desperation hurt me so much..my babies..

rider medusa scene was super nice and then super sad when sakura hurt herself

i dont remember for sure,, but i dont think there was a fujimura scene anywhere near the end was there? but it was nice addition..also probably the reason beautiful aria ended so shortly

which while im at it, was still appropriately sad and heartwrenching and made me want to bawl my eyes out but still..

sakura killing shinji earned her the whole theaters applause. very well deserved. and the process of her turning into dark sakura looked so cool and unsettling too, i cant wait for her to fuck everyone up in the last movie!!!!!!!

ok thats it for now bc this is super long already but yeah as i said i loved the movie, i want to rewatch it already and i cant wait for the last one!!

La Villian Cafe

Okay so here’s a one-shot that I whipped up yesterday. I got the idea from someone, but I can’t remember who it was so, if it’s you, please tell me! Credit belongs to them!! Enjoy!

One would think it weird that there was a whole cafè dedicated to just Villains somewhere out there in the world. It was a place where villains could settle down every now and then, either with each other or by themselves. They knew it’d be counted as a crossover, but as long as they weren’t on screen, they were fine. It was built as a get away, as a place where they could settle down, so it was built and looked as such. It was cute and cozy, like every other coffee shop, and most of its occupants wouldn’t ever want it otherwise. Even if those occupants were very few, it was managing very well (Especially since most of them came from the Disney franchise).

It was a warm afternoon when the bell of the shop ringed with the opening of the door, and in entered the Greek God of the Underworld, Hades, from the movie Hercules. With a face that looked like he was ready to drop at any moment, he stretched his arms with a grimace, giving a long groan and dropping his arms. He made his way towards the front, where a friendly looking woman with a towel around her head awaited with a smile.

“Hello Mr. Hades,” She said sweetly. “Your usual?”

“That sounds good. Except maybe add in a doughnut and…” He thought for a moment, squinting at nothing. “Two shots of espresso.”

“Alright. Hard day in the Underworld, huh?” The woman asked as she turned to the counter behind her.

“Psh, you know it Medusa.” Hades leaned against the counter with a sigh. “These restless souls are just.. So uncooperative, you know? I tell them, ‘Hey, maybe you’re getting tortured and burned in fire, but it’s not all too bad. You’ll get used to it after some decades.’ But all they want to do is moan and complain. Drives you insane.”

Medusa nodded. “Oh I know. It’s hard to be a villain.” She turned back to him and placed a bag and cup of coffee onto the counter. “Here you go. $22.37, please.”

After paying what he owed, he turned to the shop before him and took a sip of his coffee, and gave sigh of relief. “That’s the stuff…”

“Hey, Hades! Over here over here!” A voice called suddenly, and Hades noticed that, in the corner next to a window, sat Doctor Doofenshmirtz, waving a hand wildly with a large grin on his face.

Hades sighed with annoyance, but walked over to him anyway and sat. “Hello, Doof.”

“Long time no see!” Doofenshmirtz replied. “How’s life in the Underworld? Goin’ good?”

“Just the opposite.” Hades muttered, then took out his doughnut and bit into it.

“Oh. Well, anyway, have you heard what Disney had done? Have you heard their latest news yet?”

Hades shook his head. “I don’t get told much. I live at the bottom of the Earth. It’s hard to get any news from anywhere down there.”

“Well it’s a good thing you came here! I’m telling you, you are really going to love this!” Doof added that with a wink. “It’s gonna blow your socks off!”

“Oh I’m sure it will.” Hades muttered to himself, and took another sip of his coffee as Heinz continued. But what he was about to say was definitely unexpected.

“They say that Disney has made another new villain! They say he’s real powerful, and dangerous! Maybe not as powerful as all of us combined, heh, but.. He sounds real menacing!”

Hades almost spat out what was in his mouth, interest perked as he stared at Doofenshmirtz. “.. A new villain? Did you hear a name? A-a description, perhaps?”

“Unfortunately no.” Doof looked down sadly. “But man, that description got me excited. Wonder who it’ll be…” It was quiet for a few seconds as the two mulled over the thought, the Doofenshmirtz gasped and looked up with a newly found energy. “Hey, do you think he’ll find this coffee shop? Do you think they’ll let him have access?”

“.. I dunno,” Hades shrugged. “The guy sounds a bit too dangerous for this place, though, don’t you think-?”

Suddenly, the door to the cafe opened and interrupted what Hades was saying. Both of their heads turned to see who it was, but their faces immediately became confused. There stood a boy who looked about the age of fourteen, with black hair, one blue streak in it. He looked as if he was lost, looking around the room rather awkwardly. A racoon was hanging on to his shoulders, also looking as lost as the boy.

His blue eyes seemed to have almost no light in them as he awkwardly stepped in, took a breath of air, and announced quietly, “Um… They told me to come here, so uh.. Yeah..”

From around the counter, Medusa walked up to him with a suspicious smirk. “Do you have a card, young man?”

The boy blinked at her for a second, then muttered, “Oh” and reached into his front pocket in his apron.

He handed it to Medusa, who stared at it for a few seconds, then looked back at the boy. “Hm. Fine. Welcome to La Villain Cafe. Enjoy your stay!” She handed him back the card with a half smile, then walked back behind the counter, looking at him with curiousity.

Hades and Doofenshmirtz watched as he walked himself over to the far back of the cafe, and sat with his back facing the other two. The racoon climbed into his lap with a soft coo, and the boy pet his head slowly.

“... You gotta be serious.” Doof whispered, bringing Hades’s attention back to him. “ That can’t be him, can it? I mean, he doesn’t look evil. He doesn’t even have a lab coat!”

“He has an apron and gloves,” Hades pointed out. “It’s close right? Plus, you don’t look evil either, and yet her you are.”

Doof nodded, then realized what he said and glared at him. “Hey, wait a minute

-!”

“We should go over and talk to ‘im.” Hades interrupted him, hiding a smirk that pulled on his lips as he stood and walked over.

Doofenshmirtz sat for a second, then followed behind him while muttering underneath his breath.

The boy looked up when Hades arrived with a somewhat polite smile on his face. “Hey kid, you must be that new guy we’ve heard alot about.”

The boy stared at him for a second, before saying, “... And your hair is on fire.”

Hades blinked as his smile suddenly vanished at the sudden comment, while Doofenshmirtz snickered behind him.

Hades shook his head, then grinned again and laughed. “... Heh, you’re smart kid, real smart. Nice one. Name’s Hades, Lord of the Underworld, brother of Zeus and so forth. What’s your name?”

“... Varian.” The boy muttered, then looked away and into the window. “Now go away.”

“Wow, this kid seems real depressed.” Hades whispered to himself after another stunned silence.

“Lemme try.” Doofenshmirtz stepped in front of him. “Hey, Varitos was it-?”

“Varian.” Varian replied stiffly, but didn’t look at them.

“Varian. Right. Where ya from? You seem like an interesting character. What do you do?” He waited for a response, and when there wasn’t one, Doof continued, slipping into the chair across from him. “You know, I’m an inventor. I make stuff to destroy my arch nemesis with so that I can someday rule the Tri State Area. And, maybe the world afterwards.”

This seemed to have spiked his interest, because Varian looked over at him with slight confusion at his words. “... Tri State Area?”

Doofenshmirtz grinned. “Yeah. It’s where I live in my world, though. Don’t worry about it.” He shifted his position. “Did you try to take over the world?”

Varian blinked. “Uh.. No, not rea-”

“Doof not every villain wants to do that,” Hades said with an eye roll. “How about your backstory huh? Do you have one?”

“Uh, I suppose-”

“Hey, I was supposed to ask that!” Doofenshmirtz shouted at Hades.

Hades rose an eyebrow. “And why should it matter?”

“Because I actually have one! You are only something that came from a fairy tale that’s not even scientifically possible!”

“Hey, if ya wanna see the Underworld, be my guest. Nothing’s stoppin’ ya.”

Doof glared at him, then looked back at Varian with a fake grin. “So Varian. Got any parents? Relationships? Who’s that furry little friend of yours?”

“It’s a racoon.” Hades muttered.

“I know it’s a racoon! I asked ‘who’, not ‘what’.”

The argument lasted for a while, and it lasted until Varian seemed to have gotten enough of it. He stood upright from his seat, fists clenched as he shouted, “Enough!!”

Hades and Doof looked at him, blinking with surprise in mid-argument.

“Since you won’t leave me alone about it, I guess I have no other option than to tell you my own personal business!!” Varian snapped. “I started out as a humble alchemist who wanted to simply help everyone in Corona and make my father proud of me, but nobody ever wanted my help and I somehow made things worse! Then these black rocks came in and began completely destroying my life--quite literally might I add--without stopping! The princess of my world, Rapunzel, gave me her word that she’d help me figure them out, but she practically lied to me when I went to her and begged for her help! You know why?! My father was being encased by those same black rocks!! But precious Corona apparently came first! And then, she expects me to be perfectly okay with everything?! No!! Of course I’m gonna backstab her and steal the SunDrop Flower! She did that to me!! Oh sure, she apologized before that, but if she really cared, why in the world didn’t she come and see me after that storm?! They left me there, so that I took care of myself without an adults or parents or anything!! But they’re only gonna care about what I need when I attack the castle with a robot army, capture the queen, and almost kill the queen!! Noone’s gonna care that everything I’ve done was to save my father, who I am seriously hoping is still alive!! They’re just gonna simply throw me in jail and forget about me, let me rot until there’s nothing left of me while the princess and her little group of friends goes out and explores, when everything happened because of her!! She’s the reason why I’m here, she’s the reason why my dad’s not here, she’s the reason why those black rocks exist!! She’s the reason why I’m a villain!!”

The cafe was quiet.

Doofenshmirtz and Hades stared up at Varian, who suddenly found himself standing on the table, with mouths wide open and eyes as small as dots. There were a bit more villains that had entered who stared at Varian with the same looks the other two gave, standing stock still. From behind the counter Medusa also stared at him, frozen in mid pour.

Varian was huffing slightly, and he turned his attention back to the other two and whispered past the lump in his throat, “Well… Now you know.. Happy?”

He scooped up Ruddiger from underneath the table after jumping off of it, and stormed passed the others, who quickly moved out of his way as he did so. They stared, even after the door had been slammed shut, and he disappeared around the corner, where two guards had apparently been waiting for him. One of them placed a hand on his shoulder before they had completely rounded it.

“.... No words…” Hades barely whispered finally. “Absolutely no words….”

Doofenshmirtz closed his mouth. “He looks so young… Why would they..? The kid isn’t even…”

Slowly, the rest of the people continued with what they were doing, and when Hades glanced over at Medusa, he noticed that she was facing him. He knew under those sunglasses of hers, was a glare as hard as stone.

alright so sorry if this is disorganized i swear ive thought this out, and also this involves a lot of speculation considering we never see kami (i know that’s not actually her name and it’s a translation error but im just gonnna use it) but i think that itself is a clue, anyway--

let’s start with the fact that spirit has a need to please. we mostly see this with maka, considering she is his daughter and she kinda despises him. but i think we can also see this after the eve party nightmare arc, when he’s cleaning the hell out of everything to please shinigami. sure, it’s again driven by maka, but he still wants desperately to please.

and actually, let’s talk about that, too. why was he so sure that he would be sent away? consider that we know he’s death’s most powerful scythe. it’s said several times in canon. so why would he be sent away over making a mistake about where to go? if you think about what he knew when the lock was coming down, he made the right choice. he had no idea when death would be able to leave, he just knew medusa was a witch and she was escaping and stein and the kids were being jettisoned out of there to probably fight her

he made the only choice that made sense. chasing the witch.

and death would know this. so why was spirit so sure that he was going to be sent away from the city and his daughter? because of insecurity, and he had been shown that mistakes bring the ultimate punishment: loss of contact with maka

the only reason spirit sees maka as often as he does is because she goes to the school he works at. but we know how loving and devoted a father he is (if a little silly and overprotective). so why did kami get full custody? because the justice system always sides with women, no matter if they are the better parent or not. and what did kami do with that full custody?

in fact, she might have already been gone while judges were deciding that somehow she was the more responsible parent. because the series starts just after the divorce was finalized, but from how maka acts when she gets a postcard, her mother has already been gone for months. what kind of parent leaves their child alone when theyre in the middle of a divorce?

and yes, kami is a meister, so maybe she was away on important meister business. but still, wouldnt the very recent divorce at least earn a visit home? or a phone call? in fact, what parent stays away for months at a time, doing a dangerous job, and knowing that their child is doing the same dangerous job, would not constantly call for check ups? what parent just sends a postcard every few months, with no other word of “hey maka, how have you been?”

you cant deny that, objectively, spirit would have been more responsible. yes, he’s an alcoholic--but he’s an alcoholic because of the divorce, because he has no custody of maka. he’s right there in the city, to support her. but because he has no custody, he barely has the chance to rebuild a relationship with the most important thing in his life. even if kami hated him for cheating, she would know how good of a father he is. so why did she take custody?

spite and punishment

she hates him for cheating. which, is warranted. but she also hates him for getting out of his control. here’s where it gets pretty speculative, but stick with me. we know they had maka when spirit was ~18. they probably found out about the pregnancy when he was 17. which is fucking terrifying in the first place, adding onto the fact theyre in the middle of a dangerous war, and we dont know if spirit was a deathscythe by this time. either way, terrifying. they dont know what to do. so they get married. and we can all agree 18 is too young to get married, right? so already at a young age, spirit was tied down to kami through pregnancy and marriage (and her to him)

consider again spirit’s irrational urge to please, and his belief that mistakes will cause him to lose maka. i think that kami would use maka against him. if he did something she didnt like, she’d remind him that they were married, he had a responsibility to them, if he didnt do what she said he wouldn't be seeing maka again. (she’d also kami chop him, which i think arguably could be said is physical abuse, but idk since it’s played as comedy within the series. interpret as u will). she wanted him under her thumb, because she was his meister and he was her weapon, and meisters control their weapons

i also think she was turning maka against him. we know from pictures and flashbacks that spirit was a doting father. he loved her more than anything. but ask maka, and all she can remember is the cheating. which is valid, but it seems like she completely ignores the good memories. i think all this was reinforced by her mother, that her father is awful and doesnt love them

now i know this is all conjecture, but consider maka. we know her personality is a lot like kami’s. spirit says so. so,we can kind of infer kami’s personality through hers. let’s go down the list. stubborn, confident, strong, temperamental. consider how her and soul get along at the start of the series. they fight constantly. soul gets maka chopped pretty frequently. consider the fact that soul and spirit are actually a lot alike. laid back, kinda emotional, obsessed with a certain image (cool, flirty). i think we can infer spirit and kami’s relationship from maka and soul’s. and i think that shows a lot

consider if soul and maka hadnt improved their relationship. consider if suddenly they had a kid and had to get married. consider if soul was just a little less stubborn and a little more submissive (and a little more like spirit)

what you’ve got there is an undeniably toxic relationship

now, to address the cheating. it wasnt right, no matter what, it was especially awful that maka saw. but i dont think that changes the fact that spirit was cheating to feel loved. if kami was like i say she is--if she was controlling, and belittling, and using maka against him. do you think he’d feel loved? not at all. so what does he turn to? the only thing that he can think of, that will make him feel loved: sex and women. kami didnt provide him the support he needed. he was already emotionally unstable bc of stein and his whole deal. kami should have been understanding, patient, loving. instead she kami chopped him into a shape she liked

spirit turned to cheating bc sex was the only thing that made him feel like he was wanted. and kami--kami didnt like losing control. so she punished him the best way she could: taking maka

in conclusion, spirit is insecure and afraid of rejection and losing his daughter because his exwife took custody just to make him feel like shit bc he left her control, thanks for coming to my tedtalk and im sorry this is so long

really long gbf ramble about my wind team under the cut

okay but in the last week my wind line up changed dramatically from

bc tia got a 5* uncap and i got valentine grimnir, and wind favored gw is like literally tomorrow,,

but honestly shit man valentine grimnir is like actually absolutely perfect for my specific set up. like i can see him being real low tier for certain set ups, especially early game. because you basically need a set up with some form of charge bar boost for him and frequent multi hit skill damage to speed up his cyclone lv gain (which tbh the 30 hit damage is only really going to happen when the boss is only one enemy which oops lol hl yggy, medusa (normal and hl), and baal are all not just one enemy but oh well). plus you want some form of damage cap, especially skill damage cap increase. i could probably have better skill damage cap increase (which is really what i should work on now), but as of now i do have sk lv15 qinglong spear malus, and 5* tia’s skill that boosts skill damage specs based on allies wind crests. what does suck is one once tia reaches 5 crests crippling storm becomes surpercell, which is great but it no longer gives wind crests to allies. HOWEVER BACK IN NOV I DREW ELIL, AND SHE CAN APPLY WIND CRESTS AND HAS A SUB AURA THAT BOOSTS WIND ATTACK BASED ON NUMBER OF CRESTS, SO DRAWING HER HAS FINALLY PAID OFF. Now unfortunately tia doesn’t have the most amazing multi attack, though i have 3 points in her em support skill that boosts her multi when not debuffed, and two in her trip, i also don’t really want to try and reroll her over mastery because she got 8% skill damage cap and 6% debuff resistance which both help even though they aren’t that high (and i’d rather try to reroll val grimnir bc he got da and that’s useless for him since he’s guaranteed to trip). Scathacha doesn’t have a multi at prob bc her sup skill boosts her multi when wind atk is applied (which is 100% uptime with her being lv 100), +5% trim from em and +12% double from over master (which also gave her a 12% skill damage cap) (AND I GAVE HER A WEDDING RING BECAUSE I LOVE HER AND WANTED TO RAISE HER DAMAGE CAP, I actually skill have one em star to fill, but bc it’s the last one it requires 28 points but im not 100% where i want to put it bc i have everything i wanted maxed taken, the 2 attack nodes, 2 def nodes, and 2 da nodes are all empty and the only ones left, i guess i could prob put it in da just bc soooometimes she does only attack once... but idk if maybe putting one in def or in just attack would be nice...). I don’t have too much problem Multi atk as Solider class with my class bonus of +10% trip, and +4% da and +2% da from master bonus and +5% trip in em (i didn’t bother putting any in da bc of bullet management, and once i could take bullet crafting off i put it into weapon spc damage bc my grid is still tia bolts and i’m using all 34 stars as of now bc atk, hp, def, skill damage, debuff success, ca I & II, total party hp, ta, damage cap, and one in skill damage II). But anyways, because I have the class champion weapon, John Doe, I don’t have to bother taking the reload skill because I reload on my ca. i take mis mist to hit def/atk down cap with tia, open fire & guerrilla tactics. now with guerrilla tactics when active if i dodge an attack i do 4 hit sup elemental damage to random foes (which helps val grimnir out) plus it boosts my chargebar gain, which when I wasn’t using tia in my part was necessary for starting the never need to reload cycle, since with the chargebar gain and then using open fire to fire all 6 of my bullets, it basically be like i just did two turns of trip attack (getting all the benefits of the bullets used) and gain an instant ca for the actual first turn of combat. then the second turn use the three round bust to use my three bullets and then be guaranteed to trip on the second turn of combat and get ca for third turn (but also ca doesn’t just reload my bullets it gives 30% charge bar boost so there’s no worry about making sure i have boosted charge bar to reach ca before using all my bullets for the rest of the fight, unless i get unlucky and a boss drains my charge bar, oh well). But the other important this I did to John Doe was the second skill i picked. Gunslinger’s Divinity. it’s basically a similar effect to guerrilla tactics, 4-hit sup elemental damage to random foes at the end of turn. except you don’t have to dodge, you just have to not take damage. both of these 4-hit superior elemental damage triggers also tend to be about 1 mill damage when triggered. but more importantly, when you’ve only got one boss enemy, with these it’s infinitely easier to hit damage one target 30 times to increase val grimnir’s cyclone lv. since his attack is 3-hit damage to random foes... 3 times... that guaranteed 9-hits. now idk how ca damage is counted since like if you don’t skip the animation it’s clearly multiple hits, but i do think it count’s because i’ve had his cyclone lv go up when the hits would not have added up to 30. though it also makes me wonder if poison damage counts as well, bc one of my parabellum bullets is poison (which i can always switch out to flame if i ever feel like it like bc maybe a boss is immune to poison but not burn). But anyways aside from the extra hit damage synergy, the other great synergy val grimnir has provided is his ougi buffs. bc man it might suck that his ougi does no damage, except it the buffs it provides are wonderful, yeah keen and the wind crit are obviously good, especially when you get holy rays of purification on the field and just goes into constant crit mode without even a single last storm harp in your grid. but the shield, yes only three turns, but with scathacha out on the field that isn’t just a shield it’s bonus wind damage for everyone... bonus wind damage for all 9 OF VALENTINE GRIMNIR’S HITS. bc each hit of the 3 hit damage count as separate damage instances and bonus damage, and supplemental damage apply to each one. and with 3 stars in his charge bar gain em node and tia’s 3 turn chargebar gain boost it makes up for his 35% slower charge bar gain, esp if he’s triple attacking every single damn turn. not to mention once you get holy rays of purification out, and you can just start focusing on building up 7 cyclone level’s for divine tempest, with the supplemental damage and skill damage cap increase i’ve got, the 20-hit, 150% wind damage with a cap of ~80,000 per hit becomes a damage cap of ~220,000 per hit and becomes a ~4.3 - 4.5 mil nuke that i can set up every ~4-5 turns (which can also make the debuffs indefinite if they land each time). and so that kinda makes up for his lack of ougi. he just needs times to set up and the right team. and one enemy bosses. like godsword alexiel, who i can almost solo now. (i can solo hl medusa no prob now, i’d done it before but it’s even easier now. baal is a bit of a problem child tho bc he’s special),,, wonder how he is for Gilgamesh, but i’ve only hosted the hl tier 3 summon raids like once for each bc i’m scared.

the art is cool. it strikes me as a more caricature-like form of the disney golden books. i LOVE the blank music staffs to convey the shitty gut feeling/apollos influence, and the petals signalling persephone or thoughts of her.

hades’ inconsistent face kinda bugs me? i can see the desired style, but it feels like his face is too perfect from the front or too stretched from the side. one of those. if u make a character with a “““Weird””” nose u fucking commit to that shit from all angles!!!! cmon now

also i noticed the censoring of swears is pretty inconsistent lol. means nothing though.

overall entertaining enough for me to only lay out most of these flaws after reading, so suspension of disbelief is a go. will probably reblog lore olympus content because im a moron who projects myself onto het ships and thinks abt my gf a lot
