Toby hates fighting with you, and even when you are fighting he says stuff he doesnt mean and regrets it later

i still have not gotten over the songbirds and snakes score. one thing i really love about it in comparison to the other hunger games OSTs is the use of piano. maybe i'm wrong about this, but i don't remember there being much piano within the original film scores. in tbosas though, this isn't exactly the case. i feel like howard's use of the piano adds this extra layer of darkness, as well as tinges of sadness and desperation, to the film. from a worldbuilding standpoint, the music is fascinating and gives the film some pretty intriguing layers.

i also think that howard's use of piano during snow's scenes further adds to his calculating and cold character. the music alone creates this stark difference between him and characters such as katniss or peeta. to me, the piano that plays near the end of "ideas firing" and at the very end of "the sound of snow" really captures the darkness growing within him.

and i appreciate this a lot, because a book like tbosas is hard to adapt well when we aren't able to get any of snow's inner monologues like in the book. i think tom blyth did an amazing job portraying snow... and i also think that without james newton howard's compositions, the film would not have captured the book as effectively as it did.
