jj and queerness
just rewatched s3 ep17: "in heat", and I have a lot to say:
as much as I love will and jj, by all creative writing choices made this episode, that conversation with will at the end should've led to jj coming out. people talk about emily a lot, but no, jj is one of the most queercoded characters I've ever ran into.
the expirence of the hidden relationship you're not exactly ashamed off but you also wanna keep all to yourself because sharing it means dealing with other people?
having your partner upset at you because they feel you're ashamed of them?
the awkward conversation with emily about will's looks?
those are expirences almost every queer person I've met had. including me.
the voice crack when she's analyzing the unsub and talking about being queer and freedom to be yourself?
will telling her he doesn't care charles was gay he just wishes he told him so he could've supported him?
how deeply affected and understanding jj is with this whole case?
having all of these happen in a case that is specifically about queerness and suppressing queerness?
and that's just the first time a case dealing with queer themes that affected her specifically. It does, in fact, happen again.
s8 ep15: "broken" -
the team run into a convertion camp within their investigation, and the moment jj is faced with it her focus gets put on shutting it down.
while all of them are shocked and upset by it, jj is angry in a way that seems so personal.
she's affected by it in a way non of the others are, and she makes it a point to make sure the police gets involved as fast as possible when everyone else were ready to just skip forward and leave it alone.
her relationship with her mom and growing up:
jj describes feeling trapped in a small town. saving up and working her ass off through high school so she can get into college as far and as fast as she can.
she felt so trapped, that after first leaving she never ever came back.
she grew up in a small town where everyone is all up in each other's business and no one can be themselves.
she also personally mentions it in north mammon, and scolds the parents for fighting, specifically in relation to one of the parents hiding being a homosexual man.
again, it's personal for her. she seems angry, personally so.
s14 ep12: "hamelin" -
"one daughter who never saw seventeen and the other..."
there's a stop, they're giving space for implications. her mom looks disappointed and sad, she's clearly judging in that way only a mother can. she has something to say but she can't, because it's too much.
"the other what, mom? the other what?"
jj clearly knows what her mom wants to say. she looks like she's heard it a million times before, like every conversation they have somehow ended with the same complaint.
"..who left. went away, and stayed away."
this is all queerbaiting ofc, or could mean absolutely nothing, but jj and queerness is something very very dear to me.

Okay just to show that like I promise I am doing stuff with the survey (cut to the 15 page paper sitting in my google docs rn but I’m not happy with it yet and I haven’t done everything I want to with the data yet), here’s like extremely preliminary stuff:
- 56% of people who took the survey were trans men, 26.2% non-binary, and 7.2% trans women. Of course there is overlap, Some legends chose all 3 options, some 2, and there are also a healthy amount of gender-fluid, bi-gender, and agender people.
-Only 2% were heterosexual, with 37% identifying as bisexual or queer, 24% homosexual, and 23% aspec or asexual.
- 58% were aged 18-22. Shoutout to the 2% of people aged 33-40. 29% were 23-27 and 11% were 28-32
- 85% of people had socially transitioned (I actually. Okay I took some liberties here because sometimes people would be like “I’ve gotten top surgery and HRT” but then wouldn’t check the social transition box but I feel like. They probably have) I did forget to put hysterectomy, that’s my bad.
- the majority (around 64%) of people who had gone ftmtf (or ftnbtf) had gotten top surgery (which is higher than the average 40% of AFAB people who had).
- I actually think it’s more interesting to look at the data from a non-binary (including everyone who didn’t choose trans man/transmasc or trans woman/trans fem. Non-binary here is more a category than a label) vs binary trans person perspective. Surprisingly binary trans people were more likely to fully detransition, but non-binary trans people were, ofc, more likely to say that this kink had helped them explore their gender identity
- Many people said that this kink helped them process trauma, rather it be from transphobia, child abuse, or sexual assault. This is in line with other studies looking at the connection between kink and trauma (not to say everyone who participates in kink has trauma, but more to say it’s an established outlet)
- AFAB people were more likely (90% of people who responded to that question) to say this kink had helped with their body image than AMAB people (only 30%) I actually haven’t gotten around to looking at non-binary vs binary for this part oops.
-41% of people have told sexual partners, with 32% not having told.
- The most common comorbid kink is breeding no matter if you’re into masculinization or feminization. AMAB people are more likely (42%) to be into hypno than AFAB people (15%)
Anyways that’s a brief summary FOR NOW. I have more in the works but. Also for the final paper these numbers are subject to change because I do still have data coming in and sometimes I go insane and change the way I’m counting things so. It shouldn’t be a massive change in terms of findings but more a change in terms of numbers (for example I’ve fucked around with categories, especially for kinks and gender and sexuality, a lot. I haven’t landed on how exactly I want to do all of this yet)

"Trans people can be heterosexual, but they can't be straight" is a stupid fucking take because not only does it misgender transhets, it's also just not the way language works.
The argument tends to be that "straight" refers to having a "normative" or "socially acceptable" sexuality, which heterosexuality tends to be seen as, but isn't in the case of transhet people.
It's true that "straight" has historically been used that way. For example, Transgender Warriors (1996) includes the line "The trans population is a reminder that not everyone who is heterosexual is straight!" (page 92). At this point, straight had a meaning that was distinct from heterosexual, with straight meaning "not queer" and heterosexual meaning "attracted to the opposite gender."
However, straight (in reference to sexuality) and heterosexual have both had a lot of different meanings over time, and it's pretty stupid to pick one at random and go yes, this is the true correct meaning.
The terms "heterosexual" and "homosexual" appear in a letter by Karl Maria Kertbeny in 1869. Homosexual refers to erotic acts between two men or two women, and heterosexual refers to erotic acts between women and men. But Kertbeny still considered heterosexuals to be degenerates, as they engaged in nonprocreative sexual acts. (The Invention of Heterosexuality, pg. 33)
In 1892, Dr. James G. Kiernan used the word "heterosexual" in a Chicago medical journal. In this case, heterosexual referred to people who felt "inclination to both sexes." The hetero- prefix didn't refer to being attracted to a different gender than one's own, but to being attracted to two different genders. (The Invention of Heterosexuality, pg. 21)
Then, in 1893, Richard von Krafft-Ebing published Psychopathia Sexualis, where he used the term "hetero-sexual" to refer to sexual desire or "sexual love" between men and women, and is used to mean a "normal" sexuality. (The Invention of Heterosexuality, pg. 22)
In 1901, a medical dictionary defined "heterosexuality" as "Abnormal or perverted appetite toward the opposite sex." (The American illustrated medical dictionary, pg. 300)
In 1923, Merriam Webster defined "heterosexuality" as "morbid sexual passion for one of the opposite sex." Then, in 1934, the definition was changed to "manifestation of sexual passion for one of the opposite sex." (Merriam Webster's New International Dictionary, pg. xcii; Webster's New International Dictionary Second Edition, pg. xcvi
For much of the early history of the term "heterosexual," it was used interchangeably with the term "normal-sexual." (Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality, pg. 14)
The use of "straight" in reference to sexual orientation was defined in the 1941 book Sex Variants "To go ‘straight’ is to cease homosexual practices and to indulge--usually to re-indulge--in heterosexuality." It didn't refer to people whose innate sexual orientation was to be attracted to a different gender than their own, it referred to "ex-gays," or gay people who had recloseted themselves. (Origin of Everything, around 2:56)
From there, "straight" evolved to mean non-queer (as we saw in the Transgender Warriors quote), and now it's pretty much synonymous with heterosexual, being attracted to a different gender/the other binary gender from your own.*
*this isn't a perfect definition ofc because no sexuality can be defined perfectly, but it's better than "opposite gender"
So, over time, straight has meant "ex-gay," recloseted gay, non-queer, and heterosexual (as we know it today), and heterosexual has meant degenerate attraction between women and men, bisexuality as we know it today, abnormal/perverted attraction to the opposite sex, normal sexuality, and finally, attraction to a different gender/other binary gender.
And with all those meanings, it's kind of ridiculous to insist transhets are heterosexual but not straight based on just one of the many ways each word has been used. I could just as easily say that transhets who identified as gay before transitioning are straight because straight has been used to mean "ex-gay," and cishets who have never identified as gay aren't straight. Or that cis people attracted exclusively to the opposite binary gender aren't heterosexual, because heterosexual has been used to mean attraction to two different genders.
All that aside, both "heterosexual" and "straight" came into use with cis as the assumed default, without making the distinction between gender identity and sexual orientation that we have today. Transhets have no obligation to adhere to the definitions of either of those terms that operate under the assumption that everyone is cis.
And again- saying that transhets aren't straight is misgendering us. That should be the only thing that matters, but since clearly it doesn't, maybe it'll matter that enforcing "normative (cis) sexuality" as a universal definition for straight is bullshit.

Hellooooo lovely, it’s me @tartquez ! So keen to hear your Maurice thoughts (I have not seen the film or read the book but can bewitched by the vibe) and also whether you think there’s a peccoluca (or anyone else) thread we can pull on !!!
ok so you see the thing with maurice is that it's not really a romance it's more of like. an exploration of homosexuality...? it's a bildungsroman... it starts with maurice at fourteen being confused by his own sexuality and not understanding it and then moves into him at cambridge -> his adult life. the romance(s) in it are really interesting bc it's like. ok so maurice meets clive at cambridge and they're very close and they discuss all these ancient greek writings about homosexuality (this is kind of forster staging an argument via his characters in the text) but clive is like. ok i'm just summarising here and not doing it well. they're kind of in a relationship but it's completely non-sexual this is clive's demand. essentially. and then clive has a crisis and breaks it off w maurice and marries a woman lol. and then maurice starts to feel worse and worse and starts going to a hypnotist to try and cure himself of homosexuality. LIKE this book is about. a lot. anyways. the other romance is with alec scudder who is clive's GAMEKEEPER... some drama occurs here but they do get a happy ending.
the thing abt maurice to meee is like u have to have 2 relationships if you're making an au of it. i DO agree that pecco/luca are really suited for the maurice/clive dynamic but you have to decide who is maurice (and gets a happy ending) and who is clive (kind of a dick </3) and then you have to pick a scudder ... i like luca/marc lol so i mean. i can go for that. but that raises a question abt vale ofc. Where is he... etc.
i think it's hard to map rosquez onto maurice bc of the age difference... i think. bear with me. a more interesting pairing to map onto maurice/alec is casey as maurice, dovi as alec... but then we have to ask who is clive? we can definitely say valentino even though we have to find an explanation for the age gap again lol. also i think casey is more suited to um. clive's anxious nature. but also casey WOULD go to a hypnotist to get #cured. so.
literally marc doesn't work as either clive or maurice because he's too confident. lol. alex doesn't work either because marc would accept him being gay without a second thought. and a driving factor of maurice is clive&maurice's respective families... strained relationsihips! maurice in particular is the only son in his family and his father has been dead for a long time so he's responsible for his mother and sisters and it's nottt a good relationship... i actually get annoyed often with the way the female characters in this novel are written lol but we don't need to talk about it

Naruto and Sasuke’s dynamic make me feel so warm.I hate how their dynamic has to be labelled as a ‘ship’ because it’s non-canon, because I see it so so so much more than a simple yaoi/bl/homosexual ship.Yaoi is more of a specific type of genre, same with shoujo but they’ve created a new category of a intertwined relationship.Naruto and Sasuke are just so emotionally attached and bonded, that sexual relations would be natural because of how intimate they are usually. They’re soulmates to me,platonic but romantic but not romantic at the same time..? I see them in every song, series, everything;when I say I HATE when people fetishise them like sexual objects, I really really mean it. They’ve conquered so much of my life that I’m no longer obsessed because they’re just a normal part of my routine,in 3 years I’ll be an adult and I’ll be heartbroken to see this feeling of happiness of studying them go, if it does. They’re so so so so special to me and I just wanted to share that I absolutely love dynamics like these, but ofc Naruto and Sasuke will always be my first love and hopefully it stays that way.

there are legitimate writers who enjoy writing korean characters. many of them want to tell actual korean or korean-american stories, aren't even androsexual, and aren't interested in smut at all. those people are hurt on both sides of this. // agree here. As someone who uses k-ent fcs, do I like smut every now and again? Ofc. But I also want to deep dive characters and expand their backstories. We’re not all weirdos. But this debate will never end and even the good ones are pushed into a corner. /// then you realize we’re not talking about you guys right? We’re talking about those weirdos who write exclusively homosexual gay Korean men and have the most weird crazy over-the-top ridiculous fantasy names and they are just a white man with a Korean face. They don’t pay attention to actual Korean culture, be it western Korean culture or bastardized even more so - the culture of the actual country itself which while similar to Korean culture in Koreans outside Korea is SO vastly different in so many ways. They make a mockery of the LGBTQ and Koreans. Once more, you’re still more worried about YOUR OWN INTERESTS “well I don’t write smut…” The issue isn’t even the smut for the most part - it’s the fact 95% of them don’t even try to semi-correctly represent the LGBTQ or Korean cultures. You’d rather continue doing what you want and refuse to listen to the Korean voices saying “Please stop ignoring my culture and only using Korean faces and making them white dudes with yellow face.” It’s tacky and classless. I said what I said. You two are part of the problem. It’s never you people playing Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese faces. They never play any other kind of Asian characters. They only play Koreans. Because it’s a fetish. You can non-sexually fetishize something.

Hi! Gay Man anon here!
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write your latest post! And I also wanted say that it’s SO TRUE. A few days ago, I was literally complaining to a friend about the way people love to invalidate homosexuality with their “sexuality is fluid” or “everyone is a little bi” discourse and how this was actually harming Lesbians and Gay Men (but especially Lesbians because there’s the extra-layer of misogyny added to it).
He kept reiterating that “It’s just online discourse, nobody is interested in hearing stuff like this in real life and Lesbians and Gays are happy as they are.” And I was just there like… No?? This type of stuff has a LOT of impact on reality, it’s not hazardous that conversion-therapy-obsessed people renamed it « sexual fluidity exploration through therapy ». It’s not hazardous that people react disproportionately and call you a bigot or a « lesbophobe » when you say that Lesbians don’t date or have sex with men. But he kept insisting that we should just ignore them. It upsets me so much. Every time we meet someone who holds this type of beliefs (mostly online, since we tend to be in the same spaces), I get angry and leave. And when I complain about this to him and explains to him that I cannot fricking stand homophobes and I don’t understand why this doesn’t upset him more (he’s Gay too), he just says “It’s okay to keep interacting with them even though they’re wrong” or “It’s fine as long as they’re not actively trying to harm anyone”. I mean, you do you, but I hate how homophobia is so normalized amongst « Queer » people online and in real life.
I fricking hate it. I cannot stand homophobes, no matter how “nice” they are or how “progressive” they seem. I wouldn’t want to interact or be friends with TERFS or transphobes in general, even if they’re like « trans women are men but I still respect them », so why should it be different when it comes to homophobes just because they use seemingly “woke” speech????? I thought maybe I was reaching too far and maybe I was overreacting to a problem that wasn’t that big, but I’m glad to see I wasn’t wrong. I’m really tired of people undermining this.
Hey!
You’re welcome! It’s so important to bring up this stuff.
Your friend either doesn’t have ANY lesbian friends in real life or he doesn’t care at all about lesbophobia and homophobia. How dare he says this stuff only happens online when conversion therapy existed? And it’s STILL a thing in some places.
You don’t even need to ask lesbians about their own experiences to know how people disrespect lesbians irl. A lot of non-lesbian women use the excuse they’re lesbian to try to reject men, and so many times they don’t take this as a rejection.
The funny thing is when you try calling someone like him a lesbophobe they get super offended as if they literally aren’t lesbophobic lol Ofc there’s a difference between being lesbophobic and doing lesbophobic things, the second one it’s not something conscious, but if you’re called out for your bigotry and you decide ignoring it, that’s when you show you truly are lesbophobic.
Supporting someone who’s prejudiced while you KNOW they’re prejudiced means you’re deep down prejudiced too.
So ironic how these homophobes love calling out terfs (and let’s be honest: a lot of the time they’re using this card only to silence another minority) and pretend they care about LGBTQ+ people when they don’t give a shit. They only pretend.
Unfortunately some people only about about fighting homophobia, transphobia (or any other prejudice) when THEY are directly affected by it. If they’re not, they pretend it’s not a big deal, they try to convince themselves that’s not a real problem.

You said you’re not side A, what side are you?
Tumblr media
Okay so, if i had to pick a side, then to me side B is the only one that makes sense. First off, if i understand it right, both sides A and side Y are incompatible with Catholic Church's teachings (CCC 2357-2359) so if i 100% agree with her (and i do), the only options left are B and X. Now, X to my understanding is incompatible with contemporary state of psychiatric knowledge, so side B is the only one left. But it also speaks the most to me personally and aligns with my beliefs. It is the golden middle after all.
So to go into more detail, i do think marriages should be between men and women and same-sex marriages shouldn't be allowed within the Church (civil marriages idc that much about) and i view homosexual acts as a grave sin - however! this extends only to s*xual acts. I really find no issue with gay people living together as siblings in Christ, kissing, being in a non-s*xual celibate relationship (provided that such a relationship does not lead people in it to sin), etc. I also think they should be able to adopt children, but then again i think everyone should be able to adopt children because any loving family is better than orphanage and family can be literally any group of people. I find no issue with people openly describing themselves as homosexual or bisexual or whatever else as a description of their orientation, i don't think however that one should identify with many of the lifestyle and worldview choices the LGBT+ communities advocate for that go against Christ's teachings (i have mentioned before that i myself had many issues with LGBT+ communities, even in exclusively aspec spaces; and so the term "queer Christian" just rubs me personally the wrong way but hey! just because it doesn't work for me doesn't mean it can't work for other people!). Ofc an important thing to add is that i do not hold non-Christians to the same standards i hold Christians to. I realize most of the arguments against homosexual acts stem from a strictly Christian or even Catholic worldview so if one doesn't subscribe to it, they shouldn't be judged harshly for not following it.
I think that's it, if you need any more clarifications i'll be happy to answer questions! God bless you dear anon and Happy New Jubilee Year!

Fictionkin really did contribute to the trans boom more than people usually give it credit
hahahhhaa yeah man i vaguely heard about.... that stuff..... so dumb....... dumbass kids being trans for tunglr blorbos............
[dabs in detrans kinnie]
Tumblr media
no but forreal... kinnie stuff was a HUGE part of me getting attached to the idea of me living as male. it was maladaptive daydreaming taken to the EXTREME and i was allowed to roleplay it online, which eventually became roleplaying irl, and then whenever i felt scared i wasn't trans i'd get reaffirmed right away that there's no way a cis woman would feel this way, and so i'd stick with it. i wanted to look like so many male blorbos in big part bc NO BLORBINAS LOOKED MASC ENOUGH!!! the masc blorbina count was unbearably low, i didn't see girls like myself anywhere. i didn't see myself be celebrated. not all trans-identified people are trans for those wrong reasons, but talking with other detrans folks... yeah, there's a huge link between fiction escapism and being detrans/post-trans. especially if you're already prone to dissociation and psychosis like i was hahahh... what d'you mean, i can reinvent myself?! what do you mean i can be those tumblr sexymen i see women fawn over?? i can be BETTER than what i am? i don't have to be a boring ass hairy ugly dyke? turns out though... hehe... sapphics fucking love boring ass hairy dykes. this is why homosexual culture & non-trans gnc culture needs to be more available to folks. we need a stronger sense of community and reconnect with our history. we also need to be wary of attaching ourselves too tightly to labels too quickly. it's 1000% okay to experiment, and fiction can be a way to explore yourself and all that. but be aware that suddenly calling yourself a different name, using different pronouns, making appearance changes with binding etc actually can induce dysphoria in yourself. it did with me!
get treatment for your non-trans symptoms first. go thru it like a checklist. go slow. have an actual questioning phase not just OMG I CAN BE A SUPER SWAG TRANS GUY/GIRL AND BE SO MUCH BETTER AND CUTER AND MORE RADICAL!!! and don't only talk to people who are visibly excited abt the prospect of you being trans. talk to level-headed folks who are trans-friendly but also nuanced, and will reaffirm that being gnc is okay too & that sometimes dysphoria really can be a temporary episode. it really can be healed in some cases, it was for me. it's good to go through options first, it doesn't mean you can't be trans in the end! if anything it'll just give you more resolve if you know you did your proper research. people rush so fucking much, man. it's not good for us. and kinnie shit can literally drive you insane. especially if you're prone to craziness like i am. be careful with that stuff... it can get into maladaptive daydreaming territory, and that's not actually all funsies. it can genuinely become debilitating and all-consuming. be safe kids 👍
oh, also, vaguely related but... hetero people can have funky experiences with gender nonconformity too! y'all can form really cool communities; the punk scene and hippie scene was always full of you guys and you proved that being gnc doesn't make you gay, which greatly benefits gay rights too. you don't need to be a normie cishet OR a trans/nonbinary person. there are in-betweens. ily gnc people! tomboys, femboys, metrosexuals, handsome girls, pretty boys, i love us so much and i WANT more gnc ppl in the world, het included. you can still have radical anti-patriarchal subcultures. ofc it's okay if you end up being trans, but don't just immerse yourself in it right away. you always have options as a gnc person and they're ALL awesome.
gnc people YOU ARE MY WHOLE ASS WORLD!!! 🧡🧡🧡

It's not about assembling a healthy relationship it's about what you think would be interesting to watch and boy when I tell you it would be interesting to watch Glam and Ches fail at homosexuality I mean that. Their gay divorce would have a bodycount. Lacho vibes. Disaster ensues.
That absolutely is a fair point, I can see what you mean by disaster, I feel like they both would be incredibly awkward towards each other and fail at trying to do basically romantic stuff lmao
What I meant was a bit more serious though
(TW for Dr*g mentioned and ab*$3 implied)
From what we've seen both are extremely mentally unstable, especially glam in what is shown from his side of the story, I deeply apologize to all chesglam enjoyers (that includes myself as well) but truth is that ches is ignorant, selfish, reckless, and distraction driven, while glam is manipulative, controlling, unpredictable with his emotions, anger issues, etc, both of them are horrible to others at times (I'm not sure who is worse considering I don't have all their 'moral crimes' on a list ofc) but to be brutally honest, they're both bad people, everyone in this show is almost, (with the exception of heavy and lif) but we love them all BECAUSE its realistic, that's apart of the appeal, but with those two and their personalities at play, along with their dynamic, while at surface level seems like a pure dream, if we imagine chesglam from a realistic point of view
its quite horrifying to actually think about
With ches's substance ab*se problems he'd be unattainable, swift with his actions, and as we've seen, forgetful and careless, (ofc most of these issues are merely due to the actual substances effecting his body but still) while glam is controlling of smaller and bigger aspects, it's admirable when it's on more casual things like schedules and meal plans but pin that over to ches and their relationship and you can see where the problems would start to settle in, yelling at him during relapses as ches throws up in the bathroom, and insulting him (again mostly canon) but it being almost all the time?? Not to mention how when he has an idea of plan he literally doesn't pay attention or care about anything else, plus the lack of understanding towards how addictions work and how it effects the brain chemistry in the process would seriously lead to some loud and incredibly stressful nights for ches, but ofc he'd probably be high during it or just knocked out completely, also the way when ches lost his temper glam just immediately smacked him?? And slapping him across the face, over an emotional outburst, (yes i understand ches was insulting Victoria but like.. he didn't even know her??) and I'd prefer not to think about what exactly Glam would do to him if he actually did something wrong that was more important than what he said, in theory its ofc ok to ship them, suffer all they've had a lot of cute moments together and their friendship was genuinely healthy and more valuable when they were younger, it's just in my opinion, the combination of one guy being incredibly controlling and guilt tripping those he cares about to get what he wants and another guy who is addicted to seriously harmful substances and is emotionally unstable due to his mothers lack of attention and sudden absence and therefore being vulnerable as a result, is very... Interesting yet... You know... Not desirable to me to see or watch
All non illegal ships are valid, ship whatever you want, I ship chesglam too because the idea is cute, I apologize for the rant it's just I've been thinking this for a long while since we saw the new episode snd got more insight into their characters, would love to hear your opinions though and thoughts, stay safe everyone xoxo~☆

I've decided to list out all my gender and sexuality headcanon for bsd characters 1. Cause I do this for every fandom im in for fun anyways and 2. So people know my interpretation of these characters for when I draw them. This will be full of me projecting cause I can :3
ADA
Dazai- an absolute bisexual disaster, the worst. Honestly his gender is probably unlabeled, doesn't really give a shit and doesn't have a connection to any gender, but is used to being called a guy so that's what he goes with: He/it
Kunikida- aroacespec, probably has a specific microlabel cause I see him as someone who likes having labels for himself. A queer man, enough said. Cis /non derogatory: He/him. Honestly I see him as that meme "I'm probably gay but I have a job rn so idc" so he's closeted even to himself for a while
Atsushi- a bisexual mess, with a splash of religious trauma and repression. I don't really have any specific gender headcanons for him, and honestly he probably doesn't know either soo: he/him
Kyouka- hear me out, a lesbian. Her 'crush' on Atsushi is absolutely comphet because he was the one who saved her so ofc she's gonna think she has to like him in that way, that's how it's supposed to go (oh honey you have a huge storm coming). Also a trans girl, based off the fact the author she's based off of is a dude: She/her
Yosano- honestly don't have any specific headcanons for her, definitely queer in some sort of way, and has preference for women no matter what. Another cissy: She/her
Tanizaki J.- trans trans trans trans *cough* excuse me, he's a trans man. Another Bisexual to the mix (the ADA is just full of them): He/they
Naomi- Pansexual, don't know, just feels right, and cis: She/her
Ranpo- my precious shithead, a gay trans man right there, I'll tell you what. Also arospec cause I can: He/him
Kenji- don't have specifics for him either, honestly probably unlabeled both for gender and sexuality, just goes with what feels natural and doesn't think too hard on it: doesn't correct anyone on any pronouns
Fukuzawa- gay gay gay gay, a gay cis man: He/him
PORT MAFIA
Chuuya- gay gay homosexual gay, arospec cause we love projection in this household. A trans man: He/him
Ryuunosuke- Arospec gay cause we predictable, transmasc, doesn't have a strong connection to gender but feels most comfortable being referred to as a man and masculine terms: They/he (people they know personally can refer to him with they/them but prefers anyone else to refer with he/him)
Gin- again, hear me out: transmasc nonbinary, has top surgery but doesn't take testosterone. Still dresses femininely from time to time but in a "wanna be pretty like a boy" kinda way. They're queer/unlabeled: he/they/she (she/her is exclusive to people they are close to)
Tachihara- trans trans trans, the port mafia is just full of trans bitches. A bisexual mess, joining the PM was his gay awakening: He/him
Higuchi- questioning galore over here, honestly just attracted to masculinity, girly is cis: She/her
Kouyou- surprise, I don't headcanon her as a lesbian, she's definitely gay, but I don't view her as a lesbian, she just calls herself gay as an umbrella term. Trans woman: She/her
Hirotsu- a gay man, enough said, Cis: He/him
Kajii- nonbinary and queer, honestly doesn't care about his own gender or sexuality: He/they/it
Q- my babyyy, unlabeled all around, they're nonbinary cause I said so: They/it
Mori- hmmm aroacespec based off the fact that the author he's based off of was most likely asexual. Queer and cis: He/him
DOA (spoilers for Fyodors ability)
Sigma- my babygirl, the reason I started reading bsd in the first place, transmasc nonbinary, presents both masculine and femininely but prefers to be referred to with masculine terms and seen as a man by people who don't know them personally, arospec cause I'm aro and I can do what I want, uses gay as an umbrella term:
They/them
Nikolai- I don't know whats going on with him but neither do they, unlabeled both sexuality and gender wise, labels are restrictive: doesn't correct any pronouns, just lets people refer to him as anything
Fyodor- *slaps him* you can stuff so much religious trauma in this one. There's so much gender fuckery here, I have a hc that whenever he takes over a body, the sex of that body remains, so I like thinking that he just goes by the sex of the body he is currently in cause they don't have any real connection to a gender. Unlabeled sexuality cause being gay is a sin /j, nah probably just doesn't care enough to think about it for too long: doesn't correct pronouns but presents as his current sex
Bram- cryptid. Honestly don't have any strong hc's for him, so let's say queer and leave it there: he/him
Fukuchi- sorry I'm a basic bitch, I don't give a shit about this man, but look me in the eyes and tell me he ain't gay asf: he/him
HUNTING DOGS
Jouno- what a surprise, another gay man, and another surprise, he's trans too: He/they
Tecchou- queer, I don't think he cares too much about labels, he just likes who he likes, cis: He/him
Teruko- another case of comphet believing that you're in love with the person who saved you, so lesbian, and cis: She/her
MISC.
Lucy- baby bi bi bi, probably acespec, and a trans girl: She/they
Poe- look at that man, he's absolutely gay. Arospec. Honestly probably nonbinary too: He/they
Mushitarou- an absolute disaster of a man, gay gay gay. And who could guess? Also trans: He/him
Ango- true definition of "I'm probably gay but I have a job rn so idc" so unlabeled sexuality wise, and a trans man: He/him
Oda- Gay cis man, enough said lol: He/him

So I doubt very many people reading this blog can read the image, so just what it says (to say nothing of who it’s from and sent to) are questions. But for the sake of argument, let’s say it’s exactly as claimed here. The only way such blackmail and retaliation would be effective was if homosexuality was rather frowned upon in certain places. It would still be pretty damn nasty a thing to do, ofc. Military intelligence services, intelligence services in general get up to some awful shit wherever they operate.
As for the rest? To say that ‘they banned LGBTQ+ marriage in Israel’ is misleading at best. Obviously there’s still work to do, but:
1988, same sex sexual activity legalized (laws against not enforced since 1960s). Recognizes same sex marriages performed elsewhere-doesn’t have civil non-religious marriage. Sexual orientation discrimination, illegal since 1992. Same sex couple adoption, legal since 2008. LGBTQ+ are allowed to openly serve in the military.
So I guess when you say that ‘IOF is as anti-LGBTQ+ as they are anti-Palestinian’, you’re claiming they’re rather tolerant of Palestinians. An interesting take!

the thing about people not understanding that queer themes have been evident in the horror genre since its very invention and about them assuming that queerness being so prevalent in horror is a new phenomenon, that it only happened recently, is that I don't think a lot of them don't understand that like. explicit queerness actually being portrayed onscreen is still a very recent thing. and when we're talking about queer themes in horror we're talking about subtext mainly and even then it's not the subtext you're used to it's not the "haha men stabbing each other is a metaphor for penetration" kinda deal it's like. u genuinely have to dig for it. and that's for the more positive portrayals, ofc there's easy to spot depictions of queerness in horror, and here I'm thinking about the original carmilla, but those are often done as a cautionary way. like oh hey look how scary and mean the homosexuals are stay away from them! be careful! don't let them tempt u and turn u evil!! and that of course is a big part of why queerness is still so prevalent in horror, bc for a lot of queer people for a very long time the depictions of themselves that they would most often see in popular media was of that nature. and like of course you're gonna latch onto that and make your own thing out of it bc u deserve to. on a bigger scale, I think, it's also always been a little easier to put queerness into horror and get away with it than it is with anything else, bc horror has largely been seen for a very long time as non-intellectual and lazy and a cheap way to break into storytelling. so if people aren't paying attention and the genre is for "freaks" to begin with then hey u might as well sprinkle a bit of homoeroticism in there somewhere.
anyway this is all to say that if u truly need a big blazing neon sign that says "there's gay things in here" to understand that there are queer themes in horror, maybe u should try paying attention while you're watching/reading/listening to horror. bc it has literally always been there I am not joking
