sandy jareau: one daughter who never saw 17 and the other…
jj: the other what, mom? the other what?
this scene haunts me because maybe if rosaline didn’t die, maybe if jj hadn’t become her parents’ only hope, maybe if she suddenly didn’t have the responsability to be the good daughter, she would have let herself have the feelings she had towards women. she wouldn’t have had to lock herself in a conventional home life to show that her family could still be normal. she was forced to grow up so quickly and to take on a role, to conform to a conventional ideal before she was able to explore who she really was.
and jj’s story is filled with bits and pieces of her experience with comphet since practically the beginning of the show, and partly i’m thankful for that bc that type of experience is relevant and important to portray, but mostly i’m mad because they never came clean about what it was about, always pretending these lines of dialogue were about something else. yes they’re the showrunners and the writers, yes they decide what they write about, but look me in the eyes and tell me her conversation with hotch in 3x17 about how the unsub seeked a freedom in his gay victims he wished he had was about anything other than her own gayness (come on, it being about her secret relationship with a white cop? where’s the threat in it being exposed? be for real). tell me the question from will that should have followed “you wanna see another guy?” shouldn’t have been “you wanna see a woman?”.
jj is not straight, and it’s part of the show, it’s right there. but it should have been asserted, because her story is important and is the reality of many people.

Jennifer "JJ" Jareau and Ros part one.
Butch Lesbian HCs/AU Background
Pre-Little Bama Girl
Tumblr media
ROSLYN KEPT JJ ON A VERY SHORT STRING. From the moment JJ was brought home, Ros was obsessed with her. Maybe even before that, but definitely after. She would always just marvel at her, stare with the stars shining in her eyes, smile never-ending because she could not believe that babies were actually as small as they made the dolls. Sure, JJ cried a lot. I mean, a lot, but she didn't cry when Roslyn gave her a finger to hold, and that made Roslyn feel special. When JJ was born, Roslyn threw away all her baby dolls because JJ was just so much better.
As soon as she was allowed to hold her, oh, Roslyn never put her down. Not that she was often asked to but even when she was, JJ would have to be pried from her big sister's hands. She didn't understand why, but her mom never seemed to want to deal with JJ all that much. So Roslyn learned how to do everything. It was easy; learning proper head support, learning to change a diaper. Learning to feed her. Learning to burp her. It really wasn't that different from a baby doll, just so much better because JJ actually ate food and actually burped and peed and pooped, and she actually responded to Ros' touch or voice. She got so good so fast that their mom quickly went from hovering over her to just being in the room and glancing over here and there. Not that Roslyn noticed too much either way.
When she was with JJ, JJ was the only thing in the world that mattered.
When Roslyn taught JJ how to walk, that was when the fun really started. JJ followed Ros everywhere, and Ros loved it. Even if she didn't like all the things Ros liked, she liked sharing her space, and that was enough. She didn't even mind that JJ wasn't like other girls and that she didn't like when Ros tried to put make up on her or bows or jewelry. No, JJ liked to walk around shirtless, in a mere diaper and fuck things up. JJ liked to play with Ros' "boyfriends" trucks and GI Joes and when Ros would play house with said "boyfriends", she went back and forth between pretending JJ was their daughter or son because JJ felt more like a little brother sometimes, and Ros thought that was so cool. If JJ was a little brother and a little sister all at once then her parents didn't have to have any more kids ever because she could only share her things with one person, and JJ was already here.
Ros watched Reading Rainbow with JJ and Lola Falana tapes and MTV. She taught her how to dance and how to kick a soccer ball. And it worked out perfect because even if JJ didn't like all the same things, she still liked to be wherever Ros was, and Ros loved to keep her on her hip.
JJ was never just Ros' little sister; she was her baby.

Jareau-Prentiss : Case Histories
This is my first 'case' in my series of Jemily one shots and multi-chapter instalments. They are all connected but won't be in any order. They will be all about the relationship between Emily Prentiss and Jennifer Jareau and the life they create together. It was span years of time. Some may follow loosely to some canon events but it should all become clear as you read and any changes I hope to explain in my writing as it comes up.
They will vary wildly in length and rating. Some will be short, some like this one multiple long chapters, some two shots and so on. Some will be rated T and some will go all the way to E. Some will contain smut, some will be fluff, some angst, some a mix of some or all of the above.
This is the first one I am posting
What happens when JJ decides on the 25th anniversary of her older sister's death that she will take Emily, her wife and their two young daughters to spend the long weekend with JJ's mother, Sandy. Will it help JJ's mother deal with her grief? Can a strained relationship between JJ and her mother be healed with the help of JJ's daughters presence. What will happen when before the anniversary date actually hits, JJ and Emily get called away on a case? Is leaving their young daughters with Sandy a smart move or could tragedy be lurking around the corner yet again?
The Case Of : Tragedy Strikes To The Day
Chapter 1 : Homecoming
Chapter 2 : Duty Calls
Chapter 3 : Trust Instincts
Chapter 4 : Finding Strength
Chapter 5 : It Comes In Waves

FIC BOOSTING
While in New Orleans, having just wrapped up a case and unwinding with her team, Jennifer “JJ” Jareau sets sights on a young woman that she finds herself completely enthralled by. Seeking her out whilst hoping for a hook up, JJ gets lucky, but soon realizes that the connection between them is so much stronger than that of a one night stand.
Or, Jennifer Jareau meets her spouse during the Jones case but it isn't Detective LaMontagne.

Watching criminal minds is a wild experience, because one minute you’re interested in the serial killer stories and then the next minute you’re a whore who has a gun kink

Still can’t get over the fact that Emily put her whole Prentussy into suppressing her feelings for JJ for nearly two decades just for Miss Jennifer ‘it gives me you’ Jareau to undo it all in 4 words. I am scratching and clawing at my enclosure, PLEASE let Jemily be canon.

Jennifer "JJ" Jareau and Boys
Butch Lesbian HCs/AU Background
Pre-Little Bama Girl
Tumblr media
JJ NEVER LIKED BOYS. When she was little, she didn't like the way they looked. She didn't like the way that they smelled. She didn't like their jokes. She didn't like the way they would pull her hair or push her down or pinch her or call her names. Even aside from those the things she didn't like, even as a little girl, she never found them interesting. She didn't even notice little boys in her class until they bothered her enough that she had no choice but to notice things she didn't like. She didn't really notice them until her hair got pulled, until she got poked with pencils, until she had crayons, sand and God knows what else thrown at her. She didn't notice them until she was randomly being shoved to the ground, until she was randomly pinched, until she was randomly called some demeaning name.
JJ was a fighter. If she got her hair pulled, she pulled their hair right back. If she got pushed down, she got up, dusted herself off and pushed them right back. If someone threw something at her, she'd throw it right back.
And every time, she would think how she didn't like boys. Every time she would think about how girls were so much less annoying. Girls were nice. They drew each other pretty pictures. They played fun games together. Girls were interesting.
JJ can't tell you who said it her first, that boys were only mean like that when they wanted a girl to be their girlfriend, but it changed everything for her.
(She didn't understand the logical, either)(She pulled out chairs for girls she liked, gave them snacks out of her lunchbox, and shared her toys. She let them win in all their games. She held their hands at nap time.)(But she didn't hit them. She didn't pull their hair. She didn't push them down. She never called them mean names)(It made no sense that little boys would do those things when they liked girls)(It made even less sense that they were allowed to.)
The mention of the boys wanting her to be their girlfriend meant no more was she just doing what was done unto her. Her first fight, her first real right, happened when a little boy yanked her ponytail at recess and called her stupid. She wasn't just annoyed now. As she turned around, the only thought in her mind was how much she didn't want to be his girlfriend. So, she didn't just pull his rat-tail. As she punched him, once, twice, six times and while she was doing it, all she could think about was how she never wanted him to want her to be his girlfriend.
She kept fighting after that. I mean, really fighting. She never stopped getting attention from boys, and she was determined to stop being liked.
She got in so much trouble for it. Oftentimes more trouble than her male counterparts. Her teachers, her mother especially would tell her that she should be nicer. That the boys didn't mean anything by their behavior, that they just liked her and she wasn't being fair to them. Her mother would tell her to be gracious. She would tell her that she should think of herself as so lucky that so many boys think she's pretty. Her mother would say that she was too pretty, anyway, to fight. Fighting wasn't ladylike. Fighting would ruin her pretty little face before got to properly grow unto her. Her mother would tell her that she would never find a husband when she grew up, if she kept fighting like that, if she wasn't gracious or nice enough, if she ruined her pretty little face.
JJ started to fight more.
