You know, the more I think about it, the funnier I find the concept of Monkey D. Luffy /& Boa Hancock (especially paired with Aro-Ace spectrum Luffy and Aro-Ace spectrum Hancock) just for what it must look like from an outsider's POV.

For the record, personally, my favorite Luffy ship is Zoro/Luffy - also with Aro-Ace spectrum Luffy, that's basically non-negotiable for me, I don't care whether he's sex-favorable or sex-repulsed, but he's definitely ace. It is so funny to me to think about Luffy's incredible pull with aro-ace spectrum folks. People who once thought "sucks for you fuckers obsessed with sex and/or romance, I'm built different" (Roronoa Zoro, Koby, Trafalgar Law, Boa Hancock, Bartolomeo, etc.) find themselves fascinated by this little rubber man, who regularly declares war on the government and can swallow a roast chicken whole. Some of them are happier about this than others. Some of them WISH they just wanted to fuck or marry him, that would make more sense than this shit.

But, okay, back to Luffy and Hancock (as a friendship or queerplatonic situationship, whatever, doesn't matter). Like, let's pretend this is some kind of Modern College AU (Luffy is probably not IN college, tbh, he's just there to hang out with his friends and for any food anyone makes the mistake of leaving out). You are on your way to class and you see this woman walking down the street and she is - hands down - the Most Beautiful Woman In The World.

Super tall, with incredibly long, muscular legs in shockingly high red heels, a short skirt, artful cleavage, a waterfall of sleek black hair, beautiful face, striking makeup, gorgeous jewelry. Looks too old to be an undergrad student. She looks like if a martial artist became a supermodel. Walks like that too. The phrase "please step on me" comes to mind, but not to the lips, because that's sexual harassment, and also this woman looks like she could stab you through the heart with a kick and her shoe heel, killing you instantly.

She sees someone and her entire face lights up. She runs forward (how is she running in those shoes) squealing in excitement and embraces this guy you didn't even notice before, shouting about how much she missed him, and kisses him on the lips. He is... uh... three-quarters of her height at the tallest. A real Mr. Short King.

Wow, he has a babyface. And a scar on his cheek and on his chest, which you can see because he's wearing an open button-up, in eye-searing rainbow colors and decorated with monkeys, and jorts with fur at the cuffs. And mismatched flip-flops on the wrong feet. And a straw hat on a string around his neck. It looks like he hasn't brushed his hair today. It is impossible to judge his looks because his outfit is too distracting. Now the Most Beautiful Woman in the World is blushing bright pink as she clasps one of his hands in both of hers. Mr. Short King is using his other hand to pick his nose as she talks.

They walk hand in hand together over to where an incredibly expensive-looking bright red car is parked. Mr. Short King opens the driver's door for the Most Beautiful Woman and she apparently nearly swoons at this chivalry. She climbs into the driver's seat and he gets into the passenger's side (Luffy cannot legally drive and also cannot actually drive). They drive off together. What the fuck kind of Roger-and-Jessica-Rabbit-ass Sugar Mama relationship did you just witness?

Boa Hancock keeps a photograph of Luffy as her phone background and also on her desk at work. Everyone is always like, "Is that your... son?" And Hancock is like, "No, that's my number one choice of future fiancé! Isn't he sooooo handsome?" And people can only be like, "...Okay, but why are there police lights in the background? And something is on fire? It kind of looks like he's in the process of being arrested..." And Hancock responds dreamily, "They didn't catch him! He climbed into my exercise duffel bag and I carried him out."

Today I went to Waffle House.

And I’ve been being a bit more confident than normal, by wearing my tank top. (ITS HOT)

Well the waitress took mom and dad’s order. Then turned to me with a grin? Like she was being nice before but this seemed different? Maybe I was just reading into that. I have no idea.

The way they’d spin is probably that Marinette is being selfish wanting to live in her “own little world” and she’s not thinking about everyone else.

-wonder what all carson knows about the hudsons? + that look on his face when he hangs up... wonder if he was just lying to her about knowing anything or just ashamed at having to admit bad things hes done for them

OMG I CAN’T TELL YOU THE CONTEXT OF HOW THIS CROSSED MY MIND BUT:

MMA athlete falls for professional Ballet dancer AU.

Cass is the ballet dancer, Steph is the MMA fighter.

Steph’s athlete name is “Spoiler” because she is famous for knocking out people quickly, “spoiling” the fight by ending it too early.

In every other aspect, however, she’s a showgirl, smiling, dancing and playfighting before she climbs on the ring. A lot of competitors think she’s annoying because of that, but she’s never disrespectful, always bowing to her competitors before and after the fight, no matter the result. She gathers a lot of fans quickly because of her charm.

Cass is a very disciplined dancer. Very serious about her art, practicing all the time.

Adopted by the Wayne family, she had a tough past and has selective mutism. She can sometimes talk to Bruce, Dick, Alfred, Tim, and Babs if she feels comfortable. Other than that, she communicates with sign language.

She is in Gotham’s ballet company. (Maybe she dreams about going abroad, maybe she doesn’t, depends on what’s the main point of the fic really) She seems intimidating to anyone who doesn’t talk to her, but the few dancers that made an effort to know her quickly realized that she’s really sweet and helpful, always happy to help others improve their dance skills

Steph is dragged to a ballet presentation by her friends, Tim and Jason, because their sister is going to be performing and they are endlessly proud of her. It’s an original play from Gotham’s ballet academy, and she thinks she’ll be bored out of her mind, but when the presentations starts and the character called “Black Bat” comes on the stage, she has her eyes glued on the dancer, and when she steps out of the stage she keeps expecting her return.

Tim notices this, of course. He’s smart and he’s known this girl for some time now. He also knows that Steph has never met Cass and can’t wait to see her reaction when she finds out the dancer she’s already head over heels for is his sister.

Of course, Tim insists she meets Cass after the show, and she chokes on her spit when she sees Cass for the first time, in her Black Bat outfit.

She tries to be confident, but she’s a bit of a gay mess tm.

Cass finds her odly endearing.

Steph, upon learning that Cass uses ASL to communicate begs Tim for lessons.

She doesn’t even tries to hide her crush from him, she knows she won’t be able to.

She dedicates herself so much to the lessons that she picks it up surprisingly quickly.

Cass is surprised with how quickly she’s able to have full conversations with her in ASL, even if she has to take it slow and sometimes needs to pause and say things out loud that she still can’t quite translate.

All through this, Steph takes Cass to all kinds of amazing places that Bruce doesn’t let her go to in Gotham, because he’s afraid something bad will happen to her. Steph isn’t afraid of those places, because she grew up in worse ones, and now she can activey protect herself and Cass, so she takes her behind his back.

Steph teaches Cass how to throw punches and some more basic self-defence moves, and she’s too great at it. Cass tries to teach Steph some basic ballet moves, but she’s a complete disaster when it comes to dance, her body too stiff and used to the short and calculated jiu-jitsu moves, or the thightness and rapid moves from boxing.

Cass finds her attempts adorable.

It doesn’t take long for Steph to figure out that Cass can read her body language. She doesn’t think that even Cass fully knows what she’s doing, she just knows that she can always tell how everyone is feeling. Steph spends some time trying to find out why does she have such a skill, and doesn’t realize something very important.

A few days later she wakes up in the middle of the night when the realization hits her

“OH FUCK, SHE KNOWS”

She freaks out about it with Tim, who is just... “Why don’t you confess then?” - “NO I CANT WHAT IF SHE DOESNT LIKE ME” - “If she didn’t like you then she wouldn’t go on dates with you” - “Those weren’t dates?”  “They were to her.” - “Oh. OH.”

I don’t even ship those two all that much tbh, I even like to headcannon Cass as aro/ace (Although this would work super well for ace Cass too, I guess?) But they are the pairing that fits this the most in my mind. (Although Dickbabs could work too, or even Robinstar (Dick is the ballet dancer, ofc), and maybe even TimKon? Hmmm, since I haven’t written them a lot yet (shame on me for that though, I need to get that YGO out of my system to return to ToL my love), I gotta think about that for a sec… 

Not aiming to be a profound and complete character analysis, just things I’d keep in mind/would try to focus on to get the character voice right.

Ingrith:

1) Idealistic, but pragmatic. Later, mostly just pragmatic, but despite her disillusionment with the world, and most importantly, herself, she recovers enough eventually to still stand in for what she believes is right. And has a no longer war glorifying opinion on what is right.

2) Might be mistaken as your typical brawly Nord at first and even second glance when younger, but was always pretty sharp.

3) Not prissy at all. Physical. Naturally charismatic, self-reliant and a bit callous even. Always had a bit of a tough love approach as a mother and it got worse, due to, well, everything. 

4) Radiating confidence, back when she still felt like she could rely on herself and that there was nothing that could stop her. 

5) Used to be more cheeky and teasing, now more no-nonsense. Always direct, straight-forward, but later more closed-up.

Lodr:

1) Sophisticated, and cultivating that aesthetic and image. Prefers very much not to get her hands dirty, had to do it when she was younger and takes pride in not ever having to do that again.

2) Definitely a bit vain, and takes herself so very seriously.

3) Not straight-forward at all, always thinks about her words and is very aware of her image. Will rather not open up and play it safe so she won’t make a fool out of herself. After her family fell apart, she is this big enigma that no one gets to know, and she almost believes that this is exactly how she wants it.

4) Deliberately uses people for personal gain, and the more she lost any faith in anything besides her ability to influence politics, the more she convinces herself she is entirely self-reliant and superficial relationships is all she needs, and they are mainly there for her to have more irons in the fire. She gets her fun from more casual, strictly about pleasure encounters.

5) Never was a big idealist, and always more of a realist, and opportunistic. Looks out for her own.

Seto: Again, not a character analysis, but more of the central things I want to get across while writing and that are integral to getting his PoV/character voice right.

1) Childish as fuck, like an exceptionally angry, maladjusted 8-years-old. He just as gloating, overdramatic, spiteful, emotionally intense and entitled, has zero chill, doesn’t listen to anyone out of principle and has little social competence and control over/understanding of his emotions. His social/relationship “skills” are either him being creepily, unhealthily obsessive or taking his baby brother for granted & being super neglectful. His response to any emotion that is not card game ecstasy or pure anger is basically ???? That also means he’s completely self-centered, meaning he only relates to/sympathizes with anyone when they remind him of himself.  

2) His PoV is super limited, as literally everything in his head revolves about his own wants and his hurt pride and whatnot, and everything is processed through the lense of his warped world view (winner-loser, no weakness, yaddayadda). Which also means he can infer little about other character’s thoughts and intentions, not only because he rarely cares to do so, but also because he’ll most likely be wrong. Everything outside of his little world of a rich card game obsessed duelist CEO teen is p much alien to him, and that makes him so inherently ridiculous and extra. It’s fun to work with that and to highlight how self-absorbed and how out of touch Seto is with everyone else’s reality without Seto himself ever realizing that~  The fun part about that is ofc that Seto is so up his own ass he is completely unaware of any hilarious irony he provides, which is my one goal when it comes to writing him (aside from wrecking him and rendering him vulnerable) - let him unintentionally make a parody out of himself at all times. 

3) Seto is pure 100% distilled issues & denial. What he thinks he wants is basically never what he needs, and what he says is mostly bullshit. Like, 99% of the time, he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about when it comes to himself or others, but he’s 110% convinced he does. (I did the numbers on this, trust me!) While he thrives on success and power trips, what he actually needs is someone fucking showing him his limits, and he’s pretty desperate for something he can’t quite grasp and won’t ever consciously accept. Not too deep down though, he just really physically craves getting his ass kicked. Making these things Seto barely ever acknowledges or understands about himself evident to the reader at least is what I mostly focus on :>

4) Vulnerable, raw and desperate Seto is love. Self-destructive Seto is life. And Seto’s behavior is self-destructive 24/7, since he combines delusions of grandeur with zero love for himself, tries to earn/measure his self-worth through success, is unrelenting on himself, and in many ways utterly unable to live a healthy life and to take care of himself. Tthat he’s living in a physical body that has inconvenient bothersome needs and limitations has to be ignored as much as it can be ignored, and he hasn’t coped in a healthy way with any of his issues ever in his life.

4) Ace&aro, but turned on by a lot of questionable shit. As in, dragons. And card games. As in, power trips. As in, getting utterly wrecked.

Combine both him being a sad, miserable lonely issue-ridden self-destructive teenager with him being a twisted, creepy, obsessive, jealous, selfish, controlling, power hungry, dangerous, vengeful dickbag, to balance his pitiful and ridiculous ways with his douchebaggery so he is both tragic and very deserving of the things I throw at him. ….Profit!
