I got a delayed injection site reaction today and I'm not worried about it, but it did make me wonder "how do these happen?"
Like, is some of the medicine/carrier still in there and not spread to other parts of the body? Or did the reaction start happening 4 days ago when the medicine was injected, the medicine/carrier is gone now but finally the reaction has hit a level where it's noticeable? Where is the textbook that will explain these things to me?

excuse me but why am I now blushing from imagining con o’neill carefully injecting testosterone into my arm. what is this mental image that you have now created. what have you done to me.
akndkfgn if it helps i nearly noted how he'd be even better to do it during a thigh or stomach site inj week, but as soon as i imagined the thigh one i had to set my phone down and blush and have a Moment over it
lately I skip to Izzy scenes in OFMD and play those as i do the whole process myself but that is not the same as the idea of Con gently talking me through the actual inj (I love T but why is it so slow to inject 😭), hand on my back, telling me I'm doing so well for him by staying still and being patient aaaaand I'm blushing again 😅

PSA FOR TESTOSTERONE USERS!!
if you’re getting a lump/itchiness at the injection site, TELL YOUR DOCTOR!! you could be the 1 in 20 people who’s allergic to the most widely used formula of testosterone.
how do i know this? turns out i’m 1 in 20 people! (the doctor gets very disappointed in you when you describe an allergic reaction as “probably normal, right?”)
there are other formulas out there! you don’t have to be itchy! who knew! (clearly not me)
EDIT: basically, tell your doctor ALL of your symptoms. even if they seem normal. you never know.

"Whenever a minor inconvince happens, I just cease to function." Uh, yeah, my doctor and I think I developed an allergy to my essential, life saving, medication. So instead of running around, doing a bunch of tests, and then ultimately being switched back to my only "real" option, which was a med I went off because it didn't work- I just didn't do anything. Just stopped taking the med, and kept going on, sleeping, crashing, burning, flaring, not functioning, to a point my doctor called me to ask if I'm okay and I didn't want to respond, so I just forgot all day and now it's the weekend and I feel like a jerk for not saying anything.

Injectable Testosterone Note
Hey Uh FYI---
If you're on injectable testosterone and your injection site *itches* and stays swollen like a bug bite for several days after you do your shot?
That can be a sign that you either have an allergy to the carrier oil in your serum, or may not be injecting properly.
Either way, please talk to your care team about it!
If the itching spreads to random parts of your body, then it is very likely an allergy.
Testosterone serums are made with three different carrier oils depending on the type: Cottonseed, Sesame Seed, or Grapeseed oil.
Cottonseed is the most common carrier oil and the one most likely to trigger an allergic reaction.
Good news is, you can switch your serum! If you're allergic to one, ask your doctor to switch you to another one!
Seriously, I itched like a flea bitten beast the first few months on T and then switched my serum and the problem resolved!

btw after 1 year on T it's become alarmingly aware to me that lots of ppl don't know u can have an allergic reaction to HRT injections. Testosterone cypionate is formulated with cottonseed oil and its not exactly uncommon to be allergic to that! there are other formulations (I personally use testosterone enanthate) and if none of them work for u there are other way to take testosterone. if u are having big itchy welts at ur injection sites PLS talk to ur doctor ab switching ur formulation
