May you bliss us with your angst ninja headcanons?

mainly kai pls

Sorry for the delay. You asked mostly for Kai's so I delivered. If anyone wants more hcs about the others I can work on it some time in the future (I also have more of Kai).

Now the hcs:

• All the ninja have PTSD from everything they’ve been through

• And abandonment issues

• Cole has an eating disorder and eats when he’s stressed, this is one of the reasons he is very insecure of his weight. People online poke at him for it

• Jay's terrified of losing his loved ones again because of him. That is another reason why he went absolutely crazy post Seabound, as he thinks it was his fault Nya had to resort to sacrificing herself

• He used to be bullied for living in a junkyard before becoming a ninja and that's why he was ashamed of it

• Zane always shoves down everything wrong that happens to him (e.g being the Ice Emperor for way too long to be ok about it) because he puts the team and their needs first.

• Nya has nightmares from the time she died in skybound but doesn't tell anyone.

• She had to keep her work and love life secret from her brother for fear that he would shut her down to protect her. Her fear persisted well into s1 and that's why she felt she had to hide Samurai X even from Kai

• Lloyd still admires his uncle despite his obsession with the green ninja (and all the neglect that came with it) because he's the only relative that actually took him in

• All of the ninja have at some point hidden an injury at least once. But Kai and Nya are the ones that do it more often (Nya specially when she was samurai X), and know how to treat mild wounds because of it.

• Kai and Nya do physical activities when they’re stressed or have emotions they don’t want to process. They can do their thing like Kai working in the forge and Nya doing mechanics but they usually train, however they can go on for hours (Kai has passed out a few times)

• Kai and Zane have a very poor sense of self. Zane’s comes from him not valuing his life and thinking he’s expendable since he can be rebuilt, ignoring all the trauma that comes from getting severely hurt or “dying”. Kai has problems seeing his worth as a human being because he’s never lived for himself; everything he does is for someone else and so he thinks his value resides in what he can do for other people.

• Kai is terrified of the idea of being alone, it’s his worst fear.

• He has THE WORST coping mechanisms and Zane is confused on how his body was able to go through all of them (Alcoholism, illegal fights, smoking…)

• Kai is an insomniac, he barely sleeps most nights and instead just waits until he passes out (He has very deep eyebags because of it but hides them with make up, covering his freckles too). He sometimes bumps into some other ninja at night since they all have fucked up sleep schedules.

• Lloyd also has a lot of problems sleeping because of nightmares and goes to Kai or Nya’s room where he feels safer (mostly into Kai’s). Sometimes they stay up at night chilling or they try to sleep. In those cases the nights with Lloyd are the ones where Kai sleeps the most because he feels safer too.

• Kai has chronic depression because of his fucked up childhood

• Lloyd thought he had depression too for a while but it turned out to be autistic burnout because of the stress of being the green ninja. But he can’t properly rest or heal from the burnout so he’s exhausted most of the time.

• When he’s stressed Kai forgets to eat and can go days with very little food because he’s used to it from being poor in his childhood.

• Genuinely forgot what it feels like to be a kid and have no responsibilities so it’s his personal mission to not let that happen to Lloyd. Kai would be devastated if Lloyd ended up like him.

• Kai sometimes feels insecure about his face scars and contemplates hiding them with make up.

• Kai’s touch starved but terrified of letting people in.

• He hides his negative emotions as anger and when the others try to reach out to him he pushes them away by getting angry at them until it's mutual and they leave him alone.

• Never told the others about what he did after Zane’s “death”. He fixed himself up, alone.

Kai Azer had always been a light sleeper but it’d gotten worse since Avena was born, he was always alert, always on edge, never too relaxed in fear she might need protection. His insomniac tendencies had also progressed a lot more than he intended them to. So he often found himself envious of his wife who could sleep like the dead. This particular night Kai was wide awake and sat up in his shared bed. Paedyn was in her deep coma-like sleep, snoring soundly. Kai couldn’t help but let out a light chuckle at his wife as he silently stroked her silver hair, softly playing with a few strands. He had a million and one things on his mind, none of which were actually sleeping.

Cutting him out of every single thought was a sound that smashed his heart into smithereens and shot panic through his every pore. It was the scream of his daughter. Within milliseconds he was up and out of bed, sprinting. He rushed into Avena’s room and knelt by the side of her bed, scooping her into his arms. She was still thrashing around, her screams died down to a dull whimper as her small fingers clung onto the fabric of his shirt for dear life.

“Hey, hey,” he murmured, “shhhhh shhhhh shhhhh, I’ve got you baby.”

She hyperventilated into his chest, then entirety of her tiny body shaking in his arms.

“What’s wrong?” he asked quickly, brushing the hair stuck to her sweaty forehead out of her face.

Big blue eyes, the ones he’d fallen in love with once upon a time, filled to the brim with large tears stared back up at him. Avena began to cry. Bulbous teardrops rolled down her cheruibic cheeks, streaking salty water down her face.

“There was a man and he took me and he said I couldn’t come back to you and mommy ever again,” she sobbed, red faced.

“Slow down Avena,” he soothed, “take a deep breath with me okay?”

She nodded and mirrored her dad as he inhaled and exhaled.

“The pictures in my head,” she told him, “when I sleep.”

“Your dreams?” he asked gently.

She nodded, “but it was a bad one.”

“You had a nightmare?”

“Mhmm,” she said, her bottom lip wobbling, “and you and mommy couldn’t save me.”

His heart clenched in his chest. He knew he wanted to destroy whatever had made her feel this way but he also knew that was impossible.

“Oh Avena,” he whispered, bringing her close to him, “you know that your nightmares aren’t real right? They’re just made up in your had. And me and mommy will always be able to save you.”

“You promise?” she asked, her voice so soft it could melt butter.

“I promise,” he nodded, kissing her forehead.

Avena stared up at him, doe-eyed, “but it felt really real daddy.”

“I know but I promise you baby,” Kai told her firmly, “it wasn’t.”

“I want mommy,” she whimpered, chewing the sleeves of her night shirt.

“I know sweetie,” Kai sighed, gently taking the soggy fabric from her mouth and rolling her sleeve over, “but mommy’s sleeping.”

“Oh,” she replied, pouting her rosy pink lips slightly.

“Let me tell you a secret, you ready Ave?” he whispered with a grin, in attempts to cheer her up.

She looked up, eye widened with a spark of excitement, “yeah!”

Kai adored that look in her eyes, it made a sense of warmth spread across the left side of his chest. He leant in closer to her and pressed his mouth up to her ear.

“Mommy’s snoring,” he murmured.

She giggled, “really?”

“Yep,” he nodded, “I think if we listen quietly enough now I think we’ll able to hear her.”

Avena brought one of her little fingers to her lips and pressed it gently on them. They waited in silence until suddenly there comes the sound of Paedyn’s soft snoring. Avena looked up at Kai.

“Mommy’s snoring!” she laughed.

“You see what I have to put up with now?” he asked jokingly.

“Poor you daddy,” she grinned in reply.

“Are you going to try and go back to sleep now?” Kai murmured gently, putting his daughter back down into her bed and tucking her in.

“I’m scared,” Avena said quietly.

“Why?”

“I don’t want to nightmares to come back,” she replied, grabbing her teddy bear and squeezing it tightly to her chest.

“I don’t think they will,” Kai reassured her, running his fingers through her silver hair, just like he had previously been doing to Paedyn, “but if they do, me and mommy are right next door and you can just come and get us right away, okay?”

“Okay,” she nodded, snuggling back under the covers, “can you look under my bed?”

“Why baby?” he asked.

“Because there might be monsters be under there,” she said, her voice low and cautious, laced with fear.

“I don’t think there are any,” he told her softly,

“Please look,” she begged, “you can scare them away.”

“What makes you think they’ll be scared of me Ave?” he said.

“Because you have a sword,” she explained.

Kai chuckled a little before bending down and looking under his daughter’s bed. Of course there was nothing but her pair of ballet flats there.

“There’s nothing there Avena,” he called up, “only your ballet shoes.”

“Are you sure?” she asked incredulously.

“Sure,” he confirmed, suppressing a smile.

“Sure, sure?” she double checked.

“Sure sure sure sure sure,” he winked, tickling her belly.

She giggled, her smile lighting up Kai from the inside out “okay, I believe you.”

“You feeling a little better now?” he asked.

“Yes but…” she hesitated, “daddy?”

“Yes,” he replied.

“Will you stay here, until I fall asleep?” she asked him with a small yawn.

The question yanked Kai’s heartstrings, the sudden harsh tug taking him off guard. Something about her little voice asking that question, almost had him choked up. But he suppressed whatever it made him feel for the moment and sat down right beside her bed.

“Of course baby,” he said, “I’ll stay here all night if you need me to.”

Avena yawned again. He took the tip of his pinky finger and guided it gently down her nose a few times. Avena’s eyes fluttered shut within moments and her breathing grew heavier. She was sound asleep, just like her momma, minus the snoring. Kai still remained sat at her bedside, something in him not quite allowing him to leave. Avena was breathing soundly, normally, there was even a smile on her face and yet worry was built up in his chest. He wished he could take all her nightmares and murder them with his famous ‘scary’ sword.

“What’s going on?” a new voice yawned.

Kai looked up to see his wife stood in the doorway arms folded. Her hair was slightly messed up and she had sleepy dust in her eyes and yet still to Kai she looked like the most beautiful being he’d ever laid eyes on.

“Is she okay?” Paedyn gestured to Avena, anxiety in her voice, as Kai approached her.

“Nightmare,” Kai explained with a soft sigh.

Paedyn’s face morphed into a mixture of worry and concern, as she paled. She suddenly felt awfully guilty for sleeping through all of this

“Don’t panic, I think she’s alright now,” Kai soothed wrapping an arm around her, “we’ve established there’s no monsters under her bed.”

“Oh my baby,” she said, with a hand over her heart.

“She’ll be okay, “ he comforted, “let’s go back to sleep.”

“You weren’t asleep,” she criticised him with an eyebrow raised. She said it as a statement, not a question.

“How do you know, you were snoring so loudly the roof nearly came down,” he scoffed.

She stopped in her tracks, taking him by surprise as he followed suit. Paedyn then swiftly whacked his arm. Hard. He fought a wince.

“I don’t snore,” she insisted firmly, arms folded across her chest with a sharp look in her eyes, “and you have dark circles under your eyes that could rival charcoal art work.”

“Ouch darling,” he chuckled, biting his bottom lip.

“Marriage means honesty Prince,” she smiled wistfully, “but seriously Kai, you need to sleep.”

“I know but it’s just hard,” he shrugged in response.

“It’s not going to get easier if you don’t try,” she said.

Kai sighed and guided Paedyn back to their bedroom, pulling her back onto the bed beside him. Kai liked the feeling of his wife in his arms, it made him feel like he was physically protecting her. Not that she needed protecting.

“Kai?” she murmured, shattering the silence.

He hummed a response.

“Was Avena really upset?” she asked, finally getting the weighted question off of her chest.

“There were some tears,“ he admitted, “she told me in her dream we couldn’t save her, I think that’s what made her most upset.”

“Why didn’t you wake me?” Paedyn replied, the guilt seeping back through.

“You were asleep,” Kai said, “you need your sleep.”

“I know but I should’ve been there,” she sighed, playing with her fingers.

“Hey,” he snapped firmly, “stop doing that.”

“What?” she asked.

“Beating yourself up, making yourself feel guilty over nothing,” he said, taking her hands into his.

“It wasn’t nothing,” she bit back fiercely.

“Our baby had a nightmare,” he shrugged, “she’s had them before and she’ll have them again. This time you weren’t right by her side but I was, next time it might be the other way around.”

“Okay,” Paedyn exhaled, getting comfy on his chest.

But Kai knew his wife a little better than that. He knew that answer was just a conversation stopper.

“You’re not convinced ,” he sighed.

“No but I’m too stubborn to see it any other way so you should give up whilst you still have your sanity,” she smiled.

“My sanity?” he laughed, tracing spirals on her arm with his fingertip, “darling that left me the day I first tasted your lips.”

“You’re cute and all but sleep,” she mumbled into his chest, slowly dropping off.

He kissed the top of her head and then rested his cheek there, closing his eyes and attempting to fall into darkness.

“Daddy?”

The small voice jolted him upright. He looked down to see Avena standing beside his bedside table, teddy bear in hand.

“What’s wrong baby?”

“Can I come in yours and mommy’s bed tonight? I can’t sleep,” Avena whispered.

“Of course, come here,” he said as he lifted her into his arms and held her right to his chest, letting her know she was safe.

Paedyn stirred and opened her eyes. She immediately noticed Avena and silently scooped her daughter into her arms and rested on Kai’s chest. Kai watched as both of his worlds fell to deep into sleep in perfect synchronisation. When he heard their soft snores he relaxed a little and finally let his eyes close. And it the most peaceful night of sleep he’d ever had.

What do you think about Lloyd's relationship with the OG ninja besides Kai and Nya? It feels like they're not portrayed often fo you have any HC?

We're all sleeeeeping on theeeeeeeeem!!!!!!! (though these are ofc legacyverse!specific)

Zane and Lloyd are both insomniacs; Zane technically doesn't even need sleep and Lloyd is Lloyd, so often they're drifting around in the middle of the night trying to occupy themselves and wind up going outside and waxing philosophy to each other until one or the other finally manages to doze off.

Zane also sculpts some stuff out of ice to show Lloyd how to construct it for himself, and they also train with Lloyd's Ice Master Building" to better refine it

Lloyd eventually demands that Zane teach him how to make his secret muffin recipe, so Lloyd will always have it on hand, even if his batches will never taste the same as Zane's. Zane obliges, if only to help further pass on his parents' skills and spent some more non-violent time with Lloyd

Jay and Lloyd both train like fiends once they get going. Both are horrendous to have as sparring partners, and putting them up against each other is going to result in a long match of both physical feats and wits.

Lloyd will often conceptualize a mech to Master Build one day, and Jay will analyze it and point out all the places where things can be improved, putting the best of both their skills together as one

Jay and Lloyd often has 'Starfarer' nights where they reread an arc of the comics, watch all the Starfarer movies, and cap off the night with video games. (and Sometimes Miranda joins in)

They also bond over feeling 'abandoned' by certain family members, which also feeds into Jay feeling very strongly about his role as an 'older' brother with Lloyd, since he is otherwise the youngest one (not counting Nya obvs). He tries to be as 'protective' as the other three at first, but Lloyd tells him that he likes having a brother that isn't always worried about Lloyd's safety above all else and likes having someone to cause shenanigans with jkhgfds

Cole and Lloyd bond over running away from home; Cole's like the only one that really understands where he's coming from/why he would've felt compelled to do so in the first place, and definitely can't chastise him for it

They do a lot of small art projects in between missions to unwind and unplug a little bit! Cole likes working with clay; Lloyd likes working with paper

Lloyd will sneak into Cole's space to borrow and/or listen to some of his music; sometimes it helps him fall asleep, but then Lloyd will fall asleep in Cole's room and/or bed and give himself away. But Cole never complains, and always carries Lloyd back to his own bed

Whenever Cole accidentally breaks something with unintended use of his super-strength, Lloyd will be there with Master building to fix it back good as new! <3

@giddlygoat liked the other headcanons post, and since I only have 9 followers I see no reason not to make more specifically for him, so-

Since Jay can hear electricity, he can pick up on the energy buzz that humans make, even if he can't hear it as well as he can nindroids. After his powers manifested again post-crystalized, Nya noticed him starting to tilt his head when people came in or left the room, even though he didn't ever appear to register they were there. When she ended up asking about it he just went "Hm? Oh, that's normal. I think. My mom used to point it out."

A Lava HC- Kai knows where a majority of Cole's scars are, and so when he's upset, he'll trace where they are under his clothes, both because thinking about where they are and what they came from centers him and because he knows Cole likes it when his scars are noticed.

Jay mentions on multiple occasions that his ears are hyper sensitive, which adds weight to the idea that he can hear the buzz of electricity, but he was totally absolutely terrified of thunderstorms as a kid because of how loud they were.

Zane's preferred pajamas are absolutely animal onesies. His favorite one is a fluffy snow leopard.

Ninjago is a show marketed towards young children, but if it wasn't, the ice warriors from the Never Realm incident would have been the reanimated corpses of warriors who froze to death. Chew on that for a sec, why don't ya.

Cole doesn't like getting his nails painted, not because he doesn't enjoy looking slay as hell, but because using his powers scratches off the nail polish really easily, and he gets sad when it comes off so quickly.

Another Lava HC, Lava for life- Cole is a certified insomniac, but Kai needs a minimum of 12 hours of sleep to function. This leads to a lot of instances where Cole is reading in his room or playing videogames on the couch and Kai is completely just passed the fuck out on him. Cole doesn't mind, because Kai is like a portable boyfriend blanket.

Cinder’s body was awake. Every nerve, wire, and vein thrummed with energy. She couldn’t stop shaking, no matter how hard she tried. How could she after her most recent comm with Kai?

She let out a giggle, not something she did commonly. Her mind replayed Kai’s words, smile, laughs, and jokes over and over again. Each time her grin grew wider until her cheeks permanently molded into a smile. She would analyze every crinkle of an eye, every blush, every dimple, every detail of his face. It was better than caffeine. Maybe she should play their video comms to wake herself up during meetings.

The Queen of Luna had only one thing on her mind while she rested in her private quarters after a long day of meetings and documents. Her boyfriend, who happened to be the Emperor of the Eastern Commonwealth. Who also happened to be the reason she was kicking her feet in her silky, regal bedsheets and getting warnings for the rush of hormones.

Her fingers itched to call him again, her eyes longed to see his face, her ears wanted to hear his voice. She wished she could smell and touch him but she would have to wait until the next Peace Ball.

Sighing, for apparently the twenty-seventh time, Cinder adjusted into a fetal position and tried to sleep. She failed, unsurprisingly. She then sat up and fidgeted with her hands. A queen needed a healthy sleep schedule and she was already terribly behind on hers.

Her eyes latched onto her port and the temptation to call him grew exponentially bigger. One search and her brain told her it was one in the morning in the Commonwealth. Perhaps, being the insomniac, anxious, overthinker that he is, he could still be awake. But Cinder didn’t want to wake him up if he wasn’t.

Before she could dictate otherwise, her fingers rushed to start a comm with him, as if her desires took hold of her body and her mind could only sit and watch helplessly at the invasion. She did nothing, though, to stop the attack. She waited through, one, two, three rings before he picked up.

The beloved Emperor, her lover, the reason she laughs maniacally in the middle of the night, smiled back at her with shining copper eyes. Her jumble of happy feelings exploded again and she couldn't stop another giggle from bursting through her lips. Stars above, twice in the same timespan. The things this boy, her boy, made her do.

And he truly was a boy. Kai’s face lit up when he heard her laugh, like a child when he gets what he wants, “Miss me?” he teased. He loved poking fun at her. He’s a boy. Only his face, pillow, and headboard of the bed was visible. The only light seemed to come from the port, like hers.

“Why are you still up? Don’t you have important things to do tomorrow?” She pretended to be concerned (and truly she was for his lack of sleeping but she was selfishly grateful that he was up talking to her.)

“I could ask the same thing. Besides, I have to do important stuff every day.” He shifted his phone so his neck and collarbone was exposed.

With a start she realized he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Though she was curious as to why he lost his shirt from thirty minutes ago, she didn’t want to bring awkwardness to the conversation. He might have been hot, or uncomfortable.

He coughed, “So, why’d you call again?”

She felt her emotions start to deflate. Perhaps he didn't want to see her as much as she wanted to see him.

“Why not?”

“It’s getting pretty late there, is it not?”

“It’s only twelve thirty.” she retorted.

He chuckled, furrowing his brow, “Isn’t that why we hung up?”

“Yes, but-“

“Go to bed, Cinder.” His smirk began to fall bit as he stared at her through the screen. Though they were thousands of miles apart, she could still feel the intensity and wanting From his eyes. “I don’t want you to go to bed, but you should for your own health.” Her doubt dissapeared like clouds once saved away.

“This is nothing compared to how late I’ve slept before. Sometimes I don’t sleep at all.” Her voice softened. She felt as if they were in the same room, mere inches apart from each other, while having a deep conversation. “I don’t want to sleep. I’m not tired.”

“It’s not about what you want, dear, it’s about what you need.” Dear. His nicknames were a little corny, sure, but they were cute.

“You sound like everybody else here, they always tell me what I need to do, never taking account what I want to do or my opinions.” Cinder huffed, slightly teasing him back. She didn’t mean to start ranting about her demanding, yet exhausting, life but their conversations usually ended up this way. It seemed like the only people who could relate to teenagers being in charge of entire countries is other teenagers being in charge of entire countries.

Kai smiled, then heaved a long sigh. “I know what you mean.” She watched him fall back into a pillow. “And what do you want, Cinder, if you’re so tired of others telling you what you should want?”

She paused, thinking, “I want… people to listen to me without giving poor arguments that are easily refutable. Perhaps a day without a headache would be nice? If that is even possible.” She let out a small laugh. “And maybe… a break. I know I sound pretentious but I just want one moment a day to myself where I can think out loud without interruptions and judgement.” Cinder never talks this much with anybody except Iko and, now, Kai. She didn’t even mean to say all that. “And what do you want, Kai?”

Three heartbeats. She could see the hesitition and resolve in his eyes. It was like watching gears to a hover spin until it starts, and once it did start you could fe. Then he smiled, “You, darling. I want you. All I wish for at every chance is you.” Her heart nearly exploded out of her chest. She felt special, lucky, wanted. It felt so comforting, like a warm blanket around her cold shoulders. She was frozen, her smile stuck in her throat instead of her cheeks for once. All she could do was listen. “I want you by my side tonight, tomorrow night, every night. I want to wake up with you.” His voice lowered until it wasa barely audible murmur. It made this moment and his words seem more important. “I only want to be with you. Stars, Cinder, you don’t know how much I miss you when we hang up. You don’t know how glad I am you called. You don’t know how much I want you.” Another heartbeat, “You don’t know how much I want to kiss you.”

Good, ever present, shining, stars above. Warnings popped up in her head but she only ignored them. She could only think about Kai and his heartfelt speech. She could only think about how much she missed him too, how much she wanted him here with her, how much she wanted to crawl into his arms and listen to him breathe. How much she wanted to tell him everything she felt at this moment and every moment that they share. A pause stretched between them as they stared at each other. She watched his ears, then his cheeks, turn red. How she loved it when he blushed, it was very adorable. Then she spoke “I want the same things, Kai.”

He chuckled again, this time more awkwardly. “Ok, good. I would be a little concerned if you didn’t.”

Another pause unfurled comfortably. They lay their smiling at each other in the wake of their confessions. His audible, hers emotional. She needed to figure out how to voice them. Stars, it would be so much easier if she could say it with her head buried in his chest. He would smile and kiss the top of her head. The pain of their long distance relationship hit her once again, like a clock that rings dutifully every hour. It mechanically reminded her how far they were apart. And indeed every hour it struck, like perfect clockwork. She wished it was imperfect and preferred when she didn’t feel it coming.

“You know, I thought you were annoyed at me for calling earlier.” She rambled, annoyed at herself for only having one thing to say.

“Of course not, darling.” He frowned, “Never. I blush every time your name is mentioned.”

She smiled. “I make you blush?” She asked innocently.

Kai huffed, “Haven’t we had this conversation before?”

“I believe so.” The moment seemed to be heading to another long pause so she cleared her throat and mentally prepared herself, “Kai?”

“Yes, dear?”

“I, um, I have these dreams where you’re there.”

He smiled, radiant and breathtaking, “You

do?” He chuckled, “So you’ve said.”

“I know but listen for a bit. Those dreams feel so real that I manage to convince my conscious self that it was a real memory when I wake up. Of course, I realize the truth later, but that’s not the point.”

“What is the point?”

“I’m getting there.”

“When will you reach the point.” His smile stuck but not as breathtaking, but more mocking.

“Kai.” She said with a glare.

“Ok I won’t speak. Please continue, darling.”

“Well, the reason they felt, and feel, so real is because of how much I want them to feel real.” She sighed. His eyes matured to understanding and she could tell he related. “I just wish we- I want us to— I think— ugh.”

“You want the same things I do.” He murmured, low and confirming. “So you’ve said.”

“So I’ve said.” Cinder paused. “I wish I wasn’t in Luna. I wish I wasn’t Queen. I wish I didn’t have to take on this responsibility so young. I wish I could spend my days with, like your actual— you know.” She nervously cut herself off.

He laughed out loud, “Like my actual girlfriend?”

Queen Selen Channary Jannali Blackburn of Luna was her official name and title. It was enough that people would destroy countries for the power. It struck fear, envy, respect, relief to her citizens, and much more, depending on who you ask. Yet, the title of girlfriend, the Emperor’s girlfriend, made her far more giddy than the title she held now. Stars, what happened to her stoicism?

Kai smiled, noticing her obvious emotions for the name, “What, are you too embarrassed to say it out loud. Are you ashamed that you’re dating the Emperor?” He teased her because he knew what she’d say.

“Are you ashamed that you’re dating the Queen of Luna.” Cinder smirked, “Again.” She added.

“Hey, I never dated Levana… Willingly, at least.” He retorted.

“Uh huh. Whatever you say. Just know that tablets disagree.” Said Cinder.

“And what do the tablets say?” He mused.

“That she’s exactly your type. And I’m some sort of an anomaly.” said Cinder.

“So I’m into old andpchycopatic women?” Kai asked.

“I was actually thinking you were into being manipulated and threatened.” She winked. “So I guess I’m just your type, going off what the tablets say about me”

They started to laugh. She rolled over in her bed, tangling the sheets even more. She could feel the vibrations of his laugh coming from the port and briefly imagined she could feel it coming from his chest. Cinder slowly stopped laughing as her thoughts turned bleak once again.

Kai, per usual, noticed. “What’s wrong, darling.”

She twisted her mouth, “I miss you.”

“I know, me too.” He sighed. “I think we said this at least twenty times tonight. Or this morning.”

“Yeah. We should probably plan to meet up sometime soon.” It was probably impossible but Cinder couldn’t help talking about it. She wanted them to at least think about it.

“Yes. We should. I’ll talk to Torin-” He yawned, interrupting his sentence- “First thing in the morning.”

“I’ll talk with whoever is in charge of my Royal visits. Hoofing- er Hoffing, however you say it. Or maybe it’s Ryan, she handled one of my trips. But I swear I saw Hoffing’s name on my last trip.” Cinder cut herself, noticing her habit to ramble when she got tired. She also noticed how the other side of the screen went quiet and dark.

“Kai?” She murmured, “You asleep yet?”

“No, but I will if you keep talking. The sound of your voice is quite comforting and relaxing. It’s nice to fall asleep to.” Responded Kai. The tone of his voice was telling of his evident weariness.

“Ok. How about I keep rambling about nothing until we both fall asleep?” She asked.

Kai smiled, “I would like that a lot, my darling.”

They did exactly that. Once Cinder ran out of things to talk about, she started reading a book to him. Everytime she thought he was asleep he would input a thought and she’d keep reading. This went on for thirty minutes ago until Kaiws permanently quiet and Cinder’s words turned into snores.

The couple slept together that night. A thousand miles apart, a time zone away, and space couldn’t separate them. If they loved each other this deeply now, how much deeper would it be in person? Their breathing matched, and even without physical touch, their heartbeats aligned. A truly romantic and inspiring moment that the couple will keep in their minds until they met face to face, not long from. All there is to do is wait.

AN: Sorry for being completely unactive for the last year or two but I come bearing gifts! My love for tic and kaider have (obviously) not faded but I've just been swamped with school, friends, extracurriculars, and with little to no motivation to write. I hope y'all like this pic though, the beginning was made by me around 5 am in an airport and I've been slowly adding up to it over the months (so if the beginning is crappy, I was sleep deprived). I have a TON of started fics in my notes app waiting to be released unto the world but y'all just have to wait and see. Also there may (or may not be) a part two to this fic (I started it last night) and I might never post it. No promises. Have a nice day :D !
