Idk how to explain but being someone that's pursuing a teaching career (I'm majoring in History, graduating next year i hope) makes me put characters who are teachers into a whole new perspective? FOR EXAMPLE Luke Skywalker is my favorite character in the whole world, love writing character studies about every aspect of him but my favorite one to write/think about is the fact that he's a teacher. He needs to be a teacher, because there is no one left to do it. Luke faces a lot of insecurities I also face as someone who will soon be teaching: Am I ready to do this? Will I be enough for my students? Will I be good enough, know enough, be wise enough, be kind enough? What if I fail them?
Maybe I'm projecting too much, but seeing Luke as a teacher makes him feel like a very human character to me. And yeah, maybe he is not the best example of a teacher because he failed spectacularly, but sometimes that's part of the job too. People make mistakes, and being a teacher is being painfully human.

i always get kinda embarrassed or sad about how fucking slow i am when reading something due to memory loss/having to read something again and again to actually process it because of my disabilities/my adhd and wavering attention span but like... i gotta kill the elementary school reading award pressure in my head.... reading isnt something restricted by time. its not a race to finish 50 books in two months. if i read a hundred pages in a day or if i cant even get through one, its okay, because theres always tomorrow or the day after. there's no time restraint or pressure to enjoy art in my own time in a way i actually can and shame is just gonna make my actual enjoyment of the book be tainted or my ability to actually read and retain information get worse.

Happy International Women’s day 2024 | Springfield Public School Wishing Happy Women Day 8 march 2024
Greetings on International Women's Day!
It's not a world for men anymore!
Mother Teresa reportedly remarked, "Every man needs women when his life is a mess because, in chess, the queen defends the king." In honor of International Women's Day 2024, we at Emerge India gave each of our female employees a table stand that said, "Proud to be Women!!" We also created a Women's Cell within our company, which not only empowers and inspires women to take risks but also lets them know that Emerge is always there to support and shield them in times of need.
Women had become the backbone of the country during World War II, filling in for men in the jobs they left empty. who were enlisted in the armed forces. This led to one of the most significant advancements for women. She was capable of doing anything a man could do better. Decades later, women continue to demonstrate that this is no longer a world dominated by men.
In their own domains of competence, women are remarkably making significant achievements, perhaps serving as role models for other women in the world.
The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Balanc for Better," which is incredibly inspiring. The goal is to create a more balanced society where both sexes may work together in a similar work setting, drawing inspiration from each other's abilities and successes. It is not intended to minimize the accomplishments of men or to overvalue those of women.
Together, let's
Thanks Regards

Whenever I see things about grad students having their healthcare revoked, I think about how neither of my two grad programs offered students any healthcare at all. Not even the one that required all students to be working at unpaid internships in the field (internships our supervisors had to grade and submit those grades to the school with detailed reports on our work) while we studied.

"The process of classifying books can be somewhat inconsistent. Books usually get an initial designation from authors and publishers. Then, professional book reviewers usually weigh in with their own age-bracket recommendation, and distributors and booksellers can do the same. But ultimately, local library staff make the final call about the books they buy and where they should go.
[Co-founder of Idaho group Parents Against Bad Books, Carolyn] Harrison wants to change that process by giving parents a voice in that final decision, along with the library staff. But she says libraries are resistant to the idea.
"They've told us here that 'Oh no, you can't have parents involved. You must have experts choosing books for the children,'" Harrison says. "That makes no sense. Parents are the primary stakeholders for children."
....Others around the nation are trying another tactic.
A proposal in Washington state would require libraries to use a universal book-rating system, like the one voluntarilyused by the movie industry to designate films "G," "PG," "PG-13" and "R."
"We're not asking for anything unreasonable," says Lewis County Commissioner Sean Swope, who proposed the plan. "This is a tool to provide parents to be able to tell whether this is appropriate book for your child. I mean, that innocence, once it's gone, it's gone."
Under Swope's proposed plan, librarians would be required to rate books according to criteria that he would set."
