I don't wanna be mean, but I feel like...it's not gatekeeping to say that you should read canon before writing a thesis on a character. The amount of times I have read "Bruce, Dick and Alfred don't visit Jason's grave which is why they missed that he was alive" is insane for something that is literally explained in Under the Red Hood. I don't need yet another rendition of "Damian cuts Tim's line everyone ignores it" when that's not what happened in Red Robin. Why does Tim overwhelmingly seem to view Dick as a loser at best and abusive at worse when that's not their canon relationship even a little? Why does Bruce constantly treat Cass like a distant ally instead of his literal mini me of a daughter??? Why do Cass and Duke act like they've never met??? I hate to be cringe and say that I am heavily invested in these characters and when I read about them outside of canon, I want to read about them and not the abomination that the the first 5 facts listed on their wiki and the game of telephone between fic writers that won't engage with the source material and/or a narrative from the perspective of one single brown character makes of them, but I am and I do. If you're going to be in it then be in it but if you genuinely do not like the source material and don't want to read it then what are you even doing???

It's so mysterious because...the game really doesn't delve into more of these implications than just to say, oh!! They're rescued now! It has me... pondering... like, only if Pikmin 4 increased the demand, the urgency, such as timing... as they had it in Pikmin 1. By chance, there could've been a heightened sense of... oh no, this characters gonna die... how would this change the trajectory of the game, the story line... and all, by posing intrigue!!!

What will the "death" of this character reveal to me? Will this force me to the beginning of the game depending on its significance? Does this make me care more about my mission?

being that there's quite a handful of castaways to rescue... but... not all of them are leaflings. If there was just a little more push... a different motivation, such as to say, "Come on, recruit!!! Lives are counting on you!"

BECAUSE!!! You're in the Rescue Corps! It's no longer solely in Olimar's perspective! So, perhaps a...setback... to the mystery of leaflings was the application of the "collecting" role/formula of gameplay, (i.e, the sparklium, ship parts, and pokos)....so... with a little less "collecting" and a little more story-telling and focus on castaways, it would've allowed more room for an expansion of leaflings! With this, they could've confirmed whether it was, as you said, parasitic or DNA integration - or, at the very least, come closer to a definitive answer rather than just... ope... everything's okay now because of glow sap!

I'm so stumped too, that, in one of Olimar's logs, he reflects of the circumstances of Pikmin 2 to be a "bad dream"...

But!! Could this just be his memory loss? A side effect of being a leafling for as long as he was? BAH! A girl can dream, it just seems Pikmin 4 tossed the concepts of Pikmin 2 not to mention the obliteration of Pikmin 3 for some reason seeing that they changed the whole purpose to why Louie is on PNF-404 to begin with... or... unless... My problem with this is newspapers are not tailored with an algorithm to abuse your attention. Or needy, schizophrenic app alerts that ding just to get you to look at them. Of course humans want to occupy their mind with entertainment. But when said entertainment comes from a device with dark patterns designed to rot your brain from the inside we get the modern world.

It's okay to exist without phone. I know how boomer that sounds, but notifications, algorithms, and dark design literally keep you trapped in doomscrolling by design. Social media used to work just like a newspaper, you could reach the end of the feed and be done.

If you think people used to willingly stare off into the distance before smartphones, my dad told me he had this psychology assignment when he was in college in the 80s which was basically

Go to a restaraunt by yourself and eat a meal without a newspaper or journal or anything else to keep you occupied and then write a report about it

Which tells me that this was a way for a professor to inflict psychological torture on their students and that people used to bring little things with them to keep them entertained. Shown by those old pictures of everyone in a trolley reading a newspaper with one hand.

Frankly I think that the human brain has been craving smart phone forever. Perhaps we use it too much at times but if this was 1985 we also wouldn’t be talking to people.
