How the Captains and Lieutenants (+) would react to PDA

I’m obsessed with this anime you don’t even understand. Imma do a spin off of this but with the arrancar and sterneitter and Yhwach… yes I like Yhwach. Suck my dick. All the captains are the ones in the picture aka pre attack TYBW captains. Ikkaku and Kaien are the only changed lieutenants. This took to long to write so I barley proof read it, it just gets a little reparative at times. Read the note at the end plz. Enjoy my loves.

Chōjirō Sasakibe

W/ others: Young Chojiro would find it sweet. He has a very strong heart and will acknowledge the love of the couple but do nothing more. Older Chojiro would probably scoff and tell them to be a little more prideful about when and where they show their affection.

W S/O: I think no matter what age he’s pretty much the same. Wouldn’t do too much or too little. Younger him wouldn’t be as affectionate because he might have other priorities. Older him though, even tho he has more responsibilities, he’s laid back and will rest with you on a bench as you talk about your day. Would probably like feeding the ducks at a local park with you.

Suì-Fēng

W/ other people: *Side eye*. She ignores it for the most part but wishes they would do it in private. As long as it’s not anything tooo intimate then she doesn’t mind really.

W/ S/O: She doesn’t like it. Again, she doesn’t mind anything very subtle. Intentional but discreet brushing of the hands, holding eachother pinkies under the table, or sitting close together, is all alright. Hugging and Kissing on the other hand? No. Maybe if she’s feeling a little soft or has a good day, a kiss on the cheek would be exceptional, maybe a pet name. Other than that, absolutely not. She does have a reputation to uphold after all. (*cough* and she doesn’t want Yoruichi to see *cough*)

Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi

W/ others: He finds it endearing that people can express their love for eachother so openly. He won’t comment on it and keep going on with his day. If it gets a little to handsy between the two he’ll probably strum his guitar a little harder to block it out or just get up and walk away.

W/ S/O: He enjoys it. He likes the feeling of his hands in yours and arms wrapped around each other. He’s a little more open about it in private but that doesn’t mean he’ll completely stop in public. He’s more of a words or affrimation kinda guy, I mean he puts so much emotion into his lyrics, how could he not be? He’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear, and if he’s in the mood, a couple filthy promises.

Izuru Kira

W/ others: Izuru is a naturally introverted and quiet person. Seeing people so open and confident in their love for eachother makes him a little jealous. He wishes that sometimes he could put himself out there just a little more, but he’s comfortable in his little bubble so the thought alone kinda scares him.

W/ S/O: As I said before, he’s a shy lil boy. Not to much in public or you’ll kill him. In private tho, 🤭. He’s literally all over you, begging and whimpering for just a little bit of attention (he’s def a sub imo). He likes having someone to hold every night he goes to bed and every morning he wakes up. Tbh, I think he goes for the extroverts; he’d appreciate it if you make the moves most of the time. But when he’s in a mood, best believe he’s not letting you go anywhere, for someone so slim he can be exceptionally strong; aka his status as a lieutenant. He loves words of affirmation, giving or receiving.

Retsu Unohana

W/ others: She thinks it’s sweet, at least Retsu does. As long as they aren’t doing too much she just goes on about her day. Yachiru on the other hand would have scoffed a little, shaming them for their openness, thinking that those moments between two lovers should be saved for the more private and intimate moments. (*She a reformed crip*)

W/ S/O: Im a little indifferent on this one. I don’t really have an opinion on her when it comes to this. I think before the main story and tybw she wouldn’t even be interested in anything but battle. Main story Unohana (+) pre-attack tybw, wouldn’t mind hand holding. She’ll call you cute/endearing names like “dear or hun” but other than that, I don’t think she’ll be that mindful or care about it.

Isanae Kotetsu

W/ others/: She’s shy and reserved just like izuru. More prone to blushing at seeing other people cuddle up to each other . If she makes contact with either of the two she’ll put her head down and scurry away. She’s so cuteeeee☺️.

W/ S/O: FLUSTERED AF. Will blush, stutter, and whimper at any sign of affection; especially in public. Y’know when in anime the two love interests are walking home together and one grabs the other's hand and turns away blushing? That’s her. She rarely makes the first move but will silently ask you too.

Shinji Hirako

W/ others: Fuckin Hypocrite. He'll scoff and get in his “I wish that was me so imma be a hater,” moods. Seeing people canoodling with each other in public kinda makes his dick hard ngl. He imagines it’s him with his s/o. niggas a pervert on bro.

W S/O: Touchy grabby touchy grabby. Won’t keep his hands to himself. Loves the fact others can see how shy he makes you. Will whisper the filthiest, diabolical things in your ear. Scratch that, if he feels like it he’ll say it out loud. Depending on who you are though, he won't actually say anything, he’s truly a respectful person; just likes to tease. Besides anything sexual, he loves holding your hands and looking deep into your eyes. It’s not hard to make him blush either but he’ll do so with a big smile and soft gaze. He just wants everyone to know how in love he is.

Byakuya Kuchini

W/ others: He doesn’t really care. Little displays of affection are okay in front of him but for the most part, because of who he is, people tend to not take it too far when he’s around.

W S/O: Like Soi Fong, he has a reputation to maintain. He’s a very private and uptight person. Most would say he has a stick up his ass (*kenny*). Another person who prefers to show affection in private. He’ll let you lay your head on his shoulder or vice versa; hands intertwined while you observe the koi fish in his private pond. In meetings with the other nobles, he’ll grab and squeeze your hand from under the table to reassure you. Who knew he could be a lil softie.

Renji Abarai

W/ others: Doesn’t matter to him. Don’t try and bang in front of him and you're cool. Renjis a very laid back guy even if he can be a hot head. He prefers if people would do it in private but if it starts to get to much for him he’ll just get up and walk away.

W/ S/O: I can only imagine him w/ Rukia I’m so sorry. Butttt, if I had to give a take on it I’d say he can get really flustered.

Sajin Komomaru

W/ others: Slightest bit jealous. Because of what he looks like, afraid that nobody would wanna do those things with him. He doesn’t have an opinion on PDA, as long as they’re respectful of the others around.

W S/O: It’s a pretty known fact that Sajin is insecure about himself. However, after he takes his face covering off he does become a little more confident. He’s another private one. Loves cuddling next to the fireplace. In his human form tho, he feels like he has an opportunity to finally show how much he loves you in public without fear of getting judged. He’ll hold you hand and call you a little pet name but for the most part he’s “meh” about it. Afraid to get fur in your mouth.

Shunsui Kyōraku

W/ others: Also another pervert. Have you read his books? Is the cheesy romantic type who says shit like “they just love eachother so much”. That one guy in meet cute romance novels who sits in the back of the cafe or park benches and writes a story based on couples he sees walking by. On some “her big blue eyes started into his narrow darker ones 🥺,” type shit.

Would probably write smut about it ng hold you. Lisa peer edits 4sure.

W/ S/O: Shameless bastard. Like shinji, he does not care who he’s around. Gets a pass because the head captian thinks of him as a son. Will do it infront it him even, making you give him a slap to the head. He’ll just wink at you and give you the biggest, wettest kiss on your cheek ever (*que Yamamoto leaving the room mumbling about how the younger generation has no shame*). Physical touch and words of affirmation are his strong suit. Will tell you your beautiful no matter when or where. Loves taking naps with you under the many beautiful trees located in *byakuyas’ home* the seireitei.

Nanao Ise

W/ others: Unprofessional. She thinks things like that should be indoor activities in their own space. Would probably speak up about it if it was getting too much. Wouldn’t be bitchy about it but would definitely have a very stern tone.

W/ S/O: Again, save it for inside. Would be flustered at any type of affection but more so in public. Would have the brightest cheeks and tell you off for doing things like that in public. She kinda gives me veryyy subtle tsundere vibes, like you gotta squint to see it. In private however, she’ll come up to you with redden cheeks and an embarrassed/ little irritated expression and hold her arms out for a hug.

Kensei Mugurama

W/ others: Get it outta his face. Doesn’t like it with other people, but he won’t have any strong reaction to it. Probably just gives a roll of his eyes and a head shake. Just seeing other people be lovey dovey makes him cringe.

W S/O: Just like his flat skulled friend, very much a hypocrite. Will have a firm grip on your hand every time you two go out, arm around your waist, hand on your lower back. Even though he has this tough persona attached to him, he doesn’t mind showing just how much he cares about you. Will let you sit in his lap with his arms around you or hands on your hips with his face buried in your neck. He does this the most in public, especially if he doesn’t feel like socializing. Would be a little cheeky and start peppering kisses along your neck.

Shūhei Hisagi

W others: Tbh I’m a bit indifferent to him too. He’ll either glance at them and walk the other way. Or, B, become flustered and dip. He just doesn’t know how to react. Kinda just stares for a couple seconds, blushes, huffs, and walks away.

W S/O: Just like his best friend (insert Izuru), he’s a bit bashful about it, but just like his captain he can be a little slick. After a couple of drinks the boldness comes out. He loves wrapping his arm around your shoulder and pulling you towards him with a kiss on your cheek. Will also pull you into his lap and would most likely fall asleep. When he’s a bit more in control of his actions, he’ll grab your hand as you stroll through the town. Still a fan of kissing you on the cheek and will throw in a babe here or there, the works.

Tōshirō Hitsugaya

W/ others: Another one who finds it inappropriate in public. He’s but a child, spare him please,

W S/O: Lil boy.

Rangiku Matsumoto

W/ others- Yet another one who finds it cute. Would comment on how adorable the couple is, will even say it to their face. She can tune it out if she wants too but finds it funny to tease them. Especially if it’s one of her friends (Izuru abuse).

W S/O- Loves, loves, LOVES PDA. Cute nicknames, hugs and kisses, holding hands, going on dates. Loves to feel wanted and appreciated. Probably loves PDA the most out of everyone on this list.*Gin can’t do anything about it cause he dead*

Kenpachi Zaraki

W others: Finds it disgusting but doesn’t care. Slighttttttttly a perverted about it. As long as you're not jumping each other's bones, you’re safe.

W/ S/O: Kinda like Kensei. Very protective of you and a little saucy. Does not care who's watching because he knows they won’t do anything about it. Won’t say it but he loves when you’re perched on his shoulders (your weight/height does not matter this niggas almost seven feet and beefy). Loves for you to sit in his lap too, another one who likes napping with you outside. Lowkey likes it when you, yachiru, and himself go out and do whatever, kinda like his own little family. (has a breeding kink btw)

Ikkaku Madarame

W/ others: Would straight up tell them to knock it off if it’s getting too much. He finds all that cheesy, coupley, romance stuff disgusting. (Would headbutt someone).

W/ S/O: Doesn’t give a damn just like his captain. Very brash and straight forward. Will come up and kiss you in the middle of training if he thinks he did something particularly good in which he deserves a reward. Would sling an arm around your shoulder and kiss the top of your head while sitting in a bar drinking and laughing. Plot twist! If YOU were the one showing PDA he’ll become bashful and scold you about doing things like that in public. Calls you babe 24/7 and does not care who's around when he makes naughty jokes.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi

W/ others: Will stare at them until they stop or throw up in each other's mouths. Finds it absolutely repulsive. Why are you doing that in public, let alone in front of him? Will comment on it, telling them that wherever they are is no place for such nonsense. Will walk away and mutter how nasty it is under his breath.

W/ S/O: No.

W/ others: Does not care.

W S/O- In terms of the top three PDA lovers I’d say Rangiku, Shunsui/Rose tied for 2nd, then him. He’s literally the sweetest person in all the seireitei. Loves sitting out in the open with you, on a cute little picnic date. Pet names thrown around the room, hugges and kisses are open anytime. Would blush and rub the back of his head with a soft laugh and even softer smile if you ever catch him off guard in public. Would say he loves you no matter who’s around.

Kaien Shiba

W/ others: Won’t pay attention to it. They love each other, so what?

W S/O: Woule give you big bears hugs whenever he sees you. Timid smiles with a heart of gold. Around you 24/7 so everyone has gotten used to it. Your own personal shadow.

W/ S/O- Pre betrayal Aizen would encourage it. He wants to show everyone how sweet and gentle of a boyfriend he can be. Will grab your hands, waist, hips, or arms at random times to catch you off guard. Post betrayal Aizen could not give 2 fucks.. Would come up behind you snaking his hand around your neck and kiss behind your ear, while you’re mid convo with someone might I add. Will have you sit on his throne with him, might force you too if you’ve been acting up, especially if he knows you hate attention (sinister af).

Gin Ichimaru

W/ others: Would observe them from afar. If they're getting annoying with it he’ll come up to them and purposely make them uncomfortable. Deep down though, he’ll find it cute and long for someone to connect to like that

W/ S/O: Similar to Aizen in the way he just does not care. Even after the betrayal of the Gotei 13, he stays the same. Would grab your hips and kiss along the column of your neck staring straight into the eyes of the person you're talking to. Would whisper teasing words to you no matter where you are. But as I said earlier, the real Gin would just want you to feel like you are always an attachment of him. He really does love you

Kaname Tōsen

W others: Can’t see them.

NAH IM JUST PLAYIN 😭. He thinks it’s a bit unsavory to be doin things in public. He does think, however, that if they’re that secure in the relationship and in their love they have the right to express it.

W/ S/O: Pre betrayal Kaname would hold your hands most of the time. Would possibly give you a quick peck on the cheek or forehead when he knows nobody is paying attention. Most of that stuff is in the privacy of your home. Defo gets more confident and will subtly grope you while whispering sweet nothings. Post betrayal Kaname may or may not be as strict about it. W/ others: Would watch them from behind his fan and bucket hat. Doesn’t mind it at all, he’ll just laugh about it and say that they’re just doing what most couples do.

W/ S/O: Run. Will not leave you aloneeeeeee. Will grab at any part of you. Will grab or slap your ass in public too he dgaf: But when you whip around he’s already out of sight. Now you and the other people around you are left speechless as you stomp around to find him. He loves pet names and will let them spew out whenever. Isane Kotetsu definitely works hard, as the squad 4 lieutenant. However as of late, she has been working under stressful conditions, to the point she hasn't tooken a break. You have been noticing that she has been overworking herself, recently.

You, as another member squad 4, have been noticing that she was doing tons of paperwork, while trying her hardest not to sleep, then you were going for you night time walks, as you noticed she still has been overworking to makesure she gets everything done. You just felt bad for her, because of the fact she was overworking herself, so you decided to come up with an idea where you can help her with the work she needed to get done where she can get atleast some rest.

One day you approached your squad 4 lieutenant Isane, as you said, "Hello lieutenant, Isane. There's something I would like to mention, if you don't mind me telling you this... I've been noticing that you have been overworking yourself, which I understand that it's under stressful conditions, however I think you've been overworking yourself non stop and you're even lacking sleep, so if you don't mind, I would like to help you out with your work, and I feel you should rest up some, even if it has to be little by little..." She wasn't sure about letting you help out at first, however she knew you're right about what you said to her, so she happily replied, "I wasn't sure about this at first, however I know you're right about this, so I will let you help me with my work I needed to do, and yes resting, even little by little, is what I needed, since I need to face that I have been overworking, as of late and being a lieutenant, I'm not immune to needing help atleast, once in awhile, and I need rest like everyone else does, sometimes.". While you lending her a helping hand will benefit her, it will also make you feel better, since you were feeling bad about her overworking herself, before your conversation with her.

While you have been lending your lieutenant, Isane a helping hand, you have also makesure she gets some rest from time to time, just to prevent her from continuing to overwork herself. Your intentions are quite simple... You want to look out for her and her well-being and help her anyway you can. As the stressful conditions are reducing, you still madesure you help her, especially with her duties, as a lieutenant of squad 4. Even if the stressful conditions are over, you still madesure she takes a break, because you still want to makesure she doesn't overwork herself, like she was when the stressful conditions were involved in her work.

While you didn't over worry about Isane, however you still kept an eye on her, to makesure she rests up, so she doesn't overwork like she was, again. One night, you got some gifts for her, and you even decorated the squad 4 barracks for her, with lots of pretty lights and stuff. She really was thrilled and surprised on how you decorated the squad 4 barracks and the gifts you got for her.

You then admitted that you liked Isane, alot and you also wanted to show your appreciation for her, because she worked very hard under stressful conditions and that she was very kind to you about you helping her out with what she needed to do. She admittedly liked you alot, also... And she also admired the fact that you're very kind and you're willing to help out, as well. So, both you and Isane became a couple in squad 4, eversince then.

“Captain Kurotsuchi, here’s the report on the strange reiatsu that appeared within the ​​Precipice World.” Akon said as he held the tablet up to the scientist. Mayuri took it and read through it, “It’s about equivalent to a lutientents, but it isn’t from any of the squad’s lutientents.”.

“Do you have any idea where the person is now?” Mayuri asked, “Not yet sir, I’ve sent some people out to find the person." Akon responded. Mayuri only nodded before leaving his lab.

"Strange Reiatsu?" Kyoraku asked, looking over at Nanao. "Like Yhwach strange or just normal strange?" He asked. "We're not sure, Captain Kurotsuchi just reported it." Nanao answered. "Well, guess I should go check it out." He said, pushing himself up from the ground.

Kyoraku grabbed his pink kimono and put it over his shoulders as he went to leave, "I'll join you." Nanao said as she came to follow. "You don't have too-" "You'll get distracted if I don't." She said. Kyoraku only gave a small huff, but didn't protest further.

"This is where it was strongest, correct?" Kyoraku asked as they arrived in the area. "Yes sir." Nanao said, looking over the report one more time. Kyoraku looked around, his gray eyes glanced around the area until he felt the reiatsu. He followed it into an abandoned area of the district.

That's where he found a person in human clothing unconscious on the ground, her hand seemed to be clenched around something tightly. He knelt down, only to feel that she was the one causing the strange reiatsu.

“Head Captain, did you find something?” Nanao asked as she quickly rounded the corner. She looked at the human on the ground. “A human?” She asked, looking a bit confused. “I guess so, she seems to be holding something.” He said, reaching down to touch her hand.

The moment his fingers grazed it, she shifted and her hand clenched the item tighter. From what he could tell, it wasn’t a Quincy cross. Kyoraku only hummed as he picked the woman up. “Ah, Captain-!” “I’ll take her to Squad 4, let Isane look over her.” Kyoraku said.

Nanao only sighed, “You’re too soft on woman Captain, you don’t even know who she is or if she’s dangerous.”. “Then I’ll just hope she isn’t dangerous.” Kyoraku said. “I’ll inform Squad 12 about this then.” Nanao said, and quickly used shunpo to disappear. Kyoraku only nodded and did the same to head towards Squad 4.

It wasn't long before the female was taken to be treated, which she appeared to have no outward injuries. “She isn’t conscious, but for some reason her body is reacting to the object in her hand defensively.” Isane said.

Kyoraku nodded, “Is she human? A Quincy?” he asked. “She’s just human, maybe she’s similar to Orihime and Sado?” Isane answered. Kyoraku nodded, “I’ll see if I can get ahold of the Kurosaki group and see if they know her.” he waved as he went to leave. “Let me know when she wakes up.” he said as Isane nodded.

Kuroo always had a passion for volleyball. It was his pride, his ego, his priority, and his everything. However, he's was always coming home late, missing date nights, and even certain events. He never showed up on one after his volleyball career started to take off. As of today, it was the couples 4th anniversary. She was happy that Kuroo decided to take off the day early at 5, to which the reservation at the new fancy restaurant was at 7. Y/n decided to get there early to settle in on the menu first. To her surprised, it was 7:20 pm. He was still not there. She waited as people who looked so luxurious, and fancy staring at her with pitiful looks as if wondering why is a lonely women like Y/n sitting there. She felt embarrassed, at the fact that her 4 long year boyfriend didn't show up. "Excuse me?" Y/n calls out for the waiter. "Can I get the check?" She asked. "Of course, here you go." The waiter smile handing her the check, while Y/n payed and left.

Arriving home, she felt embarrassed. Unzipping the dress as it fell down to her knees. She grabbed a pair of shirts and pajama pants before heading to the bathroom, washing off the make up off. Y/n slowly walked down the stairs afterwards, meeting him in the hallway. "Where were you?" Y/n asked as she was barely near the brick of tears. "Tetsu... where were you?" She asked again, as Kuroo sighed and explained, "I was at work like always." He groaned in annoyance. "Did you forget that we had dinner reservations at 7?" Her eyebrows furrowed into anger. "Sorry that I missed the dinner, but listen. I was busy okay. You already know I'm busy." Kuroo continues. "That doesn't make up the chances of you skipping a special day for us!" She yelled as the anger raised up into the air. "I'm not doing this shit right now." Tetsuruo sighs. "You said that you'll be home by 5 to be able to go to dinner with me. But you lied. You lied Tetsu!" She cried, anger only slipping out of her mouth.

"It was just one mistaken missing. I'm sorry that I couldn't be able to go because I have a god damn fucking life. I'm sorry that I have to deal with practice every fucking day!" He yelled back. Frustration, anger, and nothing but annoyance filled his facials. "That doesn't mean anything Tetsu." She spoke on a softer tone. "I shouldn't even be apologizing. You should be great full enough that I spend my hard working money on you. I made sure there was food for you. I even made sure there was a roof for your dumbass to fucking live. I don't need to be going to every single fucking date or dinner reservations you set up!" He explained with venom. He kept ranting with so much anger and venom in his sense of tone. Until that certain little sob that slipped out of her mouth.

Kuroo paused from his words and looked up. Eyes widen to see tears that he cause on his lovers eyes. He took a step forward, only for her body to swift back. "Bab-" Y/n ran off to the shared bedroom before hearing his words. Silence was surrounding the atmosphere in the hallway. Kuroo fucked up. He was going isane at the moment. He was reviewing the words that broke his girlfriend's heart. He couldn't believe the fact that he broke the promise he made with her. Pulling out his phone to realize that it was June 16th. The day of their anniversary. The day they made it official as a couple. The day he promised to always be by her side and not hurt her. But, the day when he broke the promise and every bits of pieces in the relationship. Kuroo couldn't understand himself. He couldn't see why he didn't make the effort for the relationship. He just couldn't think a single thing to the reason why the situation is like this. Sighing to himself with guilt and regret building up, he finally made it to the shared bedroom. Opening the door to see his lover only hugging herself, fast asleep. He smiled for second, but it faded away, seeing the dried stripes of tears on her face.

The next morning happened to come around. It was tense the next morning, but to Y/n's surprise. She saw Kuroo home instead of volleyball practice. "Good morning," Tetsuruo smiled from the kitchen as to preparing breakfast for the two. "Are you hungry?" He asked. "Yeah." She replied shortly. She didn't understand why he was home instead of at work. "Baby," Tetsuruo started. "Hmm?" She hummed, with a peice of bread in her mouth. "If you're wondering why I'm not at work is because... I took the whole week off. I'm really sorry about what I said to you last night. I know I can't be forgiven about it, but I'm sorry, really sorry about skipping the anniversary date. Things got caught up that I lost track of time, and it slipped out of my mind." His voice cracked thinking about the way he's been treating her. "Tetsu.." Y/n called out. "I know I'm not the best boyfriend, but trust me. I'll be better. I promise, and I won't break this promise. I'll treat you better, even though I know for a fact that I don't deserve you." He cried. Y/n stood up, rushing over to him.

"Tetsu... you may be busy, but I felt lonely. I missed my tetsu. I missed the way he would come home early and on time for dinner to have with me. Fun fact, I felt embarrassed when I went to our reservation for our 4 year anniversary. But... I miss the most was you. My kuroo Tetsuruo. The man I love." She complies with a smile cupping his cheeks. "Tetsu. I know that things can get out of hand, but maybe next time communicate with me. Next time, tell me if practice is going to take a while for you, and that you'll come home late. I don't wanna have the feeling of being worried about you, and wondering if you've eaten or not. I wanna know what's happening so I could keep update on you. I'll forgive you, however, the trust that I put on you has broken. And you're going to have to bring it back if you wanted things to be settled down and good for us. I love you, I really do, but the trust isn't there anymore." Y/n softly said as to removing her hand away from his cheek.

"I'll get it back, I promise. I'll be the better person in our relationship. I promise princess." He hugged her. She smiled, her arms wrapping around the man and nuzzled her nose into the crook of his neck. "Let me make up on the missing anniversary date." He suggested, "okay." She whispered.

Girl's night outs with the other female shinigami wasn't anything spectacular however it was quite rare so there was a feeling of excitement in the air.

You approached the seated lieutenants, but as you sat you could see they were already a bit tipsy what with their flushed cheeks and giggling.

"Come sit!" Rangiku hurriedly said as she called out your name.

"I'm already sat dummy, what's up with you?" You snickered, amused.

"We were just talking about the Eleventh Division. I hear they don't...even shower!" Isane cackled, thumping the bar and causing the cups to shake.

"The smell must be crazy." Rangiku cackled, tears forming.

You snorted.

Well, it wasn't exactly a farfetched theory that the Eleventh Division didn't prioritize cleanliness. However, you knew for a fact, Fifth Seat Ayasegawa of all people didn't fit with that rumor.

Speak of the devil, the familiar orange turtleneck and plush feathers came into your eyesight as he angrily stomped off.

"Yumichika!" Ikakku cried out, following after him.

"We do shower, I'll have you know!" Ikakku barked, jabbing his finger at the three of you.

"...Together?" Rangiku questioned, cocking a brow in an attempt to rile him up even more.

Ikkaku's eyes widened and his cheeks burned scarlet.

"That's none of your business!" He stuttered, then chased after Yumichika.

"Well, it's nice to see some love birds in the Seireitei, huh?" You remarked after he'd left.

"Slim pickings I suppose." Rangiku sighed, as she stretched her arms.

"That is so not true." You responded. "There's so much eye candy here, Rangiku! You don't see it?"

"Yeah, cos you're a newbie. Few decades and you get bored." She said, glancing at the entrance where other shinigami passed by on patrol.

"What about you, Isane? Anybody catch your eye?"

"Not really. People show their true colors when they're admitted to the infirmary. And it is not a pretty sight." She sighed. "What about you, Y/N?"

"Hm...now you put me on the spot I'm not sure."

A memory popped into your head.

"...Abarai." You finally answered, lips curving into a smile.

Your response was met with clamoring and gasps.

"Hey! What's wrong with him?" You questioned, taken aback by their reaction.

"He's so.."

"Well, let's just say you had an unconventional choice." Nanao stated as she pushed the bridge of her glasses up her nose.

"Yeah right. You guys are just so picky. No pleasing you." You folded your arms in defiance, defending your choice. "Those luscious red locks, those eyebrows. One day I passed by the Sixth Division's barracks and he was shirtless...sweat trickling down his abs and those tats..."

"Easy there, Juliet." Rangiku giggled. "Don't leave the chair soaking wet."

"Rangiku!" You hissed at her crudeness.

Soon enough, you and the ladies took your leave. The booth was jam-packed with the male lieutenants who had been keeping as quiet as church mice to eavesdrop.

Shuhei grasping at his roots with his unrequited crush on Rangiku, Renji blushing so hard his cheeks matched his hair at your statement, Tetsuzaemon thumping the table and Izuru side-eyeing them all.

"God damn it!" Tetsuzaemon groaned. "Why do all the ladies think so lowly of us? Hell, I wasn't even an option!"

"You lucky thing, Abarai." Shuhei sniffled. "You better go get the girl."

Renji's face scrunched up in embarrassment.

"I wouldn't even know where to start!" He cried out.

"I'm sure it's less complicated than you're making it out to be." Izuru snarked.

"Yeah! She already thinks you're a stud, just make a move on her. Simple!" Tetsuzaemon cried out.

"Lieutenant Abarai, can I help you?" You asked, a little confused as to why he had been loitering around the entrance of the Third Division barracks for almost ten minutes.

"Yeah! Uh, I wanted to ask you something." He responded, with a nervous chuckle.

"Me?" You questioned, with an incredulous stare.

"Yes, you." He swallowed, thickly. You acting clueless was making his stomach harden. He knew he hadn't misheard you.

He let out an exhale.

"I was at the tea house yesterday, and I overheard you and the other lieutenants." He muttered, cheeks heating up as he struggled to meet your eyes.

You just stared at him and you were sure you could hear glass shattering in your mind.

You wanted the ground to swallow you up, whole.

There was absolutely no way you were thirsting over Renji in public and he had heard every word you said.

This was a nightmare for sure.

Your face was aghast but you know for the preservation of your dignity you had to do something dishonest.

“Really? Maybe that was somebody else.” You said as you shrugged nonchalantly.

“No, no. I’m sure it was you.” He said, with an uneasy laugh.

“Did you see me say that?” You questioned, voice firm as you intently stared into his eyes.

Renji was staring at you as if you lost your mind. Then let out a scoff.

“You’re right. I had to be out of my mind to think a girl like you would be into a guy like me.” He said, a little defeatedly then turned to make his way out.

You felt a pang of guilt strike you. You didn’t mean for that to happen.

“Renji, wait!” You cried out as you clamped a hand around his wrist.

“Hm?” His eyes furrowed together in bewilderment at your reaction.

“I’m sorry I lied…you did hear me at the tea house! I just...I was humiliated..” You trailed off, struggling to make a valid excuse.

His face broke into a smile as he gave out a hearty laugh.

“Caught ya..!”

“Huh?!”

“That feelin’ sorry for myself act got you real good!” He exclaimed, then threw an arm around you pulling you in.

“Ugh, Renji!” You groaned in irritation, swatting him away. “That’s low!”

“Not as low as you trying to convince me I got a screw loose or somethin’!” He shot back, keeping his grip around you. “The look on your face was priceless!”

You rolled your eyes.

“Gloat while you can.” You muttered under your breath.

“Ah, don’t worry. I think you’re pretty easy on the eyes too y’know..” He said, lowly as he tilted your chin upwards. “I’ll let you know the next time I’m working out so you can be front row.”

“Move!”

She’d be caught dead of a soul like Kisuke decided to walk up the steps to (Y/n)’s flat and saw the Captain of Squad Four clad in a human’s kimono. One that was more . . . unnatural to the skin and didn’t fit her body the way she wanted. And then Kisuke would laugh if he dared to do so in front of her face. He’d laugh while pointing his cane at the poutful look her face was stuck in. 

Retsu was confident that no one would ever catch her in their human world. Not Ichigo or any of his friends. Until she learnt of (Y/n) being the only one close to their age —almost— and working in the only university’s admin department. That had made her . . . someone whose name was called everywhere she went and then waved at.

Like the diligent ryoka they are. Ichigo and his friends would definitely ask around.

So, to avoid that, Retsu slumped her head on the locked door and knocked her fist again. “(Y/n)?” 

“(Y/n)?” She allowed herself another pout when it was unanswered, her hair falling in front of her face. Almost a defeated soul, she forced herself to turn around and stopped again when she heard tired footsteps dragging themselves on the stairs.

Quick to run to (Y/n), Retsu stretched her arms out for (Y/n) to fall in to her embrace without question. “Tired my dear?”

Kimonos made by humans aside, human-packaged food was an unexpected pleasure Unohana fell in love with. Heated food, not hot enough to hurt the human tongue packaged in a plastic container and available to be taken off shelves . . .something that had her thinking what if Mayuri’s mind invented such a thing rather than changing zanpakuto genders*. (*Reference to the Shingami shorts at the end of every bleach episode.)

“You expected me?” She asked through a mouthful of Chicken croquette, chopsticks pointed at the stack of other packaged food (Y/n) put on an empty chair.

“I wish.” She sighed and motioned to the bag fat with papers she took home with her.  “Substitute soul reaper’s going to university now.” Standing up to throw her empty box on her way to her bathroom, Unohana quickly swallowed what she chewed to follow (Y/n).

She stood behind (Y/n) scorched over the running water, collecting water in her cupped hands. “Is university like the soul academy?” Asked Retsu fingers combing through (Y/n)’s hair as her eyes scanned the counter for a comb, running water muffling her voice.

Retsu’s used to the many screams of agony, especially the type from her zanpakuto. She’d lived long enough to be unphased by it. And she loves (Y/n) enough that a scream from nowhere worried her.

Rather than an answer when their eyes met on the mirror, (Y/n) pressed her face on the blue towel and—“AHHHH”

“Heard one of the students tell their friends they do that, tried it last month. It works wonders.”

“You should’ve sent a call,” said Retsu, taking a mental note to check on the messenger butterflies at she put on (Y/n)’s window ledge.

“They can handle themselves, I trust Isane that much.”

“You’re captain there—” at the feeling of her fingers scratching her scalp, (Y/n) sighed into her touch. “Please keep doing that.”

Cracking an eye open, (Y/n) wanted to remind her of the time Retsu sighed so much because of Isane’s anxious demeanour.

“I needed to see my favourite human,” dipping her fingers in the moisturiser, she offered a smile to calm (Y/n)’s mind down. “My mind was telling me to come see you . . . my instincts told me I was right.”

“Stay longer this time please.”

God you hated this room.

Which was a little ungrateful to say when Isane had so graciously give you your own quarters. It was much relief that you didn’t have to share the space with other shinigami screaming with pain t as someone shoved medicine down their throats. But even with your own room you couldn't help but scrunch your nose in distaste. Because everywhere in the 4th division smelled exactly the same.

Like blood and bitter herbs.

By this time you should have gotten used to it. After all, you had long crossed the line that demarcated being clumsy, from being just plain unfortunate. Over your years as a lieutenant you had found yourself in the 4th division so much, that your own 3rd seat thought you had real thoughts of transferring.

Most of the time it wasn't your fault, like the one time you accidentally fell into one of Mayuri's experiments, or when one of Mayuri's experiments 'accidentally' fell on you. Or when you got commander Yamamoto an old-age home pamphlet (obviously captain Kyoraku thought it was a great idea).

So this time when you got sprayed with deadly poison, you begged Isane to just give you an ointment for the rash and let you go back to the 1st division. But obviously, she just brought you back here. Looking at the blisters up your thighs, Captain Unohana had agreed it was better to keep you under supervision for the night.

You sighed, being this accident-prone, meant division 4 was your second home. Not one you liked all that much, but home nonetheless.

To brighten your mood, Isane had really tried her best. Even now as she had tucked you in the futon tightly with fresh sheets. She had even put a vase of bellflowers beside your bed. Although with you in a white shroud and the flowers, the arrangement looked a little like a funeral offering. You groaned out in defeat, staring up at the wooden ceiling, the bitter aftertaste of the medicine curling in your mouth. If only this division smelled nicer, you thought, like freshly baked bread, or rain.... or fallen cherry blossoms.

You blushed with the sudden thought. Embarrassed at how easily you thought of him. It was like your mind had decided to torment you even more. Just the thought of the gorgeous man making your cheeks burn and toes curl. It was anything but appropriate to think of your superior that way, but thinking about his beauty was the only relief in such a sickly environment. You couldn't help let your mind wander.

You were always surprised by how mundane the afterlife was. There was nothing peaceful or magical about it, they still had violence and war and school. Even the Shinigami, the literal gods of death were not at all like the ones you had read about in literature on earth. Everyone here was very human. Everyone but him.

Captain Byakuya embodied everything haunting about death. The kind of Shinigami that seemed to have rolled off the canvas of an ink painting. He carried that kind of grace everywhere, from the smallest of his gestures to right into battle. A kind of refinement honed into nobility. You had always admired him as a character from a painting, gliding across a scroll, beautiful yet far removed from your own reality. Unyielding and unreachable, a god of death in every sense.

The first time you had seen him was when you were still in the soul academy. You were so star-struck at his elegance that you had sworn to yourself that you would become a soul reaper like him. Obviously, that was not how things turned out.

If anything, you were the absolute opposite of him. Without a shred of grace, the only time he had even looked at you was when you were having one of your clumsy streaks. Quick glances of exasperation as you tripped over yourself, either dousing Soi-fon in squid ink or bumping into an unsuspecting Toshiro.

Sometimes you wished that's all there was to your relationship. But all your reports had to be made directly to either Captain Byakuya or Renji himself. So you ended up working close to him most of the time. Somehow finding yourself in embarrassing situations with the captain even more than you found yourself in division 4.

The worst was when you were helping Renji find some damn artifact. You had tried to reach for something across your desk just as the captain looked for a scroll on the wall behind you. Your hip brushed against what you really hoped was his thigh and he had jerked backward so fast, that he crashed into the bookshelf behind him burying both of you under a debris of books.

All you did was apologize profusely and run away at full speed. Leaving a very confused Renji and a completely flustered captain behind.

You cringed at the memory. What was the point of your stupid heart racing around him? He probably just thought of you as a klutz that brought ill luck everywhere.

Especially after today. You thought bitterly.

Just the thought of how the poison had gotten on you in the first place made you want to cry. You closed your eyes just as there was a knock on the door.

"Get in Isane." you grumbled out, sure that it was her appearing for another check-up. You heard the sliding door open and cautious footsteps come in.

“Just how much trouble do you think he’ll have to go through to get another vial of poison from Mayuri?” You asked her, eyes still lidded.

“I don’t even want to think about the costs of it all” You sighed out before she could answer. “Stupid Renji couldn’t have picked someplace else to practice.”

This time you were practicing with Renji. Neither of you had expected Captain Byakuya to be around at the same time. Of course, Renji horribly misfired his Kido spell, which you should have easily dodged. But it sent you crashing into a very surprised Captain Kuchiki. If only that was the end of it, but you two tumbled head-first into a koi fish pond. The fall cracking Mayuri’s vial of poison that Byakuya was supposed to be sending back to the lab.

Not only had you completely embarrassed yourself, and given all the koi fish PTSD, your clumsiness had also destroyed a potentially irreplaceable object that Byakuya was responsible for. He was sure top bear the brunt for damaging it, and to ask Mayuri for a favor? Drinking the poison straight would have been less dangerous.

How could you even meet his gaze after something like that?

Isane seemed uncharacteristically quiet. But her silence only made you ramble even more. “After all, he’s so dignified and patient. He must already find me insufferable, and after what happened today.” Your voice trailed off as you groaned into your pillow.

“After this he must hate me.” You lamented.

Isane coughed awkwardly instead of responding. You finally peeked an eye open, ready to start talking again, only to jerk awake on realizing who it was.

"C-captain!" You exclaimed.

Sure enough, the captain of the 6th division stood before you. Eyebrows already knit together in annoyance. You tried to sit up awkwardly, Fucking Isane couldn't even give you a heads up?

He was so tall that he had to lower his head to avoid hitting the doorframe. His dark eyes as unreadable as ever, a hand pressed into the hilt of senbonzakura.

"I see you are well" He stated flatly. From the tone of his voice, you couldn’t tell if he was expressing concern or sarcasm. But your heart still leaped at his voice.

“y-yes.” You replied, eyes already wandering away from his frame. Why couldn’t it be drunk kyoraku who had come to check up on you instead.

"You didn't have to come all the way here Captain." You added sheepishly, it felt like a parent had come to chastise their troublesome child.

You watched his expression grow more confused at your words, "Of course I had to." he said before he could catch himself.

The hopeful look on your face made the room spin around him. It was a little pathetic how easily you had that effect on him. And what was worse was that you didn’t even have the slightest idea that you did that to him. Byakuya tried to find his footing again.

"As the captain and the head of the Kuchiki clan it's only appropriate that I check up on you," he replied bluntly. He felt his insides squeeze at the way your face fell slightly.

Your 'oh' was sad, it made him want to slap himself for not wording it better.

"Ofcourse." You said, "A form of propriety." Shrugging off the possibility that it was anything else at all.

There was a moment of silence as Byakuya fought to keep a straight face.

"It's... Not just for propriety." Byakuya admitted. "I felt... responsible." He tried again. "Concerned even, for your... Condition."

You tried to calm your thrashing heart. If you’re any louder, he’s going to hear it. Not knowing how to react to his words exactly.

Byakuya broke the silence again.

“Hold out your arm.” He said stoically

You straightened up like a soldier given a command. Byakuya cringed at himself internally, what could he have said to sound kinder? He thought to himself.

“May I Please see your arm?”

“If I may-“

“Can you please move your arm?”

“Please marry me”  

He sat down beside you, annoyed at himself. The truth was he felt more than just responsible for you.

You had just been there sparring with Renji, body moving with languid grace as you dodged his kido spell. And He couldn’t help but stop and stare. Too dazed at how your lips set in the smallest pout as you called his lieutenant names. To say the least, he was VERY distracted. Despite knowing how urgent the matter with Mayuri was, he couldn’t take his eyes off of you. He had become too lost in your playful sparing. So much so that he lost his own balance as you suddenly crashed into him. The next thing he felt was the cold of the water and your frame pressed up against him.

The bottle he was carrying cracked under the pressure of your bodies. With a morbid hiss, the deadly contents spilled out, dousing you.  

And Gods, the smell, of flesh burning. Although you said you were fine, he knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep until-

His dark eyes pinned on the long sleeve of your white kimono. Well, until he saw for himself.

Byakuya had felt his stomach drop as your face had contorted with pain. In that moment he had expected the worst, knowing that he would never be able to forgive himself if this actually hurt you.

His gaze was anything but stern. You would even contest that it was actually worry that reflected in the captain's eyes. But you didn’t realize how bright red his ears burned as he did sit down beside you.

You peeled your eyes away from his fingers as he lifted the sleeve of the white dress Isane had given you, his long fingers circling your arm. His actions were cautious as if expecting a scarred mass of skin, but the more of your arm he revealed, the more relieved he was that he hadn't marred your arms.

You knew the poison wouldn't really affect you, the healing ability of your zanpakuto would take care of that easily. But you realised he still wanted to make sure.

The touch was uncharacteristically gentle.

You couldn't help but blush. Once satisfied his fingers reached to inspect your bicep. The poison had splashed into the right side of your body, across your limbs. The sleeve of your black kimono had sizzled as the cloth burned from the toxin. Just remembering the incident made him feel bitter.

For you to think he even had it in him to hate you. All he really wanted to do was cradle you to division 4 himself. To have you cave into his touch instead of flinching away like you had made a mistake. In that moment Byakuya just felt tired. So tired and sick of the misunderstood, unbending man they had honed him into. Tired of the falsehood of it all. Because he would give anything for you to not be so formal with him.

As his thoughts raged on, his fingers lingered on your skin a little longer than he wanted them to. 

You couldn't help but hold your breath, the moment was so vulnerable, so delicate that you felt as though the slightest movement would shatter it. The entirety of it you couldn’t understand either, but you wanted to hold this moment for as long as you could.

Suddenly the innocent touch seemed to burn into your skin. All of a sudden you were very aware of where you two were, how close he was to you. Your breath shallowed as his thumb rang along a fading battle scar. The captain retreated his fingers at once, noticing how easily your reatsu fluctuated.

The ghost of his touch lingered on your skin. He gave out an awkward cough, snapping you out of your trance.

"Captain, exactly how much trouble will I get in for this?" You asked finally, dreading his answer already. If the punishment was re-arranging scrolls in the 5th division again, you would much rather challenge Kenpachi to a duel, for some God damn reason, Captain Aizen made your blood run cold.

“Lieutenant,” he stopped you, “Why would you still think I was here to reprimand you?”

Your face fell, the bitterness of the room catching up to you again, "Because I was the one who messed up for everyone."

Byakuya couldn’t help but frown, "And what makes you think that?"

You looked at him like it was obvious, "just today!” you exclaimed, “ I completely ruined the practice area, everyone had to be evacuated and the fall made you lose one of your hairpins in the pond-“ you shook your head, “I’m just bad luck to be around.”

“Y/n” he cut you off, shaking his head.

Your heart skipped a beat. You had never heard him call you by your first name.

“I wish you weren’t this hard on yourself.” He said,

“You are…” He started.

His heart ached to think how little you thought of yourself. If only he could tell you how much light and life you bring to him. If only he knew how to actually show you how much you affect him- If his words would be any consolation to you, he didn’t care about the propriety he had to uphold. Just say it.

“You are a good soul reaper.” He said failing miserably.

Byakuya averted his eyes, you are a hopeless Idiot. He thought to himself.

In the moments that followed his words, you were almost stunned. Letting the weight of what he has actually said settle in your mind. Getting almost teary-eyed from just the relief that you hadn’t actually disappointed the captain you respected so much.

“So you aren’t angry with me?” You asked weakly, shifting so that you could sit hugging your knees.

Byakuya sighed, a feverish blush covering his face, “I’m not.” He told you. “Y/n- I-, about what you said earlier.” He continued.

After this he must hate me.

“I need you to know that I could never-

"Y/N!~" Isane's chirpy voice called out suddenly. You jumped.

Your leg jerked up with you and before you could stop it, your knee hit Byakuya square in the face.

"Oh my god!" you screamed as he clamped his fingers on his nose. Groaning in pain as he shuffled backward. 

"Captain, I-I'm SO SORRY" you wailed out, scurrying over to inspect the damage. But the man just held up a hand, almost flinching away from you. He threw his head back, blinking furiously through the pain.

Great now you have blinded him.

Isane ran inside, wincing he pulled his fingers from his face, allowing her to inspect. A stream of blood ran down his face.

"Clearly you're back to your usual strength," he spoke through the pain. “I shall take your leave then.” He said. The two of you watched as he hurried outside and you groaned out loudly into your pillow.

"There there-" Isane said patting your back, "It could have been worse."

Oh yes, you wanted to tell her, every time you think you are done embarrassing yourself in front of him, you somehow outdo yourself.

Like five people are calling her name, a new batch of patients are being wheeled in, and the kiss and smile you leave her with is enough to keep her from coming undone.

She gets so into her imagination during make out sessions that she’ll start giggling and moaning, thinking up all the things she’d like you to do and say to her. “Hehe, don’t say that~” Once you get used to it, it’s better to go along. Go ahead; ask her. Don’t say what? And she can’t help but become a puddle of blushing mess as she reluctantly recalls her vivid makeout daydream.

Is a bit shy when it comes to getting felt up during makeout sessions. She still has a lot of anxious feelings regarding her body and struggles with body image still. Pepper in compliments and reassurance that you love her however she’s most comfortable; she doesn’t need stop binding her chest or continue to do so for you or anyone.
