thinking about how dean’s character gets simplified in fandom, or more specifically, the very black and white lens that gets applied to him. because integral to dean, from my point of view, is that he is both a victim of abuse and a perpetrator of it. that these two things do not cancel each other out or outweigh each other to the point that only one matters. he’s both, you cannot separate him from the fact that he’s both.
but very often, people do. dean is either a victim. or he’s an abuser. it’s like it’s hard for people to hold both those facts in their heads at once. dean went through incredible amount of trauma as a child and an adult, is routinely faced with violence, has resorted to alcohol abuse to cope with it. he’s also a violent person, someone who retreats into tactics of emotional abuse and control when he feels threatened, who hurts the people around him constantly and the people who are closest to him (ie Sam, Cas, later Jack) get the brunt of that abuse. these are just facts. they’re things that happened on the screen and cannot be denied.
and it’s. idk it’s weird to me (not unexpected, because he’s hardly the only character to ever get this treatment) that dean of all people is the one portrayed in such an either/or way when one of the defining moments of the show for him is that during his stint in Hell, he was tortured and then became a torturer to escape that, to feel like he had some control again, and he relished in it. it’s baked into who he is.
#dean as a victim of abuse who goes on to continue those behaviors is still important to me surprise surprise#i didnt want to put this in the main post but also. from observation. when people start projecting onto him This Gets Worse#because. you know. as noted before: big fandom - lots of queer & neurodivergent people here.#tend to be targetted by abuse. statistically.#and mix that with a character you can project heavily upon. one you can project queer/neurodivergent hcs on even.#then like! understandably stressful to reckon with him being canonically kind of shitty sometimes! no one wants to consider their own#potential for shittiness - not even through a character they just heavily relate to!#(note: opposite happens as well. people project onto sam -> see dean hurt sam -> block out the idea that dean could be just as much victim#as he is abuser. its just. easier like that.)#anyway. none of this is like. a crime. just an observation. really we get all our biases from the society we live in — a society obsessed#with perfect victims and evil unredeemable abusers.#all that stuff leaks into fandom takes whether we want it to or not#dean winchester#spn

Thinking about the fact that A.B.A's creator (I wanna call him Dr. Paracelsus to differentiate him from key Paracelsus) could very well still be alive out there somewhere, cause he wasn't said to have been killed, he was just taken by a military organization (?!) for his skills-
And while I don't think they ever confirmed a connection, it feels like almost too obvious that he'd be in some way tied to the creation of Frasco II, given that it's called Frasco II

You once said "how do we know Macky wasn't trapped in a time loop for his afterlife and that's why he's like that" and the Ten Kings of Hell were shown with the Scroll of Memory which does basically that, so you may have been onto something, and I know we mostly attribute memory manip to LBD but if they have the scroll then they may have done so to Macky instead making him relive some messed up AU of his fight with SWK in hopes he'd be angry enough to take kill SWK for his impermissible immortality.
cool thing about lmk is that they lean on the fact that “maybe your memory is lying to you” and show it with LBD and the Samadhi Fire and the Brotherhood and the memory scroll and MK’s own memory

The way that my friend felt disappointed when he found out as a kid that an androgynous character he idolized was a woman because he quote "couldn't relate to the character anymore" and the way that the creator of Celeste """discovered he was non-binary""" because he wrote a female character that he was able to relate to are branches off of the same vein of misogyny I think
#gender critical#misogyny#it's all about the often-subconscious belief that women are subhuman or at least inherently lesser than men for being different from them#for the first dude: literally every woman on earth who consumes media relates to so fucking many male characters. they are our favorites.#some of them are so beloved by us that we believe we must actually be men because we can relate so hard to them. i went through this myself#(which is kind of what's going on with the second dude but i'll get to that)#yet for some reason a lot of men have a hard time relating to female characters in any way similar at all. there are zero men writing#obsessive (affectionate) thoughtful intelligent analyses of their favorite female charas' arcs and symbolism#(in part because so few media have any well-written and actually-humanized female charas to be able to do that with but also...)#because men see women as possibly-human fuck toys for them and nothing else#so when even self-proclaimed/usually feminist men relate to a female character outside of 'i want to fuck this' it makes them feel weird#bc male sexuality (this includes osa men i'm sorry to say but i've observed so many men like an anthropologist i see the same behavior#in all of them) is so centered around humilation/domination/aggression that it's not compatible with compassion/empathy#so for them to relate to a female (character or person) they get this weird-feeling psychological thing kinda similar to that joke of#'if you punch yourself and it hurts are you weak or strong?' but in this case it's 'if you relate to a sex object should you start thinking#you're also a sex object or should you let go of your momentary empathy for the sex object?'#and dude no. 1 took the latter path while dude no. 2 took the former#well in a way. his thing is more like 'if i am a human (bc i'm a man) and i can relate to a woman... does that mean women are human#or does it mean i am a woman?' and he picked the second route#i know agp vs hsts is (was?) the main grouping system radfems use(d?) to explain the different types of tims#and to some extent those labels do work especially since they're centered around sexuality which plays a huge role in trans identities#but i feel like it's either more accurate to just use the following labels or at least add them into the venn diagram:#some tims are trans because they see women as sex toys and enjoy the thought of being a sex toy themselves therefore they want to be women#while other tims are trans because they've othered the sex-object class of humans so hard that if they ever accidentally relate to a woman#it's a mindblowing discovery and makes them part of The Other (women are still of course treated as The Other for this to work) and#therefore super special (and of course more special than women because they're sex objects + The Other whereas#he is a man aka a human + The Other. this is especially true when men decide they're nb like guy no. 2 as opposed to trans women because#again women = sex toy to men so any men who do not want to be objectified are a different kind of Other to women [which to them consists of#females and trans women] but they still are The Other in some way and therefore must be both a man [human] and something else)#these concepts appeal to both osa and ssa men depending on what level/flavor of misogyny they cling to most and how gnc they are

#Every day I refresh my tabs and every day I scream internally#Right now I'm betting on us either getting a trailer for the new episodes or a movie/game with It as the main draw OR#Or we are getting a first look at the new opening#I don't know what else could be a special announcement because I would think premiering an episode early would be a mess schedule-wise#So a trailer for a movie/game/the next few episodes would make sense#But also the new opening has been in the works for months at this point. So this would be the perfect time to show it#Cruddy rambles#I'm trying to maintain my expectations to 'I will be disappointed if I expect the best scenario'#But also being realistic in what this special announcement is and what they're gonna show#I really think it will be a trailer or the new opening. i feel bad for any pmmm fan following me just now bc like i love literally everything ive read and watched so far except for magireco and thats what im watching rn
#should play more portable to even that out#actually i still have no idea what the fandom consensus on the magireco anime is#i feel like ive barely seen content relating to the actual plot#my main issues are just that theres wayyyy too many characters to keep up with#and also that the plot feels like it was written by someone who thought kyubey had a point#and that the girls are indeed stupid and weak for making contracts and wanting to not be witches#when. ik people complain about that in the main anime but that was all demonized in the original#kyubey was. pretty blatantly in the wrong and the girls do make bad choices and hurt each other sure#but its because of their own situation and that theyre all pitted against each other bc of the system#and also kyubey literally preys on them at their worst moments like he gets sayaka despite her rejecting#he pressures madoka into it like he doesnt have a point hes just interested in exploiting the girls#and the ending of the anime is basically madoka getting a one up on him and going ''fuck you i WILL change our fate''#rewriting the literal laws of the world to save girls everywhere#and then magireco shits on that and goes ''ok but like girls who dont want to be witches are weak bitches lmao''#''oh yachiyo is a girlboss and a hardass because she sucks it up and accepts it while mifuyu is pathetic#because she has the audacity to not want to fight until she dies or becomes a monster to be tortured#also yachiyo mocks her and calls her weak for this and while she regrets it mifuyu reaffirms that shes right and a boss unlike her#shes a GOOD magical girl who knows she fucked up and owns up to it while mifuyu is a wimp. this is good writing.''#like the fact that they had to twist and bend the magias to be a cult and do these horrifying things to justify the whole#''oh the fate of us sucks but trying to escape it is the cowards way out'' thing#which like. yeah im sure thats the point but they keep hammering in that yachiyo is a girlboss for her stance basically#god. the climax of this better save this for me lol. the action is good the editing is good#its just the writing makes me want to eat rocks#echoed voice

#ffxiv#its so funny...the echo writes language out of the equation for us but not our pals#like being generous and assuming a) all of aldenard speaks either one language#or are closely related enough to be mutually intelligible#and then the same with all the othardian languages#or that most garlean colonies had garlean language enforced + its become something of a lingua franca#so any hingans we meet would know it#and MAYBE there was enough influence from the exarch on the first to influence the language there towards mutual intelligibility#BUT I DOUBT IT#to be clear theyre the nerd squad I don't doubt it#its just funny that obviously the writers wrote it out for the main characters and then just. decided not to ever consider it again#i guess if we really wanna go there#we could say that since allag had such a wide reach all modern language are in part descended from allagan#but that was like. 3000 years ago. thats a lot of time for linguistic deift#once more. im not calling it unrealistic.

EAT BUG is a really short game (about 15-20 minutes to get all endings) that is meant as an introduction to the DOLOR DIVUS universe :3c EAT BUG is only a tiny fragment of the plot though!
you play as a little guy and you eat bug (maybe even search for bug...) (...and more!), it's an expanded game version of a nonsensical "comic" i made back in 2020 ^_^
the game itself is very simple but it has deeper lore behind it, it doesn't get very deep into the lore and future projects i have planned will deffo clear things up and show the bigger picture ^_^
