i wonder if anyone has ever made a danny phantom and the world ends with you crossover?

both series focus around death and how it affects people(moreso fanon in dp's case but i digress), so i think the concept of the infinite realms and the underground and real ground, plus the implied other layers(grounds?), could fit together nicely. infinite realms are called that for a reason after all, and a big reason why danny phantom (the concept) can crossover with so much other media.

and yes, obviously shibuya and illinois(?) are really seriously far apart, so how could the characters possibly interact? simple; the fentons go yokai hunting for the summer.

jack and maddie for some reason deduce yokai are real(debatable) and must be from the ghost zone. so they go on a vacation to japan to hunt them down, dragging their kids with them because it is a vacation after all.

through whatever circumstances, danny and jazz meet and interact with the twewy characters. danny definitely notes them as "dead-adjacent", while jazz clocks them as all needing serious therapy, which like "Yeah! We know! Our trauma is Special™!". but she has experience with dealing with her brother and his "death trauma"(which he vehemently denies having). also i think it would be funny if danny was able to bounce back and forth between the rg and ug, actively bullying reapers.

Has anyone thought about a 2012 apocalyptic future x Rise apocalyptic future crossover? 🤔

I know this fandom goes wild for future Rise boys x present Rise boys ‘crossovers’ and same for 2012 x Rise crossovers but now I’m really curious to see how the adult turtles from 2012 and then Rise would interact and compare notes when sharing war stories…

One of my reactors on Patreon just reacted to the Mutant Apocalypse arc that I have refused to watch again since it came out because ouch trauma, especially since I thought that was supposed to be the actual ending 🥲

But it makes me realizing when comparing that the 2012 boys didn’t even get to stay together like Rise did, and the Kraang successfully killed all the humans in the mutagen explosion.

The Rise guys at least got to stay together until each one died, but they also had to spend the entire apocalypse still fighting. Which makes it seem like 2012’s predicament is less horrible since their main concern is finding resources and survival, but if you think about that too, in Rise, even though they were fighting so long, the chance/opportunity to kill the Kraang and fix everything was actually an option all that time. They had lasting hope, however fragile and wavering. For 2012 all that stuff seemed pretty permanent. The desert wasteland and civilization gone as it once was… Not only that but they already lost the entirety of the human species which could never come back.

And now that I’m really thinking about it, there are no Kraang around in the post apocalyptic desert, so were they somehow destroyed in that mutagen explosion too, or did the remaining survivors of Earth somehow kill off the Kraang at some point? More likely, maybe after seeing the miserable wasteland that earth became, the Kraang left to go back to Dimension X or start over somewhere else with another planet. Unclear whether the mutagen bomb didn’t work how they wanted it to or maybe after the turtles interfering so much they just wanted to destroy the planet completely as vengeance and move on somewhere else

Now, in both worlds it’s mostly yokai/mutants left as the main population, either left fighting the fight or all the mutants just left surviving. The turtles’ kind became the mainstream population which is a lot to unpack. Despite being mutants and turtles living underground their lifestyles are so derived from how humans lived. Both their Splinter’s were once human and now their former species is (nearly) gone…

I also find the differences in how each group progressed in growing pretty interesting. The Rise turtles got to grow how they were supposed to for the most part, save for Mikey’s advanced aging and if you want to include Leo’s prosthetic arm later on. Whereas, the 2012 turtles vary much more differently in physical form than they’re supposed to and in comparison to each other:

Donnie’s a cyborg with only his human brain left, his body still resembling his teenage body rather than his much older current age

Mikey just barely grew at best, and practically mirrors Rise Mikey’s physical state, unfortunately 2012 didn’t keep his sanity 100% in tact though

And Leonardo was almost completely deformed from taking the brunt of the mutagen bomb and becomes absolutely freaking huge. Like probably bigger than Rise Raph huge

Raph seems to be the only one who grew in (comparatively) the least abnormal and most healthy way, resembling what the rest of his brothers would’ve likely grown to appear as had they not had the different health complications/deformities. He also resembles his Rise counterpart’s body build the most. I know many speculate Rise Raph would’ve only kept getting bigger and bigger as they transitioned into adulthood, and it seems 2012 follows that track as well with how large and aged he is

Not to mention their varying mental health… My god. Again, poor Mikey partially lost his mind, and even though he did have Chompy and Ice Cream Kitty to keep him company all those years it still takes a toll on the psyche to not have anyone around to actually converse with for so long. Out of all his brothers Mikey’s definitely seems like the one to need social contact the most for stability.

Raph can’t remember much of anything from their past life because of the mutagen blast. As far as we can tell he remembers enough about his brothers to see them as such, but we also know he doesn’t even remember Master Splinter, his own father who he knew since infancy

Leo completely lost who he was and forgot who his brothers were, not only that but becoming the very thing that is the complete antithesis of who he is: a villain. One that was rather similar to Shredder at that. And we can’t forget yet another parallel where he almost killed his little brother because he didn’t even know/remember who his little brother was

Donnie seems mostly the same at least when it comes to mental health and keeping a grip on reality, but I’d really like to know his true feelings on losing his physical body and becoming an android. They make it seem like it must not bother him much, and teenage Donnie pre-apocalypse might even find the idea really cool, but we saw how it affected Fugitoid and once that becomes a reality it’s a whole unavoidable mind fuck

Ack. Now I can’t get this out of my head. The adult apocalypse versions of these guys would have so much to talk about and honesty I think meeting more counterparts—especially from apocalyptic timelines —would be such a great comfort to both groups. With how much each side has lost having more family that survived would be a welcomed thing.

I’d love to see some other people or artists’ takes on this because holy crap the potential these apocalyptic universes have in meeting each other is freaking atomic, highly flammable, freaking radioactive

I like to think in yokai society a pair of seers is a common enough occurrence that it's known about in legendary but still rare enough thay only two seers are born every few generations. Sorta like how Hailey's Comet is only seen like once every 80 years or something a pair of seers is only born once every *insert long period of time* so it's a known occurrence but very few people get to meet them and the very little is known about them as a result amd it's almost unheard of for two sets of seers to be alive around the same period of time

Yes. I do think Seers would be exceptionally rare to the point of maybe only having one set at a time (like buffy and the slayer business goes) or only one set every couple hundred years.

BUT! That being said, i am sort of tempted to rig it in a way that Sara and Kara are actually present in this au. (mostly b/c i very much think Kara and Donnie would be able to help each other a lot, and become pretty good friends doing it. Sara and Leo too but, idk, i feel like Kara and Donnie would benefit more somehow.)

Like i could make it work! The turtles weren't born through normal means, they were mutated, which could easily throw off any sort of mystic system that decides who gets those powers.

The only thing stopping me is that it would put this firmly into crossover territory, which isn't bad in general, it's just...doing even a vague crossover with a show i haven't watched (or really thought much of) in 10-15 years isn't exactly on my to-do list.

But yes, if Sara and Kara did end up being around, they would definitely text Leo and Donnie about seer stuff. (Sara excitedly texting leo that "I'm getting kidnapped again today!!" with a lot of cute emojis, as leo's just like "Sweet! Want us to pick you up?". While Donnie texts Kara like "Just saw my little brother is going to plan a surprise party for me. Guess i'm not going to be surprised. So, since you've been enjoying the newest version of TMNT, I have to ask:

1) Have you seen the older Turtles Forever movie, a Turtles version of spiderverse.

2) Did you know there was a live action show of TMNT and they had a 2 episode crossover on an older Power Rangers show.

3) Also on that live action show they introduced a controversial female turtle. Which reminds me, I saw on YouTube that in a recent run of TMNT comics they brought back the 5th turtle as a possible clone/Frankenstein creation and in this comic, one of the Turtles loses their shell and had to get it replaced.

4) A thought that crossed my mind, how do you think the Turtles & April from "Rise" would react to a female turtle popping up?

i decided to make a fic rec list of one of my favourite aus/fusions. mostly midoriya-centric, there are some crossovers (with hp), and a lot of different ways in which the authors have taken them - so it could be Quirks, ghosts, outright fantasy aus, spirits, witches etc etc. there isn't a specific order and there aren't a tonne (these are the ones i could find buried in my bookmarks lol), but the ones on the list are all really well written i love them.

The portal spat Leonardo and Michelangelo out onto the roof of a building. They landed on top of each other, though Michelangelo quickly slipped off of his brothers carapace due to the shape of the smaller shell.

“Where are we?” Michelangelo asked, following his brother’s lead and laying as flat and motionless as possible.

“I don’t know.” Leonardo motioned his brother to stay down as he took a look over the busy city landscape. “But Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore…”

Jumping across the rooftop was something Leonardo could do in his sleep! But doing it during the day, where the streets were filled with humans buzzing around doing their everyday thing, it was a bit more difficult. He had to be aware not only of how far to jump, but also when to jump, and how high he could jump without his shadow making its way out into the streets below. Sure, only one in a thousand would notice a passing shadow, but there were eight million people in New York.

It almost sickened Leonardo to refer to this place as New York. Every time he looked around, he would recognize the buildings and the monuments and the landscape, but each and every one just seemed… wrong. Not his own. Like he was staring through a funhouse mirror. This was New York, but something inside him knew this wasn’t his New York, and it filled with a sense of dread and of not belonging. He wondered if Michelangelo felt the same way.

Leonardo saw an opening and gave a gentle tug on Michelangelo’s arm. “Now.”

Both brothers glided effortlessly across the alleyway to the next building over and then fell down flat to hide behind the parapet. Leonardo fit almost perfectly behind it, but Michelangelo’s shell was bulky enough that the dome was showing. Leonardo that it wasn’t visible from the angel of the streets.

“Leo…” Michelangelo whined, his tongue hanging out as he panted. “I’m tired!”

“I know Mikey.” Leonardo grabbed Michelangelo’s hand and rubbed it gently between his fingers. “Just a bit longer.”

“But it’s hot.” Michelangelo sniffled, “And I’m thirsty and hungry. Can we get a pizza?”

“Not now, Mikey.” It hurt Leonardo to decline his baby brother. He started to pull Michelangelo along to the next alley.

“Where are we going?”

“With any luck?” Leonardo peeked hesitantly over the parapet and risked pointing out a distant apartment building. “There.”

“There? That’s April’s building, isn’t it?”

Leonardo yanked Michelangelo’s head back down so they were flat once more, “Yes. That’s the point.”

“Why don’t we just take the sewers? Try and find dad and Donnie and Raph?”

“Those sewers are like a maze, Mike, and it's even worse not knowing where we are!”

“Then can’t we just portal...?”

“Not unless you want to get portal jacked by the blob again. Besides�� I wouldn’t risk it anyway without a clear image of where we’re going. This isn’t our city Mike...”

“What do you mean?” Michelangelo stole another look over the landscape. “This is New York…”

Leonardo took one look at his brother and knew Michelangelo was telling a fib— Michelangelo’s eyes always went to pin pricks when he lied and his jaw would clench as he bit his tongue.

“Do you really think that, Mike?”

Michelangelo nodded weakly.

“No. No you don’t…”

Michelangelo hesitated a moment, then continued nodding. “Yeah…”

“It’s okay, hermano.” Leonardo pet Michelangelo’s shell, “I feel the same way. Think this has something to do with Big Mama?”

“I don’t see how she could do all this…” Michelangelo said, “Or… why she’d do all this. I mean, aren’t there easier ways to scare us?”

“Uh… then maybe it’s not Big Mama— maybe it’s some other yokai thing— maybe that oni…”

Leonardo was just spilling nonsense at that point. He shook his head and grabbed Michelangelo to tug him along to the next building. Once he made sure the coast was clear, he continued to talk.

“Listen, all I know is we could really use a familiar place right now and April’s apartment is the only one I can think of.”

“But… how do we even know if that’s April’s apartment? If this isn’t our city then… shouldn’t that not be our April?”

Leonardo refused to think about it for too long before simply pulling Michelangelo along once more. His silence seemed answer enough for Michelangelo, who didn't ask again. What did it matter if this wasn’t their world and it wouldn’t be their April waiting for them? As long as it was an April, Leonardo still wanted to see her. An April was an April no matter the world! And an April was always friends with her turtles…

April was finally getting back to her normal life; at normal as her life to get, at least. Shredder was gone once more and now so was Krang, and apart from the odd stealth missions the brothers requested of her, she was like any other human. She’d go to work at the news station and she’d always try to make each report unique and interesting— if not for her humans viewers, then at least for her four lonely friends she knew would be watching. Though at first keeping the secret had been almost painful, now it was like second nature to the news reporter. Less than two hundred people in the world were aware of her friends’s existence, and every time that number increased, even by just one, it put them in danger. She wouldn’t be the one to do that to them by telling even a single soul about them.

April was glad she didn't work Sundays. She got to sleep in and enjoy some her-time, which usually included lounging around in her pajamas all day scrolling through her phone and watching Netflix. Probably ordering takeout. Come nightfall, when the brothers were most active, she could count on them inviting her over to the lair for a game night— though it was usually more of a friendly kidnapping than an invitation. They’d play their games until long after midnight, usually with April spending the night at the lair, and April would wake up at six the next morning hating herself as she got ready for her shift at seven.

April had almost dozed off on the couch when a sharp knock came against her apartment door. She didn't immediately get up to answer it, her mind still swirling with the slumber she was snatched from.

“April? You in there? It’s Casey.”

April recognized the voice immediately, but still peeked through the peephole— with her life, she could never be too sure of anything. Once she confirmed it was Casey, she opened the door just a crack to peek out at him.

“Hey.” April smiled, “Oh, hi Casey.”

Casey smiled and waved, clearing his throat as he practically shoved a bouquet of flowers at her. “Uh. These are for you…”

April opened the door the rest of the way to accept the flowers with a smile. “Casey, you didn't have to do that!”

Casey shoved his hands in his pocket and looked away so April’s eyes couldn’t meet him. “I mean, you’re a girl… girl’s like flowers so…” He shifted nervously.

April couldn’t help but smile at the detective’s anxious movements, leaning against her door frame and staring at him with narrowed eyes. “So what, Detective Jones~?”

“So I was.. Mm… just wondering if you… and I… you know… it’s your day off… so…”

“You wanna go on a date.” April finished for him.

“Not— not a date! Just a… casual hangout… between friends…?”

“Right. Well just let me go get dressed and get my purse, okay? You can wait inside if you want.” She invited him inside and Casey accepted. “Just give me ten minutes.”

April took to her room to change. Even though she lived on one of the highest floors of the building, she still always made it a point to close her blinds when she was dressing. With drones and binoculars and horny mutant teenagers, it was better to have the comfort and security.She closed the blinds before starting to slip into a simple black dress, fixing her sloppy bun into a half-decent ponytail and brushing her fingers through it to rid herself of most of the knots. When she turned back to open the blinds, she hesitated.

The window was open...

Video Games: Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Aizen Kunitoshi, Atsushi Toushirou

Oh ho, a fun lil headcanon set like this is so funnnn~!

Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki

Sweet MuMu adores video games where we can travel the world. Fantasy world, modern world, past, present, future, he don’t care! An open world game will suit him best! There’s so much to do, and like a lil puppy, MuMu want’s to explore it all!

Extra bonus points if there’s a part of the game where there is something to do with the ocean. He adores the sea after all! Boats, driving them, exploring the ocean, exploring the unknown, oh this TouDan will drink that shit up.

The games that come to mind are Assassin’s Creed: III, Black Flag, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Why? Most of them deal with exploring new lands and some of them deal with piloting ships! III, Black Flag, Odyssey, Origins, Valhalla to be more specific. Syndicate has guns and classy fashion. A little too much for Mutsunokami but he loves playing with the guns in the game - they are very similar in make to his own after all. he also rly likes the sea shanties in odyssey because i rly like them too

If Mutsunokami wants to relax and not play Assassin’s Creed where he goes around stabbing everything that moves, he will play Subnautica or Abzu or Journey to relax. Maybe even Animal Crossing! He loves the cute little animals but I personally think that games where he can just explore the world and meet new people and learn lore just make him happy the most.

Games MuMu would never play are horror games or anything with spiders in them. So Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are out. He loves the idea of gun-toting protagonists but nope, nope. Spiders? Bye fam.

Now that I think about it, he would just be Blathers. He can play Animal Crossing but Gods help him the minute he sees a spider in that damn game. “I THOUGHT THIS WAS A PEACEFUL GAME, WHY ARE THE SPIDERS TRYING TO KILL YOU” cue controller thrown at the television.

Oh MuMu adores party games! Can’t play Smash Bros or Mario Kart for shit. Watch him pay too much attention to the background and yeet himself off of the stage because he saw something shiny. He can kinda play though, but again he gets distracted the most. Buuut ask him to play Mario Party with the rest of the swords and damn right he will play!

Can and will make video games turn into a drinking game. MuMu adores competitive gaming with the rest of the citadel. Will start taking bets on who is gonna win and lose, and sure he may be a pouty loser but he’ll be fiine. But damn right he’ll yeet a tantou to ensure his win. No he won’t he’s not that cruel.

Mutsunokami also adores rhythm games! Taiko no Tatsujin because of Don-chan and the idea of playing with a lil taiko drum as a controller. He’s very much into music after all. There are times when he stops playing a game to just listen to the music and take it all in!

A guilty pleasure game he plays is probably Ghost of Tsushima. No he’s not checking out Jin’s ass whenever they go to a hot spring, what are you talking about? MuMu enjoys it because sometimes just going back to your roots and stabbing a ho is just what you need. dear khotun khan, eat shit

Aizen Kunitoshi

Aizen is also super big on rhythm games. As said above with Mutsunokami, Taiko no Tatsujin will be a favorite of his. He has a secret collection of Don-chan merch, no one is stopping him damn it. Just fucking tRY and take away his precious Don-chan(s). The only ones that can touch his prized collection are the rest of the Rai swords, other peeps he is close to, and maybe you if you two are close/you ask nicely. Get him some Don-chan pajamas and he’ll cry.

Aizen is also pretty good at fighting games, Street Fighter coming to mind because he adores over the top bullshit and the colors! The colors! He mains Ryu though, but he’s more than willing to try new characters!

He’s also pretty competitive at times, so he would adore playing fighting games with the rest of the swords at the citadel. Hotarumaru and he are always playing Smash Bros or Mario Kart, which ends up with a lot of broken controllers. Hotaru has been slightly banned from planning highly competitive gameplay though.

Other games that I know Aizen will be into will be Animal Crossing when he wants to relax. He loves the little yearly festivals and events in the games and it kinda mirrors how life works in the world. Of course he adores Digby and Isabelle, and has threatened Tom Nook with Hotarumaru before. “Don’t you cheat me you stupid tanuki, don’t make me get my brother in here.”

Games that Aizen cannot play are puzzle games. He doesn’t mind them, he just finds them really boring. He watches Akashi play them sometimes but even then, Akashi will conk the hell out. If you play them and have Aizen on your lap watching, Aizen will be amazed at how you are so good at them!

Aizen cannot deal with horror games or sad emotional games. He’s pretty emotional himself and will need a lot of hugs after. He will refuse to play Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as they remind him of Hotarumaru and himself a lil too much. Horror games is because he’s too scared to. Hotarumaru doesn’t mind them, he likes playing them while Aizen and Akashi cling on to each other and scream in terror.

Aizen also loves games that not only have great music but the visuals and colors just catch his eye. Katamari Damacy comes to mind and he loves the main character a lot. The music! The colors! Ohh man its the best.

A guilty pleasure game he would love is the monster catching genre, Pokemon is an idea but he also loves Yokai Watch. Yokai Watch feels a lil more closer to home, plus Yokai Watch had a crossover with Taiko no Tatsujin! He immediately wasted no time and effort to try and recruit Don-chan. iM STILL TRYING TO GET DON-CHAN ON MY TEAM U LIL SHIt but also im rly biased towards yokai watch and digimon

This lil guy will also love collecting plushies of any characters of the games he plays! Don-chan is his first choice of course but catch him and Hotarumaru in a little cuddle puddle with 70 other plushies from various games!

Most of all, Aizen loves games where he can play with others! Friends, family, you! It doesn’t matter to him! He’ll drag you from your office to relax and just cheer anyone up with something fun! “Come play with me! You promised after all, master! I’ve found a rEALLY cool and fun game to play together with Hotaru!” bless him he’s trying his best

Atsushi Toushirou

Like Aizen, Atsushi will mostly enjoy multiplayer games because of his multitudes of brothers, younger and older. He’ll pick out games like Mario Party, Mario Kart, classics for sure. But then there’s games like Wario Ware or Smash Bros. He wants to play games with as many people as possible! He loves it when he can play with you and his brothers!

If Atsushi wants to play something more solo, he will play something along the lines of Cooking Mama. Houchou got him addicted to it gee i wonder why Houchou loves the game so much but Atsushi just loves the dishes that he can prepare and it almost feels like he can cook! He once tried to follow exactly what Cooking Mama did in the game for cooking once uh...it did not end up. But none the less, he loves the colors and the music of Cooking Mama!

He is also a big ol fan of life simulation games, Animal Crossing being his favorite. Again he and his siblings can all play together and the calm atmosphere almost lulls him to a peaceful sort of sleep that he adores the most. He loves the relaxing vibe and sometimes wishes to live there, wherever the hell these guys live.

Next to Yagen, I think Atsushi will lowkey adore horror games. Yagen does it just to get a rise out of the rest of his siblings and Atsushi is kind of the same. Sure Yagen finds the most gorey and atmospheric based horror to scare the crap outta his siblings, Atsushi will probably play the more jumpscare based horror games just to get a scare outta them too! What good is a horror game if you’re not scared as well??? Damn right he’ll wait until it’s night time to play these games!

Atsushi also does love RPG games! Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, come to mind first. He just loves going on big adventures! Exploring new worlds, meeting new people, learning new things! Bonus points if the game has a really emotional story, catch him and his brothers crying about whatever happens on screen.

Atsushi has a secret fondness for rather childish games. Pokemon, Yokai Watch, so on and so forth. YEs he’s trying his best to be mature and stuff, supporting you his saniwa and all, but sometimes he just wants to be himself and have fun! He has a few mascot plushies from his brothers too, shhh.

Atsushi is also terrifyingly amazing at turn-based strategy games. Mario + Rabbids being a favorite because of the colors and overall fun atmosphere. Fire Emblem is a close second. He knows exactly how to keep his units and characters alive, what upgrades to give them, so on and so forth. “General! Come look at what I did in my game! Wouldn’t it be cool if we could also do something like this?!” he says that as Rabbid Luigi yeets himself off of normal Mario and soars through the air like a bird, landing gracefully without hurting himself. Atsushi no.

He’s the most likely of the TouDans to get into the indie gaming scene, looking at new and upcoming content creators to see what they make! He wants to support them as much as he can!

He’s also one of the more responsible of the TouDans in terms of games. Others will start buying them on a whim but Atsu knows there’s a budget to be had! He isn’t as money crunching as Hakata or anything but he knows his damn limits!

Another game genre he’s secretly into are visual novels. He loves the budding relationships between characters, romantic or not, he loves seeing where they end up! It’s like he’s growing with them!

How was your element of harmony fic gonna end?

OOH NOW THIS ONE HAS BEEN SUCH A WHILE THAT THIS ACTUALLY SOUNDS FUN TO TALK ABOUT

Context for those unaware: EoH was one of my many attempts at a multicrossover. A predecessor to TBTC. It was my goal at being an EVERYTHING CROSSOVER and taking forever to highlight every little thing that could be explored in the canon of each work used. And I was in a difficult relationship with KH at the time, even though it was obviously a KH derivative, so I didn't want to actually use Sora and co. as the main cast. MLPFIM was a comfort show for me, and I was already used to the br0n135 using the Mane Six in crossovers with everything you could imagine, so I was like, hey, let's do this, Mane Six are now multi-world travelers and Discord is assembling every villain ever to stand in their way. (KH then ended up in the mythos anyway!) This is also where I was playing the infamous Twilight Sparkle/Mozenrath ship that is now very very dead.

To explain exactly what all was going on with the lore and politics of it to make this last bit make sense would take too long, so from there, please just...roll with it. I'm about to detail you THE FINALE ARC

The original idea was actually, at some point, to begin work on the Finale Arc when most of the main players were introduced. Then go back in time and keep editing the middle of the story to go on indefinitely. A bad business plan for many reasons, first of all being that I didn't even get to introduce the players that would've made it possible to begin the arc. That's how long I took to explore EVERY FRICKIN THING.

Over the course of the story, Discord has been interfering on every crossover world you can imagine, to the point of sometimes altering their canons into "fix fic." The story is aware of this. It's kinda like in the Loki series (of which I've only watched episode 1) where there's a "sacred timeline" and Discord's crossover actions are deliberate attempts by him to break it. We learn at some point that paradoxes and timeline changes are what broke the Age of Fairy Tales into the KH worlds we know today. So Discord rounds up his Old Ones (the Lovecraftian monstrosities that are more powerful than gods) and they all band together to strike at all the cracks he's put in the structure of the multiverse, and it all just falls APART. Worlds are destroyed, time has no meaning, suddenly everything is shards floating in void. The main players survive, mostly. Countless civilians die. Some named characters are given tragic deaths.

I've actually written one little snippet from this arc because I wanted to. It details two particular characters, who at the time were side villains I enjoyed and was just digging the vibe of, going down defending a stronghold from the creatures of Darkness (oni, yokai, Heartless, Grimm) that emerged from the void when everything broke. By the way do you want to take a guess who these characters IT WAS ARCHIBALD SNATCHER AND ROMAN TORCHWICK. GOD, THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN THE SIGN RIGHT THEN AND THERE THAT THEY WERE WHO I WANTED TO BE WRITING ABOUT FULL-TIME

But! I had a friend who'd lent me the book "Haroun and the Sea of Stories," and I was REALLY into that book's whole concept of "all stories in existence are threatened to end." So I lifted Khattam-Shud, a personification of The End (and I have since heard is also a political caricature), as the ACTUAL final boss. Discord wanted to blow up the multiverse because of the CHAOS that would ensue! KS, however, wanted to end EVERYTHING. (If I were doing this today, he'd just flat-out be Ansem, Seeker of Darkness instead.) Discord would realize he'd been played as KS makes a bid to line up one more cataclysm that will reduce everything to dust.

Heroes and villains alike, Discord included, find each other across the wastelands and amass into one last survivors' army led by the Mane Six. They approach the final field standing between them and KS and they charge. KS unleashes Dark creatures (Echthroi, as I had it) to gun them down. Pretty much everyone dies in this battle except the Mane Six themselves. (Which should give you a hint as to how this REALLY ends, but let's keep going.) The Mane Six fight their way to KS (and I'm REALLY gonna date myself here - the final line of defense before him was gonna be Paige the freaking Notebook from DHMIS as a personification of creative control). He shatters the Elements and then un-exists the Mane Six, but they don't die.

Instead, they end up in a sort of...white realm, inspired by the development rooms in The Stanley Parable (I was into even weirder fandoms back then than I am now apparently?). At one point it was gonna be "inside the author's laptop" and they could see doors to other timelines (i.e. crossover fanfics my friends were doing). They can also see all the files here for all the worlds they visited on their way and all the friends they made. Y'know, everything that's now DEAD.

The memories of everyone and everything they loved, however, allows them to forge one (1) new Element stone. This is...wait for it...THE ELEMENT OF HARMONY. Its surface shimmers with a rainbow of all colors! But wait! When it's flipped over, there's another side to the same gem, with colors dissonantly swirled around in an ugly way. Our heroines realize that the Element of Harmony also serves a dual purpose as the Element of Chaos, since you can't have one without the other!

The Mane Six find a way back to KS' battlefield, where he's about to finally UN-EXIST EVERYTHING. Twilight gets to say the one and only "FUCK" she's allowed to say in the whole story (I really...want to use this same joke on Mozenrath in TBTC...I know I've said he curses inaudibly to keep him IC but just imagine in the finale arc he gets the one and only FUCK he's ever allowed in his life). The six huddle around their Element of Harmony and activate its magic, casting a rainbow aura that begins to heal the broken multiverse. KS then tells them there's no way that will ever work because he and the other Old Ones caused so many paradoxes that it'll fall back apart again. To build a multiverse that's stable under these conditions would make no sense. And Twilight goes "WHAT FUN IS THERE IN MAKING SENSE" and flips the Element over to the Chaos side! Now the Chaos energy basically...fixes all the plot holes and physical impossibilities of the multiverse, allowing it to rebuild everything that had broken without a single issue!

Discord petrifies Khattam-Shud and it was fairly badass but I can't remember exactly what one-liner I gave him to end it.

Lights up on a rebuilt multiverse. Everyone's alive again and nothing's broken! YAY! And everyone in the survivor army (though they're not "survivors" anymore since EVERYONE is alive again) has come to Equestria to give the Mane Six a celebration for saving literally everything! AND THEY'RE ALL PONIES OR OTHERWISE MAGICAL CREATURES BECAUSE OF MY RULES OF FORM CHANGING IN THAT FIC. HAHAHAHAHA IT WAS A VERY COMICAL MENTAL IMAGE AND STILL IS.

The Six get their ships (Twilight/Mozenrath, Pinkie Pie/Megavolt, Fluttershy/Sakuya from Okami, Rarity/Stork, Rainbow Dash/I would really rather not say this one because it was taboo in a way I don't wanna touch again, Applejack/I don't even know anymore because it was gonna be Emma Swan and then it wasn't and then I just got confused). And everyone just has a good time.

The Six then take off in the ship again for THE ADVENTURE CONTINUING, EVEN THOUGH AFTER THIS I WOULD JUST GO WRITE ETERNAL ADVENTURE LEADING UP TO THIS MOMENT

Also I heard the song "We Come Running" by Youngblood Hawke on the radio once and I was like "This would go great over a credits sequence" so I used it for a while as my inspo for a KH-style "credits montage" where you see each of the most major worlds and the factions that live on them, and an early concept for the WHAM ARMY was one of these factions and this cracks me up so much because they graduated from a shot in the KH montage to WE ARE THE PROTAGS OF THE NEXT FIC

My Hero Academia (most of these can be found in my previously posted BNHA: Fic list) 

Ash Phoenix: An Idea where I ask/answer if OFA is the only quirk that can be merged and be something else entirely. (It will be a bit dark and involve the hidden quirk Izuku and Toga’s quirk combining into something powerful)

Bedlam: A story of Izuku being a combination of Bruce Lee/ Brock Lee. Who needs a quirk when you have martial training that can’t be beat. He is shipped with Momo in this one. (Izuku’s dad is a bastard that dies early and his life insurance helps Inko give Izuku the life he deserves) 

Paragon... Fighting Bedlam: good timeline where Izuku goes to UA, with his girlfriend, Momo like cannon BNHA just without OFA and a lot more confident Izuku with some Midoriya family angst sprinkled in.

Renegade... Hoods of Bedlam: Bad timeline where Izuku and Momo are vigilantes know as Green/Red Hood. They still go to UA but not through the hero coarse. Izuku is in management/business and Momo is in General. This time it is Yaoyororozu family drama that involve Izuku being quirkless. (might also have to do with an surprise pregnancy. This one also has the pair say “f^ck society and it’s rules, we are gonna do what we want”) 

Brain over Brawn: (This one follows a head cannon of mine where Izuku is on a lot of Forms about anything hero) The day he was suppose to grab All-Might’s leg he was just a little to slow and doesn’t get OFA. instead he goes to the Forms shares his impressions of heroes and gets picked up by Nezu. After all what is better the muscle to beat up or a baddy or the knowledge how to? (Free to use)

Champion of Olympus: I give a Fem!Izuku a direct line to the Greek Gods mainly because I want to see a BA Izumi with a bow. It is like Percy Jackson but without the god parents and more Izumi being the first person in generations to interact with the gods.

Epitaph: Izuku gets the strongest and probably worst combo of his parents quirks. Simply put, on Izuku’s quirk registry he can take the heat from an object or person. In truth his quirk is so much more powerful than that. He has the ability to take the life force or soul of living beings. (Free to Use)

Eri’s Big Brother: An angsty fic where Izuku gets kidnapped at an early age, and no one knows what happens to him. That is until the first day of UA when a small white haired kid Aizawa is watching over asks Bakugou “Are you Kacchan?” (Free to use)

FF7 x BNHA No title yet: A story that finds Izuku transported from his old world into a world of heroes and villains after a bomb that should have killed him launched him across dimensions. Izuku is a member of AVALANCHE and shows the world of heroes what a freedom fighter can do. While also finding out that the world of heroes might be more familiar to him than he originally thought

Future Heroes: This one is a future fic with a whole cast of OCs of mine 

In The Name of LoV: Izuku is a villain and is the Co-leader of LoV with Tomura. Photogenic and maybe a little psychotic Izuku addresses the world in videos saying that him and his friends are villains because they ‘Lov’ the world so much.(Izuku is a sweet&charismatic kid who sees heroes as a problem because all society cares about is strong/flashy quirks) (Free to Use)

Izuku!Nomu no title yet: A fic where Izuku tries to follow Bakugou’s advice but is saved by LoV and turned into a Nomu. We follow a guilt ridden Bakugou perspective after that day all the way to the USJ where he finds and frees an Izuku who may be to damaged to ask forgiveness of. (willing to share)

Jet Set Radio x BNHA no title yet: I give Izuku confidence through the power of roller skates and the street art of graffiti in order not only become a hero, but a hero without a quirk. Killing Bites X BNHA no title yet: (TBH I have watched maybe 10min of Killing Bites and that is it. I really like the look of the characters in the show.) Fem!Izuku is has the same power as the honey bager character from KB. She along with countless other quirkless where kidnapped and tested on. Now free Fem!Izuku isn’t quite human after all the DNA experimentations she has been put through. She along with the other test subjects are part animal and have an instinctive drive to fight. 

Persona x BNHA no title yet: Another fic where I have Izuku taking Bakugou’s advice but gaining a quirk instead of dying. Basically I give Izuku personas to summon because I liked how P3 showed the summons. I also have him move schools to Shiketsu, after winning the Sports Festival, and with his move takes UA’s place as #1 hero school with him to Shiketsu. (not gonna lie this one is a bit crazy)

Sharpening my teeth on the rays of the sun: Izuku has an OP quirk based on his parents. He can pull in and eat fire/energy. He finds inspiration from old Norse mythology as a kid and takes on the mantle of “Skoll the devourer of the sun.” He is going to befriend Tokoyami so hard.

Sheep’s Wool hiding Wolves Teeth: Izuku is smart, too smart. he uses the system to his advantage. Most people think Izuku is an angel but people like Bakugou know the truth. They see Izuku pretending and fooling everyone and see him for the manipulative demon pretending to be human he is. (Izuku lacks empathy/morality, and sees play things where humans should be. He will manipulate everyone he can just for his own amusement) (Free to Use)

Spirit Chaser: The world of heroes and spirits collide with Izuku at the epicenter. Izuku is a shrine priest or priestess if you want to do Fem!Izuku. Quirks mean little when ones faith and mantras are just as amazing. (me using all the priest/priestess powers from other anime/manga to come up with his powers and made a pretty OP quirkless teen who can seal spirits, cure villains of hatred, and fight along side the best heroes with nothing more than his families traditions) (willing to share, free to use)

Soul Resonance: A Soul Eater x BNHA fic. Inspired by Ravenclawoutcast13 fic on Ao3. Izuku is a miester and after moving to Nevada at an early age the the DWMA comes back to UA when it is time to be a hero.

Task Force: Izuku is part of a not so secret task force that deals with villains, criminals, and aggressive heroes. Most members of the task force are quirkless and are like Japan’s SWAT. The Task Force is also an internal affairs for the hero system. Because of their no nonsense way they operate most people fear the Task Force and any person reveled to be apart of it. (Willing to Share)

Web Weaver’s Betrothed: An idea came about from two writing prompts; 1. “What is so dangerous about the forest” and 2. My answer to all the Spiderman crossover fics. This fic is ambitious as it combines BNHA, Spiderman, and Yokai together. (Izuku is spiderman, but his own spiderman. and I add forest spirits in for fun)

What is in a name: My very first BNHA fic idea!! I turn the ‘BNHA name explaining someone’s powers’ up to 11 and give Izuku the power of the forest and fay like creatures. Izuku is the fairy king basically.

Paragon... (no name yet) Izuku is a kid with a powerful quirk that transcends all previous quirk types. Watch this little hero work his hardest to get the title he has longed for. (a nice fic, with Izuku/Bakugou friendship)

Renegade... (no name yet) Only a few know Izuku. No one would guess that he is the ‘Fairy King’ that has saved countless kids from harm these last ten years. (an accident puts Izuku into a coma. that won’t stop his heroic spirit from doing what he was born to do. Toga gets to go to UA, Shoto gets to be a normal kid, and Bakugou might get his butt kicked by the army of people that Izuku has helped)

Yakuza!Izuku: Izuku's dad was a big time Yakuza boss in the past. Izuku has been the head of his family for over five years controlling the underground. Which would be good for the underground world if it was what he wanted. And after a fated conversion gets him thinking more about his place in the world Izuku decides to clean house and become a force for good.

Dishonored:

The Royal Consort Series: A three part series where Jessamine lives but Emily goes missing. Emily isn’t truly missing she grows up in the Golden Cat because she was never found and eventually becomes its owner. She and the girls of the Golden Cat replace Daud and the whalers. She is has the mark of the outsider, a kill count and maybe some resentment at what happened all those years ago.

Bounts of Paris: Bleach x MLB. Truth be told I liked Bleach and even liked the filler Bount arc. This AU would be where Master Fu fled Asia after the Soul Reapers Massacred the most of the Bounts. The Kwami are the ‘half-Bounts’ with special powers. They can live on after the human they are connected to die. and can forge new connections with with new humans creating new ‘true-Bounts.’

Casse-Cou: DareDevil x MLB (the idea is a Gift for miraculous786). This is an AU where Marinette is not a seamstress. Instead she is an aspiring lawyer. This does feature a Blind!Marinette but she is makes do in her own way. With a different destiny before her Marinette gets paired with Plagg and becomes The Cat of the Devil, the DareDevil Casse-Cou 

Death of Gods and Men: WitchBlade x MLB. I stumbled across witchblade’s anime and the crossover sounded like a great idea. I mean listen to the WB intro:::  Sought by the greed of men since the dawn of human kind, but only bestowed upon the women whose fate it forever scars...the Witchblade. Is it the righteous sword of God? Or hand of the Devil himself? Now a new bearer has been chosen. And she must discover the answers for herself. As she stands on the brink of destiny, she is forced to seek the balance between ecstasy and ruin. (How could I not!?! I just need to tone down the fan service because WB is thirsty AF)

Demon Princess In Paris: Inuyasha&Yashahime x MLB. Another Fic where Marinette’s family on her mother’s side is very powerful back in China (and Asia as a whole). Lila planned to ruin Marinette when she came back to school after being gone for a week. Only to find Marinette has connections to a very powerful family in Asia. Stranger still Marinette looks nothing like what she did when she left. Little does Lila, or anyone in Paris, know that Marinette is a half-demon of her demon mother Sabine and her human father Tom, and not to forget she is granddaughter to the great Demon Lord Sesshōmaru

Flower Pot: MariBat. The Justice League have to rush to Paris because some new villain is opening time portals. When they get there the villain is already defeated by teenagers. Stranger still once they get close enough Wonder Woman rushes one of them in a hug with a shout of “Ladybug.” After a moment ‘Ladybug’ asks “Flower Pot, is that you!?!” This AU sends Marinette back in time and to the land of Themiscyra when Diana was a little girl. Chaos ensues both in the present and in the past.

Let’s have fun with Miraculous: all of these are just silly ideas that I thought of late at night or early in the morning and wanted to share. All of them are Free to Use)

idea one is just a silly thing trying to figure out what Marinette might call herself after moving to Gotham as the Guardian of the Miraculous.

idea two is a Timinette ship that has Marinette using the Miraculous to heal Gotham. But because Batman is a control freak, she hides her healing as a three ring circus. (made possible by using the mouse miraculous to the max) Tim becomes smitten with the acrobatic performance.

idea three is just a random MLB idea. An entity convinces Fate to let them mess with destiny. that entity whether it is  Spirit, Demon, Devil, or God is Marinette’s new partner. And while the craziness of the Miraculous Ladybug canon is going on with a different ladybug. Marinette is having her own adventures. She is still undecided if this is a better fate than dealing with all the Miraculous stuff like she was suppose to.

Lost Valkyrie: Thor x MLB. A series covering both Miraculous Ladybug and the entire Thor movies (because my brain hats me). Marinette is a Valkyrie that through wormhole nonsense lands in Paris after their defeat by Hela. Marinette is adopted by Tom and Sabine as their daughter. Marinette has amnesia of her time as a Valkyrie. (This one is crazy too and once I get the idea fully written down I will be glad to give it to someone. Free to use- when it is done)

Miraculous Stitching:  Marinette has been getting some magic power from the natural magic radiating off of Tikki. Mari can imbue things with magic into things through her stitch work. (this one is might not be for the squimish, some body horror)

Price of Life- Purest Wish: (inspired by BAllpointbasic “The Price of Life”) A villain worse than Hawkmoth shows up and decimates Paris. Marinette uses the Miraculous wish and offers her life as payment. She is happy being able to save everyone and not cursing anyone else with the pain of losing someone they care about. With the selfish wish she gets reborn as a Kwami. 

Rise of Arachnid: After getting blinded and unable to be healed during an Akuma fight Marinette has to give up being Ladybug. Marinette ends up talk to Hawkmoth and because of her bleeding heart she offers her help after hearing his story. She becomes a very powerful recurring villain that the new Miraculous team have to deal with on top of the normal Akuma. She has the powers of Spiderman and DareDevil. (another Blind!Marinette)

The Forgetten City- Early Renaissance: (Inspired by multifandomscribette “The Forgotten City” series. It is a Young Justice x MLB crossover) The Team go to Paris following The Riddler’s spree of crime. They are helped by local heroes none of them have heard or met before. Once the villain is dealt with the team and is asked, not to kindly, to leave Paris and never come back. 

Pokémon: 

G1RBY: A silly Picachu DJ story I had. She is a talking Pokémon that I drew once and wanted to make into an ask blog. But the VA I had didn’t feel conformable with the idea of having people hear her voice so it is seelved. (Willing to Share)

Shinny Cubone: Proof that I have always had an angsty edge. This is a story of a Cubone dealing with life after their mother dies. But it is okay as their mother’s old teammates are there to help. A Gastly offering help as well. But is everything as it seems? (this was going to be a art blog. but I got lazy and did not want to redraw all my stuff from paper to comp)

RWBY: 

Grimm Masks: Bleach x RWBY... Kinda. A fic where Ruby presumably dies during a mission. She is later found wearing a grimm mask in the same forest she was killed in and seems to be able to control the grimm that share the same mask as her. (Basically got inspired by Ichigo’s hollow mask and thought to give it to Ruby. then as the story demanded it give a mask to the other girls of team RWBY. This was before the whole maiden thing was cannon)

She-Ra (netflix version)

Innocence of an Enemy Soldier: Magicatra Au idea. Catra is She-Ra and Adora is a Horde Soldier. After all the fighting is done and the Princesses have won. To bad things can’t end happily for Catra. Adora finally learns the truth about the horde being the bad guys after she is captured. With that knowledge she asks to be tried for her crimes. Catra needs to work hard to prove her once friend’s innocence otherwise Adora will be executed.

Dissonant Whispers: Catra meets Corrupted She-Ra and wants to scream to bad Corrupted Adora/She-Ra shushes her with a finger to the lips. (I just want to see Catra being small scared cat with pin-prick pupils seeing a slightly blood splattered She-Ra while being being cornered and her voice failing her when She-Ra puts a finger to her lips just as she was about to scream.)

Shadows make and Shadows break: another Magicatra au. alt title (Shadows make and Light breaks). this idea came about because I rewatched the part of She-Ra when Shadow Weaver adopts Adora. The whole “This one is different. Can’t you feel it? She has power...” “Don’t worry little one, we are going to do great things together.” thing. (I want a magic user Adora, and I only have the looses ideas of what I will do with it so far.) Why isn’t there more magic!adora AUs!?!

Original Ideas: 

/The Squad/: (A colab furry Comic/Radio drama I had planned to do with VAs and everything. Had the pilot printed out and everything. Just didn’t get enough VAs.) Crime has become a spectator sport of cops and robbers. Criminals no longer snatch purses or kill people, instead they are closer to performers robbing banks, stealing from museums, street racing and the like. Criminal and Police Officer alike vie for attention of the crowds and the attention of viewers at home. (willing to share)

Dark Skies: A small story based off a photo a friend of mine took. It won me a short story award way back when. I willing share it with artists to so how they want to draw the scene. (willing to share, if you got the willingness to draw. lol)

Competent Folder: Stories I think are good just haven’t done anything with them yet.

Olympian Noire: a 50s Noire story with Olympian characters and references. (needs some grammar edits and a good reread before it is posted again) (Willing to Share after I rework it a little)

Misgivings about Airships: A start of an actual story I was writing but lost most of the progress I made except the first page I had. (a reminder to save often. will come back to it if I ever get over how much I lost of it)

Marked and Scarred: This is my bread and butter. A short hook for a story. Tells you just enough about the characters and world to grab your attention but leaves enough for you to also add details to it if you want. (willing to share/ free to use)

Gremlins: A dream I written down once about ‘Fairy Folk’ and how much they don’t like someone like me. Probably wont ever be finished because I woke up before the dream ended and most people wont find it as unsettling as I did. 

Dragons: Short story. A warning a dragon gave to a ship and its crew about a dangerous storm, unlike any other, that would devastate their homes if they didn’t prepare for it. The dragon later became a symbol for the port town.

Danger Days: Not so much a story and more of a parody of the My Chemical Romance song “Look alive/ Sunshine” as my own type of intro of sorts. 

Badge of Babylon: A fun Colab I did with other people on Facebook a few years back. A changing POV fic involving an Older Thief, a young Page, and Sylph (fairy). The group fell apart sadly. But I saved our saved notes and could still make a decent story out of it. 

All from a Ring: An entire scene that came to mind from a ring holding a broken gem a friend of mine had. And I am pretty proud of it. (needs a little touch ups but it is complete)

Eh Folder: Stories that aren’t bad but don’t inspire anything in me anymore. They range from bland to me needing to be in a certain mindset to be able to add to them. (all of these are Free to use) 

Caterpillar: a story that takes place in older alt timeline where strange creatures exist and follows the diary/journal entries of a man trying to find one of those creatures. At first he thinks it is a dragon, but eventually finds out that it is a kaiju sized caterpillar that has terrifying Lovecraft elements added to it. 

Spider Junk: Was concocted by me after being sick, sleep deprived, or plain crazy while I wrote down this short story. I have no memory writing this but it is in my own hand writing so... It is a story about how your mind can play tricks on you if your mind is not operating properly. 

Psych session: It is a story about a character talking to his psych doctor about a dream/haunting he had about his dead sister. It is a good idea but I really don’t have any drive to continue it. (I am sure someone else could make something out of it)

Da Faq Folder: a series of stories/ideas that are not worth the light of day or the energy it would take to store in your brain. Worse than needing to be deleted. they serve as a reminder to me that not all ideas are worth it. Sometimes we just need to write them down to get over them, drop them completely, or to get out that little bit of nasty we have that needs to get out in a healthy way. 

Holy f^ck that is 65 different stories! This was a bad idea. Seeing them all listed like this is weird. Normally I have them on Microsoft word, Google Docs, or saved on my Tumblr Drafts.

My Top 10 TMNT 2012 Episodes

Disclaimer: This list is based on my opinion. I love all the episodes from this series. I will be choosing episodes from all five seasons. Let’s begin.

10 - End Times (Season 5; Episode 4)

The true canon ending to the TMNT series. This episode was great but wasn’t completely amazing. I didn’t like how they brought back Shredder but I did like how The Shredder chose to stay dead. Mark Hamill did a fantastic job as Kavaxas. My favorite moment from this episode was seeing Master Splinter saying goodbye to his family, one last time before he left and seeing Karai and Splinter hugging each other warmed my heart. 

9 - The Forgotten Swordsman (Season 5; Episode 2)

This episode in my opinion was just awesome. We see Karai and Shinigami again, which I enjoyed the most, and a new character named Hattori Tatsu. This episode basically revealed the fact that Karai had years of intense training, not only with The Shredder, but with Tatsu. Karai trained in Ninjutsu with Shredder and learned her sword skills from a blind swordsman. This episode also showed how Karai has changed throughout the show.

8 - Broken Foot (Season 4; Episode 16)

I don’t even know where to begin with this episode. We see the return of Karai and Shinigami and watch them take down Shredder’s empire. We also see Dark Leo which a lot of us loved. Lots of great moments in this episode. The one I liked the most was when Karai basically risked her life in an explosion and obtained a scar over her face because of it. Luckily, she was able to shed the burned skin off but even without her mutation makes me wonder, would she still do it? Probably. 

7 - Vision Quest (Season 3; Episode 8)

This episode was amazing. Seeing the turtles overcome themselves like this was awesome. The vision outfits are one of my favorite outfits the turtles wear throughout the series. I enjoyed this episode as it was also the end of the retreat arc or whatever it was called. I was really excited to see them go on their vision quest and soon go back to New York.

6 - Darkest Plight (Season 4; Episode 21)

In the previous episode, we see Splinter face of the Super Shredder and then fall into the obis of the abandoned city. When the team doesn’t know what to do after they lost Splinter, Karai stands up and says they take them all down for Splinter. An act of justice, not revenge in my opinion. The fight between Shredder against April and Karai was awesome. The best part about this episode was seeing Karai stand up to Shredder and literally punch him in his heart. 

5 - The Fourfold Trap (Season 3; Episode 23)

I like this episode. Fight me. This episode was great in my opinion because it marks the last time we see Karai under control of the brainworm. I will say, I was ecstatic when I saw Karai in this episode and I did in fact cry when she literally slipped out of Splinters hand after he saved her. Luckily we get to see her again in season 4 and with a new character that’s an old friend of hers.

4 - Tale of the Yokai (Season 3; Episode 20)

Where do I even start? This episode had everything. We finally got to meet Tang Shen, see the rivalry between Shredder and Splinter, baby Miwa, Leo holding baby Miwa, and the first death to happen on screen in this show. I was super excited for this episode when I saw the leak from Comic Con. Seeing the turtles interact with Shen was sweet and when they desperately tried to save her was just sentimental. We also see Shredder taking Miwa and later renaming her Karai. 

3 - Owari (Season 4; Episode 26)

The other canon ending to this series. This episode had the end of Super Shredder in the most badass way. I wish we could have seen the original scene where blood is shown from the cut Leo made through Shredder’s neck. I understand it’s too violet for kids but that would be cool to see at least once or in the DVD release. Seeing all the turtles in their Dark outfits or Shinobi outfits was really awesome. The ending was even better. Seeing the turtles, April, Casey, and Karai look out into the city was beautiful, especially when Splinter appeared in the end card.

2 - City at War (Season 4; Episode 15)

This episode aired on my boyfriends birthday who was my ex at the time. Having to be reminded of him made me upset but this episode cheered me up since it was the return of Karai and the first appearance of Shinigami. Also, I was happy to see April become a Kunoichi. For any of you who hated her becoming a Kunoichi so early, let me explain, yes the turtles and Karai had years of training till they became ninjas. But in the beginning of The Invasion, we see a young Karai who looked to be maybe 12 or 13 when she received her tanto and the turtles might have been around 8 or 10 when they received their weapons. It took her maybe two years... okay I see why now, but still. Also, this episode was the start of a three part episode where we see Karai. They really made up for those times where we didn’t see her at all or she was on the wrong side.

When my friend asked me my favorite episode, I couldn’t think of one till I remembered this episode. I stopped watching TMNT for a while somewhere after the season 1 finale and beginning of season 2, I’d say after Follow the Leader. I decided to watch the show again and this was the first episode I watched when it was released. This episode was emotional in so many ways for me. When Karai hugs Splinter after being rescued made me tear up and when she falls into the mutagen made me bawl. Having to see Splinter lose his daughter again was just terrible. If it wasn’t for this episode, I don’t know if I would ever get back to TMNT. This episode was also the reason why my favorite character is Karai and where my love for her came. 

I enjoyed watching this series and re-watching it is even better. I feel like the show ended too early with unanswered questions and unfinished arcs such as the mutagen search arc. I do hope Ciro Nieli makes a movie for the series soon. I hope you enjoyed my list. I will work on my least favorite episodes next time when I have the chance.

My half asleep brain this morning woke me up and was like ‘you know what would make a fun crossover? Natsume Yuujinchou x Fruits Basket’

Why? I have no idea. Idk how that would work aside from one of the groups (either Natsume and co or the Tohru gang) going on some kind of school trip out to the city/town of the other and their paths crossing that way.

Also idk how much supernatural stuff aside from the Sohma curse actually pops up in FruBa so idk if it would make sense for them to see yokai so I just split the difference on it and opted for ‘they can sense the yokai and the most they can see is a blurry shape’

But ahem, stupid idea 1) Natsume group goes on a field trip to the city.

Dunno what kind of field trip, maybe to a museum or something, doesn’t matter, they go and during some free time the class splits up and Natsume’s group (him, Tanuma, Nishimura and Kitamoto, maybe Taki too idk) head off together but WHOOPS this city is b i g and none of them know it that well and wait where’d Natsume go??

Natsume got distracted by something and wandered off (or chased after Nyanko who went searching for food) and now whoops he’s lost.

(After an unfortunate encounter with the local girl gang Nyanko takes on Reiko’s form to protect Natsume cause Natsume can’t fight and also Reiko is intimidating and someone gotta keep the beanpole safe till they can find his friends)

Natsume somehow ends up at the Sohma house (either chasing a yokai or chasing a hungry Nyanko idk) tho luckily the only one there atm is Shigure (and Natsume is amused b/c that’s the same name as one of his guardians).

Shigure is a smart cookie and notices fairly quickly two things about Natsume. One is that this poor boy, skittish as a lamb, has def been through some shit at some point and has been hurt by people before like Yuki so carefulness is required. The second is that he’s, different, there’s something about him that’s not like most people. Esp when he notices Natsume looking at the funny blurs that he catches sight of every now and then (like, there’s tiny, harmless yokai running about the house and Natsume notices them).

Also,

Shigure: So, just so we’re clear, you’re not related to anyone with the last name ‘Sohma’ are you?

Natsume: No?

Shigure: *breathing a sigh of relief that there’s no unaccounted for Sohma’s running around.

Natsume: But I mean I know like nothing about my mom’s side of the family so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shigure: *screeching*

(cause Natsume’s hair and eyes, ESP the manga colours are unusual so, lmao)

And then the teenage trio returns home and Natsume is just ‘oh NO’ b/c earlier in the day his group had had a run in with Kyo(literally) and when Kyo got grumpy with Natsume for not watching where he was going, Nyanko bit him in retaliation before Natsume’s group issues a hasty apology and bolted before the situation could get worse. And it’s very awkward and tense cause Natsume can’t even look at Kyo.

At some point Shigure notices that Natsume’s funky cat is mia and the boy is surrounded by an awful large blurry, misty thing (when Kyo notices this he does try to behave a bit more cause not only does it seem like whatever it is is protecting Natsume, Natsume seems fully aware of its presence so like, what is this boy??? what powerful things is he friends with??? is he even human?) Even more so when Natsume leaves, all but bolting from the room with a hasty apology and goodbye, because the way he moves around the unseen thing makes it clear that he can see it, perhaps more clearly than they do.

And then Shigure sends them, or at least Kyo, off to find Natsume cause ‘are you really gonna let this scared and lost kid just run around this city alone, esp after acting like that? for shame.’ (Kyo’s grumpy but soft and yeah ok maybe he did over react and that kid did apologize and did seem a bit scared so he should do something about this)

(Kyo’s definitely certain he saw Natsume talking to the blur around him and that it also turned back into his weird lookin cat but he’s just gonna, not say anything cause he don’t wanna risk looking like a nut to Tohru-who can’t see/sense yokai at all-or Yuki-who didn’t witness those scenes)

They do find Natsume and reunite him with his friends-Natsume has to keep his over protective friends from flipping out on Kyo like ‘no it’s ok we’re cool now’

Also Natsume buying one of Shigure’s novels (NOT the trashy romance ones haha oh god) to show his Shigure back home cause they share the same name and it kinda amuses him.

Stupid idea #2 FruBa gang goes on a trip to (or to somewhere near) Natsume’s hometown

Idk what kinda of interesting things are in or near Natsume’s home but the group goes there for like a field trip or a vacation.

Much like in scenario one they have a literal collision with Natsume’s group, but Kyo was already in a foul mood for one reason or another so he just snaps at Natsume, something about needing to watch where he’s going. And Natsume just kind of, freezes up, there’s a person yelling at him, berating him for being stupid/clumsy. And before his friends can say or do anything he just books it out of there, absolutely terrified cause whoops there’s some bad memories resurfacing and his mind was outta there before the rest of him was.

Tanuma, Nishi and Kitamoto are not pleased. Nor is Tohru, who for sure gives him a good talking to before everyone fans out to find Natsume (cause he should not be alone atm). I feel like Yuki at the very least would be able to recognize the reactions of someone whose been abused and is just like ‘oh shit’ the moment Kyo starts being an ass.

And in predictable Natsume fashion, yokai shit happens. Which is a bad combo cause Natsume is not in the right head space to be dealing with a yokai that wants its name back atm. And ofc in typical Natsume fashion the yokai are dramatic lil fucks and decides that Kyo and/or Yuki might make a good snack/a ‘well if you won’t give it back then I’ll just eat your friend’ sort of thing.

And even though Natsume is scared and not ok rn he’s also not about to let them get eaten even if Kyo was previously rude to him(like, he deserves a good talking too, not to be turned into lunch lol).

And it must look very strange to them to see Natsume, scared as all fuck, but standing between them and this, something they can barely see but that he can see (and punch apparently cause oh god he just punched it and sent it flying wtf is this scrawny kid?) and then a second big thing comes to Natsume’s aid which he calls ‘Nyanko-sensei’ (which only serves to baffling them later when Natsume’s weird cat appears and Natsume calls it Nyanko-sensei). Eventually the yokai is dealt with, name returned and Natsume begging them to not tell his friends about all that cause they don’t know about this.

And then Natsume has to hold his friends back cause they find him and he’s all scraped up and Kyo is there ofc they think the worst.

But everything gets worked out in the end.

Other random thing I thought of, Natsume meeting Ayame and just being like ‘oh NO. he’s Natori but WORSE’ and praying that they never, ever meet.

Also, Natsume at some point discovering the Sohma family secret and is just like ‘well...it’s not the strangest thing I’ve ever seen or dealt with’ cause like it’s unusual yeah but he deals with yokai on a daily basis. Frankly very little surprises him at this point.

Anyways yeah, Natsume FruBa crossover b/c why not.

Randomly thinking about a yokai watch and lobotomy corporation crossover au because honestly both games have an equal mix of scary and silly monsters and the difference is just in the tone. I could easily imagine a lot of Yokai making sense as Abnormalities and some of them already kinda have minigames of doing weird overspecific stuff to keep youself safe from them. And thr whole Infinate Tunnel/Moody Mary questline is so effing surreal its like an Abnormality! Plus there's lots of Abnormalities that are sympathetic and itd be cool to reimagine a version of them that can be befriended and helped.

Tho i dunno, maybe this concept is just too similar to Shadowside? But also with like..un-shadowsiding the Abnormalities. A two way horror and cuteness swap~!

Random place to start: Dr Maddiman! As an abnormality he'd be similar to Nothing There, a mimic type. But instead of trying to mimic people on purpose to escape, he seems to genuibely believe he is an ordinary employee and has to get back to his very important science work. And in this au he'd probably look lots more terrifying and inhuman and such, so his delusion is very clearly false. Theres no chance of anyone actually falling for his mimicry, he never stops looking like a horrifying monstrosity squeezed into a labcoat no matter how much he begs for you to believe he's human.

Containment procedures for him involve validating his delusion so he doesnt attack you- treating him like a valued employee and pretending to involve him in important work even if you're just having him staple together blank papers all day. Whenever he breaches containment he just goes around doing paperwork like that and copying other stuff he sees humans doing. Or he latches onto an employee and annoys them by following them around and babbling cute anecdotes about his beloved wife and kids. Research has been able to track down the locations he describes as his childhood home and where he got married, but can find no proof that he was ever human or that his family ever existed.

Despite his sympathetic nature and good instentions, the doctor is still a very dangerous Abnormality. He's usually harmless when breaching and even protects employees from other abnormalities but his desire to protect others can be also his biggest danger. You cant under any circumstances let him know if you're sick or injured, his well-intentioned attempts to help often end in completely remodelling the human body into a more efficient form. Several abnormalities around the facility were once people who encountered this one and found their wishes answered in the worst of ways. The doctor speaks fondly of his past patients and seems convinced they must be much happier now. If he's ever placed close to their cell and they breach containment at the same time, the patient will ignore all humans and attack the doctor constantly. And the doctor usually stops attacking at all and just stares into space as he's torn apart. Every time his twisted body reforms and he finds he's been denied death again, he seems to quickly forget what happened as a form of coping mechanism.

He cant stand the thought of knowing he's been hurting people, and even when he briefly remembers sometimes he still cant stop himself from doing it. His chance of breaching increases the longer he goes without 'helping' someone, and a third eye opens on his forehead and dominates more and more of his face. His potential positive effects are the same as his negative ones, his 'helpful' surgery is a random roulette so sometimes it genuinely is helpful. No matter what youre gonna end up mutated, but if youre lucky you'll just be twisted up inside into a stronger faster creature and still look outwardly human. Effects can include simple level ups in skills, increased elememtal resistance, growing a random abnormality's E.G.O gift from your flesh, randomizing an appearance trait like face or hair colour, and various temporary buffs. A negative result will turn the employee into an -02 type abnormality of the same genus, a massive tumourous blob of multiple arms that seems to leak sunlight out of its eyes and mouth. The doctor expresses fondness towards these creatures and will seem to mistake them for the children he believes he once had, whispering gently that he missed them so much even as they try and take their revenge by tearing him limb from limb. Once placed into a separate containment unit (for the sake of the doctor's safety as much as the employees), these creatures will settle into a hibernating state and eventually emerge from their coccoon of terrifying limbs as a random Abnormality you havent already seen yet. Once the process is completed they seem to have no memory left of being human, and will replace their previous AI with that of the resulting Abnormality. If they meet the doctor in future breaches they seem to not recognise him, but he always calls them his child no matter how different they look. He seems to see their abandoned aggression as a sign that the surgery was successful and he saved them from the tragedy of being human. Energy output increases for the rest of the day due to happiness!

The rarest result of the random surgery is a small chance that the employee will seem otherwise unchanged but suddenly start seeing the doctor as their father figure. They'll know details about his false fantasy of a normal human life, even if he never told them. And their personality begins to change to that of once of the nonexistant children, remembering dear moments with their dad that really never existed. Aside from loss of self and being distracted from productive work, there are no dangerous effects from this. They will just perform better at work with the doctor and have a small chance of experiencing family actions at the end of each work session. Varying from tea parties to stereotypical 'its not a phase dad, punk rock is my life!' conversations. It seems the 'children' have very different personalities...? The possessed employee will receive a glowing heart on their chest (in various colours depending on the "child") and its possible to free them by shattering this heart, however theyre insanely protective of it. A possible theory is that the doctor was indeed a human once, and is merely the conduit for a cluster of otherworldly forces that he perceives as 'cute children', who are using him to help find new host bodies. The higher ups are currently considering passing a bill to allow sacrifices to see what happens if the possession is ever completed. (Doctor is very hsppy about this!! He loves his kids!!)

Yokai Watch Movie 5 News:

The official website for the movie has gotten some updates again.

I’ll go over the minor ones first.

The main page got this new cover image that we had previously seen in Corocoro:

The general information page now also uses this image as a background for the “story” section, but the text seems unchanged.

It also has an added bit about Enma in this movie, among other things, but it doesn’t have any new information in there.

One thing of note is that the added cast list finally seems to confirm the name of this Whisper-like character:

Previously, it was unclear if he is supposed to be Whisper or not, since it was hard to understand him when he said his name. But now it seems confirmed that his name is 臼田さん/Usuda-san, so he’s probably not Whisper.

(Which makes sense, considering Whisper should be sealed up around this time.)

The character page had some characters added, but no new information about them.

They did fix the apparent typo in Itsuki’s bio, so he’s no longer called a “yokai” here. Seems like it really was a mistake after all. I mentioned that typo in this post here, back in July.

The design contest page now shows all winning entries. Note that, as far as I know, this information especially isn’t documented forever on these pages, so back it up if you’re interested.

Now, onto the actual news page of the site.

There’s been a comment by TVXQ, the band behind the movie’s main song 大好きだった/Daisukidatta (”I loved you”) . But it doesn’t really have any notable information in it, so I won’t cover it unless I see people who really want me too.

Same with the short interview videos that Corocoro’s youtube channel did with Chiemi Blouson and Shun Oguri, which you can see here and here.

They all talk about the basic points of “this movie is about friendship”, and “please watch it with your parents”, which is nice, but something they went over before, like these comments from last month.

Actual news is this section, where they introduce ”Yasha Enma”, a character that was name-dropped before, but we hadn’t fully seen him yet.

(Check out this post about the news from last month if you want to know the context of that.)

Here’s what they say about him:

"Yasha Enma", the ultimate king who controls fire and ice, unveiled!

The "Great King Enma" is a super popular character of the Yokai Watch series. His ultimate form, "Yasha Enma" which no one has ever seen yet, will appear in this work!! Wielding the strongest weapon, the "En Ma Rod" (1), and using the "Dragon of Ice" and "Dragon of Fire", he displays power like that of a fierce deity! Will fierce fights unfold at the "Enma Butōkai" where the next Great King Enma will be chosen?! Please look forward to the battles of the coolest Great King Enma to date!!

"Yasha Enma" Enma, bearing the name of fierce deities that appear in mythology, the "Yaksha" (2). In his hand, the strongest weapon, the En Ma Rod. He won't just appear in his regular form, but also forms in which he controls the "Dragon of Ice" and the "Dragon of Fire".

Notes:

I had previously translated the name of his weapon 炎魔棍/Enmakon as “Enma Rod”, but I decided to spell it as “En Ma Rod” now, to make it more clear that it’s not spelled the same as the name “Enma”.

“Yasha” is the Japanese spelling of “Yaksha”. I use the Japanese spelling for his name, since we also spell “Enma” like in Japanese, rather than calling him “Yama”.

Corocoro has some more information on Yasha Enma that the website hasn’t covered yet. So I will go over those next.

Note that last month, I had mistakenly romanized “Benibana“ as “Kōka”, since it was really hard to read the furigana for the names.

It also seems that “Rasetsu” and “Benibana” are supposed to be the names of the two dragons themselves, so it’s a bit confusing about how those names also seem to refer to these two forms of Yasha Enma.

Notably, the merchandise I’ll go over in the next segment seems to call the forms “Yasha Enma Rasetsu” and “Yasha Enma Benibana” instead.

Yokai Watch Merchandise News:

Boys Toy Web has added two new Yokai Watch items to their list.

-

First we have the “Yōseiken Series 04: DX Ashura Goen-maru Yōseiken & Yōkai Ark Set”.

In other words, the 4th Yōseiken toy, and as always it comes with a special Yokai Ark.

The Yōseiken in question is of course the Ashura Goen-maru, which has actually been in the Shadowside anime for a long time, where it’s wielded by Dōketsu.

For a while it’s been unclear if Dōketsu was its Kenbumajin, but now it seems that he is not, and that it’s actually Ashura (Asura).

The special Yokai Ark that comes with it is an Extreme Rare-ranked one of “Sekka no Fubuki-hime”, following the trend of these bonus Arks seemingly always being a special form of a yokai who debuted in the original series.

This set will be released in December.

Next is the “Yōkai Arc Zero ~The Other Side of the Silver Screen” pack.

This is a special Yokai Ark booster pack related to the upcoming movie.

As always, each pack has 1 random Ark in it. There’ll be 13 Arks included in this series:

We got 3 Ultimate Rare ranks: Nekomata, Kappa, and Zashiki-warashi.

This time around, their backsides feature their Godside forms: Cat King Bastet, Kappa King Sagojō, and Tengu King Kurama.

Then there’s 4 Extreme Rare ranks: Yasha Enma Benibana, Yasha Enma Rasetsu, Shien, and one that’s secret.

We got 2 Rare ranks: Kukuri-hime and Karasu-tengu.

Karasu-tengu was seen in the most recent trailer, but I don’t think Kukuri-hime has been shown before. She is presumably based on the mythological Kukurihime, but her name is spelled differently.

And 3 Normal ranks: Yamata no Orochi, Tamamo no Mae, and Yamambā.

Interestingly, Tamamo no Mae is just referred to as “Tamamo” in her Lightside form here.

Yamata no Orochi is a legendary dragon, whom Orochi/Venoct seemed to be slightly based on, but we had never seen the real deal in Yokai Watch. Yamambā is one of the names of the yokai Yama-uba.

Curious that these guys are all Normal-ranked, Tamamo no Mae especially seems like she should be more special, right?

This booster pack will also come out in December.

Corocoro has also shown off a black Yokai Ark of Yasha Enma, and announced that they will be giving away 10000 of them in their January issue.

I think, because of how the issue naming works with this magazine, that might actually be the issue that comes out in December, but I am not sure.

Corocoro mascot/employee “Kaa-kun” made this tweet, showing off the Ark in question:

With the three Yasha Enma Arks, and the Ark of Shien, we’ve been shown a new tribe symbol, resembling a sun:

It seems reasonable to assume that this symbol could possibly represent the Enma Tribe, but it doesn’t seem to have been confirmed as of me writing this.

But it is reminiscent of the moon-like symbol of the Izana Tribe that Kaira belongs to:

And lastly, Yoroz Mart is going to release plush toys of Junior, Nekomata, and Yasha Enma in December, as seen in this tweet.

Yokai Watch Mobile Games News:

This is just going to be really minor, but I wanted to go over it in some form regardless.

Corocoro revealed that the Great King Enma, in his original, young form that first showed up Blasters, will be added to Yokai Watch World soon.

And, you have probably heard of it already, But Yokai Watch Puni Puni is currently having a crossover with Dissida Final Fantasy, adding many characters originally from the Final Fantasy franchise as puni.

The offical Level-5 youtube channel has also re-uploaded their trailer for the mobile game “Yokai Daijiten”, which you can see here.

Though they still haven’t added a proper release date for it, in fact, it only seems to say “release date to be determined” now.

In case you don’t know, this game was first announced back in 2016, I believe, alongside a smartphone version of the first Yokai Watch game.

If I recall correctly, they were scheduled to be released in 2016, but when that year came and went, the release date was updated to 2017, and now, as 2018 draws to a close, many people thought they got cancelled, but this re-upload implies that Daijiten is still being worked on in some form.

The official website for Yokai Watch 1 for smartphone says that it will be released in 2019 now, but I haven’t seen anyhting else from it.

FANTASTICA MANIA HYPE TRAIN!  #3 : Dragon Lee(c) vs Kamaitachi for the CMLL World Lightweight Championship at Fantastica Mania January 24th 2016

Fantastica Mania is right around the corner so much like I did for the G1 in the summer, I thought as the resident CMLL guy I’d do something similar for Fantasticamania where I would look at various fun matches from the CMLL/NJPW crossover event that has been happening since 2011.

Who’s who?

Dragon Lee is in red and became a fan favorite of NJPW due to his feud with Hiromu Takahashi/Kamaitachi while the latter was on excursion. There he wrestled under a mask for a time before Dragon Lee unmasked him in a mask vs mask match at 2015′s Homenaje a Dos Leyendas.  This is Dragon Lee’s 2nd defense of this belt at Fantastica Mania defending vs Virus on a previous night on this 2016 tour. This is the 5th time Kamaitchi challenged for this belt, the two having 4 previous matches on Mexican soil for this title.  

Kamaitchi who most people likely know as Hiromu Takahashi. Kamaitchi being a name borrowed from a yokai, which takes the form of cyclones/dust devils and cuts people. People may notice the lack of locks on Kamaitchi, this is because weeks earlier he lost a hair vs hair match to Maximo Sexy at CMLL’s annual New Year's Day event Sin Piedad(No Mercy). Hiromu Takahashi probably had the best excursion in recent years. While Yoh, Sho and Naito all got times to shine, the Lee/Kamaitchi rival being one of the best in either CMLL/NJPW. 

How’s the match?

Great! These guys have taken on one another a surprising amount of times considering Dragon Lee is only 22. This is really what Fantastica Mania should have more of. They bring over 20 guys from CMLL and have the entire NJPW roster at their disposal. I’d like to get more dream interpromotional like this one. Though in 2016 Hiromu Takahashi actually worked more with RoH than NJPW/CMLL. Still I’d love to see Ultimo defend his belt vs guys like Ishii, Soberano Jr. vs Kushida/Ospreay and Goto defending his Never belt vs someone like Hechicero. 

This year seems to be the least NJPW talents they have ever had on this tour. I am excited for this approach too. As I think it means this show will stand more on CMLL talent while some of the previous tours have felt like they relied too heavily on NJPW talents. So I’m not sure how I feel about it... conflicted? We will see how it turns out in the end. Anyways enough about this years tour and instead let’s discuss this match! 

I really enjoy this, it’s great and you should watch it. I feel like that’s all I need to say. This rivalry is legendary and actually is somewhat known by people outside of lucha circles which is rare for most feuds that are 70%+ contained in CMLL.Is this the best match in that feud? It’s likely in the top 3, which is a compliment since these two have met 16 times before. I’d probably say they topped this match in the rubber match they had in CMLL a couple of months later. Which would be Takahashi’s swan song in Mexico. One of the reasons I might prefer that over this is also again I like 2/3 falls. It’s just a format I prefer especially with two super quick guys like this. This match could have easily had 2 extra falls and not really lost anything. 

I also think someone might prefer their mask vs mask match from 2015 more as well. It probably wasn’t as good as this, but it was a huge break out moment/match for both men. The spark that set off the timebomb that Takahashi would be come and the explosive feud he and Dragon Lee had. I hope these two fight another 15 times because every time they meet in the ring magic happens. A fantastic case of Lucha-resu and probably the best example in the past few years.

The Lifeline of Tsukuyomi

Hello, and welcome to the first installment of Amrita Memories, a collection of crossover vignettes between the Yakuza (Ryu ga Gotoku) series and the game Nioh, re-imagining your favorite professional criminals as 17th Century samurai, ninjas, and mages, with a dash of demonic invasion and protective spirits.

“You a magic man?”

Akiyama looks up from the pot of boiling broth. The new arrival almost fills the cave mouth entirely. Only the barest light, already filtered by the gloom of the storm raging outside, squeezes past his bulk. The ring of fur around his neck has long since drowned; rain drips from every channel of his armor plates.

“I prefer the term yamabushi,” Akiyama says, shifting to face the stranger, “But yes, I’ve been known to write the odd spell or two. That what you here for?” He suddenly chuckles, flashing a grin. “Sorry, sorry. I forget myself, it’s become so routine. Please, come in.”

The arrival stoops to fit inside the cave, tracking mud and wet behind him. Something nudges Akiyama’s hand. He looks down. It’s the white twin of his tonfa set. Hana, sitting nearby, pushes it closer. Shun gives her a comforting smile. He’s dealt with oni before.

The newcomer drops to the ground and Akiyama flinches, half-expecting the whole mountain to quake under his weight. By the campfire’s light, he can tell he’s a samurai. Was, at least. His garb is battered and broken in places, stained with the toils of a journey. What could be dirt is more likely blood. The enormous hammer on his back looks like it’s heavier than he is. Shun is glad it either hasn’t been used recently, or has been washed clean from the deluge. He doesn’t like the sight of brains.

“I have soup coming up in a second,” Akiyama says, “Why don’t you tell me about yourself?”

The stranger hesitates, grappling with his own thoughts. He climbed a mountain for this. Might as well trust the so-called yamabushi. “My name is Saejima Taiga,” he finally says, “I need your help.”

Akiyama glances at Hana. See? his look says, You were scared for nothing.

She shoots him a frown right back. The moment yokai know we’re up here, we're ruined, it replies.

“What kind of help? I have charms for money, luck, clarity of mind. I’ll tell you now, they’re not guaranteed to work. You can’t slap them on your head for an instant fix. You have to want them to work.”

Saejima shakes his head, spilling droplets across the cave. “Nothing like that. You can get crap like that from anybody.”

Akiyama’s eyebrow twitches. “I like to think they’re not cra--”

The samurai lifts his breastplate. Sitting inside, sheltered from the storm, is a spirit. The smallest one Akiyama’s ever seen, it could fit in his palm. Just a fuzzy ball of nigitama -- positive energy.

“How do I care for him?” Saejima asks.

Shun swallows his heart. “Put it back,” he says, nodding when Taiga tucks his armor back into place, “How long have you had it?”

“A day. Bad things were picking on him. That wasn’t right, so I stopped them.”

The yamabushi glances at the hammer.

“Couldn’t leave him behind,” Saejima continues, “He’s so little, you know? So I picked him up. Put him somewhere safe. Heard rumors you could help, so I came here. Can you?”

Akiyama touches his chest. “Did you know to put it there?”

“No. Seemed like a good idea.”

Shun thinks for a moment. Extracting three cups, he ladles soup into each. “Tell you what. Let’s sleep on this. I’ll have a better idea what to do in the morning.” He gives a cup to Hana and offers one to Saejima.

The samurai takes it, looks at the contents. Pieces of rabbit, plant roots, a few vegetables. He can’t be picky. Few people are willing to lend even wilted greens to a wandering disgrace.

“Cheers,” Akiyama exclaims. Everyone drinks. He spoons seconds and thirds for Taiga before he subjects himself to the shame of asking for more.

Hours later, when the storm has calmed and Saejima is twitching on a bed of straw, Akiyama goes to work. He feels a tad wretched for drugging his pilgrims, but how else can he judge them at their most sincere?

Tasogare bumps his fingers. Shun interprets it as comfort instead of the common sleepy wobble the baku calls a gait. He strokes down the pillars of stardust along its spine and feels the simultaneous sensation in the back of his mind. Touching his spirit is like putting his hand to a mirror and sinking into it like the surface of a pond. Touching himself and, at the same time, not.

Tasogare knows the drill. Despite the glow from its fur that paints the cave walls in shades of galactic violet, Saejima doesn’t stir as it approaches. It sniffs his skin, ox tail sashaying, and places the end of its trunk over his ear, mindful of its tusks.

Akiyama watches a bulge travel up its length. When Tasogare has collected enough, it slips its trunk into its mouth and swallows deeply. When it reaches for more, Shun kneels, extracting three talismans from inside his joi.

The first is for divination, for the wisdom and empathy. The second is for healing, for apologizing for what he has to do. The third is for protection, for a suit of armor around his mind. Just in case. They are far more potent than anything he gives his visitors, and he feels their effects the instant he casts them on himself. He is within and above his consciousness, watching it expand and drop roots, the cave and the mountain beyond coming into hyper-focus. 

“Ready when you are,” he murmurs.

Tasogare turns to its host. Not a hint of a sway in its step this time. This is their duty, solemn and sacred. Akiyama gives the spirit’s paws a gentle squeeze. I’ll be fine.

The eye on the baku’s forehead opens and the cave is obliterated with consuming light.

It’s a battlefield. Akiyama has seen them before. A musket round sails past his face slow enough for him to spot the gases it trails from exploding gunpowder. He lets it pass, and wanders on.

Dreams are always slippery. A combination of his self-protective onmyo magic and the simple fact that the dream isn’t his makes them liquid and loose. This one is made worse from the smoke in the air, belched from cannons and untamed fires. Deep gouges made from stomping hoof and sprinting boot rake the earth into ash-topped waves. Men hide behind barricades, peeking out to raise their rifles. The bodies -- piles of corpses everywhere, thrown together to make way for soldiers soon to join the ranks of the dead.

Movement ahead. It’s Saejima.

He is fury incarnate. Swarmed by infantry, he pays no heed to the swords and spears clanging off his armor. Men fly with each swing of his hammer -- ribs crushed, limbs smashed, blood spilled. A soldier rushes in with his blade. Taiga knocks it up and brings the hammer down on his head. Red mud conceals the worst of the pulped skull.

Eighteen. Eighteen men destroyed for the sake of Lord Sakon, who doesn’t know he exists.

Saejima is on number nineteen when it happens, almost too fast for Akiyama to see. It comes from behind the yamabushi, the sound of flesh splitting open giving it away. He turns to face it. There’s no mistaking what it is. A snake the color of gore, tearing through the smog, whipping from one haggard soldier to another, bashing through their chests with jaws wide open, no hesitation, no remorse.

A spirit.

Akiyama raises his arms, braces himself, staring as the serpent barrels down on him with rows of fangs and a ravenous maw--

It blasts past him.

Shame flares hot in Shun’s chest. A novice mistake. This isn’t his dream. He isn’t here.

But Saejima--

The snake makes a lightning-fast revolution around Taiga, plowing through the men surrounding him, and it is out of sight, slashing over the battlefield for more prey. Ankle deep in the dead, Saejima tries to take hold of his thundering heart. He looks toward Sakon’s camp, toward some sign of order.

The ground jolts beneath their feet as huge crystalline spikes erupt from the earth. Akiyama stumbles to a knee and dirt grits against his palm. His breath catches in his throat --  if he can feel the dream, the protection talisman has worn off.

The sky turns crimson. From a crevasse in the earth the demon rises, bones from countless dead creeping together to form its six arms, its whip-like tail. Amrita lies caged in its chest and embedded in its skull. Two-thousand feet tall, born from hatred and magic blacker than midnight, the gasha-dokuro roars its rage.

Saejima flees.

Akiyama, shocked to his core, almost doesn’t notice. He turns and Saejima is gone. The pile of bodies shifts. It’s victim nineteen. Miasma pours from the ground, seeping into the gaping wound the snake spirit left in his chest. He looks at his fallen comrades even as aratama consumes him, swallowing his humanity in a thick case of orange hide, bristling horns, and jagged fangs. The newborn yokai bellows and lifts its blade.

Akiyama runs.

All around him, monsters are arriving. Soldiers rise to their feet, flesh sloughing off in thick, gray sheets until they are no more than skeletal wraiths. A one-eyed giant wrenches itself through a swirl of darkness. From the corner of his eye, Shun spots a heap of deceased mold themselves into an oni larger than a house. He tries to ignore the fire in his lungs. This isn’t really happening. He isn’t here.

Saejima--

He almost passes him. Taiga hasn’t found shelter -- the charred wood of a fallen tree is no barrier against devils. Still, he hides behind it as well as he can, curled into a ball. Akiyama kneels, reaching for him while around them the twilight of humankind looms.

Cannons blast from the Tokugawa camp. Saejima clasps his ears as four shots fly overhead. Three miss their target. The gasha-dokuro bats the fourth one out of the air. The round explodes uselessly against its hand. Shrieking, the demon counterattacks, spitting a volley of ghostly energy. Saejima bolts, scrambling as the air itself seems to harden around his feet.

Akiyama’s talismans splinter like twigs. He has no idea what will happen -- if the nightmare is so potent it will chew him up, if the underworld will rot him from the inside out. He bares his teeth, hands balling into fists. So be it, he thinks, If I die, I die helping my fellow man.

Golden eyes open as the the gasha-dokuro’s attack rains around him -- Tasogare’s eyes--

He’s in a forest. A dirt road. A decaying sign, nearly impossible to read in the mist that clings to his clothes and drips from the trees, points the way to the nearest towns.The only sound is wind through the leaves. It smells pungent with new, fresh growth.

Ten years have passed.

Shun breathes deep, reaching out with his mind for Tasogare’s presence. Cut it a bit closer next time, won’t you? he thinks. The baku stays hidden, but he feels it turn. He follows its gaze.

Saejima, walking through the undergrowth. Armor beaten and bashed, black hair slipping out from beneath his kabuto, the old soldier moves without destination, hammer leaving a furrow in the dirt as he drags it behind him. Anything to stay away from the aratama hounding him. Wriggling legs and a core of yellow energy propel them through the air. There are eighteen in total. One scurries ahead of Taiga, brushes against his cheek. Flinching with disgust, he slaps it away, and it joins the rest of the pack.

Lord Mitsunari is dead. Lord Sakon has vanished. Saejima is a ronin.

Akiyama follows him.

Emboldened, the aratama stage another offense. Weaving under and around each other, they nip at Taiga’s ankles, his fingers -- digging into gaps in iron plate and sinking needle teeth into his skin. “Enough,” he grunts, “Leave me be.”

We will never have enough, one of them whispers.

We had wives, another murmurs, We had children.

We became monsters, they say, So monsters we become.

Jaws find a tendon. Saejima chokes on a cry, crashing to the ground.

He imagines he will lie here forever. Perish and sink into the earth. He knows he is bound for the depths of the Sanzu River, for the cold waters to trap him for eternity. He deserves his fate, and so he stills, face in the mud, and waits.

Something growls.

Saejima knows he’s going to die, but he isn’t interested in being eaten alive. He lifts his head and sees a small shrine carved into a tree.

Within shines the prettiest light he’s ever seen.

A group of foxes circle the tree. The once holy creatures are shot through with amrita. The stones jut from their bodies like tumors. Their muzzles are coated in dry blood. Two of them are small, but the third is huge, easily the size of a bear. They snap their fangs and pant and whine, purple tongues swollen and hungry.

He reaches for his hammer. An aratama breaks a tooth through his fingernail.

Cringing, Saejima staggers to his feet. He’s already cursed. Nothing can worsen his situation. “Hey!”

The foxes turn toward him, hackles raised.

The ronin holds his hammer. “Pick on someone your own size!”

It’s over shockingly fast. Something activates in Saejima, a conduit wide open between his weapon and his soul, so blinding in its brutality that the foxes are defenseless. One catches a hammer to the back, spine broken backwards. Another is smashed upside the jaw, sending it crashing into a log. The third, the largest, spits an orb of foxfire.

Saejima reaches through it, oblivious to the heat splashing against his chest, grabs the fox’s throat, and slams the steel-hard horns of his kabuto onto its head, caving in its skull.

The corpses dissolve into shards of amrita and noxious gas.

Taiga slings the hammer onto his back. The little light in the shrine is unharmed. It’s truly beautiful, a pearlescent egg of a substance he can’t identify. Otherworldly and terrified.

“Sorry you had to see that,” he mutters, “That’s how it is.”

Realization hits him like a rock slide. He hasn’t felt this good in a decade. Even the blood dripping from his ruined nail isn’t painful. He looks over his shoulder. The eighteen aratama are staying away. Milling around each other in restless channels, and keeping their distance.

The light. They hate the light.

Saejima makes a decision before it even occurs to him to do so.

“Um,” he starts, unsure how exactly to speak to, quite frankly, the supernatural, “Listen. It ain’t safe here. You got lucky this time, but I have to keep moving. You want to come with me? If not, uh, smite me. Or something.”

He scoops the light into his palms. No bolts of lightning, no chasms opening beneath his feet. It weighs nothing and everything simultaneously. He slips it under his breastplate beside his heart.

If there’s a shrine out here, he thinks, there must be a village nearby. Somewhere to beg for a meal and pray no one recognizes an old enemy. He finds the dirt road, aratama trailing behind him.

“You have a name?”

No response.

“That’s fine. I don’t talk much either.”

Akiyama watches the reincarnated soldier until he fades into the murk of the dream. The forest comes undone. Trees and grass and ground meld into a hazy slime. Tasogare wraps its trunk around his hand, and as its third eye shuts, Shun knows what he has to do.

By morning, the rain has stopped. Saejima awakens to sunlight and clean air. He sits up and yawns, stretches his legs. Hana sits nearby, boiling water for tea.

“Mornin’,” he says. A hint of a smile twitches his lip. “Maybe there’s something to being a weird recluse. I haven’t slept that well in years.”

He turns deeper into the cave. Akiyama leans against a wall. The yamabushi’s face is pale, his eyes hang with shadows, and his clothes are covered in dust. His fingers are red and sore.

Taiga scowls. “What’s wrong with him? Get into some bad mushrooms?”

Hana purses her lips. “No, not this time. Must’ve been something he ate.”

The ronin stares at her, a hand touching his chest. Reacting to his heartbeat, the spirit pulses against his plate. “So now what? I came up here for noth--”

Akiyama startles awake with a cry. Hana nearly topples over. Saejima grabs for his hammer. They left it within my reach last night, it occurs to him.

Shun rubs his eyes, groaning. “Sorry, sorry. I...didn’t get much rest last night. Wanted to catch you before you left though.” He shifts to his knees, reaches into his joi.

The magatama is sunset orange. Though in the proper teardrop shape, its edges are rough and sharp. Freshly chiseled. There is a leather string through its hole.

“You don’t need my help,” Akiyama says, offering the charm with both hands, “You’re doing just fine. This is my gift to you. It’s a ward against evil, an enduring shield, and fuel for growth.” He bows his head. “And it will work, whether you believe me or not. Always. You have my word.”

Saejima hesitates. A purple thing sits behind Akiyama. Although it’s almost too sleepy to stand, tilting on its striped paws, the gleam in its eyes, open just a crack, is knowing. Taiga knows it’s a baku. And it’s been in his head.

He could kill them. They know who he is. If they squeal to Tokugawa’s forces, he’s as good as dead. He could kill them and throw the bodies to the crows and keep the cave as his lair.

Tiny mouths gnaw at his flesh.

He takes the magatama and slips it around his neck. It might be his imagination, but did the spirit kick against his chest? “Thanks.”

Shun looks up and smiles. “Don’t mention it. If you need anything else, you can always ask.”

“Yeah. How do I get out of here?”

The yamabushi explains. Turn right at that rock, make due west at that bush, mind the sheer cliffs and loose gravel. When he’s confident Saejima can make it off the mountain, he bows until the ronin leaves.

Then collapses face first to the ground.

A tug on his shoulder helps him sit up. “Nightmare?” Hana asks.

Akiyama sighs, pinching his brow. “The worst I’ve ever seen.” He stares at the ceiling. “I saw Sekigahara, Hana. The rumors are true. For a brief time, the yokai realm conquered ours. What does this mean about our shogunate? They’ve covered it up for years.”

“Is that a bad thing? Most people think yokai are just superstition.”

Until they turn up at their front door, he thinks. After a moment, he says, “Hana, would you hate me if I became a member of polite society again? Just for a while?”

Hana smiles, petting Tasogare’s trunk. The spirit leans into her touch. Akiyama feels it too, both as a comforting hand on his cheek, and a kind push to follow his dreams. “Only if you forget to bring me back a souvenir.”
