Certain fans pretending that Darius being a rebel came out of nowhere is so funny, because while, yes, the show's writing is not the greatest, and it is understandable for a casual viewer to miss the Blimp scene or that later Darius doesn't restrain the kids, but some of the supposed fans who over-analyze everyone else, just so happen to miss the way Darius talks to Hunter from the Blimp and that if Darius was a 100% bad guy there would be no reason for him to clearly indicate that he thinks capturing the children wasn't something to be proud of - especially in that tone of voice and with that expression, and that there was no reason for him to lie this way if he wanted to manipulate Hunter, and that that scene was meant to be a clear hint that he had a moral code of his own and wasn't absolutely on Belos' side, all before the episode's ending.

(And it is also funny because he is in only two episodes before the rebel reveal, in one of them he is already established as a complex character, so there is just not even enough episodes of him being a villain to declare that the rebel stuff came out of nowhere)

And it is absolutely understandable to just dislike the show's writing choices (i think its writing is at best uneven, but often just weak), but with some fans it is very clear that they only have problems with Darius and only because of Hunter and the one-dimensional, worst possible fanon interpretations of Darius' actual actions. (< - and this is my actual problem, not that someone missed some hints or just have a different interpretation). Especially blatant when the same fans defend almost every other writing choice.

And of course it just happens that fans almost never have problems with Eda and King's writing, even though they are main characters, and some choices about their relationship are much more puzzling if you look at them with the same scrutiny fandom looks at Darius.

And among white Hunter fans there is almost never any care or thought about how Darius being a villain would fit with what characters like Belos and Odalia represent, and what it would mean and how it would have been handled considering the way the show already treats its characters of color, especially black characters, and how it would fit into the existence of the trope among fantasy shows of putting dark-skinned characters into oppressive roles. But there is no consideration or care about it.

Today's topic- the change in animation in LMK

I know like the majority of the Fandom has probably been sent to the ER after season 5 animation (or the emotion couldn't tell) but I think someone said that the animation slightly changed from like the Pilot to s 1-3, somewhere there, so like 3 different animation at this point, maybe??

Alright here's my thoughts

Okay for real this time-

When I first watched LMK, I fell IN LOVE with the fluid motions, the active movement, the anime-style Influence, the exaggeration, the most random fun moments, pop ups, yse of environment, angles, camera movement, facial and body expression and other stuff I don't know the name of

Now as someone who's never watched Anime, please don't kill me, I don't exactly know what that looks like, but try going anywhere on the internet without tripping down the stairs and falling into the basement of ANIME

Also, I'm used to more rigid, beautiful backrounds, great lighting, or basic show animation. Such as Trollhunters, Amphibia, The Owl House, Big City Greens, Ninjago, How to Train your Dragon, Carmen Sandiego and others

So as you can see, this was new to me, and I fricken loved it

Now I can tell there definitely has been change from the Pilot to season 4, more refined, less sloppy

So, when season 5-

Oh dear, I love you Wild Brain, I really do, Ninjago and Carmen Sandiego WERE BEAUTIFUL

I will say this, this is a new artstyle, they need practice, and I'm sure it'll improve, but this is not that time it's time to CRITISIZE GET THE RED PEN (maybe I am an English Teacher)

Remember what I said about what I love about LMK animation? Okay now throw it out the window into the Fire of FRICK THIS

Now I will say, they used some angles pretty well, such as using the environment to show emotion/tension, like when it would Pam out and something was blocking the two characters, from Wukong to Macaque to the poll in the Pagado and then a mountain between MK and Wukong near the end- look for its cool- someone pointed it out here on Tumblr can't remember name sorry

2nd, the expressions look really typical, like I miss the shot eyebrow from Wukong, or the the pathetic puppy eyes of MK, or the :3 for Mei, or the furious faces of Pigsy, the sparkly pure joy of Sandy, the chaotic gremlinness of MO, the evil Edit maker smiles of Macaque (I've seen your tiktoks) ALL THE LITTLE EXTRA THAT MADE THE EXPRESSIONS AND HUMOR/TENSION/EMOTION BETTER

3rd, the movements. Seen especially in the second episode when they escape. It's just, so basic running, like compare them running to MK's run in s2 running from the LBD and then when he ran in s4 away from the Ink scroll. Just so much more fear and dread. Also talking bout LBD, her voice actor? Phenomenal as always? Her movements and how they animate her? She seems more like a red headed doll with button eyes than the horror of something like FNAF(haven't played FNAF so can't really compare) what I'm saying is she seemed less huanting, a weary, fear-instilling, and bone-chilling(shut up let me pun) presence this time around, which really makes the scene less dramatic, but the camera angles, voice acting, and some animation still make it somewhat good.

Okay, this post is getting long and I can rant all day, and that's not even with me rewatching the show to pick it apart, someone probably already has good for them I'll look for it👍

In conclusion, comes of more dull, simple, rough, and rushed. S5 story, which has some problems, really hit deep in the last few episodes, mostly MK and Wukong, and if the studio beforehand continued animating, then I think it would have been a masterpiece, really sad to see the wasted potential

I know it's a new studio, but I wish they took more time to practice and learn, and maybe do it on a season that wasn't like the big reveal and end (I'd say a more happy season but let's be honest the Trauma train ain't stopping for a LONG TIME)

so, I guess I'll give it a 4/10, points for using the backround to storytell, still got some great angles, some funny bits here and there (the soldiers where a joy), action scenes were somewhat good, not a lot can't judge more, and pity points because I know they're still learning

Her name

Tori stands for Vittoria. Why Vittoria? Because she is half-British and half-Italian (from her mother's side) 🤌. I chose the name because I like to think that her parents thought about  Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy, both sovereigns by the time of Tori's birth.

Why Turin?

Because well, it's my birthplace! Also, Turin is a special city: it has a lot of esoteric story. In a few words, this city joins London and San Francisco to create the triangle of Black Magic, but also the triangle of White Magic too with Lyon and Prague.

Future

Spouse: Poppy Sweeting (she IS wife)

Career: Auror and Natty is her partner, they're thick as thieves and menace to their superior

I think that Poppy's mission is still saving beasts from poachers, so I headcanon she is a sort of mix of Auror and magizoologist (guys, I have no idea about careers in wizard world lol)

Residence: Hogsmeade (I headcanon that since she is a Keeper, she doesn't want to live far away from Hogwarts, I'm also too in love with Hogsmeade)

My personal headcanons with future wife Poppy 💛

Even if they're in the same house and same bedroom, Poppy had never spoken to Tori before their first Beasts Class together because the last was often away and Poppy herself is a night owl, visiting Highwing or studying beasts, etc.

Poppy was also sure that the new fifth year will become like her schoolmates. Because sure, why the new cool, brave student will be friend with Peculiar Poppy? But fortunately Tori is such a good egg, kneazles can confirm.

Tori decided to kneel in front of the Graphorn (because we're not a monster, right?) following Poppy's example. It was Poppy that waited patiently for the mother dragon to take its egg back. It was Poppy that put down her wand when centaurs came to her. And of course, you should show respect to an Hippogriff before approaching.

That's why she chose to kneel. The Graphorn has fought well, it deserved respect.

Poppy felt in love first. Tori felt harder. Like she is kind of in denial for a while and then BOOM she falls and realises and she is panicking "what? Aaaaah what should I do now?!"

Poppy doesn't need protection but loves how protective Tori is.

Their love language is physical touch. Every single one. Surprise hugs from behind? Lovely! Forehead kiss? Adorable! Cuddles in the vivarium with beasts? The best!

Should I really say it? Poppy is an adorable little spoon and love to be wrapped in Tori's arms.

Tori is a golden retriever. Already from day one when Poppy asked to follow her in the forest.

Tori feel like she could die because of Poppy's cuteness, often screaming "STOP BEING SO CUTE AND SO KISSABLE I CAN'T FOCUS"

Poppy is a great cook, Tori isn't at all. But a few times she has tried to cook to cheer Poppy up. The result was messy but still edible and Poppy appreciated the efforts.

I have a very sappy proposal headcanon.

Tori proposed to Poppy after a couple of months after graduation (lesbian couples move fast, okay?) and she decided to be extremely romantic.

She studied where and when to find Mooncalves' dance and saved the day on her calendar. When the day came, she took Poppy and flied on Highwing to the special place.

Poppy thought the surprise was the mooncalves' dance, instead she turned around and found Tori on her knees, with a ring in her hand. A very shining ring that a selvatic niffler has tried to steal before Poppy could say yes, jumping from a bush the moment the ring sparkled under the moonlight. The little beast had caused little chaos but fortunately they catched it before was too late. With the retrieved ring in one hand, and the beast thief in the other, Tori asked grinning "do you still want to marry meee?"

I've surely more facts and headcanons for my MC, but I think this post is already long enough!

Small fandom rant, feel free not to read.

I don’t really care what an artist has done as a person, unless they’re like literally hitler or someone who you’d punch in public for their crimes, I find it a bit sad and annoying how so many artists online are willing to tear down someone else’s art to say “I did it better.” It’s one thing to give constructive crit in good faith, and it’s another to make an OC-ified version of canon out of your love for something, but creating something out of spite will almost always ring hollow for me. I see so much good art duct taped to posts about how “here I fixed it” or “lol you can’t draw” and I think back to the time when I learned the phrase, “you’ll attract more flies with honey than vinegar.” It disheartens me to see artists and people I’d know to be kind and constructive not extend the same kind of care hey show irl to someone online based on their parasocial relation to them. It’s such a low-stakes game and people will act like a mid show having characters they enjoy is the end of the world, and in doing so will take personal snipes and make insults at the art instead of addressing the actual problem head on, because it’s easier to derail and funnel attention and love towards yourself instead of ask that others improve. I love redesigns born of love. I love rewrites that try to see an artist’s vision, but at a certain point I wonder if people even like what they’re making art about or if they’re slapping something recognizable over top of it in order to ride trends.

The internet normalizes clout chasing to the point where I feel like we do it almost instinctively. That little insult or sly comment at the end of a post, that’ll sway people to your side. Saying why you don’t like some person despite not knowing them. It’s valid to have your opinions but I wish people would act like they would in the real world. You wouldn’t go around and scream at someone who you saw post this one thing one time. You wouldn’t punch someone based on a rumor, or verbally berate them in a restaurant. Yet people post so much shit online and it’s so normalized that we don’t even register it as a sign to log off anymore.

I feel like social media is something incredibly important for communication, but it’s currently designed in a way that centers ourselves and how much dopamine we can get, whether it’s at the expense of others, ourselves, etc. And we’re part of the problem too, we refuse to change and recognize that maybe internet points aren’t worth it and maybe it shouldn’t matter what people think of us. And maybe it’s an opinion I have but I shouldn’t judge someone based on what fraction they put out on the internet of themselves. Maybe I should cook myself a snack or go out for a walk or sit on the balcony or in the yard, talk to a friend face to face. Again, I love what the internet has done for accessibility but every accessible thing is locked behind a service designed to ignore vitriol and anger towards one another.

I guess I fall prey to this too, but I’ve seen this pattern happen again and again and again. There are people behind everything that’s made, and unless it’s ai or something stolen, an artist put their time and heart into it. It’s part of the game to have tough skin but I wish it didn’t have to be a necessity because of spiteful people.

I guess I should add an addendum, this is about a pattern I’ve seen in many a fandom. This isn’t about the morality of a show’s crew or whatever, that’s a conversation for another day that I’m not getting involved in because the personal lives of others are no business of mine. Hah, there I go again. But in all seriousness. I’ve seen it in Hazbin Hotel. I’ve seen it with High Guardian Spice. Velma. Steven universe. The owl house. Any new show I’ve seen come out where someone decides to have a moment and say “I will create out of spite and a need to be seen.” I wish artists didn’t feel the need to ride trends and that we’d value each others’ work as much as something put out by Disney. But that too, is a post for another day.

Something I think we all need to be reminded of from time to time is that a piece of media can be groundbreaking and culturally important/significant while also just... not being very good.

Robinson Crusoe is a very important book in English literature, being the first English novel, and it's absolutely terrible. Not even just in a 'culture has moved on and oh- oh dear, that is- oh dear, Tuesday' sort of way (though there is very much that), but in a 'this is actually, literally such a slog to read through due to the poor writing quality.' However it still broke ground for this writing format in English culture, and the works that followed it were able to exist and improve as a result.

Similarly, The Legend of Korra and Steven Universe are both very important shows in regards to various sorts of representation. At the same time, they also both suffer from poor writing. Steven Universe's greatest failing, in my opinion, is that it approached a lot of difficult, important topics in a way that lead to fandom diatribe rather than discussion. The does not make it any less important a show. As many people will be quick to point out, it broke ground on a lot of topics, and there are plenty of more recent shows, like Owl House, who benefited from its existence.

Heck, it's probably even why I'm getting a bunch of LGBTQ+ graphic novels that I adore. The show's a hot mess for a lot of reasons, but it's still important and it's still a very good thing that it got made.

Something doesn't have to be 'good' to be important or even beloved (seriously, if you want to throw rocks at something I love that's got super weak writing, DBZ is sitting right there, I'll hand you the rocks, the Buu Arc hurts my soul). In fact, I think it's especially important we take a loving but critical eye with ground-breaking media in order to see what parts worked and what didn't, so we can continue to improve it as we break further ground.

Sometimes it really does feel like The Owl House was explicitly designed for cartoon Twitter, down to its lackluster redemption arcs that make sure to scrub away all flaws of the characters quickly so that Twitter folks don't think they're "problematic."

So there's a lot to be said about TOH being fandom bait. The explicit call out to fanfiction early on, the coven system also being the school divisional system that theoretically should have led to more Hexide OCs but for a LOT of reasons didn't, and the fact that a lot of what the show seems to think is clever is stuff you'd find here on Tumblr or on Twitter. Hot takes about tropes like The Chosen One that doesn't actually think about the narrative role of those tropes and why they're tropes in the first place. Just that the idea of a trope is a bad thing. For the character arcs though... I don't know. I've talked admittedly about how much I hate posts that go "Look how far she's come!" while showing Amity from her first appearance and then like S3 Amity who's smiling like she's improved as a character. Changed? Sure but improved? That's... That's a much tougher cookie.

I think the lackluster arcs more have to do with two main elements of the writing (or more so the lack there of): Patience and complexity. Character arcs are incredibly hard to pull off right after all and much harder than character growth. The transformation of a character should be effectively a subplot if you're going to have them have a major shift in who they are. That way the change feels deserved, is understood by the audience and you got the proper drama out of who they were.

This requires a beginning, middle and end to most arcs. Zuko's for example has each volume cover effectively one of these stages. We get his beginning as an angry boy and we explore properly why he is while showing signs that maybe he could change. Book two pinballs back and forth on whether he will continue be an asshole or finally find peace like his uncle wants for him until the dramatic twist of him choosing to work with Azula. And finally we have a proper conclusion to him with his choice that being in the Fire Nation doesn't make him happy. This isn't the honor he wants, something that was always technically there but REALLY needed all this time explain why the character figured out that himself.

For The Collector, Amity and Hunter... TOH skips straight to the Azula betrayal. To the final mistake of the character before the rest of their arc makes them regret and rethink that decision and what they have done for that which they desire. This is why Amity is different than her first two appearances. Why Hunter and the Golden Guard are effectively two different characters. Why a season hop is all it takes for the Collector to not be a childish god but a god-like child.

This is from TOH's lack of patience. It likes its big moments but doesn't like the wandering. The moseying with an element to properly explore it. It's part of why the longer the series goes on, you have two options with how these character develop: It either nags at you the fact that their beginnings were discarded so quickly or you just forget that they had those beginnings at all.

I do want to shout out Lilith here who actually starts in her middle phase actually. Part of the strength of S1 is the question of if Lilith will or won't turn in Eda and that's part of what makes Agony of a Witch so good. It then sours because what happens afterwards sucks and makes little sense to who we saw in S1 but at least the middle IS there.

What about the beginning though? You'd think that be important and TOH agrees! Which is why its lack of complexity is the next problem for it in this: It needs to craft an excuse for the first appearance that also makes it so that the character can continue just being who they are supposed to be at the end of the arc/who they always were depending on how you want to look at it. This is why we get BACKSTORIES! Bad backstories. Backstories that simply blame it that bad behavior on someone else. It wasn't anything they internalized or the like so stop asking. That way you can say Amity was a good hearted child who had that heart clouded by her parents and then those clouds were shined away by Luz and that sounds like a fine enough arc because she was always a good person and so returning to that good person was easy. Hunter gets this the WORST. Theoretically, he should have some sort of theme of being his own person but... His excuse is that he's Caleb. Caleb was a good guy who was into witches so when Luz makes him question for a second, Hunter becomes the same. It's... Bad. Plain and simply.

This cuts out the middle. In a lot of trilogies, one might claim that cutting out the middle doesn't hurt much because not much needs to be resolved. You can't really do this with a character arc though. The middle is the questioning. It's when the character actually examines who they are and starts figuring out the answers that will lead them to wherever their arc is going. Effectively, the middle is the WHY for the arc. The beginning is the foundation and the end is the payoff but neither mean anything if there's no point to the arc and the middle is usually what actually provides that. For Zuko, it was his troop through the Earth Kingdom that taught him what his belief in honor was and fortified it before Ba Sing Se made him properly question that by bringing up the question of what brings someone honor with the tea house. In coming to accept that Iroh was also honorable for his serving of tea, Zuko was able to even open the door to other possibilities for regaining his honor than the biggest or the most obvious.

This is missing from pretty much all of the TOH characters... because it has to. It literally has to. TOH wants an excuse for the first introduction after all before transitioning them into simply the character they are. In that process, the old is discarded. It's like how Eda's history as a criminal becomes much more patchwork in S2 because she's now been replaced with Mama Eda. TOH has no interest in combining the two so it comes up less and less until S1 is ignored in Edge of the World so Eda doesn't trust Hooty to protect the house, despite OBVIOUSLY being capable of it back in S1, and she's nothing but a complete worrywart about effectively every threat posed against her children. There's a medium ground to be had there... But TOH just doesn't even try to explore it or acknowledge it.

Lilith, because she has the most of a middle, is the biggest victim here. S1 never brought up history. S1 never made her blatantly act like an idiot. You could see her enthusiasm in victory but she was okay with failure. She was by all accounts a very functional person who provided a good base for Eda's hijinks but that didn't make her the joke, it made Eda's pranks or teases the joke.

In S2, she IS the joke. She is desperate for attention... Because Belos is effectively her scapegoat. Or her mom. Or just wanting validation in general. I can sympathize with that as someone with Avoidant Personality Disorder... But the show doesn't earn that. Instead she just makes a hard, 90 degree pivot come S2 and doesn't look back.

These arcs don't function like this. Not unless you literally boil them down to "They were mad but now they're glad." Which hilariously enough, doesn't actually even apply to Zuko. Zuko learns to be calmer, but glad? Motherfucker LOSES IT right at the start of the finale and not only is it justified, it's in character still. Because Zuko has the complexity, and the story had the patience, so that when his arc ended, he was the same character we first met but better and with better morals. The Owl House simply can't say that.

the first time you meet, you’re both children: him, the fresh faced golden guard to be, and you, the house pet taken from your home for the emperor’s amusement

they talk about you like you can’t understand them (calling you and your kin objects and unable to think, that you’re animals and nothing more) and belos encourages him to hit you — and he does, without hesitation

it’s painful and sharp, a sudden smack to the side of your head, and it has you flying to one side, mewling and whimpering at the feeling

and they laugh and he’s praised and they move on

you were both 7 then and things didn’t improve much as you both grew up

you were gifted to him when he was promoted to the role he was made for, the both of you just 14 then, whilst your mother and siblings had been kept by the emperor himself

you never heard about them — they could have been dead or alive for all you knew — and you were reliving your kidnapping all over again

your new home was just smaller: a single room with a single window that was too small to fit through and a single door that was always locked and a single bed with one creaky post that you were chained to practically 24/7

you were given food and water, barely enough to survive but it was better than nothing, and occasionally he’d put down a pillow for you or bring you some scraps from his food

you liked those times, longed for them

because you didn’t know any better

but for everything he was, hunter was generally nicer than his uncle and he didn’t hurt you as much after you started living in his room

yes he’d scold you when you cried and would muzzle you if you tried to talk to him — but he never beat you or threatened you like belos did so you found yourself liking him a bit more

even if he perceived you as dumb and as a pet that couldn’t take care of herself (he said as much and you’d have disputed it if you could speak his language)

because apathy was better than cruelty

but after a few years of this treatment, something changed

your ‘owner’ became more gentle, talking to you quietly and taking care to bring you more food and show you affection

he even got rid of the muzzle

he talks to you about his doubts, his fears, and he divulges the actions of the emperor to you — and you’re empathetic and try to comfort him as best you can

you and flapjack are the only things he can trust — and you share your concerns privately with one another

though through it all he still treats you like a pet, like you can’t understand and you’re working off instincts

and, whilst annoying, being a pet isn’t as bad as being an object so you don’t fight it too much

so you just let yourself go along with what’s happening — helping him through his panic attacks as they become more frequent and trying to do what you can with the sparse info the palisman gives you

and, eventually, once he’s fled the coven he takes you with him and leaves you at eda’s house — asking them to take care of you whilst he goes into hiding

leaving you somewhere far away from the emperor where he knows you won’t get hurt (guilty for his actions when he was younger)

and there you find someone who understands you — luz — and you feel more loved than you had done in the years since you were separated from your family

but you still find yourself worrying about him, whether he’s dead or alive, and asking the human if you can help her look for him

because he didn’t know any better when he hurt you, and when he learned he let you go — and that was far more than most witches would have done for your kin

because you knew first hand just how cruel and vengeful the emperor could be

because he didn’t deserve to die

Some updates/ personal notes under the cut!! Like, its really personal its almost narcissistic!

PRONOUNS: I go by she/they now!!! I've always had a lowkey gender crisis (fueled by an existential crisis really) so I am FINALLY trying this out. TOH ENDING: I'm really sad that the owl house is over...but I'm so glad I got to meet so many cool people in the TOH fandom!!! I don't talk much here but I do read the reblog tags :) The brainrot was so serious that it made me draw basically everyday the past year (even if its a small doodle) and i really feel like i grew as an artist, and I honed my skills although I still have a long way to go! I can see improvement in my framing and colouring skills :) I think I might do some funny compilation video in the near future...

A BREAK/MINI-HIATUS: I am considering taking a small break from fandom. It might be a few weeks or maybe less, depending on how quickly I get out of this slump. I am guessing its a burn out from all the negative news regarding AI 'art' and being tussled round by the twitter algorithms. Also maybe because i did two epic pieces back to back... I have a lot of ideas and I really don't want to stop posting art online! I want to do sort of a post-WAD/pre-epilogue HW comic series, as well as a grom animatic :)

THANK YOU HUNTLOW ugh they mean so much to me... I know its silly because its a silly little fictional ship. But its really unlocked some creativity in me that I lost? Along with such a lovely community, it has really inspired me to keep drawing! Maybe its a right place at a right time thing, but after watching ASiaS, it gave me brainrot so much that it kicked my other bad habits out the window! I got to do so much cool stuff i always wanted to do including making an animatic, comics, being in a fan zine, epic pieces, making stickers... I can't believe they are canon now its been such a journey to watch this ship and the shippers blossom :)

We can confirm Papyrus for most mistreated just by the sheer fact that you, poll runner, put him up against Hunter in the first round (pensive emoji) To be fair to him (and us, the Papyrus enjoyers) he put up a hell of a fight. The difference in Hunter and Papyrus' fandom experience is night and day. Hunter is beloved. Hunter is celebrated. People HC he is neurodivergent and it is used to elevate him.

Papyrus, intentionally or not, is written like he's neurodivergent and the fandom took one look at him and for the last nearly 8 years has decided he need to be murdered to further his brother's angst-overfilled storylines, or that he's too stupid to live and is taken advantage of, or that people aren't allowed to swear around him or telling him his poorly cooked spaghetti is bad because otherwise Sans Will Kill You. Like as someone who reads Papyrus/reader inserts, it drives me fucking nuts, it's ALL reverse harems focused on Sans. The ones that don't are shit like. Fucking. Sans threatens to kill you if you even date Papyrus. Sans threatens you with his eyes from across the room if you dare even THINK to suggest Papyrus' spaghetti could be improved.

A trope I have seen on more than one occasion is these shitty reverse harem fics tagging it for Papyrus/reader romance and then they have Papyrus say he's ace and he just fucking ceases to exist. Horrortale Papyrus is meant to be the same as UT Papyrus but he gets a different ending that goes wrong. On at least one occasion in these terrible fics where Papyrus says "I'm Ace" and then ne does the peace sign and fades away, horror Papyrus is also there and even though the FIC ACKNOWLEDGED THEY SHOULD BE THE SAME, THEY SAID HORROR PAPYRUS WASN'T ACE "ANYMORE" which just proves people put often make classic Papyrus ace to kick him out of the big kids romance room, which as an ace person pisses me off.

One of my favorite fics ever involves the world being reset after the reader develops a relationship with him and suddenly it's a murder run and reader remembers Papyrus exists so they go into the mountain and are helping SANS FIGHT FRISK???? And there's like one fucking chapter left and we don't even get to see the reader rebuild their relationship with Papyrus after the reset, it's just "That was fun NOW TIME FOR SANS GLOWY MURDER EYE WEEEEE"

And that's one of my favorites. One of the most popular fics in the fandom is literally Papyrus being tortured by Flowey to make him "less innocent" so he can get into the royal guard.

I did a count of all the major endings in UT and out of roughly 18 major endings 9 of them involve Papyrus being dead or very sad (two sad, 7 dead)

Papyrus deserves to return.

no need to blame me. i do not hate papyrus so much that i put him against a character in the first round i knew he would lose to. dont know what you're getting at here but see what i did was put some unpopular fandom characters against popular fandom characters and some popular fandom characters against other popular fandom characters. so undertale, popular, against the owl house, also popular. im not an undertale fan so i knew nothing about papyrus, i also new nothing about hunter. i knew "popular fandoms" and put em against each other. sorry bud. root for papyrus in the redemptions.

sims 2 corruption is wild like in strangetown there’s this poor dude called knut futa right. i mean already unfortunate on account of his name already, along with being a victim of serial killer olive specter, but that’s the least of this mans worries. this dude has the unfortunate distinction of being the most glitchy sim ever. his grave doesn’t even show up because his character file is so fucked he doesn’t even count as dead. he completely lacks any personality, interests, memories, genetics, age, anything, so the game treats the man as a baby despite him being a full grown adult so he just lies on the floor. any attempts to do anything to help him will fail. he cannot be interacted with. he cannot be aged out of his baby hell because the game will crash. his data is SO borked the community full of bonkers talented programming wizards CANNOT fix him. his data isn’t even formatted correctly. this poor man got hit by the game corruption beam and no one can save him. f in chat for knut futa.

Normally I don't enjoy doing super serious vents on fictional characters because well, they are just that. Fictional. They don't exist in real life and I usually don't find it worth getting super upset over them, especially if they are characters like Micha from Red Dead Redemption 2 who are written to be hated anyway. But I'm sorry, I will never understand how anyone in there right minds can say that they genuinely like both Stella from Helluva Boss and Odellia from Owl House. They are abusive, manipulative and toxic parents that have little to no redeeming qualities to them at all and my reasons for hating them as much as I do hitting way to close to home for me.

On one hand you got Stella who is in an arranged marriage with a man she doesn't even like but still goes though with it anyway because "money", actively makes fun of Stolas to her friends sometimes in front of him, doesn't even seem to care about there daughter Octavia compared to Stolas who cares deeply about there daughter and is willing to put up with Stella's bullshit just so Octavia can have a chance at a happy life, act's very controlling over the two, has admitted to Stolas she's hired a hitman to try and kill him and has openly admitted the only reason she hangs around him is because she enjoys tormenting him.

And then you got Odellia who's just as controlling over her own daughter Amity, made her daughter break off her friendship with Willow despite the two being very close friends all just because they didn't approve, also didn't approve of her daughters relationship to Luz even going as far as to get her, Willow and Gus expelled from school, tried killing Luz at a public show case of her newest abominations and while I haven't seen the newest episode yet because I've been busy with a bunch of other stuff I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up in that and gives me another reason to want to punch something.

Look I'm sorry for getting really heated over this but I wasn't kidding when I said before that these two hit way to close to home for me because I've had to deal with TWO toxic members of my family in my life and still have to deal with even as a 26 year old. My farther who's an angry ape of a man who yells when things don't go his way, get's mad at me for standing up for myself despite also telling me to stand up for myself once, constantly lies about the reason why my mother divorced him, never beloved that I had autism despite getting a professional to confirm it for us, has in the past emotionally manipulated me to try to convince me to see him any time I didn't want to see him and when I once fell over and broke some of my bones as a child and was screaming in pain loud enough for him to hear me he instead called my mother to come and get me to take me to hospital instead of doing it himself because "he was busy."

Then my step mother who came into my life five years after that divorce, is massively controlling over me despite me not being her real son, judges everything I do and anything I like to the point where nowadays I don't even come out about any of the things I like anymore, blamed me for an accident that happened to my farther when it was something I had no control over nor was I anywhere near him when it happened, took my phone away and read my personal notes, constantly probes me for information about what I do when I'm not with them, has regularly called me gay just because I never had a girlfriend growing up, never had much interest in getting one and still don't, actively makes fun of me and when I confront either of them about my issues with them both they never bothered to improve or try and understand me instead opting to make me feel like I'M the one in the wrong meaning that any issues with my personality and social life can be traced back to them!

So seeing characters like these two in any media I watch and even one of these two being defended by the fandom despite being the one in the wrong pisses me of. I think you can guess who I had the displeasure of seeing this weekend two from me finally deciding to come out about all this. I'm sorry, I've just had this building up inside me for so long and wanted to vent about it.

Dawn of a New Year- 2023

Another passed dateline, another revolution, and other witty holiday-appropriate aphorisms here. Like a bolt from the blue, it’s time for my own year in review.

What’s there to say about the year behind me? Not much that makes it unique, but not every year needs to have some flagship moment to define it. It was enough to just be another length of time where mostly less than major stuff happened. I guess I get that impression because my situation in life is pretty much the same as it was this time last year, and it doesn’t show any signs of changing any time soon.

Like I mused on last year, it’s nice to have a place that feels comfortable, that works and provides well while being basically secure enough to stay in indefinitely. At the same time, it leaves me with the sense that ‘indefinitely’ can’t mean forever. There are other things I feel I have to move on to from here. It would be *very* nice if I knew when to move on, or even what those things I have to move on to are in a little more concrete detail. I feel it’s almost a risk of getting stuck in this security and not taking the steps to step forward, waiting for the right moment without realizing that it won’t get any easier until I start moving. All I can say is, the answer wasn’t this year. We’ll see what light that 2023 will be able to shed.

All that vague nonspecific concerns for the future aside, this was a good year. I spent a lot of time with the friends in my life who are so dear to me, in all their various arrangements. Spending time visiting in person friends, on call hanging or playing games with friends who are more distant. I’ve been part of the longest and most fantasy-epic-feeling DnD campaign I think I’ve ever been in. I’m even on other peoples’ streams sometimes, and some very cool streams at that. (Guess this is the part where I plug that, so, uh, here.) And my friends brought me on board for my latest fandom enjoyment by inviting me to our Owl House group watch.

I played some good games this year. I experienced the choice collection of Shimomura tunes in KH Melody of Memory, got to copilot a friend through my incredibly beloved Outer Wilds and its DLC, and partnered up for the incredibly how-has-this-not-been-thought of experience of TWEWY online co-op via Parsec. (I also checked out its sequel, which definitely lived up.) I took another friend through Return of the Obra Dinn’s deductive mystery after being wowed by it myself. Midway through the year, I found myself very charmed by Ikenfell, a game that does a *lot* of things right- I’d say it’s my recommendation of the year. Then to round out the last months I ended up *really* sucked into Splatoon 3 (at this point I’ve seen so many salmon, but I never get tired of it). And, wouldn’t you know it, I also had the chance to do the special run event with another beloved friend.

So I guess that’s the theme of this year, if I really had to put something down. I got to share so many things, so many conversations, so many experiences, with so many people. I know that people being in my life can change with very short notice (and this year bears witness, I saw multiple friend groups and communities undergo some painful restructuring before my eyes), so I don’t ever want to take their presence for granted. If you’re reading this, you the mutual reading this, know that I cherish you, you are dear to me, you are crucial to my online world being as enjoyable as it is, and I hope with all my heart for you that this new year has everything that you’re hoping to see in it.

To whatever the next year brings, I hope we all come out better for it. Ultimately, to be a little better and a little more improved each day is the best outcome I can wish for myself and the people I care about.
