The interaction we saw between Buck and Tommy was so critical in highlighting the healthiness and stability of their relationship.
Not only did Tommy recognize that Buck wasn’t okay and that he was trying to deflect with humour, he actively made space for Buck to express his emotions and talk about what was bothering him.
When Buck shared anecdotes about his family and his team, Tommy reciprocated and opened up about his own issues with his father.
Tommy actively acknowledged that he was a worse version of himself under Captain Gerrard (showing that he’s not trying to sanitize or hide his past from Buck).
Tommy is matching Buck pace for pace in this relationship, and that’s so important.
The bar may seem low, but we’ve never seen this level of equality before with Buck’s partners, not truly. Buck is always the one giving parts of himself away, the one deflecting and masking himself with humour and self-deprecation. Tommy doesn’t let that happen.
More importantly, he lets Buck dictate when he’s ready for the conversation to move on. The moment Buck turns the conversation in a flirty direction by asking about Daddy Issues, Tommy immediately notes the change of tone and rises to meet it, giving us an absolute sniper of a line “God I hope so.”
These two are in lockstep with each other. They’re still in the early stages of their relationship and getting to know each other, but the way they’re going about it is so incredibly healthy. They’re going slow, getting to know each other, and building up the anticipation with each date and moment spent together. They’re creating something special here. Something meant to last.

Every time someone in this godforsaken fandom says "I think we've talked about misogyny enough" I want to hit them with a hammer. No we haven't.
We haven't even talked about the deep "Ruikasa&Akitoya Vs. literally everyone else" imbalance enough but imagine all of the people that get pressured into writing specifically for male/male ships simply because otherwise they won't get any appreciation.
Yes it's a cowardly thing but when you see Ruikasa having over 4000 fics and Ichisaki having like 5 in total obviously you're going to be discouraged. Obviously you'll be biased into creating Ruikasa instead of other ships.
And as someone who depends on appreciation in particular to do any work at all obviously that's going to have a lasting consequence. Some people spend 4 hours crying in front of a screen just for 3 people to like their work and leave, it's understandable if they lose passion for creating at all, you guys killed them.
It's even in how we handle m/m ships. You go into a fic that's tagged Rui&Tsukasa(platonic), someone in the comments always goes "okay but when do they kiss". You go to an action-packed longfic, someone always ends up going "okay but when do they kiss".
Fuck you guys. Actually. This is a silly piano tiles game about Hatsune Miku, we should be one of the MOST CREATIVE fandoms in history and somehow people still get mad over two boys not kissing immediately after getting introduced. It's so fucking difficult being a content creator in this fandom because you always end up having to take the same route. They meet they tease they kiss. End of story. "Oh you're doing something "lame" instead? -1 kudo. Bring me my yaoi next🖕"

It’s not that Enid didn’t like kissing Ajax.
Really. It was perfectly pleasant. He was nice, sweet, and always attentive to her. Ajax was all she could ever have asked for. It was just that she’d always thought it would be… more. More exciting. More interesting. (More…). Less of a chore.
Enid had always been fascinated by romance, ever since she was little. She would watch movie after movie, read book after book about people falling in love. She would be on top of every gossip and rumor regarding people’s love lives (celebrities and acquaintances alike). Enid could hardly wait for her turn. And yet… Yet when these stories displayed kissing it was a big deal. The perfect first kiss that would sweep a girl off her feet and feel like fireworks and upbeat music and would make it all worth it.
She supposed they were only exaggerating after all.
Her kiss with Ajax was good. Beyond good, even. But it was only that. It didn’t feel life changing or like much really. Only like his lips were being pressed against hers. Which, they were. That’s the whole point of kissing, she keeps having to remind herself. Of course movies and books would oversell the idea, they want to keep their audience engaged, after all.
So no, she didn’t dislike kissing ajax. She would even say she enjoyed it. But she couldn’t shake the feeling something about it felt off. She just couldn’t quite put her finger on what exactly that was.
(Though her claws seemed to understand. Why they kept coming out, as if she didn’t want it, as if she was threatened, was beyond her.)
