SOS two of my coworkers swapped shifts and now I’m worried tomorrow is going to be awkward and bad
#so basically tomorrow i was scheduled to work with my manager and also my 19 year old coworker (let’s just call him josh since that’s#tedious to type out)#but now josh is working today instead and the coworker i have a crush on (we’ll call uhhhhh gerry) has taken his shift#and there’s still no fourth employee so that means it’s mostly going to be me and gerry barista-ing while our manager does managerial shit#it’s going to be SO chaotic. not least because i want to [redacted] him#it was already going to be chaotic with just me and josh; but like. i get along really well with josh; i’m not attracted to him#(because he’s 19) and also fundamentally he actually knows what he’s doing. he’s worked there for like 9 months#me and gerry both started at the same time 3 weeks ago. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE DOING#if anything i think i’ve done more shifts than him which means i might actually know More than him which is like… oh god#i hoped the day would never come when i’d be the most knowledgeable person there#i just hope they at least find someone to cover the lunch shift because i just know it’ll be hellishly busy tomorrow and we might die#i’m also worried about it being awkward because i don’t think gerry particularly likes me. maybe i’m just projecting/worrying too much about#his opinion of me because i think he’s cute. realistically i don’t think i occupy any type of space in his mind#but it’s like. what will we talk about#i wish it were socially acceptable to show up to work drunk or at least a little tipsy.. i’d be so much more fun#as it is i’m just going to have to be like. hi gerry. 😐#when in my mind i am thinking AHHHHHHGHHH#please please god let them schedule somebody else in as well. anybody else. even if it’s just for like 2 hours. even if it’s someone i don’t#like. or at least let my manager not have too much managerial shit to do#personal

could you please write about colby and reader where reader falls asleep on colby during a movie night kinda thing where their friends are there too
Late Night In
Tumblr media
We all sit in the comfy, red chairs in the movie theater, while Sam, Colby and Nate share the snacks and drinks they brought from the kitchen.
"I can't believe you made all", Colby pauses and moves his hand around the theater where we're all gathered, "watch White Chicks", he laughs and i chuckle, chewing on some sour patch kids.
"And i can't believe this is your favourite movie of all time", Josh turns his head around to talk to me as he's seated in front of me.
"Y'all just expected from me to only watch hot guys on the screen", i shoo them with my hand and start the movie, while Colby dims out the theater lights
"Oh what i'll do for a Chris Evans movie", Kat sighs and we all laugh
"Get out", Sam tells Kat and she throws a popcorn flower at him, making all of us giggle
The movie follows its course and i chuckle like a little kid at almost every scene, feeling great when everyone laughs every now and then. Colby puts his arm over my shoulders and brings me closer, kissing my temple. I inhale his scent and i smile, looking up at him and giving him a quick kiss on the lips. He smiles back at me and i intertwine our fingers together, kissing the back of his hand. I turn my attention back to the screen and laugh loudly along with our friends when the girls try to make some pants fit one of the guys that's disguised as their friend, their struggle and grunting making the scene delicious.
Colby starts playing with my hair as he pays attention to the movie and i make myself comfortable, getting closer to him and resting my head on his shoulder. He kisses the top of my head and holds my hand with his free one, squeezing it gently as a comforting gesture. His fingers twirl strands of hair and move my hair around in a chaotic pattern, but gently enough to make my eyes feel heavy.
The next scenes become blurry one by one, feeling unable to keep my eyes open. I fall asleep soon after and i feel Colby's lips on top of my head and he rests his cheek on my head as he continues watching the guys and girls on their get together at the beach. Sam, Kat, Josh, Seth, Kris and Celina all laugh at what's happening, making Colby shush all of them.
"Can you be a bit more quiet?", Colby asks, smiling. "She's been really tired lately"
"Oh, shit, sorry" Kris says and watches the two of us. "I wasn't prepared for so much cuteness, Colby, why are you doing this to me?", she laughs, the others joining her too
"Oh, look at you two", Seth whispers and Colby chuckles
"I don't know about y'all, but I've already picked a tuxedo for when I'll be your best man", Sam slurps on his white claw
"And i have a dress in mind", Kat doing the same
"I'm so happy to see you all so supportive of us. She's the best girl i could ever ask for and i feel so lucky. Having you all get along so well feels rewarding in a way", Colby's smile makes his cheeks hurt and he caresses my shoulder, while glueing his cheek back to my head
"She's a great match for you, man. You're so much more alive since her, she lit that spark back into you", Sam winks at him and Colby agrees, nodding
"That's so true. I have no words to describe how much i care for her"
"You don't need words, we can see it clearly. Anyone can, actually", Celina points out
~
The movie finishes and i feel Colby shift in his seat. I raise my head and groan when i realise i fell asleep, leaving everyone else watch a movie that i picked.
"Good morning", Colby jokes and he gets up, holding me by my hands to get up too. I stretch and yawn, picking up the popcorn bowl to take it back to the kitchen. "I'll take it back, you go upstairs and get ready for bed, I'll be there in a minute", i give him a quick kiss while thanking him. I pass by the living room to go upstairs and i see everyone chilling there.
"I'm so sorry i dipped while watching the movie. I know it was my pick, but i hope you at least enjoyed it", i smile in resentment and hug Kat, using her as a pillow until i reach the bedroom. She holds me by my hands and smiles.
"We loved it. Kris actually learned how to make the same voice as the white chicks", Kat says and we all laugh at Kris' attempt to speak like one of the disguised men. "We had a really interesting conversation with Colby, by the way. About you", she whispers so no one could hear us. I frown, waiting for her continuation. "He's crazy about you and he loves you a lot, y/n. Everyone can see it, you're the best thing that happened to him and we're glad to have you as our friend too", she squeezes my hand and we smile at each other.
"Good, because my feelings are the same, i love you guys a lot", i hug her once more and call it a night, bye bye-ing everyone until morning. I get changed in my pj's and get in bed, Colby following a few minutes after. I extend my arms in the air as he gets on the bed and he crawls in my arms, his head on my chest and his arms around me. "I love you, babe", i caress his hair
"I love you too, princess. But sometimes i wish you'd really understand how much i actually love you", he raises his head to look at me
"Oh, i think i know", i smile and he raises an eyebrow, before his eyes grow wide
"Did you hear us in the theatre?"
"Oh, no, Kat spilled everything", i laugh when he rolls his eyes
"I should be careful what i say", he jokes and i hit him playfully
"You better not mess up with me", we both laugh and Colby comes next to me, switching off the lights.

I hope no one got mad at the group of friends i chose

You were finishing some stretching exercise the doctors had given you that helped with pain and allowed you to sit better when Jeonghan and Seungkwan popped by your side.
“Can I help you guys?” You smiled. The two of them were especially careful around you in those two months that passed in the temporary house you were in.
“Yeah, Y/n, you actually can.” Jeonghan nodded and returned your smile. He and Seungkwan held your hands from each side. “We prepared a surprise for you. Do you think you are able to go with us to the deck?” The room you’re staying has an access to the deck of the house, this was decided so the human doctors could have easier access to you without startling the hybrids.
“Sure, oppa, I think I can. Help me out, you two.” Your smile just grew bigger as the hybrids practically carried you to the wooden deck. They cracked jokes and were mindful of any discomfort you could feel during the 5 minute walk you three had to accomplish. You then were sat in a padded chair that was part of a circle of other five chairs with a campfire still off in the center.
“What are you guys up to here?” You asked.
“Wait here for a minute, Y/n. Don’t move, okay?” Seungkwan dropped a fuzzy blanket on you before he and the older one turned and disappeared inside the house. You sighed and let a little giggle out. Looking around, the small backyard was still strange to you… You started to feel melancholic missing your own home when noise came from behind you.
There were Jihoon leading Seungkwan, Dokyeom and Jeonghan. The four had food, drinks and other fun camping accessories in their arms and had big smiles on their faces. It was normal to see this combination of hybrids around, since they had similar hobbies and energy most of the time…
“Now we can finally start our campfire!” Seokmin was clearly excited. You and the others laughed while the hybrids distributed the food and the drinks. Jihoon and Jeonghan started to try to light the fire while the younger ones sat beside you. “Do you like our surprise, Y/n?”
“We wanted to relax a little and wanted to spend some calm time with you… The last few months are a little chaotic for all of us.” Seungkwan explained. Your smile failed a little.
“Thank you, guys.” You sighed before coming back to a happier mood. “We all needed this, it’s a really nice idea.” You patted both of their heads with care and the canine hybrids cuddled you a little before the others called for their help.
---
“And the hybrid discovers fire!” Jihoon couldn’t help himself and screamed when they were capable of lighting up the fire… After an hour or so of trying.
All five of you laughed out loud, finding the situation ridiculous but still funny. Finally, the boys were able to sit with you and the group just spended a moment looking at the flames and enjoying the warmth and the silence of the night. Seokmin was starting to move and find something to play with when there was a noise inside your room and a voice shouted from there:
“You guys are doing things without me again! That’s not fair!” You all turned to the glass door and saw Joshua coming in your direction with a guitar in one of his hands. You opened a yellow smile while the others died from laughing.
“We did warn you that we would be starting, hyung!” Seungkwan got up to help the older cat hybrid, who was already gasping for air. “You were the one who decided to go search for the guitar Mark-hyung gave us.” He started to nag as he helped Shua to a chair and draped a blanket on his back.
“Well, I think it was a great idea.” You defended the Snowshoe cat hybrid. “And you arrived at the right time, Josh, we just got the fire going.” He smiled at you before robbing the occasion maknae of his just opened snacks.
“Yeah! What is a campfire without some songs?” He pouted a bit before starting to eat. All the boys went back to laugh and your night officially started. Everyone of you six were enjoying the vibe, telling jokes and sharing lighthearted experiences.
Jeonghan and Joshua shared about the gossipy aunts that took care of them. Seungkwan shared about the best hot cocoa his first owner made him on a cold day. Jihoon told everyone about pretending to be a nocturnal monster to scare new trainers. And Dokyeom told about the sunny days with his family he could remember.
You did some sharing too but being careful to not mention much about the hybrids your parents helped… Your boys didn’t like them much. As the night went by and you all got cozier and more emotional, Shua took the guitar out.
“Sunday morning, rain is falling...” He started the newest song he had heard with his beautiful and delicate voice before being interrupted.
“No!” “Stop!” “Enough of that!” The other boys drowned his singing, getting a giggle out of you. Seungkwan got up, passed Shua’s guitar to Jihoon and sat again. “Now, let’s sing something we are not all tired of hearing already.”
“I just learned that last week!” Poor Jisoo complained. This time, not even you came to his defense. Since Jackson showed them Youtube, the boys developed very specific tastes in music and videos to watch… Joshua had been constantly listening to that song. Everyone, including Josh, laughed and then started to sing sweet funny songs.
The vibe was warm and you haven’t felt this relaxed and in peace for a long time after the attack. The younger boys started to fall asleep on their chairs while the older ones started to go deeper in some experiences into some healthy(?) trauma bonding. You were just enjoying the talk, giving some input here and there.
At some point, you stared at the stars far into the night sky. Your eyes started to close, you had to fight to keep actively listening to the conversation around you. The warmth and your body finally out of the alert state made your fight a lost one… Right before you were completely in Morpheus’ arms, you heard:
“Sweet dreams, Y/n. We’ll look out for any nightmares.”

god, forgive me.
pairings. louis partridge x fem!reader
part two of n/a parts.
about. maybe lighting a girl on fire has more pros than cons?
Tumblr media
warnings. foul language
ricky rocks. about time i update lol
seeing stacey golifolk get lit on fire was about the funniest thing louis had ever seen.
everything slowly went to shit and he just absorbed it all with a laugh caught in the back of his throat, rubbing his palms against his thighs as he couldn’t move anything else; completely glued to his seat.
not long after you pressed the gold staff against the cape did you drop the thing on the ground underestimating on how fast the cape would fully light on fire. you had jumped away quickly like a startled cat, eyes wide and a feeling of astonishment bursting through your chest at the chaotic sight.
now stacey wasn’t fully lit on fire, but rather just the old silk cape and some of her pretty hair, but otherwise, she was completely fine and safe the moment father george had come to realization what was happening and tackled her to the ground, then attempting to cease her wailing.
your eyes went wider and any urge to laugh was caught in the back of your throat as you felt multiple eyes on you now and the realization of how dumb of an idea it was.. came to light.
you could only imagine what odessa was thinking right at that moment, but you knew it wouldn’t be good.
**
“what a fucking show,” finn was clapping slowly as he made his way toward the corner of the courtyard where enya and sabrina already stood with not so impressed looks. “i think maybe they should crown bimbo blondes more often if that’s what entails every time,” finn begun to light a cigarette, “no offense sab.”
“none taken,” she raised her hand slightly, waving him off in a timid way. she could still smell burning hair and she didn’t find it amusing as much as finn did with the slim fact that stacy was a friend of hers, and she’d definitely be hearing about it whenever the girl decide her now half balding self. “just don’t vote me in.”
“no promises, sweetheart,” he leaned in with a wink causing her to scowl before snatching the cigarette that he had placed between his two fingers.
“okay, chuckles,” she rolled her eyes, taking a drag from the cigarette, “who even was that girl?”
“probably some ninth year,” finn tsked, “all those newbies are crazy this year.”
“no way,” enya shook her head, “how do you guys not know chicago, we’ve been going to school with her since elementary.”
“sorry, never heard of her,” finn extended his hand out, leaning against the wall.
“you would know her if you saw, you’re both potheads. you guys have noses for each other.”
“funny,” he scowls, taking a drag.
“now was that a show, or was that a show?” josh was grinning from ear to ear as he came stumbling into the courtyard with louis stumbling behind him. “almost thought i was seeing things for a minute.”
“oh, man, you know what i was thinking,” finn smiles now, looking between each of them as he now slings his arm around josh and sabrina, an idea popping into his mind. “now that it seems that all hell has broke loose here at saint mary’s, why don’t we ditch this place.”
“and do what?”
“what do you mean ‘and do what?’ sabrina, what do we always do?” he practically pulls her into a headlock with the arm he has around her, looking down on her like she was one of the dumbest people he had ever met.
“are you okay, lou,” enya interrupts the beginning of their bickering, noticing louis who seems like he is straying away slowly from the group as he tips back and forth on his feet. “you don’t look so hot.”
“thanks,” his voice is tart as he looks at her, his face almost turned sour with narrowed brows.
she wasn’t lying and suddenly they all take note of the sweat beading in his hairline and the redness of his cheeks. he looked winded, stressed out as he looks between each of his friends, but not directly into their eyes.
“you sure you’re alright?”
“fine.”
“josh, what’d you give him?”
“hey, hey, hey,” josh swings up his arms in defense, “why did this suddenly get turned on me?”
“because… you practically have pain killers and oxy falling out of your pockets, now what’d you pop to lou?”
“jesus, what is with all of you,” louis looks between each of them, “need to fucking relax, i’m fine.”
“don’t look fine.”
he ignored sabrina’s comment as he looks to finn, motioning at him, “now what’s this plan about ditching school?”
**
“chicago, you are about the dumbest bitch i have ever met.”
“i hear that a lot,” you were grinning from ear to ear as you sat into a slump on one of the park benches laid in the outer grounds of the school, lighting a cigarette.
she ignored you, continuing, “you’re lucky they didn’t kick you from school or even punish you,” odessa shook her head as she paced back and forth in front of you—who couldn’t care less. “jesus, chicago, getting high everyday is one thing, but lighting a girl on fire? you’re fucking insane.”
“she fucking deserved it,” you giggled, shaking your head. “my luck is unmatched, o, should know that by now.”
“no kidding,” she shook her head before finally looking at you straight on. “try to restrain yourself from fucking someone else’s life up today, i’m going to class.” she didn’t even try to coax you to come with her to class, she was over it.
after everything was under control and half the students were in the court yard, father george had called you into his office where two other teachers stood beside him, overseeing the meeting—something you were sure was an intimidation method to get you to speak the truth—which didn’t work, obviously.
he had asked you if you had purposefully laid the staff on stacy, to which you said no and begged to be forgiven, popping a few tears. he fell for it like a fool, letting you off with only a small lecture to be more mindful.
odessa wasn’t very fond of this outcome, hoping you’d face some sort of punishment. sometimes you wondered if she really cared about you—which she did, you just both had very different ideas of how you should live. she had hoped if you were punished, or expelled, you would come upon a reality check and get your life straight.
that obviously wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.
“well i be damned, it’s the devil herself.”
somehow seeing you out and about was absolutely barreling to finn. he wasn’t sure whether or not he was seeing things correctly, but by the way you were looking at him, he was guessing yes.
“you stopping and staring and acting like you know every other person does not help us get to our objective.”
“are you fucking stupid, mate,” finn sends an elbow into josh’s gut, motioning out to you, “it’s the star of the show today, the leading lady, our lord and savior! josh are you blind?”
josh squints at you as you squint back, frowning hard at this already strange interaction. you knew people that went here were strange, but not this strange.
recognition kicks in for josh and a grin slowly crawls up onto his face, “chicago, you really saved us in there from that head girl and head boy bullshit, i’m sure louis would have to agree. that’s the best thing since jerry coles let one rip louder than… well whatever is loud.”
what the fuck. who were these people?
“yeah, don’t mention it,” you looked between the two who stared at you like a zoo animal, completely amazed by the simplest movement.
“i’ve heard you got a fix for the devil’s lettuce, how about we thank you and smoke you up?”
your ears immediately perk up to this and you suddenly couldn’t sit still on the bench, “sign me up,” you stood up, swinging your arms around both of the strangers, “just give me when and where and i’ll be there, boys.”

Josh hadn’t been joking about the 6AM pick up, knocking sharply on the door to Harlow’s hotel room at 5:59AM. Answering the door in a long, familiar looking t-shirt while rubbing sleep from her eyes, she let him in. Papers were strewn about, scribbles all over them. Her room smelled like her perfume, burnt coffee and cigarettes. From the looks of the clothes strew about, it looked like her suitcase had also exploded when her notebook did, scattering tops and dresses around the room.
“The sun is barely up.” Harlow whined, walking into the bathroom and grabbing her toothbrush. Josh leaned against the doorframe, watching her as she continued mumble-mouthed complaints through toothpaste foam. “The water is probably going to be frigid cold when we get there.”
“It’ll have a few hours to warm up.” Josh shrugged. Harlow finished brushing her teeth, grabbing a comb from the countertop and running it through her hair. As she did her hair, the hem of her shirt raised, and Josh caught a glimpse of a small, thumb-sized bruise on her thigh. Clearing his throat, he glanced back around the apartment, noting now that there had been a faint, constant tone ringing in the room. his eyes caught the phone off the hook on the bedside table, pushed across the surface.
“Didn’t care for you wake up call?” his question caused Harlow to pause. Looking into his eyes in his reflection in the mirror.
“I didn’t care for the sweet nothings telling me goodnight.” she answered softly, clearing her throat and going back to tackling a small knot at the bottom of her hair. Josh sighed sharply through his nose, knowing his own younger brothers persistence.
“Today is all about relaxation, anyway.” Josh brought the small smile back to his face.
“Is that why we’re up so early?” Harlow yawned, moving past him and going to her suitcase on the floor by her bed, scrounging through it and pulling out a pair of dark blue bikini bottoms. As she searched through her rumpled clothes for the top, Josh plopped onto the foot of her bed. Her chaotic searching amused him, tossing more clothes up into the air and around the room before she proclaimed triumphantly she found the top, moving back to the bathroom to change.
“Well, the first half one be that relaxing, depending on how you look at it.” Josh chuckled. “We have to hike to the beach.”
“Hike!?” Harlow popped her head out of the bathroom, her bare shoulder giving tell that she was still half dressed. “Josh you said nothing about a hike!”
“It’ll be good for you!” he proclaimed. “Now hurry up, we’re already behind schedule because of your lazy ass.” he heard Harlow continue grumbling as she got dressed, walking out and grabbing a pair of jean shorts off the chair and stepping into them, tugging them up her legs. Josh watched again as she searched for a clothing item.
“Do you see a yellow halter top?” Harlow asked, lifting a few things up and looking around Josh on the bed, digging through the folds and wrinkles of the twisted sheets. Josh looked around a bit before shaking his head. “Oh, I must’ve left it as Sa-“ Harlow stopped herself. “I must’ve forgot to pack it.”
“It’s okay, you know.” Josh said softly. “You’re both very bad at sneaking around.” Harlow turned to Josh, a blush across her face.
“It just…” Josh stood up, standing in front of Harlow, placing his hands on her shoulders. He bent down slightly, making sure she was making eye contact with her.
“You don’t have to explain anything to me.” he smiled softly. “The heart wants what it wants. No matter how frustrating or annoying the thing that it wants is.”
“I wish my heart wanted someone like you.” Harlow half-smiled, letting Josh pull her in for a soft hug.
“You couldn’t handle me, sweet thing.” Josh murmured to her. “Now come on, let’s get going.”
🎶 🎶 🎶
The hike to the beach was an hour long, and Harlow wasted no time in crashing down the pebbled shore into the water. Josh’s beach was part of a river, a large mouth that fed into a small lake. Her sore feet splashed into the water as she tossed her shoes back behind her. The sun was beating down hot on them,
The two splashed around in the water for a while before settling on a large picnic blanket laying out on a patch of sunny grass. They had stopped at a store on their way to the trail, packing up a small, handled cooler with ice and drinks, and a few snacks. Harlow popped a grape into her mouth as she listened to Josh tell a story about how once Jake had tried drowning him in a lake similar to this, close to their home as children. Her laughter was interrupted but voices coming from the trail, catching their attention.
“Well hey there!” Danny and Sam poked their heads our from a few trees as they made their way into he clearing. Sam was wearing short red swim trunks and a loose, open button down, where Danny had chosen longer trunks, and a tank top. Harlow turned away quickly, looking back out to the water and focusing on a few ducks that were swimming nearby.
“Couldn’t help yourselves, huh?” Josh deadpanned, raising an eyebrow at the duo. Danny shrugged as he settled on the blanket next to Josh. Sam stood awkwardly at the edge, not sure if he should sit near Harlow, who refused to look at him, or squeeze in with Josh and Sam. He settled at the edge of the blanket, closer to Harlow but still keeping a distance.
“Not my fault I had the same idea as you.” Danny shrugged, reaching over Josh and grabbing a handful of grapes from the container. Using his thumb, he popped one into his mouth, smiling innocently at Josh. “Harlow, that blue is a nice color on you.”
“Thank you, Danny.” she responded, glancing over to to the curly headed man. As she turned back to focus on the ducks, her eyes skimmed across Sam, who was watching her with a half-frown on his face. She turned away, searching for the waterfowl when she felt a hand on her calf. Snapping her head back, Sam was kneeling in front of her.
“Can we go talk?” he asked softly, blinking up at her. Harlow clenched her jaw gently before answering.
“Fine.” Harlow ignored Sam’s hand to help her up, pushing herself up off of the blanket and slipping her shoes back on, storming off towards the trail. Sam followed her, leaving Josh and Danny exchanging looks on the blanket, wondering if either of them would come back alive.
Harlow forged a path down the trail, making sure they were a ways from any prying ears. When she was satisfied, she whipped around, hands on her hips.
“Talk.” was all she said as she stared at Sam.
“Harlow, I’m sorry.” he sighed, stepping closer. Harlow watched him with sharp eyes.
“You can’t talk to me like you do.” Harlow shook her head. “You can’t treat me like an imbecile in front of your brothers and producers and expect me to crawl into your fucking bed and open my legs for you.”
“I know, I-“
“It hurts Sam,” Harlow took a step closer to him now, he could see tears swelling up on her lash line. “I thought we were past this.”
“We are, I was just caught up in the moment, and didn’t realize I had snapped at you like that.” Sam expressed his regret, his wide brown eyes studying her. “I didn’t mean it towards you, not like that.”
“How did you mean it, Sam?!” Harlow threw out her hands, exasperated.
“I’m used to working with my brothers!” Sam matched Harlow’s energy. “We talk like that to each other all the time! I was arguing with Jake and it was like if one of them cut in!” Harlow rolled her eyes. “Harlow, please.” Sam was quieter now as he reached forward, taking her hands in his and holding them to his chest, closing the gap between their bodies. “I’m sorry.”
“Sam,” Harlow breathed out, leaning into him. “Stop making a fool of me, please.”
“Never again, baby.” Sam let go of one of her hands, taking the back of her head in his hand and bringing her forward for a kiss. He dropped her other one and grabbed her waist, pulling her in closer to his body as her fingers dug into the material of his loose button down. When they parted, he pulled her towards the woods off the trail, and she followed, stepping over the various failed branches and leaves.
Sam pulled her far off the path, to the point Harlow was getting concerned they’d get lost, but they stopped by a large boulder. Sam backed her up against it, resuming their kiss from the trail. His lips were hungrier this time, trying to taste every inch of her, as if their one night apart had been fifty torturous years.
“Let me make it up to you?” Sam murmured against her lips, his hands traveling down her bare torso, to the ties at the side of her bikini bottoms.  Harlow nodded and he pulled again, licking and kissing down her front as he knelt to the ground, ignoring the feeling of pebbles and twigs digging into his skin. Pressing kisses to her thighs, he slowly unraveled the knots at her hips, pulling the front of her bottoms down.
Harlow felt the anticipation of his touch bubbling in her abdomen, something she didn’t think she would ever grow out of, and sighed with relief she didn’t realize she was craving as soon as the pad of his middle finger grazed her clit. Whining softly, she bucked her hips towards his hand, making Sam smile.
“Patience, baby,” Sam looked up at her through his lashes, causing her knees to turn to jello. “Let me taste you.” his large hands grabbed at Harlow’s thighs, parting them as she leaned back against the boulder. The position was awkward, the stone barely grazing her middle back, but was enough to angle her body for Sam to delve into her core, his tongue slowly lapping through her slick folds.
“Oh fuck,” Harlow moaned. “Sam, oh!”
“Shh,” Sam pulled away from her, smirking. “Don’t want Josh and Danny to come looking for us, do we?” Harlow shook her head and put her hand on the back of Sam’s ushering him back to her pussy. Chuckling, Sam licked his lips, adjusting his place on his knees and diving back in. Harlow tossed her head back as his tongue gently circled her clit, applying pressure just right to get her to buck her hips, and alternating between flat, long licks.
Harlow could feel her legs begin to shake as he worked her closer and closer to the edge, her fingers tangling in his hair and cradling the back of his head and his hands gripped her quaking thighs.
“Sam, Sam, don’t stop, please!” Harlow whined in a whispered shout. Her fingernails were scraping against his scalp and the boulder as she held herself up. “Right here, right there don’t fucking stop!” Sam could feel a tired ache setting in his jaw as he continued eating her out, feeling her body trembling above him. “Yes! God!” Sam smiled against Harlow’s pussy, lapping up her wetness as she came on his tongue.
Sam couldn’t hold himself back, he removed himself from her, palming his rock hard cock in his swim shorts before tugging them down and near-crushing Harlow’s body against the boulder. She brought a hand between their bodies, gathering her slick with her fingers and wrapping them around him with a firm grip, pumping him slowly as he licked into her mouth with a small growl, letting her taste herself.
One of Sam’s hands slid under Harlow’s thigh, hitching it to his hip and removing her hand from his cock, gliding the head through her folds. He moaned as she wrapped an arm around his shoulders, gyrating against until he finally pushed in, making her moan. She was already clenching around him, and Sam set at a slow, hard pace.
“Faster,” Harlow breathed. He nuzzled into her neck, biting the skin gently.
“You really wanna get caught, huh?” Sam chuckled, wrapping an arm around her back and reaching down, squeezing her ass cheek before giving it a playful slap.
“Don’t care,” she shook her head. “Just want you.”
“You have me.” Sam kissed her, but gave in, picking up his pace, deciding that rutting into her would be better than the sound of their skin slapping together echoing through the woods. The hairy trail to his pelvis scratched against Harlow’s bare skin, her clit rubbing against his just atop the base of his cock.
“God fuck Sam, that feels so good!” she cried softly in his ear. “I’m gonna cum,”
“Fuck you’re so tight baby,” Sam grunted back. “Cum on my cock for me, I need it. Baby cum for me.” Harlow ground her hips against Sam’s thrusts, leaning forward and biting down on his shoulder to muffle her cry as she came. The feeling of the bite coursed through him, causing his hips to stutter as he emptied himself inside her, clutching Harlow’s body to his.
She was whispering something, as the blood rush subsided and he didn’t have his heartbeat pounding in his ears anymore, he tried to focus on the words.
“What baby?” he asked softly. “You don’t have to be quiet anymore, what are you saying?”
“I love you,” Harlow mumbled into his neck, pressing a kiss at the hollow of this throat. Sam pulled back, taking one of his hands and brushing her hair back as he gazed down on her, a soft smile tugging the corner of his lips.
“Harlow, I-“
“Are you guys done making up?!” Josh’s voice rang through the trees. “I’d like to get back to the car before sundown!” Sam squeezed his eyes shut as Harlow giggled, leaning back against the rock and readjusting her bottoms, tying the ties into double knots. Sam stuffed himself back into his short and held out his hand.
“Let’s get back before Josh comes to find us.”
🎶 🎶 🎶
The next week of rehearsals and recording was better than it ever had been. Sam and Harlow didn’t have to run around and hide, and Sam had been able to keep his attitude in check, save for a few minor slips with his brothers.
They were working on a new song Sam and Harlow had worked on together shortly after their reconciliation, finally working it out to play it in full for recording. Josh, loving the vibes, demanded perfection so they could all record playing together to keep the energy up. After a few tries of the song, he decided to step back, letting Sam take the lead vocals with Harlow.
“All I want is to see you smile” Sam sang into the mic in front of him and his bass.
“If it takes just a little while
I know you don't believe that it's true
I never meant any harm to you”
“Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone” Harlow joined him for the chorus, holding her mic in her hand and the cord in the other, dancing around and grinning as she sang the lyrics to the chorus. Soon Jake, Danny and Josh’s voices followed for the final chorus and fade out.
“Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone!”
Harlow danced her way over to Sam’s mic, leaning into it and singing with him, keeping eye contact as he smiled back at her, his eyes glimmering with adoration.
“Don't you look back
Ooh don't you look back
Ooh don't you look back
Ooh don't you look back”
As soon as the producer let them know the track was done recording, Harlow spun around, giggling and dancing back over to her stand to put her mic back.
“You guys, that song,” Jake shook his head with a smile. “It’s really good. You I can see, but Sam helped come up with it?”
“Hey!” Sam shouted from behind her, though his voice was good natured. Jake continued to banter playfully with his brother as Josh and Danny talked to Harlow about the song.
Harlow glanced over to Sam from her mic, proud of their song, and hoping to see the same feeling in his demeanor. Sam made a move to walk over to her as he set his bass on the holder, words seemingly at his parted lips when the door to the studio swung open, distracting them.
“Sammy!” A tall young woman, with pin straight raven colored hair down past her bottom, flew into the room. Sam turned away from Harlow, just in time to catch the woman as she jumped towards him. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and legs around his waist, and her lips planted themselves right on Sam’s.
Harlow furrowed her brow, watching Sam and this woman kiss in front of her, the former seemingly not doing anything to stop it.
“That sounded amazing!” the woman grinned when she pulled away. “I missed hearing you sing, why didn’t you tell me you were back in town, baby?!”
“Baby?” Harlow mumbled under her breath. Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she turned her head, seeing Josh standing there with pursed lips.
“I uh, I didn’t-“ Sam stammered as the woman lowered herself from her arms, taking his face between her palms and shaking his head, making his long hair move around him.
“Did you guys add a new band member or something?” the dark haired woman glanced behind Sam to see Harlow. “Your voice was really good!”
“Thanks…” Harlow accepted the compliment with a tight smile.
“I’m Cindy,” she extended her hand out towards Harlow. Her smile was kind and breathtaking, Harlow had a hard time not smiling back more genuinely. Harlow shook Cindy’s hand, exchanging her name as well. “It’s so nice to meet you!”
“You too, Cindy.” Harlow glanced back to Josh.
“Cindy is Sam’s fiancé.” Josh shot a glare over Cindy’s shoulder at Sam, who was standing there, tight-lipped and cheeks red, glancing between Harlow and Cindy. As she swallowed down her anger, Harlow let her eyes flicker to Sam and back to his fiancé.
“Congratulations,” Harlow nodded toward them. “To the both of you. If you’ll excuse me…” Harlow moved around the happy couple, leaving the studio and storming down the hall, finding an empty practice room and locking herself in. She rested against the closed door, doing her best to take slow, deep breaths but failing as she felt her heart cracking in her chest.
“Stupid, stupid girl!” she hissed to herself under her breath, kicking her leg and sending the small piano bench sailing across the tiny room into the wall, clattering with a music stand as it tumbled to the ground. A soft knock on the door startled Harlow further, and she stopped moving and breathing until a voice spoke up.
“It’s Josh, Harlow.” his voice was low and soft, and she opened the door to him. Pushing it open he stepped inside, watching her pace as he kicked it shut behind him with the heel of his shoe. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.” Harlow waved him off.
“No, I should have said something.” Josh shook his head. “We all pretty much thought it was over before we left on our tour. That’s what he told us.”
“I slept in his bed. Fucked him in their bed.” Harlow laughed bitterly. “I’m a fucking fool.”
“You didn’t know.” Josh reasoned with her, reaching out and stopping her from wearing a hole in the already threadbare remnant carpet.
“I told him I loved him. He said he’d never make a fool of me again!” Harlow stared at Josh, tears brimming in her eyes. “At the beach. I’m his lover and his fool, and that’s it.”
“Brandy,” Josh whispered, using her real name, causing the tears to spill over and cascade down her cheeks. Throwing herself into Josh’s chest, he cradled her there, kissing the top of her head. He let her sob in his chest, resting his cheek on her head and swaying her gently back and forth.
Once she had calmed down a bit, he pulled back, taking her face in his hands and wiping the remaining tears off her cheeks with his thumbs.
“Let’s go get a drink, okay? There’s that bar down the street, we’ll get nice and liquored up, and then we’ll dance the night away on the bar top until they kick us out.” Josh have Harlow a half-hearted smile and she sniffled.
“I’d rather just go crawl into to bed.” she murmured. “Can I stay at your place? i just don’t want to be alone.”
“Of course.” Josh nodded. “Jake and I would love to have you. Come on, we’ll call it an early day for us singes, let the back up band do the heavy lifting for the rest of the afternoon.” Josh finished drying her tears, pressing a kiss to her forehead and ushered her out the room and studio.
Harlow laid in Josh’s bed that night, playing with a frayed end of his comforter. As she laid beside her friend in the dark, she wondered, was Sam with Cindy right now? Was she laying in the spot she laid in only days before? Was he making love to her the way he did to Harlow? Did Cindy run her fingers over the birthmark on his underarm, making him laugh and squirm from it tickling?
“Stop those thoughts.” Josh placed a hand over hers, halting her fidgeting.
“Easier said than done.” Harlow murmured. “I hate this.”
“I know.”
“It’s like…” Harlow sighed, rolling over onto her back and staring up at the ceiling. “Since the moment we met, there’s been this rope or-or chain tethering us together…” Josh watched Harlow as she explained, licking her lips before continuing. “Damn him. Damn everything about him and his fucking lies.” Harlow laid in silence for a few moments, then sprang up, startling Josh.
“What? What is it?!”
“I need paper!” she scrambled out of his bed and Josh did the same, grabbing a pad of paper off his nightstand and thrusting it and a pen towards Harlow. She began scribbling, pacing around his bedroom. Josh watched as she worked, jumping again when a voice sounded next to him.
“Everything okay? I heard shouting.” Jake yawned.
“Get your guitar.” Harlow commanded the younger twin, not looking up from the page. “We have a song to write.”

Tumblr media
“Remind me again why I’m up so early?”
Josh chuckled. “This was your idea, sleepyhead. Remember?”
You gave a dramatic sigh and leaned your head on his shoulder, and you were rewarded with a kiss on your forehead. Jake and Sparrow were in front of you in line, in equal degrees of still-waking-up drowsiness, and you could hear Sam and Danny talking and laughing about something behind you. Despite your slight early-morning grumpiness, you smiled; all six of you were on your way home to Frankenmuth for Christmas, and once the coffee kicked in, you’d all be full of excited, festive cheer.
You, Sparrow, and Danny had planned a surprise, last-minute trip to see Mama and Papa Kiszka, and a four a.m. flight on Christmas Eve was the only flight you could get. The boys had been delighted, and though you’d told Kelly so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise to have six people show up on their doorstep first thing in the morning, you had all agreed to keep it a surprise for Karen. You couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when she saw her boys, and the thought of how happy she’d be made everything worth it.
The security check went faster than you thought it would with all the people trying to get home for the holidays, and you were sitting at your gate with a coffee in hand in short order. Danny, Sparrow, and Josh sat on the floor by your feet as the rest of you lounged in the uncomfortable airport seats, the six of you making a tight circle as you woke up together and talked about your plans for the day.
“We have to take Sparrow downtown,” Danny said. “She hasn’t seen the world-famous Frankenmuth Christmas lights.”
Sam scoffed. “Yeah, Sparrow, you haven’t even seen the world-famous Frankenmuth Christmas lights.”
“I have so!” she protested with a laugh. “Just because I went to my grandparents’ for Christmas growing up doesn't mean I never saw the lights downtown.”
Sparrow had been a part of your friend group during high school, but graduation had brought distance until you’d fallen out of touch. You’d been reunited last winter, and you’d all welcomed her back into your friendship, this time as Jake’s girlfriend, with open arms and happy hearts.
“Yeah, but you haven't seen them on Christmas,” Josh said sagely. “You've never seen the singing tree, have you?”
“That sounds fake.”
Jake grinned. “Oh, it’s real, honey. And we’re going.”
You were still planning your outings as you boarded the plane, filing down the narrow aisle to your seats. Since you’d gotten your tickets last minute, you weren’t able to get seats all together; you were split up across different rows, but luckily Sam and Sparrow and the twins were paired together. It would have been too chaotic to trade seats and get the couples paired off, but none of you minded; all of you were close, and your friendship was a natural extension of your individual relationships.
You and Danny found your seats, and there was an older lady already settled in for a nap in the window seat. You were supposed to have the middle seat, but you hesitated.
Danny was putting your suitcase in the overhead bin for you and noticed your hesitation.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
You cast him an uncertain smile. “Sorry, I’m just...” You were feeling a little claustrophobic in the warmth of the cabin and the press of people, and the thought of being in the middle was only making it worse. “It’s a little tight.”
“Oh,” he said. “I’ll take the middle, then.”
“No way,” you protested. “You have freakishly long legs. You should be on the end.”
He laughed. “I don’t mind.” He met your eyes and gave you a sympathetic smile. “Really, kiddo. I’ll sit in the middle.”
Before you could protest again, he’d squeezed his broad frame into the middle seat.
“Thank you,” you said sincerely as you took your seat.
“No problem. As long as you share the candy you brought.”
You laughed and fished the half-eaten bag of gummy worms out of your backpack. “Breakfast of champions, right there.”
You and Danny spent the plane ride intermittently talking and dozing on each other’s shoulders until you landed. It was lightly snowing on the tarmac, and your excitement grew as you reunited with the rest of your friends by the gate.
“Did you survive without me, baby?” Josh asked, slinging his arm over your shoulders as you walked through the airport.
You smiled. “Barely. Did you have a good time with Jake?”
“Sure,” he said with a grin. “We got cocktails.”
“Joshua!” you laughed. “It’s not even six in the morning!”
“Just getting the festivities started,” he said innocently. He kissed your cheek. “I said we should go to that little diner for breakfast.”
“Oh, we should!” you agreed. “I can get that peppermint milkshake I’ve been craving.”
He chuckled. “It’s a little cold for a milkshake, baby.”
“It’s snowing, did you see?”
“I did. It’s a special welcome home present just for you.”
You smiled and pressed closer to him. He knew you were glad to be going back to your hometown; you’d moved to Nashville over the summer, and though it had been a good change, you’d missed Frankenmuth. Going home for the holidays was just what you needed.
When you'd gotten your luggage and your rental car, you all squeezed in for the forty minute drive to town. Danny was driving, the best out of all of you at driving on snowy roads, and the drive seemed to take no time at all as you sang along with the Christmas songs on the radio and pointed out landmarks to each other even though you all knew them by heart.
Though it was still dark out when you got to the diner, you snapped a picture of it with the disposable camera you’d gotten for the trip. It was a tradition to take one with you on road trips, and you’d put the pictures in the “family scrapbook” you all added to when you got home.
Once inside, the six of you piled into a corner booth and ordered coffee. This sleepy little diner had seen many late nights and early mornings with your friend group, and you were glad to be back under the glow of the soft neon lights, comfortably smushed next to the people you loved most.
Josh shared his menu with you. “I bet I know what you’re getting, baby. Besides your peppermint milkshake.”
“Same thing I always get,” you agreed. You ordered the eggs Benedict with hash browns when it was your turn and turned back to the conversation.
“I think we should go ice skating,” Sparrow said, her eyes lighted with excitement.
You smiled. “I think so too. I should warn you, though — your boyfriend hasn’t gotten any better at it since highschool.”
“It’s true,” Jake said ruefully. “But we can just skate very slowly around the Christmas tree in the middle and hope I don't fall.”
She gave a wry smile. “Does that tree sing on Christmas too?”
You laughed. “No, unfortunately. But I think we should start a petition that every tree in town be a singing tree.”
Sam reached over you for the sugar. “But then there would be no gigs for local bands to play during Christmas.”
“Oh, I remember those shows,” Sparrow said. “You guys always looked like you were freezing up there.”
Danny chuckled. “We were,” he agreed. “It was miserable trying to play in the freezing cold.”
Jake gave an incredulous laugh. “At least you only had to play the drums,” he said. “Try playing guitar with no feeling in your fingers.”
“Ah, Jakey,” Josh said with a smug grin. “I recall a few wrong notes at those gigs.”
Jake only smiled at his twin’s affectionate teasing. “Well, Joshy, when I was off you were off, so neither of us was any good.”
“I was always perfect, though,” Sam said, matter-of-fact. Danny laughed and kissed his cheek.
“Of course you were, love.”
Sam turned bashful and gave his boyfriend a smile, knowing Danny had meant the compliment sincerely.
You lingered over your coffee for a long while after the food had been eaten, watching the snow fall outside the window bedecked with Christmas lights. The jukebox played Jackson Browne’s “These Days”, and Jake took Sparrow’s hand.
“Aw, sweetheart, it's our song,” he said with a sappy grin. “And I didn't even put it on, so it must be holiday magic.”
She laughed and ran her thumb over his knuckles. “Maybe it is, honey.”
Sam gave a playful grimace at the display.
“This is a horribly depressing pick for your song,” he said. “Didn’t you two ever listen to the lyrics and think, ‘hey, maybe a song about heartbreak isn’t a great choice’?”
“Come to think of it,” Jake said, “why was this playing at a wedding?”
“They had a lot of weird stuff on their playlist,” Josh said, remembering the wedding of a highschool classmate where you’d been reunited with Sparrow. She and Jake had also taken the opportunity at that wedding to finally confess the crush they’d had on each other since senior year, and you remembered the trip with fondness.
“I wonder how they’re doing,” you mused. None of you had known the bride that well, and you hadn’t bothered to keep up with her after she invited you to her wedding.
“They’re having a baby, I think,” Danny said. “I saw it on Instagram.”
“You follow her on Instagram?” Sparrow asked, surprised.
Danny pinked a little. “Yeah, well, I knew her better than you guys did back at school, and we caught up a little at the wedding.”
Sam smirked. “How well could you have known her at school, Dan?”
Danny’s blush deepened. “I mean... we may have made out once or twice.”
Sam’s eyes widened and the rest of you laughed.
“You never told me that!” Sam protested, amused and surprised but unconcerned about Danny’s long-past relationships. “We went to her wedding and you didn't tell me you two had history?”
“Oh, we did not have history,” Danny scoffed. He softened and gave Sam a sweet smile. “Besides, I didn’t care about anybody else but you at that wedding and you know it.”
Sam gave a pleased grin. “Yeah, I know it.”
“You’re saying you didn’t care about me at that wedding?” Jake asked, playfully affronted. “I’m hurt, Daniel.”
Danny’s smile was equally fond and exasperated. “You were too busy pretending you weren't in love with Sparrow to notice, Jake. Or don't you remember?”
“Oh, I remember,” Jake said, giving Sparrow’s hand an affectionate squeeze.
“Well,” Josh said with a grin, “I remember how much time you and Sam spent pretending you weren't in love, Danny.”
“That’s rich, coming from you,” Jake said with a laugh. “You two don't have a leg to stand on.”
“I wasn’t pretending not to be in love,” you reminded him tartly. “Your brother’s just a blockhead who wouldn't know a love confession if it smacked him in the face.”
“Oh, don't exaggerate,” Josh said with a smile. “You didn’t smack me in the face, baby. You kissed me.”
You all laughed.
“That’s worse, Josh,” Danny said. “At least I knew what was going on when Sam kissed me for the first time.”
You enjoyed reminiscing on how you’d all come to be together as you finished your coffee, and when Josh had paid the bill, you hurried through the snow to the car. The ride to the Kiszka house was quick, and you were all alight with excitement as you got ready to surprise Mama K.
You parked a little ways down the gravel driveway, not wanting to give yourselves away until you were all at the door. The six of you tramped through the snow to the cosy farmhouse, huddled into your jackets, Sam and Danny in the lead.
“Are you sure she’ll be okay with all of us staying here?” Sparrow asked, looking to Jake for confirmation. Though she’d said “us,” you knew she was worried that she would be unwelcome, even if she didn’t need to be. Though his parents had been overjoyed to welcome Sparrow into the family, Jake’s last relationship before her had ended badly; you knew from late-night conversations with your friend that she was worried Jake’s parents were still hesitant to trust her with their son's heart.
Jake knew that too, and he smiled and gave her a quick, comforting kiss.
“She’ll be over the moon to see us, sweetheart,” he assured her. “Especially you.”
Sparrow blushed prettily. “Well, I don't know about that.”
Jake chuckled and tugged her close. “Just you wait and see, little Sparrow.”
You held Josh’s hand and gave it an excited squeeze. “Are you happy to be home?”
He smiled, his cheeks rosy with cold. “Yeah. Thanks for planning this, baby.”
“You’re welcome, my love,” you said. “I know your mom’s been missing you, and I hope she’ll be happy that we're all together under one roof for Christmas.”
“I’m sure she will be,” he said. “She might freak out that she doesn’t have enough bedding for everyone, but she’ll be glad we’re here.”
You laughed. “I told your dad we’d help get things in order for all of us to stay,” you said. “We might have to take the pull-out in the basement, though.”
His expressions scrunched. “Aw, why us? I have a perfectly good bed we can sleep in.”
“So does Jake,” you said.
He sighed. “In the same room, I know.” The twins had shared a room growing up; Sam had loved having his own room and not sharing anything, but neither of the twins had minded being with the other. For this trip, you figured Sam and Danny would take Sam’s old room while Jake and Sparrow took the twins’ — you were wise enough to know that certain activities might be difficult if you all attempted to share, as funny as it might be. You and Josh could take Ronnie’s room since she was spending Christmas with her boyfriend, but you hadn’t asked your boyfriend’s opinion on that.
“We could probably stay in Ronnie’s room,” you said.
Josh winced. “Uh, no thank you.”
You smiled. “Why not?”
“I’m not having sex in my sister’s bed. I can't even think about how awful that would be.”
You raised a brow. “Oh, so you think you’re getting lucky this trip, huh?” you teased.
He gave you a knowing smirk. “Nice try, baby. You think I don’t know how you like a little thrill every now and then? You like to get hot for me when you’re not supposed to.”
You blushed vividly. “You think you’re so smart, don't you, Joshua?”
He hummed in agreement and nuzzled a kiss against your cheek. “I’m a genius, but you’re also very predictable on some things. So yes, I do think I’ll get lucky. In fact, I hope and pray I'll get lucky.”
You gave a soft laugh. “I think you'll get lucky, too,” you said in a quiet voice.
He grinned. “Then I guess we’re taking the basement.”
When you reached the front porch, all of you were careful to be quiet as you kicked the slush off your boots and brushed snowflakes off of your jackets. You took turns shushing each other’s excited, quiet laughs as Sam knocked on the door.
Kelly answered, and he beamed at the six of you.
“Your mom’s in the kitchen,” he said. “Go surprise her.”
You all filed in, trying not to sound like a trampling herd, and Kelly hung back and watched you with a fond smile as you made your way to the kitchen.
Karen was stirring a bowl of batter at the island, and whatever she had in the oven smelled delicious. She was so focused on her work that she didn’t notice the group of you in the kitchen doorway, and Jake took a step forward.
“You need any help in here?” he asked.
“No, I’m alright, thank you,” she said without looking to see who’d spoken. “Who was at at the door?”
Jake laughed. “Us, mom.”
She nearly dropped the bowl as she whipped her head up. A delighted, incredulous smile lit her whole face.
“Jake!” she said. “And — and all of you!”
She rushed over to you, and a long moment was spent in hugs and laughter and joyful welcomes.
“You sounded just like your dad,” she told Jake as she hugged his neck. She looked to Josh. “Didn’t he sound just like him?”
Josh laughed. “Yeah, it’s kinda freaky.” He gladly accepted her warm hug and kissed her cheek. “Hi, mama. Merry Christmas.”
She patted his cheek. “Merry Christmas, sweetie. I love you.”
Sam laughed when he hugged her. “Aw, mom, don’t cry. Danny will think you’re not happy to see him.”
“Oh, sweet Danny knows I’m happy to see him any time,” she said. “Don’t you, Danny?”
He smiled and hugged her. “Yes ma’am.”
She embraced you next, and you realized just how much you’d missed the woman you considered another mother.
“I've missed you, Karen,” you said, feeling a knot of emotion in your chest.
She squeezed you tight. “Oh, I've missed you too, honey. I’m so happy you’re here.”
Sparrow hung back, a little shy, but Karen didn’t hesitate to give her a mama bear hug. Sparrow relaxed into it instantly and looked relieved at her warm welcome.
“I hope you like your surprise,” Sparrow said.
Karen laughed and brushed the happy tears from her face. “I love it. I can't imagine a better Christmas present than having you all here.”
Kelly took his turn hugging everyone next, and Karen affectionately scolded him when she found out he’d known you were coming.
“You could at least have told me to mop or something,” she said.
He laughed. “When have I ever been able to tell you to do anything, woman?”
Karen fussed over all of you as you settled in, handing out mugs of coffee and asking Kelly to put a load of sheets on to wash.
“I assume you have plans in town,” she said. “Or are you wanting to spend the whole week here in the kitchen with me?”
“That wouldn’t be so bad,” Josh said with a smile. “Bur we do have to take Sparrow to see the singing tree.”
Sparrow blushed. “We don't have to make plans around me,” she said sweetly. “I’m happy to do whatever.”
Jake gave her a reassuring kiss on her blushed nose. “You gotta see the singing tree, sweetheart. That’s non-negotiable.”
“Jake’s right,” Karen said. “But I'm surprised you’ve never seen it before.”
“I spent Christmases at my grandparents’ in Boston,” Sparrow said. “And it appears I’ve missed out on something spectacular.”
Karen smiled. “Are your grandparents missing you this year?”
Sparrow smiled too. “Yes ma’am, but they’re happy I’m here.”
Karen patted her hand in a motherly gesture. “Well, we’re happy you're here too.” She looked at Josh and Jake. “Are you all sharing your old room?”
Josh grinned. “That might get a little dicey, mama, don’t you think?”
You were sure if Karen were wearing pearls, she would have clutched them. “Oh lord, Joshua.”
He laughed, big and bright, and you loved the sound of it even if you were a little embarrassed at his teasing.
Karen softened and gave him a fondly exasperated smile. “So where are you planning to sleep that’s not so dicey? Your sister’s room?”
The boys gave various groans of disgust and horror at the thought, and you and Sparrow laughed with Karen.
“No thanks,” Josh said. “Baby and I can take the pull-out in the basement.”
“That’s fine,” she said. “Your dad moved all your music stuff down there, so you might have to shuffle some things around, but the couch is still there.”
“Speaking of,” Kelly said, “let’s go ahead and get your stuff from the car and get you all settled in. The guys and I have a set tonight, so I won’t be able to help later.”
“You didn’t say you had a set tonight,” Sam said. “Where are you playing?”
Kelly shrugged. “Main Street Tavern.”
“We should go,” Jake said. “Can we?”
Kelly gave a proud, pleased smile. “Sure. I’d like it if you came. You can come by when you’re done walking around downtown.”
The boys filed out with Kelly to get your bags, talking about what he was going to play at the gig, and you and Sparrow took a seat at the kitchen island as Karen pulled a pan of cookies out of the oven.
“Can we help with anything?” you asked as Karen went back to baking.
“Oh, no, you just sit right there and drink your coffee,” she said. She gave you and Sparrow a warm smile. “I know I’ve said it a hundred times, but I’m really glad you girls are here.”
You both thanked her and accepted the cookies she gave you.
“I know where Jake gets his cooking skills from,” Sparrow said.
Karen smiled. “Well, he got most of it from his dad, but I do make a mean batch of cookies, and I’m glad at least one thing I taught that boy stuck with him.”
You knew that each of the Kiszka boys had learned invaluable lessons from both of their parents; they were the men they were today because they’d learned kindness and generosity from Karen and Kelly. You were thankful that Josh had such good parents, and you were so happy to be able to spend Christmas with them.
You and Sparrow reluctantly left the cosy kitchen to help with luggage as the boys came back in. You brushed snow from Josh’s curls and earned a sweet laugh from your boyfriend.
“Am I all snowy, baby?” he asked.
“Yes, but you look very cute.”
“Aw, baby.” He gave you a quick kiss. “You sure are sweet, you know that?”
Things quieted down for a while as all of you went to unpack, and you and Josh ventured down to the basement you’d spent many hours in during your childhood.
“We might end up having the coolest room, baby.”
You agreed as you plugged in the many strands of Christmas lights hung across the ceiling, illuminating the cosy room filled with instruments, comfy couches, and well-loved games like foosball and ping-pong. You’d always liked the Kiszkas’ basement, and you didn’t mind rooming in it over your trip.
Josh pulled out the sofa bed and sat on the edge, the springs protesting his weight.
“Squeaky,” he teased.
You huffed a laugh. “Guess you’ll have to get creative, then.”
He grinned. “Is that a challenge, baby? Because I accept.”
You went to wash your face in the bathroom just off the basement, cleaning off the feeling of traveling, and Josh came in and rested his chin on your shoulder.
“Are you happy we’re here for Christmas?” he asked.
You met his eyes in the mirror. He looked a little unsure, and you turned to face him.
“Of course I am, honey,” you said. “Why wouldn't I be? I love to be at your parents’.”
“I know,” he said. “But I didn’t know if you were sad to not have our first Christmas after we moved in our new house.”
You draped your arms over his shoulders. “I was, a little, but I wanted you to be here for Christmas. I know your parents missed you when we moved, and I'm glad we’re here. We’ll have plenty of Christmases in Nashville.”
He kissed you, soft and tender. “Thank you for doing all this, baby.”
You smiled. “You’re welcome, Josh. I love you.”
He hugged you tight. “I love you too.”

The One Where They Go To An Escape Room
Summary: GVF try to make some more content for their YT channel and decide to try an escape room. Chaos ensues.
This is inspired by a random post I made & it kept playing in my head so I thought I’d try and write it. Not the best but hope it makes you smile haha also never been to an escape room, so just squint with me lmao
Words: 2500-3k ish
warnings: swearing lol, mention of drinking/being drunk, and them being their chaotic selves.
------------------------------------------------------------------
“We got some comments, that our fans wanted us to do more videos of us just….well um, being us?” Jake spoke to the camera then looked around to the others to check what he was saying was in fact, correct. The others nodded along with a few affirming ‘yeahs’.
“So, for you guys we decided to film ourselves trying out an escape room.” Danny smiled widely and looked to Sam who was about to deliver the next line.
“As you know we like to do many things, but we really haven’t tried this before right guys?” He looked around to the rest who said something in in agreement along with Josh letting out, “I’m surprised to be honest”.
Josh clapped his hands together and grinned at the camera, “Let’s dance! Shall we?” And he did a theatrical pose before the camera stopped recording.
The guys all smiled to one another, mumbling about how excited they were as they were ushered down a hallway. “So guys, we have cameras set up already in the room to keep tabs on you to make sure you don’t do anything crazy.”
“Yeah get the fire extinguisher ready.” Josh commented before he broke out into a laugh, lifting his shoulders.
“And we have other cameras sat around that will be able to record for the video. Find the code to unlock the door again. Once you have finished the escape room, we will record your time and take a victory photo!” The girl spoke excitedly before going over rules and regulations. Finishing her little speech that she has perfected and memorizes with a, “Have fun and good luck!” The guys all beamed at her, said thanks and shuffled in the room.
“I’ll get us out under 10 minutes.” Sam said with a smug smile as they got in the room. The twins looked at each other as he strode into the room, ready to make the room his bitch.
Danny looked around the room before his eyes went to the door that just locked behind him. “Well, here we go!” He laughed
Sam had his hands on his hips and was looking around the corners of the rooms, nothing odd only the cameras.
Jake spotted a bookcase over on the far wall, about to suggest they go check it out for any books that have clues, but stopped when Josh yelled. “The rug!”
All eyes went from the curly haired man to the rug. It was an antique oriental rug that was well past it’s prime but the one corner was flipped over.
Sam’s eyes looked from the rug to his older brother. “The rug?”
“The corner. Look at the damn corner! It’s turned over.” He looked at Danny who shrugged and asked, “You think it’s a clue?”
Josh rolled his eyes. “This place is going to be FILLED with cryptic clues and weird shit. We gotta look for the non-obvious stuff!” As he finished rambling on he threw himself to the floor, Jake automatically jolted to go help him only to stop himself when he watched his twin move his head several times as if trying to angle the corner of the turned rug to a hidden clue.
“Okay.” Jake said flatly and left him to it as his eyes scanned the room. He noticed a small hole on the opposite wall, lifting his hand to point at it, making Sam and Danny both notice. Sam stepped over Josh, who was sprawled on the floor, and pushed Jake out of the way. “Look! Look what I found!”
“Stupid fucking rug.” Josh gritted out, still on the floor.
Jake sighed but followed his little brother over to the wall, who was now prodding it with a finger. “You think it’s a spy hole or summin’?”
Jake shrugged. “Maybe?” He stopped watching Sam prod the hole. His eyes looked back to the bookcase.
“This is going to take me longer than 10 fucking minutes.” Sam was getting annoyed and it had only been 5 minutes since it started.
25 minutes later.
Danny looked at the papers on the large wooden table. Nothing helpful on the papers, really, until he realized that by picking them up, a very faint scratched arrow was etched into the wood. Danny followed to where it was pointing to, which was to one of the light fixtures.
He went to tell the others but stopped when Sam let out, “This hole has something to do with finding a clue I just fucking know it!”
Josh, at this point, had stood up, still looking at the rug. “I’ll come back to you.” He pointed at it before he looked around the room, his eyes fell on the book shelf his twin looked at earlier. A wide grin spread on his face.
Jake was trying to calm Sam down but he wasn’t having it, this room was FIXED they hadn’t found any clues yet and he was sick of it already, “We could be at a bar right now. We should have done this drunk. Imagine how fun that would have been?” Jake smirked, “We can barely do this shit sober, let alone drunk.”
Sam waved him off. “No, we would have been better at this!”
Danny already found 2 hidden numbers for something. The light fixture on the wall had a very small 20 hidden behind one of the shades and another arrow that pointed to a collection of picture frames. A red 6 was hidden on the 5th one he turned over. He smiled to himself as the other two were yelling at each other about being sober or drunk. Danny checked another photo frame and saw the word “chairs” written in red.
Sam took his shoes off. “That’s better. I can think properly now.” He walked over to the table Danny was at before and looked at the papers that had random words circled, narrowing his eyes at them.
Jake shook his head a little and finally approached the bookcase. As his eyes went from book to book before he noticed some titles on the spines were worn away, the gold or silver foil, long gone while some words remained, almost too perfectly. He opened one of the books that had the word, “Here” on the spine and flipped through the pages to see if he could find anything. He turned around to Sam, who was now GRIPPING the papers on the table and let out an angry “I DON’T GET IT! WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!”
His attention was brought back to the bookcase when he felt it move. He moved back a little as it began to shake.
“What the fuck?!” He quickly looked up when he noticed his twin’s legs.
Josh had somehow climbed to the top of the bookcase and was now trying to get back down, making the whole thing shake. Jake quickly threw the book back on the shelf and gripped his brothers waist to help him. “The fuck you doing, Josh?”
His twin belted out a loud laugh. “Getting clues!”
Once he was back on his feet, he grinned widely as the others all gathered around. “What did you find for me?” Sam asked, still holding the papers.
Jake laughed softly at how annoyed his younger brother was getting but kept his eyes on Josh.
“This!” He held up between his two fingers. It was a very small ripped off corner from some paper covered in dust.
“I think that’s just trash.” Jake let out eyeing the paper.
Josh narrowed his eyes, “No. It’s a clue! Why else would it be up there?”
Danny cleared his throat a little, “I hate to tell you, dude, but I think Jake’s right. I don’t think anyone would be crazy enough to scale that giant bookcase, so putting something up there would be dangerous and unnecessary.”
“I’m sick of this! None of these papers make any sense! These notes are rambles of a mad man.” Sam was holding the papers out to the others.
“Well, I just found this book, and nothing was strange until I found the only word to circled was table, so maybe there is a clue to do with it or on the table?”
Danny’s eyes lit up. “I went over those notes too, but I found an arrow on the table!”
Jake and Danny smiled at each other. Finally, at least two of them were actually trying to solve this. He was about to tell Jake about the next clue he found that had something to do with a chair but stopped when Sam threw the papers back onto the table and went over the photo frames Danny had already looked over.
He wanted to tell him he had already found the clue there but left him to it so he would find something.
“There’s another shelf thing over there.” Josh spoke to himself before going over to it.
“Wait! No! Do not fucking climb that thing!” Jake went after him.
Danny stood looking around again. They had the numbers 6 and 20 and a clue about chairs. He pursed his lips, thinking as he stared at the chairs around the table and then around the room. There were so many but which one? Was it the only one he should look for or all of them?
Josh was gripping onto the top of the other bookshelf as Jake was holding his legs. “Hoist me up!”
Jake was yelling back at him that he was crazy and to stop doing this shit because he’ll end up falling and breaking something. They began to bicker to each other before Sam joined in to yell at them just because he was getting annoyed.
Danny watched the three brothers. Nothing new really, yelling or talking over each other, he just turned back to the table.
“Guys.” He let out. Nope, nothing. He looked over and saw how Josh was now sat perfectly on top of the shelf , smiling widely as he watched his other brothers bicker to each other and at him as he sat there.
“Guys!” He shouted making everyone come to an abrupt stop and stare at him.
“I’ve already found three clues but may have found a forth. So stop yelling at each other, and Josh get down from that thing.”
Once Josh scaled down the book shelf, they all joined Danny at the table. “This arrow points towards the lights-“
“I know, I saw that and went to check it out, but there’s nothing there.” Sam cut him off.
“I found the number 20 and another arrow pointing to the photo frames.”
Sam let out of small “Oh.” And let his friend carry on.
“After looking behind each one, I found the number 6 and the word ‘chairs’”
Josh immediately started whipping his head around the room, looking at the chairs. “Let’s turn them all upside down!” Without even waiting for anyone to say anything, off he went.
Jake was looking down at the arrow on the table. He quickly started to gather all the items on it into one pile so the wood could be seen clearly. “There’s another arrow pointing to the book shelf and say’s Here, which is the book I found that had the word table circled multiple times, so…. another clue is on the table?”
Danny stood next to him as they both looked at the two arrows.
Josh turned over every chair in the room but found nothing. “Nope, nothing, nada.” His attention went back to the corner of the rug, his eye twitched a little.
“Josh, how many chairs did you check?” Jake asked.
“About seven? I think?”
Sam stood there, counting them. “Yeah, seven.”
Jake nodded and then looked back to the book shelf. The ‘here’ book had perfect foiled text on it’s spine along with the only other book which read ‘Now’.
He patted Danny on the chest and quickly went over to the shelf. “I think there’s another book clue.”
Danny followed him while the other two looked at each other. “I swear the rug is a clue.” Josh said to Sam, who looked back down to the folded corner and started to poke the rug with his foot.
Jake picked up the book and began to scan through it, flipping through not too fast but not exactly slow either. He almost missed it until Danny said, “There!” On the page, the single word ‘candle’ was circled in red ink.
Jake looked at Danny, who smiled and immediately turned around to scan the room for a candle. “Boys! Look for a candle!” Jake let out as he returned the book to the shelf.
Sam stopped flipping the corner of the rug back and forth and started looking around.
“Maybe it’s on top of something-“ Josh was cut off with a loud, “NO!” From Jake.
Sam looked around the room, his eyes falling on the light fixtures. Some were switched on while some were not. His feet slapped against the wooden floor, and he walked over to them, peering over the top of the light shades. Maybe, just maybe….he let out an annoyed noise when he found the first 3 he looked at all had bulbs, until the 4th had a candle stuck into the fixture.
“YES!” He screamed, gripping the candle and yanking it free. “LOOK! I FOUND A CLUE! I told you I’d get us out of here!”
Jake stood smiling at his brother as Josh barked out a laugh, “Yeah, and if I recall, you said under 10 minutes? It’s been at least an hour.”
Sam held out the candle with an annoyed look but ignored him, “I think there’s something hidden in the candle. Now we need something to burn this fucker with.” He shook the item at the rest of the group as he scanned the room.
Josh took the candle from his brothers hand, “Maybe we don’t even need that…”
Before Sam could even ask what the hell he meant, his older brother began to chew at the candle. “Josh!”
Jake and Danny rushed over to find the curly haired man gnawing at the candle, trying his best to get to whatever was inside. “Not your teeth, Josh.” Danny commented.
Josh had bitten right into it and took off some chunks to whatever was hidden inside. He began to try and snap it in half. “Give it here!” Jake let out since now Josh was spitting out pieces of wax.
Gently, Jake cracked off the best he could of the wax and found a little plastic tube. He grinned to the fest of them as he popped it open.
Inside was a rolled up piece of paper.
“Oh, it’s literally like you’re a real pirate now.” Sam chuckled as Jake grinned to him and unrolled the paper.
“Your name is freedom.” He read out before lifting an eyebrow to the clue.
“Your name? Whose name? My name?” Sam commented perplexed.
“Wait, I found a 6 and 20, right?” Danny walked over to the door they came through and looked at the keypad that they were told to find a code to unlock. “Maybe the numbers are the code to the door, so-“ he suddenly stopped speaking.
“What is it?” Josh asked as he followed after him.
“It’s not numbers, it’s letters.” The taller man turned to look at him then back at the keypad.
“Wait, why don’t we use our names? And just see if one opens the door?” Sam suggested walking over to the keypad and poking in S-A-M. The lights to the room suddenly turned red along with a loud siren blaring. “Attempt 1 out of 3” a voice played out in the room.
“Shit.” Josh, let out.
“Two more that’s it!?” Danny yelled out over the siren.
“I’m going to go deaf if we wait in here any longer!!!” Sam yelled.
Jake was having a hard time thinking while the siren was blaring and the other three were yelling out ideas to each other, someone said input a random object like candle, another was a colour, and someone said initials. Jakes head snapped up. “Boys! What numbers were found again??”
The siren had thankfully stopped as everyone looked at Danny, who confirmed again that he found 6 and 20. Jake furrowed his brow a little. “And the clue chairs didn’t give us anything, other than the amount of chairs in the room, which is 7." Josh added.
“The numbers are a name!” Sam screamed again. Jake clapped his head and gritted out a “Yes!”
“6 is F.” Danny smiled. “20 is V.” Sam added. “ And 7 is G.” Jake finished.
Sam just went ahead and typed it in only for the siren to go off again. “Ah shit!”
“Attempt 2 out of 3.” The voice announced.
“Sammy, really?” Josh grinned to his little brother and punched in the code. The siren turned off, the red lights went back to normal, and the door unlocked.
“It’s us! GVF!” He laughed out as he opened the door. “Well done, boys! Let’s go home.” Jake slapped a hand on Danny’s back as they all chatted and laughed together. “I swear that rug was still a clue somehow.”
Sam rolled his eyes with a laugh before grabbing his shoes and followed the res of the group, letting out another comment before the door closed behind him.
“I told you I’d get us out of there.”

Literary Masterpiece
pairing: Jake Kiszka x Female Reader
summary: You and Jake make a pit stop at the local library before leaving for tour
word count: 1,190
warnings: just a few mentions of kissing!
Tumblr media
________________________________________________________
“Jake, if you don’t knock it off we’re going to be asked to leave!”, I whisper-screamed at him, unable to stifle my laughter. Once again, Jake was causing trouble. I frequently joked to him that he is why we can’t have nice things and he is why we don’t go places. Which isn’t entirely true. We go to a lot of places.  But he always ends up causing some kind of trouble, usually accompanied by his 2 brothers, Sam and Josh, and their friend Danny. The 4 musketeers, if you will.
But on this rare occasion, it was just the two of us. Jake’s full-time job as a musician in a rising band didn’t lend us much time to do typical couple-y things. We hadn’t been on a bona fide date in months and I could count on one hand how many times we’ve actually slept in our own bed together in the past year. That’s the price you pay when you’re a rockstar, or so I’ve been told.
I’m pulled out of my thoughts by yet another noise an octave too high for the library we’re in. Sure enough, there’s my boyfriend picking up the multiple books he just knocked off a display. I playfully roll my eyes at him through the rows of books as I round the corner to help him.
“I swear I didn’t do it on purpose! I was just walking by and ‘poof’, off they went”, Jake says as he stands up to meet me, both hands up near his head in an attempt to distance himself from the mess on the floor.
“Must’ve been a ghost, huh?”, I say with a twinkle in my eye.
He chuckles and playfully nudges my arm with his. “You know those damn ghosts don’t ever leave me alone, Y/N”
If by ‘ghosts’ he means his general lack of coordination, then yes, I do know.
As we finish putting the books back that he knocked over, I lean against a table across from him. “Find any books that pique your interest yet?”, I pose.
“Nope, not yet. I’ve been too busy watching you to even look at any books” he replies with a sly grin.
“Have you been stalking me, Jacob Kiszka?” I exclaim as I feign a look of shock, bringing my free hand to my chest to add in the dramatics.
“Me? Stalk you? Darling, I couldn’t possibly. But were my eyes following you from behind the bookcases? Absolutely”
“I’m fairly certain you just described stalking, darling” I tease back, adding emphasis to the word ‘darling’.
I nudge past him towards the non-fiction, determined to find something for him to read. We’re heading out for their next show shortly and we always grab a few books for the road. I’ve already selected 3, which should last me until we get to our destination. He always picks on me for getting so immersed in the books I read. “Earth to Y/N, are you there?”, he’ll say while waving a hand in front of my face.
I scan the shelves waiting for something, anything, to jump out at me. One shelf...two shelves..three shelves….and then I see it. “The Folk Songs of North America”. That’s it, that’s the one. It’s exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for.
“Jacob, I found you the perfect book!”, I say as I pull the work from its place on the shelf.
Jake meanders over from where he had bent down to peruse other options. “Let’s see it, baby”
He takes the book from my hand and looks it over, carefully flipping through its pages. He nods his head with approval a few times as he reads over a passage or two. “Good find”, he says as he looks up with a smile.
Tumblr media
I feel butterflies in my stomach; his smile gets me every time. As rambunctious and chaotic as he can be, his sweet and tender smile just softens him completely. He melts me like butter when he then reaches his free hand up to my face to brush a few stray hairs out of my eyes.  With a featherlight touch, he brushes them gently behind my ear. Swoon.
His gentle touch lasted only for a fleeting moment as his soft smile turned devilish. I could see a little glimmer in his eyes, which should have been warning enough. However, I was too caught up in my love for him that it took me completely by surprise when he grabbed my waist and pushed me back against the shelf of books behind me. “Jacob!”, I hissed through gritted teeth.
He chuckles as he takes the books from my hands and blindly places them on a table nearby, along with the book I had just picked out for him. He never took his eyes off of me; his other hand still resting upon my hip. I wasn’t entirely sure what ideas were playing around in his head but I did know that whatever they were, they were definitely not appropriate for the public library we were in.
He brings his other hand up to cradle my cheek, closing the distance between his lips and mine. I can’t help but return the gesture, though I don’t let it last too long. It’s nearly impossible to resist him, public library or not.
I can all but feel his impish smile spread across his face against my own. He knows he’s embarrassing me; he lives for this shit.
“What? Can’t a guy kiss his girlfriend every once in a while?” He tugs on a strand of my hair as I gently nudge him off of me, unable to hide my shy smile and the rosy tint that’s creeping up my cheeks.
“You are incorrigible, Jacob Thomas. But yes, absolutely. You can kiss your girlfriend every once in a while. Just maybe not in a public library with children around,” I murmur, trailing my hand down his arm as I shoulder past him. “Let’s check these books out and head home; there’s one story, in particular, I can’t wait to get my hands on,” I wink.
Jake stands where I left him, mouth slightly agape. I think he knows from my tone of voice what I’m insinuating but he can’t quite grasp the innuendo right away. “Uh, what story would that be?” he croaks out after me, falling quickly in line with my steps as I head towards the front of the room.
What he doesn’t know is that he is my favorite story. His thoughts and words are the pages that I take in breathlessly; his body is the binding and covers that I hold as tightly as I can. Our memories together are creases in the pages that I finger through repetitively, determined to remember them forever. The dog-eared pages are the things we’ve experienced together; the good, the bad, and the ugly. The underlined passages, the notes written in the margins, the underlined snippets….all pieces of him that keep me coming back, time and time again. He is the book that I never want to put down.
He is my favorite story.

[Book 3 of 4]
Story: 5 out of 5 Smut: 4 out of 5
I went into Twisted Hate expecting to not like it; 1.) because from the first two books I was not a fan of Jules and 2.) someone told me I was going to HATE Josh Chen.
After reading it, I LOVED IT!
I kind of figured Jules’ persona was a front, but learning of her past made me feel for her. And then Josh dealing with his past betrayals, it just hurt all the more when his trust was broken yet again. Jules and Josh’s love story is a chaotic one, but so far it’s been the most beautiful as they overcome their pasts together.
For most of the book, I didn’t understand why I was told I was going to hate Josh.. but when THAT scene came up I freakin’ bawled. I’ve never felt so bad for a character like I did with this book. But no worries, as the two previous books were, this one is a HEA.
Now enjoy my rambling..
* These two are so annoyed by each other, I can’t tell whether I’m going to like it or be annoyed by it 😂
* Lol Aw fuck. She would get mugged.
* Oh. Well they tried to mug her. Jules is a badass apparently.
* Oh no. What happened to Jules in Ohio?
* Pam is being a twat. Enter Christian Harper, who obviously has a thing for Stella, and I have a feeling the girls are getting this penthouse.
* That’s right, Pam. Do as you’re told and draw up them papers 😂
* The audacity of this dude to tell her to quit just because it’s his “safe space”. Get the fuck outta here.
* One bed trope. Always love it.
* They’re giving me whiplash. Just bang it out already!
* Oh come on, Jules. Don’t act like a sleepy Josh cuddling you was that disgusting 😏
* Aw fuck. What does Max want?
* “You want someone who can challenge you. Excite you. Keep you on your toes. And as for what you need.. you need someone to bend you over and fuck that attitude right out of you.” — Josh fuckin’ Chen, ladies and gents.
* Todd ruined the moment lmao. Fucking Todd.
* Jules is a fucking savage at putting Todd in his place 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
* Jesus Christ. Josh fucks rough 😳
* Oh no. This arrangement is going to crash and burn lol
* Fucckkkkk. Max is in DC.
* I hate this Max dude so fucking much. Please let Alex or Josh kick his ass.
* Goddamnnnnn. Josh really likes choking during fucking 👀 👌🏼
* Josh doesn’t want anyone else seeing Jules all blitzed out post orgasm? Yeah, he definitely broke the rules.
* Josh defending Jules against Micah.. be still my heart 😂
* Ava being woken up by Josh and Jules’ sex noises has me laughing 😆
* Lmaooo. The girls getting arrested would ruin Alex and Josh’s make up moment.
* God, I really wish Jules will just ask Alex for a favor.
* Fuckkkk. She broke down. They really need to end this arrangement.
* Ding, ding, ding. So Josh realizes he has feelings. Finally!
* Holy shit. He actually told her she was his 😨 We’re only halfway through so I know the heartbreak is up next.
* Wow. Fuck Alistair and Adeline for doing that to Jules. But come on, girl, that was your moment to tell Josh the truth about what’s been going on!
* He fucking switch his plane tickets at the last second 😩 He gave up New Zealand to be with her in Ohio!
* Ohhh. He knows about the name change!
* A bookstore scavenger hunt as a first date? 🥹 Hell, I’m in love lol.
* Dammit. I wanted Alex and Ava to see them.
* THE AUDACITY OF MICHAEL CHEN!!! FUCK YOU! I hope you rot in prison.
* Damnnn. He tied her to the bed 😂
* Fucking Max ruining the afterglow. And I can’t believe what he wants her to steal. GET ALEX INVOLVED!
* Oh my god. Just tell Josh! This is gonna blow up in your face so bad 😩
* Goddammit, Jules. Your plan better be good.
* Ew. You went to Christian? Alex would have been better.
* Yesssss! Fuck Max. Now the hard part comes. Telling the truth.
* Wow, Josh. That was fucking cruel.
* Should have known Max wouldn’t go away so easily. Fuck this dude.
* Well fucking finally! Max got the beat down he deserved.
* “Take however much time you need. I’ll wait.” // “Why?” // “Because you’re it for me. Whether it’s today, tomorrow, a year, or decades from now, that’ll never change.” — 😭😭😭
* They made up 🥹
* Aww. They told Ava. Now who’s gonna tell Stella? Lol.
* Oh no. What’s going on with Stella now?! Where’s my last book!?
* Why do I get the feeling Dante Russo is very bad news and that this isn’t the last I’ll see of him?
* Aww. They moved in together! But Stella stayed in the apartment under Christian? I don’t trust this dude 👀

Unrelated to the writing asks, have you ever thought about bringing 1789 to broadway? Who would you cast? Any specific staging ideas?
God, I've thought about it so much over the years.
From this post from 2019, here was my dreamcast at the time:
After hearing Reeve Carney in Hadestown, I’m actually curious about what his Ronan would sound like, even though I think that I would never be fully over “OH MY GOD, RONAN’S SPIDERMAN.” But Reeve Carney has the chaotic twink vibes that I feel like Ronan needs. I still feel like he needs more GREMLIN, but I can’t think of anyone who could really give me the gremlin vibes I NEED. I don’t know, I don’t follow Broadway all that much these days since I switched to Toho/Zuka/French musicals. Lazare (1) For a Toho-esque Lazare, I really, really like Norm Lewis as a possibility. I think that he could NAIL Lazare, and he’s already played Chauvelin and Javert, so it’s like…the Trio must be completed. He has the voice, he HAS the stage presence, and he does a PHENOMENAL job at playing authoritarian assholes who nonetheless remain nuanced. Any racists who want to argue about plausibility can and will have a brick-length biography on the Chevalier Saint Georges *delicately* applied to the back of the head. (2) Ramin Karimloo, for a more Carnot-esque bent. Look…I KNOW, I KNOW that he tends to be in everyone’s Top 10 Fancasts For Everything, but…I DO think that he has the voice for Lazare, he has the stage presence, and he has the fanbase. My only concern is whether or not he’d bend my son a little too much towards the dark side. (3), which is obviously dead serious, Patti Lupone. Because she would be TERRIFYING. Marie Antoinette - SPEAKING OF EVERYONE’S MOST OVERUSED OPTIONS, I genuinely do think that Sierra Boggess could do a good job. Look, her enunciation sometimes bugs me and I’m not going to pretend that she’s my ULTIMATE FAVORITE CHRISTINE EVER, but she has a fun, sparky attitude, with the range to also do Antoinette’s more somber moments, she has a high enough range that I wouldn’t be TERRIFIED of her high notes (not to name names, but…you know who), and I just genuinely think she would have a fun time in the role. Olympe - Eva Noblezada Solène -Mandy Gonzales. Artois - Josh Young
And I'll add, since I've thought about this more over the years:
Camille Desmoulins - Derek Klena
Lucile - Philippa Soo
Artois - Tam Mutu
Danton - Josh Young
Robespierre - Aaron Tveit
I would follow the Toho production more than the French -- We want something that feels contemporary and modern, but that isn't too abstract, with a solid 2 act structure. French musicals can be a tough sell to American audiences and I refuse to explain the apocalyptic furry tea party sex nightmare. I honestly think that this would be the perfect time for 1789, just because a lot of things that it was doing 10 years ago are now popular courtesy of Hamilton. I've seen a lot of people, even in French reviews of it, call Molière l'Opera Urbain "French Hamilton" and I'm here like "Okay, clearly they did take inspiration, you can see that from the logo, I'm not saying they didn't, but also, French musical theatre did Hamilton before Hamilton. We're seeing American influences strengthening a pre-existing French framework."
The dancing can stay the same, the overall style can say the same, I would probably borrow and refresh the costuming ideas from the French, making a style that keeps the silhouettes from the time period while also modernizing them and giving them a sleek, luxurious feel. Silks and satins for Olympe and Marie Antoinette, Robespierre can keep his black velvet coat and his red and black color scheme.
We're living in the age of projectors in musicals -- I think we could do more with that. I'd love to see a creative combination of physical staging and projectors to really highlight the extreme highs and lows of France at the edge of Revolution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My gold standard doesn't actually come from either France, Japan, or America, but from Russia, with the staging of the Anna Karenina musical. (The entire musical just. Looks like this. Legitimately one of the most gorgeous stages and blocking I've ever seen in a musical *anywhere*)
We know that in my ideal world, I would pay Attia and Chouet a hundred million dollars or something so I could totally rewrite 1789 and make Peyronan canon, but since I CAN'T do that, there are a couple of things I would fiddle around with lightly, such as emphasizing the close relationship that Ronan and Solène had before everything went to shit and giving Solène and Olympe the stage together during Pour la Peine. Something that was done really well in a bootleg Japanese production I have was that they did have Lazare getting wounded during the Storming of the Bastille, with Ronan giving Solène the choice on whether to kill him or not. I would cut out the plotline to both Japanese productions on Solène becoming a Respectable Woman and let her stay as a sex worker.
Something potentially controversial, and that I'm not even sold about, is minimizing the historical figures -- it isn't that I don't like them, it's that (1) They create a lot of clutter and (2) They will not mean as much to an American audience. To a Japanese audience who are used to Rose of Versailles (and to an audience of Japanese musical theatre fans, who might have watched the Takarazuka Robespierre musical, Azure Moment, the Scarlet Pimpernel, The Poem of Love and Revolution, and Marie Antoinette) they are already familiar with Robespierre, Danton, and Desmoulins. They are Standard French Revolution Figures, we expect to see them.
...for an American audience? It isn't like I think that they're DUMB, but I'm saying that 1789 would face the same issues that Elisabeth would face on an American stage -- trying to make this part of history that Americans do not know all that much about, that isn't really part of our national identity, and to make it appealing and fun. That's a tall order. There's a reason I always said Rebecca had the best chance of being adapted of all the Kunze and Levay musicals (though maybe Lady Bess, especially on the West End), and it's because it's an adaptation of a book that is required reading for a lot of students. (It also isn't lost on me that it feels like this is only an issue. With American audiences.)
...I don't want to cut any of the three of them, not really. I love Au Palais Royal, I love A Quoi Tu Dans, I love the original staging for Ca Ira Mon Amour, but I feel like Danton is kind of the most expendable of the main cast. He can be cut, while Papa du Puget's role can be slightly emphasized more, both to emphasize Olympe's family life and to shed a little light on what the politics of the Bastille were like, since he was a very interesting man who was involved in a lot. Make Necker a ghost character who's mentioned but not seen. Cut Antoinette's love affair with Fersen, possibly give "Le Temps s'en Va" back to Ronan and Olympe, making it a sort of love at first sight situation before shit hits the fan. Tie the show's two villains, Lazare and Artois, closer together so it doesn't feel like two messy plots.
They're painful changes to make, I'm not sold on them (except for cutting Fersen), but I think they might create a slightly stronger show. In the absence of the audience being really familiar with the show, we have to settle for creating sympathetic, likeable leads and a strong love plot. If we don't have that, the show flops.

Ghost of Haddonfield: Chapter seven
Much of the afternoon and start to the evening had been spent tending to the fresh wound Michael had so graciously given you, though this was just the beginning and it absolutely would not be the last scar he incurred. Undoubtedly, it too would serve as yet another mark of his newly established control. When you'd asked life to offer you something different for a change, this is not what you meant. Now, you're just a captive of your own home.
He'd followed you into the bathroom and simply stood in the doorway, silently watching your shaken form fumble around clumsily in the medicine cabinet for a first aid kit, something you always kept handy for situations more or less like these. It made you uneasy how motionless he remained as he observed you tending to yourself, occasionally hissing a quiet string of curses when the searing bite of alcohol kissed every grotesque tooth incision and spilled little red rivers of crimson infused fluids down your trembling arm and into the sink to stain it in splotches of watery blood before being washed away. When you glance back up from tearing off a fresh strip of bandage, he's gone.
It'd become common practice tending to patients with injuries be it from harming themselves or even being attacked by another patient, though not once had you needed to treat yourself, especially for something as brutal and obscene as a human bite.
Once you finish treating your wound and packing away the mess of medical supplies scattered along the edge of the bathtub and in the sink, you leave the bathroom and slowly creep back to the kitchen but stiffen as your eyes meet Michael's broad back, stopping for a moment before continuing to wordlessly seat yourself at the round wooden dining table behind him and rest your hands within your lap. Standing at the kitchen counter, a scrunched up wad of blood-soaked paper towels lies in his hand whilst he stares out of the window into the darkening streets, watching as mid-evening begins to swallow up the warm colours of the day and replace everything in inky cold shadows illuminated by the friendly glow of carved pumpkins and street lamps.
You aren't certain whether he noticed you entering, seeing as though he didn't even so much as acknowledge your presence when you came in. Although, part of you doubts that he’s even paying attention to what's outside, moreso simply staring at his own faint reflection. Perhaps he knows that you're no longer likely to be a threat and unlikely to act out under his brooding sense of authority. In spite of Michael's total lack of words during the second confrontation, his actions from the very start were extremely intentional. He'd made it abundantly clear from the very first moment he found you at his mercy how the situation was going to be. As far as he was concerned, it was an easy concept-'Don't do anything against my wishes and you won't get hurt.'
Your tired eyes flick back and forth from your lap to the back of his head, unsure of what to say if anything. For someone who has so many questions and so much to say, you find yourself unable to come to terms with speaking. There's a sense of being trapped within one of your nightmares, but inside you know this is as real as it is obscure and yet you still fail to find one singular person to pin the blame on for this mess. Doctor Loomis offered you the job knowing full well that none of the nurses, yourself included, knew entirely who exactly it was they were caring for and what consequences it would reap, only that the pay was substantial. When you're buried six feet under the soil, money means nothing though. It's worthless if you're buried there because someone supposedly trustworthy knowingly misled you into thinking you were secure under the promise of safety and healthy pay just to meet staffing targets. Who becomes the real monster then? The doctors who swept their failings under the carpet to save face, the management who exploit their employees knowing any gullible person would jump at the opportunity of a big payday, or the patient who took advantage of obvious weaknesses for the chance of freedom?
Michael finally turns his head towards you, seemingly slipping out of his near trance-like state, unmoving and almost unbreathing. He expects you to be watching him with wide, apprehensive eyes when he faces you but only finds that your gaze is fixed to the table with an expression that balances on a bizarrely fine line between resentment and indifference, though he suspects that you're still fully aware of him watching you. From behind the mask that obscures any sign of his vaguely piqued interest, he silently observes you from the other side of the kitchen before approaching you at the table with slow footfalls, leaving the screwed up pile of towels on the counter.
You blink after a moment, gritting your teeth together as the words finally find you again after searching for what felt like forever. "I didn't fully understand at first,-I still don't, but...You're here because you think it's the last place the authorities would think to search. Well, you're wrong , you made one massive error," you pause and cast a glare in Michael's direction, noticing how his hands slowly curl into fists and each knuckle pales. If there's one thing he can't stand it's being told that he was wrong. "There are security cameras all throughout Smith's Grove. They would've caught everything. You're not safe and they'll put you away again ." The last few words roll off your tongue bitterly.
The tension suddenly snaps like a rubber band at its limit in Michael's head, grunting and then slamming an enraged first down against the table that shakes the entire unit with the force, finding your reaction vaguely comparable to the deafening shot of a gun directly beside your head. You flinch from the abrupt outburst only to offer him a spiteful scowl when shoving yourself to your feet fiercely and listening as the chair screeches out from beneath you and nearly topples backwards. Michael huffs deeply as his breathing becomes slightly strained; his way of showing his disapproval. It's short-lived, however, as he slowly paces around the edge of the table to stand in front of you and take your chin between his fingers, roughly lifting your head up to look at him. The light tilt of his head leaves you with the distinct impression that he's smirking even as you pierce through the mask's dark eyeholes.
Michael knows something that you don't, or at least haven't yet realised. He stares at you for a long moment simply eyeing you trying to burn holes through him with your searing glare, and then...It hits you, and when it does, it's not hard for him to pinpoint the exact moment. Something wicked within him stirs when watching that misplaced confidence gradually melt from your complexion, gripping your chin tighter as he hungers to watch that horrible, gut-punch realisation leak into and pool within your ever hopeless gaze, like striking the last match from the box only to have it swiftly extinguished by some unseen and foreboding entity knowing full well that it was your only way to see in the long, dark path ahead.
That camera footage would only have played up to a certain point, assuming it was saved and backed up on computers. Michael cut the power to the entire facility right before he'd found you-Undoubtedly a calculated decision. He knew exactly what he was doing. How long had he been planning this for?
You wrench your chin from his grip and utter the phrase 'bastard' under your breath still loud enough for Michael to hear, who subsequently lets out a low snort of twisted amusement. Swivelling on your heel you glare at him once more before going to storm out of the kitchen only for Michael to catch your wrist in his monstrous grasp again, something you've evidently grown tired of when whipping your head back around to glare at him. "Stop. Touching. Me," You snarl venomously, jerking your hand back in an attempt to free yourself from him, but the retaliation only fuels Michael to squeeze the frail joints tighter and tighter, lusting over the pained whimpers that tumble from your lips time and time again. He doesn't stop squeezing, however, not until he hears that one delicate, sweet phrase that fuels that ever sadistic streak. Michael leans forward, tilting his head just enough to let you know he was listening–waiting.
"F-fuck! Stop!" You cry out as the squeezing becomes overwhelming. No response. He isn't letting go. "Please!"
As quickly as his grasp on you had appeared, disappeared. Releasing you, he shoves you away and watches how you stumble back into the chair, almost on the verge of tears. Your fingers knead at the cruel ring of bruising that is already forming and for what feels like the hundredth time today, Michael swiftly reminded you that disrespect won’t be tolerated. Still rubbing at your tender wrist, you apprehensively turn to him again. "You know you can't keep me a prisoner in my own home. People will sense something is off, especially when the police are already beginning to question my involvement, no thanks to Jed."
Michael watches you as silent as ever, yet you know he's listening. He's not always a completely unreasonable man, no. He is completely capable of listening before making decisions, despite choosing not to be vocal about it. He peers down at the table momentarily as though considering your words before one hand disappears into a hip pocket and reemerges with a small silver key; the one to the door, dropping it onto the table with a light metallic clink before taking a couple of paces to the side to allow you passage to the front door. Your eyes flit to it and then back to him. For someone so silent, you were seeming to understand him frighteningly well now and it wouldn't benefit you to play games with him. Not with Michael. The wolf whom shrouds its twisted intentions behind a mask is offering the freedom the rabbit seeks, though that mask could never truly conceal the deceitful Cheshire grin lurking beneath it. You aren't shackled by your home, nor are you bound by those cold metal chains that chewed into your wrists just nights ago. You can walk out that door and go running and screaming to the police that this utter psychopath broke into your home, abused you, had his way with you. But you won't, you can't. Michael might have freed you from one nightmare, but in doing so he's pulled you straight into another, one he created, one he controls and one you’re bound to. Wherever you go, he’ll go, he will see, he will hear and he will always know.
"I understand...I think."
Michael remains motionless, simply staring at you with his hands hanging loosely by his sides before swiping his still-bleeding palm across the table and snatching up the key which leaves a dark streak of red across the light coloured wood and then moving over to the door where he promptly proceeds to unlock it then turns around and effortlessly tosses the key onto the kitchen counter. You’re free to go, but you’re not free . With one final lingering glance from him, he yanks the door open and leaves, allowing it to slam shut loudly.
Practically throwing yourself from the chair you catch yourself after stumbling shakily to the kitchen window to see just where he was headed, but Michael is already gone without a trace and you dare not follow him. A hushed ‘Where the hell?’ passes your lips as you tilt your head from side to side of the window. It’s as though as soon as he’d stepped out of the door he’d simply vanished into thin air. You slap both hands down onto the counter, frustrated and frankly terrified of what’s yet to come. This is all his fault, that god damned Doctor Samuel fucking Loomis, scumbag liar that he is. None of this would have happened if he’d have just been truthful from the beginning. Telling people that Michael was simply “Dangerous” and a “Madman” was an incredible understatement.
Stomping over to the phone, you rip it from its place on the wall and furiously dial the number for Smith’s Grove head management department, since he never usually answers his own phone. It rings for a moment before a soft female voice answers.
"Smith's Grove management PA speaking, how can I-"
"Get me Loomis, now," you snarl into the speaker, cutting her off.
"I'm sorry ma'am but Doctor Samuel Loomis isn't available at the moment. Could I ask who's calling?" She asks in her sweetest, most friendly voice, although it was clear your aggression had taken her by surprise somewhat.
"Where the hell is he?" You bite.
"I'm afraid he hasn't been in for quite some time as he's away on supposed business. He should be back within a couple of days I suspect. Can I perhaps take a message?"
You fall silent briefly whilst mulling over an appropriate response that might grab his attention and make it obvious exactly who you were talking about. "Tell him death has come back to this little town, and the blood being spilt now is just the beginning," you respond and abruptly hang up before the assistant gets the chance to even respond. Loomis had every opportunity to be upfront with you and yet, he still chose silence over honesty. But why? What reason could he have had to not only keep such a man alive but to willingly hide how dangerous he truly is? There's more to this, there must be. Whatever it is, you intend to find out.
Suddenly roused from your idle state by a sharp twinge of pain, a sharp hiss leaves your mouth, shoulder throbbing painfully in slow but steady waves. Grasping your shirt and pulling it down over the bandaged and treated wound, you grimace when your eyes catch sight of the bright red, swollen flesh. The only thing you can do is hope you've treated it in time to eliminate any chance of infection. Michael surely wouldn’t trust you enough without the risk of you opening your mouth to someone, and silencing you for good would be the only punishment suitable enough for breaking his so-called trust. A long sigh passes your lips as you tiredly rub at your eyes, still worn out from the trauma your body has dealt with over the past few days. Finally having time away from the asylum would've proven to be great if it weren't for the fact that a murderous psychopath was keeping a steady eye on your every movement.
Slinking back to the wooden chair, you idly flop into it and prop both elbows on the table, burying your face in your hands and squeezing your eyes shut tightly. If you were to open your eyes again, maybe you would find that this whole nightmare was exactly that. Just a nightmare. Yet when you open your eyes, you're still greeted with the same scene: an ever-darkening sky through the kitchen window, the blood streaked table, the wad of bloody towels. They've not moved an inch. In one fluid motion, your hand lands on the nearest item it can latch onto; that of a small square drink glass, before hurling it into the nearest wall with all your might and listening as it shatters. A scattering of small, clear shards sprays in every direction, some even remaining lodged into the walls, while the rest lay strewn across the floor.
They say once you have mastered being alone, you are ready for the company of others, that doesn't make it easy though. When everyone's life journey separated from your own, when the only heart beating in this house belonged to you, it wasn't something most could take. There are days when the brain becomes a cold fire, perhaps that's just what others call panic, but when you are alone, who are you going to call? Maybe in time, after many unpleasant days, you'll eventually learn to become okay. That somehow you'll find joy again, or maybe it'll find you. But that's just a dream though now isn't it? A very distant and ever-fading dream, slowly fizzling out with every passing day. Of course, you could tell yourself you're not truly on your own when there's always going to be a set of eyes on you, but there's no soul. There's thought, but no emotion, no reason.
You can talk to ghosts and they may very well make their precense known, but this one will never talk back.

wow they surprise us all I was expecting the little mermaid I even thought the new member of the cast was the Vanessa but they surprise us HSM3 how do you feel? I'm thrilled! But also a little bit sad if it's the last season it feels like it will unless they do one more with the musical being about themself where they have to sing the songs they wrote and also write new etc either way rina as troyella HEY NOW HEY NOW THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF!
It definitely took me by surprise. I was FULLY expecting TLM. It’s funny though, because as much as we got hints towards TLM, I spent the last couple of weeks just wracking my head trying to think of how they were going to make that work and give proper storylines to work with the characters off stage (like how every person represents a character outside of the play too). But now that they are doing hsm3, I totally can see it. I’m trying to keep my expectations low, because we could be surprised and get a 5th season. Honestly, I thought hsm3 (like most) would be what they did for a final season. So much of the plot would make more sense for the last semester? They could give us more episodes and have it cover an entire school year (less likely) or they could do your idea and have a final season that is representative of them like hsm3 did in hsm3 (more likely).
Either way, I’m really excited. I feel like the whole Corbin/Channing thing was Tim’s test run to see how well he could film a show within a show. It actually worked a lot better than I think most of us were expecting (it just sounded so chaotic at first hahahaha). I think that it’ll be Corbin’s idea to use these kids as extras since he already knows them. I’m also SO excited to see the reunions of these characters. HSM was literally foundational to my childhood so it is going to do my heart a lot of good seeing everyone together. It will make the series feel whole. Like they checked off a big “must” for the show. My dream is that they don’t just keep hsm4 in universe and actually release one (using similar scenes to the ones we see filmed in hsmtmts) on Disney+. It would be the most meta thing in existence but wouldn’t it be such a satisfying take-away from hsmtmts?
I’m already going wayyy down the rabbit hole of all of the seasons possibilities (including some ideas on how zac and Vanessa will talk to ricky and gina about being troy and gabriella and we will just have layers and layers of parallels and romantic plots stemming from the overlaps). And from all of the excitement Josh and Sofia are generating, I genuinely think s4 might top s3 which would be VERY impressive and difficult to do. Here’s to the start of speculating over the next few months 🥂

Returning to School
[Henry]
It was a long weekend and there was so much going on and he needed a break from it all. He returned back to the dorms to get his homework from Josh. He knocked on the door and waited for the boy to answer.
[Josh]
Josh opened the door and saw Henry and moved to hug him. “Hi, how are you?” He asked as he pulled away to look at him.
[Henry]
Henry was exhausted to say the least but still he found enough energy to muster up a smile for the other. He hugged Josh back before the other pulled away. “There was just so much going on that I think I am still trying to process it all. I um…I came to get my homework though. I think I should go home for a bit since my dad had the heart attack you know? I should keep an eye on him since my mom was angry at him.” He tells him.
[Josh]
“Yeah, I completely understand. Um…you don’t actually need your homework though. I just did it for you. I figured that would be easier, but I have the books you need to read. I’m sorry about your dad, but what about Hallie? Is she out of the hospital too?”
[Henry]
“You didn’t have to do that for me.” He tells him as he tries to hide a small smile. “I appreciate it though. She is still in a coma and I think she will be for a while so that her body can heal properly. Do you think you can run me through everything we were taught though real quick so I have an idea of what is going on?” He asks.
[Josh]
“Well I know I didn’t have to, but I wanted to.” He smiled before nodding. “Sure, uh did you want to go to your room?” He asks.
[Henry]
“Yeah we can do that.” He says as he takes Josh’s hand in his as they make their way next door. “Have classes been okay though? Nothing too hard or anything?”
[Josh]
Josh closed his door before walking with Henry. “Well I mean they are AP classes so yeah they are a little hard, but it’s fine. I just have been missing you. I’m glad you’re back. Even if it’s just for today.”
[Henry]
“I missed you too. Can we…can we cuddle while you show me the books? I need something that feels normal and you are always my anchor back from everything chaotic so…please?” He asks.
[Josh]
“Sure we can cuddle, but we don’t have to talk about the books now. I mean they aren’t due for a while, I just wanted to get a head start and thought you would too. And books are always a great escape when you are feeling bad…at least for me.” He smiled as they walked into the room.
[Henry]
Henry shut the door behind them as he was already in pretty casual clothes it was easy for him to just hop in bed under the covers as he waited for Josh to join him. “Yeah I like to get a head start as well to help distract from everything else.” He tells him.
[Josh]
Josh got under the covers with him and cuddled up to him before nodding. “Well they are pretty long so they should do just the trick. And you are always free to visit the library and check out whatever you want.”
[Henry]
“Mhm even if I were to visit the library my favorite librarian isn’t there to check out.” He teases as he cuddles Josh. “I am sorry about my behavior when we first got here. I was jealous and I was an asshole about it. I was upset but that doesn’t mean I should have let it out on both of you.” He tells Josh as he lays on the other’s chest.
[Josh]
“Both of us?” He asked in confusion. “Who are you talking about?”
[Henry]
“The guy you invited back to your place after the club meeting? Brett or Jake I think it was Jake.” He tells him. “I didn’t hallucinate that whole thing did I?”
[Josh]
“Oh…right…well it’s fine. I mean you acting like an asshole wasn’t fine, but you have other stuff going on. We don’t have to talk about that.” Josh says.
[Henry]
Henry nodded his head as he just stayed cuddled up. “Okay then.” He mumbled as he inhaled the other’s familiar scent and it calmed him down a bit more so he wasn’t as tense.
[Josh]
“I did join the science club though so I will be seeing him again. I hope all that jealousy is over though, because I don’t like him. We are just friends.”
[Henry]
“I am taking my meds again so it’s been helping. I feel like I am losing my family and if I were to lose you too…” He could feel his eyes watering as he tried not to cry. “But you know, Charlie told me something pretty funny.”
[Josh]
“Losing your family? I thought you said your dad is okay, and your mom is just mad. But you still have Emmett and Hallie will be fine.” He reassured him before hearing his words. “What did he say?”
[Henry]
“Everyone is fighting and trying to not be near each other because of what happened. It’s like everything is falling apart and I can’t do anything about it.” He sighed. “Well, he said that he has been getting some mysterious letters in the mail which I’m pretty sure are from your parents saying how much they would love to have him back at the library.” He laughed slightly.
[Josh]
“Well you could parent trap them.” He suggested before rolling his eyes. “Of course they would do that. They are like stalkers.” He said before sighing.
[Henry]
“Parent trap them?” He asks in confusion. “Is that like a book or something?” Henry asks before letting out a small laugh. “I think it’s pretty funny though.”
[Josh]
“Yeah, you get them all in a room where they are forced to talk it out. If they are all avoiding each other then that accomplishes nothing. But if they talk it out, who knows it might help.” He shrugs.
[Henry]
“You sure it might not make them want to kill each other?” He asks while raising a brow. “I mean it might work…maybe.” He says as he thinks about it.
[Josh]
“Killing each other would be better than ignoring each other, at least they would be talking out their problems. If they continue to ignore them, it’s easier to just forget about the person ll together.”altogether
[Henry]
“I mean I guess. I don’t want them to get angry at me either. So maybe some space will be good for them for a bit.” He says.
[Josh]
“I mean whatever you decide, Henry.” He says.
[Henry]
Henry sighs before straddling Josh’s lap and just laying on him. “What about you? How was your visit home?”
[Josh]
“Uh what are you doing?” He asked before shrugging. “It was fine, nothing super special.”
[Henry]
“I am huggling you.” He tells him as he rests his chin on Josh’s chest. “I am hug cuddling you.” He explains. “So then did you just help out at the library the whole time you were there?”
[Josh]
“Oh okay.” He nods before hearing the question. “Yeah, I just wanted to spend time with my family. It was fun.”.
[Henry]
“I also heard that Charlie signed up for a library card. I never thought I would live to see the day my uncle would get one. I never took him as the type to want to read books much.” He shrugged.
[Josh]
“I think he’s only doing it for that boy he’s dating. I don’t think he really cares that much about the books.” Josh states.
[Henry]
“Oh he got books because of Tate? Really? Must be really whipped in that case.” He smirked with a small laugh.
[Josh]
“Yeah, I guess. He was talking about being normal and none of it really made all that much sense to me.” He shrugged.
[Henry]
“Being normal? I thought he was normal? Well I mean as normal as he can get really.” He says as he looks at him. “I mean he was in the castle a lot more than my other aunts and uncles so maybe that is what he is referring to.”
[Josh]
“I don’t know, I didn't really understand all that much. And I just learned sometimes it’s better to be supportive than question things.”
[Henry]
“Yeah I guess so.” He shrugged as he cuddled against him.

Song stuck in my head: "Not Okay" Robert Grace and "8Now" Foodhouse
Amount of Sleep: I am perpetually fatigued but can't sleep cause I'm a night time person soo, too much and too little ywy
Dream Job: Something creative and hands-on, musician or artist or writer or witch doctor, herbalist florist or forest ranger or I dunno I have a lot of interests I just wanna be an RPG video game character!
Wearing: Gray sweater I stole from my partner, he got it from a blood donation drive the other day (I'm anemic so I can't qwq) and its pretty, my most stereotypically me black baggy pants, partners socks, and a lavender checkered sweater with a black hood that's soft but still doesn't fit right qwq OH and like and entire cats worth of cat fur! :D
Movies/Books that Summarize You: There aren't really any, and I'm not a movie person so besides Promare (because colorful upbeat and great soundtrack) I got nothing.
Books? I loved Heartless by Marissa Meyer, The Truth-Teller's Tale by Sharon Shinn got me interested in propinquity, anything by Tamora Pierce is a good shot, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, the Dragonkeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, I love the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner but I'm terrified of reading the last book, Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine omg
Favorite Song: Like with books I could keep going forever about music. I'll put five.
- Run Away - TxT
- The Heights by Heartbreaker (I recommend anything by them, also gores by nikbreakshearts)
- Sea by BTS
- I'm doing push-ups by Bears in Trees

Aesthetic: a cute chaotic gremlin, I violently switch aesthetics because I like whatever I like, but I also just wanna be comfy and happy and cute. Wear whatever gives me the serotonin and don't care if others don't think it matches!
Favorite Author: Okay since I already spazzed about books can I take a moment to promote Hello Bunny by nyam_nyamo on AO3 because it completely change the soulmate AU trope for me and I'll never be the same, I was screaming at them on Twitter after every update.
Alternatively if you like pain, Miintaexty is literally Satan to me
I realize these are both kpop fanfic authors but believe me. Just do it.
Random Fun Fact: I'm usually full of them but it's hard on demand. Oh I'm a weirdly good shot and it's a problem because my partner got us Nerf guns and I never remember not to shoot their face and my aim is. Good. which is bad. I'm so sorry. This has been discovered a few times and I'd definitely love to get into something that uses this odd skill.
Favorite Color: Blue and then Green, but also I just love anything colourful
Last Song: Was randomly singing You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban to bother my partner last night
Last Movie: Uhhhhh .....*shrugs*
Currently Craving: a time pause button or IRL save points
Tea or Coffee: I don't like the taste of tea but I drink it socially cause we are a Chai family and I just like warm sweet. I prefer (SWEET AND NOT BITTER) coffee but the caffeine is nooooooot good for my anxiety
Currently Working On: My marriage honestly (as in I just got married not as in we’re struggling), but also just improving my mental health and motivation enough to finish this damn degree satisfactorily so I can MOVE ON. Also getting my kitty (Nina) to like me and getting the tiny kitty (Meowki) to STOP HARRASSING NINA STOP LET HER GO TO THE BATHROOM YOU RASCAL
And decorating my new apartment. I make this place a home. Sewed the curtains myself UwU
