You pick your papers up from the town hall the next morning, grateful it didn’t take longer than a day to process. The dagger you bought the day before cools down as you leave the building - the seller said it would warm up the closer it came to a magic source, so it’s been warming up and cooling down all morning.

The driver of the wagon takes your payment and directs you to sit towards the rear. It leaves later than scheduled. With the roads being used less and the apparent lack of road witches, the jolts are worse the further you travel.

The ride is as uneventful as you can hope. The person next to you falls asleep on your shoulder, and you try to not do the same, You pass a forest on your left and notice your dagger warms as mist rises from it. The driver takes care to keep to the far side of the road

The wagon stops at posts a few times throughout the day to change horses. At night you stop at a roadside inn with locks that don’t look like they would stand against a kick. You sit up holding your bag.

The next afternoon you reach your stop. You submit your papers at the town hall and they recommend you wait until the next morning to meet the witch. They will need to fill out new forms and have her check over them. You catch someone mutter something about her mood.
