One thing I love about mutant mayhem is that Leo has a crush on an April who’s not conventionally attractive. It almost feels like, because of the turtles’ isolated upbringing* he hasn’t been influenced by the popular western beauty ideals and just thinks this ordinary human is beautiful! the disparity in kudos between a skk fic and a fic for literally any other bsd characters/ship :/

#like okay i get it skk is the most popular bsd ship by a longshot #but it does kinda suck that my skk fics will always end up being more popular than literally anything else i write for bsd #when i have way better fics tbh #okay i'm unleashing this from my drafts lol #like i get it kudos/hits/bookmarks counts aren't telling of how good a fic is #but out of my last five fics. my skk one has ONE HUNDRED kudos more than the next most kudos #and idk it also sucks that i know my skk is better than 90% of the fandom but. even my skk fics get significantly less kudos/etc #than big writers in the fandom who AREN'T EVEN GOOD #or are like. mid at best #i know in theory that the bsd fandom doesn't care about characterization but like. not only do they encourage bad characterization #it feels like sometimes they're actively against good characterization #even in j.jk and a.tla where there are major issues with bad characterization #more people seem to at least appreciate the good characterization. godddd I've started telling people on grindr that I've got a list of Dos and Do Nots in terms of hooking up and when they ask me to expand I start with something simple like, "oh for example, kissing is okay for me but I don't like doing it with tongue" to gauge reactiond and without fail every man's response has been utter disbelief and a desperate need to convince me of all the merits of two tongues touching. why are they always in such a rush to tell me after i've explicitly said it's uncomfy for me??

I woke up at a reasonable time I contacted my realtor I picked out houses to look at this weekend I set up an appt with my mortgage person I did my dishes I did my laundry I took out the piles of trash/empty boxes/etc I decluttered every surface in my apartment I dusted I picked up so much junk that was on the floor I put clothes away I shoved a lot of stuff into boxes and put the boxes in a closet/corner/etc I cleaned my water bottle I cleaned the bathroom I cleaned the window and window sill that I use for late night moody gazing time I fed myself I reviewed my finances I brushed my cat

and I finally feel 72% less overwhelmed by life than I have in ages

All of this is stuff that has been needing done for a long while and somehow I’m supposed to manage these things while also working every day? I’m never going to manage that man I’m going to have to build in “get my life together” staycations into my work time off from now on which is. A bit annoying as that means I have less time off to use for fun things like ACTUALLY GOING ON VACATIONS and doing fun things but I will adjust my life as I need to remain sane because I will love myself and meet myself where I’m at instead of trying to force me to be a way that I’m not 😙

And now. It is 5PM. I have worked enough today. It’s now edible + sudoku + bob’s burgers time baybeeeee 😎

#starlight personal #I just wanted to pat myself on the back for getting so much done today when it’s mid-PMDD luteal phase hell #so this is a bit of a humble brag I’ll admit that but I am genuinely proud of myself for knowing my limits #and working with my brain instead of against it #if I need to take time off for this stuff then I’m gonna do it because I deserve some ease #I don’t have enough time-energy-stamina to do this type of cleaning and also work and a weekend isn’t enough time to recuperate and get -#on top of things - and I’m balancing self-care (self-indulgent) and self-care (practically helpful)#I did things that were good for me (made my living space habitable and crossed things off of todo list)#and now I’m doing things that are good for me in a fun way (getting fucked up and doing puzzles)#I wish I had a jigsaw puzzle FUCK that would be the only way to make today better #self love and self compassion is hard and I feel stupid and silly BUT THAT’S OKAY it’s worth it!!!!#I cannot wait for the edible to hit so I can take a shower with spiritual significance #that’s the best part of weed tbh it’s getting to a nice level of high and then taking a shower and remembering that life is magical #high showers feel SO good and refreshing and it’s probs one of my favorite experiences in life

Nothing more frustrating than having a dream set in an amazing book series and then waking up to find out it doesn’t exist. Guess I’VE gotta write this now

#it was so INTERESTING and vivid. i woke up like ‘i swear i’ve read this’ but it doesn’t actually exist #okay so the setting was this world where the moon has cracked in half (potentially due to human intervention idk)#the tides have gone super weird because of this #the majority of humans live at basically the tops of really really tall buildings. like at high altitude #at the lower levels; it’s just water. the lower down you go the humidity increases also #so as well as the humans who live at the top of the world there are vaporous species living at the mid level and there are mer-creatures #in the sea. god knows how agriculture works in this world. i know people had rooftop gardens #maybe everyone had adapted to a vegan diet or maybe there was trade with the mermaids to get fish. idk #anyway; the majority of my dream was concerned with this elite university academy and this one problematic student named alex #he had been sentenced to life imprisonment for basically insulting the government (this was a very totalitarian regime that had formed when #the world first cracked and everything went to shit)#but he would be able to get his sentence overturned if he took this one class (i think it was civics or politics or something #with a media focus) and basically created the best propaganda video imaginable #so they were basically requiring him to recant his claims publicly; endorse the government; and he had to do it so convincingly #that his video would be rated the best in the class #the other people in the class included these two sisters who also badly needed to pass in order to graduate #and a bunch of exchange students #also the sky is basically a television in this world #everyone is up so high that they can see the moon fractured in two and it’s Really close to the earth #but you can’t see much else in the sky. so they were doing shit like beaming everyone’s class schedules and syllabi and lists of what you #need to buy for class directly into the sky #i don’t know if i’m selling it but it was so INTERESTING. i was really annoyed when i woke up and realised i couldn’t actually read this #because it doesn’t exist #APPARENTLY i have to write it. which is worrying because i’m not at all good at worldbuilding. but honestly the dream was so vivid #i can basically just.. take it and expand on it very slightly #i think what interested me was the backdrop of this elite university that all the kids of rich family go to vs the obvious reality #of this world; where there is food scarcity and very little diversity of habitats. and a dictator #personal
