I thought the fact that Big Finish can no longer use images from the TVM on their covers due to rights issues was bad enough, but it suddenly struck me when I watched this 60 Years in 60 seconds video the other day and saw it wind through the 90s as though nothing had happened, that it goes much further. Although the movie is available on iPlayer, given the Eighth Doctor has been entirely represented as seen in Night and Power of the Doctor in official anniversary compilations/images it’s evident that, unlike ten years ago, even the BBC can’t use clips/photos from the TVM in new output any more.

All this just makes me even more grateful for those later appearances, as without them Paul and Eight would now be effectively wiped from the show’s history, visually at least.

Okay, so. I finally downloaded a VPN so I could watch Doctor Who on the BBC site, but even with my location set to London, it's still not working. I clicked on the little troubleshooting link (of course I'm in the UK BBC, don't you see my IP address?), and one of the suggestions was to turn off any VPNs. Is this just in case a British person forgot their IP address was set to somewhere else, and maybe the VPN I got isn't very good, or is it not possible to watch on the BBC site with a VPN at all? Is anybody out there having any luck with this, and if so, what VPN are you using? Or does anybody have any... other suggestions for somewhere else I could maybe watch Doctor Who online?

Guess who's on TV!

First of all, I'd say they did me dirty with this picture, but my university ID was exponentially worse.

Onto the spoilers!

Our boy Matthew has arrived in Port Devine, looking a little concerned.

For good reason when he's suddenly confronted by this lad, Dara.

Ah, a fight which Matthew escapes by slipping out of his coat. (Pretty sure this is the take where we ripped it practically in two...)

Dara's questioned, he claims he's never met Matthew in his life. Hmm.

Police do some investigating (and some character stuff) before Dara makes his way to Matthew's mother (Louise)'s house to have a wee showdown.

They both in a gang and Matthew's stolen a gun. Dara needs to get it back...

Matthew's nay having it. "This is my way out. If they want the gun back, they have to let me go."

Another fight. The gun goes off! (Poor Pete and I were convinced after take one to put some padding on. My arm looks bulky because I'm strapped up with squishy stuff and allergic to plasters so it has to be in a sock)

Thank fuck no one was hurt. Dara gets the hell out of dodge -

Leaving Matthew to contemplate his mortality. And other people's, but mostly his own.

"Oh fuck, my bosses are gonna find me and murder me, oh shit. I'm far too young and pretty to die!"

Time for Matthew and Louise to follow Dara's example and get the fuck out of here.

The police are now on the Halbridges' trail, but they discover the phone tracking them and leave it in a field.

Meanwhile, Dara's been arrested for drug dealing. He refuses to talk, clearly nervous.

Ah, what's this on Dara's phone? So Matthew and Dara have been in a relationship for over a year now.

(The poor intimacy coordinator having to walk me through my just about second kiss in my entire life. And the third. And the fourth. And the fifth... Pete is a very sweet person. Made it all funny.) ("Relax your hand, Bodh. Just relax it. Open - open your fingers, just let me position your hand.")

They're both working for the same gang. Matthew was given the gun to hold onto by their bosses' and freaked out, running away with the weapon. His plan was to trade his freedom for the gun, but Dara was sent to get it back for the Brazier Brothers, notorious drug runners and gang leaders.

These guys.

Unfortunately, now Dara's had to tell the Brazier Brothers that Matthew is refusing. They're going to kill Matthew and then Dara. Oh no.

But Dara has an idea where they might be hiding.

At the caravan there's a standoff between the police and Halbridges. But when the Braizer Brothers are arrested, they're convinced to come out.

(Side note, my favourite picture of me, ever.)

Oh no, the Halbridges are going to jail and Matthew's regretting his life choices.

Matthew walked off to his new life inside a jail cell.

The end.

(This is where Niall Wright accidently sublexed my shoulder. To be fair to the man, I'd never mentioned it and he took his finger sliding in-between bone like a champ)

Look, it's me!! I was on TV! Bit sad they cut pretty much all the uses of SSE (weren't allowed BSL because we still had to speak the lines), but I got to be queer and Deaf so that's pretty nice.

BBC edits out calls for Gaza ceasefire at Scottish Bafta awards

THE BBC has edited out multiple calls for a ceasefire in Gaza from the Scottish Bafta Awards ceremony – including the presentation of an entire award.

Winners and presenters used their appearances on stage to voice solidarity with Palestinians during the event in Glasgow on Sunday evening and noticed edits on the BBC iPlayer's coverage.

One award presentation and speech by winners referencing calls for a ceasefire has been completely removed from the ceremony coverage, while no other award was cut.

Director Eilidh Munro, who won the award for best Short Film and Animation, told guests to “put pressure on institutions and our government” and to “use your voice as filmmakers and artists” while her colleague Finlay Pretsell held up one of the posters which said: “I refuse to be silent. Ceasefire now.”

The speech was seen by viewers on the livestream produced by Bafta Scotland on Sunday and shared widely online but the entire award-giving has been removed from the BBC iPlayer’s edit.

Munro told The National: "It is deeply concerning that the BBC decided to cut the entire segment of our award acceptance speech from their coverage of the Bafta Scotland Awards.

"October was the deadliest month for Palestinian journalists and filmmakers in the last 30 years and the scale of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region is horrific.

"Awards ceremonies have always been a platform to express solidarity and humanity, and we wanted to use this opportunity as filmmakers to call for peace. For the BBC to cut this, as well as actor Amir El-Masry’s appeal to a ceasefire, is simply shocking.

"It is also somewhat surreal that an event which celebrates artists and filmmakers for using their voices and creating work to speak out against injustice can also be censored.

"In my opinion, the BBC’s editorial decision to omit these peaceful signs of solidarity is neither neutral nor impartial.

Hello OFMD Tumblr thingie, and all the amazing people who are out there, and especially the ones who've been making all the posts that have made me so happy over the last few months. 💖💖💖 First and most importantly, thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who sees this!

This is my first post to Tumblr (probably pretty obvious from my huge lack of Tumblr sophistication! And the length of this post...) If you don't count reblogging things that I wanted to be able to find again. I've braved up to comment thank you to people a couple of times, but that's been it so far. I must admit it all looks a bit scary from this side of the glass, even though I can also see how friendly people mostly are.

But OFMD fandom is big! And you've been here a long time! I loved Series 1 when I watched it, and knew I wanted to watch out for Series 2, but it wasn't until I re-watched it when the Series 2 trailer came out on BBC iPlayer that I fell veeeery in love with it! And by then you were already here, and there was a language and debates about things I'd barely even noticed, and it's mostly me staring with big eyes thinking wow, and sometimes huh? and... well, you know. Plus there's trying to work out Tumblr, which I definitely haven't actually managed to do yet, and possibly never will, so... I decided to just jump in and post summat. Even just rambling, which is a bit of a specialty of mine... I mean - what's the worst that can happen, right? 😬

So... how come now? Well, I can't make art or gorgeous screenshots or gifs. I do write, but I'm still hanging out to get the right voices in my keyboard... I know them when I hear them, but you've gotta get the right rhythm going, and I'm not quite there yet, I don't think. Although really, I should probably just sit down and try (and stop waiting for work to shut up and give me time - I should be a pirate and take it!)

Anyway (told you about the rambling...) what I'm mostly doing apart from rewatching the eps on a constant loop is reading the fic. I'm picking it according to kudos on AO3, and according to recs that I see on Tumblr, and it's occured to me that alot of the stories I'm loving must have been recced looong ago, and that newbies like me totally missed them, and so maybe I could do my own recs, even if they are of older stories, and someone might find them useful. You know, if I work out how anyone else might ever see my posts. 😁 And if people aren't put off by my probably age-revealing use of emojis. (But I am entirely age-appropriate for Ed and Stede, and if I had to look up what zaddy meant too, well, that just means I matched Rhys Darby's expression in the bts, right? 🤨)

So it's not much, but I'd like to contribute even just a tiny bit to OFMD fandom in return for everything it gives me, so... yeah. That's my plan. I'll start in a bit, but this post is probably already too long since it's just rambling. And kind of dull. I should probably have said tl:dr at the top, shouldn't I, but then maybe anyone who actually saw this wouldn't, so... See, I kind of live in hope. 😊

Okay. Tags next, right? ... ack ... why won't it let me create new tags instead of just using ones from the drop down...? Well, those will have to do for now... maybe someone who sees this will have mercy and tell me how? I'll just be over here being a slight failure at Tumblr... Okay I have feelings and I'm not sure how long this is going to be so bare with me here

So, when watching doccy who as I was growing up, I had dvds rather than watching it on BBC iPlayer, but only the dvds I could find in charity shops, so i had a random selection of David Tennant basically. The collection grew over time and now I'm watching episodes I didn't even know existed! This is amazing for me to discover David Tennant eps I've never seen before!

I would like to talk for a moment about 10 and how he has been portrait in fanon and now in canon.

So when I was watching 10 growing up I felt a connection to him that as I got older I identified that I saw him as asexual, and the people i interacted with in my life also felt this and confirmed my suspicions as their headcanons as well. But more recently I have descovered the sexualisation of 10. While this is okay for me, we're all entitled to our opinions, I noticed this starting to appear in canon, most notably in the 50th anniversary, with the constant comments about how sexualised 10 is. Personally I prefered when his sexuality was ambiguous.

I have also noticed this shift from mostly could be ace to hot gay sex in good omens. Idk maybe it's the sexy David effect but I just think maybe we could have some more ace good omens, just to balance out the onslaught of Hot Gay Sex TM.

I could go on and on about how characters have been sexualised in fanon all day but I'm going to end it there. Just something to think about

Tldr: to me 10, aziraphale and Crowley are ace and I'm saddened about the sexualised nature of them in fanon.

Hey lovelies. It's been two years. Two years since OFMD started the journey to bringing all of us together. I know a lot of us are later to the party than others, but I just wanna say thank you to OFMD for helping so many of us feel loved, and included, and safe-- and for this fandom for always being so welcoming.

I think Anna's story might be in response to certain journalists on twitter and articles this morning calling The Way BBC's biggest ever flop in its timeslot for the final episode. They're pinning it all on Michael and being pretty damn harsh about it.

BBC even put out a statement to one of the papers, saying the full series had been on iPlayer for 2 weeks, and that overnight TV ratings aren't the only way to judge full viewership these days.

Also, the final episode was put up against the launch of Celebrity Big Brother. Which these articles and journalists are missing out.

I just hope Michael's okay and ignoring it, because The Way was a brave piece of television to make which he should be proud of.

Oh damn…

The thing is, Michael created a show in Brexit UK that its purpose was to piss off all these people so I hope he’s taking it all as a job well done.

If his purpose was to create a show that would make him popular and loved he wouldn’t touch this subject.

He’s a smart man, he knew there will be backlash. I hope he’s laughing at them all having meltdowns.

Now I’m more curious to watch the show than before!
