Is lesbian separatism possible in 2023?

Reader’s Question: How do you see lesbian separatism in the current age of hyper-individualism? Do you believe in it, what can it look like?

Separatism, at its core, is about independence. Cambridge Dictionary defines separatism as “the belief held by people of a particular race, religion, or other group within a country that they should be independent and have their own government or in some way live apart from other people.” 

In 2023, when it’s cool to be fluid and non-specific, lesbian separatism can be as simple as defending the definition of lesbianism. The lesbian sexual orientation is an independent, defined class of female homosexuals who should not be appropriated. Only female homosexuals should govern lesbianism. But beware – saying that will get you classed as a gatekeeper.

Dictionary definitions describe differences. Difference is great. In a way, dictionaries practice separatism. Language separates things from one another by naming how they’re different: the very core of what makes things things is what makes them unique from other things. Lesbianism’s uniqueness, what makes a lesbian a lesbian, is being both a female and a homosexual. A lesbian is a female who is exclusively attracted to other females. We don’t abstain from any dormant attraction to males – it doesn’t exist.

Defining things accurately increases the distinctness of their outline. Like a muscle that’s been worked repeatedly, or a TV with all the technological bells and whistles to make the images crisp and clear, definition is about quality and clarity. Quality and clarity require separation, whether it be sifting flour before baking, or filtering water to make it drinkable. Separation is essential to navigating the world. Separation is a normal part of life. 

Lesbians require separation to make sense of themselves.

We define what exists so we can communicate reality. Acknowledging that bisexuality, heterosexuality and homosexuality are separate sexual orientations with separate definitions does not create differences. It refers to differences that already exist. We didn’t separate ourselves, nature did. It’d be pretty boring if we were all the same.

You will hear people say the anti-separatist mantra “sexuality is fluid.” It is convenient for the powerful–those who gain power for being opposite-sex attracted–to leave homosexuals without distinction. Without distinction, without a unique language to pinpoint and explore that distinction, oppressed groups cannot articulate their treatment. Their treatment, ironically, is because they are different to what’s expected and everybody knows it. Even the anti-labellers.

Reproduction is still considered humanity’s main purpose. Forced reproduction is the root of both misogyny and homophobia. Patriarchal religion did a number on us. A homosexual body doesn’t want to fuck the opposite sex, no matter how many times we’ve wished it would… or even forced it to do the act without desire. We’re considered defective because of this lack of reproductive attraction. 

A bisexual is redeemable to heteropatriarchy because they are attracted to the sex they can reproduce with. Hallelujah, at least you have ‘normal’, child-producing desire! Heteropatriarchy doesn’t mind same-sex attraction as much if you’re capable of attraction to the opposite sex: the sex you’re “supposed to be” attracted to.

The homosexual experience is different. The female homosexual experience threatens the foundation of heteropatriarchy. *Gasp* females can have sexual and romantic desires independent from the existence of males? Females can be born with the trajectory NOT to desire males at all? ONLY desiring other females? *Faint*

Oppressors deny the oppressed separation because they expect us to assimilate to the larger powerful body for a sense of belonging–which is very important to tribal creatures–or else we are considered a threat to be punished. We can pretend to be what’s demanded of us, even to ourselves. That is how some lesbians date and sleep with men, despite their true nature, before acknowledging their lack of attraction to them. But we cannot change our nature, even by force. 

When it’s argued that sexual orientation isn’t innate, that it’s a spectrum–that we’re all bisexual with preferences–then homosexuals are denied themselves. It’s ironic, considering our difference–our attraction ONLY to the same sex–is the exact thing targeted by homophobes.

Politics is defined by the way different people interact. Our interactions are influenced by power, culture, history, context, authority, institutions and environment, among other things. Pretending we aren’t separated into classes, often hierarchised into powerful and disempowered people, keeps rulers dominating. It’s gaslighting.

Naming differences shouldn’t hierarchise them. That’s why it’s imperative we simultaneously remember we are, whether we like it or not, always part of the larger human body regardless of how remote we live with our own kind. We are different. But we are all humans. Separatism and integration can coexist.

Separatism can be as simple as advocating for lesbianism’s definition: female homosexuality. Unfortunately, people go as far as to accuse us of being exclusionary, as if we’re bullies for being female, being homosexual, and defending lesbianism as the word to describe female homosexuality. There is a huge difference between oppression and hurt feelings.

The decision of when to separate and when to integrate should be class-based and/or personal. But the lesbian’s choice is consistently made public. We’re guilted for not crossing our boundaries and integrating when it’s demanded of us. We’re guilted for wanting a room of our own.

The expectation that lesbians never separate, never outline the definition of our sexual orientation–and are punished if we do–is symptomatic of our oppression. Disempowered classes of people need space away from the powerful. Is it shocking that there is so much resistance to lesbian separatism when we’re both homosexual and female? I don’t see male-only gay clubs getting the same reaction.

What does lesbian separatism look like?

Most lesbians (86%; 1200 responders) on the Lesbian Herstory Instagram believe that lesbian separatism should look like a series of approaches and levels of commitment, rather than an ultimate destination (such as a remote lesbian commune). 

Some approaches to lesbian separatism that people mentioned:

Creating, supporting, defending and engaging with lesbian-only spaces

Questioning society and how suitable it is for us, not the other way around

Building and prioritising lesbian community and connections

Being respected and accepted as a separate, unchangeable sexual orientation 

Living with only lesbians

Learning about and supporting the most disempowered lesbians

Deliberately choosing lesbians over and over again

Lesbians making, enjoying and celebrating our own culture

Consuming lesbian media, especially made by lesbians

Learning our history and passing it down

Standing up to lesbophobes, including female homophobes

Buying from and supporting lesbian business owners

Uplifting, investing in and donating to lesbian charities, organisations, websites and initiatives 

Just over half (56%) thought lesbian separatism was necessary, the same percentage thought it was possible.

One person critiqued lesbian separatism as “not caring about the rest of the community by caring about self-identity and safe places.” Lesbians do not self-identify as lesbians, however, we’re female homosexuals whether we identify as one or not. We are oppressed by the rest of the community, meaning our seeking safety and encouraging resistance is not the root of the issue but a reaction to it.

Another said that lesbian separatism is about “removing men (and their culture) from your life, centring your life around women.” The glaring problem with this take is that it equates lesbianism with feminism. As if lesbianism is the feminist choice to centre women: the very concept of “political lesbianism.” Unfortunately, political lesbianism has strong ties to feminist land separatism and its history. When I say “lesbian,” I mean female homosexual. When I say lesbian separatism, I mean female homosexual separatism.

I believe in lesbian separatism as an adjective to describe a range of choices more than an absolute noun. We don’t have the power to slice ourselves off from the body of humanity, becoming a fully separate chunk of flesh living untethered to our natural core. But we do have the power to advocate that our natural differences are not problematic. To be respected and kept safe from hate-motived violence. In a world that erases lesbianism, any meaningful lesbian-centred action is separatist. 

We ostracise lesbians from living a more lesbian-centred life by suggesting integration and separatism are mutually exclusive. Suggesting they are an either/or proposition creates two camps of lesbians: lesbians crossing their boundaries to integrate into harmful homophobic monoliths for a sense of belonging, versus pariah lesbians who are outcasted by the aforementioned homophobic monolith for defining themselves separately. 

Many lesbians “queer” themselves, desperately avoiding the same fate of the pariah lesbians who acknowledge lesbians are a distinct class of female homosexuals. Everyday kinds of separatism, like refusing to call yourself “queer” and opting for specifics, requires confidence. Confidence is stolen from lesbians. Instead, our female-socialised accomodating nature is preyed upon so we feel too guilty to build a community of our own. Lesbian separatism is not only possible but absolutely necessary.

I took a moment tonight and watched the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix which was the third race of that year and the 1000 Grand Prix of all time. Here are some Interesting takeaway listening to the 56 laps that were led my Sir Lewis Hamilton. These are anecdotes about the race and F1 overall at the time.

- Valtteri Bottas took pole for the 7th time in his career O_O

- Valtteri was 1st in the championship at this point

- Lance out in Q1 7 races in a row (history never seems to not repeat)

- Alex Albon from the pit lane O_O

- 59th time Merc has locked out the front row in the history

- Strategy in 2019 was a planned 1 stop | Became a 2 stop for most teams to try and use mediums in the end for speed (M/H/M)

- 2 drivers spun during the formation trying to warm up their tyres with the corner elevation changes

- Torro Rosso took out both McLarens, dropping them to the back of the grid

- race went green while McLaren tried to change their parts post damage

- Lewis broke away on the start, taking 1st cleanly

- Vettel was pressuring Charles the same way Sainz does now (Charles 1st year at Ferrari)

- Lap 10 aired team orders for Charles >_< "go faster or else"

- Lap 11 aired team order for Charles to swap

- Lap 18 Nico retired due to mechanical issues

- Lap 18 Landos wing was scrapping as he came down the main straight

- Halfway Merc lockout holds with 5second gap

- Winds were are large talking point there, and its only gotten worse with the size of the cars now

- Famed Merc double pit stop on lap 36 was crazy

- Lap 43 Kyvat with Torro Rosso retired

- Lap 49 Lewis asked if Valtteri was under pressure from Seb O_O

- Also Lap 49 and Alex Albon in 10th got lapped by the top 3 in the 2nd to last corner

- Lap 45 Tom informed us Nico reported the problem that retired him

- Lap 50 and they were already talking about swapping Gasly Albon between the Red Bull teams O_O

- Hass race pace always a talking point

- Lap 53 lando retired

- Lap 54 Lewis lapped Riccardo in 7th O_O

- Lap 54 Gasly pitted for Softs for Fastest lap

- LH 74th Carrer Win

- Pit Lane to 10th place finish for Alex Albon for some points

Lap 12 Lewis led with a 3-second gap, verstapen in 5th was 11 seconds behind and Gasly in 6th 10 seconds on top of that

Lap 15 order was Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull for top6 and a mix across the rest

Lap 24 top 6 hasn't changed just reordered due to pit stops, Merc Fer Rb Fer Rb

Halfway through, Lewis is 1sec ahead of Valtteri; from there all others were less than 10 behind each other, with Ricciardo in 7th being 21 behind

Lap 30 Gasly in 6th 15sec off Verstappen, Ricciardo 5th 26 sec off Gasly O_O

Lap 41 back to Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull top 6

Lap 42 Gasly in 6th and 33sec off Verstappen, Ricciardo 7th 10sec behind Gasly

Lap 55 Gasly in 6th and 59 seconds off Charles, Ricciardo 7th 15sec behind Gasly

Final - Lewis led by 6sec / Valtteri had another 13 on Seb with everyone below Ricciardo in 7th being lapped 1 time and everyone below 16th Russell that didn't DNF being lapped 2 times

hi!! hihi I just wanted to say i commented on your fic yesterday too but you’ve fully rotted my brain with kenny as a did system (from one system to another, it’s hard to find good plural hcs for characters :/) so if you wanted to share any hcs or anything here that’d be so cool!!! :3

And when I tell yolu that I am totally right about kenny omega having DiD I mean I am competely right! For those that don't know what DiD is it stands for dissoctive identity disorder [formally known as MPD or mutiple personality disorder] affects about 1.5% of the population and its an trauma disorder formed during the early childhood stage [between 2-7 years old.] It is regularly caused by any cause of severe trauma [sexual/emotional/physical ect] combinded with the obvious stress that going through that stuff causes. Extreme childhood trauma causes the brain to fracture before the child can gain and/or form a connected sense of self being, this disconnect continues and every part of distinct "personality" becomes more and more disconnected and dissociated and slowly start to form their own existence and behaviour, thus becoming "parts" or "alters" or "headmates" that exist to protect the child as they grow and go through trauma rather than the child going through said trauma alone.

MPD was renamed DID in 1994 since it is a dissociative disorder [as well as a posttraumatic stress disorder] instead of a personality disorder. DID is often catagorised/explained as

Alters can take different forms, introjects [alters based on media- yes this can also mean real people], non human alters [things like animals, based on objects, demons and angels - this is common in DID systems since a lot of us that I have interacted with have religious trauma /told we were possessed]. anything really. Alters normally form for a job [for example, Hangman in our system is a caretaker, meaning they exist to take care of the body/headspace. Kenny in our system is a companion, which means he exists to be a friend] Switching [mostly involentary changing from alter to alter] can cause amnesia and theres three types of dissocitive anmenia:

Localized: meaning you cannot remember specific events, times, places

Selective: you can't details/events of a specific timeframe

Generalized: This is the least common type. You can’t remember anything about your identity and life history.

So how is it diagnosed and how does it relate to one Kenneth Omega? well looking at the DSM-5:

Two or more distinct identities or personality states are present, each with its own relatively enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self.

This is probably the most strongest bit of evidence with Kenny having DID. Theres him; Kenny omega. the bright blue eyed, blond haired, dorky smile kenny who sings tina turner and drinks from bottles weirdly and wears onesies. The kenny we see during the early BTE, the days in DDT, vaguely around the same time with his early tagteam with Hangman. You know Kenny omega! we LOVE kenny omega!

And then we have the cleaner. That dark, evil hurtful one who doesnt care about anyone or anything just winning. that heartless, cold man who wears Kennys skin like a cloak. The first real time we see the cleaner [at least, in my opinion. and since this is my headcanon, my opinion is law /lh j] is just after Kota moves up to the heavyweight devision, leaving Kenny alone. He instantly turns into that coldhearted, empty soulless almsot killing machine whose so addicted to winning because thats the only thing that shows that he exists. With his black dyed curls and dark sunglasses and wild eyes. Theres, no Kenny omega left. Only the cleaner. Goofey in a way thats soulless, kind in a way thats manipultive.

If you need any proof that Kenny fucking LOOSES it before him and Kota reuinite. Just look at his eyes after he betrays AJ styles to become the leader of bullet club because theyre totally normal [lying through my teeth]

Also just this moment right after the formation of the elite, Kenny being the first one to drop the two sweet, almost like somethings just switch off in his body, the half open eyes. The twisted smile that looks almost like hes in pain? yeah...

Amnesia must occur, defined as gaps in the recall of everyday events, important personal information, and/or traumatic events.

There isnt much like,. spoken about evidence about this at least what I can recall off the top of my head. Theres a few little bits where Kenny doesn't seem to recognise or remember bits about himself, his friends. The moment that I can remember off the top of my head, that makes me feel a little insane. If when Kenny and Hangman get their first wrestling figures. Kenny asks if Hangers figure has his "baby blues" to which Hanger replies "my eyes are green." Sure it could just be a little slip of his tongue, Kenny wrapped up too much in the excitement of having hi8s own little figure. But him and Hangman have known each other for *years* at this point. Wouldnt kenny remember something as trivial as hangmans eye colour? especially when hes right in front of him.

The person must be distressed by the disorder or have trouble functioning in one or more major life areas because of the disorder.

okay thats a little mean, and painfully honest. But I could go more deeper into this and I might because I do in fact, have problems when it comes to thinking about Kenny Omega. But theres two places where Kenny fails at existing and functioning. And thats his own health and relationships. We all know about his fucked up relationship with Kota Ibushi, its documented in enough essays and video essays and enough fanfic to not only sink a battleship but to also keep me awake at night. But the one I really wanna focus on because [suprise suprise, the hangkenny shipper wants to focus on hangkenny] i think its the biggest showing of his inability of function with relationships is his one with Hangman page:

Its..rocky to say the best, lowkey controlling at worse. and neither of them are really to blame. Kenny is struggling with the constant fighting between Hangman and the Bucks. Especially in this video [big thanks to @jacedoe Mars ily so much!!] Where the bucks are fighting over him with hangman and Kenny is litearlly being pulled from pillar to post. Not sure who to go to, much like a child dragged from parent to parent in a divorce. And you see him go from, midly tired and aching to upset and unable to control his emotions but at the same time so emotionally shut down that he just walks away after hugging the bucks.

Kennys relationships, romantic or otherwise shift and change so quickly that its almost like, he doesnt want to be loved, doesnt get it and thats exactly what it is, I personally think Kenny doesnt understand what love IS. He doesnt know what its really meant to feel like, like deep down hes never sure what it is. Hes never had it as a child.

AKA growing up with Don Callis, he mentions in his promo during all in that Don made him only focus on hockey, never having a birthday party/never being allowed to keep friends. that sounds like phycological/mental abuse to me. It sounds like mental abuse because it is. One of the most common malipulation practices for mental abuse is seperating people from anyone who can help them or see that its wrong. Now look at just how many times the Bucks have tried to show Kenny that Don is a peice of shit or that Jericho is only using kenny for his own uses before Kenny can be thrown away.

Callis also constantly putting Kenny down is also a sign of mental abuse. The half jokes when he smiles and pats Kenny on the shoulders afterwards why he just sits there...tell me thats not abuse.

The biggest, showing of the fact that Kenny went through abuse because of Don is the "vitimans." an uncessary and more then likely uncomfortable and invasive procedure on a child while Kenny hopes that itll bring him a little scrap of love? Its all a part of dons plan to keep kenny in the public eye but ulimately his.

what im saying is Kenny omega growing up with don callis, suffered horiffic mental and physical abuse [weve seen him hit Takeshita, so kenny would be no different] and thats impacted his ability to form and make relationships.

The disturbance is not part of normal cultural or religious practices.

I have nothing for this point, not knowing Kenny yknow. personally.

The symptoms cannot be due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (such as blackouts or chaotic behavior during alcohol intoxication) or a general medical condition (such as complex partial seizures).

Kenny doesnt drink or suffer from any blackouts as far as we know nothing worse than vertigo. again this is only that we know so like, I could be wrong

ignoring my last post about how stressed i am, heres some recent fable thoughts! (the smp, not the man. ok maybe the man too)

i Adore enderian talking to Rae. obviously its not very good for him, but from a narrative standpoint i think its such a cool choice, because enderian gets to share her side but only rae to hear it. anything she says he has to choose to share with others. he is in control of her narrative right now

Fable is a BITCH. i think i saw sage posting about this but the way he is slowly isolating icarus and manipulating the conversation to seem like he is doing the right thing, just like he always has, its so NEAT. in case you didn't know i'm a nerd for narratives and story telling

i keep thinking about the future book. neither fable or icarus have seen it, since rae kinda flew away before he could even think about it and he hasnt talked to icarus since, but its already sort of coming true by fable's own hand. he is driving a rift between the brothers the same way there is one between him and enderian. if this book does play out fully though, someone will need to realize what he's doing. I think it'll be athena. netherum and soul are two people we hear about a lot but havent gotten to hear from, though we know soul helped isla. as much as icarus is basically a mini fable, they are still partly isla too. same with rae. i think this is part of what will stop them from repeating their parents history.

i dont know what's happening with centross but i think Epros has something to do with it. i don't know how, or why, but with how much time centross spent in the end, we know epros was watching.

i don't keep up with the non fable sherbverse lore enough to fully understand what might be happening with quixis but they're so neat. i've been thinking about how they almost seemed to panic when fable was going to be released and what this implies now that we've seen more of fable for ourselves.

Grian could hear the shouting from all the way up in the air as he flew over Scar's base. Curious and concerned, he swooped down to find the source of the commotion. The source was, as Grian suspected, the unlit interior of a half-finished building where Scar was attempting to light torches while simultaneously fighting off a (quite frankly impressive) number of zombies.

"Get OUT of my BASE!" Scar screamed as he cut down mob after mob with his sword, dodging the ones he could, but still taking a fair few swipes to the face. By the dim torchlight, Grian could see Scar's face twisted into a snarl. There were beads of moisture on Scar's cheeks that could have been sweat or tears, maybe both, but Grian would worry about that later. He quickly set his spawn at a bed that had been haphazardly placed in a random spot outside before drawing his sword and a handful of torches and rushing into the fray to help his friend.

Scar didn't acknowledge Grian, and Grian wasn't sure Scar even noticed he was there. He was just as hyper-focused as Grian was used to seeing him while landscaping or building, but he'd never seen Scar fight with such ferocity. He knew Scar had a history with zombies, but Grian never pressed his friend for any details.

After a few minutes, the two of them had the area bright with torchlight and clear of hostile mobs.

"Hey, Scar," Grian said, slightly out of breath.

Instead if greeting him in return or getting startled like he usually did when Grian appeared out of nowhere, Scar spun around, sword still drawn and dripping with zombie blood, and charged. His expression was manic: lips curled and eyes wide.

"Wow, Scar, calm down mate, it's just me!"

Scar didn't respond. He lunged at Grian and brought his sword down hard.

Grian just narrowly dodged Scar’s blow. "What the... Scar! Stop! It's me, it's Grian!"

"Get out!" Scar growled and struck again, this time his sword cut Grian across the chest.

Grian shouted in pain and staggered back. He tripped on a torch and fell backwards with Scar still rushing him.

"Disgusting!" Scar said, raising his sword. He brought it down swiftly, and Grian rolled out of the way, but still took a slash to his arm. "Ugly, hideous, worthless monsters! I HATE YOU!"

Worthless...

Worthless...

"You're worthless, Grian. No one likes you."

An old voice that Grian thought he'd forgotten echoed in his memory and forced its way to the surface.

"Not now," Grian muttered under his breath. He looked up as Scar, his vision clouding with tears. "Scar, please-"

"DIE!"

One final blow and Grian saw red, then black, then... then the outside of the building. He gasped for breath and looked around frantically. He was standing next to the bed outside.

It was quite enough that he could hear his own rushing heartbeat. He took a few moments to catch his breath before going back inside to gather his gear and face Scar.

Scar was kneeling on the ground silent and still, his sword laying next to him, cradling Grian’s helmet in his arms.

"Scar," Grian said, his voice was small and he was afraid Scar hadn't heard him.

Scar grabbed his sword and jumped up. Grian flinched when Scar turned around, and Scar dropped the sword as soon as he saw Grian.

"Grian I... I'm so sorry! I... I though-"

"Do you really think I'm worthless?" Grian asked quietly, not daring to meet Scar’s eyes.

"WHAT? Grian, no! You... you're my best friend I... did I say that?"

Grian wordlessly collected his gear, never looking directly at Scar.

"Grian, please! I'm sorry. Can we talk? Will you let me explain?"

Grian put his armor and elytra back on, facing away from his friend.

"Good night, Scar." Grian ignored Scar's protests and the tears burning his own eyes and took off towards his own base.

i really enjoy the action sequences in this episode, usually its just carmen and someone else fighting but paper star here is obviously trying to do damage to carmen instead of just trying to get the artifacts back. a small detail that really does being a lot of character for paper star.

The flood hate gate has been opened. I shall tell you the tale of Shadow wars part 2.

Falling siblings is what shadow wars part 2 is called. Shadow wars part 2 has a lot more visual elements than history elements that have been defined. Although history is still definitely in there.

Attempting to boil down the plot to its simplicities.

Shadow has a twin egg and dies of old age. These twins are both crowned king despite the fact that one is male and one is female. The locked door doesn't have the word queen. "The brother" is still given a higher range than "the sister" (All the characters in the fallen sibling timeline have no names)

Due to Shadow's dragon still being discriminated the brother decides he's going to take physical action. Starting another war. Although this time with just the light dragons. His sister does not agree with this and after a rather planned out event called "the argument" she runs away to the light dragon castle in order to warn them of her brother's plan.

Of course being discriminated against she does not make it far. Luckily she does find a light dragon who is not discriminatory. I've always simply called him "The Prince" since he is the son of the Light dragon King. The Prince cares for the sister becoming her boyfriend.

The light dragon King is not pleased by his son's decision. And tries to kick her out of the light dragon kingdom not caring that the brother is going to start another war. The prince is able to convince some of his people to leave with the sister. Creating a secondary alliance between Shadow dragons the sister also gains and Light dragons. A peaceful in between. But the war goes on anyways. I don't have a lot of points about the war in general.

In the final fight though you find out why it's called falling siblings.

The mix group the Light dragon army and the Shadow dragon army all commence in a fight. And while the mix group is mostly peaceful in their attempts and is trying to stop it chaos ensues. The sister, done with her brothers actions attacks him and flies up high into the air. While her brother is still in her arms she dives down and does a maneuver I call fire wings. It is when a dragon dive so quickly and so fast while breathing fire that their body gets encompassed in flames. When they land or when they start to fly properly it creates a large scale explosion.

Her brother realizing this apologizes. He never meant to drive her away. He didn't want a war and he didn't want to cause problems. He just wanted things to change and thought this was the only way to do it. This causes a sister to regret her decision but before she can change her mind they land. This of course kills the brother In the explosion.

The light dragon king is of course happy at the Shadow King's death celebrating a victory that he did not win. The sister is a course furious. Enraged by the new pain of knowing that her brother just did it out of care. The sister, the prince, and the mix group leave. Promising that soon all dragons would be treated equally. The light dragon king is of course destroyed by the fact that his son chose Shadow dragons over himself and promises revenge.

After this the third part of Shadow war starts. It is a relatively new section and therefore is only named after the protagonist in it. The hybrid.

So what do you think of part two?

Get fucked old man. This aint your time anymore!!/lh Understandable that there is less history/world building since part 1 already set that up. Shadow will be greatly missed. Can't blame the brother though, they probably tried all the other more peaceful routes already and no change had come. Anyone would be down to their last straw. The miscommunication is heartbreaking though since she probably realizes that if they just actually talked then things would've played out differently and her brother would still be alive. Though what's all the other kingdom's thoughts on this since they've been pushed to the background for this part.

So! OG Animaniacs Fandom seems to be a mostly forgotten chapter in Internet fandom history. Arguably, it was one of the very first Internet/Online fandoms with a unique, discernable “culture.” These fan cultures had existed before – but Animaniacs, arguably one of the first “Megafandoms” - that is to say, one of the first with its genesis (as opposed to merely its continuation) on the Internet - just happened to premiere during September, 1993. Also known on the early Internet as the ETERNAL SEPTEMBER (no, I am not making this up! See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_September).

I’ll just come out and say it: I was in the original Animaniacs (A!)/Pinky and the Brain (PatB) fandom starting in…in some form, at least as a lurker, September 1993, when the show first started airing on our local affiliate Fox Kids before it jumped the shark by jumping to the Kids’ WB.

Oh, haha, I kid about that last part. Please just read everything here as kidding/sarcastic, because it is. What is it that you kids do these days? Tone indicators? Read all of this as /j /lh /s or whatevertheheck. You know what I mean. Anyway, possibly earlier, because a.t.a (alt.tv.animaniacs on usenet) was preceded by alt.tv.tiny-toon. And I was a cagey, anxious, fringe-s kid who was really way, way, way too young to be there.

Oh, yes! “Kids” in early Internet fandom! Funny story about that.

So I had started posting some of the first fan works/meta, or whatever the heck it’s called now, for this A!/PatB...stuff, online, by 1994, and…just give me a sec here to chug some, um, “grape juice.” Boy am I super proud of this and this short series of “fandom history” I am about to share throughout this summer, and not ashamed at all. Oh, boy. From back then, when we all had “Warnersonas” on irc and this one total weirdo had a PatB-sona unlike the normal fans.

Also, though: there are lots of legit opinions about who the very best Animaniacs character is, but if you say it’s not Slappy Squirrel, then you’re objectively wrong. And Pinky/Brain, which totally normal people all shipped back then and was a totally normal mundane expected thing, was called Pinky/Brain or maybe Pinky x Brain but smushnames weren’t a thing yet you kids so that’s just what the ship is called, also they are married. My gay mouse uncles were married back then and it was canon. Sorry, I don’t make the A! rules. /j /s /lh. What’s your take on some of the Middle East countries in Hetalia?

Middle East countries are technically a whole new world for me, I personally don’t know them all much along with South and Southeast Asian countries!!! However, it would be very fun to imagine Hetalia gets more expanded to also include the rich history of its region,,, I can see how some are very developed in architecture or techniques- Their presence in Hetalia might benefit for my world history knowledge/lh

I really wish there is more Hetalia content related to them too- I’m also rn drawing a Saudi Arabia OC in honor of a friend :D (i’m looking at you rn Klai/ih). I only know a few things about some of them…. I keep remembering names like Yemen, Turkeye, Saudia Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Palestine,Qatar(is always World Cup that reminded me-/ih), and Iran, despite not knowing much about their history(I wish I can know something that is WAY deeper than the Camp David Event and the Israel-Palestine conflict surface part;; ill rather talk about the cultural aspects overall)

listen, the first thing you should know about him is that

there's a part where he eventually opens up saying he is indeed aware that he's being a bit too overconfident and prideful and it's because he doesn't want to be seen as forgettable, as he used to be before. there was a point where he got praised for being smart, and he suddenly craved for that because he's remembered for something. and wants to keep that up. suddenly you relate to the incel because he has to be at the top of the class so that he won't be forgotten,,, and I think that's so neat that despite him appearing so annoying at first, you end up sympathizing especially when it's so relatable and that's exactly why I love him /p

let's debunk or confirm the things that i said/predicted when the trailer dropped

kazuki and miri are preparing but i'm still not sure if they're preparing for rei's birthday because putting kazurei's conversation aside, it should be related to the episode still like the previous trailer for episode 7

since miri's zoo trip is over and the rainy season was shown in episode 7, and kazurei talked about the summer weather, i can only guess that it really is gonna be a rei birthday thing because no way is it miri's birthday bc hers is in november, and her acquisition was in christmas eve

rei bday might be somewhere between june to september

you can hear extremely loud cicadas, and this ties in pretty well with kazurei's conversation about summer during the trailer!

the suwa manor i assume??

yes it's the suwa manor. we could see similar architecture on the outside compared to episode 3's flashback scene

a little bit of benefit of the doubt for those windows because it has been some time since episode 3's flashback to current timeline

this implies that despite kyutaro once looking at rei saying he knows the consequences of betraying the organization the most, he is in contact with his boss (father)

unfortunately, despite that line, he didn't betray the organization. he also wasn't in contact with his boss the entire time he was gone

did he have an escape attempt once? is this episode going to elaborate on that? this seems more of a rei backstory episode after kazuki's backstory episode

the episode does end up elaborating! though he never had an escape attempt. his boss was fully aware of him leaving the manor for elsewhere and made an oath to return

if kazuki's wife died five years ago and rei left the suwa manor (and by extension, the organization) three years ago, that means there's a two year gap between them meeting... curious as to what happened during then

im willing to bet kazuki's the one who did her hairstyle because i feel like rei would just accidentally tug on her hair every few seconds but i might be proven wrong or they never show us

i really do wonder what sort of conversation they're having in the midst of a gunfight inside a ship maybe the organization found out about miri and them taking in miri?

they were talking about rei leaving the organization, a little bit of their history, complete with a debate between someone who follows the organization's rules to the letter and someone who strayed from the path for something they wanted to protect

this definitely resonates with rei because

he never tells ogino the last words he saw kaji mouthing while he fell to his death despite knowing what they are

he also found two someones to protect (i'll never forget this scene where his voice sounded really panicked)

Guns!!! And Tanegashima goes pow pow 🔫

Take a shot every time you see the joke "Demon Slayer would take half of the time if they gave a gun to Inozuke", then they realise that Genya does have a gun and that Inozuke does not have one because for him that's probably an alien mechanism (Or an Oni one ba dum tsss). And then everyone asks: "WHY DOES GENYA AS A GUN?!" CAUSE THEY WERE A THING AT THE TIME FOR GOODNESS GRACE!!! Once again this happens because people forget that we are in the Taisho Era [1912-1926] and that Japan was a war machine, while being in the perception that they did not know what guns where, because of the tale that the true warrior would only use a katana. Well, let me tell you that the Japanese loved a good gun ever since the 16th century and we have the Portuguese to thank for that. (PORTUGAL C*R*LH*) The Portuguese arrived at Tanegashima in 1543. And arrived by accident. At the time the Ming Empire and the Japanese Empire were not in good terms (are we even surprised?), and with the Ming closing the borders to foreign trade, it was the pirates that made the trade (cue the One Piece opening). The Waku (not waku waku meaning excited for the love of God, Waku means pirate) would trade the Japanese silver for Chinese silks, but still with a lot to gamble. And then the Portuguese arrived at Macau, and casually became the 3rd party that brought to the Japanese and Chinese what was needed for the trade. Now in the Japanese ports more western trinkets would show like bread, tobacco, dark skinned people, plants, and you guessed it, guns!

When the Portuguese and other Europeans [mainly Dutch] arrived in Japan, the country was at war [yes, the Sengoku Jiddai], so every type of war mechanism would be welcomed. The Daimyo of Tanegashima - Tanegashima Tokitaka - saw one Portuguese sailor, that arrived in a Chinese cargo, shooting ducks, and he quickly asked for shooting lessons. Soon he would buy the gun for himself and order his swordsmiths to replicate the weapons. Within a year the Japanese were able to replicate the gun and within a decade there would be gunsmiths all over the territory. The gun was called “tanegashima” only later being called “teppo”. There would be also books that would explain how to use them. But these weapons would be quickly adopted, used, but also quickly abandoned. By 1560 guns were already being used in battle. The battle of Nagashino was the most iconic one in history in these terms, since Oda Nobunaga used for the 1st time western techniques merged with the Japanese ones. But there was one problem with using guns in battle, all the rituals that took place before could be in danger (oh the drama). Normally, before the slaughter, enemies would exchange some words like presenting themselves or exchanging complements. But with guns, one could skip that and just shoot from afar. Guns were starting to be seem as double edge sword (please appreciate the joke). Everyone could learn to fire a gun and because of that it became a symbol of a lowly warrior. The mighty samurai still carried the 2 swords, the low-ranking ones started carrying a sword and a gun. Firearms were at its hight, and because of that the resistance would begin. A lowly farmer could kill a samurai. The skill stopped being needed in the warrior but in the weapon. On one hand everyone realised that these guns were superior, but on the other, no one on the bushi class would use them. The Japanese moved from sword to sword with guns, to only swords again. The last big battle were guns had a part was in the Shimabara rebellion. And after that samurai when back to the sword lessons. In reality there was never a formal ban of firearms in Japan. The Tokugawa Shoguns 1st started to control the production of Guns in 1607, were then 1st tried to unite all gunsmiths in the same place at Nagahama. Japan's being against the use of the gun could also be explain to his general reaction against outside ideas. F1Technical's senior writer Balázs Szabó picks out the trivia ahead of the Silverstone round. Track facts – The 5.891km-long track is one of the favourite with drivers and fans thanks to the sequences of fast and flowing corners that thrill both competitors and spectators alike. Drivers will cover a total of 52 lap today to complete the race distance of 306.198km. The fastest race lap belongs to Max Verstappen who set the fastest ever race lap with a time of 1’27.097 in 2020. Drivers will need to adhere to a speed limit of 80km/h in the pit lane when diving into the pits for fresh tyres. Three – Over the 73-year-long history of Formula One, three different venue have hosted the British Grand Prix. Aintree has appeared four times on Grand Prix calendar, Brands Hatch on twelve occasions while Silverstone has given place to all the other races. Brooklands held the first two races, albeit it was ahead of the birth of the F1 championship. Ferrari and Ferrari – The Italian manufacturer is the most successful marque both as a constructor and an engine supplier. They have claimed 16 victories so far in history of the British Grand Prix. McLaren is the second most successful constructor with fourteen wins followed by Williams with ten wins. Among the engine suppliers, Ferrari is followed by Ford with fourteen triumphs and Renault with twelve victories. 77 – Today’s race will be the 78th running of the British Grand Prix and the 74th FIA Formula One British Grand Prix. It was first held back in 1926, followed by three other races before 1950. The venue then became the birthplace for Grand Prix racing. Overtaking aid – There are two DRS zones at Silverstone. The first one has its detection point 25m before Turn 3 and its activation point 30m after Turn 5. The second zone has its detection point at Turn 11 and its activation point at Turn 14. Hard compounds - With the British circuit placing the highest energy demands on tyres all year, Pirelli has nominated the three compounds of the more durable end of its range for this weekend: C1 as the P Zero White hard, C2 as the P Zero Yellow medium, and C3 as the P Zero Red soft. Modifications – The 5.891km Silverstone track has gone through some changes for this year. The straight gravel part in the run-off in Turn 1 has been replaced with a 40x40m asphalt section. Between Turns 5 and 6 on the LHS new concrete walls with a debris fence have been installed. At Turns 6 and 9, the tyre barriers have been replaced with new tyres including new conveyor belts. Furthermore, between Turns 13 and 14 on the LHS barriers have been realigned for approximately 260m. The home hero – Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the British Grand Prix, having won his home race eight times. The Stevenage-born driver scored his first win at Silverstone in challenging wet conditions in 2008, but needed to wait for his second win until 2014, and has won every British Grand Prix since then with the exception of the 2018 edition of the race that was won by Sebastian Vettel. via F1Technical.net .
