You’re mad at him. Alden can tell because you’ve re-arranged the items on his desk. You know it drives him completely crazy. His workspace has a certain feng shui, everything in its rightful place but today, his stapler’s on the wrong side, his orchid’s tilted at a 90 degree angle and he doesn’t even know where his hole punch is.

He sighs as he returns the stapler to its correct place because the truth is he should have told you he was meeting up with Viv. He just didn’t want to get into it because it brings up a lot of other things, things he doesn’t want to talk about.

He knows it’s not the fact he caught up with Vivian that bothers you, it’s the fact he kept it a secret, the fact you found out because you literally ran into them. He’d told you he had an early meeting as you were heading out for your jog, promised he’s catch up with you at lunch if you were both in the office.

He’d been coming out of the Café Futo with Viv when he’d glanced up and saw you coming, skin flushed, ear buds in. You’d been talking about changing up your running route, he just hadn’t realised in which direction it would take you.

He’d seen the look on your face, the moment you’d realised he’d been keeping something from you. Your ex-husband used to do that too. He’d fuck other women, make you think it was all in your head. He’d taken a step towards you, but you were already gone.

“You haven’t told her.” Viv had said as you disappeared from his view. “You should explain why we do this once a year.”

“It’s not that simple.” He tells her and Vivian gives him the look he knows so well.

“This thing, it erodes marriages.” She reminds him as she removes her car keys from her jacket pocket. “It destroyed ours.”

He waits for you at the apartment that night but you don’t come home. Some of your clothes are gone along with your phone charger. You’ve only taken a few items and he thinks that’s a blessing, it’s a sign you’re coming back. Right now you just need space.

The next time he sees you, he’s stepping onto the elevator. You don’t say anything when he takes up residence alongside you, the grip on your purse tightens and he hates that he’s causing that tension, that he’s the one doing this to you. He has the power right here in his hands to stop all of this. He just needs to strong enough to say it.

“Viv and I…” He says quietly. “We used to have a daughter. Yesterday was her birthday.”

You tilt your head towards him and he stares straight ahead at the closed doors.

“Losing her is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.” He tells you, swallowing hard against the agony in his chest. “I still can’t talk about.”

“Alden…” You begin and his jaw clenches because this he thinks, this is the worst thing he’s every done to you.

“I never meant to keep it from you. I just…” The words die on his lips because simply there is no way to explain it.

“Alden…” You whisper, your hand slipping into his. He tilts his head towards you then and you can see his heart breaking into a million pieces right before your eyes. “Alden, I’m sorry.”

dennis is an angry character btw im sorry but he is full of rage but that rage is not exclusive his anger does not negate sadness and fragility and insecurities in fact they work together and dtamhd was one of the first times where his anger was not used as a joke via a surface level rage explosion from him but instead explored the fragility of his anger. the way he keeps reassuring the workers he encounters (and himself) that he's not mad. when he tells daisy he's not mad but he is a little bit upset. dennis is angry and that anger is what makes him so fragile. he was upset and it manifested as rage bc he doesnt know what to do with his own sadness

i don’t like hunger games au at all, and i avoid reading not completed fics generally but can i say. Can i say that your hunger games fic is the only think i’ve been capable of thinking for the last days and it’ s only the first chapter? the snippet of the dinner scene —"will you love me if i come back a monster?" / "i will always love you anakin"— made me lose my breathe jesus christ. this fic is everything i ever asked — unhinged lovers for each other, anakin being that younger version of vader who bite onto obiwan and never will let him go, obiwan too addicted to loving and be loved by anakin to standing the thought of losing him, codependency relationship based on needs and possessiveness and crazy addiction they will die if it’s not for this love? the "marriage vows who sealed the death of twenty three kids" line ? i can’t breathe you’re a genius

ahh thank you for giving my hunger games au a chance even though it is both a hunger games au and a wip!! i think having a lot written on tumblr really helps because it gives such a good outline of what the fic will become and what the story will be for both characters - putting it on ao3 is really just fleshing it out and making it sing as a written work

i think what i always struggle with when it comes to aus of other media is the instinct i have to make them 1:1 aus, which is what i call aus where i'm subbing my ship in for the characters of the media, i.e. putting anakin in for katniss and obi-wan in for peeta and pressing play.

at that point im like. why not just read the book if that's what i want to see, so that's something i like about this hunger games au because i'm just using the setting & the premise - anakin isn't meant to be a sub-in for katniss as the tribute and obi-wan isn't meant to be a sub in for peeta as the love interest or haymitch as the mentor and so i find writing it so much easier - i feel less constrained than i would if i was trying to make anakin feel like anakin skywalker from star wars, and also my own character for this fic and also katniss from this different media altogether

and yeah it's fun to make them fucked up and crazy about each other in new and different ways and so im so glad the first chapter has been posted and i can work on the second one now because damn that reaping is gonna be so fun

and, like how manatees were mistaken for mermaids, it makes sense as to how these horns would be mistaken for antlers. especially as they can form on the top of the head.

✨🎥! Forgot to say, I have a wedding in April but no dress/suit/clothes. I’m desperately looking but every single day I’m more disappointed in the quality of the fashion industry. Even the most basic thing is shit quality and cost 5 times what it should. So yeah, if anyone has recommendations on clothes (not necessarily for weddings or events, but in general) that are good quality, let me know

i know how you feel, affordable decent clothing is fucking impossible right now. honestly my best advice is thrifting/secondhand. idk what the situation for that is like in spain so maybe it's not possible, but it's always worth a shot, especially if you've already been looking for a while. it does obvs take more time than shopping new bc you have to sift through racks, but you're more likely to get a good find of better quality for a more reasonable price. my general thrifting advice (honestly this applies to any clothes shopping also) is first look for the colour and shape that you like, and then look at the material content. this is very important. do not look at brand that means nothing. always always always check the material content on the tags. ideally you want to be looking for garments that have 100% natural fibres; wool, cotton, silk, linen, rayon/viscose (yes it is natural despite the name). if you can't find 100% than something with an 80/20 ratio or more (to the natural side) can also be a safer bet, but my rule of thumb is the more polyester is in a garment, the worse it is in every way.

my general advice for wedding attire is unless you need black tie, don't worry about trying to find a full suit or a really fancy dress you're only gonna wear once. get a good pair of dark formal trousers (black/grey/navy), wear a dress shirt or a formal blouse, and throw on a nice tailored jacket that's in the same colour family. is it technically only semi-formal? yes, but who does true formal weddings and actually cares about sartorial rules. in this economy? psh. some visual aids:

it's a great combo for any 'events you have to look nice at' because you only have to buy individual pieces, you don't have to buy them all at the same time, and they can be reused for other events. just find out what the colour theme of the event is and get yourself a shirt or tie/pocket square/scarf/other accessory in that colour and you're good to go. also do not forget a good pair of shoes. this is also very important; always have a good pair of shoes.

hopefully this helps! i'm sorry i don't have better recommendations on where to actually go to buy stuff/what to buy, but i haven't shopped new in......quite a long time. but at least having some tips to go by should help. and tbh sometimes you do gotta cough up the money.....BUT only ever cough up the money for something that is 100% natural fibre and is a piece that will get use outside of a single event. otherwise you just gotta be patient and keep looking; if you are patient things have a way of coming to you.
