Here are my headcanons, under the cut. I dont have like a ton but here are my thoughts! : v : )/

Gods DO need to eat but - not really mortal food haha. They all do cause it’s fun and tasty but. The only required dietary needs of the Greek gods are nectar (special glowing liquid) and ambrosia (special glowing solid), it tastes better than anything you could ever imagine (sayeth Tory and Jesse, former mortals) and keeps gods healthy! if they dont eat this regularly they WILL become sick and weak! Sooo Mortal food is just fun optional bonus food but,,, it’s tastes fine, plus lots of people in the palace like to cook, plus its easier to feed lots of people with like, real food, plus having wide variety is fun…. They just mix ambrosia into everything they eat :) daemons like Epi and Ker also prefer eating 💞human flesh💞 (and anyone who hates to eat - well KER does not eat mortal food unless you mean food that is made out of mortals,,)

The Norse gods - are similar, though instead of nectar/ambrosia, the only crucial part of their god diet are the Apples of Idunn, which prevent illness too but also prevent aging! (The Greek gods don’t age past a certain point - norse gods CAN grow indefinitely old… IF.)

lmfao I think ambrosia is completely flavorless to Loki & any of the Norse gods. Loki imports an infinite supply of these from…. ?:) don’t worry about it:) and also has always taken care to make sure all his kids, Norse/Greek pantheon blended babies as they are, just in case are fed plenty of appy slices and applesauce as babies so—

primarily Loki loves to read, he’s got an extensive library in his bedroom, all sorts of literature from all sorts of realms and all sorts of ancient creepy spellbooks from every dark corner of the universe! Always withdrawn and cagey from everyone else lmao,while the rest of the palace is piled on top of each other on the couch platonically snuggling Loki’s often shut up in his bedroom with books until someone peels him out or the kids come to play with him — note Loki is withdrawn and cagey BUT NEVER EVER EVER WITH HIS CHILDREN and will ALWAYS bend over backwards to goof off and play with them :)

He likes doing little academia things like researching and note taking like upon first coming to Elysium first task at hand was an EXTENSIVE deep dive into the details of Greek mythology and mapping out the entire new pantheon of which he now found himself residing. Heeeee also likes writing and journaling and has kept infinite journals through basically his whole life - except for the few brief periods when he was out of his mind trying to take over a planet - those journals are all heavily encrypted, written in invisible runes, and will also explode if they’re opened for too long by anyone who’s not him. I don’t even think anyone KNOWS he keeps journals they are incredibly well hidden obviously

For the Villain Champion AU, all I’m saying is that every Trial Captain (not kahuna) is not an adult yet (i think the age range is 11-19). But they still have a duty to protect the island in the case of a threat.

I’m just sort of thinking about a growing unease about Hau. Not only over Guzzlord and how he acts about it, but about what they might have to do should things escalate. Because this is the champion, but he’s also a kid like them. This is a champion, but he’s also Hala’s grandson. This is a champion, but he’s also someone they know. He’s not a nameless threat as the ultra beasts were when they attacked. If it escalates, and Selene cannot stop him, what then?

They’re all so young.

And it shows how fucked up the League's system truly is. How they have no problems putting children in those positions. As Leaders, as Captains, as an Elite Four, as Champions. And for some godforsaken reason, they believe that those kids are capable enough to be in that rank. They're strong of course, but they're kids. Children. What do they know? Their problems shouldn't even be whether or not they're strong enough to really protect their region, their concerns should be abt their homework or what ice cream flavour they'd get or if their parents would let them sleep over a friend's house.

But here they are, giving concerned looks towards Hau.

And Hau was like them yknow. Got the thrill of being someone important get to him. But then Hau has Guzzlord with him. Guzzlord was a terrifying Ultra Beast capable of eating everything and anything in its path. And it.. it submits to his commands, it's close w him, it's like any other pkmn they've encountered. It was affectionate w Hau.

But it was still a dangerous Pokémon to have. And they were terrified. Hau would always say it's harmless, that it won't do anything bad. But... There's smth within his eyes, yknow, within Hau's eyes that terrified them. That he might be hiding more.

Hau was a kid like them. But, Hau wasn't just like them. He was a Champion. A young one at that, but he's still a powerful trainer. Stronger than any of them, even before getting Guzzlord.

If Hau ever attacks them, then Alola would have to live with the guilt of having the blood of children taint their region.

i saw you ask someone else this and i thought the question was really cutes. what are your oc's drink orders (coffee/tea or alcoholic) ?❤️

aja - prefers fruit juices to coffee/tea because she has a really dull sense of taste + doesnt really get anything frm the caffine, so she usually does like. tropical smothies (pinapple/mango/ect). for alcohol she prefers things straight and strong (because of her Only Halfway Aliveness and also her hugeness she needs. a lot of alcohol to get drunk 👍), although without those restrictions would probably be quite fond of fruity things, pina coladas and margaritas and the like. yknow, mom type drinks. would also probably enjoy boba tea for the textural aspect.

hutch - doesnt drink anymore, but was fond of a good whiskey or the mandatory Butch Beer, or whatever they could get their hands on. fond of simple at-home morning coffees with a little bit of cream and sugar, kind of intimidated by complex menus.

kasey - likez very complicated, sugary, and overall adorable drinks. anything pink with whipped creme. brings her own sprinkles and mini gummy bears with her just in case. often makes concoctions that seem awful to anyone else. when shes old enough to drink have you ever seen those tiktoks where the guy just unloads ridiculous amounts of alcohol into massive tubs. this guy. she makes things like this..like his candy ones too. but yknow..responsibly... mostly.

victor - doesnt drink often, but when he does its something very no-nonsense and straightforward, like, he is doing this with a Purpose and its not about flavor its about the most efficient way to lose consciousness. though casually he does enjoy a nice white wine. as for coffee, something chocolatey with a lot of espresso. like, more than is healthy or good for you. the shadowlands type behaviour.

arkangel - devoutly does not drink alcohol, never got into coffee. but i can picture her with a very classy martini.

nishka - cheap shit that tastes gross and is easier to get, something that screams "rebellious teens in the trunk of their friends car sitting in a field." md 20/20, fireball, hard lemonade, smirnoff ice, cheap shitty pre-mixed margaritas ect ect. you get the vibe. insists its good, actually, and better than more expensive shit. drinks black coffee to be cool and edgy, actually very much enjoys different floral teas.

luci - she is a robot

bucket - her heart belongs to the humble frappuccino and also a big fan of boba tea, likes to try all the different flavors and popping bobas

I might need some advice. So Ive got diagnosed scoliosis and hypermobility. Now Ive git some bandages(recommended by my rheumatologist) for some of my joints to help a bit with stability and go to physical therapy (weekly) and to an osteopath (approx. 1 a month). Now I get quite alot of pain in my legs and back when standing for a long time and I love comic cons and concerts. I havent gone to some for some time due to covid and now Ive been to one con again (only 1 day) and it was... rough. Fun, but rough.

Do you have any thoughts about what could be helpful? Or maybe your followers?

First up: General Pain Relief!

Heat:

Electric Blanket: 

I've never officially been diagnosed with hypermobility, buts it's likely I have it and the HSP just cancels it out. However, my brother has it in his back and shoulders, and, stubborn as he may be, the only pain relief he will use bar the occasional tablet is heat. Specifically his electric blanket just before he goes to bed. It warms the mattress and his back and alleviates the pain. Plus it builds up over time so it's not immediate heat all at once and acts on a large scale. Of course, electric blankets can sometimes be expensive, and obviously the energy crisis and lack of portability etc etc. But yknow, long term solution to work on pain in your down time. It’s brilliant for cold weather to, and they can be put on before you go to bed or go to sit down or whatever so that the object is warm before you rest. Can’t really be used outside of a home setting though. 

Heat Pack (microwaveable, snappable, etc.):

These can be a good, short term solution to pain and they are portable! Most of the time! They’re a good solution for concentrated pain and they tend last a little while. They do need to be reheated/replaced after a little bit though because they’ll cool down. But there are little ones you can carry around that snap a bit like glow sticks and fit in the palm of your hands. My mother has this microwaveable heat snake cushion thing that she swears by, especially for lower back pain and knee pain. There are different types so if this is something that interests you, maybe have a look into them. 

Hot Water Bottles:

Now the biggest problems with this option are they require the most work so far to use and can leak quite badly even when fastened. The tops can also be fiddly to use and I know sometimes they can burst. But for a cheap solution, and a portable one- they come in several sizes, with cases and they’re small enough to carry most of the time- they might be an option. Personally, I wouldn’t rely on these as the only option for pain? I mean they’re great! They do work shockingly well! But there are a lot of issues with them, and filling them up and/or carrying them can be incredibly dangerous especially if you’re having a bad pain day. But it’s still an option to potentially consider. 

Heat and Cooling Gels/Sprays/Creams:

Not ideal. Doesn’t always work. Can be dangerous and difficult to apply especially when alone. But they essentially work as a numbing agent and can be applied directly to the area of pain so long as it’s not a sensitive area i.e. the facial and genital areas. And again, they’re arguably the most portable solution so far so can be an alright solution to sudden pain on the go. The ones I use tend to be over the counter and though they don’t stop the pains in my shoulders and hips, they do help. Like honestly. Its a wonder. I wouldn’t use these alone, especially if the pain feels like it’s going to get worse/gradually becomes unmanageable, but for a bit of quick relief I’ve found them to be generally okay. ALWAYS CHECK ALLERGY ADVICE AND MAYBE CHECK WITH DOCTORS FIRST IF CONCERNED. 

Bedding:

Weighted Blanket*:

Listen. I swear by this. Honestly. I thought I wasn’t going to like it because I generally don’t like to sleep with heavy bedding but oh my god. Now I can’t sleep without it. It’s not completely effective but it’s damn good at what it does. And warm to! I mean, it’s never going to get rid of the pain oh but it does make it easier to manage. Am I being biased? Yes, absolutely. But it works. It does! It really helps cramp and back pain especially. I do love this option but it does have its downsides, unfortunately. They can be quite expensive sometimes so you might have to shop around a bit if considering buying one. They are also difficult to wash and, obviously, heavy so can be difficult to maneuver around. Sometimes lifting them, especially on a bad pain day, can cause more damage than they help. 

*(Also helps with general fatigue! So can be useful after a rough day!)

Pillows/Cushions:

Not incredibly effective sometimes but the right pillow can work wonders. Especially on the back and legs! It’s a quick method of pain relief when in the house, if there are pillows on hand, and can be relatively cheap. I think the biggest downside is that the effects will not last very long and it will probably have to be adjusted a good couple of times before finding a comfortable position. And obviously, the act of washing them and just the general availability and portability. They’re not really that great unless in the house, in a vehicle, wheelchair or in some kind of position where you’ll remain sedentary for a while.You can get medical cushions though! I think. Like ones specifically designed for certain pain types/areas, so maybe that’s something to bring up with a doctor or physiotherapist.

Medication:

Medicine: 

I know this isn’t everyone’s ideal option. It’s still not mine. In fact, at the time of writing this, I’ve only been on prescribed pain meds for a couple of months, and that was reluctantly. But they do work. They do. And they work quickly. They tend to be portable, especially in tablet or capsule form, and very discreet. If this an option for consideration, if not already prescribed, always, ALWAYS, talk to a medical professional beforehand.

Pain Relief on the Go:

So the above section is mainly dealing with pain at home after a rough day. I’ve got a couple of tips below for pain relief when out and about, like going to a con, for example! 

Regular Sitting Breaks: You said you get a lot of pain when standing and I understand that completely. I’m in the same boat. And I don’t want to sound patronising here so please note that I in no way mean for it come across like that if it does, but where possible you should always try to sit or find a place to sit. Always check the accessibility options for concerts, for example, and see if they could potentially arrange a space for to you to sit at safely so you could still enjoy the event. I know it’s a lot to ask but I genuinely feel like this should be a more available accessibility option. Maybe if you go to an event with someone, though rude as it may seem, see if they could keep a space in line for you if you need to sit down for a moment. Sit on the floor if needs to be. Whatever’s comfortable. And on that note:

Take a Companion: If possible. Someone you feel safe with. If they're comfortable with it and you're comfortable with it, they can provide some more stability (I.e. something to hold on to) when you're hurting, or may even be willing to run from point A to B for you for something if you need a moment or two to take a break. Also, a handy safety precaution in case you have also have a tendency to fall if you've been standing for a while.

Hydration: I know its not the same for everyone but I've found that I tend to hurt quicker/more if I'm not hydrated. Probably because I expend a lot more energy trying to move around than I should. So keep some water on hand where possible if you know you're going to be out for a longer period of time. If anything, it makes the pain a little bit more bearable.

Mobility Aids

I know this isn't everyone's favourite option so I've kind of saved it for last for that reason, but I feel like it's definitely something to consider. From personal experience, they really do work wonders and they've made my pain so much more bearable. But I know it's a big thing to consider regardless, what with expenses, maintenance, learning how to use them etc.

Still. I like this option, and if you would like to consider this, I have a similar post that goes into greater detail about mobility aid options here. It was updated fairly recently!

BUT

I do have an option here that may be of interest to you:

Seat Canes!

[ID: A collapsible stool cane, in the stool position. The cane is unfolded to be a small, round seat, with three feet at the bottom and a long handle at the back. The handle and legs are golden, the stool, feet and handle are black./end ID]

Someone brought this up on a post a while back and I don't think I ever followed it up with them unfortunately. But I looked it up, and they do seem like a good option! Expensive though. But a very decent option, and I always say shop around so its possible to find cheaper ones.

Here are some more options just to give another example.

I swear by my cane honestly, and I think the addition of a seat is a good option for someone who struggles with standing for longer periods of time so perhaps it's something to look into. Portable, collapsible, might take a while to get used to but seems to be quite durable honestly.

it frustrates me how some confuse SU’s message of “everyone has the capacity to change” as being the Exact Same as saying every victim in any interpersonal relationship has to forgive, no matter how imbalanced or abusive.

so let me make the distinction for you. 

there are relationships that end in the show. rose left the diamonds, lapis and jasper fell apart, greg ran away from his parents, sour cream did not reconnect with his biological father. i’ve yet to see any of these characters be forced to make it up, or told that it was invalid for them to leave. the show has never said that. steven has never said that.

if steven ever wanted to escape from someone and had to learn the lesson that he’s being a Meanie for doing so, that would be a valid take. that is something that a lot of media pushes. but in SU, that’s just not the case.

SU never said you have to forgive your abuser / mutually toxic partner / parental figure. it doesn’t want complacency. it thoroughly supports breaking toxic status quos. it’s just said that those people, even yourself (!!!), can become less toxic. even if you’re not responsible for changing others. that’s the distinction.

basically, even if nobody is obligated to forgive whoever hurt them, that doesn’t mean that the hurtful person in question has no chance to get better. 

the diamonds ruined their relationship with pink. they can never get her back. but even without her, they can still grow as people. that’s it. that’s the message.

it’s never conflated that with people being forced to stay in relationships they don’t want. the show is fully able to balance “there being hope for everyone” and “victims get to make their own choices regarding how they feel about the people who hurt them”. imagine that!

rose chose her found family. as did greg. as did peridot, who was never made to heal yellow diamond. as did lapis, who was never made to heal blue. the show is pretty consistent with this. characters realizing “i’ve screwed up with you, i’m gonna work on myself” is pretty common - as spinel puts it herself.

there are people who work on relationships with people who have hurt them - like steven - but that’s generally framed as his choice. and it’s a choice he’s often discouraged from. “no steven, let’s just bubble them”. “no steven, that’s dangerous”. “no steven, you can’t help them”.

so it’s no wonder that part of steven finding his voice is about “yes, actually. i can and will try to connect with people. you can’t stop me”.

because SU is pretty great at balancing this, none of this interferes with the message where the structural institutions and beliefs of society is the toxin, and the people who have been influenced by those societal norms are not “beyond saving”. heck, they compliment each other! you can reform people, and society as a whole, without pressuring individual victims to be there for their abusers. 

SU knows that - it just doesn’t let these individual connections be the end-all, be-all in whether society and the people within them can reform. that’s part of its brand of structuralism. people are shaped by overarching social systems, and those people can change regardless of an individualistic “does the victim forgive or not” lens. they can always work on themselves, and there is healing to be found in trying your best to grow and questioning social norms. 

i think that’s an important message. 

it’s yknow... good to tell toxic people that if they change, it’s not gonna depend on whether their victims are there to support them. they should never feel entitled to them. and if you want toxic attitudes to change on a societal level, you should never leave that responsibility to individuals.

sending those signals matters, even if you think you’ve never needed to change.

it’s just that the show isn’t so bland as to think the audience needs to be told, to their face, that “people have the capacity to change” isn’t the same thing as “you, personally, have to forgive them”. that’s not a mindblowing revelation. it’s something they just... show. rose wasn’t made to be the diamonds’ life coach. greg was never shamed for going his own way.

then again, the people who think SU says they “have to” forgive have never been subtle about not wanting anyone to be forgiving. even if it’s their choice.

you’re not mad at the show for “forcing you to forgive”. it doesn’t. you’re mad people are given the chance to heal at all. similarly, steven isn’t forced to forgive, that’s his choice. you’re mad he chooses to be himself.

🌘 Chapter 1 ( part one ) : The Lunaria Family

a/n : satoru is 21, sora is 13, and reina is 7. the first few chapters will be short as these will serve as fillers. they’re a must read though, to make her make sense yknow ;)

The sound of the rapid tapping of a young pink-eyed girl's foot echoed through the vast living room of the pristine and cozy looking home of the head-family of the Lunaria clan. Heavy sighs and annoyed grunts from a violet-eyed boy could also be heard, creating an almost symphony of impatient sounds. The two siblings shared an identical sharp look, eyebrows raised sassily.

"What the hell is taking them so long?" The boy crossed his arms, "It's not like they won't be seeing him later tonight."

The girl sighed in agreement, opening her mouth to respond, but was cut off by the sound of a sliding door opening with a bang. Both siblings turned to look at the source, seeing their older brother standing there in all his glory. Tall and dressed in his flamboyant blue kimono, the forehead protector that bears the Konoha symbol lazily hanging from his index finger, his large grin was prominent as his unearthly blue eyes locked in on his younger brother and sister.

"Yo!" He said brightly, hand raising up to a peace sign, "I'm back," he continued closing his eyes and nodding repeatedly.

The rather handsome young man walked to his sister, their parents trailing behind him with amused faces as the girl rolled her eyes at her older brother. "That lasted for way too long, I thought after-mission meetings are just for checking injuries and small talk and stuff," she crossed her arms. The young man just smiled and reached to ruffle her hair as their parents laughed, sitting themselves beside their second son. "I sure missed you too, Reina," Satoru rolled his eyes, the shit-eating grin still plastered across his face. Reina looked up at her brother with a playful glare, uttering shy 'I missed you', as her hands reached to fix her hair that he messed up.

Their mother Rio's fussing on the second son could be heard, making her avert her pink eyes from her eldest brother, both of them laughing at the sight of their normally calm and collected brother, flustered as their mother interrogated him about what he thinks of a certain girl named Uchiha Megumi, who is an undeniably pretty kunoichi that was his age.

Standing up with red cheeks, the boy dusted off imaginary dust from his dark purple—almost black—kimono and quickly walked over to his siblings, grumbling about how Megumi didn't even like him like that.

Everyone knew they were both just in denial.

"What's up big man, did'ya miss me?" Satoru reached up to ruffle his younger brother's hair as well.  A simple "Yo," was Sora's response, not even bothering to fix his hair back to its original state, leaving it stylishly messy.

"Where are you kids off to?" Their father Soichiro asked, lounging on the comfortable couch beside his wife who was reading the newspaper, seemingly over the Megumi-topic.

"Oh!" Reina clapped her hands, jumping excitedly, "Before he left, Satoru promised to take us to town after he gets home, and let us pick whatever we want! He said he'll pay for it with the money he got from his mission!" Satoru sweatdropped, catching sight of Sora's triumphant grin at their younger sister's chatter.

"Is that so?" Soichiro's eyes lightened up, "If that's the case, get me those custard buns from the usual place, will ya' Reina?" He said beaming at the thought of the cloud-like pastry. "But the maple cream ones are better though?" Reina raised her eyebrows, unconvinced. "Then make him buy those for you, sweetie. Just get me the custard ones." Soichiro argued back, slightly offended.

"Does mama want anything?" Sora butted in, looking over at her mother who put down the newspaper as she thought of what she wanted. "Don't I get a say in this?" Satoru mumbled, slightly sweating as he counted his money in his head, "It's my money afterall."

Satoru was ignored.

"Hmm, I was craving for one of those mooncakes we ate last week," the Lumeria family matriarch stated, thinking about said delicacy, "Young Shikamaru came by a few days ago with a bag, and it was quite delicious, I think I'll have that." Sora nodded, agreeing to what she said as he too was able to taste the treat their cousin Shikamaru brought.

"Yosh! Custard buns for papa, mooncakes for mama! Okay! Let's go!" Young Reina said, jumping up and running for the door where she put on her slippers. She struggled to do so, her pink and white kimono getting in the way, making Satoru walk over to help her before putting on his own platform slippers (imagine jiraiya's slippers but white) that clacked whenever he took a step. Sora waved to their parents, telling them they'd be 'back in a jiff' as he followed his siblings outside.

"How has academy life been treating you, Reina?" Satoru asked his little sister, holding her hand as the white haired trio walked to the clan compound gates, stopping once in a while to say hello the clansmen that greeted them, bowing back to the elderly as they passed, and initiating small talk with friends here and there. "Any boys that asked you to play with them while I was gone?"

"Hmm, well Shika always asks me to play with him and his friends, and his friends are all boys, so yeah!" she stated, her unoccupied hand reaching up to her chin in thought, "But I hung out mostly with Sakura," she added, grinning excitedly, thinking about her and her best friend's weekly adventures.

"Yeah, and I was stuck chaperoning them because they weren't content with playing on the playground like normal children," Sora joined in, rolling his eyes and lightly flicking his sister's ears, and smiling when she giggled in response. "But it's so much more fun inside the forest! And she made a treehouse! It's so cozy!" She pouted, rubbing her ear, "Yeah fine, whatever." Sora said, grabbing her other hand to hold.

As they reached the gate, Reina walked faster, pulling her brothers by their hands, practically dragging them as she ran.

"Someone's excited," Satoru teased, making sure to minimize his stride to match his little sister's steps. "Of course!" Reina grinned, "You're gonna pay!". Laughing along with his sister, Sora suddenly pulled her up to his shoulders, catching her by surprise. But she quickly recovered, realizing what was about to happen, she held onto his hands securely, her laughter increasing as she grew even more excited. Once they were stable, they turned to their older brother who was already looking annoyed at their antics, knowing exactly what they were gonna do. But Satoru wasn't able to hide the growing smile on his face.

"If we get there before you do, we'll shop at the pricier side of the markets!" Sora stated smugly, warming up his muscles with a grinning Reina perched on his shoulders. With that said, the younger boy ran as fast as he could, leaving dust on his wake, both his and his sister's laughter sounding more and more faded.

Satoru let them win, purposely slowing his own pace when they neared main street.  "Maybe you should rethink being a shinobi, nii-san," Sora stated matter-of-factly, "To think that a chunin who had weight on his shoulders beat you—a supposed special jounin—to a race." he smugly tsked shaking his head in mock disappointment, knowing full well his older brother went easy on them. "Tch," Satoru amusedly rolled his eyes, not bothered in the slightest.

After all, he had quite a full wallet.

big spoon/little spoon: Riku is the little spoon, unless it is the case where he is sleeping flat on his back and Roxas is laying face down on top of him. Riku just likes being held yknow?

favorite non-sexual activity: Sparring is high on the list, since they’re both naturally restless and have been fighting for too long to really relax normally.  When they aren’t expending their excess energy via beating each other with blunt force weaponry, Roxas has taken a shining to dragging Riku to the Twilight Town open theater to watch movies together.

who uses all the hot water: While Roxas takes his showers scalding, he’s also in there for 20 minutes at maximum. Riku is the one who takes long, albeit ICE COLD, showers.

most trivial thing they fight over: Arguments are inevitable. It’s almost in their nature to squabble. Currently the top cause of these squabbles is Riku’s tendency to put all else above his own well being, which while not trivial, is the only thing that really could qualify as causing them to FIGHT.

who does most of the cleaning: Roxas. Riku isn’t necessarily messy but Roxas is used to an almost militant sparseness to his surroundings and thus any clutter that is “out of place” needs to be tidied up or it’ll bug him. Actual chores are divvied up between them

what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: Neither of them really is huge on TV, and generally prefer the occasional movie, theatrical performance, or just reading a book. That being said, Olette DID get Roxas hooked on this ONE teledrama...

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: At first? Neither of them. They’d both make some effort to fix it, Riku likely coming closest to actually doing so. It’s sort of a contest to see who will swallow their pride first and cave.

who steals the blankets: Amazingly? Neither. Riku doesn’t like sleeping with blankets unless he absolutely HAS too, but neither Destiny Island nor Twilight Town get cold enough for that. Roxas just sort of sleeps like a deadman, so moving around enough to actively steal blankets isn’t something that happens.

who leaves their stuff around: Riku. His jacket over there, his boots over here. A water bottle in the bathroom, a hair brush in the kitchen. It’s been a while since he’s had a safe space to actually call his own and he’s resorted right back to all the bad habits of his younger self when it comes to house keeping. Whenever Roxas is over he almost auto-pilot starts to put things away as he comes across them.

who remembers to buy the milk: Neither. Remember what I said about bad childhood habits? Riku keeps putting the empty milk cartons back into the fridge and then gets frustrated when he tries to make a midnight bowl of cereal only to find it empty. Roxas at least throws the carton out but then forgets to go to the store.

who remembers anniversaries: Both of them. Roxas is INCREDIBLY date orientated and can probably tell you the exact date of most things just because he keeps track of it constantly in his head. Riku is just extremely sentimental like that.

who cooks normally?: They make efforts to do so together. Roxas never really had to cook and Riku’s method of cooking often involves freshly skinned kills and an open campfire. They’re BOTH learning how to navigate a kitchen.

how often do they fight?: Depends on what you define as a fight. They’ve both calmed down substantially but often have little spats with one another. These rarely ever turn into anything, though when they do... They’re EXPLOSIVE. Unfortunately for them both, Riku and Roxas are both capable of achieving a FRIGHTENING rage. They’ve both since learned to excuse themselves to go cool down, but sometimes this can take several days in Roxas’ case. It’s a good thing they’ve learned how to actively talk to each other about how they’re feeling.

what do they do when they’re away from each other?: With Roxas it could be ANYTHING. He’s a dog let out its cage. Who will he hang out with today? Axel? Xion? Namine? Kairi? Hayner? Pence? Olette? All three? Will he go challenge Seifer to a brawl? Will he spend the day helping Isa in the garden? Will he go head out to Departure for some training sessions with Aqua? Maybe go boarding with Ventus? Get some pointers from Terra? Riku is far simpler since he’s become QUITE the workaholic. You can usually find him in Radiant Garden, Departure, or Destiny Island unless he’s out on an active mission.

nicknames for each other?: Neither is quite the type to nickname each other but Riku will drop the occasional “babe” on Roxas.

who is more likely to pay for dinner?: It’s a back and forth thing. If either of them does do more than once, it could start a squabble. Unspoken rules. Unless it’s an actual date, in which case the rule is put aside depending on who is taking who out at the time.

who steals the covers at night?: Neither. Unless it’s ACTUALLY cold. In which case, Riku. Though his version of cold is perhaps... Debatable.

what would they get each other for gifts?:  Roxas tends to pick up anything that makes him think of Riku. Which could be anything from a shiny rock to a bottle of lotion to a necklace. He’s not shy in giving gifts. Riku on the other hands tries to get things that he knows Roxas will like or otherwise needed. So far the best gift (according to Roxas at least) has been the at-home ice cream machine. It gets a center stage spot in the kitchen.

who kissed who first?: Amazingly it was Riku. He still asked though. Was fully expecting an angry “No” too. They both caught each other off guard <3

who made the first move?: It’s honestly hard to tell. Somewhere along their efforts of trying to bury the hatchet and become friends they kind of realized that they’re rather similar people who share a great number of philosophies and views. And those that they don’t, they tend to find interesting in the other. They both sort of danced around each other at first since they both figured there was no WAY they could possibly be anything more than very tentative friends at best. It wasn’t until Riku came out and asked Roxas if he could kiss him (and Roxas saying yes) that they both FINALLY realized it was a mutual thing. Even then, it took a while for them to figure out what exactly they wanted to be.

who remembers things?: Roxas. Always, Roxas. It’s not that Riku has a bad memory, it’s simply that Roxas’ is superhuman.

who started the relationship?: The actual relationship itself was started by Roxas. Both in terms of platonicism and romanticism. Riku carries a lot on his back about how he and Roxas first met and has been very adamant about letting Roxas set the pace for things. Which honestly suits Roxas just fine, since he rather enjoys being able to have some control over situations.

who cusses more?: Roxas, by a small margin. Neither of them curses EXCESSIVELY but Roxas was “raised” in a castle full of adults and let’s be real, he learned about HALF of those curse words from Axel and the other half from Xigbar. Riku isn’t shy to cuss but it’s usually not dropped so casually. If you hear him say “Oh fuck” you might want to start running the other direction.

what would they do if the other one was hurt?: It’s perhaps not... The HEALTHIEST mindset, but they both have a thing about the other getting hurt. It’s a sort of strange pattern where it’s FINE if they hurt EACH OTHER but not if anyone else does. In their head, it’s justified by the logic that they know each other’s limits. They’d never actually hurt each other to the point of it being debilitating because they know each other and themselves well enough. That being said, they can both get a little wrathful and helicopter-y when the other suffers an injury that can’t just be curaga’d away. Roxas more so wrathful and Riku more so helicopter-y.

When you had asked Clint to go on vacation with you, this is not what you had in mind. Yes, you both planned to go on a trip to the Bora Bora Islands, but you guys did not plan on the rest of the team to join you guys. Clint was mad when he found out the team would be joining you guys but you were able to calm him down before he yelled at the team. Both of you were used to always being alone on vacations, especially since you guys would go at it like rabbits all over the hotel room and there was no one to interrupt you guys.

But now, you guys had to remain in control of both of your guys’ lust. It was easy for you, but Clint on the other hand was a whole different case. It took time for him to get used to it, but eventually he got around to it. Anyways, you and the team decided to go for a swim. It wasn’t everyday you got a break. Being an Avenger was hard work. You were a skilled combatant, great at flexibility and a master of different weapons. When you guys got to the beach, Steve, Tony and Sam instantly jumped into the water.

Meanwhile, you, Clint, Natasha and Scott started a volleyball game. You and Clint versus the two redheads. Hulk and Thor where on referee and cheerleading duty. “Oh come on Barton! No fair!” Scott exclaimed as he failed to hit the ball since Clint would always make it unreachable for him. Clint simply just laughed at him. “Calm down Hawkeye, let the man hit it.” You said while trying to hold in your laughter. You couldn’t lie, it was pretty funny to watch.

You turned around and looked at Natasha who was also trying to hold in a laugh as Scott fell on the sand. “Don’t give up, Man of Ants! I believe in you!” Exclaimed Thor, trying his best to cheer on Scott. This kept going on until eventually Nat got annoyed. “Alright boys, if you guys are done, me and (y/n) would actually like to play.” Natasha said with a hint of annoyance in her voice. Eventually, both of the teams ended up in a tie. The sun was going down, so you and Clint decided to have some alone time and take a walk.

Clint wondered how he got so lucky. When you guys met, both of you actually hated each other. You despised his cocky attitude and he hated that you were so nice and forgiving since he didn’t believe that was who you truly were. When you guys were forced to team up to take down Red Skull, you confided in him and told him why you really joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, which made him open up to you about the circus. That was the first step in your guys’ relationship. When you guys confessed your feelings for each other, it was actually in a end of the world situation.

The fight against Thanos was starting to overwhelm all of you. You had various cuts on your body and cheek and a few tears in your suit. Clint stayed near you, making sure you were safe from the Titan’s wrath. You started to run out of ammo so you decided to just take down Thanos with your flexibility and skills all alone. As you started to reach him, he was able to grab a hold of you and started to choke you. You felt your air starting to run out and scratched at his arm with no use.

Next thing you know, your dropped onto the floor of the moon as Clint starts throwing punches at the Mad Titan. Thanos simply laughed and grabbed both of you, throwing you guys towards the watchers tower. You landed on Clint and just stayed there. Then, Clint starts talking to you. “Listen, (y/n), I’m being serious about this okay? This isn’t a game. I just wanted to tell you, that in case we don’t make it, um… ahhh… fuck it. I’m in love with you, (y/n) (l/n).” He told you, looking anywhere but your eyes. You simply responded by kissing him, finally hearing the words from him you wanted to hear for so long. He was surprised, but returned the kiss with more force. Eventually, you guys were able to bring down Thanos with the help of the Guardians of The Galaxy.

That brings you guys to the present. 4 years into your relationship, and things have only gotten better. Both of you share a room in the tower and are always together. Wherever you are, Clint is most definitely there with you also. Clint snapped out of his mind and stopped suddenly. You walked for a few more seconds until you realized he wasn’t following you. “Clint, honey, are you okay?” You asked with concern in your voice. Oh, how Clint loved the nicknames you gave him. You were the only one who was allowed to give him nicknames.

“Yeah, I was just thinking about the old times. Like when we met and stuff.” He said with a smile on his face. You smiled back and he swore he melted faster than ice cream. Your smile always radiated a certain type of happy. You turned to look at the sun setting and he immediately started sweating. He put his hand in his pocket, making sure the box was safe. He wanted to propose to you for a while, but he wasn’t sure if you would agree or not. ‘It’s now or never Barton, don’t be a chicken.’ He repeated in his head.

“Look Clint! The stars are about to show!” You exclaimed with such enthusiasm. You turned around and gasped, seeing as Clint was on one knee in the sand. “Listen, (y/n). I’m not good at speeches like Steve, but I’m going to try my best here. Basically, to put it short, I’m in love with you. I always have been. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You accepted me for who I was, even though you knew I was in the circus of crime. You didn’t judge me on my past, but on who I was now. I know I mess up sometimes, but your always there for me and help me back up. So, what do you say (y/n)? Want to become Mr. Barton with me? It’s totally okay if you say no I mean, I won’t be mad if y-“ You cut off his rambling by culling his cheeks.

“Clinton Francis Barton, how could I say no to you?” You said and leaned down to kiss him, your fingers entangling in his blonde hair. He relaxed into the kiss and synced both of your lips. Eventually both of you pulled back and he put the silver ring on your finger. It was simple, yet to you it was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. “I was on a budget. Sorry I couldn’t get you a ring you deserve.” Clint said sheepishly, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. You simply smiled and said, “Anything you give me is beautiful Clint.”

He stood up and dusted himself off and wrapped his arm around your shoulder and walked both of you towards the rest of the team. “When we have our first kid, I’m definitely teaching them how to shoot an arrow.” Clint said confidently. You simply chuckled. “Careful Clint, or they’ll end up shooting you in the leg.” You said while trying to hold in your laughter. Clint instantly had a shock look to his face. “Yknow what? Maybe I won’t teach them how to shoot after all.” He said looking spooked. You simply just laughed while walking back.

You ended up getting a text from Natasha telling you guys they were in Stark’s room. When you guys walked in, it was utter chaos. They decided to have a fun idea to play Uno. Right now, Nat was in the lead with two cards left followed up my Sam with three cards. Steve was still trying to figure out how to play and Thor and Tony ended up getting ganged up on with +4’s. Hulk meanwhile was watching the tv paying no attention to the others. You both decided to play the notice game and cuddled up to each other on a chair. You kept guessing who would be the first to notice the ring. Eventually, as always, it was Tony who noticed.

“Where did that ring come from?!”

My Cheap & Relatively Healthy Grocery List for College Students

Context: I had been used to eating fast food so much because it was cheap that when I went to the doctors' they said I had high glucose content. That wasnt good. So I started eating healthier. Anyway let's skip the BS and get straight into it:

Ramen: the OG cheap food. I personally don't own ramen bc I dont like it that much, but if you want to save money this is the meal, at least add an egg or some veggies to make it healthier.

Frozen Veggies: anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar or two a bag. Can easily be kept in your freezer (if you have one) for months

Mac n' cheese: my all-time favorite. Of course, it might not be healthy for everyone to eat pasta all the time, but I do it anyway. Add some real cheese and spices for taste or chicken and veggies in it / on the side.

Other Pasta boxes (Pasta Roni, Velveeta, Hamburger Helper, etc.): basically as cheap or almost as cheap as Kraft macaroni, but maybe you arent a fan of mac n cheese.

Soup (Soup!!): Cambell's Tomato soup is often $1 a can. I like to eat mine with grilled cheese. Thats a whole ass meal. But of course you can get other soups just as cheap. Basically, any canned foods.

Canned foods & veggies: this one goes without saying. Although, the better options are sometimes $2 to $3 the same can be said for frozen veggies, but just heat these up and cook them in fried rice or just add butter and eat them aside a nice entré

Chunk light tuna: speaking of canned foods, canned tuna is soooo cheap and is a great option (if you even like tuna). Dont actually get the "pack tuna" for $1 a pack unless you want to keep it in your bag bc canned tuna is around 60 cents a can. Mix it with Miracle Whip (or mayo) and spread it over break for a good sammich.

Grilled cheese (or cheese toastie if you arent American I think??): similar to previous options, youre getting your cheese and your butter and your bread. Not as healthy as other options but way better than fast food calories.

Quesadillas: similar to grilled cheese, except spICY. My brother only eats these and he has no meal plan. I do it now too. Honestly, adding up tortillas, cheese dip, shredded cheese, & chicken is kind of costly but worth it. Also cooking chicken is annoying bc I dont have time for that. But. Yknow. A great option.

Pillsbury Crescents: a little costly, about $2+ per tube, but still fookin delicious. Also imma be real: actually havent checked the nutrition label to see if these are actually healthy. But these are sO useful. Make them by themselves for breakfast (with jam, eggs, or alone) or use the dough for other recipes. I use these with Manwich sauce, cheese, and ground beef for snacks :)

Manwiches: manwich sauce cans are $1 and although they have some sugar, its not nearly as bad as fast food. Just cook up some ground beef to go with it & maybe add cheese, sliced bread, or hamburger buns

PB&J: Another OG. I could never get tired of these. You just gotta make sure you have soft bread and the pb&j and youre good to go. Although..like.. some people apparently like theirs toasted or with different jams (I like strawberry).

Eggs!!!! : Just keep these in your fridge. Just do it. You never know when youre going to run out of food. Boiled? Scrambled? Fried? Soft boiled? With ramen? Omelet? In fried rice? Egg sandwich??? Eat them with bread, eat them with toast, eat them as a breakfast sandwich, scramble them with cheese, the list goes on. If you dont eat them often, get a smaller carton, but always have eggs! Also, for baking.

Rice, or fried rice: If you like rice, have been cooking rice for a long time, and can actually make it without burning, make sure you have rice. If you like rice but have never actually made it yourself, it takes trial and error in a pot. Or just invest in a rice cooker. Additionally, fried rice is not that difficult to learn & it fits the bill for healthy bc you can add unlimited veggies and meats. Im not here to educated you but the more ingredients, the better, is how i see it.

Fresh Food:

Fruit: I literally have "an apple a day" for breakfast. It's just good for you. Keep them in your fridge to keep them fresh. Keep one in your bag in case you get hungry. Bananas? Awesome! Use them in smoothies or a milkshake or eat them with your cereal or even with peanut butter. Possibilities are endless with fruit. Just make sure they dont spoil. Apples are OG bc they dont spoil as easily.

Vegetables: Make sure to only periodically get them so that they dont go to waste. Make some broccoli with butter & eat it alongside pasta. Or asparagus. Anything you want. Just make sure to have some with your meals sometimes. Greens are good. Additionally, carrots can get addicting if yoh eat them with ranch. The plus side is they are filling. If you have a tendency to want to munch on something: carrots.

Deli Meat / Sandwich Options: I personally dont make deli sandwiches because ham (as well as roast beef or turkey) can be expensive and then wanting to add lettuce and tomato to a sandwich sounds amazing but I'm scared they will spoil. Dont let me stop you though! Sandwiches are amazing.

Meat: you dont want to be cooking meat all the time bc it can get expensive, but the basics I always get are ground beef and chicken. I prefer "boneless skinless chicken thigh fillets" but you would need to cut off the fat. You could always get rotisserie if you arent feeling to for cooking. Also, if you're feeling expensive one week, salmon is just sooo good. I ate it with asparagus and seasoned with lemon. Delicious.

Snack / Dessert Options:

(I personally don't keep snacks or dessert in my home very often bc you dont want to binge eat. But here is what I have)

Peanut butter: classic, filling, can be potentially bad if you eat a shite ton

Nuts: peanuts, almonds, cashews, and especially pecans

Cookies: make your own, a lot of simple cookie recipes exist and it's a lot easier than you think. Baking essentials like flour, sugar, milk, and eggs are not that expensive to keep around in an apartment kitchen. Difficulties may be vanilla extract (the avg student doesnt have this lying around) a baking sheet, a big bowl, and possible a whisk. Store bought cookie dough isnt too bad either.

Box-cakes / box-brownies: simple and easy. Takes a few eggs sometimes and some oil, milk or water. The same goes for pancake mix. Honestly, I had an out-of-country roommate and he had never heard of boxed cake mix or brownie mix. They always made from scratch where he lived.

Low-calorie ice cream: okay ice cream can be pretty expensive and filled w/ added sugars. I used to eat this strawberry icecream sweetened with stevia and it was SO delicious, but I couldnt find that at my grocery store. Other options are "low-calorie" ice cream or "no added sugars" ice cream. I have one of these and the thing abt it is that its just the right amount of sugar to taste like ice cream and the neat thing is that you dont feel like binging it bc it doesnt have addicting added sugars.

Milkshakes / smoothies: this is a tough one bc me and most other students dont own a blender or juicer. I personally get my smoothies from a local smoothie place that only uses fresh fruit and then I ask not to add the natural sugars bc it is sweet enough with the fruit. Natural smoothies are delicious & I find that you can kind of make then if u freeze your fruits and blend w a fork. "Handmade" milkshakes are actually super easy w this method.

Yogurt: just...mmm.

"Healthy" snack food section, often called the gluten-free aisle: im not too experienced with this and im sure they have added sugars too but what I do know is I tried these gluten free oreos once and they were delicious

Fruits: I mentioned earlier but apples are great snacks

Veggies: also like I said earlier, carrots are great snacks. Not exactly a veggie but possibly potatoes for a meal or snack.

Granola Bars: for when youre too lazy to keep up with fruit and if fruit will spoil, granola bars (they healthy kind, not the chewy sugary kind) are so good to have in your pantry or keep in your backpack for a snack (and to keep you from on campus temptations). Also I used Nature Valley ones instead of cereal. They actually dissolve and are delicious with milk, since some cereals are so sugary.

Since my last college tips post got some notes I figured I'd keep writing these advice posts. For reference, I am hoping to become an RA next year at my college, so I'm not just speaking out of my ass. I generally have experience at college thus far and want to help students.

looks like bnd2 is being released under island, which means this is likely island’s send-off for them; seems unlikely that they’ll be renewing their contract under island, the way they keep talking about being label-less lol

remember that the first hiatus occurred because the boys all felt suffocated and like they couldn’t get any of their other creative juices out. meanwhile, one of andy’s other bands SECT just released a new surprise album (big recommend if you’re into hardcore and metal stuff; it’s very high-energy) and is also touring this fall to celebrate its release. The Damned Things are also lined up to do some more concerts this fall/winter, along with festival appearances. patrick just scored some movies and pete has an ice cream truck.

basically, it looks like they didn’t want to rush something that wouldn’t be finished in time for this (lbr they learned from having to push back mania) especially because everyone’s been busy with their other creative outlets. and honestly, good! that makes sense to me - i’m not sure i’d want to release a shitton of new material in a tour that’s already as full as this one, yknow

I had a Funky Dream and I got a Concept from it that I have No Idea what I'm gonna do with just yet but I wanna keep it anyway

I call it the Corridor

The Corridor is an Anomalous Space or whatever, idk how to say it without making it sound like a shitty SCP concept which it is Not considering I Dreamed this

The Corridor makes No Fuckin Sense and that’s mostly its deal. It seems to have some level of sentience which could rely in great part on a binary system to Understand Things and I'll explain why in a bit

I call it the Corridor bc while idk if it has any ulterior motives, its purpose seems to solely be to take you from one place to another, even if in Interesting Ways. It achieves this by placing itself between you and your destination and also looking inconspicuous enough that you don’t even Consider not going through it. I’m p sure any door you open could lead to the Corridor instead of where it usually leads, the Corridor exists everywhere and nowhere simultaneously

Okay, the reason the Corridor stuck with me? Bc I witnessed/experienced three instances of ppl going through it (the third one I was actually a part of, the other two I was an observer) and despite it being a Dream, it was shockingly consistent?? Not 100% ofc, but the Corridor has Rules which was made clear to me the first time I watched ppl go through it. These Rules stayed consistent throughout the dream (and sometimes new, also consistent ones were added) and I even tested them. And the Corridor even tries to teach you them in its own, weird as fuck ways

At first glance the Corridor might even look normal if you disregard the fact that the first time I saw ppl go through it they were trying to get to a swimming pool bc the Corridor shows up anywhere it damn wants. The only thing that stands out about it at first is that it looks like it was blueprinted by a drunk iguana

It is not actually a Corridor but yknow. Cool Names. It’s especially fond of having long corridors (hah!), especially especially if they have at least one corner so that you can’t see the end, as well as tiny, tiny rooms that wouldn’t be big enough even for a pantry, and weird lil landing areas where multiple corridors from multiple angles meet/start. It has no windows, beige floor carpet everywhere (as far as I can recall) and light yellow/cream walls with white trimmings and these like. Slightly sunken areas on the wall that repeat periodically?? kinda window-esque??? trying to borrow from baroque while also v typically being a middle class city home thing??? All corridors and rooms have doors leading to them, which are also cream/white coloured and match the style of the walls. Also they have handles, not knobs, bc I'm European. Regular rooms are rare (I only saw a few when I was in the Corridor myself) and from what I've seen, tend to have a clear way right through against the wall, and that + how entirely clean and organised it all is makes it feel more like an IKEA display

Anyway, the Corridor’s deal?

No doors lead where you’d expect. The rooms on either side don’t line up in a way that spatially makes sense – you can have a lil landing area on one side and on the other a corridor that, by all means, should be running right through that landing area, you See it curving there when you look through the door, but there is Nothing. You could open the door to what seems like barely big enough space to step into and find a whole ballroom on the other side

Also, if you let a door close behind you, it most likely won’t open to the same room again from either side

The Very Consistent Rule? If you want something, and ask for it twice (or as later turned out, any even number of times), You Will Have It. It originally was just literal physical objects and whatnot I saw it happen with, but later it turned out it also works for like. Wanting Things To Happen, tho it v much works on tricky fae rules (I went “I want this person to not get lost travelling with us” twice when I was in the Corridor and instead of sticking to the group, that person couldn’t leave the room we found them in bc I mean, it’s not like you can get lost if you don’t go anywhere! I amended the request after that and it was fine)

It’s one of the reasons I feel like the Corridor functions on a binary system – the first request starts the Process, and repeating it confirms it/sets it to a “1”. Saying it three times without stopping/leaving a long enough break resets the Process again. (Other pointers to binary I connected awake, like how doors have two states, open and closed, and that the consciousness of the Corridor might just rely on “there’s either someone in this room/viewing this room or there isn’t”)

If you’re in there with someone else and lose them, you can also ask to have them back the same way you can ask for an item and then it’ll Be There the next time you look at the ground (which also works for food btw, the Corridor isn’t trying to kill you, you just have to understand its logic enough and you’ll be fine). If you lose your friend, you can demand to find them again (or even just scream their name while v scared) and the next time you or they open the door, you’ll find each other again

Which is also the Weird Fuckin Way the Corridor tries to teach you its rules, by separating you from whoever you’re with. Also maybe it thinks it’s fun, fuck if I know. But like. You have to hold tight onto someone to not lose them in the Corridor, bc doors can slam shut with only one person on the other side and the Corridor is Really good at acting inconspicuous. It Will convince you that it’s safe to let go of you friend’s hand for just a second or check out that tiny-looking room all on your own, you’ll be right back!

(And I mean. It’s not like you’ll get Hurt. You just have to find your way back to them)

The first two instances I watched happen were Joseph and Caesar trying to make it through and then also finding Suzi on the way and they lost each other a Lot Easier than you’d expect, sometimes even with all three of them getting separated and they got Really Scared by it. They made it out okay ofc but it was an Experience

Oh, and if you find someone In The Corridor who you didn’t enter with? Better make sure they’re the real deal. Just in case. I met my mother in the first room of the Corridor but then could see Another one of her when I stood in a way that I could see into that room + one farther down a corridor at once. When I properly requested for only my real mother to be there with me, the one in the far room wasn’t there anymore when I looked the next time, while the one I’d met initially remained

Also I don’t have a lot of experience in Entering the Corridor but I feel like. You don’t Have to go in?? Or if you go in and no door has closed behind you yet, you can walk back out. The Corridor won’t be offended. But as soon as a door closes behind you, it won’t open to where you started anymore, and there’s no way other than forward

strawberry shortcake s2 ep1 - horse of a different color

this one was suggested by someone who couldnt keep their mouth shut and not sing the strawberry shortcake intro theme in the middle of our economy class

no one wanted to hear that, but they  went ahead and then i actually followed up on that train of thoughts i remembered about the fucking cartoons and i knew it pronto: its a must-see shit its like slightly above the level of magical school bus series, but the final rating is for the fin not the beginning so lets begin this horseshit:

were reviewing “horse of a different color”, it focuses indeed on strawberrys horse, honey pie pony (its her entire damn name, how sweet right? like all of them, i got diabete from this review but its the cost of maintaining this blog anyway, the kids are playing together on a that tree having fun jumping around like chimpanzees hooba hooba but sadly our filly quickly realizes she cant play king kong with them and keep falling on her ass,

yet since theyre all retarded or young (id say its a fifty-fifty case for them kinda normal ig, i mean they ARE literal 6yo) they try several ways of getting her up on that tree, not thinking how to get her down if they ever were to succeed (good for them: aint happening) its child labor too btw, from an horse still same deal what if honey pie fell down on them? crushing them corpses with her mighty pounds? the findus company would be delighted to hear such news, im sure its some quality (sweet ass) horse meat

once it all fails she understands a horse isnt meant to climb a tree, too big too fat its four legged, not even entertaining the relationship giraffes have with trees

but it aint over, then (after a talk with herself) hp hears the laughters of a bunch of kids which catches her attention, it always does who can ignore that sorta noise? although she aint annoyed by it shes just into the idea of riding a bike now, shes even gonna get a go at it oh yea thats it we finally found her human hobby gogdamn shes a backward furry

of course it fails aswell since she has no hand for the handle and shes heavy so i guess its the reason why she rides into w/e and cant stop? because otherwise she couldve also just.. actually it makes no sense does it? i mean she couldve easily stopped the ride actually how is that kid bike even holding her? ive never tried putting a pony on a bike for 6 y/o but i doubt about its capacity in not being crushed aswell as i doubt in the kids bones not being severely damaged after a visit under honey pies horsy buttcheeks

but all of that really makes her sad: she cant play with her human friends and shes the only horse around strawberry land or whatever see me tearing it for her, theres so much emotions in this episode especially after that filly trynna get kids to get into some horseplay horseshit like dude theyre only 6, lets go easy on them, might have a problem with the parents of the kids watching this episode no one even thought how fucked up this one part is? sure horseplay isnt only sexual or w/e but it still is the visual of 6yos on all four jumping around and neighing together with their ass a little bit too exposed wow im going on a dangerous road here? aint i? not gonna sue the writers im sure it was their subconscious speaking probably got issues from their childhood, eventually got them sorted out since 2004 what do i know? aside from me not caring

back on track : after seeing horsey being so sad the kiddos decide to get her a horse friend but where the fuck? they got no idea, they are proud nonetheless and go tell honey the good new until they are like “wait but we have no idea where to find horses!” ofc we get a big reveal, some serious strawberry shortcake lore: actually all the horses, ALL OF THEM FROM THE ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET are on one (1) single island: ice cream themed to diversify it all they are just chilling over there in ponyland and for some reason this one here got lost or idk guys she took the boat and checked the rest of the world out as an even younger filly, found strawberry and her friends and decided now she was a centaur  slash humanrry furry human, idk you get it but shes their friend and so on to introduce the concept of an AWESOME island full of equestrian activity and ofc ice cream but its kinda lame because who cares? everythings already made out of food, also why isnt the ice cream melting? its one water? nevermind for the introduction as i was saying, hp sings an horrendous sounding song it deteriorated my ear drums they got pierced or something  or maybe im exagerrating? either case horses cant sing:

so to the ice cream land they go, huh

of course it wouldnt be a big adventure without an almost broken bridge oh no whatever shall we do? could we possibly cross it safely? lets try it out  guys: yay it worked good for us little stress and suspense it was wack how they got honey pie out of the hole her big ass hoove made im mesmerized by the power of friendship and sugar at this point, just in full awe for the rest of the episode probably over dosed on all the ice cream flavoured horseshit, i got some all over my mouth its dripping on my desk i gotta clean that later

next thing we know: horses its all this episode is about (aside from labor) but you see, so far hp would switch between normal human language and neighing well turns out her other fellow equines can only neigh and so they just neigh together while our english well-spoken mammal translates to the moronic kids who just smile smuggly

of course the animals are having a welcome party then, dancing around while the morons are just bored, harsh one being a cartoon character isnt it guys? w/e theyre gonna ask for honey pie to come back home now, convinced that her natural habit isnt her place and she loves them too much to just leave them and never come back and break any plans they ever had together- oh shit looks like shes leaving forever huh? what a plot twist mark that on the bitch quota for today

the first one to leave is the little boy btw, important thing to note: hes the biggest pussy he cant even face reality: oh no, no more pony back time before sleep thats quite a bummer, downer and man how are they going to survive now they got no animal to watch over them? jesus theyre soon, on the boat (idk where they got it from idk why suddenly theyre on a boat because then theyre once again gonna cross that bridge but ok) anyway yea theyre having a relationship crisis during that ship trip yada yada ah and the bridge, because (see i do not call them morons for now reasons obviously they deserve this title not only because theyre 6 but also because they are just daft:) they proceed, once in the middle of the bridge all 4 of them, to stop and wonder

“will the bridge be able to hold all of us? wont it break? damn i wonder if it will crack” and they talks without moving until vlam: a tree comes and breaks it (dont ask) so now theyre in trouble:

back to ponyland: bitch pie realizes how much she misses her actual friends and that she can speak english which her other horse friends cant do so she is special and probably abnormal, shes a big outcat of the pony society and has no other reason but to escape her incoming death sentence for fraternizing with the humans of course none of the second part is true, she just wants to see the kids again so she says asta la vista baby to the neigher team and runs away see, she hasnt taken the boat and yet also arrive to the bridge? why a boat sequence then? i will skip this for now but it WILL play in the rating, imagine im the parent of the youngster watching this crap and i have to endure it

if it sucks this bad and is this illogical i might just get bored and change the channel, idc my progeny aint gonna be watching this in either case, ill make them watch political debates then interrogate them on what they learned after what but it wasnt actual political debates just random furry youtuber venting with their fursona sprites animated and thats how you make your kids retarded, the kick of this joke is that i aint planning on getting any kids but totally gonna make them watch classics too such as the attack of the killer donuts as soon as they reach 6 so they wont be dumb and probably not getting diabete or w/e in their adulthood

then honey pie saves the kids btw all of them, heavy shit

and they all go back to strawberryland, happily after a big “wow i missed you sm, you are my real friends w/e if you dont look like me i aint speciest guys really!” theyre all vegan too btw so this works for them i havent watched enough strawberry shortcake episodes to know if they ever eat meat but i have doubts seeing how theyre into a very cannibalistic diet which include eating dessert when obviously thats what they are at least half part, this cartoon raises a lot of political questions it may have a deeper value than i first attributed to it

the end: another terrible song plays about horseshit and how tasty it is

so the rating: big 6/10, so you know 5/10 if its a decent kid show where im highly eager to click on the x and get back making jams but nah

surprisingly enough, i only wanted to stop watching half of the episode and not the entirity of it so credits for thats since im an adult and not a kid, imagining kids enjoyed this sweet childish cartooness or w/e now why +1? its because of how many political questions it raised, how it made me think about our society and cakes yknow its more than kids having a conflict with an horse it talks about veganism, specism, handicap, cannibalism, the management of the limited ressources were exploiting and so on yea really makes you think, its subliminal messages to make kids smarter: they watch their dessert-imbecile counterparts doing bs and then get it right irl: good  ah- it also makes it better for you when youre watching this with your kid, you suddenly transcend to another level of spirituality, existential crisis activated or at least reasoning mode or w/e youre willing to name this the point is you arent bored still despite all of this i rated it quite low for such a serious kid cartoon what couldve possibly made me tic? 1) kids are morons and cant understand all of this, not clear enough for the targeted public 2) projection onto the characters/dialogues from the writers of their childhood traumas (the horse play event didnt go unnoticed, karren brown) 3) my little pony ripoff 4) its controversial, our society, especially in 2004 couldnt understand the depth of this shit and finally 5) i got so much ice cream flavoured horseshit all over my desk god help me this is so filthy what a fucking mess i would totally recommand it to anyone who feels like being blown away by the statements made in this work of art 6/10 but really we all know in the future, itll be a 9/10, some ahead-of-its-time-crap

i know a pretty common theory about how klaus could drive the ice cream truck - despite saying in episode one that he can’t drive - is that he learned to drive in vietnam but like.. when he’s asking diego for a ride in episode five he brings up again that he can’t drive. 

so i wonder if he did learn to drive in nam but was just in too bad a shape emotionally to even consider doing it?? or maybe he didn’t want to be questioned on how he suddenly knows how to drive?? or maybe it was just because he doesn’t have access to a car that isn’t diego’s?? or maybe he’s just so used to telling people he cant drive that he just.. sticks with it. idk! but on the flipside - maybe he really still has no fucking idea how to drive and the only reason he drives the ice cream truck is bc its an emergency. either he figures out how to drive it on his own, bc he’s not stupid, or maybe diego helps from the passenger side like yknow.. talking klaus through starting off and how to stay in his lane and not crash. the important stuff. 

btw i know this is like.. such a minor fucking detail really but the ice cream truck is a p stand out thing that happened and it does conflict with things we already knew so my brain has Questions and there’s a lot of possibilities and.. idk. i think talking about even the little stuff is interesting when it comes to tua - especially klaus. in depth analysis babey

semi related:: klaus was drinking in that episode but he wasn’t high at all so could he see other ghosts?? if so there were probably a lot of them on the roads, which would make driving rough (there was that hc once that he doesnt drive bc he cant tell whose really on the road, alive, and whose not) but in that case i think ben would do his best to let klaus know who he actually had to avoid and who he could drive thru (as rude as that sounds) 

but.. only ben. the rest of the fam?? the alive folk?? i don’t think any of the other siblings would have even thought about it / have ever thought about it tbh (right along with how ghosts affect him every other time too but thats its own thing). it probably wouldn’t occur to them, the fact there’s ghosts all over the road - just like every other place - and that there’s so many and that it could and would make driving harder for klaus than anyone else. im not sure even diego would realize it, without prompting anyway… and sure if they did know and they did try to help the help would be different bc its not like any of them can see ghosts but they can at least let him know whats alive yknow?? they could direct him. but also calm the anxiety that that situation would absolutely bring. even that would help a hell of a lot i think
