ALSO i think i am going to change my name... idk if im gonna change my blog name yet because i really do love my current name (mars) but it has people connected to it that i don't want to associate or think about. i'm going to go by Rhiannon for a bit (ugh i know it's cringe to say but fleetwood mac is my favorite band sooo) and one of my friends has already nicknamed me nonny so feel free to call me that too :)

i know i’ve rambled about this before but I think about it a lot with the various like “can reptiles/fish/non cat/dog pets ACTUALLY love you back” posts and articles about how to tell when your cat loves you and I just sometimes think it’s a little silly to act like love is both this grand ineffable mystery in regards to pets (or people) and something to be measured and assessed
like does Baloo let me hold her paw for a long time (a Measure of Trust according to many articles)? No, she doesn’t really like having her paws touched. But when she gets her head stuck in the back of a chair or her scarf’s caught on something, she stills the moment I touch her head and lets me—a big, strange creature (who frankly often runs into furniture and doorframes)—manipulate the most fragile and vital part of her body in order to help her.
love is an action imo. your dog doesn’t need to be able to comprehend the words ‘I love you’ to feel loved, and your snake doesn’t need to purr to show that it trusts you and likes being around you. love is going to look a little different in every setting and trying to both box it in and demand it meet certain criteria is just...kind of dumb

Kinda got a love/hate relationship with the history of K/S because it's like. Can I please have a queer discussion about this 1960s television show without it being reduced to "shipper discourse". I thought Spock and Kirk were homo long before I knew that their characters spawned a fanfiction counterculture. The bisexual dude who wrote the episode that really kick-started the movement didn't know it was going to coalesce into the fan phenomenon that it did, he was just writing what he knew how to write best: the repression of burning male desire, and two dudes doing homoerotic shit. Can I just talk about the repressed burning male desire please, and the implications of a gay angle to Kirk and Spock's story, without it being referred to as shipper discourse. Can I do that. Does this make sense

don't ask how i got here but i am currently imagining Zoe as a popular twitch streamer and whether he plays videos game or does art depends on his mood that day and if you complain about him doing one and not the other bc you don’t care about this half of the content do the other thing instead he just bans you with no other reaction or warning given he doesn’t even blink
the only tell is a slight furrowing of his vestigial eyes so every time his face does this number everyone in the chat explodes in a delighted frenzy to figure out who just got themself launched
(his ability to pay attention to both whatever he is doing And the chat simultaneously at all times is very handy, and so so bad for his psyche)

Thinking about an AU where Ritsu is the one who ends up being Reigen's student instead. Say he's there when Mob sees the sign, dissuades him from going in because "it's probably a scam anyway!" But then of course, little envious Ritsu ends up coming back the next day, unable to help himself at the chance, the possibility that someone could help him develop psychic powers like his brother. He figures Reigen out almost immediately, of course, because he demands to be shown Reigen's power. But Ritsu is desperate, and Reigen has always had a kind way with words, and soon enough Ritsu and Reigen are going ghosts adventures! Leaving Mob behind :') Even more alone than before :'))
And as S&S fills up with things of ACTUAL spiritual significance, like artifacts and purified salt and herbs at Ritsu's obsessive insistence as he tries to find an in to psychic powers and Reigen tries to encourage him without encouraging him, Ritsu and Reigen get closer. Ritsu is more surly than Mob, less inherently trusting and more emotional, more easily annoyed—but he has no reason to hate Reigen in this verse. Reigen has never even met Mob, much less used his powers for his own gain. Reigen grows incredibly fond of this desperate boy, good at everything but the one thing he wants to be good at, and tries to lead him away from those feelings of jealousy and inadequacy. In turn, Ritsu himself is healthier. A little easier going, though still almost perpetually bristling with temper 😮💨
He and Mob are closer as a result! He becomes Mob's only friend, more open with his own thoughts and feelings and, thanks to Reigen, far less afraid of him. Mob is more emotionally stunted than ever, and though he has some tentative acquaintances in the Telepathy club, he's still mostly alone and isolated. All of Reigen's helpful advice on dealing with his autism (identified by how Ritsu speaks about his Shige-nii and the behaviors he says he exhibits) is relayed through Ritsu, who comes to understand Mob a little more because of it.
But—oh, didn't I mention? This is a soulmate AU :)
Ritsu has two marks; one for Mob, and one for Reigen. Mob never develops a mark for Ritsu, but he expects that, obviously. Reigen also doesn't develop a mark for Ritsu, but given their age difference, Ritsu also expects that. He's a smart boy, and he knows that not all soulmarks are reciprocated. It's fine. They don't need to be. Ritsu has mostly made peace with his lot in life.
That is, before Mob and Reigen finally meet in person. And instantly develop matching soulmarks.
...Ritsu's psychic awakening is only slightly better than his brother's.

Sulluvan knows/has probs met the Witch King right? Maybe before he spoiled or sumn? Did the witch king have anything to say when Sulluvan went to collect him finally?
honestly i dont think he had much to say!!! sulluvan....sort of met him long ago? i always think about a mini-episode centered around sulluvan at that time (he was just a child all those thousands of years ago, and his father was the lord of the undertakers, so little sulluvan just kind of shadowed his father in dealings with the witch king and others,,...really the point of the episode is its a flashback on sulluvans part that is actually focused on the merchant, who was ALSO alive at that time, looked and acted exactly the same, and was out and about his usual business of selling things. he sold little sulluvan a little pinwheel toy, and sulluvan reflects on that moment anytime the merchant is brought up. hes afraid of him, to be honest)
but back to the point, sulluvan by nature is supposed to be impartial!!! thats his role as the lord of the undertakers. he cant choose sides (which is why he doesnt participate in the fight against the witch king). he probably offers the witch king the chance to "redeem his wicked nature" by becoming an undertaker and "paying back the debt he owes" by working to deliver souls to the afterlife, to which the king replies "I have committed no wickedness."

yeah no i don't have the time to write a fix-it fic for that. Whatever. It's whatever. We all knew that Joel wasn't taking his lore seriously this series. He literally joked about it from the start. It's fine. That was a perfectly satisfying and normal conclusion to him having an ENTIRE ASS CHILD that he cared for and literally knew that the entire fandom would defend with its lives. I am capable of being normal about media, <- in the "anger" stage of the five stages of grief
