Mad Beast
CoD Hybrid AU | Navigation
“Come on pup, open the door.” You hear Johnny say. He sounds normal, but you know he isn’t. By pure luck you managed to find a place to hide. Even at your normal high speed it wasn't enough to lose Johnny. You remember what Ghost said, don’t open the door for them. You’re shivering, cause you know it isn’t Johnny, not your Johnny. “What did we say about orders pup?”
You stay quiet, pressing against the door to hold it shut. In your weaker state though, your strength is equal to Johnny’s, but he’s also been shot full of blood. You hear the knob jiggle and your heart is pounding. Soap isn't supposed to be affected by blood though, being a werewolf. Something else was going on. You weren't about to try and ask him a personal question or try to solve it now.
“Pup open the door. Let me in.” He says. It’s more firm, like he’s trying to discipline you. You want to open the door but you know the risk and the dangers and you had order’s from Ghost not to. “Ar’nya hungry? Open up and we can go eat.”
Soap shouldn’t be able to break through the door but it doesn’t stop you from feeling it shake as Johnny keeps pounding on it harder and harder as his voice gets louder.
“Open the door! Pup, I need to talk to you!”
“No no no…” you whisper to yourself. Johnny gets more aggressive, and he isn’t holding back.
“Let me in! I mean it! Getting sick of your shit!” He’s almost ramming the door, at least that’s what it feels like. You’re getting flashbacks to the basement, when your mother used a similar tone. Sweet and kind and then demanding and cruel. “Open the fucking door pup! I can hear you in there! I can smell your stench too! Now let me in you brat!”
“Stop…please…” you say softly.
“You want me to stop? Then come out here and face me you rabbit eared freak! Come on!” The banging gets harder and louder, and you’re trying to hold strong. He doesn’t mean it. You know he doesn’t. It doesn’t stop tears from dotting your eyes.
“You little bitch let me in!! Now! Fucking had enough of you! Open the door right now!”
The door shakes and you know you have to find somewhere to hide. Could Soap sniff you out? Maybe. But you couldn’t stay at the door.
“Little rabbit let me in!!” Johnny’s voice changes to some more beastly, and deep. It’s almost a snarl when he talks to you. You can hear something break when he hits the door. You need to move!
“Open! The fucking! Door! You annoying! Little! Bugger!” Johnny barks before he breaks through the door. You’re nowhere in sight. You hold your breath waiting for the chance to flee. With Johnny juiced you don’t know how much faster you are than him. You need as much distance from him as you can and that means waiting for the perfect chance to flee. If that meant being found first then you have to risk it.
“Alright brat where the fuck are ya?” Johnny wonders aloud. “Don’t ya wanna see ya big brother? Been a month.”
You try to make yourself smaller, seeing him in a partial shift, mostly human, but looking almost nothing like one. Soap starts tearing things apart trying to find you, growling at every spot he checks. You hold your breath, praying he can’t hear your heart pounding in your chest. He moves past your hiding spot, getting closer. You flinch when he checks the cupboard next to you. He’s close enough that if you had a flu shot, you could stick him with it and run.
“Little bitch…” he growls and leaves the room. You hear him padding down the hall, and take a second to catch your breath. You meant to run that whole time but fear kept you back. Hell you were behind the bloody door how did he not see you? You take a few moments to collect yourself before slipping out of your hiding spot.
All is quiet. You’re safe for now. You look down the hall towards the medbay, and back at Johnny down the other way.
Shit. You bolt as soon as there is eye contact narrowly avoiding Johnny lunging for you.
“Come back here!” His yell echoes through the halls as your mind focuses on nothing but running. You don’t look back, you don’t even check the other corridors. Your focus is on reaching the medbay and trying to lose Johnny. Unfortunately wolves tend to hunt in packs and you one scared and terrified rabbit. You weren’t going fast enough past another corridor, and you saw a dark shadow. A fast dark shadow.
You slam into the hard stone wall, the wind knocked out of you. You coughed and would have crumbled if a nagual didn’t hold you against it by the neck. Your vision was blurred and your ears were ringing as you tried to focus. Definitely doesn’t help Alejandro has a death grip on your throat, and all you can do is try to pry it open enough to breath. You try to kick him back, disarm him, defend yourself, fucking anything!
“ALE!” You hear Soap yell, and both of you look back down the hall, seeing Soap approaching. Wait is that foam around his mouth? You don’t get much of a look because Alejandro removes you from the wall and instead holds you against him. He doesn’t back away, instead growling and clutching you almost in a possessive way.
“Drop them…” Soap orders.
“Mine.” Alej says. You try to get away but you feel a familiar death grip, warning you. Fucking hell you may as well be prey, fuck it you are prey! Without the wendigo to shift to you are running out of options. Soap is coming closer, and you’re pretty sure he won’t care if Alejandro still has a grip on you or not. The nagual isn’t letting go.
“Alej…please…” you beg quietly. He growls, and tugs you back, focused on Soap. “Please let go…”
Suddenly Alejandro’s body jerks and he roars in pain, while you finally are free from his grip. There’s a split moment where you see Alejandro turn to face his attacker and you see feather blades sticking out of his back. Gaz makes himself known, and throws more, before going for a kill shot with his talons. You take the opportunity to bolt ahead of the nagual, juast as Gaz struck.
You had your back to them when Gaz caught sight of you. Unfortunately that sparring practice with him paid off. For him. You feel a sharp pain in your shoulder before stumbling around the corner. You hold your tongue but can hear more fighting behind you. Eyes forward, keep running! Don’t look back you don’t have time. The sooner you reach the med bay the sooner you can locate Ghost and Rudy and the sooner you can get them cured… hopefully.

Piggy backing off of that last post wondering to myself... not necessarily "reader insert" where you try to believe it's you, not descriptive enough to be an oc, but a secret third thing. A story about 'you'... just maybe not *you* (horror?)

Okay so imagine going to a beauty salon in hell and Vox is sitting in the waiting room flipping through a tech magazine about new TV models. He is considering changing up his look.
Beauty and the Jackelope
Vox X Reader Platonic
No TWs
Rachelle’s Beauty Emporium. While located on the outskirts of Cannibal Town, it was one of the best places to go for beauty advice. Normally, I avoided Cannibal Town just due to the fact it wasn’t the best in terms of getting grub.
Rachelle’s place though, had it’s charm. Getting my Strawberry hair cut and styled, while they did so well avoiding antlers and ears, sure made it worth going to. Even more so when they helped during those shedding months.
Hence, why I was here today. I needed the velvet shed. It was starting to peel on it’s own and it was driving me crazy. Which meant I became irritable at work. I had gotten into it more than once with Vox’s head assistant when he badgered me to get repairs done quicker on any systems that ended up down.
So, I came here to get rid of this week’s velvet. However, I hadn’t expected to see a certain demon there. What was Vox doing here of all places? “B-Boss,” I squeaked out and slowly sat beside him.
“Do I know you,” Vox said with a huff and air of annoyance. He flipped through the magazine in his hand. Wait, was that a TV model magazine?
My confusion and nosy nature perked at such a strange situation. “Yes. I work for you. As part of your IT department…I’ve been in your office to fix your TVs…a lot.”
“No. That’s a deer demon. You’re not her.” Vox stated, looking down his non-existent nose at me. “I would know. Don’t try to fool me stupid rabbit.”
I gave him a dirty look. “Sir, I’m a Jackelope. Not a rabbit. And 100% not a deer.”
“Ha! Prove it.” Vox said and shook out the magazine like it was a newspaper, settling back into the chair.
I growled and glared at him. My antler’s flared slightly, growing a hair, before I forced myself to calm down. "I don’t have to prove shit to you. I have better things to do here then remind you who I am.”
“Knew it, Rabbit. If you just wanted to get in my lap for a ride, you should have just said so instead of trying to act like you work for me. After I get my new model, you and I can go back to my place,” Vox purred and flipped a page.
I felt like I was going to puke and shook my head, my anger flaring again. My ears flashed a red, and my nose scrunched. My antlers grew to where they could be seen. I held my tongue, but my ire was already flaring. Between the itching and now his attitude, I was losing control of my temper.
Suddenly, I felt a claw poke at my three-pointed antlers. “Excuse you,” I snapped and pulled away from his claw. “Anyone tell you to fucking look with your eyes and not your claws?”
“Aww little Bambi,” Vox purred and reached out to tap them again. “I swear, all of you deer demons have the same antler growth.”
“I. Am. Not. A. Deer! Dammit, I am a fucking Jackelope,” I snarled and moved to a few seats away from him, out of reach.
“All I’m seeing is a Deer Rabbit,” Vox said and smirked. He knew what he was doing, and he knew this was his employee from the start. But some things were just too much fun to skip out on. Especially when this employee was usually calm and collected. “So, Deer, why don’t you climb in my lap, and I can continue looking at new seasonal models?”
Just as I was about to finally snap, my name was called to go get my hair and antlers taken care of. “Bunny?”
“HA! So, you are just a Deer Rabbit,” Vox laughed and grinned.
“Uh, Fuck you! I am a Jackelope! My name is Bunny,” I snapped and stomped off.
As I walked away, Vox continued to laugh and flip through his magazine. “I think a Curved Monitor might look good.”
“You’re Forehead would be too big sir,” I snap before rushing off for my appointment.

Mud Fight
Not sure what to call this, a one-shot? Features John Winchester and Reader.
Warnings: Lanugage (this should be assumed with my writing!)FLUUUUUFFFFFF
Word Count: about 900(ish)
Author’s Note: This was just something I dreamed up. Thought they deserved it. :) I feel awkward tagging people without them asking, nor do I have any special tag lists, but if there’s interest, I’ll do it!Thanks for stopping by!
You and John just finished a hunt. The locals were sure it was a bigfoot due to a print they’d found at the scene of one of the maulings. The monster had been killing and eating whatever animal, or human, it came across. Neither one of you knew what the best way to kill it was, so it got shot, decapitated, salted and burned, better safe than sorry. Even John had never seen something like that…
The rain had started as soon as you’d killed the…whatever the hell that thing was. What had been a ten-minute hike in, turned into a twenty-minute hike out with the rain making the terrain sketchy. Neither of you spoke much on the way out except to point out holds and dangerous spots. You were both still processing what you’d seen. Seriously, what WAS that thing?      When you finally got to the clearing by the river, you both stopped on a ridge just before leaving the protection of the trees.      “It wasn’t a rabbit, it was too huge,” you spoke loud to be heard over the rain.      “Sure as shit wasn’t a deer either, too fluffy,” he pointed out.      “It was like a giant…” you began, losing your words.      “…angry…mutated…” John was at a loss, too.      “Jackelope?” they both said making eye contact, still not believing what they saw.      He shrugged. “If you hadn’t screamed,” he began.      “What?! I didn’t scream, that was YOU, ya big wuss,” you shot back.      He turned to you to deny what you’d said, but suddenly, the little ridge of dirt under his feet gave way and John was sliding down the slope, getting covered in mud. You watched in shock and amusement as he came to rest at the bottom with a muddy, clumpy mess following him.      You were dying, “Oh my god, that’s the funniest fucking thing I’ve seen in months!”      John could hear your roars of laughter over the heavy rainfall. He looked up over his shoulder at you. He was covered head to toe in mud. When he raised his middle finger at you, you laughed even harder…until your little piece of earth gave way under your own feet and sent you tumbling down the slope almost slamming into John.      Your head came to rest in the mud near his knee. The wind had been knocked out of you. John took the opportunity to lean over into your line of sight. “Not so funny now, huh?” he said smirking.      You grabbed a handful of mess and threw it at him. It made a very satisfying splatter across his chest and chin. And so began a solid five minute mud fight/wrestling match in the pouring rain. When you weren’t throwing mud and John was close enough, you were shoving mud in his pockets and wherever else you could grab fabric. John would knock you off balance, sending you back down into the mud and would throw as much mud on you as he could before you could get on your feet again.      The battle only ended when John got you in a hold so strong you couldn’t slip out of it. He held you tight as you both caught your breath. You were both so well covered in mud, only your eyes and teeth were a different color. You twisted your body a little so you could see his face.      “That was fun,” you grinned, your teeth shining bright against your muddy face. “Didn’t know you had it in you, Winchester.”      “I used to be a civilian, once,” he said. “I’m not a robot, (Y|N).”      You looked at him and saw that mischievous spark in his eyes. You knew he wasn’t a robot. Not more than a few moments ago, he had his hands all over you, under your clothes. You knew, without a doubt, that John Winchester was not a robot. The heavy rain was rinsing the mud from your face and body. John released you from his strong hold on you and rubbed the mud off his hands.      You looked over at his truck, wishing he had listened to you and put a topper on the truck bed. You would have, at least, had a place to go to get out of the rain. It would be difficult to get out of your muddy clothes and keep what shred of modesty you might have left. John pulled out a tarp from the tool box and started spreading over the front seat of the truck. He had started the engine and cranked up the heat.      “What are you smiling at?” he asked as you helped spread the tarp.      “It was a good day,” you said still smiling. “Monster is dead. People are saved. We’re okay. It was a good day.” Then the most amazing thing happened. John looked at you and smiled. A real smile. You didn’t get to see them often, he always had a lot on his mind and it wore on him hard. It made you feel good that your silliness had made him forget about the messy world you lived in, even if only for a little bit.

Don't leave of the Stagecoach unarmed with no understanding of the threat in the Wild West. Instead, understand precisely what you want to get out of your VBT and make VERY particular that your potential VBT operator is mindful of your requirements in advance. Contracts might still be as rare as jackelopes in this contemporary internet invention however remember one thing. Writers know how to research study and they understand how to write. Research your expectations and requirements along with your potential VBT operator. Like whatever else in these territories, there are likely to be solid residents and shifty drifters out there, both delighted to invite a traveller off of the afternoon stagecoach.
Couple of days look the exact same. Right now I'm 9 days far from the Love's Rescue book launch, so I'm assembling historical displays and household costumes since the event is Travel Back to 19th Century America-Civil War and Western shows and gown related to the book along with the book finalizing. I'm likewise doing interviews, marketing, dealing with promoters, modifying, homeschooling 3 teenagers, developing a banner, organizing the folks at church helping me with the screens and book launch, and trying to figure out how to keep the ground squirrels out of my bird feeders.
Small organisation a virtual book tour is a "tour" of numerous book-related blog sites. Where an author "appears" in a different location every day for a duration of one week to a month or perhaps longer. For numerous book blog sites are popular among general readers. The authors have discovered that composing guest posts on other blogs helps raise awareness of its name and the book. Small company there are a number of companies to promote. Organize and schedule the blog site tours for authors. Blog trips books supplies a budget-friendly and enjoyable way to book promotion. One such benefit is embarking on a program that you are also a couple of events in your look for. When blog writers publish their posts remain live on these blogs indefinitely, little business.
You desire to comprehend how Facebook admirer pages run if you desire to utilize Facebook for e-book marketing. A single of the most significant issues that authors make is to not set up a admirer web page in the very first area. What a missed out on possibility! But why, you request? Simply since you want to sector your guide, not simply to your buddies, however to your fans! Let's examine a handful of methods that a Facebook fan websites can support you market location your book.
Among my favorite techniques of marketing my books is to develop joint ventures with other authors who have the very same target market. I usually contact the authors I find on Amazon and Selfgrowth and ask if they would have an interest in setting up a teleseminar or webinar and cross promote each other's books. I have them send a notification to their database to invite their followers to a totally free session and half way through we change it up from being the recruiter to the interviewee. When I edit the audio program I'll cut out their interview and post my section on my website as a totally free download. Individuals like complimentary product, so it is a very efficient approach of getting fans to return to your site frequently.
However, do not just go the Internet route! Make certain you also do the "hard" work of getting in front of the general public through radio, TV, and even book tours. While the virtual book trip can be a substantial benefit, the old methods still do work.

CoD Hybrid AU | Navigation
Another little story, that has been in my drafts for way too long and I had yet to release. It got kind of buried by other drafts I haven't posted, so here's more drabble. I've also made some edits, as this was written around the very beginning of my tumblr writing... and now we're here.
A few things you start doing around when you’re not on missions is help Hunter with their work outside of missions. You learn to wrap wounds and make splints for the human soldiers. The hybrids…you learn some things about them.
First off Price often helps Gaz with preening, removing any loose or damaged feathers but Price can’t always help. You notice one day that Gaz’s wings look a little shaggy, like he'd ruffled them and they weren't settling.
“Yeah, I haven’t been able to preen them very easily. Hard to reach places and all.” He says.
“Could I help?” You ask. Gaz shrugs.
“Sure. Just be gentle, and only the loose ones.”
At first he does it while sitting on a stool but this proves a bit difficult, as you can’t easily tell which ones are loose when they’re folded. Gaz gives in and lies down on his stomach letting the wing stretch out for you to see the loose ones better. You’re able to get them much easier and set the feathers aside. You take some time to look at the feathers more closely, and he lets you keep one of them which you manage to braid into your hair for ‘good luck’.
Horangi was shifted one day and reclining in the rec room. He did this sometimes to just be alone from any humans, though it didn’t really work on the other hybrids. You come into the rec room and he looks up at you before putting his head back down. You sit down next to him and trying to sketch him while he’s resting.
When it comes to contact though, your intrusive thoughts can take over. You can’t help but want to try and pet him. You did it with Soap when he was shifted, and Horangi was also a shifter. Your brain puts these two thoughts together and you pet him, giving gentle neck rubs. He makes a sort of annoyed growl until you find his sweet spot. That’s when your eyes widen and your ears perk up. He was chuffing! You give him more neck rubs, going for two hands and he lifts his head for you a bit as he continues chuffing. You giggle a bit finding it surprisingly adorable. Someone enters the room and he shifts back to human lowering your hands. You’re still snickering.
“What is so funny?” He asks.
“You were chuffing.”
“I don’t chuff.” He says a little red.
“Yes you do.” You say with a big grin. “Don’t worry about it. Soap does the same thing, except it's his tail.”
Horangi raises an eyebrow at that. The big bad wolf, wagging his tail like a happy puppy. Knowing you, it's not surprising.
This one you’ve done a few times before it’s just become a habit at this point but Soap gets restless during the full moon. You and him have started calling your difficult times during the month full moons. Both of you are there to help with those times.
When you have cramps or are feeling stressed and emotional he makes sure you’re doing better and have what you need. He even calls on Hunter for a couple of things to help you out. If you get overly frustrated or angry, he's firm with you, reminding you to go cool off, and take a minute to yourself.
Originally you didn’t know about his full moons but at one point you overheard growling and a couple of howls from outside and went to go and see it, unable to sleep yourself. You found Soap in a field not far from the base, simply howling up at the stars. A twig snapped underfoot and he caught notice of you in your pjs and hoodie before striding over to you. He pressed his snout into your shoulder and you gave him some hesitant pets before you noticed his tail wag. Then you went all in with the scratches, not even caring there was a full grown man behind all this fur. He was on the ground rolling over for a belly rub and you can’t help but laugh and rub away.
When you both finally returned to base Soap was exhausted, and finally went back to human. You comforted him and helped him back to bed so you wouldn’t wake up Hunter. Ghost was waiting and helped you get him to his room. Since that night you don’t always go out with him but you notice him awake and wandering the base around the full moon. It becomes a sort of ritual between you too, and though he often insists on you going back to bed you insist on making him something for you to both snack on.
As a girl you have your own full moon and the scent is not impossible for Soap to notice. ‘Full moon’ sort of becomes a safe word for you two, asking if the other is okay or if they need some company or comfort.
One night you’re sick and had to stay in your room for a while. Food was proving difficult for you, and Hunter had others to tend to. Hunter had been stretched rather thin and Soap knew of it. Recruiting some of the team, he got Hunter to take a break. Rudy and Gaz took them to get food and some relaxation. Meanwhile other medics tended to any wounded or injured. The problem was, they were fairly weary of you, aware that you were struggling to keep food down. Once the base had gone more quiet that night, Soap comes into your room after knocking.
“Oi pup. You dead?” He jokes. The only response he gets is a small groan. Soap opens the door and sees your pale face and laying form in the bed. He doesn’t let you make another sound before he wraps you in your blanket and carries you to the rec room, where there’s also the small kitchen. He sets you on the couch, and makes sure you’re cozy and you have a face mask on. He works on getting you some food, simple grilled cheese and a mug of soup. May not be Ma’s but it’s enough. You take small bites and small sips, thankfully keeping some of it down.
Alejandro doesn’t really like pets. At least the nagual doesn’t. Alejandro is fine when you want to curl up with him and will even offer his lap to rest on. But the nagual is more prideful. It shows affection in a way, taking the occasional head scratch or pet, but keeping the signs of affection minimal.
Or rather, it has other ways of showing affection. Like fighting you.
Alejandro is a good sparring partner and despite them not being the most friendly with each other, he and Horangi work well. Alejandro talks and shows you through various maneuvers, and goes slow. Horangi is a nice enough sport to be a practice dummy though he will take advantage of your vulnerable positioning and Alejandro instructive distraction to drop you like a sack.
Alejandro tends to shake his head but your giggles make it hard for him to be frustrated. Then it’s back to the beginning.
The nagual side on the other hand is a bit of a different story. It doesn’t hold back on you, and since discovering your wendigo form it takes full advantage to get itself acquainted with a new enemy. He may not run your tracking sessions as often as he used to, but when he does it’s full hybrid mode. Sometimes he takes you on night hunts if he needs to blow off steam, which makes tracking him harder for you. The Panther form is used for stealth making him harder to find even for you. Sometimes you try to hunt each other leading to a pretty rough fight. Alejandro doesn’t hold back unless he knows he’s going too far.
One of these nights, you hadn’t seen Alejandro for some time. You had also just come back from a rough mission. It hadn’t gone well and Alejandro had to step in more than once to keep you safe. He had requested you join him for a late session. You were in wendigo form for sometime until you found a place to rest and relax. It was a miracle you hadn’t passed out from exhaustion. Once you found cover on the ground, you returned to human, taking a moment to breathe.
You had maybe rested for 10 minutes when out of nowhere you’re tackled to the ground, and forced to shift before claws can dig into your flesh. You through the heavy mass off of yourself roaring at it to back off, irritated at the interruption. Thankfully the intruder was Alejandro who was able to take the hard blow just as well as you could. You stare each other down, before you shift back to human, catching him off guard a bit.
“Sorry I need a minute.” You say, bracing yourself against the nearest tree.
“No time out in the field Mija.” Alejandro reminds you as he shifts back to human as well.
“I know. Just… I’m fucking tired.” You say, fighting to stay standing. Alejandro comes over encourages you to join him sitting on a fallen tree. Now all you’re fighting is the urge to lean against him. You notice his breathing is heavy as well.
“How have you been sleeping lately?” He asks. You think about it for a moment and honestly with school work, training and missions, not as much as you would like.
“Not a lot.” You admit.
“Why did you say yes to coming on the mission then?” He asks.
“I thought I had to.” You reply.
“You’re young Mija. You don’t need to go on missions if you don’t think you can do it.”
“But I can do it.” You argue.
“You did do it. That’s not the point. You should have rested. König could have taken your place. If this were a real mission I could’ve killed you. When you don’t rest you affect your whole body, you’re not as aware, and you’re not as strong.” Alejandro explains. You fidget, his words leaving a tiny sting. You made everything harder for everyone else is what it sounds like. He notices your drop in expression, and puts an arm around your shoulders for a comfort.
“I messed up.” You say.
“On the contrary, you did very well Mija. Especially with how tired you were.” Alejandro says. “But remember you don’t need to come on every operation. If you want to, you sure can try, but you’re going to tear yourself apart doing it.”
You nod understanding him a bit better. Sleep was needed. No going on missions tired. Get better rest. He smiles at you.
“I’m sorry.” You say.
“Ahh don’t apologize.” Alejandro reassures you. “There were no casualties, and we achieved our objective. Now it’s time for you to rest, and I’ll make Hunter write you a doctor’s note if I have to.”
You smile at that and nod. On the way back you need another break from walking. He offers to give you a piggyback while shifted. You give in and end up passing out. By the time he reaches the base, almost everyone is in bed. Except for Price. He shakes his head at the sight but stays quiet, while he carefully takes you off of the nagual’s back and carries you to your room.
Price didn’t know what to think when your file landed on his desk. Still wasn’t sure what to think now. One thing he did know, was that you were part of his hoard. Which meant he’d grown attached. As long as you were with the 141, he was satisfied.

Older arctic fox reader, a good friend of Nikolai's, helps the 141 with a mission in Russian territory, and meeting our little wendigo as well.
Do what you want with this.
The reader is male, since I don’t usually do male readers. I’m definitely not imagining this guy looking like the anime KFC guy with fox ears and a bomber jacket…definitely not. Also lets access a different branch of the military with Special Investigations unit.
Fäks
You and Nik go back, and pretty far back. You served together in Russia and when he started working more “freelance” you got him whatever he needed to get whatever he needed. How did you two meet well funny story…he flirted with you. In his defence this was some time ago. Nik wasn't exactly sober either. Your hair was longer then and your body shape was slimmer than most. You’d been called beautiful by more than a few men before they noticed you were male. You started hitting on him back to see if he would pick up on your masculinity, before just asking Nik if he had figured it out yet. Nikolai saying you were very foxy for man is what cemented your relationship.
Nik didn’t tell you everything, but he kept in touch even after you parted ways. When a mission came up, and your commanding officer told you to stand down or to let it go, you reached out to Nik. Off the record wasn't uncommon for you, to the point you'd acquired a few safehouses for your own safety. You contacted Nik to see if you could get some help with your business trip, and he could deliver. When he told you the hybrids he could invite to your vacation home, your tail flicked. A wendigo, a dragon, a werewolf. You had to keep the list a little short but Nik wasn't about to just chauffer.
You stood outside the small base as the chopper landed, a smile on your face, under your scarf. Ice flecks whipped up around you, forcing you to raise your arm to protect your eyes. You didn’t approach until the rotors stopped. The rest shuffled out while Nik wasted no time coming to greet you.
“My brother.” Nik said, clasping your hand and providing a bear hug, which you return with a grin.
“Good to see you again comrade. This must be your friends.” You said, turning your attention to the newcomers.
“Captain.” Nikolai said, inviting Price over. “Meet Fäks. A good friend of mine.”
The dragon hybrid came over and shook your hand. He was bloody big, his horns making it difficult to keep a beanie on his head. You smiled, regardless of being a little intimidated.
“Welcome to Russia captain. It’s a pleasure.” You says.
“Pleasure is mine, Private Fäks.” Price said, nodding. All business this one. You were introduced to each one as friends. If there was a human who could bring hybrids together, it was Nik. Sure any human could arrange a meeting but Nik was special, looking past the hybrid while showing respect to it as well. As the soldiers filed out you noted each one. Gaz came up behind Price, shaking your hand in respect. Another human, Rudy greeted you next before going with Gaz towards the safe house. The final two exited the helicopter. A werewolf with his tail sticking out, saying to call him Soap. Behind him was a smaller soldier, with antlers and rabbit ears, calling herself Spirit. As the wolf and jackelope hurried inside, you took note of how Spirit was tagging along after Soap.
“Recruiting rather young.” You commented. Price nodded, his expression tells you it wasn't exactly his idea.
"Those two are a vision in the field." Price assured you. You looked forward to it.
Once inside and rooms sorted you wandered about, being as good of a host as you could. Nik would be sticking around to assist with extraction for this mission. You hadn’t gotten a chance to see the men with their jackets, scarves and toques off. The next day would be plenty of planning and decision making, figuring out how to break into a facility that was extracting various illegal materials and bi products from hybrids. This was a little personal for you, as you’d nearly had your own tail cut off or someone shave it for some sick mink.
There is a small lounge that could pass as a living room and you see the men have made themselves at home. You smiled reclining in a seat and immediately being asked by the harpy, about how you and Nik met. Nik loudly groaned, and buried his face in his hands, as you leaned forward ready to embarrass the shit out of him. Kyle already had a grin on his face.
“I was minding my own business whe-how old are you?” You said, interrupting yourself when Spirit walked in. She had a book in her hands, eyes wide like a deer in headlights.
“Uh…haven’t looked.” Spirit said. You looked at Nik.
“Not my idea.” Nik said shrugging.
“Apologies malen'kiy. Not used to such a young soldier.” You said. Didn’t mean to startle her.
“Come in Spirit, you’ll want to hear this story.” Gaz called to her. Spirit’s eyes went from wide to bright as she hurried to sit with Kyle. It’s cute how cozy she looked, with Gaz letting her snuggle up. Reminded you of someone else. You needed to focus on what was before you. Mission first, personal stuff later.
“Where was I…right I had a drink. Was enjoying some water, when Nik comes up and sits down like any old stranger.” You continued.
Originally Nik sent you a few files for the mission, since you would be leading it. Turns out he neglected to tell you what the wendigo was supposed to be. You were expecting a lanky humanoid, and when you were planning the mission that image remained.
“Wall here is pretty weak. I can find a hole nearby I’m sure.” You suggested when going over the plans. You looked up at Soap. “Unless a werewolf can?”
“I could do it.” Spirit suggested. “Wait, how much do I need to break it?”
You stood there for a moment, and looked up at the team. None of them said anything. The little jackalope just gave an expectant look. Were you missing something? You decided to take her at her word, but breaking the wall wasn't exactly what you were going for.
“On the other side is a lab. Not sure what’s in it but based on some of the cargo and shipments I’ve seen going in and out there’s a chance of explosives.” You continued.
“Door access might be easier.” Price suggested. Spirit looked a little disappointed.
“My thoughts as well.” You said.
“So breaking in from the outside is a no go?” Kyle asked. Certainly seemed more risky. So far breaking in with what access points you could reach would be more complicated with others but you couldn’t do this mission alone.
“I hate to suggest it, but could we slip in undetected?” Price asked. You considered that but didn’t like the idea.
“It would involve cages, some good acting, and a prayer.” You said. “Nik could drive a vehicle in with us in the back as cargo but the downside is we would need to either be drugged or knocked out. They won’t take “subjects” that are too active, and don’t want anyone knowing their way around in or out of the facility. Every stake out, all I could hear was breathing, no calls or cries. Overheard some drivers talkings about it with the guards.”
“Can we play dead?” Spirit suggested before looking at Soap. “No offence.”
Kyle snickered at Soap’s rolling eyes. You continued, “No, they test to ensure the hybrids are drugged. Guards will enter the truck for inspection before any of them go through.”
The young soldier seemed to shift from foot to foot. You could hear her heart picking up. When Soap put an arm over her shoulders she seemed to relax. The thought of cages made you a little uneasy as well, but it was easiest way.
“I don’t mean to devalue anyone, I have great respect for your work truly, but is bringing someone so young along a good idea?” You asked aloud.
“I’ll be fine.” Spirit said. You could hear her let out a huff, eyes firmly on the map. A strong malen’kiy.
Day before the mission you found yourself in the living space again, with Spirit sitting and drawing in her sketchbook. You had brought a sort of peace offering in the form of a muffin. She accepted it politely.
“Apologies for any offence I may have given you. It was not my intention.” You said. Spirit looked up a friendly expression on her face.
“I wasn’t offended.” Spirit said. You nodded and sat down, eyeing what she was working on. An arctic fox.
“Nik tells me you are a part of a program?” You asked. She nodded but fidgeted a bit. “Bad memories?”
“A bit.” She said, more focused on the sketch. You smiled.
“Do you need me to pose?” You teased. She looked at you smiling and shaking her head.
“I noticed you looking uneasy. While we were briefing.” You asked. When cages were brought up Spirit seemed to shift from foot to foot. Rudy would be a driver, along with Nikolai. You, Spirit, Price and Soap would be in cages and drugged. Gaz would provide overwatch. “If you don’t feel comfortable, you could always go in a cage with someone else, if it makes you feel safe.”
“You’re sure the drugs will be a lower dose?” She asked. You checked and double checked almost every hour, the doses were specific and precise, so they’d wake when they needed to, and wouldn’t be out any longer. You put a hand over your heart looking the young hybrid in the eyes.
“On my honour."
The truck is chilly but cold doesn’t bother you, nor does it bother Soap. Spirit had opted for staying in the same cage as Price who seemed a little chilly. Before the doses were administered, she curled up closer. Spirit insisted on having her poncho. Soap was also adamant on this.
“You have a little comrade captain.” You commented. Price nodded while Spirit gave a proud and smug look.
“Always.” Price said, his wing covering Spirit. You hear a small laugh, and quiet words from Price. Gaz went to each of you, injecting the dose. It would put you all to sleep. When you woke it was go time. You and Soap would be in one part of the lab, while Spirit and Price would be in another. Horns and antlers were valuable, as were scales. Furs had value but only so much. You notice Spirit getting nervous, can hear her breathing becoming unsteady. Price was there to keep her calm.
“You got this milan’kiy.” You told her. The needle goes in, she winced and then leaned back against Price. Price adjusted her to keep her from falling before Nik injected him. Soap was fidgeting in his own box as Rudy put the needle in him next.
Then it was your turn…and you…fall……asleep.
When you awoke you were close by to Soap who was already assessing the cage. He was focused, and ready. There was an extraction team on the way, but getting the other hybrids to safety was top priority. You started to pick the lock when you heard the horrible screech of bending metal. Soap was half shifted.
“That works.” You said and hurried out leading him to some more cages to assess the situation and get some files. Import records, profiles, transactions, whatever you could do to get to the root. You lift blankets on cages to check and see plenty of younger hybrids. The program was about to have a long week. Soap was getting the security system turned off. You were a “late shipment” which meant you had some time. No one would come to assess you for testing or anything like that which made for a perfect opportunity to get as many out as you could.
“How are those cameras?” You asked.
“What cameras?” Soap responded. You gave him a chuckle as he joined you, peeking under a blanket. Another fox hybrid, shivering, and looking newly shaved. Seeing soap, fhe fox cowered. Soap backed off, as you hushed the young kid.
“Не волнуйся. Мы здесь, чтобы помочь вам. Просто держись крепче.” You said. The kid nodded, eyes a little brighter. The blanket goes back down, and you stand up.
“Aye, Fäks. Found some shipments.” Soap called over. You came up to him, seeing the crates with smaller containers. The labels were going to a few high end companies. Disgusting, all of it. There was a barking sound. The two of them turned and saw the white Cadejo. Rudy had returned, which meant the guards wouldn’t be an issue. Soap got to the door and knocked, getting a response from Rudy immediately and letting him in.
"Find everything?" He asked.
"Downloading now." You informed him seeing the loading bar come up. Of course their tech was old and slow.
"Nikolai is on the other end." Rudy mentioned standing next to you, to see the progress himself.
"How is fairing?" You asked. There was a loud bang which told you something wasn't going right.
"Soap, Rudy, stay here." You instructed immediately. If there was one thing you didn't like it was sitting and waiting, and right now there was a chance a good friend of yours was in danger. You don't wait for their response as you leave the room and see a couple guys in lab coats rushing out. You drew a knife from your boot, shanking them both with quick and simple agility. You can hear odd noises and when you get the chance to look inside, you see Spirit's wendigo form, roaring and growling at whatever guards decided to poke her with a stick. Or cattle prod. Clearly they'd taken her out of the cage, intending to do some last minute assessment or maybe to get her antlers off. Price was taking out any guards that tried to go for him while Spirit tried clawing at them. Nik still had a weapon from his disguise, firing from whatever cover he could find from the tables and empty cages.
You don't hesitate to get more primtive, your blade doing only so much when it comes to armoured gear. You claw and bite, yes you have teeth, and you aren't afraid to dive into smaller space to remove anyone wanting to use the element of surprise. Thankfully, the fighting doesn't last long and you don't have too much blood in your mouth.
"Anyone broken?" Price called, taking a moment to catch his breath.
"Good here." You said.
"Fine here captain." Nik called, as you gave him a hand up.
Spirit made a cooing sound, shuffling from foot to foot. You approached her and she looked down at you tilting her head. A jackelope wendigo hybrid. Certainly a new one. Seeing the scraps of her clothes, you understand why she wore the poncho. Spirit shifted back to her more human state, retrieving a weapon from one of the guards. Still seemed a little shaken, but ready and at attention.
"Files should be finishing up. We have plenty of hybrids to extract." You said.
"Let get to it." Price said.
Plenty of reports and paperwork to write and sign for this side mission. The hybrids were either put into a program like Spirit's or were waiting for their family to retrieve them. You checked up on Nikolai, and as always he was still holding strong. After completing your last signature for the day, you got up to go find him. Knowing him, he'd likely have a drink, and you could use one.
"Figured you'd need one." Nik said, offering you a poured glass. As always, he'd thought of everything. You took off your jacket, letting it rest on your shoulders as you sat with him at the table. "Long day."
"Indeed." You said taking a long sip. The two of you nursed your glasses.
"How are you?" Nik asked you.
"That's your best pick-up line?" You asked, recalling the night you two had met. Nik laughed. "I'll be fine."
"You see your little one at all these days?" He asked.
"I avoid it." You admitted. Nik shook his head, pouring you another.
"You should see them. Wait a little, but go see them." Nik said. You could never turn him down. Even when you two first met. He was right though. You should go see your little one. Spirit had reminded you of them, and they deserved to have you around even if you didn't think so.
"I will. They're still reading, and I've started doing it too. Plenty to talk about I'm sure." You said. Nik nodded, and you spent the rest of the evening, catching up, inviting the others to join, and remembering the good times.
