Aftermath - Jackson Whittemore
Tumblr media
Jackson's POV:
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Scott's yelling at the blood soaked boy, eyes flashing that alpha red every so often, "You could have died!"
Y/N's just standing there, blood still slowly dripping down his face, hands shaking and right one never once loosening its grip on the baseball bat Stiles gifted him last year for Christmas. His forest green eyes empty and sparkling with unshed tears, bottom lip trembling just slightly. He's just a hollow shell, not listening to a word his older brother is screaming at him. In shock and on the edge of a breakdown and no-one's noticed.
"SHUT UP!" I'm yelling above Scott's lecture, causing the room to fall utterly silent because no-one except Stiles has any right to challenge the alpha, "Look at him!"
I'm getting up from my spot on the sofa next to Lydia and stepping in front of Y/N who still hasn't moved, eyes staring ahead and seeing nothing. His hands are shaking more viciously but that's the least thing to worry about now. I gently reach towards his face, keeping my hands in his line of sight until my hands are cupping his slick cheeks, only then realising he's crying.
"Y/N," I clear my throat to stop my voice breaking, "Hey, I'm here. You're safe."
"J-Jackson." His voice is rough and the wolf inside me whines because Y/N of all people should not have to feel like this.
"It'll be okay," I say softly, tilting his head up slightly so his eyes can meet mine with little resistance, "It might not be now, that's more than okay."
A choked sob escapes his throat and my arms slip down from his face to his hips, catching him as his legs give way and the baseball bat slips from his trembling hand. I have to guide him down, breaking inside when he just collapses against me, hands balling my shirt and his sobs... even Allison lets out a small whimper and she's nothing supernatural.
I just hold the bloodied up boy, carding my fingers through his soaked hair and silently vowing to find and kill whoever kidnapped him and hurt him like this. They will pay for how much they've destroyed this usually headstrong and stubborn boy.
Y/N suddenly pushes away from me, shining eyes meeting mine voluntarily for the first time since Chris rescued him. I go to open my mouth, wanting to ask what's going on in the quick mind of his but he's grabbing my shirt again. This time he's yanking it and suddenly I can taste blood, not mine or his but the blood of the kidnapper that's splattered across his face. I don't care because Y/N's kissing me, his lips on mine and oh man have I waited for this for so long.
Somehow I've ended up falling for a goddamn McCall...

Save Me Eli (Eli Hale x reader)

Warning : some blood lost, kissing
Summary : Y/N gets kidnapped and no one has seen her since yesterday, when Eli finds out he gets the pack to help him find the person he's in love with.
Tumblr media
Eli Pov
I haven't seen Y/n all day. She is always in. Never has she taken a day of at once. It is really weird of her. Normally she would be smiling and laughing with her best friend. But I just have this weid feeling something is not right.
"Hey Y/bf" I said as she turn to face me with a smile.
"Oh hey Eli what's up?" she asked me while I look down at the floor and back up at her.
"I was hoping if you knew where Y/n is as you two are always together? " I asked her. I hope she knows if not I'll be crush.
"That is true that we always stick together but I'm sorry I have not heard from her since yesterday and she has not answer my calls" My heart sank at the mentioned of it. It seems really off and I have a bad feeling about this.
"Okay, um, cool. But if you hear from her tell her that I was looking for her" I said starting to walk away.
"Will do" she said as I walked outside I took my phone out a d when to call Y/N it kept ring and ring but no one seems to answer it.
"Come on" I said to myself.
"Hey this is Y/n please leave a message or call me later" It when to voice mail I sigh and hang up only person who is good at these things is my Dads friends. The pack. I need them to help me.
Time skip~
I just called the pack for the emergency while I walked into my house stressing out already at Y/n. My Dad just came out from the kitchen and look at me confused.
"Eli what are you doing her you meant to be at school ?" Dad asked while I sigh running my hands through my hair.
"It's kind of a long story but I called for the pack they will be here soon" I said as Dad sigh.
Soon the pack has arrived Scott, Malia, Lydia, Liam, Parrish, Chris, Peter, Hikari and Jackson. They all look at me wondering why I called them.
"This better be good little Hale" Malia told me as I scratch the back of my head then sigh.
"Well something seems off this morning. There is this girl that goes to Beacon Hills she always, she has not taken a day off. But today she's just not in" I explained to them some of them just look at me blankly but Peter just looks like he wants to laugh at me.
"She's probably sick Eli" Lydia told me but I shake my head.
"Lydia right " Malia agreed with her.
"No your wrong she never skips school even if it's a little cold and I have these weird bad feeling that she's in danger" I said looking at my Dad for some help.
"Eli look we can check her house if she's sick if she's not then this calls for a mission" Scott said putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Right Liam, Hikari, Lydia, Jackson you stay here and let us know if you heard of anything" Scott explain.
"Again great " Jackson said throwing he's head back.
"I'll check out at the station " Parrish told us walking away.
"I'll come with you" Malia said following out of the house.
"Chris can you check the hospital in case she's up there" Scott said while Chris sigh.
"I knew you would say that" Chris said.
"And that leads Derek, Peter and I to check her house" Scott said as I look at them. But this is the girl I have been pinning over with.
"Wait I'm not coming ?" I asked them looking at them all confused.
"You need to lead this to the pack little one" Peter told me.
"No I'm the one that knows her. You don't even know where she lives and I've been pinning over her for months " I blur out then I cover my mouth with my hands with eyes wide.
"I knew there was something about this girl with you" Dad said chuckle after that.
"Whatever Dad, I'm coming and you can't stop me" I said walking out the house while the others sigh following me behind. I got in the jeep waiting for the others.
"Really you stool the jeep again?" Dad asked with he's arms out.
"Just follow behind me" I said starting the jeep up and driving to where Y/n house is.
Time Skip~
Once I got to her house and the others followed behind me. We all walked up to her door and I knock on the door. And wait for a while.
"You sure this is her house ?" Scott asked me when no one answer.
"Yes, her parent's take all day shift they are barley home " I said knocking on the door again.
"Maybe we should go" Dad said it as he said that I knock louder this time.
"Y/n it's Eli" I called out then sigh knowing no one is here.
"Well she's probably dead then" Peter said getting a glare from me, Scott and Dad.
"That's it" I said then I kick down the door and walked into the house seeing a place is a mess.
What the hell happened here? Once the other followed in they all look around seeing the mess.
"Someones been here" Scott said smelling the air.
"Now you believe me!" I said sarcastically throwing my arms in the air then turn the the stairs.
"Y/n!" I shout running up the stairs to Y/n bedroom. That is when I smell blood it still smells fresh. I walked into her room seeing trash everywhere and even see blood on her window steel.
"She's gone!" I shout to the others while they run up the stairs where I stand in her room.
"Call the others tell them what we found" Scott told Peter while I knee down holding one of Y/n teddy bear she has that is now ripped apart.
"Eli, we'll find her" Dad told me knee down with me as he put a hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eyes. I nodded standing up facing Scott.
"We need to find her. She's human " I told them. Y/n doesn't know anything about the supernatural world about anything.
"And will Eli. We will find her " Scott told me then left the room.
Time Skip~
"So she's stuck in a warehouse ?" Scott asked Chris finding out where she might be.
"Yeah that's the only place where any one will take someone" Chris told Scott.
"Because of me. Because I find an interest in her they take her because of me" I said throwing head back. I should of kept her close to me. Make sure nothing happens to her.
"Eli it's not your fault" Scott told me while I sigh.
"Yeah sure" I told him.
"We are running out of time " Dad told us all as we all left to go to this warehouse where she might be.
We all arrived at the warehouse and walked in waiting to face the enemy that has taken my girl.
"Where is she?" I asked as a dark shadow came out with claws and teeth out.
"Nearly dead if you come an hour later" the person said as my claws came out along with my sharp teeth. Normally I would faint seeing my claws out.
"We just want the girl. Give her back" Scott asked nicely to this stranger.
"I don't think so" the person let a laugh out.
"I'll kill you if you hurt her!" I growed out. I never felt so protective of her in my life.
Soon it seems we all just when into fight mode while I had so much anger in me that this person hurt her. I'll never let anyone or this person touch her again.
"Eli go and get her out of here!" Dad told me as I nodded running of to find Y/n.
While I turn the corner I look to see Y/n lying in the floor, pass out, she looks really pale that she could look dead. I can see blood pouring from her head and arm.
"Y/n I'm here" I said going over to her and hold her in my arms.
"Eli" I heard so weakly as she open her eyes up a bit.
"Hey I'm here " I told her as she buried her head against my neck.
"Get me out of here" She said I pick her up and carried her out of here while the others take care of the person who hurt Y/n.
I put Y/n in the back of the jeep and I drove to the hospital. Hopefully Melissa can help Y/n out.
"We're nearly here Y/n just hold on" I told her seeing her close her eyes. I gave her my jacket as she was wearing just a crop top and jeans.
Once I got to the hospital I carried Y/n in and looked for Melissa to help her.
"Eli" Melissa said walking over to me and seeing Y/N in my arms.
"Is this-" She asked but I cut her off.
"Y/N she's hurt" I told her as she nodded.
"Follow me" She said I followed her to a private room as I place Y/N on the bed and wait outside as Melissa helped Y/N out.
Time Skip~
As been a hour since I've been waiting to here back from Y/n I even when to the stops to get Y/n a new teddy bear she would like.
I felt like I want to cry over a girl that I have fallen in love with. Soon I saw the pack run up to me as I look at him.
"Is she okay?" Lydia asked me.
"She's not dead is she" Malia said while I look down at her.
"They haven't told me anything yet" I said with tears in my eyes. Soon Melissa walked as I stand up looking at her with hope in my eyes.
"She is fine. She has a few stitches on her arm but suggest taking care of her" Melissa told me as I nodded.
"Can I see her ?" I asked as Melissa nodded. I walked into the room seeing Y/n sitting up and awake.
"Hey you" She said smiling at me. I walked over to her sitting down and take her hand.
"You scared the living hell at me" I told her as she looked down.
"Sorry. I heard you were a real hero to me" After she said that I blush.
"Thank you" She said looking me in the eyes. Even when she's hurt she still looks beautiful.
"When I when to your house it was trash and I saw your teddy bear was ripped so I got you a new one" I said showing her it up to my face hearing her giggle makes me smile.
"You didn't have too" Y/n told me.
"I wanted to" I said as she took it out of my hand.
"I love it" Y/n said hugging it as I chuckle.
"Like I love you " I said then my eyes wide realized what I said.
"What?"She asked ad I sigh.
"Y/N I love you and I have for a long time but before you push me away I want to be more than friends" I explained to her see g her smile at me. I thought she might shout at me.
"I love you too " She said then she pulled me by my top and kiss me. The girl I've been in love with is kissing me right now!
"Wow" I said as we pulled away while Y/n chuckle at me holding my cheeks.
"Cuddle me" She said as I chuckle slipping into the bed while I hold her into my chest.
I finally got the girl I'm in love with and I'm never going to let her go.
She's all I have now.

Y/N: Are we all going to just ignore the fact that Derek and Peter just told us they're gonna kill Jackson?
Stiles: Hmmm, Jackson, never heard of em
Lydia: Let him die
Allison: Fuck that dick
Scott: GUYS!! NO BAD, WE'RE THE GOOD GUYS. REMEMBER?
Y/N: I don't really care to much for Jackson, but I'm not getting near Peter. Dude seems like the type to leave the tomato on his burger, what a walking red flag

Tumblr media
Word Count: 3.5K

For the first time, her family has decided to settle down and sustain a life in this interesting small town. A/N: uh oh, things are changing...

There was a tense air between (Y/N) and Derek as they reached her house. He helped her off the bike and kept his hand on her lower back as they walked to her front porch but did not say a single word. His stare was a million miles away, and she could tell his thoughts had been running rampant in his head.
“Are you okay, Derek?” the girl finally broke the silence as she slid her key into the door. “You feel weird. Like, distant.”
“I’m fine,” he said, his stoic façade still plastered on his face. “I just need to make sure you’re home safe before I get my pack.”
“They’re fine. They’re hiding up in my room.” She pulled out her phone from her pocket and showed him Isaac’s text confirming that they had locked themselves in her house. “But I need to know what you’re hiding right now because I know something’s up.”
“Everything’s fine,” he huffed. “Why are they here?”
“I thought they’d be safe here,” she responded. “Don’t change the topic, Derek. You know you can’t lie to me.”
“I just… we gotta stay away from each other for a while, okay? Believe me when I say, it’s for the best.”
The answer took (Y/N) aback. She stepped away from his touch, as though suddenly it burned her. His words had seemingly come out of nowhere. They were in a good spot, she thought. They weren’t exactly in a relationship, but they weren’t not in one either. They had been speaking consistently for the past couple of weeks, they had seen each other when they could, and they had kissed. God, did they kiss. “I-I-I don’t understand,” she stammered as she blinked away her confusion. “I thought we were good. I mean, I know our situation isn’t exactly ideal, but I didn’t think it was going bad.”
“It’s just not the time to deal with feelings, (Y/N),” he sighed. “I have to focus on how to get rid of the Kanima and why Scott would betray us. I simply don’t have the bandwidth to focus on you too.”
“Oh, I didn’t know I was such a distraction,” (Y/N) scoffed, putting another step of distance between them. “You know, it was only a few weeks ago that you were saying you wanted this to work. No matter how long it took or what hurdles we had to go through. You said I wouldn’t have to go through life alone, not while you were here. Was that all just bullshit?”
“It wasn’t… It isn’t…” He ran his hands across his face in frustration, letting out an infuriated groan. “With everything that’s going on, I can’t risk being close to you, (Y/N). The more time that passes with the Kanima here, the more hunters will arrive. Especially now that I have a target on my back, thanks to your cousin. Being with you only makes that target bigger, and it puts it on my pack too. I have to make the right decision for them.”
“So, everything I’ve done to help you guys out means nothing?” she cried, biting down the tears that threatened to spill. “I’ve stuck my neck out for you on more than one occasion. I think I’ve proven to be an asset to you and your pack when it comes to my family.”
“You have and I’m grateful,” he said. Derek took a beat before continuing. It seemed he knew the next words out of his mouth would drive a wedge between them that he wasn’t sure would ever be removed. “I just don’t know if one day you’ll turn on us like Allison has done to Scott, or even like Kate did to me.”
If there was anything he could say that would drive (Y/N) away, it was that. Her fears of one day becoming like her aunt still haunted her to that day. It was a quiet but haunting rumble in the pits of her mind, fed by her insecurities and her fears, and very much alive.
“A-are you serious?” (Y/N) wanted to appear confident and confrontational. But she couldn’t help the way her voice broke. “Do you really think I’d be capable of doing something like that?”
“I can’t be sure, (Y/N). I want to believe that you won’t and that you and your father are truly on our side, but I have to take precautions. It’s not just my life that’s at stake.”
(Y/N) didn’t know if his words stung more than the unchanging expression on his face. There was no care, no compassion. She wasn’t talking to Derek, her sour wolf. She was speaking to Derek, the alpha. “What brought this on, Derek?” she asked. “What made you change your mind all of a sudden?”
“It wasn’t anything specifically. It’s just… the situation we’re in is basically unheard of, and I need to make sure that I’m putting a hundred percent of my brain into resolving this,” he said. “And if Scott isn’t going to help, then I have to find a way to end this once and for all. I can’t be worrying about the hunters coming from your side too.”
Words died in the girl’s mouth as she tried to conceal the hurt that coursed through her veins. It was a betrayal like no other. “Is that really how you feel?” (Y/N) asked, her resolve quickly coming undone. “You once told me that you knew that I would never be like Kate. That there was no way I could be that heartless. Does that mean you lied? Have you always felt this way?”
And with determination like she had never seen from him, he said, “Yes.” By then, she couldn’t hold back the tears, but she wouldn’t let him see her hurt. She couldn’t keep the drops from falling, but she could keep her sobs inside. “(Y/N)…”
“Go,” she said sternly, facing her door and giving him her back.
“(Y/N), I…”
“I said go, Derek,” she restated, raising her voice. “You can call your pack after. But you need to get out of here right now.”
Before he could say another word, (Y/N) slipped into her house and locked the door behind her. Shuddering cries threatened to break through, so she clasped her fist into her mouth and bit down. She did not want him to hear her. He’d been able to shatter her heart with a few words, but he did not deserve to know her pain. Not anymore.
As the tears fell, she remembered the cuts on her face. Every time another drop fell, it sank into the open wound, mixing blood and salty water down her cheeks. The sting was enough to subside the pain in her chest, but not enough to make it go away. And all she wanted was for it to go away.
Suddenly, soft steps on her stairs forced her head to snap forward to see a witness to her despair. Erica wore a sympathetic smile on her face, something that surprised (Y/N) out of her tears. It had been the first time she had even held a kind gaze toward the girl, always throwing sarcastic comments or unnecessary jabs her way. But at that moment, she came to her as a friend.
“Let’s fix up that face,” she said. “Where’s the first aid kit?”
“Uh, um,” (Y/N) cleared her throat. “There’s one under the kitchen sink.”
“Let’s go.”
The blonde helped her up from the ground and followed her quietly into the kitchen. She didn’t throw snarky remarks her way or make fun of the way her face was most likely a disaster. All she did was remain silent and try to help.
Once the first aid bag was on the counter, Erica patted a stool to instruct the girl to sit. Something she very much obliged to before the werewolf set to work. She put on a pair of black gloves and set to clean the wound with cleansing wipes, clearing away any debris or tear that might have mixed with her blood.
“This is gonna sting a bit, okay?” Erica announced as she uncapped the liquid stitch bottle. “Do you need something to bite down on?”
“No,” (Y/N) smiled softly. “Go ahead.”
The girl winced softly as the liquid touched her skin, but it was quickly replaced with the comfort of Erica’s soft hands pinching the slash closed. She repeated the step two more times before cleaning the area once more and covering it with a gauze bandage. “There,” Erica said as she finished bandaging her arm as well. “The wound should breathe during the night to help with the healing. Try to keep it dry or without direct water contact for about five days, and you should be good.”
“Thanks,” she said. “You’re good at this.”
“I’ve had one too many falls not to be,” the girl chuckled as she put away the kit. “It’s actually the reason I’ve always wanted to become a doctor. I wanted to make sure no one else went through what I did.”
“Why can’t you?”
“At first it was because I was so behind in school, I’d never get the grades to get into a good school,” she shrugged. “Now, with the whole werewolf thing, I don’t think I could.”
“Why not? I think now it’ll be so much easier for you,” (Y/N) offered. “Now, you don’t have to deal with the seizures, and you can focus on your schoolwork. Later on, I’m sure any school would be begging to have you go there.”
“I don’t know,” the blonde sighed. “I guess, after seeing everything I have and going through what we have in such little time, I think med school seems stupid in the grand scheme of things. I would love to live a normal life, but I don’t think I was ever meant to. I mean, at first, it was epilepsy. Now, it’s the fact that I’m part wolf, part human, and I have yet to get that under control.”
Seeing Erica be vulnerable and sweet surprised (Y/N), and it was a welcome distraction to whatever it had been that had gone down with Derek. “You know this is going to end someday,” she tried to comfort her. “We’re gonna beat the Kanima, and the hunters will go back to their own lives. Life won’t always be like this.”
“How can you be so sure? Something tells me there’s always gonna be something in this town,” she chuckled dryly. “The only way to go back to normal is to leave.”
“Is that what you want? To leave Beacon Hills?”
“I mean, it’s a plan,” she shrugged as she sat beside (Y/N). “I didn’t think it would be like this. The constant looking over my shoulder, the fear that I’ll be caught, the fear that I’ll be killed. I wanted the strength, the power that came with being supernatural. But I didn’t really measure the danger that came with it. Unfortunately, not every hunter can be like you.”
“I think that’s the first time you’ve ever complimented me,” (Y/N) chuckled. “Don’t know how I feel about it.”
“Don’t get used to it,” the girl grinned. “But seriously, you have no reason to protect us like you have. I mean, apparently, even lovesick Allison turned on lover boy.”
“Yeah, grief makes you do unthinkable things,” she sighed. “Especially when you have a monster like Gerard whispering in your ear.”
“And he doesn’t whisper in yours?”
“God no. I don’t think he particularly likes my family. At least my dad and I.”
“Ooh, family drama?”
“None that I know the details of, but I know it has something to do with me and some woman from my dad’s past,” (Y/N) explained, remembering the not-so-hushed words from her parents. “Also, my dad sort of sides with the wolves rather than the hunters. He thinks their methods are too extreme and cause more harm than good. He told me he wants to change the group from the inside out, but it’s hard.”
“And you believe him?” Erica inquired, biting the skin from her fingers. (Y/N) could see she hadn’t noticed yet. It was something she did before turning, a way to calm her senses when everything seemed too much. “Do you really believe he’s on our side?”
“He helped me find Derek tonight, and he covered for me about the rave. I don’t think he would lie to me about that. My mom on the other hand…”
“Can’t stand us?”
“Yup.”
“Well, you can tell her the feeling is mutual.”
“Hey,” (Y/N) exclaimed with a smile. “That’s my mom you’re talking about.”
“No offense,” Erica laughed as she threw her arms up in surrender. “But seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but thank you, (Y/N). I’ve unnecessarily been a bitch to you, and you don’t deserve that. So, I’m sorry.”
“Am I really getting an apology from Erica Reyes? I think I might be dreaming.”
“Oh, come on,” she chuckled. “I’m trying to be serious here—vulnerable. I am grateful for what you’ve done for me, even when I was horrible to you. You didn’t have to.”
“Well, you got the bitch part down, I didn’t think I needed it, too,” (Y/N) grinned before she took Erica’s hand and smiled warmly. “But it means a lot that you apologized. Thank you. Maybe from here on out, we could be friends. I honestly need more in this town.”
“I think that would be great,” she beamed. “I’ve been needing a dose of estrogen after so many months surrounded by testosterone.”
As the girls laughed, footsteps came down the stairs and quickly joined them in the kitchen, followed by the pitter-patter of claws against the hardwood floor. “Well, look at these two fraternizing,” Isaac told Boyd. “Never thought I’d see the day.”
“I would be rude not to when it’s her house,” Boyd shrugged. “Which, again, thank you for letting us hide out here. We haven’t really received any other instruction from Derek.”
“Yeah, and I don’t think you will anytime soon.”
“What do you…?” Isaac’s words died in his throat as he noticed (Y/N)’s bandages and the smell of iron in the air. He was quick to rush to her side, inspecting her visible skin for any other wound. “What the hell happened?”
“Ah, just a small run-in with Jackson,” she shrugged as she knelt to pet Brody, scratching him on the spot behind his ears he loved so he wouldn’t worry about her. “I’ll be fine. I just don’t heal as fast as you guys do.”
“How serious was the cut?” Isaac asked Erica, knowing (Y/N) would only wave him off. “Was it deep? I knew I should have gone with you to the station.”
“It wasn’t deep enough to need stitches, Isaac. She’ll be fine.”
“Dude, calm down,” Boyd chuckled. “She’s tougher than she looks.”
“Thank you, Boyd,” she smiled toward the boy. “I really appreciate the vote of confidence. You should learn from him, Lahey.”
“Yeah, it’s all fun and games until you get seriously hurt,” he grumbled, crossing his arms across his chest. “I can’t believe I let you go there by yourself. I should have been there.”
“And risk getting caught by my grandfather? Absolutely not,” she reprimanded. “As a matter of fact, all of you need to lay low because while Jackson is still the Kanima, more hunters will keep flooding into town, and I don’t wanna risk any of you getting caught. If you need a place to stay, I think I can talk to my dad and help you guys out. Maybe tell my mom the basement flooded and keep you guys there?”
“Thanks, (Y/N),” Boyd smiled. “We’ll talk to Derek first. See what the next steps will be.”
“Yeah,” she scoffed lightly. “And if you can find out what the hell is going on with him in the meantime, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
The four of them spent the next hour in her kitchen, talking and laughing like normal teenagers until Erica and Boyd said they were too tired to still be awake and headed to (Y/N)’s room. But not before the girl turned and thanked Argent for giving her a night where she felt normal. After that, only Isaac and her were left downstairs.
They had moved into the living room, where (Y/N) rested her head on his lap, and Brody curled up right beside them. Henry had texted her that he and her mother would be staying over at Chris’ house and that he’d keep her posted on anything that would be going down.
“I don’t understand what happened, Isaac,” she sighed as she felt his hands running through her hair. “Everything was going great until just an hour ago. What made Derek change his mind?”
“Honestly, I wish I could tell you,” he said. “But Derek’s not one to really talk about what’s going on in his head. The only time he’s ever been nice to me is when you’re around. He’s quite a dick when you’re not around.”
“But he’s still your alpha.”
“It’s not like there are many options here,” he chuckled. “And I guess I feel a bit indebted to him. If it hadn’t been for the bite, I’m pretty sure I would have ended up in the hospital, or even worse…”
Isaac couldn’t bring himself to say the words, instead taking in a shuddering deep breath. (Y/N) could see his eyes getting cloudy with tears as fear overtook him. Even if that part of his life was buried, there was no way to repress the memories.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that, Isaac,” she responded quietly, taking his free hand in hers. “And I’m sorry you had to go through it alone. I wish I could have at least been your friend back then.”
“I think you came at the perfect time,” he smiled softly. “Just long enough to get my shy and adorable side and stay to see my resurgence into an amazing and confident werewolf teenager.”
“You know, some people would say cocky and self-absorbed.”
“Well, those people would be wrong,” he chuckled. “But you did come at the right time. Those last couple of months, you actually gave me hope. If we had spent more time together, I think I may have even refused the bite.”
“Would you have, really?” (Y/N) mused. “Would you have given it all up?”
“I think so,” Isaac shrugged. “I mean, people around us don’t seem disturbed by what’s going on in this town. All I would have to worry about is whether or not I could pass my classes, and well, social services I guess.”
“Not funny,” she reprimanded, slapping him softly on the chest. “But the supernatural does suit you.”
“It does, doesn’t it?”
“Oh, calm down, Lahey.”
“I’m just kidding, Argent,” the boy laughed. “As for Derek, all you have to do is give it time. He can be a moody one.”
“Something feels different this time, though,” she sighed. “I don’t know what it is, but something’s just off.”
The last thing Derek had wanted was to make her cry. Hearing her sobs through her door made his heart wrench in his chest, and all he could do was get as far away from her as he could. His legs took off in a soft run at first but quickly turned into a supernatural sprint that had his lungs aching for air. All he could do was run.
Soon enough, the scenery of houses and cars turned into trees and bushes. Leaves crunched under his feet, and branches snapped as he stepped on them. Even when a rock stood in his way and threatened to make him lose his balance, he simply kept running.
He wished (Y/N) knew that what he did had been for her own good. If she wasn’t by his side, there was no way she could be used as a bargaining chip. Especially not with Peter back. He didn’t trust his own life in the hands of his uncle; how could he entrust him with (Y/N)’s?
By the time he had reached his family’s house, his body ached all over. Frustration filled his veins, and his limbs ached with the need for violence. He let out an exasperating scream before his fist went through a wooden board. He didn’t know if he wanted to keep breaking down the house or just sit down and cry. As much as he wanted to be by (Y/N)’s side, he knew that the best thing for her would be for him to stay as far away as possible. He had lived long enough with loneliness, though none as hurtful as this one for a long time. (Y/N) would soon enough move on from him, and he’d be the one to carry the hurt. As long as Peter was in town and her family would punish her for her affiliations, he’d just have to stay away.

Being Jackson Whittemore’s Younger Sister Would Include…
Tumblr media
Being born about two years after he was adopted, and him going immediately into protective older brother mode
Watching over your crib while you were asleep
Helping your mum calm you down when you were crying
Going to pre-school together
You sticking next to him until you got home
Him defending you if any of your classmates was being mean to you
Him helping you make new friends
Sneaking into his room at night if you had a nightmare
Him calming you down and soothing you back to sleep
Stealing his clothes
Driving you to school every morning until you got your license
Teaching you how to drive
Stealing his Porsche until your parents bought you your own
Becoming best friends with Lydia
Helping her choose her outfits for their dates
Helping Jackson with gift shopping for their anniversary
Confronting Jackson when he was being an asshole to her
Joking about Lydia dumping him and dating you instead
Supporting him during his lacrosse games
Mat having a crush on you and Jackson threatening to beat the shit out of him if he dared to approach you
Danny backing him up
You having a thing for Danny until you found out he’s not into girls
Jackson trying to protect you from himself once he started losing control over his shifting
You realizing he is the Kanima before anyone else
Him promising he will call and text you every day before leaving Beacon Hills
Him booking you tickets to visit him in London once a month
You being the first to find out about Ethan
Going to dinner dates with them during your visits
Warning him about Gerald’s Hunters going after them
Helping them get free after Tamora captured them
Moving to London with them eventually

scackson brokeback mountain au except it's got that sprinkling of mostly one-sided enemies to lovers trope. Jackson just hates Scott at first just because he can and also as a tactic to hide his ✨true✨ feelings towards Scott.
Not a great idea if he's spending a whole summer up in the mountains with Scott and no one else but sheep, but hey! the plan works!! for just 16 days....because on day 17 they both get stupid drunk and have sex and they just can't stop thinking about each other and loving each other and thinking about each other and loving each other and

Imagine being a werecat and healing the scratch on the back of Jackson’s neck by lapping at it.
“I thought,” he sighed, closing his eyes as the pain and tension floated away, “I thought cats’ tongues were supposed to be sandpapery.”
You paused. “Do you want it to be?”
Suddenly your own nape was being touched by something warm. Jackson impatiently pressed your head down. Fingers curling against your skin.
Your tongue isn’t for talking right now.
As if it weren’t enough that he requested you lie atop his prone body.

My Future
Derek Hale x OC
Samantha, Stiles and Scott are always joking about the impossible. Who wouldn't when your best friend's dad is the sheriff of Beacon Hills? All jokes stop when they realize the impossible is indeed possible.

Chapter 42: Disagreements Among Friends
The next day Sam met up with Stiles at his locker. He seemed to be in a frenzy and rushed to put things in his backpack.
He pulled out his phone then quickly dialed Lydia’s number as he and Sam ran down the stairs. "Lydia, for the love of God, answer your phone. There's another dead Chimera.”, he muttered in annoyance.
That crossed Carl Smith off the list of dead chimeras. So what was he? How'd he break out?
“What!?”, Sam looked at him in disbelief. "So right now, is probably not a great time to be alone with Parrish.", he said.
"If he's coming to get the body, you can't get in his way.", he said into the phone. "Lydia, do not get in his way.", he said and hung up.
"What the fuck is happening?", Sam asked Stiles. "Corey is dead.", he said. "The Dread Doctors got him. They've also killed Beth."
Sam couldn’t believe it. Beings that they couldn’t touch were killing people left and right without a purpose…
They hadn’t heard from Scott in a while as the sky began to darken and pelt rain. “We gotta go to the animal clinic.”, Stiles said, putting down his phone in the center console. "Turns out Hayden got injected with mercury from the Dread Doctors."
Sam frowned sadly. She heard about Liam's interest in Hayden. His interest quickly turned into love and now she was practically dying.
Once they got to the animal clinic, Stiles quickly got out, meeting up with a distraught Scott. "Sorry.", he said to Scott, "I had trouble starting the Jeep again. That thing's barely hanging on." Scott didn’t say anything. "I couldn't get in touch with Malia or Lydia."
Scott stared at him in silence. “Scott.”, Sam spoke up. Stiles faced Scott in confusion.
Scott took a wrench out of his jacket. He handed it to Stiles, who frowned.
"Where did you get that?", Stiles asked.
"This is yours?", Scott questioned. Stiles sighed and grabbed it. "Why didn't you tell me?", Scott asked.
"I was going to.", Stiles said. "I didn't know how to bring it up.”, he said, making Sam understand what Scott was talking about. He found out? How? From who?
Scott shook his head, "Why didn't you tell me when it happened?" Stiles looked at the wrench, "I couldn't."
"You killed him?", Scott said. "You killed Donovan?"
"Scott, he had to defend himself.", Sam countered. Scott looked at Sam in disbelief. “You knew?"
"Scott, he was going to kill my dad.", Stiles said, appalled at Scott’s behavior. "Was I supposed to just let him?"
"You weren't supposed to do this.", Scott said. Stiles looked at him sullenly. "None of us are. It happened once but should've never happened again.", Scott said.
Stiles just stared in disbelief, "You think I had a choice?"
"There's always a choice.", Scott said. “Scott, are you shitting me?”, Sam fussed in disbelief.
"Yeah, well, I can't do what you can, Scott.", Stiles yelled. "I know you wouldn't have done it. You probably would've just figured something out, right?"
Scott shrugged, "I'd try."
"Yeah, because you're Scott McCall!", Stiles yelled, angrily. "You're the true Alpha! Guess what? All of us can't be true Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes. Some of us have to get our hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human!"
"So, you had to kill him?", Scott asked.
Stiles stared at him in shock, "Scott, he was going to kill my dad."
"But the way that it happened…" Scott trailed off, "There's a point when it's…It's not just self-defense anymore!" The two stared back at the alpha in confusion.
"What are you even talking about?", Stiles yelled back. "I didn't have a choice, Scott!" Stiles shook his head, "You don't even believe me, do you?"
Scott nodded as he said, "I want to." Stiles’ shoulders lowered. "Okay, all right, so – so believe me then." Scott looked away and didn't reply. "Scott, say you believe me.", Stiles repeated, hurt.
Scott glanced at Sam as she glared at him in disbelief. "Say it." Stiles teared up. "Say you believe me."
"Stiles, we can't kill people that we're trying to save!", Scott yelled.
"Say you believe me.", Stiles repeated as he took a step towards Scott with the wrench in his hand.
Scott took a step back as he glanced over at the wrench that Stiles was holding. Stiles looked down at it, almost shocking himself. "We can't kill people!", Scott exclaimed. "Do you believe that?"
"Well, what do I do about this?", Stiles' voice broke. Scott shook his head, "Don't worry about Malia or Lydia. We'll find them. Maybe – Maybe you should talk to your dad."
Scott began to walk inside the clinic and Sam followed him. “You are out of your fucking mind.”, she growled.
Scott’s eyes trailed behind her and she quickly turned around to see Theo standing in the shadows. “I saw them.”, he said and Sam’s eyes widened.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.”, Scott frowned.
Sam looked at him with raised eyebrows. “Scott, you– The nerve you have is wild.”, she scoffed. “How the fuck did you even find out?”
She glared at the boy. What the hell was Theo's problem? Why was he determined to make Stiles an enemy? How'd he go from helping Stiles to making him look bad?
Before he could say any more, Sam raised a hand to stop him. “You saw them, and you didn’t think to tell anyone that Donovan was attacking him? You were there and didn’t think to help?”
Theo frowned. “I saw Stiles attacking Donovan.”
"This is how I know you’re lying. Stiles came to my house to explain everything and I even looked into his memories. Donovan attacked him first.”, she said, shocking Theo before turning to Scott. “And you. I can’t believe you.”
“We still can’t kill, Sam. I’m your alpha. You know this isn’t what we do.”, Scott said, making Sam’s eyebrows raise in challenge once more.
“You may be an alpha, Scott, but you’re not the alpha. And if you were such an alpha, the first thing that should run through your mind was the fact that someone attacked your packmate while you weren't there. That’s what alphas do. They care about those in their packs.”, she said, making Scott look down in shame.
“You know Stiles as much as I do. That boy doesn’t go around attacking people without a reason. Why are you acting like you don’t know him?”
She pointed at Theo. “He’s not even in the pack and yet you’ve been doing what he’s said for a while now. Why is that, alpha?”
Scott had nothing to say. Sam shook her head in disappointment. “When you get your head out of your ass, let me know.”, she said before leaving and finding Stiles resting his face in his hand as he sat in his jeep.
She climbed into the jeep, making Stiles look at her with reddened eyes. She sighed sadly. She didn’t wanna see her boys like this. It was unfair on both sides. All because of Theo, she knew something was up with him.
She pulled Stiles into a hug. "I'm sorry about Scott." He shook his head, "I just– I don’t understand. It’s unfair…"
She nodded and rubbed his back. “I know.”
Stiles dropped Sam off at home and she walked up to her driveway. She paused as she heard rustling and hid in the shadows of her porch to find the source of the noise.
As she snuck around her porch, she saw a huge figure in the trees ahead of her. Her heart dropped at how huge the figure was. It reminded her of Peter, but it made no sense. Peter wasn't an alpha anymore and he couldn't turn into a huge beast now that his alpha spark was taken away.
What the hell was she looking at?
She could hear aggressive sniffing as if the beast was sniffing out for someone. The only person that was with it was Sam.
She frowned as it got closer and she took a step back. She placed a hand on a shadowed part of her porch and noticed her hand phased into the shadow.
She could hear the sniffing get closer and took the chance of phasing into the shadow before the beast could catch her.
She watched as the huge beast practically filled her porch as it sniffed around. She hoped her mom wouldn't come home with this thing hunting whatever it was looking for.
After a couple of minutes, it left and Sam exited the darkness, letting out a sigh as she looked around her porch where the monster previously was. The hell was that…?
Before she could make any moves, she felt a prick at the back of her neck. She swung an arm to hit whatever it was behind her but missed, completely unbalanced and unfocused as she realized what was happening.
Someone was after her. Was it the dread doctors? Seriously, now of all times?
When she shifted her weight onto the wall of her house, she looked up to see a familiar outline of a girl.
Lightning cracked and she could see a familiar wet face.
Tracy.
Sam's vision blurred and her words were dragged. She felt almost numb and very heavy as she weakly glared at the girl. "You were s'posed t'be ded…"
Tracy didn't say anything before Sam finally passed out.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Stiles followed Parrish, and ended up in the impound lot. Stiles hid behind the cars, crouching as he was watching Parrish find a white van. He opened up the hack revealing two body thermal caskets. He opened up the one, revealing Corey's body. Parrish closed the back of the van and got into the driver's seat, started the car and left.
The moment he was gone, Stiles got out his phone, calling Theo, and the others but no one answered him.
Stiles sighed, still trying to call him, listening to the dial ring on his phone as he heard gravel being stepped on and headlight beaming. He turned to see Theo's truck pull up, and got off his phone once he saw Theo getting out. "Sorry! got here as fast as I could…"
"We gotta go. Now.", Stiles said, heading for the walking around to the passenger seat. "Parrish has the bodies."
*Parrish is out and he's got the bodies. We've got to find Scott.", Stiles rushed. He pulled open the door, about to get in. "And we gotta tell him."
"Okay, wait up Stiles, wait." Theo looked at him as he stood in front of his car.
"Stiles!" Theo shouted, making him stop, eyeing him as he shut the door.
"I don't think Scott wants to talk to you right now.", Theo says. "Yeah, thanks, I'm aware of that. It doesn't matter.", Stiles dismissed, reaching for the door handle. "He needs to know about this."
"Stiles, Scott doesn't want to talk to you.", Theo repeated, smirking. Stiles frowned.
"But I think your dad does.", Theo said, pulling out an id and turned away from Stiles. "Your dad was looking for you, Stiles. He found me instead."
Stiles walked up to him. "Where is he?"
Theo glanced over his shoulder at him. "I covered for you." He flashed an ID card. "This was taken care of. If Melissa didn't find it at the hospital… Guess even the son of a cop can make mistakes."
"Did you hurt him?", Stiles asked, glaring at him.
Theo's smirk widened. "The better question is… what is Sam really?"
Stiles' head tilted a bit. He read Theo's expression which made Stiles' heart pick up in pace as he grew angry. Sam hadn't answered his phone call. She usually does. She only refuses to pick it up to text him that she was busy.
"What did you do to her?"
Theo seemed pleased at his growing scent of anger. "Even though we worked together for a short while, you two have held vital information from me about Sam. I know about Lydia. I know about Malia and Liam. I even know bits and pieces here and there about that hunter."
Theo shrugged. "But no one really told me about Sam until I had to talk to Scott about it."
He started circling around Stiles. "I learned a little something about her. She can change the sky from day to night. She can look into people's memories. Scott even said she can control shadows despite being a werewolf too. And was even affected by the Nogitsune as well.", he grinned widely. "That's perfect. I need that."
"What do you want?", Stiles gritted.
"I came for the Banshee, the girl surrounded by death. I came for the dark Kitsune, the Beta with anger issues. I came for Void Stiles and whatever Sam seems to be, it's just icing on the cake. That's the pack I want. Unfortunately, it doesn't include Scott."
Theo gave a sigh of fake disappointment. "Though, I'm sure Sam isn't gonna willingly talk so I had to make a couple of arrangements."
Stiles' eyes darkened. "What the fuck did you do.", he growled lowly, walking up to him. "You better not have laid a hand on her, or I swear–"
"Me? Hurt Sam? Oh, no, never.", Theo teased. Stiles was nearly trembling in fury now. He wanted to wring his hands around Theo's neck. To punch the smug look off of his face.
Theo may have been a werewolf, but Stiles couldn't keep his anger down and Theo knew.
"Your heartbeat's rising. Stiles. It's not because you're afraid. Nogitsune is gone, but you've still got more blood on your hands than any of us.", Theo said, giving Stiles a knowing look.
Stiles nodded. "I'm about to get more."
Theo laid Stiles' library card on the hood of his truck. "I'll tell you where your dad is.", he paused. "If you promise not to help Scott."
Theo gave a light shrug. "I may even let Sam go."
The last time someone used Sam as a bribe, they died. And in a rush, Stiles let his anger take over and punched Theo in his face.
Theo tumbled backwards, glancing at him with a wide grin. Stiles huffed as he burned his furious eyes on Theo.
"There he is! That's Void Stiles! Felt good, didn't it?", Theo encouraged. Stiles ignored him and punched him again, taking Theo down with him.
Stiles watched as Theo spat up blood, eyeing him, "We won't tell Scott. 'Cause you can't lose your best friend right? Even though we both know, you never needed him." Stiles let out a yell, glaring at Theo and gripping tightly onto Theo's collar.
"You hate me now, but you'll get it eventually. This is the hard part, cause you can't help Scott and save your dad's life. You've still got time, Stiles. You've still got time."
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°`
Sam groaned as her eyes struggled to open. They felt heavy and she still felt weak.
As she managed to open them, she looked around at her surroundings. It was dark and it would've been perfect for her to use her powers and escape, but…
She seemed to be in a factory somewhere or at least she thought. She couldn't tell.
"You're finally awake.", she hears and turns her head to see the Raeken boy watching her as he sat in his chair.
Sam growled weakly as she moved to stand, but couldn't as she felt her arms being restricted behind her back. Her wrists were bound in handcuffs that were chain linked to a large pipe that dwarfed her.
She was slightly shivering from being cold after last night in the rain.
"What the hell did you do to me?", Sam growled. Theo held up a small capsule filled with a liquid.
Wolfsbane.
Sam rolled her eyes. Typical.
"You and I need to have a talk, Sam.", Theo says.
“Really now?”
“I'm just curious. We worked together for a little while and you failed to give important details of you being a psychic werewolf with powers. Why? All of this could go easy if you helped a lot more than you have been."
Sam stared at Theo in bewilderment. Had Scott been blabbing his mouth to Theo? He must've not said much. Psychic werewolf? She almost wanted to laugh at the absurdity.
"Even more, you could help me. Work with me. Leave Scott. We could have our own pack that'd be way better and more powerful than Scott's pack. It's falling apart anyways.", Theo sneered.
"Theo, I don't know what type of game you think you're playing, but it's not exactly going in your favor. You're stepping into territory you may never get out of.", Sam warned.
Theo walked up to her. "You think that scares me?", he mutters before crouching in front of her.
“We’re the same, Sam. Looking for our place in a group. Wanting to feel special. Better. More powerful than everyone else."
Sam scoffed with a laugh. "Oh… Oh, you don't know a thing about me.", she rasped. "You think I wanted this? I didn't want powers. I didn't want any of this. None of us did."
"Well, I do.", Theo says, making Sam shake her head and look away from Theo. "I want a pack much better than Scott's. Lydia, Kira, Liam, Malia, Void Stiles.", Theo listed. Sam paused.
Did he–?
She looked back up at him. "Void Stiles? You–", she scoffed another laugh and shook her head. "You don't want Void Stiles. You don't know a damn thing that fucking Nogitsune did to us. He's a fox, Theo. He's cunning, smart, and very manipulative. What makes you think he's gonna work with you, let alone work for you?"
Theo stayed quiet. "This sounds like jealousy. You want a pack better than Scott's? We are Scott's pack. You're not charming your way with us. You fucked up with Stiles and you're already fucking up with me.", Sam sneered.
She shook her head once more out of frustration. "We're just kids, Theo. You're a kid. We're supposed to go to school, the fuck do you need power for?"
Theo didn't answer and Sam frowned at him.
She shook her head. “I've already found my place. We are not the same.", she said.
"I knew something when you were in the library. You changed the sky. You can control shadows.", Theo said, raising his eyebrows and making Sam's eyes widen a bit. "You can do so much more. All you have to do is work with me. You don't have to feel restricted."
"No one's restricting me.", Sam countered.
“So, you don't hate Scott?", he asked.
"No!", Sam exclaimed with wide eyes. "Far from it. He gets on my nerves, yes. I can't stand it when he's always giving shitheads like you a chance, but I don't hate him for having morals. This isn't the first time we've had a fight. We've fought over less than this. So whatever you thought you knew about me, you don't.", Sam gritted.
Theo's eyes narrowed. "I'll know soon enough.", he said before leaving the girl alone.
She could free herself. She could. That was, if she didn't feel as weak as she did. Being under wolfsbane for this long wasn't something she was used to.
It bothered her. She felt… human again.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
"What do you mean you don't know?", Stiles asked Melissa. "Two hours ago, he was fine. Now it looks like somebody took a baseball bat to his neck."
"There could've been some minor internal.", a doctor explained, making Stiles raise an eyebrow. What did that mean?
"Did you say, "minor internal"?", Stiles asked in disbelief. "Since when is anything internal minor?" They paused as they could hear the EKG monitor beeping at a normal rate now.
"Stiles.", Melissa began but he cut her off.
"I need to know what's going on with him, okay?", Stiles said worriedly. Sheriff Stillinski was unconscious, barely breathing and very pale. The veins in his neck darkened his skin as they looked all purple.
He looked sick…
"Dr. Geyer, somebody needs to tell me what's happening.", Stiles said. No one could say anything. "Somebody needs to tell me what's happening to him!", Stiles yelled.
"We don't know.", Melissa replied softly.
Stiles wanted to say something else until his attention was brought elsewhere. His eyes burned at the sight of the alpha. He slammed the door open and went towards Scott.
Stiles grabbed Scott and slammed him into a wall. Scott groaned in pain as they both fell onto the ground.
"Where were you?", Stiles asked. Melissa and one of the cops ran towards them. "You trusted him. You believed him and now he has Sam, right?", Stiles fussed. Scott groaned in pain.
Stiles was nearly growling. "Where were you!?", Stiles yelled as he held onto Scott's collar.
"Hey, hey, hey!", Melissa yelled as she ran towards them. "Where the hell were you!?", Stiles exclaimed, angrily.
The doctor managed to get Stiles' off Scott and Melissa helped Scott get up.
Stiles struggled to get out of their grip. "Okay, okay, all right.", he exclaimed and huffed. Stiles was breathing heavily as he just stared at Scott.
"Your dad's not the only one who got hurt." Scott said.
Stiles glared. "Oh, you'll heal.", Stiles said sarcastically.
"I'm not talking about me.", Scott said.
"It's Lydia.", Scott said. Stiles’ expression changed drastically. “Where is she?" The doctor and the cop let him go. Scott looked at the doctor and nodded then motioned to Stiles to follow him.
Scott looked at Stiles as he arrived and walked into an empty room where there were a bunch of medications and supplies.
Stiles, Scott, Melissa, and Parrish were standing around the metallic table. "What happened?", Melissa asked. "I'm pretty sure Lydia had claw marks behind her neck.", Stiles said, shocking the woman. That meant Theo or another werewolf tried to get in her head to see memories.
"It could be a side effect of shock.", Parrish said. "She's catatonic," Stiles clarified, then he looked over at Scott. "It was Theo digging his way through her mind."
"Why would he do that?", Melissa asked.
"He's looking for something," Scott said. His mom nodded, "But what exactly?", she asked.
"The same thing he's always looking for.", Scott said.
"An advantage," Scott said. He was looking for that from the start.
Parrish looked confused. "So what did he gain by trying to kill Stilinski?"
"It left me alone with Liam.", Scott said frowned. "Theo wanted to make sure no one would be there to stop him from killing me."
"Okay, so he gutted my dad as a distraction," Stiles stated and they nodded. "We need to find this kid.", Parrish said, frowning.
Melissa disagreed, "Isn't that a little dangerous? Especially since he almost killed my son." Stiles shook his head. "Yeah, but he said he didn't want my dad to die.", Stiles declared.
"And you believe him?", Parrish asked. "He told me where to find him and Sam.", Stiles said. "So, maybe he also knows how to save my dad."
"What do you want to do?", Melissa questioned. "Talk to him?"
Stiles spoke without hesitation. "If it saves my dad, then yeah."
"I can come with you. He doesn't know that I'm alive.", Scott said. "Maybe that gives us an advantage."
Stiles shook his head, "He'll know you're there. I just need to talk to him. Not fight him."
He started to leave but stopped when Scott’s mom spoke up, "Stiles," he turned to look at Melissa. "You can't go alone."
Parrish sighed, frustrated, "Does anyone even know how to find him?"
"We don't have to find him.", Stiles replied with a deep frown. "He'll come to me."

CHAPTER ONE: SEARCHING
“… In other news, two men have found half of the body of a girl, who is yet to be identified, while jogging through the Beacon Hills’ preserve. The Beacon County Department and the State Police are currently on the scene searching for the other half and perhaps for something that could lead them to solve this horrifying mystery…”
“Bryson, can you please just change the channel already?” Karen groaned from the other side of the couch. Her head was propped up on her hand and she looked like she was about to die of boredom soon.
Bryson ignored her.
“Since when are you even interested in watching the news?”
“Since there’s been a killer on the loose around Beacon Hills,” He answered without taking his eyes off the screen. "Honestly, Karen, aren't you the least bothered by this?”
“I'm more bothered by the fact that Jersey Shore is on right now and I'm missing it thanks to you. You have your own TV upstairs, you know.”
“You do, too!"
"Well, I want to use this one.”
"So do I—"
“Mom,” I called to her, loud enough so she could hear me from the kitchen. "they’re fighting, again!”
Seconds later, she appeared and stood behind the couch, drying her hands with a piece of white cloth and looking annoyed. "Are you guys seriously doing this right now? On pasta night? While I'm making Carbonara for all of you to enjoy?”
Karen and Bryson looked at each other for a brief moment. "We were just about to solve the issue, mom.” Bryson told her.
"Yeah," Karen added before glaring at me. "Penny just had to go and open her big dumb mouth.”
I raised my hands up in defense. "Look, I'm just trying to watch TV without you guys arguing over the stupidest thing for once.”
"Fine," she folded her arms across her chest. Through the corner of my eye, I saw mom rolling her eyes and walking back to the kitchen. I could’ve sworn I heard her mumbling something under her breath. "Then, maybe you should go to your room.”
"Yeah, and leave us alone, won’t you?” Bryson backed her up.
I stared at them in disbelief. "Are you kidding me? I was here first!”
Both of them shrugged at the same time.
“And I'm the oldest.”
"Well, there’s two of us so if you sum up our ages we’re actually way older than you.” Bryson said. Karen was nodding in agreement, both of them looking like they’d just won a long-running debate.
Was this a twin thing, when one moment they were arguing over something so insignificant and the next they were just working together to go against their oldest sibling? If it was, then I guess I would never understand, but I was sure of something: it was fucking annoying.
“You know what? Fine,” I threw the cushion I was holding onto aside and stood up. "I'll leave before there’s a second killer on the loose.”
As lame as it sounded, that was what my life consisted of on a daily basis. It was never something interesting or new, but I had learned to live with it. I had to, or I probably would’ve gone insane by now.
When I found a random low budget horror movie while browsing through the internet, I threw myself on the bed and got comfortable. Twenty minutes into the movie, and my eyelids began to droop. Either the movie was too shitty for me to stay awake or it was getting late. Regardless, I tried my best to get through it… with no success.
Just as I was finally giving in to sleep, though, I heard a tapping on my window. Jumping on my spot by the sudden sound, I craned my head to take a better look. My first thought was that maybe I had imagined it; it seemed like the most logical thing.
The room was dark and the sky was too, but somehow I managed to make out the figure of someone staring back at me through the glass and my heart almost leaped out of my chest. I rubbed my eyes just in case I was just dreaming, and then I pinched myself for reassurance but even now when I was wide awake the figure was still there.
My body froze and my mind went completely blank; I did not know what to do. What would a person have to do in a situation like this? Could I try and crawl my way out of the room? Should I have made a run for it instead? Could I scream until someone came to the rescue? (Would they even rescue me?) Or could I just simply stay there and fight back?
All of those thoughts were running wild through my head and yet my body was still not responding.
The person tapped on the glass a few more times and I jumped once again. This time, I managed to stand up from my bed, slowly but surely. My eyes never left the figure in case they tried anything to break in, and even though I tried to stay strong my legs were shaking harder with every clumsy step that I took.
When I stood in the middle of the room, the face of the person became much clearer. It was a guy —someone I knew. Someone I knew very well, in fact.
He saw me  staring and waved, his white teeth sticking out in the darkness. I let out a breath that I didn't even realize I was holding and went to pause the movie. When I opened the window, I glared at him. "Scott, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”
He was still grinning. "Visiting.”
"You know, a normal person would just knock on someone’s door instead of climbing up on their window and almost giving them a heart attack."
“This was easier, though.” He said, as I stepped aside to let him in.
I quirked a brow. "It’s easier to climb a window than to knock on a door?”
"Well, it got me to your room faster and it avoided me having to explain to your mom why I’m here at this hour and on such a short notice.” Scott sat down on the edge of my bed.
“What are you doing here?”
“I need to borrow your baseball bat.”
I stared at him blankly. "You came all the way to borrow my bat?”
"Mine’s not as sturdy." He explained before glancing at my computer screen, where the movie was still paused. " And I see you’re…. watching a crappy looking movie, where apparently the killer is a—" He did a double, furrowing his eyebrows. "—man in a bunny suit?"
"Yeah," I smiled and batted my eyelashes exaggeratedly. "Want to join me?"
He sighed dramatically as I opened the closet door, grabbing the baseball bat he was looking for. It was my special metal bat, used only for emergencies and drastic situations. It also worked for threats. ''It sounds very, very tempting, but we were just passing by. We can’t stay out for too long, anyways.''
I gave him a confused look while handing him the bat. "We?”
"Stiles is outside."
“Of course, I should’ve known,” I rolled my eyes. ''And why did you guys make plans without me?"
He shrugged. "We're just going to take a late night walk through the preserve. No big deal,  nothing interesting."
I closed my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Please don’t tell me that you guys are stupid enough to go and look for the missing body…”
Scott didn't say anything, but one look at him told me everything that I needed to know.
“Did Stiles come up with this idea?” I asked him.
He scratched the back of his neck uncomfortably. "Maybe.”
I groaned. "How many times have I told you not to go through with what Stiles tells you?”
"We’ll only be looking for a few minutes, I promise.” He said quickly.
“There is something out there, Scott,” I argued. "A girl is missing half of her body—”
"But we’ll be fine,” Scott cut me off. "And besides, It’s not like we’re going to be alone, Stiles’ dad is also helping with the search.”
I narrowed my eyes at him and scoffed. "Yeah, and I'm sure that Sheriff Stilinski will really appreciate you and Stiles being there.”
“He will once we successfully locate the body.” He smiled proudly. I must’ve not looked too convinced still because he then grabbed me by the shoulders in a reassuring way. It sent an involuntary bolt of electricity all over my body.
I guess I forgot to mention that this is the cliché story of a girl who had a huge crush on her best friend. A crush that she has had on him since elementary school, but he had ever noticed because he was too much of an idiot.
“Trust me, please?” Scott said, looking at me with those sweet brown eyes that make me melt every single freaking time.
I sighed in defeat. "I... trust you. I don’t trust Stiles, though.”
He chuckled. "You love him.”
"Yeah, but trusting him is hard a lot of times.”
"Okay, but I’m not, right?” He smiled innocently.
I hesitated before saying, "Of course not.”
At the end of the day, however, both of them were equally as dumb in my eyes; I trusted neither of them when it came to making important decisions. Besides, they were boys.
“Good,” Scott said. "So, I'll see you tomorrow, then."
I gave a small shrug. ''Sure, It’s not like I’ll be doing anything else. Poor Penny will be here all alone, watching a movie about a killer bunny man, and then she’ll go to school tomorrow because she actually follows the rules and has a sense of logic.''
"Okay, now you’re just being dramatic.” He rolled his eyes and I laughed.
At that same time, a very familiar voice was heard from outside. ''Scott, hurry up, we're leaving!''
Scott looked out the window. "I'm coming!"
"That's the devil's voice, Scott, I’m telling you, you should not listen to it.”
“Again, dramatic,” He said after he turned back to me. ''I better go.''
I nodded. Whatever happened to them from that point forward would be their own fault. ''See you tomorrow... if you're not dead by then.''
"Yeah, okay," He chuckled, kissing my cheek. ''Bye, Penny.''
''Bye.''
And with one last smile, he stepped out of the room and climbed down, bat still in hand. When I looked out the window, Scott and Stiles were already out of sight. I sighed, reaching for the spot where his lips were still tingling in my skin. Scott would often do those little things —kiss my cheek, hold my hand, wrap an arm around my shoulders— where he had me questioning if maybe, just maybe, he felt the same way. It would never get anywhere, though, but I still remained hopeful that in a future he would realize that he had feelings for me, too. It wouldn’t kill me being this hopeful, even after all these years, right?
Before heading back to bed, I made sure to close the curtains this time. I was not up for another jump scare, unless it was from the crappy movie that I was watching.
When I finally decided to resume watching it, I found it hard to concentrate due to the constant worrying going around in my head. I just hope they’re okay…

A/N:  my brain broke trying to figure out the Sheriff Station's layout, and I'm still not sure how it works. I swear, continuity and timelines are Jeff Davis' downfall 🫠🫠

The drive hadn’t been long, and it had been just what (Y/N) needed. After feeling like she was suffocating in the hospital, telling her uncle and cousin how sorry she was for their loss and if they needed anything just to ask her, she told her father she’d meet him back at the house and all but sprinted out of the building. The fluorescent lights had birthed a pounding headache into her head, the cries only working to see it further into her brain. She needed to get out before her lungs were soon to follow in the malfunction.
She killed the engine and the light of her motorcycle when she saw him waiting for her outside of the building, his arms already outstretched for the hug she desperately needed. “You okay?” he asked as she crashed into his body. “You don’t look so good.”
“I fucked up, Isaac,” she sighed into his chest. “And you don’t look good either.”
“Yeah, well, I just went through a gruesome transformation under the full moon,” he chuckled softly. “What’s your excuse?”
“My aunt just killed herself, and it was, in part, because of me.”
“Well, okay. You win.” He released her from his hold to find sorry strewn across the girl’s face. Dry tears cling to her skin in lines of grey and fresh ones threatened to spill from her reddened eyes. “Tell me what happened. Why do you think it’s your fault, (Y/N)?”
“The night of the rave, when Derek and I left to get Scott, we found my aunt Victoria slowly killing him with a vaporized version of wolfsbane,” she started. “I thought about fighting her for a second. I’ve been trained well enough that I could have possibly come out alive from that fight, but Derek told me to get Scott —make sure he was okay and, most importantly, not dead. They fought for a bit as I got Scott off the floor, and then, all of a sudden, she was gone. After that, when we were in the vet's office, he told me he bit her deep enough that she would turn on the next full moon.”
“Tonight,” Isaac affirmed. “I haven’t heard either of you do anything wrong yet, (Y/N).”
“A hunter being bitten or scratched deep enough to trigger the transformation is essentially receiving a death sentence,” (Y/N) explained, her voice trembling under the force of her worries. “Argent hunters don’t turn into werewolves, Isaac. They kill themselves before it can happen—that’s part of our code. And that’s what my aunt did tonight. My cousin lost her mother because I wasn’t strong enough to fight her.”
“Hey, that’s not your fault, (Y/N).”
“Why does everyone keep saying that?” she exclaimed. “I had the chance to make things different, and I didn’t. How is that not my fault?”
“Let me ask you this, did you bite here?”
“Isaac…”
“Did you?”
“No,” she grumbled.
“Did you force her to go and kill Scott?”
“Of course not.”
“And did you kill her tonight?”
“No, but…”
“There are no buts,” Isaac affirmed, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her out of her head. “You didn’t do anything wrong, (Y/N). You were in the middle of a difficult situation and made a decision. That’s it. Just like Victoria decided to kill Scott, you decided to save him. And have you ever thought what would have happened if you had been the one to fight her? What if your training isn’t as good as you thought, and hers was better? Maybe there would have been two bodies in the morgue rather than one.”
“It’s just… seeing Allison and my uncle break down in front of me broke me, Isaac.” The breath she took stammered as the weight of the night fell on her shoulders. Guilt and sadness gripped her body, sinking their claws into her skin and digging themselves a home in her body. “And for some reason, Victoria protected me. She didn’t tell anyone that I had been in the room that night.”
“How did you know she didn’t?”
“Well, firstly, I doubt they would have allowed me to still be here,” she sighed. “And, somehow, I just know. Like I can feel it.”
“Then why are you still feeling guilty? You did absolutely nothing wrong.”
“And yet, Ali now doesn’t have a mother.”
“Because your family goes by really fucked up rules. I mean, sure, being a wolf isn’t all it’s chucked up to be, but it’s not enough to Jill yourself over,” Isaac retorted. “Whatever happened tonight was your aunt’s decision and hers alone. You saved someone she was killing. No one’s punishing you for that.”
(Y/N) dropped to the ground and crossed her legs under her, leaning her back against the concrete wall of the abandoned building. “Sometimes I just feel like every decision I make sets off a domino effect that I can’t control,” she said as Isaac sat beside her. “I’ve made some bad choices in my past that rippled into some pretty awful consequences, and it seems that things aren’t much different here. I just don’t want something worse to happen. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt because of me.”
“No one’s gotten hurt because of you, (Y/N). People make decisions. They make their own choices, and consequences follow. Whether good or bad, something will happen. And just because you are somehow involved in their lives doesn’t mean it’s your fault.” Isaac took her hand in his, running his thumb across her knuckles in a soothing manner. “You know, I found an anchor tonight. Something to tether me to my humanity during the full moon. I told Derek I used the thought of my father as my I don’t know anchor—the father he was before he became the thing of nightmares.”
“Why did you lie?”
He chuckled softly as she rested her head on his shoulder. “I’m pretty sure if I told him the truth, he’d probably kill me,” he said. “It was you, (Y/N).”
“Me? Why me?”
“You’re the first person that ever saw me, (Y/N),” he smiled. “I mean, before you, I went through life just existing. I had no friends, I barely played in the team, and well, nothing at home was good. Without knowing me, you offered to help me with Chemistry and Math, and you even gave me some of your lunch—which you kept doing without giving it another thought. And the more time we spent together, the closer we got. I mean, you let me stay at your place, no questions asked, after my dad died. Even after I shifted and started acting like an ass, you still cared about me. I haven’t had that in a while.”
“If it’s any consolation, I haven’t had a friend in a very long time,” she chuckled. “But, honestly, I’m very glad that it’s you. Not that I have anything against anyone else, but there’s something about you, kid.”
“I’m only a year younger than you,” he laughed, bumping her with his shoulder. “But I am glad I met you, (Y/N). Beacon Hills would have never been the same without you.”
“Well, I’m glad my parents chose this to be our forever home,” the girl smiled as she hugged Isaac’s arm. “I don’t know what I would do without an Isaac Lahey in my life.”
“Thankfully, we don’t have to know,” he chuckled. “And not that I’m ungrateful or anything, but why are you here? I thought you’d be with Derek.”
“Well, not to make you feel bad, but he wasn’t picking up his phone,” (Y/N) shrugged. “I honestly thought he’d be here with you.”
“No, he left a little after tying me up. I thought he left to go see you.”
“He hasn’t even returned my calls,” the girl worried. She lifted her legs slightly and pulled out her phone from her pocket, confirming that Derek had not even texted back. With Isaac not knowing where he was either, worry built inside (Y/N). She chewed on her nails as she let the phone ring and ring, screaming out of frustration when he did not answer. “Something’s wrong. It has to be.”
“Don’t go there. Just keep trying his phone.”
She kept calling his number, getting missed call after missed call, until finally, the call went through. “Derek?” she exclaimed. “Are you okay?’
“Oh, this isn’t Derek,” a voice she sort of recognized answered. “He’s sort of unable to get to the phone right now. But the constant ringing was making me very irritated.”
“Matt? Why do you have Derek’s phone?”
“Well, he’s sort of my hostage.”
(Y/N) wanted to gasp, let fear take over her actions as she received information. But she couldn’t. Not if what she believed was true. “You’re the one controlling the Kanima,” she said. “You’re the one that’s been killing people. Why?”
“Ugh, I would hate to have to repeat the story,” he groaned. “Why don’t you come here, to the sheriff's station? We could all have a little chat.”
“Leave her out of this,” she heard Scott grumble through the phone. And if he was there, (Y/N) didn’t want to know who else he had taken hostage. “Don’t come, (Y/N).”
“Come on, Scott. The more the merrier,” Matt taunted. “Maybe you could bring your cousin here. I really need to talk to her. She broke my heart, you know.”
“What game are you playing, Matt? What do you get out of all of this?”
“Come here and find out.” She could see the devilish smile spreading across his face, his eyes roaming over everyone who was in the station. Scott was there, which could only mean that Stiles also was. With Matt came Jackson. And Derek. But she couldn’t help but feel there were more people there. “Say bye, everyone.”
“(Y/N), don…”
Derek’s strained voice was the last thing she heard before the phone went dead, the hang-up tone filling her ear. She scrambled to her feet as she pulled the keys of her bike from her pocket, hurrying toward her motorcycle as she spoke to Isaac. “Okay, you need to stay with Boyd and Erica, make sure you guys are safe and have a way to communicate,” she instructed, her mind running a million miles a minute. “You need to stay far away from the police station, but you need to make sure your phone is still on.”
“You’re not going there by yourself, (Y/N),” Isaac argued. “Erica and Boyd can hide. I’m going with you.”
“Absolutely not, Isaac. I’m the only one that can go. I’m immune.”
“But you’re not invincible. You still bleed and hurt like everyone else. You can get hurt.”
“And you can get paralyzed.” The rest of her words died in her throat as her phone vibrated with a text from her father. The hunters knew who was inside the station and they were going in for the attack with Allison leading the way. “Look,” she said, showing him her screen. “You need to stay hidden, Isaac. If you get in the way, Allison is sure to kill you. She’s on a rampage.”
“And what do you think will happen to you?”
“She doesn’t know I was there.”
“But she will know when you protect Derek. Even your dad told you to stay away.”
“Allison wouldn’t kill me.”
“How do you know?”
His words swam through her head, and, truthfully, she had no way of knowing if Allison would turn on her. She had seen firsthand how her cousin was fine with being passive-aggressive toward her, and she knew the sting of her words. But could she ever go as far as to hurt her? She had just lost her mother, and (Y/N) couldn’t have a single clue what was running through her head.
She could bide the words of Derek, Scott, and her father. They were worried, she knew that. But people’s lives were at stake, and she didn’t think she could just sit idly by. Especially not with Allison having an open season for Derek. If she could at least help him, she had to try.
“Think about it, (Y/N),” Isaac tried to reason one last time. “You have no idea what you’re walking into here. And you shouldn’t be going alone.”
“I have to help, Isaac. And you need to hide,” she restated. “If you guys need a place to lay low where no one will think you would be, lock yourselves in my room. The window is open, and no one would expect you to be there. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“(Y/N)…”
“I promise I’ll be careful, okay? I just need to know that you’ll be safe.”
“Do you at least have a weapon on you? You’re sort of facing a lizard person and a killer, so I don’t think your fists are gonna be enough.”
With a grin on her face, she lifted the back of her shirt, exposing the gun that had been tucked away in the waist of her jeans. Then, she lifted the leg of her pants to show the knife holster on her ankle. “I never leave the house unprepared, Isaac,” she said. “And well, my dad gave me the gun before I left the hospital. Just in case. You do know there’s a lizard man running rampant around town.”
“Just be safe, (Y/N),” Isaac sighed as he wrapped her in a hug. “And let me know as soon as you’re out of the police station.”
“I will,” she assured. “Get to my house. Lock the door to my room. If Brody gets angsty just get him a treat from my bookcase. I’ll knock three times so you know it’s me, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Stay safe, Lahey.”
“You too, Argent.”
(Y/N) sped as fast as she could toward the station, thankful that she had beaten the hunters there. Just not for too long.
As she killed the engine of her bike and hid it from view, black SUVs rolled into the parking lot. Hunters jumped out of the cars, guns strapped to their chests. Two of them rounded the building, probably to kill the power, while two more stood with Gerard, aiming at the station’s windows.
There were only two things (Y/N) could do. She could remain hidden and somehow sneak past the hunters and into the building, or she could pretend that she was meant to meet there with them. For some reason, she chose the latter.
“Ah, (Y/N),” Gerard was the first one to see her as she neared the group. “I’m glad to see you here. I assume Henry has brought you up to date.”
“Yeah. That’s why I’m here.”
“And where were you? I assumed you would meet us at Chris’ home.”
“I was almost back home when dad texted. Figured I’d come here where I was needed.”
“A true Argent at heart,” he smiles. The way the corners of his mouth extended sent shivers down her spine, and she thought that maybe he knew everything that had happened. But there was no chance… right? Victoria wouldn’t have confided in him… right? Those were things she could not know. “Well then, you’re with us. I assume you have something other than yourself to protect you.”
“Of course,” she replied, pulling out her gun. “A hunter is always prepared.”
“Very good,” he chuckled proudly. “Now, we are going for Derek Hale. If anyone stands in our way… well, so be it. That’s Allison’s plan.”
“So be it,” (Y/N) chorused, swallowing the fear that threatened to strangle her. “I’m ready.”
“That’s good to hear.” Suddenly, the sound of electricity being killed filled the air. Gerard turned toward the pair of hunters and instructed them to start shooting the second the power inside turned off. They let their weapons run without caring who or what they were hitting, their one goal was intimidation and fear. "Shakespeare wrote that love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs. Let’s show them some love.”
At his instruction, the same hunters released gas bombs through the shattered windows, making it easier to conceal them as they walked inside. If innocent bystanders got hurt, then so be it. It was war, nothing else mattered.
“(Y/N) and I will walk in through the front first,” Henry said. “You three follow through the back. We have no idea who else is in there right now/”
“Okay,” Allison nodded. “Be careful.”
“Of course.”
“And Derek? He’s mine.”
The words made (Y/N)’s veins burn. Allison wasn’t there to defend anyone, or even coming in to save her own boyfriend and her friend. She was there for blood. (Y/N) could see it in her eyes.
She walked alongside her father as they snuck in through the dark back door, trying their best to keep silent, her hands extended before them as they cleared the area they walked through. Her chest heaved in anticipation, and nerves ran inside her like a rampage. There was no way to know what they were walking into, but she did know who she had to walk out with.
“You go get your friend,” her father whispered. “I’ll keep moving to the back exit to join them.”
“What if they figure you out, dad?”
“I’ve been doing this for far longer than you have,” he chuckled quietly. “You don’t have to worry about me, kid.”
With a soft smile and a nod, they walked into the fog. As soon as they were out of view, (Y/N) took the front position, blinking away the sting from the smoke. “Derek?” she called out as quietly as she could. “Derek, where are you?”
Doors slammed shut and broke right after, glass and wood bursting through the ground, and all (Y/N) could hope was that none of it was masking the sound of anyone getting hurt. Well… at least not anyone she cared about.
“Derek,” she continued to call as she cleared the reception area and the front offices, trying her hardest to see through the darkness and the cloudiness. “Please, where are you?”
“Over here,” she finally heard him croak out. “I’m here.”
She followed the sound of his voice until she found him trying to lift his body with a chair. He struggled under his own weight as his limbs came back alive slowly, too slowly. “Oh god, Derek,” she said as she ran to help him up. “Your leg is bleeding.”
“I’m fine,” he groaned slightly. “Do you have a knife?”
“Excuse me?”
“I need you to stab me.”
“Are you crazy?!”
“I already triggered the healing process in my body,” he said. “I just need something to make it work faster.”
Without giving it much thought, (Y/N) slid to her ankle and pulled out her knife. “Where?” she asked before Derek pointed to his leg. “Please don’t hate me.”
She drew her arm back and punched the blade onto his thigh, her cut joining the five smaller ones he had created. A growl left his body as she pulled out the knife, his face transforming and his eyes glowing red. He breathed heavily as he steadied himself, swallowing the pain from the stab as feeling returned to the rest of his body.
“We need to get you out of here,” she said. “My family is here to kill you tonight.”
“I can’t,” he said. “I’ve gotta get to the holding cells. “There’s people that need help.”
“If Allison finds you, she’ll shoot to kill, Derek,” (Y/N) stated. “Her mom killed herself tonight, and she knows it’s because you bit her. Allison blames you for Victoria’s death.”
“I’m not leaving until they’re safe,” he retorted. “And your cousin is the least of my worries.”
“Fine,” the girl relented. She knew there was no fight to be won. The faster they rescued whoever else was in there, the faster they could go. “Lead the way.”
He took off in a fast walk down hallways and doors, keeping an arm behind him to shield (Y/N). “I’ll go for Jackson. You go for Matt,” he whispered. “Maybe we have a chance that way.”
“Jackson can’t paralyze me.”
“But he sure as hell can hurt you. Or…”
“Okay,” she stopped him. “I’ll try and get Matt.”
As they neared the cells, she could hear Scott’s mother begging for her son’s life, and all Matt could do was chastise her for not knowing what her son was. But his words soon died in his throat as Derek growled menacingly.
For a second, she believed she had him. With her gun outstretched in front of her, she walked tentatively toward Matt. His eyes flickered from side to side until, finally, they stopped beside him. Out of the darkness, the Kanima appeared and sank his claws into her arm, sending her flying against the wall. The air got knocked out of her lungs, and pain shot through her entire back.
Derek grabbed Jackson and slammed him on the desk, the distraction allowing Matt to escape. But not without (Y/N) shooting his right shoulder. Or maybe his arm. Her vision had been blurry, but she knew she had at least grazed him. The groan that had left his mouth told her so. But (Y/N) couldn’t dwell on him any longer, by the time she’d be able to work up the strength to run, he’d be long gone. What she could do was help the people in the room she was in.
Wolf and Kanima battled as they each fought for dominance, but Jackson was just too strong and too fast. His body was too close to the cell, and the girl knew she couldn’t risk shooting him. One wrong move, and she’d hit Melissa or the sheriff. All she could do was fight him head-on and hope for the best.
She slipped the knife out of her ankle once more and rushed Jackson from the back, digging the knife just below his ribs and pulling up. But all that did was anger him more. With extended claws, he slapped her across the face, sending her barreling to the ground once more. The sting from her arm didn’t even compare to the sting on her face and the bounce her head did off the ground. It was stupid to fight him hand-to-hand, but she had to at least try.
An angry growl escaped Derek as he got off the floor and saw (Y/N) holding her head. Without thinking, he ran toward Jackson, with all the intent of knocking him like he had done to her. But he used the bars of the cell to lift his body and kick Derek straight to the chest and across the room.
Suddenly, as the Kanima hissed in Melissa’s face, Scott appeared and stuck his claws into the creature's ribs and pulled him off the bars. After being unhanded, Jackson slithered out the door, possibly in search of his fleeing master.
Derek jumped over the desk that kept her from (Y/N) and helped her up before signaling to follow him. They ran through the halls, but if there was any sign of Jackson before, it was gone. “Fuck!” the man grumbled. “He’s gone.”
“I’m sorry,” she croaked. “I shouldn’t have gotten in the way. I…”
“Shh,” he interrupted.
“Derek, I…”
“There’s someone there.”
He pressed them flush against the wall, his arm draping protectively in front of her. They didn’t know who it was, but it wouldn’t take long to find out.
“What are you doing here?” Scott’s voice echoed down the hall. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.”
“Trust me, I’m aware of that.”
Gerard. A gasp threatened to escape her mouth, and (Y/N) clamped her hands on top of her mouth to muffle any sound. The last thing she would have ever guessed was that Scott was working with her grandfather.
“I’ve done everything you asked for,” Scott continued. “I joined Derek’s pack, I’ve given you all the information that you wanted, I told you Matt was controlling Jackson…”
“And leave him to us,” Gerard interjected. He told Scott everything he wanted to hear but gave away just one crucial thing. He would be the one to handle Matt and Jackson. Not the hunters. Gerard. “Go!”
Scott ran past the pair, unaware they had heard everything. Derek’s face had fallen in shame, his entire demeanor dropping as he realized he’d been betrayed. But the defeat only lasted a second as his attention turned to (Y/N).
“Are you okay?” he asked as he looked her over. Blood dripped down her cheek and her arm, and some stained the hair on the back of her head. “You’re bleeding.”
“I’m fine,” she sighed. “I’m sorry. About all of this. I…”
“Not now, okay,” he said softly. “You need to get home. Clean those wounds up. Do you feel dizzy? Nauseous?”
“No, I feel fine,” (Y/N) grumbled. “Listen, Derek.”
“I need to get you home,” he continued, still interrupting everything she had to say. “You need to go.”
“What’s going on, Derek? Is it about what Scott said? I mean…”
“No. I just…,” he sighed, but the words seemed to die in his throat as he tried to get them out. “Let’s just get you home. Did you come here on your bike?”
“Yeah.”
“Give me the keys,” Derek said, extending his hand. “I’ll drive you home and come get my car after. Are your parents there?”
“My dad’s here, and my mom’s waiting at my uncle's house.”
“Good. Let’s go.”
(Y/N) followed without much fight. Her body was filled with exhaustion, and she barely had the energy to walk to her bike. But she couldn’t help the dread that slipped into her as she clung to Derek’s waist. He wasn’t just saddened by Scott’s actions. There was a fear inside him that ran deeper than betrayal, and it scared her to think that it had anything to do with her.
