A "Righteous Gemstones" precursor, with a gay Kelvin...I mean Kevin

Greenleaf (2016-2020), on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey network, featured "The unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, dark secrets, and lies."

The megachurch is the Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, run by Bishop James Greenleaf and his wife Lady. He has three children: Executive Pastor Gigi, satellite church pastor Jacob, and music minister Charity. I haven't watched any episodes -- I don't even know what the OWN network is -- but from the episode synopses, it looks like a dark soap opera, with everyone out to get everyone else and very few broken hearts mended.

One of th Greenleafs was gay: Kevin Saterlee (Tye White), married to youngest daughter Charity. Kevin - Kelvin. Coincidence?

Uh-oh, traditionally black churches tend to be even more homophobic than evangelical churches. In Season 1, Kevin admits his same-sex feelings to his wife, and all hell breaks loose. Arguments, yelling, being rejected by the family, being told that he's going to hell, attempts to "work things out," attempts to "pray the gay away," depression, custody battles, family therapy, conversion therapy. He does finally get a boyfriend, just before he's written out of the series.

Gulp. Hey, McBride, Kelvin and Keefe don't have to kiss. Not a problem. Just keep the homophobia toned down, and don't write them out.

'The first trailer for Netflix’s new psychological thriller series Ripley is here, and it features All of Us Strangers star Andrew Scott in his most chilling role to date.

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s beloved crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley, the twisted new eight-part miniseries sees Andrew Scott take on the role of obsessive fraudster Tom Ripley.

The elusive and enigmatic scammer Ripley is hired by a rich businessman to help track down his wayward son who is believed to be living in Italy.

Yet when Ripley finally meets said son, Dickie Greenleaf, played by Lovesick actor Johnny Flynn, and his girlfriend Marge Sherwood, played by The Secret Life of Bees star Dakota Fanning, he becomes obsessed with infiltrating their social circle and adopting their lavish dolce vita lifestyle.

Or, as the official synopsis puts it, Ripley’s introduction to the wealthy young couple “is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder”.

In the first trailer of the series, which is created by Oscar-winning director and writer Steven Zaillian, Andrew Scott’s scheming begins – entirely in black and white.

The anonymous Ripley is seen stealing Dickie’s identity, lurking in the streets and hiding hauntingly in the shadows.

In one scene, he appears to be threatening Marge, while another sees him answering the question on everyone’s lips: Who is Mr Ripley?

The end of the trailer reveals that Ripley will be dropping on Netflix on 4 April this year.

Speaking to Vanity Fair in December, Scott said the role was one of the hardest for him to fulfil yet.

“It was a heavy part to play. I found it mentally and physically really hard. That’s just the truth of it,” he explained.

“I feel like you’re required to love and advocate for your characters, and your job is to go, ‘Why? What’s that?’ You don’t play the opinions, the previous attitudes that people might have about Tom Ripley.

“You have to throw all those out, try not to listen to them, and go, OK, well, I have to have the courage to create our own version and my own understanding of the character.”

As well as being an infamous novel character, Tom Ripley was previously brought to life by Matt Damon in the 1999, five-time Oscar-nominated film The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Recent queer hit Saltburn has also drawn comparisons to The Talented Mr. Ripley, as lead character Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) merges into the lives of Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi) and the rest of the Catton family, gradually deceiving them all with tragic consequences.'

Actor and businessman Lamman is renowned for his commitment to activism and the arts. As an entrepreneur and activist, he works on projects like inspirED Summer, which aims to boost summer school attendance in Atlanta. He has backed educational projects, such as the inaugural lecture series at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

Early Life, Education, and Family

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Rucker is the son of Eric Rucker and Malaya (née Ray).He is partially descended from Barbados. Rucker was raised primarily in the Washington, DC, and Maryland region. After placing in several child pageants, he developed an early interest in acting. In the fourth grade, he played Martin Luther King in his first acting role. Rucker studied at Carnegie-Mellon University and Duquesne University. He participated in the drama club in the seventh grade and went on to attend the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. for high school.

He discussed personal experiences on August 29, 2019, which he believes contributed to his success with the Hampton University football team.
