I made this silly chart because sometimes I see people posting "If they ever make another P&P movie..." and there is no question of if, only when. The story is in the public domain and people love it, so it's a no-brainer to keep remaking it forever and ever. The only shocking thing is how long it's been since we've had the last one! New P&P let's goooo!

(*I only counted English-language adaptations that take place in period, so not modern versions, or re-imaginings with zombies or anything like that. Not that I dislike those, they're just not what I'm talking about here. If they ever make one with Muppets, though, I'm counting it.)

It was twelve minutes into the new year at a Stark speakeasy and the joint was jumping, the floor crammed with gin baby socialites essaying the Charleston, mobsters clustered around tables, petty thieves circling and dipping into the pockets of the unwary; when the bullets started flying the crowd screamed and sought to scatter but the bandleader barely blinked, just led his crew full tilt into another chorus of ‘I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate’ while the singer, a svelte Sokovian songbird in a shimmering scarlet number, sidestepped a bullet that buried itself in a piano leg and kept right on crooning, All the boys in the neighbourhood know she can shimmy and it’s understood, while all hell broke loose on the dance floor.

A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Piracy

Day seven of my return to the high seas, wrote Stede in his journal. Since Lucius was no longer around to take dictation, the journal existed only in his head. Morale is low, I will not lie.

Patterns - I'm a big fan of in media res (it worked for Homer and it works for me) and so I like to start in the middle of things. I'm also trained to write hooks for people with short attention spans, so my first lines tend to be crunchy. The one exception is the first on the list, which is from speak easy, swing hard, the 1920s Prohibition-era Avengers AU I wrote for @nostalgicatsea as part of @marveltrumpshate. I wanted it to evoke the wild, chaotic tempo of a hot jazz number (something like the intro to this) so most of it is a pile-up of a long run-on sentence, and the writing continues in this fashion until Tony shows up to calm things down, whereupon the paragraphs go back to being a brief couple of lines each. I learnt this trick from seeing how translators handle action sequences in wuxia novels.

Oh, what a farce this all is! Steve had sought refuge in the Van Dynes’ gardens for the very purpose of avoiding more talk of Mr. Stark’s engagement, and avoiding Mr. Stark himself. Yet, here he stands now, prepared to make idle conversation with the man for the sake of decorum.

In which there is a secluded garden, a tangled web of misunderstandings, a man with a broken heart, another man hoping to propose marriage, and an eventual happy ending.

i’m  a  big  fan  of  mumus  and  cinematic  universes  so  anything  that  requires  us  to  create/use  more  than  just  one  muse  is  so  exciting!!!  to  me  ..  like  give  me  apartment  complex  scenarios  …  or  like.  a  band  maybe  ??  a  team  of  athletes  +  their  coaches/so’s/family  ??  maybe  even  a  murder  mystery  ..  idk  !!  the  possibilities  are  ENDLESS  !  we  can  come  up  with  so  many  different  dynamics  n  it’d  be  so  much  fun  PLEEK

in  relation  to  the  mumu  thing  i  really  really  want  a  wedding  party  mumu  verse.  like  two  of  our  characters  are  getting  married  and  our  other  characters  can  be  the  entourage  or  wedding  planners  …  !!  maybe  some  of  them  don’t  like  each  other,  maybe  some  of  them  think  the  main  couple  is  getting  married  too  fast,  mabe  others  are  exes  ?  and  we  can  plot  out  bachelor/ette  parties,  going  to  cake  tastings,  whatever  ..  !!!  

this  is  just  my  spiderverse  brain  but  give  me  superhero  plots  actually  JRKGBRJG  can  be  canon  can  be  oc  idc  !!  hero  x  hero  ?  hero  x  villain  ?  hero  x  villain  but  they’re  actually  dating  when  their  mask  is  off  ?  idk.  sounds  delicious.  give  me  more

i  also  like  royal  plots  ..  whether  modern  day  or  set  back  in  time,  whatever  works  !  like  royal  x  non-royal  plots  are  always  fun  ..  i  think  arranged  marriage  enemies  to  lovers  is  also  very  fun  ..  honestly  i  just  like  big  ball  gowns  and  walks  around  lavish  gardens  .  is  that  too  much  to  ask  for  .

life  as  we  know it vibes  ..  our  best  friends  got  married  but  we  can't  stand  each other  !  but  they  pass  away  and  we're  left  with  their  kid  to  raise  together.  lots  of  learning  to  work  through  grief  together  and  initially  hating  each  other's  guts  but  falling  in  love  n  .  having  a  small  family  together  .  aaaaah  .

for  hayden  specifically  i  really  like  the  idea  of  something  crazy  rich  asians-esque  ?  he  works  as  a  retail  worker  n  maybe  that’s  how  he  and  your  muse  met  and  hit  it  off,  and  you’ve  been  serious  for  a  while  now  and  he  ends  up  proposing  !  then  you  meet  his  family  and  surprise  he’s  actually  fawking  rich  ?  and  surprise  again  his  mom  doesnt  approve  of  u  ?  lots  of  romance  n  angst  n  anything  in  between  ..  hehe  ..  

this  is  tropey  but  i  am  a  big  ‘  fwb  to  fake  dating  to  make  our  exes  jealous  to  oh  no  i  caught  feelings  ‘  enjoyer  ..  so  something  like  this  please  !  i  would  give  my  right  arm  to  do  something  like  this  no  joke  i’m  obsessed  .  

i'm  an  absolute  jane  austen  stan  so  anything  based  on  her  novels  please  ..  pride  and  prejudice  or  emma  particularly  ??  i  just  think  it’d  be  so  fun  to  have  p&p  style  enemies  to  lovers  ..  or  emma  where  you  have  this  meddlesome  pseudo  matchmaker  n  her  exasperated  but  in  love  bf/gf  ..  ohhhh  please  …
