Actively hate the discourse against 24/7 places like I get where you're coming from but in my ideal world a lot of shit would be 24/7 just with more shifts and better pay because plenty of people prefer to work nights or have to be out at weird hours to get basic necessities for one reason or another and acting like necessary services keeping to almost a 9-5 operating hours and having multiple days closed ignores people sometimes do need things immediately and it's not all some lazy selfish desire and isn't inherently harmful to the employees

Discontinued means the comic hasn't been updated in a while, like 6 months - a year+, depending if the comic is known for long updates between as far as we can tell. This is so people who may want to read it have the right expectations, not a commentary on a well-meaning creator who wants to get back to their project. If any of the tags are in error, feel free to let us know!

NOTE: I am accepting fancomics, unless it's something like Homestuck fancomics ("fan adventures") which is so sprawling that it could have its own "have you read this". (If you have something that fits in this category that you feel deserves to be on here anyway, feel free to send an ask or message or reply with your argument, and I'll take it into consideration).

A while ago I was listening to several Harry Potter analysis podcasts and I started writing my own rewrite of the series with those in mind. I only got a chapter in, so basically the only thing in need of changing really was the fucking date. Remember, kids! If you put numbers or dates in your work, keep track of it meticulously because everyone else will!

Anyway, point being, I'm looking back on it and realizing I didn't really have a plan for what I was doing with it? Like changes you make to the story would have ripple effects, even if I'm just changing smaller things

So where do I want to go with it?

Reading the "Harry Potter but from Draco's perspective" series (I'm on book three at the moment) has really been enlightening in that regard

Like, so much work is put into that! The meticulous date corrections, the greater lore of the world and family trees, and, honestly, knowing british culture enough (I assume from being british lmao) to add even more flavor to it really makes the whole thing work so smoothly

This isn't to say that just because that work is written so well I shouldn't bother doing my own thing! Just that seeing someone so successfully do what I want to do, just from a different approach, has made me reconsider my own priorities and what I'm aiming to do

I think I would still like to do a series rewrite, still from Harry's perspective

I did start one that was more of a proof of concept where Sirius and Lupin adopt Harry, though I imagine someone out there has also successfully written that as it's extremely popular (again, not to say that I can't do it just because someone else has!)

Something to think on. Not like I have time to add another huge project on my plate, though that certainly hasn't stopped me from doing it anyway before lol

I hate posts like "support and love trans people especially trans women/fems" or "don't out trans people especially not trans women/fems"

Trans mascs and unaligned nonbinary people are not secondary in deserving of love and support and safety

I understand if you focus your activism on one group over another because there's only so much energy

And I understand if someone is talking about a very specific situation that *does* vastly affect one group more than another

But one group of trans people should not inherently be a lower priority, and if you're bringing both up, you need to not act like one is more deserving of help than another

(I'm not saying trans women are responsible for these posts -- I primarily see them from cis allies though trans people do also make them)

Why do people insist on acting like purity culture in fandom spaces are entirely removed from purity culture in irl kink spaces and queer discourse

Fandom does not exist in a vacuum, and the beliefs and actions within it (policing kinks and queer expression of actual people) often inform how they treat people in other spaces

You think the people sending death threats and doxxing over age gap ships are going to be cool with ddlg? Or people who say those who write noncon should be sexually assaulted are going to approve of people into cnc? A lot of the people saying bakudeku is abusive and send suibait to shippers probably have some similar opinions about sadists

There is not, I imagine, a 100% overlap in these people, but it's enough that telling people to stop bringing up "fandom drama" feels like a slap in the face to the people chased out of communities and jobs, outed, doxxed, and even driven to suicide because of how they expressed their kinks in fandom

I know I've made posts about this before, but I am tired of seeing "you should be okay with weird kinks and not be a puritan about them because that harms real queer people" followed up with "this is NOT about FANDOM WANK" is exhausting and frustrating

I don't! I think there used to be a server that had that sort of thing, and maybe the Homestuck Discord Server does? Seems like a thing they'd do.

The one time I went to a convention I saw people on Twitter hosting a Homestuck meetup (that I ended up not being able to go to unfortunately) and I assume that's fairly common?

Temporary Queue Slowdown

Hey all! Main mod here: I'm doing a social media blackout next week, so I'm going to slow down the queue to just two posts a day instead of 4 to make sure it doesn't run out while I'm gone and I don't have to immediately queue up a bunch when I come back.

Homestuck Shipcest Archive

This blog was made out of spite for seeing another Homestuck archive blog that refused any "problematic" elements, which is just not in the spirit of Homestuck or its fandom, especially the stuff from a decade ago!

I'll tag this post with some common tags, but in general, my tag structure is: [year] [op] [artist if not op] [ship name (eg stridercest/dersecest/etc)] [ship pairing in alphabetical order (eg "dave x dirk"/"jade x john"/etc)] [character first and last names] If anything is particularly spicy (like from back when erotic art was allowed) I try to tag it as [nsft] If it's just a text post, I'll tag [text]

I also try to tag posts that aren't reblogs or other archive work as "not the archive" so you can filter that out if you don't want to see it

If you notice any typos, incorrect, or missing tags, please let me know so I can correct it! My asks are also open if you know of any good resources, have questions, suggestions for archive improvement, etc
