Hi, everyone. This is Ira. I used to be @/jensrose and @/jenovious on Tumblr.

I’m sure most of you know what I did. I did some really problematic stuff on Tumblr. I plagiarised. I stole someone else’s hard work. I did some other really messed up stuff on a previous account. 

All for some sort of weird, twisted sense of satisfaction I got from receiving attention. 

Truthfully, I was in a really bad place mentally. It was the middle of the pandemic. I had just changed schools and I didn’t have any friends. It was a time when I felt well and truly alone. I got into k-pop during the pandemic and I found Tumblr in the early half of 2021. I made about 3 to 4 accounts during my time on Tumblr and quickly started to thrive off of the attention and online friends I made. I figured that even if I didn’t have any friends in real life, it would be fine because I had found a community of people online with the same interests as me. 

I now know how flawed my thinking was.

But that’s not an excuse for any of the things I’ve done. What I did was inexcusable. I hurt and lied to so many people, all for the sake of getting “fame” and notes on a piece of writing.

The guilt of what I did still continues to haunt me. I’ve lost sleep over this, my relationship with my family was deteriorating, and my academic performance was steadily dropping. I couldn’t focus on anything other than this.

However, thanks to my family and a few trusted friends I’ve had the privilege of making in real life, I’m slowly and gradually learning how to be a better, kinder, nicer human being. I’m trying my best to learn from my mistakes. I’ve learnt that it’s nicer to get attention for good things, and receiving praise and recognition for something that you’ve created on your own is a million times better than getting recognised for something that’s not yours. What I did was horribly, inexplicably, wrong.

My conscience isn’t going to rest until I apologise properly to all the people I’ve wronged. I know saying sorry now, after several months have passed, won’t undo the damage I did. But it is, quite possibly, the least I can do.

I have a long life ahead of me, and I will consider this experience a stepping stone to becoming a better person. Learning from a mistake means owning up and taking responsibility for one’s actions, and that is something that I must do. Most of you may not forgive me—and that is okay. I know forgiveness is asking for a lot. 

But either way, I hope you recognise this as a sincere attempt at making amends.

To @luvdsc – I’m sorry for plagiarising your work and then lying to you when you confronted me about it. I should’ve just come clean and admitted to my mistake. I regret it more than a lot of things I’ve ever done, and I hope, someday, you can find it in yourself to forgive me.

To @choerrypuffs– I’m sorry for stealing elements of your fics and incorporating them in mine. I had no right to leach off of your creativity just for the sake of some notes on a piece of a fan fiction. I hope that someday, you can forgive me, as well.

To @jaeyunverse– I’m sorry for repeatedly trying to contact you through two other blogs and hiding the truth from you yet again. I’m sorry for how hypocritical my behaviour was. Thank you for being such a good friend to me. I hope that one day, you accept my apology.

I have one last request to ask of you: please delete the photo which contains my full name and the name of my educational institution for the sake of respect for my online privacy. Thank you.

To @lebrookestore– I’m sorry for breaching your trust and disappointing you multiple times. I lied many times, but you still gave me many chances to redeem myself—much more than I deserved; for that, I am truly sorry. You have been nothing but a good friend to me, and for that, I will always be grateful. I hope you can accept my apology, someday.

To @liliansun, @alohajun, and @doublesung– I did not deserve friends like you, truly. Thank you for sticking by me despite my horrible actions and being concerned for my well-being. I will always be indebted to you. I’m sorry for disappointing you, and I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Lastly, to all my ex-mutuals, followers and readers: you have all been nothing but kind to me, despite everything. I’m sorry for everything I’ve ever done and for disappointing every single one of you. I wish for nothing but the best in all your endeavours and I will pray that you, too, can accept my apology someday.

You don’t have to acknowledge this. You don’t have to accept my apology or forgive me, though that is something that I hope for. 

My time on Tumblr has been filled with good and bad, and it is an experience that I am growing and learning from. Thank you for everything.

hi, i want to address this issue since i have nothing to hide. this will be the first and last time i will be talking about this.

yes, i am ira/jensrose/jenovious. yes, i plagiarised some fics when i was active on tumblr from 2021/22. i take full accountability for my actions.

i have posted an apology to the people who were affected by my mistake. you can read it here—it was posted in november, 2022.

i do understand that plagiarism has no excuse, and what i did was horribly wrong and extremely hurtful. but over two years, i have reflected upon and learnt from my mistake. i do not interact with anyone on tumblr anymore, except for three people—one of whom knows about my past and still chooses to be friends with me (for which i am eternally grateful), and the other two are my friends in real life. other than that, the only people i talk to now are those who asked to be added to my taglist. i don't read fics on tumblr anymore. i would like to believe that i have grown and learnt from everything i did wrong and am a more mature, responsible person now.

however, i do completely understand if anyone chooses not to support me or read my fics. you are absolutely not entitled to read anything i put out or interact with me in any form whatsoever. i choose to post my fics on tumblr because i genuinely enjoy writing and i want to share that sentiment with people. i can assure you that none of my fics now—the ones that are posted and the ones that i am working on—are plagiarised in any manner.

again, i truly apologise for what i did and to all the people i hurt. respectfully, i will not be answering any more asks about this or address this issue any further. thank you for hearing me out.

hi, honey bee! 💕 thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I had reached out to jenovious (formerly jensrose) via dms to sort this out originally. I want to apologize beforehand that she asked that I don’t post the ask and before I could even respond, she deactivated. But I think it’s important for other writers to be aware, so that they can also protect their own works.

I would like to preface that should she create a new blog, do not send hate. This is never okay, and we should all know better than to do something that despicable.

I am posting this to spread awareness for other writers as well because a similar plagiarism issue happened in nctblr in the past in which someone used bts fanfiction and changed it to nct. They were not caught immediately because of the fandom differences. The current writing in question by jenovious was for enhyphen, and my fic I’m referring to is challenge accepted: asking your boyfriend to buy a feminine product that doesn’t exist, which is for nct dream. I would never have caught it if an ask wasn’t sent in because I don’t follow enhyphen. It really sucks that this would have flown under the radar because the writing was for a different group.

Additionally, she never admitted to nor apologized for plagiarizing my writing. I’d like to think I deserve at least a proper apology. She apologized because she “should have done research before posting it”, which I do not understand because why do you need to research other writers’ fics ahead of time? If you write them yourself, there would be no need to research other writers’ fics because they shouldn’t end up so alike. She also called it a mistake and said it was because she asked her friend for ideas for her fic and her friend said they got ideas from my reaction. She then sent me a text as proof. However, please see below for more details regarding the text message because it really seems a little bogus to me.

And now look at this text I created on ifaketextmessage.com. Additionally, as someone who codes and has created a GUI / worked on apps, I have a very hard time believing her classmates can create a fully functioning messaging software application absolutely identical to this website down to the spacing between each message and the battery usage, not to mention the copyright and trademark issues they’d be up against apple.

Her texts are on the left, and the one I created is on the right. I also did an overlay of it in Picsart to show how they match up and included a video below.

I have compiled the screenshots I sent her showing the comparisons of our reactions side by side. I know this is a tik tok trend, so they’re bound to have similar reactions given that she said she used the same video (linked here) for inspiration as me. However, the dialogue, especially the bits about not calling mark by his nickname and the “uterus” / “anti-climatic” in haechan’s portion, was written entirely by me. It is not found in the video at all. Moreover, I did not write my reactions verbatim from the video; I was inspired by the video and wrote my own dialogue. So why is her dialogue so similar to mine?

She wrote four reactions for four members of enhyphen. All four of them had similarities to my own reactions, which I have highlighted below.

I also saved full screen recordings of her reaction post before she deleted it and our DMs for more concrete proof. HERE is also a link to evidence of her copying my fic formatting and fic summary, and she never asked for permission to do so.

She copyrighted plagiarized work. She took my work and claimed it as her own. She was an admin of a kpop writing network where one of the rules is that plagiarism is not tolerated, and any member who commits it is terminated. She had asked me in the past if she could use my masterlist format as inspiration and credited me. She had also asked me how to disable the highlights and right click function on tumblr blogs in order to stop people from copying. She knows what plagiarism is, and it’s not fair or legal for her to claim my writing as her own. It’s just even more disappointing that this wasn’t done by a stranger since I know who she is and she has sent me very kind and wonderful asks about my writing in the past. I really wish she gave me an actual genuine honest apology for what she has done.

hi as someone who's read both jensrose and your work i just wanted to drop this here.

the similarities between jensrose and your fic are very vague. most of the dialogues you highlighted are very cliche ones and are used quite often in fiction.

i dont actually see much of a similarity between your works. and the fact that hers is set hp and yours in pj makes it all the more different.

hello, i am going to do my best to be civil about this, but at this point, i find my patience growing thin. here is the link to the archived version of jenrose's fic, of kisses and golden snitches. i know you said you read it, but please read it again because i'm not sure we read the same fic. once you’ve done that, i will walk you through the screenshots i’ve posted and explain them, since they are apparently not clear enough. 

let’s start with the beginning. jeno and y/n started hating each other since they were 11-12 years old. they are now currently 17-20s and remain enemies/bitter rivals. sure, enemies to lovers is a common trope, so i will give you that. a coincidence.

this is, by far, the most damning evidence for me. they’re stuck in a tight space together, one of them has a hand over the other’s mouth, and they’re hiding from someone. being stuck in a tight space isn’t a super original concept, but it’s the way that it’s exactly the same as mine down to the details. again, it could just be another coincidence. actually, let’s say it is just a coincidence for the hell of it. let’s see how many “coincidences” continue to pile up.

one of them does something stupid, the other chastises them and tells them they could’ve died and they respond with “but i didn’t.” the only difference from hers and mine is the stakes. hp!jeno was injured in a quidditch(?) game. i’m sorry i am not familiar with harry potter, but it is some sort of game. pjo!y/n fought a sea monster and also had to fight a mind-controlled pjo!jeno. the whole point of the scenes is the “i almost lost you” angst. i don’t particularly think that a light-hearted hp fic would need that, especially since all they do is bicker and mess around in ira’s fic while my fic has jeno and y/n literally risking their lives for each other. again, it could be another convenient coincidence. but i’m having a hard time believing that in addition to the eerily similar enemies to lovers background and the stuck in a tight space scene.

the sexual tension dialogue is a very common e2l trope. okay, let’s chalk that up to another coincidence. the next highlighted paragraph, the one that starts with “It feels normal” is basically just the shortened version of what i wrote. The “we’ve spent so much time hating each other that we’ve basically grown accustomed to it without realizing our own budding feelings” revelation. another coincidence?

now then, it’s time for an english lesson. as someone who recently received her bachelor’s degree in english and have written dozens and dozens of academic papers/short essays/forum posts (and have been plagiarized there too), i am all too familiar with mosaic plagiarism. what is mosaic plagiarism?

sound familiar? mosaic plagiarism is one of the most common types of plagiarism, due to the fact that it is one of the hardest to definitively detect. someone takes bits and portions of another work, paraphrases them, and inserts them throughout their own work - hence the term “mosaic.”

jensrose has both committed direct and mosaic plagiarism, with cat’s not clickbait reaction and my demigods series, respectively.

and to your point of saying that because it is a harry potter au and not a percy jackson one, that makes it all the more different. actually, anon, if you read mine and cat’s previous claims of plagiarism, you’ll see that ira has consistently switched elements of her fics to avoid detection (of course i cannot confirm this statement but i’m making an extremely educated guess), whether it be from nct to enhypen. or, in this case, from percy jackson to harry potter.

and let’s take her harry potter fic out of the equation completely. it doesn’t change the fact that she still plagiarized both my haechan and jaemin demigods fic (re: previous claims of plagiarism).

and for the record, it’s not like i’m hoping and wanting ira to plagiarize from me. when i was provided the archived version of her renjun hp fic, i acknowledged that her fic was not plagiarism even though her summary was nearly identical to mine. but “of kisses and golden snitches” definitely is.
