Everything was chill back in Hermitcraft 6 (lying)
Then Grian got up to his usual tricks
The name of the game is kill or be killed
No swords no bows no PVP skills
First Rendog found his inner fish
But he couldn’t stick the landing and his bones went squish
Stress flew through the dares with talent and grace
But she didn’t catch the totem and she fell on her face
Then Ren came back with a sinister vice
Tricked X with a race and blew him up twice
Looks like steel beams can’t be melted by slime
‘Cause Jevin didn’t see Mumbo’s tower in time
Stress set a trap at the shopping district
And dropped Scar right into a pufferfish pit
Cub’s stunt got stuck and X felt robbed
So he got a skeleton to finish the job
This is the Hermitcraft showdown of Hermitcraft destiny
Players, mobs, and explosions as far as the eye can see
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
This is the Hermitcraft showdown of Hermitcraft destiny
Tango and Impulse were shopping at the mall
But the store detonated and it killed them all
Grian had a no-good-very-bad-day
And when he made it back home he got blown away
Then False broke a block and before she could speak
A giant underground explosion sent her into next week
Cleo signed up for a warehouse tour
But she didn’t read the waiver and she fell through the floor
And TinFoilChef went laughing to the grave
Then without another word went back into his caves
Tango’s game was a race against the clock
And Keralis threw an egg at the most explosive block
Now revenge is a dish that’s best served cold
But Bdubs got it boiling as Cleo foretold
And when Joe got the rug pulled from under his feet
He tried to play it cool but he couldn’t take the heat
This is the Hermitcraft showdown of Hermitcraft destiny
It’s 90% explosions as far as the eye can see
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
This is the Hermitcraft showdown….
In another dimension
With danger abound
Mumbo threw his ender-pearl
But missed solid ground
And Doc had played smart
But Grian played mean
He was dead on arrival,
The trap unforeseen
Then one player remained,
One Dragon Head left-
For the ride of his life,
Iskall auctioned his death
He beat Joe Hills And ZombieCle-o
And every other member of the Dragon Bros:
FalseSymmetry and BDoubleO
And Grian and Mumbo Jumbolio
Also Rendog, Jevin, TangoTek and Cubfan,
Stress, Scar, and X just couldn’t beat the Iskallman
TinFoilChef or ImpulseSV
Doc can rock with blocks but can’t flee
So Grian and Impulse forged a team
And together they built a death machine
With a narrative arc from beginning to end
And a wild surprise around every bend
When the show and the ride were finally done
Our champion knew that his course had run
All that remains from the end of this fight
Is a piece of bloodstained diorite
This is the hermitcraft showdown of hermitcraft destiny
Just way too many explosions - where do they get all that TNT???
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
This is the Hermitcraft showdown
(this is the Hermitcraft showdown)
This is the Hermitcraft showdown
(this is the Hermitcraft showdown)
This is the Hermitcraft showdown
(this is the Hermitcraft showdown)
Of Hermitcraft destiny

Was bored and also procrastinating other things, so have a ranked list of Hermits based on whether I think they can cook or not for funsies. Vibes only.
Beef: The expert. Is well versed in almost all manners of cooking, and is an extremely skilled chef, particularly with regards to meat dishes, and is a particularly skilled butcher.
TFC: Also up there with Beef, but TFC is also a master of rare ingredients. He’s good at foraging, and he uses ingredients in his cooking that aren’t typically used in just every day life. His techniques may seem a bit primitive, but they are highly effective and his style of cooking might be called simple food made complicated.
Stress: Also a very good cook who puts a lot of emphasis on nutrition. She makes meal plans and prepares a lot of her food at the beginning of the week, and her cooking always makes sure to include a balanced diet. She enjoys cooking and likes to have fun with it. Makes a killer roast chicken.
Impulse: Is surprisingly good at home style cooking. He doesn’t make anything fancy or anything, and his presentation is always a little sloppy, but his food at least tastes good.
Cub: Doesn’t cook much, but when he does he is actually secretly a very good chef. He cooks for himself a lot, but it’s only once in a blue moon that someone else gets to eat his food.
Wels: Is a decent chef, but is incapable of cooking for a single person. He makes way too much food every time and is incapable of portioning, and as such he is the direct inverse of Cub, and he never cooks for himself if he’s alone. Is also very good at desserts.
Ren: Has a bottomless pit of a stomach. Has a big appetite and loves all food and really enjoys big dinner feasts. Is also good with cooking meat specifically. He has a special smoking method that is a real crowd pleaser. Is also good with basic rice bowls and his cooking tastes very homely.
Gem: Is good at treating fish specifically. Also anything involving wild game. Like TFC she is very good at foraging and using ingredients found in the forest. Her cooking is a bit unrefined, but has a very light, refreshing sort of feel to it.
Cleo: An average cook, but is very good at a few specific dishes. (As a side note I’ve actually tried one of Cleo’s recipes that she talked about on stream and it is literally the greatest thing ever, I made it once and people request it all the time)
Joe: Is good at making drinks specifically. He makes a mean margarita and is good at making mixed drinks and cocktails, but otherwise is an average chef with regards to food. Makes very good nachos though.
Doc: Like Cleo, Doc is good at making a few very specific dishes. He makes several German specialties and is also very good at treating vegetables, but outside of these specialties he is rubbish.
Bdubs: Stereotypical grill dad. At least he thinks so. His seasonings consist almost exclusively of basic spices. Meat is the only thing he cooks, but otherwise possesses no real flare for cooking. Despite this, he thinks very highly of his skills, and the food he puts out isn’t bad really, so the Hermits still let him cook every once in a while.
Scar: Scar always tries his absolute best, and his cooking swings wildly from perfection to the most disgusting thing you’ve ever eaten in your life. There is no in between. It’s 50/50 what you’re going to get, but he has fun either way.
Jevin: makes a mean Mac and cheese, but outside of this, he is a very basic cook. He makes himself sandwiches and grilled cheese and maybe some pasta, but otherwise doesn’t cook much else.
Hypno: Ok. He can kill something and cook it, but he’s not the best butcher and his food is just kind of thrown together. There’s no real theme to any plate he puts out. He’s half decent with seasonings and spices though.
XB: Can make fried rice and that’s about it.
Keralis: Can copy other people’s dishes when given instructions, but when left alone has no idea what he’s doing.
False: Doesn’t really cook much. She probably could, but most of the time she’s after something quick and easy. Whenever she gets hungry she just grabs an apple from the bowl or eats whatever leftovers are in the fridge cold.
Etho: Lives almost exclusively off of instant ramen.
Zedaph: treats the kitchen like a chemistry lab and anyone eating is a test subject. He’s not allowed in the kitchen very often.
Xisuma: This man could burn juice. I don’t know how, but he’d do it. He is a sopping wet cat in the kitchen. He’s the type that tries to cook but fails so miserably that every time he just ends up making a bowl of cereal for himself instead.
Grian and Pearl: have cooking battles competing over who can make the most disgusting dish. Grian is like the little toddler that always wants to help but is so bad that no one will let him. He’s also always the one standing over your shoulder and sneaking bites of things when you turn your back. Pearl can’t cook herself, but she has good knife skills so she is often allowed to help out with the prep work.
Mumbo: Will eat anything and everything you throw in front of him. He does not care. He also does not cook at all. When left to fend for himself he demolishes the kitchen by eating every raw ingredient in the pantry. This man would eat a sack of flour if you let him.
Tango: This man does not eat unless you make him. You have to physically drag him to the table to get any kind of nourishment, but he is always very appreciative of other peoples cooking.
Iskall: Orders takeout exclusively.

Assistant Hottie
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jason Teague x F. Reader (implied Jason T. x Lana Lang)
Summary: Jason Teague, Assistant Football Coach, meets you in the faculty break lounge at Smallville High. He tries to kick you out, thinking you’re a student. Technically, you are. Turns out, you both go to the same university.
AN: So I know it’s about 20 years late, but I’ve been wanting to write some Jason Teague for a while now. There’s a very dated reference to iPods (remember this show was circa early 2000s).
Word Count: 2,600 Tags/Warnings: Implied love triangle (quadrangle?), fluff, tinge of angst, and a meet cute.
Tumblr media
“Hey, Coach T!”
Jason turns his head, shooting Clark Kent a smile that’s just a little bit forced. He slows down in the busy hallway so the younger man can catch up.
Clark’s friends, Chloe Sullivan and Lana Lang keep walking, though the brunette glances his way. Her hazel eyes catch his.
But Jason focuses on Clark, who’s coming at him with all six feet and three inches of farm boy earnestness.
Jason has City Boy Charm in his arsenal.
“What’s up, man?”
Clark smiles. “Real quick, just wanted to ask you about the drills we’re running today…
Eighth period is about to start, meaning just another hour until school ends, and another day of practice begins on the football field. Clark takes all five minutes between classes to ask his questions about how he can better move the ball, his throwing technique, how to better communicate on plays with the rest of the guys.
As always, Jason gives Clark the best advice he has to offer. Even a few months into this job, he’s still feeling a bit of imposter syndrome. He’s only a couple of years older than the guys he’s coaching, and Clark is looking at him like he’s got all the answers.
Newsflash, champ. I don’t. Jason smiles though.
Because Clark is something else. He’s a starting quarterback of a game he’s never played before in his life. Head Coach Quigley thought it was steroids at first, but Jason had a gut feeling about the guy.
“He’s not a cheater,” he’d told Quigley. The other man had scoffed, rubbing his chin.
“Okay, Teague. If you think so,” he said. “…Make him piss in a cup anyway.”
Since then, Clark hasn’t given Jason a reason to doubt him, at least on the field.
No, his reasons for still being wary of Clark are more…personal.
“All right, we’ll workshop the rest later on the field,” Jason says, as the starting bell rings. “You’re gonna be late for class.”
“Okay, see ya later.” Clark nods and holds up a hand in goodbye. To tell the truth, Jason is a little relieved to see him go.
Instead of heading to his office, he makes a pitstop at the faculty break lounge for a cup of coffee. He could use a little pick-me-up, even if it is from a watery K-cup.
When he pushes open the door, he’s greeted by the familiar smell of stale roasted hazelnut and microwaved fish. Along with the wall-to-wall countertop and refrigerator down the end, there’s a small round table fitted with just three chairs.
Uh oh, he thinks.
You’re sitting there with a pair of earbuds in, nodding to your music while you make notes with a red pen. The contents of your messenger bag are half-strewn across the table, displaying a couple of notebooks and binders, different colored highlighters, pens, and a post-it pad.
Your back is facing him, so he has to walk around the table to get your attention. He hesitates, before he taps your shoulder. He’s never had to do this before, and he’s actually a bit nervous.
“Hey there,” he says. His lips quirk when you jolt a little. You stare up at him with wide eyes and the top of your pen resting against your lower lip.
“Uh…” You remove your ear buds and hit pause on your iPod.
“Did you get lost on the way to study hall, or you just here for the coffee?” Jason gestures to the Keurig machine on the counter. “Hate to break it to you, but that stuff’s not exactly quality joe.”
You blinked at him. “What? Um…I mean yeah, the coffee’s ass. But it is free, I guess.”
Jason tries to reign in his smile. He cards a hand through his blonde hair and taps his free hand on the table.
“Uh, are you ditching class or something?” he asks. “If it’s history, I get it. Snooze fest.”
He makes a flatlining motion with his hand. Your brows knit together in confusion…but then you brighten.
“Oh, I’m not a student,” you laugh. “But good on you for trying to lay down the law, Coach Teague.”
Now it’s Jason’s turn to be confused. “How did you know—”
You point with your red pen, over to the yellow patch emblazoned on his red polo that says: Crows Football and Assistant Coach.
“Pretty sure you’re the one the cheerleaders are calling Assistant Hottie,” you say. Your gaze is wry and a hint playful.
He lets himself smile, albeit with some embarrassment. He points at you.
“And you’re…”
“Part-time teacher’s aid,” you reply. Your hands make a frame around the stack of papers in front of you, that Jason now realizes you’re grading.
Great. His face warms a bit.
“Sorry,” he chuckles, and points to the coffee maker. “Let me just mind my business.”
He doesn’t know it, but you subtly watch him with a small smile while he goes about said business. The Keurig eventually spits out more roasted hazelnut into his Styrofoam cup.
With his prize in hand, he means to leave you in peace to head for his office, but your voice stops him.
“You can sit if you want. I need a break anyway.”
Jason can admit, at least to himself, that he’s curious. (About you.) He goes over to the table and sits down across from you. His eyes unconsciously dart over the splayed contents of your bag, and you don’t miss it.
“Sorry,” you say, as you try to reign in the mess and corral things back into your bag. “I’m kind of an organized chaos kind of girl.”
“No worries. I dabble in that philosophy myself,” he says with a grin. “I’m Jason, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you,” you reply, giving him your name in return.
You like his smile. His long fingers are wrapped around the steaming cup. Meanwhile, the afternoon sun is pouring in from the windows behind him. It shines golden on his hair and broad shoulders, and makes his green eyes look warm.
Those eyes glance down and focus on a familiar badge sticking out of your bag. His brows furrow.
“No way. You go to Kansas A&M?” he asks. “So do I.”
You blink at him. “What, you’re still in college?”
He laughs and leans back in his chair, blowing out a breath.
“Okay, wow! A bit rude," he says. "Just how old do you think I am?”
You bite your lip in embarrassment.
“Second thought, don’t answer that,” he quips.
“I’m sorry,” you say, through a bit of laughter. “I guess we’re both reading each other wrong today.”
Jason shakes his head and crosses his arms.
“No, no. It’s fine,” he says airily. “Lest I be any more presumptuous, can I ask what year you’re in? Major?”
You concede with a nod, but you’re still smiling too hard.
“Secondary Education. Junior year,” you say. Jason’s brows raise with his grin still in place.
“Okay, a future teacher on our hands.” He leans forward. “As it turns out, I’m actually a sophomore.”
A year below you. You bury your reddened face in your hands, though a giggle still bubbles up.
He doesn’t let you stew in your misery for long though.
“Eh, it’s okay. Don’t feel too bad,” he says. You hear the smile in his voice, and you peek out at him from between your fingers. “I’m technically a year behind. Transferred from another school so I could take this job.”
Once again, your eyes widen as your hands fall away from your face.
“Oh, yeah? I assume you play football, but I’ve never seen you on the team…”
Jason’s smile turns playfully cocky.
“I don’t play anymore, but I’ll have you know, I was on track for the NFL.”
Yeah, for about a minute, comes a dull reminder in his brain.
You rest your chin in your hand as you meet his smile. “Okay. You definitely have the face of a guy who almost went pro.”
Your voice lowers at the end there, impersonating every “dude bro” you’ve ever met who thought he could throw a ball across a field.
“I’m serious.” Jason laughs, but then his eyes dim a bit. “I played for Metropolis U. Tore my rotator cuff, and uh…that’s it. Scrubbed. Had to start over.”
You dim along with him. “That sucks ass. I’m sorry.”
He snorts, almost spilling his coffee. “You’ve certainly got a way with words.”
“But you feel better for me calling you old, don’t you?” Your pen taps on your lip, and his eyes are drawn to the gesture.
He also notices your eyes, the shape of your face, the shade of your hair, the black Fleetwood Mac shirt (with a ripped V hinting at cleavage). It doesn’t exactly scream T.A., but you’re pretty.
Beautiful, really.
He tries not to notice that too much.
“Maybe a little,” he allows. He smiles behind a sip of his drink. It’s getting cold, as he forgets to actually drink it.
“My parents sent me to college to be a lawyer,” you confess. It perks his interest with raised brows. “Like my mom, and my uncle, and his father before him, and so on.”
Jason’s smile is back. You consider that a small triumph.
“I sat in one class. Intro to Business Law.” You shudder at the memory. “Jason, I wanted to bludgeon myself with the textbook. And it wouldn’t have taken long. That thing was the size of a Dostoyevsky novel.”
Jason laughs, even though he doesn’t know who Dostoyevsky is. It does unearth a distant memory of his 12th grade English class (he barely passed that one).
“So, I decided to disappoint them,” you say ruefully.
That, he understands all too well. He raises a finger at you. “Hey, a teacher’s respectable. But I happen to be an expert at disappointed parents, so you’re in good company.”
You smile, small but genuine. Jason counts that as a win.
“What’s your major now?” you ask.
“Sports medicine,” he replies, but you both hear the lack of enthusiasm in his voice.
Your head tilts, and your eyes soften. Not with pity, he thinks. Maybe with understanding.
“You could find something else you’re actually passionate about,” you say.
Jason bites the inside of his lip, sets his cup back on the table.
“Sure,” he says.
His lackluster answer is telling, and he can’t even think of a joke to inject into this moment to lighten the mood. (He even disappoints himself there.)
“Look, I get it,” you say at last. “You probably ate, slept, breathed that game. Like that’s what you were put on this earth to do. And I know you must’ve been good. Because the fact that this school hired you while you’re still in college is amazing.”
He meets your gaze steadily.
Your smile brightens. “But I’m sure football’s not all there is to you.”
That touches him. Warms him even, though he’s reluctant to let it.
“We just met, and you’re already sure about that?” he remarks.
You shrug, gesturing at his cup. “Well, I’m sure that you probably have crappy taste in coffee. I’m broke as hell, and even I don’t drink from a Keurig.”
Jason laughs. If you only knew that he’d spent his summer in Paris, sampling some of the best restaurants and cafés in the world without even looking at the bill…until his dad cut him off. Needless to say, he’s had to refine his tastes.
“What kind of teacher do you want to be?” he asks, instead of getting to all that.
Your brow arches. “You mean what subject?”
“Yeah. What, like physics or something?”
“Ew. God, no!”
“What’s wrong with physics?”
“Too much math. I’m shit at that shit,” you reply.
“Okay. No to the sciences.” He laughs and rubs his chin, squinting at you. “Let me see if I can guess.”
You gesture widely. Go ahead.
“Not economics, I’m thinking. Too close to business,” he teases.
“Business law,” you correct. “But you’re actually right about that.”
“Hmm, history?”
“It's interesting, but it’s also rigged,” you say. “Only the victors in society get to dictate what gets remembered. Just look at Columbus Day. What a sham that is.”
Jason allows that with a nod and a smile. “All right, what then? Algebra? Geometry?”
“That’s math, remember?” you reply, with furrowed brows. “Besides, I don’t like mixing letters and numbers. It’s not sanitary.”
He chortles at that. You’re a little ridiculous, but he kind of likes that.
“Okay, how about English?” he says.
Your gaze flicks up to his. A small, growing smile.
“What makes you say that?” you ask.
“Process of elimination?” he says. His smile curves. He saw your little reaction. “But I don’t know. I get the feeling you’re a hell of a lot smarter than me. The way you’re talking, all quick as a whip… Like I said, you’ve got a way with words.”
You laugh a little. “Oh, do I?”
Jason’s brows raise expectantly as he leans back in his seat again.
Well, then? that move says. “Am I right?”
Your head tilts, and you answer the unspoken challenge in his eyes. You raise a finger and pull out one of your notebooks and you take up your red pen. You tap the top of it on your lip, in what seems to be your habit, and you begin to write on a clean piece of paper.
Your hand moves with purpose on each word. Jason watches you in curiosity. Though when you realize he’s staring hard at your paper, your free hand forms a wall against his probing eyes.
“No cheating,” you reproach.
He scoffs, but he waits for you to finish.
Finally, you tear off the piece of notebook paper, fold it up neatly, and you slide it over to him.
“What, are we passing notes now?” Jason can’t help but joke, even as he opens the little gift. “I thought we weren’t in class, Professor.”
You shake your head. “Just read it.”
He starts to, and his smile grows. He glances back up at you. “You wrote me a poem?”
“Just a little haiku.” You gesture at him to keep reading while you start to pack up your things. The alarm bell just tolled for the end of class, and you have another job to get to.
Jason’s eyes lower back down to the looping scrawl of your handwriting. His smile deepens into a smirk.
Assistant Hottie
You flatter me, see through me
Smarter than he thinks.
He stares at your words for a while. He rereads the last line a few times.
By the time he looks back up, your bag is packed and you’re standing, ready to go. You smile at him.
“See you on campus,” you say. “I also work at the Writing Center, if you ever need a spruce up on your essays.”
“Can I get you to rewrite my history paper?” he teases.
“Make an appointment,” you counter, still with that smile. “And we’ll see.”
You leave the faculty lounge, and Jason feels a suspicious jolt in his heart.
Something he immediately feels guilty about.
Because the real reason he came back to Kansas is to continue his summer fling with Lana Lang, a senior at Smallville High.
Well, to him, it’s not a fling. He used to think it was as close to love as he’s ever been. Recently though, he’s been getting the sense that she’s still hung up on her not quite ex, Clark Kent.
That’s not even the most complicated part.
She’s 18, and Jason’s barely 20, but their relationship could still one day be the reason he loses his job…
And maybe, any chance he might have of being friends with someone like you.

i want so badly for taylor swift to speak out against israel and the genocide this apartheid state is committing in palestine. im so proud of her and everything she has achieved this year, starting from the eras tour to her successful rerecords. it’s not a surprise she’s on top of many year-end most influential/best of the best lists.
but what then? what use is her ever-growing influence? it’s ridiculous to say but she’s the only one who has enough of a sway to make people actually pay attention to something. just look at how the voter registration in the US spiked again when she posted about it a few months ago. how the NFL had boosted views for the simple fact that she was attending the games. can you imagine how much the tides would change if she denounced israel’s atrocities? if she rallied for support for palestinians? the legions of swifties would actually listen and pay attention. because right now only a very small fraction of us care, truly care, about what’s happening. the rest are too busy fishing for a taylor nation notice.
yes, taylor swift cannot end wars. no, it’s not taylor swift’s job to make life better for an oppressed population. but she has the platform, the momentum, and the voice to bring all these issues to light.
this is not to mention how the apartheid state has been using her pictures, her lyrics, even the friendship bracelets to further their propaganda. did taylor not fervently oppose the n@zis who were calling her an aryan goddess a few years ago? even if this is all she does now, ask them not to use her for their propaganda, it would already do so much.
instead she’s silent. when her influence is needed the most, she’s not there.
the sad thing is, we all know she’ll live and thrive if she chooses to stay silent. hell, i have tickets to see her next year. she’ll continue to be successful and she will put out more albums and she’ll earn more money and she’ll be safe and happy. palestinians have none of any of this. some of them are dying under the rubble after their house is hit with b0mbs that israel is dropping as im typing this.
but if she uses her influence? if she puts pressure on the government, on joe biden whom she proudly endorsed, there’s a chance that she could tip the scales. and even if it doesn’t work, isn’t it better to have at least tried? even selfishly, will your conscience not feel lighter knowing you did something instead of nothing?
taylor, you have a ton of resources at your disposal. i hope you use them, and i hope you use your influence to help the palestinian people.

Iris picked up the phone from her pocket soon after she heard the cheerful ringtone. She only needed to look at it for less than a second to know that it was Barry and pressed the green button to answer. To make sure it stayed up while she typed away on her laptop, Iris placed the phone between her head and shoulders.”Hey, Barry.” She greeted.”You coming back soon?” She asked. Allen was out a bit later than usual tonight, which isn’t common enough for her to worry too much -- especially since he’s also a young adult like herself --, but definitely not often enough for her to not worry at all. His breathing was labored and pretty tired.”Hey, Iris, you mind making a bit of room on the living room couch?” He asked.
That was a bit odd.”Uh, sure, just let me finish up my writing. Why? Does a friend need to come over or something?” She asked. She heard another voice yawning, which was even weirder.”Uh, not exactly. We kinda have an emergency guest.” He replied.
Barry carried the exhausted boy on his back as he walked down the rather empty sidewalk. He wasn’t all that heavy, Barry was just pretty tired himself. The boy’s head rested on his shoulders, making his dark hair brush against the side of Barry’s head a bit every time he took a step, and despite his best attempts to stay awake, he was quickly falling asleep.
His grip was slipping and growing weak, but every few seconds or so, he’d suddenly regain his grip a little or try to mumble another “thank you” or “just one” to the older man, the second indicating he only intended to accept his offer for only one night. Barry lowered his phone a little and slightly turned to glance at the kid’s head.”No problem, kid. Just get some rest now.” He said. He heard a grumble, but couldn’t understand what Danny said. Judging by the tone, though, it was probably a pouty “No!” meant to be a joke.”Barry? Who is that? Is someone with you?” Iris asked through the phone. Barry brought it back up and put his focus back on the path ahead of him and in his mind.”A kid named Danny, he was looking for a place to sleep in the alleys. He’s not in too much trouble, just really tired from what he’s told me.” He replied. Probably not the best way to explain it, but it could be worse.
Iris was now closing her laptop and heading towards the living room couch.“Why won’t he go to a shelter?” She asked. The couch wasn’t dirty or littered, but a quick brush wouldn’t hurt, and neither would a blanket. She already knew what he was going to ask if the answer to her question was no.“Too far, apparently. Is it okay with you and Joe if he stays the night, and I try to help him out in the morning?”
That was something I had no issue with, but Joe might. She also knew he would welcome it if he had no choice, though. He did the same with Barry, after all.”Sure, let me ask dad.“ She said, wiping a few stray crumbs off the couch. She put her phone on the small nightstand next to the couch and rushed upstairs. Iris went to her dad’s door, which was the second door down the hall on the right, and knocked. She didn’t even have to wait ten seconds for it to open and her father, who had been allowed (ordered) to go home early, to open the door.
“Iris? You need something?” Joe asked. Iris cut straight to the chase.
“Long story short, Barry found a kid looking for a place to stay and the shelters are full. He wants to know if he can stay here for the night.” She somewhat explained. Joe reared his head back a little bit in surprise and blinked. He was obviously as taken aback as she expected, telling her dad that her brother was bringing back a homeless kid to sleep on their couch.
“This is all of a sudden,” he started with a small step back, ”but if there’s not a lot of other options, then sure.” He shrugged. A small smile formed on his face, as if asking “how could I say no?”. Iris sighed in relief and soon found her own smile. Joe walked past her.”Thank you so much, dad.” She said. Joe glanced back at her, still smiling a bit.”Helping kids is part of my job, as an officer and a father.” He stated as they both descended downstairs.
Iris picked up her phone, hoping Allan was still on the line, and held it to her ear as Joe opened a closet to grab a spare blanket.”He said yes.” She said. She put him on speaker, just in case Joe wanted to talk as well.
“Thank goodness.” Barry breathed out.”I’m really sorry to spring this on you guys.” He apologized. He rounded the corner, ignoring the double glances people took before they kept walking. They were most likely assuming that he had somehow gained a little brother or son.
“It’s alright, Barry. Do you know if he’s had anything to eat or drink?” Joe’s voice asked on the other side of the line. That caught him off guard, but only for a millisecond, maybe even faster since his brain barely registered it.“Yeah, he told me he’s not hungry.” He glanced over at Danny’s head on his shoulder, noticing his eyes are closed and his breathing was slower.”I think he’s asleep.” He said. The lack of grumbling or some quiet form of arguing proved his theory.
“How far away are you? Do you need me to pick you up?” Joe asked. Barry, out of instinct, quickly surveyed his surroundings. Though he already knew where he was, which was kind of stupid or weird.“No. We’re about two minutes away, walking distance.” He replied.
“Alright. We’ll get the couch ready.” Joe said. Barry heard the phone beeping from his adopted dad hanging up and promptly put it in his pocket so he could use that hand to make sure Danny was being carried properly.
When Barry arrived back, Iris had opened the door for him since she saw him coming up and quickly guessed he’d struggle a bit to get his keys without dropping the kid. Once he managed to get through the door, Joe came over and carefully helped him get Danny off of his back and onto the couch, both trying to make it so they didn’t wake him up. He stirred a bit from the movement, but his eyes barely cracked open before he fell right back asleep. Danny simply laid there, and Iris quickly tucked his unconscious body under a blanket as the other two began a quiet conversation.
“Anything about his family? Friends?” Joe asked in a hushed tone. Barry shook his head.”No, he just said he’s not sure where he is or how he got there, and he can’t remember his address or any phone numbers either.” He whispered back. The two turned their heads when they noticed the light being turned off and saw Iris next to the light switch. She used the light on her phone to light up the floor and walk up to them.”We should let him sleep.” She piped in quietly.
“Yeah. I say we ask him about his situation in the morning, when we’re all well rested.” Barry agreed.
“Sounds like a plan.” Joe nodded. And with that, they went upstairs, but not before Barry gave their guest a confused glance. Something was just odd about him. He brushed it off as the sudden turn in events that had happened in the last hour confusing him and carried on upstairs.
In the morning, Danny was gone.
The blanket that had been draped over him the night before was stacked neatly and placed on the opposite end of the couch as the pillow, which was also slightly fixed so it’d appear nice for decoration.
The windows and doors were still locked from when Joe remembered to take care of that before bed, and the alarm hadn’t gone off at all throughout the night. Nothing was taken, everything was tidied up.
Except for a single sticky note placed on the wall.
Thank you so much for letting me stay the night. Hopefully, we don’t meet again under those same circumstances. — Danny
BTW, I did a load of dishes, woke up feeling productive and wanted another way of saying thanks :D

Day 3: Unity/Favorite Dynamic
Joe and Gomamon
This is probably the weirdest answer I'll give since I would've answered Sora and Biyomon before and while I was a child. As of my rewatch of Digimon Adventure back around 2018-2019 with my husband, I honestly like Joe and Gomamon's dynamic.
I saw Joe as a bit of a comedy relief, a low-interest character as a child. Mainly, his story wasn't nearly as flashy or loud as Tai's or Matt's, as those two needed a good punch or argument to resolve their issues (though Joe was rather loud himself at times, but it was never out of selfishness, it was usually genuine fear or surprise, and usually the English dub).
I didn't really see Joe past the jokes and the responsibility that he felt he needed to carry until my rewatch of Digimon Adventure in Japanese. I really felt how serious, earnest, and honest he was in Japanese once the constant jokes were taken away. And it also really made Gomamon shine in how much he wanted Joe to be true to himself instead of living someone else's shoes. The two seemed to be complete opposites… but that's what made them work. They carried what the other needed and leveled each other out. The lax Gomamon needed a more responsible and concerned Joe, while Joe needed to a chill Gomamon to get him unwind a bit.
While my husband relates to Joe the most (of course I had to ask him which Chosen he liked), in a way, I almost wonder if I love this dynamic because this is how my husband and I are. Usually I'm the more serious one and he's the one trying to get me to chill, so I'm Joe and he's my Gomamon.
For an honorable mention… My art-ner and I had a discussion on my Twitch stream for this prompt, whether or not "best dynamic" could have been a human-human dynamic (or digimon-digimon). But I'd also say my favorite human-human relationship in this series is Joe and Mimi. I don't see their relationship as romantic, but rather a sibling-like relationship of a younger sister-older brother, much like Tai and Kari. At the end of Adventure, Mimi needed some space and Joe respectfully chose to stay with her so the group could continue while honoring Mimi's feelings. I love that Joe got to have a 'senpai' moment, to be relied on by Mimi, and I could really feel that Mimi needed a person to lean on.
Regardless, shoutout to Jyou/Joe Kido and Gomamon. May your fish keep swimming marching. XP

Wonwoo has a routine. And while he doesn't consider himself to be a particularly rigid person, he doesn't often like to stray from it.
He isn't opposed to trying new things– the occasional night out with Seungcheol, karaoke at a bar downtown with Seungkwan, a new game with Chan; but he does find comfort in having a set schedule. Especially during weekdays. Wake up around nine. Go to classes until one. Grab lunch. Work out. And the most important part, be settled down with his laptop, textbooks, and notes by three, locked away in his favorite coffee shop with a subpar dark caramel cold brew in hand. Sure, it's not an award-winning cup-of-Joe by any means, but Wonwoo's always been a tad sentimental and considers the small shop his own little haven.
So, understandably, he's a bit irked when Seokmin flat-out refuses to negotiate on a study spot. Suggesting his own favorite shop a bit further from campus to work on their project. No matter how much Wonwoo vouches for his regular shop, Seokmin won't be deterred, insisting it's the only place he can actually focus at.
Ultimately, Wonwoo decides a little disruption to his routine is worth it if it'll provoke his normally restless partner into being studious for an hour or two.
"I promise, you're gonna love it!" He boasts. Wonwoo just hums in response.
It's no wonder he's never tried Seokmin's favorite spot, much less heard of it. The shop, known as "Local Brew," is tucked away in one of the many alleys in the maze that is the outskirts of campus. Unnoticeable unless you're already looking for it.
The outside is... definitely charming. Chipped brick overrun by moss and the occasional piece of chewed gum frame the glass entrance. The windows of which are scribbled over in neat, pretty writing. Vibrant pinks and yellows showcasing low prices, catchy promotions, and flowery doodles. Seokmin plows right through, sounding the ring of a bell.
A honeyed voice greets him immediately. "Seokmin! It's nice to see you again. Should I get the usual started?"
Wonwoo knows that voice. And subsequently, Wonwoo knows this is the point in which he is, for lack of a better word, absolutely and irrevocably fucked.
Seokmin however, marches on, blissfully unaware of how his friend's heart is in desperate need of some jumper cables. "Yes please, oh, and extra sweet!"
"You're gonna rot your teeth out one of these days, but you got it."
"You're the best," he sings.
"I see you brought a friend this time. What can I– Wonwoo?"
Wonwoo knows it's his turn to speak. But his lips can only form shapes of empty words, like a fish out of water gasping for air. He tries shaking his head, hoping the action will knock a brain cell or two together so he can form a sentence that isn't wholly embarrassing. Though the effects are like that of an Etch A Sketch and he turns up empty-headed again.
He clears his throat and pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose, more of a nervous habit than an adjustment, and wings it. "Hi, Y/N, it's um, been a while."
It has in fact been two hours. Probably less.
Wonwoo's internally punching the walls right now. It's been a while? Is he serious? He literally saw you in class earlier. Honesty, could he sound more idiotic?
Your brow furrows and Wonwoo's just about to make a mad dash for the exit until your features soften and a grin tugs at the corners of your lips. "Yeah, I guess you could say so. Dr. Kang's class sure makes it feel that way, huh?"
Wonwoo forgets he's supposed to respond again, and the awkward stretch of silence that results is insufferable at best. He rushes out his next sentence. "I didn't know you worked here."
You happily nod. "Every Tuesday and Thursday. Sometimes weekends."
"I only come when Y/N's working," Seokmin reminds everyone of his presence. "They make the best coffee."
You visibly blush at that, "Ah, stop that. Seokmins easy to please, as long as it's sweet he's not too picky. I'd take his word with a grain of salt." Another pause. It's truly a wonder how Wonwoo manages to stay at the top of his class yet struggles to uphold a perfectly mundane conversation. He's stuck just marveling at you, cute and clad in your brown barista apron.
"So," you drawl out. "Were you looking to order anything?"
Right. He's at a coffee shop. He should order coffee. Wonwoo's eyes dart to the menu above your head, relieved he has an excuse to do something other than stand there like a deer in headlights.
"Sorry, it's his first time here." Seokmin whispers. Wonwoo is pretty sure he wasn't supposed to hear it, but his friend has never been great with subtlety.
"No worries, if you have any questions feel free to ask."
Why do you have to be so... radiant? Sweet. Patient. Kind. You. Geez, Wonwoo is down. Bad. Has been since the first day of class when you asked to borrow a pen. Even more so the second day when you took the empty seat next to him to return the utensil and never bothered getting up.
He nearly died when you asked for his number the following week. Claiming you'd need at least one friend in class to get through an entire semester of high-level calculus. Wonwoo isn't used to receiving the amount of attention you've invested in him. Usually, he finds a seat on the aisle and keeps to himself for the few classes he doesn't share with a friend. But you seemed to have no problem claiming him as your "calculus buddy" as you liked to call it, despite the multitude of empty seats you had to choose from.
And as much as Wonwoo doesn't want to be the fool that falls in love with the first person to show the slightest interest in him, he can't help but get a little giddy on the days he has calculus. The odds are stacked against him when it comes to his feelings for you. It's been two months since you asked for that pen, yet he still finds your presence warmer than the sun itself.
Though, at least he knows when he'll see you for class and can mentally prepare himself to not say something completely and utterly embarrassing for the hour you're next to him. But he's never considered the possibility of running into you beyond the walls of the mathematics building. So you can imagine the inner turmoil in his brain as he tries to formulate a way to get through this interaction with his ego unscathed.
"Uh, Wonwoo, you're holding up the line, buddy." Seokmin nudges him.
The line in question is just an elderly couple who seem like they couldn't care less about the wait. Rather caught up in surveying the pastry selection.
"Just get whatever you do at that other place," Seokmin suggests. Which is a genius idea, except another quick scan of the menu reveals you don't offer it.
Wonwoo looks to his friend pleadingly, "What did you get?"
Luckily, Seokmin is as perceptive today as he is sociable and extends Wonwoo a lifeline. "Why don't you just surprise him?" He says, which seems to pique your interest. "You can trust Y/N, that's how I found my favorite drink here!"
"I can do that!" Wonwoo isn't one for surprises. Though the excitement that’s radiating from your person at the proposition has Wonwoo agreeing instantly. "Any allergies or preferences?"
"No, just nothing too sweet, iced if you can."
You nod and scribble something down on a clear cup.
Seokmin pays, and Wonwoo couldn't be happier to hide away in a booth in the furthest corner of the room. He lets his head fall into his hands, propped up on the table by his elbows. That couldn't have gone any worse. Wonwoo groans as someone shuffles into the seat across from him. He peeks through his fingers at who it is.
Seokmin's chin is rested in his palms, elbows propping him up all the way across the table to lean in way too close to Wonwoo. Judging by the wide, knowing grin on Seokmin's face, there's no escaping his friend's inevitable prying curiosity.
"Sooo... how do you know, Y/N?"
"We have calculus together," Wonwoo says shortly, hoping to curve Seokmin off the topic. It doesn't work, of course.
"I see, I see," his friend nods, pauses, then says, "And how long have you had a crush on them?"
The blunt question sends Wonwoo sputtering, drawing the attention of nearby patrons as he slaps his chest, trying to regain his composure and lung capacity. He mutters out apologies with pink-tinged cheeks to the surrounding tables. Clearing his throat once more, Wonwoo glares back at his instigator, who's wiggling his eyebrows, a little too happy with himself.
"That long, huh?"
"I'm never coming back here with you."
"Oh come on," Seokmin whines. "It wasn't that bad."
"I'm writing my Will tonight. You'll never see or hear from me again. I'm going to live in the woods far, far, away from any life on earth. Become a hermit and– what?" Wonwoo deadpans, giving his friend an incredulous look upon noticing his expression of wild bewilderment.
"Nothing," Seokmin put up his hands in surrender. "It's just weird seeing you like this. I mean, I've never seen your brain actually malfunction like that before. Like, you really—"
"I'm leaving."
"—Okay, okay, sorry." He grins sheepishly. "You're really worked up over them, huh? It's endearing. I feel like I've seen a new side to you Wonny!"
Wonwoo just sighs, giving up completely on trying to stop his friend's teasing. It's better if he just endures it until he eventually moves on to another topic.
"So, how do you plan on asking them out?"
"I'm not."
"What!?" Seokmin loudly exclaims, and Wonwoo shushes him as all attention falls on their table once more. He speaks again, though this time in a whisper. "Why not?"
Wonwoo shrugs, "I dunno, they're just so lively and outgoing and confident. I doubt I'm even their type." It's not that Wonwoo lacks any or all confidence in his character. Contrary to what others may think, he's quite content with himself. Hasn't ever felt a need to alter his personality or conform to those around him for the sake of making friends.
But people like you should really be with... well... people like you. Like Seokmin or Mingyu or hell, even Joshua.
It's Seokmin's turn to glare at Wonwoo now. "Wonwoo, my friend, my buddy, my pal. I say this to you with unwavering, trustworthy, unbiased—" Wonwoo doubts that "—factual, one hundred percent, certainty. You are like, the perfect boyfriend."
Wonwoo scrunches his face up at that.
"I'm serious!" Seokmin slaps his hands down on the wooden table, making it rattle, and starts listing off traits with his fingers. "Wonwoo, listen, your boyfriend-ability potential is through the roof. You're smart, built, super attentive, have great bone structure, and you've got that shy, quiet, mysterious, gamer-guy charm to you. People really dig that nowadays."
Wonwoo chews at his lip. As over-the-top and exaggerated as his friend's dazzling reviews of his supposed "boyfriend-ability" may be, it really does wonders to boost the morale. It has Wonwoo's confidence soaring, a newfound determination burning in his chest. Maybe he will ask you out.
Until the air around their table shifts and a fluttering presence eclipses any short-lived ambition.
"Sorry for the wait," You're smiling down at Wonwoo, two plastic cups in hand. "It took a while to figure out what you might like. But then I remembered you usually have something with caramel every time you come to class. Though if you hate it I'm more than happy to remake something for you!"
You're blushing madly, but all Wonwoo can focus on is the fact you pay him enough attention from day to day to know the contents of his coffee order.
You set the cup down in front of him, then hand Seokmin his. "I hope you enjoy!"
Wonwoo's useless brain fails him once more. "You too."
You're off and back behind the counter before Wonwoo registers his mistake. That's like strike twelve for him at this point.
"Ah, young love." Seokmin interrupts Wonwoo's sulking, biting down on his straw with the corner of his mouth.
"Shut up."
Wonwoo picks up his cup and examines its contents. It's noticeably darker and thinner than Seokmin's, but he still can't really tell what exactly it is. However, you'd think the coffee was brewed with holy water and magic fairytale beans by the way Seokmins already sucked down half of his.
Wonwoo rotates the cup, squinting at the scribbles of black sharpie on the side. Dark roast, spiced caramel, rosemary, oat milk.
"Rosemary?" He reads, shooting a look at his friend who stops slurping on his own to shrug. "That's an odd flavor."
"I've learned not to question Y/N's expertise long ago, they know what you like even if you don't. It's sort of creepy." He visibly shudders.
"What's yours?"
"Dark chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and whole milk, extra sweet."
"Fruit? In coffee? That doesn't sound like it'd be good." Wonwoo frowns, suddenly doubting the efficacy of his own beverage.
"Shall I go tell Y/N you think they're a terrible barista then?"
"No!" Wonwoo answers a little too quickly and a little too loud. He clears his throat. "—I mean, no, no it's fine. I'm merely saying it's unique, is all."
Seokmin places his hand over Wonwoo's wrist and physically shoves the cup toward his lips, causing the straw to jab into his skin. "Ow!" He complains, swatting at his arm.
"Oh my God, just drink it. I promise it'll be better than whatever boring, run-of-the-mill, bean-water, you get from that other place."
Wonwoo frowns and grumbles, "It's not boring." But he knows that's far true.
Hesitantly, he takes a sip. The spiced caramel hits his tongue first. It's a warm flavor, a pleasant contrast to the drink itself being cold. Then the rosemary edges in with a strong, yet not too overpowering taste. The oat milk blends everything together smoothly and leaves a nice aftertaste.
"Wow," the word slips out. Wonwoo pulls the drink back to examine it again, eyes wide. It's easily the best thing he's ever tasted, far better than, as Seokmin put it, his usual run-of-the-mill order. Wonwoo can't even fathom how your mind came up with a drink so addicting. If God is real, then Wonwoo's positive they have a dazzling smile and work at Seokmin's favorite coffee shop.
"Good, right?" Seokmin grins.
"Amazing."
"You know, if you asked Y/N out they'd probably make your coffee any time you asked~"
That's a pretty convincing argument.
Tumblr media
Wonwoo likes his routine. And he's quite fond of his regular coffee shop, so he still frequents there to study.
Except for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
And sometimes weekends.
"Hi, Wonwoo," you greet with your usual bright smile. "Same as usual?"
"Yes, please." He matches your smile, having finally recovered from the catastrophe that was his first visit. Ever since Seokmin let it slip how you'd been gushing about Wonwoo to him ever since you discovered they were friends, he's been feeling a little more confident.
"You know, if you ever want to try something new, I won't be offended." You narrow your eyes at him. But Wonwoo just shakes his head at you, chuckling.
"Eh, I try not to stray from what I already know too much."
"Oh, so that's why you haven't gotten rid of me as your calculus buddy yet." You quip.
"Among other reasons." He shrugs, lips pulling back into a toothy grin. Wonwoo fishes into his back pocket, pulling out his wallet to thumb through his cards.
"It's okay, it's on the house today."
Wonwoo looks up, brows furrowed. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah! I always give my favorite customers free coffee on Sundays." By the way your eyes quickly dart back at your other coworkers, Wonwoo doubts the validity of that.
"Well, I'll have to pay you back somehow."
"Next week's homework would be great!" You grin cheekily.
"Hmm," Wonwoo thinks for a moment, readjusting his glasses. "I would, but I haven't started it yet. Could I offer to take you out instead?"
"I would like that very much."

Since President Joe Biden signed the IRA in August 2022, 51 solar factories have been announced or expanded in the US.
5. Researchers have identified a new pack of endangered gray wolves in California
Tumblr media
A new pack of gray wolves has shown up in California’s Sierra Nevada, several hundred miles away from any other known population of the endangered species, wildlife officials announced Friday.
It’s a discovery to make researchers howl with delight, given that the native species was hunted to extinction in California in the 1920s. Only in the past decade or so have a few gray wolves wandered back into the state from out-of-state packs.

The Little Pumpkin King (Bob Floyd x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Auggie wants to carve the giant pumpkin he picked out at the pumpkin patch, but what happens when Bob lets him do it all by himself?
"HEEEEEEELP!!!!!! DADDY HELP ME!!!!!"
Bob came barreling down the stairs a minute later at the sound of Auggie's shrieks. "Auggie?! Auggie what's wrong?" he asked frantically.
"I got eaten by a pumpkin!!"
Bob had to stifle a laugh when he saw Auggie half submerged into his giant pumpkin in the middle of the living room, his legs sticking straight up in the air.
"Ok, ok gimme a sec buddy," Bob said as he made his way into the living room.
"Looks like your mini-me bit off a little more than he could chew," Joe chuckled as he stuck the milk back in the fridge.
"No shit, Dad," Bob laughed as he grabbed Auggie by the ankles and lifted him up, pumpkin mess and all. Thank God he had put newspapers down when he had rolled the pumpkin inside.
"I'm covered in guts," Auggie chirped as he was set down.
"Yeah and you'll need a bath later, little man," Bob informed him. "You and your brother."
Bob reached in and fished out Auggie's glasses which had fallen off his face, carefully rinsing them off in the sink and handing them right back. As soon as he was all set, Bob set to helping Auggie scoop out the rest of the bright orange insides of the pumpkin which filled up three large milk pales from the barn. All the while he thought about all the delicious things to be made with it, pumpkin soups, cookies, cakes, pies, oatmeal, butter and a whole host of other delicious and useful things.
Auggie jumped with excitement as you came in the door with Patrick, setting him right down on the floor, your back creaking a little as your seven and a half month bump became a little more noticeable through your orange knit sweater.
"(Y/n) you ok?" Bob asked.
"Oh yeah I'm fine sweetie," you assured him. "All I had was Patrick. Your mom went to the store last I saw to get some dinner supplies."
You were barely in the door, just having gotten Patrick from the preschool at the Waldorf school where Auggie and the other Dagger kids attended kindergarten and where you yourself had taught ever since moving to Bozeman. Half days were always the best, your students being dismissed from your third grade classroom faster than you could blink while you got to pack up before noon and head home to Bob and your family. Auggie ran right up to you, protectively hugging your bump and resting his head right on it before you had a chance to hang your purse up on the hook.
"I see somebody took a dive into the pumpkin," you laughed.
"He sunk about halfway in before I had to pull him out by his ankles," Bob answered, unable to hid the grin on his face.
You laughed again before you joined your husband and son on the floor, carving the monster pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern that even the most frightening of ghouls could be proud of.
