JUSTICE LEAGUE INCARNATE
Awful lot of love letters being written, these days. Why can’t people just write comics?
Joshua Williamson’s nod to all things Grant Morrison and, of course, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Don’t get me wrong, this is a decent jaunt through multiple DC realities - all setting the scene for Justice League 75 and the ‘Dark Crisis’ event. And there’s a great selection of artists, all contributing without it feeling jarring. But, as with most Joshua Williamson stories, it’s all a tribute to stories we’ve seen before. They’ve been done and done better.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5

Between the MCU and His Dark Materials I am sick to death of “multiverses” as a plot device, and I don’t know or care to know what “Dark Crisis” is all about, but despite those red flags I enjoyed this Justice League Incarnate book quite a bit. Taken on its own it is a fun sequel to Multiversity with some good character bits with Calvin Ellis and Thomas Wayne. I particularly liked the Vertigo-esque Earth-13 segment by the great Kyle Hotz:
It’s not the worst DC comic I’ve ever read, plus Captain Carrot is featured throughout. I give this one two and a half stars, JLA Classified says check it out.

Damian Wayne takes center stage in the latest Dark Crisis tie in as well as Red Canary. However after reading it I feel like the writers did not read the Joshua Williamson Robin book because of how Damian is written in this thing. He’s written like such an asshole in it. Wasn’t there Robin book all about him maturing? Why is he acting like this? Did nobody at editorial check for consistency with his character?
