Okay, so, pet peeve. It's not huge but it will throw me out of any comic or fic I read.
Alfred Pennyworth doesn't follow the precise rules of formal address expected of a butler. If he did, he would address Bruce, the master of the house, only as "Master Wayne" or "the Master" and Dick, the eldest son, only as "Master Richard," but he doesn't because he's not just a butler, he's family.
That said. He follows a semi-formal pattern of address well enough that there are certain things we can extrapolate that he would never do. And a big one of those is that he would never address ANYONE as "Mistress [Name]."
Martha Wayne may have been called "the Mistress of the House" when she was alive. If Bruce ever manages to successfully get married to a woman, that title will pass to his wife, who would potentially be addressed as "Mistress" if that was her preference. But even she would still be called "Miss Selina" or "Miss Talia" or whomever when addressed by her first name.
The only women who wouldn't be addressed as Miss are those with specialized titles, such as Dr. Tompkins or Detective Montoya, or elders, who would be addressed as either Missus or Madame depending on their station. Mrs. Mac, for example, wasn't necessarily married (I think she was widowed?) "Missus" is the housekeeper's title whether she's married or not. Even Lois would likely be addressed by her professional name, "Miss Lane," as opposed to "Mrs. Lane-Kent" or whatever her married name is.
For that matter, Superman wouldn't be "Master Clark," nor would he use "Miss Barbara," "Miss Helena" or even "Miss Stephanie." None of those people are members of the Wayne household or extended family (like Bruce's cousin "Miss Katherine"), even if they are close friends, nor are they children. He's usually written to call them "Master Kent," "Miss Gordon," "Miss Bertinelli" and "Miss Brown" respectively. Christian names are for the family.
Though honestly, I'll usually give those last ones a pass simply because Alfred does break the rules with the family so much I can definitely see him extending that respect to the found family of their superhero cadre as well. It's just, like I said, when people start dropping "Mistress" in there that it throws me.
He just... He wouldn't use that word guys. He just wouldn't. It's so awkward. Please please stop using it, it sounds so stiff and wrong.

Meanwhile, book author Graham Sterling (Buckley) is given hard advice about his most recent manuscript. He hears an interview with Meg on the radio and seeks her out to audition his new novel. Graham has been advised to avoid writing about a subject of which he knows nothing, which is also Meg’s recommendation. Against her better judgment, she agrees to the book discussion idea. In spending time together, Meg and Graham begin to fall in love. As they draw closer, Meg discovers that taking over the bookstore is ultimately what makes her happy. Graham realizes the advice that is hard to hear is what will make him a better writer.

After a somewhat rocky start, Sheriff Forrest begins to recognize what acquiring the iconic locket can mean to the local community, so he joins Amelia in the race to find the antique before any of the competition can decipher the clues and beat them to the treasure. As their pursuit of the locket intensifies, so do their feelings for each other. With the help of a DNA test, Amelia learns that Ruby’s father T.J. Cota (Di Pace) lives nearby. Meanwhile, the endearing T.J. is a professional guitarist who hasn’t found success the way he always dreamed. Amelia makes contact, and to her surprise, T.J. wants to meet Ruby. T.J. has a huge family, and suddenly Ruby’s family tree has sprouted leaves! Romance take flight as Amelia gets to know T.J. and is invited to take part in his family’s Mexican traditions. Along the way, Amelia’s protective instincts — both for herself and her daughter — are challenged, especially when T.J. gets the chance of a lifetime to join a major musical tour. With the help of an adorable little girl who has a big heart and a thousand questions, Amelia and T.J. discover that family trees can be complicated and wonderfully unique, especially when love is what ties everyone together.

How are venus square mars women like????
I don’t look at gender when it comes to astrology! I know seven people with this placement (but if you’re curious, six are women anyway)!
A lot of this applies to all Venus-Mars aspects, which I also have so..... I’m callin’ myself out here.
- Creative! To be honest, it’s difficult for me to differentiate which placements and signs are creative, because I studied something creative in college and university, so the vast majority of people I know are creative anyway. So I double-checked a book and it’s confirmed! Haha
- Commonly, but not always, the types of people to really need relationships and attention. ‘cause of this they can be quite... “I need a partner and I need one right now.” I know two girls in very long term relationships (one since childhood), one cheated on her partner but stayed because she didn’t know how to be without him, really? I know a guy who definitely went between a lot of women, a serial monogamist, another woman who had an affair... so basically, attention is big for them. As it is for most people, but I suppose it makes sense for a hard aspect to not really know how to express or deal with their desires healthily.
- Generally sex is pretty damn important, but again, not always. Can stem from the above point.
- Actually, it’s pretty interesting that two of them have cheated. I have the charts of 12 cheaters and more of them had different aspects other than the square, but I didn’t count them... still. Here’s a quote from Aspects in Astrology by Sue Tompkins;
“I know of no combination as likely to get itself involved in extramarital affairs and complicated romantic triangles as this one - though it may be their partner that is romantically involved in two places at once.”
Please don’t read this as “venus square mars = cheaters”. What it can mean is Mars bringing the element of competition. Now that can manifest in infidelity, it’s excitement, adrenaline, two people competing for you in your mind... or it can mean you like fun kinky sex, you like to compete and play games with your partner, anything along the lines of competition!
- They just like excitemeeeeeent and don’t we all! I asked one for a date idea once and she said a hot air balloon ride! They want FUN in their relationships! It’s not enough to just chill on the sofa and watch movies for them, unfortunately!
- They’re completely open about their love and sex lives. Sometimes too much. But to be fair, rarely unprompted? In my experience they haven’t been the type to bring it up, but if questioned or even reminded, they will, y’know?
Fun fact: Katherine Hepburn had the square too, so look into her love life! You could definitely find something.
[ko-fi]
I kept forgetting that I had the sextile writing this, and re-reading it like... yeah I called myself out smh

Introducing | NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship Program Recipients and Finalists
Tumblr media
NYFA has awarded a total of $644,000 to 95 New York State artists.
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced the recipients and finalists of the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship program, which it has administered for the past 31 years with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The organization has awarded a total of $644,000 to 95 artists (including three collaborations) whose ages range from 25-84 years throughout New York State in the following disciplines: Crafts/Sculpture, Digital/Electronic Arts, Nonfiction Literature, Poetry, and Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts. Fifteen finalists, who do not receive a cash award, but benefit from a range of other NYFA services, were also announced. A complete list of the Fellows and Finalists follows.
The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship Program makes unrestricted cash grants of $7,000 to artists working in 15 disciplines, awarding five per year on a triennial basis. The program is highly competitive and this year’s recipients and finalists were selected by discipline-specific peer panels from an applicant pool of 2,744. Since it was launched in 1985, the program has awarded over $31 million to more than 4,400 artists.
“Being an artist is hard work, and a struggle for many; a recent report by New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs found that 40% of the artists surveyed cannot afford art supplies and tools,” said Michael L. Royce, Executive Director, NYFA. “This sobering figure is one of the reasons why we are proud to support artists across New York State with unrestricted grants. For 31 years, artists of all disciplines have put the money towards anything that helps make their lives and practice easier, including buying the supplies and time they need to make their art and push their careers forward” he added.
New York State Council on the Arts Chair, Dr. Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel, said: “The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship program supports New York State’s creative communities, and NYSCA is proud of our leadership role in this nearly 32-year collaboration with NYFA. Since 1985, NYSCA has provided $31 million in funding for this critical program. Each individual grant helps the recipient more freely engage in imaginative work, and expand the boundaries of creative media. It is gratifying to know that this program has made a real difference in the daily lives of thousands of artists, throughout New York State."
Richard Barlow of Oneonta, New York, was awarded a Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts. He expressed that “the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is an incredible validation of my work as a visual artist. As a relative newcomer to New York State, it also feels like an acknowledgement that I have established a successful art practice and presence in my new home.” He added that the money will “offset many of the costs of maintaining an active artistic practice: travel, shipping, residencies, materials, promotion, fabrication, etc., and in doing so will alleviate financial pressures and open some mental breathing room to allow for more creative work.”
Neda Toloui-Semnani, a Fellow in Nonfiction Literature from Brooklyn, New York, shared the following about her fellowship: “The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship has given me, a nonfiction writer, the luxury of resource. It has given me both peace of mind and a great deal of joy because I get to see through the final reporting and writing of my first book without compromising. It’s an extraordinary gift.”

Buncombe County Wills and Estates
Buncombe county was formed in 1791 from parts of Burke County and Rutherford Counties. It was named for Edward Buncombe, a colonel in the American Revolutionary War, who was captured at the Battle of Germantown. The large county originally extended to the Tennessee line. Many of the settlers were Baptists, and in 1807 the pastors of six churches including the revivalist Sion Blythe formed the French Broad Association of Baptist churches in the area. In 1808 the western part of Buncombe County became Haywood County. In 1833 parts of Burke County and Buncombe County were combined to form Yancey County, and in 1838 the southern part of what was left of Buncombe County became Henderson County. In 1851 parts of Buncombe County and Yancey County were combined to form Madison County. Finally, in 1925 the Broad River township of McDowell County was transferred to Buncombe County.
