Imagine being the dj at the balley. It's a voodopunk party so you're basically guaranteed to be high off your gourd, then two people fall over and people scream so you stop the music. This woman that looks completely out of place shows up like 2 seconds after they dropped and announce they're cops-to-be-in-20-years and she's talking to what you can only vaguely make out as a rodent in her breastpocket. They talk to a bunch of people but many of the attendees are probably getting annoyed that the party is stopped and your like 50% percent sure you're hallucinating anyways so you start the music back up, and regardless it's not like the cops have told you stop it in the first place. Then, when the part is done, probably at like 07:30 or something, you look around the now mostly empty venue and the corpses are still there but the supposed cops aren't and you're not even sure what's actually really happened or not only to later find out through proper police questioning that the only other people to corroborate your fever dream about the weird girl and her pet rat or whatever are two of the wealthiest people in town and their now absent situationship boytoy. The entire investigation goes nowhere and it becomes one of those unsolved cases that gets talked about in true crime podcasts, and the people making those swear it has something to do with this rural story of some voodoopunks way back when that died under similarly misterious circumstances after getting involved with Warner and Osborn only for the murderer to be turned into a frog. Then one day, some 20 or so years later, you happen to pass by a celebration for some monorail or whatever and you hear a scream only for a tiny green child to drag the woman you saw at the balley, wearing the same clothes, not looking a day older, carrying a fucking mouse in her blouse into the venue. You wait around and see them come out of the building carrying a gold necklace and talking about a job well done. The news reports no culprit was ever caught.

The Secret Series is honestly so much better than I expected. I thought there was no way that it would be as good as Lost Hollow or the New Albion Tetralogy but they're actually really really good and really useful because they explain so much about what was going in in the New Albion Radio Hour and the New Albion Guide to Analogue Consciousness. Not to mention they're excellent. I might even prefer Nash Harding to Analogue Consciousness

Kevin and Abi are actually so funny as a concept. They're actual honest-to-god licensed detectives who like to roleplay as a television murder mystery show during active cases. Kevin is obsessed with making horrible jokes. Abi spends the entire first case trying to come up with a catchphrase only to improv something at the end that sticks. This case started because they just happen to cross the path of a girl named Ryver D Goblin, who decides to just kinda stick around after since she has nothing better to do. Ryver is a hyperviolent kleptomaniac that randomly stops to sing whenever there's a oddly relevant Goblin tale for the situation (to be fair, they all sing but Ryver is the only one who can tell and, conversely, the only one other people notice singing). Also I remember someone on here mentioning she could genuinely just be making shit up since she's the only survivor of her entire world and I've been obsessed with that ever since. Based on the two cases we've seen of them they should be considered horrible at their job, even though they solve both cases. Abi uses magic and the threat thereof in probably illegal ways. Kevin is a mouse. There's a magical golden pendant that makes tealeaves. Aliens check your butt because of a totally-not-gay elf and goblin who dream of being roommates one day. At the end of the second case a might-as-well-be-a-god decides to kill himself and is stopped because his great-granddaughter adoptiveways he didn't know he had tells him his queerplatonic soulmate is in hell, this has nothing to do with anything else in these particular albums.

Some extra details under the cut for any who happen across this and don't know the shaperaverse yet. It contains spoilers for the mystery in both albums.

Their first case they solve several decades before the first murder takes place and also they straight up kidnapped the culprit Ryver keepshim around somewhere. Their second case they actively decide to hide the culprit because the victim actually didn't mind being murdered and drawing attention to his murder would inconvenience him.

Steffi Love rolls in

Articulated Steffi Love has been on my wish list for years, all the way back to when Steffi didn't show up in the U.S. much and was rarely articulated. So when I found this Steffi for $14.99, I knew I needed to bring her home. She won over a similar Steffi on a Vespa by virtue of having a baby to be friends with Kid Kore Alison.

If you squint at the back of the box, you can see that I got her at TJ Maxx -- a fact I'm in danger of forgetting, as Monte Vista Crossing has a TJ Maxx, a Ross, and a Home Place right in a row.

She is fastened into the box, and to her bicycle, with about a million tiny clear rubber bands. This was so annoying to undo! Not only were the rubber bands difficult to all find, but then I had to worry about making sure not one single fragment of tiny rubber band got away, lest the cats eat them. Oh, and she had a sewn-in hair strip. Steffi emerges from the box immaculate.

A few pics before cutting her free from her bicycle. She has met up with Kylie, who has a lot to discuss with her.

Let's cut to the chase. Judging from the amount of pics in my file, I love photographing Steffi. However, her body and articulation are not top notch. She's made of a very light plastic, similar to my Chinese imports in the Body Farm. However, she has the Liv-style waist.

Since there are a million more photos, it's jump time.

Steffi can sit like a lady but needs help staying in a chair. Her front-to-back splits are great (and she can point her toes). She cannot stand unassisted, even with her feet flat. Her side-to-side splits are pretty good! She can kneel but will tip over. And her arm joints are weirdly, inexplicably tight.

But she can touch her own face.

Steffi Love's lore is ambiguous on whether Evi Love is her sister or her daughter. Yes, unlike Barbie, Steffi has children! She has been pregnant in more editions than any other named fashion doll. She is sold in "family" sets with her husband (sometimes just "partner") Kevin and children who are sometimes Evi's age and sometimes babies.

(Canonically, Steffi was originally dating or married to Danny Love [there is a wedding set], who looked disturbingly like Superstar Ken. In 1994, without immediately discontinuing Danny, Simba introduced Kevin Love, who at that time had rooted hair. Kevin also rode a motorcycle. It seems that Steffi deloped with Kevin, who has persisted as the male character to this day.)

So that baby on the bicycle? He's her kid. I cannot find any canonical names for any of Steffi's babies (sometimes, she has twins), so I looked up popular German baby names. "Noah Love" seemed unfortunate, but "Theo Love" is not too bad.

Theo is smaller than Kid Kore Alison, with a different sit.

I am saying nothing of the dog. The bicycle, however, is fabulous. Everything moves that should move.

Steffi had a lot to discuss with Kylie because Kylie is dating Anthony. In my continuity, back during his brief era of hip-hop stardom, Anthony married Steffi, who was then a model. They had twins Evi and Abi -- and in one of those flukes that really happens, Evi took after Anthony while Abi took after Steffi. Anthony and Steffi co-parent amicably. Kylie likes Steffi, because she doesn't have a lot of other friends in the community with extensive articulation. Plus Steffi has contacts for building Kylie's fitness influencer business.

Theo is not Anthony's baby. Theo is the son of Silvester, the Kid Kore gladiator, who is now Steffi's partner in this continuity.

Steffi has changed clothes. Unsurprisingly, dollar-store fashions fit her readily. She can also wear some of the too-small shoes from the stash of Shoes That Were Leaving, so I need to go through that again.

The blended family hasn't quite worked out their pose for holiday cards yet. Steffi is quite something: from one angle, she'll look cheap, then with a change of pose, she's surprisingly expressive. I feel like she's a good addition to the community.

hpma sleep headcanon time!

When going to bed, Elliott prefers to wear as minimal clothing as possible. He doesn’t really care for pyjamas because he gets too hot that way. He’s usually just in his underwear, and NEVER wears his binder to bed. He either just wears a normal tank or nothing at all. This is why his family doesn’t enter his room when he wakes up, at around 6-7ish. At sleepovers, he just wears a tank and shorts, like this;

Elliott also moves around a lot before sleeping. He’ll occasionally hug the closest thing to him, or knock his glasses off his nightstand, which can be inconvenient. He also has very weird dreams, especially about Cassandra. When he was around the ages of five to nine, he used to have horrible nightmares of his family pushing him away because he turned into a monster.

Moving on from that, Daniel is a night owl. Like, he’ll stay up until 2AM before passing out just to work on this potion or his homework or whatever. It’s gotten so bad that on school breaks, Esme literally has to spike his drinks with melatonin just for him to get some sleep. When he does, Daniel doesn’t have dreams that he can remember. However, the things he CAN remember are dreams about his family, specifically Mum. (Edit: I can see Daniel having dreams of being a baby again) He occasionally shares a bed with Esme, but that usually was mostly because one of them was sick. Then, Y3 happened, and Daniel started doing so more often just to be there for her, even if she wasn’t sick. He occasionally has some bouts of sleep paralysis that don’t last very long, but still terrifying. If you find an old post by @chemzee, then you’ll see her(?) interpretation of Daniel’s sleepwear (+ Ivy’s)

Ivy usually goes to bed early, but sometimes randomly wakes up at 3AM because the pie demon demands her to do so. She often has normal dreams, but sometimes she has some about her reflection coming to life and taking a mind of it’s own, or any other Winnie-related dreams

Winnie goes to bed later than Ivy and wakes up at 5ish. However, during the winter months, she becomes a heavier sleeper, often sleeping until 12PM if circumstances allow her to do so. She prefers one of those full-body pjs so she won’t get cold quicker. She prefers to sleep in the top bunk and moths seem to really like a certain corner of her room at their mother’s house.

Lottie usually dreams of being with her parents. She is also a night owl, but it’s not as bad as Daniel’s situation. She tends to draw more surreal things at night, which leads to some people thinking she’s on Skittles. She don’t care what clothes she wears before she goes to bed. And yes, she occasionally sleeps in jeans.

Robyn is early to rise, and early to bed. Or, more specifically, sleeps at seven, wakes at seven. She's usually the first to fall asleep at sleepovers, which leaves her vulnerable to Troy and Cole pretending to cut out her tonsils. She's also a sleeptalker, and some people record it because they think it's funny.

Kevin has the same sleep schedule as Robyn, except he usually goes to bed around 10ish. It's mostly due to homework assignments and a lot of overthinking. He also moves around a lot when sleeping. And yes, even during the dream stage.

Abi occasionally takes naps during the day if circumstances allow her. But at night, she often sleeps with her scarf on as well as some pjs I've drawn her in before. During that time of the month, she sleeps in what looks like the most uncomfortable positions known to man and often wakes up with symptoms that are basically an alcohol-free hangover. She swallowed a hare once.

Cass is surprisingly a heavy sleeper. Not even the loudest noises could wake her up but. Somehow, she usually gets up around 5-6, but when she doesn't, she's usually affected by the malady.
