Ed, Killing, and the Kraken in Our Flag Means Death S1 and S2
This meta contains a whole heckuva a lot of spoilers for Our Flag Means Death seasons 1 and 2. Thanks to @petrichorca who gave it a read through and left some helpful comments!
When we first get to know Ed in s1e4, the episode concludes with him telling his first mate, Izzy Hands, about his plans to murder Stede Bonnet and steal his identity so Ed can retire from piracy. Ed and Izzy discuss the plan in a casual manner, like this act isn't shocking or deviant from previous conversations and schemes Ed and Izzy have had before. This is consistent with how other characters, especially Black Pete, have described Blackbeard in previous episodes (‘when Blackbeard kills man, woman, or child…’). While Black Pete is (probably) lying, Buttons was with him until the flip.
As the song ‘The Empty Boat’ by Caetano Veloso plays, Izzy tells Ed, 'You've still got it' and Ed says, 'I know,' turning away to face the empty deck. Only the audience witnesses his true facial expression - the Blackbeard mask falling, a kind of dead-eyed exhaustion (echoed by the lyrics of the song) taking its place.
In s1e5, we see Ed threaten violence against the French captain, but he doesn't actually hurt the man himself. We also see him act as if he's about to go kill the French partygoers before Stede steps in and 'handles it'. At this point I think we the audience would, if asked, have said that Ed seems to have a casual attitude towards killing that you would expect from 'the legendary Blackbeard'. He's scary ('next one goes through your fucking eyeball') and almost cartoonishly violent ('skin him. And use the snail fork'). So we the audience maybe make some assumptions about where the show stands on violent killing - not only that Blackbeard is familiar with it, but that it's a commonplace act for him.
Then we come to a pivotal moment. In s1e6, Izzy pushes back on Ed for not killing Stede, there’s the conversation about doggy heaven, and Ed promises Izzy that he’ll be the one to do the killing. We see Ed hyping himself up (‘You’re a killer bro. So kill.’) and then holding his knife while standing next to Stede behind the curtain in the captain’s cabin. They’re interrupted by Lucius cutting off his finger. Ed doesn’t go through with it; the moment passes as Stede exits the curtain to announce the entrance of the Kraken.
At this point, I as an audience member fully believed that Ed couldn’t kill Stede because of his feelings for him. I wasn’t yet sure what those feelings were, but I knew that Ed had a deep affection for Stede, and for a moment I believed that was all that was holding him back. Then, of course, we see Ed have a PTSD/panic attack trigger from the Kraken fuckery that sends him into Stede’s bathtub, hiding underneath Stede’s robe, where he and Stede have what I believe is the most intimate moment of the entire first season (a reading supported by s2e3). Ed tells Stede, ‘The Kraken didn’t kill my dad. I did.’ We are shown the flashbacks to the way Ed’s father abused him and his mother, and the Kraken story he told on deck earlier is shown again with the figure of the beast in the water replaced by himself, as a young teen, on the dock.
Then Ed tells Stede, ‘If I’m being honest, I haven’t killed another man since.’ Stede tries to comfort him by reminding him how much he loves a good maim, but Ed is still preoccupied with how the fact that he killed his abusive father as a child means that he’s not a good person, and that this is why he doesn’t have any friends, aka, isn’t loveable. Stede tells him, ‘I’m your friend,’ in essence, To me, you are loveable, and Ed reacts by saying, ‘No,’ and banging his head against the tub.
The next important point happens in s1e8, when Jack invites himself to breakfast and regales Stede (very deliberately, as he’s trying to push Stede and Ed apart) with the tale of Ed setting a ship alight and killing many people. (Also note - the show’s first mention of Hornigold! ‘He treated us like dogs! Worse than dogs!’ and ‘Ground us down into nothing!’) While Jack emphasises the horror and brutality of what Ed did, Ed’s demeanour completely changes - ‘No, Stede doesn’t want to hear about that.’ Jack obviously doesn’t listen to Ed; Stede’s face passes from horrified listening to Jack to squinting at Ed like, ‘Is this - true?’ Ed looks thoroughly guilty as the story continues and Stede asks him, clearly doing his best to preserve Ed’s secret in front of Jack, ‘I thought you’d, uh, given up the killing?’ Ed surges forward in his seat and, not making eye contact with Stede, says, ‘Yeah, well, technically the fire killed those guys. Not me.’ The camera then cuts to Jack looking at Stede with a bit of an incredulous expression as if he’s both gauging Stede’s reaction to the entire thing and thinking, ‘Wow BB’s in deep here if he’s making up some weird story about not being the one who lit that fire.’
I don’t think the show intends for us to believe that Ed was consciously lying to Stede in the bathtub scene in s1e6. Instead, we see the complex way that Ed - who is shown to be both brilliant and possessed of an internal monologue that just cannot shut up - has constructed mental barriers to protect himself from the trauma of killing while still achieving the highest possible status in a very violent profession and existing in a world marred by colonial violence perpetrated specifically against people like him.
S1e9 shows Ed continuing to posture to everyone but Stede as Blackbeard, seasoned killer (for example, telling Chauncey that he barely remembers killing Nigel because he’s ‘a real “life is cheap” kinda guy’). At the Academy and briefly after, in the beginning of s1e10, Ed seems set to have given up killing and violence for real, but Izzy’s threats in the cabin in s1e10 send Ed reeling back to the Kraken persona he assumed when he killed his dad. The season concludes with him pushing Lucius off the ship and Krakening up to sail, rob, and raise hell forever - but the final shot shows Ed crying alone in his cabin, his Kraken makeup streaking down his face. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s one of my favourite scenes from a character perspective. Imagine if the season had ended with Ed fully transformed into the Kraken, rather than clearly miserable and heartbroken under his mask?
Season 2 begins with Ed trying to set a record for most consecutive raids, working his crew to death under brutal and traumatic conditions. His list of crimes on his wanted poster certainly suggests a lot of violence and killing, yet the show is careful to show us Ed himself only seeming to kill one person - firing a gun into a man’s back during a raid - and if you look closely, you’ll see that the man was already dying with a dagger through his body. It feels vital to me that the only direct ‘killing’ action we see Ed taking is shooting a man who we presume he can justify as having been already on his way to death.
In s2e1 and s2e2, Ed can’t kill Izzy, though he does try desperately to get Frenchie to do it for him. He can’t even kill himself, trying to get Izzy to do it instead. When he thinks Izzy has committed suicide with the gun he gave him, he says, ‘I loved you, best I could,’ as if any love Ed could give would by its nature not be good enough.
Ed wakes in s2e3 in the care of his old captain, Hornigold; of course, he’s really in the gravy basket and Hornigold is serving as a Jacob Marley-esque psychopomp. They key to Ed realising that he’s really [Buttons voice] ‘down in the old gravy basket’ is the conversation that concludes his attempts to be Jeff the Innkeeper. Hornigold tells Ed that he’s not good with people - after all, he did strangle his father. Ed reacts first with disbelief then cold fury, saying he never told anyone that; Hornigold reminds him that he told one person and Ed flashes back to telling Stede in the bathtub in s1e6; then Hornigold reminds him that the one person he told left him, and we see Ed crying under his Kraken makeup at the end of s1e10. Later, when Ed (finally, even Calico Jack would have had it sooner) realises that Hornigold represents himself, he says that he’s unloveable. Here’s the crux of it - he believes that he is fundamentally unloveable because he killed his father, because he is the Kraken, the monstrous beast capable of lethal violence. That’s why Stede left, his brain is telling him even as he’s dying.
Then Stede actually proves him wrong by returning, saving him from death, and telling him that he ‘love[s] everything about [him]’ in rapid succession. Whether or not Ed fully accepts this information, we do see him very quickly, yes, melt back into Stede’s arms. Which brings us to s2e6, and Stede’s killing of Ned Low.
Quick digression into killing and Stede: Stede accidentally kills a man in s1e1, is haunted by his ghost in s1e2. He’s so haunted by dead Nigel that he spends a lot of s1e2 asking first Oluwande and Jim for advice on being a ‘mur-der-er’, and then asking Black Pete how his former employer, Blackbeard (!!!) handled killing. (How Pete says, ‘When Blackbeard kills man, woman, or child-’ lives in my head at all times, Matt Maher with the line deliveries of all time.) Finally in s1e2, during his court-mandated therapy with the tribal elder, Stede admits that he doesn’t feel bad about killing Nigel - he was a horrible person even when he was a child! Stede's guilt is coming from somewhere else. We see this again in s1e9, when Stede says it is time for him to face the consequences for what he’s done - it might seem like he means for killing Nigel, since that’s why he’s about to face the firing squad, but we know that Stede’s guilt is about abandoning his family (the people he’s hurt!). Similarly, when Stede kills Ned in s2e6, he seems to get over it very quickly. Ned is clearly a bad guy, and although the act of killing him was traumatic for Stede (much like the act of killing Nigel), Stede presumably reconciles it by knowing that he was protecting Ed and his crew (and avenging Calypso’s birthday). Stede as a character is shown to have a tremendous amount of natural resilience. We later see him immolate a guy and dispatch a number of British soldiers without hesitation. Stede is also one of the two main protagonists of the show, and his attitude towards killing seems to reflect the attitude of the show itself - killing colonisers and torturers to protect your loved ones is ok, actually.
(Side note but I found this idea about how zero tolerance policies actually hurt victims very informative on the topic of why it's ok that Stede killed his childhood bully; I got that link from this very interesting post where several people are in conversation about how Ed is not Izzy's abuser.)
Back to Ed in s2e6. He asks Stede not to kill Ned; when Stede does anyway, Ed is visibly saddened and ignores Izzy telling him to give Stede a moment; instead he goes immediately to check in on Stede in his cabin. He knocks on the door and in that soft voice that he only ever uses with Stede, he starts to say, ‘Hey. You okay? Look, I was a wreck after my first kill as well.’ Then he pauses, before rambling, ‘I mean, well, it was my dad, so there's that,’ which feels like a little moment of self-reflection. Like. Yeah. Ed. Baby. You might be super fucked up about the act of killing because the first guy you killed was your dad, when you were a literal child! Also, Ed has never been to (as far as we know) court-mandated tribal elder therapy, so of course his decision to kill his father fucked Ed up for decades! Also as a very clever friend pointed out, we don’t know anything about what the consequences of that were for Ed - how did his mother react, is that why he ran away to sea, etc.
There's another important thing here that the audience knows, but that Ed has never told Stede (or, we have to assume, anyone) which is that the catalyst for Ed becoming the Kraken to kill his father was abuse. The audience is shown through his panic-attack-induced flashback that Ed's father physically and verbally abused his mother and presumably him too. All Ed has ever said to Stede or anyone about it, as far as we know, was his joke to the crew during scary story hour that his dad was a dick. Stede can probably infer roughly why Ed killed his dad, but he doesn't know the details, and he loves everything about Ed anyway, and now Ed knows that Stede does too.
So Ed and Stede have sex, and as many metas have pointed out (like this one!), it's so meaningful that Ed feels safe enough to give up his Blackbeard/Kraken identity the very next morning. He attempts to get Stede to see that it might be nice to not be pirates anymore due to the high chance of death but Stede manages to completely misread it and laughs it off. (To be fair to Stede, they're both horrible at communicating and Ed is not saying what he wants in any direct manner.) Ed proceeds to have his big beautiful brain start to spiral out of control as Jackie points out how popular Stede is becoming as a pirate; Ed panics, tells Stede he doesn’t even know who he is, and leaves to become a fisherman before he can get left (again!).
As Ed rows away from his failed career as a fisherman in s2e8, his boss Pop-Pop (who he has managed to recreate a fucked up father-son dynamic with that like so many things in his show is played for laughs but has pretty dark undertones) yells after him, 'If you were ever good at anything, go and do that, you bum.' Ed rows back into the port of the Republic of Pirates and sees the destruction Prince Ricky has wrought upon the pirate community. Ed's first thought is, Stede, and then he imagines Stede calling for help before straight up murdering two British soldiers. He remembers Pop-Pop's words and says, 'Have it your way,' before diving into the sea, retrieving his leather, putting it on underwater, and emerging from the waves fully dressed. It's fantastically hot and the exact level of drama I expect from this man. The Kraken musical cue is playing as it happens.
We now see Ed murdering British soldiers in the coolest ways possible, demonstrating his skill at fighting in hand to hand combat. One way to read him taking Pop-Pop's advice is that this is what he's good at - killing and violence.
But you know what Ed’s even better at? Protecting the people he loves. His mother, himself, and Stede. Each time Ed becomes the Kraken, he fulfils that. He protects his mother from his father, himself from Izzy after being warned that ‘[Edward] better watch his fucking step’, and Stede from the invading colonisers who want to destroy their freedom. But something has changed the third time he does it - this time, he can tell Stede that he loves him and he doesn't mean it as a tainted thing, but something that he knows Stede will treasure. He's both loveable and capable of loving. He always has been, of course, but now he knows it. The Kraken, the part of him that is capable of killing, was always a defence mechanism for Ed, but the third time he understands it and himself enough to know that it doesn’t make him a monster.

My birthday was a couple days ago, and I got to see my bio dad for the first time in a while. He surprised me with the fact that I have a little half-sister, whom I've never met and who was adopted about two years back. So, I wondered if any situations in BB mimic this or have a theme of "secret siblings" or "secret family"? Sorry if this is a weird ask; this blog is honestly just such a cool little place and I love the way you approach the subject matter and take the flawed misogynistic foundation of the WC books and make them so much better (JUSTICE FOR BUMBLE!!!). I've also learned a lot about healthy and unhealthy relationships here and am really glad for your deep dives on Squilf and Bramble. Thanks, Bones!
Not weird at all! I really like exploring all the little nooks and crannies of complicated familial dynamics. I think one of the untapped strengths of WC (that the writers seem to be unaware of) is how their MASSIVE cast allows them to present all sorts of unique dynamics. So I like to pick up on it, since they don't.
For secret siblings...
I'm pretty heavily leaning towards Ambermoon being adopted by Wildfur, as a surrogacy. Something feels correct about it. Especially since Icecloud is getting retooled into a post-Battle of the True Eclipse birth, and a major supporting character in AVoS-era stories as a friend of Alderheart.
Thinking about it, I should zoom in and expand this. Maybe have Icecloud, somehow, acquire forbidden knowledge that would invalidate the Queen’s Rights and he (transman) struggles with if he's going to use it to expose his parents as an excuse to help Ambermoon.
(Especially since Ambermoon and Icecloud are basically nothing alike. Amber is independent, bold, and vain. Ice is jessie pinkman big-hearted, disorganized, and deceptively meek if you look past his "chill" demeanor)
But that's wip-- there's also Breezepelt and the Three, who are going to have an actual friendship. In particular I can't unsee Breeze and Lion having a deep one. I know I commit the Cardinal Sin of borderline himbo-ifying Lionblaze in BB, but I can't help it.
Hollyleaf ended up nabbing a bunch of his most violent roles to make her villainous descent smoother narratively, so BB!Lionblaze's story ends up being more focused on Ashfur's abuse, comic relief with cats in other Clans (something that the very serious Jay and Holly have a hard time providing), and the emotional fallout of the big reveal and Bramblestar's turn on them. Breezepelt slots neatly into that.
They were friends. Lionblaze's whole life came down around the reveal, everyone looking at him and his siblings differently, like they're suddenly something terrible. Why can't we find a silver lining, Breezepelt? Why can't we call ourselves brothers if the whole world is going to do it anyway? So much is changing, but THIS doesn't have to, we will take their weapon and turn it to armor, my ally, my friend, my brother.
(and when Breezepelt is lashing out at the three because of the Dark Forest's influence, Lionblaze is there, taking the blows and trying not to give in to the impulse to send him flying with a single paw)
There's also Harespring and Kestrelflight of WindClan and Owlclaw of ShadowClan. All of them are from a single litter between Whitewater and Mudclaw. She was going to raise the three of them alone as ShadowClan cats, but when the sire was smote, Whitewater felt they were cursed.
She was able to give the oldest two to their bio-uncle, Torear, but the weather was so bad that day and the runt was so sickly and small that it surely would have killed him. I don't think Owlclaw ever finds out why his mother always treated him with suspicion, but it did mess him up horribly.
Over in BB!DOTC, Thunder Storm is getting more half-siblings earlier. Clear Sky and Falling Feather had two daughters-- Pale Sky and Tiger Sky.
I want to explore the way that the various stages of Clear Sky's life acted on his kids. How any little curiosity Thunder Storm had about the life he might have had if he wasn't abandoned is crushed by seeing kittens who weren't. How Clear's favoritism of his oldest child set the trio against each other from the start. How this idea of "love" is toxic yet intoxicating.
It feels good to be the golden child. The power it gives you over his sycophants is satisfying. To know you, and you alone, have what someone else craves. Problem is, that's conditional, and it's cruel.
What Thunder Storm learns from his time with his biodad is that Clear Sky is not his father at all. He's taught him exactly what he DOESN'T want to be. There may be similarities-- in temperament, in physical prowess (though BB!Thunder is three-legged, he's still ripped), in taste and senses. But Thunder Storm's father is Shaded Flower.
(BB!Gray Wing died in the first book, rescuing Shaded Flower from being trampled by a horse. Xey're a patron of wisdom, Shaded Moss is taking the role of fatherhood to Thunder)
His sister is Rainswept Flower. His mom is Bright Storm. If there was a bond he could have had with Tiger Sky and Pale Sky, it dies simply and cruelly on the knife they used to cut each other out.
Pale might have wanted to mend it, she was the gentler one. But she dies in the First Battle along with her mother. Tiger Sky is too stubborn to accept any help, should Thunderstar offer it, and Thunderstar isn't in the business of begging for others to like him.
Naturally I'm lowkey obsessed with them lmao. I need to make a BB!DOTC overviewww
#I have a perspective on half siblings colored by a dynamic in my family#The generation above me has two siblings who had an awful biodad and an amazing stepdad (who did officially adopt them)#And there was nothing ''natural'' or good about how one of them was obsessed with their biodad.#It was influenced by his surroundings and did nothing but drag an incredibly toxic man back into his sister's life#Over and over#But anyway the son used to tell me ''theres no half in siblings''#The daughter adored her halfbrother through the mother who raised them-- but was adamant that her biodad's newer kids were nothing to her#I guess I agree with the son. But not in the way he believes it#There's no half in siblings because you either Are. Or you are Not.#You have a shared experience with having that person as a parent or you don't. And that's what's unchanging.#It's not the blood; it's the sweat and tears. But anyhoo#Personal details of my life aside#Tiger Sky and Pale Sky are Clear's Dead Angel Fetus Children in-canon. I think that was Weird.#So instead I made them. Not. Dead angel fetus children....#They're characters now lmaoo#Better bones au#I think Tiger Sky (i call her Tigs in my head a lot) is one of my favorite kit saves ever though#She's not going to be from the last litter either. I haven't picked who the mom is yet but he does have even more#At least one of those is going to make a grab at power but um. Sparrow Heart will not react Well.#BASICALLY lads I'm cooking. My revamps of the DOTC characters basically write themselves because I am very fond of them.#Clear's youngest: ''OH I JUST CANT WAIT TO BE KI-"#Sparrowstar: ''-lled.''

Platonic Yandere Gojo making reader cry
Tumblr media
╔═══════ ೋღ 🌺 ღೋ ═══════╗
Tw: Yandere themes, abusive..?
He didn’t mean to, no. He didn’t want to be the reason for your tears.
You looked up at the ceiling, bored. You were tired of being locked up in your room with no freedom. You wanted to get out. To get out of your cage for loneliness.
Gojo was not dumb, he obviously let you have whatever you wanted, he loved you as a daughter after all. You were even allowed a phone but it was being monitored by a vpn.
You wanted to run away, to finally be free instead of being locked up all the time. You wanted to call for help but of course, no one is strong enough to defend you from Gojo Satoru. You’ll only get people killed so you decided that if you were going to escape, make sure you go far away as possible.
(First person pov)
A day ago, he was sent on a mission. I was left in this house alone. ‘This is a perfect opportunity….’
Without a second thought, i grabbed your own credit card and some money and shoved it in your pocket.
I had to act fast, there are cameras everywhere, he probably saw me picking up money and a credit card.
All the doors were locked, even the windows.
That leaves only one option…
I ran to Satoru’s room and towards a window. I slide it left and sure enough, it opened. I quickly jumped out before running.
‘If he catches me I’m dead’ I thought.
Running and running, I don’t dare to stop my feet. It’s been so long since i was last outside. Eventually, my legs gave out and I stopped by a park.
Panting, I feel someone put a hand on my shoulder.
I turn around to see Gojo…
“Uhhh…”
“I don’t want to hear it” he says. He grabs me and warps. Great, we’re back to where we started now…
(third person pov)
“Dear y/n…., why would you try to leave me?” Gojo started to say in a fake sweet tone, “I thought I’ve given you everything and a lot of freedom, perhaps you need to learn your lesson again, maybe then you’ll be grateful.”
Y/n’s eyes widened in shock, remembering the last punishment for when she tried to escape. Punishment.that mean legs being broken, cuts all around her body and many purple bruises.
“…” you tried to say something, but no words came out. Why isn’t my mouth working..?
Gojo grabbed you by the arm and started to drag you into the basement, he had a tight grip on your own. His aura was now a scary one, you were trembling, but he didn’t notice it at all.
Once Gojo had dragged you into the basement with no trouble at all, he threw you to the other side of the room harshly, you winced at the pain and started to tremble even more. You were so scared, so scared to even say anything.
“w-why are you d-d-doing t-this…j-just l-let m-m-me f-free..” You managed to get out.
“Aww but why when you can be with me forever?” Gojo said in a teasing and dangerous tone.
“Maybe I-i d-don’t w-w-want to…t-t-then…”
it should be true. It had to be true.
For some reason, this made Gojo really angry, he saw red, he snapped.
Gojo started to violently yell as you started at him in fear, why did you say that? You didn’t entirely hate him. He was yelling a lot now, this scared you. He wouldn’t stop his violent roars.
He raises his hand up which caused you to quickly back away and cry.
He started at you surprised.
You started to cry hard, thinking he’s going to hit you but that hit never came.
“P-princess? Hey don’t be scared…”
his picked you up and sat down, cuddling you. “Shhh…it’s ok, I’m not going to hurt you, sorry for throwing and yelling at you…”
He feels bad, gojo feels bad. He wanted you to be happy, to love him but now he made you scared.
You tremble in his arms as you cry onto him, arms around his neck to hug back.
Gojo rubs circles on your back while whispering praises and reassuring words at you.
“Shhhh…I’m sorry I love you so much y/n….”
You hug him tighter, it’s really comforting. It shouldn’t be but it is..
“I won’t hurt you, dad loves you….”
You nod as you continue to hug him and cry, your tears were slowing down.
“Shhh, dad love you, dad will protect you and dad will keep you safe forever….even if you don’t want him to…”

I'm gonna write headcanon pasts for the One Piece admirals! They're just so damn interesting and I love their mobster/rebel/yakuza theme! Kinda reminds me of the games lol.

BEWARE OF ANGST!: MENTIONS OF CHILD ABUSE, VIOLENT CRIME, UNDERAGE DRINKING, AND SELF-HARM
So, I looked at the childhood images of Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru and made what I could make out of what I can see in the images. No kid photos of Fujitora and Greenbull yet, do I used canon events as refs.
Tumblr media
Akainu (Sakazuki) 🐶:
He had a turbulent childhood in a crime-riddled place. His father was a crime boss who abused him for seeing Marines as his hero, because his dad knew more that the Marines and WG were corrupt and shit. After all, the dad was a criminal, while Akainu genuinely wanted to serve in the marines and stand for his "justice".
A Marine he idolized gave him the tattered cap shortly before he killed his father because that Marine brainwashed and gaslit him into believing in his twisted justice during his stay in that area while searching for pirates. Akainu saw the battle and was instantly INSPIRED. He would become like his hero and blow up his shithole hometown.
Akainu has seen crimes, vices, violence, and all sorts of moral decadence in his place, so it's not surprising his views on justice got fucked up. He learned street smarts and how to fight due to his environment. He met Aokiji after killing his dad (it's anime logic where the young kid can kill an adult with fighting experience) and both had a rocky, love-hate (yes, I used to ship these two) relationship while wandering and doing odd jobs before being taken in by the Marines.
Since both grew up in turbulent, violent environments, they had the physical and mental strength (and fuckedup-ness) to fight in the Marines, and it'd be a waste to just let them toil while doing household chores, right?
So, they were taken in and trained. All the time, even until they were admirals, Akainu and Aokiji were arguing, always. Their opposing views, personalities, and justices didn't help either. Sometimes, they'd even be petty, like, Aokiji just moves Akainu's bonsai vase a little and Akainu is in a real foul mood and then shit hits the fan. It's very hilarious to see, especially when they were kids, they always had to be disciplined because they were always fighting 😂.
Akainu always had to deal with Aokiji's apathy and laziness. Akainu was the kid always angry and serious, so he was a rather amazing student - always "upright" in the Marines' eyes. Aokiji was the lazy but smart one, as in, super lazy. During teamwork training, Aokiji was kind of a slacker at first and Akainu would fight him always. It kinda died down over time as they became adults, but Akainu is still pissed about it, as always 😂.
Soon, Akainu burned down his pirate and criminal infested hometown. Fuck the innocents and everything. There are criminals there and he will send them to hell. And he succeeded.
Akainu also had a rather romanticized view of the Marines as a child due to his circumstances. Anything about spreading justice, order, and punishing criminals, and he'll be pumped up. This is the shit for him, and he's quick to plan and act when it comes to these. Despite his angry, wild nature, ever since he was young, he was ever so PASSIONATE about being a ROUGH, STRONG Marine man. Hence, the rose of the fuckin' lady killer sheesh 🥵. Something here's burning hot and it's not just the lava!
Yah, yah, I just spent over half the year creating yakuza/boryokudan OCs and well, I guess the dashing underworld outlaw prince swept me off my feet 🤩🤩🤩...
Aokiji (Kuzan) 🐦: Aokiji had deadbeat parents who always let him get beat up. He lived in the same area as Akainu. Due to his family being deadbeat, he picked up vices and began to drink at an early age. He decided to wander away, doing odd jobs. Despite his apathy towards most of the world and anger towards criminals, helping people with chores kind of softened his heart. This has helped him develop a sense of compassion, unlike Akainu, who did these chores as a way to work towards being accepted by the Marines. Sometimes, Aokiji would be dog tired and sleep a lot in his free time.
Soon, he met Akainu and they accompanied each other. Being alone was boring, and besides, they were kids. They'd argue a lot, even while working, AND especially when sharing a sleeping space. Oh boy, they'd get violent when one starts pressing agains the other.
And that's the definition of true love according to what my shipper brain said
The Marines soon took them in and they began to train. Aokiji was rather apathetic to this at first, but then actually began to warm up a bit to his job. Sometimes, it was even entertaining, especially arguing with Akainu or simply bullshitting his fiery frienemy. But, as Aokiji became an adult, cracks began to show.
Aokiji began to see all the misery and corruption. The causes of poverty and crime, a lot caused by the WG. He saw innocent people hurt due to the WG. Soon, he fell back to his apathetic ways. But, despite being so jaded and weary, he still had that kind-hearted side for those with benevolent intentions, regardless of them being pirates or otherwise. Soon, he wanted to be free to do this and resign from the Marines. Deep down, he had a heart like the snow, cold, and yet beautiful.
Dagnabbit, I'm crying why the fuck do I do this to myself 😭😭😭?
Kizaru (Borsalino) 🙈: Kizaru's family was the type that placed all their hopes on him to achieve their broken dreams for them, so they encouraged him to learn and study. He was rather pressured sometimes, but he did truly enjoy his studies and reading. He'd happily skip to the library sometimes and told them his stories. A light to their world, if I must say. Aaaand the feels are back 🥲.
Kizaru then decided to join the Marines, a decision his parents supported, seeing he could finally give them an ego boost, like "HOLY SHIT MY SON IS A MARINE, NOW, CLAP, GUYS". Not really his dream or what he wanted, but he just went with the flow. He was an easygoing, cool, chill dude anyway.
Soon, he met Akainu and Aokiji in training. He ALWAYS had to be there to calm these two down if they started arguing. One mean look from Akainu to Aokiji or vice versa, "woah there, now stop my dudes" Kizaru was the pacifier between them. He was also the quiet, cool, but very smart kid who always was in the topnotchers. However, he was the type to suck up to the government's ideals and decisions of the majority of the top brass and whatever view a certain faction of theirs chooses as right. He was like a ship bobbing on the waves without someone to steer it.
Soon, he got to meet Vegapunk due to his knowledge on some certain machines thanks to his childhood of reading. He would keep a VERY CLOSE EYE ON THE SCIENTIST. That's what he was tasked to do. He had no problem with that anyway. Then, he met Sentomaru, Kuma, and Bonney, and maybe, just maybe, his nonchalant, neutral personality slipped away, having seen the innocence of a kid who viewed him as an uncle and the sweetness of a father and his daughter. He found himself having fun for the first time, but maybe, he just didn't know it. But the memory stuck.
To thisbday, Kizaru is still nonchalant as ever, but maybe, I hope, something might happen in Egghead arc now with him. Could be good development for someone so dull, yet so bright.
Dammit. Them 2D cartoon seamen making me cry.
Fujitora (Issho) 🐯: Oh God, this is a dark one. Fujitora was a very unfortunate lad. He had an, abusive, overpopulated family who hated him and beat him to near death. They saw he was durable when he fought back and decided to sell him to the Marines. It wasn't fair. But the world's not fair. Always, Fujitora saw poverty and very VILE bastards in his place. It was not surprising to him. But, his hell was just going to begin.
Fujitora had a strong moral compass (besides his gambling) and trained hard to spread justice in the Marines. But, as his rank got higher, the more horrible things he saw in the WG. Corruption, slavery, hatred, and all things unpleasant. Ugh, he wanted to leave. Why? Justice is for everyone, right? So, why can't he bring it to those above him, who abuse their power? That's right, it was the world being unfair.
All the shit he has witnessed made him sick to the stomach. Are these the people he was working with and working for? Yuck. He decided to resign last minute before a promotion.
But, before he left, Fujitora reflected on his life before being sold to the Marines and after being sold to the Marines. Just the same. It was just the same back there. It was just unfair, so unfair. Wherever he went, there were always bad people oppressing the lass fortunate like he once was. Fujitora was unable to take the gravity in that moment and cut his eyes. He decided to cancel his resignation and return to the Marines. That way, at least, he can rise up to a position where he can stand for fairness. But if any sign of humanity comes before him, Fujitora will be unable to see it clearly again, despite his kind heart. He may feel it, but never see it, so he can only partially feel it. A prize to pay for justice.
This one was sad. And when kindness did come to his heart genuinely in the form of Luffy, he couldn't see those kind eyes 😭.
Ryokugyu (Aramaki) 🐂: This dude seems to have sucked according to the fandom, but screw that.
So, since he's quite the simp for the WG, Aramakiwas bought as a baby by the Marines, so all he knew was the WG's ideals.
Though unruly and wild, he was valued because he was loyal, even when he did things outside anything approved, like not asking permission to deal with certain peeps. He was also very destructive as a child, so he needed lots of discipline, too. In fact, this wild boy has been chided more than anyone could count they stopped scolding him altogether 😂!

Helluva Boss Rant “My Problem With Stella Defenders
i’m just gonna start off by saying this, i know this topic is very controversial, and we haven’t seen enough stella, but i really want to make a post about this because it honestly irritates me how many people still defend stella
THIS IS NOT TOWARDS people who like stella as a character, if you like her character but understand that her actions are wrong, that’s perfectly fine, this is for people who think that she’s still a victim or want to give her excuses for being abusive towards stolas
“she was acting that aggressive because she got cheated on and was hurt”
no, she acted that aggressive because A, she is always acting like that towards stolas, even as a child she’s always been violent, just look at her kid photo, she’s literally strangling dogs out of anger, and B, she’s not upset at the actual affair, she’s upset because he cheated on her with an imp, a lower class demon, cheating and affairs of any kind are common amongst royal families, literally look it up for yourself, through out history their have been many affairs between royals, also, it’s hell, that alone speaks for itself, also, she literally hired an assassin, A FUCKING ASSASSIN to kill him, not regardling how it’ll affect octavia, if she truely cared about their daughter, then why hire someone to kill her own dad, who she clearly loves, are people really forgetting that!!
plus it’s never, ever okay to physical assault or hurt your partner at all, yelling and screaming when you catch them cheating, and doing it away from the child, fine, throwing plants and doing all these crazy shit around their own child, fuck no, and i’ll get into that can of worms later on
“We haven’t seen how she acts like a mother yet towards octavia”
okay i will admit this right now, i am guilty of saying this, but i only say this in my post’s about stella because i don’t want to get bombarded by stella stan’s
i just wanna ask this question, would you let your partner, who is abusive towards you near your child?, no right?!, and why?!, because if their willing to abuse their partner, chances are, their willing to abuse the child, so why the fuck are people out here saying that stella deserves a chance to be shown as a mother!!, and from what we’ve seen so far, she’s a terrible abusive mother!!, don’t believe me?!, here i’ll show you why she’s so horrible, 1, she verbally abuses stolas and throws planets at him in front of octavia, which alone is so bad for her mentally, especially as a teenager,
2, she’s painting herself as the victim in the situation, manipulating octavia into believing she’s the hurt one, making stolas appear as the bad guy, 3, she merely sees octavia as an object, she refers to her as an “egg”, and only cares about her existence when she’s being affected, like during the phone call, you can hear her saying “are you turning her against me?!”, like that’s ALL you have to say?!!, not “oh sweetie are you okay?!”, or “how is she handling everything?!”, even the loo loo land episode!!, she didn’t stop to even look at octavia, so absorbed in her own abusive bullshit to give a damn about her own daughter!!
4, she doesn’t spend time with her at all, in her own instagram posts, she never posts anything about her mom, just her dad, and you can see how much she enjoys stolas company, yes sometimes she is embarrassed by him but overall she loves him, she was literally jumping and excited all day to spend time with him to watch a meteor shower, with her mom?, the only thing we got was that once a week octavia goes to stella’s, but that doesn’t mean they spend time together, octavia could literally just be locked up in her room listening to music while stella does whatever she does
“she doesn’t have enough development or character, she’s a 2d dimensional character”
this is hell, you don’t need a reason to be terrible, she’s literally a royalty in hell, why would you need a reason to be horrible?!, sometimes you don’t always need to have depth characters, and the same goes for moxxie’s dad, their in HELL!!
“why didn’t stolas leave before then?”
he was literally trapped!!, it was an arrange marriage against his will!!, what was he supposed to do, say i don’t and risk the wrath of his own dad, who had, and still does have alot of power over him, he was literally abused and forced into obligating his royal name no matter what, even it means forcing him to marry a woman he doesn’t love, and that is very hard and frightening to break out of, not to mention he was a teenager when he got married, not an adult, what do you expect a scared helpless teenager to do, that has no support system at all what so ever and no one to turn to
not to mention, at the time he had a lot of lose, octavia was young and could’ve easily lost custody, yes he’s a higher ranking above, but woman typically get more say in custody and win then men, that and she has a lot of royal friends who can put in a good word for her, and could even corrupt the judge system in her own favour, and honestly, he can try to argue that stella is abusive, but they would not care at all, it’s literally hell, so don’t expect much from that
stolas is at a stage right now where he feels as though he has nothing to lose, he’s been humiliated at ozzie’s, he’s realizing that blitz doesn’t love him, and was just using him, and that none of his royals shit matters anymore to him, and octavia is 17, nearly a legal adult, so it’s possible she can get a say on who she wants more custody or visitation on, that and stolas can be at bit of more advantage in this, their marriage was arranged due to having an heir to the goetia family, stella isn’t a goetia, stolas is, octavia was born to carry out he’s responsibilities, so he can argue that he’s the only fit one to teach and prepare her when the time comes for her to take over or whatever she is destined to role as in the royal family
and i’m just gonna flat out say this, if gender roles were revered, if stolas was a woman and stella was a guy, people would be alot less sympathetic towards stella, yes i know that’s such a bold statement, but i really do think that if roles were reversed, people would have a lot more different reaction to stella

I watched Orphan: First Kill and heres what i thought…
Spoilers under the cut 💕
Tumblr media
God can I just say i loved this movie? What a fucking prequel! I went to a theater in a whole other city to see it and let me say it did not disappoint. The movie sets itself in 2007 and while there are some drawbacks i have with this later on, for now i think the timeline tracks. Sarne institute gets a deeper look as they introduce a woman coming for art therapy. I personally think Sarne got a killer update in terms of looks (obviously in the first we only see them briefly) we see how the facility handles Leena (soon to be Esther) and her attempts to escape or be violent. We see that Leena hates being regarded as a child, in-fact so much so that she would kill over it. To be honest I love Leena’s blood lust and will to survive. One of my favorite kills of the movie was her bashing the perverted guard’s head into a splatter on the wall.
In terms of effects i think first kill out did itself. While it is obvious the actress aged its really easy (for me at least) to over look especially with the mastery of camera angles and special shoes aiding in keeping the illusion. I also have seen people explain it away as Leena is not as good at makeup in this earlier timeline as she was when she met the Colemans. Visually the kills are great and the effects on honestly everything look peachy! I can say with my whole chest that i don’t think there was a kill the whole movie i looked at and said “that looks lame” even if theres potentially CG (I’m not certain) its not outright noticeable at first watch for someone like me who is an avid disliker of CG fx in horror (practical all the way baby!)
I have rooted for Esther this entire time, from the first movie to the first kill. Something in me wants this woman to win. We see it more sort of in this one. It does numbers for her. We see that she really is just a grown woman almost trapped in this body and act. She wants a normal life, she wants romance, and possibly even a family of her own but it is thrown in her face repeatedly that this will never happen. Especially by the (in my opinion) true antagonists of the movie. While it is disturbing and unnerving to see what is visually a little girl chasing after older men again and again its also sort of tragic. Even with all shes done to preserve herself and her existence Leena will never be her own adult…
Which brings me to the antagonists of this movie. If Leena isn’t the bad guy then who the hell is?! The Albright family…well not the entire family. This psycho mother and her Norman Bates vibes of a son are the plot twist of the movie. See this mother knew Leena was a fraud the entire time, but how could she know that? Mother’s intuition? Does Leena look too different? No my friends its because her son killed the real Esther, and instead of turning him into the police, she helped him hide the body because she would rather lose one baby to murder than two to murder and prison. Meanwhile the only person in this family i feel bad for is the dad. He loved his daughter so much and you can tell. Getting to do art with Leena is big for him, and his bond with our Esther is what saves her skin when it comes to getting outed.
Throughout the movie we see Leena fall in love with the paternal figure and while we know its doomed from the start (not just because he sees her as his missing daughter but we know theres a whole other movie following this) Its sad to see how the mother teases Leena and holds it over her head that its her husband and that Leena will never have a husband. Its also sad that when the abuse from the mother and the son begin, the father is the only one she can run to and he goes out of town part way through the abuse.
The abuse makes the kills all the more satisfying, and I cant lie I got a little rowdy in my chair when it came to cheering Esther on. I have a few qualms with the movie, like why the mother had an iphone (im aware they released 2007 and this is a wealthy family but it felt a bit jarring for something set to 2007) i am mildly upset with how certain parts were touched once and never again. For instance Leena finds Esther’s diary and instead of using it to her advantage uses it to call the mother mommy instead.
However I loved the call backs we did get. We get Esther storing photos in her decaying bible from sarne, we get her false teeth being more of a prominent thing (it being what blows her cover to Allen at the end. They also get knocked out a few times. We hear her listening to a song that she sings in the next movie to John Coleman during the seduction scene, and we find out where Esther learned to paint with black light.
Over All
I adored this movie. It made me want more, I love Leena and I love rooting for her. Im still a firm believer that horror movies can bring characters back from the dead any time they’d like, and i think it would be fun and interesting to see Esther’s story continue or see more of her origins and what landed her in sarne.
Either way this is a killer good watch and while not all too scary in my opinion. The kills and the character development is worth it alone

stranger things 4 is garbage, and here’s why: a not-mad, just-disappointed meta about theme
s4 was about making the theme of trauma in stranger things literal. this was a very smart move and it was being executed reasonably well for most of the season! unfortunately, it crashed and burned in the last act.
this is so fucking long, my apologies
trauma and trauma responses are consistently present throughout the season’s major beats. max was torn up about seeing her stepbrother die and her own ambivalent response in that moment and afterward. el is bullied mercilessly until she lashes out violently and it resurfaces her suppressed memory of a massacre she feels responsible for. she previously lost her powers but suddenly her abusive dad is back and offering to torture her again to get them back. hopper’s using his siberian vacation to spiral about how he curses the people he loves. joyce is still hyper-vigilant and on edge from everything that had happened to will, seeing bob die, seeing hopper die; she packed up and ran away from hawkins! i could see an interpretation of will’s (incredibly scant, yet again!!) arc as self-flagellation for the crime of being gay and in love with mike, which is to say trauma from being closeted in addition to all his upside down trauma.
and of course, vecna’s whole deal is that he tortures you with the worst things you’ve ever experienced until you die so horribly it traumatizes other people.
like max, eddie sees someone die horribly in front of him and he’s wracked with guilt about how he reacted in the moment. jason and the jocks were pissed and completely in denial that chrissy could have ever been with eddie willingly, but it wasn’t until jason saw patrick die the same way that he’s actively looking to kill eddie and whipping up violence against anyone connected with him. this could even be tied back to billy, since people want to ride that guy’s dick so bad. billy’s traumatized by the loss of his mother, his dad is abusive to him, and he sees and experiences horrible things while possessed by the mindflayer, who we now learn is an extension? symbiote? flunky? of vecna.
this theme of trauma is so clearly and competently developed that it really puzzles me how the duffers ended up ~resolving it. what are they saying about trauma?
let me start by saying that i expected something about trauma perpetuating itself, abuse victims becoming abusers when they don’t work through their trauma. again, going back to billy, this reveal of vecna reinforces that his abusive behavior might be explained by his unresolved trauma, but it doesn’t excuse it. instead of him getting half-assed redemption from the one time he wouldn’t stand back while a kid was killed in front of him, the parallels written between henry and el would reinforce that billy was still responsible for his visiting his own pain on other people instead of confronting nor dealing with his trauma. (max even offered him help, and he rejected it! but that’s a different rant) this is similar to what i’ve seen other people say about how they  interpreted the mechanics of vecna’s curse. when max is playing bait but vecna isn’t taking it, it seems like it SHOULD be because she’s finally expressed her feelings to billy at his graveside and told her friends why she’s isolating herself. vecna literally traps his victims in their own heads with the worst secrets they haven’t told anybody else (chrissy’s abusive mother and eating disorder, fred’s hit and run, patrick’s...something or other), but now max’s trauma is exposed. i think it does make sense that vecna could still be goaded into attacking her using the exposed trauma the way he ends up doing: impersonating lucas to tell max that her friends don’t really accept her and secretly think she deserves to die like she had secretly believed about billy. but the huge hurdle of admitting that something is wrong and asking for help seems like it should weaken vecna’s power.
i wonder if this was how the curse is supposed to work. the school counselor practically says verbatim that there are people who will help if Max asks, that saying what is wrong will help her come to terms with her trauma! even the plan of hiding from vecna in good memories seems like a plausible visualization of the concept.
the problem is that vecna himself upends this theory of trauma.
again, what I expected was that when the party learned that the victor creel murders happened so long ago and with such a long gap between killings was that the son somehow acquired the power of whatever had killed his family and was inflicting it on other kids like it had been inflicted on him first. this could have been a strong parallel with eleven. what if the things that vecna says he learned lurked behind his parents’ front of normalcy was not war trauma and ...uh, something?? what do moms do? Something! anyway - what if the dark secret was something that actually involved henry? just for instance, what if henry was abusing his little sister and his parents were ignoring/covering it up? or henry himself was being abused and didn’t have anyone to turn to for help? or if they came to hawkins because another child died in their previous home, whether from neglect or some mistreatment either from henry or his parents?  yada yada yada, and then henry gets whisked away by papa.
papa is not interested in curing trauma. whether or not henry killed his family (i think it would be most interesting if this was left ambiguous, or if it is clear he did it, ambiguous if he did it involuntarily), papa is convinced he did. and by some weird combination of 1980s drug experiments and living on a hellmouth, henry does gain (regain?) that power. but now he’s internalized the idea that he was at fault for what happened to his family. maybe he’s convinced himself that he did it on purpose because his parents deserved it for what they did to him/allowed him to do to other people. that’s why all his victims see visions of the clock from his house and max and nancy end up in his house - it’s why vecna still lives in the upside down version of his house. he’s literally stuck there because that’s the site of his trauma! but he’s convinced himself of papa’s narrative that it isn’t where he was traumatized, it’s where he gained POWER. papa has really made an impression on henry, but henry’s rationalizations have made him a megalomaniac, and there’s only room for one megalomaniac in papa’s underground child farm. the whole thing with papa trying to neuter henry, making him actively participate in the abuse of other kids, and then henry manipulating el into releasing him/feeling responsible for things henry did still works as a way of showing how henry becoming the same kind of abuser as papa because he never dealt with the trauma papa inflicted on him. (wish that it was more obvious that she only helped him because of his manipulation, not because she’s just a born-good person like he’s a born-bad person, since that would preserve the arc of s1 and mike’s value as the “heart” of the party better plus serve the s4 theme better, by it’s fine)
at the end, when el tells henry he can still stop hurting people, he can still be saved even after everything, that’s the offer of help that max kept getting from her friends and the counselor and finally accepted that she was worthy of receiving. that should be the cap on this season! with the support of her friends, el (sort of) worked through her trauma from papa enough to see him as a monster who hurt her instead of a benevolent jailer, and now she is doing her best to offer friendship to henry to work through his. (oops, the max/billy thing IS this rant after all!) s4 should have ended on this poignant offer of healing and the tragedy of henry rejecting it.
but that’s not the way it actually goes.
we do get the classic downbeat, empire strikes back ending for the season, which i respect.
(side salad: i do think they should have gone whole hog with tragic death and killed steve as they seemingly were winding up to do. doesn’t that make sense, narratively? he’s the most well-adjusted member of the party! head empty, no dark secrets, all his worst behavior has been made public and atoned for! he’s been consistently supportive and protective from the end of s1 even when tommy and billy were goading him into returning to his old ways. he’s also fully integrated into the dynamics of both the older and younger halves of the party. if vecna was going to target any single person as the key to breaking the party’s spirit, wouldn’t it be steve? his death would cut robin out almost immediately; nancy would feel even more guilty for all her wavering over wanting to get back together with him after watching him die and feeling responsible for getting him into it like she did unwittingly to barb; dustin would be devastated his big brother is dead and they hadn’t been as close recently; eddie would feel like it should have been him for the crime of running away at first [unlike steve when he first encountered the upside down!!]; el would feel guilty for not being there for him as well as for max; mike would lash out from being defensive that it isn’t her fault; lucas and later max would feel survivor’s guilt for being glad it wasn’t max; and will and jonathan would keep drifting away and feeling like they aren’t allowed to try to hold on tighter since their trauma is supposedly over. joe could come back for the final season as an avatar of vecna to torture them all until they finally come back together as a party and remember that steve wasn’t like that AT ALL. but i digress)
anyway, the season ends on the downbeat of hawkins literally cracked open, the upside down infecting what’s left, vecna undefeated, and henry’s continued cruelty of insisting that el is at fault for making him into vecna and giving him the power of the upside down. that ending is completely in line with the show’s overall arc and the way i personally think that the theme of trauma should have gone. if i was writing stranger things, nearly all the major beats could stay exactly the same.
the one beat that i would absolutely change is that vecna isn’t actually traumatized according to the way the season is written. his motives are totally divorced from the backstory we see in el’s flashbacks of the lab. el tells henry that papa is dead because she assumes he’s acting out of unresolved trauma, and vecna specifically refutes this interpretation! he’s sort of indifferent to papa’s actions except for the fact that he prevented henry from doing whatever he wants. he resents papa’s power, not papa himself. he’s much more resentful of eleven for not going along with him or believing henry’s interpretation of his  actions - that is, he’s pissed because the victim of his abuse is fighting back. vecna’s motive is that he’s a born monster who on purpose killed his family when he was like twelve because...they weren’t actually perfect? thank god this takes place before the invention of instagram. what horrible crime of pretend normalcy did his ten-year-old sister commit? irrelevant, I guess. henry is sensitive AND he likes spiders! classic supervillain shit there. he kills traumatized teenagers in particular because...well, he’s a supervillain. doesn’t like seem like something a supervillain would do?
unfortunately, this casts papa’s actions as reasonable and even noble because henry (since apparently he was born evil and with superpowers) presumably WOULD have been killing people the whole time without papa’s intervention. this makes el’s repudiation of papa as a monster narratively wobbly, because he did do that good thing, and he did force her powers to manifest again, and she absolutely needs them now. the bizarre way his death scene plays out like we’re supposed to care a horrible man dies seems to show the writers’ ambivalence about papa’s ultimate morality. plus, if henry’s actions don’t stem from trauma, then vecna isn’t an embodiment of repressed trauma. his curse uses a victim’s trauma against them, but only because vecna himself is plain evil. he killed his family and framed his father because he hated them, period. the way he reveals this to nancy reinforces this, since she is looking for what happened to the creels in the hope that it will help them with the riddle of how to defeat vecna and the answer is he just killed them and he liked it (and spiders!) and knowing that is totally useless to nancy. it’s a slap in the face that hits at nancy’s insecurrities of being as silly and useless as some people think she is and her actions endangering other people. every reveal of information about vecna makes him less and less relevent to the theme of trauma that is otherwise ever-present in s4. vecna killed chrissy, fred, and patrick and tries to kill max because he thinks he should act like a spider (he super loves those leggy boys!!) and kill the most vulnerable prey, but he only does that because he needs to open gates to go back to the real world to...kill everyone. because of...order? something like that. insert supervillain monologue here.
one of the reasons s1 of stranger things worked so well was that there were three different groups of people working with three different understandings of what was going on, and winning the final battle depended on those groups communicating with each other and working together. so successful in fact that this is the structure of every season of the show! each fragment of the party is in the dark, unable or unwilling to ask for help from the others, struggling in vain until they all come together and and coordinate their individual efforts to support each other. s4 should have been the season where the external threat also expressed an internal threat to this power, setting up s5 for a final triumph of the power of friendship. and i think the duffers intended to do that. vecna being the ultimate big bad and feeding all the while off the trauma he had inflicted via intermediaries in the previous seasons, while himself being the product of the same lab as eleven, that all works! and maybe they’re going to roll back on vecna’s supervillain monologues in s5 by saying he was lying in s4 and make him more plausible as a person, but that would be incredibly cheap and also prevent the constant escalation of threat in terms of literal size that television writers seem to think viewers require.
for my money, the externalization of the threat to party unity as just one extra-evil guy (who’s always been evil and in fact made the upside down evil with how evil he naturally was!) completely undercuts the trauma theme i think the duffers were going for. as it is, i think the most probable version of s5 doesn’t involve catharsis and healing for most characters, let alone DEPEND on it. maybe we finally get a reveal of what’s really going on to the wheeler parents, the sinclairs, and dustin’s mom and the implication of parental support before the final battle? i think will will get to come out at last but i doubt that they’re going in a healing in queer solidarity direction considering that he and robin never interact!!
the inevitable working-separtely-before-coming-together-to-defeat-the-big-bad shape of s5 could really sing if it was going to resolve the trauma arcs that s4 set out. if s4 had fulfilled its promise the season of trauma and trauma responses, s5 would be about breaking the cycle and healing. the big bad is the embodiment of the dark thoughts and secrets that make you feel alone and desperate and like you deserve to be punished by some evil guy with no nose!! the party members have be there for each other emotionally as well as literally to win the fight. i think we can see the seeds of this already planted in the imperfect end of s4. el’s power is HERS, and she doesn’t owe papa or henry anything or have responsiblity for anything they did. the possibility of healing max would never have occurred to either of them, but el has benefitted from her friends and an actually good dad, and that environment has opened up a new horizon of abilities she never knew she had. dustin takes eddie’s uncle’s grief seriously, but dustin’s grief should be recognized by the party instead of some near-rando - nancy’s grief over barb and joyce’s over bob, too!
and THAT’s the narrative circumstance in which will being held in the closet against our will for three seasons is narratively justified as ongoing truama reaction, but now will comes out because he’s brave and risks himself, and the acceptance and love he gets in return for his vulnerability CASTS PROTECTION over the whole party, bringing the whole fucking thing full circle ‼️‼️‼️
and another thing! fred could have been used way more effectively to really put the screw to nancy. instead of bizarrely hitting on her, fred should have been clearly looking for help, maybe even trying to confess what he did to nancy in some sideways manner like aggressively pushing for an investigation of the crash he caused, but nancy bushes him off either because she assumes he is weirdly hitting on her or because she’s focused on her own ambitions or because she’s distracted by her drama with jonathan, and THEN she realizes once he’s died that she COULD HAVE SAVED HIM if she had just paid attention to other people’s shit!! and that girl’s not telling anyone about her failings EVER and she’s hypercompetent with all her guns so nobody suspects, and then surprise! she’s a super juicy target for vecna. of fucking course nancy isn’t going to tell anybody that either, maybe we don’t see it either except for clues like a bloody nose (could have been from running into something) and taking advil (she hit her head after all) and then the truth comes out at the worst moment!! hire me netflix

SUPERNATURAL REWATCH, 1x14: "Nightmare"
-Finally a normal "Previously on..."
-Since I know it's Max, how did he manage to do all that without being in the garage?
-Dean, I get your skeptisim, but don't dismiss this.
-Them dressing as priests to get into the house, and not long after the episode "Faith" is interesting to me.
-What the hell is that thing Dean has?
-This is the first time Sam has had a vision when awake, right?
-Damn that's a lot more brutal of a death than the first guy.
-Dean: "It doesn't freak me out." LIAR!!!!
-The CGI on the knife is a bit rough.
-Dean, I get where you're coming from, but you just can't kill him.
-My God, I forgot that his dad and uncle were still abusing him.
-The first hint that Sam & Dean weren't the only ones to lose their mom by fire.
-Shit, that was violent. Forgot they showed how Max killed Dean in the vision.
-Oh shit, Sam moved the dresser.
-What was that acting choice Jared?
-I mean, she's guilty of never helping Max, but I still feel bad for her.
-The fact that Sam can acknowledge that while John's not gonna win father of the year, they at least had a slightly better upbringing than Max.
-I mean, Dean is right that Sam having him does make his situation better.
-Of course, Dean makes a joke about this to hide that he's actually worried.

I'm so fucking jealous of my sister.
She is getting way more live and patience than I ever did growing up, and she acts like a brat.
Yes, she is hurting, but I did and do too ! And thankfully, she didn't go through at least one of the kind of violence I went through !
We both were bullied and had health issues. We both have a shitty (albeit different) dad. We both had no friends.
And we both wanted to quit school because it was unbearable.
And while she has our mom support and affection, at her age, I was sent to a psychiatric hospital because I tried to kill myself. When I was puking my guts out because of anxiety, I wasn't believed and got sent to the very same place that made me feel like this and got told to suck it up.
When she denounced her father's violent behavior, she didn't try to force her to go for long. When I did, she went as far as dragging me by my hair to send me to the guy who psychologically, physically, and sexually abused me. It only stopped because he didn't want to see a mentally ill kid. Not because she helped.
If I threw a tantrum, I was locked in a garage, screamed at, beaten with different types of objects, sometimes being left with bruises, choked against a wall or all of the above.
If she throws a tantrum, nothing really happens until she threatens her parents.
Honestly, typing this, I think I've realized something that my mother denies:
My sister was a planned pregnancy, my mom had to go through multiple miscarriages to have her.
I wasn't. I was a fail of 2 methods of contraception. And while my mother says that she realized she wanted me and that if she didn't, she would have just aborted me, the way she acts and talks to and about me makes me question if the real reason she didn't get an abortion was because of the stigma around it at the time.
I have multiple theories as to why she acts so differently with me :
As I said, she didn't really want me and just tolerated/silently resented me.
She sees my father in me.
I just wasn't worth the effort in her eyes.
She resents all the sacrifices she had to make to raise me.
Given what I know about him and what I experienced because of my father, I wouldn't at all be surprised if my creation happened because he raped her. I'm very serious here.
All in all, I think she likes me more now that I am an adult because I bring more money to the household with my disability benefits, am the only one who my sister sort of listens to, so I can act like a second parent, and now she can vent at me even more about her problems.
I was raised to believe that you have to excel at everything and be on your best behavior to deserve empathy, love, food, comfort, gifts, family, and respect. It was taken away as soon as I was seen as not deserving of it.
So yeah, I guess I just didn't deserve it and deserved to be treated like this.
At least I'm glad my sister doesn't have to go through some things as bad as me. But still, it hurts.

Chapter 2: The Secrets and Shadows from Under The Underground
It wasn’t too long before somebody found Asriel and rushed him to The Dreemurr Castle with urgency. When Chara and her other family members saw the condition Asriel was in, Chara was by far the most enraged. Asriel was her best friend and brother. She was NOT going to let this stand! In all honesty, it was a damn miracle that Asriel had no long-lasting injuries or effects from the beatdown. Still, Asriel looked terrible, like he’d been in a vicious car accident. His face and left cheek were all swollen, he was heavily bruised, had a black eye, and cuts all around his face! Chara was livid. “That PEST!” Chara growled under her breath before she walked out of Asriel’s room.
Chara walked down the colourless and dim hallway, all while Frisk, the younger adopted sister, tried to catch up to her. Chara would then put her hand directly in front of Frisk's face as she approached her. It was almost like she didn’t want to hear what Frisk had to say. “Leave it, Frisk. You’re not stopping me.” Chara muttered. “No, I’m sorry, Chara, but I can't do that. I’ve seen this all before.” Frisk uttered as she grabbed Chara’s left arm.  “All it takes is one little thing to send you into a violent rage!” Frisk retorted back. Chara turned to face Frisk. “Well, he’s certainly earned it this time!” Chara retorted back herself as she pulled her arm out of Frisk’s grasp. “Chara, there are better ways than violence,” Frisk argued back, in a much softer tone. “What? Just like how Nadine says there are better ways to deal with my problems than booze?” Chara asked, in a rather sarcastic way. Frisk didn’t respond as her eyes dropped to the floor.
“Sometimes fighting back is the only way. I’m not surprised you don’t get it. You’ve never been through what I have…” Chara muttered back. “But Chara, you might kill him!” Frisk yelled back in distress. “Then he should have left when I gave him the opportunity to leave…” Chara muttered before she sighed. “Look at Asriel, Frisk. He did that, and for what?!” Chara asked. “This guy has probably never even been in a real fight before. I mean, does he really look like a fighter to you?” Chara asked in a more serious tone. No, he’s just a scared little kid acting like a big man. He’s not tough. Hell, he probably ambushed Asriel when he wasn’t looking. Asriel would’ve wiped the floor with him if he REALLY wanted to. The only thing holding him back was his compassion.” Chara explained. “That guy is going to pay for what he’s done. If I kill him, I kill him. If he survives, he better leave and never comes back, or I’ll be back, and I’ll finish the job.” Chara explained further. “You know for a damn fact nobody will like this. Let Dad deal with him.” Frisk uttered back. “No, this is my responsibility, and this is my mission. Nobody else’s… Asriel brought me into this family when he didn’t have to. He could’ve and really should’ve eaten me or just left me for dead. Yet, he didn’t, nor did Asgore and Toriel. I got the family I never knew I wanted. I mean, I was abused by a drunken idiot who dared try to get me to call him dad. The dude wasn’t even my biological dad either. The dude was an utter coward, whereas I’m not. That’s why my disdain for evil people like that exists. Evil humans, rotten evil people like that were all I knew. Not now, obviously, because I have you, but…” Chara paused, as a tear fell out of her eye. “Chara?” Frisk mumbled. Chara got onto a knee and put both hands on Frisk’s shoulders before she gave Frisk a big hug. Chara then rose back up onto her feet and walked out of the castle.
So, why this conflict? Shouldn’t Frisk also want revenge for her brother? Well, that’s the thing, Frisk was a pacifist. She didn’t necessarily believe in violence or rather any form of fighting. She would rather talk her way out of things. Chara on the other hand, was BUILT on violence and disharmony, due to a certain someone’s actions… Chara (as she just explained) had a rather tragic childhood before she became a part of The Dreemurr Family and even then, she wasn’t really magically healed from her trauma. It still stuck with her, even after all these years later…
Chara began to walk throughout Mt Ebott, as she tried to look for Arthur, but first, she had to make a stop somewhere. Chara would end up arriving at Undyne’s NEW and exciting training grounds where Undyne was “training the next generation of Royal Guards!” “Ah, Princess Chara! What brings YOU here today?” Undyne greeted Chara as she got on one knee and bowed her head. “Get up Undyne, why do I have to keep telling you, you don’t have to bow down every time you see me.” Chara moaned. “My apologies, Your Highness. It’s just politeness and code to the royal family.” Undyne replied. “Well, it ain’t my code, so stop. Anyway, I’m here to see one of your students, Dora-Winifred Read.” Chara explained. “Get her for me, would you?” Chara ordered. “Undyne complied, “Yes, you’re Highness,” replied Undyne, before she raced off to go and get DW.
Around 5 minutes later, Undyne returned along with DW. DW gasped. It seemed she didn't actually expect Chara to be there. “Gosh dang it, I thought it was a trick!” DW bellowed before she put her head in her hands while Chara and Undyne laughed. “Unbelively DW, this ain’t the first time somebody’s said that when greeting me,” Chara replied. “Well, that’s reassuring… So, uh…" Why did you wanna see me?” DW asked. Chara would then get on one knee. “To say thank you,” Chara uttered. “Thank you for allowing Nadine to help me. I know it sounds cheesy and yes, it very much is and I know that we probably haven't had the same connection as she had with you, but I appreciate you giving me an extra hand to hold on to during my times in need. Naddie ain’t perfect. She can be annoying and persistent, but I can see that she wants to help me, and that help wouldn’t have come if it wasn’t for you. So, thank you.” Chara explained. DW chuckled. “It was more than just me, you know? Asriel and JacobLOL were in on the talk, too. Plus, I got my own benefits out of it.” DW replied, with her iconic smug grin.
“You weren’t the only one,” Chara replied back. “I feel like with you here, I should probably say this. My parents have officially filed for the adoption papers for Nadine. She’s now going to be an official member of our family!” Chara announced. “Adoption? What’s that mean?” DW asked. Suddenly, glitter and pixie dust would surround Chara, DW, and Undyne before Nadine appeared in a bright light as she floated above them. “Think of adoption as like, someone making somebody a part of their family. Choosing to look after them and such.” Nadine explained. “Well, there’s a bit more that goes into it than just that, but yes, that is a rather basic understanding of it,” Chara replied. “Wait, if Nadine’s going to be in your family… Does that make her a princess?” DW asked. Chara nodded, and DW gasped as her eyes lit up, and a smile spread across her face. DW screamed with excitement as Nadine floated down and gave DW a big hug. “MY SISTER’S OFFICIALLY A PRINCESS!!” DW screamed as she jumped up and down. DW looked back at Undyne, who had a smug grin and a raised eyebrow on her face. “Of course!” DW gasped as if she had just remembered something. DW got on one knee and bowed her head. “Congratulations, Your Highness,” DW uttered. Nadine smiled. “Thanks, DW,” Nadine replied. “I guess I’ll let you both celebrate the occasion,” Chara uttered before she got up and was ready to leave. “You're not staying to celebrate too, your highness?” Undyne asked. “No, I have some business I need to take care of, unfortunately,” Chara replied before she left with a cold and expressionless face.
After a few hours of searching, Arthur was nowhere to be found. It didn’t make sense. She had searched everywhere! There was nowhere else to look, right? Then, something came back into Chara’s mind, The Ruins! Chara then made a mad dash to the entrance of Snowdin, opened the huge door, and ran inside. She ran through the narrow hallway and ran up the stars to go into Toriel’s old cottage. Chara then stopped in her tracks and slowly looked around the cottage. Nothing in the kitchen, nothing in the living room. Chara then looked outside a window, but again, nothing. Then Chara looked in the corridor, and she checked through each room to still find nothing. Then she checked in what would’ve been Frisk’s room if Frisk had stayed with Toriel in the beginning, and again nothing… Then suddenly, Chara was ambushed and attacked with a weapon! She collapsed to the ground and fell unconscious, not even getting as much as a glimpse of the attacker.
When Chara regained consciousness, she found herself tied up to a steel chair and under a bright light. As Chara got her bearings together and examined her surroundings, a shadow emerged from the darkness to reveal Arthur with a steel chair of his own. Chara’s eyes were now filled with rage and anger, as a drop of black ooze fell from her mouth, unknowingly to Arthur. Arthur sat directly in front of Chara, and both parties started into each other's souls. “You bastard!” Chara yelled as she struggled to free herself. Arthur didn’t move at all. “Release me at once, or I’ll tear apart your flesh!” Chara ordered with fire in her eyes. “Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t. You’re too much of a threat to be left running around without a collar.” Arthur replied. Chara growled before she once again struggled to try and get herself free, but couldn’t. “I will END YOU for what you did to Asriel!!” Chara screamed, all while Arthur frowned. “Hey, it wasn’t what I wanted. He swung first, and I had to protect myself and have a backup plan.” Arthur replied. “Then why ambush me?” Chara asked as she gritted her teeth. “Because, you’re quite the scary one, Princess Chara. You supposedly have a history of violence and a rumoured fascination with knives. I just had to be sorta careful when asking. Don’t worry, I’m sure there are no long-term injuries. At least, I hope so.” Arthur explained. Chara was now getting rather impatient. “Look, what do you want from me?!” Chara demanded. “It should be me asking that question, not you.” Arthur reminded Chara. “You were the one who wanted to try to find me, and here I am!” Arthur explained, as he raised his arms slightly and as he sounded almost like his old joyous self.
“Asriel’s potentially in a coma right now, or he’s unconscious. It’s honestly rather hard to tell at this moment.” Chara muttered. “He’ll be fine, I didn’t beat him to the brink of death… “Arthur replied, almost in his old, joyous way again, before slipping back into The Ruthless Heart persona almost instantly “You, on the other hand, have beaten people close to the brink of death. Not just humans, or others on the outside, but here within Mt Ebott, too. Why?” Arthur asked before he leaned forward. “Pfft, like I’m gonna explain anything to you,” Chara replied. “Alright then, don’t. That still won’t stop me from finding out what you’re hiding.” Arthur retorted. Chara scoffed, “What could you possibly want to know?” asked Chara “Well first, I’d love to know why this place has the reputation it does, I wanna know why you are the way you are, and I wanna know what The King is hiding from his people.” Arthur explained.
Chara began to laugh. It started out small but grew into something bigger and more chaotic and menacing. The black ooze was now pouring out of her mouth “You’ll never find those answers, Arthur! You’ll end up with a slit throat before you even get a sneak peek at what we have to hide!” Chara growled. Arthur put up a finger and pointed it at Chara. “Don’t tempt me to keep digging. You won’t like me with my back against the wall.” Arthur warned. Chara spat in Arthur’s face. “Or what? You can’t fight!” Chara yelled back. “I’m here to protect, not destroy!” Arthur exclaimed. Chara almost laughed at his absurdity. “Tell THAT to the goat you put unconscious!” Chara screamed back. Arthur placed his left arm on some form of desk and looked back at Chara. “You think I wanted to do that?” Arthur asked. “My target was you and only you. Heck, I don’t even consider your father a target, at least not yet…” Arthur muttered. “Yet, you’ve clearly got your eye on him, so that automatically makes him a target.” Chara grumbled back.
Arthur glanced back. “I doubt you’d even understand yourself. All you probably care about is giving others pain, but for what? What do you gain over these acts?” Arthur asked. Chara gave Arthur a stare that resembled death. Chara was now beginning to grow tired of these riddles and questions until an idea popped into her head. “One bite…” Chara muttered under her breath. “That’s all I really need…” Arthur didn’t hear what Chara said. “Huh?” he replied in utter confusion. Chara rolled her eyes with a smile before she chewed and ripped her way out of the ropes, spreading black ooze everywhere! Chara then stood up with a rather evil smile on her face. “Ohohohohohoho! You’re dead now, son.” Chara uttered as the evil smile spread across Chara’s face. Arthur was shocked by what had just happened! He then frantically searched for his crutch and found it, but so did Chara! Then the two had almost something of a tug of war over the crutch, which Chara would eventually win with her being the stronger of the two. Chara threw the crutch away before she picked up a hammer and began to stalk Arthur, like a predator stalking its prey. “Maybe next time, don’t indulge in too much chocolate cake, Arthur! Oh wait, there WON’T be a NEXT time!” Chara yelled, before she smashed Arthur into a bloody mess, swinging the hammer in his face over and over again, but just before she could deal with her final blow, Frisk ran in and grabbed Chara’s arm! “Stop!!” Frisk yelled. Chara and Frisk then got into rather an intense staredown that lasted for a few seconds. “Nadine, NOW!” Frisk yelled before Nadine jumped from above and put her arms around both Frisk and Chara, then Nadine used her magic to teleport herself, Frisk and Chara away from the scene. Leaving a bloody and battered Arthur.
A few minutes after this, Chara and Frisk were arguing inside the castle, which was quite intense… “WHAT WAS THAT?!” Frisk screamed as she shook Chara like a doll. “Why in god’s name are you so shocked?” Chara muttered. “Because we’re not trying to kill anybody this time around, okay?” Frisk yelled back. Chara then stared into Frisk’s eyes. “Frisk. We've done this so many times now, I’ve lost count.” Chara muttered back. Frisk glanced to the floor, then backed up. “Shut up!” Frisk muttered. “How about no?” suggested Chara, as a slight chuckle could be heard from Chara shortly after saying that sentence. “Everybody has their theories on me, but let’s not pretend it wasn’t you who drove me into madness once again. You may have shown me that not all humans are selfish and abusive sods, but you, too, are responsible for my now permanent dip in madness.” Chara reminded Frisk. “Not to mention, there was at least some form of receipt coming for that guy. He did go after my brother after all.” Chara muttered.
“Speaking of which, did he tell you anything?” Frisk asked, rather curious. “Arthur? No. It’s something I’ve heard all before. Heck, not just me, but you too…” Chara uttered back, as she tried her best to play it cool. “Hey, as long as he stops his little investigation and goes away, he’ll be fine. I won’t kill him. That was just to send a message. A REAL MESSAGE.” Chara replied. This didn’t please, Frisk. “So I got a little carried away. He’s alive, isn’t he?” Chara grumbled. “I guess so… This is just… It’s a lot happening in such a small amount of time.” Frisk replied. “Hey, you’re telling me. You know how weird it was to move to one day be with an abusive human, only to suddenly then be thrusted in with a family of goats?” Chara asked in a sarcastic manner. “I totally get the second part.” Frisk replied as she pointed at a picture of The Dreemurr Family. “See? We’re really not that different.” Chara uttered back with a smile. “I mean… I guess so, but no more violent acts, got it?” Frisk ordered. “Fine, okay. I guess I at least owe you that.” Chara replied, complying with Frisk’s request. “I’m serious, Chara! No more! This doesn’t change that I’m angry with you!” Frisk exclaimed back. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear you.” Chara replied, as her eyes darted in another direction. “Do you really, though?” Frisk asked. Chara yawned before she answered. “Yeah…” Chara muttered. Frisk sighed before she stared at the wooden floorboards. “I sure hope so.” Frisk thought to herself.
“I sure hope so too.” said a familiar voice inside Frisk’s head. “Huh?” Frisk looked around confused. “Nadine?” Frisk uttered. “Wh-where are you?” Frisk asked. “Well, I’m inside your head.” Frisk was surprised by this. “H-How?! You’re supposed to be helping Chara, not me!” Frisk exclaimed. “Because you and Chara share the same soul. That’s how she’s even alive today in the first place. It’s through that connection that allows me to speak to both of you like this.” Nadine explained. “Oh, and Frisk, don’t worry about me only being allowed to help Chara. My duties don’t have to be just for one person. I can help you too, if you so need it.” Nadine explained. “Wait, is it through that connection that allows me to actually see and talk to you?” Frisk asked. “That could be the case, but it could also be through belief, too. If you truly believe I’m there, then I’m there.” Nadine explained further. “Well, I think I will then. After all, you are a part of our family now. It’d feel foolish if that wasn’t the case. We just need to figure out how to get around this Arthur problem.” Frisk explained. “I think we might need someone who knows their ways with words to help us here.” Nadine suggested. Frisk smiled. “I think I might know somebody!” Frisk replied before she ran down the hallway.
The following day, Arthur was once again back in the warehouse. As he checked through his notes, he heard a knock on the shutters. He opened them to find Toriel Dreemurr standing at the entrance. “Mrs. Dreemurr.” Arthur uttered as he looked up at the much taller woman. “Hello Arthur.” Toriel replied. The staredown that followed was slightly intense. “What do you want exactly?” Arthur asked. “We need to talk.” Toriel replied before she entered the warehouse. “I assume this will be about Asriel?” Arthur asked as he sat back down on his chair next to his desk. “More than just that.” Toriel replied as she sat on another chair. “Well, before we begin, I’d like to give you something.” Arthur uttered as he went to grab something out of a drawer. It was a bottle full of medication. “It’s for Asriel. I wish him a speedy recovery.” Arthur explained before he gave Toriel the medicine. Toriel was a bit taken aback by this but accepted the medicine. Arthur sighed. “I didn’t want to do it, y’know? He backed me into a corner, threatened me, and tried to kill me! I had to defend myself.” Arthur explained. “Asriel would never-” Toriel yelled before she stopped and sighed as a reminder resurfaced in her mind. “I… I know exactly what you’re talking about. You’re talking about Flowey there.” Toriel explained. Arthur was puzzled by the new name. “Flowey?” Arthur uttered. “Even I’m not sure what he is. He’s either an alternate personality within my son or another being inside him.” Toriel uttered back. “So, it’s multiple personality disorder?” Arthur suggested. Toriel sighed. “I’d imagine so…” Toriel muttered back before she laughed. “Ahh, who am I kidding? You don’t want to hear some old lady ramble about the past.” Toriel uttered before a slight chuckle could be heard.
“Actually, that’s exactly what I want to hear you ramble about.” Arthur replied, which surprised Toriel. “You see, I’m here because of the rumours.” Arthur explained. “It’s led me to actually coming here, and it’s also led me to do some investigating on this place…” Arthur’s head tilted upwards to look at the ceiling. “I must say though… I find it rather impressive that you were able to build a civilization under this mountain. It must have taken a ton of work, surely.” Arthur suggested. “It was built by the monsters that existed generations before us, I wouldn’t happen to know what it was like.” Toriel explained. “Everybody’s a part of history, I suppose, and so are they.” Arthur replied. “I suppose so.” Toriel uttered before she changed the subject. “Now, about those rumours…" What have you heard?” Toriel asked. “It’s not what I’ve heard… It’s what I’ve read.” Arthur responded as he pointed towards Toriel. Toriel started to get nervous. “It’s pretty much about one person, too.” Arthur elaborated further as he stood up and began to circle around Toriel. Arthur stopped in place, right in front of Torel. “It’s about King Asgore. Your ex-husband, I presume?” Arthur asked as he glared into Toriel’s eyes. Toriel sighed. It was now beginning to become perfectly clear over what these certain “rumours” were. “I see.” Toriel whispered. “Master Arthur, it would appear you are beginning to piece information together that I wished to never speak of again. Please take a seat. This story is a long one.” Toriel uttered. Arthur complied, and Toriel began her story…
“It all started long ago, where Monsters and Humans were very much alike…” Toriel began to discuss her story with Asgore. From their days as children, to them eventually dating, their marriage and then up to Asriel’s birth. “He was quite small when he was actually born. Asgore could literally hold him in one hand! Although his hands are rather larger than the average man, I presume.” Toriel chuckled to herself. “It wasn’t until after a few years when Asriel found Chara.” Toriel continued. “She was frail, covered in dirt, and she had cuts and bruises all over her face and body. She was clearly not in the greatest position, almost as if someone had dumped her there and just wanted her to die of starvation.” Toriel explained. “Luckily for her though, my son took after his old lady, and he took her to me and Asgore.” Arthur raised an eyebrow at this new information, almost as if he was questioning Toriel’s choice of words. “Okay fine, I found them messing around. Our house wasn’t too far from the entrance of the mountain.” Toriel admitted. Arthur’s eyebrow lowered. “That being said, we did take her in, and she was one of our own. We loved her unconditionally. She loved us, and she still does. I think her life on the surface was pretty rough on her. I think that’s why she was able to adapt to us. She needed to be around some new scenery.” Toriel explained. “Asriel and Chara were basically inseparable. They loved each other’s company and they always did activities together. There would be no Chara if it wasn’t for Asriel, and there would be no Asriel if it weren’t for Chara. No matter how silly or ridiculous it got!” Toriel elaborated before she sighed and looked down to the floor. “It’s just a shame that while Asriel and Chara never had limits, silliness certainly does.” Toriel uttered before she started to cry.
“And boy, was that limit found one day… It was a day like no other. It was the day Chara’s silliness and carelessness found its true limit and brought Chara to her deathbed.” Arthur definitely took notice of that last sentence. He wasn’t expecting that turn of events. He was rather taken aback. “Surprised, aren’t you?” Toriel asked before she took a deep breath. “She got violently ill, and our doctors couldn’t do much to help her. She died shortly after…” Toriel uttered. “However, that wasn’t the only thing we lost… Asriel had travelled with Chara’s body the same day to do Chara’s final wish, which was for her to be laid in a bed of flowers on the surface. Then things turned for the worst, according to Asriel…” Toriel could only at that point, barely keep herself together. “Humans saw him, not as a peaceful creature just laying he friend to rest, but as an embodiment of evil and they…” Toriel took a deep breath, as a tear fell out of her eye. “They killed him…” Toriel tried her best to control her breathing, as it was getting heavier and heavier.
“That being said, I took it much better than Asgore ever did. He was driven to insanity over their passings. He declared war on the surface world, and after many months of fighting, Asgore’s army lost, and we were sealed away. However, that didn’t deter Asgore for his want for vengeance, but even I wasn’t sure how far he was willing to take it… Until, I was.” Toriel further explained. “I suppose then, that brings us to the topic you wish to know about. So, allow me to tell you what happened to those six kids.” Toriel began. Toriel then began to tell the true story of the six children and how Asgore found them and used their souls to power up a device that could destroy the barrier that sealed his kingdom away. “To put it bluntly, he killed those kids. He killed them because of the souls they possessed, which would have freed us from the barrier. When the first one had their souls fused within the machine and I was informed of Asgore’s actions, I immediately left and filed for a divorce. I wanted nothing to do with him anymore. He had become unrecognisable to me. He was no longer a loving father. What remained in him was a revenge and war obsessed psychopath.” Toriel explained. “After that, I tried to protect the other children who fell down Mt Ebott, but either my reincarnated son got them, or my ex-husband did.” Toriel explained. “Your son was reincarnated? Like, as in brought back to life?” Arthur asked. “Yes. In fact, that’s how Flowey was born. He emerged after Asriel’s death. As if Asriel’s soul had somehow been transported into a flower. Yet, despite them being one of the same and retaining all their memories, it was almost like they were two completely different people.” Toriel explained.
“I suppose in many ways, Flowey was much like Chara in terms of his personality. He was rather aggressive and violent, and at some point, he wanted the world to burn. I should know because I was there. In fact, there were two incidents where I saw it. Once near my home and once in Asgore’s home.” Toriel elaborated further.
Toriel sighed. “In many ways, I still haven’t forgiven Asgore. In some aspects, I no longer trust him. I was quite heartbroken seeing the depths he had sunk to, only to protect his ego and pride. I am unsure where I see the two of us today in terms of our relationship. I mean, I only began talking to him again because of Asriel. It’s not like I wanted to originally…” Toriel stopped talking at that point, as her emotions took over her. Arthur sighed and stood up. He looked at Toriel, not with an angry expression or a determined one. It was more gloomy, sad, and guilt-ridden. Arthur then walked over to a brick wall, then he began to shake rather violently. He managed to compose himself and turned to look back towards Toriel. “Does anybody else know this aside from Asgore and you?” Arthur asked. “Yes, Asriel, Chara and Frisk, but that’s it.” Toriel replied. “Does the kingdom know?” Arthur again asked. Toriel glanced at the floor and back at Arthur. “No.” answered Toriel. Arthur looked down before he walked over to the shutters. “Then maybe it’s time that somebody does…” Arthur muttered before he opened the shutters and left the warehouse.
To be continued…

i saw you asked what conservatives see in spn, I’m currently at mid s14 of rewatching spn with my right wing father and it’s is... absolutely a viewing experience. His favorite character is dean because my dad finds him personable and funny and he likes the older brother dynamic between him and Sam, and the relationship with John reminded him of his own dad. but my dad also REALLY loves castiel. Lazarus Rising is one of his favorite episodes just for Cas’ entrance, and he really really enjoyed like. girlboss s4-6 and 8 Cas killing people. and it’s incredibly strange because my dad is a Christian pastor, he does prison ministry for inmates every week. so I’d assumed he wouldn’t like cas as a character because his character development is about losing faith in God, but no my dad fucking loved it. he said it reminded him of his own abusive father and he became like... a castiel apologist. when we got to TMWWBK my dad kept saying that he “loves dean, but cas is right in this situation” until cas slaughtered the Republican campaign office lol. when the writers started nerfing Cas in season 9 my dad was annoyed and said “cas used to be so cool ://“, but then when we got to the episode Claire is introduced he changed his mind and said he liked that Cas who was formerly very violent and ‘would kill a child’ had calmed down and learned to love while the opposite happened to dean which cas was visibly saddened by. and at this point I wasn’t sure if my dad was reading it as queer because he also said shit like ‘cas is a christian character’ and then just didn’t elaborate. when we got to Amara he was fucking MAD that they’d given dean a love interest he said it wasn’t ‘satisfying to the plot, he doesn’t even know her”. when we got to Lily Sunder and the ‘I’ll cure you of your human weakness’ my dad was like ‘holy shit. is castiel (spanish slur for gay man).” and i just walked away lol cuz he knows that i am gay too. when I came back he said some shit to me like “listen i change my mind that word only applies to bad homosexuals” and then he was silent for a long time before saying “plus he isn’t even a man. see he was a woman before. also dean doesn’t feel like that so it’s just sad”. when we got to 12.22 and cas being stabbed by lucifer my dad like audibly fucking gasped and started yelling in spanish and did the old man thing where he leaned forward in his recliner. with the widower arc and dean being a little bitch to jack I forget which episode it was but my dad said “i think they are trying to show that he (dean) is acting like his father. because sometimes they compare characters, so I think dean is John and castiel is” and then he forgot Mary’s name for a moment so he said “castiel is his wife.” and then 5 seconds later he went “wait. wait” and paused the tv and just looked at me going “what the fuck. what the fuck. he’s Not Gay!!!! But he is the husband?’ absolutely insane viewing experience. when we got to Tombstone my dad told me “i hope he gets a new female body, because dean loves him but isn’t gay”. sorry that this was so long im unwell
BRO. BRO BRO BRO. EXCUSE ME? I LOVE THIS.

SPENCER'S POV
"Guys this is my boyfriend, Owen," y/n said to the team on a night out.
For the longest time she and I have been best friends, nothing more. I have been in love with her for a while now, but I have always been too afraid to tell her. Now that she had a boyfriend, I knew I had lost my chances.
"Oh my gosh!" Penelope yelled. "It is so nice to finally meet you! y/n has told us so much about you!"
Owen smiled and gave y/n a side hug, "Hopefully all good things."
"Yes," JJ quickly said. "She makes you seem amazing. Hopefully you can live up to the expectations."
"Hopefully I do not disappoint," Owen replied.
The night continued with the team asking Owen questions. I had met Owen before and he truly was a nice guy. That was the worst part. However as the night continued, y/n acted strange and almost seemed afraid of Owen. She was acting timid, something she has never done, not even in front of an unsub.
Owen went to get y/n a drink so I decided it would be the perfect time to ask y/n, "Are you okay? You've been acting strange, is Owen hurting you?"
"What?" y/n laughed. "Spencer are you okay? Of course not. Owen and I are perfectly fine."
I sighed, "Okay, just checking. Are we still on for Dr Who tomorrow night?"
"When have I ever not showed up for Dr Who?" y/n retorted. "I will obviously come. Nothing can ever come between us and Dr Who."
Owen suddenly came up behind y/n, "Wait, you're hanging with Spencer tomorrow?" Owen asked aggressively. "I thought we were going to do something?"
y/n laughed, "I told you I can't ever hang on certain Fridays because I watch Dr Who with Spencer. I also never agreed to doing something together, I would have never forgotten a Dr Who watch party."
Owen glared at me. Obviously he was angry I was hanging out with y/n.
"I think it's time for us to leave," Owen said, grabbing y/n's arm very hard. "Say goodbye to your friends." Owen walked over to the table with y/n and put on a fake smile. As they walked out the door, I noticed y/n look back at me, tears in her eyes. Something was wrong.
The whole team was sitting at the table talking about something random when I decided to speak up, "How did you guys like Owen?"
A mix of complements were thrown by the girls, but the guys, they didn't seem too impressed. JJ, Emily, and Penelope, all went to get drinks while Rossi, Hotch, Derek, and I stayed at the table.
"What did you guys think of him?" I asked.
"I hated him," Derek said simply. "I saw the way y/n acted around him, much profilers the girls are. She's acting just like someone who has been manipulated and abused."
Hotch nodded, "I agree with Derek. I know we aren't supposed to profile team members, but the girls obviously don't see anything wrong."
"Are you guys sure?" Rossi asked. "I mean he seems very nice and maybe you all just think he is not good because you all wish y/n and Spencer were together."
The guys looked at me as I began to blush profusely, "I don't want to be with y/n that much anymore." They looked at me in disagreement. "Guys I'm serious, she has a boyfriend."
"Yeah and you don't like her," Rossi argued. "Just admit that you still have a crush on her and then if something really happens I will believe you."
"Fine," I sighed. "I still like y/n."
YOUR POV
"What the hell y/n," Owen screamed at you. "What the fuck is Dr Who night? You know I don't like him."
You choked a sob, "Owen it isn't like that. I don't like him, he's my best friend. Please don't hurt me."
"He obviously has something for you and you have something for him," He yelled.
"I d-don't lik-ke him Owen," I whispered. "I promise."
This had become your normal routine. Spencer or some other male would say something and Owen would go crazy. Especially about Spencer. Owen would yell at you and sometimes things would escalate. That unfortunately is how it went tonight.
It started with a push, then a slap. Sometimes it progressed more, but that was rare.
"We are going somewhere," Owen said.
You were being dragged out of the house, "Owen, what?"
"Well since you can't be obedient, I'm going to have to teach you somehow y/n."
And like that you were knocked out unconscious.
SPENCER'S POV
I walked into work carrying a coffee for both y/n and I. I decided to get her a coffee to apologize for last night's irrational decisions. I had come to the conclusion that Owen wasn't actually abusive, I was just jealous.
Derek and Hotch though, not so much.
"Baby girl, that guy is a grade A asshole," Derek said to Garcia. "Can you please just do one background check?"
Penelope sighed, "I can't do that Derek, I promised y/n I wouldn't look into him."
I decided to ignore the conversation and wait for y/n to come in for work. After about thirty minutes of waiting I decided to ask Hotch.
"Hey, is y/n coming in today?" I asked.
"Um, no," he said, pulling out his phone. "I got this strange text though, can you look through it."
"Yeah let me see," I said, walking over to where he set his phone down.
"Agent Hotchner, I will not be able to come into work tomorrow for the case. I have an issue with my tonsils. I am sorry." I recited. "I don't think y/n typed this, maybe we should send someone to her house and to Owen's house."
Hotch groaned, "I'll send Derek and JJ, I am hoping our next case doesn't become y/n. Please continue to look over the text and I'll have Garcia look into Owen."
I nodded and put the text onto the white board so I would be able to write on it.
"Hotch, look at this," I said, Hotch walking over to me. "First, y/n hasn't called you agent Hotchner since her first day here, she usually calls you Hotch or Aaron. Also, y/n got her tonsils removed when she was 7."
"Garcia, have you looked into Owen at all," Hotch asked.
"Yeah a little, but it's all normal," Garcia answered.
Hotch glared at her, "Not enough, do a full deep dive. I don't care what y/n told you not to do, he is hiding something and so is she."
Garcia nodded and went straight to work as Hotch's phone began to ring.
"Morgan, you're on speaker."
"Okay so y/n's apartment was spotless," Morgan said. "But it was also locked, so I don't think she went home to her apartment last night."
JJ began to add on, "Owen's apartment on the other hand, was a mess. Like it looked like there was a robbery of some form. Also, y/n's purse was there."
"Garcia what do you have on Owen?" Hotch asked.
"Owen Winters, he is 42 and from Southern California," Garcia began. "As a child CPS was contacted many times and it looks like his dad killed himself when he was 8. It looks like he has an extensive amount of charges for abuse and harassment, all from his ex-girlfriends."
"Do any of them live near?" I asked.
"Yes, boy wonder, 25 year-old Vanessa Montgomery works in a coffee shop near the white house," Penelope explained.
"What is the coffee shop?" I questioned.
"The Starbucks over on Pennsylvania Ave. near the White House," she answered. "Why?"
"I know her, she is the barista that always gets our order perfect," I replied.
"Morgan and JJ pick her up on your way back," Hotch ordered. "Owen Winters is our new unsub and y/n y/l/n is our newest victim."
I sighed as I began to prepare the questions for Vanessa. I looked over at y/n's desk and decided to start looking through it for any details.
As I walked over to the desk, I looked at the coffee on y/n's desk. I wanted to apologize for something that I was right about. Why didn't she tell me? was the only thing going through my head.
At her desk I noticed some things that I guess I hadn't seen before. On her desk she has four framed pictures. One of her, Hotch and Rossi. Another that was her and the girls. One that was of her, Derek and me, from one of the first cases we had together . The last one however, was the one I had never seen. It was a picture of y/n and me from when she took me to Colorado to ski and hike.
I smiled at the memory,
"Spencer, be careful," y/n yelled as I walked closer and closer to the edge of the cliff.
I laughed, "y/n I'll be fine! Come here, let's take a picture."
"Fine! Spencer I swear if I fall, you are coming down with me."
"For you, y/n, I'd do anything."
I then began to look deeper in her desk. I felt like I was violating y/n's personal space, but this needed to be done. As I looked through her drawers, I wasn't able to find anything that could help. Until I looked in the last drawer.
In this drawer, I found papers for a restraining order that had been filed and denied. y/n was trying to get away from Owen.
"Guys, I found something," I said yelling into the conference room. The team looked at me to continue, "y/n filed a restraining order on Owen but it was denied. The date was two months ago. I was thinking back and y/n has been acting a little strange for the past five months. Owen has to have her."
"Reid, we already established Owen has her, but this ensures that he was abusive," Hotch said.
Emily sighed, "The timeline makes sense. She has been hanging out with us less and she has worn more turtlenecks in the past five months than I have seen anyone ever wear."
"Yeah," Penelope said. "y/n has ditched us for girls night for the past few months. She also got mad at me at team dinner last night when I asked why she wasn't wearing something more revealing."
"Her smiles have been fake," I added. "She smiles at us all the time to brighten our days, but they haven't been as nice, welcoming."
"Well, Reid, it looks like you were correct," Rossi said.
"What do you mean?" JJ asked.
Derek laughed, "Last night when you three went off to get drinks, Reid told us he thought Owen was acting violent with y/n and thought she was acting strange. Hotch and I immediately agreed, but Rossi didn't seem convinced. Rossi thought Reid was just jealous because he has a crush on y/n and he doesn't realize she likes him."
"Derek, not the time," I said sternly.
Emily laughed, "I can't believe you of all people couldn't see it Spencer. y/n is hopelessly in love with you and now she is dating a scumbag because she doesn't think you like her."
I sighed as I began to look over where y/n could be located, thinking about the idea of dating y/n wouldn't help us find her. We had made little progression on this, but we knew it had to be somewhere with significance to either one of them or both of them.
I decided to ask Garcia, "Garcia, have you made any progress on where y/n could be?"
"Yes 187, it looks like Owen owns a small cabin around half an hour from here," Garcia said.
"Okay let's go now," Hotch told us.
Garcia gasped, "Wait there is a live feed. I'm putting it up on the screen."
The video was horrific. y/n was tied to a chair looking almost dead. She had blood falling from above her head and looked like she had been through hell.
"Hello BAU," Owen said to the camera. "I have your dear y/n, but you wont be able to get her. y/n will never be out of my sight ever again. I will not have Dr. Spencer Reid ruin our relationship."
"It's not your fault Spence," y/n said to the camera. My heart clenched. She was in pain and I couldn't be there to help her.
"He is the one in the way of our relationship y/n," Owen yelled. "Of course it is his fault."
"Spencer isn't the issue with our relationship Owen," y/n yelled back. "You are."
Hotch started to grab his things, "She shouldn't have said that, we need to leave now. She is already in danger."
We all ran to the SUVs. I went in a car with Derek and Hotch. Derek drove and broke every traffic law imaginable, making the thirty minute car ride less than twenty. The three of us grabbed out vests and began to run to the cabin.
Suddenly, Hotch stopped me, "Spencer it isn't safe for you to be there."
"Hotch I have to go," I protested.
"Spencer, you are the reason she is there," Hotch said. "It may be Owen's fucked up mind, but you are the trigger that made him angry. y/n loves you more than him and he noticed and now we're here. Stay outside." I decided to not fight and stay outside to wait for the other team members. The other SUV pulled up quickly after us.
"Jesus Christ, that was the fastest I've ever driven," Emily complained. "Spencer what are you doing out here?"
"Morgan and Hotch already moved in, Hotch doesn't want me inside," I explained.
"I'll stay out here with you Kid," Rossi said. I nodded in thanks as I watched Emily and JJ run to the cabin. I stood staring at the cabin. Time had become slow motion. It felt like an eternity watching the movement inside.
I heard Derek yell from the cabin, "MEDIC! WE NEED A MEDIC!" I immediately ran into the cabin. I looked over and saw y/n in Derek's arms, barely breathing. I heard Owen yelling at me, but couldn't focus on anything besides y/n.
"y/n," I said, moving to where I was holding her head. "y/n, I need you to listen to me. I love you, I always have and I am so sorry I never told you."
"Sir, we need you to move," the medic said, trying to move y/n onto the stretcher. I began to move when I felt someone grab my hand. I looked down and noticed it was y/n. She gave my hand three squeezes. I Love You.
With y/n on her way to the hospital and Owen getting taken back to Quantico, Derek, JJ, and I all went to the hospital to keep tabs on y/n while the others closed the case.
I sat in my chair nervous out of my mind. Derek sat next to me trying to calm me down and JJ was across from me.
"Spencer, you need to calm down," Derek told me.
"I can't calm down Derek, y/n could die," I said frantically.
JJ began to laugh, "Did you know the other day y/n told Emily, Penelope, and I, that she wanted kids? Can you imagine that? y/n with kids?"
A tear trickled down my face, "She always told me she wanted two kids, one boy and one girl. y/n would be a great mother."
Derek laughed, "The thing that would make y/n such a great mother if her kids were also yours Pretty Boy. I have known since the beginning you two would have pretty kids." I laughed, but also glared at him.
"y/n y/l/n?" The doctor called. The three of us stood up and the doctor began to walk towards us, "y/n is out of surgery. It was touch and go for a while, but she is stable. There were many noticeable signs of abuse that were old, she has a broken harm and three broken fingers, all of which are old."
I let out a shaky breath, "When can I- we see her?"
"I can only let one person in at a time and I doubt she is awake," the doctor explained. JJ and Derek looked at me, signaling me to go to y/n's room. I followed the doctor to her room.
"It might be a little much to see, she may not look like herself. She is very, very fragile and has wires attached to her," the doctor said before opening the door for me. Walking into the room, the environment was tense. y/n was laying in the hospital bed with wires attached to her and much of her body was wrapped up from the surgery and from her injuries.
I went over and sat next to her bed, grabbing onto her hand, "y/n, you can't hear me but I am here. It's Spencer. I am so glad you are okay, but why didn't you tell me about Owen? I could have done something. WE could have done something. I am just so glad you are safe."
For the rest of the time, I sat there watching her sleep. Not in a creepy way, but to make sure she was safe. I was so pissed at myself for not realizing what Owen was doing earlier. I should have been able to see the warning signs. Some of them were subtle, when she wouldn't hang out with the team or was constantly checking her phone. But some of them should have been immediate red flags, the flinching in front of the unsub or how she always wore clothes to cover herself. I should have known. The team should have known.
I felt y/n's hand move and saw her shift, "Spencer?" she asked.
"y/n," I said breathlessly. "I am right here, but I need to go get a nurse. You are at the hospital, Owen hurt you."
I started standing up to leave, "Spence, no. Don't leave me."
I sighed, looking at her disheveled features, "y/n, I will be right back. You need to see a nurse."
Walking out of the room was painful, hearing her sobs in fear of being hurt again. It pained me to know I was leaving her when she needed me, again.
I walked over to her nurse, "Um y/n y/l/n has woken up, I thought you should know." The nurse said her thanks and walked with me to y/n's room. As we walked in, the sound of y/n's labored breaths became more noticeable.
"Miss y/l/n, we need you to calm down," the nurse said, running to y/n's bedside.
Immediately, I walked over to y/n and held her hand. "Sir, you need to exit the room," the nurse said, ushering me away from y/n. At that moment I didn't know what was worse, hearing y/n's cries or feeling so helpless in the situation.
Suddenly, I felt a presence next to me, "Reid, you need to leave, it's not good for you here."
Derek.
"Derek, I-I-I can't just leave," I stuttered. "I need to be there to help, she's all alone."
"Kid, you need to shower," Derek said.
"No, Derek you don't understand," I said angrily. "I can't just leave her here again. I didn't notice when she was hurt and I need to show that I care."
Derek sighed, "Reid, she knows. She's not going to hate you. No one knew that she was going through that. It's not your fault."
I was about to say something when I say y/n being moved out of her room by doctors, "What is going on?" I asked.
"Miss y/l/n is getting taken back into surgery," the doctor said. "We don't know what happened." I began to hyperventilate. I was freaking out. y/n wasn't alright. She was going to die.
As I began to sob, Derek pulled me into a hug, "She is going to be alright man. You'll get to see her again and talk to her and finally ask her on a date. Does that sound good?"
I unconvincingly nodded my head.
"No, Spencer, don't do that," he said. "Don't doubt the doctors and think about the statistics, y/n is not a statistic."
I nodded, wiping my eyes.
"There you go," Derek smirked. "Now, go take a shower at your house so y/n wont shy away at your scent. Also, maybe get her some flowers. She likes-"
"Pink roses," I interrupted, laughing. "Pink roses are the most difficult flowers to find."
Derek laughed, "At least try to find them."
"For her," I began. "I'd do anything."
After that, I ran to the SUV to head to Quantico and get my car. The car ride felt like forever and I wasn't excited for the possibility of seeing Owen. Thankfully, I didn't see Owen between the time of dropping off the SUV and going to the parking lot to get my car. The car ride to my apartment was short, thank God. I decided to take a quick shower, just wanting to freshen up. I got dressed in my home clothes, which were in fact different from my work clothes, contrary to the belief of most of my team members.
I made it to the flower shop that was down the street from my apartment. I was usually able to find at least one pink rose here, but it was typically very difficult.
"Hello," the shop owner said. "We are close to closing Spencer. Do you need anything in specific?"
"Pink roses," I stated.
The owner laughed, "I'll have to check the back, but don't get your hopes up."
I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but I couldn't help myself. y/n loves pink roses and I love y/n.
The owner came back, "You my kind sir, are in good luck. We had one bouquet left of pink roses in the back."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," I said, pulling out my money. The owner nodded as I ran out the door to my car.
Speeding to the hospital, I made it to the waiting room. In the waiting room, I couldn't find the team. They were all there, but they weren't in the waiting room. I decided to go to y/n's room and see if they were near there.
Walking to y/n's room, I heard laughter. I looked into the room and saw the team in there along with y/n, smiling. I knocked on the door and slowly opened it.
"Spence," y/n smiled. "I missed you."
"Well I should get going," JJ began. "I need to go see my boys."
The rest of the team followed with their excuses for leaving y/n and I alone.
"H-hi y/n," I stuttered. "I brought you flowers, h-how are you?"
"I am as good as I can be," y/n laughed, obviously compensating the pain. "Thank you for the flowers Spence, I can't believe you could find them at this hour. You have always told me-"
"10 AM is the best time to buy pink roses," I interrupted. "Sorry."
"It's okay Spence, how are you?" She asked.
"Not that great," I said honestly. "Why didn't you tell us y/n?"
y/n sighed, "It was hard Spencer. I already barely had time alone with you guys and I didn't want to ruin it. Owen was also very scary- a mad man. I felt hopeless Spence, I didn't know what to do. I mean I've seen situations like this all the time in cases, but when it was actually happening I felt like there was nothing to do."
I held on to y/n's hand, giving it small kisses while she continued to talk me through her feelings, "and Spencer, I don't want to be alone tonight. Do you think you could stay?"
"Of course y/n," I answered.
"Thanks Spence, you're the best," she said. We continued to sit in a comfortable silence, watching the new episode of Dr Who on the small television in the corner of the room when y/n spoke up again, "Did you mean it?"
"Did I mean what?" I asked, hoping she didn't mean my love confession.
y/n looked at me, knowing I was avoiding the topic, "When you said you love me Spencer. Did you mean it?"
"Yes," I answered.
"I love you too," She said.
I smiled, "Maybe once you're better Icantakeyoutodinner?"
"Spencer say it slower and I'll answer," y/n laughed. "I couldn't understand you."
"Once you're better maybe I can take you out to dinner?" I asked.
"Of course," y/n said. "But no Indian, if we are going on a date I want to go out somewhere. I want to feel pretty."
"To me, you are the most beautiful girl in the world," I said.
y/n blushed profusely, "I still can't believe you found those pink roses! I bet you had to look all over."
"I did, but for you, I'd do anything."

The 101 Deaths of Danny Phantom
AO3 link
One of the first things people learned about dealing with ghosts, other than not to try and date them, is to never asks about their death or obsessions. That doesn’t mean the citizens of Amity Park aren’t curious though, especially about their resident ghostly hero and the confusing and concerning comments he sometimes makes.
“Are you okay?” Phantom asked Maisie as she shook and tried to hold back tears after that car had almost slammed into her. She sometimes joked about getting hit crossing the street of her college campus to pay her obnoxious loans but it was another thing entirely to almost experience it herself. Maisie was nearly twenty, she shouldn’t be comforted by someone younger than her little step sister but here she was, shaking like a lead and leaning into Phantom’s comforting, chilly touch.
“Sorry,” she stuttered, “thank you, I’m sorry I’m just-”
“Hey, it’s okay to be upset that was very scary. The thought of dying is very scary.” Through her adrenaline and her tears, she took in the ghost’s unnatural glow, his faded, barely visible appearance and the fact that he was floating a foot off the ground. Maisie knows this ghost, this boy, knows more than she ever could about death.
“And getting run over by a car sure is a bad way to go,” the ghost kid chuckled awkwardly, taking his cold hand off her shoulder to scratch at the back of his neck. “You should see how my dad drives or my mom or my sister if she’s running late enough,” Phantom paused in thought. “No one in my family should have a license now that I think about it. Anyway,” he dismissed with a wave.
“My sister and I were getting ready to head out to school and my dad was backing out of driveway too fast and didn’t see us and uh, luckily I got my sister out of the way in time haha,” Phantom trailed off awkwardly. Was it because of the uncomfortable conversation or because he noticed her dawning horror.
Her best friend ran the community college’s Phan club so Maisie was a member by default. Phantom’s death was sometimes talked about late at night, everything from wrongful murder to a freak accident. She never in her worst nightmares imagined being him being runover in front of his own house by parental ignorance. It was so normal, a quick mistake and a life lost.
“Oh my god,” he said with an adorable little green blush. “Why am I babbling about that? You almost got hit by a car, I’m probably retraumatizing you or something. I should probably go get the jerk who almost hit you,” he said before disappearing into thin air.
“Tia is not going to believe this,” she whispered to no one. All she knew is that for the rest of her damned life she was going to look both ways when crossing the street. She’d seen first hand what a single moment of reckless driving could cause.
XxX
Matthew, not Matt or Matty or Hughie, Matthew shivered from the cold. He was only in his boxers with little Pacman on them. It had been fine when he’d gone to bed considering it was mid-August but Phantom and this stupid flaming mecha ghost had tussled outside the summer camp he was working at. He could see some of the kids snickering at his state of undress though he was just extremely glad they were alive enough to disrespect him like this.
“Oh man, I’m sorry,” the ghost kid said with big, sad eyes that looked so human despite the fact that they were literally glowing. He looked around at all the snow and ice left over from his fight. “Jeez you guys must be freezing, I wish I could warm you all up but all I can do is make things colder.”
“S’okay,” Matthew said through his chattering teeth. “Teaching the kids how to start a fire was supposed to be next week but we can get a jump on it.” That got a smile out of the ghost and within a half hour, the other counselors were distributing blankets and hot beverages to the kids clustered around multiple fires. They didn’t seem particularly upset by the potentially fatal attack, Matthew will breakdown about that at a later time when he was alone. For now, he just smiled as the children chattered happily with the ghost while he cleaned up as much of the damage as possible.
“So you spend all day fighting ghosts?” Zoe asked with stars in her eyes.
“A lot of the nights too,” Phantom nodded, “I do other stuff but yeah it seems ghost fighting takes up most of my time.”
“Where’d you learn those cool powers?” Zuri asked, miming a punch.
“Comes with being a ghost,” Phantom shrugged, “my ice powers came in later though so I still struggle a bit with them but I’m getting better every day.”
“Why ice though?” Morris said with his cocked curiously to the side. “I see some ghosts use fire or shadows, why do you have ice?”
“Ah that’s a little personal,” Phantom chuckled but his posture was easy despite the invasive question. “Specialty powers like my ice require special circumstances and a certain uh connection to the ghost. Someone like me couldn’t use fire or electricity or plants, ice is in my soul, it’s who I am.”
Matthew paused in drinking his lukewarm coffee as a horrible thought came to mind. He’s been an outdoorsman all his life, practically from the time he could walk. He’d been a deep woods camping guide for a decade before switching to working at summer camps. But the years working in the relative comfort of a stable camp didn’t erase his knowledge of how unforgiving and deadly the woods in the winter could be. A grown man, much less a young teen, would freeze to death in 20 minutes if it was cold enough.
It made sense for ghosts to develop powers related to their deaths. Had Phantom been one of the dozens of unfortunate kids he read about every year who ran away in the middle of winter only to found later as a frozen corpse. He eyed the boy’s snow white hair and frigid aura he exuded with mournful trepidation. God, what a horrible way to die.
“I’d get chilly with ice powers,” Tabby said with a shudder, she held out her cup of cocoa. “You want some of my cocoa to warm you up?”
“No thanks,” Phantom said with a soft smile that was warm despite everything. “The cold hasn’t bothered me for a while.”

Ghost attacks may be the norm but, if there was one good thing that came out of whole mess it was the fact that violent human crimes went down drastically. So when the rare murder did happen, the shock and fear rippled through the whole town.
Stanford Newton had only been sheriff of Amity Park for eight months after the last guy had gone gray overnight and moved to Florida the next day. It was a daunting position but one he bore proudly. This wouldn’t be his first murder investigation having initially cut his teeth as a beat cop in Chicago but it would be the first in Amity. And it certainly was the first in which the dead served in an active capacity.
“Amanda Chastain, 27. Officially she was a waitress down at Spengler’s Diner but she’s been picked up for prostitution twice in the last year,” Stan said calmly, ignoring the cold, angry presence over his shoulder. “History of polysubstance abuse as well, not that either of those things mean she deserved this.” Used, beaten to death and then dumped in the trash like yesterday’s paper.
He wondered if she’d come back a ghost or if she’d finally get some peace this world hadn’t offered her. “We don’t have many leads right now, I’m afraid. Acting illegally as they are, there’s not a lot of resources these poor girls have to turn to.”
“I’ll find them,” The Phantom said with blazing conviction, his voice thick and sharp as ice. “I’ll find and bring them to justice and make sure no one else is hurt again.”
“I believe you,” Stan nodded, shutting his notebook as he finally turned to face the teenage superhero haunting his town. He can’t say he liked what he saw. The Phantom looked even less human than usual, his aura flaring and flickering like the foggy mist before a heavy snowstorm. His unnatural green eyes glowered, painting his too young face in a terrifying light.
The kid looked furious, clearly taking this death to heart. He’d read the Fenton’s memos about obsessions and such but this seemed beyond that. “But don’t hurt anyone to do it, or yourself while you’re at it.”
“I won’t, I’ll make sure they’ll face human justice and don’t worry,” Phantom gave a snarling smile. “No mortal can hurt me, not like this,” he growled causing the hairs on Stan’s arms and neck to stand on end. He flew off after that, presumably to track down Amanda’s killer.
“Not like this,” Stan mumbled to him, pulling out his handkerchief and wiping his brow where a cold sweat had broken out. “Jesus Christ that poor kid.” Stan had seen plenty of murdered and mutilated bodies in his lifetime, some of them even kids. He just never got to talk to them after they’d had their life forcibly snatched away. It would explain the ghost’s near fanatical determination to save others, why he took a stranger’s murder so personally.
“I hope your own murderer is behind bars,” Stan said as he tucked his handkerchief back into his coat pocket. “Or even six feet under, for killing a good kid like you.” Stan made his way back to his squad car so he could head back to the station and move forward with the official investigation. But he’d eat his hat if there wasn’t a stammering lowlife there by tomorrow ready to turn themselves in.
Maybe after all this was settled down, he’d delve into some of the cold cases stacked in the cellar. Maybe in there he’ll find a picture of a smiling, carefree teen who’d disappeared and returned with the power now to ensure no one else suffered as he had.

“Yes, I know about the Phantom,” Luis Oliveira will say to anyone who so much as brings up the ghost kid. Locals know better by now but the tourists eat it up every time. He twists his finely combed mustache and gestures to the floor where his audience is standing. “He died right there oh ten or eleven years ago.”
Luis has worked his way all across the the United States since he emigrated from Brazil in the 70s. He finally settled in Amity Park about twelve years ago. He’d never intended to stay in the small Midwest town but the fatal shooting of a young customer kept his little corner market open.
“He was a nice kid, always said hi to me and paid in exact change. Was big fan of the snacks I made, would stop by after school and take half my inventory. He had big brown eyes and a crooked nose,” Luis would smile at the memory before closing his eyes and frowning sadly. “One day, he came late. His teacher made him stay after to go over a failed test, I remember he complained. He was pulling out his money when robber burst in, demanding my money. I fumbled for the register key, dropped it. I bent down to grab it and I hear shots going off. Two over my head, another right into the boy’s throat.”
Luis will hear the sound of that sweet boy’s guttural choking sounds as he drowned in his own blood until the day he himself died. The robber left after the shot, Luis called the police and held the young man’s hand as he died. The would be thief were never found and Luis never did learn anything about the boy who’d died on his floor for getting hungry after school.
“As soon as I saw Phantom on the TV,” Luis would say, perking up after his moment of somber grief, “I knew it was that boy come back. Those kind eyes, I’d recognize them anywhere. He’s never come here but one day he will and I will be able to pass on my regret on not being able to save his life that day.”

“I think he killed himself,” Mikey whispered to Lester during lunch period, angling his voice low. “The jocks may love Phantom for his powers but I just know he was one of us, an unwanted nerd. I’ve seen him chatting up a ghost I’m pretty sure is Poindexter, Casper’s suicide kid. They’re probably bonding over their similar deaths and the circumstances that led to it.”
“That’s pretty dark,” Lester whispered back. “I also get unpopular vibes from him but I don’t think he’s the time do uh do that to himself; he’s too stubborn and protective. But I bet he was the victim of a prank gone wrong. Dash locked Fenton in the Janitor’s closet last Wednesday, he got out okay somehow but maybe something like that happened to Phantom. He always looks kind of annoyed at the A-listers, maybe they remind him of old bullies.”
“Nuh-uh,” Clara said, pushing up her glasses with her middle finger. “The ghost kid totally got electrocuted or something. He was fighting that weather ghost and he sent lightning bolts his way and Phantom flinched. He fought the Ghost King and yet a little electricity scares him? It might not’ve even been a lightning strike but something manmade like a machine backfiring or something.”
“Get real,” Mikey scoffed, sipping his milk with an eyeroll. “I’m sure we’d have heard about some poor kid getting zapped to death; this town isn’t that big.”
“We’d have heard about a suicide too,” Lester noted with a wry grin.
“Shut up Mr. I base my theories around Fenton who’s a known weirdo”.

“I’m telling you, the ghost kid died of some debilitating illness,” Abbie McMillian, retired school teacher and three year reigning champ at the Tristate area’s Daylily Competition. She sipped her tea and spoke with as much confidence as she had back in the day wrangling Amity’s impressionable youths. “The superhero thing is clear wish childhood fulfillment, a chance to live and be free like he never got to in life. You see how happy and carefree that young man looks while flying? Clearly he spent his formative years sick and weak.”
“No way,” Greta von Martin frowned as she aggressively stirred her own tea to show her displeasure. “I worked in a hospital for close to 30 years and I know what chronically sick kids look like and Phantom doesn’t fit the bill. I will agree he’s carefree when he’s not battling spooks but he acts like a stupid teen. I’m telling you, the boy got into his parent’s liquor cabinet or took a few too many of whatever pill was going around his school. Tragic but something that happens every day.”
“Greta, dearie,” Abbie said with a pinched frown. “We’ve been friends since grade school and I love you like a sister but you are wrong and until you admit it, I won’t share anymore of my recipes.”
“You’re just being stubborn because you can’t see what’s right in front of you even after working with kids half of your life, Abbie, love,” Greta sniffed. “And you can kiss my grandson’s help weeding you garden goodbye until you relent.”

Perhaps one of the most human traits is curiosity, especially about what comes after death. Now the good people of Amity Park know a great deal about the dead so the lives before is what attracts their attention and none so more than the ghost boy. Maybe it’s because he’s their hero or maybe it’s because he’s so young. Or perhaps it’s because Phantom is such a mess of contradictions that it’s very hard to guess how the unfortunate boy met his end. But everyone has their own theories, from the mundane to the fantastic, some with evidence backing them up and others pure poppycock.
But for all their curiosity, as much as it burns them to know, they’ll never ask. They don’t want to risk the powerful ghost’s wrath but, moreover, it seemed in poor taste. The boy risked his afterlife to keep them safe, they couldn’t ask what traumatic and miserable circumstances had led to this point.
And besides, it was so much more fun to look up at ghostly figure as he sped through the skies and wonder.

Hi ! I've seen that your request are open so here's mine for mister Park Jimin or Kim Taehyung, whatever you prefer !
So like, It would a scenario where the reader starts sending letters to one of them that is in prison for whatever reasons (it's up to you), and they start falling in love through these letters until they finally meet in real life when he gets out. And if you'd like, maybe things can get a little (a lot) freaky once they reunite. But overall it would be a fluffy love story :)
Thank you in advance if you decide to write it ! Hope it was clear enough...(I love your writing by the way <3)
Not me calling my dad (who is a lawyer) to ask for legal advice over this lol
Also I did Jimin because I have lots of Tae requests on my to-do list
A crime by law but not by morals. You were looking through the profiles of the prisoners that wanted a pen-pal —just because your friend had mentioned the organization and you were curious— when an inmate caught your eye. He caught your eye because he was undoubtedly the most handsome man you had ever seen; face so ethereal it made you wonder if he was human or a fairy. And when you dug through his profile a bit more, you found about the reason for his incarceration. Young man hits his father after years of physical and mental abuse towards him and his mother, ends up giving him a fractured neck that needs multiple surgeries to be fixed. Court rules it was not done in defense, because the young man came home to find his mother having just been thrown down the stairs, meaning he wasn’t present for the violent act and therefore he acted out of malice. Five years in prison.
His name was Park Jimin. And be it his majestic beauty or the injustice you felt for him upon reading his file, you decided to send him a letter. You didn’t know what you expected in his response —if you even got one of those— but it was definitely not one of the sweetest letters you had ever read. Thanking you for the gesture like it was the best thing that had happened to him the past two years he was in there. Immediately sharing with you his interests, like his passion for dancing and singing, as well as his love for drawing, taking the liberty to include a small piece of art he had created in the letter. Which was phenomenal. I know you might not believe me, but I’m actually a great dancer. And to prove it to you, here are some scribbles of me dancing.
He wanted to know all about you. And by the way he wrote, you knew you wanted to get to know him better as well. He was so funny, nice, smart, understanding… A perfect man trapped away that you could only talk to via those letters. A perfect friend. I have made a couple of friends here, but by far the best acquaintance has been you. And perhaps even more. I saw a dream about you last night. It was a nice dream because I could touch you. Time passed and you went from smiling at receiving his letters to verging on addicted to them.
I wish I could meet you. Perhaps… one day…
That day finally arrived three years after you first started corresponding, and by then Jimin knew you were waiting for him; you knew he was counting the days even more than he was already. He asked you for a few days to visit his mother and find his old self back before seeing you. And you had agreed to meet at a specific diner, on a specific day, at a specific time. And knew that if one of you didn’t show up, you would probably lose touch forever. You tried not to think about that as you sat and waited, butterflies in your stomach absolutely killing you. The door opened and closed, the little bell over it ringing and signaling people’s arrival, yet never the one person’s you wanted.
“Sorry I’m late—” a sweet voice gasped next to you, “—but apparently there’s been changes to the public transports since I’ve been gone and I got a bit lost.”
You blinked at the man. Park Jimin. That was Park Jimin, right? The ethereal face you couldn’t stop thinking about, yet could have never imagined it would be even better up close. The chirpy voice you had tried to guess many times but never got so close to how at home this one made you feel. The smile, a smile that definitely lived up to his corny jokes, and his eyes that found yours, never to let go again. He was right in front of you and you couldn’t believe it. You didn’t know what to say.
“Hi…” you panted.
And his smile grew. “Hi.”
There was just a second of uncertainty, perhaps even awkwardness, before you both leaned in for a hug— a hug was appropriate after three years of talking and never seeing each other, right? A hug was appropriate after you had confessed to each other in every way other than the physical yet? He smelled like a fairy, flowers and scents of emotions of love filling your body as you held him as tightly as you could. Like you were afraid he would slip between your fingers, or you would wake up alone in your bed all of a sudden.
But none of that happened. Jimin sat with you and you had dinner together. It didn’t flow as easily as your letters did, but neither had such expectations when you were too busy battling the heat growing in your chest and he was too busy blushing with every compliment. “I’m sorry, I haven’t done this in a while…” This? “A date.”
It’s not like it was planned for you to kiss him before going into your apartment that night —I mean, you had definitely daydreamed about it enough times, but you understood why something like that might take some time. But it happened naturally, it would have been more awkward to prevent it. His lips soft against yours, even when things got more heated and his teeth bump into yours like he had forgotten how to do this. You pulled him in through the door and it was the most natural thing.
“I’ve missed you so much, even if this is the first time I see you.” You knew he meant it by the way his breathing was all over the place and you had barely even taken your shirt off. You struggled to find beautiful words like his, even if what you felt inside you was undoubtedly the most magnificent thing ever. But he understood you even if all you could do was kiss him. The moans that were born and died in between your lips told him all he needed to know.
“I can’t wait to have you in my life.” It was good enough, he seemed pleased enough. Happy enough to flip you on your back and change your positions at which you were making love, plunging into you as he held you as close as possible, mouth never leaving yours. A position normally so bland, yet so powerful when it’s with the person you love. He was whiny in your ear, almost crying about how good it felt to finally have you the way he wanted, to feel you, touch you, kiss you, fuck you. Love you. Jimin promised he wasn’t ever going to leave your life as he came, and you promised you wanted nothing more than to be with him as you found your own release. Confessing to each other in the physical sense for once, all throughout the night and the rest of the nights that were to come.
Park Jimin. Finally, in your arms.

your life was good until you turned 7
I mean
it was bad but not as bad as when you turned 7
it all started when your mom died, it was an afternoon you were walking home with her, another villain ( who hated your dad ) started running after you
you felt a hand pulling your hair and you were blinded by a light, when your vision returned, you saw blood everywhere and your mom, half of her body has chopped off but also was the villain's head.
you never really knew what happened there and you were too traumatized to even try to look for an answer
your dad (a villain) started acting more violently around you, telling you how her cause of death was you.
at first, he just yelled at you for no reason, and day after day he started hitting, spanking, and almost killing you.
after beating the shit out of you he'd be always like
"omg i'm so sorry yn i'm really sorry i'm a monster, please forgive me please, you are the only family i have left please..." he always sait that exact same words with tears in his eyes
you were easily manipulated by his words, he was your dad after all, he knew what was best for you
years afterwards you entered UA
