somehow the best day of your life had stretched out into the longest in the best and worst way possible.
you had spent your entire day surrounded by your closest friends and family, celebrating your union to the man you want to spend the rest of your life with.
but that day was going on for just a smidge too long when all you could think about was taking theo back to your hotel room and celebrating your first night as a married couple.
no one seemed to want to leave. even as 10pm rolled around everyone was still partying pretty hard.
you had sat yourself down a few minutes ago after dancing with your girlfriends and you could only watch in adoration as everyone continued to dance.
and then your eyes locked on theo.
your husband.
the slight smirk on his lips as he approached you set your stomach on fire.
there would never be a day that you didnt feel like this just from the sight of your boy.
when he finally came to stand infront of you, his hand lifted to tilt your chin up slightly.
" how's my wife doing ?" he questioned, a smile lighting up both of your faces.
" i'm doing fine, how's my husband doing ?"
" wishing people would get tired of dancing already "
a laugh bubbled up from both of you.
" i can't take this much longer, teddy. you look too handsome in your suit..." your voice was almost whiny as you looked up at theo. you would think at your wedding you would've gotten to spend some time with him but with so many guests it was hard to get a minute alone.
" c'mon, sweetheart. " he said quietly, his hand dropping from your face to offer it out to you.
you didnt hesitate to take his hand as he lead you out of the hall and into the garden. the fresh air seemed to get rid of every ailment you had previously been feeling.
the slight pinch of your shoes, the minor headache you'd had from your hair and the loud music and the pins in your hair.
theo lead you to the end of the garden, setting his jacket down on a stone plinth before helping you up onto it.
" missed you today, gorgeous " he admitted, one of his hands coming up to brush your hair from your face, the other resting on the fabric of your dress, pulling it up slightly as his hand travelled up your leg.
" missed you too, handsome. thought i'd get to see more of my husband on our wedding day. "
it was nice to know that you had both been feeling the same way today. the most you had seen eachother was during the photos and then at the meal, but since then you'd been overwhelmed by loved ones.
his lips slotted over yours and your arms lifted to wrap around his neck while his other hand dropped to your other leg.
with both of his hands he made quick work of pulling your dress up to the best of his ability, his hands moving to hold your legs apart so he could slot easily between them.
his kisses were soft and passionate, both of you clearly just wanting to bask in each others presence.
as he pulled back, a slight laugh slid over your lips when you saw your lipstick smudged around his mouth.
even with the new band on his finger, it was nice to see a more obvious reminder that this was your man.
you began to trail a line of tinted kisses along his cheek, the feeling of his palms against your thigh spurring you on.
when you reached his ear you dipped your head slightly and bared your teeth, taking his earlobe between them and biting down slightly, eliciting a soft groan from your husband.
he lifted one of his hands from your leg to push lightly against your chest.
" not now, baby. we gotta get through the rest of the night, and then i'm all yours "
while that idea sounded lovely, the rest of the night seemed like it would take forever.
" you sure we can't just make an irish exit ?" you asked causing the smile you fell in love with to bloom across his face.
" we can't make an irish exit at our wedding, but i promise when we get back to the hotel, it will be just me and you until we head to the airport "
oh, the airport. your honeymoon.
the image of lounging on a beach with theo seemed to distract you enough for him to get you off the plinth and lead you back to the party, the smear of your lipstick on his face the only evidence you had ever been gone.

After your interview, Coriolanus insisted on being discharged so he could go home. If rest was all he required, he could do that at home, is what he told the nurses.
As soon as Tigris had gotten him home and retired to bed herself, he was quietly getting dressed again. If the arena was still going to be used even after the bombing, he had to see what that would mean for you. It couldn't have been rebuilt in a matter of days, and having an idea of what it would look like could possibly give you an advantage that you so desperately needed. The donations were a good start, but he could do more. He had to do more.
He walked all the way there and then to you with a bag on his shoulder and a knee that never seemed to stop aching. He could feel every step he took in his spine, and by the time he made it to the zoo, he was relieved that he could finally take a break. And finally, he could see you.
"Y/N?" You think you're hallucinating from hunger and paranoia when you hear his voice, making you sit up. "Y/N. It's me. Come here." Coryo's voice comes again, and you're quickly standing and making your way over to the bars.
"Coryo." You smile, wishing you could hug him. You still weren't totally sure if he was really there, or if you were slowly losing your grasp on reality. "What are you doing here?"
"I had to see you." He whispers, not hesitating to reach through the bars and grab your hand.
"But, Sejanus said-"
"I got them to discharge me after the interview. All I can do is sleep it off now anyway." He says, lifting your arm to get a closer look at the stitches. It's not like he could do anything to help it now, but he still wanted to make sure it wasn't getting infected.
You let him, and from the warmth in his hands as he touches you, ever so gently feeling the outside of your cut and grasping your hand, you can tell that he's real. "I thought I'd never see you again." You whisper.
"Likewise." He replies, lowering your arm but not letting go of your hand. "Are you okay? Are you in pain?"
"No." You say softly, giving a slight shake of your head. "It's nothing in comparison to what's to come. I'm trying to appreciate what I have."
Coryo is sure that is the nicest and saddest way anyone in the history of the world has ever confessed to being in pain. "You'll be okay." He assures you. "I won't let anything happen to you. I can't. You saved me."
"His nature is too noble for the world: He would not flatter Neptune for his trident, Or Jove for's power to thunder." You say quietly, a small smile forming on your lips.
"Romeo and Juliet?"
"Coriolanus." You correct him, squeezing his hand where it's still wrapped around yours. "But, I have a confession to make."
"What is it?"
"Now, when I try and remember parts of Coriolanus, all I can truly think about is you." It's true. You tried to remember something from that play for your monologue, to say goodbye and thank him in a way he would easier understand, but instead, all you could think of were his blonde curls against his striking red uniform and his blue eyes against the softness of his skin. For the first time, your mind was empty.
He blushes, but he's sure you can't see it in the poor lighting of the cold night. "Well, your name has only ever meant one thing to me."
"Which is?"
"It's only ever been you."
You don't even realize he's as close as he is until you can feel his breath brushing over your skin, both of you having leaned in closer to hear each other until your foreheads were almost touching.
The cold that surrounded you completely disappeared as your eyes fell shut, lips hardly brushing against his. You both hesitated, at first.
Being stuck in that hospital bed for days only fueled the fire inside Coryo that was slowly burning and churning out smoke that would always led his mind straight back to you. He didn't care if you were 'District', how could he? You were made for him- and you proved that when you chose to save his life over saving yourself from a fate so horrible as a death in The Hunger Games. You weren't 'District'; You were You, and he simmered in the guilt of his rejection of you for days after he had done it. His dishonesty with himself had wasted precious days he could have spent with you, or at least you could have known. Right now, he could have been kissing you for the second, third or fourth time, but now he has to live with the fact that it's possible he'll only ever get to feel your lips on his just once.
Your first kiss wasn't what you imagined it to be. Not at all. You expected that you'd be home, for one, but if you could go back and tell your younger self that you would find your very own Romeo in a blonde boy from the Capitol, she would have laughed in your face. The circumstances would have broken her heart just like they are for you right now. He was gentle, too gentle for the role he was given.
When Coryo pulls away, he's startled to see your cheeks glistening with fallen tears, eyes red once you reopen them. God, how he hates seeing you cry. Especially because of him. Especially if he had hurt you, somehow. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"No." You sniff, wiping your cheek on your wrist as you look away. Maybe he doesn't mind seeing you cry as long as you're still looking at him. "It's not your fault I just... I don't know. I'm scared."
You feel annoying for telling him again. He knows. Of course he knows, you've told him so many times.
"I know... I know you are." He nods, reaching out and holding your cheek, urging you to look at him again. "But you're going to be okay."
"I'm not." You smile sadly. "Because I could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me; the carriage held but just ourselves and immortality."
Coryo just slightly shakes his head. "No." He denies the inevitability of your death vehemently. "Listen, I went to the arena. It's completely different in there. There are places to hide, to run, you could get up in the stands or down into the tunnels underneath. You can hide now and wait it out. You can do it."
"I... I'll try." You manage to squeak out, no longer wanting to cry in front of him, making him feel worse than he does.
Coryo nods, looking around behind you to double-check check none of the other tributes are awake. "I brought you some things that may help." He whispers, dropping his hand from your cheek to dig through his bag.
He pulls out a rolled-up scarf, it's hard to discern the colour in the dark as he holds it out to you. "Coryo, I can't take anything in. You know that."
"Please." He pleads. "I need you to take this. It can kind of keep you warm, or you could..." He trails off, watching as you unroll the silk fabric in your hands.
"I can't kill anyone." You remind him. "I won't do it."
"I know. I know that." He nods. "But everyone does things they aren't proud of to survive."
You chew on your lip as you rub the soft material between your fingers.
"Turn around." He tells you, holding his hands out for you to give it back. You hesitate before obeying, handing it back to him and facing the inside of the cage. "You can't carry it in, but I think if you wear it no one will notice." He whispers, gently pushing the strap of your dress down one of your shoulders.
You understand what he's trying to do, so you do the same thing on the other side and pull your arms out, letting the top half of your dress fall down around your waist.
Coryo's breath hitches in his throat as he stares at your bare back. Your skin was bruised and adorned a burn that looked like it came from being thrown across the ground. Your skin was supposed to be clear, untouched, and unharmed, but the state of it doesn't surprise him. He reaches around you, threading the unfolded material under your arms and across your front which you quickly adjust to cover your chest comfortably as he folds it over itself in the back. "Turn." He whispers, planting the softest of kisses on your shoulder as it bumps against the bars. He wanted to touch you, to drag his fingers across your skin and cherish the only time he would ever get to see you so bare, but he couldn't and he knew that.
You shiver from the warm touch, but make a point of turning quickly as he wraps it around you again, and it's just long enough to tie in the front. He helps you, though you could do it yourself, tying it tight and tucking the knot underneath the layered fabric to disguise it better. "Do whatever you need to with it." He tells you again, letting his hands slide over the material where it wraps around your waist.
You nod slightly, looking down at the scarf now tied around you. You felt safer in it already, less exposed. It felt like a hug. His hands slide up until they're pressed against your cheeks once more, and as he looks into your eyes he's hoping you understand how much he needs you to win.
You pull your dress back on, and it perfectly covers the scarf underneath.
"I have one more thing." He adds, reaching back into his bag and pulling out a small, silver compact.
You take it, turning it over in your palm. "Don't open it." He tells you quickly. "Don't open it until you have to. The powder inside is so deadly it'll kill you if you so much as breathe it in. Be careful."
You're quickly trying to hand it back to him, shaking your head. "Coryo, I told you-"
He pushes your hand back, but holds it in his. "I know. Don't use it if you don't want to. But I need you to understand that I will just be sick if I send you in defenseless. I can't let you die knowing I could have done more to help. I would do anything."
You nod, solemnly accepting that you have to take it. "I can't go in there with you, but I will do everything I can from out here. I promise. I'm not giving up on you." He insists. "They'll give me a computer, and I can send you things with the donations people send, and we have tons. Just like I told you. You won't starve. You just have to wait it out."
"Wait it out." You mumble back to yourself, still nodding as you look down at the cold metal compact held in your palm.
"I'll be watching you the entire time. We're in this together, okay? I'll be with you, you won't be alone." He gives you a small, weak smile.
"Okay." You whisper, tears still steadily falling from your eyes. "And then I can go home?" You ask quietly. You knew the answer, of course, but you desperately needed the reassurance.
"Then you can go home." Coryo confirms, squeezing your hands. "And see the stars, and your family, and your cat, and your books." He whispers.
"And you?" You ask, tilting your head at him, smiling with teary eyes.
"I'll come say goodbye." He nods, and your smile fades. Of course you couldn't stay together, but you hadn't even considered life after the games until this moment.
"Yes. Goodbye." Your smile fades into a more sad one.
"But I'll write to you." He promises.
"And I can send you books." Your normal smile returns and he nods.
"I would love that."
"That reminds me-" You tuck the compact into your pocket, dropping his hands and holding up a finger, telling him to wait while you walk away.
You carefully pull the small blanket from Jessup's sleeping form and grab the tattered copy of Romeo and Juliet, bringing it back to him "Here. Take these now, I just wanted to make sure they got back to you."
"Thank you." He nods, taking them back from you. He wasn't sure how he'd get them back otherwise, but he wasn't sure he really cared.
"Will you read it?" You ask, pointing to the book.
"I will. I'm looking forward to it." He smiles, tucking it under his arm. "I have to go, I'm sorry..." He says, realizing that you both needed as good of a night's sleep as you can possibly get. He was sure he wouldn't be sleeping much as it was.
"Of course. Go home, it's cold out." You nod, arms wrapped around yourself and suddenly he feels guilty for taking the blanket. There it was again, that selflessness. You had endless amounts of it- he was still worried you would do something stupid in the games like sacrifice yourself for Jessup, but only time would tell.
"Hey, take my advice, okay? We're a team." He reminds you and you nod. "Don't trust anyone once that bell rings. I mean it."
"Okay, Coryo. I trust you." You agree, wanting him to understand that you really would try your best to listen.
"Good." He nods, turning to look behind him, at the path he was about to take home. He was hesitating and you could tell, he didn't want to say goodbye, so you would.
"Good night. Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow." You hum, a knowing smile on your face that he wouldn't fully understand, but you didn't need him to. It was a goodbye, that much he understood.
"Goodnight." He whispers, running his hand down the skin of your arm one last time before leaving. He couldn't stay forever, even though he wished he could.
When he got home and into bed, he couldn't resist opening the book that you had cradled in your hands just an hour earlier. He flipped through the pages under the glowing, warm light from his lamp, and the pit of sadness in his stomach only grew when he opened to where you had kept a bookmark. The rose he gave you, pressed and dried between the pages to save your spot.
He lifts the rose carefully, his eyes drawn to the words underneath. "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun."

summary: it was that moment, underneath the streetlight, that tangerine knew he had no choice but to love you

a/n; can't lie team this one kinda hurts maybe not as bad as 'the days you meet' but its also a diff kind of hurt??? anyways enjoy? inspo from one of my fav songs
psychopomp: a spiritual guide to a living person's soul
Tumblr media
it had been a year. one year since tangerine died on the bullet train. one year of grieving the man you loved harder each day that passed. you woke up each day wishing it was a dream, some sick fucking dream meant to torment you until it drove you mad but you'd still wake up. and when you did, tangerine would be lying next to you in bed, one arm draped lazily around your waist greeting you good morning.
it was only a day before tangerine died that the two of you finally spoke those three words. it wasn't even needed truth be told. you both knew the love you had for the other whether it be your actions or words, it was evident.
"you are my everything," tangerine whispered to you one night. the confession came out of nowhere in the middle of watching an action movie. from his lap you looked up at him, cheeks turning red but thankfully the dull light from the tv masked the blush. reaching up you gently stroked his chin running a thumb across his bottom lip.
"you are my everything and more."
the memory ached. your skull felt tight and you screwed your eyes tight wishing away the painful memory. it felt too real. it felt like that night two years ago was unfolding at the current moment. you could almost smell tangerine's shampoo and feel the fabric of the couch on your legs. it's not real. the air held no fragrance and the bed sheets were a far sensation from the fabric of the couch.
"i don't think i'd ever be able to do life without you," you grinned lovingly at tangerine. he stumbled in his steps, caught off guard by the loving sentiment.
tangerine quirked an eyebrow at you, "why 'cause i picked out some peppers for you?" he joked holding up a plastic bag of peppers he just grabbed from the grocery store shelf.
the laugh you let out echoed off the walls of the grocery store earning some curious eyes. some may think it's silly to profess such a statement for an action that is so mundane but you were smitten by tangerine, and something as simple as grocery shopping was something you wished to never experience without him.
even though you lay there with closed eyes you felt your lips twitch into the smallest of smiles. you could remember the confused yet playful tone in his voice and the way he dangled the bag of peppers. you swore you could feel the tingling on your cheek after he kissed you and then whisked you away to check out. your fingers twitched to caress your cheek but your arm couldn't move.
it was beautiful, that night 366 days ago. the sky had never been so clear. the breeze drifted delicately across your bare arms. the distant sound of a mother urging their child that it was time to leave the park was met with defiance. it made you giggle, understanding the desire to stay out late and continue to play. tangerine was standing behind you, arms wrapped around your shoulders, head tucked into your neck. his breathing tickled your neck ever so slightly raising goosebumps. you weren’t sure if it was intentional but he was rocking the two of you side to side as you both admired the sky. the way the midnight blue encapsulated the fiery orange.
“i love you,” he stated as if it was the easiest thing to say.
and it was. it was so easy the way the vowels and consonants rolled off his tongue to form three simple words. three words used so much on their own yet when put together carried the weight of the world.
you turned in his arms that moved to your waist and brought yours around his neck. he watched as your eyes glossed over and shined back at him as if he was staring at a star.
“i love you, tangerine.”
"do you mean it?" he jested with a lopsided grin, the fingers on your waist pushing you closer to his body.
"more than you could ever possibly know... moron..."
you took a heavy breath through your nose. your chest ached the same way it did that night except this time your heart pounded from anxiety. you swear you can feel tangerine here with you, you can feel the way his fingers pushed into your skin, you can hear the sound of his heart beating.
his heart beating.
it's not possible.
"but it is," you heard a whisper somewhere far in the depths of your mind.
you heaved forward and your eyes darted around. the lights were too bright and you could barely make out the figure in the corner of the room through half-open eyes. you ran a hand across your face in some measly attempt to wake yourself up more. if you weren't tucked underneath the white sheets you would've fallen over at the sight before you.
"tan- tangerine. w-what? i don't understand, what? what are you doing here," your head couldn't figure out what the hell was happening.
tangerine appeared at your bedside, his smile pulled into a line. he sighed, "i think it's me that should be asking what you are doing here?"
you looked at him quizzically. is he serious you thought. before you could yell at the man you thought was dead for the last year, you watched him solemnly gaze around the room, the side of his lips twitching. you seized all motion besides the robotic movement of your head as you took in the room around you.
white walls and floors, a white bed. a large window into a hallway. there were people running back and forth. the door slammed open and in rushed a frantic man adorned in a white coat. you watched him walk past you and in front of tangerine as if he wasn't there. the man in the coat yelled out to someone behind his shoulder and despite being next to him his voice was distant.
"tan, i don't understand what's going on," you whispered with shaking hands.
tangerine attempted to blink away tears. his blue eyes were even more striking in this moment. he looked beautiful standing next to you but you couldn't ignore the grief on his face.
"there was an accident," he said with a cracking voice, "a bad one."
you turned to look over your shoulder but you were face to face with yourself. anxiety crept throughout every vein inside your body and you began to pant. you felt your chest concaving into itself and you felt the swelling of your throat. you watched the doctors and nurses poke and prod at your body, the monitors unleashing their high-pitched songs.
"i don't understand tangerine what is happening. please, what is happening," you pleaded through panicked tears.
"you were in a car accident darlin'," he swallowed back the sob he wanted to let out. he placed his hands on your shoulders forcing you to face him now.
and you could feel it. you could feel the weight on your shoulders. you could feel the warmth on his hands. he was here. you could feel him, you could smell his cologne, you could see the way his eyes were looking at you, you could hear his voice.
"b-but you're dead... how. does that mean...?" you trailed off waiting to hear his answer as the tears brimming in your eyes finally broke.
"no, my love. not yet," he murmured, his hands rubbing down your arms attempting to bring you comfort, though the tears streaming down his beautiful face made you feel worse.
"i can't do life without you," you pleaded tugging at his hands, threading your fingers through his.
tangerine closed his eyes and steadied his breath. he desperately tried to ignore the way your eyes shined just like that night 366 days ago. the way the streetlights and the tears in your eyes shined as you confessed your love for him was a far cry from the reason why your eyes shined right now. but he couldn't help but be transported back to that park. he wished with every fiber of his being that that night never ended. that you two stood swaying back and forth muttering 'i love you' until dawn broke and day turned into night and night turned into day and you stood there on the pavement until your feet wore holes into the ground.
but he couldn't.
so he let your hands drop to your sides and brought his arms behind his neck. you watched as the gold chain lifted from his chest and he enclosed your hand with his pressing a firm kiss to your forehead.
"it's not your time, darlin'," he grieved. you felt the gold chain snake its way into your palm.
you felt a jolt of electricity course through your body. you could feel it in every bone, muscle, and vein and it ripped into your lungs and it tore you awake. you were met with the frantic eyes of doctors and nurses, some of whom sighed in relief.
"almost lost you there!" one of them chucked nervously fidgeting with a monitor and tubes.
unfortunately, that was the least of your concerns. your eyes scanned every inch of the room looking for tangerine. he was here. he was just here. he was real and alive. he had a pulse. his chest fell and rose because he was alive, he was breathing. you felt his hands on you and you felt his lips on your skin. so where was he? why don't you see him?
"excuse me where did that gentleman go?" you asked.
one of the nurses turned to you confused, "i'm sorry?"
"the man that was standing next to me. long hair, mustache, in a suit?" you pried hoping for any form of recollection to grace her face.
"i'm sorry miss but no one has been in here. i've been monitoring you alone for the past two hours until you started to flatline," she stated confusion still riddled in her tone.
all you could do was mutter the quietest of ohs. you looked down at your body that was now re-tucked underneath white sheets, an iv poking your left arm, a cast protecting your right hand. the white walls and floors with the large window in the wall, just like you had seen.
you noticed the nurse hunch down to the ground before standing up and examining something.
"oh this must be yours!" she exclaimed as you brought your eyes to look at her.
"how cute," she giggled, "there's a little tangerine on it."
time moved in slow motion as she placed the gold necklace in your hand.

Summary: Before all this, you were a nurse. A nurse who had patients, one of which was a man in a coma. A sheriff, you think, it was all kinda fuzzy now. When it all went sideways, you set up what you could for the man - but had to leave. You’d always wondered where he’d ended up; until in your search of shelter, you run into a familiar face.
TWS: Blood, gore, mentions of death, gun violence (just violence in general), swearing, angst, angsty!Rick, jealousy, and all things typical of TWD.
[[A/N: I listened to Boyfriend by Dove Cameron to write this, so... I think you can assume how this vibes. You simply have this man WHIPPED, I will not take any further questions. Thanks for reading :)) ]]
Tumblr media
Your eyes were hazy, something warm coming across your skin, as you followed the empty hallways. Well, not empty.
Rick was there, Judith carefully held in his arms -every once in a while, he'd lean down to kiss her forehead. The casual affection took you somewhere else for a moment, like watching your grandparents in the kitchen just so natural in each other's spaces -so domestic. When you were younger, reading books about extravagance -big gestures and life-threatening situations, your mind had settled on the balance of fairytales.
Who wished for a lackluster ending? Who wanted to dance in the kitchen too early in the morning, instead of the adventure of a lifetime? It hadn't made sense then.
But watching him now, gentle and bouncing around the room, you'd realized somewhere deep within yourself... maybe you had.
The idea of a home, where the sun seeped through curtains and the smell of breakfast wavered out through the air. Smiles, and playgrounds. Movie nights, and the whispers of promises of forever.
Your brain fogged, and you blinked to try to clear your head. Even just for a solid second, you still found Rick in your eyesight. And maybe he was dusted in dirt, and his hair wasn't washed, but the idea with him made much more sense. You just couldn't chance the thought, not in this world.
"You're drooling."
Clearing your throat, you turned to the intruder -Michonne, her smile small but still enough, "Very funny."
She paused, eyes focused on you for a second -like she could tell you were off. Straightening in her seat, she fully faced you -concern furrowed in her brow, "You okay?"
"Yeah," you echoed, eyes drifting to the pair - imagining the warm glow of a kitchen instead of the cold prison walls, "-just thinking about what I'm missing, you know?"
Michonne turned back to the two, "Yeah, I know."
"Can you imagine your own backyard?" you retorted, in disbelief with a laugh aired in your tone.
"My own house," she hummed, eyes flicking to the ceiling instead, "-I think I'd have a dog."
"Sometimes," you took the edge of your shirt in between your fingers -the material soft to the touch, "-I think about what curtains I would have. Isn't that stupid?"
"No," she answered -simply.
Michonne was direct like that, her answers straightforward and steady; sometimes, you doubted she'd ever really been insecure about an idea. She seemed so confident, you never thought to go against her. You didn't know her past, but it was hard to imagine anything breaking through that resolve.
You pursed your lips, turning back to the two -he was smiling now, the crinkle by his eyes so prominent as he looked down at Judith. It was so unabashedly bright; despite his whole world crumbling, he'd still lit up your corner of the world. And maybe you were a little biased, but you thought it'd be a tragedy if it went dark again.
"You should tell him," Michonne spoke, unflinchingly as if she'd read your mind.
You whispered, a breath across the room -you'd never named it, "Tell him what?"
She placed a hand on your shoulder, a gentle pressure that guided your eyes to meet hers. Her eyes leveled with yours, the look was easy to read despite the schooled expression -she knew, and so did you. You often wondered how many could see it in you, you knew it was obvious -the gazes searching to find his first, the stares lasting just a touch too long, smiling when he did.
"I think you know."
And you did.
You just weren't sure of much, you weren't sure if this world could be... loved. Could anyone in this world love or be loved? Despite what you felt, deep in your heart, you still weren't sure. Was it even possible for it to work? With everything else so harsh and direct, how could you even begin to-
"Plus," Michonne interrupted, a smile biting at her lips, "-you could do worse."
You laughed, leaning your head back to the sky -the thoughts fleeing from your mind like leaves in the wind, "I could."
When you leveled your head, your eyes connected with something new -Rick was looking at you. Bright blue followed the movement of your face, your lips quirked into a smile and you raised a hand to wave. Trying to avoid the warmth that swirled up in your stomach and the very real feeling of 'I told you so' radiating from Michonne just beside you, you pushed forward.
And there it was, the bright smile you'd seen just moments before except this time, it was directed to you. In a spare second, he pulled Judith's little arm up and waved back -gentle movements, but the notion there stayed the same.
Laughter took the place of a response, and you couldn't quite get your brain to form anything else -it was so fuzzy with memories you hadn't made yet, but you wanted to. Eventually.
Your eyes flickered to the sky, it had to be midday at this point -just as it began to cool off in the day. With daylight flickering, you had someplace to be.
"Alright," you hummed pulling yourself into gear, "-I can only handle so much of Rick Grimes a day."
Michonne laughed, "Liar."
You snorted, walking out into the day -eyes searching for a particular person. It had started about a month ago when you and Daryl had formed a bet. He'd said something about your choice of a weapon, and you'd said something about his.
"Bet if we switched, I could kill more walkers than ya."
"You are so on."
So, with some new rules in place, Daryl had sworn on the blue sky that he'd teach you how to use a bow. Wasn't fair if you didn't know how, so it was a necessary step.
Your weapon wasn't as... complex. So, the opposite wasn't really necessary.
You eyes caught him in the field, where he stood across from a... what the hell is that?
There's was a tall branch, sticking up from the ground with burlap sacks and hay sticking out -instead of good seams and crisp corners, however, this was not quite a masterpiece.
You burst into laughter, eyes following the desperately tied rope and hay poking out of corners. It truly looked like a nightmare, but on the area where a "face" might be was detailed of an eyepatch and angry eyebrows.
"Really?" You yelled across the grass, as Daryl spun to you -shrugging as if he hadn't put any time into making... that.
Ranging closer, you extended your hand toward the character, you'd say for now, "I didn't know you were into arts and crafts!"
"Keep laughin'-" Daryl rolled his eyes, not quite responding to you as he loaded up his arrow -tone solid, but you could tell he was light.
Daryl was something you had to get used to, something you had to learn. He was a bit of an icy mystery to any outsiders, but you knew he cared an awful lot more than anyone claimed to.
"Maybe I will," you quipped, "-we ready?"
"Yea," he stood off the ground, brushing dirt off his pants, "-we're losing daylight, gotta start soon anyway."
He was surprisingly attentive, slowly doing each step at your pace -it was an air the man hadn't exposed to you yet. Kind and gentle. He was a great teacher, to your benefit.
Watching as he seemingly without a flinch, landed an arrow into the... target. Right on the eyepatch, and if you took out a ruler probably in the perfect middle. Why did you take this bet again?
Then the weapon was in your hands, the arrow already in, and just awaiting your next move. Trying to remember the steps, Daryl guided your hands to the right position and pulled back your shoulders -there was a proper posture, but you doubted he used it.
That was when a new voice presented itself, just as Daryl adjusted your grip on the bow, tilting the tip down a touch -assumingly something was wrong in your technique.
"What are y'all doing?"
You knew that drawl. He was always an echo in your brain, words bouncing around in your head -he'd stuck with you in so many different ways.
You spun around -eyes finding him with ease, "Hey, cowboy! I could ask you the same question."
Daryl hadn't said anything yet, his mouth in a stubbornly straight line and that was odd for him. Especially when talking to Rick. But then you looked at him, Judith wasn't in his arms anymore.
His flannel was rolled up his arms, and his eyes laid intently on the hand that Daryl had wrapped around your wrist to push down the bow. It was still connected there, passively, like he was waiting to take the weapon out of your hand. You hadn't minded, it was completely like a guiding hand really, nothing else.
Rick pursed his lips, something set in his jaw, "Right."
You furrowed your brow, quickly gesturing the bow to Daryl -which he with ease accepted. He knew something more than you, you could tell in the way that their eyes flicked to each other, heavy and filled with something you couldn't really read. The air stilled and brushed across your skin like a harsh gust of wind.
"Why? Is everything alright?" you asked, concern turning over in your tone. You'd always assumed the worse -especially as one of the sole medical professionals, you knew you shouldn't have gone so far out-
"What? Oh yes," he seemed to blink, facing you again -all the tension in his face seemed to melt and his hand went to rest on your shoulder, "-nothin' to worry about."
You exhaled, shaking the buzzing under your skin out as much as you could, "Okay, good."
He smiled at you, but it wasn't all there. Something was wrong, you knew it, but it apparently wasn't an emergency? Did he need to talk to you? Was he okay?
"I was just teachin' 'em how to use the bow," Daryl echoed, tone solid and seeming to address something you hadn't noticed -talking directly to Rick, "-nothin' else."
You quirked your brow, genuinely confused by the shift in the energy, "What else would we be doing?"
Rick's eyes flickered to you, where you now stood -kind of puzzled and a bit tense in the newfound energy you found yourself in. He sighed, running his other hand through his hair -you knew that was a sign.
"'Course," he hummed, his voice a little less restrained, but still not quite... Rick, "-it's for that bet you two have, right? Sorry for interrupting, just..."
He looked at Daryl -eyes unbreaking, and intense.
"Curious," he finished, eyes connecting to yours for a few seconds longer than you expected -then flicked back to the ground like he'd been embarrassed...? His hand carefully, hesitantly, drifted off your shoulder.
Before you could even open your mouth, the man cleared his throat and turned back around the way he came.
"Daryl-" you began, turning back to the other man. You weren't sure what that was, but you weren't going to just leave it like that.
"Go," he hummed, unbothered, as he carefully plucked a few arrows off the ground, "-I'm not as stupid as you think."
You rolled your eyes, relaying to comment on that later in the back of your head and trailing after Rick. He was actually pretty quick, despite the unfavorable footwear, but you somehow managed to catch up.
"Rick," you spoke, tone direct and stressed out into the meadow air.
He stopped in his place, a bit stunned it seemed, as he stood still. There was definitely something wrong, you could feel it. In a breath, you wrapped your hand around his wrist, pulling it to you behind him. He still hadn't faced you -facing straight ahead with air to him you'd only seen once or twice in your time knowing him.
"Are you alright?"
Rick didn't respond immediately, stance shock still. You watched as his shoulders huffed out breaths, the smallest rise and fall being the only thing you could focus on. His wrist was warm in your hand, and you felt your fingers rubbing gentle circles into the skin there -in an effort to soothe something you didn't know the root cause of.
His eyes flicked back to you, much softer and something more familiar to you -shining in a haze you couldn't identify, but had experienced yourself. (Merely hours before actually.) They flicked to your hand and then your face, almost in realization that you had made that point of contact.
"Shit, sorry," you pulled your hand back, tone a bit rambly, "-I didn't know if you were comfortable with that, I should've ask-"
"No, no," he echoed, pulling your hand back just to match it with his -intertwining your fingers, "-it's fine, better than fine. I am."
"Oh," you swallowed, watching now as he faced you -his own thumb cradling against the back of your hand that sent your brain into a bit of a fog, "-okay."
Rick grinned the kind that crinkled at his eyes then.
"I-" you began, suddenly remembering what you'd run after him for -blinking the fuzz out of your brain, "-you still didn't answer my question, are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah-" he enunciated, eyes hanging on your hands for a second, "-I'm good, promise."
You raised an eyebrow at him.
"Great, even," he responded, thumb dancing against your skin and your brain almost flatlined again.
"Then," you pursed your lips, "-what was that back there?"
"Nothing," he answered back, a little too quickly for your taste, "-just curious."
"Rick-" you started, before locking onto the way he held your hand. It was the same one that Daryl had been holding just a second earlier, and your mind lit up with the flicking of his eyes to the touch, the set of his jaw, some internal dialogue between the two... oh my god.
He seemed to notice the difference in you, his own eyebrows raising in response to your change in demeanor.
"Cowboy," you hummed, daring only to look at your intertwined hands, "-were you jealous?"
Rick stilled in his place, the thumb frozen in its cycle and the breath caught in his throat. You could practically see the thumping of his heart in his chest, watching as the pink flooded up his neck -he totally was.
"Rick," you added, a little in disbelief.
He hummed, seeming to be unable to speak and his eyes lazily focused on your intertwined fingers. You found it kinda cute, actually.
"Rick," you continued, "-look at me."
He sighed, deep in his chest, the curls at the nape of his neck catching the sunlight just right. He looked pretty like this, like a painting. And finally tilted his face to meet yours -fingers squeezing your hand and thumb rubbing against your skin, his eyes were a bit distant then.
You reached your other hand up to the side of his face, trailing your fingertips along his cheekbone -the cut that you'd once been drawn to now under your fingertips, "There you are."
His breath hitched, as you brushed a few stray curls back behind his ears and let your hand rest against his skin for a few seconds longer. You could feel the heat bubble up there, as you focused your attention there -trailing along the now scab and up along the crinkling near his eyes. You smoothed them out with a few timid presses of your skin to his; it seemed so natural, so familiar.
Rick seemed in a trance almost, eyes dipping down to yours without much thought, like a sort of bliss. You wondered how long it had been since he had his face cradled like this, how long he'd missed the gentle brush of fingertips. Even just for a brush of contact, he seemed unable to speak, the air heavier in between the space than you'd known it to be before.
"Trust me when I say," you hummed, eyes straight into his -unflinchingly, "-you have nothing to worry about."
You noted somewhere deep in your head to do little things more, as you leaned back -pulling back your hand to your side but keeping the other one steady in his. Rick still stayed silent, eyes wistfully watching you fall back into your own space; he'd looked a bit conflicted. So calm and breathing peacefully, all the while his heart seemed to beat 100 miles an hour out of his chest.
Definitely cute, you decided.
"With that out of the way," you cleared your throat like you hadn't just crossed millions of boundaries that you'd established with him, "-I think you have some plans to make. You ruined mine, after all. It's only fair."
He laughed, eyes hooked on your hand in his and it was different then, you could feel it in the buzz of the air, "It's only fair."

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a good 3 weeks in the amazing Los Angelos, it was time to go home. Well, not home, school. Weirdly enough, the seven felt a little bit homesick from being away for so long, but that cleared up when they remembered they were going to have to sit in the van for another 5 agonizing days. FUN!! And no, Leo did not almost fall asleep at the wheel, that was just Hazel's motion sickness getting to her, making her see things if you will.
When they made it back, they all felt like zombies when they were trudging back to their rooms. Safe to say the second they finished unpacking, just like in LA, they all passed out.
The next day, at around 10AM, the boys were sitting on the couch together eating cereal and just talking when Percy's phone went off.
"Yo I just got a text from Annabeth," Percy said with mouthful of cereal. "They're finally getting their fourth girl."
Leo was intrigued by this. Ever since that one night in LA, he hadn't really stopped thinking of Y/N. One thing about Leo, he never had the warmth of a family. When he ran away from his foster homes, all he had was the warmth of a fire every night to keep him going before he got dropped in a new home, one colder than the last. Now he associated the warmth of a fire with a girl, one he met once who had a crazed look in her eye when she saw the lighter go off. Leo had a thing for girls on the weirder end, but he was totally fine with that.
"We should go," Leo suggested. Y/N's voice still rang in his head, 'I gotta go now, maybe I'll see you around. Leo Valdez.' Now this was delusion at its finest, but he didn't care.
"Of course you want to meet the new girl," Jason chuckled as he got up toward the kitchen. Leo gave a half-assed laugh that no one paid mind too. Percy texted Annabeth back saying that they were on their way. Leo had a little pep in his step on his way to the girls floor. When they got there, Percy did a secret little knock on the door and Annabeth opened it, quickly kissing Percy before allowing everyone inside.
"'cough' Corny 'cough'" This earned Leo some chuckles, but was utterly ignored by the lovely couple in front of him.
"Right this way everyone, me and Hazel were just watching a movie. Pipers helping her unpack." Frank and Percy made their way to the couch along their girlfriends while Jason followed Leo toward the empty room. Well, the no longer empty room.
When Leo pushed past the door, he saw a girl leaning forward grabbing stuff from a duffle bag. She had on some low waisted baggy jeans that sat just right by her hip bone, and a crop top that showed off her figure. A beautiful slim waist and hair that flowed down her back. 'Wow.'
She stood up straight, like she sensed Leo eyes lingering and staring at her. When she turned around, a smile quickly flooded her features. "Oh my god, hey there stalker boy." She chuckled as Piper and Jason gave him the weirdest look.
"Hey I'm not a stalker! If anything, you're the stalker. How'd you know where I went to school?" Leo began walking closer and waving his finger around to make his point.
'Well," Y/N poked Leo's forehead, sending his head back ever so slightly. "I didn't. This is the boarding MY PARENTS decided to send me too."
"Can we pause for a second," Piper interjected. "Do you two know each other?"
"Oh of course," Y/N beamed. "Back like 3-4 weeks in LA, I was just minding my business, right? Then suddenly I felt eyes on me, so I turned and saw him staring at me!"
"I had to stare-,"
"Oh you HAD to stare?"
"Well, yeah?? You were literally trying to light a jungle gym on fire??"
"That's dramatic."
"Oh so that's why you came back late with a giant smile," Jason teased. Leo turned and gave him a look like 'bro your selling right now', but Y/N just started giggling and walking closer.
"Aw I had you kicking your feet and grinning," she started pinching his cheeks, swinging his head from side to side. "Be honest did you miss meee??"
Piper and Jason couldn't help but laugh at the situation their friend was in, knowing he probably didn't mind it all that much.
"Miss you?" Leo grabbed her hands off his face. "I hardly know you??"
"Yeah okay," Y/N turned back around to continue to unpack. "Well you can stand there and keep staring, or you could help me unpack." This was a hard decision. Stare at a masterpiece among art, or do work. Leo ended up helping though, not even noticing Piper and Jason excusing themselves.
While Leo continued to help unpack, he made it to one of the last book bags of clothes. When Y/N turned her eyes widened. "Leo don't open that one."
"Hm, what'd you say," she was too late. He already opened it and dumped everything inside in front of it, some landing on his feet. Though, it wasn't really clothes, more so underwear and bras. "That's what you said," Leo said lowly.
"Well um, I got it from here Leo. Thanks for the help," Y/N was a little embarrassed to say the least. How could she not be when the guy she'd been thinking about just dumped her underwear on his feet.
"No yeah you got that," Leo said as he backed away to the door, knocking into the dresser on his way. "I'll be out here," and he stepped out the door.
He left her in the room (where she stood just there for a good minute), as he joined in the rest of his friends in front of the tv. "Hey guys."
"Hey Leo-" Percy cut himself off when he looked down, and started laughing.
"Whats so funny?"
"Look down," Annabeth snickered, making the rest of the people on couch laugh as well. For a fact, the last thing Leo was expecting to see was Y/N's underwear tangled with his ankle, but that's exactly what he saw. The look on the boy's face was seemingly unreadable, but he was definitely embarrassed as he lifted up his foot and pinched the underwear off with his thumb and pointer finger. Now watch this for perfect timing!!
"Um, Leo," as Y/N stepped out the room to ask the awkward question, but she cut herself off. "Oh my god Leo did you just try to steal my underwear??"
Leo started stammering over his words as Y/N started making her way over to him, grabbing the underwear. "Uh NO! Why would I want your underwear??"
"Well, you just had it," she laughed.
"Well not on purpose obviously," Leo crossed his arms. "Like what do you think of me hello??" She started walking back to her room.
"Well, you were already a little stalker," Y/N leaned on the doorframe with the doorknob in her hand. "Now we can add pervert to the list!" She let out a laugh that made Leo think he was in heaven listening to the angels above, then he remembered why she was laughing at him as she shut the door.
He could've sworn his eye twitched. Because obviously she knew he didn't take it, she just found it funny to mess with him. Call it flirting if you will.
"Dude, that's not how you flirt with girls you know," Frank joked from the couch. Now it was their turn to laugh at Leo.
"Yo what is this, 'national pick on Leo day?'"
"The joke wasn't funny when you said it yesterday, and it shockingly isn't any funnier today," Hazel chuckled.
"But seriously, how do you get a girls underwear tangled around your ankle before getting your first kiss," Jason asked, making everyone laugh some more.
"Why does the whole village feel the need to gang up on me right now?"
"To be fair you make it really easy," Piper added. "Do you even talk to girls other than the ones in this room?"
"No and this ones really pretty so can we cut me some slack??"
Y/N stood in her dorm, leaning up against the closed door listening in on the conversation going on in their common area. "This one." She giggled as she listened to them all berate Leo for his lack of skills with girls. As the conversation died down, she spent the next ten minutes or so unpacking before walking back out and joining the others.
When Y/N arrived this morning, the girls quickly made her feel welcome. It was really refreshing compared to most, if not all, the other schools she'd been to.
She walked out and saw everyone laid out on the couch. The only space open was conveniently next to Leo, which was fine considering he had some popcorn with him (bless Piper for convincing the school to let her keep her microwave). When she plopped down next to him, she leaned closer to grab some popcorn and whisper, "what movie are we watching?"
When Leo turned to face the girl next to him, he could've sworn he felt chills go down his back. It was just like that night in LA. "We're watching Fear Street, we planned on watching all three when we came back."
He had popcorn breathe. "Oh fire, I've been wanted to watch these too."
When she saw Leo laid back and comfortable, she took her chance to sit somewhat closer, slipping her arm under his and wrapping it around, leaning her head on his shoulder. His nervous system may have rebooted but that's besides the point.
When the bowl in front of the two was now empty, Leo started to stand, quietly gesturing Y/N to follow him. Leo led her into Piper's room, where the microwave and some snacks were. As he knelt down looking for food, Y/N sat down on the bed and watched Leo.
"So, how ya been?" Leo asked. "Considering you were living on the streets."
"Oh it was so hard, fending for myself in these dangerous streets as a small feeble woman," Leo chuckled. "It wasn't that bad, I was just staying in my car. Me and my beetle against the world."
"Yeah, I get that," Leo sat on the floor while the microwave started to spin. "I lived in my van a lot, I even named it festus."
"A van? Like scooby doo type shit? Cause that'd be pretty sick."
"THANK YOU! Finally someone understands me."
"I'm a pretty open minded person." The microwave peeped.
"Popcorns ready."
"How is there even a microwave in here you," Y/N asked.
"Pipers pretty persuasive I suppose." Leo sat down with the bowl of popcorn just eating it. He patted the spot on the floor next to him gesturing the girl in front of him to sit. She slid over and started eating the popcorn.
"You know, I'm kinda hungry for some actual food." She turned over to Leo. "Is there somewhere here to get some food?"
"Cafeteria's open?" She smiled and pulled the bowl of popcorn off of Leo's lap before grabbing his wrist and pulling him up and out the door. Y/N was snickering as she pulled Leo out of her dorm into the hallway before stopping and turning to him.
"I don't know where to go, still new here."
"Well naturally," he rolled his eyes and laughed. "Follow me, m'lady."
She didn't realize how hungry she was for some real food till she caught a whiff of some Mac n cheese and chicken tenders. Popcorn was cool and all, but this was much better.
"You don't have an ID yet right," Y/N nodded. "I'll treat you then."
She smiled as she followed him to the food, "Such a gentleman. Is this an apology for stealing my underwear?"
People gave weird looks before going back to what they were doing. "Dude you can't just say that," Leo rubbed his temples.
"I mean, it's true," She shrugged and started filling her plate with some gorgeous Mac n cheese and chicken tenders. When she finished Leo paid for both their meals and they sat at a table across from each other. "God this shits good."
"You sound starved.."
"To be fair I was saving my money for gas while I was out. Shits expensive so not as many full course meals as you'd think."
"Well, while your here I could make up for that, treat you some more like the gentleman I am."
"Aw, are you flirting with me?"
"Why is it working?" Leo joked (He wasn't joking).
"Woah, big talk from a guy who hasn't had his first kiss," she laughed but Leo just dropped his forked and stared straight at the girl in front of him.
"When did you-"
"Thin walls you know," she winked.
"It's not funny."
"Maybe just a little."
"I've kissed millions of girls!" Leo retorted.
"Really? Name one."
"A gentleman doesn't kiss and tell," Leo winked and Y/N just rolled her eyes.
"Ya know if you were honest it could've been a millions and 1." He looked straight at you. "Just kidding!"
"Is your biggest joy in life just making fun of me?"
"Maybe.. yes." She said as she took the last bite of her food. The two stood up and went to throw away their empty plates. They made their way back to the girls dorm. When Y/N opened the door she saw everyone about a fourth of the way through the third fear street movie. "We're back."
"Where'd you guys go," Piper asked.
"To eat, I was hungry," Y/n smiled as she plopped down in the same seat she sat in before, shortly followed by Leo. They both slid into the same positions as earlier, with their arms intertwined as they laid their heads on each other, but this time, it weirdly felt more comfortable. This was gonna be a fun year!!!

I'm sorry for this, it's not good. But somehow, I managed to get something done, so I gotta share. Kinda inspired by NCIS S21E08 'Heartless'.
Warnings: age gap, married couple, established relationship, talks of miscarriage, giving birth, jealousy, womanizer!Alden, daddy!Alden, very slight smut
Mine ~ Alden Parker
When you started to date Alden Parker, as he was still an FBI agent, you never considered becoming friends with his coworkers. Especially, after meeting a few of them he would consider his friends and they turned out to be judgmental towards the age gap in your relationship. Not that you wanted to befriend his coworkers anyways, you just agreed to meet them cause he asked.
However, it changed when Alden joined NCIS. He immediately started to tell you about his new team, and you could he was fond of them all, including his boss - which was extremely surprising since he never got along with his FBI boss, Sweeney. You quickly knew it would be different this time. It did take him a while before introducing you to them, but once it happened, you all hit it off. The guys were quite impressed with Alden wedlocking a woman fairly younger than him, while the girls, even though they wouldn't go for someone older, they agreed that Alden Parker had a little something. "It's the freaking hair!" Jess joked.
Before you knew it, this new team felt like family. You'd all hang out together - dinners, games night - and sometimes you'd have girls night with Jess and Kasie. You even babysit McGee's twins and/or Victoria a few times. Which, as much as you loved it, did hurt a little since it would remind you of the struggles you and Alden had been having to have a baby. Between not getting pregnant for months and the miscarriages, you had started to think that it wouldn't happen the natural way for you. Also, Alden really felt like he was getting too old to have a kid, no matter how badly he wanted one with you.
When you reached your third trimester, Alden felt pretty confident that this time everything was going to be alright while you couldn't shut that little voice in your head saying that something bad would happen like the other times. But finally, the nurse put your crying new born in your arms, and everything felt right. "You did so good, my love." Alden cried, kissing your forehead and looking down at his son. "Our miracle baby. He's perfect."
You didn't want the nurse to take him away from you but you knew they needed to check him up and clean him. "Do you guys have a name for this little guy?" Another nurse asked. You and Alden looked at each other for a second. "Axel Roman Parker." He said, proudly.
Obviously, the team was in the waiting room. Alden had been at work when you called him to tell him that your water broke. Nick had been the one driving to the hospital, "Torres, I'd like to meet my son before I die, thank you very much!" Alden shouted, holding onto the handle above the window.
"Don't worry, dad." Nick grinned.
Your husband went to see them to let them know that mom and baby boy were alright. "Is it okay if you guys only meet him in a few days?"
"Of course, no rush!"
"Send us pictures though! Please?"
Alden didn't want to go back to work after his paternity leave. He didn't want to leave his little family. The night before his first day back, he actually felt depressed. "He's changing so much so fast, I'm gonna miss so much." He sadly said, stroking his son's back, who was peaceful sleeping on daddy's chest.
"I'll take as many pics and videos I can." You kissed your husband's cheek. "And Vance said you don't have to put many hours like you usually do."
"I know, but still."
You noticed the tears forming in his eyes and it broke your heart a little. You didn't want him to go back to work either. You wish he could push his leave a little more, but he had pushed it as much as possible already - director Vance had been amazing and made it easy. You wrapped your arm around Alden's neck, carefully so you wouldn't wake up Axel. He nuzzled your neck as you gently stroked his hair. "He loves you and perfectly knows who daddy is. It won't change in a few hours, I promise."
"I honestly thought it would never happen for me, you know? Before you and then the issues we had, I thought-- I just wasn't meant to be a dad. But now he's here, and I just don't want to be away from him."
"Aw, baby." You cried with him. "I wish there was a way for you to stay."
The next day, Alden arrived late at work as he struggled to let go of Axel. Jimmy and Tim, who knew how it felt, were very helpful throughout the following week.
It took you months to separate from Axel, just for a few hours. And even more time to go out for a girls night while Alden had a boys night with his little man.
"I almost forgot how champagne tasted." You smiled, having your first drink in over a year.
"Good thing we took a whole bottle then!"
The conversation between you, Jess, Kasie and Delilah went on as it usually does when you four get together. Jess talked about her relationship with Jimmy, and her dad. Kasie confessed about her new crush - you and the girls immediately hyped her. Delilah talked about her job, and the twins newest obsessions. And you obviously talked about Axel and your husband.
"By the way, how's Alden's neck?" Jess asked.
"Perfect! Did Nick really fix him with a bear hug?"
"He did! It was pretty funny!" Jess laughed, remembering the scene from a couple of days ago. "Doctor Logan probably thought we were crazy."
"I can't believe that my husband im-so-scared-of-needles-hold-me-hand worked on a heart surgery." You laughed, trying to imagine the scene.
"Mr I fainted when my wife got her epidural." Kasie teased.
"In his defense, it's a pretty big needle for this." Delilah said. "Thank god he didn't faint during the surgery though." She joked.
"Well, if he did, I'm sure Doctor Logan would've enjoyed giving him mouth to mouth."
You, Kasie and Delilah turned like one person to look at Jessica. "What?" She asked, confused. Then she looked at you. "He didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"Um..."
"Jessica Knight."
"The doc clearly developed a crush on him. She practically flirted with him in front of me."
You let out a deep breath. "Did he flirt back?"
"Not really, he was genuinely confused."
"Did he not learn his lesson with the senator?" Kasie chimed in.
You finished your drink in one swallow, remembering when he gave you a piece of paper with a number on it. "Whose number is it?"
"A senator." He had said.
"Alright and what am I supposed to do with it?"
"You, nothing. But I guess she wanted me to call when she gave it to me." The jerk was smiling while you used to candle flame to burn the paper.
"I don't care about the 'it's safer for you if people don't know I'm married' crap, I'm gonna glue the wedding band to his damn finger."
The girls laughed, always enjoying how easily you get jealous when there's a woman around Alden. When you had learned that some women in the office kinda liked your man, you showed up at the NCIS headquarters for the first time and asked for a tour. When his ex wife got involved in a case, you were feeling anxious, even though she knew about you from the beginning, thanks to Alden's parents. The worst actually was when he saw his first love for the first time in over thirty years. He had admitted that it felt very strange, and maybe if he had been single, he'd have pursued something, but he was married to you, and deeply in love with you and he'd be crazy to let you go. It was one of those rare moments when you and Alden were struggling, and fought a little more often. But he never gave you a reason to be jealous or suspicious, it was just a part of your personality. And to be fair, he was such a womanizer, you couldn't help but to think that any other woman would be better than you.
You got home slightly drunk, which Alden expected. He was happy that you finally let yourself have some fun away from him and Axel. Barely sleeping on the couch, he immediately got up when he heard you come in. "Hey! What are you doing up? Is Axel awake?" You asked, struggling to take your shoes off. Alden kneeled down to help you.
"He did wake up an hour ago for his bottle but he's fast asleep now."
"Good, good." You leaned a little and ran your hand through his hair. "I'm so so so so happy you're my baby daddy."
Chuckling softly, he got back up and wrapped his arms around your waist. "Thank you for choosing me. You made all my dreams come true." You hugged there for a moment, just enjoying each other. "Let's go to bed, baby mama." He started to carry you, grabbing the baby monitor on the way.
"No sleeping, gimme another baby." He laughed but quickly got cut off as you smashed your mouth on his. He managed to get to the bedroom while you practically assaulting him, holding his face firmly and french kissing him. Of course his body was responding positively. As he put you down on the bed, you dragged him along. He was on top of you and you started to make out. It was long until you felt his erected cock between your legs. You reached for it, forcing your hands under his shorts. "Fuck, baby." He moaned.
"Yes, fuck me daddy."
And he did just that. ~
After freshening up in the bathroom, Alden found you in the nursery, looking over Axel. He hugged you from behind. "Do you really want another?" He asked, cautiously.
"Not necessarily," you admitted. "I mean, if it happens, I'll be very happy but I can't go through the struggles again."
"Okay. We've got him and he's absolutely perfect." You stroked your son's hair one more time before turning around to face your husband.
"He really is." You grabbed his left hand and stared at it for a moment. "This wedding band stays on, Alden. 24/7."
"But--"
"No but. I'm done with women flirting with you cause they assume you're single. You're taken, you're fucking mine. You keep the damn ring on."
Alden stayed silent for a moment. "Jess told you about Doctor Logan, didn't she?" You only looked at him, arms crossed. "Fine, I won't take off my ring ever again." He reached for your wrists and made you uncrossed your arms as he hated when you strike that pose on purpose. He brought you as close as possible to him. "Are you ever going to accept the fact that you're the love of my life? That I rather be single for the rest of my life than with someone else than you? That losing you and now Axel, would absolutely destroy me?"
All you could do was kiss him, but he did saw the tears falling down your cheeks.

guard!reader x garroth slow dancing privately after being on duty during a festival AHH
Tumblr media
A Private Celebration | Garroth Ro'Meave ~☆
Word count : 1,113
Trigger warnings : none!
Not proofread!
AN : THIS WAS SO AIAISKZIZENSN I loved writing this omg yall. I'm sorry if garroth seems ooc 😭 I tried as hard as I could! Also no pronouns or gendered terms are used!
It was such a shame you couldn't be a part of the local festival…it looked so fun too! Seeing everyone dance and laugh with each other. The sun set behind the distant mountains and the fairy lights that hung throughout Phoenix drop had a soft glow. Distant sounds of music, laughing, and talking could be heard all throughout the city. It must've been fun.
You were standing on the balcony of the guard tower, eyes dazed as you felt a small burn of jealousy in your stomach, “if you'd like I don't mind you going and joining them.” A low voice hummed from behind you. Almost immediately you stood up straight and looked back at who you knew was garroth. You knew that voice. You knew his voice, you and garroth had been…flirting? For around a few months, you didn't know what you both were, and you were afraid to ask in fear of it stopping. Once you faced him you shrugged, “I'm okay! I'm a guard after all, it's my job to protect the people while they have their fun” you assured. even with his helmet on you could feel garroths eyes on you, studying you.
He walked slowly next to you and looked off the balcony, “they sure are having fun” he stated, you could hear the smile forming on his lips. “Are you sure you don't wish to join them? I'd hate to keep you from the fun” he repeated his previous question, this caused you to giggle and shake your head at him, “I'm alright, thank you, why don't you go down there? Maybe you could go dance with someone” You asked him as you turned around and leaned your back on the railing of the balcony. Garroth seemed to stiffen at this question, “ahem…no I'm not much good at dancing” he turned his head away from you, seemingly avoiding the question. “Anyway I'll be going to check the parameter once again.” Garroth turned on his heel and began walking inside again, disappearing fully once the door closed.
Suddenly you felt guilty, did you strike a nerve? Maybe you overstepped? Letting out a heavy sigh you looked up at the pink and orange sky of the evening, then gazing down at the streets of Phoenix Drop.
It had been a few hours since you had last seen Garroth, most of the townspeople had gone back home for the night, only soft sounds of the trees shaking in the wind registered in your mind. even as it was late your mind had yet to grow tired. It was only when you heard the guards tower door open that you turned your head and walked inside, heavy steps made their way upstairs and soon enough you were met with him, suddenly you felt a wave of embarrassment splash over you, your face felt red…why were you embarrassed?
“You're still here?” Garroth's voice sounded a lot more tired than before. “I just- I uh wanted to apologize for before, if I just assumed you knew how to dance”
You apologized with a small smile. You took a deep breath, beginning another apology immediately after “it wasn't appropriate for me to bring any of that up while on duty either-” before you could continue you heard a soft chuckle from under garroths helmet,
“No need to apologize, it was simply small talk, if anything I should apologize. I kinda lied when I said I didn't know how to dance” he admitted softly, you couldn't help but laugh, “why? Afraid I'd ask to dance with you?” You teased as you continued to laugh, garroth slowly joined in with his own laugh, “I mean I never said that, i actually wouldn't mind dancing with you” he whispered. You leaned closer to hear but failed, “huh?” you questioned before garroth took a deep breath, “I actually wanted To ask if you'd like to dance with me” he muttered.
You were taken aback at what he had said and looked around, “right now? There's no music or anything” you stammered before garroth slowly moved his hands up to his helmet and slid it up and off his head, his baby blue eyes met with yours, He smiled softly, “who needs music?” He questioned before he set his helmet on a table next to him.
You stood there stunned, THE garroth took off his helmet and showed you what he looked like- yeah he looked handsome and all, but as far as you were concerned he hadn't shown his face to almost anyone. “garroth?” you stammered and before you could continue garroth huffed with an assured look in his eyes, “I trust you.” He pushed his hair back and held his hand out to you, “now because we didn't get the chance to enjoy the festival and celebrate, why not at least share a dance to celebrate in our own way?” He asked. Your heart skipped a beat as you took his hand, allowing him to pull you close and resting his other hand on your side.
Slowly you both swayed quietly, it felt odd at first slow dancing in the guards tower to no music, but slowly you grew used to it. Your eyes glued to garroths, his gaze was soft and loving, he stared at you like you were the last person on earth. “you've been staring since I took off my helmet, something on my face?” he teased as he slowly led you into a small spin, then bringing you back to him. “I'm alright, just looking at how handsome you are” you answered.
That didn't seem like enough for garroth as he tilted his head at you, as if he was trying to read you. “Truly! I just…didn't think I'd be dancing with you tonight is all” you explained.
The Dance went on for a while, neither you or garroth muttering a word, both of you opting to just look at eachother. It was only when Garroth slowly moved to dipped you, and when you looked up at him with those eyes. His hand grazed your cheek, he seemed to want to say something. but within a moment you were stood up straight again. It was only then that you reached your hand up to his cheek, it was his turn to go red. He seemed to pull it together and slowly stopped swaying and moved both his hands up and cupping your cheeks, leaning forward calmly, his eyes slowly closing, “may I?” He whispered, his breath tickling your lips. “Yes” you agreed as you closed your eyes as well, leaning forward and meeting his lips with your own. His Lips were soft, warm.

Me and my sister watched Hellsing together. Here's her opinion on the characters
- Alucard: "He's a cunt, but he's entertaining. I'd probably pay to see him in a strip club. I didn't like him and his shit-eating grin and 'master' bullshit at first, but he grew on me quick and i don't like that he grew on me. He's a complex character, and he's hot asf when he cries. Also I wish we'd seen his Dracula form for longer; that was awesome. Him and Anderson had a thing going on."
- Seras: "Didn't really mind her at first, but liked her after she drank blood. Her transformation and the guns are really fucking cool. I didn't like her voice and her whining at first but it got better after a few episodes. I like her when her personality became a little bit more spunky. Her story's fucked up."
- Integra: "Absolute bad bitch. Her attitude reminds me of myself so idk if I should like it or hate it, she's got a lot of pride which I respect. Really human and I like it, she takes no one's shit and she's a badass. Didn't even FLINCH when she got her eye shot out. Girlboss. She gives me ace vibes also."
- Walter: "I liked him, he was funny. And then he betrayed everyone and became emo. He gave good advice, and he was cool as hell with that wise older veteran vibe. I'm disappointed in him, but the plot twist was actually good. You'd notice the signs if you suspected him from the beginning."
- Pip: "He's FINE. I'd braid his hair any day. I was in love and then I mourned. I'm widowed. He was hilarious, plus his voice actor nailed the French. My favorite character. Screeched when he came back. He's a good leader and I loved his speeches, also his death made me cry. And I don't often cry when watching anime."
- Anderson: "kinda neutral. I didn't like him at first, he was obnoxious as fuck. Then he respected women and opposed Maxwell and his orders so he grew in my esteem a bit. His character is cool as fuck tho. I wish he didn't turn into a monster, he fell to the same level as Alucard. It's like human greed or desperation for power. Him and Alucard had a thing going on."
- Enrico Maxwell: "Lucius Malfoy. I hate him but not the one I hate most."
- Heinkel & Yumie: "Really like these two lesbians. So cool and I respect their resolve, especially Heinkel's. Rip Yumi. You were cool. Heinkel being intersex is a dope detail, she's very androgynous too. I like their designs."
- The major: "Augustus Gloop? I like the fact he refused vampirism, that was cool, but he's an actual fucking sociopath and I hate him"
- The Captain: "Ngl, I actually find him quite dope, aside from the nazi thing. Literally no one respected him, that shit had me crying. His face is pretty and his tits are big, even if he looks a bit goofy at times. Wish we'd seen more of him. I felt kinda bad when he got defeated."
- Schrödinger: "I want this thing dead"
- Rip van winkle: "She gives me the vibes of a Dr Seuss character."
- Zorin: "Bleach Ichigo knockoff. Fuck this bitch in particular I hate her"
- The Valentine brothers: "A slav squat necrophile and his gay brother that used to be a runway model but got cancelled after a scandal"
Overall: A hit, neither of us expected her to like it. She likes the political and literary aspects, and also finds the characters interesting. She doesn't really know how to feel about the ending; she considers it realistic and a good end, but she wished it was more epic. But from a writing perspective it's good. Also she lowkey wished Alucard would turn Integra into a vampire, just because it would be cool. Now we send each other memes about it. She calls Nendocard a whore when she passes by him, but says she'd buy a Pip nendo in a heartbeat

Steve walked into the Munson trailer one day to find Eddie in the kitchen singing, lightly headbanging along to the accompanying instrumental that was playing in his head while he washed the dishes. This was not unusual. What was unusual was that Eddie was not singing in English.
Steve shut the trailer door slowly and quietly so as not to catch Eddie's attention, and slowly moved forward while listening to Eddie sing. He didn't want to interrupt yet.
A couple of minutes passed before Eddie turned and noticed Steve. He jumped, letting out a small yelp, which made Steve chuckle.
"Jesus, Harrington! How long have you been there?"
"A couple minutes."
"And you didn't think of saying anything?"
"I was trying to figure out what language you were singing in."
"Oh." Eddie grabbed a tea towel to wipe his hands on. "It was Danish."
"You speak Danish?" Steve asked in disbelief. Eddie nodded casually.
"Yeah, my mom was Danish." He shrugged. He dropped the towel and sauntered over to Steve, draping his arms over his shoulders before pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "Did I never tell you that?"
"No, you never told me that. You're Danish?"
"Yeah." Eddie laughed. "I know I don't really look it. You know, dark hair and dark eyes aren't really the expected viking features. Unfortunately I look more like my dad. But my hair was lighter when I was a kid."
"You speak Danish?" Steve's brain was still catching up with all this new information.
"En lille smule." Eddie grinned. "Min mor talte dansk tilt mig."¹
"I don't know what you said but that was really hot." Steve muttered. Eddie laughed. "So what was that song you were singing?"
"Me and my cousin in Denmark write letters to each other. He sent me a tape with some music he thought I'd like and one of the songs got stuck in my head."
"Will you teach me some Danish?"
"Selvfølgelig!"² Eddie's face lit up. "Nobody's ever cared that I was Danish before. A lot of people literally didn't even know that Denmark is a country."
"I think it's really cool. I wish my mom had taught me Italian, I only know the things my nonna always said, which is mostly swears and insults."
"Hey, that's useful stuff. That means you can shit talk people without them knowing what you said."
"Yeah but it would be nice to have a functioning knowledge of the language too." Steve shrugged.
"Det er ikke så fantastisk."³ Eddie said with a shake of his head, though his lips were quirked up in a smile. "There isn't really much point when nobody else understands."
"Except that being bilingual is hot." Steve smiled.
"Er det rigtigt?"⁴ Eddie exclaimed amusedly, grinning again. He leaned in to press another kiss to Steve's lips, longer and more tender. He pulled back and rested his forehead against Steve's, letting out a tiny contented sigh. "Jeg elsker dig."⁵
------------
I just came back from visiting family in Denmark and I had the idea of Scandinavian Eddie so here's a teensy tiny ficlet. I was gonna make him Norwegian because Norway is more known for their metal music than Denmark, but I don't speak Norwegian so I felt uncomfortable writing any Nowegian sentences. I don't really speak Danish either but I could at least kinda know what I was writing, and I kept it pretty simple so almost all of it is stuff I know anyway. 💕
Translations:
¹"A little bit." "My mum spoke Danish to me."
²"Of course!"
³"It's not that great."
⁴"Is that right?"
⁵"I love you."

So I saw that you were doing requests for Avatar and thought I'd give it a shot, can you do Aonung x f!reader x Neteyam headcanons ( it could be gn reader, your choice )
A/n: Tysm for the request! I made the reader female but I don't talk about pronouns so anyone could read this. This headcanon goes with the movie but kinda doesn't at the same time.
Neteyam x Metkayina f!reader x Aonung
Before Neteyam and his family came to the Metkayina Clan there's always something between you guys.
The first time you guys met you both hated each other.
You didn't know if it was the air but when you were younger you thought he was funny looking.
He always tried to annoy you whether it be sneaking up on you, doing competition's on who can swim the fastest or etc. It was annoying.
But you guys still found a way to be together even if you guys couldn't stand each other.
Though now you can't seem to keep your eyes off him.
And the same for him.
Sometimes you both catch each other staring or meeting each other's eyes.
But you guys never address you're feelings until Neteyam showed up.
Ever since the Sully's came Aonung has been down right jealous.
When Ronal was checking out Kiri's hands Neteyam couldn't help but stare at you.
All he saw was beauty.
But ofc Aonung caught him staring and glared at him.
You. Seeing him in the corner of your eye tap his arm in want for him to stop.
When you see Neteyam you can't help but feel curious.
Fast forward to some days later you've become fond of Neteyam and his family.
You thought Tuk was adorable and loved how she always wanted to make sand castles with you.
Neteyam saw this and was glad his little sister was happy but did wish that he was Tuk the moment he saw you guys.
During the process of his siblings and him learning the ways Metkayina there were sometimes when he would try his best to catch your attention and succeeded.
Aonung made fun of him a lot with his friends which was something you didn't tolerate.
You would smack him on the back of his head and say "He's trying his best shut up" or "Leave him alone".
After that fight with Lo'ak, Neteyam ,Kiri, and his friends you guys all started to see each other in a different way.
Yes, after you heard about the fight from Kiri you couldn't help but scold him.
But things started to tone down and both the boys calmed down.
There was still some bickering between the two but that got shut down immediately because of you.
Fast forward again to when the three of you are together(I'm tired sorry😭😭)
Though you couldn't help but fangirl over the both of them.
You loved how they both had different ways of perceiving life.
All of you agreed on keeping things private and not telling anyone.
Well besides Tsireya which took her sometime because that's her brother of course.
But after thinking about it and her on going relationship with Lo'ak she was now on board.
•••••••••
Sorry if the grammar is bad I'll try fixing it later bc girl it's 4am. If there is anything you would like me to change please tell me 😭.

why do you ship neuvifuri? /g this ship is just lost on me because i didn’t read any of their interactions as romantic — i just wanna understand why it’s such a popular ship 😭😭😭
Hii okay so I don't usually like 'defending' my otp but because you seem to genuinely want to know I'll answer. But I'm also curious if you ship anyone in Fontaine because none of them had any romantic interactions. Least of all Neuvillette. But anyway, the following are my own opinions and I can't say if everyone else sees them the same way.
I put off doing Fontaine questline for months, because I had lost interest in Genshin so I missed all fandom reactions etc, I don't know how popular whatever ships are. When I finally played it, I was neutral about things until the final archon quest. When that Focalors cutscene happened with Neuvillette, my eyes kinda opened. I shipped them first before Neuvifuri. His openly shocked/upset/devastated reactions to her were something new, since he hardly emoted before and we hadn't really seen his feelings. And the way he talked about Furina to Focalors, with so much concern and care for her because she's only human with such a huge burden. So then I went on my other account and replayed the whole questline to record it for gifs, because I'd fallen in love with Furina and her story.
They ruled Fontaine together for 400 years. Furina called Neuvillette to serve as the Iudex (though it was Focalors' idea), and Furina taught him to love humanity and open himself up to people. He's like her familiar the way Dvalin is Venti's and Yae Miko is Ei's. Whether it's platonic or romantic, they're each other's most important person and they love and care for each other. In the AQ, Neuvillette becomes increasingly frustrated with Furina because she isn't letting him in and is being secretive. Yet he keeps closing his eyes (literally, in some cases) to Furina's pain, like he's done for hundreds of years.
Neuvillette is enchanted by Furina's performances on stage, and wanted her to return there in Furina's story quest, and said his appreciation of her was always genuine and he wishes she knew that. Even in his voice line about her he says if she were to return to the stage, he would attend the performance and give her his heartfelt applause.
He gave her a special vision, possibly the first vision since he gained his full powers. If you look closer, it has dragon claws on it.
In the AQ, Furina fooling the heavenly principles wouldn't have worked without Neuvillette. He forgave the people of Fontaine and together they prevented the prophecy. Even though it was all Focalor's plan, and Furina did the hardest part, if Furina hadn't made Neuvillette care for the people it wouldn't have worked.
Immediately after the AQ when Furina had to leave Palais Mermonia, he got her a new apartment, and he said he will provide her with food, clothing, travel, whatever she wants. Meanwhile Furina's voice lines say it's been a while since she went to the Palais and that she thinks it's better for the both of them. Ouch. She's even avoiding him in Liyue.
There's insane angst and potential for a tragic ship. Furina lied to him for centuries, and now thinks it's better if they don't meet. She was incredibly lonely yet she couldn't confide in him, her closest friend. She's now mortal as well, whereas Neuvillette is a dragon. So she can actually get hurt, and die.
Plus they're beautiful together. They have matching color schemes, height difference, they have amazing synergy in combat. Their in-game abilities complement each other. Like they were made for each other.

Have you seen that tiktok where someone's boyfriend asked for lunch and the showed it off to his coworkers/friends so proudly?? Kinda like an unboxing video lmao
( https://www.tiktok.com/@barstoolsports/video/7136210152868351274?lang=en )
I was hoping you could write a scenario where Mark ask if you could bring him lunch and he gets so happy he shows it off to everyone, doesn't even want to eat since he wants to keep showing it off:) I love your writing and hope you have a good year ❣️
hi! omg i'm so sorry this took so long 🥲 i hope you're still around to see this & let me know what you think 🥲🤍 oh, and i wish you a wonderful year 💕 i've never come across the vid, but I watched it before writing this! thanks so much for the reference 🤍 it was really cute 🥹
a/n: slightly proofread (my brain's not really in perfect condition to review everthing sorry)
Tumblr media
It was already way past lunch time, and the guys of 127 have yet to eat something after breakfast—especially Mark, who probably felt the hungriest out of everyone (alongside Haechan, since they chose to sleep some more and skipped breakfast that morning).
Although you have reminded Mark time and time again to never skip his meals and to eat on time as much as he could, you couldn't really blame him for choosing sleep over food though. You understood how hectic his schedules have been lately, and there's not much you could really do about it.
You knew how much of an actual foodie Mark was. He was the type of boyfriend to send you links to new restaurants for your next date, or send you recipes to whatever delicious food he ate overseas and asks you to cook them for him. So to know that he hasn't been eating properly lately got you worried. He must be extremely exhausted to prioritize sleep more.
And that's how you ended up visiting their company with a lunch box for him in your hands that day.
You walked your way to the front desk and greeted the receptionists warmly. Being Mark's girlfriend wasn't an enough reason for the company to give you access to his workplace whenever you wanted, that's why whenever you had to give him something whenever he's at work, it's either you give it to him prior or one of their managers will come to get it for him.
"Hi, I'd like to leave this for NCT's Mark." you said as you placed a paper bag on the marble desk. The receptionists smiled awkwardly before looking at each other with hesitance in their eyes.
"We're so sorry, ma'am, as we are not allowed to keep gifts or anything at all for the artists." one of them said, and you nodded in understanding.
"Oh, no, it's alright. I understand. One sec," you said before taking the paper bag off the desk and getting your phone. You smiled quickly at them and took a mental note of the questioning looks on their faces as you dialled a number. Of course, you couldn't just straight up tell them you're actually Mark Lee's girlfriend.
"Oppa~ how are you?" you greeted on the other line. "I'm glad to hear that. I'm doing just fine. Actually, I have a small favor to ask..."
You glanced back at the receptionists and gave them a shy smile before placing your attention back to the call.
"I'm really sorry. I know you're probably busy right now, but I'm actually down here at the front desk with Mark's food." you said quietly. As soon as the call ended, you turned around to face them again and gave them another smile, to which they smiled (rather unsurely) in return.
You looked around and found an empty seat around the corner and made your way there. You took out your phone again and looked at your lockscreen. It was already lunch time, but knowing how their practices go, they were probably still too far from taking a break. But that didn't stop you from smiling widely at your phone.
Your lockscreen was of Mark in a green shirt with a guitar. It was when he had called you in the middle of the night to sing you a lullaby when you texted him that you were too stressed out to have a good night's sleep. You guys weren't even dating yet back then, but it was one of the countless times he showed you just how much he really loves you.
Not long after, you heard footsteps coming nearer to where you were seated, and looked up to see their manager greeting you with a smile.
"Hey," he said as he opened up his arms for a hug. You smiled back and stood up to return his hug. "Mark would have been really glad to see you."
It was no secret that you have gotten along really well with their managers. They were like the reliable and wise brothers you never had, aside from the other NCT members. And Mark was thankful for all of that.
After exchanging conversations and saying thank you, you went on your way. You took out your phone and sent Mark a text, letting him know that you have dropped by and that their manager picked it up for him. With a smile, you went back home, excited to receive a reply from your boyfriend.
"Excuse me, sir? Who was she?" one of the receptionists asked as the manager walked pass by them to the elevator. He stopped in his tracks and gave them a small (but polite) smile.
"Her? She's Mark's girlfriend. Better remember her face for next time." he quickly said before proceeding to the elevator, chuckling to himself at the surprised looks of the receptionists' faces.
Their manager quietly went back in to the practice room with Mark's lunch on his hands, and placed it on an empty table. His arrival went unnoticed by the members as they were too focused on monitoring their dance in the laptop.
"I just hope the food won't get too cold..." he sighed quietly as he looked at the guys who have now walked back to their formations and started practicing again.
"Hyung, can we eat after this? I'm starting to feel dizzy," Jungwoo told their dance teacher as he held onto his stomach and patted it gently, indicating that he was getting really hungry. The other guys mumbled to themselves in agreement.
Their dance teacher nodded and asked for the boys to do one more round of practice before letting them go for a break, telling them to resume practice in 2 hours.
As soon as the music ended, all of the guys let out a sigh of relief, including their manager, who couldn't wait to let Mark know that you have dropped by with his lunch.
"I'm gonna order some Chinese food. What do you guys want?" Taeyong asked as he went to his bag and took out his phone. The other guys, except Mark, have told him what they wanted to eat. Taeyong looked at him, waiting for his choice of food.
Mark just finished wiping his sweat off with his towel and hung it around his neck.
"Oh, me? I don't know... I think I'm just gonna skip lunch today." he said quietly. The guys looked at him in worry. They all knew he hasn't eaten anything the entire day. Yuta was about to protest when their manager walked towards them, holding a medium-sized paper bag.
"I'm afraid a certain Mark Lee's not skipping lunch today." their manager said as he held out the bag in front of Mark, and placed it in his hands. Mark just stared blankly at the bag, not really sure why it was handed to him. Their manager chuckled lightly and gave him a light pat on his shoulder.
"A beautiful lady dropped by a few minutes ago to give this to you." their manager said before giving him a knowing smile. Mark's eyes widened in realization and grinned widely. The other guys have started hollering and teasing him, with Taeyong saying something along the lines of, 'baby Mark's so loved'.
"Thanks so much, hyung." he said. Mark was still smiling to himself when he realized you might have tried giving him a call or sent a text message. He quickly went over to where his bag was and took out his phone, chuckling quietly to himself as he saw your name in his notifications. He bit his lips, smiling, as he read your text message.
'Hey, cutie. I hope your day's going well ♡ I made you lunch and dropped by the company earlier. Your hyung-nim came down to meet me. Anyway, eat well, okay? Stop skipping meals or else >:('
Mark sat down the floor and placed the paper bag beside him as he typed in a reply, completely ignoring the teasing remarks of the other guys (to which they eventually just let him be and continued on with their food hunt using Taeyong's phone).
'Hiiiiii :) we're having our break atm :)' he replied before sending in a couple more follow-up texts.
'I wish I could have seen u today :( but thank u for dropping by :') and for my lunch :')'
Mark opened his camera app, held the paper bag close to his face, and took a selfie. He went back to the messaging app and sent you the picture.
'I'm sooo so so super-duper lucky to have u :((( i love u so much ♡'
'but what do u mean by or else?'
"This is just one of those days I wish I had a girlfriend, too." Doyoung mumbled to himself quietly as he looked at Mark's happily-in-love face. Unfortunately for him, Johnny heard him clearly and started teasing him.
"I can help you create a Tinder account, you know." Johnny said, raising his eyebrows teasingly. Doyoung just frowned at him in response before playfully punching his arm.
"Melkkk~ we're gonna order some dessert. Want anything?" Haechan called. Mark turned his head to face the other guys who were crowded around Taeyong, and shook his head no.
"What are you having for lunch?" Jaehyun asked as he laid down on the floor.
"Oh, right. I haven't opened it yet." Mark chuckled to himself. He found a small box at the top, a bento box below, some disposable utensils, and a small vacuum flask on the side. He took out the contents and carefully placed them on the floor.
The guys quickly gathered to where Mark was, feeling intrigued by what he's having for lunch. They all knew how good of a cook you were, and they were excited to know what was on the menu today.
"Start with the small box, hurry!" Haechan said rather impatiently.
"Just let him be." Doyoung reprimanded lightly, although he was just as curious as Haechan was.
Mark opened the bento box and gasped loudly, with the others gasping along after seeing what you have prepared.
"OMG! It's so cuuute!" Jungwoo exclaimed as the others smiled in agreement.
"Dude, if I were you, I wouldn't dare destroy this masterpiece." Johnny commented. Mark just smiled even wider, feeling his heart full of love. He grabbed his phone from his pocket and took a picture of the food. He was about to send you the picture when you sent in a reply.
'excuse me? I'm the one who's lucky to have you >:*'
'and i love you too, but if you don't finish your lunch, no sexy time for you, Mr. Lee >:('
The guys whipped their heads when they heard Mark giggling to himself as he was typing away on his phone.
"Okay, I don't want to feel extra single today, so I'm gonna go away." Haechan said jokingly after looking over at Mark's phone and reading your reply. He stood up and made his way to the couch as the other guys followed suit, (im)patiently waiting for their orders to arrive, completely leaving Mark in his own world.
'oh no :(( i can't live without our sexy time :'( i gotta make sure no grain's gonna be left uneaten then' Mark replied, still smiling and giggling to himself. He placed his phone on his thigh as he took the small small box and carefully opened it.
Mark let out another gasp as he covered his mouth with his hands. The guys craned their necks from the couch in curiosity.
In the box was a small cake with a watermelon design on it. Small hearts were also drawn around it.
"Awww~ guys, look! Look! It's a watermelon cake!" Mark proudly showed off to the other guys, to which they grinned at how cute it was.
Mark took a picture of the cake and sent it to you, also asking you if you were the one who made it as he knew that you were also quite skilled in baking.
'yaaasss :'> u like it?' you replied.
Mark couldn't help another smile to form on his lips. He couldn't count how many times he has smiled in less than 30 minutes. All because of you.
'awww how perfect could u get :'( told u i'm super duper lucky to have u :'( thanks so much, my love ♡♡♡'
Mark took the spoon was just about to start digging on his lunch when he stopped to admire it again. For the nth time that day, he let out another smile. He set the spoon aside and grabbed his phone again to send you another text.
'babe, i'm sorry, but i can't bring myself to eat this :'(' he replied before sending you a picture he previously took of the food.
'look at this. who in their right mind would eat this pretty little thing, really :( i should have this framed or something'
Mark stared at his lunch as he waited for your reply, still admiring the food you had prepared for him. His lunch actually consisted of some of his favorite dishes, including the kimchi jjigae that was in the flask (which he has yet to open, by the way). You knew much he loves it.
Meanwhile, the other boys just quietly looked at Mark, feeling the overflowing love you both had for each other.
"If it was any other day and I didn't know why he's being like that right now, I would say he's gone crazy." Haechan said quietly but just enough for the other guys to hear him.
"Well, we can't really blame him for being crazily in love with his girlfriend. I mean, I would too if she was my girl, to be honest." Taeil commented, a soft smile forming on his lips as he looked at Mark's still-smiling face. The others just nodded in agreement.
Mark quicky picked up his phone when it vibrated, signalling a reply from you. He opened the text message and chuckled softly at your reply.
'just eat it. i'll make you a prettier one next time, don't worry :*'
'don't text me until you're done eating >:( with proof!'
Mark typed in an 'okay' with a lot of heart emojis before putting down his phone again and looking at his food. He grabbed the flask, opened it, and giggled in delight at what he saw.
"Guys," he called as the tried to show them the contents of the flask, and the other members looked at him in wonder.
"It's kimchi jjigae, my favorite!!!" he shouted while his members just laughed heartily at his excitement. They were happy to see Mark so happy.
Mark was about to put the paper bag away when he saw a small folded paper left inside. He wondered what it was and took it out. It was a letter you wrote for him, and Mark smiled softly as he read the message.
"To my one and only love, Mark. I wish you nothing but good health above anything else. Even though we couldn't possibly be together all the time, I hope you know you're always on my mind :) words just cannot express how much I love you, my cutie little watermelon boy ♡"
Mark placed your letter on his left chest, feeling so grateful to experience this kind of genuine love from you, his first-ever girlfriend, and also hopefully his endgame. He has made it his personal mission to make sure he's gonna spend the rest of his life with you.
Haechan let out an exasperated sigh and abruptly stood up from his seat, both hands on his hips. The guys whipped their heads to him, clearly puzzled, including Mark, who was still holding your letter close to his heart.
"Hyung, do you want us to feed you or something? Coz your food's getting cold. Like, seriously. I'm concerned."
- end.

Tumblr media
⋆。°✩ 12-juliet's found a new romeo
a/n: this takes place a week after chapter 11, after school hours
Tumblr media
"1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3."
Eula was counting out the beats as you tried to keep up. She was put in charge of choreography for the production. Albeit, she only had one scene to work with. That might have been for the best though, because a simple waltz scene felt like military training with her in charge.
She didn't hesitate to yell or shout. Several freshmen in the ensemble ran out of the room crying because of Eula. No wonder everyone hates her, you thought, but you kept to yourself. There was no way you were risking her wrath.
Lyney was your dance partner. His right hand rested on your waist, while his left was intertwined with your own. He was keeping up with Eula's instructions. You on the other hand, were doing the exact opposite.
You had stepped on his feet more times than you could count. Which resulted in numerous bruises, not to mention how you were completely off beat.
Eula opened her mouth, preparing to scold you for the hundredth time. You winced in anticipation.
"Everyone take five!"
Furina called out. Then she beckoned for Eula to talk to her. Eula set some papers down and muttered something about how incompetent everyone was before making her way to Furina. She gave you a glare, clearly indicating that you should still practice, thankfully Chiori had grabbed her attention before Eula could say anything else.
You and the ensemble took a collective sigh of relief together. Everyone went on a water break together. You and Lyney let go of each other and made your way to sit on the edge of the stage.
"Sorry about that Lyney." you muttered. "You're gonna be the death of me, (Y/N)." he said, chuckling. You playfully punched his shoulder, as he feigned pain.
"Oh, how you wound me!" he exclaimed pressing the back of his hand to his forehead for dramatic effect. You rolled your eyes as you took a sip out of your water bottle. "Yet you love me regardless."
"That was my first mistake." he replied, which earned him another punch from you. You caught him glancing at your hand, before you could ask him why, he grabbed your wrist. "You're still wearing that ring? Aren't you afraid of losing something so expensive?" he asked.
You pulled your hand away, fidgeting with the piece of jewelry that Xingqiu gave you. "Honestly, I'd feel kinda bad if I didn't wear it." you muttered as you watched Xingqiu laugh with his friend about something.
You smiled watching them fool around together. Part of you was kinda jealous.
I wish I could make you laugh like that
"Archons, you're down so bad." Lyney teased, smirking as you turned red. "Shut up." you whispered swatting his shoulder. You went back to observing the crew + some of the volunteers.
Xingqiu and his friend were transporting some boxes over to the stage. You subconsciously fixed your hair and smoothed out your clothes as he neared you and Lyney.
Xingqiu waved and you returned the gesture. "You do know you can just talk to him right?" you heard Lyney ask. You were about to do just that, but Eula had returned from her meeting with Furina and Chiori.
"Places!" she snapped her fingers as everyone scrambled into their positions, but your mind was preoccupied with other thoughts.
I wish I could just talk to him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hours later, you still couldn't grasp the routine. Sure, you had gotten better, but not to the point where Lyney's feet didn't suffer anymore. But there was always tomorrow, rehearsal would be over soon anyway.
Eula rubbed her temples as she glanced at her phone, checking the time. "That's a wrap everyone! Thank you for coming." you heard Furina announce as she started packing up.
Fischl and Lyney started gathering their things. "You guys can leave without me, I just need to sort out some things." you told them. Fischl looked at you, then at Xingqiu, she mouthed an "Oh" before dragging Lyney away and whispering something to him.
You waved goodbye before approaching Xingqiu who had just done the same for his friend.
"Hey."
"Hi."
The two of you had exchanged a proper greeting for the first time today, it had been a while since the two of you got some one-on-one time alone. "Did you need something?" he asked.
No, I just want to spend time with you, I don't care what we do, I just want you
Is what you would've said, but that would've been to forward. The two of you stood in silence for a few seconds, though it felt like an eternity. You had to think of an excuse so he would stay.
"You wouldn't happen to know how to dance would you?"
Xingqiu looked surprised, then he took your hand and led you to the stage.
"As a matter of fact, I do."
He led you up the steps, his stand still intertwined with yours. The two of you made your way to the center of the stage. His right hand rested on your waist, and his left still held your hand.
He pulled you closer, your chests pressing against one another, you hoped he didn't feel your wild heartbeat. "Um, this is okay with you, right?" he asked, due to your close proximity you could see his cheeks dusted with pink..
You nodded, attempting to maintain eye contact with him.
"Just follow my lead then." he told you.
You counted the beats in your head, but you soon found out that you didn't need to. With Xingqiu, it just came naturally.
You found yourself focusing more on him rather than the actual routine. You noticed how pretty his resting face was, and the golden sheen in his eyes.
Your faces were getting close, dangerously close. You could feel his breath against your lips. The two of you continued dancing, you swayed along with him.
Your foreheads were resting against each other, and the two of you continued to hold eye contact.
"Xingqiu..."
He was leaning in, whether this was something he wanted, or this was just him being in the moment, was something you couldn't determine. You weren't even sure whether you wanted it either.
"Excuse me!"
You heard a voice yell, it was Furina. "Sorry to interrupt but some people are renting the auditorium so you guys need to get out now." she explained before leaving again.
You pulled away from Xingqiu, and he heard him mutter an apology as his face flushed. You went to pick up your bag that rested by the stage.
"I'll see you tommorow, yeah?"
He nodded going to get his things from the seats in the front row.
As you walked towards the exit you felt your stomach doing somersaults. You recalled your thoughts from earlier.
I just want you
You put your hand on your cheek as you felt your face heat up. You turned around to watch Xingqiu pack up his things.
Archons, I'm down bad

You were on his mind all day. Not a single minute went by without thinking of you. He was obsessed, secretly of course. He couldn't dare share his true feelings towards you, he couldn't risk it. Losing you and your 'friendship'. 'Sorry Steven, I don't see you that way' was the reoccurring thought going through his mind at night. All he looked forward to was for you to show up.
"Hey Steven, how's it going?" Your voice rang in his ears as he looked over to you walking towards his desk. "How's the gift shop treating you?" He smiled."It's seen better day's." You chuckled and turned your head to him fully. He heard the room go quite as he focused on your facial features. Your eyes, your nose, your skin beaming from the huge light above you. He could stare for hours. His thoughts were interrupted by you waving in front of his face. "Hey, you heard me? I asked if you'd like to hang at my place tonight, we could watch a movie" You were better at hiding your feelings from him, obviously. Steven almost melted when he finally processed your question. "O-oh, yeah I'd love to." "Great! I'll see you then" His heart eyes lingered on your back as you walked away, trying to stop himself from looking below your back. The way your jeans hugged your lower half drove him crazy. He'd wished to be in their place many of times, to be so close to you at all times. He quickly snapped out of it when you left. Now to wait for tonight.
Finally off of work, Steven rushes to his place to freshen up. His work clothes were a bit messy, he couldn't let you see him like this. Quickly, he put on a casual outfit that still made him look decently attractive. He made his way to your house in a hurry, excited to see you but hoping he wasn't late. He knocked on the door slightly and focused on the doorknob. You opened the door, looking at Stevens messy hair. He didn't care about his hair, he was able to see you again, this time in a short top and some flowy shorts. "Steven, come on in I've got evey thing ready" You welcomed him in watching his eyes scan you, then the room. Your mind's been running wild as well. You desperately wanted to run your fingers through his curls, lightly tugging them. You looked over at Steven who was standing awkwardly next to the couch, clearly scared to mess something up. You mustered up the courage to grab his hand and pull him next to you on the couch. You've never actually touched his hand so you never noticed how soft they were. His face was slowly turning red, along with his hands. "Steven... I know I invited you here to watch a movie but there's something else" He almost couldn't sit up on his own hearing that sentence. Was it something he did? He said? Something he didn't do or say? "I.. For the longest time I've always had a crush on you. We've known each other for a while now and I thought today now that we're alone would be a good time to say..." Stevens eyes darted to your lips as you uttered a phrase. "I love you" .
Luckily you saw right through him and quickly kissed him, savoring the bit of leftover peach chapstick he had from earlier. He pulled away slowly, catching his breath. "...I've wanted to do that for so long, you have no clue." He quickly kissed you again, but with more hunger. He nibbled on your bottom lip a bit, not enough to hurt you. His hands traveled to your back, pulling you closer to him and straddling him. You finally got your wish and tugged his messy curls, making him look up at you. He moaned quietly, struggling to keep eye contact with you. He's always wanted to be dominated by you in hopes of awakening some new interests in him. You kissed down his neck, sucking on certain spots to make dark marks. Steven shut his eyes lightly and let out a small whimper in pleasure. Must have found the spot. You leaned your body into him further, slowly grinding on his lap. "I-i've never felt this way before." He stuttered a bit, still feeling your lips on his skin. "I could help you out, I've got some experience" You got off his lap as his eyes followed you. You undid his belt, jeans button and zipper, but kept his pants up. You stared at Steven as you slowly rubbed his buldge, his eyebrows raising in surprise. You kissed him again, making him focus on your lips instead of your hands. You starting to grip at his pants slowly, making him bite your lip. "I need a favor from you, Steven" He looked up at you with his pathetic doe eyes, willing to do anything you asked. "Try not to make any noise, I think I heard the neighbors come in." He nodded, still staring at you. You were lying, no one was home. You just wanted to see how long he'd last trying to keep quiet. You continued rubbing and gripping his buldge watching his eyes try and track your hands. His chest rose up and down quickly, clearly needy. You realized your hand wasn't doing enough so you got back on top of him and began grinding on his lap. "O-oh gosh" you smirked, knowing you'd get this reaction from the poor man. You shifted your weight towards his hips, making him whimper.Steven has thought about you this way and he was ashamed, but now that he has you to please him, even just for today, he's the happiest man in the world. You felt him twitch under you, as he gripped the couch cushions. "A little longer, ok baby?" You praised him up and down the wall, driving him crazy. "You're doing so good for me, just be patient,ok?"Stevens muffled whimpers and whines echoed through the room. You loved seeing him like this, Steven hated to admit it but he did as well. "Love, I-i'm gonna-oh gosh-please.." He gripped your waist tightly, burying his face in your neck. "Are you gonna cum in your pants, love? It's ok just hold on a little longer, ok?" You ran your fingers through is messy curls, lightly tugging at them. You earned a low moan from Steven, his lower half driving him insane. "Please let me cum, please I love you so much...." Hearing him beg so desperately almost made you cum yourself, but you were too focused on letting him finish."I'll let you cum, but I want to hear you loud and clear" His eyes widened, remembering what his one rule was. "But what about the neighbors, I don't want them to know what we're doing..mainly me" you kissed his neck lightly. "I'll leave you just like this if I don't hear you, I know you can do it".You snaked your hand in his shirt, feeling the soft abs that were hidden under the shirt. Steven threw his his head back, beginning to feel the peak of his high. "Can I please cum I'll be as loud as you want, please darling oh my gosh." You nodded, pulling his head up to hear him better. He thanked you, letting out loud, high pitched moans. If he were any louder, you could probably hear him down the halls. You felt his cum leak through his jeans and onto your shorts. You would've licked it up but poor baby's had enough for one night.
Steven draped his hands over your shoulder, finally able to pull himself together. "Oh bollocks, um, sorry it's so much I didn't know-" You looked down at the cum still dripping from the zipper of his pants. You lightly smiled and looked at a bright red, clearly embarrassed Steven. "It's alright, love. Nothing a bit of cleaning can't fix." You kissed him lovingly, cherishing every part of him. "So,would you be willing to go on a proper date some time? One where we aren't on my living room couch." You smiled, waiting for Steven to answer your question. He was still kind of out of breath but tried his best to answer.
"I would love to.. "

hi! i'd love to see a continuation of the isekai spies au or the curt joins chimera au. love your work!! ❤️ 💜 💙
I will gladly give you a continuation of the spies isekai, that was a Lot of fun! Sorry this took such a long time to get out, btw, but in the meantime I was asked this:
Tumblr media
So I'm going to cater for both, if that's alright!
Tumblr media
The time travel idea stuck fast in Curt's mind. It sounded ridiculous on all fronts, but it was the only Hong that made sense. It seemed like they were in the wrong place, though they didn't seem to stand out any.
The real question was how they'd done it. How they'd managed to go from having it out for each other in the middle of the weapons museum, to being here, where it was apparently fine to be ambiguously flirting with the men at the bar.
For now, the idea of how they'd gotten there wasn't the most important point of the moment. He was drinking with the second man to ever try and pick him up, and all things considered, he was having a pretty good time.
For all intents and purposes, Ted was great. Curt just wished that this wasn't a one time thing— that maybe, he'd have another chance to be himself and to be a little free before he and Owen had to find a way back to where they'd come from.
"Does this not, I dunno, bother you at all?" He asked, leaning against the bar and ordering another round.
"What?"
"This. Seeing someone once, talking like this, and then never seeing em again?" It had never bothered him before, but his dealings were strictly professional and never meant anything.
Ted raised an eyebrow. "You think I'd have asked you out if I didn't think you'd be a one off? You're not the first, man, and I'm pretty sure you won't be the last..."
Curt frowned, his brow creasing as he took a sip of his drink. Ted noticed his expression and shot him an amused glance. "What? That bother you?"
"More than it does you, apparently... It just feels— weird..."
"Oh, you're the type who ain't shy for commitment... You with someone?"
Curt hesitated. In the most literal sense of the word, he was with someone. He'd arrived with Owen, and he was still here. But in that specific sense that Ted was asking about, he wasn't with Owen anymore. Hadn't been for years...
"No, but I was..."
"How long?"
"Five and a half years... Something like that."
"Jeez, not bad..." if he had to guess, he'd have said Ted genuinely looked impressed. He'd leaned forwards a little, and his eyes had went wide. "Special type?"
"Yeah, for ages he was the only one." And it was both dangerous and a comfort to remember Owen as he used to be. All those late nights on the floors of cheap motel rooms, all the uttered words they'd only ever whisper to each other... That was sacred. "But, y'know, those things aren't meant to last."
Ted held his glass out in toast to that. "Hear that, pal. What was his name?"
"Owen."
"Ehh, fuck Owen." Ted had uttered that so confidently that Curt almost choked on the drink he was taking. He laughed, taken completely off guard, and even Ted chuckled. "No, I'm serious! You want commitment outta life, I'm sure you won't have any trouble in finding someone, nice guy like yourself."
"... Thanks," Curt smiled as he felt his face heat up, ready to blame it on the heat of the room. "What about you?"
Ted huffed a breath of laughter. "Yeah, that kinda life's not on the cards for me. Got myself a bit of a reputation, y'know?"
The conversation spanned for a while. Curt really started to let himself go, but kept himself in that balance of opening up and revealing more than necessary, out of a force of habit. Eventually, he and Ted parted ways— Curt was implicitly told that it should feel amazing to walk off a conversation with a guy's personal phone number— and he immediately found Owen again. After all, there was a lot to catch up on. Owen was a familiar face in a sea of strangers, and he'd been the one to propose that they stay by each others' sides.
Needless to say, Owen didn't look impressed when Curt found him. It wasn't like he'd caught any of the conversation, but it had been one hell of one, and that desperation was not a facade that was easy to keep hold of. Trying to act like he was upset about Curt supposedly "standing him up" was way too beyond him.
He had finished Curt's pint too. Frankly, he needed it. And Curt didn't look too offended, so it was no more than terrible American beer under the bridge. The two of them left the bar after, not a word between them until they were a good distance from the premises. Then he turned to look at Curt, half curious and half bitter. "So, how was he?"
Part of him genuinely wanted to know what that kinda of freedom felt like. What it was like to get that close in a room full of people who didn't think twice. The other part of him had seen past all that and just hoped that leaving him hanging for all that time was worth it.
Curt's eyebrows quirked. "Ted? He was great. Real nice guy. Why? That bother you or something?" He shoved his hand in his pocket, feeling the coaster on which Ted had written his number. Quite the unorthodox method, he had to admit, by quite charming all the same.
"Bother me? What do you think I am, twelve years old?"
"Jealous that I could pull before you?"
Yes. Partially. Those words would never leave him, but he thought it nonetheless. "Sod off, my god, you're a child."
Curt smirked. "Anyway, since that's clearly getting to you, I— uh, got what you wanted."
"What, you found out where we are?"
"Yeah. We're on some island in lake Michigan. Hatchetfield." He felt himself absently crease the corner of the coaster, and removed his hand from his pocket quickly.
Owen hummed. "We weren't in the states when we started this, we were in the middle of fucking Europe. How the hell did this happen?"
"That's the part I don't know. Y'see, I think we're gonna have to check the date, too."
"Why's that?"
"Ted called my Bel Air "vintage"."
"Hold on, what?" Owen stopped in his tracks and thought that over. "But you've had that thing from new, and that was only a few years ago..." His eyes went wide. "Oh lord, we have to find a newspaper."
Luckily, that wasn't a hard thing to acquire. Owen dipped into one corner store, and came out with a newspaper folded under his arm. He and Curt opened it together, and his eyes immediately landed on the topmost header.
"Oh my god..."
Judging by that reaction, Curt had seen it too. They exchanged a glance, letting their shock speak for itself, and then glanced back at the paper to make sure they were seeing the same thing.
"Owen, am I reading that right?"
"I think you are, Curt. I.... Think you are." 1962 was no more. Owen had to put his jealousy aside for a moment, because he realised that things were truer than he thought when he said Curt was the only person he had as a cornerstone.
The two of them would have to put their differences aside too, even for a little while, because the truth of the matter was plain. Curt's car was vintage. Men must be allowed to get with other men. Constant economical changes meant it was probably normal for beer to be that price.
The date was June 7th, 2019.
The two of them were stranded in the States, some near sixty years from the time they knew.
