I’m still deciding if the ease at which Persephone defeats Kronos is very badass or very anti-climatic.

So I just read episode 275 and I’m sort of confused?
(I took screenshots, but the ask won’t let me include them so) At the end of the episode Hera summons these little balls of light(?) , maybe small stars(?) and then she casts them down onto Kronos.
I feel like that was really anticlimactic and not illustrated well. Along with the viewer not seeing Hera fight Kronos, a God that’s been tormenting her, her last attack(?) doesn’t feel right — like, there’s no power behind, if anything, I’d compare it to what a healers animation in a game looks like.
Rachel even emphasizes how strong and brilliant Hera is with Persephone, but then doesn’t show us anything. I know the scene was split between Hera and Hades dealing with Kronos physically and mentally (asleep), but it was sort of disappointing.
What I think really sucks about the setup for the Hera vs. Kronos fight is that, as cool of a concept as it is to have Hera and Hades both fighting Kronos in separate timelines, it fails on multiple levels:
1.) All the build up of Hera saying "I was created to destroy you" winds up meaning nothing because it cuts away to Hades for the entire fight
2.) When it does cut back to Hera, she's just kinda... sitting on Kronos? Like what did she do besides just breaking one of his fingers? Why weren't we allowed to see that? I think this is more so clearly Rachel's inability to write/draw fight scenes showing through, so she relied entirely on the Hades' sequence which was less physical fighting and more just Hades monologuing before turning Kronos into a diamond.
3.) And speaking of the diamond thing... so we're just expected to believe Hades could turn not just people, but Titans into diamonds? This whole time? How is he just suddenly able to do this? It feels like a shonen anime where the main character has a flashback to a scene from 3 seconds ago (in this case, Hades' conversation with Melinoe) and then unlocks a new special ability through it, but it somehow feels even less earned than it does in anime (and trust me, I can't stand that anime trope at the best of times LOL) Like at least in something like Naruto it's like... okay we have this ability Naruto's been trying to master and we've seen him work at it for a few episodes so seeing him finally nail it on the brink of defeat is like, really hype and fun. But Hades just turns Kronos into a rock out of nowhere when we had zero reason or build-up to believe that would ever be possible. Why not, IDK, have Morpheus finally master her ability to dream dive and use that to trap Kronos in an eternal sleep? At least that would have had some pre-existing foundation especially with how much of S3 was focused on the dream diving shit. IDK, the whole thing's really contrived and silly and relies a lot on the reader just going "okay! yeah that makes sense!"
4.) So Hades turned timey-wimey Kronos into a diamond... but then it cuts back to present Kronos who's just been somehow defeated by Hera through ✨magic✨ and that's just it? What about present Kronos? Is he just still trapped in Tartarus now? Why isn't he also a diamond if Hades turned some past form of Kronos into a diamond? Or was the goal just to free Melinoe so present Kronos couldn't keep using her powers? But who's to say Kronos can't just do what he did again by reaching through time to grab Melinoe and start the whole thing over again? Especially now that Melinoe doesn't remember what happened and would be none the wiser that Kronos has attempted this before? Is it because this is present Kronos whose time abilities were 'exhausted' to him 'long ago'? Then how was he able to pull Hades into the time-bowl to begin with? Again, just like the diamond thing, this entire conflict relies a lot on readers just shrugging and accepting it because there's zero foundation for the concepts that are being portrayed and thus zero logic besides "just go with it".
I can go on and on about it but at the end of the day LO just isn't a comic that should have attempted having any big Marvel fight scenes. This is an issue in a lot of romance comics that have gone on too long, they start to lose the plot around their third season and then just throw everything out the window for some other big plot that makes no sense within the context of the story. Somehow LO, a Greek myth fantasy adaption, made fighting the God of Time seem out of place and boring.
God I can't wait for Hades 2.

So many FEELZ in this week's Lore Olympus!
Tumblr media
As we've known for a while, Kronos is holding Melinoe captive for his purposes. He says that if she helps him, then she can go home.
But let's be honest with ourselves here--- can we really believe he would keep that promise?
Tumblr media
Melinoe explains what she knows of her abilities.
"Magic of the mind" definitely plays into her powers in the original Greek mythology. In the Orphic Hymns, she was the goddess of nightmares and madness.
She goes on to regale that she mostly used her powers to help with the shades. Unfortunately, under Kronos' orders, she's forced to use them to mentally harm others. Using the insecurities of others against them upsets her.
Love seeing Hecate in an educative auntie kind of role!
Tumblr media
"I've only just met you, and I love you."
This is heartbreaking. Even if Kronos wasn't physically hurting Melinoe, he was still crushing her mentally and emotionally. It's the same kind of torture Hades endured while devoured, and that's ON TOP OF the physical abuse.
Tumblr media
This moment is ESPECIALLY important!
Hades is putting his heart and soul into telling Melinoe that Kronos' horrible deeds are not her burden to bear. She should NEVER fault herself for things beyond her control, including what Kronos makes her do.
In the same breath, Hades realizes that these are the words that HE needed to hear himself. Even though he looks much like Kronos, he is NOT Kronos. He is VERY against using Persephone's fertility goddess powers, even on accident. Hades is VERY determined NOT to be his father.
Tumblr media
Melinoe asks if Hades wants to see "Nana," and in the next moment, Rhea appears. Much like Melinoe, Rhea was pulled from her place in the past.
Her and Hades have a tearful reunion. Hades voices his worries about abusing Persephone's powers, and Rhea reassures him that love will prevent him from destroying her.
"And Father loved you too..."
It's a crucial point to raise. Yes, there was love between Kronos and Rhea, but Kronos ultimately loved power more, and it made him dangerous.
As Kronos approaches, Rhea reminds him of the importance of REAL love and fades away.
Tumblr media
This is it.....looks like it's down to Hera and Hades vs Kronos.
Persephone and Dionysos have been returned to the Mortal Realm.
Will Melinoe be able to help from the sidelines? Where is Morpheus?
Anyway, thanks for coming to my LO post!

Being the younger sister of Persephone and having a rivalry with Hades
alternate title: Y/n vs Hades
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Hades had battled Apollo, Kronos and Demeter to be with Persephone. They are nothing compared to Y/n, Persephone's younger sister.
Warnings: Mentions of Hades being abused by his father, loneliness, miscommunication, anxiety over abandonment
Pairings:
Hades x Persephone
Hades & Persephone x reader (platonic)
"She is so sweet." Persephone said. "You'll love her lots!" She had said. Well, Hades, as much as he loved Persephone, felt she did not have the measure of her little sister. Y/n was the second daughter of Demeter, bring only fifteen. She had been created in much the same way as Persephone. Except something unexpected had taken place. Because Demeter conceived her daughter in the dead of winter her younger daughter was born with the pinch of frost on her breath. At first Demeter tried to suppress the winter. But when she realized this was a part of her daughter, Demeter came to terms with it. When winter came Y/n was carried away by the winter spirits accompanied by her mother. On paper it looked like the two might get along, cold, a penchant for gloominess and a love of the dark.
Oh how wrong Persephone had been. Oh she had been oh so wrong. It was a bright sunny way when Persephone paid a visit to her mother. Hades dreaded seeing Demeter but so long as Persephone was there everyone should behave (hopefully). The only reason he actually wanted to see was Y/n, the ever allusive sister. He'd seen pictures of her in Persephone's wallet and on her desk. She seemed sweet enough. They drove up to earth as Persephone was speaking with her sister. "Of course we'll stay a while." He could hear a faint buzzing as Y/n responded. His knuckles tightened over the steering wheel as they went over rough ground. Persephone gasped and told her sister they would be there soon before hanging up. "She's very excited!" Persephone was practically vibrating. Although Hade's was not very close with his brothers he got why she was so excited. A blue present sat on Persephone's lap. She had spent forever wrapping in and topping it with a bow, her usual meticulousness. "Do you think she'll like it?" Persephone examined the box. She was her own worst critic, a habit Hades had tried to break Persephone out of. He picked and her hand and placed a kiss on it. "She will love it."
Tumblr media
"Percy!" A fifteen year old girl burst out of the house, racing towards her sister. Persephone was nearly bowled over as Y/n nearly ran her over. She was a young thing, wearing an over large polo shirt and ripped jeans. Persephone cooed over her little sister as if she were still a baby. Y/n's eyes were not like Persephone's, Y/n's had a cool tone to them. Hades remembered she was the Goddess of the frost and wondered how the two of them got along. "Y/n, met Hades!" Gone was the jubilant laughter on Y/n's face, replaced by a frown. Nervously Hades waved. "Oh don't be shy, say hi!" You gave a small "hi" while looking at dirty bare feet. Demeter suddenly stuck her head out of the door and called everyone in. Immediately Y/n kissed her sister on the cheek and raced inside. Hades trudged solemnly behind his wife. Noticing this, Persephone held his hand. "Don't mind it. She's probably just being a teenager." Persephone consoled. Feeling slightly better Hades smiled down at his wife. "What would I do without you."
Tumblr media
Demeter was surprisingly civil. Or maybe he only felt that way because nothing could beat the little icicle like glares coming from Y/n. And Hades had the rather unsettling feeling that this was not just teenage angst. She was perfectly sweet to her mother and sister, just not him. "So Y/n, how is school?" Hades was just looking for anything that might disway Y/n from turning him into an ice statue. "Its fine." Mumbled Y/n. After everything with Persephone Demeter had finally relented and allowed Y/n to attend a public school. There was one on Olympus, in which Y/n simply took a portal from their house to school. "Met any cute boys?" At Persephone's question Y/n gagged. Demeter held the look of one having just swallowed a lemon. Hades laughed and for whatever reason Y/n shot him a dirty look. He felt a familiar squirming sensation in his gut. For years he had pretended not to care when others sent him unkind glances. The truth was that he did, very much. It had gotten better. He had Persephone and the most amazing friends. But this was Persephone's sister. His sister-in-law.
Tumblr media
That night Hades lay awake in bed. They had stayed over at Demeter's place. He could hear his wife finishing up her nighttime routine. He struggled with a decision. Should he tell her? This was Persephone's sister after all. They had only just reunited after Demeter and himself became cordial. Did he want to be responsible for a falling out? The other option was not to tell, and risk breaking Persephone's trust. When married they had sworn to be truthful to one another. They had come so far.
Persephone, bleary eyed and exhausted, slipped beneath the covers of their bed. Hades struggled with the right words. He felt her snuggle up against him. He smelt the vanilla soap she liked to use. Today Persephone's hair hung to her waist, flowing out like a pink stream of silk. Hades ran his fingers through her hair. "I think your sister dislikes me." It was best to be blunt in this situation. No beating around the bush this time. "What happened?" He was grateful she did not shut him down. For so long people had disregarded his feelings. It felt nice to be listened to. "I don't know if I did something to upset her. And it wasn't like she said something awful. Its just I feel an negative energy towards me. I'm not accusing her of anything malicious. I just want to know how we can deal with this." After listening intently Persephone propped herself on his chest. Worry crossed her face and Hades felt guilty.
"The last few months have been hard on her. You know my mother forbade me to see her for a while. Maybe its been hard on her." A shadow cast itself over her beautiful face. She seemed to suddenly be hurled into thought. Hades waited patiently for her to continue. "She's a teenager. Perhaps Y/n does not know how to react. You know for those ten years it was just the two of us. I mean we had the nymphs. But I think Y/n sees me as her mother in a way. And know I have left her." Persephone laid down her head on his chest. Her breathing had picked up its pace. "I should not have left so quickly." Persephone breathed out. Hades said nothing, only stroking her back. He knew their marriage and moving in together had been quick. Although it was not as if Persephone up and left Y/n, maybe it had been too sudden. Hades cursed himself for lack of tact. She was simply a child and it was only now he understood. "I will speak with her tomorrow." Was the last thing she said.
Tumblr media
Hades did not attend attend Persephone's conversation with Y/n. They did not want it to seem like they were attacking her. That morning Hades took a solitary walk through the field. Wheat was over eight feet high so that even Hades could walk unseen. Looking down at his hands he notice the very tips a dark glittering blue. They would be heading back tomorrow. He missed earth. Even after two thousand years he remembered the early years, before he became the Underworlds caretaker. At some point he heard voices but paid them no head. Probably just some nymphs about. Only the closer he got the more familiar they became. Too late he realized who they were. Persephone, it seemed, had a similar idea in mind. The two sisters spoke and Hades was a deer in headlights. If they saw him things would be awkward. Anyways, it was too late to double back as they would hear him. The two of them walked and Hades waited. Unfortunately this was the point where they chose to stop.
"You know our house is open to you any time." Persephone held one of her sisters hands. "If mom lets me." There was a bitter edge to her voice. "She will, we have spoken." Y/n made a "hmph" noise. Y/n's face was finally in view and there was a scowl on it. "Can you send me your schedule so I know when to visit?" Persephone's face lit up. "Of course!" Y/n relaxed slightly and then the next words came out. "Just for some one on one time." The statement itself was innocent. But something about it made Hades feel uneasy. Persephone, it seemed, had caught it too. For a moment her eyes cast themselves down. Y/n seemed to be scrutinizing her elder sister. Very uncomfortable, Hades dearly wished to flee. Wait, he could! Hades had been so anxious and wrapped up in the conversation that it had not occurred. In a flash Hades became a butterfly. No larger than the palm of Persephone's pink hand.
He flew away, not hearing Persephone's response.
Tumblr media
Once the stress had worn off a new worry came to Hades. He lay on their shared bed as worry enveloped him. Persephone had always defended him. And admittedly he had not stayed to hear the rest. But Y/n was not some stranger or even her mother. Hades had never been particularly close to his brother. Well, Poseidon and himself had once shared a close bond. Only millennia's now separated the days they once spend under trees, bound together by pain.
Persephone and Y/n were close, very much so. This was different than the bond between mother and daughter. Y/n was not some angry daughter determined to keep her daughter. This was a little girl whom Persephone had treated as one would a daughter. Hades groaned in despair. And here he had thought Demeter was the issue.
Tumblr media
Dinner was a quiet affair. Words were exchanged between Persephone and Demeter. Hades and Y/n ate in silence. Every so often he felt her glance, would look up, and she looked away. The food tasted bland on his tongue. Y/n was the first to leave, stating she was tired. Hades looked over to see it was only 7:45 pm. Looking back, he noticed a pallid complexion had settled over her. Y/n slopped out of the room. Demeter, through mother instinct, caught on as well. "Y/n are you alright?" Y/n did not turn but gave a quiet "I'm fine". The three adults watched Y/n leave. Demeter made to get up. "I better go check on her." Persephone placed a hand on Demeter's. "It is better to leave her alone." "Do you know something?" He saw that look in Demeter's eyes. The goddess was loathed to be ignorant of her children whether other had knowledge. Persephone's shoulders slumped with the air of one about to deliver bad news.
"Y/n and I had a slight disagreement." Demeter tensed. "About what?" Persephone shifted. "She misses me. Mom, could I have Y/n over some weekend? I think introducing her to my friends would do her good." Hades knew what Persephone was leaving out. It was not Y/n's relationship with her friends Persephone was concerned about. It was best Demeter was not aware of this. Although the relationship between Hades and Demeter had improved there was no telling what the Goddess might do if she found out. She might either berate Y/n, or turn of Hades. Neither was a good option. Normally Hades would think it prudent to inform the parent. And part of him still thought so. Though it came to mind that this was Demeter. Who, while she did her best, might make things harder.
Hades looked at Persephone, trying to catch her eyes. It worked. They quickly finished dinner and after cleaning up went to bed. They locked the door and listened to Demeter walk away to her office. "Are you sure Y/n is in her room?" "Probably." Persephone took a seat on the chair. Hades sat on the bed, elbows on knees. "How did the conversation go?" "Could have gone better." Persephone groaned as she leaned back. Her hair had grown longer and little pink flowers started popping out. Hades decided to tell her. "I overheard some of it. Not on purpose but it seems I chose a bad day to walk in your mother's wheat field." Persephone walked over to the vanity and took a knife. It was delicate and god, but sharp. She sliced through her hair into a shorter but. The cut tresses were placed in to the trash. Taking a pitcher of cold water she splashed her face and tried it.
"Please don't take it personally." Persephone leaned against Hades, her small arms wrapped around his bicep. "I know. Although it still hurts." "I'm sorry." "Don't be." "But I still though." Hades laced his fingers in hers. They sat there silently trying to find a way out of this maze.
Tumblr media
Persephone knew she messed up. She had never meant to make Y/n feel abandoned. Everything happened so fast, Kronos, mother, becoming Queen. Suddenly she felt like the same dumb village girl. It had been eleven years since then. But here she was, once more uncertain in her convictions.
The first few weeks were the hardest. Y/n had cried and cried when she realized mother was gone. It was only when her duties summoned Y/n to perform her duties to blanket the planet with frost that she finally arose from her flunk. Afterwards it was only them two. Slowly they got use to this new reality. From a world filled with mother Y/n settled into this new reality. The that was ripped away and she had to settle with a life with no sister.
Guilt plunged into Persephone like a knife. Yes, Persephone had left nymphs in charge of Y/n before leaving for the Underworld. But they were not a parent or guardian. She had assumed Y/n would be fine. Though in Persephone's defense she had sent letters and secretly visited when Demeter's wrath had been great. But maybe that was not enough for a girl of fifteen years old.
"Do you want to speak with her now? Maybe I could come with you." Hades offered. Persephone shook her head. "This is something I need to figure out on my own." Hades let go of his wife to wrap and arm around her. "I'm happy to help." Persephone looked up at him with the gentlest smile on her face. "Hades, I am grateful for all of the support you have shown me. I never thought someone, never knew, what it wad like to have someone on my side as you have been. Hades opened his mouth but Persephone placed a small finger on his lips. "But this is something I need to do alone."
Hades fell asleep as Persephone sat at the desk. As the night dragged on she stared at the paper. It was filled with scratched out sentences, Persephone's attempt at finding the right words. They either sounded formal or downright cheesy. A cool sweat rolled down her forehead. After a while Persephone gave it up as a bad idea. She thought back to what her therapist said. Talking out ones problems was better than a letter. She glanced at the clock to see it was 3:30 am. Dreading the exhaustion she would feel in a few hours time, Persephone climbed into bed.
Tumblr media
She did not see Y/n in the morning. When Persephone asked her mother, Demeter looked worried. "You haven't seen her?" Demeter abandoned the bread she's been laboring on to go upstairs. Anxiously Persephone waited until a few seconds later Demeter hurried downstairs. Persephone knew her answer before Demeter could speak. "I mean.....she's a teenager. She'll be fine, right?" It was more for her own benefit than Demeter's. Hades lumbered into the kitchen, bleary eyed, his usually impeccable hair askew. "Hades, have you seen Y/n?" Pain was bordering on the edge of Persephone's voice. Normally this would not be an issue. But this behavior was highly irregular and given recent even Persephone feared the worst. "No. I can't say I have." Hades immediately perked up at the anxiety laced in Persephone's voice. A shaky breath escaped Persephone as she ran a shaking hand through pink locks. "We better get the nymphs."
They split up into groups of five. Persephone had Hades go with another group, just in case. The four nymphs behind him nervously flited about, calling and climbing trees. "Does Y/n have any hiding spots?" The nymphs shook their heads. "Usually Y/n stays in her house or the gardens." Replied one. Hades sighed, keeping his emotions in check. Anxiety wracked his bones. A whole host of bad thoughts came to him. What if she was injured? Or Apollo had finally retaliated. Suddenly Hades felt nauseous. He was not sure what he couldn't put past him. Hades pulled out his phone. "Are there any Olympians whom Y/n has contact with?" "Hera I think? I know the Queen has been giving Y/n advice about university." Hades dialed Hera's number. A few rings later Hera answered. "Hey." Her voice sounded slightly groggy. Presumably Hera had slept in, which she rarely did. He felt guilty for disturbing Hera, but this was important.
"Hera, have you seen Y/n lately?" His fingers tightened around the phone. "I talked to her a week ago. I she alright?" "I don't know. She went missing this morning. Can you call Apollo or at least check to see what he's been up to?" He heard Hera rustling papers together. "He's been with Zeus in meetings all day." Hera now sounded testy, a tone she took whenever Apollo happened to come up. For anyone else Hades might have felt sorry. Having the literal Queen of the Heavens angry at you was not fun. But this was Apollo so he could kick rocks. "Are there any other Olympians she might be in contact with?" "Not to my knowledge. I'll go ask Zeus." "You go do that. Call me when you find out." He hung up.
A few minutes later Hera called back to say that unfortunately she had no further information. Disappointed but not entirely surprised Hades continued his search. He came across a clearing with a few trees. In one of the trees was a treehouse. "She might be in there!" One of the nymphs darted forward. The other four, Hades included, followed in hot pursuit. When he got to the base Hades called her name. The trap door creaked open and Y/n stuck her head out. Hades let out a sigh of relief. "Y/n! We were worried!" Hades dialed Persephone. With a grunt Y/n shut the door. "Do you think she's angry?" Asked a nymph. The rest shrugged. But Hades knew the answer. In the brief moment their eyes met Y/n's eyes were cold as ice.
Tumblr media
Dinner was a quiet affair. After they found her Y/n refused to leave the tree house. Hades was angry. Not solely because Y/n had caused so much commotion but because she didn't seem to care. In fact, Y/n had not left the treehouse till just before dinner. Demeter had kept unusually quiet. Persephone was jittery, her sentences coming out uncertain when she spoke to Y/n. Not only that, it was slight cool. Hades guessed Y/n was behind that.
"So, got any plans for when you get back?" Demeter tried in a desperate attempt to banish the tense silence. "I bet they do." Muttered Y/n under her breath. But everyone heard it. Persephone bit her lips and looked down. Choosing to ignore the interruption, Demeter attempted to engage her daughter and Hades in conversation. A quiet conversation between Demeter and Persephone were the only voices at the table. Y/n's fork came down with surprising ferocity on an unlucky carrot.
"So Y/n, anything interesting happening soon?" It was a poorly disguised attempt to break the tension. "No." Y/n glowered." Persephone let out a quiet "oh" and fell silent. To Hades's horror he saw tears bordering on her lashes. Okay, this was enough. "That's not an appropriate tone to take with your sister." Hades gave Y/n a look that had made full grown gods cower. Only Y/n did not. Instead she gave back an equally nasty look, eyes like little icicles. "Butt out." She snapped. "Y/n!" Demeter looked aghast. Persephone's hands grasped one another in a tight grip. Angry, Hades rounded on Y/n a second time. "Look. I understand this is new for you but this is Persephone's life. Start acting like a grown up and-" Y/n hand slammed on the table. "I'm fifteen you idiot!" The temperature dropped as the God of the Underworld and the Goddess of winter faced off. "I think you should apologies." Y/n's lip curled. "Just because you barged into my life doesn't make you the boss of me!" Hades really tried to keep it in. But this was too much. "Listen here, your sister had every right to make her own life." "Easy for you to say!" Ice was crawling up the walls. Y/n was on her feet, face warm as a blizzard. Even Hades was taken aback, for the venom in her eyes was uncanny. "Ever since you have arrived I barely see my sister. I hate you!" And in a storm of snow, ice and tears, Y/n was gone.
Tumblr media
Hades had spent eons being jealous of his brothers. Watching them move on with families and leaving him behind had been painful. Looking at a picture of Y/n and Persephone, Hades wondered if that was how Y/n felt. Persephone had said they were close. Before Zeus became King and Poseidon ruled the sea they had been close. He remembered feeling so lonely, and for so long there had been a deep chasm where his heart was.
Persephone had cried herself to sleep. Hades, for a few moments, watched his wife's chest rise and fall. Tear streaks still staining her face. "It's all my fault!" Persephone had gone racing after her sister. She only stopped when Demeter convinced her daughter that Y/n would not want to see her. So they left it to Demeter and the nymphs. Persephone had nervously paced her room, her hair growing almost out of control. It was only when a nymph came back bearing news that Y/n had been found unharmed did Persephone collapse against the sheets. She had cried for hours, mumbling the whole time. As he tried to comfort her Hades heard Persephone's lamentations. "It's my fault." Eventually Persephone fell asleep.
Hades could only sit there, helpless. it has been a while since he had felt this way. Even as a boy he had been forced to contend with feeling abandoned. Only Rhea had given him unconditional love all those years ago. His own father had eaten Hades and spent years, not satisfied with trapping him, tormenting him. Even after being expelled from his prison loneliness persisted. His brothers did not understand him. Hestia had always been kind, but they were do different. Demeter and him never got along. Hera and their shared history was another complex matter. In reality he had been lonely for most of his life. Hecate was a great friend but they were so busy. Plus she was sometimes hard to talk to. Only when Persephone had come into his life did Hades feel as though he properly loved. Not since Rhea had there been a person to love him so selflessly.
Was it the same for Y/n? Demeter meant well but she could be hard at times. He knew Persephone was close with her sister. She was still so young. Could he truly fault her? Even if the way she behaved poorly, Hades could understand her.
Tumblr media
Some time later Demeter informed Hades that Y/n had been found. Y/n was currently hidden up in her tree house. Demeter had decided it was best to leave her alone for the time being. Hades waited until Demeter was in bed and asleep before leaving. Persephone would be sleeping a while longer, so he was good to go. Quietly he crept out into the night. The trek took time. Eventually he arrived. There was no ice, a good sign. Going to the bottom of the tree hades called out; "Y/n?" Her angry little face pocked out. "You!" And then she disappeared. "Y/n. I want to talk." Y/n appeared again. "I'm not letting you up." he huffed. "I won't. Can we just talk?"
Y/n seemed to think it over. A few moments later she said "fine". Although she stayed up there at least Y/n was listening. "You miss you sister." Y/n looked confused. Hades wondered how this would go. Persephone had spoken to her. But perhaps empathy, not just sympathy, would sway her. "You miss Persephone." Y/n snorted. "Of course I do." "You probably view me as the person ruining your happiness." Hades did not mean it in a critical way. He only said this because he was the same. His own happiness had been torn away and only recently been restored. "Would you believe me if I told you I understand?" Y/n sat up right, feet dangling. She said nothing so Hades continued. "My father took my mother from me when I was a boy. I did not have anyone else for so long. My mother was my world and I suspect your sister is the same for you."
Y/n no longer looked angry. From her perch she scrutinized Hades. "I took your sister and that makes you mad." Y/n nodded. Hades did not feel offended, only very sad for her. "Your sister loves you. Just because she is in the Underworld does not mean Persephone has forgotten about you. You know she talks about you all the time. distance has done nothing to tarnish the love she has for you."
Y/n jumped out of the tree house. It caused Hades a scare because he was worried she would be hurt. "Can I speak with her?" Gone was the anger replaced by shame. Tears were starting to build behind her eyes. "I should apologize." She mumbled. Hades placed a hand on her shoulder. "She's asleep right now. But Persephone will forgive you." they started to walk back.
"You know, I felt the same when my brothers went off to marry." Although Y/n said nothing he could tell she was listening. "When Zeus and Poseidon married and I was lonely and angry for a long time." "Well I bet you never screamed at them in front of the family." Y/n mumbled. Hades laughed. "No. I did worse. And I allowed the anger to fester." Hades and Y/n passed into the wheat fields. "your sister and I have a rule." Y/n looked up at him. "What?" "We speak to each other." Y/n laughed, not audibly, but it was there. "So that means you can speak about anything. I promise we won't bite." There was a small bounce to Y/n's step now. For the rest of the journey they walked in silence. But the mood was calm and even happy. Under the night sky they strolled. Later they would talk. But for now there was only serenity.

FASTPASS SPOILERS
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I find it interesting that Kronos and hades are portrayed as two opposite ends of a spectrum. Kronos is evil, manipulative, vile. Hades is misunderstood, good, and charismatic. I find that ESPECIALLY interesting with this whole proposal situation. So, let’s do some reflecting on the Kronos vs the hades proposal shall we?
Kronos Proposal;
•Kore hits her head hard on the ground, and is possibly concussed
•Kronos ignores everything she says, and forces a ring on her finger when it’s clear that Persephone is not in the right state of mind for such a hefty life decision. (Unsteady on her feet, bleeding from her head, double vision, in tears)
•Kronos is horrible because he’s taking advantage of her hurt position and love for hades
Hades proposal;
•Kore has just undergone a horrible torrent of emotional abuse regarding a lot of fears her anxiety stems from. She’s in tears and seems to be shutting in on herself, unable to voice her feelings.
•Hades comes in a storm of moths, goes on a tangent about how Persephone is “perfect for him” and how she makes HIM feel. Rather than, idk how he feels about HER, for once. She’s visibly crying in some panels, emotionally devoid in others. She’s still in the prescience of her mother who is screaming at hades. Yet he drops a proposal on her anyway. And frames it in the guise of a deal made with a king (just in case that slipped past anyone)
•But hades is good for asking Persephone while she’s in a state of disassociation and distress from abuse. And he’s most certainly not taking advantage for her disdain for Demeter in the moment.
Yeaaaaah uh. Make it make sense.
it's the trope of assumed consent at it's most clearest, it's often shown in romance movies. Where we as the audience and the character can assume that despite any discomfort or even outright saying no that they must just be doing so cause of like.. romance? it's a shitty trope that lore olympus often uses.. having hades often not ask for consent... especially in the beginning when he and persephone weren't technically together. I highly recommend watching the pop culture detective video on the Harrison ford romances and stalking for love.
Again lore Olympus isn't as bad as most of these examples but I feel like it strengthens an understanding of why lo is bad

I love the sweet and thoughtful responses I've gotten on my "the seven but with minor demigods" post and I'm gonna reblog it very soon with a couple people's additions that caught my eye, but I did also want to say (and I just woke up so lmao ignore me if this turns out weird), but TLO set up so many different avenues for what a future series would be like. In fact, just based on what I'm gonna say further, I'd like to argue that the whole PJO series was leading up to the point I'm gonna make.
Underworld vs Olympus.
I have a few original works that are kind of in this mindset of a Pantheon with two separate factions and one faction is belittled by the other because it's dark and people don't like it, whatever, whatever, but from the first book where for whatever reason because I can't quite remember why but they automatically assumed that somehow Hades got the lightning bolt and went there to steal it back, from the Titans curse where Bianca f****** died and Percy realized that Nico was a son of Hades as well as the fact that at some point in the book they realize that Nico and Bianca are not from this time. And then in the battle of the labyrinth where they find pan and pan excludes Niko when he's talking to him and you know the fact that at the end of the other book
(sorry I'm just I've been so tired and I just woke up so this is going to get weird and then I'm going to do some brief editing and send it out and you guys are going to get what you see and maybe I'll make sense later)
But anyway, basically you know remember Percy also said that he didn't want to tell anyone that Nico was a son of Hades because he knew that it would drop unnecessary attention and even then he still looked for him and the next book he still knows that it's better for Nico to go home to his dad and train in the Underworld than it is for him to stay at camp.
An in the book after that, he finds out Nico's whole sad past and why his brain got washed and you have Morpheus who is a child of the underworld who is on the Titan's side and in the Sword of Hades short story you have the exact same thing where Hades's daughter is on the Titan side, or at least she doesn't stop them from trying to escape with the sword, and I think there was also the thing with Hecate, and she's not necessarily a child of the underworld but she does live there.
We also have Ethan who is the son of Nemesis who is the daughter of Nyxx who guess again lives in the Underworld, specifically Tartarus (which is just the underworld's basement, but also used to be an area of punishment not just for Titans but also for really really bad people before the fields of punishment became a thing it used to be Elysium asphidos Tartarus and when you play the Hades game it shows you this exact same thing I don't remember when the fields of punishment came into a thing it might have just been another term for Tartarus? and Rick wrote around that for some reason, I don't really know, but you get my point).
In the Sword of Hades as well you have Persephone stating that outside of Kronos, they have other enemies to protect themselves against, and it's never actually stated what those enemies are or who those enemies are but just based on everything up until that point (plus, you know, my own personal headcanons about Hades relationship with his Olympian family), you kind of get the sense that it's the people living on that mountain that are causing some problems.
And then the end of The last Olympian is great Hades comes into the final battle his Wi-Fi side his sister by his side he's proud of Nico he gets the recognition he deserves from Zeus but it's very fleeting. And it's really weird because based on everything that we know about what has happened between Hades and Zeus whenever I remember that scene I always remember him being the one that pushes Zeus to say a compliment rather than Poseidon and when I rewrote that scene recently for My Underworld Jason fanfic it actually took me a little bit by surprise because I didn't remember it playing out that way.
It actually is kind of another show and tell about how Rick will take the most upsetting traumatizing thing to occur and then very quietly and neatly packaged it up into two sentences and then act like it never happened.
The way that scene should have gone was Zeus very quickly pushing past the fact that out of all the other gods, Hades was the one who is actually on the front lines helping their children fight against the enemy. Percy should have noticed, Hades should have been disgruntled but I think Persephone or the fact that Nico was in the room should have kept him from responding to the very quick blow off of his efforts but Percy should have noticed that there was a difference between the way Zeus treated his older brother versus the way he treated everyone else
Also Nico doesn't receive a gift even though everyone else does despite everything he had done up until that point (literally being the only reason Percy didn't die during the final battle because no one else suggested jumping into the Styx), and despite being the fact that he is the reason his father ended up helping them in the first place and I would have loved in Percy's quest to get them to acknowledge their kids and acknowledge the minor gods point that out. Something in his occasional seaweed brain "I spoke too much without thinking" fashion like "oh also Nico probably should have gotten something too and I think that just goes into blah blah whatever" like just using it as an example of kind of ticking off his uncle a bit more, but again showing the clear divide especially if Zeus sort of hand waves the thing and gives Nico like a sword or something and it's just sort of like a pity gift.
Also be really funny if in that scene where he's pointing out how Nico was overlooked as a side eye to how his father was overlooked if he also kind of alluded to the fact that he knows that it was Zeus's fault that Maria died and Nico and Bianca ended up in the Lotus casino and that it was technically Zeus's fault that the Oracle was cursed by Hades in the first place (because if he didn't try to kill Hades' kids, Hades wouldn't have been so angry about the prophecy).
And then that unspoken tension would have been a really nice way to segue into a sequel series.
Anyway okay I'm still really tired but I have to get ready for work so I'm just going to, like ,make sure these paragraphs are broken up properly and that there are punctuation marks so that it's not just a rambling blah blah blah and I will maybe write a better version of this after work. Or during lunch, idk.

I am once again annoyed about the claim that in the Riordanverse WW2 was the children of Zeus and Poseidon on one side and the children of Hades on the other, seeing as it is utter bullshit and involves making Hades the villain when he very much is not. If you have to drag WW2 into this it would honestly be more likely for Zeus and Poseidon to be fighting it out while Hades peered out of the Underworld going "What the fuck are my asshole brothers doing up there", Hades doesn't tend to involve himself in conflicts between the Olympians and canonically in the Riordanverse doesn't want massive influxes of new dead people. And I suspect Rick realized it was a bad idea given it quietly doesn't come up during the flashback to Maria's death, which seems to going with the explanation that Zeus is worried about the recently-given prophecy and killing Hades's children as a result, seeing as there is absolutely no way Bianca and Nico are at all involved in the war.
But you know, one way it does work and also helps explain why everyone hates Hades so damn much even though he straight up isn't the bad guy and both his brothers are infinitely worse is that the whole WW2 thing is just propaganda. Possibly all three of them had children on both sides (although side note it feels weird to suggest that Hades had a sizable number of demigod children, since he doesn't have any in the myths, all his children are full immortal and as far as I'm aware all the ones whose mothers are known are Persephone's, Hades is not known for being a prolific lover by any stretch), but I don't for a moment believe that it was Zeus and Poseidon against Hades. And given the only children of Hades's from that time period we can talk about with any degree of certainty are Bianca and Nico, who Zeus tried to murder just for being children of Hades, it's not like Zeus wouldn't have reason to want to make everyone think that Hades's children were the bad guys. And we know from the events of TLT that the people at Camp Half-Blood are very quick to think the worst of Hades; see the whole theft thing, where the detective process begins and ends with "Hades was there" and Kronos almost wins as a direct result because the plan basically boiled down to "assume everyone will immediately blame Hades with no evidence" (seriously, if everyone at camp hadn't immediately assumed it was Hades Percy would never have brought the master bolt to the Underworld and it wouldn't have almost ended up in Tartarus). So it's entirely possible that the whole "WW2 was Zeus and Poseidon vs Hades" thing is complete bullshit that everyone just buys because they're already primed to think the worst of Hades.

So I changed my mind about Jack vs. Webtoon. I thought he was pretty reasonable at first, but he's not. He has at least 4 videos of himself ranting about LO, but they come off as mean-spirited and immature. There are a ton of videos criticizing LO, but they come off as reasonable. I get that LO is terrible and that Rachel is a shit person, but that doesn't mean that you should harass Rachel. She does that herself. I'm not saying that he does harass her, but his fans probably do. A girl and her boyfriend were making fun of the Kronos vs. Persephone battle, but it was in good spirits.

5 Anti LO Asks
1. In one chapter Hades get criticised for using his status and powers as king to get his way, but barely a few chapters later Hera turns some dude into a duck and its presented as this “haha gotcha moment” because the dude was a bad person, so is it ok for the gods to use their powers against people or not? Why is it not ok for Hades to threaten someone with his powers but it’s ok for Hera to turn people into ducks make it make sense
2. I saw a post on FB celebrating that Morpheus is apparently a trans woman in LO. While I'm not against the idea (I myself am writing them as genderfluid in one of my personal projects where Morpheus is a mc), I don't trust RS to make a good job on that, but I also refuse to try reading the comic again to see how she does it. Is there any post breaking it down for me to read?
3. I tried to stay neutral with Lore olympus and its art, but the fact that Rachel forgot to color Letos hair white in the dream sequence pissed me off. Besides the black eyes, the white hair was the only thing that separated her design from Hera. I literally had to sit there and wonder what was off about the panels until I pieced together that it was Letos design that changed. I was waiting for them to fix her hair when the episode became public (since I saw it in the fast pass) but nope. It's so lazy and careless to me.
Also the male/female proportions kill me everytime I see them. I can't ship anything in Lore Olympus because the proportions make every couple look like a joke. Persephone ends up looking like an older sister to the dream kids instead of looking like their mom because the way she's drawn next to Hades looks so weird.
Anyway just had to get this off my chest. It's been bothering me for weeks (and the recent fast passes aren't helping either)
4. I am disgusted with RS about the whole Minthe. Lowkey feels like she just wants to only focus on HXP and nothing else since Minthe filled her purpose as conflict towards them. Her writing is collapsing on itself.
5. very confused at how FAST the whole persephone’s punishment/persephone vs kronos arc happened. there are more chapters of the TRIAL than there were showing persephone on her own. i would’ve liked to see that… she’s been relying on hades for so long it would’ve been an incredible character arc for her to learn who she is without her mother or the TGOEM or hades. the time skip of 10 years doesn’t bother me. but i would’ve liked to see what else happened. like minthe and daphne are back… but there’s no explanation or struggle to show that process of their return. and idk if that’ll ever be shown even though those plot points were made to be such a big deal to the story. it just doesn’t make sense… and now persephone has beaten kronos… within 2 chapters of physically fighting him… 2 chapters…. when it took a whole war to get him to go under the first time. like kronos being a threat was a HUGE main point of the plot? so now that’s wrapped up so … now what. it just happened extremely fast. so fast that you wonder what the point of persephone getting banished was if that was going to be solved in 15 chapters (191-206). idk it was just very rushed.

Honestly it’s getting tiring seeing the sobbing chronically of the cast ; Hera , Demeter, Persephone and probably more . Like it’s giving big baby cry cry energy instead of idk something proactive. Not sure if It’s just me getting that from the latest chapters???
I have two schools of thought on this.
On the one hand, I can fully understand wanting to show the vulnerability of these characters, to not send a message that emotions are bad and that people should just "toughen up". This is trying to be a "feminist" piece of work after all, and much of feminism preaches vulnerability and empathy and allowing oneself to get back in touch with their own emotions, rather than shutting themselves away from them which is often perpetuated by the societal expectations and norms of toxic masculinity.
Persephone crying as she confronts Apollo - the man who she now understands assaulted her - is understandable and real. A reasonable reaction to an emotional situation that many people can empathize with.
Tumblr media
Hera crying as she reveals the true extent of the damage Kronos caused her is understandable and real. He's quite literally been stalking her in the recesses of her mind and it's reaching a breaking point.
Tumblr media
But on the other hand, there's a difference between wanting to show a character showing their emotions and then learning to overcome the challenges they've presented with - whether they do it independently or learn to trust in others to help them - thus growing in the process and coming out stronger on the other side vs. using a character purely for torture porn. As much as we preach concepts like "normalize crying" in a very simplified way for the sake of being easily understood, such simplifications often result in a lack of nuance.
An entirely other subject to use as a comparison point to explain this nuance - it's like the difference between having a character who's become so jaded and disconnected from the concept of empathy that even murder becomes just a menial task to them vs. murderhobos. Murderhobos are not interesting or complex or empathetic or relatable, they're just written (and in the case of where the term comes from - Dungeons & Dragons - played) for the sole purpose of having an edgy uncaring character who thinks they're free from consequences while they fuck up the lives of everyone around them in a completely irredeemable way (and is often protected from such consequences due to plot armor, unless it's in D&D, in which case you'll likely be politely asked to either change your character for the sake of the campaign or leave.)
There's nothing to gain or learn from murderhobos. They only exist for the satisfaction of an ego complex - "I don't care what you want or how it affects the people around me, I want to kill people without consequences because that's as creative as my imagination can get in my own personal fantasy."
There's nothing to gain or grow from anymore when we get another scene of Hera bleeding mascara as she cries over her situation with Kronos while still refusing to actually tell anyone what's going on with Kronos, despite the fact that we had an entire fucking therapy speak episode where she realized she needed help. So it feels like it's purely there just to play on the trope of "sad woman is saaaad, won't anyone help herrrr?" which is really starting to learn into learned helplessness.
This is especially apparent with Persephone, who, upon causing a massive problem for everyone, has taken it upon herself to shut herself away while her loved ones deal with the problem. If she needs the time to cry and process what's going on, that's fine. But while that's happening, we know mortals are dying and that she's turning the situation into a learned helplessness pity party of "I'm a monsterrr and no one likes meeee :((((" while having zero self-awareness that yeah, she did cause this problem, and her locking herself away in her literal mansion isn't exactly going to help the situation.
I've already used Tamberlane as an example of approaching the subject of learned helplessness and how it's fundamentally different from simply being vulnerable and having emotions, but I'm gonna share it again here because it's really relevant and Persephone needs someone to give her this same wake-up call.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Considering Demeter was the one to approach her at the end of the last episode, I'm hoping she'll be the one to broach the topic with her, but judging by how Rachel's treated it so far with every character reassuring her with empty platitudes that accomplish nothing but comforting Persephone over something she caused like "Noooo you're not a monster, you're the best queen ever and you're trying her best!!" (and the fact that Rachel has spent so much time turning Demeter into public enemy #1 that her readers still can't fucking give her any shred of empathy even after finding out she lost a child, fucking yikes) I'm not holding my breath that this week's episode is gonna actually have that same level of emotional maturity or growth. This is the second time in the entire comic we've seen Persephone suffer the consequences of her actions out of many that have been harmful, some accidental, others very intentional (which Rachel has even supported her doing in a very unironic sense, it's safe to say Rachel really truly does believe that Persephone is entitled to abuse people). And judging by how things went the first time, it's hard to have the benefit of the doubt and assume Persephone is gonna actually take accountability and learn and grow from this. She didn't the last time and her character has only devolved since.
Sure, feeling like you've fucked up to such a monumental degree that you'll never be able to show your face in public again is something that's real and relatable and worth crying over... but crying is an emotional response, not the actual solution. It is a PART of expressing and processing emotions, but ultimately those emotions are not actions, just REactions. Crying is okay, crying is a normal response to grief and sadness, but if you don't actually take steps forward and continue to wallow in the sadness, blame everyone else around you for it, and simultaneously rely on everyone else to carry the burden of your own actions for you, then that's when it exits the realm of healthy emotional processing and broaches the unhealthy realm of learned helplessness and emotional manipulation.
If anything, her entire monologue in the last FP episode was more about Rachel being upset over criticism of her comic and her self-insert that, like Persephone's deal with Erebus and the "plague" that followed, she earned over not addressing the issues in her work sooner and instead choosing to double down - both through Persephone's abusive behavior within the narrative and Rachel's passive aggressive meta-commentary on that abuse being okay because "she's earned the right to lash out".
The only people in this entire comic who have "earned the right to lash out" are the women that Rachel has villainized along the way in the pursuit of giving her self-insert everything without effort or sacrifice. And even then those people would still have to rightfully answer for their wrongs and grow from them - because there is no right to abuse, there is no right to harming others, especially not if the "others" you're harming are people who were victims in their own right that you turned into imaginary enemies so you could have someone to punch down at in the absence of a spine to stand up for yourself against the real perpetrators. And in doing so, Persephone herself has become a perpetrator, who sheds crocodile tears that no one is buying because the writing is on the fucking wall.

Content warning for psychological distress on this week's Lore Olympus is real. Don't say you weren't warned.
Tumblr media
Last week saw Apollo nigh-forcefully working with Persephone to fix the Mortal Realm crisis. With whatever it was Ouranos gave him, it did what it needed to do. At least, for a little bit.
Not only is the bastard clearly and knowingly making the experience miserable for Persephone, but also his plastic smile looks more fake than usual.
Is that ichor leaking out of his eyes? I hope he's in extreme pain from this little show of his. Fucker deserves all the agent he's put others through.
Tumblr media
Next, the douche-canoe goes on a shpeal about how Ouranos "helped" Gaia control her powers. She never needed help with her powers. All that Ouranos did was use them for his own gain.
Everything Apollo says about Gaia needing "fixing" is a lie. Further, he blames her marriage to Hades for causing the extreme winter.
He uses it, as predicted, to lead into ordering Persephone to marry him. That gets him numerous ABSOLUTELY NOTs from across the board.
Tumblr media
I can't even begin to imagine how horrifying this is for Persephone. This purple Olympian shit stain is desperate to get at her powers. He thinks he's king and can bully everyone just because Zeus is out cold and he's king's son.
I do wish Artemis would show up at some point. Technically, she's got just as much claim to the thrown as her brother, plus the benefit of common sense and decency.
Tumblr media
THE QUEEN SPEAKS!
Welcome to the latest shit-show, Hera! She comes out spouting just about everything the other Olympians and the readers have been thinking and feeling.
I particularly love her emphasis that Persephone "so obviously despises" Apollo.
Tumblr media
Oh, this was the cherry & icing on the cake!
With the camera still rolling, she outs Apollo for manipulating Hebe into running away. With her piece spoken, she moves onto the next matter at hand.
DAT EPIC MIC DROP THO!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Hera intends to fix several things at once by doing what is possibly the most dangerous thing.
Kronos has stated that he won't cooperate unless he's given his "Golden Traitor" back. Hera knows it's dangerous. Her vision from a few chapters back showed her likely getting either killed or completely wrecked in a direct confrontation with Kronos.
And yet, she's willing to take that risk, not just for herself, but others as well. Persephone has been kind to her in multiple ways; the least she can do is give something back.
Maybe they'll save Hades. Maybe they'll save Melinöe. Maybe they'll kick Kronos' ass. Maybe they'll get Persephone's spring powers back. Maybe they'll even find the cure for Zeus. There's so much that can come out of this that the extreme danger feels worth the risk.
We shall see.
BONUS:
Tumblr media
ARES VS APOLLO (with everyone else now), ROUND 2!
FUCK HIM UP, ARES! I WANNA SEE A LOT MORE ICHOR ON HIS UGLY FACE NEXT WEEK!
ANYWAY, THANKS FOR COMING TO MY LO POST!!!!!!!

I honestly feel like the reason we’re getting all these recent flashbacks of what happened with different characters during the punishment is bc the story is trying milk everything on too long.
Honestly it would’ve made more sense to cover everything that happened in the last 10yrs after the trial and before the persephone vs Kronos fight .
We would’ve had a better build up to what led to the gods who fell into a coma, persephone struggling with filling in for mother, minthe’s development, Hades being taken over by Kronos as well as how all the other side characters adjusted to being separated from the mortal realm, olympus and the underworld
Though these flashbacks are interesting, they’re dragging on way too long and clearly should’ve been shown before hand

Kronos was called the crooked one for good reason. Assaulting Olympus when a prophecy, despite what the Fates say, was rigged against him? Merely a ruse to something greater.
No, with Gaea rising and the emperors of old waiting in the wings, it was not the opportune time to take Olympus. Let them think that they had vanquished him. Let them enjoy their false victory. Let his children and their offspring defeat the opposition for him, clearing a path for his ascension.
But for now, he will march willingly to his defeat. As with the (unwilling) assistance of the child of Hermes, two of the three cyclopes that forged weapons of the Olympians, his most trusted titans, and an unfulfilled prophecy, Olympus will be his.
It's only a matter of time...

Let’s Discuss: This is Gonna Be a Long One
Spoiler Free for Non-Fast Passers!
Gonna go section by section for my own sanity
The Underworld: Everyone is asleep! A little jarring but better than dead. Catching the Zs vs Kronos’ clutches. No one has been in the Underworld for 10ish years. Why and how? I assume that they’re asleep to keep them out of the way. Now why tho? For their protection or the realm’s demise? How are they still alive? Animals who hibernate store up on food. I don’t think anyone is feeding them. That might be just nitpicking but still. It doesn’t seem like it’s only regular citizens. Hermes was mentioned to look like he’s asleep but he’s obviously possessed by Kronos. Hecate is an anomaly and so our own unknown visitor. Also we get another still of Persephone’s tree. A visual reminder that the Underworld is truly dead but I hope that Persephone who is not only the Bringer of Death but full of life will be able to use her fertility goddess powers.
Hecate: We see Hecate in what looks to be a maybe conscious state. Showing obvious passage of time since her pristine blunt bob is long and over grown.
I have two theories for Hecate:
1. Her being the goddess of magic and witchcraft was able magically put everyone under a sleep spell with help from Hypnos, the god of sleep but Hecate doesn’t seem very aware so it might have been a spell that encompassed everyone including her and Hypnos. She’s sleepwalking? Even in her slumber guarding the Underworld, patrolling.
2. Kronos took Hypnos and Kronos is in charge of sleep. Why am I set on Hypnos? Most commonly Hypnos is shown in ancient statues and LO OC fanart with winged imagery. Our unknown visitor has wings and is awake when everyone else is asleep? Is this Hypnos? No I don’t think so, it looks like a woman but I think they’re lead us to the answer. Getting back to it: Hecate was being sock puppeted by Kronos. If he can take over a “sleeping” Hermes, who says he can’t do Hecate? Is it odd that Kronos as Hecate would happen so quickly after a draining fight and doesn’t register them. He could be looking for them? Just thoughts
Persephone: She’s gaining her confidence and being the bad b*tch we know she is. She’s done taking crap from Zeus and then him just zapping out. He is in her domain. She shows us how much of a queen she is. That she’s the knowledgeable one. Zeus really thought he was gonna waltz into Tartarus and save the day when: he didn’t know any of the customs, how to get there, and what he’s gonna do. Also we get some great visual symbolism. Zeus picks her like a child and then we see her above him again but in a confident leadership role. Also her jacket looks similar to a moth which that allegiance to Hades. Always repping her man. Also her bossing up when she found that he tried to marry Hades off to the Wish version of Persephone. Both you girls deserve better. I can’t wait til they actually get to see each other and genuinely speak to each other.
Hades: Hades’ stars are lessened which is nice to know that they aren’t permanently stuck on him as a constant reminder of his father. Everyone has adopted new hair styles. The long overgrown quarantine hair is in. It is so genuinely sad to see him call out of to her when he thinks she’s there and see one of her butterflies then poof away just like his hope. He’s obviously right to be enraged by this bait and switch. He just wants his wife. We see the stars again and a smack down of truth to Zeus. Let your brother be happy Zeus.
Zeus: I will pay him one compliment. Just one then the verbal carnage and ripping him apart will start. The fit is fire. He looks really good and hot. Obvious Harry Styles inspiration. He knows he has abs and he really thinks that will take away from his abyssal actions. A tiny bit of character development happens: he actually gets off his butt to solve the problem. He reflects on how Hera hid her pain from him, Hebe just wants her family back, he feels like he’s the worst thing to happen to Hera, and then Athena actually motivates him to do something. He doesn’t know what or anything about the Underworks though. He really thought he could waltz in and do the remix of Defeating Your Dad. You are mistaken sir. He can hold him off but he’ll need Persephone but he won’t tell ya that until he’s forced to.
What we need to talk about with Zeus is him projecting onto Hades and Persephone. What he’s “scared of” happening to Hades and Persephone is what happened/is happening to him and Hera. He’s not had the character growth and breakthrough yet. He’s had moments but not enough. Bestie trying to force Hades into marrying Persephone by force is yikes on par with you. Hades being the king he is, says no and he wants her to love him first. Awww a romantic who wants consent! Look Zeus you got what you want, why aren’t you happy? Ooo ya you’re scared of Apollo. You see Hades and Persephone happy and in love how you use to be. Then you f*cked it up. Being King went to your head. You’re projecting your martial problems onto them. You think Persephone is gonna be YOU. Get bored with amazing option they have and go looking for the next best thing. The next best thing that’s looking to overthrow you. You don’t want that. He’s scared of history repeating so he’s projecting and desperately trying to stop it. Except he chose to jump out the window and fall into what could be his doom vs seeing the very obvious door that would lead him to a solution: let your brother be happy. Let the brother who doesn’t want to overthrow be with the woman who be used to overthrow you. I’m excited for more and to discuss more!! Sorry if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes this was written over two very sleep deprived days.
