i was a crying mess this game, because my best friend in the entire world, my other half, my big brother, scored two goals tonight! (notice how i used all nice pictures because i’m so unbelievably proud of him!) (sorry meme fans) and not only that! he also had the primary assist on kuzy’s goal— giving him a three point night!

quinn has always been a star in my heart (not a dallas one but… well you get it) and tonight, he was first star for the first time as captain! needless to say, i immediately bursted into tears when the canucks posted those videos. this was 100% a scrapbook worthy game! (p.s. trevy, we need to go to michaels)

ALSO shoutout to my fav blonde princess for having a four point night! two of those points came from assists on both of quintin’s goals! thanks b.b!

quinny, i love you, and i’m so proud of you. i couldn’t have asked for a greater big brother💙

anyway to me evgeny kuznetsov will always be defined by his joy. he really had so much of it; it spilled over often and put a smile on so many faces including his teammates' and fans'. his personality is one of a kind, ebullient and brash and clever. a lot of what he did that people on the outside scorned him for came from a place of love — for his family, for his team, for the game. the flapping bird celly, for instance, that garnered so much bad faith criticism from more conservatively minded hockey pundits and fans — he did that for his daughter. it delighted her! and who was he to deny her just because some people whose opinions he didn't care about said he should stop?

i'll love kuzy forever — like that entire cup team is lodged in my heart, but kuzy gave us the game 6 ot winner against pittsburgh. i think that was actually the moment every single person who was invested in the capitals' success realized this year might be the one. i'll never forget it; for as much as the final game in vegas is embedded into my psyche as a sports fan, that kuzy goal in the second round might actually be one of the single most memorable moments of my life lol. the way i felt, the way hundreds and thousands of caps fans must have felt.... no matter what has happened since, no matter what happens from here on out, we'll always have that game, that playoff run, that magic that kuzy brought to the ice.

at his best, he's so creative and dynamic. one of those guys that can make something out of absolutely nothing, and a really dynamite playmaker. ovi got the conn smythe in 2018 and nobody on planet earth begrudges him that, but the argument kuzy should have gotten it for that playoff run... it's strong.

i understand that kuzy's time and legacy in washington is not an uncomplicated one, but the thing that isn't complicated is this: i'm grateful for all the good times he brought to the team and the fans, and i'm grateful for all he gave of himself along the way. and don't get it twisted, he gave as much of himself as he could. i know people liked to say (especially these past few years) that he wasn't trying, that he was checked out, that he was just a warm body on the ice. i don't know how you look at a guy that's so clearly struggling and come away with that attitude. just zero empathy. nobody wants to be struggling, man. no professional athlete in the world wants to go do what they've spent their whole life training to do and fucking fail at it. i really hope that he got — and continues to get — the support he needs, and i hope he gets that fresh start he wants so badly.

i've missed seeing him in good spirits; i've missed seeing him loose and happy and playful and i want him to feel that way again. i wanted so so much for it to be here with the capitals because i am sentimental to a debilitating degree, but even more than that i want him to feel good and be well, no matter where and how. i hope he gets that. i hope he knows that we're rooting for him always.

After a 7-2 win over the Sharks and completing the season series undefeated against them Quinn and a few of his teammates decided to go out to a local bar. Quinn was told a few of the other guys girlfriends and wives were joining as well and when Elias went to ask Quinn if Y/N was planning on joining them Quinn just shook his head.

“Nah she’s working late tonight couldn’t make it to the game” Quinn tells him

“Is everything alright between you two?” Elias questions with a concerned tone

“I don’t know man she’s just she’s been really clingy lately I don’t know what to do I love her but it’s like lately it’s like I can barely breath at this point the rink is my escape” Quinn complains

Elias shoots him a sympathetic look.

“You can tell her it’s just a guys night I’ll back you up I mean we both know I’m not bringing anyone to the bar tonight” Elias

“Ya lucky you” Quinn says impulsively the only thing Quinn didn’t know was Y/N was on the other side of the wall waiting to surprise him and instead ended up hearing every word said.

Frustrated Y/N leaves without seeing Quinn and heads back to their shared apartment.

Once she arrives she heads to their bedroom and changes into her pajamas before starting to cry remembering the conversation between Quinn and Elias.

How could Quinn say those things about her. Was she really that clingy?

A few minutes of crying goes by when her phone beeps and it’s a text from Quinn

Quinny 💚- Hey babe going out with the guys I’ll be back late get home safe love you

Y/N nearly slams her phone on her bedside table and resumes crying this time with more thoughts running through her mind

If he loved me he wouldn’t have said those things about me

Why am I not good enough for him

Eventually Y/N wears herself out from crying and falls asleep.

Around midnight Quinn unlocks his apartment and steps inside. He notices Y/N purse sitting on the coffee table and sighs in relief knowing she got home safe, especially after not responding to his text which she usually does.

Quinn walks to his fridge and pours himself a glass of water before walking to the bedroom where he finds Y/N curled up on the bed. Quinn grabs a blanket from the foot of their bed and drapes it over Y/N then places a kiss on her head before walking to his closet and changing into a pair of sweatpants.

Quinn then walks to the bathroom and finishes getting ready for bed before tucking himself in right next to Y/N and peacefully falling asleep.

The next morning Quinn wakes up to Y/N gone. He yawns and checks his phone feeling grateful that Tocchett gave the team the day off. After spending around 10 minutes on his phone Quinn pulls back the covers and walks to the kitchen where he sees Y/N sitting at the counter sipping a cup of coffee.

“Good morning” Quinn says walking over to Y/N and attempting to places a kiss on her cheek to which she turns her head making his attempt unsuccessful.

“Is everything ok?” Quinn asks taken back by her response

Y/N chooses not to respond and continues sipping her coffee

“Are you mad because I went out last night without you come on babe it was guys only none of the other guys girlfriends went” Quinn lies

Y/N looks him straight in the eye before whipping her head back to avoid him

Quinn gives her a strange look before walking to the coffee machine to make himself a cup before taking a seat next to her.

“So I was thinking maybe you and I could go out to lunch today Kuzy was telling me about a great new spot that just opened up down the street from us” Quinn says to no response instead Y/N finishes her cup of coffee, gets up, places her cup in the sink and walks to their room slamming the door shut.

Quinn tries to rack his brain wondering what he could’ve done to make her ignore him especially when she’s been so on to him recently about spending time together

He pulls out his phone checking his calendar wondering if he missed a birthday or anniversary but there’s nothing.

He ponders over it while finishing his cup of coffee before placing his mug in the sink and walking back towards their room

He walks in and sees Y/N standing in front of the sink in the bathroom brushing her teeth

“Y/N is everything alright?” Quinn asks

Y/N doesn’t respond and continues with her task at hand after finishing she begins walking out of the bathroom but Quinn stops her

“Seriously Y/N knock it off tell me what’s wrong” Quinn says with a little more force in his voice

“Quinn move” Y/N says

“No not until you tell me what’s happening” Quinn says blocking the opening

“Why don’t you want to go out to lunch?” Quinn asks

“How about you take yourself out to lunch it’ll be a nice little break from me” Y/N says before pushing Quinns arm down and walking out of their shared bedroom and bathroom space leaving Quinn standing there.

DYLAN, he really is wanted here 😭 (and of course my mind goes to Connor watching a clip of this, maybe catching it in the moment but then future!Connor seeking it out when he finds himself thinking he wants to be close to him again, and feeling some kind of way about it)

he wanted to feel wanted and now he IS wanted!!! i feel emotional about it every day. it has been so so lovely to watch his teammates come to love him and the fanbase come to love him. it's kind of a tough time for caps fans with ovi having a bad year, nicky having to step away, our other beloved old men constantly getting injured, and the team just kind of not being great right now (not to compare our trials to the tribulations of teams in worse situations, but caps fans were really spoiled by great, exciting hockey for like a decade and the comedown to mediocrity is a little rough 😂) and he's just been like. SO good for being a guy who seems like he loves it anyway and being so easy to root for. the local media adores him. his teammates seem to be so happy for him. and the fans love him! when i wear his jersey to games people ALWAYS stop me to tell me they love him.

at dinner the other night @hopetorun (not a caps fan or even a big dylan girlie but supports my passions) was like, i need to make sure you're totally grasping the real possibility of all star dylan strome. and the thing is i had joked about it a little but i hadn't REALLY grasped it. like they might still pick ovi 'cause he's ovi, or they might pick tom or maybe kuzy or someone else. but there is also a REAL chance they pick the guy who's currently leading the team in goals AND points. him!!!!! and if that happens i WILL puke and cry about it. 💖💖💖

and then yes of course there's the mcstrome of it all. i DO hope connor is seeing how well dylan is doing and feeling some feelings about it. i DO hope that if dylan goes to the asg that they interact on camera for me to cry about!!! i would never recover but that's fine, i'm fine with that.

I kind of what to read about like Y/N FaceTiming the Canuncks for the drama and then Luke or Jack or Nico walking in her room

luke had told you he was getting into the shower. while he was away, you were laying in his bed and decided to call quinn. "hi guys," you laughed as quinn propped up the phone and gave you a view of him, elias, kuzy, brock, and beau all sitting around quinn's living room.

you immediately jumped into the story of how nico and luke got into it at practice over and how it was definitely because luke slept over even though nico didn't want him to.

luke had exited the bathroom and listened to you talk to his brother for a couple of minutes about him and your brother. luke cleared his throat and the room fell silent. "i gotta go," you said quickly hanging up the phone on the canucks players.

"hi baby, how was your shower?"

"do you always tell the canucks about things?"

"we have a call weekly and a group chat."

Alright! Pretty scared to do this, but hiiiiiii! I'm Kuzuki, but you can call me Kuzi, if you want. For the past year, all I've ever done was reblog people's works, ones I know I want to remember, and ones I know people would love.

I could do anything. I can write works, even if no one sees it. I can write, knowing that I'd be doing myself a favor. I can write... and I'd be happy.

Now, writing is a fickle thing. I know some people struggle to write, whether that's lack of motivation, imagination, or inspiration. But I still love them for trying. Reading people's works was what kept me going during my childhood, marvelling at their story and the emotion in each and every one of them, and I want to be like that.

So, I'm starting a fanfic series. About my favourite series. A new alternate universe, a new place to explore.

After some discussion with our friends the @gbavian in regards to diplomatic relations, we have prepared and dispatched an envoy to Bavian space to take charge of the Republic diplomatic efforts there.

Ambassador Etox should be arriving within the solar day, after departing from Republic space tomorrow morning. I know from personal experience that he will do a wonderful job in helping to repair the relationship between us and the Bavians.

We have always valued the Bavian people and their friendship, and we are sad that things are still viewed as frayed between us. Chancellor Caloxi is hopeful that this will allow us to resume our formerly close relationship once again, owing to our non interference in diplomatic affairs as opposed to certain other nations.

The Ambassador will be presenting President Kuzi with his credentials and a gift of thanks from the Darexi people in honor of our past friendship.

As a result, the small but active Bavian expatriate community here on Laxtara are watching with eager anticipation!

so! tonight, talking about the end by yanghongwon. it was released in january 2020, a few months after hongwon disbanded dickids. and i haven’t paid a lot of attention yet, now i did and you already know my reaction.

this is his most positive and hopeful song ever, 20 steps forward. he even changed his name with it. i always assumed “the end” was sth sad, but he meant the end of bad things and the beginning of new, good things.

every line is so peaceful and hopeful. (the part where he talks about killing people: he adds that he used to think like that but doesn’t do that anymore). except for the “(who i am) i don’t know, i don’t feel anything”.

[and i think he just added this bc it sounded cool xD and it was added later. pretty sure it was written by agunu bc he used it first. kuzi also has credits on the song (the part with the horizons i guess, you can hear him sing it in the original version). hongwon never worked with them after this as far as we know. maybe he wanted to give them some credits (=money) and then start new (without them)??? maybe that’s too much of an assumption but i always wonder why they don’t seem close anymore (hongwon once bought a house for himself and kuzi bc kuzi was homeless).]

yourusername welcome to my postgame penalty box show: quinn actually smiled tonight edition! tonight was the last home game of the season, and that means it was fan appreciation night! not only that, but team awards were also given. and guess who got best defenseman? my best friend that’s who!!!

quintin also received a penalty tonight! this is second penalty in a row, and his record for number of consecutive games with a penalty is three! two of these came from the back to back games against the red wings, and i hate the red wings, so good riddance. let’s see if he can match or break this record for an already amazing record breaking season he’s having! he also have a very lovely speech; something i never thought i would see my best friend do. he’s grown so much this season and i couldn’t be more in awe of him <3

Aww, you're sweet. Have some brief background summaries on a couple of them that no one asked for on their own.

Honey Hole - I woke myself up in the middle of the night to write "ALEX OVECHKIN A/B/O HONEY HOLE????" on a post-it note some time ago, and have not known peace since. Ever since Thatcher Demko used that phrase, it's been bouncing around in my head. Anyway, Alex Ovechkin is the NHL's most nontraditional omega. It's a weird story that might actually absorb another one I as writing at one point, which was something like "the five rookies who took Ovi out to dinner and found out by dessert he was already in a long term relationship with someone else." I think it was inspired by a picture of Ovi out to dinner with Barkov where Ovi has a shit-eating grin on his face and Barkov looks like someone just kicked his puppy.

the brotherhood of the traveling sweat-jeans- exactly what it sounds like on the title, for once. Inspired by Alex Ovechkin’s magical sweat jeans (sweans, if you will) and the fact Karl Alner casually dropped in an interview that various members of the Caps like trying on Ovi’s bonkers outfits now and again. So it’s about how the sweans make their rounds throughout the Caps over the years and it gives whoever wears them magical powers or luck or whatever.

Soulmate first words tattoo bullshit - This was something I started to write for a fic exchange and then dropped because I didn’t think it really fit what my assigned person wanted. So this was a take on that trope that the first words your soulmate says to you are on your body somewhere, which would make Nicklas Backstrom’s very interesting, given that they’d be “The Washington Capitals are pleased to select Nicklas Backstrom.” So Nicky grows up knowing who he’s going to get drafted to, but also vaguely weirded out that it’s likely to be, uh, the GM (even though GMGM was a silver fox) and then SURPRISE, it’s Ovi. And then there are misunderstandings because the first thing Nicky says to Ovi is something generic like “hi” and for a while, neither of them know who’s on first re: soulmates.

Behold, a man - Ovi and Nicky accidentally transform into chickens (as you do) and Brooks Orpik reluctantly deals with it. Title is from the Diogenes quote. I started writing this to cheer Weaglerock up about something-- probably playoffs-- and because every year I rent chickens for a thing, and it provides some very useful firsthand research.

Here’s a bit from Behold, a man:

"Hey, hi, so like, O and Backy turned into chickens, it's not my fault," Willy said, standing on his front step with a large cardboard box in his arms.

"It's his fault," Burky said from somewhere behind Willy.

"Totally Whip fault," someone else—Kuzy? said, also from behind Willy, who took up a lot of space on a normal basis and even more so when he was apparently hauling boxes around. One arm poked out from behind him and waved wildly, and then there was an unmistakable giggle, so it was definitely Kuzy. "Batya, let us in."

"Fuck you, it's not!" Willy said, and then hoisted the cardboard box up slightly. The box peeped at Brooks loudly, and he jerked back in surprise. "Here, let us in, lemme just explain," Willy added, and then Brooks had three—no, four, no, five, Djoos and Orlov were apparently quietly lurking at the back of the pack as well—teammates stampeding into his house like they were trying to outrun the cloud of youthful indiscretion that Brooks could just fucking see hanging over them.

"Curse my slow door-slamming skills," he said to his now-empty front step, and then closed the door and took a deep breath in order to prepare for whatever the hell was going on.

Most of them were all in his kitchen. Willy had put the box down on the kitchen table and he and Burky were in his pantry; Kuzy was looking in his fridge; he didn't see Djoos; and Snarls, bless his heart, was the only one being polite and standing near one of the chairs, clearly waiting for permission to sit down. Brooks made a mental note to tell Ovi about it, since Ovi believed in positive reinforcement when it came to nurturing the kids, and would probably buy Dima a new car or something.

The box on the table was still peeping. Before Brooks could deal with that, it was drowned out by an even louder noise, which was apparently directly related to Kuzy pawing through his vegetable crisper drawer.

"Batya! It's terrible!" Kuzy said, leaning out of the fridge and brandishing an eggplant at him.

"All of his crackers are wholegrain stuff," Burky called out from the pantry, muffled. "He doesn't have any chips."

"He's got two bags of Skinny Pop, though," Willy added. "Original and White Cheddar."

"Everything so healthy," Kuzy said, making a face. "It's terrible but I guess also good. I know we make best choice to come here."

Brooks took the eggplant away from Kuzy and slapped it against his palm once with a pleasantly solid noise. It had some good heft. "The last person who isn't sitting down at the table quietly in the next fifteen seconds gets to explain to Barry why they have to go on LTIR because someone beat them senseless with an eggplant."

"Like, a real eggplant, or is this a dick joke," Willy said, leaning out of the pantry before his eyes went wide. "Oh."

Kuzy was already opening his mouth with that glint in his eye again, so Brooks pointed the eggplant at him. "Sit. Down. Where's Juicer?"

"I was using the bathroom, please don't hit me," Djoos said meekly, slipping back into the kitchen and sitting down immediately, hands folded on top of the table neatly like a good little d-man. Brooks made another mental note to let Nicky know. Nicky had his own nurturing system for the kids, though that usually ran along the lines of a series of slightly less murderous than usual glares that he used for those currently in his favor.

"Can we bring some Skinny Pop?" Burky asked. "Actually, can we bring both bags?"

"I mean, actually you wouldn't really need to explain so much—" Willy said, and then Burky wiggled past him out of the narrow pantry doors with a bag stowed under each arm, and dove for the table, yelling out, "Willy's last one, hit him, Batya, hit him!"

"Hey!" Willy said indignantly, rushing after him and almost knocking Kuzy over in the process.

There was a briefly chaotic interval like a particularly violent game of musical chairs, but it ended with everyone sitting down in a chair, even if Burky and Djoos were sharing one. Less sharing, maybe, than Burky getting physically dumped out of two chairs in quick succession by Willy and Dima, and then Burky climbing into Djoos's lap, planting himself there, and winding his arms around Djoos's neck despite Djoos's wide-eyed expression of panic, but Brooks decided he couldn't afford to be too particular about it, and Djoos was just going to have to learn to desensitize himself to Burky-induced boners and personal space issues.

The box was still peeping.

First date starters

Volleyball practise was over... Kuze checked his phone after packing his bag to see what kind of things he missed... just to see a small beeping message from Erin.

Erin: I am bored.... Will you go out with me sometime? When are you free? Kuze: Practise is just over... how about we meet up in the city. Erin: Sounds awesome, meet you soon.

To Kuze it was a relief too... given his memory troubles its been the first time since Yasuno he finally was close with someone himself without his vice leader helping him... and so Kuze got changed and took his bag moving onto the trains to the city.

He was leaning against a wall checking his phone as Erin stopped by.

"So what did you wanna do?"

"Come on Kuzie... you probably know some fun places here... how about you pick?"

Kuze gave a small nervous gulp before nodding... he took him along to a small part that was full off Cafes, small colorfull shops and a Karaoke bar.

"This one... Yasuno w-wouldn't go with me there but-"

"Karaoke, eh? Sounds fun, why not."

The two went to rent a booth for an hour... usually Kuze was pretty shy about it but somewhat singing seemed not as bad... even if Erin sometimes used his pranks to get him to hit a note wrong but aside that... it was for once a more calming day from all the commotion in his own dorm.

I have so many hockey things to say, first off I see why the Johansson trade happened but I am still sad about it, he has such a great personality and he had good skills face off wise along with veteran leadership(if I remember correctly, my memory isn’t that good sometimes) they all had a good roll with the team. I’ll miss him very much, and his dog Dozer who is adorable . Thank you for all that you’ve done for Nashville Ryan! We will miss you!

Second thing, I’m excited for the draft, yet nervous at the same time. I’m worried who I’ll lose one the Preds and the Caps. And I hope they get good players who will do well with them and fit the lineups.

If I lose someone very dear to me like Juuse, Duchene, Kuzy, etc. I will lose my shit.
