june 2022 writing tally

Once again, more of a note to self to see where I was in my writing of all of the things at this point in time. Juggling multiple WIPs so good to see where they all were.

Slow progress is being made. My average is 500 words a day (when I'm not braindead) so it's kind of like a steady crawl. Still capping at 3 WIPs and rotating between them at the end of each chapter, though I might be swapping one out for July. Making the rules as I go...

WIP 1: The Winter Soldier long fic is crawling along, much to my surprise. On one hand, I've let it sit for months along the way and it always get pushed to the back when other "more shiny" projects jump in front. And it also lagged as I had hit the wall that was chapter 6 and 7 and really had no idea what would happen there. 1-5? had those down, 8-13, I know what I'm doing. But 6/7? A void. But the first half of June was throwing down 6.5K words on chapter 7 and well it's done. It's... something? The cool part is that I'm finally at the shiny scene idea that sparked this whole story. After 40K! It's like my reward for sticking with it... I'm excited to see how close it will be to my original idea from way back in 2021... Current total is @ 40.3K.

WIP 2: This one also got some love! I'm about one day from the end of the first draft of the follow-up to "You May Never See." This chapter sits at around 5.7K, will probably get another 500 and I kind of hate the whole damn thing right now. The story is @28.5K and it's a giant zero draft mess. (I think?) I have not looked back at any of it since I started so I have no idea how meh/incoherent it is. Gonna let it prove for July and poke at it in August and maybe I won't hate it? Fuuuuuuuuuu... This one is a beast.

WIP 3: The weird original story was not touched in June, WIP 1/2 took the slots. This might end up on the back burner to a new story idea that will probably leapfrog over this one as I try to find an original story that sticks. I seem to be comfortable with kinky novellas, so I might try my hand at one. I've had a few ideas that were knocking around as possible fic premises so I might try one out. Whatever it is, it's coming up right after I finish up the last chapter of WIP 2. So I have to figure it out. Perhaps more on that at the end of July. (A month in which I will also move across the country, so yikes for upcoming writing interruptions...)
