Alternate Prophecy AU Timeline

For those who are interested!

I’m linking the parts as i write them, so if you’d like to read them in order, here’s the order!

if a part doesn’t have a link that means i haven’t written it yet. you are more than welcome to request that i write a certain part, just copy-past the part you want in an ask (anon or otherwise) and send it. limit one line (sentence bullet point thing idk what to call them) per ask but you can send multiple asks at once

i’m more than willing to answer any questions about this au if you’ve got any

this timeline is NOT final! the order of events might change and some of these lines might get squished together, but for now this is how the story is happening

i won’t be writing all of this in order, sorry

-this post here explains the basics of what i did for the dragonets for this au

-starflight is in the lab writing down timelines for the rainwing prisoners and how the research is going to go in the coming months, and while he’s doing that morrowseer comes in to question him about the prophecy

-then morrowseer takes him away to meet the “dragonets of destiny” which are the alternate dragonets from book four, so flame, orche, viper, squid and fatespeaker. starflight is tasked with keeping an eye on them but as soon as morrowseer leaves them alone the dragonets immediately try to kill starflight

-starflight runs and hides like he does in the book and while he’s hiding he has a vision of the future. in this vision he sees five dragonets who are not the ones that just tried to kill him (he’s surprised to see that this future includes himself and not fatespeaker). they’re in the rainforest, which is not where he was expecting

-he decides that this means he needs to go see to it that this future happens, and all the timelines show that this is probably the best course of action

-i don’t know if he tells fatespeaker or not because if she tells him she’ll insist on coming along and idk how to write her yet so maybe not but idk for sure yet

-he goes to the rainforest and meets glory, who demands to know what happened to Orchid and Kinkajou

-when he doesn’t give her a straight answer she drags him off to meet jambu and threatens to knock him out with blowdarts while they swing all the way to the forest

-he meets jambu and suntime starts

-starflight sneaks back to the tunnels and runs into deathbringer, who agrees to take him to the mud kingdom

-they fly to the mud kingdom and glory follows them, deathbringer gives him advice about living on his own in the world and then they get caught in a battle and separated

-starflight almost gets burned but is saved by clay and asks him and his silbings about the prophecy

-after things are sorted and he recruits clay into saving the world with him (maybe he spends a few days in the swamps? idk yet) starflight says he’s going to try the skywings next and deathbringer is like “oh no no no don’t go anywhere near the skywing palace, scarlet will find you and you will fight in her arena”

-so he doesn’t do that and deathbringer takes him back to the rainforest where glory leads them to the village, deathbringer meets the rainwings and jambu asks them where they’ve been for the last couple days

-(i’m debating having jambu x deathbringer be a thing cause it was brought to my attention that that’s a ship and i think it’s fun so if ur reading this lemme know ur thoughts about that)

-deathbringer has to go and starflight decides maybe the seawings are next on his list to recruit a dragonet, so he makes plans to go the rainforest and glory and jambu insist on going with (glory so she can keep an eye on him and jambu cause glory is going and it sounds fun)

-then they either meet riptide and tsunami out in the middle of nowhere in the sea kingdom

-or they find the summer palace and fall through the ceiling and meet tsunami that way

-tsunami either brings them to the summer palace or after starflight falls through the canopy one of my ocs, prince oyster, talks to starflight about eggs and things and takes him to a dragon that knows about hatcheries and other dragons that might know more about eggs that hatched on the brightest night

-after talking to urchin, oyster takes starflight to wait in a cave so he can meet the queen and uh. starflight meets the queen and possibly blister but i have no idea

-more things happen here, they probably go back to the rainforest

-starflight starts making plans to go to the desert and jambu says he’s had all the fun outside the rainforest that he can handle so he stays behind and glory and tsunami don’t like each other but also just kinda vibe and exciting things

-anyway somehow they go to the desert and the scorpion den and they meet sunny and thorn and qibli and six claws and ostritch (and i love basically every sandwing in this series guys i might have to turn myself into a sandwing for a while cause they’re all just so cool)

-starflight asks about the prophecy (he falls in love with her at first sight, he thinks, but she’s aro/ace so she doesn’t feel the same (also i’m giving sunny freckles cause i can)

-things happen, he recruits sunny and then at this point all they need is a skywing, which, according to the futures is going to be hard.

-starflight, glory, tsunami and possibly sunny decide it might be a good idea to get clay before they try any skywing-recruiting endeavors, so they make plans to go find clay in the swamps

-they don’t take the tunnels, which was their first mistake. Starflight gets annoyed at his new, incredibly loud travelling companions, and does the raindrop/ocean waves mind reader blocking trick and it works a little too well when a skywing patrol sneaks up on them and captures all of them

-the arena is terrifying. glory manages to get away so she’s not scarlet’s ‘art’ but tsunami and starflight are trapped on their spires. there’s no clay here

-tsunami has to kill her father

-starflight and tsunami are tasked to fight every icewing in the arena, but glory appears out of nowhere and venoms all of them, which leads to peril being let out and more venom spraying and scarlet getting hit and the skywing palace going into uproar, and starflight gets a mind reader headache

-anyway. somehow they escape, maybe with peril’s help or maybe not, and basically meet clay how clay meets his siblings in the first book, by going to the mudwing swamps.

-and again that’s all i’ve got for now but i’ll keep thinking about plot stuff

Other notes:

-this covers ONLY the first arc. i don’t know how to lead this into jade mountain so this au ends after the war unless i can think of a way to make JM happen

-I DO want peril to be friends with the dragonets, i just don’t know how to pull that off yet

-dune is dead, not sure how

-kestrel is dead because of the whole twin egg incident trial thing

-webs is hiding with the talons of peace, he might be a teacher to the false dragonets or something idk

-i don’t know how all the events in the books are going to go down but i want glory to be queen someday and things with the summer palace will go down and starflight will go blind because of the volcano, probably, but i’m working all of that out

-glory will eventually be queen

-the summer palace might be destroyed somehow idk yet

-the volcano will erupt and starflight will go blind, but that might happen after the war ends

-i don’t exactly know if and where they’ll meet the sandwing queens but i’m working on that

Oof this just popped into my head but what kinda vibes to you think ur anons give off?? Like, do I radiate different energy than 💚 anon? Stuff like that -🤟

hmmmm lemme think... i'm gonna use it as metaphors for a family because that's what my brain is doing apparently

(i used they them pronouns for each example because i am not referring to the anons but rather the metaphorical family mwmbers, but pls let me know if it makes any of you uncomfy)

💚 anon - remus gives off hyper vibes, i imagine like a 6 y/o on a sugar rush who keeps getting a ton of new ideas for games and is really excitable. also the kid who will always convince everyone to play because their energy is so infectious

🤟 anon - you give off cool older sibling vibes, like the 16 y/o sibling who kinda keeps to themselves being quite introverted but every now and then you'll pop your head into the living room and play with your younger sibs and they'll really look up to you for it and they have a great time because you know a lot and you know how to make the game really interesting

🤍 anon - white heart anon gives off sweet flower child vibes. the little 8 y/o sibling who's quiet and mainly just soes little drawings in their sketchbook but when they do talk it's to offer kind soft words to their family members. the sibling who has a kind of sixth sense for if someone is feeling bad and will go to them and hold their hand and tell them how much they love them

🐝 anon - bee anon is like a shy 4 y/o cousin who gets to come over fairly often. they are secretly as exciteable as remus but need to be coaxed into it because they try to hide it around the unfamiliar family. when they're hiding it they're very polite and ohrase things as questions rather than sentences, but inside their lil head they have just as many cool game ideas as their cousin

V anon - that 5 y/o who says really creepy stuff. you'll be taking them to get an ice cream and they'll say 'i think it's weird that mommy used to be my cousin 100 years ago' and their parent will go still and say 'what...' and then the kid just smiles and says 'can i have strawberry flavour??' or who will stand at the foot of the bed in the middle of the night just staring at their parents until one of them wakes up and screams

J anon - the 12 y/o who's in that weird stage between kid and teen, they want to play games still but also feel conscious that they're a big kid now and should be more mature. you'll find them either 1) chilling with 🤟 anon and trying to look cool for the 16 y/o, 2) sitting in the living room with the kids and pretending theyre not watching my little pony, or 3) remus has actually managed to rope them into a game and they light up and have a blast and the kids love them for it

smallanon (EDIT: now 🌙 anon) - tiny baby. 1 y/o cutie who doesn't stop by that often because they're usually having a nap or being taken care of by their parent, but when they do get to join in family time they are playful and giggly and it makes the whole thing a bit softer around the edges and convinces the others to be a bit less chaotic

Pairing: Thor x Reader

Summary: For years, you had been dancing around each other, too in love to step away, but too afraid to take that step forward. Now, Thor has finally found the courage to tell you how much you mean to him, but he’s too late.

Request: Anon said “Okay first, lemme say that I am freaking IN LOVE with ur writing. Ive never seen someone write with the amount of raw passion ur write with. Second, if u are interested, could u pleaseee write an angst where the reader dies in Thor’s arms? I already have my tissues out!”

Warning: Violence, Death, and a bucket-full of angst for the lovely anon. ;)

The first time you saw him was on a rainy April day. Raindrops pelted the roof of the small bus stop you had ducked under and the branches of a nearby willow groaned and flailed in the wind. Just your luck. You were stuck outside during the first storm of the season, wearing only a thin sweater that was already plastered onto your arm, nothing more than a rag to soak up the water.

You let out a sigh as thunder bellowed and water streamed onto the roof, dripping down onto your face through the cracks in the celling. You stood, thinking that it would be better to try and make a run for it than to drown in this pitiful box of glass.

Just as you were about to leave, you felt something being pressed into your hand. An umbrella. You looked up to meet eyes the color of the current sky. Blue-grey eyes that pierced your own. Right now, those eyes were sad, but still carried a warmth that made the chill in your bones disappear. He gave you a small smile and before you could react, he was gone in a flash of blue and gold, leaving the umbrella in your hand.

A week later, you walked into a meeting room in Stark Tower to meet those same blue eyes, and your life changed forever.

From the moment you met, you and Thor were inseparable. Opposites in every way, you and Thor pushed each other, challenged one another, and as cliche as it sounds, you brought the best out of the other. Where Thor was loud, you were quiet. Where Thor was outgoing, you were more shy and reserved. You were the water to his fire, the lightning to his thunder. You were soulmates in every sine of the word, but both of you had yet to know it.

As seasons passed and years flew by, your friendship slowly grew into something more. It started with a few lingering glances and flushed cheeks and slowly turned into nights on the roof of just you and him and the stars, falling asleep in each others arms after a long day of blood and death. Yet neither of you made that leap of faith, to cross that line separating friendship and something more. And so, the two of you kept on dancing around each other, neither of you brave enough to make that step forward, but too afraid to let go.

Slowly, the world around you changed, and you and Thor changed with it. You fought in the battle of New York together, against Ultron together but in your heart, you knew that what you two had wasn’t for forever. That he’d have to go back to Asgard to take his place as King, and that you’d stay here. Still, nothing prepared you for the moment that he did leave. It felt as if a piece of your soul had been cut away, and unbeknownst to you, it was the same for him.

The accords and the ensuing civil war came and went and before you knew it, you were standing in the fields of Wakanda, facing down evil in its purest form. And still, you thought of him. You thought of him as bullet after bullet erupted from your hands. You thought of him as friend and foe alike went down beside you. You thought of him as the the beautiful grassy plain turned into a slaughterhouse.

And as if your thoughts had summoned him, lightning exploded across the battlefield.

Your mind, your heart, you very soul sang at the feeling of having him so close. As you took of your enemies with renewed vigor, the pain of the last two years faded away until your heart was finally filled with something you haven’t felt un a long, long time. Hope.

Across the battlefield, all Thor could think about was you. You were so close that he could feel you. You were all that he had thought about for the last two years. Consuming his thoughts every waking moment, in his dreams every night. The thought of you was all he had as his world went to hell and it was the thought of your shy smile. so full of warmth, and the sound of your voice as you sang to him on the nights he couldn’t sleep that got him through everything that happened during the last two years.

Sometime during the last two years, he had realized that you were the love of his life. He wasn’t sure if it was when his father had faded away, or when his home exploded into a million little pieces, or when he had watched as the life was choked out of his little brother. He finally realized that you were the one. That you were always going to be the one. And that he needed, needed to tell you. Before he lost his chance. Thor had lost so much. He couldn’t lose you too.

But apparently, fate had other plans. You were on the ground, trapped by Thanos’ power. Beside you were your teammates. Your family, sprawled on the ground. All of you watched helplessly as the Mad Titan pushed Wanda aside to retrieve the stone from Vision. As Thanos completed his gauntlet, you cried out in a moment of pure desperation.

The moment he heard your cry, Thor sent a bolt of lightning that struck Thanos head on. As your soulmate and your worst enemy dueled, the hope in your chest resurfaced until it felt like a bright, shining star in your chest. But suddenly, a ripple went though the world.

And as a hollow feeling spread through your chest, you looked at Thor.

One second, he was on the other side of the clearing and the next, you were staring into the same blue eyes you had fallen for that rainy April day.

“Y/N?” He asked desperately. “Oh Seven Realms, what the fuck did I do?”

His eyes filled with agony and panic. And pain. So much pain that it was tearing your heart into two.

You knew you were dying, that you didn’t have much time left, so you lifted your hand and turned Thor’s head until he was looking at you.

“Hey stranger.” You say softly.

Even through the tears, Thor still smiled. “Hey beautiful.”

Your lips formed a faint smile as you looked at him. Different in so many ways since you’ve last seen him, but still your Thor. “I like your hair.” The words came out breathy and gravelly, but Thor still heard you.

Thor let out a chuckle that turned into a sob as your hair turned into ash, strand by strand. “Please, please stay with me Y/N.”

You could feel your legs turn numb as you tried to force one last sentence from your lungs. “I will come back for you. This isn’t the end.” And with the last of your strength, you brushed your lips over Thor’s cheek.

And as Thor’s heart broke in his chest, he finally said it.

“I love you Y/N.”

Your eyes widened and you opened your mouth but it was too late. And as you felt yourself drift away, your last thought was that Thor would never hear the words echoing through your heart.

I love you too.

Excluding anything I’ve DMed, Sivarna by @pluviance!

3. Your favorite side quest.

In the group campaign we played in together, there was one session that idr if you were able to be there for but we like,,, went into a forest and bought a really ugly belt from a stoner for zero plot reasons and I count it as a side quest in my heart

4. Your current campaign.

Well, you know everything about all my current campaigns that you’re allowed to know rn, but for anyone who might be reading who isn’t in them:

The group campaign is being used as scapegoats in the brutal murder of an ambassador’s daughter and is fleeing a city through secret tunnels -- we last left off at Cathal becoming a giant badger and burrowing upward

In the solo campaign with Senua, she’s attempting to deliver a large, magical object from the goddess of earth deep inside a mountain, and she’s facing down a basilisk with three NPCs

And in the solo campaign with Scribbles, he’s just played a card game that was really more of an interrogation, where he found out a high dragon has taken interest in him, and he is, in unrelated news, taking a package to the local apothecary

5. Favorite NPC.

Of someone else’s, I love Lucy from the Chim campaign!

Of mine, I will never stop loving Mr. Kretever Tatell. Kret is a goddamn idiot but he’s my goddamn idiot

6. Favorite death (monster, player character, NPC, etc).

Carran once killed an evil poison merchant by seducing her in an enemy king’s bedroom and stabbing her when he went in for the kiss gkfsljgfsj. Then he and Sivarna wound up hiding with her corpse under a bed discussing the concept of threesomes in whispers while the king wandered around his room. Not as like, a possibility. Just because the topic came up

7. Your favorite downtime activity.

8. Your favorite fight/encounter.

I liked the fight where I balanced the combat correctly lkgsflkjskljg, the one with guards in the tunnels

Storytelling!

Homebrew enemies are coolest imo but hard to balance; the giant gemstone ant I had you fight would’ve been my favorite if it’d been able to get more than like two attacks in gskjgksj

And insect swarms are very annoying to fight

How often I play is whenever every single one of the stars align and ideally I would play like every other day fksjglskfjg

God the current ones haven’t gone long enough for those yet really and I’m blanking on most from the group player campaign

I do remember Carran was 1000% convinced basil was poison at one point and his pet rat killed an evil, powerful sorcerer by chewing his ear

Just the group player campaign with Carran, which didn’t get to the heavy plot stuff before it ended tbh, and then the solo one you ran with Chim in what was rly a Very cool world concept of like hellish Las Vegas that I’d like to steal at some point

And then you ofc know this but for anyone reading who doesn’t, I’m going DM a maybe-oneshot, maybe-a few more than oneshot post-apocalyptic campaign for you and @fictitiousbees, set in a world that’s been destroyed by fast growing invasive fungi which is like. only The sexiest apocalypse scenario

Yes, religiously. Game time snack time

I’ve never played in person other than a single test game for new players! I prefer online tho; you can look things up and type if you’re shy

I have a rule about only two players being able to try the same sort of check, but that’s it for us so far that I can think of

Not yet! Cathal has a way with animals though

I got into it bc Critical Role made it look super super fun, and I’ve been playing off and on for two years now

I’ve regretted everything any character I’ve controlled has done I think that’s just dnd

Realistically tho, big yes for a lot of what Carran did, most notably snooping on another player character who had cast Alarm on her room

I never expected Cathal to become a large badger and dig out of the underground, how do you prepare for someone to, in all seriousness, tell you they’re going to become a badger and scrabble to the surface

I really tend to enjoy the one-on-one scenes; I think my favorite was having you roll that insane wild magic surge and detailing What Happened At The Theatre

Yes if it can go in DND Beyond

In group campaigns, not often, although we have two with us right now. In solo campaigns, if you want combat you’re getting an NPC party, at least for a bit

Personally I love RP heavy sessions; combat is fun but I crave Story

I think mostly diplomatic with a dash of murder hobo

Humans, elves, and half-elves are my favorite

For Carran it was,, A Whole Process

I came up with a basic idea, then journaled as him several times and wrote and rewrote until I had what felt Right, and then I kept toying with it and adding more details throughout the campaign -- I love playing and would really like to again but the obsession with expanding upon his story made me realize I need the freedom of worldbuilding that goes along with DMing; I don’t think I could be a player without DMing a separate campaign bc I just try to take over

34. Do you tend pick weapons/spells for being useful or for flavor?

Both!

35. How much roleplay do you like to do?

So much, I usually use old acting techniques and get fully into character
