in another universe, colm fahey is sitting down for a lovely meal with his son and smiling as he listens to jesper talk about his friends.
the ghafas are grounding inej for sneaking off at night to spend time with her boyfriend
wylan has a flute recital on the weekend that kaz pretends he won’t go to (no one is fooled)
nina and matthias go on dates to the ice cream shop, and matthias always lets nina eat most of his ice cream
the crows are safe, and instead of being criminals, they are simply a group of trouble-making, angsty teenagers. they are children who were allowed to be children. they get the childhoods they deserve.

I'm sorry I just saw this online and
Tumblr media
what. the fuck.
apparently the Zoe doll line is sold at Five Below, a chain of US discount stores. I can't find this one on their website, but the appearance of the accessories and packaging checks out. so it seems to be real
now we're just straight-up encouraging the childhood-annihilating cancer that is letting (or making) kids be influencers, apparently. cool cool cool cool cool cool

Let's talk about hostile architecture.
Tumblr media
This is a "slide" that recently went in at a playground near me. If it looks weird, that's because it's made of a couple dozen rollers instead of something rational. This might provide a fun texture to slide down until nature starts to win.
So, this machine has two obvious failure modes: The rollers break, the rollers stick. You should expect both to happen over time until the slide Breaks Down (what?) and turns into its opposite: a ramp. This is an unfortunate antipattern.
But this is so much worse than mere bad engineering. That's because the purpose of this slide does not appear to be speed, texture, or even discrimination against the long-haired.
This is an an anti-climbing design.
Any time you design something to "prevent people" or "stop people" or "discourage people", that's hostile architecture and it should be Discouraged. Very. Hard. I'm not gonna do the whole essay here, but feel free if you have Feelings that you want to share. I'll link the Wikipedia page at the bottom. But this is an attempt to control people disguised as a "safety measure" and DAMN IT LET KIDS PLAY THE WAY THEY WANT! The goal of a playground should be to FACILITATE play, not CONTROL it.
When kids can do stupid stuff in a semi-controlled environment, they learn to balance risk and fun before they get let loose on the world as young adults.
... I'ma stop before I go full rant. Hostile architecture bad, "dangerous" playground good.

I remember I was all excited to buy my first kite as a kid (it was a monarch butterfly), but I couldn't let it soar very far up because there were power lines all over the park so I think I took it out maybe three times before getting frustrated with not having enough room to get a decent lift so it stayed in the downstairs bathroom where we stored everything and would forget about it until I would use the toilet and see the monarch wing poking out from behind a box before I would finish up and then completely forget about it again. For years.
Something something rebuttal to "kids these days don't go out and play anymore!"

Arranged marriage? Come on dude... I can expect it from Tomoe (arranged marriages are still a thing in Japan, especially for rich families), but you married for love. Adrien is still a kid. Let him be.

I was on YouTube and had a video pop up of a sweet 10 year old girl showing her nightly routine. The first thing I noticed was the 5 different skin care bottles on her counter top. I'm 19 and all I do is wash my face and put on facial lotion... and these 5th grade girls are using Ulta products and retinol. What the hell are we teaching our girls?! Social media is indoctrinating young girls into becoming beauty-obsessed consumers and instilling the fear of aging into them before they can even drive. I was 10 almost a decade ago and this bullshit didn't exist. My mom didn't allow me to wear makeup and sure as hell didn't buy me $30 bottles of skin care serum.
Girls and women cannot just exist as human beings; we must always perform for those around us and be terrified by the thought of looking truly human. The parents (especially mothers) that allow these girls to become influenced by TikTok and buy them skin care need to be shaken by the shoulders istg. These girls need to be playing with toys and riding bikes, not obsessing over their appearance. This shit is beyond nightmarish.

Okay, I can see where the 'momtara' peeps are coming from (even though it doesn't make any sense), I can still see where people can base their argument from.
But seriously? Dadko? Are you for real? Like that has got to be one of the most baseless argument I have ever heard. Zuko has the emotional maturity of a fucking peanut.
And where are you even getting that argument from? Because he didn't let Aang drink watermelon juice? Because he told Sokka to get out of Appa's mouth? If that's what you think a dad is then you really need to revise your definition of a father.
Or maybe you only think of Zuko as a dad because Katara is a 'mom' and you want them to 'fall in love while taking care of these problem children'.
Zuko is a teenager who is a victim of emotional and physical abuse while Katara is an early teen who had to grow up too soon because of her mother's murder. Stop adultifying them.

Whenever I tell someone I am not going to have kids and their immediate response is:
"But what if your child saves the world /invents a cure / etc?"
I get so irrationally angry.
What a terrible responsibility to put on a child. If you want the world to be saved so badly; do it yourself coward.

10 years old at those stores oh no i don’t like it one bit.
Tumblr media
There are many factors at play for something like that. But I like to think it’s because of parents and limited access kids have to bring a kid nowadays! Parents have grown up in this culture where if put a kid in front of a TV or electronic devices of any kind they will fine and you can go do what you need to get done that moment. Where they aren’t always checking out what is it that they’re kid is watching, because they are busy doing something else.
As well as mother’s bringing their children everywhere they go, like the malls to go shopping for make up and clothes, so at some point the kids will be influenced by it from a young age. I get it, nothing wrong with mothers doing that but watch out for your little girls because all they wanna do is copy you all freaking day! So of course they want to go places that like and act rude to staff.
But the other factor I’ll like to point out here is the very fact that kids nowadays don’t have that much freedom to do stuff! I sorta fall victim here to that issue because we have been conditioned to stay home and watch TV (or nowadays IPads) that we don’t know how to socialize that well for that matter. 👀
Kids aren’t allowed to socialize with kids their ages in parks, at school and or parties like one normally would because parents become so protective of their children (which is a good thing 10000%) but in result you limit the kids into things they can and cannot do!! And I get it, your the parent so you make the decision at the end of the day but like I said, you don’t allow your child that liberty to experience things the way they should.
Going back to my point, kids nowadays don’t have the freedom to do much and be creative, but it is NOT just the parents here but the media. Nowadays media like cartoons and sitcoms for children aren’t even the same, they aren’t as favorable for children where they will get creative, be inspired and learn some kind of communication skills!
Cartoons back then used to have clever jokes, create memorable/ likable characters for everyone, learn a lesson across the episode and have a freaking catchy theme song. Just heart out behind it and now it’s just bleh 👎
In result kids will just move onto to videos on YouTube, scroll on Social Media like their friends and family members and just be rather bored because nothing it grab their attention long enough 🤷‍♀️
Anyone can reblog and or comment on this matter haha

These children should be making bracelets for fun, just like I did and so many others did. But they’re making them for identification in the event that they die. Let them be kids ceasefire now. All children are our children.

Here to have a little complaint because it's been on my mind. I have a younger cousin, nine years old she is, in year 4, primary school. I was out with her a couple weeks back in our local shopping centre and they had a small fair on for kids including face painting. Now my little cousin was really excited and asked if I'd wait in line with her to get her face painted which of course I said yes. As we were waiting I noticed a group of girls, around her age maybe a little older but 10/11 MAX, all in full nike with designer purses GLARING at my younger cousin and giggling at her for wanting to get her face painted. And like. What the fuck? I don't see anything wrong with a child being a child. However I don't blame these girls, I blame the way they were raised, societys expectations forcing them to think they had to be that way. What is happening to our youth is tragic. Tween years are being erased and teenagers practically have to be adults just to be deemed cool. It is sick. Let kids be kids.
